3. Why I chose the images?
So I got a mixture of themes I liked that match to what I have done for either experiment or what I would
like to also include in my work. So on the left side of the style sheet these are the magazines I have
collected from my research as that’s what I would like to include and I just like the look of them especially
for a front cover as it’s a little more subtle looking and the to have more of the images I collected on the
right side inside the book as I really like the style it has, with the bright bold colours but they go well
together. I have put a few of them images on this page so you can see what images I am on about. I feel
like im going to lean more towards the bolder colours like the bottom image with the blues and reds as its
different to what I have done before as I usually go for pastels but I want to mix it up as im doing
something different to what I normally do so doing different colours with that will make it fun and
interesting for me.
With the top images that I have collected, I’ve picked these ones because of the its simple looking for a
cover as I still want to have a model on the front as I find that attracts people mostly than just having an
image. It also means that I can become creative with how I create it so because it is about graphic design so
I will have a model and then I can edit it to have some kind of effect to it. Like the one on the right where it
has a jungle growing out of her face, the whole magazine in general is simple looking with the colours and
text but then the actual design makes it look 100 times more interesting than it just being the simple look
with out that look to it.
With the bottom images where I would create theses for the inside of the magazine/book as im wanting
more of a gallery than a magazine style. I like theses images because I feel that they’re so different to what I
have made before but they still have a really good graphic design to them which makes them unusual
which is good for what I’m making. I liked the style because it reminds me of rotoscoping but in more
colour. I did a little bit rotoscoping before this project and I really enjoyed doing it so including a little bit of
that inside my project will be nice because I will be remaking them just a little different with the colours.
Just looking at the pictures close up I’ve noticed that it has a few patterns behind the main image which I
like a lot as it adds more to the picture than it just being a person that’s been edited. The bottom left one
with a man with butterflies on his face and then leaves behind him makes the image look like there's more
going on where if they weren’t there it would just be a man with a blue face. I would like to include
something like this for my product as I think it looks so cool and just makes the picture look nice to look at.

5. Why I chose these colours?
I have chosen these colours for my production because its something different to what
I have done before as I lean more towards pastel colours. I also got inspired by the
images I included in the last slide, I’ve put one of the pictures on this page too so you
can see why I have picked the colours I’ve picked with the top picture. As you can see
with the picture of the man with his arm across his face the colours that have been
used are very bold and unusual to go with each other but I liked that look. I also liked
it because even though the colours are quite bold colours they aren’t in your face
because of the rest of the image, like the top how that’s just black and white which is
the biggest part to the image so having the skin blue and including the red and green
makes it jus stand out a little more without taking over the picture.
I tend to stick to a colour palate, so colours that are quite similar to each other like
pastels but im bored of doing that I want my work to be bold with these primary
colours because I think the image I have picked, looks really good and caught my eye
when I was searching for ideas. I want something that will attract people attention and
I think if I found this picture eye appealing then my target audience that is around my
age group might as well. I know not everyone's taste is the same but because they are
basic colours not a lot of people will dislike them because of that.
When I was looking back at my work I wanted to see what colours I might lean more
towards when doing my product. So when I was seeing what order I want to do my
slides in for each design I noticed a repletion of colours which are red and blue, so I
will most likely be using them colours more than the rest that I have selected in my
style sheet. Obviously I might use different colours along side of them two colours like
maybe some greens and yellows but I think the main colour are going to be red and
blue.
7. Why I chose these fonts?
I’ve picked these fonts because I like the simple looking ones as my production
work will be very big and bold so I want to keep the text simple looking but still
look good with my work. i have picked the top two because of they are kind of
similar but ones thicker and I feel that I might want a thinker title because I find
again when I make my production work in the past I always tend to pastel colours
and really minimalistic title that’s think and girly, which im not sure why as I don’t
really like that style. I like minimalistic but not very girly things I prefer dominate
colours that’s stand out and attract both genders as I think pastels are more girly
and boys don’t like that and because im trying to attract both genders I want
something that they’ll both enjoy.
With the second font again its fairly similar to the top 2 but I liked this one a little
more than the first ones because I think it’s a mixture of both by having the top
fronts style and a little bit of the seconds thickness. I could be wrong but I feel
that this font could work well for my product.
