The Supply And Demand Market Essay
The supply and demand market is a way for companies to control cost and work with their
suppliers to create a supply line that provides the materials for their products; to produce their
products at a cost that will allow them to price and sell it to consumers and make a profit. In the
supply and demand market Honda started out using the fixed factory model that has allowed Honda
to go from importing motorbikes to the United States to making automobiles in the United States as
well as some of their other products. Hondas supply line started in Japan and has expanded all over
the world in almost every country in the world by making the products they sell in their different
factories. Honda motor company operates 31 different facilities in the United States alone to
manufacture their products using domestic and globally sourced parts. (world.honda.com/news
/2015) With Honda expanding their supply chain in different countries they have been able to cut
down on the importing and exporting of their products made by the Honda Motor Company. With
Honda being started in 1964 they have transitioned from not only making motorbikes to making
automobiles, all terrain vehicles, jets, lawn equipment, motor sports, and power equipment and with
the increase of products their supply chain has changed. Honda started out in Japan with one factory
making motorbikes then it progressed into a company that made automobiles in the same factory in
the supply and demandmarket Honda has gone from

Andrew Carnegie s Life During The Progressive Era
During the Progressive Era there was a lot of horrible things happening. There were people that
didn t try to make it easier to live at this time. Those people didn t care who they hurt or took
over to get what they wanted to get more money. Andrew Carnegie is a robber baron and that
means he will do whatever is necessary to be on top. He was born November 25, 1835 in
Dunfermline United Kingdom. when he was 16 he had a friend in scotland and they wrote letter to
each other. Carnegie wrote to him a lot about different things. They discuss how their two countries
were so different in the way that it handles different issues. at that time he was so good at writing
letters that he wrote for the newspaper. When Carnegie was younger he had to

Information Security Threats
The problem experienced by the Wayward Pines Public Library of having one of their public
access computers (PAC) becoming a zombie member of a Botnet army is not an isolated one. As
mentioned by Kim Zetter (2015), Botnets have been around for more than a decade and have
become one of the most popular methods attackers use to hijack machines and make quick money.
The securityindustry estimates that botnets, over time, have resulted in more than $110 billion in
losses to victims globally. An estimated 500 million computers fall prey to botnet attackers
annually, which comes down to about 18 victims infected per second.
She further defines a Botnet and its zombie army as one or more computers all controlled by the

(B. Hough, p. 21) Finally, the deployment of a firewall configured to use PAT will ensure the
computers will use internal private IP addresses which will be translated to one external public
IP address. This essentially hides the entire internal IP address space behind the single external
IP address. (F. Semperboni, 2013) Using this model will allow the library to need one external
IP address provided by the ISP, allowing the return of the other 19 unused IP addresses.
Therefore, the library will only be billed for the signal IP address, saving them money.
Additionally, the firewall should use the statful examination of the traffic entering in thru the
external interface on its way out of the internal interfaces. If the traffic meets particular states that
the firewall has identified as being acceptable then, it allows the traffic to continue and drops
those that do not. These types of firewalls are the first and primary line of defense for most
organizations and provide better performance over other types of firewalls. (Tim Boyles, 2010, p.

Apollo 13 Summary
A CASE SUMMARY OF APOLLO 13 (1985) When Apollo 13 mission was launched by NASA,
which was to take crew of seasoned astronauts to the moon headed by Jim Lovell. On the way to
the moon, one of the liquid oxygen tanks exploded, and the other one began leaking. In addition,
there were the problem of inadequate air and electricity to get them back because of all these
problem. The mission team headed by Gene Kranz rose to the occasion , by taking calculated risks
to ensure that the survival of the crew members. Both parties never allowed themselves to consider
possibility that the crew members would not make it home. Leadership is all about influence. It is

Globalization Is The Increasing Inter Connectedness Of...
1. Globalization is defined in the book as the increasing inter connectedness of people and places
through converging economic, political, and cultural activities. Cultures and countries are now
linked much more than they used to be in the past as technology continues to grow. It s becoming
cheaper and easier to set up technology in lesser developed countries as well as that it continues to
grow in more developed countries. Fast food restaurants are now changing and transferring to other
countries and changing the menu to the culture of that country in an attempt to make more money.
These restaurants from America transferring to other countries are causing diets to become
unhealthy much as they have in America. Most American s don t go a week without eating at some
fast food restaurant. Western consumerist culture has also transferred. America is absolutely
infatuated with spending to get what they think they need when in actuality they don t. Most
scholars believe that economic organization is a large part of globalization. It includes global
communications that link all people. It also includes better transportation systems, transnational
business strategies, and promotion of free trade. There are many positives to globalization. One of
which is more money being put into lesser developed countries. This is a plus because this causes
people in those countries to be able to succeed and support themselves. Also governments of
different countries can better work together

The Health Care Industry Of Colorado
I would like to bring an important matter to your attention that is not only affecting the health of the
citizens of Colorado, but is incurring significant cost to the local government and risk to the health
care industry in this state. The health care industry in Colorado is experiencing challenging issues
with sharing vital health care information between affiliated and unaffiliated medical practice
providers. Hokenstrom indicates that as patients tend to move between specialty providers it is not
uncommon that their health information can become lost in transit or forgotten originating facility.
This inability to share information frequently results in duplication of efforts and cost to the
patient. Not only does this impede efficient and timely care, but carries a high degree of risk to the
patient. In sum, there are solutions to help resolve these issues. Dr. Mendelson, Dr. Bak, Dr.
Menschik, and Dr. Siegel have expressed in their research on Imaging Informatics that barriers to
internet transfer of information remain a constant concern, however, surmounting these concerns is
not unattainable. The University of Chicago issued a study of five states who worked together to
extend their Health Information Exchange (HIE) program in a collaborative effort to share data
between Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Montana, and Oregon. There were several common challenges
identified to include: 1) limited understanding of HIE; 2) sustainability of the program; and 3)

