Examples Of Direct Characterization In Beowulf
The epic poem Beowulf , written by an anonymous author, focuses around the heroic protagonist
Beowulf. Beowulf travels to the Danes to cease the attacks, of the monster Grendel. Despite being a
major character only in the beginning of the poem, Grendel is greatly characterized as the antagonist
of the story. Authors typically utilize direct and indirect characterization, to describe such characters
of the story. Indirect characterization is characterization through thoughts, actions, and reactions.
Direct characterization is when the author uses exact descriptions to describe the character. The
anonymous author of Beowulf, develops the monstrous character of Grendel by using direct and
indirect characterization. The poem Beowulf develops

How Is Invictus Historically Accurate
It always seems impossible until it s done. (Nelson Mandela quotes) I recently watched the movie
Invictus. After watching the movie, reading the book and doing research on true events, time period
and people I will prove that the film, Invictus, was not historically accurate by discussing the true
historical people and events, summarizing the movie, and comparing and contrasting how the movie
portrayed the true people and events. Nelson Mandela was born in 1918 and was named Rolihlahala
which means troublemaker. He wasn t given the name Nelson until he was seven years old and in
school. (Quick Facts) He was the first in his family to attend a school.(17 facts) His father was Chief
Henry of the Thembu tribe. He lost his land and title because ... Show more content on

Such as when Mandela gave the poem Invictus to Francois. This did not actually happen. Instead
Mandela gave him a copy of the The Man in the Arena passage from the president of the United States
(Mandela). In the movie when the plane flew over the field before the big game, it was not supposed
to happen. Both Mandela and the security guards were shocked at the sight because it was not
approved. Turns out this was just made up. The plane did get permission to fly over the field and all
the the security guards knew that it was going to happen. These are just a few of the things that were
changed for the making of this movie. Although it was a very good movie, it is not completely
historically accurate. I personally really liked this movie. Mainly because it tells a very interesting
story and really catches your attention and keeps it through the entire film. I do not think that this
movie was completely historically accurate. There was many moments where you would notice that
things were not how they were supposed to be. Then when I researched I found many more that I had
not noticed in the movie. Therefore my answer to the question, Is it Hollywood or History? I have
decided that I think this movie is mainly

John Stuart Mill on Liberty and Freedom of Expression
Inhibition of one s liberty, such as their liberty of conscience (i.e. freedom of speech), is unjust by
Millian principles, unless the person s use of deliberation is to voice hate speech. So what is hate
speech? Hate speech is directed towards a member of a group, or the group as a whole, that vilifies on
the basis of the subject s beliefs. In comparison to discriminatory speech, hate speech does not invoke
mere offense, but in most cases is traumatic, and severely impair one s deliberative capacities, or their
mental faculties (judgment, moral preference, intuition, etc...). Liberties have been established to
protect our deliberative abilities, as these are conducive to achieving happiness, which to Mill is the
individual s primary goal. So why should we regulate hate speech? Although it is important to allow
people s freedom of expression, as this is conducive to promoting one s individuality, hate speech can
stigmatize one s character, and for this reason hate speech is not always morally, or legally
permissible. To better understand hate speech s importance, I will describe Mill s argument in favor of
prohibiting hate speech, following this I will object to Mill s rejection of hate speech, finally, I will
show why hate speech should be regulated, and why allowing it is dangerous to humans, and society
as a whole. Freedom of expression is imperative for improving one s character, but not all forms of
opinions , such as hate speech, should have full freedom to be

Age Of Discovery Research Paper
The discovery of the New World was a wonder to the existing world during the 15th century. As the
Age of Discovery drew curious minds toward the high seas, people wanted to find a northwest passage
to the Indies and other parts of Asia for easier access to their silks and spices. Little did they know that
this new foreign land was soon about to become one of the most tremendous and controversial
discoveries of all, and how worlds will soon collide. As Europe was going through a rebirth, this
transformation was known as the Renaissance. It was a period of time where intellectual and
philosophical interest sparked new innovative ideas. It was also the beginning of the motivations for
exploration. Studier ships and new technology, such as the

The Importance Of A Time For A Person s Day
There are many tasks and responsibilities that can arise in a person s day. In particular, juggling
family, work, and school which is a very difficult and tiring task. Being disorganized can lead to a
chaotic and stressful day. Using a time chart is useful and beneficial it can help you stay organized and
keep daily activities more manageable. The first step to balancing my studies and family is to use a
time chart. The time chart helps to keep my tasks in order and completed on time. It is helpful in
reminding me about upcoming appointments whether it is at school or work, not to mention the other
unexpected events that can also happen to make you forget what you were doing. Most of all, my time
chart helps me look forward to taking breaks that I longed for after a long day s work. Even with a
huge workload a time chart can help keep your to do list up to date, it helps you concentrate on one
task at a time, and it helps you prioritize what needs to be done first. It is important to schedule your
day the night before or when first arising. The first step I take to scheduling is to writing down my
daily duties. Then find out what appointment I have pending. Next, I rearrange and organize to fit my
schedule. This will keep duties in order and also help me find what is the most important daily
activities. Do not forget to review the chart after completion; this is very crucial. This time chart lays
out a step by step approach to the day. It also helps to remind me how long I

