Voting Behaviour At UK Elections Is Determined More By...
Voting behaviour at UK elections is determined more by issues of personality and image than on
the basis of policies or performance in office . Discuss. In recent times it may be argued that
personality and image has played a huge part in the voting behaviour of the electorate in the UK.
The personality and image may refer to the personality of the party leader and how they present
themselves in their campaign. This is a short term factor and in a time where long term factors
are not said to play a huge role, as there is party de alignment and a change in the class structure,
perceptions of party leadership can play a huge role in determining voting behaviour. It may
always have been recognised as a factor but now its influence may have... Show more content on

In 1997, Labour were very much in touch with the electorate and focused on salient issues,
whereas the conservatives focused on issues such as trade unions and devolution which were
not deemed as salient. This benefitted Labour as they gained a huge win at this election and
rather than personality playing a huge part, it may have been their policies. Another
contributing factor at this election may have been performance in office, which in the above
statement is not seen as important as personality and image. However, performance in office
may have been extremely detrimental for the conservatives in 1997 because of their crisis in
1992. This focuses on the retrospective model, as people saw the Conservatives as incompetent
in handling the economy because of Black Wednesday in September 1992. The Conservatives
and especially Noramnt Lamont, Chancellor of the Exchequer, were to blame for the crisis that
saw the pound forced out of the ERM. This didn t help at the 1997 general election where they
did extremely badly in a huge Labour win. Personality and image does play a huge part in voting
behaviour and will continue to do so in 2015, where Ed Milliband s leadership will come into
question and could affect Labour s chances a lot. However, it is still not enough to suggest that
personality and image are larger determinants in voting behaviour than on the basis of policies or
performance in office. It is difficult to see

Analyzing Anomalous Weather
In recent years, scientists and the general public have become increasingly aware of climate change.
Scientists have begun and continue to study historical and geologic records in order to determine
natural patterns versus human induced changes in climate. By studying historical data and recent
impacts, scientists may be able to determine consequences people will face now and in the future.
One of the potential consequences of the changing climate is an increase in anomalous weather
events. By definition, an anomaly is an irregularity, or something that varies from the normal
pattern or range. For the purpose of this study, anomalous weather refers to measured temperature
and precipitation values which deviate from the normal range for weather in the area of interest.
Extreme weather phenomena result in numerous instances of property damage, human
displacement, and loss of human life in the United States and globally each year. In recent years,
there seems to have been an increase in anomalous weather conditions, such as floods, droughts,
severe storms, and high temperatures, among other types of events. Extreme weather episodes
affect a range of sectors including agriculture, and food security, water, health, and tourism
(Cooney, 2012). Some areas, such as developing countries, are more vulnerable than others due to
lack of funds, planning, and infrastructure (Cooney, 2012). However, more needs to be done in all
areas in order to prepare for the rising number of these

Social Media Marketing Strategies Are Really Helping Your...
When it comes to social media marketing, it s still pretty new terrain for most businesses. You
can never be sure that one type of social media campaign will work for what products or services.
So where does that leave you, the company? How are you supposed to know what marketing
strategies are actually helping your bottom line? That s where social media metrics come into play.
Social media metrics are measurement tools that help you sift through the thousands of likes,
retweets, and shares you re getting and make sense of it all. They are there to give some context to
the massive amounts of data that you re collecting. In short, they tell you if your marketingworks or
not. After all, at the end of the day, what s the point of all of this if it isn t helping your
company? The tricky thing is, there are hundreds of different metrics so now you have to ask
yourself which ones are best for you. Below we ll highlight some of the most useful social media
metrics, how they work and why they re so effective. If you would like to look into others,
though, we ve got a whole glossary full of other metrics here. Impressions To put it briefly,
impressions are the number of times that your page is displayed regardless of whether or not
people clickon it or not. How many people saw your post or update? That s impressions. By no
means are impressions the end all be all of social metrics. The key thing to take away from this is
that you ll want to study a series of

Reasons For File A Police Report Essay
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
This chapter provides background of the study and presents the problem statement. It clarifies the
research objectives, research questions, and describes the significance of the study. Organization of
the remaining chapters is provided towards the end of this chapter.
We focus on the modelling of policereporting processes in Malaysia. The fact that everybody
knows, under the law, people have the right to lodge a police report. In the past, the police would
actually dissuade people from filing a police report some times. One could not get their schedule
as to when those times struck and so that made it difficult and frustrating. They will tell people it
is not required or there is no point because they will not investigate or take any further action, or
give people excuses to send people from station to station until people get so frustrated, or just flat
out refuse to take down the complaint.
There are many reasons to file a police report. Some of the most common reasons are to ease of
finding and arresting a suspect in a crime, adding serial numbers to statewide databases to recover
stolen property and tracking criminal activity in various areas to prevent future crimes. A police
report should be filed in the city or jurisdiction where the crime occurred. They need to get the most
accurate information possible to conduct a thorough investigation.
Based on the literature review and an interview with police officer, we come

Guido As A True Hero In The Film Life Is Beautiful
The film Life is Beautiful, tells the powerful story of a Jewish man who uses his
humorous personality to protect his son in a concentration camp. The use of comedy to
express the evils of fascism and Nazi Germany is effective in conveying the belief that
beauty and light can be found even in the most horrible of places. Guido, the movie s
protagonist, uses his wit and optimistic character to save his family. This movie is truly
complex as it is a lighthearted comedy, while at the same time a dark drama.
Guido is considered to be a true hero in the film. Through the horrors that he and
his family faced, Guido managed to keep a positive outlook on life itself. Guido s bright
personality and determination allowed his family to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the film progresses, the topic of human dignity becomes key to the story.
Guido, Joshua, and the rest of the Jewish community presented in the film were treated
with disrespect and injustice. Every person has worth and value that cannot be lost or
taken away. Although Guido was oppressed because of his religion, his human dignity
could not be taken from him. Guido knew very well that he was not to blame for the
brutality that he and his family faced. Guido knew that it was wrong for the fascists to
decide when and how the Jewish population would die. Thus, Guido did not succumb to
the forces that oppressed him. Instead he fought for his life and that of his family, as
Guido knew that it was not worth surrendering himself and forgetting to live his life.
Despite having been a victim of the disaster, which was the Holocaust, Guido
proved himself to be a strong character. Rather than giving in to the oppressive forces
that seemed to dominate the entire population, Guido fought for what he believed in.
Guido took risks in order to make the time he and his family had left

