Optimal Currency Area
Discuss whether the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is an optimal currency
area.
To give an opinion on whether or not the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is
an optimal currency area, first an optimal currency area must be defined. An optimal currency area
was defined by Pilbeam (2013) as A region for which it is optimal to have a common currency and a
common monetary policy . For the ECOWAS to qualify as an optimal currency area it must fulfil
certain criteria, it is unlikely to fulfil all of the criteria entirely, but to be deemed an optimal currency
area it must score reasonably. The factors are also not necessarily equally weighted, while they are all
important some may be more crucial than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Financial Integration
This concerns a country s ability to gain external financing. If a country has a high level of financial
integration with the countries surrounding it then it would be able to finance its deficits without the
need to alter the exchange rate and its monetary policy. Therefore an economic community with a high
level of financial integration would be well suited to a monetary union. In the ECOWAS there are
signs of progress towards a higher level of financial integration. This can be seen through the
establishment of the single banking commission (Commission Bancaire de l UMOA) that was created
in 1990 to strengthen regional banking supervision. A regional commercial legal framework
(Organisation pour l Harmonisation du Droit des Affaires en Afrique OHADA) was put in place in
1996. And cross border restrictions have been lifted on banking and other financial services excluding
insurance. (Amadou, 2006)
Degree of Openness
The more open countries within an economic community are to trading with each other the more they
would benefit from a common currency. From the view of small companies looking to trade

The Heroin Epidemic Essay
Volunteering and participating in service projects are two of the most rewarding activities in my
opinion. Some people may find it was a hassle or only do it because they have to meet the minimum
requirement for school or work. Helping others, for me, has always been somewhat second nature to
me. Over many years of volunteering I believe I have developed qualities that will stick with me for
life and benefit me in my career. As early as freshman year, in high school, I found myself looking for
ways to give back. I started by looking for opportunities within school, where I came across the A+
tutoring program, and so my journey of giving back began. While tutoring, my patience for others
really evolved, partly by choice and partly because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You would think that people would stop using when they hear the statistics, or when they see their

somewhat easier to understand why people use heroin. The top three levels of the pyramid, 1.social

using due to peer pressure and trying to fit in. What kids do not realize is that the first time using
could lead to addiction. So they will continue using because it makes them feel better about
themselves, it becomes a part of who they are. Pretty soon they look around and realize heroin is the
only thing they have left, because everyone else has left. These problems teens are facing here in
Missouri are the same ones they are facing all over the world. A recent statistic from the International
Statistics of Heroin Addiction Abuse reports that over 9 million people in the world are using heroin.

Erwot Forecast Case Forecast
2018 ERCOT Long Term Demand Forecasting Approach prepared by London Economics
International LLC
December 21st, 2017
Background
On December 15th, 2017, ERCOT released its annual System Planning Long Term Hourly Peak
Demand and Energy Forecast report for the region for 2018. The report presents methodology,
assumptions, and the data used to conduct the forecasting. ERCOT bases the forecast on econometric
models describing ERCOT s hourly load as dependent on the number of premises in various customer
classes, weather variables, and calendar variables. Furthermore, the premise forecasts are based on
econometric autoregressive models ( AR1 ) and certain economic data. With regards to the data used,
forecasts of economic and demographic data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each class premise count was subsequently modeled by estimating a relationship between the
premises and each of the three pieces of economic data (i.e. housing stock, population, and non farm
employment).
Issues were encountered in the process of creating premise forecast models for two of the identified
weather zones. In mid 2014, there was a notable spike in the number of premises for the Far West and
West weather zones; it was around this time when an entity opted into ERCOT s competitive market
and when ERCOT s service territory was modified through expansion. As such, premise forecast
models were not created for the Far West and West weather zones; instead, the aforementioned zones
considered economic variables of key drivers of forecasted demand and energy growth.
Hourly Energy Models
A relationship was estimated for each of the eight weather zones between the dependent variable,
hourly energy, and various time and weather metrics (i.e. month, season, day type, weather variables,
interactions, number of premises, and non farm employment/housing stock/population). Weather
variables include, for instance, temperature, dew point, cloud cover, wind speed, and cooling and
heating degree days. Interactions include hour and day of week, hour and temperature, hour and dew
point, temperature and dewpoint, and hour and temperature and dew point. Not all variables were
included in each

Types Of Magazine Clipping
One category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was famous people. The first clipping in
this category is Barack Obama. This picture is very important because he was our President and leader
of the U.S. for eight years in a row. The next magazine clipping is a U.S soldier. He is important
because he part of a group that fights and protects our country and our freedom. Another clipping is a
picture of Vic Beasley. He s important because he use to play for the Clemson Tigers a while back and
that was the team that won the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship game. The last
magazine clipping is an Alabama football player. This picture is meaningful because this team was in
the National Championship game against the Clemson Tigers and they lost by 4 points. Another
category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was objects. The first part of this category is
things that resemble more of the american freedom like a pocket knife, american flag, guns, peace
corp badge, and the Democratic donkey and Republican elephant. These objects are important because
they all have to do with american freedom whether it be protecting the country, having your own
beliefs, and just having peace. The next part of this category is things that people spend money on like
a cubs hat, iphone 5s, electronic cigarettes, and Christmas wrapping paper. These kinds of objects are
important because people spend a lot of money on all these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first part of this category has pictures of a bowl of mac and cheese, whole grain spaghetti, turkey,