A Good Example Of Environment
An industries environment allows organizations to survive and strive by undertaking the opportunities
presented to them and overcoming the threats that may come in its way. A good example of
environment influence would be the opportunity presented to smartphone application writers created
by organizations such as Apple and Samsung with the lines of smart phones Iphone and Samsung
Galaxy and at the same time a threat to newspaper companies, as the usage of online sources of
information increases.
The study of strategic management, through the use of various frameworks, gives organizations the
possibility to identify their position in the industry in respect to its competitors. Moreover this allows
them to set realistic goals to pursue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly the political environment refers to the influence governments may have on the industry s
environment. When looking at Ryanair, an airline with 1,600 routes around the european union and
north africa, legislation varies between governments of different countries, forcing them to adapt to
the different tax policies between countries such as Spain and Morocco, however government taxes
don t vary as much given most flights are within the EU however there is passenger service charge,
which some airports have which is a charge made by the airport authority to an airline for the use of
the terminal, runway, emergency services, security facilities (Ryanair, 2015). Furthermore there is a
legislation on the maximum hours a pilot can fly for, which forces Ryanair to hire more employees.
Additionally any passengers on flights which are delayed or cancelled have the right to refund, hence
the self pride Ryanair have on being the best on time airline with 91% OF RYANAIR FLIGHTS ON
TIME IN JUNE (Ryanair,2015).
Secondly the economic influences of the framework can vary from the exchange rates to taxes to
economic growth. Due to the economic crisis suffered by the EU, oil prices have seen a rise in recent
years, fuel for low cost airlines is considered the biggest expenses, therefore a system of,

Designing An Effective Home Office
Introduction The advent of lightning fast computers in addition to the Internet, have allowed busy
professionals the opportunity to work from home with all the tools needed to be successful. Creating
an effective home office can be a time consuming and costly endeavor; however, with proper
planning, the task can be as simple and headache free as possible. An efficient home office will
include certain hardware components, a properly configured network connection in addition to
software to enhance productivity and secure your and security software and protocols to limit risk.

The speakers and microphone are built in as well. If I am working out of my home, no matter what
profession, my workspace will be limited. Therefore, I want to keep my equipment as powerful and
compact as possible. A basic model of this computer starts at $1799 (Apple Inc, n.d.), which is a steep
investment price. However, my personal experience with the reliability of the computer makes the
price worth it. The printer used in my home office will be the Canon PIXMA MX922 All in One
Printer (Canon U.S.A Inc., n.d.). I currently own this model for my personal use and feel that it will be
a satisfactory printer for home business needs as well. Any bulk printing I would need done, I would
send to a local office store or printing shop. Network Configuration The iMac desktop computer
comes equipped with a built in wireless card. This card enables the computer to connect to a wireless
Internet signal with no other computer based hardware. Wireless Internet access is preferable to
hardwired connections, as it reduces cord clutter. I will utilize the Linksys EA6900 AC1900 Smart Wi

this particular router because PCMag.com described it as perfect for multi device home networks
(Lynn, 2014) . As our home has numerous wireless devices, from tablets to an HDTV, I would need a

Comparing Cabaret And Hedda Gabler
These two plays may seem as if they have differences for example one is a musical which is Cabaret,
but they have similarities and many ways also. These two plays set into the lives of individuals who
are not satisfied with their lives, even though society may assume so. Since everyone is in their own
lives trying to make it the best as they can, they all do not realize how unsatisfied one of the characters
may be with their lives. Throughout this paper we will be able to see the similarities of these plays.
These two plays were chosen to be compared due to the position the characters were placed in, due to
their times and where they were living at in those times. Hedda Gabler is based on a life of a woman
who is viewed to have all she needs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

end up in relationships they were not satisfied with as they were not living the lives they wanted. They
did not love the men, they were living with. They once were able to live the life, but once they started
living with the men they were with, all they did was stay at home. Although Hedda was legally

Reflection On Cuban Experience
Cuban Experience
Throughout my experience in Cuba, there were a lot of experiences that stood out to me that I thought
about in depth. These experiences ranged from conversations about politics, to things I observed, to
experiences we had during the day and night time. Many of my conversations with people from Cuba
were in Spanish, and I could feel my Spanish progressing throughout the week. I gained many insights
from these interactions and site visits; however, there were three that stood out to me the most. The
story of our site visit with Gregory, what I saw a police officer do, and the conversation I had with a
man on our way to Porto Habana were the three examples that I can describe, interpret, and evaluate
the most in depth. Gregory: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After saying this, he said, ¿Entiendes? Mantando la gente which translates to, Do you understand?

Spanish, that the blockade was making it so that the country can t get what it needs in terms of food,

visually upset. In an effort to calm him down, as well as stating what I personally believe, I told him

Positive Principles Of Confucianism
To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put
the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our
personal life, we must first set our hearts right.
(Confucius)
The words above belong to Confucius, who was one of the most respected philosophers of all time. He
founded a social and political system of philosophy, and transmitted his ideas to a group of disciplines.
His teachings were later collected in a book known as the Analects by his followers. Confucius is

the examples of Confucian family rituals, and these rituals were already existed in Chinese family
system before Confucius, too. Confucius expressed these traditions in a clear and impressive way. As
a result of this, the Confucian family rituals have reached up to the present day , and they are still
being complied today. Women and men are still expected to be respectful and protective, children are

Theories On How The Universe Formed
Theories of How The Universe Formed There are many theories on how the universes was created.
Some being ideas based on science and some being mere myths. The Big Bang Theory is a science
based theory, it gives a rational explanation as to how the universe might have come into existence.
The Big Bang theory states that all matter of the universe started a one giant atom which exploded
with a big bang sending dust a gas in all directions. That gas and dust then forming the suns and
planets we know today. This theory was first stated by George Lemaitre, a Belgian scientist and priest,
in 1927. His idea was mostly ignored until 1929 when an astronomer by the name of Edwin Hubble
discovered that the universe is indeed expanding. Now, the Big Bang theory in the perfect reason why
this expanding would be occurring, and this expanding is evidence that some where in history, the
universe must have started at one point. The Big Bang theory explains how the dust and gas got here
to form the stars and planets, and why the the universe would be expanding. Some more evidence of
the Big Bang is in the mid 1960s, astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson were having difficulty
tuning into the microwave signals that come from the Milky Way. They kept picking up a weak