Problems like Dry scalp, flaky scalp and dandruff are quite common and this leads to loss of hair.
Another issue you may face is the excessive production of sebum. This leads to oily scalp
resulting in hair thinning. Your hair growth is affected by this as the pores of your scalp get clogged.
Neem oil acts as a remedy for all this. All you need to do is heat the oil. Make sure that it does not
boil. Use the warm oil to massage your scalp. Leave it for an hour following which you can have a
bath in warm water. Neem oil can be applied twice a week.
You may not like the smell of it. However, it is very effective and makes your hair stronger and
healthier.
Boil the leaves
Boil a handful of neem leaves in water. Allow the water to boil until there is a change in its
colour. This happens because the medicinal value of the leaves is extracted by the water. You
may remove the leaves once the water cools down. Wash your hair with this water right after you
apply shampoo. This method helps you to get rid of dandruff. It also leads to the opening up of all
the clogged pores.

Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich Essay
Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich
Edvard Munch is looked upon as one of the most significant influences on the development of
expressionism. Edvard Munch was quoted as saying We want more than a mere photograph of
nature. We do not want to paint pretty pictures to be hung on drawing room walls. We want to
create, or at least lay the foundations of, an art that gives something to humanity. An art that arrests
and engages. An art created of one s innermost heart. I believe in The ScreamMunch did just as he
said.
The expressionism period was a movement to invoke emotions through art work. In The Scream

In 1908, Munch had a nervous breakdown, a culmination of his anxiety and fears going all the
way back to his childhood. During the years pervious to this he had experienced some of the most
extreme emotions humans can. At age 5, his mother died and at 14 , his favorite sister, Sophie dies
as well. Tuberculosis entered his childhood bring him horrid visions of death, pain, paranoia, and
despair.
It was with these emotions Munch eventually, in 1893, brought to the canvas of The Scream. He
tried to create the all encompassing emotion of total complete undeniable despair. When all hope
is gone; when death is eventual; when the world seems to be completely aganist you and there is
nothing you can do about any of it. The Scream displays the despair of life as he had experienced
one day while walking with his friends. As he has written himself I was walking along the road
with two friends. The sun set. I felt a tinge of melancholy. Suddenly the sky became a bloody red.
I stopped, leaned aganist the railing, dead tired, and I looked at the flaming clouds that hung like
blood and a sword over the blue black fjord and the city. My friends walked on. I stood there,
trembling with fright. And I felt a loud, unending scream piercing nature.
How did Munch achieve sunch an enormously disturbing effect? Looking at it we see a deformed

Solar power, water conservation, reducing carbon footprints, electrical and fossil fuel consumption
are becoming more important within our society as social attitudes change to incorporate more
sustainability practices within our society. Humans have influenced the earth s ecosystem for many
years. Being one of the largest industries in the world, the hospitality industry is an important
contributor to these problems. The hospitality industry is a diverse industry ranging from hotels,
restaurants, pubs, clubs, motels, guest houses and caterers. Although there is a diversity within the
hospitality fields. There are common efficiency measures that can be utilized to improve the
reputation, profitability and environmental performance across all the sectors in the industry. Key
cost savings can be found relatively simple changes in the management of water, waste, energy and
resource use. Reducing these things saves money, minimizes climate change risk, enhances
business image and most of all improves customer and staff satisfaction. Sustainability involves
three main factors, economic, environmental and social considerations. Sustainability is a form of
process improvement that meets current needs without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their needs. It is a term used to describe process impacts on climate change,

The Justifications Of Prison And Punishment
The area this dissertation will be focusing on is the justifications of prison and punishment, and
looking at whether these objectives are being achieved today in the current prisonsystem, with a
thorough analysis of short sentences.
In order to analyse this, short sentences will be looked at to discover whether the prison system is
working.
Throughout history, punishment has always had to be justified. For example, pre 19th century,
punishment, which included being sent to the gallows or being placed in the stocks, had the
justification of being a deterrent, as punishment was a very public event (BBC, 2012). This type of
punishment was then met with Petitions against executions and torture increased in the eighteenth
century (Poster, 1984), and as a result of these petitions, theorists such as Beccaria (1764) spoke of
creating a punishment that removed the element of torture. Foucault (1975) spoke of the moving of
punishment from the body to the mind, in order to present the prospect that their acts would that
their acts would cause more pain than pleasure so that, as rational beings, they would avoid
committing illegalities in the first place (Poster, 1984).
Prison has therefore been justified since the Gladstone Report (Departmental Committee on
Prisons,1895), which set the tone for penal policy, stating that prison would have a deterrent
function; there would also be a rehabilitative ideal about prison. The objectives of prison, as
described by Jewkes et al

to their history. Romania experienced the most repressive society during their totalitarian
communist regime s years. As Daniel Brett said, The culture of mistrust among both individuals and
social groups predates communism; it was exploited by communism and continues to be exploited
by those who fear the emergence of a genuinely autonomous civil society.. (392). The country faced

Discuss the Concept of Cultural Capital Essay
Discuss the concept of cultural capital Pierre Bourdieu developed the concept of cultural capital in
order to attempt to explain the differences in educational outcomes in France during the 1960 s.
Cultural capital is theorised as the forms of knowledge, skill, education; any advantages a person
has which, give them a higher status in society, including high expectations (Nick Stevenson,
1995.pp.46 48). This differentiates economic and social status from the class agenda which, is
rigidly sustained through an exclusive cycle. Cultural capital itself can be used in analysis of the

The Goal A Process Engineering Novel
I read Eliyahu M. Goldratt s novel The Goal the other night, instead of sleeping.
The book has two parts. In the first 264 pages, a manufacturing plant manager turns his failing
plant into a tremendous success. That part of the book ends with the manager s promotion to a
position with oversight over several failing plants. In the second part of the book (73 pages), the
manager prepares for his new job by trying to deduce a repeatable process of ongoing improvement.
He s trying to make sense of what happened in the first part of the book so he ll have half a chance
of repeating that success on a greater scale.
For now, I ll set aside considerations of why The Goal is a novel, how effective it is as a book,
whether it succeeds as literature, and so on. This article is primarily about the ideas behind the
book, and why some are valuable while others are probably quite useless.