Understanding And Exploring Assumptions Of Assumptions
Understanding and Exploring Assumptions Assumptions are important, but not in the way; many
would think. The term assumption sometimes is associated with the word guess, but that s not the
meaning as it concerned statistics to ensure that your data. In the area of statistics , the word
assumption signifies completeness of the data collected (Triola, 2008) . The assumption aids the
researcher in verifying the data because if the data does not meet the requirement, the researcher must,
then treat the data in a different way to ensure the best interpolation of the data. Assumption is
required in completing statically analyses: histograms, levenes test for homogeneity of variance,
normality, normal pp plots as well in the use of chi square (Field, 2013; Hayes Cai, 2007; Triola,
2008)witch use the assumption of random sampling. In the use of ANOVA method, the assumption of
normality is the basis for the technique. Assumptions aid in identifying deviation of data as it concern
normality. Perhaps one way to identify or investigate deviation is to simply view a histogram from
within a package such as SPSS, Minitab, SAS and Statdisk. Assumptions matter for a number of
reasons, according to (Field, 2013; Hayes Cai, 2007) there are perhaps three components of
importance when talking about assumptions, e.g., Parameter estates, confidence intervals, and
significance tests. Download Festival Histograms and p p plots Figure 1 Day one Curve Figure

Return of Martin Guerre
Starting with the premodern society and moving on to our modern society I will compare and contrast
the two societies. In the film The Return of Martin Guerre, the people lived on a pre modern society.
They lived in a agricultural society and this was shown by many reasons. First they had permanent
homes and used animals as well as tools to work their crops. They also used a crop rotation instead of
burning the land. This is just a basic outline of the society that Martin lived in. Looking deeper into
their social structure their society was much different than a modern one. As far as statuses and roles,
Martins society believe that status was more ascribed than achieved. This meant that being an older
person or a parent meant you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Events such as marriage were shared and talked about and doing things as an individual wasnot
common, like Martin originally leaving the village. Another example is that when the travelers came
into town they were not seen as trustworthy even though they claimed that the person they called
Martin was Arnaud. became suspicious not only of the strangers but also Arnaud. Going onto our
modern society there is a clear contrast but some similarities between now and the premodern society.
First, looking at the type of society we live in it is considered a information society. Unlike
agricultural, which was based off of growing crops and creating a food surplus, we create and store
information. We divide our labor like the ag. society but it is highly specialized work. People in an
information society also have a permanent settlement, instead of living in a village we live in suburban
residences outside of large cities. Included in this is commuting for work which means people now
have to travel farther distances to work. The main social focus is based off of consumption not
production like agricultural. Finally, children are seen more as expensive not a helping hand or
insurance when you get older like the premodern societies. Going to statuses and roles in a modern
society, there are very little similarities to the premodern. Unlike premodern,

The Rhetorical Analysis Of President Dwight D. Eisenhower
During his two terms in office, President Dwight D. Eisenhower worked perpetually to resolve Cold
War era tensions and preserve world peace. Bringing to the presidency his stature as supreme
commander of the military forces during World War II, Eisenhower mediated policies concentrated on
enhancing liberty, dignity, and integrity among people and nations. In his farewell address, delivered
on January 17, 1961, the president urges the American people to cooperate in the interests of mutual
respect and love. Using a combination of rhetorical strategies, he inspires them to be diligent in
pursuit of world peace and maintain balance in and among national programs. Eisenhower uses
patriotic diction to convey his overarching message of fostering progress towards the national goal of
peace. He encourages Americans to avoid becoming a community of fear and hate, and to instead, be a
proud confederation of mutual trust and respect, instead (176 177). Eisenhower appeals to the people s
love of America, persuading them to protect the country s political and spiritual heritage. He
acknowledges America has been involved in three major wars among nations. Despite this, it is the
strongest, the most influential and most productive nation in the world (33 35). Using patriotism,
Eisenhower prompts the American people to act in order to maintain respect and dignity for their
country. He asserts, To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people (45). By

Post Impressionism Research Paper
The period of Impressionism and Post Impressionism embarks from ca. 1860 to 1910 CE. For the
Impressionists artists the main focus were the upper middle class, the city and restful activities. They
emphasized in the outdoors, parks, sky, star, sun etc. in hope to obtain directly the effects of light and
the atmosphere, this method was known as en plein air. This technique was influenced by the Japanese
art and photography. They used strokes and touches of pure colors mostly white, almost never black.
They were able to record or attain the shifting play of light on the surface of the object they were
working on. This method allowed the artist to record the effect light had on the eyes of the spectator
without concern for the physical aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artist that practiced the postimpressionism went through an impressionist stage first, before they
evolved to the newly found method of postimpressionism. They all used palette while doing their
work of art, some even developed complicated scientific methods and other began to base their art on
their emotions something that has not being experimented before. Goerges Seurat was a
postimpressionist artist that painted the work titled A Sunday afternoon on the island of La Grande
Jatte, using the technique of divisionism or pointillism. By devoting himself to correct the idea of
impressionism he became known as avant garde, he thought impressionism was superficial and too
improvisational. Avant garde is a term that refers to those artist whose visual illustration would allow
society to be prepared to accept any social changes that the artist themselves envisioned for society to
faced. Seurat painted in an almost abstract way, by using juxtaposing small strokes of unblended
colors, this technique became known as pointillism. Paul Cezanne was another postimpressionist artist
that helped developed the modernist painting of the early twentieth century His work made a great
impact in the style known as cubism, by creating highly well thought out paintings through methodical
application of color that combined drawing and modeling into a single

Gattaca
Gattaca Questions
Part I (Short Answer)
1) Compare the genetic traits of Vincent and Anton. How are they similar? How are they different?
They are tall, brunette and men. They are different because Jerome does not have a heart condition,
where Vincent does. Also, I noticed that Jerome is right handed, and Vincent is left handed; this
provides symmetry.
2) What does the character German do for a living? German s character helps invalids do what they
are told they cannot by finding people with perfect DNA, then sells their genetic codes to lesser
important people in return for a part of their salary trades identities in the black market
3) What is an in valid ? An invalid is a genetically inferior person.

