The Negative Effects Of Inbreeding Within The Spanish...
Effects of Inbreeding Within the Spanish Habsburgs Dynasty Inbreeding is an extremely controversial
topic of debate that has been around since biblical times. The most extreme form of inbreeding is
incest, which is primarily between first cousins and second first cousins. Humans practice inbreeding
for many different reasons, including royalty, religion, culture, socioeconomic class, geographic
isolation, and small populations. Possibly the most dramatic instance of incest for reasons of royalty
was within Habsburg Dynasty. The Habsburg Dynasty was one of the most powerful dynasties in
Medieval and Renaissance Europe, beginning in the early 12th century. The group controlled huge
portions of Europe, including Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Italy, France, and Spain, maintaining
control by marrying only within their dynasty. Most marriages within the dynasty were
consanguineous, meaning marriage between close blood relatives, taking place between first cousins,
double first cousins, and uncles/nieces. Although their inbreeding originally led to their rise in power,
it consequently led to their eventual demise. By the end of the 17th century, the negative effects of
their marital practices became obvious through that the dynasty had distinctive physical mutations,
including a protruding lip, high infant mortality rate, and many health problems. By 1700, the
Habsburgs were sterile, therefore, unable to produce an heir. Another effect of these marriages was
that infant and

During the 1960 s, Pete was mainly concerned with equality and fairness of the people. He
participated in many civil rights protests and marches. He organized many social rallies that he
participated in as well. His political beliefs were devoted to the leftist political organizations and had
been accused of being Stalin s songbird . He was truly against the beliefs of President Roosevelt. He
did not feel that workers rights were a high enough priority for the government. During this period,
Pete Seeger began writing books. His greatest publications include The Bells of Rhymney and Other
Songs and Stories and American Favorite Ballads, Tunes and Folksongs as Sung by Pete Seeger. In the
book Carry it on! A History in Song and Picture of America s Working Men and Women, Seeger and
Reiser tell a story with songs describing every little aspect to the struggle of workers, specifically what
they did in order to make things right. Farm workers have been treated like livestock, herded into
overcrowded dormitories or housed in shacks. In the prosperous 1960 s, the average farm worker
made less than $2000 a year . This example is followed by a song called Deportee which is written
from the perspective of a farmer. Another book The Incompleat Folksinger , explores the many aspects
of folklore music and what impacts it has had on Pete. He describes his songs to tell of

My Best Days Of My Life
Wednesday, December 16th, or as I like to call it, one of the best days of my life. Is it cliché to call my
first concert experience one of the best days of my life? Probably. But it was just such a surreal
experience. I went to go see The 1975 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. My best friend knew
that I had never been to a concert before, so on my Birthday she gave me tickets to go see The 1975 as
a gift. I had been looking forward to the concert for months, and when the day finally came, I felt both
nervous and excited to go see one of my favorite bands. The 1975 is an alternative rock/indie rock/pop
music band who I had heard of due to another band that decided to cover one of their songs. The first
song I heard was called Medicine. It was two in the morning and I was driving to Arizona. Such a
beautiful song, something about it was almost therapeutic for me. I fell in love with it instantly. After
my trip to Arizona, I finally had time to do my research. I listened to The 1975 s entire discography
and they immediately became one of my favorite bands. I was glad that The 1975 would be my first
concert experience ever.
It was a cold Wednesday morning, I woke up at around six and waited for my friends to pick me up so
we could go eat breakfast at IHOP before we made our way to Los Angeles. Upon arrival we decided
to make a few stops before heading to the venue. We decided to do some shopping at The Grove.
Being the huge book nerd that I am, I of course had to

The Caldecott Medal Essay
The Caldecott Medal is named after Randolph Caldecott, a 19th century illustrator. The award is
presented to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children and was first
awarded in 1938 for a book called Animals of the Bible illustrated by Dorothy Lathrop. The award is
given out once a year every year since 1938 with the most recent award recipient being Dan Santat for
The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend. Originally there were no awards given out to the
illustrators of children books, but once you look at the detail and story building illustrations in each of

Structural Testing And Component Integration Testing Essay
 The structural testing is the testing of the structure of the system or component.  Structural testing
is often referred to as white box or glass box or clear box testing because in structural testing we are
interested in what is happening inside the system/application .  In structural testing the testers are
required to have the knowledge of the internal implementations of the code. Here the testers require
knowledge of how the software is implemented, how it works.  During structural testing the tester is
concentrating on how the software does it. For example, a structural technique wants to know how
loops in the software are working. Different test cases may be derived to exercise the loop once, twice,
and many times. This may be done regardless of the functionality of the software.  Structural testing
can be used at all levels of testing. Developers use structural testing in component testing and
component integration testing, especially where there is good tool support for code coverage.
Structural testing is also used in system and acceptance testing, but the structures are different. For
example, the coverage of menu options or major business transactions could be the structural element
in system or acceptance testing. 5.4 Accuracy Assessment (Describe all the methods for assessing the
accuracy of your System) For access the accuracy of the application we check it different different

