Analysis Of The Movie Spike Lee
Spike Lee is an Afro American director who has developed more fame and importance in the last 20
years. He portrays his stories in a way that nothing is fictitious and many of them are written about
some real events. Lee has co produced many of his films and has acted in some small roles within
them. According to IMDb (2016), Lee s work consists of: 26 films, 30 television programs, 45
commercials, 15 short films, starred in several films, and was a producer and writer of many other
works. Although, his films are somewhat irregular in terms of color palettes, shots, and exposition.
Regarding the plot, he is considered a drama director. Also, his works always emphasize action and
occasionally comedy.
Based on all the above, Lee s career will be analyzed from his early work in the film industry, his
career, and some of his most notable and recognized works.
For example, in many of the films I have seen so far, Spike Lee tends to substantiate his works in
many cultural, social, and political problems: besides the racism suffered by many African Americans
in the United States mainly. Lee became a director of promise with his first long film, She has to have
it (1986), according to McGowan (2014). This film was shot in around two weeks and cost around
$175,000 to make, but grossed more than $7 million, becoming in one of the most profitable films
created in 1986. Lee often takes a critical look at race relations, political problems, crime, and
violence. His film Do the

Summary Of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire By Frances...
Frances Perkins came from a wealthy family in Maine that lived a traditional Yankee lifestyle. From
her mother, she learned at a young age to be stingy with money, Ernest, and brutally honest. In 1902,
she attended Mount Holyoke College where she used her glibness to bearly get by. Frances suffered
the most in Latin and Chemistry and was forced by her professors, Ester Van Dieman and Nellie
Goldthwaite respectively, to excel in them. Instead of focusing on improving her strengths, Frances
professors sought to improve her weaknesses; Especially her moral weaknesses. This was done with
the idea in mind that if she were to overcome her shortcomings she would be able to conquer anything
life threw at her. After graduation Frances struggled to find something meaningful to do with her life;
That is the tragedy of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. Having witnessed the tragedy first hand,
and listening to the emotional speech of Russian immigrant, Rose Schneiderman, the representative of
those that perished in the fire, Frances set out to change the laws of labor rights all over the country.
Frances Perkins was responsible for aiding the reconstruction of labor protection laws. She was placed
by Governor Al Smith in the Industrial Commission where she traveled to factory towns all over the
country and involved herself the in the hostile strikes and disorderly disputes between workers and
their higher ups; Trying to resolve any injustices that she saw fit to tackle.

The Concepts Of Living In The Age Of The Customer
There is no doubt which we are living in The Age of the Customer (Datasciencecentral.com, 2017).
Consumers all over the globe are now digitally empowered, and they have the power to determine

Newer BI deployments execute methodologies for gauging ROI and defining the benefit of BI efforts
(Datasciencecentral.com, 2017).
There is incompetence in communication and alignment between IT and business teams

Failure to precisely control operational contingency, fix latency difficulties and maintain scalability.
While BI is intended to change all of these, traditional BI is falling behind (Datasciencecentral.com,

The challenge with platform migration and combination (Datasciencecentral.com, 2017).
Bad data quality. If data mining is quick and comprehensive, if the condition of the data is not relevant

businesses to flourish and thrive in today s market? Consider that big data gives organizations whole

Aspects Of Arctic Sovereignty
Environmental Aspects of Arctic Sovereignty 1. Introduction The Arctic has the world s largest unused
source of oil and it is getting international attention because of its extremely value resources
(Crawford, Hanson Runnalls, 2008). According to Digman (2011) the Arctic s commercial interest
mostly rely on drilling, mining and transportation development. However, Arctic s development not
only will lead to economical profits but also will bring international conflicts. Due to this, a
Sovereignty by the five Arctic s coastal countries such as Canada, Denmark, Norway, Russia and
United States is essential. Moreover, Arctic s climate change is happening right now due to human
induced factors (Isted, 2009) and Arctic s development will lead to environmental damage (Johnston,
2012). The effects of this combination will have significant global consequences and could end in an
environmental catastrophe (Crawford et al., 2008). The purpose of this report is to discuss the Arctic s
resources and developments as well as the environmental impacts of the Arctic s development and
climate change. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Digman (2011) concludes that melting permafrost will release a large volume of carbon to the sea
water; this will directly impact Arctic s fauna and flora. As a result, animal s distribution, range and
diversity will drastically change that some animal species may face extinction (Isted, 2009). However,
regardless of this situation, economic activities are increasing due to global warming (Isted, 2009)
because some countries consider the Arctic s melting ice an development opportunity (Smith, 2010).
Therefore, Crawford et al. (2008) argue that changing climate is making Arctic sovereignty a more
pressing and consequential issue and strategies are needed for the Arctic s environmental

Apple Pay Is A Method Of Payment Using Mobile And Virtual...
Abstract: Apple Pay is a method of payment using mobile and virtual wallet provided by Apple Inc
and was launched in 2014. It enables the users to make payments using smartphones like iPhone 6, 6
Plus, 6S and 6S Plus, and Apple Watch compatible devices. It digitizes and replaces the need of credit
or debit card and their usual chip and PIN or magnetic stripe method for transactions. Although similar
technologies have been around for a while, it s lacking the broad infrastructure support to make the
mainstream mode of payment. Introduction: Apple Pay is similar to other contactless payments
already being used since 2011 when Research In Motion was certified by MasterCard Worldwide.
Though it s gaining users, at present only about 14% of US households have linked a card to Apple
Pay, increased just a few percentage from the 11% the company reported at the beginning of 2015.
Although Apple has managed to get a big portion of major retail and restaurant chains to integrate
Apple Pay method, it s the small businesses and regional markets that contributes to the significant
number of purchases, which means in order to impact the global payment method and make this
innovation the future, Apple needs to work with both the customers and the global businesses and
facilitate the establishment of the infrastructure that will make it easier to use it in daily basis.
Methodology: To perform a contactless payment, users hold their pre authorised i device against a
payment terminal and

Cancer Immunology
Cancer: Cancer can be defining as disease condition in which cell divide and proliferate
uncontrollably bypassing the normal rules of cell division. It is characterized by a progression of
changes on cellular and genetic level that ultimately reprogram a cell to undergo uncontrolled cell
division, thus forming a malignant mass.
Carcinogenesis:
Cancers consist of single clones or several clones of cells that are capable of partially (benign tumor)
or fully (malignant cancer) independent growth in the host. The essence of carcinogenesis is the
activation (deregulation) of genes that regulate cell growth via bypassing the host s regulatory circuits.

Immunotherapy of virus associated cancers can be directed against viral antigens vital for viral
replication or growth. The human papillomavirus (HPV) E6 and E7 proteins interfere with normal cell
cycle regulation and are required for the viral life cycle.
Examples of tumer antigen are
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG): A glycoprotein hormone produced during pregnancy. Some
cancerous tumors produce this hormone; therefore, elevated levels measured when the patient is not
pregnant can lead to a cancer diagnosis.
Alpha Fetoprotein (AFP): Major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac and the liver during fetal
development The human fetus has the highest amount of AFP levels found in humans. Normal adult
levels are usually achieved by the age of 8 to 12 months. The function of AFP in adults is unknown;
however, in fetus it binds estradiol to prevent the transport of this hormone across the placenta.
Prostate Specific Antigen: Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by cells of the
prostate gland called a biological marker or a tumor marker. It is normal for men to have a low level of
PSA in their blood; however, prostate cancer or benign (not cancerous) conditions can increase a man
s PSA level.