I think this relates to the swimming scenes between Vincent and Anton because whenever Vincent and
Anton would race in the waters to see who would turn back first, Vincent would always come in
second place (silver medal).
3. What name does Jerome choose for himself? Is there any significance to this name? Jerome wants
to be called by his middle name: Eugene. With research on the internet, I have found that Eugene
comes from the Greek word meaning well born , which is a huge symbol in the movie. Also, eugenics
is the science of improving the genetic qualities of a species, which is also very interesting. 4. Do
Vincent and Jerome stick to their new names consistently through the film, or are there moments when
they revert to their original names? It is very rare that they use their original names since Vincent is
practically becoming Jerome (taking his identity).
5. As the story unfolds, Jerome s behavior and especially his remarks about himself reveal a great deal
. How would you describe his character? In this movie, the society only valued perfect individuals,
which means they had a bright future according to their DNA. Jerome realized he would never be seen
as human again because he became crippled after trying to commit suicide. In a way he was broken,
and the only valuable thing about him was his genetic code,

Hypnosis Research Paper
The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of hypnosis is usually a magician convincing a
person to act like a chicken, however, hypnosis is actually an approach that doctors can use to treat
pain, depression, anxiety, phobias, and more. Hypnosis is a state in which a person appears to be under
a trance and is extremely concentrated (Brandt). It is not a new concept. In fact, hypnosis has been
used by the ancient Egyptians over 2,000 years ago (healing power). In the 1770s, the Austrian
physician Franz Anton Mesmer began to study hypnosis scientifically. More recently, it was used
during World War I and World War II to treat soldiers who experienced post traumatic stress disorder
and other mental disorders (World Book). There are some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be used to make patients less nervous before a surgery and can comfort them during recovery. It
can also be used to combat the side effects of chemotherapy, radiation, or a chronic illness (World
Book). Hypnosis can also help the 25% of Americans who avoid and fear the dentist. After a five
minute hypnosis session, patients can be relaxed enough to receive novocaine and the treatment they
need inexpensively and without medication (healing power). Finally, hypnosis can help burn victims.
These people must have their dead skin removed every day for up to a few months. The process is so
painful that most patients must be given powerful painkillers that can be addictive and can cause
confusion, gastrointestinal problems, and breathing trouble. Hypnosis can relax the patient and can
allow them to go through the treatment without experiencing pain. The hypnosis session is
inexpensive and does not require addictive medication (healing power). Despite the evidence that
supports the fact that hypnosis is a legitimate approach to treating conditions, many graduate schools
have little hypnosis training in their psychology programs (Smith). This needs to change so that more
people can become trained hypnotists so the approach can become more widespread. As previously
stated, it would benefit hospitals financially and patients physically. It is free, can treat a variety of
conditions, has no side effects, and is not addictive. Dr. Spiegel believes that it could even be used in
place of addictive opiates. More time and money must be put into research on hypnosis and its
practice as it could save hospitals and patients money in the long run and could help a variety of
patients heal

Freedom Of Religion In The British Colonies
The British Colonists traveled over into the New World for society to work out in their own favor.
However, this was not the case for these colonists; they carelessly came into the New World with the
intent of having their own freedom of religion, being culturally intertwined with the natives already,
and for their own overall independence economically . The British did not make a smooth
transformation into this New World when they first arrived over seas, they brought chaos not only to
the Natives but also the development of their colonies and themselves.
A plan for some of the colonists moving to the New World was freedom of religion, such as the
quakers (located in Pennsylvania) and pilgrims believed in the freedom of living off of your own
specific religion. The puritans on the other hand, settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1629 ,
identified themselves as God s chosen pure angels because of their belief that they were born saved
into the world. They would also turn a blind eye to other denominations and focused on their church to
be an Angelic Catholic Church specifically. Which of course if you know anything about their home
back in Europe. That is their main denomination over in Britain and they do required everyone to
believe in. The puritans brought over their beliefs from England not trying to make it into their own.
For example in England they created various religious laws, that were put into place over from
England but now the laws transferred into

China, India and UAE are among some of the countries that have imposed regulations and monitor the
data traffic. (Jeffrey Hays, 2011) According to analysts China is now the biggest consumer of
smartphones with 640 million customers up to date and growing. Such strict regulations can prove to
be an obstacle in the short term; however the market is too big to be ignored by all producers and is
likely to see strict compliance with the government regulatory bodies. Another concern is the strict

The Origins and History of Corn
Indigenous to the Western hemisphere, corn has traveled all around the world being the center of
religious practices, cuisine, and today drives food production, but the exact origin of this miracle
vegetable is uncertain. Reported by National Geographic s David Braun, corn was developed and
cultivated somewhere in central Mexico over 8,700 years ago. Maize, another name for corn, was not
found naturally in the wild, but came about due to the domestication of a variety of similar species
from the ancient Native Americans. Corn derived from the teosinte plant, which is a wild grass
containing kernels smaller than modern day corn. According to an article in The New York Times,
during the 20th century few scientists could confirm the relation between teosinte and corn, but in the
1930 s, Dr. George W. Beadle conducted many genetic experiments with the two plants and
discovered that they had very similar chromosomes. Beadle concluded that the two plants were
members of the same species, with maize being the domesticated form of teosinte (Carroll).
Native Americans that migrated from Mexico brought along corn to various parts of America.
Therefore, maize dispersed into the southwestern regions of the United States and to Peru. In addition
to this agricultural migration, corn managed to make its way across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe. In
an article written by Lance Gibson and Garren Benson of Iowa State University s Department of
Agronomy, corn was introduced to Europeans during

