2. Process trailerUnfortunately,
I did not
document the
process of
making the
first character
I found a body
shape and hair
style stencil, which
I then traced
around using the
pencil tool
I then deleted
the outlines to
leave only the
pencil, deleting
and adding lines
when I needed to
I added a
pencil line
around the
middle, the
end of the
arm and the
neck and
then colored
it dark purple
to look like a
sweater.
I found some white
stars on google and
added them to the
sweater to make it
look like there were
stars on it
I found a few
templates for
skirts and then
chose my
favorite and
made it look like
it was on the
character
I flipped the
skirt around
to better suit
the character
I added more
stars and
removed the
white with the
magic want
tool so that I
could easily
tract around it
After tracing around the
skirt I removed the
stencil and the body
outline to make sure it
looked good on it’s
own.
I selected all
of the stars
and used
the paint
tool to make
them a
lighter
shade of
purple.
I also used
the paint
tool to make
the sweater
a lighter
purple to
better fit the
theme
3. Process trailer
I colored her hair 2
shades of dark purple
using the paint tool
and I added long socks
by adding lines with
the pencil tool and
coloring them light
purple
I found a shoe
style I liked on
google and
used the magic
wand tool to
remove the
white
background
I flipped the shoe so that it
was the right direction and
traced over the outlie to
make my own version, then
deleted the stencil to see
what it would look like.
I used the
paint tool to
make the
shoe purple
and the foot
fit into the
shoe.
I duplicated the layer
and fitted the second
one over the second
foot and then merged
them to make the
shoes one layer.
I found a good knife
template online and
then copied over it
using the pencil tool
to make it look
pixelated.
For her face I found
an image of
someone with an
unsettling/crazy
look and edited to
fit my characters
shape
I copied over
the image and
changed her
eye to a purple
color to fit my
character on a
different layer.
I then deleted
the original
image to keep
just the
copied
version.
I found a blood
splatter on
google images
and used the
magic wand tool
to delete the
white
background
4. Process trailerI added the
blood splatter
to her face and
the knife and
made it a
slightly darker
color
I placed the two
characters on
opposite ends of the
document and used
the selection tool and
paint tool to add a
pastel background
I selected half of the document
and used an effects layer to
make it darker, I then used the
selection tool to move certain
parts around to end up with the
out of place feel
I used this image to
inspire my logo
design for the center
I used a text
font site to
find the
perfect font
for my logo
I selected each letter individually and
painted them a different color to
create this effect.
I selected the bottom
half of the heart (I
didn’t take any pictures
of that) And used the
paint tool to make it a
lot of different colors
and then I selected the
word forever and
shaded it red with the
paint tool.
I opened premiere
and added the
animation (not
pictured) and added
suitable music
I added a multitude of
effects at different
parts of the trailer (the
first part of the trailer
wasn’t pictured)
I edited it all
together multiple
times until I found a
design that I thought
worked well
5. Process posterI used a selection
tool to separate the
document in half
diagonally and then
I used the paint tool
to make half light
blue and the other
half orange
I added dots by
multiplying layers,
moving them
around and then
merging them
multiple times, and
I found an image
on google for the
other pattern.
I added more dots
and coloured
them using the
paint tool (not
pictured) and then
used the liquefy
tool to create this
effect.
I added the 1st
character to the
top left
I copied the logo from
the trailer to the poster
I found the font
used by Netflix
online and edited
it together to
make this.I added static
to the right
hand side and
then put the
2nd character
behind it.
I reorganised
the layers so
she was in
front of the
text instead
I looked through the text
options to find the
perfect options for the
catchphrase at the top
I thought of a catchy phrase for the TV show that
made sense to the genre and then made it 2 different
fonts and colours to really highlight the word die.
I added smaller
purple dots to the
dots on the left hand
to make them look
more detailed and
interesting
6. Process magazine front cover
This was the
original
background
which I
scrapped for a
simpler look.
I removed the original bars
and made a thicker one for
the top, and then used the
same method I used on my
logo for the title. The title is
also a call-back to my last
magazine, which I named
Game Query.
I found a
nice text for
the bottom
text on a
text font
site.
I cut out the letters I
needed from the font and
placed them together,
using another font to
write the rest of the text.
I added the same logo from my
poster and trailer, and placed it so it
would be above one character but
below the other. I also painted dots
in the background
I made the dots smaller
and selected an area of
dots and used the paint
tool to paint them all
bright primary colours.
I added static over the coloured dots to mute
the colours slightly, since static is a recurring
theme in my work.
I re-added the title in the
centre and the
characters so they were
centred.
I painted the truth red to make it stand
out from the black text.
7. Process magazine page 1
I liked my production experiment so much
that I decided to use it in the final project.