With the last font its very different to my other as each letter is thinker in a way
but without the inner bit. I like it because its very different to what I’ve used
before so this might be a maybe. I unusually can’t decide what font I want till the
very end I either use one while doing my work then when im finished I go back
and see which font loos best with the theme I've done. I have gravitated for
simple looking fonts as it goes with everything and just looks professional as
some fonts look a little too much and can’t read very well so I try to go for simple
ones.
9. Why I chose these patterns?
I chose these patterns because I feel that it would add more to my work when im
making it. So I chosen a butterfly and some leaves and a few swirls which I was thinking
for them to come off the stem of the leaves to with different colours. At first I thought
patterns might be a little weird but I feel it will add more dimension to the image and
add more designs to it which will make it appeal to more people as its got a lot going
on.
So with the butterfly I could either put it on someone's face or in their hair and then
with the leaves I can have them coming out behind their heads or from their arm. It
sounds strange but ive seen some images that I got inspired from and they look really
cool with them so I might try them ot and if they don’t work then that’s fine as I tried.
I can also changed the colour of them too I don’t just have to have green leaves I was
thinking I could yellow and red leaves to match the colour theme with the rest of my
work. Along with the butterfly if im using a lot more blues in my picture and I needed
more colours that popped out a lot more against the blue I could make the butterfly
stand out which will be nice.
I have got a few more ideas on the other slide like clouds but im not sure about them
as I cant think to what I could do but I put it on there to see if it would work.
So I’ve added a image that I found when I was looking for more inspiration that I could
add to my product and I saw this one with some sort of leaves coming out behind the
head. The image is mostly blue so by having these type of leaves come out behind with
the pop of red really makes the image stand out a lot more. Which is good when you’re
trying to get you product to do well.
10. LOCATION
With the location im not going anywhere fancy to take any of my pictures because im not really needing a lot, plus
because all my images will be edited you won’t really be able to see a lot of the location. I will have a few images from a
while ago that I have taken on my phone and would like to include in my production. I will also be taking some in college
in the studio as it’s a clear image and is convenient as im in college with the equipment ill be needing. Annoyingly my
phone back camera has broken so I will be needing a camera but if I cant get a camera and I needing a few more images I
will have to use someone else's phone. Luckily I have family members that have phones that have good cameras so that
wont be a problem hopefully. Then the last location will either be in my house and maybe my brothers house as he has a
prop that I would like to use when taking my pictures.
So the locations ill be needing is York, York college, my house and my brothers house. I don’t think this will be hard to do
as I have some pictures already on my phone that was a while ago around area I live. Then my house and my brothers
house I can easily arrange to go round to my brothers and I’m at my house on most nights so it wont be a problem. I have
booked the studio and camera in college so here's no problems so far to get my images done. However because we are
currently living with the coronavirus that is effecting a lot of people there might be possibly that the government will close
school/colleges so I might not be able to get my pictures done but because I have a few on my phone already that I’ve
taken and if it gets any worse I could take some of myself in my house so I think it’ll be fine but is very annoying if that
does happen.
11. I didn’t have a a main theme to my ideas that I wanted to do I was just collecting images that I liked the look off
and finding photoshop tutorials on YouTube but I wanted to have an actual meaning to my work so when I was
looking at all the images that I have collected they all have pictures of people in them so I asked what it was
called and they said portraiture and turning them into a postmodern way which fits more into my age group etc.
So I’ve decided that I’m going to focus on portraiture which is art of painting or taking portraits of people which
is what I’ve decided to do and then edit them in a postmodern way which is when relating to or characterised by
postmodernism, especially in being self-referential.
As you can see in these images they are all portraits of people and then postmodern into a cool design by the
colours and themes that are going on in each image. They are all different with the things they are doing but
the themes are similar by the colours that have been used. I will like to try this but add my own twist to this
because I do also like a neon theme to my work as I have collected a few images from it too so I could include
it in my work or even just have a different slide to that as I am wanting to do different styles but in the theme
of postmodern.
12. SINGLE IMAGE/LOTS OF IMAGES ON THE SAME PAGE
So I wasn’t sure on which style I wanted to go for my production work, if I wanted one
image on each page with a few text on it or have a lot of images on one page. After I
completed this I decided that I’d prefer the single image alone as you get to see my work
close up and see all the detail that I’ve included. With this design I did isn’t very detailed
its just colours lapping each other but I just wanted to see what looked better. I do think
that the one with all the different image do look cool together but like I said you can’t
really see them in much detail as I’ve had to try and cramp them together.