for life and her free spirt, and her beauty and liveliness allow her to do things that were not
socially accepted, such as kissing Boris or visiting Prince Andrew in bed in the middle of the night.
Like Elizabeth from Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Natasha s looks are enhanced by other qualities
such as her ability to sing and dance, her wit and her compassion, in the end showing that what is
perceived as beauty in femalecharacters is a reflection of these characters behavior and interior
qualities.
In War and Peace, Tolstoy creates a female protagonist who, like Elizabeth Bennet from Austen s
Pride and Prejudice, is not at first admired for her physical appearance, but rather for her beauty of
spirit. When we first read about teenager Natasha, the narrator stresses that her attractiveness is not
physical; it is Natasha s joie de vivre that makes her stand out:
The little girl with her black eyes and wide mouth was not pretty but she was full of life. In the
wild dash her bodice had slipped from the bare childish shoulders and the black curls tossed back
in confusion. She had thin bare arms, little legs

Small Business Interview Analysis
Schumpter (1934) saw the definition of an entrepreneur as not only individuals who bears the risk
of buying and selling at uncertain prices , but more of process by which an economy moves

The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson and Eudora Welty’s A Worn...
In literature there are many different critical views, in which all of them have very distinctive
ideas and beliefs. The value of these critical views is decided by the reader and may be different
to each one. When a reader approaches a work of literature they bring their own views and
experiences with them, so each reader will read each story differently. And even the same reader
will never read the same story the same way twice due to things that may have changed in his or
her life. In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery (509 15) and Eudora Weltys A Worn Path(568 74) one

The next character would be Mr. Graves which one can blatantly see the ominous mean of death
and the dead being bared in a grave. Then Old Man Warner which on a first reading one may not
see because it s not so much a double meaning as it is a play on words, warn er. In which one
could gather that since he is the oldest man in the town he has been there for a long time and
could warn the other of The Lottery . After that is Mrs. Delacroix which could also be a hard one
to catch but the literal translation in French to de la Croix is of the cross. So when a reader sees
all of this on their subsequent readings one would see from the introduction of all of the
characters that there is a somber warning (lively men die without warning by crucifixion) for
Tessie Hutchinson; who shows up late and says that she Clean forgot what day it was, (Jackson
511) showing that she is a free spirit. This makes her stand out in the story letting the reader
know the warning is for her. Then last but not least there is Mrs. Dunbar who had to draw for
her husband because he had a broken leg and ever since the early days of sacrificial killings they
have never offered someone or something with broken bones because it would not please the
gods and after all that was the whole point of the killing. Eudora Welty also uses a lot of themes
and symbols to help readers connect to her stories. In her story titled A Worn Path she uses a
number of situations where

We Can Prevent Obesity Essay
There are many serious health issues today in society. A few of them are anorexia nervosa,
bulimia, diabetes, and obesity. Today, obesity is one of the most popular diseases around the
world. Obesity typically means having a body mass index of thirty kilograms or more. If taken in
more calories than burned, it leads to being overweight, and eventually obesity. Since the 1960s,
people in the United States and other industrialized countries have become heavier on average.
Excess weight is the cause of more illness than virtually any other medical condition. Most people
still do not practice healthy behaviors that can prevent obesity. Obesity is mostly caused by poor
eating habits. People do not eat healthy foods, have larger portions than... Show more content on

With children being overweight or obese, it is very much associated with it happening as adults.
Most teens are not worried about their calorie intake. They eat what they think tastes good, not
caring if it is healthy or not. Children mainly become overweight because of what they eat and
drink. Whether male or female, some young people who are extremely overweight drop out of
school and will not leave the house unless it is absolutely necessary (6). Boys tend to do more
physical activities than girls, that is why girls are more effective when it comes to obesity. For
example, boys are always outside playing sports such as football, baseball, soccer, and
basketball. As for girls, they may do the same but most girls just sit inside watch television,
movies, and eat junk food. Programs have been developed to prevent adolescent obesity (Power
14). Many young teens begin to smoke cigarettes at their age. If they try to quit, it is most likely
that they will gain weight. When children are overweight or obese, it transitions to adulthood. If
an adult is obese, chances are they were obese as a child. They are most likely still obese as an
adult because they have not changed their eating habits or increased their physical activity since
then. Obesity is increasingly becoming a major concern for adults. One third of the adult
population is now obese, and two thirds are overweight (Wisman 1). When most people discover

Similarities Between The Yellow Wallpaper And The Sandman
Common Sense in Fantastic Stories: Two Aspects of Rational Thinking Stories like Charlotte
Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper and E. T. A. Hoffmann s The Sandman are examples of
the central character being the one experiencing the supernatural events. At the same time,
another seemingly rational character was created as a contrast to the central character, these are
the characters that the readers are more identified with. They are observers, give rational
explanations to unnatural experiences of the central characters, like John from The Yellow
Wallpaper and Clara from The Sandman ; just like us readers, due to natural instinct, our first
reaction is also trying to find reasons for things. Characters with common sense are identifiable to
the readers: as we are rational, love analyzing every element in the story and trying to explain
everything in a scientific way; at the same time, narrow minded and lack of imagination just like
these characters. John in The Yellow Wallpaper is not a very likable character to the readers,
mainly because his characteristic is depicted through the narrator s point of view. In her mind, he
cannot see things she s seeing, and her opinions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Eliminating deductions, tax credits, and complex tax brackets also simplifies the tax code,
making compliance easier. (Tonya Moreno, CPA, no date) Some proponents of the flat tax
would like to see the Federal Form 1040 replaced by a simple post card on which you write your
wages and multiply it by one tax rate. I can agree with that! Why is it that our current tax plan has
to be so difficult to understand? Another part of the flat tax philosophy is to remove double taxation,
by only taxing earned income. Things like dividends, interest on savings, or capital gains that
result from investment or increases in asset value would not be taxed under a pure flat tax