The Emergence Of Applicant Tracking Systems ( Ats )
The emergence of applicant tracking systems (ATS) has gained a reputation beginning early in
the new millennium. The use of ATS gives companies a method to manage a mass amount of
candidate data and causes the job seeker to do more work. The main characteristic of ATS is the
piece that selects resumes for further review. This can be a standalone system or module within
a human resources management system. Two of the larger ATS is Taleo which is an Oracle
company and Kenexa which is a part of IBM. Often times when a job seeker is browsing on a
company website or job power, somewhere on the screen will say Powered by followed by
whatever applicant tracking systemis being used. ATS are meant to provide customized solutions for
these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some screeners eyeball every submission that comes in, while others search for certain
keywords among applications. Likewise, there are screeners who consider cover letters in their
evaluations and those who ignore them. Career experts suggest erring on the side of caution.
Submit a carefully written cover letter and insert keywords must have qualifications usually
found in the job posting with every application. Job hunters should expect to wait anywhere
from a few days to several weeks before receiving a response to an application, if at all.
(Needleman). The system will look for those words to determine who moves forward in the
process. However, newer technology analyzes the words and looks for context and relevance
and can check where in someone s work history a skill was used. These techniques make it
harder to manipulate the system. Such tricks like filling your resume with keywords in white
font so people can t read it will not work with later technology. Resumes posted in applicant
tracking systems are seen by two viewers: the computer, then hopefully a human. The resume has
to perform well in the ATS, and then when it is presented to a hiring manager it has to look good.
Social media has changed the way businesses work and recruit for new employees. Once hiring
managers get a hold of resumes, they look for ways to exclude

Prejudice In The 12 Angry Men
Prejudice is something that every one has experienced or seen in other people. In the film The
12 Angry Men, the 12 jurors are ready to send a young man to the execution chair for the murder
of his father. 11 of the twelve men vote that the boy is guilty but juror number 8 votes not guilty.
This man was able to see passed his prejudices while the other men are seemly blinded by them.
You can t dwell on what might have been... and it s not fair to condemn him for something he hasn
t done. ( Wendelin van Draanen) In the 1957 MGM film twelve angry men, the jurors reveal their
prejudices through their beliefs, words and attitude. A great example of how peoples beliefs can
influence the way they think about other people. The jurornumber 11 sees the young manas still a
child and in the men s eyes all children are born as liars. They are incapable of telling the truth and
therefore the boywould have had to kill his father and didn t go to the movies that night during
the murder like he said. This is backed up by juror number 4 who says that the boy couldn t seem
to remember the movie he saw or the actors that stared in the film. If he couldn t remember that
the movie then he must be lying about seeing the movie. But juror number 8 proves that not
everyone can remember every little fact about every movie. The boy had just gone to the movies
and came back to find his father dead on the floor and police arresting him. It is very unlikely that

Osama Bin Laden, A Powerful Leader
Osama bin Laden is a powerful influential leader to his followers. He also has significance
approaches to them as well. Bin laden created a new group in 1988 called al Qaeda ( the base )
to where it would focus on a symbolic act of terrorism instead of military campaign. A year later
in 1989 the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan, soon after that bin laden returned to Saudi
Arabia to step up fundraising for the new and more complicated mission (History.com 2009).
The pro Western Saudi royal family feared that bin Laden s fiery pan Islamist rhetoric might
cause trouble in the kingdom, so they tried to keep him quite as they could. Therefore, the royal
family took away his passport and refused to accept his offer to send Afghan Arabs to guard the
borders after Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990 (History.com 2009). However, the Saudi royal family
did not make it any better when they sought help from the infidel U.S. instead. Since bin Laden
was furious about being snubbed by the Saudi royal family, he vowed that it would be al Qaeda, and
not the Americans, who would one day; prove to be master of this world.
Osama bin Laden kept his promise when he said that al Qaeda would be the master of the world.
Bin Laden, was best viewed as a terrorist CEO, where he essentially applied the techniques of
business administration and modern management, which he had learned both from his family s
construction business and at the university, to the running of a transnational terrorist

How Durkheim Makes A Very Accurate Argument About Suicide
Durkheim makes a very accurate argument about suicide and why it happens. There are many
reasons why people commit suicide that are other than bad reasons. Everyone tends to think that
suicides only happen when a person is feeling upset. But Durkheim makes an argument that suicide
can happen even when a person is really happy. There are a lot of factors that can cause a person to
commit suicidesuch as feeling upset, not belonging, being too happy, or even just a sudden change
in life aspects can cause a person to commit suicide. Changes in the anomie of the population can
really affect a person.
When it comes to the community having a rise in suicide I would say that it has to do with the
sudden rise in the economic state for the member of the community. Since there have been a lot
of people that have come into money thee past finical position has changed very dramatically.
Durkheim states that when a person experiences a severe change in economic status they seem
to lose their minds. They are not able to figure out what to with all of the money therefore
conduct into a new life that is very out of there control. They might spend all of the money too
quickly and fall into a depression or they might feel that even with all of the money in the world
they are not able to really be happy thus leading to suicide as well. Durkheim urges that this is
possible both ways when a person loses lots of money or when they come into a lot of money. This
can also happen to a person if

Nietzsche And Mill s Ideas Of Freedom
Free to Disagree A primary objective of identifying common ground between Nietzsche and Mill
s ideas of freedom is to define freedom adequately so that it can be used as a basis for
comparison. Each theorist s opinion on what freedom is, however, appears to be fairly distinct.
Mill might describe freedom as the absence of constraints to original, individual thought,
whereas Nietzsche conceptualizes freedom as continual self overcoming to evolve a more
actualized self. Freedom for Nietzsche is overcoming wrong beliefs and creating one s own
values, whereas for Mill, freedom is having the leeway to discover one s own values. In effect,
Mill focuses on the structural protections or necessities that allow creativity to flourish, and
Nietzsche wants to deconstruct those structures that impede that flourishing. Mill emphasizes
optimizing the political and social realms, which in theory then provide a safe haven for
Nietzsche s intrapsychic or spiritual struggle. Thus, Mill s definition could be described as
political whereas Nietzsche s could be understood as transformational. Both strive toward
achieving the highest level of individual potential, and both want to support discovery of one s
most individualized beliefs. Given that each theorist has such distinct views on the definition itself,
however, one needs to extrapolate the essence of what each would consider freedom to be. So for
the purposes of describing how Mill and Nietzsche intersect, this approximation of a

Jesus Used Parables to Tell the Truth Abou the Kingdom of God
Jesus was famous for telling parables. Throughout his life on earth he told more than forty of them.
A parable by definition is a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth,
religious principle, or moral lesson. (Harper) When you hear the story, you can relate it to your own
life. It is like an illustration for the points in a sermon. It conveys its message of truth through
analogy, through comparison or contrast. Jesusspoke to the people in this manner for a few distinct
reasons. Parables are told to reveal the truths about the kingdom of God. To be revealed in a manner
in which only those who truly care will come to know. By doing so Jesus was able to separate the
audience into two groups, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was now alone with the disciples when they wanted to know why he spoke in these parables.
This passage can be confusing at first glance. It sounds like Jesus is stating that he intentionally
uses parables so that he can reach out to some and not others. At this point the crowds who came
for miracles are also full of skeptics, critics, and enemies. This group would hear his words, but
then refuse to really listen to the message. They saw great acts of power, but would refuse to
believe that Jesus is from God. The true meaning of this passage is that only those open to his
teaching, would more understanding be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But
to those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from
them. Speaking in parables allowed Jesus to conceal the power and radical claims of his
Kingdom from those who will not believe and do not seek the truth. At same the time, his stories
reveal the powerful message of God s Kingdom to the hearts of those seeking truth and following
Jesus. He could and would continue to minister to the crowds, but no longer try to teach them
because they would refuse to listen. Their inability to penetrate to the meaning of Jesus and his
mission is the result of their obstinate disbelief and dullness of heart, as Isaiah had prophesied
(13:10 15).
In the book of Mark, Jesus goes on to warn us that If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.