The Creation Of The Wall Of China
The creation of the wall of China was the most spectacular construction project of all time. It is the
most spectacular because of the amount of people who worked on it, the length of the wall, and the
time period it was built in. The wall of china was built to keep the Chinese in, and the rest of the world
out. It was built under the rule of emperor Shi Huangdi. The creation of the Great Wall of China was
actually the linking of walls that were already built by other kingdoms. It was built after the
unification of china in the beginning of the Qin Dynasty (221 206 BC). It was a massive construction
project in which a lot of time was invested, and in which many suffered. It was the most ambitious
engineering project ever conceived. This extraordinary project could have never been built without the
unification of China. Before china was unified, everything was chaotic and disastrous. Previous to the
unification of china, I don t think people could have come together to build a wall as such. China was
made up of a number of states each fighting for supremacy. There were a number of wars going on
between the different states and neither was successful. It wasn t until the Qin kingdom rose and
destroyed the other kingdoms. They destroyed most of the kingdoms but one was still left, they were
called the Chu. They fought with them for about fifteen year and then they finally surrendered. They
were ruthless and ambitious therefore the only one who could have unified China. Two

The Manhattan Project Essay
The Manhattan Project was a very important event throughout the World War II history. It began the
development of the atomic bomb and other nuclear weapons that were of good help during the war. It
first began with a German scientist separating the uranium atom, which made people be scared of
what Hitler might be capable of. Also Hitler and his people had begun discovering new types of
weapons that were useful for them in the war. Something that apparently Hitler did not quite think
about, was the persecution of Jewish scientists such as Albert Einstein, who could very well use his
abilities against Hitler. Albert Einstein was a Jewish refugee in the United States. Another very

On July of 1945, J Robert Oppenheimer tests the first bomb at Trinity State, near Alamogordo, New

on top of a tower. Once exploded, there was a blinding flash which could be seen from 200 miles
away. It also grew up to 40,000 feet and damaged some of the homes near it that were 100 miles away.
After this explosion President Truman, all the way from Postdam, Germany, declares that the project
was successful. Later on we see how there were more bombings being made, not only this one at
Trinity State. The United States was trying to make Japan surrender but they denied it. Because of this
the United States developed a new bomb named little boy which was detonated in Hiroshima, Japan.
On August 6, 1945 it exploded with an altitude of 1,750 feet. Over 69% of Hiroshima s buildings were
destroyed and about 7% damaged. About 80,000 (or about 30%) of the people in Hiroshima were
killed instantly and another 70,000 were injured. After this occurring, Japan still didn t want to

named Fat Man took place at Nagasaki, Japan. This attack destroyed about 44% of the city, killed
about 35,000 people and about 60,000 were injured. Emperor Hirohito from Japan had enough of

All Safe Insurance Case Study
The Issues
The management of All Safe Insurance Company has realized that there has been some dishonesty
among employees of the company for the past two months regarding the number of hours they have
worked for the company in a day. Please note that the purpose of this organization is to give the best to
the clients and customers and such malpractice in the company may result to an overall poor
performance of the organization. Some of the highlighted issues include employees having other
employees sign them in and out and some do not even indicate the time they have signed out. Such
kinds of practices encourage dishonestly among the employees and will generally affect the
performance of the organization. To control the mater, the management, through consultation with
other employees of the organization, has come up with a new policy regarding how employees should

The Human Development Index Is a Better Measure of...
I will advance the thesis that the Human Development Index (HDI) is a better measure of economic
performance than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. By saying that the HDI is a better
system to measure economic performance, I mean that because the HDI highlights the trend between
longevity, education and economic growth, it calculates a better analysis of an economy (Costa,
Steckel 1997, p. 71). In contrast, the GDP per capita only accounts for the gross domestic product
without paying any attention to other factors of an economy (Hawthorn, Sen 1997, p. 60). With this
being said, my thesis asserts that the HDI is a better measure for economic performance because it

imperative to consider education when calculating the development and performance of an economy.

new ideas to enhance their productivity and output, which is an essential part of competing against
other economies in the international arena. To be more specific, when a population is able to adapt
new technology and idea they increase their speed of production, which, in turn, increases their output,
which means, in simple terms, new technology and ideas increase an economy s growth because it
allows them to produce more, faster and trade more, faster. This is best explained in Invest in Humans,
Technological Diffusion, and Economic Growth that says, the better educated farmer is quicker to
adopt profitable new processes and products since, for him, the expected payoff from innovation is
likely to be greater and the risk likely to be smaller; for he is better able to discriminate between
promising and unpromising ideas, and hence les likely to make mistakes (Nelson, Phelps 1966, p.70) ,
while the less educated farmer is prudent to delay the introduction of new technology until he has
concrete evidence of its profitability, which is often from his

Mistakes In A Midsummer s Night Dream
We often don t notice how our mistakes, however slight or dire they may seem, impact the world and
people around us. In the story, A Midsummer s Night Dream, William Shakespeare shows us how a
small fault can cause many issues. Sometimes, the smallest mistake can have many consequences. At
the beginning of the night, Robin is told to put a love potion in the eyes of the Athenian man. On page
fifty eight, after finding Lysander and Hermia, Robin says: Night and silence! Who is there? Weeds of
Athens he doth wear. This is he, my master said, despised the Athenian maid. (Shakespeare 2.2.76 79)
He places the love potion in the eyes of Lysander, unaware of his mistake between the two Athenian
couples. After waking, the first person Lysander

