Marketing Strategy Of A Business At Home N America And The...
Many International firms competed to enter the vast China market for franchising and expanding their
products and services in a market which offers a wide scope of business opportunities mainly the size
of its population and the openness of China on the Western world after so many years of its
protectionist policies. In this respect, Levendary Café, a huge American leading Company operating in
fast food like other American companies such as McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken is trying its
chance to enter the China market but there are some discrepancy of views between the top
management of the Company at home n America and the appointed manager to run the Levendary
Café operations in China, Louis Chen and the new CEO Mia Foster. The new CEO faces many issues
to deal with, the design and look of the Levendary outlets which Chen has changed and even used
some plastic chairs in some outlets to the discontent and disapproval of the top management of the
parent Company in America
When leading companies are established as franchised investing companies in foreign countries as is
the case of Levendary Café , they care to see that their objectives, strategies and approaches to
business are implemented as per the requirements of the parent Company at home where it started
before going International. Therefore the appointed agent or representatives of the Company shall
abide by the requirements and objectives of the Company and shall refer to the parent Company in
America.

Ethical Theories Of Ethical Decision Making
This paper is about ethical decision making that involved a case study in a movie based on a true
story. It is about a child named Lorenzo Odone, his disease, adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) and how
both his parents relentlessly pursued to find treatment for him. Aside from Mr. and Mrs. Odones
decision making, the doctors and scientists involved in Lorenzo s treatment were just as affected.
These characters were faced with ethical issues that arose when deciding proper course in finding
treatment for Lorenzo s ALD. This paper will discuss the four ethical theories of decision making seen
in the movie and the effects it had not only on Lorenzo but everyone that was involved. Ethical

This theory is opposite of teleological. The decision making for this approach is dependent on the act
itself than the consequence of it. Edge Grove (2006) provided a great case study in their book as an
example of deontological. In the case study, they stated two good friends were working together and
one accidentally breaks an equipment. He asks for his friend to not mention it to anyone but when the
manager questions the incident the next day, the deontological decision would be to tell the truth since
lying about the incident is not a proper duty of an employee (p.

Municipal Act Case Study
Throughout the entire unit, it is evident change is needed. Government cannot to continue to operate
as it has historically. Municipalities exist because the Province allows them to, but together they must
collaborate to discover optimum methods for survival instead of the municipal blame game and rely
on provincial/federal levels to bail them out. Private partnership development exploration is vital for
fiscally responsible service delivery. It is imperative rural vs urban similarities and difficulties are
scrutinized as they are dependent upon each other for survival yet the struggle for the continued
economic sustainability of same proves strenuous.
Entities cannot be treated the same, it is not realistic. The Toronto Act was developed to specifically
address issues which appeared only pertinent to the GTA. The Municipal Act was developed to deal
with the rest of Ontario. There are other constituencies which would benefit from a Toronto Act for
their relevant needs. From Northern Ontario, to growing metropolitan cities to border cities, farming
and petrochemical industries the difficulties and diversity is tangible. Economic development and
downfalls shift greatly across different regions at various times and can affect each other immensely.
There must be practices developed so these shifts can be addressed and accommodated for. We can not
continue to operate unilaterally or in silos if Ontario is to prosper. It is a partnership. A cultural shift is
obligatory to move forward for success. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Arther Miller
Come along as an adventure through time takes launch. From the interim of Arthur Miller s birth and
death, he wrote some of America s greatest plays which are known all around the world. This world
renowned screenwriter and playwright is arguably considered the best playwright of the 20th century.
We start our journey here on October 17, 1915 in Harlem, New York where Miller was born. Arther
Miller was the son of Isidore and Augusta, a Polish and Jewish Immigrant family who owned a
flourishing manufacturing business. The miller family got hit hard during the Wall Street Crash of
1929 nearly losing everything. Arther Miller worked hard after he graduated high school, so he would
be able to pay for his collage tuition at the University of Michigan. It was at Michigan that he wrote
his first play, No Villain. This play won him the school s Avery Hopwood Award and sparked the
beginning of his successful career as a playwright. The beginning of Miller s playwright career came
out with a boom with, All My Sons, which debuted on Broadway in 1947. This play won Miller his
first of many Tony Awards. His next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This play did ensue some political trouble against when he was brought to appear before the House of
Un American Activities Committee for the play allegory with McCarthyism. McCarthyism is the act
of making false accusations without showing the proper evidence. Miller denied to follow any of the
committee s orders. Again in 1957, Brooks Atkinson wrote about millers stand: He refused to be an
informer. He refused to turn his private conscience over to administration by the state. He has
accordingly been found in contempt of Congress. That is the measure of the man who has written
these high minded plays. This ruling was capsized by Congress two years after the debate started in
1956, so the debate only lasting for an ephemeral amount of

Stroke And Infarction With Hormonal Contraception
Stroke and Infarction with Hormonal Contraception
During one year, one in 3,000 women who are taking oral contraceptives will develop a blood clot
(James, n.d.). These blood clots can lead to more dangerous events such as a thrombotic strokes or
myocardial infarctions. Through a nursing research article from The New England Journal of
Medicine, a study was conducted in Denmark to assess the risks of taking oral contraceptives and its
correlation with stroke and infarction. The article explains the purpose, the subjects of the study, how
the subjects were protected, findings, and implications that may be used for practice. The
pathophysiology of how oral contraceptives cause blood clots and how these blood clots cause strokes
and infarctions will also be discussed.
A thrombotic embolism appears to correspond with the estrogen dosage. Estrogen/progestogen oral
contraception affects blood clotting by increasing plasma fibrinogen and the activity of coagulation
factors, thus making the blood more prone to clotting. The inhibitor of coagulation is usually
decreased as well. Platelet activity is also enhanced with acceleration of aggregation (Bonnar, 1987).
These changes that occur in the blood while taking oral contraceptives create a state of
hypercoagulability. Hypercoagulable state means there is an abnormally increased shift toward blood
clotting. The hypercoagulability state of the blood causes the formation of blood clots that travel to the
brain or the heart

Piano Music Essay
The beautiful sound of piano music has captured the hearts of people since the early eighteenth
century. Since then, many musicians have dedicated their lives to this instrument. Some players even
play piano so well that it may seem that this instrument is easy to play. However, to be able to play the
piano well isn t easy; it takes a lot of skill. To become a good piano player, one must love music very
much, have good finger techniques, and body flexibility.
To become a good piano player, one must love music. The love of music can help you truly

In order to become a good pianist, one must have good finger techniques. With good finger
techniques, one will be able to play fast music. Because some music should be played quickly, this can
help you play through the music without getting stuck. Good finger techniques can also help you play
piano music very clearly so that the sound is clean and beautiful. In addition, with good finger
techniques, you can play piano for a long time without your finger getting sore. For a thirty minute
piece of piano music, one needs to have good finger techniques in order to play this piece well.
Having good finger techniques is an important skill to have as a pianist.
To be able to play piano well, one has to have body flexibility. Good body flexibility can help a piano
player to swing their body to the beat. For example, when a piece of music has complicated rhythm,
the player must swing his or her body to the bear in order to get the exact rhythm. Body flexibility can
also help one balance him/her self when he or she moves their body while playing music; thus
preventing the piano player from falling off his or her chair. Lastly, body flexibility can help you play
fast music. For instance, when you need to jump from the highest note of the piano to the lowest, this
can help a pianist to move quickly and with ease. A good piano player must have body flexibility.
Piano music can often touch the listener s heart if it is