The American Dream in August WilsonВґs Play The Piano Lesson
A recurring theme in American history has been that of the American Dream, the idea that anyone,
regardless of race, can achieve success through hard work. In his stirring 1990 play The Piano
Lesson, August Wilson uses African American characters to embody the American Dream.
Throughout the play, set in Pittsburgh in 1936, Wilson traces the economic successes of several
African American characters, such as Boy Willie and Lymon. However, Wilson s portrayal of this
apparent progress conflicts with the true historical setting. The reality between 1877 and the 1930s
was that social barriers, such as Jim Crow lawsand sharecropping, precluded economic progress
for most African Americans. A few black Americans such as Madam Walker, an Indiana
businesswoman, made some progress, but in general there was stagnation in terms of pecuniary
growth during this time period. August Wilson s interpretation of African American economic
progress through fictional characters in The Piano Lesson is flawed because it represents a few
economically successful African Americans of the time, but fails to capture the lack of progress
made by the majority between 1877 and 1930. Most African Americans were unable to make
economic progress because of de jure and de facto social barriers during that period. In a
flashback from the play, the fictional Lymon Jackson was about to earn money by hauling wood,
but was ruined when the sheriff got [him], [said he] was stealing wood, and fined [him] a

I have often been asked by architecture students and professionals visiting Chandigarh on how it
feels having grown up and educated from this city a single stroke, paradigm shifting undertaking by
the father of modernism himself. I reply with an inherently paradoxical answer. While on one hand
it has served as a major source of my exposure towards architecture and urbanism, alongside shaping
my perception and critique of urbanity, it has also engendered in me a curiosity towards the other ,
the traditional, emergent and incremental forms of urbanism prevalent all over the Indian sub
continent.

I took advantage of the opportunities provided during my undergraduate career to appraise the
present performance of the city against the conceived, modernist planning ideals. In an assignment
for the urban design class, I investigated the image of the city as perceived by the largely illiterate
rickshaw pullers, which navigate through it on a daily basis. It helped me to learn how the
vocabulary of nodes and landmarks synonymous with traditional towns, still continues to be used
by them. I illustrated this by drawing sector maps using Lynch s taxonomy of urban elements. For
a national competition to design a people s mall, I looked into the supply chains and networks
across the city, which transform sliver spaces within its formal fabric, appropriated by informal
vendors and hawkers. Each sector, devised as homogeneous, self sufficient neighborhood units, now
specializes in various resources leading to a differential development of the uniform grid layout.
In my final thesis project, I researched on Chandigarh s gridlocked, urbanized villages which
emerged as by products of the rational planning, juxtaposing contrasting forms of urbanism. A
British filmmaker once dubbed them as subaltern subversions of the grid, whereas a nuanced
investigation revealed how the existing form and pattern critiques the extended family
neighborhoods of the pre existing agrarian settlement. In my

Analysis Of Staying Awake By Ursula Le Guin
Many students in today s world are becoming lazy. As time is there, students find ways to cheat,

she emphasizes the various forms that reading is integrated in the modern world, when it really

Friar Tuck
1 Project Overview In this paper we will examine the process that Friar Tucker used to decide
which project to implement that best supported their organizational goals. We will also use similar
techniques to create a simple strategic plan outline to be used to guide us on a personal project.
According to the simulation, All projects that an organization undertakes are linked to the
organization s strategic plan. This entails the development of a process by which projects are
selected based on their relevance to the strategic plan (Wideman, 1999). This of course is much
easier said then done. However after completing the first step of the project by insuring that the
project is necessary and pertains to the organizational mission... Show more content on

Who will do the work? Are there any building permits that are needed? What do you do with the
old fence marital? Are there any government programs that can be used to assist in paying for
this project? Which way is the smooth side of the fence going to face? Yes, there are a lot of
questions that must be answered and a great deal to think about so let s get started with the
obvious... talking to the neighbor. After doing some basic cost analysis, (cost of supplies,
workers vs. self instillation, and time) a tentative agreement was reached to share the cost and a
work assignment was reached. One member of this new team will price the materials, call for
building permit information, and inquire into pre packaged fence designs that may be at this
fledgling team s disposal. The other member of this team will inquire about government
programs that may be available, cost of workers, and old fence material disposal information.
Normally, when creating a project there is a structured formula that a project manager will use
through each stage of the project. From the project intention stage, to getting the project off the
ground, and eventually reviewing the final processes stage and making adjustments as needed
before stepping back to see the work that has been done. In our small project all of the steps may
not be necessary, but most will be utilized even in some small way. The process should go a bit like
this: The Project Initiation Stage is concerned with taking these

when it comes to black men in America? Is this a from of self destruction?
Although it is clear that black on black crimes exist, in the United States we have a long history of
white on black crimes. November 25, 2006, Sean Bell was hot and killed on the morning after
his bachelor party, and two of his friends where severely wounded. Mr. Bell was holding his
bachelor party at Club Kalua in Jamaica section of Queens, New York. This night club was under
investigated by seven undercover police detectives, as a result of accusations that the owners of
the club had been fostering prostitution (Baker, P16).. According to Report Karen Zraizk of the
New York Times, Guzman had an argument inside the club with a woman and threatened to get a

that a shooting might occur, one of the plain clothed African Americanofficer Gescard Isnora

The Principle Of Social Justice And Advocacy Support...
Introduction
A culturally safe care is defined as what is felt or experienced by a patient when a healthcare
provider communicates with the patient... (Bickford, 2015). Social justice lists the rights of all
people in our community which are to consider to be fair and equitable (Social Justice Principles,
2003). These rights are justified through equity, fairness and equality in marginalized groups of
society that can be visualized in the healthcare system. The basic principles of social justice, which
promotes safe care, are as follows: equity, access, participation and rights (Social Justice
Principles, 2003). Social advocacy plays a vital role to help nurses promote safe care by
safeguarding patient autonomy, acting on behalf of patient, and championing social justice
(Mackey, 2015). The following paper will describe how the principle of social justice and
advocacy support culturally safe care regarding the Aboriginal people and women in Canada.
Social Determinants
To understand cultural safe care is therefore important to understand the history of oneself. The
authors explain in the article Cultural Safety (BrascoupГ© Waters, 2009) that cultural safe care is
the concept to express an approach to the health care that recognizes the contemporary conditions of
aboriginal people which results from their post contact history (Pp 6). The past history of
Aboriginal people of Canada illustrates that the First Nations have gone through a lot of trauma
such as colonization

