Initial Plans

Initial Reaction
• My first initial thoughts is that I want to make an endless
runner game similar to jetpack joyride. The game will include
a small character getting chased by another. The character will
have to jump over obstacles and will be able to collect power
ups along the way. I am thinking along the lines of a police
chase as this will build up anticipation and keep the user
playing on.
• I am good at idea generation as I am quite a creative person
therefore I am excited to do this project as I can expand and
develop different ideas.
• I feel this idea would work well as I can make it look very
clean and professional and it also would not be too difficult to
make. However, saying that it also wouldn’t be easy as there
are a few complex features and skills needed to make a game
like this.

Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood
In the images I have collected, there is normally quite a lot of vibrancy especially in
the games I have selected. This is because the designer of each game wants the
players attention to be on the game and the vibrant colours do this perfectly. If there
is any text, it is bold. This is so it stands out to the user as they need to be able to
read whilst playing the game. However, it also fits in with the theme of the game
meaning that it doesn’t distract the player.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product as I have seen what features and
techniques other game designers use on their games. For example, the use of bold
colours and theming. From this, I can see what features work and what don’t
therefore designing the best possible game I can make. From the games I chose, I can
see how to create good designs whilst using pixels. This is helpful as it will allow me
to have something to go off as I am trying to generate ideas of character and scene
designs etc.