The Life of Gregor Samsa in The Metamorphosis vs. Joseph Merrick, Elephant Man
One person who lived a life that greatly resembled Gregor is Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man.
Merrick was afflicted with a genetic disease, possibly Proteus syndrome (James 554), that deformed
him to the point that his skin resembled an elephant. There were bony growths on his face and body.
From difficulty moving around to challenges with communications, there are many similarities
between the two men. However, there are also major differences between them. One of the principal
differences is their ability to keep their humanity and enjoy their lives. Their afflictions came on them
at different times as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gregor s family found his attempts to talk annoying and irritating. An inability to communicate easily
is a huge blow for someone trying to retain some humanity.
One great difference between the two men is that Merrick was able to communicate if he had
something to write on, whereas Gregor was not able to communicate well at all. Merrick wrote letters
to people who he had met and notes to the doctors and staff at the hospital where he spent most of his
adult life (Treves 1). Gregor tried to communicate by pushing things around, like his food, and
separating the stuff he wanted from what he didn t, so his sister would know what to bring him. His
sister seemed to understand this system of communications as she adjusted his food accordingly, this
made it more difficult for him when she stopped picking up on his hints and did the minimum possible
to keep him alive. He also pushed things around his room and hid when people were coming in; this
showed that he understood that they didn t want to see him. Another major difference between the two
men was that Gregor always had a place to live. Merrick s father and step mother kicked him out of
the house when he was 15. After that, he lived with an uncle for a while, but when the uncle s family
got too large to support another person he went to a workhouse (Howell Ford 51). Gregor always had

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s Overture
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s overture to The Marriage of Figaro brings together all the components
and styles of the classical period. With it being an overture, it sets the mood and allows people to get
ready for the opera they are about to watch. Mozart was one of the greatest composers to ever resonate
from the classical period and his music is still studied and played worldwide today. Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 in Salzburg. (Kem) Recognized for his works at an extremely
young age, Mozart was playing the harpsicord by the age of four and had written his first opera by the
age of eight. (Wright) He was highly educated and exceedingly well known throughout Europe. The
early parts of his career were spent waiting at the beck and call of people in high political power until
1781. In 1781, Mozart moved to Vienna, Austria to become a freelance composer, teacher, and pianist.
(Kem) Most composers in the Classical era worked for the aristocracy. Mozart being a freelance
composer left him in serious finical trouble by the end of his career. (Kem) Although he lived a short
life, dying at the age of thirty five, but his time in this world was not wasted. During his lifespan, he
wrote over six hundred pieces of work ranging from operas, piano concertos, symphonies, and
serenades. (Kem) One of his opera buffas that stood out in his career was The Marriage of Figaro. The
French writer Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais wrote the play. Beaumarchais and Mozart

Diet Of A Man s Diet
When a couple is trying to conceive, there are obvious things that the woman can do to improve their
chances of conception and improve their chances of a healthy pregnancy. For example, women often
change their diets or begin taking folic acid. Yet most people do not think about how important the
potential dad s diet can be. A man s diet (the way that he eats and nutritional intake) can have a huge
influence on his sex drive (necessary for obvious reasons if you want to make a baby together), sperm
count, and sperm health. Although men do create sperm pretty much constantly, I was shocked when I
found out what a long process it is. It takes sperm approximately twelve to fourteen weeks to mature!
(1) That means that the health of a man is important for months before conception. Diet plays an
important role in creating adequate numbers of healthy sperm. So what should dads to be be eating?
The single most effective dietary way for a man to improve their fertility would probably be to eat
more zinc. Zinc plays a crucial role in sperm production, and semen is extraordinarily high in zinc. (2)
Sources of zinc include seafood especially oysters, red meat, pumpkin seeds, dairy products, and
brown rice. (3) In order to improve your body s absorption of zinc, eat it in conjunction with Vitamins
C and E. Most women take folic acid before conception (in planned pregnancies at any rate) and
during pregnancy to reduce the risk of spinal bifida and other birth defects (4).

Although I grew up in a military family, I never saw myself going into a military career. Up until I

Well, at the end of my eighth grade year I decided that I might as well join NJROTC, because all of

NJROTC was the smartest and most valuable decision I have made to this day. As a freshman, I was

Being a platoon commander, I had to make eighteen individuals have the mindset of a team, in order
to prepare them for Annual Military Inspection. This worked to the utmost degree, because we passed
our Annual Military Inspection and were recognized as an distinguished unit with academic honors,
and we were the Area Four Most Outstanding Unit. Knowing that I was apart of achieving this honor
is the most overwhelming feeling of accomplishment. This showed me that I was growing into
someone who could change a group of individuals into a team, and that was something I could have
never imagined before NJROTC. This skill would be put to it s ultimate test the coming summer,
when I was chosen to go back to Area Four Leadership Academy/Sail Training as a platoon aide for
Gold Platoon. At the end of those two weeks, I turned 38 cadets into one team, and that team was the
overall Honor Platoon, and won five out of the seven competitive events at LA/ST.

Urbanization And Urbanization
Urbanization has been a universal huge ordeal that has been going on everywhere for some time now,
and puts a huge strain on infrastructure, economics, and the order of a society making it hard to
maintain sustainability. Urban Sprawl is the uncontrolled expansion of urban areas, and has recently
become an important issue here in Kennesaw Georgia. Urban Sprawl also known as Urbanization has
caused problems here such as air pollution, due to the amount of traffic daily, construction due to the
rapid growth, economic slowdowns, car accidents, etc. It is rare to travel to a location 10 miles away
in less than 30 minutes due to the abundance of traffic on the interstates and on the roads. The lines of
automobiles at red lights are outrageous, and it s common to see stand still traffic at green lights
because of road blockages from cars not moving efficiently due to the timing of traffic lights. All these
events: Lights not working efficiently, traffic backed up, and construction, has led to an increase in car
accidents due to confusion, which has contributed to traffic as you guessed, but the problem is in
many situations the ones injured have to wait for extended periods of times due to traffic, killing the
efficiency of local emergency services. The infrastructure here is definitely not considered efficient for
the population. The population in Kennesaw has increased nearly 35% since the year 2000 which is a
huge spike according to (kennesaw ga.gov.) This spike is due to

Traders and The Silk Road
Throughout history roads and routes has been an important means of transportation to the world. In
today s society roads connect us to different cities, and used for shipping valuables. Human beings
constantly use these routes as a way to trade their product repeating what others have done throughout
history. The Silk Road was one of the main routes used for trading valuables and merchandise. The
road stretched from China and along the Mediterranean Sea being used by mankind for thousands of
years. This trade route revolutionized our understanding of the connections between different regions
of Asia. In return the valuables and goods enhance the importance of the Silk Road. Each type of
contact with every encounter has a connection from the various artworks. The Silk Road carried many
products; however, the most valuable product was Silk. Traders were confused about this mysterious
product because of the limited knowledge and the unknown producer. The culture behind this popular
product was the Chinese, who kept silk as a secret for thousands of years. According to legends Lady
Hsi Ling Shih, who was given the title of Silk Goddess, founded silk when a silkworm capsule fell
from a tree into her tea. This lead to the discovery of silk began and China gathering and producing