Marriage Is A Problem Based On Stereotypes And Unrealistic...
Marriages and Scripts
Marriage is a concept that few people really understand and most underestimate. With the last four
scripts it is clear that, marriage is a problem based on stereotypes and unrealistic expectations.
While reading the last plays, Dolls House,Who s Afraid of Virgina Woolf, Fences, and Disgraced
there is one clear correlation between them all, crumbling marriages. There is this foreign concept
that people may not even have to like their partner in the beginning, but later on in marriage they
will soon love them. This idea is false, however, as it is clear that during life two partners become
dependent on each other, and this coziness is conceived as love. Furthermore, they then get so used
to marriage and each other that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What I did find remarkable was Nora and her strength to leave her husband and children. Unlike
the other pieces Dolls House focuses more on children and the effect they have on a married couple.
Children are generally thought of as making marriage more valuable to the spouses, as they
represent a long term commitment (that can be seen also as a form of long term investment in the
marriage relationship) which may reinforce marriage stability. On the other hand, children may
bring about marital conflict by affecting dramatically the household allocation of time and money
and contributing a degree of uncertainty, as children s preferences and behavior are not known to
parents ex ante. (Bellido).
In this marriage, much like Troy and Rose in Fences, having children broke this marriage. It
would have been easier to stay for Nora if it was not a constant reminder that she would be the
corruption in her children, and the overwhelming fear that she would be the cause of their
downfall. It is brought up several times the conflict of leaving her children or staying and being a
mother they do not deserve. She is constantly thinking about this through the second half, but she
does not worry about Torvald. She even states that she does not love him and was only there
because it was her duty as a woman to marry a rich man, and have his children. That was the
problem that the pieces face, no matter what time period, forcing love only seems to be

The Nervous System, By Caroline Bunker Rosdahl
The nervous system, according to Caroline Bunker Rosdahl, takes what we learn from the outside
world and stores the information selectively in our memory to refer back to and to apply to other
aspects of our lives. The nervous system also coordinates messages from the internal body systems
so that the body can readjust certain internal environments and external environments constantly.
The nervous systemis set up to send messages to a certain part of the body, and the nerves are the
wires that carry out the incoming and outgoing information throughout the body. (Rosdahl,
Textbook of Basic Nursing Seventh Edition)
The main two functions of the nervous system include communication and control. A few examples
of the communication include responding to danger, pain, and also to respond to conscious
decisions and thoughts. Two types of cells within the nervous system include the neuron and the
neuroglia. A neurons specialty is responding to chemical and physical stimuli. Messages are
conducted and transferred throughout the neurons. The neuroglia support and connect the nervous
tissue, but they do not transmit any impulses. The brain and the spinal cord are included in the
central nervous system. The thalamus is what is responsible for ones moods and strong emotions,
while the hypothalamus is what is responsible for many body functions like thirst, hunger,
swallowing, and also urination. There are four cerebral lobes: frontal, parietal, temporal, and
occipital. The frontal lobe

Example Of Socio-Affective Strategies
Tarone (1980) points out that learning strategies can be conscious and behavioral (e.g.
memorization or repetition with the purpose of remembering) or they can be sub conscious and
psycholinguistic (e.g. inferring or overgeneralization) (cited in Ellis,1985; p.13). In other words,
learners employ learning strategies consciously or sub consciously. On the contrary, Cohen (1998),
states that learningprocesses are selected consciously by the learners. Likewise, Wenden (1987)
defines learning strategies as a language behavior that learners employ in the language learning
process consciously.
In order to describe the second language learning process, as Ellis (1985, p.165) says the process
includes using second language knowledge which is composed of production and ... Show more

Through these strategies learners are able to manipulate their own cognition, coordinate, plan,
organize and evaluate the learning process. Some processes which are related to metacognitive
strategies are the strategies of advanced preparation, self monitoring, delayed production, Self
evaluation and self reinforcement.
3.Socio Affective Strategies
Socio affective strategies are related to the appropriate behaviours of the learner in communicating
with others around them. Some of these strategies are asking questions, clarifying social roles and
relationships, or co operating with others in order to complete the tasks. Socio affective strategies
also help students overcome their emotional, psychological and social problems such as reducing
anxiety and apprehension.
The main goal of using language learning strategies are to help learners improve their knowledge
and understanding of the target language. They are the conscious thoughts and behaviours used by
students to facilitate language learning tasks and to personalize the language learning

Critical Analysis Paper #1

Patriot s vs. People s Howard Zinn s, Peoples History of the US and Larry Schweikart s, Patriots
History of the US are two analytical views on history that most people would consider politically
conflicting. Zinn s Marxist book was widely praised by liberal activist and Schweikart s book is
greatly publicized by conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. These two widely
known historians turned their focus on writing two historical pieces that would fill in the
historical holes that weren t being taught in the educational systems. It created a type of diverse
learning that made for a great argument while still allowing the readers to understand all sides
of the topics at hand. Zinn really dismissed the common white mans history and focused his
approach on a multiple minority perspective. Schweikart s book is very different in the sense he
takes aim at Zinn as he targets words like great discovery and war on terror which Zinn only used
as scare quotes. Schweikart s book really reads like old history textbooks from the moral principals
of the American founders that built this nation to the ideological view of American prosperity. No
matter who shares the views of the political perspectives or condemns them because of its bias
stances both historians felt responsible in writing the history of the United States.
Zinn did not believe in an unbiased approach to history

department can be home to over 10 different modalities, some of which include X ray, Computed

The largest of these categories is CT based diagnosis in adults, but the category that has seen the
most increase is diagnosis in pediatrics and adult screenings. The growth of CT use in children
has been mostly in pre surgical diagnosis of appendicitis and is primarily due to the decreasing in
time needed to perform a scan. The shorter exposure times reduce the need for anesthesia to stop a
child from moving while the image is being taken. A large portion of the increase in scanning for
adults probably comes from the new CT based screening programs for asymptomatic patients. The
four areas attracting the most interest are CT colonography, lung screening for smokers, cardiac
screening, and whole body

To make the circuit cold , what do you need to do? WHY?
Answer:
To make the circuit cold we have to adjust the voltage, because the v is proportional to i the current,
which is proportional to the temperature.

