2. Process
The first thing I did with the cover was take the
photos of the model and then chose which one I
thought looked best for the cover, so I chose this
one that is on the left. I wanted to make it look
more interesting to look at, like I did this weird
effect to her body to create this shadow look
which makes your eyes go weird. At first I wasn’t
sure as the audience might not like the look of
this effect as it might irritate them or make their
eyes hurt but I thought it looked cool so I kept it.
Also because my audience is mainly teenagers
who don’t really mind this type of look where
older people might not like the look as its not
clear and neat might look messy where
teenagers like that look as most teenagers listen
to rap music which uses this type of effect with
their videos. When I made this change I used the
tool ‘Lasso Tool ’ to trace around her body to
then go onto ‘Opacity’ and changed it from
100% to 54% to make it look faded not too
intense and then dragged the body away from
where it was which created this look which I like.
3. Process
The next part to making the cover of the
magazine was, I wanted to change the
model to black and white. I did this because
I wanted to make the background standout
as well as the model so I made it black and
white which made it look like the photo in
the top left, next to it shows how I did
which was by clicking adjustments then the
black and white button which then turned it
the way it looks in the photo’s. I then made
the background by getting a few cards that
had designs on them and took a picture of
them altogether, which I then pasted onto
Photoshop and then duplicated it to make it
fit the whole page which created the two
pictures at the bottom left. I made the
background look a little faded because I still
wanted the model to pop out still as my
magazine is about fashion so I tried to
balance it out but still pop with the colour
in the background. I made the backgrounds
opacity to 76% so it still pops.
4. Process
After I got the background I then added a title which I
got from 1001 fonts. When I first placed the title on
the page I felt it didn't really stand out so I double click
on the title where all the other layers are and selected
outer shadow and changed the colour white to make
‘Rouge’ standout on top of the background I then
clicked on drop shadow which mixed with the outer
shadow which looks like the pictures.
In the picture at the bottom is my final product, like I
did with the top photo I made the ‘Amy Foster’ and
’Exclusive Interview’ pop more by clicking twice on the
layer of them both and picked for the name, effects
and stroke to create the white boarder around the text
which makes it pop on top of the models clothes then
with the Exclusive bit I did the same to the name to
make them both pop which I feel that they both do.
The last bit of text I added was the bit under the title
so you can’t really see it but it says ‘Issue 5 £2.99 Apr
18’ which is the issue for the magazine so people know
the price and when it was realised. To make it stand
out a little more I hose the effect stroke as well as the
name and interview bit.
5. Process
The first thing I did was take lots of pictures
of the model ‘Amy’ for me to pick one that
will go well with my double page spread. I
chose this one on the left because I felt it
went well as the model is on the left
making room for me to put text on the
right side of the page. As you can see in the
top photo its plain and boring not a lot is
going so I decided to change the colour
balance to a blue tone which made it look
like the bottom photo. Also with the top
picture I wanted to remove all the items
behind the model in the picture below it as
you can see. I did that to make it look
professional as it looks messy behind her so
wanted it to look clear. I did this by using
the colour wheel to select the closest
colour to the walls and coloured it in to
remove writing etc.. I feel that it looks a
loot better than before.
6. Process
The second thing I did was use the
lasso tool to trace around her head to
get a new layer of just her head and
hair so I can then make the opacity
lower which I chose 54% to make it
look faded so when I moved the head
to create the illusion that the models
head is copied a lot of times to make
it look blurry also to make you
confused as it messes with your eyes
when you look at it. I feel that it
makes a really cool effect to the
image instead of it just being her sat
there. I feel it makes it look
interesting to look at as it’s different
to the other magazines you see in the
shops.
7. Process
The next bit I did was add text but because the background
had too much white parts you couldn’t see any of the text
and I wanted it to be white text not black. So I got the
rectangle tool and placed it where I wanted. I wanted to
carry on with the blues so I chose the blue colour that is on
the stairs and made it a little lighter so its not the same
colour. I then wanted to be able to see the background
without it being blocked by the layers I keep adding so I
went on the opacity of the rectangle and made it 60% which
made it look cool and different in a different way then it
being a solid colour blue. After I added the rectangle I then
added the text which talks about the model ‘Amy’ and
there's a little interview about her talking about how she got
into the modelling industry. I then wanted the models name
in bold somewhere so I thought that there's not a lot going
on in the left corner so I placed it there. I anted the pink to
tie in as well as the models hair is pink so I chose a similar
colour to her hair but you couldn't really see it very well so I
added a darker colour to make it pop more which it did as
you can se in the images to the left. Before I moved on to
the last bit I wanted the opacity to not be so strong so I
clicked on the layers and made the opacity 91% so its not
too bold but still bold to see what it says. The very last part I
did to the double page spread was adding more pictures of
the model underneath the text as there was a gap so placed
the two pictures in the squares and wanted them to fi to my
theme so I changed one of the photo to a pink colour and
the other to a blue which is the colour scheme I did for the
rest of the page so I thought it went well.