More importantly, it is their job to provide a safe environment for their kids to foster their child s well
being. In the story Lord of the flies by author William Golding, the author shares his thoughts in a
unique way by telling a story where children got stuck on an island having the freedom to do anything
they like. The children lost their sense morality and became savages; the story shows how children can
be if left uncared for. The freedom of free speech can be abused when people are not responsible for
their actions. Individuals have the right to say what they want but in limits that abide the countries
laws, and to avoid disrespecting other people. Furthermore, spreading hate speech against certain
groups is not considered free speech anymore, it is just slander. Additionally, people have to watch
how far they stretch the term free speech and be responsible with it. Most of the choices people make
affect themselves so they should be responsible for what choices they make. For example, if an
employee wakes up one morning and decides to not go to work this morning. He should be
responsible for what comes next, either calling in sick or even getting fired from work. To be
responsible for our choices is dealing with what happens after making a wrong decision or taking in
the credit or the approval after doing a good

The Floridan Aquifer
The Floridan Aquifer
Water is an endless cycle that repeats itself but doesn t necessarily remain drinkable. Rain feeds
vegetation, evaporation occurs, and then returns to rivers, streams, and lakes and may seep into rocks
and caves underground through limestone and into aquifers. It may take many years before it reaches
the surface. Water is a valuable resource that people tend to mishandle and take for granted. Explorers
have dove into the paths underground to trace paths of water that flow deep under homes, streets,
cities, and pastures only to surface a dirty and contaminated pond. Inside these deep paths explorers
have found tires, oil barrels and chemical containers that most people are unaware of. Over 8 billion

Homeowners that water grass may require large amounts of fertilizer that contribute to high levels of
nitrates in the aquifer, a major source of drinking water. Water containing nitrates contribute to algae
growth and can endanger plants and wildlife in the springs. Lawns with landscaping with non native
plants may also require daily watering and frequent pesticides to keep them healthy and disease free.
Nearly half of all water withdrawn for our supply is used only to water lawns and landscaping.
Population increase in Florida has led to more to transforming rural areas and uninhabited land into
housing, shopping centers, and buildings. Pavement and roads prevent rainwater absorption into the

Summary Of The Rough Rider
One of the lasting impacts of the Spanish American War was the influence of new mass media on the
conflict and the rhetoric utilized to rouse support for the war. Theodore Roosevelt s Rough Riders
cavalry regiment serve as a model for how public perception of the war was shaped by Rough Riders
that was purported to represent American ideals. Christine Bold argues that popular culture and
appeals to national identity allowed the Rough Rider ideal to serve as a justification for the conflict,
while Gail Bederman asserts that this topic is more usefully interpreted through the understanding of
Theodore Roosevelt s ideal man as ideology of masculinity. Specifically, Bederman claims that the
historical significance of the popularity of the ideal of the Western man is that it represents a
Darwinist belief in racial superiority, while Bold argues that the Rough Riders ideal served to justify
the Spanish American War. Christine Bold s article, The Rough Riders at Home and Abroad: Cody,
Roosevelt, Remington, and the Imperialist Hero, tracks the contributions of three important historical
figures: William Cody, Theodore Roosevelt, and Frederic Remington, to the image of the Rough
Riders and the packaged version of the American West and its influence during the Spanish American
War (Bold, 324). After offering background on the conflict, she first considers the contributions of
William Cody and his Wild West Show to the Rough Riders. She details how Cody constructed a

The Sapphires By Wayne Blair Essay
The Sapphires by Wayne Blair was the trigger that led my research into the effects of the Stolen
Generation on Aboriginals in Australia. This film is about an Aboriginal singing group who want to
make a name for themselves, but find it difficult because of the racism against them. This film also
tells the stories of their cousin Kay, who was a half caste and was stolen from her Aboriginal family at
a young age to be taught the ways of white people, and forget her culture. This film made me realise
that I am lucky to live in a country where racism of such an extent in which children are stolen from
their indigenous families, isn t part of our history, and has not affected me personally. From my
research, I have found six main sources that have helped me to understand how large this problem was
and continues to be. My sources: The Sapphires by Wayne Blair; a film about a group of Aboriginal
singers who are affected by racism which is based on a real life singing group; The Sorry Speech , by
Kevin Rudd who was the Prime Minister of Australia in 2008 who explains the damage and
apologises for the way that the actions of past governments tore apart the lives of their indigenous
people. Then there is Blind Eye, the documentary in which people who were stolen are interviewed
and tell their stories. The film, Rabbit Proof Fence this tells the story of two girls who were stolen and
gives us insight into how brutally that they were treated after being ripped apart from

The Security For The Networked Environment
The overall security for the networked environment is weak, and the team was able to move quickly

conduct the following test would have become a more difficult task. However, because packets can
move freely, the systems provide more data than they should. Secondly the team identified the
requirement to segment the network. In its current configuration, Appendix B, the organization is

The Ballistic Missile Submarine
As one of the most powerful nations in the world The United States must protect its borders and
interest more than most countries. With the threat of nuclear war lingering in our domain, the United
States counters this spreading issue with the ballistic missile submarine to provide strategic
deterrence. Ballistic missile submarines have been important to the United States and Russia, as well
as other nuclear powers, since the beginning of the Cold War. Ballistic missile submarines can evade
satellites and discharge their nuclear munitions with little interference. This allows them to be
protected from a first strike directed against nuclear forces, permitting each side to maintain the
capability to launch an overwhelming retaliatory assault, even if all surface based missiles have been
obliterated. Furthermore, the deployment of extremely accurate missiles on quieter submarines
permits an attacker to advance closer to an adversary s coast and launch its missiles.
The ballistic missile submarine is the corner stone of the United States nuclear triad. It is also the only
survivable portion of the triad due to the ballistic missile submarines ever changing locations and
patrols. Much is classified about this stealthy monolith s technology and operating procedure. But its
development from the USS Nautilus to modern day Ohio Class ballistic missile submarine is well

