 it is the defence organisation.
has 8 manufacturer units
product ranges like Defense Communication, Radar's, Optical &
Opto-electronics, etc.
 Established its own electron valve manufacturing facility
 has nurtured and built a strong in-house R&D base.
 Each unit has its own R&D Division to bring out new products.
 About 70% of BEL's products are of in-house design.
 BEL has won a number of national and international awards for
Productivity, Quality,etc.

INTRODUCTION OF RADAR
( ra d i o d e t e c t i o n a n d ra n g i n g )
 Radar is a system that uses radio waves to detect, determine
the distance or speed of object.
Principle: doppler effect
Basic radar sends EM wave which is received after reflecting from
taget and processed to determine speed & distance of object.
BASIC RADAR SYSTEM:
RADAR EQUATION
Pr= received power
Pt=transmitted power
G= gain of transmitted anteena
Ar= effective aperture of receiving antenna
σ = scattering cofficient
F= pattern propagation factor

APPLICATION OF SRE
Air traffic control uses radar to track planes both
on the ground and in the air, and also to guide planes in
for smooth landings.
Police use it to detect the speed of passing motorists.
NASA uses radar to map the Earth and other planets, to
track satellites and space debris and to help with things
like docking and maneuvering.
The military uses it to detect the enemy and to guide weapons.