Restorative Justice Case Study
Introduction
Over the course of both my undergraduate and master s programs in Negotiation, Conflict
Resolution, and Peacebuilding (NCRP), I have wanted to further study the concept of Restorative
Justice. Though it has surfaced several times throughout my NCRP coursework, it has mostly been
in the context of international conflict. Thus, I have often wondered how Restorative Justice might
work in a more local context. That local context revealed itself in my current role as one of two
fathers of a first grader in a school in Long Beach. Helena, our six year old daughter, attends a
small private school with 160 students in grades K 8. The school community regards itself as
being a large, caring, tight knit extended family, while the administration has been explicit in
stating that the incidence of bullying on the campus is little to none. Our experience as a family in
the nearly two years that we have been part of the community has been otherwise. Here are three
bullying scenarios that we ve experienced or heard of occurring in our school community:
In our first year, two male classmates called our daughter fat when she was in Kindergarten.
Later that same year, a female classmate teased another dark skinned, African American girl in her
class for having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Phaedo by Plato Essay examples
Phaedo by Plato
The opening of Plato s Phaedo finds Socrates constructing a defense of the philosophical life.
When consideration is given to the status of philosophy in Greece at the end of the fifth century
BCE, such a defense seems unnecessary and, at the same time, difficult. This is because ancient
Greece provides us with the origins of philosophy, and yet this particular period in history serves as
a good demonstration of the public s general distaste for and persecution of it. Several
philosophers, including Pythagoras, Anaxagoras, and Protagoras, were ridiculed and attacked for
their beliefs. In spite of these social deterrents, Socrates remained faithful to his life long pursuit,
even though it led to his demise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates believes that the entire philosophical endeavor is a preparation for death and that the true
philosopher looks forward to dying. His students, however, cannot understand why the philosopher
should want to die, and Socrates hopes to dispel their fears of death while bringing them to an
awareness of a figurative death where desires cease to control the soul . In addition to noticing the
figurative nature of death, he also wants them to give further consideration to the literal death as
well.
The distinction between these two types of death, figurative and literal, creates two possible
avenues for the philosophical life. Socrates defines death as the release of the soul from the body
. This definition implies both a view of death as placing distance between the soul and the body
during this life and a complete separation at the moment of death. The responsibility of the
philosopher is to seek liberation here in this life and, in so doing, to prepare for the afterlife, as
preparation for both the literal and figurative deaths coalesce into a single activity.
Liberation here in the visible realm comes from recognizing the hindering function of the body in
the soul s search for knowledge. Socrates comments that a soul associated too closely with the
body will be

Capitalism And Catholic Social Teaching
Over the 20th century, numerous conflicts and wars were fought over which economic system is
better capitalism or communism . To summarize, capitalism encourages a free market, where
competition between businesses drives the market. In communist societies, the government is in
control of private propertyand means of production. These viewpoints held on the economy s days
since Cory do not necessarily match up with Catholic Social Doctrine, which disagrees with the
moral relativism of Unregulated capitalism. It also disagrees with the religious suppression
characterizing communist Governments, as well as the communist stance on property as something
that should be collective. This suggests Catholic Social Teachingis unique in the context... Show

Ideally, a communist government values the rights of the impoverished, workers and others. Both
Catholic Socialist Teachings and communism, as envisioned by Marx and Engels, suggest a
more collectivist approach to society by comparison to what is advocated for by capitalism,
which placed less emphasis on society s collective. One particular element of communist teachings
/government is the disdain for religion within the ideology. Karl Marx himself was known to have
a negative view of organized religion, and this is expressed within his writings. To Marx, religion
was a means of suppressing the lower classes, and placating them so that they would hot be hostile
towards the rulers of European governments and industrial tycoons of the time. Marx s disdain for
organized religion went on to affect cultures of societies with communist governments. For
example, in Russia, the revolution and the following rise of the Soviets led to decreased influence
of the Russian Orthodox Church, as the state was officially atheist. The attitude towards religion in
communist thought has an obvious conflict with the principles of Catholicism, when this difference
in religious belief (or lack thereof) is considered. Another area where Catholic Social Ethics differ

Housing Ambassador Research Paper
Two main reasons contribute to why I would love to become a Housing Ambassador. To help get
many prospective and current students excited and involved in campus housing is the first
reason. So many people shoot down on campus housing because of the price; however, people
do not realize housing is more than just a room you pay for. You live here, study here, and have
fun here. There are many events, free stuff, and free food that residence halls and RSA provide

It was a few years ago, and I had gone grocery shopping with my mother. I d always shop with her

of for the grocery list. My mother was a conservative person. She had grown up on a farm in a
small town where change would least occur. She was a spiteful person whose insecurities led her
judgments. Despite her animosity to most things, she would tell me stories to inform me on
matters she finds important, like how much money I should save for a car, or how she earned a
high credit score. On our way home from the grocery store, she decided to tell me a story she
heard from her coworker. My coworker, she has a pool in her backyard, and one day she found
the black neighbor s kids swimming in her pool. She told them that they should ask to use her
pool and told their mom, but their mom said, and my mother used her best, yet ear aching

decided to follow her story with also, I m going to refer to black people as Canadians. That way no
one complains about it. Nobody cares what the actual Canadians, so my coworker found Canadians
in her pool.

Summary Of The Hound Of The Baskervilles
Summary:
On December 26th, 2015, my mother and I went to go see the show, Baskerville, by Ken
Ludwig, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. The play was a different and clever
take on the mystery novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The play
the book tell the story about an attempted murder of a man called Sir Henry Baskerville, who has
just inherited his uncle, Sir Charles Baskerville s estate. There is some suspicion surrounding Sir
Charles death. It is said that he died of a heart attack, but his friend who found him dead, Dr.
James Mortimer, noticed an expression of fear on his face and the prints of gigantic hound nearby.
So the doctor brings the case to Mr. Holmes and it begins.
The venue of the show was the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. It was a very sleek and
modern looking place. It was smaller than I imagined outside and inside of the theatre. The stage
was a perfect square black box type stage, completely surrounded by lights. The show was done by
the Philadelphia Theatre Company, and the show was written by American playwright Ken
Ludwig. The contemporary drama show premiered at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC on
January 16th, 2015.
Ludwig s interpretation of the story was very clever and funny. It was close to being farcical, but
the actual premise of the show kept it from reaching that point. There were two things that made
the play stand out. When I looked at the cast list before I went to see the show I

