1. Level Design Workflow
Here is an example of a Level Design workflow and how we can help people understand our
work and what the thought process was during, it is important to mention KEY TERMS AND
VOCABULARY related to games design and also EXPLAIN EVERY THOUGHT AND DETAIL on
your decisions and development.
Idea
My Idea was to make a space 2d shooter game I decided to make the rocket ship for my
game and also the background that I used was stars so it made it look really good for my
game this is an idea that I decided to do which made my game really good.
Visualisation / Idea
My visualisation was for me to make a space game the visualisation came from space
invaders because of the space in that but also from space movies like alien 3 or Prometheus
this is what made me make my 2d space shooter game which I got inspired by to make it.
Planning and Execution
This I what I planned to put in my game this is the background that I am using for my game
which as you can see the stars and also the space theme.
Blocking
Going into you chosen Game Engine and blocking out the design, looking at the overall
layout and seeing the imperfections in the Planning stage and adjusting, this is also to make
sure your design works!
When I was looking at my game I was choosing to adjust what I needed to do within my
game so I adjusted the rocket ship with the flame
2. Detail
Adding in the details and assets into your level and placing them to see if it makes the
aesthetics of the level look and feel ok, does it feel enjoyable etc, this is where a testing
stage would start on your design.
Final Testing
This would be testing to make sure everything in your design works ok, does it reference
your first design well? Does it feel enjoyable? What did you take from the reference pictures
and did your layout change? EVALUATE and review your design while testing, your through
processes while testing etc.