The progress of how I made it is in the
production experiments PowerPoint.
8. Process double page spread
For the left side, I had a
simple pink colour with a
darker pink shade and a
purple title section, and on
the right side was a simple
blue background with black
rectangles- all done using
paint and selection tools.
I added the
words “Do not
watch it” in a
light blue and
changed the
opacity so that it
was hard to see
but still visible.
I added a short
informative
section to show
what my project
is to the
consumers.
Using the same
technique and font
as the logo I made
this title for the left
hand side.
I added a purple
header to the left
hand side and a
small text box to
the right.
I added another font for
the right title and
painted it red, and added
a small image just
underneath.
I added some
questions in red-
as the word query
means question
and I wanted to
feature the
questions
somewhere.
I added the
number 2 in
the same
font as the
title In the
bottom right,
and painted
it a lighter
colour.
I added some more
questions, and
made them slightly
disturbing to put
readers on edge.
I added the number 3 to the
bottom right and changed around
the text layout to make
everything look more
professional
9. Process magazine page 4I shaded the
background
different
kinds of
purple
ranging from
dark to light.
I experimented
with a more
colourful
background but
decided the
simple one
looked better.
I found an image
of a broken heart
on google,
coloured it blue
and multiplied it,
spreading it
around the
background.
I added another
layer, where the
hearts were red
and then change
the opacity.
I added a
purple
header
and the
number 4
I added the title is a block
font and then selected
the middle part to give it
this effect.
I added a
gravestone and
computer and
painted them
half black half
white.I added the famous
theatre masks to fit the
black and white theme.
I added a silhouette
of a girl in white to
the right
I added a
black
silhouette of a
girl to the right
I found a knife,
coloured it
black and
placed it in
character B’s
hand to make it
look like it
belonged there
I added one
paragraph in line
with the grave
about death as it
fit the image.
I repeated the
same theme-
having something
based around
technology written.
I wrote
something
about drama
near the
theatre masks.
I wrote
something
about the
theme of the
show here.
10. Process magazine interview
I attempted to use
the paint tool to
make it look like
the bar was
dripping with paint,
however, I didn’t do
a good job.
I found an
image of paint
dripping on
google,
removed the
white an
painted it
purple.
I added a
darker purple
bar for the
title at the
top using the
selection and
paint tool. It
took me a
while to
decide on the
colour
however.
I used the same technique as the
main logo to make the title all
different shades of pastel colours.
I edited the purple bar
so it fit the title size.
I added another darker purple bar an put a small
expletory sentence to catch the reader’s eye.
I wanted the questions to
seem like normal
questions you’d find in
any interview.
On the
contrast, I
wanted the
answers to
be very
weird and
unsettling
I wanted to clearly
show the audience
that there was
something wrong
with the producer to
put them on edge
about the show.
I also wanted the
audience to
understand that the
second character
was viewed as alive.
I wanted the audience to question
what was going on, and giving vague
and confusing answers is perfect
Finally, I wanted to at some point
explain the glitch effects seen
throughout the work.
11. Process magazine back coverI used a plain red
background at first,
which I later
changed to be
multiple colours
(not pictured)
I added dots and
used the paint
tool to make
them different
colours
I used the
liquefy tool to
move the dots
around and
create his wave
effect
I added a price at the
top left and a barcode
with a hidden message
at the bottom left.
I added a small bit of text asking to
subscribe to remind people that it’s a
magazine and I added a picture of my
other magazine, as magazines sometimes
put their last/next article.
I added more text, as I
thought it looked too
plain, so I decided that
since magazines
sometimes had games
for the readers I would
do something similar.
I added two pictures
of two similar shows
(they both feature
time travel) as a sort
of voting system for
the audience to
decide.
12. Process websiteI took a
screenshot
of my
computer
monitor on a
blank page
I used the
paint tool
to make
the middle
completely
white
I added a green bar
using the paint tool and
added a darker shade
to the sides. I found a
pixelated font on a font
website, used the word
game and then painted
it blue and I found a
good font for query on
Photoshop.
I added a
layout
template
using the
paint and
selection
tool
I painted the
templates
completely
in
I wanted a
recognizable
film character
so I chose
deadpool, and
I found the
font on a font
website and
painted it
green.
I wanted recognizable
characters from a video
game and the first
characters that came to
mind were Mario and Luigi,
so I found transparent
pictures of them and placed
them on either side of the
box.
I added Yoshi to the
middle and the
pixelated font
painted blue to the
top
I added 2
games with
similar art
styles to the
top left and
bottom right
I added 2 old and
popular to the top right
and bottom left
I added question
marks I found on
google and painted
them different
shades of green
I found a good
text on a font
website and
painted it
green