The Battle of Fredricksburg Essay
The Battle of Fredricksburg In the next pages I will explain why Fredericksburg was such a tragedy.
Why it was a big morale booster for the South, but a disappointment for the North? It all started in the
year 1862. General George McCellen currently controls the army of the Potomac. When it was
determined that McCellen was a bad general, in December of 1862 he was replaced with General
Ambrose Burnside. Within a week, Burnside decided on a campaign to the Southern capitol,
Richmond. He told his plans to Lincoln and Lincoln approved, but told Burnside the only way for a
win was to move quickly. Burnside split his group into three grand divisions, each with two corps.

Burnside had Generals Sumner and Hooker as his help. Burnside, Sumner, and Hooker were on one
side of the railroad with 10 regiments and on the other side of the railroad was General Franklin with
eight regiments. Burnside also had one regiment of engineers to build the pontoons to cross the river.
(See Map 1) While Burnside had been waiting for two weeks he saw how the Confederates were
positioned; even though the Confederates had the advantage he still believed he could win. The night
before Burnside was going to start building the pontoons, he sent a message to Lincoln saying, We
hope to succeed. So, on the night of Wednesday, December 10, 1862, the engineers started to build the
pontoons. However, another general from the South, General Will Barkslade, was right above the area
where the engineers were and whenever a soldier went to check on the progress of the pontoons, the
Confederates would shoot at them. Now that everything was off schedule, Burnside knew that the
Confederate general was getting ready to attack. So, Burnside ordered Brigadier General Henry to
take 147 heavy caliber guns and shoot at the Confederates at Stafford Heights. The shooting lasted for
an hour. During that hour, 70 solid shots were fired a minute and that firing destroyed the town of
Fredericksburg instead of the Confederates. General Barksdale was still there to intercept the bridge
builders and troops crossing the bridges. When Barksdale sent a

The Stranger By Simmel
Simmel defines the stranger , as the man who comes today and stays tomorrow . The stranger is seen
as an element of the group that provides a role that no other member of the group can play. Thus the
stranger can obtain objectivity that members of the group cannot, and has freedom. The stranger is
free from everyone and everything because he/she is impartial, since he/she does not know anyone on
a personal level. This leads to trust in the stranger because individuals know the stranger does not
know anyone close to them to reveal personal information. Simmel also defines the stranger as the
union of closeness and remoteness meaning that the ones who are physically close to us are mentally
far away, and the ones who are remote to us are in contrast near. The stranger is close to us by general
observations and far from us because these general observations can apply to anyone. The stranger is
also mobile making it easy to move between social groups. Simmel s analysis of the stranger

He talks about how love may seem to be a special one of kind love, but it is quite the contrast. Love
would have still been found and it would have been the same feeling, although with a different person.
Thus, Simmel is saying that love is universal and relationships are general to the population, but I
have to disagree with what he is saying. I just fell in love for the first time and I do not think I could
find the same kind of love anywhere else. I do not believe that I could find the same exact feelings I
have with my boyfriend with another man. It s not to say that I could not fall in love again, but it just

The Effect Of Stock Market On Gdp Growth
Extensive amount of studies have been undertaken to examine the effect of stock market on GDP
growth. Some of the studies on this topic are Demirguc Kunt and Levine (1995), Levine and Zervos
(1993, 1995, 1998) etc. In theory well developed stock market should enduce saving and efficiently
allocate capital to productive investments which would later lead to increase in the rate of real output.
Stock markets contribute to accumulation of domestic savings by enhancing the scope of financial
instruments available to savers and investors trough diversification of their portfolios. Dailami and
Aktin (1990) think stock markets provide important source of capital investment at low cost which
should serve as an obvious benefit for the economy in general. In developed economies with
developed stock markets share ownership provides individuals with probably the most liquid means of
sharing the risks and benefits of investing in promising projects. The main advantage of liquid stock
market is that it provides investors to cope with liquididy risk by allowing participants hit by
illiquidity constraints to sell their stakes to othe participants who at the time do not suffer form the
same problem. These transactions are done in real time with frictions in the market being at the
minimum. The ending result of this process is that capital is not prematurely withdrawn form firms to
meet short term liquidity need. It is just changing hands. Stock markets also play an important role in

Xaverian Values Analysis
The Xaverian values are an integral piece of the mission of Good Counsel and, ideally, of its students
as well. These values are: humility, simplicity, compassion, zeal, and trust. Throughout my service,
some which was completed to fulfill the school requirement and some which was not, and any
leadership opportunities I participated in, I was, at the time unknowingly, striving to fulfill these
values. To truly serve, or to truly lead, the understanding and application of these values is crucial. A
specific instance of leadership and service in which my demonstration of these values is evident was
my volunteer work with Easter Seals. I was a respite volunteer with Easter Seals. This meant that I
worked one on one with disabled children from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I demonstrated this value while volunteering with Easter Seals by freeing the lives of the parents of
children who participated in the respite trips from a good deal of complexity. Through volunteering
with this organization, as a whole, we were able to alleviate complexity and simplify, if only for a
while, the lives of these parents so that they were able to accomplish other things or take a much
needed break. This opportunity to participate as a volunteer on respite trips led to think about and later
attempt to display the Xaverian value of humility. Being a part of an organization like this one
prompted me to consider that I had a part in it, but that I was by no means the most important part.
Realizing this led to the demonstration of this value by taking care to fulfill my responsibilities to the
best of my abilities while also keeping in mind that I was making a difference but I was not the
deciding factor and that that was okay. Compassion is a Xaverian value that I found fairly easy to
demonstrate in the context of Easter Seals. One of the reasons I decided to volunteer with this
organization was the fact that it helped people that I had a huge amount of sympathy for and that I
wanted to help. I was able to help make the lives of the families who participated in the respite trips
better and easier, for the kids on the trips by giving them the chance to experience things they might
not otherwise have had the chance to and for the parents by allowing them the time to accomplish
other things or some much needed time to recharge. This service also presented me with the
opportunity to display the Xaverian value of zeal. Easter Seals serves a cause that I believe in and
volunteering with them allows me to also serve this cause and to do so with fervor. This fervor is what
motivated me to continue to volunteer there and to make sure that every time I did, my responsibilities

The Teaching Style Of Walt Whitman
Beliefs and teaching styles have been developed throughout the years, every year that it has been
passed down it has continually changed from person to person, some changes are subtle while others
are very drastic changes to something that was once so simple. Surely Christ was a teacher of sorts,
but Socrates is a very good start to all of this, a great Greek philosopher with many great ideas that
were later passed to Plato, who wrote what we now call Apology, a result of the trial that Socrates
went through in the days of Ancient Greece. This whole process has been continuing for years and
years and even still continues today into the modern day as teachers strive to find the best methods to
teach their students, who are some points can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He brings forth the idea that we need to get to a point where we no longer need the teacher so that we
are able to teach ourselves what others are not capable of teaching us. Is the need of a teacher true, or
is it just another challenge that society has set up for us to overcome? In a passage that many like to
call, Destroy the Teacher , Whitman quotes, He most honors my style who learns under it to destroy
the teacher. Perhaps, in some ways, it is better to destroy the teacher and to begin learning by
ourselves and experiencing everything for ourselves, after all, experiences are better than just sitting a
classroom and attempting to soak the information up like a sponge. When being self taught, there is
more information present to the person, while being in a classroom would provide learning with some
restrictions, well, maybe a lot of restrictions. Whitman himself was a teacher, his influence has spread
to many individuals and Janice Trecker in her paper reports, The messianic Walt Whitman of the poem
had a message that he clearly believed was vital, and, in fact, the form he chose proves highly
effective as a teaching device. Whether Whitman would ve seen himself as a teacher or not is entirely
a mystery because we are unable to ask him how he thought of himself, but even if he would ve liked
it, he was a good teacher to future writers.
The next piece needed to critique Whitman s pedagogy properly is the real meaning behind the form
of government that we