The Effects Of Birth Control On Children
When focusing on the public s opinion on the use of birth control, research and analysis of polls
show that on average, the overall relevant public ranges from ages 15 19 or 18 and older, which
would indicate that they are teenagers post puberty or adults. Most of those surveyed were
American females, which is likely because they are most directly impacted by birth control,
considering that they are the ones taking it, receiving information about it at their doctor s, etc. The
relevant public also includes religious groups; Catholics are the most relevant religious group, as it
is the one that throughout the introduction and usage of birth control has been the most vocal
(Gallup, 2012). Also, while females are the ones taking the birth control, men are another group to
consider, as they are closely tied to the effects of using birth control.
Gallup s study titled Contraception Debate Divides Americans, Including Women includes all of
the subgroups of the public mentioned above. When answering the survey just based on gender,
men and women held similar views in that they both believed equally that even if working for a
religious based employer, birth control should be covered in women s health plans (Gallup, 2011).
Yet, when party affiliation was considered, less men in both parties were in favor of the issue than
women. Catholics believed birth control should not be covered, and this remained the same when
party affiliation was considered (Gallup, 2011). This shows that

1. What importance have the following groups attached to salt?
i. Romans: Romans considered common salt a right and used it for cooking in both plebian and
patrician cuisine. Salt trade was a prominent way of making money and soldiers were often paid in
salt. A tightly controlled monopoly on saltcontributed to military funds. ii. Greek Philosophers:
Plato describes salt as dear to the gods, and we can even see the importance attached to it in
religious ceremonies, covenants, and magical charms. Also, Aristotle mentioned brine spring

countries use these trading systems during times of conflict?
Salt was transported on waterways and by horses, similar to chariots in war. Roads for trade were
built in Europe and canals were built in America. Blockades put on ports during the Civil war
caused salt shortages.
7. What part did salt play in the following conflicts?
i. The American Revolution: Salt was a provision for soldiers during the conflict. Limited salt in
the colonies and British tariffs on salt trade contributed to tension leading up to the revolution. ii.
The French Revolution: Salt taxes instilled by the Grande Gabelle caused smuggling and revolts.
After the revolution, Brittany s exemption from the gabelle made the salt producing area among
the poorest in France. iii. The American Civil War: Salt was included in rations for both Union and
Confederate soldiers, but more often fulfilled for Union forces. Blockades were ordered on
southern ports causing a salt shortage. Conflicts about maintaining saltworks rose. 8. Why did salt
start to become less important to society in the 19th century? How did this affect the food industry
in both Europe and America?
Salt started to become less important in the 19th century because people found that they could
preserve food by freezing their fish and they were able to keep it unsalted. And that this would have

Emancipation Of A Minor Essay
Abstract
Minors are not legally capable to make medical decisions on their own. Rather, they are viewed as
immature and incompetent because they are not eighteen or above. In order to have consent or to
refuse medical treatment, the minor must have his or her parental figure. Over the years, the courts
have ruled some minors, being under the age of eighteen, to have shown signs of maturity. By
showing signs of maturity, the court allows the minor their voice in determining medical treatment.
Without the emancipation in medical decisions, the minor s choices are not respected and looked
upon, violating the constitutional rights to the minor. Minor medical rights are not unheard of, but
rather not encouraged. Parental figures are seen to be the ones to know their child the best,
therefore are the ones to act best in what suites the minor needs best. Covering stories of victims,
rights of the minor, parent, and court in medical issues, this essay describes all issues needing to be
spoke about.
Medical Rights to our Own Bodies
Minor medical emancipation allows the minor, being under the age of 18, to make their own
medical decisions with treatment. The emancipation of a minor is where the individual has no

Malcolm X carried a fearless attitude presenting speeches that have been etched into American
History, one the of the most iconic of these speeches was Ballot or the Bullet . It embodies ideas
of self determination coupled with an intense call to action. The Ballot or the Bullet is a great

French Imperialism had a negative impact on Benin because its economy and education did not
improve during imperialism. The French controlled Benin which is why Imperialism has an
affect on Benin today. Benin is a country that once prefered child labour over education because
of imperialism. Nowadays, kids are getting an education, but are not receiving support or any
help from their uneducated parents. The population of Benin is 11,176,000 people and the
literacy rate is only 38.4%. According to care2.com, 49.9% of males have an education and only
27.3% of females have an education. Here in Benin most of the parents are uneducated and don t
know how to read and write. But they want to know how their child is performing , Saka Jonas:

Spread Of American Culture Essay
The world today is continuing to evolve on a daily basis, and that is one thing we can count on
it doing. It started evolving from the beginning and will continue to the end of time. The biggest
part of evolution is the way our culture has changed over thousands of years. Now, my description
of how the world is going to look in 100 years is probably the same as most people my age.
Everything will be electronic.
The word Hellenism refers to the spread of Greek culture after the conquest of Alexander the Great
in the 4th century. If you look around not only America, but most countries, you will see that we are
made up of so many different cultures. In fact, most of what we would consider part of the
American culture, comes from another culture. We have become a diverse community.

a long period of time. Things that I take for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, Internet killed Television. Ever since 2009 so many things on the Internet have
changed. For instance, YouTube has evolved greatly. Before 2009 it was mainly used for
uploading videos once or twice for laughs. But now being on YouTube has become a full time
job for some. Which adults don t understand how uploading videos can be a job. In a way, you
could say, YouTuber s are becoming celebrities . In fact some of our stars today were found on
YouTube. One in particular that almost everyone knows of now is Justin Bieber. YouTube could
also be known as something that is Hellenistic because it is something that has spread across the
world. As well as so many of the other social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn,
Instagram, etc. In fact, Facebook is often used to keep in touch with people from other countries. I
know this from experience. Having many friends from across the world, social media makes it

I can see someone speaking up for that person, being their protector and voice. It might cause a
crowd to speak down on the person who broke the norm. Not standing up to allow someone to seat
might cause friction and attitude with individuals. They might give each other the evil eye or a
little sassy. You might feel the negativity energy during the entire movie.
A DIFFERENT EXAMPLE FOR REFERENCE:
The use of an elevator is a common thing. Most Americans use the elevator without incident, and
we all know how to behave in one. For example, it is a norm that when you get into an elevator,
if someone is standing in one corner, you go to the other corner. You do NOT stand right next to
them and crowd them when the rest of the elevator is empty. Another norm would be that you
face the doors you do NOT keep your back to the door and stare at the other people in the elevator.
So, think about why these norms are in place and what purpose they serve (some hints would be to
think about personal space, our tolerance for strangers, etc).
Notice too that we just know how to behave in an elevator, we were not taught that in school! (but
we did learn from our parents and by watching