So after doing both those experiments I have decided to go for the one image on each
slide as you get to see each image clear and in detail. I do like the effect the 4 images look
like altogether but I want to show all the details ill be adding to each project im going to
do. I also think if I want to put text on the page along with the picture I want to make sure
that you can see it clear too and I feel if you have a lot of images on one page you might
not see the text as there’s a lot going on already.
14. FRONT AND BACK

This is going to be the front cover so I’ll have
the text at the top of the page preferably one of
the fonts from the font style slide. Then have
the main model in the middle of the page as I
want them to be the main focus to the page. I
will obviously have my design to the model as I
want to show a little of what the magazine is
about before audience look inside, want to be
able to have a theme throughout it all so having
a little design to the model on the front cover
they will have an idea of what mt product is
about.
On the back page it will have the same theme
to the front apart from the model I want that to
be plain but with the same colour scheme. Im
also wanting to add patterns to the front too so
ill have that continue on the back too.

15. INSIDE THE MAGAZINE
So I think inside I’d want to add something like
the image I have put down, so have half a face
of either a models face that I have taken or a
celebrating that I’ve wither changed to my own
for example I could do rotoscoping. My idea for
this is to have one face on one side and then
another person on the other side , I like this idea
with the celebrity side so I female on one side
and then a man on the other. If that doesn’t turn
out right then I could have a models face that I
have taken of someone and do rotoscoping on
one page and then have their actual face on the
other side. Im not sure which one just yet as I
like both these ideas. I do personally think the
idea of having one side rotoscope and then the
other side their actual face not edited, so I might
try that one.
16. As im doing this im trying to think how im
wanting to do this as im not a 100% sure which
order to put all this in and I might end up
changing my mind on doing these designs as
they might not be good enough or just not what
im wanting for this project but im liking this
design with two images of someone and then
edit with colours to give off a glowy effect with
the same colour just different tones so it creates
a really cool effect, which you can see with these
two designs I’ve made.
I might add text to these ones maybe depending
what im feeling. Im not sure what to write in
things like this but if I feel that there should be
something when im actually doing my products
then im sure I will come up with something I like
the idea for these designs.
17. I’m really excited for this one because I loved
doing rotoscoping on my last project so I’m
happy that I’m including that in my work for this
project. So im going to do looks similar to this
on both pages from either pictures that I’ve
taken off or someone famous as I get to edited
into rotoscoping, you won’t be actually using a
real image of them . This depends if I take a
good enough image to make into rotoscope if
not then at least I have got that option to use a
celebrity.
I think when I do this im not sure if id use similar
colours or not, or have different tones of colours
to make it a little more exciting than it being the
same as its not standing out as much as two
tones of colours popping out.
18. So to mix it up a little I want to add some neon
work in to my work as I really like the effect the
neon looks. I have mentioned in my research
that my brother has a prop that I can use that
makes the room different colours and to be
able to achieve the look on the right side. I do
also have a prop that I could achieve the left
side picture with, but I’m not sure if I just want it
to be a room or have someone in it. I feel that
just having a room of the light might be
different and separate the look of having
people in every page so I might do that as it will
be different. I will edit these as well to make
them a lot more glowy and make the colours
pop more as it might make the image dark as
its going to have different colours which don’t
give off a lot of light as a normal light would.
19. Going back to rotoscoping theme this is kind
of like the one 2 slides before this one with the
colour being bold but I like the look a lot and I
feel doing more throughout the project will
link better as I want it to go together well even
though im doing different themes I still want
them to link still. So im going to something like
the image that’s on this slide and then do
another one on the other side as I like that look
of having two big pictures and seeing all the
details you put into them. I might do similar
colours on this one as the other one I might
pick similar colours so mixing it up might make
this loom different. I like that the background
and the smoke from the cigarette are in the
same colour bound then the glasses and hair
are the pop of colour to the image, its really
easy to do as its only 3 colours in this picture
but it creates this picture. The other picture I
added a day later as I liked the look of it with
the similar colour tones like the image next to
it so will try that one out too.
20. Okay with this one its reminding me a little of
the first image for the inside of this book
where its an rotoscoping image on half the
page, where this one has 4 different looks but
all still rotoscoping so I feel because I want to
do half rotoscope, half real person on the other
one, with this one I might do all rotoscope but
different peoples faces features. With different
colours for each one so say one side with have
red with different shades of red in it and then
same to the next one but maybe yellow. I feel
that it will look really cool as it will be different
in each corner of the pages. Im not sure if I will
take pictures of people I know for this one as
I’m not sure if I can get 4 people but if I cant
do that I can either use their face for another
corner so only sing 2 people but using
different parts of their face for the 4 corners of
the picture.