E Voting And Its Effect On Voting
Introduction
E voting is an e government concept that uses the Internet to allow people to vote. The use of e voting
is usually applied by countries and companies. In companies, this use of e voting can be used in
shareholder meetings or other instances where it is not physically possible for all individuals with a
vote to be present.
E voting is a new concept that has recently been used by countries that are not willing to dedicate the
necessary funds to provide paper votes. The use of e voting eliminates the use of paper and ensures
that voter turnout will be higher as it will eliminate issues with travelling to the voting venue and
waiting in any lines that may occur. In addition, the process of tallying votes will be far faster since e
voting will eliminate the manual counting of votes as well as issues such as the vote counting machine
malfunctioning. E votes will be counted using software designed to tally votes.
The concept of e voting has been analyzed to ensure that it is a fair process. The fairness of this new
type of voting will be critical to its acceptance. However, there is a portion of the population which
feels that the system can be easily manipulated and argue that the Internet is vulnerable to hacker
attacks, something that can lead to an invalid and unfair result. With advanced technology, it should be
relatively easy for IT experts to devise ways that will ensure that the system will not be hacked.

American Dream Discrimination
Is the American Dream achievable of everyone? For most people the American Dream is having a nice
house, a good school for their kids to go to and a stable job. For people born into money they have
greater opportunities, and a better chance to do well in life. Minorities may find it more difficult to
achieve the American dream because of them being ignored, forgotten, being denied college
opportunities and being discriminated.
Kids that grow up poor, and in dangerous areas are very easily forgotten and ignored by the
government. Most attend horrible schools and are not able to learn and eventually develop problems
whether it be learning or behavioral problems. They are quickly written off as lost causes and are left
to parish in their struggle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are often seen as stupid or lazy etc. because of their inability to find work. Kids get made fun of
at school for being poor, or not having the newest things, parents of the kids are ridiculed and seen as
bad parents for not being able to provide above and beyond what their kid needs. Poverty and
discrimination are linked. Discrimination based on ethnicity, race or gender directly influences
economic opportunity through a complex set of institutional effects in families, schools and work
settings. www.psysr.org (psysr poverty and discrimination pages). Poverty stricken families are
discriminated against all the time, and in many different ways. This shows how unfair society is
against people who struggle economically. This is because people who are poor are looked down upon
like they do not matter, and are seen as charity cases. Discrimination against the poor, or people of
different classes is called classism. Classism is when someone is treated differently because of their
class, or perceived class. Classism is similar in many ways to racism, sexism, and other forms of
oppression. www.classism.org (classism/ about class). Classism is a very real thing in the world. It is
easy for people to assume that someone is poor and treat them like they are less than them because of
them being poor. This shows that the lower class can and are discriminated because of their
socioeconomic status, they are ridiculed and cut down because of it. Sometimes classism flows from
people on the street to even law enforcement. Research indicates that people living in poverty are
subjected increasingly and disproportionately to a range of administrative and legal policy measures
that seek to criminalize, penalize, segregate, and surveil them because of their situation. Such
measures include laws that explicitly target people living in poverty (e.g., laws prohibiting vagrancy,
begging and panhandling), laws and

spiritually to those less fortunate and lack in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. This experience has

Comparing Anton Chekhov s Romeo And Juliet
Not only Creasman s argument validates Gurov s behavioral transition, but also Robert Fulford, in his
elaborated article agrees when he explains ... it was only now, when [Gurov] s hair had turned grey,
that [Gurov] had fallen in love properly, in the way that one should do for the first time in his life
(339). Thus clearly shows how Gurov s character changes from being a selfish womanizer in to a real
time Romeo. As a matter of fact the critics did not only argue the behavioral or emotional changes of
the character, but also they discussed what significant event or action leads the characters to the
change. In his article, Creasman in support to his theory of Gurov s second flight suggests [Gurov s]
sudden awareness of the grossness and banality of life in Moscow (258), might have led him compare
with the time he spent with Anna. As a result, it contributed to the change in his mood and behavior.
Perhaps there is more reason why Gurov is the way he is. At the beginning of the story, the speaker

pressure that kids succumb to on a day to day basis. Corey Matthews feels the pressure but, he
manages to remain ethical episode after episode. In the episode where he s offered drugs for the first

to say NO. Not simply by saying no and that s it, but by having to ponder on the question and actually
letting the audience contemplate his adjudication (Boy meets world 1993). That s the reason why a

The Conduct of British Generals in World War One Essay
The Conduct of British Generals in World War One In 1914 the First World War, or the Great War,
broke out in Europe. It involved the two main alliances of Europe at the time; one alliance was the
triple entente with Germany, Austro Hungary and Serbia, the other alliance, the triple alliances, had
Britain, France and Russia creating a ring of steel around Germany. This war of attrition was to take
the lives of 8.5 million combatants and would change the way warfare was conducted and portrayed
forever, it would involve 65 million men from 30 countries around the globe and Russia and America
would emerge as the two great superpowers of the 20th century. After the war there would be great

During the battle of Verdun British artillery started to fire upon British infantry during an attack
causing heavy casualties. These were all seen as foolish acts and it was shown, and still is shown, in
various pieces of literature. In source C it shows the enormity of the killing at the Somme and the
differences in losses between the two sides. It was written by John keegan, who is a qualified historian
and there shouldn t be any reason for bias on his part and in this source he does contain many facts to
support his views so it is quite a reliable source. On the other hand the generals could not have been
tactically inept and blind to the minimal gains that some attacks were having because as the war
progressed new tactics and innovative ways of attacking were brought to the front line and used with
great effect. Ideas like the rolling barrage where men would creep behind shells that were continually
firing while inching forward, another idea was night attacks where men would attack enemy positions

The Religious Views Of Women s Right
Introduction
Women s right is a controversial and sensitive topic in today s society. Gender inequality has been a
great issue for decades and is closely related to the harmony of the society as well as the development
of human civilization. Religion, as one of the most significant products of human civilization, is
extraordinary influential in guiding people s beliefs and thoughts. Therefore, different religious views
of women s rights play big roles in building people s conceptions. Among the religions, Islam, as a
religion with over half a billion women believers and a religion dominant in approximately 45
countries, seems to be the most controversial religion upon this topic. A lot of scholars, both advocates
and opponents towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meanwhile, historical influence, cultural differences in various countries and regions, as well as
personal quality are inevitable factors towards this issue. The goal of the paper is to study the
influence of Islam on women s rights based on various factors as objectively as possible.
Analysis of Religious Text
Just as people s acknowledgment, religious people regard sacred texts and religious laws as the
guidance of their thoughts and deeds. For Muslims, the Qur an, Hadith, as well as Islamic law thus
play the roles to guide Muslims. It seems that injustice to Muslim women are widespread in actual
life. However, once we get to the Qur an, we could find that God s justice as well as compassion
towards women are reflected throughout this noblest text of Islam. Dr. Hassan, as a Muslim woman
and a scholar of Islam, devotes her career in advocating for Muslim women. According to her analysis
of Qur an, it promoted religious and social equality and justice between men and women and that what
the Qur an basically aimed at was the removal of certain abuses to which women were subjected.
1(Hassan) In this case, how might the discrepancy between Islamic ideals and actual practice has
come about? Hassan provides us one possible explanation: patriarchalism empowered Muslim men to
interpret these Islamic texts as well as Islamic tradition. Therefore, Muslim men were able to define