The Works Of Langston Hughes And The Harlem Renaissance
Langston Hughes was one of the most significant writers and scholars of the Harlem Renaissance,
which was the African American artistic movement in the 1920s that celebrated black life and
culture. Hughes s creative brilliance was swayed by his life in New York City s Harlem, a mainly
African American region. His historical works helped form American literature and politics. Hughes
just like others active in the Harlem Renaissancehad a robust sense of racial vanity. Through his
poetry, novels, plays, essays, and children s books, he endorsed equality, convicted racism and
prejudice, and celebrated African Americanprinciples, humor, and holiness. Hughes took a diverse
and flamboyant background to his writing. Before he was twelve years old he had lived in six
different American cities. When his first book was published, he had already been a truck farmer,
cook, waiter, college graduate,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of Hughes s most powerful and keen poems. It comprises exceptionally strong
metaphors and thematic content, lecturing the social role of biracial children in ghettoized
America, father and son relations, and the continuing heritage of slavery. Mulatto performed as
part of Fine Clothes to the Jew, a collection of Hughes s poetry that was published in 1925. Hughes
inscribes from the voice of several different appeals, and the arrangement of the poem is vital to
understanding the language each character speaks .
Mulatto starts with a son declaring to his birth father, I am your son, white man! A third voice,
either the son or an outside neighbor, describes the scene in the woods against the Georgia dusk.
The father, responding to his son s repeated cry, exclaims, Like hell! The storyteller defines the
moon rising in the Southern night, which is filled with yellow stars. The moon perhaps signifies
the white father and the stars his many yellow bastard

Example Of Transcendentalism In Peanuts
Peanuts is a comic strip that ran from the 1950 s to the 2000 s. It s focused around a depressed
and meek boy named Charlie Brown. The comics tell the story of him, his friends, and all of their
adventures. While the comic strip ended in the 2000 s the world of Charlie Brown still lives on to
this day. Around 120 years before the world of Charlie Brown, the philosophical movement of
transcendentalism appeared. It emphasized the spirit and one s own individuality. Even though it
came out a significant amount of time in the past, transcendentalism is still apparent in the modern
world. Peanutsis a modern day example of transcendentalism in the way it represents character s
own confidence and free thought. One of the characteristics of transcendentalism is confidence.
A character in Peanuts who is a prime example of confidence is Lucy Van Pelt. For instance, in
one of the comics written by Charles Schulz, when Lucy says that she has a knack for seeing
other people s faults, Linus asks her about her own faults she responds that she has a knack for
overlooking them and then when Charlie Brown says to Lucy, Sometimes you really astound
me. I ve never known anyone who was so consistently crabby! How do you explain that? she
answers, Never change a winning game! Lucy is a very sarcastic character and she stands by the
way that she goes about life. She has an amazing amount of self confidence and she doesn t let
anyone else get to her because she believes strongly in her actions. She s a strong example of
confidence in transcendentalism because of how much she believes in herself and stands by her
actions. Also, in A Charlie Brown Christmasthe story revolves around the idea that Charlie Brown
doesn t believe that the over commercialized Christmas that they all celebrate is the real meaning
of Christmas. Then when he s asked to go get a big and over the top Christmas tree for the play,
he grabs a small and neglected tree because he sees the potential in it and he feels like it s his job
to give it a home. When all of his friends make fun of him and tell him that he s stupid he gets
depressed, but he doesn t lose his confidence that that isn t what Christmas is all about. After Linus

Different Types of Nuclear Energy Essay
As a source of energy, nuclear energy provides a safer alternative, for the production of energy
for large scale consumption. There are two different types of nuclear energy; nuclear fission and
nuclear fusion. Nuclear fission is the process in which a nucleus spits into two or more smaller
nuclei. Nuclear fusion is the process in which two nuclei fuse together to form a larger nuclei.
Nuclear reactors can become unstable creating an uncontrollable nuclear reaction. The effects of
this can be seen in Chernobyl. Reactors have been designed safer after this disaster.

The energy produced by the fission of uranium provides heat which turns water into steam which
then turns the turbines, generating electricity. Nuclear reactors are becoming a more common
source of electricity with 77% of France s electricity coming from nuclear reactors. It s both
safer and easier to build thermal reactors. Most nuclear reactors are now thermal reactors. A
nuclear reactor s main components are the fuel rods; the control rods; the moderator and the
coolant. These components are all found in the reactor s core. Enriched fuel is placed in airtight
rods, these are called the fuel rods. The moderator is the material that is found around the fuel and
control rods. The coolant absorbs excess heat produced by the fission process in the reactor.
Nuclear reactors are generally enclosed in a thick, airtight concrete and steel vessel. This protects
those outside from the large quantities of gamma radiation given off.
Nuclear energy is the most efficient source of energy, producing 20 million times more energy
than fossil fuels. Nuclear fusion creates more electricity than nuclear fission but needs
temperatures of 20 million degrees. Nuclear reactors create nuclear waste as well as electricity.
This nuclear waste takes centuries to become safe. Klaus Rolf, a member of Ruhr University in
Bochum, Germany, believes he can make radioactive waste safe in decades instead of centuries.
Rolf claims to have cult the half life of sodium by 1%. This was done by