During the course of breast cancer treatments, most patients will undergo radiotherapy. Many women
who undergo radiation therapy may develop a skin reaction in the area receiving radiation. The
reaction is like sunburn, the skin turns pink or red and there also maybe peeling. The effect of
deodorant on breast cancer therapy has generated significant interest in Oncology and in the scientific
community. While the exact mechanism linking deodorant use to skin toxicity is yet to be determined
there are two hypothesis. One hypothesis involves deodorant acting to increase the concentration of

Purpose of the study was to determine the use of both aluminum containing and non aluminum
containing deodorant on axillary skin toxicity during external beam radiotherapy. It has been
suggested that increased radiation toxicity include the deposition of aluminum salts that might affect
surface radiation dose, a bolus effect from the aluminum on the skin and chemical irritation. In the
past women have been advised not to wear deodorant, it has been the standard of practice during the
post operative radiation therapy, however many women feel uncomfortable with this. The study used
objective measurements of skin reactions, symptom reports, sweating and a validated quality of life
questionnaire. The ipsilateral axilla of the breast or chest wall being treated was assessed every week
by using the Radiation Therapy Oncology group (RTOG) acute skin toxicity scale. Quality of life was
evaluated during the first and the last week of treatment. One month after their final radiation therapy
treatment, phone call was made to patients at home and asked to complete the questionnaire. The
result is that the study found no evidence that the use of either aluminum containing or non aluminum
containing deodorant effected axillary skin reaction.

Analysis Of Robert Lipsyte s Jock Culture
What s the worst that can happen? I think as I push myself into a 10 foot deep pool without any
certainty that I would float. This is the manner in which I do things: opening my mouth with no idea
of what would happen next, and as one can imagine, this requires a step out of the comfort zone. I tell
myself that though I am not the most confident in my abilities, I at least have the courage to begin
somewhere. This keeps me motivated to continue putting myself into deep holes and finding my way

Ten Reasons to Outsource Digital Marketing to a Third Party
10 reasons to outsource your digital marketing to a third party
The decision to outsource a marketing function such as digital marketing can be both strategic and
tactical. In general, many companies, as a principle, outsource any activity that is not core to their
business. At the tactical level, companies often find themselves short of digital marketing resources to
respond to a rapid pace at which it operates across different platforms.
What s right for your company? Following are general guidelines to help you determine whether to
deploy a third party to manage a complete digital marketing function or specific project, or to keep it
in house.
FACTOR #1: YOU LACK A SPECIFIC EXPERTISE OR HUMAN RESOURCES
Effective digital marketing departments require a wide range of expertise. A typical group may include
media strategists, media analysts, auditors, creatives, brand managers, advertising specialists,

Let s face it: in general, most companies do not have enough people allocated to digital marketing
department. So specialised outside help is often required.
FACTOR #2: YOU LACK A SPECIFIC TECHNOLOGY
Companies are notoriously technology deprived on the digital marketing side of things. While this
situation is being somewhat remedied by the increasing use and availability of automation tools, the
digital marketing department is, many times, at the bottom of the IT department s priority list.

Rio Grande Valley Essay
Obama s second term was ending and there was a new president was chosen on January 20,2017 and
this was one of the worst days for the Latinos in RGV aka Rio Grande Valley. This day was when
President Donald J. Trump got in office at the white house every Mexican in the Valley was so
worried about this day because while he was doing his run for president, he said things that offended a
lot of Mexicans and those things he said was Mexicans are Rapists, Criminals and Killers also Trump
said: All Mexicans that are immigrants will go back to Mexico and I will build a wall so immigrants
will not cross over . While the things he said in the speeches during his run for presidency caused a

Now even with all these social medias talking about Trump, the news has reported it and talked about
what will the president do when one third of the country population.
Another thing that Trump has done to affect us that live in the valley or in Texas, Donald Trump said
that he would renegotiate or break the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). We will
either renegotiate it or we will break it, Trump said during an interview on 60 Minutes, following a
question about how to keep American jobs from moving to Mexico. Because, you know, every
agreement has an end. NAFTA, which has been in effect since the mid 1990s, allows free trade
between the United States, Canada and Mexico. We need fair trade. Not free trade, he said. It s got to
be fair. Trump is not the only GOP candidate to suggest that the U.S. can and should break its
international agreements in some circumstances. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas Gov. Mike
Huckabee and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina all have said they would renege on the Iran
nuclear deal the Obama Administration struck earlier this year. This has a major effect on us because if
the NAFTA brakes the agreement that has been since the 1990 s it would stop everyone that comes to
here for a better job and just stay in Mexico with that the population would decrease and much more
will happen.
NAFTA impacted U.S. workers in four focal ways. In the first place, it caused the loss of about

The values of Kp are 0.2576, 0.7727 and 10.3 for T1(s), T2(s) and T3(s) respectively.
1.3. Solution Description
In order to complete the experiment the values for Kp were needed as shown at the end of the previous
section. The method of simplify the block diagram in section 1.2 to the final transfer function equation
is shown below:
Ts= KpKmKθτS+1s+KpKmKθ
Then by substituting in values for Km, Kθ and τ, gives:
Ts= 15.53Kp0.1s2+s+15.53Kp
Ts= 155.3Kps2+10s+155.3Kp eq. 1.3.1.
That then is the final version of the simplified equation to get the values for Kp needed in the ESVL
section of the experiment.
In order to calculate the response characteristics the equations listed in the introductions were utilized
and programmed into the MATLAB program in order to speed up the calculation progress for each of
the experiments.
The MATLAB code generated was quite basic, the program aimed to easily calculate the required

The Problem Of Arson Investigation
Arson investigation began sometime in the mid 1970 s, and has been a process changed and evolved
ever since. The act of arson consists of purposely setting or starting a fire on someone s property, and
can be for a number of reasons anywhere from vandalism, excitement or serial arson, to revenge,
extremism or crime concealment (Newton, M., 15). Some previously proven indicators pointing as to
whether or not a fire is an act of arson has been questioned, further researched and tested. Many of
these theories have stated that certain markings, post fire, could only appear due an accelerant being
used to help engage the fire or intensify it, though recently many of these theories have been
debunked. The truth behind some of these markings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most misleading processes that can lead to a wrongful conviction is a term called flashover.
Flashover is what seemingly happens when an entire room is engulfed in fire, and flames protrude
from openings within the building. The process occurs in an enclosed space when particles and
combustible gases begin to cluster close to the ceiling, and then slowly fall towards the floor. At this
point, it is likely that an accumulation of air would rush into the room through windows, doors or
other cavities, and ignite the muddle of particles and gases (Starr, 2011). As this process was not
realized until later when arson investigation became more developed, many explanations as to whether
an accelerant was used to start a fire have been recently proven to be more than likely due to the
effects of a flashover. Some of these beliefs were that melted metals, especially those in or near
doorways, burn marks under pieces of furniture, or on the floor were a sure sign that a liquid
accelerant was used to start the fire. Detectives believed melted metals were a sign of a liquid
accelerant because they thought that temperatures high enough to melt these types of metals were
unattainable without an accelerant. In reality, wood fires commonly reach and exceed the melting
point of metals, especially once they hit

