MOSHIACH IN THE PARSHA
Following the story of Nadav and Avihu, Hashem told Aharon
that Kohanim are forbidden to serve in the Beis Hamikdash while
Shikor (intoxicated). The Kohanim were divided into shifts and
had a schedule. It was the job of each Kohen to make sure not to
drink alcohol on his day.
In fact, according to some, this Halacha still currently applies,
despite the fact that the Beis Hamikdash is not standing, a Kohen
today should never become intoxicated. The simple reason being,
it is very likely the Beis Hamikdash will be built today and the
Kohanim's service will be needed. Therefore, Kohanim need to
stay sober, alert and ready.
There are two ways through which an intoxicated person can
become sober. He can sleep, or wait K'dei Hiluch Mil- about
eighteen to twenty-four minutes. Since a kohen is currently never
allowed to become intoxicated, it is clear that within only twenty-four
minutes from this moment, we can expect to find ourselves
deep in Geulah, the Beis Hamikdash already built and Korbanos
waiting to be brought! A Kohen therefore has to be ready and able
to serve in the Beis Hamikdosh within twenty four minutes!
From this we learn just how practical and real our waiting and
hoping for Moshiach should be. It needs to permeate and effect
every moment and each detail of our lives.
יַיִן וְשֵׁכָר אַל תֵּשְׁתְּ אַתָּה וּבָנֶיךָ אִתָּךְ בְּבֹאֲכֶם אֶל אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְלֹא תָמֻתוּ חֻקַּת עוֹלָם לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם" )ויקרא י, ט(

In the Sicha of Tes Adar 5750, the Rebbe spoke
about the connection the numbers eight, nine and
ten have with the Geulah.
The Rebbe explained: Tes Adar comes after
eight full days of the month, the number eight
symbolizes the Geulah, as Chazal tell us that
the Kinor of Moshiach comes will be of eight
strings. From that the Rebbe learns that the ninth
day, which comes after the eighth, has a special
significance. As the number nine is above eight,
and is a preparation to the last and final step –the
number ten.
Here the Rebbe added with his handwriting,
that from this we understand the greatness of the
number nine, as nine becomes a preparation to
the Harp of ten strings, connected with the tenth
day – which is Kodesh.

ומזה מובן שביום התשיעי שלאחריו ישנו עילוי עוד יותר גדול
)ועד שנעשה הכנה לכינור של עשר נימין, להעילוי דיום העשירי,
"העשירי יהיה קודש"(.
A Chossid once asked the Tzemach Tzedek, "Why do we learn Chassidus
now if we don't understand it fully? When Moshiach comes everyone will
understand Hashem, regardless whether they learn Chassidus or not. So
why struggle with it now?"
A man stands behind a wall listening " :משל The Tzemach Tzedek answered with a
to a conversation happening on the other side. He only hears snatches of the
conversation, and cannot really understand. However when the conversation is
repeated to him directly, he exclaims 'Aha! That's what I heard before!'"
"So it is with us," explained the Tzemach Tzedek, "When Moshiach comes, we
who learn Chassidus will be able to say, "Aha! That's what I was learning about!"
Our appreciation for it will be that much greater for our efforts.”
In the previous issue of Moshiach Weekly, a story was brought about a Tzaddik
who gave a reason for this what it says in Gemara why Moshiach can’t come on
Shabbos and Yom Tov.
In connection to that, we bring the following story below.
One Shabbos, the Tzemach Tzedek Spoke strongly about Moshiach’s coming.
One of his Chassidim asked, how is it possible for Moshiach to come on Shabbos,
When the Gemora says that he can’t?
The Tzemach Tzedek replied: surly the Yidden won't mind if Moshiach will
come on Shabbos, and when Moshiach will come, we will ask Eliyohu Hanovi this
question and he will give us an answer. The Rebbe retold this story many times,
saying that Moshiach can actually come on Shabbos or Yom Tov.