Imaging Modalities Essay
Introduction In the medical world, there are several imaging modalities that are being used in order to
diagnose various pathologies. This research paper will talk about some of these different imaging
ways, as well as how an MRI functions in detail. Nuclear medicine. Edward Williams, BS, AAS,
CNMT of McLaren Greater Lansing spoke to the class and described general details regarding nuclear
medicine. Nuclear medicine is an imaging modality that includes both anatomy and physiology by
delivering various radioactive materials to the patient. The materials react within the patient and their
activity is monitored by the technologist. The patient is injected with radioactive isotopes such as Tc
99m, TI 201, I 123 and I 131. Adverse reactions to radiopharmaceuticals are not very common,
although common safety protocols must be adhered to. After the injection, the patient lays on the table
that has imaging cameras placed above and below the table. (Williams, 2017). Mammography. Katrina
Lynn Steinsultz, BS, RT(R)(M) of LCC spoke in the class regarding this modality. Mammography
includes the imaging of the breast tissue of women and even men. There are four different breast
tissues that exist within the breast: granular tissue, fatty tissue, connective tissues, and ducts. Different

What impressed me the most about this section of the text is how scary it is when Nancy goes in the
Clutters house because once she sees the phone line cut she know that something was wrong
immediately and the way Capote conveys this is incredible because he almost creates a jump scare
environment.
A. Some concrete words that I found in this section were flat, rain, Holcomb, Heartman s Café,
strangers, Santa Fe Railroad, Arkansas River, and Route 50. Some abstract words are blue, high,
gracefully, thickest, unfeared, good looking, consolidated, and flaking. The words that dominate this
section are concrete by far and it is a result of the fact that Capote uses the story being about a events

they apply to the OSH program management. As read in the textbook by Manuele (2008 p. 86) and

what Manuele and his cohorts have to say. Most of my employers may spout off what they desire in
their safety program but don t have the least bit of concern to lead by example, much less show that
they are truly concerned about the safety program for their employees. They have shown blatant
disregard for their safety policies and practices to include their lack of flexing of authority to ensure
that a safety program is followed, for their lack of taking responsibility incorporating the safety
program into all aspects of the business and being accountable for their lack of actions. Needless to
say, the more I learn about how my past and present management is supposed to mold themselves, the
more focused I become to try to get them on the correct tangent. My current employer assumes no
responsibility of safety. He speaks of being safety conscience and this is pretty much the end of the
conversation. He, my present employer, uses intimidation and threatens myself and the other

wanted to give His people a visible sign of His presence, for those whom he rescued from suffering

mentioned above, God s principal purpose of the tabernacle was to give the Israelites a visible sign of

The Tabernacle was a visual presentation of God s holiness because its structure was so secure and no
one who was not cleansed before could enter. Also, for the offerings God gave the Israelites specific
instructions in cleansing the offerings. God s holiness is beyond perfection. In Exodus 27, 29, God
gave specific instructions to Moses about the preparations, construction and plans for the Tabernacle.
He also gave detailed specifications of how the people could encounter Him. This teaches us that we
have to do thing according to what God wants not by how we want to do it.
The tabernacle had three main parts. First, the courtyard was opened to all the Israelites meaning that
everyone was allowed to be there. Second, the Holy place was only allowed for the priests to enter

was permitted to enter but only once a year on the Day of Atonement and by entering the high priest

Cat Breeds And The Sphynx
Think of strange and unusual cat breeds and the Sphynx is bound to come to mind even if you don t
know the breed s name! The Sphynx is often referred to as the hairless cat. Remember Mr.
Bigglesworth, Dr. Evil s cat in the Austin Powers movies? The Sphynx is not a truly hairless cat,
although it appears to be. The Sphynx s skin is often covered by a very soft peach fuzz. These cats
also are known for their wedge shaped heads and curious natures. Their skin is warm and soft to the
touch, feeling like a very fine leather. The Sphynx may or may not have whiskers. Because they do not
have coats to keep them warm, Sphynx cats tend to be very affectionate, often snuggling up to other
animals and people. If you get one of these cats, prepare to make room under the covers at night, as it
will probably want to curl up next to you. Its lack of a coat means no shedding and no need for
brushing. However, the Sphynx still requires plenty of loving care and maintenance. Body oils tend to
accumulate on their skin, while other cats absorb them in their coats. This means that the Sphynx
requires regular bathing. These cats also should have limited exposure to sunlight, as they can develop
a sunburn similar to that of a human. They also should not be exposed to cold temperatures because of
their lack of a coat for protection. In short, the Sphynx is not an outdoor cat. A common fallacy about
the Sphynx is that is hypoallergenic because of its lack of a coat. It is important to

Its ethical implication in relation to stem cell research.
Stems cells, in the recent times have become one of the most disputable and controversial areas of
research. Stem cells are undifferentiated and immature cells that have the capability to divide and
mature into other specialized cells in the body. Therapeutic cloning (in diseases such as Parkinson s,
Multiple sclerosis) by creating embryonic stem cells from somatic cells by the process of somatic cell
nuclear transfer (SCNT) is gaining more interest in the scientific community. Within this context, we
shed light on the misconduct and morale breach by a South Korean scientist Woo Suk Hwang and the
ways we could prevent such incidents in the future.
Two path breaking articles published by Dr. Hwang and his team in the journal Science that mainly
dealt with the derivation of 11 patient specific human embryonic stem cell line from cloned blastocyst