Answer:
The higher the voltage, the hotter the temperature will be.

Resistance in a Wire :
1. In this sim, what variables are you seeing? Write the formula below, and indicate the units used to
measure each one.
Answer:
The variables been shown in the simulater are the voltage, current, and ressistance. V(volts) =
I(Ampers)* R(Ohms).
2. Try increasing the resistivity of the resistor, ПЃ.How does this change the look of the resistor?
Describe how that relates to the formula you just wrote (direct, indirect relationships, etc.). What
happens to the value of R (Resistance)? Is this something that can be changed in a resistor that you
would buy in a store to use in a circuit?
Answer:
Increasing the resistivity the resistor gets bigger, which directly effects the current by making it
smaller. Indirectly the voltage to push the current through has to be stronger to push the current
through. The value of R gets larger, you can change the resistance, but you would have to change
out the resistor element to do this.

Medicine And Placebos Pills Treat Migraine Headaches
Placebos are used as a form of treatment for patients; placebos offer no medication but seem to
relieve patents of the pain and symptoms they have (Seymour, 2011). Medication has down sides,
such as creating drug dependencies and increased tolerance for the drug resulting in a decrease in
the amount of success that drug has to treat the pain. Placebos offer a medicine free treatment to
help patients deal with pain. Many studies have been done to examine the difference between
medicine and placebos pills to treat migraineheadaches. Placebos have been found to have similar
pain relieving effects to medicine, without the harmful risks the medication has (Seymour, 2011).
Title
Placebos were first introduced into the medical world in the late 18th century (Seymour, 2011).
Placebos are used as a therapeutic procedure that affects a patient and removes symptoms of an
illness or pain by giving them a sham pill with no actual medication in it (Seymour, 2011). A
placebo effect is therefore a change in the patient s symptoms or illness after a placebo is given
(Seymour, 2011). A nocebo on the other hand, is the negative equivalent of the placebo effect; when
a patient expects a negative outcome of a treatment he or she will experience the undesirable
outcome that was expected (Benedetti, Durando, Vighetti, 2014). Both placebo and nocebo effects
can be provoked by observing others, which causes the release of several neurotransmitters, such as

Conclusion:
The hypothesis stated was proven correct. It was hypothesized that if the distance between a light
source and a thermometer increases, then the temperature decreases. For the experiment, four
thermometers were placed 20 centimeters, 40 centimeters, 60 centimeters, and 80 centimeters away
from a lamp. The temperature of every thermometer was recorded at every minute for 10 minutes.
The data collected from the lab supports the hypothesis stated. At the beginning of the experiment,
the temperature of every thermometer at 0 minutes was between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius.

Knowing that the closer an object is to a heat source the greater its temperature is, data from the
last experiment can be used to form a hypothesis for the second part of the lab. In the next
experiment, a heat source would be on for 10 minutes and a prediction would be made for which
distance from the source would hit 28 degrees Celsius after 10 minutes. The hypothesis stated was
proven correct. It was hypothesized that if after 10 minutes a target temperature of 28 degrees
Celsius had to be reached, then it would be reached at 30 centimeters away from the heat source.
This is because the data from the first experiment stated that at 10 minutes, the thermometer 20
centimeters away from the lamp read 34 degrees Celsius, and the thermometer 40 centimeters away
from the lamp read 27 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the hypothesis was based on the data from the
first experiment. The data collected from the second experiment supported the hypothesis stated.
Before the lamp was turned on, the thermometer read 20 degrees Celsius. It was placed 30
centimeters away from the lamp. At 5 minutes, the thermometer read 28 degrees Celsius. At 10
minutes, the thermometer read 28 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the

Effects of Restrictive Contraceptive Legislation on Unintentional Teenage Pregnancy
Danielle Assibu Gilmore
Frontier Nursing University
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of restrictive contraceptive legislation on
unintended teenage pregnancy. Teenage pregnancyhas declined steadily over the past 40 years,
however in the past decade the rate of pregnancy among adolescents is rising. Restrictive
contraceptive legislation such as abstinence only education, mandatory waiting periods, parental
notification laws, or Medicaid funding restrictions could all play a part in the increase of pregnancy
in teenagers. One study found funding for abstinence only education programs were linked to
increased birth rates among black and white adolescents (Yang Gaydos, 2010). Another study found
restrictive contraceptive legislation resulted in higher unintended pregnancy rates among
adolescents. The implication of this review is state and federal policies should focus on improving
education regarding contraception use and forming policies which improve access to abortion.
Keywords: teenage pregnancy, unintended pregnancy, contraception legislation
Effects of Restrictive Contraceptive Legislation on Unintentional Teenage Pregnancy Legislation
dictates the degree of access teenagers have to contraception and in the event of pregnancy,
termination services. It is therefore important to understand the impact of legislation on the
occurrence of unintended

What I Learned About Anthropology And Learned Valuable...
I had the pleasure of interviewing two accomplished and fascinating applied anthropologists. I
chose these two anthropologists not only because Dr. Wallace recommended them, but also
because they work in my fields of interest. The first interview I conducted was anthropologist Dr.
Jason Lind, he is currently a qualitative health researcher for the prestigious Veterans Association.
The second interview I had was with anthropologist Dr. Kathryn Kozaitis, she is currently a
professor and chair at Georgia State University. Throughout the process of both interviews Dr.
Jason Lind and Dr. Kathryn Kozaitis give me an inside look at applied anthropologyand provide me
with advice as I continue my college career. Both interviews helped me gain a better
understanding of applied anthropology and learned valuable lessons. I asked both anthropologists
the same questions because I wanted to see if there were any major differences in their answers.
Surprisingly, they both had similar answers to most of the questions. I asked them questions about
the differences between applied and non applied research in anthropology, their job satisfaction,
background data, ethical issues, key skills for an anthropologist, and their recommendations for me
and others who want to pursue a career as an anthropologist. I found it especially interesting that
both Dr. Lind and Dr. Kozaitis come from different backgrounds but are both united by the same
principles and share a lot of the same interests.