Impact Of The French And Indian War On The British Government
IV.The Impact on the British
The impact of the French and Indian War on the British government was a positive move toward the
dominance of Europe after the defeat of the French in terms of the colonization of North America.
During this time, the British had incurred a massive military debt, which had to be paid over the long
term. To ensure that the British government did not take full responsibility for the debt, the British
colonists were expected to pay back the debt burden through extremely high taxes. This policy was a
major impact on the British because it defined a new era of colonial exploitation that was to be used
against the colonists. During this time, the British government harbored resentment over the
uncooperative attitude of some colonists that supported the French and refused to pay taxes to relieve
the war debt:
From Britain s perspective, the colonists were ungrateful louts. They showed their ingratitude for
British intervention by selling the French forces ammunition and other provisions for their battles
against the British. After the war, the colonists showed their ingratitude by refusing to pay any taxes
levied by a frustrated British Parliament to recoup the costs of expanding the empire (Makin and
Ornstein 54).
In this manner, the British government had to repay massive war debts, but through exploitative and
resentful policies that forced the colonist to pay extremely high taxes in the colonial economy.
England had won the French and Indian war,

Global Warming And The Greenhouse Effect
Global warming is the increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth due to the effect of the
buildup of greenhouse gases, due to deforestation and burning fossil fuels which causes the heat to be
trapped that would otherwise escape from the earth. To understand global warming, you need to
understand the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for life on earth to exist
as it allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if we consider for moment
a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays of the sun enter the car through the
windows and some of the heat is absorbed by items inside the car (seats, dashboard etc). These objects
will in turn begin to release heat and some of this heat escapes back through the windows but some of
the heat is reflected back into the car. The result is that more heat enters the car than is able to escape
it and the interior of the car warms up. So if you think of the earth s atmosphere as the car s interior.
The landscape and structures on earth can be seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars
windows is played by certain things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methane
gas and water vapour which absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as
greenhouse gasses.
When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be retained leading
to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I

Compare And Contrast Machiavelli And Tupac
Da Monie McRae
November 9, 2016
HONR 2111
Dr. S. Hankerson
Tupac (Makaveli) vs. Niccolo Machiavelli Humanism is an outlook or system of thought attaching
prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the
potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely
rational ways of solving human problems. Niccolo Machiavelli was a 16th century political
philosopher, poet, playwright and historian during the renaissance period. He wrote The Prince which
was a political book about monarchal and survival. One of the purposes of the book was to give advice
to new tyrants and others who wanted to gain and maintain power. One of the things that he discusses
is skill and luck or virtú. He mentions in chapter six that a prudent man will always try to follow in the
footsteps of great men and imitate those who have been truly outstanding, so that if he is not skillful as
they, at least some of their ability may rub off on him . I can only imagine Tupac reading those words
and thinking that while he is a skilled rapper, he wants to be able to maintain power and get better.
Tupac Shakur has always been regarded as an urban prophet. The Cali rapper was known for his

Semiotic Analysis In Advertising
Through semiotic analysis, signifiers, myths and paradigmatic analysis an interpretation of a car
insurance ad by the VHV holding company can be made on many levels. VHV Holding, a German car
insurance company, uses sexist ideologies to sell the idea that you need insurance in case you get into
an accident while distracted by establishing women as sexualized objects and men as beings who are
reckless drivers because of constant sexual thoughts.
Looking at this print advertisement denotatively the viewer sees two nude women sitting in a bathtub
filled with bubbles; one woman is seemingly scrubbing the other with a brain like one would normally
do with a sponge. The caption in the corner is surrounded by an octagon and reads A man s mind isn t
always on the road . The areas surrounding the two women is mostly tinted blue and white. The
woman who is being cleaned with the brain is looking downwards to the left while the woman holding
the brain is looking directly at the viewer/camera in what many would consider a sexual way. In the
background in the upper left corner candles are lit and sitting atop of a small table.
According to Sturken the practice of looking is tied to ideology, images are elements of contemporary
advertising and consumer culture through which assumptions about beauty, desire, glamour, and social
value are both constructed and responded to (21). In this ad we see that an assumption about desire
and social value are constructed. When looking at this

The Main Cause Of Gun Violence In The United States
Gun Violence
Gun violence is a very serious and complex issue. This issue has been taking place for many years all
over the United States. Gun violence has no real prevention and no simple way of being stopped.
Every single day more than one person s life is taken by a gun. Some of these deaths are caused by
senseless acts of violence while others occur by accident. Gun violence is one of the main causes of
death in America, some say guns are used for protection but others use guns for their own negative
agenda.
In America there is over 300 million guns throughout the country. Many of the people who own one of
those guns do not have a license. In another perspective guns are used for jobs therefore they are

The age of technology has changed communication in both our personal and professional lives with

to heaven. I finished my cup of water last, savoring the cool wet liquid in my mouth, and then
swallowing slowly. I throughout my cup then went back to the starting point for the second half of
field day. This was like the first half, only after a water break. As soon as we were told to start, I
sprinted off and was running faster than I did before a lot faster. I felt alive and I had felt alive for
three more laps until, I finally started to slow down. It was my fourteenth lap when I decided to talk to
Lea again, we had been running, then jogging and running and jogging, but in that time we hadn t said

I Choose Maus by Art Spiegleman
I chose Maus by Art Spiegleman. To be honest, I learned about the book from a television show,
Comic Book Men. They were talking about a graphic novel that won the Pulitzer. That peaked my
interest, so I decided to research the topic of the book. When I discovered that it was an autobiography
about a complex relationship between a father and son, I firmly wanted to read it. The son learning of
his father s story of the holocaust was his way of to understand himself and his heritage and the
journey is fascinating. When this assignment for generalist practice two came up, I jumped at the
opportunity.
Maus is a graphic novel. A graphic novel is predominantly told with pictures over words. This novel in
particular relies on a strong and realistic artwork to tell its story along with the imagery of mice. The
novel was released in two parts, the book format is the two parts put together. It is divided into five
chapters, and has 296 pages. The first part was published in 1973 and was completed with the second
portion in 1991 to create the final complete book. This was clearly a labor of love and a tribute to his
father.
There are a multitude of issues in Maus. Loss of loved ones, couple s troubles, competition of dead
loved ones, are just to name a few. This treatment will be focused on repairing the father and son
relationship. Strained since childhood, their relationship has gotten progressively worse since the
death of Art s mother. Art struggles to understand his father on

Faulkner thinks the public s point of view gives the story a weird feeling. It appears as if there is

seem to have a lot of information about her life. When she was first seen with Homer Barron, it was
obvious that they would get married. Then, it was finally known that Homer Barron liked men and he

T.S.Eliot Murder in the Cathedral
T.S. Eliot s Murder in the Cathedral tells the story of Thomas Beckett, a man who reigned as
Archbishop of Canterbury during the 12th century in England until his death in 1170. In order to tell
Beckett s story, Eliot creates a series of equally interesting characters that each play a crucial role
thought the play. The most unique rolefound within the play is the Women ofCanterbury, or the
Chorus. Throughout the piece, the Chorus delivers seven choral odes. These choral odes, when looked
at as a collective work tell a story. They begin with brief foreshadowing of events that will occur later
in the play, but then quickly jump into necessary storyline; one which summarizes the events of the