The Symptoms Of Dementia
The human brain is the most complex organ in the body, the seat of who human beings are, and what
they are. In the early 1800s, German physician Franz Joseph Gall suggested that different parts of the
brain control specific aspects of behavior. Functions such as movement, memory, speech, and the
overall behavior are controlled by localized parts of the brain. Unfortunately, recent research indicates
that as people age, various mental skills decline at different rates. Furthermore, one of the mental
diseases that affect mostly older people is dementia. Dementia is a syndrome (a group of related
symptoms) associated with an ongoing decline of the brain and its abilities (1). It describes a set of
symptoms that result in different types and treatments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them are far more common than others. They are often named after the condition that has
cause the dementia. The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer s disease. Other causes might
include injury or other diseases such as vascular dementia, dementia with lewy bodies, and a lot more.
In rare cases, people with Parkinson s disease, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, and
Huntington s disease have an increased chance of developing dementia. Additionally, depending on
the type of dementia, the symptoms can vary greatly. The most common symptom of dementia is
memory loss, but there are far more other symptoms of dementia such as impairments in
communication, language, focus, reasoning and judgment. Moreover, most types of dementia can t be
cured completely as They are progressive causing the brain cells to damage and die over time. But,
early diagnosis helps to control the symptoms and slow them down. Different drugs are prescribed for
different types of dementia. They can improve the symptoms, and some can stop the symptoms
temporarily. A person with mild to moderate Alzheimer s disease or mixed dementia may be
prescribed donepezil (often known by the brand name Aricept), rivastigmine (eg Exelon) or
galantamine (eg Reminyl). Donepezil, rivastigmine and galantamine can be helpful for someone with
dementia with Lewy bodies who has distressing hallucinations or delusions, or who has behaviours

conditions. These conditions often include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or heart

Scott Pilgrim s Nostalgia
Scott Pilgrim s Precious Nostalgia
In the Scott Pilgrim universe time is a central concept. Bryan Lee O Malley expertly layers the
familiar styles of classic videogames, music, and pop culture throughout the series to create nostalgia.
The author uses this nostalgia in order to emphasize the importance of the past and show Scott s
inability to grow. As Ryan Lizardi puts it in his essay Scott Pilgrim vs. hegemony: nostalgia,
remediation, and heteronormativity, Scott must deal with his past... his inability to grow up compared
with other characters, and...conquer Ramona s romantic history before they can move on in their
relationship, (Lizardi, ). The intertwining themes of past and immaturity reappear throughout the
series through the previously state medium of nostalgia.
Throughout the Scott Pilgrim series classic rock motifs are woven into the text in order to create a
feeling of nostalgia. An example of this is pages 17 20 in the first volume of the ... Show more content

INTRODUCTION
Antibiotics are developed for the treatment of bacterial infections due to their effective clinical
properties (Appendix Fig. 2). They are extensively utilized for the inhibition of bacterial; DNA, RNA,
proteins and cell wall synthesis (reference). However, the efficiency of treating bacterial infections has
vastly deteriorated because of the ongoing emergence of multi drug resistant pathogens (Appendix
Fig. 3 Table 1 8) (reference). The prolonged use and misuse of antibiotics have resulted in the
evolution of bacteria attaining mechanisms which, prevent antibiotics from binding to their molecular
targets (Appendix Fig. 4) (reference). Additionally, antibiotic resistance occurs in both gram negative
and gram positive bacteria. An important aspect of antimicrobial resistance has been shown to be the
presence of LPS in most gram negative bacteria (reference). The negatively charged highly polar LPS
symbolises a tenacious barrier which reduces permeability. This barrier protects the bacterial outer
membrane bilayer against hydrophobic compounds including, the entry of antibiotics into bacterial
cells (reference). There are very few drugs which target LPS pathways. LPS signifies one of the major
paramount obstacles to the innovation of gram negative

My Career As A Counselor
It is going to be hard for me to write about my career because at this moment I am in the middle of
switching them. For the past four years I have felt called to be a counselor. I can understand teenagers,
which is what I wanted my counseling group to be, more than anyone. I felt called to counseling
because I wanted to use my past trials and mistakes to help others. I felt like that was the only way I
would be able to serve God. I felt if I did not stay with my career in counseling that I would be
betraying God because I was not directly showing His light to others through my career. I did not
waiver from that field of study because I was scared. I did not open up myself to every option
available. What I did not realize was that there does not have to be a specific way I show exemplify
God in my life. It never occurred to me that every calling and vocation exemplified God because He
was the one that gave me the ideas! After taking the Strengths Assessment and listening to the lectures
on vocation and calling, I better understand how I am supposed to understand my career.
The first message of the vocation lectures that stuck out to me was the idea of the idolatry of choice. I
completely agree that we, as Christians, sometimes get caught up in the process of decision making.
We should allow God to make our final decisions. I also think, though, that God puts in our hearts
desires and dreams that match up with our strengths. He does not want to stumble around

required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and keep the home in
smooth working order. After many protests, women wanted to empower their equal rights, and become
career women. Thanks to women s perseverance, today women are able to work, and be just as
qualified as men in their careers. Yet, there is still the debate over whether mothers should work, or be