Slavery In Central America
Slavery had an effect on the world as we know it today for many differnet reasons. African
American slaves were considered the prime slave workers during the time of the atlantic world and
this caused African slaves to live a very brutal and unequal life to this day. When the english settled
in the Americas, work had needed to be done to survive. So with so much land, farming seemed to
be the best option. The best farming grounds were in central america, the only problem is the

in the journey. When slaves arrived in the new land, they had brought with them simple things
such as music, culture, and religion. Once slaves arrived at the new world they were auctioned
off the the highest bidder. The number of slaves to choose from was a large amount. To get a

The first time fingerprint comparison evidence was used in court against a defendant was in 1892

For purposes of forensic identification in cases of law enforcement and other areas where human
identification is needed, fingerprints have been widely acclaimed to be of an invaluable
importance and has therefore seen a close to unanimous acceptance as the gold standard of forensic
evidence where biometric identity is concerned. Recently however, as was rarely done in times
past, the scientific foundations of fingerprint expert testimonies in court are beginning to be
challenged [2]. There are some commentators who now query the scientific validity of forensic

These methods hopefully can be used to introduce some quantitative statistical measures to the
fingerprint evidence.
Before going into comparing both proposed statistical approaches, it would seem appropriate to
take a brief look at the ACE V method of fingerprint evidence analysis in the next section, to
highlight areas where these proposed methods have advantages over it.
2.A brief description of the ACE V Method
In ACE V, A stands for Analysis, C stands for Comparison, E represents Evaluation and V is for
Verification. These are the various stages involved in the examination of fingerprint evidence by
experts in the field before arriving at a conclusion on a set of prints which can be in any of these
three conclusions viz: Exclusion, Individuation, or Inconclusive.
2.1The Analysis stage
This stage begins when the fingerprint expert examines a latent print and first makes a decision as
to whether it contains details that are sufficient quantitatively and qualitatively to exceed the Value
threshold standard. If in his estimation the print does exceed the quality and quantity Value
standard, then he continues with the analysis.[1] According to [4], most of the prints recovered
from crime scenes are considered of no value.
2.2The Comparison stage.
The fingerprint expert for the first time looks at the suspect s 10 fingerprints (the exemplar

Child Labor And The United States
When one hears the term Child Labor , an image of children making low quality clothing in some
dingy third world sweatshop inevitably comes to mind. While this imagery is unfortunately
founded in fact, the third world is not the only area complicit with this heinous practice.
Truthfully, we, as a nation are also guilty of propagating this heinous practice. For over a century,
this nation s youth were subjugated to exploitation and abuse at the hands of captains of industry
in the hopes of extracting every ounce of profit they could. Fortunately, sympathetic individuals
recognized the children s need for advocacy and rose to their defense in the form of organized
dissent that appealed to the highest powers of this country to fight for those who could not fight
for themselves. In this paper, we will look at what exactly child laboris, the circumstances that gave
rise to the widespread acceptance of child labor usage, what working condition these children
experienced, and how the United Stateseventually made its use illegal.
What is Child Labor?
Child labor is historically defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential
and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development (Hansan, 2013). Legally,
to be considered child labor, work must involve at least one of the following characteristics:
1.Violates a nation s minimum age laws
2.Threatens children s physical, mental or emotional well being
3.Involves intolerable

that nothing will happen. When and if there is a slight belief that one is infected with AIDS,
Bahamians tend to hesitate to get tested or treated because of appearances. However, as research,

irresponsible engagement in sexual activity which has led to the dangerous AIDS epidemic.
After interviewing Ms. Sandra Smith, age 21, it was found that she was a prime example of a
young Bahamian engaging in reckless unprotected sex adding to the AIDS epidemic. Ms. Smith

Build Up of Suspense in the movie Jaws Essay
Build Up of Suspense in the movie Jaws
The film Jaws has been directed and produced in 1975 by Steven Spielberg. It is about a police
chief that has been assigned to a hot resort on one of New England Coast s beaches. His job is to
make sure that the killer shark, which has already eaten a person in this area, does not have a
chance to attack again.
The film is set on the 4th of July because it is a national holiday in America The Independence

After the attack and the disturbing music the dead silence came. This is to highlight the fact that
the girl has been killed in a very brutal and painful way and that nobody could help her, even if they
wanted to. It also tells the audience that the shark is creepy, awful and unstoppable. This shark
characterisation helped the director to build tension more effectively before the future attacks.
Just like silence, music can also be used to scare the audience. An example of this is the loudness
of the theme tune increasing as the shark is getting closer to its prey. It tells us that the attack is
about to begin and lets us know that the person attacked will die, we know that he or she could not
survive as previous victims had not survived.
In the second attack a lot of camera techniques have been used to help build tension and scare the
audience. The scene began with a straight, long shot of a 10 year old boy, Alex, going to his
mother to ask for more time in the water. The straight shot was used to show equality, to make the
audience feel as they are in the same place with all tourists on the beach. This did not build any
tension because nothing was going to happen at that point. The audience might wonder why so
much time is spent with Alex, why we are continously focused on him, not on any of the other boys

biophilia. Necrophilia can be defined as the love of death and biophilia can be defined as the
love of life. Human character is dominated by both forces, but it is important to identify which of
these forces plays a dominant role. The dominant role dictates the relational life one has with the
world. The class of people one can associate with necrophiliacs are members of violent gangs.
Members of violent gangs thrive on the love of death, and this poses a great threat to a human
society that strives to be good. Gangs are built on the basis of loyalty. Membership in violent gang
hinges on one commonality, that is, lack of positive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fromm sees the perfect individual through his personal experiences. Fromm believed that the
world wars were manipulated by political leaders to rob individual of his ability to think for
himself. ( Fromm, 329) The main problem with Fromm is that his emphasis to attain nature of
conformity is accomplished through physical acts. For example, Fromm shows this logic in his
essay Individual in the chains of illusion. In this essay, he iterates his problem with the United
Nations and how this organization leads him to think about the concept of one world. Fromm
explains that he actually sees a unified individual who transcends the limits of one s nation and
treats every human beings as a neighbor. Fromm sees non conformity in a person who
accomplishes individuality through his singularity in behavior and thought. However, the
similarities outweigh the differences in both ideologies. Fromm and Emerson both advocate that
the individual is a conformist when one is subsumed under a organization. They claim that the
role of an non conformist is to clash with society and their rules. Fromm and Emerson were
fascinated by thinkers who freed themselves from organized societies . The main problem with
their philosophy is that if all of human race was non conforming to society, the world would be
destroyed. Laws were created to promote order and create a balance for the non conformer. If there
was no balance in the

Title: Facts about Panda Bears and reasons they are endangered
What is furry, cute and black, and white all over? You can probably guess in 3 chances, the panda
bear. If you are like me, you have watched several videos online and have been curious how the
panda bear survives in the wild. Also, you may have wondered why this loveable looking bear is
on the endangered specie list.
The Diet of a Panda Bear
If you ever wondered what panda s eat, you, will probably rarely seem them eating other animals.
Their main diet is the consumption of bamboo. Actually, 99 percent of the diet is bamboo. The
other 1 percent is very small animals, such as, small rodents, fish, flora and eggs. Although, they ...