What Are The Things I Learned In Dare
These are things that I learned in DARE. The Introduction, DARE is Define, Assess, Respond, and
Evaluate. First, drug abuse, what is drug abuse? When friends or strangers offer you drugs, which is
bad. The only drugs are good are or is medicine your doctor gives you when you have strep throat
which is amoxicillin. When strangers or friends offer you drugs you should say: no. Which is the
option you do choose, but if they have something wrong with them and start attacking you or beat you
up, then feel free to kick then in the shin or punch them and run if it s after school but with the
stranger, run away even if you are an adult still do.
The 3 Paragraphes part 1: Tobacco. Tobacco includes smoking and that s it, smoking includes
cigarettes and cigars. The same stranger and friend or friends who offered drugs thinks it s a good idea
to offer you cigarettes. If you think cigarettes are good for you, then you don t know what smoking is.
For the young ones reading this and don t know what tobacco or smoking is, then i should probably
tell them before it s too late. The young ones who don t want to read this then they should ask their
parents, but i m gonna tell them otherwise. Smoking or tobacco is when you have a cigarette or a cigar
and you light it with a lighter, it s really bad to smoke. Why is it so dangerous or bad to smoke?

Implementing A New Business At Abc Medical Center
Creating a new business is challenging, expanding an already established facility can be even more
daunting. To ensure a successful venture requires the right set of marketing skills. Marketing is
execution of the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of goods, ideas, and services
(Berkowitz, 2006, p.4). In health care facilities this means developing a product or service to address
health issues; establishing a price individuals and insurance companies are willing to pay; knowing
what place is convenient for both the patient and the provider to give and receive treatment. Lastly,
promotion of the product or service to ensure patients know what is available to address the health
needs of the general public. These four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be accomplished through strategic marketing skills. Strengths for this practice include
orthopedic surgeons who are dedicated to their field, have the ability to offer diagnostics, surgery,
follow up physical therapy in one location, and deliver exceptional patient care. Whereas weaknesses
include being a new orthopedic practice in a highly saturated area with a less generous marketing fund
than competitors. Potential customers include individuals with orthopedic needs, more specifically,
those requiring hip and knee replacements, however other orthopedic patient cases can be evaluated
for treatment. Satisfaction and repeat business can be achieved from the proper level of marketing.
The current market is strong and has the potential of building a new and continued customer base,
however, there are several other competing facilities with much larger marketing budgets that may be
able to reach more customers on a broader base. Product, according to Eric Berkowitz (2011), is
goods, services, or ideas offered by a health care facility. This is the first area to address in marketing.
Products available with in ABC Medical Center are both tangible and intangible. Because the
intangible products are harder to evaluate, marketing has to show the tangible benefits from their use
(Berkowitz, 2011, p. 214). The products that ABC Medical Center has to offer is the availability of
diagnostic screening, orthopedic surgery, and physical therapy for its patients. The

Bottled Water In Schools
We appreciate you creating new policies to make sure all classrooms have water, and even letting
students pick their choice of water, whether it s a drinking fountain that uses tap water, a water
dispenser, or individual bottles of water. I am writing to propose that the best form of drinking water is
from drinking fountains that use tap water. I believe this because tap water is more environmentally
responsible, as well as better for your health and safety.
One reason that I believe bottled water is not suitable to give to everyone in the school, is because it
causes a lot of environmental problems. According to The Story of Bottled Water by Annie Leonard,

In the online article, How does Pollution Affect Humans by The World Counts, Breathing polluted air
puts you at a higher risk for asthma and other respiratory diseases. When exposed to ground ozone for
6 to 7 hours, scientific evidence shows that healthy people s lungs function decreased and they
suffered from respiratory inflammation (The World Counts par. 4 ). THose are just some of the health
problems that pollution causes This information matters to me because it shows that bottled water not
only affects the Earth by causing pollution, but that pollution also causes health problems. Not only
does it affect the Earth by causing pollution, but bottled water can directly affect you. According to the
online article Bottled Water vs. Tap Water: Rethink What You Drink by Priscilla Torres, The EPA
regulates tap water, while the FDA oversees bottled. Yet FDA oversight doesn t apply to water
packaged and sold within the same state, leaving some 60 to 70 percent of bottled water, including the
contents of watercooler jugs, free of FDA regulation (Torres pg. 2 par.5). This matters to me because it
means if every student in the Natomas district drank from bottled water, some of their water might
contain chemicals because it wasn t checked. Chemicals are definitely a threat because Torres
continues to say, Scientists in Germany found that the longer a bottle of water sits around (in a store,
in your home), the more antimony it develops. High concentrations of antimony can cause nausea,
vomiting, and diarrhea (Torres pg. 3 par. 7). This information is important because it shows that just
keeping water bottles for a long period of time can cause many health problems. If every student had
to drink bottled water, they would constantly be getting sick and spreading their sickness to other
students. So, bottled water causes many health problems, through pollution, and because there may be

New York City Building Research Paper
Guide on researching history of buildings in New York City
A history of a building can be of interest to many people. This may be someone s academic project or
even a project of a company. It could also be out of personal interest, just curious to know more about
a specific building; like the one they are living or working in or some other popular monument.
Whatever the reason may be, it is possible to obtain detailed information regarding every aspect of a
building. This can be done, but requires a lot of patience and plenty of research. There are many
sources that can be used. Some of the more popular sources are books, the online data available via
the Internet, a Public Library and many more like offices of public records.
How to research history of a building in New York?
There are several methods of performing the research. Either way it takes a lot of effort and involves
putting together pieces of information from many different sources. Here are a few steps to get started:
There is a very good chance that the building for which you require information has already been well
documented. Hence the first thing to do would be to check if that is so. The best place to check for this
is the preservation office. This is an office at the state history which has well documented information