The Negative Effects Of Nuclear Weapons
In a split second, a single atomic bomb can wipe out and level an entire city. For what purpose do
nuclear weapons serve other than to kill and destroy? Therefore, nuclear weapons should not be
produced, much less used, anywhere on Earth. They are incredibly dangerous and devastating to
human life, cause social tension between countries during times of war, and leave toxic radiation in
the environment that fatally affects nearby life for decades after. Nuclear weapons harness nuclear
reactions to generate their power. There are two types: fission/atom bombs, which use nuclear fission,
or thermonuclear/hydrogen bombs. Which use nuclear fusion (Cochran Norris 1). Nuclear weapons
are classified as weapons of mass destruction and are the most dangerous weapons ever created. As of
now, there are about 9,495 known, unretired nuclear weapons; 4,300 in Russia, 4,000 in the US, 60 in
North Korea, etc. (Gould 7). In 1970, the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which
was created to limits the increase of nuclear weapons, went into effect and has been signed by the US,
Russia, the UK, etc. (Nuclear Threat Initiative 1 3). During World War II, on the 6th and 9th of
August, 1945, the United States dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan and Nagasaki, Japan.

The Graphing and Estimating lab involves just that. The lab is designed to collect data from several
tests involving burn time of a candle.
Oxygen, O2, is a kind of gas. A lot of the air we breathe as human beings is oxygen. Which is good

If the difference between the recorded times are more than 10%, add a third trial. Repeat these steps
with each size beaker. Calculate the average time for each beaker and record the data. The next step of
the lab exercise is determining the exact volume of the beakers used in the burn time experiment. Fill
a beaker to the top with water. Carefully pour the water from the beaker into a graduated cylinder.
Reading the meniscus, record the exact volume into a data sheet. Repeat this step with each size
beaker until all volumes are recorded into the data sheet. The final process of the Graphing and
Estimating lab is plotting the recorded data onto a graph. Using the data recorded for burn time, in
seconds, place the data on the vertical axis. Use the horizontal axis for the volume in milliliters. With
the data points plotted determine whether a straight line or a simple curve will best represent the data.
Now, obtain a jar and determine the volume. Fill the jar to the top with water. Carefully pour the water
into a graduated cylinder. Precisely record the data. Using the plotted data on the graph and the simple
curve or straight line to predict how long it would take for the flame to burn out on the candle if it was

The Outsider By Albert Camus
Albert Camus novel The Outsider follows a young French Algerian, Meursault, who lives his day to
day life detached from the rest of the world. Along with his indifference towards others, Meursault has
alienated himself from society with his absurdist ideas and blatant honesty. Camus has structured the
novel into two parts. In Part I we see Meursault s routines, habits and general reactions to daily events
around him. At the end of Part I Meursault kills an Arab man which eventually leads to his murder
trial. Part II shows the murder trial and Meursault s death sentencing. A common theme found within
The Outsider is Absurdism. Camus wanted to show how Man s constant search for meaning in life is
pointless. Through foreshadowing, Camus is able to represent Absurd ideas found within the novel.
The idea is first subtly represented in Part I and only upon critical investigation can it be seen again in
Part II.
Camus has chosen to portray the absurdity of Meursault s emotional detachment and lack of empathy
early on in The Outsider. The novel begins with Meursault s mother s death. He accounts for the
incident in a matter of fact manner by shortly stating Mother died today. Or maybe yesterday, I don t
know (9). This controversial reaction and lack of remorse becomes one of the main factors used
against him later on in the novel. Camus has crafted this statement to shock the reader. It forebodes
that the novel and its main character may not be ideal to our views. The fact that

The Assault Of Sexually Assault Female Inmates
Introduction It was very common that women are being raped by jail guards in the United States.
(Armstrong, 2013). Some you may hear about, most you will never hear about, because of the lack of
media coverage (Armstrong, 2013). This paper will reflect on how jail guards have the access to
sexually assault female inmates every day. This paper will also reflect on where the sexual assault may
occur, when the sexual assault may occur, and the vulnerability of the environment in the jails where
sexual assaults can be committed to the female inmates. These assaults happen in the jail system every
day, and this paper will further more help one to understand the crime itself, and how to deter this
from happening as often or even at all in the female jails. The power that the guards have on female
inmates when imprisoned in jails are at an all time high. (Summer, 2007). These female inmates have
to rely on these guards for several things, such as food, clothing, and different privileges, if any is