There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put into
daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother, because
daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at home. This helped
to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and choose to use daycare. The
question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the mothers who work, their salaries
pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their families; the extra wages are just
breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide if the family can basically live on one
income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition of a working mother s income, what
happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or the husband becomes injured, and he can
not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a mother has a career, and a solid financial
income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will be more financially stable. With the possible
loss of the main income source, this can be devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother
would have to worry more about the lack of income instead of making the choice of sending her
children to daycare. In fact studies have shown that children who attend daycare are more successful
in socializing as they

Women s Role For A Management Job
Mothers are held to a higher standard than fathers may when it comes to proving competence.
Therefore, a Mother who is also a manager and takes time off such as leave, leads to perceptions that
she is not well suited for a management job, According to Gill and Davidson (2001), long hours,
frequent travel and attendance at work related functions are essential for mothers who seek
advancement in managerial or professional jobs. These authors concluded that work and family
identities were incompatible in the minds of many professionals and employers. It is however
interesting to note that women and men are entitled to take time off work following childbirth known
as parental leave but A study by (Suk, 2010) shows that women take 98 % of all unpaid parental or
maternity leave, even though this leave is available to both men and women which reinforces the
stereotype of women being the main caretaker of children, Additionally the provisions of these
schemes aim to ensure that the mother, can maintain her position in the labour market despite taking
time off to care for her child , however this is not necessarily the case as women are prone to
discrimination and stigmatization following childbirth. Parental leave schemes vary in their duration,
and in their benefit provision, as the UK provides statutory maternity leave of 56 weeks and provision
of statutory maternity pay (SMP) which is paid for up to 39 weeks and includes 90% of the employees
average weekly earnings before tax,

Learning And Development Processes Of A Child
The learning and development processes of a child have been debated for years, with no one theory
sticking out as the best explanation as to how and why we learn. Looking at the behaviourist and
humanist views of learning and development and the key theorists within them, you can see just how
different they can be with their explanations of this.
The key behaviourist views on learning are that learning is shaped by different incentives presented to
the child. External stimulus shapes learning, as it prompts a response and increases the likelihood of
the learner repeating the behaviour. Behaviourists believe development happens as a process of
learning and that it has nothing to do with pre determined stages relating to a child s age and or mental
ability. The behaviourist view works on a mix of operant and classical conditioning, operant
conditioning is a process of learning where behaviour is controlled by consequences such as positive
and negative reinforcements and positive and negative punishments. Classical conditioning is when
the learner simply responds to external stimuli in a deterministic manner (Jordan, Carlile, and Stack,
2008).
Pavlov, a behaviourist, looked deeply into the idea of classical conditioning and involuntary responses
to stimuli. Pavlov looked at the responses of dogs and found that when the dog was presented with
food the dog would salivate, which would be an unconditional response. But, when combined with the
ringing of a bell as the food was

nuclear energy is a highly controversial topic with many pros and cons. In comparison with fossil

Though terms such as Bourgeoisie and Proletariat are difficult to remember, they are just words to
identify two classes capitalist and worker. According to Ritzer, as a conflict theorist, Marx categorized
alienation into four particular types. First of all, labors in capitalist society are alienated from their
productive activity . It simply means workers do not produce items based on their needs or ideas. They
are just simply following instructions, instead of creating or directly satisfying their own needs. For
example, worker A needs some wheat and corn to feed himself and his family, instead of going to
grow corn by himself, he choose to go working for the capitalist, get pay check, and buy the wheat
and corn in a super store. In other words, the Capitalist gains control of the worker. Secondly, in
capitalist society, labors are alienated from the product. It means workers produced products that
completely belong to the capitalists, no matter how desperate the worker needs. For example, there
was a comic picture on newspaper about a story that a worker worked for a bakery factory starving for
death. Thirdly, workers in capitalist society are alienated from their associates. According to Marx,
capitalists assume that cooperation in capitalism is disrupted, therefore they requires less talk, more
work as principal in capitalism work place. Finally, labors in capitalist society are alienated from their
own human potential, which means at work place in

A Short Story About Thomas
One autumn morning, Thomas jumped out of bed, pulled open the curtains, and then gazed down at
the quiet cobblestone streets below. Leaves the colors of a brilliant sunset, playfully glided and danced
along the street s edge. He smiled. Soon the vending trucks would be pulling up outside, and the town
folks hurrying about as they prepared the streets for the Festival of Ghouls.
A grin formed across Thomas s face, as he glanced over at the grim reaper costume that was lying on
top of his dresser. Snatching it up, he pulled the black robe over his head, and then placed the skull
mask over his face. Covering his head with the hood, he grabbed the plastic scythe that was leaning
against the wall.
Standing in front of the mirror, he gazed at the dark, voiceless creature with the two empty eye sockets

of beliefs that made up the Taiping ideology during the Taiping Revolution (Smith). When the British
took control of Hong Kong, Christianity started to play a significant role in the social and political life
of Hong Kong. Christianity continues to be a major part of the cultural fabric, social life, and political
outlook of Hong Kong.
Originally, Christianity was part of the colonial toolkit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christianity was held out as a carrot for those who were interested in participating in British
dominated economic enterprises and political institutions. As it had done with its colonies in other
parts of Asia, the British government ensured that schools taught a Western curriculum that included
Christian theology and practice.
Thus, it soon became apparent that fundamental European social institutions like schools and
businesses could not be truly separated from Christianity. Conversion to Christianity meant essentially
submission to colonialist ideals. It was a calling card for entry into all but the upper echelons of
society, and most converts cared too little about cricket to care if they were banned from British
country clubs on the basis of their ethnicity. In fact, the British ensured complicity with its policies
precisely by allowing Chinese heritage and culture to flourish under the rubric of a Christianized Hong
Kong. It was possible to be both things at once: to be both Chinese and Christian. Without having to
abandon their culture, greater numbers of converts were willing to participate in this one dimension of
colonization. A passive approach to the Christianization of Hong Kong was rooted in the Treaty of
Nanking, which prohibited the British from engaging in overt forms of indoctrination but which
allowed British trade and commercial objectives to be met