  • 2. Voting Behaviour At UK Elections Is Determined More By... Voting behaviour at UK elections is determined more by issues of personality and image than on the basis of policies or performance in office . Discuss. In recent times it may be argued that personality and image has played a huge part in the voting behaviour of the electorate in the UK. The personality and image may refer to the personality of the party leader and how they present themselves in their campaign. This is a short term factor and in a time where long term factors are not said to play a huge role, as there is party de alignment and a change in the class structure, perceptions of party leadership can play a huge role in determining voting behaviour. It may always have been recognised as a factor but now its influence may have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1997, Labour were very much in touch with the electorate and focused on salient issues, whereas the conservatives focused on issues such as trade unions and devolution which were not deemed as salient. This benefitted Labour as they gained a huge win at this election and rather than personality playing a huge part, it may have been their policies. Another contributing factor at this election may have been performance in office, which in the above statement is not seen as important as personality and image. However, performance in office may have been extremely detrimental for the conservatives in 1997 because of their crisis in 1992. This focuses on the retrospective model, as people saw the Conservatives as incompetent in handling the economy because of Black Wednesday in September 1992. The Conservatives and especially Noramnt Lamont, Chancellor of the Exchequer, were to blame for the crisis that saw the pound forced out of the ERM. This didn t help at the 1997 general election where they did extremely badly in a huge Labour win. Personality and image does play a huge part in voting behaviour and will continue to do so in 2015, where Ed Milliband s leadership will come into question and could affect Labour s chances a lot. However, it is still not enough to suggest that personality and image are larger determinants in voting behaviour than on the basis of policies or performance in office. It is difficult to see ... • 3. Analyzing Anomalous Weather In recent years, scientists and the general public have become increasingly aware of climate change. Scientists have begun and continue to study historical and geologic records in order to determine natural patterns versus human induced changes in climate. By studying historical data and recent impacts, scientists may be able to determine consequences people will face now and in the future. One of the potential consequences of the changing climate is an increase in anomalous weather events. By definition, an anomaly is an irregularity, or something that varies from the normal pattern or range. For the purpose of this study, anomalous weather refers to measured temperature and precipitation values which deviate from the normal range for weather in the area of interest. Extreme weather phenomena result in numerous instances of property damage, human displacement, and loss of human life in the United States and globally each year. In recent years, there seems to have been an increase in anomalous weather conditions, such as floods, droughts, severe storms, and high temperatures, among other types of events. Extreme weather episodes affect a range of sectors including agriculture, and food security, water, health, and tourism (Cooney, 2012). Some areas, such as developing countries, are more vulnerable than others due to lack of funds, planning, and infrastructure (Cooney, 2012). However, more needs to be done in all areas in order to prepare for the rising number of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Reasons For File A Police Report Essay CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction This chapter provides background of the study and presents the problem statement. It clarifies the research objectives, research questions, and describes the significance of the study. Organization of the remaining chapters is provided towards the end of this chapter. We focus on the modelling of policereporting processes in Malaysia. The fact that everybody knows, under the law, people have the right to lodge a police report. In the past, the police would actually dissuade people from filing a police report some times. One could not get their schedule as to when those times struck and so that made it difficult and frustrating. They will tell people it is not required or there is no point because they will not investigate or take any further action, or give people excuses to send people from station to station until people get so frustrated, or just flat out refuse to take down the complaint. There are many reasons to file a police report. Some of the most common reasons are to ease of finding and arresting a suspect in a crime, adding serial numbers to statewide databases to recover stolen property and tracking criminal activity in various areas to prevent future crimes. A police report should be filed in the city or jurisdiction where the crime occurred. They need to get the most accurate information possible to conduct a thorough investigation. Based on the literature review and an interview with police officer, we come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Guido, Joshua, and the rest of the Jewish community presented in the film were treated with disrespect and injustice. Every person has worth and value that cannot be lost or taken away. Although Guido was oppressed because of his religion, his human dignity could not be taken from him. Guido knew very well that he was not to blame for the brutality that he and his family faced. Guido knew that it was wrong for the fascists to decide when and how the Jewish population would die. Thus, Guido did not succumb to the forces that oppressed him. Instead he fought for his life and that of his family, as Guido knew that it was not worth surrendering himself and forgetting to live his life. Despite having been a victim of the disaster, which was the Holocaust, Guido proved himself to be a strong character. • 9. Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich Essay Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich Edvard Munch is looked upon as one of the most significant influences on the development of expressionism. Edvard Munch was quoted as saying We want more than a mere photograph of nature. We do not want to paint pretty pictures to be hung on drawing room walls. We want to create, or at least lay the foundations of, an art that gives something to humanity. An art that arrests and engages. An art created of one s innermost heart. He tried to create the all encompassing emotion of total complete undeniable despair. When all hope is gone; when death is eventual; when the world seems to be completely aganist you and there is nothing you can do about any of it. The Scream displays the despair of life as he had experienced one day while walking with his friends. As he has written himself I was walking along the road with two friends. The sun set. I felt a tinge of melancholy. Suddenly the sky became a bloody red. I stopped, leaned aganist the railing, dead tired, and I looked at the flaming clouds that hung like blood and a sword over the blue black fjord and the city. My friends walked on. I stood there, trembling with fright. And I felt a loud, unending scream piercing nature. How did Munch achieve sunch an enormously disturbing effect? The Justifications Of Prison And Punishment The area this dissertation will be focusing on is the justifications of prison and punishment, and looking at whether these objectives are being achieved today in the current prisonsystem, with a thorough analysis of short sentences. In order to analyse this, short sentences will be looked at to discover whether the prison system is working. Throughout history, punishment has always had to be justified. For example, pre 19th century, punishment, which included being sent to the gallows or being placed in the stocks, had the justification of being a deterrent, as punishment was a very public event (BBC, 2012). This type of punishment was then met with Petitions against executions and torture increased in the eighteenth century (Poster, 1984), and as a result of these petitions, theorists such as Beccaria (1764) spoke of creating a punishment that removed the element of torture. Foucault (1975) spoke of the moving of punishment from the body to the mind, in order to present the prospect that their acts would that their acts would cause more pain than pleasure so that, as rational beings, they would avoid committing illegalities in the first place (Poster, 1984). Prison has therefore been justified since the Gladstone Report (Departmental Committee on Prisons,1895), which set the tone for penal policy, stating that prison would have a deterrent function; there would also be a rehabilitative ideal about prison. Discuss the Concept of Cultural Capital Essay Discuss the concept of cultural capital Pierre Bourdieu developed the concept of cultural capital in order to attempt to explain the differences in educational outcomes in France during the 1960 s. Cultural capital is theorised as the forms of knowledge, skill, education; any advantages a person has which, give them a higher status in society, including high expectations (Nick Stevenson, 1995.pp.46 48). This differentiates economic and social status from the class agenda