Later in the choral ode, the women say, We are afraid in a fear which we cannot know, which we
cannot face, which none understands. This illustrates thedepth and complexity of the fear which they
are facing, for they know not how to neither combat it nor completely comprehend it. All the people
know is that with Thomas comes death upon their home of Canterbury, so the beg him to leave us,
leave us, leave us sullen Dover, andset sail for France.
The fear of the second choral ode becomes a reality in the third. The Women of Canterbury know what
decision Beckett has made. They tell him, We have not been happy, my Lord, we have not been too
happy. We are not ignorant women, we know what we must expect and not expect. By saying this, the
Women of Canterbury mean that they understandthe consequences that Thomas has chosen by staying
in Canterbury. They know that he will perish if he stays. Then the women begin to despair. They cry,
God gave us always some reason, some hope; but now a new terror has soiled us, which none can
avert, and, God is leaving us, God is leaving us, more pang, more pain than birth or death. The Women
of Canterbury, who always took faith in the idea the God was protecting their Archbishop, believe that
Thomas has turned away from the Lord s protection by deciding to remain at Canterbury, for not even
God could protect him from the wrath of what was yet to come.

The Suicide Car And Truck Bombings
I chose the August 1998 simultaneous suicide car and truck bombings of the U.S. embassies in
Nairobi and Tanzania because I believe that not only were the attacks a precursor of how future
terrorist attacks were to be planned and executed, but it was also the first successful terrorist strike by
the al Qaeda network. The first bombing occurred at the American Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya on
August 7, 1998. The attack killed 213, injuring thousands over 150 people blinded by flying glass.
Approximately nine minutes later, the American Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania was also
bombed, killing 11 and wounding 85 (Wright, 2006). Both bombings were the result of planned
attacks by al Qaeda and with the approval of Osama Bin Laden.
On a personal level, I had only been with the FBI a little less than a year, and the bombings were my
first experience in an international terrorism matter. It was also served as a harbinger of the new
direction the FBI would be taking. One of by squad mates, Bill, who was formerly a Marine Corp
officer, had previously worked at one of the embassies. He was immediately deployed to the region in
a supporting investigative role. The needs of the Bureau far outweighed his obligation to our drug

The Creation Of A Hip Hop Music Genre
Hip Hop
The music that truly inspires who I am today would have to be hip hop. The genre itself has been

variations each rapper, emcee, etc. to bring to the genre makes it so much larger than people may think
about it. Last, but not least hip hop has a lot of culture and its only been around since 1979.
First, of all the genre hip hop is truly diverse open to any and of all ethnicities to join the genre.
Another reason, is that hip hop has very nice production from the G funk era, to the trap era that is of

Anti Federalists Vs. Federalists
Anti Federalists vs. Federalists (Paper #1)
The Federalists and the Anti Federalists played an indispensable part in the establishment of the
American Constitution. Federalists were supporters of the constitution, while Anti federalist were
against the ratification of the Constitution. Federalists believed in the idea of a larger heterogeneous
republic whereas anti federalists wanted a small homogenous republic. Famous federalists like James
Madison, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton are responsible for giving us paramount pieces of historic
documents in the form of the Federalist papers . The Federalist papers were 85 documents urging the
ratification of the US Constitution. Anti federalist side included people like Samuel Adams, George
Mason and Patrick Henry, and they believed the Articles of Confederation should be altered rather
than completely changed in the form of the Constitution. Concurring with the Federalist side, it is
imperative to see that the Federalists argument was more viable, due to the fact that larger republics
and checks and balances are useful tools in controlling a democracy. We can t compare ourselves to
the way Sparta and Athens operated. Our country would thrive more under a stronger national
government rather than a stronger state government. The anti federalists were against the proposed
Constitution and wanted the power to be invested in local and state levels. They believed that the
national government would be too far from the

Mary Shelly and the Romantic Era
The story written by Mary Shelly reflects the mood of the Romantic era in numerous ways. Some of
these themes include views on science, changes in the weather across Europe, mistrust of
advancements in science and the role of disease and death and the loneliness that resulted. The
experiences of Shelly and even the setting and location where she formed the idea for Frankenstein
display interesting themes of the time period. Disease and death were a common theme throughout the
Romantic era. Not only did it affect Shelly s life directly, the topic of personal loss was evident
throughout her novel. The murders of Victor s family and friends by the monster displayed this theme
but it was also on display early in the book with Victor s mother catching the Scarlet Fever and dying
after attending to Elizabeth during a bout of the same. Disease, tragedy and death seemed to be a sad
but very common part of life during this time period. Interestingly, changes in the climate and weather
of Europe were a key factor in the idea of Frankenstein coming about. Due to this inclement weather,
a period of time was spent indoors by Mary, her husband and some of her friends. After discussions
about ghost stories, gothic writings and reanimated corpses, Mary s imagination rose to the occasion
and after a nightmare one night Frankenstein was born. As a side note, I also found the mood the
Frankenstein book felt cold and gloomy throughout. Although the scenery

That gave Sony an insurmountable lead.
But this time, the critical hardware was completed as planned. IBM completed its chip design by Dec,
2004. ATI finished its graphics chip in November.
An overview of the then x box Supply Chain and modified x box 360 Supply chain is graphically
depicted below:
New business process and business integration solution
For the Microsoft team brining the revolutionary Xbox 360 to the marketplace, the new supply chain
process shaved one full day off the time needed to identify and correct errors in the supply and
manufacturing chain. That s an especially big gain in the case of the Xbox, for which the entire
manufacturing process is outsourced.
A one day increase in responsiveness is huge in outsourced manufacturing , says Robert Meshew, IT
Systems group program manager in the Microsoft Home and Entertainment division. It means you
have the time to respond to problems, potentially saving thousands of dollars in unnecessary air
freight and expediting costs .
The new business process and integration tool also offered real time visibility into its extensive
manufacturing process, including tracking inventory, handling billing and monitoring vendor
performance for on time delivery and other measures. The system was fast, reduced errors and
improved efficiency.
Visibility into production of Graphics processing unit enabled Microsoft to react instantly to the
console manufacturers needs. The partner interface process