Bob Ewell is a wretched, two faced, conniving most unworthy person to have the gift of life in all of

that he beat his daughter Mayella and then raped her; when in in reality Bob Ewell is the one who beat

The Pros And Cons Of Bilingual Education
I support bilingual education because it can be an effective pathway for foreign language speakers to
learn the English language. I am in favor of the two way immersion method as a bilingual education
application in the classroom. According to Hadi Tabassum, Two way immersion (TWI) bilingual
education is an integrated language immersion program in which students who speak a majority
language, such as English, study and learn together in the same classroom with students who speak a
minority language....Both the language majority and language minority students learn the two
languages simultaneously and acquire academic content knowledge through both L1 (English) and L2
(Spanish, Korean, etc.). Dual immersion education is another term used more often to describe TWI
bilingual programs but both terms signify the same type of bilingual education program in which two
distinct sociolinguistic student groups are fully immersed in learning both the majority and minority
language across all content areas and within the same classroom setting. (4). As one can imagine, it
can be very difficult to learn a completely new language in a short period of time, therefore, the two
way immersion method is a great way for students to learn a new language, while still being able to
communicate in their primary tongue and not being forced to acquire new knowledge without the
ability to communicate effectively in the new language being learned.
Hadi Tabassum also states that, The fundamental aim

How Trap Is A Sport That I Have Been Enjoyed For Over Four...
Trap is a sport that I have been enjoying for over four years. Learning more about it for the purpose of
this research paper is something that was enjoyable. This paper will cover the history of the sport,
some of the equipment and entry costs involved, and provide some highlights of basic gun safety
required for any trap shooter.
Trap shooting began in the U.S. around 1825. Shooters typically used shotguns to fire at targets
thrown, and later launched, into the air. The first U.S. recorded trap match was conducted in
Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1931. These early shooting competitions used live birds for the targets, as had
been the history in Europe where the sport originated. America, however, led the way in developing
artificial targets for trap competitions. The first targets were glass balls that contained feathers. The
greatest trap shooters of the 19th century included Adam Bogardus, Ira Paine and Annie Oakley. In a
one day exhibition, Bogardus broke 5,681 glass balls before missing, and Oakley shot 4,722 of 5,000
glass balls released. In pistol, the first recorded match was in 1860 and it was a duel between two men
who shot nine inch China plates from a distance of 100 feet. The winner broke 11 out of 15 plates. In
1865, Buffalo Bill Cody produced shooting pistol exhibitions, which further promoted the sport of
shooting throughout the rest of the United States.
Clay targets, sometimes called pigeons, became popular between 1910 and 1915 when skeet shooting

Teenage Pregnancy Rates And The United States
Even though teenage pregnancy rates have decreased in the U.S. in recent years, the rates are far
behind European countries. Studies have shown that U.S. teenagers have (a) high rates of sexual
intercourse at a younger age, (b) high rates of sex without contraceptives, (c) high rates of pregnancy,
(d) and high number of multiple sex partners in comparison to European countries like Sweden,
France, Netherland (Bell, 2009).
One of the main reasons for high rates of teenage pregnancy in the U.S. is the continuation of
ineffective abstinence based education (Bell, 2009) and not allowing teenagers to make abortion
related decisions. In the U.S. Eighty two percent of the teenage pregnancy is unintended and 37 % of
total unintended pregnancies result in abortion. Teenagers choose to abort babies because of shame,
staying focused on career, unstable financial status to support babies and not getting emotional and
economic support from parents. Twenty two percent of pregnant teenagers choose not to tell their
parents (ACLU, 2001).
Teen Pregnancy Prevention Intervention (TPPI) was initiated with the objective of reaching teenagers
to create awareness and help them make safe sex choices and prevent pregnancy through
comprehensive sex education. However, the policy of after school program has hindered in providing
effectiveness of sex education because most of the minority students are not able to participate since
they have to go to work and help their parents to support their family.

Reflection On Personal Conflict
Oxford defines Conflict as a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one.
The most recent conflict I had encountered was one that is related to my work. I currently work at an
IT company in Israel as an Office Manager. I have been working here for about two and a half years
and am pretty content with the job as I know all the loops and holes of the daily tasks that need to be
done. Recently, I have received an offer from another IT company, that would like to meet with me
and offer me a job at their company. I went to an interview with this other company and a day later
they told me that they were interested and would like to continue the hiring process with me.
That s when my personal conflict started. I had been working in a place that I liked not for over two
years, with nice conditions and friendly co workers. On the other hand, this other job is offering me a
higher salary than what I am making now, while my current job place has never offered to give me a
raise of any kind although I have been in situations in the company where I had to take on additional
tasks that were originally outside of my job description.
I will use the Ladder of Inference to try and understand my conflict and hopefully be able to decide
where it would be better for me to be in terms of a job place.
The ladder consists of seven steps: Reality and Facts, Selected Reality, Interpreted Reality,
Assumptions, Conclusions, Beliefs, Actions.

Persuasive Essay On Guns In Schools
Since 2013, there have been 306 school shootings in America. That is an average of one shooting per
week. The mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, located in Parkland, FL was
committed by nineteen year old, Nikolas Cruz. He was armed with an AR 15 and open fired in the
school, killing seventeen people and wounding several others. This is the deadliest school shooting
since the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. It s extremely
unfortunate to know that children are also victims of America s gun violence crisis, even while
attending school. It is even more unfortunate and frustrating to know that the National Rifle
Association (NRA) use school shootings like Parkland to encourage policies that allow guns in
schools. According to Everytownresearch, there is no evidence to validate the increased safety of
arming teachers in schools. As a future early childhood educator, I am against bringing guns into my
school and classroom. I hope this is not the change we take as a nation, because I believe students and
faculty members deserve more respect than this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s logical to employ more officers in schools, but it s illogical to arm teachers with guns. According
to the Harvard Injury Control Research Center, areas with more guns also result in more gun deaths.
In an active shooter emergency, professional police officers hit their intended targets less than twenty
percent of the time. Armed teachers will certainly have an even lower chance of hitting the active
shooter in an emergency. The people that are adamant about guns in schools need to understand that
the only arming a school needs is to be armed with more officers, social workers, counselors, and

A Leading Airline Group With Effective Security Systems...
A leading airline group with effective security systems and culture .
Qantas requires an organisational culture of behaviours that support its security vision, policies and
procedures. With direction from the Board, the airline has embarked on a journey to identify its
current security culture and develop a method to assess and improve the culture going forward. There
is little evidence to suggest that this has been accomplished elsewhere, particularly within aviation,
and the findings will play a key role in Qantas ability to influence regulators. The focus for this project
is on the Australian market and the 65% domestic market share, however there is evidence to suggest
that considerations will also need to be made in the new and growing Asian markets.
Qantas engaged PwC to assist them with this project. PwC consulted some 332 Qantas employees
including Executives to understand the desired future state for security culture, and a cross section of
Middle Management and the Frontline to establish the current state. Findings from Executive
conversations were largely consistent with what emerged as ideas for change from the Middle
Management and Frontline levels. Overarching themes encompassed the need for greater engagement
including collaboration and a clearer understanding as to how security culture fits into the broader
culture, specifically how security supports safety and is aligned to the brand values and desired
organisational behaviours. PwC also engaged an

The Characteristics Of The Public Sector
Introduction
Apple was founded on April 1st, 1971 in Cupertino, California. It is a celebrious company and highly
praised by consumers and it s critics for innovative technology; revolutionizing communication and
interaction as well as completing objectives whether for school, work or leisurely use. The company is
generally known for it s wide range of products from iPhones to MacBooks and many more. It is a
forerunner in the computer hardware, software and electronics industry.