which, is rigidly sustained through an exclusive cycle. However, a close reading of the novel reveals that Natasha s beauty derives from her inner spirit and liveliness, aspects that disguise her impulsive behavior. Natasha can get away with her imprudence because her behavior is seen as product of her love for life and her free spirt, and her beauty and liveliness allow her to do things that were not socially accepted, such as kissing Boris or visiting Prince Andrew in bed in the middle of the night. When consideration is given to the status of philosophy in Greece at the end of the fifth century BCE, such a defense seems unnecessary and, at the same time, difficult. This is because ancient Greece provides us with the origins of philosophy, and yet this particular period in history serves as a good demonstration of the public s general distaste for and persecution of it. Several philosophers, including Pythagoras, Anaxagoras, and Protagoras, were ridiculed and attacked for their beliefs. Socrates believes that the entire philosophical endeavor is a preparation for death and that the true philosopher looks forward to dying. His students, however, cannot understand why the philosopher should want to die, and Socrates hopes to dispel their fears of death while bringing them to an awareness of a figurative death where desires cease to control the soul . In addition to noticing the figurative nature of death, he also wants them to give further consideration to the literal death as well. The distinction between these two types of death, figurative and literal, creates two possible avenues for the philosophical life. Socrates defines death as the release of the soul from the body . This definition implies both a view of death as placing distance between the soul and the body during this life and a complete separation at the moment of death. The responsibility of the philosopher is to seek liberation here in this life and, in so doing, to prepare for the afterlife, as preparation for both the literal and figurative deaths coalesce into a single activity. Despite her animosity to most things, she would tell me stories to inform me on matters she finds important, like how much money I should save for a car, or how she earned a high credit score. On our way home from the grocery store, she decided to tell me a story she heard from her coworker. My coworker, she has a pool in her backyard, and one day she found the black neighbor s kids swimming in her pool. She told them that they should ask to use her pool and told their mom, but their mom said, and my mother used her best, yet ear aching impression of a black woman and belted: you ain t using no pool! We can use it all we want! She decided to follow her story with also, I m going to refer to black people as Canadians. That way no one complains about it. • 38. Summary Of The Hound Of The Baskervilles Summary: On December 26th, 2015, my mother and I went to go see the show, Baskerville, by Ken Ludwig, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. The play was a different and clever take on the mystery novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The play the book tell the story about an attempted murder of a man called Sir Henry Baskerville, who has just inherited his uncle, Sir Charles Baskerville s estate. There is some suspicion surrounding Sir Charles death. It was a very sleek and modern looking place. It was smaller than I imagined outside and inside of the theatre. The stage was a perfect square black box type stage, completely surrounded by lights. The show was done by the Philadelphia Theatre Company, and the show was written by American playwright Ken Ludwig. The contemporary drama show premiered at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC on January 16th, 2015. Ludwig s interpretation of the story was very clever and funny. It was close to being farcical, but the actual premise of the show kept it from reaching that point. There were two things that made the play stand out. When I looked at the cast list before I went to see the show I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Effects Of Birth Control On Children When focusing on the public s opinion on the use of birth control, research and analysis of polls show that on average, the overall relevant public ranges from ages 15 19 or 18 and older, which would indicate that they are teenagers post puberty or adults. Most of those surveyed were American females, which is likely because they are most directly impacted by birth control, considering that they are the ones taking it, receiving information about it at their doctor s, etc. The relevant public also includes religious groups; Catholics are the most relevant religious group, as it is the one that throughout the introduction and usage of birth control has been the most vocal (Gallup, 2012). Also, while females are the ones taking the birth control, men are another group to consider, as they are closely tied to the effects of using birth control. Gallup s study titled Contraception Debate Divides Americans, Including Women includes all of the subgroups of the public mentioned above. When answering the survey just based on gender, men and women held similar views in that they both believed equally that even if working for a religious based employer, birth control should be covered in women s health plans (Gallup, 2011). Yet, when party affiliation was considered, less men in both parties were in favor of the issue than women. Catholics believed birth control should not be covered, and this remained the same when party affiliation was considered (Gallup, 2011). This shows that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rather, they are viewed as immature and incompetent because they are not eighteen or above. In order to have consent or to refuse medical treatment, the minor must have his or her parental figure. Over the years, the courts have ruled some minors, being under the age of eighteen, to have shown signs of maturity. By showing signs of maturity, the court allows the minor their voice in determining medical treatment. Without the emancipation in medical decisions, the minor s choices are not respected and looked upon, violating the constitutional rights to the minor. Minor medical rights are not unheard of, but rather not encouraged. Parental figures are seen to be the ones to know their child the best, therefore are the ones to act best in what suites the minor needs best. • 53. Example Of Transcendentalism In Peanuts Peanuts is a comic strip that ran from the 1950 s to the 2000 s. It s focused around a depressed and meek boy named Charlie Brown. The comics tell the story of him, his friends, and all of their adventures. While the comic strip ended in the 2000 s the world of Charlie Brown still lives on to this day. Around 120 years before the world of Charlie Brown, the philosophical movement of transcendentalism appeared. It emphasized the spirit and one s own individuality. Even though it came out a significant amount of time in the past, transcendentalism is still apparent in the modern world. Peanutsis a modern day example of transcendentalism in the way it represents character s own confidence and free thought. One of the characteristics of transcendentalism is confidence. A character in Peanuts who is a prime example of confidence is Lucy Van Pelt. For instance, in one of the comics written by Charles Schulz, when Lucy says that she has a knack for seeing other people s faults, Linus asks her about her own faults she responds that she has a knack for overlooking them and then when Charlie Brown says to Lucy, Sometimes you really astound me. I ve never known anyone who was so consistently crabby! How do you explain that? she answers, Never change a winning game! Lucy is a very sarcastic character and she stands by the way that she goes about life. She has an amazing amount of self confidence and she doesn t let anyone else get to her because she believes strongly in her actions. She s a strong example of confidence in transcendentalism because of how much she believes in herself and stands by her actions. Also, in A Charlie Brown Christmasthe story revolves around the idea that Charlie Brown doesn t believe that the over commercialized Christmas that they all celebrate is the real meaning of Christmas. Then when he s asked to go get a big and over the top Christmas tree for the play, he grabs a small and neglected tree because he sees the potential in it and he feels like it s his job to give it a home. Nuclear reactors are becoming a more common source of electricity with 77% of France s electricity coming from nuclear reactors. It s both safer and easier to build thermal reactors. Most nuclear reactors are now thermal reactors. A nuclear reactor s main components are the fuel rods; the control rods; the moderator and the coolant. These components are all found in the reactor s core. Enriched fuel is placed in airtight rods, these are called the fuel rods. The moderator is the material that is found around the fuel and control rods. The coolant absorbs excess heat produced by the fission process in the reactor. Nuclear reactors are generally enclosed in a thick, airtight concrete and steel vessel. This protects those outside from the large quantities of gamma radiation given off. Nuclear energy is the most efficient source of energy, producing 20 million times more energy than fossil fuels. Nuclear fusion creates more electricity than nuclear fission but needs temperatures of 20 million degrees. Nuclear reactors create nuclear waste as well as electricity.