I Am A Film Producer Who Has Recently Acquired The Rights
I am a film producer who has recently acquired the rights to She Unames Them by Ursula K. LeGuin.
She Unames Them features the Genesis character Eve as the main character. The short story is divided
into two sections. The first section is written in third person and is a detailed narrative of a multitude
of animals essentially giving up their names upon the command of Eve. It describes the response of
each animal in this matter. For instance, the story describes the elder female yaks holding a council
meeting to discuss whether they found it fit to rid themselves of their name. They also described the
issue with household pets that wished to keep the name their master gave them. The text states, But as
soon as they understood that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This us significant because in Genesis 3:20 it says, And Adam called his wife s name Eve; because she
was the mother of all living. Therefore, by giving up her title of mother of all living, Eve removes her
station as above the animals and makes herself one with them. Another reason this is significant is
because in Genesis 2:23 it is written, And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my
flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore, she is disconnecting
herself from Adam. She is no longer being called woman, which is taken out of man. She is unique
from all creation yet she is also connected with all of creation. Accordingly, the story implies the only
way to find true spirituality is by making yourself one with nature. This is implied through the
narrative of Adam searching for the key to the garden of Eden. This is ironic because he is essentially
looking for a material object to enter a spiritual place. However, by abandoning her human nature and
finding oneness with nature, Eve has managed to find Eden in the world outside of the garden. Then
when Adam asks what time dinner is, which is important because cooking dinner is often considered a
womanly task. Eve does not know how to answer this questions. This shows she has forsaken what
Adam believes her role job is as a woman in favor of joining the animals. This moral is important
because it supports humanism and nature. It also

Privacy In George Orwell s 1984, The National Social Agency
As Marlon Brando once said, Privacy is not something that I m merely entitled to , it s an absolute
prerequisite. In George Orwell s 1984, the people of Oceania had no privacy. They were being
controlled and being monitor by a totalitarian government known as Big Brother. In today s Society,
the National Social Agency (NSA) spies on us through our phones, computers, cameras, etc. The
novel 1984 and it s telescreens are similar to the NSA. Orwell is effective in making people aware of
that issue, however, it failed to predict that today s society willingly contributes to the NSA
surveillance.
Who knew that Orwell s 1984 and today s NSA would be so alike. If you want to keep a secret you
must keep it from yourself (). This illustrates that in 1984 their privacy was limited. ... Show more

An article called The Guardian stated a study released on 14 January.... Americans often are willing to
give up some level of privacy if there is a perceived tangible benefit, at least to a point Why is that? Is
it because if we contribute to the NSA they will keep us safe. By giving them the opportunity to
invalid or privacy they could find those criminals that are doing wrong. Even though we know the
NSA spies on we still use our phones and computers etc. In orwell s 1984 Freedom is slavery . Big
Brother is the leader of Oceania. His people were slaves because they could not do anything without
him knowing. They will get punished if they did not do so. Even though the people of Oceania were
slaves they were safe. Well it is not like they had a choice right. The difference between the NSA and
1984 is that americans let the NSA spy on us and in 1984 they were force. But the difference between
that is in 1984 they were safer then the americans today because they were stricter. Freedom being

James Watson s The Race For The Double Helix
In The Race for the Double Helix there were five major characters that helped make the discovery of

just to meet up and talk to different scientists. He would go to dinner parties and even parties and talk
to all kinds of people about DNA. He was very enthusiastic in the way he worked and collaborated
with different people. All he wanted was to be the first to make a correct model of DNA and he had
some help from his partner Francis Crick. Francis Crick, partner of James Watson, was on the same

Porcini s Inc., a high quality Italian cuisine in most of North Eastern US region, operates a chain of 23

company is hoping that this will increase its brand image internationally. However, there are number
of issues attached to this notion. The restaurant has very limited access to capital. Also, not a lot of
consumers are aware of Porcini s new brand, Pronto. Thus, the main issue is that Porcini must
maintain the well known, high quality of its food and service not only while it is expanding its market
through Pronto but also while it is competing with the famous, equally competitive restaurants, and