The large male panda s can get up to 250 pounds, and be 2 feet long. The male panda s are indeed
larger than the females. These bears can live up to 20 years in the wild. Even though, there are
environmental conflicts that are reducing their lifespan.
Reasons for the Decline of the Panda Bear
Unfortunately, for the panda bear they are on a endangered list. There are several reasons that it
is difficult for the survival of these bears. The females can ovulate during the Spring time, which
becomes a very small window for growth. They are literally only able to ovulate 2 3 days a year.
That s right. So, this is already a challenge for them. Plus, the female panda can only give birth to 2
and 1 usually dies.
They are approximately 1,600 panda bears that live in the wild all over the world. However, there
are more panda s in China than anywhere else. With this being said, and China s continual growth,
this, causes destruction to the panda s habitat. China uses bamboo for construction and therefore,
removes the main source of food for the panda bear.
The Panda is a Symbol of Peace in

The Future Major And Potential Minors
In the past three weeks, I interviewed three full time faculty members across three different
disciplines. The primary goals of this assignment were to explore a variety of disciplines in order to
better understand your future major and potential minors and to introduce yourself to professors
from those fields.
Dr. Carenen, a history professor, originally intended to be a lawyer, but fell in love with history
as soon as she started taking upper history level classes. She went on to earn her PhD in European
History and then worked in the publishing industry before getting her PhD in American History.
She then decided to become a professor because she missed academia and loved to teach. As a
professor in the history department, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Carenen, as a professor, has taken up her own academic researchabout Jewish fundraising
during the First World War, and additionally wrote two books one about Israel called Fervent
Embrace, and another about terrorism. As far as creative activities go, students with history majors
participate in activities such as the History Club, which is planning a trip to Washington DC at this
time, and many of them also compete on the bowling team. Not to mention that global studies field
courses are offered, such as the trip to Israel, Jordan, and Palestine that will be taken this upcoming
spring. Finally, after graduation, students often attain careers as diplomats, lawyers, professors,
business analysts, etc. Graduate school is advised in most circumstances before heading off to
work. There, strong language and research skills and good relationships with professors are all
looked at.
Another faculty member, Dr. Brown of the economics department, also received the same interview
questions. She was initially a business administration major in college, but since she enjoyed math
as well, she was told to consider economics where the two fields would be more or less combined.
She thought that economics was interesting and the problems were challenging, and graduated as
an economics major before pursuing her PhD to become an economics professor. In this
department, students learn about

A Report On The Show Stoppers
In light of the facts provided the show stoppers that stem to mind are in relation to the dismissal of
the underwriter from the syndicate; depth of analyst research; low expense ratio; and timing.
Ordinarily, where an underwriter is involved in a public or private offering the importance of
undertaking a proper due diligenceis paramount as it provides a complete defense, against a strict
liability, under section 11 and 12 of the Securities Act 1933.
There isn t enough time to ensure enough is done to establish due diligence defence, and as for the
low expense ratio in comparison to the industry this would be the primary show stopper, in
conjunction with the timing of dismissal of the other underwriter, and heightened liability exposure
risk section 11 and 12 of the Securities Act 1933. Summarily, where the low expense ratio red flag
is concerned the court in WorldCom (discussed further below) mentioned that a jury would entitled
to find the discrepancy sufficient to have a triggered a duty to investigate the reliability of the
figures underlying the ratio, notwithstanding that those figures had been audited. It would not be
foreseeable for the client to undertake this process within the 72 hours available, and avail itself of
the due diligence defense.
Further Analysis: due diligence
Given that the issuer is a WKSi, there is a heightened due diligence risk where the offering is a
shelf registration. The SEC did not intend that Rule 176 alter the fundamental nature