On Shabbos Parshas Shmini 5751, only two days after the earth-shattering Sicha of 28 Nissan, Chassidim were still quite
in shock and confused from the unheard of things they had heard just days earlier. During the Rebbes Farbrengen one of
the Alte Chassidim, Reb Itchke Gansburg, got up and said amidst tears that being that "Tzadik Goizer V'HaKodosh Boruch Hu
Mekayem" the Rebbe should make a decree and force Hashem to bring Moshiach immediately.
In the Sicha which followed the Rebbe responded to his request, saying that he is Moichel the Toivah of those who are trying to
find for him an "Avodah Chadosha". Instead, the Rebbe said, everyone must be involved in trying to figure out what they must add
in order to bring the Geulah. What is needed is simple to add in learning Torah, Nigleh and Chassidus, and to be Mekayem Mitzvos
B'hidur. Chassidim recount that in the weeks following this Sicha Anash and Tmimim were driven and totally involved in learning,
Avodas HaTfillah and whatever Chassidus demands. Everyone was coming up with different ideas and in this was the whole "Ruach
Hachayim" of Chassidim: What more can we add to make Moshiach come even sooner?
דערפון האט מען א הוראה בנוגע צו דער עבודה פון
א אידן, ובענין שהזמן גרמא – צו ברענגען די גאולה
האמיתית והשלימה:
א איד קען דאך טענה'ן: וויבאלד אז ער איז א מדוד
ומוגבל, כולל מצד די הגבלות פון טבע העולם, און חלק
חשוב מהיום איז ער עסוק )ע"פ תורה( אין דברי רשות,
אכילה שתי' לינה, און בפרט אין זמן הגלות ווען ס'איז
דא כמה מדידות והגבלות והעלמות אויף עבודת ה'
בשלימות וכו' וכו' – האט ער לכאורה אפילו ניט דעם
כח צו טאן אן עבודה קטנה יותר, עאכו"כ ניט דער כח
צו ברענגען די גאולה האמיתית והשלימה?!
זאגט מען אים – אז ביאת המשיח איז "תלוי
במעשינו ועבודתינו כל זמן משך הגלות" דוקא, און
וויבאלד אז די גאולה איז נאך ניט געקומען איז דאס
גופא א ראי' אז ס'איז תלוי אין "מעשינו ועבודתינו"
פון איצטקן דור.
און וויבאלד אז "אני נבראתי לשמש את קוני" –
יעדער איד, אנשים נשים וטף, און "איני מבקש כו' לפי
כחן" ]און ניט נאר וואס "מבקש כו' לפי כחן" נאר דער
אויבערשטער איז אויך מסייע אין דער עבודה ו"הקב"ה
עוזרו"[ – איז פארשטאנדיק אז יעדער איד האט די
כחות צו טאן "מעשינו ועבודתינו" לשמש את קונו,
און טאן אלץ בשלימות – ניט בלויז אלץ מסייע ועוזר
צו א צווייטן, נאר אז ער אליין טוט די עבודה, לפום
שיעורא דילי', בשלימות; ביז אז ער ווערט א "שותף
להקב"ה" אין דער עבודה, וואס א שותף אמיתי איז
ניט בלויז מסייע וכיו"ב, נאר ער איז א שותף אין אלע
פרטים וענינים און אין אחריות הדבר וכו'.
ובפשטות:
יעדער איד, אנשים נשים און אפילו טף, האט די
אחריות צו מוסיף זיין אין זיין עבודה צו ברענגען משיח
צדקנו בפועל ממש!
דערפון איז פארשטאנדיק, אז עס האט קיין ארט ניט
אז אנשטאט אליין טאן זאל מען זיך פארלאזן אויף
אנדערע אדער ארויפליייגן די ארבעט אויף אנדערע –
נאר דאס איז די עבודה פון כל אחד ואחת, יעדערער
דארף אליין טאן זיין עבודה "לשמש את קוני" )צוליב
וועלכע "אני נבראתי"(, און ס'איז זיכער אז ער האט
אויף דעם כחות )ווארום "איני מבקש כו' אלא לפי כחן"
כנ"ל(.
און אין וואס באשטייט די עבודה – איז דאס אויך
בפשטות: אין מוסיף זיין בתורה ומצוות, אין לימוד
התורה – נגלה דתורה און פנימיות התורה, און אין
קיום המצצות בהידור, כולל ובמיוחד בענין שהזמן
גרמא – קיום המנהג )ווי דער אלטער רבי שרייבט
בסידורו( צו זאגן )און לערנען( פרקי אבות )נאך תפילת
מנחה( בשבתות בין פסח ועצרת, ובכל שבתות הקיץ.
און נוסף צו אליין מוסיף זיין בזה- דארף מען אויך
משפיע זיין אויף אנדערע זיי זאלן מוסיף זיין ]ובפרט
אויב ביי אים )דער משפיע( אליין האט פריער געפעלט
אין שלימות קיום עבודתו, דארף ער דאך מוסיף זיין
בזה בכפליים לתושי', כולל דורך משפיע זיין אויף
אנדערע אין דעם[, ובכללות העבודה פון הפצת התורה
והיהדות והפצת המעינות חוצה וועלכע ברענגט
במיוחד "אתי מר" דא מלכה משיחא.
וכל זה – מתוך הצפי' והתשוקה וכו' חזקה צו דער
גאולה – "אחכה לו בכל יום שיבוא", ווי מ'זאגט
עס בכל יום בתפלה: "ותחזינה עינינו בשובך לציון
ברחמים", און )בימי החול( – "את צמח דוד עבדך
מהרה תצמיח". וכמדובר כמ"פ.
ויה"ר אז דורך די אלא החלטות טובות פון אידן בכל
מקום שהם צו מוסיף זיין בעבודתם, ועאכו"כ דורך
קיום ההחלטות בפועל – זאל דאס שוין פועל זיין
פעולתו, און מיד, און ברענגען די גאולה האמיתית
והשלימה ע"י משיח צדקנו, וכימי צאתך מארץ מצרים
אראנו נפלאות, ועוד ועיקר – תיכף ומיד ממש.

When Moshiach comes, we will be going to the Beis Hamikdash,
not three times a year, rather every Shabbos and every month,
as the Novi says “V’hoyo Midei Chodesh B’Chodesho U’Midei
Shabbos B’Shabbato.
