2. PROCESS
This is a first draft of how I want the
main character to look like. As the main
character is a detective, I have just
designed a few different theories of
how he would look. This isn’t the
character players would be playing as,
they would create their own avatar and
play as the detective assistant, helping
them along the way through the murder
mystery. I chose to draft my detective to
look like a sheriff as they have a high
authority and are stereotypically good
at finding enemies. I also noted that
they’re not a typical character to have in
video games, therefore I wanted to
create one to see if I could write one
into the story. Based on the storyline
and time of year I am creating my game
in, I wont be bale to use the sheriff
character within my game.
3. PROCESS
This is a second draft of how I would
want my detective character to look like.
As I want my game to be an overhead
view, obviously this specifically designed
character wont be appropriate as he isn’t
the right size to fit onto the small screen.
This character is based from the old
cartoon of Inspector gadget, hence the
grey clothing choice and hat style.
Obviously the character was created with
the intention of being original, I just
wanted to test out some more designs
before I created the final detective
character.
4. PROCESS
This is just one of the
backgrounds I have created
for my game, as my game is
a murder mystery, I had to
create the background of
the outside of the house
where the crime took place,
the first scene of the game
players would see when first
having starting the game.
This wont be my main
background throughout my
game as it will be seen more
in passing or used as a
back drop when characters
are talking.
5. PROCESS
This character is the final
completed product of how I
would have my main
detective look. He is based
on a stereotypical 1920s
detective and inspector
gadget. Obviously as all
ideas had to be original and
my own, I had to create this
character in a different way
to what others look like.
This character I created isn’t
what the player would play
as, as the player would get
to design their own, or have
the computer generate a
character for them.
6. PROCESS
This is the final product for
what my terrain will look
like, including houses and
trees. Originally I wasn’t
going to design the outside
terrain and more the room
inside one of the buildings,
however I felt it was too
simple to just design a room
and I wanted to challenge
myself, therefore I designed
tress and houses which was
challenging, but
accomplishing once I’d
finished as I like the way
they have turned out as I
wasn’t expecting them to