Artists that Influenced The Beatles Essay
In the eyes of many, The Beatles are one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. They have
influenced me in my everyday life and so many great musicians in the past 50 years. This fact alone,
makes it hard to imagine that they were once influenced by someone else. While doing some research,
I found various artists that influenced them through the beginning of their careers until the very end.
In the following paragraphs, I will be sharing with you a few of the artists I thought to be the most
influential to The Beatles extremely successful career and why I thought them to be so influential. In
their youth, The Beatles were avid followers of early forms of Rock and Roll. Skiffle was a popular
form of music in post war Britain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John was fascinated not only with Presley s voice, but also by the jagged guitar work that propelled
Heartbreak Hotel (Hall 1). The Beatles admired him not only for his music, but for his style. They
quickly slicked their hair back, got sideburns, tight jeans called drainpipes , and crepe soled shoes, all
in true Elvis style. John was so inspired by Elvis, that it drove him to create his first skiffle group
called The Quarrymen. Another early influence of The Beatles, was one of the most influential guitar
players of early rock and roll, Chuck Berry. Berry was known for cultivation and development of
rhythm and blues music. He is known as one of rock and roll s pioneers. Not only was Berry s style
heard a lot in early Beatles albums, his songs Roll Over Beethoven and Rock and Roll Music were
later covered by The Beatles. In 1963, The Beatles reached their first number one hit. Though Please
Please Me has more of a high energy fast tempo, the song was inspired by Roy Orbison s 1960 hit
Only the Lonely . It was John Lennon s attempt at writing a Roy Orbison song. The Beatles were fond
of Roy Orbison s song writing and distinct singing approach. Roy Orbison had one of the most
distinctive and expressive voices, with a three to four octave range to match, in rock and pop music
(Tranquillo 24). Another influence found in the chart topper was The Everly Brothers. The opening
verse of Please