  • 2. Optimal Currency Area Discuss whether the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is an optimal currency area. To give an opinion on whether or not the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is an optimal currency area, first an optimal currency area must be defined. An optimal currency area was defined by Pilbeam (2013) as A region for which it is optimal to have a common currency and a common monetary policy . For the ECOWAS to qualify as an optimal currency area it must fulfil certain criteria, it is unlikely to fulfil all of the criteria entirely, but to be deemed an optimal currency area it must score reasonably. The factors are also not necessarily equally weighted, while they are all important some may be more crucial than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Likely meaning that the degree of factor mobility of the ECOWAS is low. Table one: Total (all sector) labor force employment and agricultural labor force employment in ECOWAS economies, 2005 2010 (in thousands) (Ekong and Onye, 2012) Financial Integration This concerns a country s ability to gain external financing. A regional commercial legal framework (Organisation pour l Harmonisation du Droit des Affaires en Afrique OHADA) was put in place in 1996. And cross border restrictions have been lifted on banking and other financial services excluding insurance. (Amadou, 2006) Degree of Openness The more open countries within an economic community are to trading with each other the more they would benefit from a common currency. • 3. The Heroin Epidemic Essay Volunteering and participating in service projects are two of the most rewarding activities in my opinion. Some people may find it was a hassle or only do it because they have to meet the minimum requirement for school or work. Helping others, for me, has always been somewhat second nature to me. Over many years of volunteering I believe I have developed qualities that will stick with me for life and benefit me in my career. As early as freshman year, in high school, I found myself looking for ways to give back. I started by looking for opportunities within school, where I came across the A+ tutoring program, and so my journey of giving back began. While tutoring, my patience for others really evolved, partly by choice and partly because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You would think that people would stop using when they hear the statistics, or when they see their friend die because of it, but the truth is they can t stop because they are already addicted. Alison, a young girl using states, From the day I started using, I never stopped. Within one week I had gone from snorting heroin to shooting it. Within one month I was addicted and going through all my money. (International) The expanding epidemic of unawareness is taking its toll on the adolescents of St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and the rest of the world. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs makes it somewhat easier to understand why people use heroin. The top three levels of the pyramid, 1.social 2.esteem 3.self actualization, show what people are trying to get out of using. Most people will begin using due to peer pressure and trying to fit in. What kids do not realize is that the first time using could lead to addiction. So they will continue using because it makes them feel better about themselves, it becomes a part of who they are. Pretty soon they look around and realize heroin is the only thing they have left, because everyone else has left. These problems teens are facing here in Missouri are the same ones they are facing all over the world. Erwot Forecast Case Forecast 2018 ERCOT Long Term Demand Forecasting Approach prepared by London Economics International LLC December 21st, 2017 Background On December 15th, 2017, ERCOT released its annual System Planning Long Term Hourly Peak Demand and Energy Forecast report for the region for 2018. The report presents methodology, assumptions, and the data used to conduct the forecasting. ERCOT bases the forecast on econometric models describing ERCOT s hourly load as dependent on the number of premises in various customer classes, weather variables, and calendar variables. Furthermore, the premise forecasts are based on econometric autoregressive models ( AR1 ) and certain economic data. With regards to the data used, forecasts of economic and demographic data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each class premise count was subsequently modeled by estimating a relationship between the premises and each of the three pieces of economic data (i.e. housing stock, population, and non farm employment). Issues were encountered in the process of creating premise forecast models for two of the identified weather zones. In mid 2014, there was a notable spike in the number of premises for the Far West and West weather zones; it was around this time when an entity opted into ERCOT s competitive market and when ERCOT s service territory was modified through expansion. As such, premise forecast models were not created for the Far West and West weather zones; instead, the aforementioned zones considered economic variables of key drivers of forecasted demand and energy growth. Hourly Energy Models A relationship was estimated for each of the eight weather zones between the dependent variable, hourly energy, and various time and weather metrics (i.e. month, season, day type, weather variables, interactions, number of premises, and non farm employment/housing stock/population). Weather variables include, for instance, temperature, dew point, cloud cover, wind speed, and cooling and heating degree days. The term assumption sometimes is associated with the word guess, but that s not the meaning as it concerned statistics to ensure that your data. In the area of statistics , the word assumption signifies completeness of the data collected (Triola, 2008) . The assumption aids the researcher in verifying the data because if the data does not meet the requirement, the researcher must, then treat the data in a different way to ensure the best interpolation of the data. Assumption is required in completing statically analyses: histograms, levenes test for homogeneity of variance, normality, normal pp plots as well in the use of chi square (Field, 2013; Hayes Cai, 2007; Triola, 2008)witch use the assumption of random sampling. In the film The Return of Martin Guerre, the people lived on a pre modern society. They lived in a agricultural society and this was shown by many reasons. First they had permanent homes and used animals as well as tools to work their crops. They also used a crop rotation instead of burning the land. This is just a basic outline of the society that Martin lived in. Looking deeper into their social structure their society was much different than a modern one. Going onto our modern society there is a clear contrast but some similarities between now and the premodern society. First, looking at the type of society we live in it is considered a information society. Unlike agricultural, which was based off of growing crops and creating a food surplus, we create and store information. We divide our labor like the ag. society but it is highly specialized work. People in an information society also have a permanent settlement, instead of living in a village we live in suburban residences outside of large cities. Included in this is commuting for work which means people now have to travel farther distances to work. The main social focus is based off of consumption not production like agricultural. In fact, hypnosis has been used by the ancient Egyptians over 2,000 years ago (healing power). In the 1770s, the Austrian physician Franz Anton Mesmer began to study hypnosis scientifically. After a five minute hypnosis session, patients can be relaxed enough to receive novocaine and the treatment they need inexpensively and without medication (healing power). Finally, hypnosis can help burn victims. These people must have their dead skin removed every day for up to a few months. The process is so painful that most patients must be given powerful painkillers that can