Analysis Of The Poem Of Modern Poetry By Wallace...
Taking a broad view at one of Wallace Stevens s poems shows clues that Stevens believes in
Heraclitus s theory. One poem in particular, Of Modern Poetry, is a good example of Wallace Stevens
work because it is about the subject matter of poetry (Gallagher https://pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/login?
url=http://search.proquest.com. pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/docview/216773018?accountid=13172). In the
poem it is obvious that neither Wallace Stevens or his poems will tell you what they are about until
they have been heavily studied, and this is a major component of the Heraclitus theory because it is
not straight forward and requires that the reader think critically to uncover the answers (Gallagher

about in twenty eight lines, broken into three sections by indentation rather than by space breaks or
numbers, he covers the state of poetry in the past; spends the larger portion of the poem on
prescriptions for the present; and, in the last four lines, presents the only must that modern poetry must

The Economics Of Happiness Is An Indicator Of Economic...
For centuries, economists have deliberated on the most effective ways to promote growth, to increase
employment, to boost consumption and to eliminate poverty, but where does this all lead? Surely these
are all means to an end? Today, some economists may define the end as happiness. This essay will
explore the potential benefits and drawbacks of using happiness as an indicator of economic success,
analyze how it can be measured and examine the current theories on whether happiness can cause
economic growth, or vice versa. Whilst economic growth first and foremost implies an increase in
GDP per capita, increasing happiness can be attributed to many different determinants such as health,
education, stability and inequality. Therefore, the economics of happiness is a multi layered and rather
subjective area that divides economists when asked whether happiness can cause economic growth.
To begin with, Stevenson and Wolfers (2008) propose that as countries grow richer, their citizens
report higher levels of satisfaction. This is achieved not only through higher income per capita levels,
but through the expected byproducts of an improving economy such as increases in levels of
education, access to healthcare, opportunities for employment and equality. Non income determinants
can be weighted against GDP levels to assess whether economic growth does impact happiness. For
example, using the Corruptions Perceptions Index it was found that Sub Saharan Africa, one of the
poorest

Obesity Is The Reason Our Youth
Introduction Childhood obesity has been on a steady incline over the past 30 years and is considered a
serious public health concern, especially in elementary school aged children. According to the US
Surgeon General, nearly one in three children are overweight or obese (US Department of Human
Health Services, 2014). The American Heart Association (2010) has age and sex specific growth
charts that show the calculation of children s BMI using their height and weight. When children s
weight is well above the average for their height and age they are classified as obese. Children BMI
for age is in the 95th percentile or higher is considered to be obese. Obese children normally consume
more energy in the form of food and drinks then they burn off with physical exercise (Kids Health,
2014). Our nation s obesity epidemic effects are immense: taxpayers, communities, and families spend
hundreds of billions of dollars each year in medical costs and attempts to end childhood obesity
(Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2014). Obesity is the reason our youth is predicted to live shorter
lives than our parents and we need to change this. Childhood obesity has long term harmful effects on
a child s future health. Obese children are more likely to have high blood pressure and high
cholesterol which put them more at risk for cardiovascular disease in the future (Center for Disease
Control Prevention, 2014). Childhood obesity can lead to type 2 diabetes, cancer, asthma, joint

Prevalence, Pathology And Associated Risk Factors For...
Prevalence, pathology and associated risk factors for Dictyocaulus filaria infection among slaughtered
sheep.
Introduction
Sheep are an important part of the global agricultural economy. Domestic sheep provide a wide array
of raw materials. Wool is one of the first textiles although in the late 20th century wool prices began to
fall as the result of the popularity and cheap prices for synthetic fabrics . Sheep meat and milk are the
earliest staple proteins consumed by human civilization after the transition from hunting and gathering
to agriculture. Byproducts from the slaughter of sheep are also of value; sheep tallow can be used in
candle and soap making while, sheep bone and cartilage has been used to furnish carved items such as
dice and buttons .
Parasitic nematodes cause diseases of major economic importance in sheep .The lungworm ,
Dictyocaulus filaria , represents one of these nematodes inhabits bronchi and bronchioles and cause
parasitic bronchitis (commonly known as husk) particularly in young sheep ( Holzhauer et al., 2011).
Dictyocaulus filaria has direct life cycle, embryonated eggs are coughed up or swallowed and hatch in
the small intestine then first stage larvae are passed in faeces. Under favorable environmental
conditions, first stage larvae moult to second stage larvae and then infective en sheathed third stage

Persuasive Essay On Boxer Briefs
Boxer briefs are also called tight boxers. They are longer in the leg like boxer shorts and tight fitting
like briefs. This male undergarment is mostly worn in United States, United Kingdom, Australia and
Canada. Boxer briefs are a blend of both shorts and briefs. Men are more comfortable than boxers
because briefs don t ride up like traditional boxers. This type of underwear is available in various
colors and patterns.
You can find assortments of boxer briefs from Spiderman prints to more conservative, clean looking
white ones. You can derive from the name that it is fusion of boxer types and brief type underwear.
Boxer briefs resemble cycling shorts which are worn by athletes or professional players. Most men
wear this undergarment because it can cover more area, from the waist down up to thighs, and feature
the snug fit characteristic of briefs. This type of underwear is mostly worn by martial artists and
wrestlers.
Men s boxer briefs are available in knitted versions which can be worn during the night. In the past
this type of boxer was worn for comfort and durability but now it has been shifted to sexiness. Many