Many International firms competed to enter the vast China market for franchising and expanding their products and services in a market which offers a wide scope of business opportunities mainly the size of its population and the openness of China on the Western world after so many years of its protectionist policies. In this respect, Levendary Café, a huge American leading Company operating in fast food like other American companies such as McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken is trying its chance to enter the China market but there are some discrepancy of views between the top management of the Company at home n America and the appointed manager to run the Levendary Café operations in China, Louis Chen and the new CEO Mia Foster. The new CEO faces many issues to deal with, the design and look of the Levendary outlets which Chen has changed and even used some plastic chairs in some outlets to the discontent and disapproval of the top management of the parent Company in America When leading companies are established as franchised investing companies in foreign countries as is the case of Levendary Café , they care to see that their objectives, strategies and approaches to business are implemented as per the requirements of the parent Company at home where it started before going International. Municipalities exist because the Province allows them to, but together they must collaborate to discover optimum methods for survival instead of the municipal blame game and rely on provincial/federal levels to bail them out. Private partnership development exploration is vital for fiscally responsible service delivery. It is imperative rural vs urban similarities and difficulties are scrutinized as they are dependent upon each other for survival yet the struggle for the continued economic sustainability of same proves strenuous. Entities cannot be treated the same, it is not realistic. The Toronto Act was developed to specifically address issues which appeared only pertinent to the GTA. The Municipal Act was developed to deal with the rest of Ontario. There are other constituencies which would benefit from a Toronto Act for their relevant needs. From Northern Ontario, to growing metropolitan cities to border cities, farming and petrochemical industries the difficulties and diversity is tangible. Economic development and downfalls shift greatly across different regions at various times and can affect each other immensely. There must be practices developed so these shifts can be addressed and accommodated for. We can not continue to operate unilaterally or in silos if Ontario is to prosper. It is a partnership. Stroke And Infarction With Hormonal Contraception Stroke and Infarction with Hormonal Contraception During one year, one in 3,000 women who are taking oral contraceptives will develop a blood clot (James, n.d.). These blood clots can lead to more dangerous events such as a thrombotic strokes or myocardial infarctions. Through a nursing research article from The New England Journal of Medicine, a study was conducted in Denmark to assess the risks of taking oral contraceptives and its correlation with stroke and infarction. The article explains the purpose, the subjects of the study, how the subjects were protected, findings, and implications that may be used for practice. The pathophysiology of how oral contraceptives cause blood clots and how these blood clots cause strokes and infarctions will also be discussed. A thrombotic embolism appears to correspond with the estrogen dosage. Estrogen/progestogen oral contraception affects blood clotting by increasing plasma fibrinogen and the activity of coagulation factors, thus making the blood more prone to clotting. The inhibitor of coagulation is usually decreased as well. Platelet activity is also enhanced with acceleration of aggregation (Bonnar, 1987). These changes that occur in the blood while taking oral contraceptives create a state of hypercoagulability. Hypercoagulable state means there is an abnormally increased shift toward blood clotting. The hypercoagulability state of the blood causes the formation of blood clots that travel to the brain or the heart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Merrick was afflicted with a genetic disease, possibly Proteus syndrome (James 554), that deformed him to the point that his skin resembled an elephant. There were bony growths on his face and body. From difficulty moving around to challenges with communications, there are many similarities between the two men. However, there are also major differences between them. Gregor s family found his attempts to talk annoying and irritating. An inability to communicate easily is a huge blow for someone trying to retain some humanity. One great difference between the two men is that Merrick was able to communicate if he had something to write on, whereas Gregor was not able to communicate well at all. Merrick wrote letters to people who he had met and notes to the doctors and staff at the hospital where he spent most of his adult life (Treves 1). Gregor tried to communicate by pushing things around, like his food, and separating the stuff he wanted from what he didn t, so his sister would know what to bring him. His sister seemed to understand this system of communications as she adjusted his food accordingly, this made it more difficult for him when she stopped picking up on his hints and did the minimum possible to keep him alive. He also pushed things around his room and hid when people were coming in; this showed that he understood that they didn t want to see him. Another major difference between the two men was that Gregor always had a place to live. Merrick s father and step mother kicked him out of the house when he was 15. After that, he lived with an uncle for a while, but when the uncle s family got too large to support another person he went to a workhouse (Howell Ford 51). • 12. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s Overture Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s overture to The Marriage of Figaro brings together all the components and styles of the classical period. With it being an overture, it sets the mood and allows people to get ready for the opera they are about to watch. Mozart was one of the greatest composers to ever resonate from the classical period and his music is still studied and played worldwide today. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 in Salzburg. (Kem) Recognized for his works at an extremely young age, Mozart was playing the harpsicord by the age of four and had written his first opera by the age of eight. (Wright) He was highly educated and exceedingly well known throughout Europe. The early parts of his career were spent waiting at the beck and call of people in high political power until 1781. In 1781, Mozart moved to Vienna, Austria to become a freelance composer, teacher, and pianist. (Kem) Most composers in the Classical era worked for the aristocracy. Mozart being a freelance composer left him in serious finical trouble by the end of his career. (Kem) Although he lived a short life, dying at the age of thirty five, but his time in this world was not wasted. During his lifespan, he wrote over six hundred pieces of work ranging from operas, piano concertos, symphonies, and serenades. • 13. Diet Of A Man s Diet When a couple is trying to conceive, there are obvious things that the woman can do to improve their chances of conception and improve their chances of a healthy pregnancy. For example, women often change their diets or begin taking folic acid. Yet most people do not think about how important the potential dad s diet can be. A man s diet (the way that he eats and nutritional intake) can have a huge influence on his sex drive (necessary for obvious reasons if you want to make a baby together), sperm count, and sperm health. Although men do create sperm pretty much constantly, I was shocked when I found out what a long process it is. It takes sperm approximately twelve to fourteen weeks to mature! (1) That means that the health of a man is important for months before conception. Diet plays an important role in creating adequate numbers of healthy sperm. So what should dads to be be eating? The single most effective dietary way for a man to improve their fertility would probably be to eat more zinc. Zinc plays a crucial role in sperm production, and semen is extraordinarily high in zinc. (2) Sources of zinc include seafood especially oysters, red meat, pumpkin seeds, dairy products, and brown rice. (3) In order to improve your body s absorption of zinc, eat it in conjunction with Vitamins C and E. Most women take folic acid before conception (in planned pregnancies at any rate) and during pregnancy to reduce the risk of spinal bifida and other birth defects (4). ... Up until I was about fourteen years old, I planned on being a marine biologist in Hawaii. Sounds nice, right? Well, at the end of my eighth grade year I decided that I might as well join NJROTC, because all of my friends were doing it and it seemed okay. I have to say, looking back, I was quite naive. Joining NJROTC was the smartest and most valuable decision I have made to this day. As a freshman, I was timid and had little to no confidence. Urbanization And Urbanization Urbanization has been a universal huge ordeal that has been going on everywhere for some time now, and puts a huge strain on infrastructure, economics, and the order of a society making it hard to maintain sustainability. Urban Sprawl is the uncontrolled expansion of urban areas, and has recently become an important issue here in Kennesaw Georgia. Urban Sprawl also known as Urbanization has caused problems here such as air pollution, due to the amount of traffic daily, construction due to the rapid growth, economic slowdowns, car accidents, etc. It is rare to travel to a location 10 miles away in less than 30 minutes due to the abundance of traffic on the interstates and on the roads. The lines of automobiles at red lights are outrageous, and it s common to see stand still traffic at green lights because of road blockages from cars not moving efficiently due to the timing of traffic lights. All these events: Lights not working efficiently, traffic backed up, and construction, has led to an increase in car accidents due to confusion, which has contributed to traffic as you guessed, but the problem is in many situations the ones injured have to wait for extended periods of times due to traffic, killing the efficiency of local emergency services. The effect of deodorant on breast cancer therapy has generated significant interest in Oncology and in the scientific community. While the exact mechanism linking deodorant use to skin toxicity is yet to be determined there are two hypothesis. At the tactical level, companies often find themselves short of digital marketing resources to respond to a rapid pace at which it operates across different platforms. What s right for your company? Following are general guidelines to help you determine whether to deploy a third party to manage a complete digital marketing function or specific project, or to keep it in house. The act of arson consists of purposely setting or starting a fire on someone s property, and can be for a number of reasons anywhere from vandalism, excitement or serial arson, to revenge, extremism or crime concealment (Newton, M., 15). Some previously proven indicators pointing as to whether or not a fire is an act of arson has been questioned, further researched and tested. The truth behind some of these markings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most misleading processes that can lead to a wrongful conviction is a term called flashover. Flashover is what seemingly happens when an entire room is engulfed in fire, and flames protrude from openings within the building. The process occurs in an enclosed space when particles and combustible gases begin to cluster close to the ceiling, and then slowly fall towards the floor. At this point, it is likely that an accumulation of air would rush into the room through windows, doors or other cavities, and ignite the muddle of particles and gases (Starr, 2011). As this process was not realized until later when arson investigation became more developed, many explanations as to whether an accelerant was used to start a fire have been recently proven to be more than likely due to the effects of a flashover. Some of these beliefs were that melted metals, especially those in or near doorways, burn marks under pieces of furniture, or on the floor were a sure sign that a liquid accelerant was used to start the fire. Impact Of The French And Indian War On The British Government IV.The Impact on the British The impact of the French and Indian War on the British government was a positive move toward the dominance of Europe after the defeat of the French in terms of the colonization of North America. During this time, the British had incurred a massive military debt, which had to be paid over the long term. To ensure that the British government did not take full responsibility for the debt, the British colonists were expected to pay back the debt burden through extremely high taxes. This policy was a major impact on the British because it defined a new era of colonial exploitation that was to be used against the colonists. During this time, the British government harbored resentment over the uncooperative attitude of some colonists that supported the French and refused to pay taxes to relieve the war debt: From Britain s perspective, the colonists were ungrateful louts. They showed their ingratitude for British intervention by selling the French forces ammunition and other provisions for their battles against the British. After the war, the colonists showed their ingratitude by refusing to pay any taxes levied by a frustrated British Parliament to recoup the costs of expanding the empire (Makin and Ornstein 54). • 