be addictive and can cause confusion, gastrointestinal problems, and breathing trouble. Hypnosis can relax the patient and can allow them to go through the treatment without experiencing pain. The hypnosis session is inexpensive and does not require addictive medication (healing power). Despite the evidence that supports the fact that hypnosis is a legitimate approach to treating conditions, many graduate schools have little hypnosis training in their psychology programs (Smith). This needs to change so that more people can become trained hypnotists so the approach can become more widespread. As previously stated, it would benefit hospitals financially and patients physically. It is free, can treat a variety of conditions, has no side effects, and is not addictive. However, this was not the case for these colonists; they carelessly came into the New World with the intent of having their own freedom of religion, being culturally intertwined with the natives already, and for their own overall independence economically . The British did not make a smooth transformation into this New World when they first arrived over seas, they brought chaos not only to the Natives but also the development of their colonies and themselves. The Origins and History of Corn Indigenous to the Western hemisphere, corn has traveled all around the world being the center of religious practices, cuisine, and today drives food production, but the exact origin of this miracle vegetable is uncertain. Reported by National Geographic s David Braun, corn was developed and cultivated somewhere in central Mexico over 8,700 years ago. Maize, another name for corn, was not found naturally in the wild, but came about due to the domestication of a variety of similar species from the ancient Native Americans. Corn derived from the teosinte plant, which is a wild grass containing kernels smaller than modern day corn. According to an article in The New York Times, during the 20th century few scientists could confirm the relation between teosinte and corn, but in the 1930 s, Dr. George W. Beadle conducted many genetic experiments with the two plants and discovered that they had very similar chromosomes. Beadle concluded that the two plants were members of the same species, with maize being the domesticated form of teosinte (Carroll). Native Americans that migrated from Mexico brought along corn to various parts of America. Therefore, maize dispersed into the southwestern regions of the United States and to Peru. • 24. The Ballistic Missile Submarine As one of the most powerful nations in the world The United States must protect its borders and interest more than most countries. With the threat of nuclear war lingering in our domain, the United States counters this spreading issue with the ballistic missile submarine to provide strategic deterrence. Ballistic missile submarines have been important to the United States and Russia, as well as other nuclear powers, since the beginning of the Cold War. Ballistic missile submarines can evade satellites and discharge their nuclear munitions with little interference. This allows them to be protected from a first strike directed against nuclear forces, permitting each side to maintain the capability to launch an overwhelming retaliatory assault, even if all surface based missiles have been obliterated. Furthermore, the deployment of extremely accurate missiles on quieter submarines permits an attacker to advance closer to an adversary s coast and launch its missiles. The ballistic missile submarine is the corner stone of the United States nuclear triad. It is also the only survivable portion of the triad due to the ballistic missile submarines ever changing locations and patrols. Much is classified about this stealthy monolith s technology and operating procedure. But its development from the USS Nautilus to modern day Ohio Class ballistic missile submarine is well known by other nations who fight to keep up with the United States projection of power. • 25. Imaging Modalities Essay Introduction In the medical world, there are several imaging modalities that are being used in order to diagnose various pathologies. This research paper will talk about some of these different imaging ways, as well as how an MRI functions in detail. Nuclear medicine. Edward Williams, BS, AAS, CNMT of McLaren Greater Lansing spoke to the class and described general details regarding nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine is an imaging modality that includes both anatomy and physiology by delivering various radioactive materials to the patient. The materials react within the patient and their activity is monitored by the technologist. The patient is injected with radioactive isotopes such as Tc 99m, TI 201, I 123 and I 131. Adverse reactions to radiopharmaceuticals are not very common, although common safety protocols must be adhered to. After the injection, the patient lays on the table that has imaging cameras placed above and below the table. (Williams, 2017). Mammography. Katrina Lynn Steinsultz, BS, RT(R)(M) of LCC spoke in the class regarding this modality. Mammography includes the imaging of the breast tissue of women and even men. • 30. Cat Breeds And The Sphynx Think of strange and unusual cat breeds and the Sphynx is bound to come to mind even if you don t know the breed s name! The Sphynx is often referred to as the hairless cat. Remember Mr. Bigglesworth, Dr. Evil s cat in the Austin Powers movies? The Sphynx is not a truly hairless cat, although it appears to be. The Sphynx s skin is often covered by a very soft peach fuzz. These cats also are known for their wedge shaped heads and curious natures. Their skin is warm and soft to the touch, feeling like a very fine leather. The Sphynx may or may not have whiskers. Because they do not have coats to keep them warm, Sphynx cats tend to be very affectionate, often snuggling up to other animals and people. If you get one of these cats, prepare to make room under the covers at night, as it will probably want to curl up next to you. Its lack of a coat means no shedding and no need for brushing. However, the Sphynx still requires plenty of loving care and maintenance. Body oils tend to accumulate on their skin, while other cats absorb them in their coats. This means that the Sphynx requires regular bathing. These cats also should have limited exposure to sunlight, as they can develop a sunburn similar to that of a human. They also should not be exposed to cold temperatures because of their lack of a coat for protection. In short, the Sphynx is not an outdoor cat. Nuclear weapons harness nuclear reactions to generate their power. There are two types: fission/atom bombs, which use nuclear fission, or thermonuclear/hydrogen bombs. Fill a beaker to the top with water. Carefully pour the water from the beaker into a graduated cylinder. Reading the meniscus, record the exact volume into a data sheet. Repeat this step with each size beaker until all volumes are recorded into the data sheet. The final process of the Graphing and Estimating lab is plotting the recorded data onto a graph. Along with his indifference towards others, Meursault has alienated himself from society with his absurdist ideas and blatant honesty. Camus has structured the novel into two parts. In Part I we see Meursault s routines, habits and general reactions to daily events around him. At the end of Part I Meursault kills an Arab man which eventually leads to his murder trial. Part II shows the murder trial and Meursault s death sentencing. A common theme found within The Outsider is Absurdism. Camus wanted to show how Man s constant search for meaning in life is pointless. Through foreshadowing, Camus is able to represent Absurd ideas found within the novel. The idea is first subtly represented in Part I and only upon critical investigation can it be seen again in Part II. Camus has chosen to portray the absurdity of Meursault s emotional detachment and lack of empathy early on in The Outsider. The novel begins with Meursault s mother s death. He accounts for the incident in a matter of fact manner by shortly stating Mother died today. Or maybe yesterday, I don t know (9).