General George Patton s Blood And Guts
General George Patton, also known as Blood and Guts , was and is known as one of the best there
was. Patton was a highly effective pioneer, advocate, and exponent of modern mechanized warfare as
well as doctrine of highly mobile offensive. (Axelrod, 2006) The soldiers that served under Patton in
the Third and Seventh Army s knew him as a soldier s leader and took his death very hard. They
considered Patton one of the greatest men that ever lived. Patton professed to be a Christian and was
certain that God destined him to military greatness. (Axelrod, 2006) Patton was an incredible leader to
the third and seventh armies, yet he was continuously threatened with being removed from command.
He suffered from dyslexia, deep depression, and episodes of hysteria which made his confidence
levels close to zero. Yet he led armies under him into victories that exuded confidence. There were
mothers that were terrified of Patton s tactics with their sons, but Dwight D. Eisenhower was sure that
those same tactics used by Patton would save those soldier s lives. Patton was a strong leader that led
by example. He fought with his soldiers and was on the front line right beside them. When he spoke,
he may have been feared, but he was also respected. He was a man of his word. He put soldiers in
place that he knew would get the job done. He made sure his soldiers were always on guard and ready

Alamo Stereotypes
Texas was fighting the Mexican army for their independence in 1835, which leads to fighting in the
small fort called the Alamo. The Texans had been defeated at the Alamo, on April 23, 1836, for
Texans, the Battle of the Alamo became a symbol of the resistance to oppression and their struggle for
independence, which they won later that year. The 1915 movie The Alamo (The Birth of Texas) was
the first movie to tell us what happened in the Battle of the Alamo but did a bad job in telling it. There
was another film made in 2004 also called the Alamo which did a much better job than the original
one in 1915. Both the 1915 and 2004 are good movies but have many scenes and information factually
wrong.
The 1915 movie for the Alamo was full of stereotypes and racism for Mexicans, black people, and
women. The Mexicans in this film were not played by Mexican actors but white men painted in brown
paint also known as brown face. The Mexicans were portrayed as people that are always drunk and
having parties. Which is incorrect Mexicans are proud, hardworking, and respectfully people and they
are villains in this movie. In the movie, they show the Mexicans dancing and drinking in the middle of
the day without a care in the world.
The women in this film are shown to be parting and doing nothing just like the Mexican men in the
movie. They are shown wearing clothes that are not a part of that era of time when the Alamo
happened. The women are also white females that are painted in brown face

POC simply means scanning patient s medication at bedside before administering medication. This
enhances safe practice by making sure that the patients take the right medication observing the five
rights of medication administration (Waxlax, 2015). It is also important to note that medication with
dosage formulation such as insulin, medications in the form of ampules, ointments and creams, to
mention but a few need to be paid attention to as this will improve the practice of POC scanning
leading to error reduction during medication administration (Waxlax, 2015). For instance medication
in the form of ampules are titrated in the medication room. As a result of not preparing the said
medication at the patient s bedside, the nurse cannot be able to scan the barcode because he/she does
not have it at that time. To accomplish the practice of POC scanning, butterfly flag labels with the
appropriate barcode, can be placed both to the ampule and the syringe so that when the ampule is
opened, then the nurse can take the label from the ampule and the syringe to the patient s bedside for
scanning before administering the medication (Waxlax,