26. Global Warming And The Greenhouse Effect Global warming is the increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth due to the effect of the buildup of greenhouse gases, due to deforestation and burning fossil fuels which causes the heat to be trapped that would otherwise escape from the earth. To understand global warming, you need to understand the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for life on earth to exist as it allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if we consider for moment a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays of the sun enter the car through the windows and some of the heat is absorbed by items inside the car (seats, dashboard etc). These objects will in turn begin to release heat and some of this heat escapes back through the windows but some of the heat is reflected back into the car. The result is that more heat enters the car than is able to escape it and the interior of the car warms up. So if you think of the earth s atmosphere as the car s interior. The landscape and structures on earth can be seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars windows is played by certain things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methane gas and water vapour which absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as greenhouse gasses. When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be retained leading to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I ... Further, the AMR supervisor s refusal to allow Souza her rights under the collective bargaining agreement, to allow opportunity to meet with her local union representative and that they be present to help with her incident report which is found to be unfair labor practice under the Act, (NLRA) was not in good ... I heard, and started to run. Even though it wasn t a race, I was young, and wanted to zoom around the track like 6th graders could. Lea came up beside me and she was already sweating like crazy. I love field day, only I don t like the hotness I said, panting. You mean the heat, right? She corrected me, as she always did. She helped me back up once again, and if as magic she didn t fall. We continued running until our tenth lap when Mrs. Cailler had shouted for a water break. As the first bit of water trickled my dry throat, I felt as if an angel had come down and taken me to heaven. I finished my cup of water last, savoring the cool wet liquid in my mouth, and then swallowing slowly. I throughout my cup then went back to the starting point for the second half of field day. This was like the first half, only after a water break. As soon as we were told to start, I sprinted off and was running faster than I did before a lot faster. They were talking about a graphic novel that won the Pulitzer. That peaked my interest, so I decided to research the topic of the book. When I discovered that it was an autobiography about a complex relationship between a father and son, I firmly wanted to read it. The son learning of his father s story of the holocaust was his way of to understand himself and his heritage and the journey is fascinating. When this assignment for generalist practice two came up, I jumped at the opportunity. Maus is a graphic novel. A graphic novel is predominantly told with pictures over words. This novel in particular relies on a strong and realistic artwork to tell its story along with the imagery of mice. The novel was released in two parts, the book format is the two parts put together. It is divided into five chapters, and has 296 pages. The first part was published in 1973 and was completed with the second portion in 1991 to create the final complete book. This was clearly a labor of love and a tribute to his father. There are a multitude of issues in Maus. Loss of loved ones, couple s troubles, competition of dead loved ones, are just to name a few. This treatment will be focused on repairing the father and son relationship. Strained since childhood, their relationship has gotten progressively worse since the death of Art s mother. What Is Stolen Valor Stolen valor can be many things, a civilian putting on a military uniform claiming to have served, an individual who failed to complete boot camp calling themselves a veteran, even an active duty service member fraudulently claiming to have earned medals, awards, or insignia. When you hear news reports of stolen valor it often times it will involve fraudulent claims of earning the Congressional Medal of Honor. The Congressional Medal of Honor is the nation s highest award for valor in actions against the enemy given to individuals serving in the United States military. Since its inception in 1862, the Medal of Honor has been awarded 3,468 times, of which 621 were awarded posthumously (U. S. Army Center of Military History, 2015). Those ... Military members are given benefits and authority through the recognition of their uniform and sacrifice to this nation. Similarly, law enforcement and government officials have the same benefits. Since military members are given the same benefits and authority as law enforcement and government officials it should be a felony to impersonate military personnel as well. She makes an unjust choice when she gives her father, Mr. Grierson, domination over her. Mr. Grierson kept his daughter sheltered and away from everyone because he felt the young men in their town weren t good enough for her. When Mr. Grierson dies, Emily Grierson receives freedom and start what she would call a new start. She soon gains interest to Homer Barron. She is scared to lose Mr. Barron of her love and attraction to him that she never shared with no other man, other than her father. She wants to control Homer Barron like her father did her. Consequently, she makes another unjust decision, which is the climax of the story, she poisons him. Ms. Grierson poisoning Homer Barron is unwise because she will never know what future with him will be like. Unfortunately, Homer Baron did not feel the same attraction that she did for him. When she was first seen with Homer Barron, it was obvious that they would get married. Then, it was finally known that Homer Barron liked men and he would drink with the younger men in the Elks club. • 37. T.S.Eliot Murder in the Cathedral T.S. Eliot s Murder in the Cathedral tells the story of Thomas Beckett, a man who reigned as Archbishop of Canterbury during the 12th century in England until his death in 1170. In order to tell Beckett s story, Eliot creates a series of equally interesting characters that each play a crucial role thought the play. The most unique rolefound within the play is the Women ofCanterbury, or the Chorus. Throughout the piece, the Chorus delivers seven choral odes. These choral odes, when looked at as a collective work tell a story. They begin with brief foreshadowing of events that will occur later in the play, but then quickly jump into necessary storyline; one which summarizes the events of the pasts, and then immerses the audience into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later in the choral ode, the women say, We are afraid in a fear which we cannot know, which we cannot face, which none understands. This illustrates thedepth and complexity of the fear which they are facing, for they know not how to neither combat it nor completely comprehend it. All the people know is that with Thomas comes death upon their home of Canterbury, so the beg him to leave us, leave us, leave us sullen Dover, andset sail for France. The fear of the second choral ode becomes a reality in the third. The Women of Canterbury know what decision Beckett has made. They tell him, We have not been happy, my Lord, we have not been too happy. We are not ignorant women, we know what we must expect and not expect. By saying this, the Women of Canterbury mean that they understandthe consequences that Thomas has chosen by staying in Canterbury. They know that he will perish if he stays. Then the women begin to despair. They cry, God gave us always some reason, some hope; but now a new terror has soiled us, which none can avert, and, God is leaving us, God is leaving us, more pang, more pain than birth or death. • 38. The Suicide Car And Truck Bombings I chose the August 1998 simultaneous suicide car and truck bombings of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Tanzania because I believe that not only were the attacks a precursor of how future terrorist attacks were to be planned and executed, but it was also the first successful terrorist strike by the al Qaeda network. The first bombing occurred at the American Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya on August 7, 1998. The attack killed 213, injuring thousands over 150 people blinded by flying glass. Approximately nine minutes later, the American Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania was also bombed, killing 11 and wounding 85 (Wright, 2006). Both bombings were the result of planned attacks by al Qaeda and with the approval of Osama Bin Laden. On a personal level, I had only been with the FBI a little less than a year, and the bombings were my first experience in an international terrorism matter. It was also served as a harbinger of the new direction the FBI would be taking. One of by squad mates, Bill, who was formerly a Marine Corp officer, had previously worked at one of the embassies. He was immediately deployed to the region in a supporting investigative role. The needs of the Bureau far outweighed his obligation to our drug squad in Miami or the FBI Miami Division for that matter. • 42. Anti Federalists Vs. Federalists Anti Federalists vs. Federalists (Paper #1) The Federalists and the Anti Federalists played an indispensable part in the establishment of the American Constitution. Federalists were supporters of the constitution, while Anti federalist were against the ratification of the Constitution. Federalists believed in the idea of a larger heterogeneous republic whereas anti federalists wanted a small homogenous republic. Famous federalists like James Madison, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton are responsible for giving us paramount pieces of historic documents in the form of the Federalist papers . The Federalist papers were 85 documents urging the ratification of the US Constitution. Anti federalist side included people like Samuel Adams, George Mason and Patrick Henry, and they believed the Articles of Confederation should be altered rather than completely changed in the form of the Constitution. Concurring with the Federalist side, it is imperative to see that the Federalists argument was more viable, due to the fact that larger republics and checks and balances are useful tools in controlling a democracy. We can t compare ourselves to the way Sparta and Athens operated. Our country would thrive more under a stronger national government rather than a stronger state government. The anti federalists were against the proposed Constitution and wanted the power to be invested in local and state levels. They believed that the national government would be too far from the ... • 43. Mary Shelly and the Romantic Era The story written by Mary Shelly reflects the mood of the Romantic era in numerous ways. Some of these themes include views on science, changes in the weather across Europe, mistrust of advancements in science and the role of disease and death and the loneliness that resulted. The experiences of Shelly and even the setting and location where she formed the idea for Frankenstein display interesting themes of the time period. Disease and death were a common theme throughout the Romantic era. Not only did it affect Shelly s life directly, the topic of personal loss was evident throughout her novel. The murders of Victor s family and friends by the monster displayed this theme but it was also on display early in the book with Victor s mother catching the Scarlet Fever and dying after attending to Elizabeth during a bout of the same. Disease, tragedy and death seemed to be a sad but very common part of life during this time period. Interestingly, changes in the climate and weather of Europe were a key factor in the idea of Frankenstein coming about. Due to this inclement weather, a period of time was spent indoors by Mary, her husband and some of her friends. After discussions about ghost stories, gothic writings and reanimated corpses, Mary s imagination rose to the occasion and after a nightmare one night Frankenstein was born. They have influenced me in my everyday life and so many great musicians in the past 50 years. This fact alone, makes it hard to imagine that they were once influenced by someone else. While doing some research, I found various artists that influenced them through the beginning of their careers until the very end. In the following paragraphs, I will be sharing with you a few of the artists I thought to be the most influential to The Beatles extremely successful career and why I thought them to be so influential. They quickly slicked their hair back, got sideburns, tight jeans called drainpipes , and crepe soled shoes, all in true Elvis style. John was so inspired by Elvis, that it drove him to create his first skiffle group called The Quarrymen. Another early influence of The Beatles, was one of the most influential guitar players of early rock and roll, Chuck Berry. Berry was known for cultivation and development of rhythm and blues music. He is known as one of rock and roll s pioneers. Not only was Berry s style heard a lot in early Beatles albums, his songs Roll Over Beethoven and Rock and Roll Music were later covered by The Beatles. In 1963, The Beatles reached their first number one hit. Though Please Please Me has more of a high energy fast tempo, the song was inspired by Roy Orbison s 1960 hit Only the Lonely . It was John Lennon s attempt at writing a Roy Orbison song. The Beatles were fond of Roy Orbison s song writing and distinct singing approach.