Aloe Vera, And The Vitality Of Youth Essay
Aloe Vera, also called simply Aloe, is a flowering, cactus like succulent plan that thrives in dry, hot
climates, and is believed to be at least 6,000 years old. Kumari is the Ayurvedic name for aloe, and is
translated as the vitality of youth (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 66). Native to Africa ( Aloe, 2016), it is
grown in tropical and sub tropical areas ( Aloe UMMC, 2015). Different parts of the plant have
different uses. The leaves, which are thick (cactus like) and fibrous, have three layers. The central pulp
contains gel that is extracted for use both topical and internal use (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 67). The
fibrous part of the plant is used to make a laxative from the Aloe latex that is extracted. Some products
are made using the whole crushed leaf, and contain the latex and gel ( Aloe WebMD, 2016).
The gel made from Aloe Vera, either pure or as part of a mixture, is commonly used in moisturizing
products for skin, is often included in sun block/sunscreen ( Aloe, 2016).
It also has a wide variety of medicinal purposes, including burns, wounds, skin irritations, and
constipation both historically and currently. Recently, it has not been recommended for use as a
laxative. Today, Aloe is still one of the most common herbs used for a multitude of purposes ( Aloe
UMMC, 2015, para. 1). It is also considered as a tonic for the liver (Lad, 2009, p. 130).

Taguchi s Design Of Experiments Analysis
In the present study two types of methodologies have been effectively utilized to conduct the

the machinability of uni directional glass fiber reinforced (GFRP) composites [42, 60]. Recently, some

4.2. Design of Experiments (DOE) Over 60 to 70 % of machined products have been rejected due to
lack of attention in machinability evaluation before machining. This may be lead to indirect affect on
cost effective escalation in production industries. Therefore, predicting the outcome by introducing a
change of the preconditions and this will be reflected on the results. Taguchi s DOE would be more
effective and acceptable tool for technical investigations. The desirable machinability evaluation
thoroughly obtained by statistical design of experiments (DOE). Reliable results also would be
obtained by full factorial or partial factorial technique. 4.2.1 Taguchi method Taguchi methods have
been widely used in scientific and engineering design. This technique is focusing to formulating the
performance characteristics of parametric settings with deviation [127, 128]. In this methodology, the
experimental settings (DOE) are arranged systematic as per orthogonal array (OA) that can be reduced
wastage of time and minimize the number of experiments [129]. The effect of different factors on the
performance characteristics in a given combination runs can be examined by using the orthogonal
array (OA). Simultaneously OA experimental design will also provides a number of input factors to
permit the study of their effects and interconnections with the experimental output. Taguchi

Court Terminology
In the United States, we have laws that require punishment for people that conduct themselves in a
negative social behavior. Understanding how our court systems utilize this legislation to ensure that
negative social behavior can be corrected. When looking at how these laws are placed into use in our
criminal justice systems, one must understand the difference between the court terminology of law on
the books and law in action (Neubauer and Fradella, 2009).
When studying the language of law on the books, a person must understand that this means the letter
of the law (Neubauer and Fradella, 2009). These laws are seen in different places such as both state
and federal legislation in the United States that find their force from the Constitution ... Show more

When looking at the other element of the functionality of law in our court systems, the law in action,
one must understand that this is literary the way the actors in the courtroom interpret the letter of the
law. These players in the court room are the judges, lawyers, the defendant, and victims (Neubauer

The Importance Of Following Directions In Law Enforcement
Following directions is one of the most important skills in life. The ability to follow direction the way
you are told and the way it is suppose to be done is a recipe for success. Following directions helps
avoid preventable mistakes that may cause costly mistakes and as it pertains to law enforcement,
someone s life. Making sure you are paying attention to instruction is critical, and nowhere is this truer
than in the workplace. Always follow steps carefully, know what you are supposed to do and when
you are supposed to do it. In regards to law enforcement following directions is crucial to the safety of
yourself and to others whether it be, firearms, officer survival, enforcing the law, or just contacting a
citizen. Following directions on a gun range is extremely important because when there are people
other then yourself with loaded weapons you need to be aware of everything that is going on at all
times. If you don t understand something or don t hear a command given by an instructor, you need to
as Mr. Robertson would say, speak up! . Any mistake made on the gun range is preventable, it s up to
us the students to make sure we are following our safety rules and following directions to keep the
class running smoothly for everyone. Following directions is more then just listening to someone give
orders, it can be something such as obeying the policies set forth by your agency. Following direction
is paying attention to detail and doing things right the first time. The

Consequently, the question asked is how this rapid method of advancement in technology and science

the prices of raw materials such as cotton went down and productivity went up. According to