21. Next slide I might do is this, it kind of reminds
me a little of rotoscoping but without filling in
the inside of to have colours it just the outline of
the face, I like this because it’s similar to my
other work but its also different as its not exactly
the same as what I did before on the other
slides. I also like that I could make it neon the
lines and different colours so I could do 2 big
ones on both pages so they stand out. I might
also do a black background so the neon pops
even more like the background on the image. I
think it’ll look different as well from going to
coloured backgrounds from the other slides to a
black background. I feel it’ll give a it a new style
to my book which I like the thought off as it will
be unique.
22. This one is very similar to slide 17 and 15
because of the rotoscoping theme and I
wanted to include it again in my work as I
would say its my favourite style to do so I
wanted to do more of them than anything else.
At first I wanted it to be more neon themed but
looking at more existing products I found that I
preferred this style more. So what I like with
this one is that the right image is of feet which
is different as majority of my pages are going
to be of peoples faces so its different. Again
with then colours that have been used with the
blues and then a pop of colour from the shoes
and the leaves coming out of the jeans. With
the image on the left I like a lot as it reminds
me of the other slide with the blue face with
butterflies over his face its very simple looking
again but because of the colours that have
been used like with the blues there’s more of
that colour but because the clothing is red it
really makes the image stand out a lot more
than it just being blue so I like that and will
include that into my work.
23. Looking through what I have so far, I feel that
there isn’t enough work for myself to do over
the 2 month doing production so im trying to
find some more Ideas. I do think looking at my
work that I have got already, I think I might be
able to make more out of it but just incase I
want some more ideas so I’ve been looking and I
found 3 more ideas that I could do.
So I found this image which matches the last
slide with the patterns in the background. I like
this look because the image is in black and white
and then by having these coloured patterns
really make the image stand out. It also just
makes the image interesting to look at. I like
also that the title to this magazine which is
‘Vogue’ its in black which kind of blends into the
background but because it’s a known magazine
it doesn’t need a to stand out as much. Also with
the sub-headings are in white which makes it
stand out as that is telling people about the
magazine where the title isn’t.
Im not sure if I want it over to pages or just on
one and do the same on the other page. Will
decide when I make one and see what I want to
24. With this idea I like it because it’s a little
different to the rest of my work but I will link it
to my other work as it does have the bright
colours and a cool effect to it. I’ve also noticed
that the eyes are covered by the half circle
which reminds me of the other work I have
found with their arm covering their face so I
guess that links them together. The reason I
want them to link is because I don’t want it to
be confusing I do want to have some
resemblance to them all which is the cool
effects and colours.
I like that this one has a different pattern in the
background as I will be having patterns in my
work and I like how this one is different. This
one reminds me of space because of the
shapes and then its like the head with the line
going around him is like a planet. I also like
that the colour in the background is a colour
that I would like to include so its good that I
can see what it could possibly look like.
Obviously I can change the colour as I will be
making it my own work but I like that effect it
25. With this one I would say it’s a little more
different to the ones I have spoken about. I like
it a lot thought because of the pop of colour
that the person is. I guess it kind of links a little
as my other work will have different colours to
them as well for the clothing and skin like you
have seen in the past few slides. With he
background again with the patterns I like it
because it matches but they are different I
might include a little but I think I might add the
patterns that I like more which again are on the
other slides and I made a separate slide to
patterns so it’s easier to understand what kind
of patterns I’d like.
I like that when you look at the image the first
thing that stands out is the person with orange
all over her. I like that because I can do that
with my colour scheme I’m doing.
27. WEEK TASKS
Week 1 • Producing as many deigns of what I’m wanting to do, get ideas for
the front cover to match with my theme im doing.
Week 2 • Collect reference images to base my design on. Create mood
board.
• Gather a few images to produce a detailed overview.
Week 3 • I will prefer back to my planning to see what l am wanting to do to
remind me for when I start my production work. Look back on the
colour themes and font.
Week 4 • By then I’m hoping that most of my features will be finished.
Week 5 • I’m hoping that every week something will be completed so I’m
to date. Which will then lead up to the last week.

work to see if there’s anything that I need to improve or fix as well