Apple is an incorporation, meaning they have declared themselves as a corporate entity separate from
it s owners. I would recommend this type of business practice because of it s benefits. Some benefits
of having an incorporation include protection of the owner s assets against the companies liabilities,
the ability to raise the capital through the sales of stocks, a simplistic and effective transfer of
ownership to another party if necessary. Other benefits include getting a lower tax rate rather than on
personal income and not to mention, having the benefit of creating a protective bubble around the
company s shareholders, directors, and most importantly the company s owners. Hence, business
structure of Apple is highly favorable amongst many and would be a suitable recommendation.
B)Like many companies that are in one of the leading industries in the world, Apple is affected by
different business environments. Three types of environments they are affected by are their internal.
macro and micro environments. They are affected internally through a number of key components the
number of employees, to how they manage, as well the corporate culture of the company. Apple has
well over 100,000 employees. The company s current CEO, Tim Cook has a unique style to how he
operates. According to an excerpt from Duke University s Fuqua School of Business website, the

Summary Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett
Taylor Santiago
The title of this book is called The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The main characters in the story are two
maids named Aibileen and Minny. These two are important to the story taking on the roles of the help.
Aibileen is a 52 year old maid who has been taking care of other people s children since she was a
teenager. A few years prior to the book s beginning, Aibileen s son, Treelore, died. Her recent
employer s child she takes care of and her love for her son is what convinced her to take the step to
have her experiences published even though she was skeptic. Minny is a sassy maid who is known for
talking back to her employers. She is very cautious about who she lets in her life because of her home
life. She had her concerns about the book being published as well. The protagonist in the story is
named Eugenia AKA Skeeter . Skeeter is a 22 year old college graduate who wants nothing more than
to be a writer. Her writing career kicks off because she published an anonymous book featuring her
point of view on how the white people act around the help and the experiences of African American
maids with their white employers. The significance of the time period being in the 1960 s is that
during this time period, there was a lot of segregation still going on. It was symbolic that Skeeter
treated the maids like human beings due to the high amount of discrimination in this time period. This

Picasso Vs Goya
Pablo Picasso and Francisco José de Goya were two artists that lived in completely different time
periods and painted in very different styles. Goya painted frescos and court paintings while picasso
dabbled in cubism and surrealism. However, like most artists, they both went through many changes
and transitions throughout their lives as painters, and their desire to think outside the box and
experiment with techniques that had never been used before reveal similarities in their work that may
go unnoticed at first glance. When looking at the works of Goya and Picasso, one would be much
more likely to point out differences than similarities. Goya did a lot of frescos and court paintings.

Not only were they both considered modern artists, their work also took a rather unexpected turn
towards the end of their careers. Goya is considered the father of modern art. He took risks in his
paintings and decided not to paint in the classical style of the old masters from earlier centuries, and
Picasso also took many risks and painted in a very modern style. Picasso was even inspired by Goya s
work, and his painting, Massacre in Korea, was inspired by Goya s The Third of May. Not only did
they both experiment in their paintings, these artists also both went through a rough period in their
lives that had a big effect in their style of painting. Picasso s blue period reflected his sadness after his
friend s death, and all of his paintings during this time used blue and other muted colors. Goya s black
paintings, a series of fourteen pieces from his last years of life, also reflected a negative change in his
life. These paintings were much darker and more depressing than his older paintings. The disturbing
images in these paintings are thought to have been evoked from his fear of insanity and bleak outlook

Examples Of Allegory In The Devil And Tom Walker
The Devil and Tom Walker Allegory Throughout the history of literature there have been many
prominent and robust allegories published. The Devil and Tom Walker is a short story written by
Washington Irving.
An allegory can be represented as a story, poem, or essay that can be picked apart to reveal a hidden
meaning, usually a moral or political one. Many renowned allegories written throughout time contain
an essential ingredient, symbolism. Symbolism uses images and indirect suggestions to express
mystical ideas, emotions, and states of mind. In an allegory like The Devil and Tom Walker the
fantastic elements are real in the sense that they represent something else (Piedmont Marton 55). The
story of The Devil and Tom Walker is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the everyday and small temptations we face entail minimum consequences. In the case of
Tom Walker, he meets the devil known as Old Scratch . In Many stories that contain the devil, the
devil represents temptation; the story of Tom Walker is no different. Tom s interactions with Old
Scratch illustrate just how disastrous greed and temptation can be. The devil identifies Tom s
weakness of greed and tempts him with the thing Walker craves most in life, wealth. It is the Devil s
usual place in literature to tempt other characters, often by providing some hapless character a deal too
good to refuse (Wilson 50). Old Scratch uses Kidd the pirate s treasure as bait to reel Tom in, and once
he got him hooked, there was no return for Tom. Old Scratch exploits Tom s weakness to the point of
complete devotion of Tom s soul to him. Temptation is usually fueled by an accomplice, and in The
Devil and Tom Walker it is greed and the desire for power. The devil also uses the death of Tom s wife
to anchor Tom into finalizing the deal. Ultimately, temptation is what gets Tom Walker killed at the
end of the story. If Tom were to put down his urges for mass amounts of wealth in the wrong way, his
wife would have lived and he would also not have had his soul taken away from him in the end. With
that being said, Old Scratch is the symbolic representation of temptation in the story of The Devil and

Wide Sargasso Sea, and Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, identity and insanity are presented as
connecting themes through symbols that emphasize societal expectations, conflict between race,

order to encapsulate Antoinette s identity. Antoinette being Creole is a mixture between two cultures
leaving her separated from society, the flowers being both living and dead represents Antoinette being
both white and west Indie. Another aspect of this symbolism is that Antoinette is also between life and
death; she is a living human being, but the suffering she has endured leads to her desire for death

Similarities Between Christianity And Christianity
The book of Genesis chapter 17 verses 20 and 21 in the Holy Bible state My covenant I will establish
with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year. When he had finished speaking with
Abraham, God went up from him . This covenant between God and Abraham would plant the seeds of
Judaism and Christianity; it prophesized a great nation who would be the descendants of Abraham and
Isaac This nation of people would be called the Jews, and with the crucifixion of Jesus this nation
would become fractured into Jews and Christians. This would lead to cause contention and religions
confusion for thousands of years Judaism and Christianity are both monotheistic religions that have
similar core values and principles; however despite these similarities there are differences in practice
and traditions that have caused ethnic and religious conflicts that often overshadows their connection.
Historical events such as the expulsion of Jews due to religious persecution in European countries like
England, France, and Spain in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries set the stage for the greatest example
of ethnic cleansing in human history, the Holocaust. The systematic death of millions of European
Jews by European Christians is by far the greatest example of how these small traditional and
interpretive differences in these two religions have had drastic consequences. Consequences like this
can be avoided through research and understanding of Judaism and Christianity

Shoguns In Japan
Impact of the Shoguns
Shogunate Japan was the time of the samurai, where Japan was divided into clans and followed a
leader called Shogun. This was the time from 1185 to 1868, from the time that the emperor was
defeated and Japan converged to military rule until the Tokugawa Shogunate fell. Clearly, the Shoguns
had a very significant impact on Japanese society throughout the hundreds of years that the Shoguns
ruled.
The impact of Shoguns on Japanese society can be demonstrated clearly when the social structure of
Shogunate Japan is analysed. Shogunate Japanese society was separated into three main sections, the
royal classes, the noble classes and the lower classes. Nearly all of the population was in the lower
classes and the least amount of the society was in the royal classes. These categories branch off into
Japanese classes. The classes in the royal category are the Emperor, Royal Family and Royal Priests.
Although these classes are considered the highest classes in Japan, authority was not a word that ...

