In Sign for My Father, Who Stressed the Bunt , the poem is displayed in first person and the speaker
talking about his experiences watching his son in the game of baseball and a story of his childhood
that he goes back to thinking about often. I believe the theme in this story that is portrayed is that as
you get older we see that swinging for the fence is not always going to make the difference in life to
set people apart, but that a bunt or so small can also impact someone s life, and possibly make a bigger

One of the best ways to fully understand an era is to study its literature. The printed word has the
incredible capacity to both reflect and shape the hopes, fears, and ideologies of the time. This is very
evident when reading literature from 1960 s America, a turbulent period in the history of our country.
While the authors styles are very different, there are definite thematic patterns and characteristics
evident in many of their works. For one, there is a prevalent concept of the unenlightened masses.

I have gathered a significant amount of evidence to pursue research on the purpose of still lifes. I think
this would be valuable to pursue, because to this day many people seem to undervalue the purpose of
still life art. At first glance, it may seem mundane, pointless, or meant solely to improve technical