The Negative EffectsOf Inbreeding Within The Spanish... Effects of Inbreeding Within the Spanish Habsburgs Dynasty Inbreeding is an extremely controversial topic of debate that has been around since biblical times. The most extreme form of inbreeding is incest, which is primarily between first cousins and second first cousins. Humans practice inbreeding for many different reasons, including royalty, religion, culture, socioeconomic class, geographic isolation, and small populations. Possibly the most dramatic instance of incest for reasons of royalty was within Habsburg Dynasty. The Habsburg Dynasty was one of the most powerful dynasties in Medieval and Renaissance Europe, beginning in the early 12th century. The group controlled huge portions of Europe, including Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Italy, France, and Spain, maintaining control by marrying only within their dynasty. Most marriages within the dynasty were consanguineous, meaning marriage between close blood relatives, taking place between first cousins, double first cousins, and uncles/nieces. Although their inbreeding originally led to their rise in power, it consequently led to their eventual demise. By the end of the 17th century, the negative effects of their marital practices became obvious through that the dynasty had distinctive physical mutations, including a protruding lip, high infant mortality rate, and many health problems. By 1700, the Habsburgs were sterile, therefore, unable to produce an heir. Another effect of these marriages was that infant and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Best DaysOf My Life Wednesday, December 16th, or as I like to call it, one of the best days of my life. Is it cliché to call my first concert experience one of the best days of my life? Probably. But it was just such a surreal experience. I went to go see The 1975 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. My best friend knew that I had never been to a concert before, so on my Birthday she gave me tickets to go see The 1975 as a gift. I had been looking forward to the concert for months, and when the day finally came, I felt both nervous and excited to go see one of my favorite bands. The 1975 is an alternative rock/indie rock/pop music band who I had heard of due to another band that decided to cover one of their songs. The first song I heard was called Medicine. It was two in the morning and I was driving to Arizona. Such a beautiful song, something about it was almost therapeutic for me. I fell in love with it instantly. After my trip to Arizona, I finally had time to do my research. I listened to The 1975 s entire discography and they immediately became one of my favorite bands. I was glad that The 1975 would be my first concert experience ever. It was a cold Wednesday morning, I woke up at around six and waited for my friends to pick me up so we could go eat breakfast at IHOP before we made our way to Los Angeles. Upon arrival we decided to make a few stops before heading to the venue. We decided to do some shopping at The Grove. Being the huge book nerd that I am, I of course had to ... Structural Testing AndComponent Integration Testing Essay  The structural testing is the testing of the structure of the system or component.  Structural testing is often referred to as white box or glass box or clear box testing because in structural testing we are interested in what is happening inside the system/application .  In structural testing the testers are required to have the knowledge of the internal implementations of the code. Here the testers require knowledge of how the software is implemented, how it works.  During structural testing the tester is concentrating on how the software does it. For example, a structural technique wants to know how loops in the software are working. Different test cases may be derived to exercise the loop once, twice, and many times. This may be done regardless of the functionality of the software.  Structural testing can be used at all levels of testing. Developers use structural testing in component testing and component integration testing, especially where there is good tool support for code coverage. The Symptoms OfDementia The human brain is the most complex organ in the body, the seat of who human beings are, and what they are. In the early 1800s, German physician Franz Joseph Gall suggested that different parts of the brain control specific aspects of behavior. Functions such as movement, memory, speech, and the overall behavior are controlled by localized parts of the brain. Unfortunately, recent research indicates that as people age, various mental skills decline at different rates. Furthermore, one of the mental diseases that affect mostly older people is dementia. Scott Pilgrim sNostalgia Scott Pilgrim s Precious Nostalgia In the Scott Pilgrim universe time is a central concept. Bryan Lee O Malley expertly layers the familiar styles of classic videogames, music, and pop culture throughout the series to create nostalgia. The author uses this nostalgia in order to emphasize the importance of the past and show Scott s inability to grow. As Ryan Lizardi puts it in his essay Scott Pilgrim vs. hegemony: nostalgia, remediation, and heteronormativity, Scott must deal with his past... his inability to grow up compared with other characters, and...conquer Ramona s romantic history before they can move on in their relationship, (Lizardi, ). The intertwining themes of past and immaturity reappear throughout the series through the previously state medium of nostalgia. Throughout the Scott Pilgrim series classic rock motifs are woven into the text in order to create a feeling of nostalgia. An example of this is pages 17 20 in the first volume of the ... The series also mirrors classic video games from the eighties and nineties, such as Super Mario Brothers and The Legend of Zelda. An example of this can be seen on page 128 of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World when Ramona s ex boyfriend leaves behind his skateboard similar to how a videogame enemy would, (O Malley, #). A Study OnThe Hydrophobic Anchor Which Holds The... The hydrophobic anchor which holds the Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of gram negative bacteria in the outer leaflet of the outer membrane is Lipid A. This component is produced within the bacterial cell cytoplasm through the Lpx biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is then transported to the outer membrane (OM) via the Lpt biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is highly conserved, essential for virulence and bacterial viability. These qualities make it an attractive drug target which could aid in the development of inhibitors of gram negative bacteria. A recent study of the Lpx pathway has resulted in the identification of a key potential rate limiting enzyme (reference). That enzyme is tetraacyldisaccharide 1 phosphate 4 kinase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In conclusion, LpxK was purified and the results of this experiment produced an insight into the complexity of LpxK purification. INTRODUCTION Antibiotics are developed for the treatment of bacterial infections due to their effective clinical properties (Appendix Fig. 2). They are extensively utilized for the inhibition of bacterial; DNA, RNA, proteins and cell wall synthesis (reference). However, the efficiency of treating bacterial infections has vastly deteriorated because of the ongoing emergence of multi drug resistant pathogens (Appendix Fig. 3 Table 1 8) (reference). The prolonged use and misuse of antibiotics have resulted in the evolution of bacteria attaining mechanisms which, prevent antibiotics from binding to their molecular targets (Appendix Fig. 4) (reference). Additionally, antibiotic resistance occurs in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria. An important aspect of antimicrobial resistance has been shown to be the presence of LPS in most gram negative bacteria (reference). The negatively charged highly polar LPS symbolises a tenacious barrier which reduces permeability. This barrier protects the bacterial outer membrane bilayer against hydrophobic compounds including, the entry of antibiotics into bacterial cells (reference). My Career AsA Counselor It is going to be hard for me to write about my career because at this moment I am in the middle of switching them. For the past four years I have felt called to be a counselor. I can understand teenagers, which is what I wanted my counseling group to be, more than anyone. I felt called to counseling because I wanted to use my past trials and mistakes to help others. I felt like that was the only way I would be able to serve God. I felt if I did not stay with my career in counseling that I would be betraying God because I was not directly showing His light to others through my career. I did not waiver from that field of study because I was scared. I did not open up myself to every option available. What I did not realize was that there does not have to be a specific way I show exemplify God in my life. It never occurred to me that every calling and vocation exemplified God because He was the one that gave me the ideas! After taking the Strengths Assessment and listening to the lectures on vocation and calling, I better understand how I am supposed to understand my career. The first message of the vocation lectures that stuck out to me was the idea of the idolatry of choice. I completely agree that we, as Christians, sometimes get caught up in the process of decision making. We should allow God to make our final decisions. I also think, though, that God puts in our hearts desires and dreams that match up with our strengths. He does not want to stumble around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Working Mothers Essays WorkingMothers Carrie Grubb Axia College of University of Phoenix Working Mothers In previous generations, women had one role to accomplish; to care for their children. As mothers, women were required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and keep the home in smooth working order. After many protests, women wanted to empower their equal rights, and become career women. Thanks to women s perseverance, today women are able to work, and be just as qualified as men in their careers. Yet, there is still the debate over whether mothers should work, or be stay at home mothers. There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother, because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition of a working mother s income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack of income instead of making the choice of sending her children to daycare. In fact studies have shown that children who attend daycare are more successful in socializing as they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women s RoleFor A Management Job Mothers are held to a higher standard than fathers may when it comes to proving competence. Therefore, a Mother who is also a manager and takes time off such as leave, leads to perceptions that she is not well suited for a management job, According to Gill and Davidson (2001), long hours, frequent travel and attendance at work related functions are essential for mothers who seek advancement in managerial or professional jobs. These authors concluded that work and family identities were incompatible in the minds of many professionals and employers. It is however interesting to note that women and men are entitled to take time off work following childbirth known as parental leave but A study by (Suk, 2010) shows that women take 98 % of all unpaid parental or maternity leave, even though this leave is available to both men and women which reinforces the stereotype of women being the main caretaker of children, Additionally the provisions of these schemes aim to ensure that the mother, can maintain her position in the labour market despite taking time off to care for her child , however this is not necessarily the case as women are prone to discrimination and stigmatization following childbirth. Learning And DevelopmentProcesses Of A Child The learning and development processes of a child have been debated for years, with no one theory sticking out as the best explanation as to how and why we learn. Looking at the behaviourist and humanist views of learning and development and the key theorists within them, you can see just how different they can be with their explanations of this. The key behaviourist views on learning are that learning is shaped by different incentives presented to the child. External stimulus shapes learning, as it prompts a response and increases the likelihood of the learner repeating the behaviour. Behaviourists believe development happens as a process of learning and that it has nothing to do with pre determined stages relating to a child s age and or mental ability. The behaviourist view works on a mix of operant and classical conditioning, operant conditioning is a process of learning where behaviour is controlled by consequences such as positive and negative reinforcements and positive and negative punishments. Classical conditioning is when the learner simply responds to external stimuli in a deterministic manner (Jordan, Carlile, and Stack, 2008). Pavlov, a behaviourist, looked deeply into the idea of classical conditioning and involuntary responses to stimuli. Pavlov looked at the responses of dogs and found that when the dog was presented with food the dog would salivate, which would be an unconditional response. But, when combined with the ringing of a bell as the food was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though terms such as Bourgeoisie and Proletariat are difficult to remember, they are just words to identify two classes capitalist and worker. According to Ritzer, as a conflict theorist, Marx categorized alienation into four particular types. First of all, labors in capitalist society are alienated from their productive activity . It simply means workers do not produce items based on their needs or ideas. They are just simply following instructions, instead of creating or directly satisfying their own needs. For example, worker A needs some wheat and corn to feed himself and his family, instead of going to grow corn by himself, he choose to go working for the capitalist, get pay check, and buy the wheat and corn in a super store. In other words, the Capitalist gains control of the worker. Secondly, in capitalist society, labors are alienated from the product. It means workers produced products that completely belong to the capitalists, no matter how desperate the worker needs. For example, there was a comic picture on newspaper about a story that a worker worked for a bakery factory starving for death. Thirdly, workers in capitalist society are alienated from their associates. According to Marx, capitalists assume that cooperation in capitalism is disrupted, therefore they requires less talk, more work as principal in capitalism work place. Finally, labors in capitalist society are alienated from their own human potential, which means at work place in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Short StoryAbout Thomas One autumn morning, Thomas jumped out of bed, pulled open the curtains, and then gazed down at the quiet cobblestone streets below. Leaves the colors of a brilliant sunset, playfully glided and danced along the street s edge. He smiled. Soon the vending trucks would be pulling up outside, and the town folks hurrying about as they prepared the streets for the Festival of Ghouls. A grin formed across Thomas s face, as he glanced over at the grim reaper costume that was lying on top of his dresser. Snatching it up, he pulled the black robe over his head, and then placed the skull mask over his face. Covering his head with the hood, he grabbed the plastic scythe that was leaning against the wall. Standing in front of the mirror, he gazed at the dark, voiceless creature with the two empty eye sockets and grisly teeth. For a moment, he imagined the creature, not as ... The Impact OfChristianity On Hong Kong Arden Chan 12/9/2014 Christianity in Hong Kong By the time Hong Kong became a British colony, the foundation stones for Christianity had been laid. Both Catholicism and Protestant Christianity had firmly taken root in Macau since the arrival of the Portuguese in the seventeenth century. Christianity was also part of the bizarre and corrupted mixture of beliefs that made up the Taiping ideology during the Taiping Revolution (Smith). When the British took control of Hong Kong, Christianity started to play a significant role in the social and political life of Hong Kong. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christianity was held out as a carrot for those who were interested in participating in British dominated economic enterprises and political institutions. As it had done with its colonies in other parts of Asia, the British government ensured that schools taught a Western curriculum that included Christian theology and practice. Thus, it soon became apparent that fundamental European social institutions like schools and businesses could not be truly separated from Christianity. Conversion to Christianity meant essentially submission to colonialist ideals. It was a calling card for entry into all but the upper echelons of society, and most converts cared too little about cricket to care if they were banned from British country clubs on the basis of their ethnicity. In fact, the British ensured complicity with its policies precisely by allowing Chinese heritage and culture to flourish under the rubric of a Christianized Hong Kong. It was possible to be both things at once: to be both Chinese and Christian. Without having to abandon their culture, greater numbers of converts were willing to participate in this one dimension of colonization. A passive approach to the Christianization of Hong Kong was rooted in the Treaty of Nanking, which prohibited the British from engaging in overt forms of indoctrination but which allowed British trade and commercial objectives to be met ... The first section is written in third person and is a detailed narrative of a multitude of animals essentially giving up their names upon the command of Eve. It describes the response of each animal in this matter. Therefore, by giving up her title of mother of all living, Eve removes her station as above the animals and makes herself one with them. Another reason this is significant is because in Genesis 2:23 it is written, And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore, she is disconnecting herself from Adam. She is no longer being called woman, which is taken out of man. She is unique from all creation yet she is also connected with all of creation. Accordingly, the story implies the only way to find true spirituality is by making yourself one with nature. This is implied through the narrative of Adam searching for the key to the garden of Eden. This is ironic because he is essentially looking for a material object to enter a spiritual place. However, by abandoning her human nature and finding oneness with nature, Eve has managed to find Eden in the world outside of the garden. Then when Adam asks what time dinner is, which is important because cooking dinner is often considered a womanly task. Eve does not know how to answer this questions. This shows she has forsaken what Adam believes her role job is as a woman in favor of joining the animals. This moral is important because it supports humanism and nature. It also ... Privacy In GeorgeOrwell s 1984, The National Social Agency As Marlon Brando once said, Privacy is not something that I m merely entitled to , it s an absolute prerequisite. In George Orwell s 1984, the people of Oceania had no privacy. They were being controlled and being monitor by a totalitarian government known as Big Brother. In today s Society, the National Social Agency (NSA) spies on us through our phones, computers, cameras, etc. The novel 1984 and it s telescreens are similar to the NSA. Orwell is effective in making people aware of that issue, however, it failed to predict that today s society willingly contributes to the NSA surveillance. General George Pattons Blood And Guts General George Patton, also known as Blood and Guts , was and is known as one of the best there was. (Axelrod, 2006) The soldiers that served under Patton in the Third and Seventh Army s knew him as a soldier s leader and took his death very hard. They considered Patton one of the greatest men that ever lived. Patton professed to be a Christian and was certain that God destined him to military greatness. (Axelrod, 2006) Patton was an incredible leader to the third and seventh armies, yet he was continuously threatened with being removed from command. He suffered from dyslexia, deep depression, and episodes of hysteria which made his confidence levels close to zero. Yet he led armies under him into victories that exuded confidence. There were mothers that were terrified of Patton s tactics with their sons, but Dwight D. Eisenhower was sure that those same tactics used by Patton would save those soldier s lives. Patton was a strong leader that led by example. He fought with his soldiers and was on the front line right beside them. When he spoke, he may have been feared, but he was also respected. Alamo Stereotypes Texas wasfighting the Mexican army for their independence in 1835, which leads to fighting in the small fort called the Alamo. The Texans had been defeated at the Alamo, on April 23, 1836, for Texans, the Battle of the Alamo became a symbol of the resistance to oppression and their struggle for independence, which they won later that year. The 1915 movie The Alamo (The Birth of Texas) was the first movie to tell us what happened in the Battle of the Alamo but did a bad job in telling it. There was another film made in 2004 also called the Alamo which did a much better job than the original one in 1915. Both the 1915 and 2004 are good movies but have many scenes and information factually wrong. The 1915 movie for the Alamo was full of stereotypes and racism for Mexicans, black people, and women. The Mexicans in this film were not played by Mexican actors but white men painted in brown paint also known as brown face. The Mexicans were portrayed as people that are always drunk and having parties. Which is incorrect Mexicans are proud, hardworking, and respectfully people and they are villains in this movie. In the movie, they show the Mexicans dancing and drinking in the middle of the day without a care in the world. The women in this film are shown to be parting and doing nothing just like the Mexican men in the movie. They are shown wearing clothes that are not a part of that era of time when the Alamo happened. The women are also white females that are painted in brown face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This enhances safe practice by making sure that the patients take the right medication observing the five rights of medication administration (Waxlax, 2015). It is also important to note that medication with dosage formulation such as insulin, medications in the form of ampules, ointments and creams, to mention but a few need to be paid attention to as this will improve the practice of POC scanning leading to error reduction during medication administration (Waxlax, 2015). For instance medication in the form of ampules are titrated in the medication room. As a result of not preparing the said medication at the patient s bedside, the nurse cannot be able to scan the barcode because he/she does not have it at that time. To accomplish the practice of POC scanning, butterfly flag labels with the appropriate barcode, can be placed both to the ampule and the syringe so that when the ampule is opened, then the nurse can take the label from the ampule and the syringe to the patient s bedside for scanning before administering the medication (Waxlax, ...