  • 6. Apple Pay Is A Method Of Payment Using Mobile And Virtual... Abstract: Apple Pay is a method of payment using mobile and virtual wallet provided by Apple Inc and was launched in 2014. It enables the users to make payments using smartphones like iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S and 6S Plus, and Apple Watch compatible devices. It digitizes and replaces the need of credit or debit card and their usual chip and PIN or magnetic stripe method for transactions. Although similar technologies have been around for a while, it s lacking the broad infrastructure support to make the mainstream mode of payment. Introduction: Apple Pay is similar to other contactless payments already being used since 2011 when Research In Motion was certified by MasterCard Worldwide. Though it s gaining users, at present only about 14% of US households have linked a card to Apple Pay, increased just a few percentage from the 11% the company reported at the beginning of 2015. Although Apple has managed to get a big portion of major retail and restaurant chains to integrate Apple Pay method, it s the small businesses and regional markets that contributes to the significant number of purchases, which means in order to impact the global payment method and make this innovation the future, Apple needs to work with both the customers and the global businesses and facilitate the establishment of the infrastructure that will make it easier to use it in daily basis. Methodology: To perform a contactless payment, users hold their pre authorised i device against a payment terminal and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Battle of Fredricksburg Essay The Battle of Fredricksburg In the next pages I will explain why Fredericksburg was such a tragedy. Why it was a big morale booster for the South, but a disappointment for the North? It all started in the year 1862. General George McCellen currently controls the army of the Potomac. When it was determined that McCellen was a bad general, in December of 1862 he was replaced with General Ambrose Burnside. Within a week, Burnside decided on a campaign to the Southern capitol, Richmond. He told his plans to Lincoln and Lincoln approved, but told Burnside the only way for a win was to move quickly. Burnside split his group into three grand divisions, each with two corps. Burnside s division arrives first at Fredericksburg; when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Burnside had Generals Sumner and Hooker as his help. Burnside, Sumner, and Hooker were on one side of the railroad with 10 regiments and on the other side of the railroad was General Franklin with eight regiments. Burnside also had one regiment of engineers to build the pontoons to cross the river. (See Map 1) While Burnside had been waiting for two weeks he saw how the Confederates were positioned; even though the Confederates had the advantage he still believed he could win. The night before Burnside was going to start building the pontoons, he sent a message to Lincoln saying, We hope to succeed. So, on the night of Wednesday, December 10, 1862, the engineers started to build the pontoons. However, another general from the South, General Will Barkslade, was right above the area where the engineers were and whenever a soldier went to check on the progress of the pontoons, the Confederates would shoot at them. Now that everything was off schedule, Burnside knew that the Confederate general was getting ready to attack. So, Burnside ordered Brigadier General Henry to take 147 heavy caliber guns and shoot at the Confederates at Stafford Heights. The shooting lasted for an hour. During that hour, 70 solid shots were fired a minute and that firing destroyed the town of Fredericksburg instead of the Confederates. General Barksdale was still there to intercept the bridge builders and troops crossing the bridges. When Barksdale sent a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The stranger is seen as an element of the group that provides a role that no other member of the group can play. Thus the stranger can obtain objectivity that members of the group cannot, and has freedom. The stranger is free from everyone and everything because he/she is impartial, since he/she does not know anyone on a personal level. This leads to trust in the stranger because individuals know the stranger does not know anyone close to them to reveal personal information. Simmel also defines the stranger as the union of closeness and remoteness meaning that the ones who are physically close to us are mentally far away, and the ones who are remote to us are in contrast near. The stranger is close to us by general observations and far from us because these general observations can apply to anyone. The stranger is also mobile making it easy to move between social groups. Some of the studies on this topic are Demirguc Kunt and Levine (1995), Levine and Zervos (1993, 1995, 1998) etc. In theory well developed stock market should enduce saving and efficiently allocate capital to productive investments which would later lead to increase in the rate of real output. Stock markets contribute to accumulation of domestic savings by enhancing the scope of financial instruments available to savers and investors trough diversification of their portfolios. Dailami and Aktin (1990) think stock markets provide important source of capital investment at low cost which should serve as an obvious benefit for the economy in general. In developed economies with developed stock markets share ownership provides individuals with probably the most liquid means of sharing the risks and benefits of investing in promising projects. The main advantage of liquid stock market is that it provides investors to cope with liquididy risk by allowing participants hit by illiquidity constraints to sell their stakes to othe participants who at the time do not suffer form the same problem. These transactions are done in real time with frictions in the market being at the minimum. • 11. Xaverian Values Analysis The Xaverian values are an integral piece of the mission of Good Counsel and, ideally, of its students as well. These values are: humility, simplicity, compassion, zeal, and trust. Throughout my service, some which was completed to fulfill the school requirement and some which was not, and any leadership opportunities I participated in, I was, at the time unknowingly, striving to fulfill these values. To truly serve, or to truly lead, the understanding and application of these values is crucial. I demonstrated this value while volunteering with Easter Seals by freeing the lives of the parents of children who participated in the respite trips from a good deal of complexity. Through volunteering with this organization, as a whole, we were able to alleviate complexity and simplify, if only for a while, the lives of these parents so that they were able to accomplish other things or take a much needed break. This opportunity to participate as a volunteer on respite trips led to think about and later attempt to display the Xaverian value of humility. Being a part of an organization like this one prompted me to consider that I had a part in it, but that I was by no means the most important part. Realizing this led to the demonstration of this value by taking care to fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my abilities while also keeping in mind that I was making a difference but I was not the deciding factor and that that was okay. Compassion is a Xaverian value that I found fairly easy to demonstrate in the context of Easter Seals. One of the reasons I decided to volunteer with this organization was the fact that it helped people that I had a huge amount of sympathy for and that I wanted to help. I was able to help make the lives of the families who participated in the respite trips better and easier, for the kids on the trips by giving them the chance to experience things they might not otherwise have had the chance to and for the parents by allowing them the time to accomplish other things or some much needed time to recharge. This service also presented me with the opportunity to display the Xaverian value of zeal. The Teaching Style Of Walt Whitman Beliefs and teaching styles have been developed throughout the years, every year that it has been passed down it has continually changed from person to person, some changes are subtle while others are very drastic changes to something that was once so simple. Surely Christ was a teacher of sorts, but Socrates is a very good start to all of this, a great Greek philosopher with many great ideas that were later passed to Plato, who wrote what we now call Apology, a result of the trial that Socrates went through in the days of Ancient Greece. He brings forth the idea that we need to get to a point where we no longer need the teacher so that we are able to teach ourselves what others are not capable of teaching us. Is the need of a teacher true, or is it just another challenge that society has set up for us to overcome? In a passage that many like to call, Destroy the Teacher , Whitman quotes, He most honors my style who learns under it to destroy the teacher. Perhaps, in some ways, it is better to destroy the teacher and to begin learning by ourselves and experiencing everything for ourselves, after all, experiences are better than just sitting a classroom and attempting to soak the information up like a sponge. When being self taught, there is more information present to the person, while being in a classroom would provide learning with some restrictions, well, maybe a lot of restrictions. Whitman himself was a teacher, his influence has