  • 4. How Is Invictus Historically Accurate It always seems impossible until it s done. (Nelson Mandela quotes) I recently watched the movie Invictus. After watching the movie, reading the book and doing research on true events, time period and people I will prove that the film, Invictus, was not historically accurate by discussing the true historical people and events, summarizing the movie, and comparing and contrasting how the movie portrayed the true people and events. Nelson Mandela was born in 1918 and was named Rolihlahala which means troublemaker. He wasn t given the name Nelson until he was seven years old and in school. (Quick Facts) He was the first in his family to attend a school.(17 facts) His father was Chief Henry of the Thembu tribe. He lost his land and title because ... Instead Mandela gave him a copy of the The Man in the Arena passage from the president of the United States (Mandela). Turns out this was just made up. The plane did get permission to fly over the field and all the the security guards knew that it was going to happen. These are just a few of the things that were changed for the making of this movie. Although it was a very good movie, it is not completely historically accurate. I personally really liked this movie. Mainly because it tells a very interesting story and really catches your attention and keeps it through the entire film. I do not think that this movie was completely historically accurate. There was many moments where you would notice that things were not how they were supposed to be. Then when I researched I found many more that I had not noticed in the movie. Therefore my answer to the question, Is it Hollywood or History? I have decided that I think this movie is mainly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. John Stuart Mill on Liberty and Freedom of Expression Inhibition of one s liberty, such as their liberty of conscience (i.e. freedom of speech), is unjust by Millian principles, unless the person s use of deliberation is to voice hate speech. So what is hate speech? Hate speech is directed towards a member of a group, or the group as a whole, that vilifies on the basis of the subject s beliefs. In comparison to discriminatory speech, hate speech does not invoke mere offense, but in most cases is traumatic, and severely impair one s deliberative capacities, or their mental faculties (judgment, moral preference, intuition, etc...). Liberties have been established to protect our deliberative abilities, as these are conducive to achieving happiness, which to Mill is the individual s primary goal. So why should we regulate hate speech? Although it is important to allow people s freedom of expression, as this is conducive to promoting one s individuality, hate speech can stigmatize one s character, and for this reason hate speech is not always morally, or legally permissible. To better understand hate speech s importance, I will describe Mill s argument in favor of prohibiting hate speech, following this I will object to Mill s rejection of hate speech, finally, I will show why hate speech should be regulated, and why allowing it is dangerous to humans, and society as a whole. Freedom of expression is imperative for improving one s character, but not all forms of opinions , such as hate speech, should have full freedom to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Big Bang Theory is a science based theory, it gives a rational explanation as to how the universe might have come into existence. The Big Bang theory states that all matter of the universe started a one giant atom which exploded with a big bang sending dust a gas in all directions. That gas and dust then forming the suns and planets we know today. This theory was first stated by George Lemaitre, a Belgian scientist and priest, in 1927. His idea was mostly ignored until 1929 when an astronomer by the name of Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe is indeed expanding. Now, the Big Bang theory in the perfect reason why this expanding would be occurring, and this expanding is evidence that some where in history, the universe must have started at one point. The Big Bang theory explains how the dust and gas got here to form the stars and planets, and why the the universe would be expanding. The creation of the Great Wall of China was actually the linking of walls that were already built by other kingdoms. It was built after the unification of china in the beginning of the Qin Dynasty (221 206 BC). It was a massive construction project in which a lot of time was invested, and in which many suffered. It was the most ambitious engineering project ever conceived. This extraordinary project could have never been built without the unification of China. Before china was unified, everything was chaotic and disastrous. Previous to the unification of china, I don t think people could have come together to build a wall as such. I will advance the thesis that the Human Development Index (HDI) is a better measure of economic performance than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. By saying that the HDI is a better system to measure economic performance, I mean that because the HDI highlights the trend between longevity, education and economic growth, it calculates a better analysis of an economy (Costa, Steckel 1997, p. 71). In contrast, the GDP per capita only accounts for the gross domestic product without paying any attention to other factors of an economy (Hawthorn, Sen 1997, p. 60). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin, when a population is educated they will have the opportunity to adapt new technology and new ideas to enhance their productivity and output, which is an essential part of competing against other economies in the international arena. To be more specific, when a population is able to adapt new technology and idea they increase their speed of production, which, in turn, increases their output, which means, in simple terms, new technology and ideas increase an economy s growth because it allows them to produce more, faster and trade more, faster. This is best explained in Invest in Humans, Technological Diffusion, and Economic Growth that says, the better educated farmer is quicker to adopt profitable new processes and products since, for him, the expected payoff from innovation is likely to be greater and the risk likely to be smaller; for he is better able to discriminate between promising and unpromising ideas, and hence les likely to make mistakes (Nelson, Phelps 1966, p.70) , while the less educated farmer is prudent to delay the introduction of new technology until he has concrete evidence of its profitability, which is often from his ... Because the intangible products are harder to evaluate, marketing has to show the tangible benefits from their use (Berkowitz, 2011, p. 214). • 26. Bottled Water In Schools We appreciate you creating new policies to make sure all classrooms have water, and even letting students pick their choice of water, whether it s a drinking fountain that uses tap water, a water dispenser, or individual bottles of water. I am writing to propose that the best form of drinking water is from drinking fountains that use tap water. I believe this because tap water is more environmentally responsible, as well as better for your health and safety. One reason that I believe bottled water is not suitable to give to everyone in the school, is because it causes a lot of environmental problems. According to The Story of Bottled Water by Annie Leonard, Each year, making the plastic waste bottles used in the U.S. takes enough oil and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... THose are just some of the health problems that pollution causes This information matters to me because it shows that bottled water not only affects the Earth by causing pollution, but that pollution also causes health problems. Not only does it affect the Earth by causing pollution, but bottled water can directly affect you. According to the online article Bottled Water vs. Tap Water: Rethink What You Drink by Priscilla Torres, The EPA regulates tap water, while the FDA oversees