spread to many individuals and Janice Trecker in her paper reports, The messianic Walt Whitman of the poem had a message that he clearly believed was vital, and, in fact, the form he chose proves highly effective as a teaching device. Whether Whitman would ve seen himself as a teacher or not is entirely a mystery because we are unable to ask him how he thought of himself, but even if he would ve liked it, he was a good teacher to future writers. The use of e voting is usually applied by countries and companies. In companies, this use of e voting can be used in shareholder meetings or other instances where it is not physically possible for all individuals with a vote to be present. E voting is a new concept that has recently been used by countries that are not willing to dedicate the necessary funds to provide paper votes. The use of e voting eliminates the use of paper and ensures that voter turnout will be higher as it will eliminate issues with travelling to the voting venue and waiting in any lines that may occur. In addition, the process of tallying votes will be far faster since e voting will eliminate the manual counting of votes as well as issues such as the vote counting machine malfunctioning. E votes will be counted using software designed to tally votes. The concept of e voting has been analyzed to ensure that it is a fair process. The fairness of this new type of voting will be critical to its acceptance. However, there is a portion of the population which feels that the system can be easily manipulated and argue that the Internet is vulnerable to hacker attacks, something that can lead to an invalid and unfair result. Poverty stricken families are discriminated against all the time, and in many different ways. This shows how unfair society is against people who struggle economically. This is because people who are poor are looked down upon like they do not matter, and are seen as charity cases. Discrimination against the poor, or people of different classes is called classism. Classism is when someone is treated differently because of their class, or perceived class. Classism is similar in many ways to racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression. www.classism.org (classism/ about class). Classism is a very real thing in the world. Learning more about it for the purpose of this research paper is something that was enjoyable. This paper will cover the history of the sport, some of the equipment and entry costs involved, and provide some highlights of basic gun safety required for any trap shooter. Trap shooting began in the U.S. around 1825. Shooters typically used shotguns to fire at targets thrown, and later launched, into the air. The first U.S. recorded trap match was conducted in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1931. These early shooting competitions used live birds for the targets, as had been the history in Europe where the sport originated. America, however, led the way in developing artificial targets for trap competitions. The first targets were glass balls that contained feathers. The greatest trap shooters of the 19th century included Adam Bogardus, Ira Paine and Annie Oakley. In a one day exhibition, Bogardus broke 5,681 glass balls before missing, and Oakley shot 4,722 of 5,000 glass balls released. In pistol, the first recorded match was in 1860 and it was a duel between two men who shot nine inch China plates from a distance of 100 feet. The winner broke 11 out of 15 plates. • 26. Teenage Pregnancy Rates And The United States Even though teenage pregnancy rates have decreased in the U.S. in recent years, the rates are far behind European countries. Studies have shown that U.S. teenagers have (a) high rates of sexual intercourse at a younger age, (b) high rates of sex without contraceptives, (c) high rates of pregnancy, (d) and high number of multiple sex partners in comparison to European countries like Sweden, France, Netherland (Bell, 2009). One of the main reasons for high rates of teenage pregnancy in the U.S. is the continuation of ineffective abstinence based education (Bell, 2009) and not allowing teenagers to make abortion related decisions. In the U.S. Eighty two percent of the teenage pregnancy is unintended and 37 % of total unintended pregnancies result in abortion. Teenagers choose to abort babies because of shame, staying focused on career, unstable financial status to support babies and not getting emotional and economic support from parents. Twenty two percent of pregnant teenagers choose not to tell their parents (ACLU, 2001). Teen Pregnancy Prevention Intervention (TPPI) was initiated with the objective of reaching teenagers to create awareness and help them make safe sex choices and prevent pregnancy through comprehensive sex education. However, the policy of after school program has hindered in providing effectiveness of sex education because most of the minority students are not able to participate since they have to go to work and help their parents to support their family. ... • 27. Reflection On Personal Conflict Oxford defines Conflict as a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one. The most recent conflict I had encountered was one that is related to my work. I currently work at an IT company in Israel as an Office Manager. I have been working here for about two and a half years and am pretty content with the job as I know all the loops and holes of the daily tasks that need to be done. Recently, I have received an offer from another IT company, that would like to meet with me and offer me a job at their company. I went to an interview with this other company and a day later they told me that they were interested and would like to continue the hiring process with me. That s when my personal conflict started. I had been working in a place that I liked not for over two years, with nice conditions and friendly co workers. On the other hand, this other job is offering me a higher salary than what I am making now, while my current job place has never offered to give me a raise of any kind although I have been in situations in the company where I had to take on additional tasks that were originally outside of my job description. I will use the Ladder of Inference to try and understand my conflict and hopefully be able to decide where it would be better for me to be in terms of a job place. The ladder consists of seven steps: Reality and Facts, Selected Reality, Interpreted Reality, Assumptions, Conclusions, Beliefs, Actions. Starting from Reality and Facts by ... • 28. Persuasive Essay On Guns In Schools Since 2013, there have been 306 school shootings in America. That is an average of one shooting per week. The mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, located in Parkland, FL was committed by nineteen year old, Nikolas Cruz. He was armed with an AR 15 and open fired in the school, killing seventeen people and wounding several others. This is the deadliest school shooting since the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. It s extremely unfortunate to know that children are also victims of America s gun violence crisis, even while attending school. It is even more unfortunate and frustrating to know that the National Rifle Association (NRA) use school shootings like Parkland to encourage policies that allow guns in schools. According to Everytownresearch, there is no evidence to validate the increased safety of arming teachers in schools. As a future early childhood educator, I am against bringing guns into my school and classroom. I hope this is not the change we take as a nation, because I believe students and faculty members deserve more respect than this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s logical to employ more officers in schools, but it s illogical to arm teachers with guns. According to the Harvard Injury Control Research Center, areas with more guns also result in more gun deaths. In an active shooter emergency, professional police officers hit their intended targets less than twenty percent of the time. Armed teachers will certainly have an even lower chance of hitting the active shooter in an emergency. The people that are adamant about guns in schools need to understand that the only arming a school needs is to be armed with more officers, social workers, counselors, and school ... • 29. A Leading Airline Group With Effective Security Systems... A leading airline group with effective security systems and culture . Qantas requires an organisational culture of behaviours that support its security vision, policies and procedures. With direction from the Board, the airline has embarked on a journey to identify its current security culture and develop a method to assess and improve the culture going forward. There is little evidence to suggest that this has been accomplished elsewhere, particularly within aviation, and the findings will play a key role in Qantas ability to influence regulators. The focus for this project is on the Australian market and the 65% domestic market share, however there is evidence to suggest that considerations will also need to be made in the new and growing Asian markets. Qantas engaged PwC to assist them with this project. PwC consulted some 332 Qantas employees including Executives to understand the desired future state for security culture, and a cross section of Middle Management and the Frontline to establish the current state. Findings from Executive conversations were largely consistent with what emerged as ideas for change from the Middle Management and Frontline levels. Overarching themes encompassed the need for greater engagement including collaboration