bottled. Yet FDA oversight doesn t apply to water packaged and sold within the same state, leaving some 60 to 70 percent of bottled water, including the contents of watercooler jugs, free of FDA regulation (Torres pg. 2 par.5). This matters to me because it means if every student in the Natomas district drank from bottled water, some of their water might contain chemicals because it wasn t checked. Chemicals are definitely a threat because Torres continues to say, Scientists in Germany found that the longer a bottle of water sits around (in a store, in your home), the more antimony it develops. High concentrations of antimony can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (Torres pg. 3 par. 7). This information is important because it shows that just keeping water bottles for a long period of time can cause many health problems. If every student had to drink bottled water, they would constantly be getting sick and spreading their sickness to other students. So, bottled water causes many health problems, through pollution, and because there may be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Analysis Of The Poem Of Modern Poetry By Wallace... Taking a broad view at one of Wallace Stevens s poems shows clues that Stevens believes in Heraclitus s theory. One poem in particular, Of Modern Poetry, is a good example of Wallace Stevens work because it is about the subject matter of poetry (Gallagher https://pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/login? url=http://search.proquest.com. pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/docview/216773018?accountid=13172). In the poem it is obvious that neither Wallace Stevens or his poems will tell you what they are about until they have been heavily studied, and this is a major component of the Heraclitus theory because it is not straight forward and requires that the reader think critically to uncover the answers (Gallagher https://pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://search.proquest.com. pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/docview/216773018?accountid=13172). The poem Of Modern Poetry also talks about in twenty eight lines, broken into three sections by indentation rather than by space breaks or numbers, he covers the state of poetry in the past; spends the larger portion of the poem on prescriptions for the present; and, in the last four lines, presents the only must that modern poetry must live up to (Gallagher https://pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/login? url=http://search.proquest.com.pfeiffer.idm.oclc.org/docview/216773018?accountid=13172). • 29. The Economics Of Happiness Is An Indicator Of Economic... For centuries, economists have deliberated on the most effective ways to promote growth, to increase employment, to boost consumption and to eliminate poverty, but where does this all lead? Surely these are all means to an end? Today, some economists may define the end as happiness. This essay will explore the potential benefits and drawbacks of using happiness as an indicator of economic success, analyze how it can be measured and examine the current theories on whether happiness can cause economic growth, or vice versa. Whilst economic growth first and foremost implies an increase in GDP per capita, increasing happiness can be attributed to many different determinants such as health, education, stability and inequality. Therefore, the economics of happiness is a multi layered and rather subjective area that divides economists when asked whether happiness can cause economic growth. To begin with, Stevenson and Wolfers (2008) propose that as countries grow richer, their citizens report higher levels of satisfaction. This is achieved not only through higher income per capita levels, but through the expected byproducts of an improving economy such as increases in levels of education, access to healthcare, opportunities for employment and equality. Non income determinants can be weighted against GDP levels to assess whether economic growth does impact happiness. For example, using the Corruptions Perceptions Index it was found that Sub Saharan Africa, one of the poorest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Obesity Is The Reason Our Youth Introduction Childhood obesity has been on a steady incline over the past 30 years and is considered a serious public health concern, especially in elementary school aged children. According to the US Surgeon General, nearly one in three children are overweight or obese (US Department of Human Health Services, 2014). The American Heart Association (2010) has age and sex specific growth charts that show the calculation of children s BMI using their height and weight. When children s weight is well above the average for their height and age they are classified as obese. Children BMI for age is in the 95th percentile or higher is considered to be obese. Obese children normally consume more energy in the form of food and drinks then they burn off with physical exercise (Kids Health, 2014). Our nation s obesity epidemic effects are immense: taxpayers, communities, and families spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year in medical costs and attempts to end childhood obesity (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2014). Obesity is the reason our youth is predicted to live shorter lives than our parents and we need to change this. Childhood obesity has long term harmful effects on a child s future health. Obese children are more likely to have high blood pressure and high cholesterol which put them more at risk for cardiovascular disease in the future (Center for Disease Control Prevention, 2014). Introduction Sheep are an important part of the global agricultural economy. Domestic sheep provide a wide array of raw materials. Wool is one of the first textiles although in the late 20th century wool prices began to fall as the result of the popularity and cheap prices for synthetic fabrics . Sheep meat and milk are the earliest staple proteins consumed by human civilization after the transition from hunting and gathering to agriculture. Byproducts from the slaughter of sheep are also of value; sheep tallow can be used in candle and soap making while, sheep bone and cartilage has been used to furnish carved items such as dice and buttons . Parasitic nematodes cause diseases of major economic importance in sheep .The lungworm , Dictyocaulus filaria , represents one of these nematodes inhabits bronchi and bronchioles and cause parasitic bronchitis (commonly known as husk) particularly in young sheep ( Holzhauer et al., 2011). • 34. Aloe Vera, And The Vitality Of Youth Essay Aloe Vera, also called simply Aloe, is a flowering, cactus like succulent plan that thrives in dry, hot climates, and is believed to be at least 6,000 years old. Kumari is the Ayurvedic name for aloe, and is translated as the vitality of youth (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 66). Native to Africa ( Aloe, 2016), it is grown in tropical and sub tropical areas ( Aloe UMMC, 2015). Different parts of the plant have different uses. The leaves, which are thick (cactus like) and fibrous, have three layers. The central pulp contains gel that is extracted for use both topical and internal use (Chopra Simon, 2000, p. 67). The fibrous part of the plant is used to make a laxative from the Aloe latex that is extracted. Some products are made using the whole crushed leaf, and contain the latex and gel ( Aloe WebMD, 2016). The gel made from Aloe Vera, either pure or as part of a mixture, is commonly used in moisturizing products for skin, is often included in sun block/sunscreen ( Aloe, 2016). It also has a wide variety of medicinal purposes, including burns, wounds, skin irritations, and constipation both historically and currently. Recently, it has not been recommended for use as a laxative. Today, Aloe is still one of the most common herbs used for a multitude of purposes ( Aloe UMMC, 2015, para. 1). It is also considered as a tonic for the liver (Lad, 2009, p. 130). The Aloe Vera plant is also known as the burn plant (Dossey Keegan, 2016, p. 374) and, as mentioned ...