and a clearer understanding as to how security culture fits into the broader culture, specifically how security supports safety and is aligned to the brand values and desired organisational behaviours. It is a celebrious company and highly praised by consumers and it s critics for innovative technology; revolutionizing communication and interaction as well as completing objectives whether for school, work or leisurely use. The company is generally known for it s wide range of products from iPhones to MacBooks and many more. It is a forerunner in the computer hardware, software and electronics industry. Apple is an incorporation, meaning they have declared themselves as a corporate entity separate from it s owners. I would recommend this type of business practice because of it s benefits. Some benefits of having an incorporation include protection of the owner s assets against the companies liabilities, the ability to raise the capital through the sales of stocks, a simplistic and effective transfer of ownership to another party if necessary. Other benefits include getting a lower tax rate rather than on personal income and not to mention, having the benefit of creating a protective bubble around the company s shareholders, directors, and most importantly the company s owners. Hence, business structure of Apple is highly favorable amongst many and would be a suitable recommendation. B)Like many companies that are in one of the leading industries in the world, Apple is affected by different business environments. Three types of environments they are affected by are their internal. macro and micro environments. They are affected internally through a number of key components the number of employees, to how they manage, as well the corporate culture of the company. Apple has well over 100,000 employees. She had her concerns about the book being published as well. The protagonist in the story is named Eugenia AKA Skeeter . Skeeter is a 22 year old college graduate who wants nothing more than to be a writer. Her writing career kicks off because she published an anonymous book featuring her point of view on how the white people act around the help and the experiences of African American maids with their white employers. The significance of the time period being in the 1960 s is that during this time period, there was a lot of segregation still going on. • 32. Picasso Vs Goya Pablo Picasso and Francisco José de Goya were two artists that lived in completely different time periods and painted in very different styles. Goya painted frescos and court paintings while picasso dabbled in cubism and surrealism. However, like most artists, they both went through many changes and transitions throughout their lives as painters, and their desire to think outside the box and experiment with techniques that had never been used before reveal similarities in their work that may go unnoticed at first glance. When looking at the works of Goya and Picasso, one would be much more likely to point out differences than similarities. Goya did a lot of frescos and court paintings. These works differ greatly from most of Picasso s paintings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only were they both considered modern artists, their work also took a rather unexpected turn towards the end of their careers. Goya is considered the father of modern art. He took risks in his paintings and decided not to paint in the classical style of the old masters from earlier centuries, and Picasso also took many risks and painted in a very modern style. Picasso was even inspired by Goya s work, and his painting, Massacre in Korea, was inspired by Goya s The Third of May. Not only did they both experiment in their paintings, these artists also both went through a rough period in their lives that had a big effect in their style of painting. Picasso s blue period reflected his sadness after his friend s death, and all of his paintings during this time used blue and other muted colors. Goya s black paintings, a series of fourteen pieces from his last years of life, also reflected a negative change in his life. These paintings were much darker and more depressing than his older paintings. • 33. Examples Of Allegory In The Devil And Tom Walker The Devil and Tom Walker Allegory Throughout the history of literature there have been many prominent and robust allegories published. The Devil and Tom Walker is a short story written by Washington Irving. An allegory can be represented as a story, poem, or essay that can be picked apart to reveal a hidden meaning, usually a moral or political one. Many renowned allegories written throughout time contain an essential ingredient, symbolism. Symbolism uses images and indirect suggestions to express mystical ideas, emotions, and states of mind. In an allegory like The Devil and Tom Walker the fantastic elements are real in the sense that they represent something else (Piedmont Marton 55). The story of The Devil and Tom Walker is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the everyday and small temptations we face entail minimum consequences. In the case of Tom Walker, he meets the devil known as Old Scratch . In Many stories that contain the devil, the devil represents temptation; the story of Tom Walker is no different. Tom s interactions with Old Scratch illustrate just how disastrous greed and temptation can be. The devil identifies Tom s weakness of greed and tempts him with the thing Walker craves most in life, wealth. It is the Devil s usual place in literature to tempt other characters, often by providing some hapless character a deal too good to refuse (Wilson 50). Old Scratch uses Kidd the pirate s treasure as bait to reel Tom in, and once he got him hooked, there was no return for Tom. Old Scratch exploits Tom s weakness to the point of complete devotion of Tom s soul to him. Temptation is usually fueled by an accomplice, and in The Devil and Tom Walker it is greed and the desire for power. The devil also uses the death of Tom s wife to anchor Tom into finalizing the deal. Ultimately, temptation is what gets Tom Walker killed at the end of the story. If Tom were to put down his urges for mass amounts of wealth in the wrong way, his wife would have lived and he would also not have had his soul taken away from him in the end. With that being said, Old Scratch is the symbolic representation of temptation in the story of The Devil and Tom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The protagonists in both novels experience hardship when attempting to acquire a sense of identity resulting in insanity or virtual madness..In Jean Rhys s Wide Sargasso Sea, and Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, identity and insanity are presented as connecting themes through symbols that emphasize societal expectations, conflict between race, blindness, duality and their damaging effect on Jane, and her mirror Antoinette who both suffer from insanity due to their non existent place in society. Antoinette being Creole is a mixture between two cultures leaving her separated from society, the flowers being both living and dead represents Antoinette being both white and west Indie. Another aspect of this symbolism is that Antoinette is also between life and death; she is a living human being, but the suffering she has endured leads to her desire for death (Huebner, ... • 35. Similarities Between Christianity And Christianity The book of Genesis chapter 17 verses 20 and 21 in the Holy Bible state My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year. When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him . This covenant between God and Abraham would plant the seeds of Judaism and Christianity; it prophesized a great nation who would be the descendants of Abraham and Isaac This nation of people would be called the Jews, and with the crucifixion of Jesus this nation would become fractured into Jews and Christians. This would lead to cause contention and religions confusion for thousands of years Judaism and Christianity are both monotheistic religions that have similar core values and principles; however despite these similarities there are differences in practice and traditions that have caused ethnic and religious conflicts that often overshadows their connection. Historical events such as the expulsion of Jews due to religious persecution in European countries like England, France, and Spain in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries set the stage for the greatest example of ethnic cleansing in human history, the Holocaust. The systematic death of millions of European Jews by European Christians is by far the greatest example of how these small traditional and interpretive differences in these two religions have had drastic consequences. This was the time from 1185 to 1868, from the time that the emperor was defeated and Japan converged to military rule until the Tokugawa Shogunate fell. Clearly, the Shoguns had a very significant impact on Japanese society throughout the hundreds of years that the Shoguns ruled. The impact of Shoguns on Japanese society can be demonstrated clearly when the social structure of Shogunate Japan is analysed. Shogunate Japanese society was separated into three main sections, the royal classes, the noble classes and the lower classes. Nearly all of the population was in the lower classes and the least amount of the society was in the royal classes. These categories branch off into Japanese classes. The classes in the royal category are the Emperor, Royal Family and Royal Priests. Although these classes are considered the highest classes in Japan, authority was not a word that ...