  • 2. The Supply And Demand Market Essay The supply and demand market is a way for companies to control cost and work with their suppliers to create a supply line that provides the materials for their products; to produce their products at a cost that will allow them to price and sell it to consumers and make a profit. In the supply and demand market Honda started out using the fixed factory model that has allowed Honda to go from importing motorbikes to the United States to making automobiles in the United States as well as some of their other products. Hondas supply line started in Japan and has expanded all over the world in almost every country in the world by making the products they sell in their different factories. Honda motor company operates 31 different facilities in the United States alone to manufacture their products using domestic and globally sourced parts. (world.honda.com/news /2015) With Honda expanding their supply chain in different countries they have been able to cut down on the importing and exporting of their products made by the Honda Motor Company. With Honda being started in 1964 they have transitioned from not only making motorbikes to making automobiles, all terrain vehicles, jets, lawn equipment, motor sports, and power equipment and with the increase of products their supply chain has changed. Honda started out in Japan with one factory making motorbikes then it progressed into a company that made automobiles in the same factory in the supply and demandmarket Honda has gone from ... Information Security Threats The problem experienced by the Wayward Pines Public Library of having one of their public access computers (PAC) becoming a zombie member of a Botnet army is not an isolated one. As mentioned by Kim Zetter (2015), Botnets have been around for more than a decade and have become one of the most popular methods attackers use to hijack machines and make quick money. The securityindustry estimates that botnets, over time, have resulted in more than $110 billion in losses to victims globally. An estimated 500 million computers fall prey to botnet attackers annually, which comes down to about 18 victims infected per second. Hough, p. 21) Finally, the deployment of a firewall configured to use PAT will ensure the computers will use internal private IP addresses which will be translated to one external public IP address. This essentially hides the entire internal IP address space behind the single external IP address. (F. Semperboni, 2013) Using this model will allow the library to need one external IP address provided by the ISP, allowing the return of the other 19 unused IP addresses. Therefore, the library will only be billed for the signal IP address, saving them money. Additionally, the firewall should use the statful examination of the traffic entering in thru the external interface on its way out of the internal interfaces. If the traffic meets particular states that the firewall has identified as being acceptable then, it allows the traffic to continue and drops those that do not. These types of firewalls are the first and primary line of defense for most organizations and provide better performance over other types of firewalls. (Tim Boyles, 2010, p. ... • 6. Globalization Is The Increasing Inter Connectedness Of... 1. Globalization is defined in the book as the increasing inter connectedness of people and places through converging economic, political, and cultural activities. Cultures and countries are now linked much more than they used to be in the past as technology continues to grow. It s becoming cheaper and easier to set up technology in lesser developed countries as well as that it continues to grow in more developed countries. Fast food restaurants are now changing and transferring to other countries and changing the menu to the culture of that country in an attempt to make more money. These restaurants from America transferring to other countries are causing diets to become unhealthy much as they have in America. Most American s don t go a week without eating at some fast food restaurant. Western consumerist culture has also transferred. America is absolutely infatuated with spending to get what they think they need when in actuality they don t. Most scholars believe that economic organization is a large part of globalization. It includes global communications that link all people. It also includes better transportation systems, transnational business strategies, and promotion of free trade. There are many positives to globalization. One of which is more money being put into lesser developed countries. This is a plus because this causes people in those countries to be able to succeed and support themselves. Also governments of different countries can better work together ... • 7. The Health Care Industry Of Colorado I would like to bring an important matter to your attention that is not only affecting the health of the citizens of Colorado, but is incurring significant cost to the local government and risk to the health care industry in this state. The health care industry in Colorado is experiencing challenging issues with sharing vital health care information between affiliated and unaffiliated medical practice providers. Hokenstrom indicates that as patients tend to move between specialty providers it is not uncommon that their health information can become lost in transit or forgotten originating facility. This inability to share information frequently results in duplication of efforts and cost to the patient. Not only does this impede efficient and timely care, but carries a high degree of risk to the patient. In sum, there are solutions to help resolve these issues. Dr. Mendelson, Dr. Bak, Dr. Menschik, and Dr. Siegel have expressed in their research on Imaging Informatics that barriers to internet transfer of information remain a constant concern, however, surmounting these concerns is not unattainable. The University of Chicago issued a study of five states who worked together to extend their Health Information Exchange (HIE) program in a collaborative effort to share data between Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Montana, and Oregon. There were several common challenges identified to include: 1) limited understanding of HIE; 2) sustainability of the program; and 3) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Emergence Of Applicant Tracking Systems ( Ats ) The emergence of applicant tracking systems (ATS) has gained a reputation beginning early in the new millennium. The use of ATS gives companies a method to manage a mass amount of candidate data and causes the job seeker to do more work. The main characteristic of ATS is the piece that selects resumes for further review. This can be a standalone system or module within a human resources management system. Two of the larger ATS is Taleo which is an Oracle company and Kenexa which is a part of IBM. Likewise, there are screeners who consider cover letters in their evaluations and those who ignore them. Career experts suggest erring on the side of caution. Submit a carefully written cover letter and insert keywords must have qualifications usually found in the job posting with every application. Job hunters should expect to wait anywhere from a few days to several weeks before receiving a response to an application, if at all. (Needleman). The system will look for those words to determine who moves forward in the process. However, newer technology analyzes the words and looks for context and relevance and can check where in someone s work history a skill was used. These techniques make it harder to manipulate the system. Such tricks like filling your resume with keywords in white font so people can t read it will not work with later technology. Resumes posted in applicant tracking systems are seen by two viewers: the computer, then hopefully a human. The resume has to perform well in the ATS, and then when it is presented to a hiring manager it has to look good. Social media has changed the way businesses work and recruit for new employees. • 11. Prejudice In The 12 Angry Men Prejudice is something that every one has experienced or seen in other people. In the film The 12 Angry Men, the 12 jurors are ready to send a young man to the execution chair for the murder of his father. 11 of the twelve men vote that the boy is guilty but juror number 8 votes not guilty. This man was able to see passed his prejudices while the other men are seemly blinded by them. You can t dwell on what might have been... and it s not fair to condemn him for something he hasn t done. ( Wendelin van Draanen) In the 1957 MGM film twelve angry men, the jurors reveal their prejudices through their beliefs, words and attitude. A great example of how peoples beliefs can influence the way they think about other people. The jurornumber 11 sees the young manas still a child and in the men s eyes all children are born as liars. They are incapable of telling the truth and therefore the boywould have had to kill his father and didn t go to the movies that night during the murder like he said. This is backed up by juror number 4 who says that the boy couldn t seem to remember the movie he saw or the actors that stared in the film. If he couldn t remember that the movie then he must be lying about seeing the movie. But juror number 8 proves that not everyone can remember every little fact about every movie. • 12. Osama Bin Laden, A Powerful Leader Osama bin Laden is a powerful influential leader to his followers. He also has significance approaches to them as well. Bin laden created a new group in 1988 called al Qaeda ( the base ) to where it would focus on a symbolic act of terrorism instead of military campaign. A year later in 1989 the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan, soon after that bin laden returned to Saudi Arabia to step up fundraising for the new and more complicated mission (History.com 2009). The pro Western Saudi royal family feared that bin Laden s fiery pan Islamist rhetoric might cause trouble in the kingdom, so they tried to keep him quite as they could. Therefore, the royal family took away his passport and refused to accept his offer to send Afghan Arabs to guard the borders after Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990 (History.com 2009). However, the Saudi royal family did not make it any better when they sought help from the infidel U.S. instead. Since bin Laden was furious about being snubbed by the Saudi royal family, he vowed that it would be al Qaeda, and not the Americans, who would one day; prove to be master of this world. Osama bin Laden kept his promise when he said that al Qaeda would be the master of the world. • 13. How Durkheim Makes A Very Accurate Argument About Suicide Durkheim makes a very accurate argument about suicide and why it happens. There are many reasons why people commit suicide that are other than bad reasons. Everyone tends to think that suicides only happen when a person is feeling upset. But Durkheim makes an argument that suicide can happen even when a person is really happy. There are a lot of factors that can cause a person to commit suicidesuch as feeling upset, not belonging, being too happy, or even just a sudden change in life aspects can cause a person to commit suicide. Changes in the anomie of the population can really affect a person. When it comes to the community having a rise in suicide I would say that it has to do with the sudden rise in the economic state for the member of the community. Since there have been a lot of people that have come into money thee past finical position has changed very dramatically. Durkheim states that when a person experiences a severe change in economic status they seem to lose their minds. They are not able to figure out what to with all of the money therefore conduct into a new life that is very out of there control. They might spend all of the money too quickly and fall into a depression or they might feel that even with all of the money in the world they are not able to really be happy thus leading to suicide as well. Durkheim urges that this is possible both ways when a person loses lots of money or when they come into a lot of money. This can also happen to a person if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Nietzsche And Mill s Ideas Of Freedom Free to Disagree A primary objective of identifying common ground between Nietzsche and Mill s ideas of freedom is to define freedom adequately so that it can be used as a basis for comparison. Each theorist s opinion on what freedom is, however, appears to be fairly distinct. Mill might describe freedom as the absence of constraints to original, individual thought, whereas Nietzsche conceptualizes freedom as continual self overcoming to evolve a more actualized self. Freedom for Nietzsche is overcoming wrong beliefs and creating one s own values, whereas for Mill, freedom is having the leeway to discover one s own values. In effect, Mill focuses on the structural protections or necessities that allow creativity to flourish, and Nietzsche wants to deconstruct those structures that impede that flourishing. Mill emphasizes optimizing the political and social realms, which in theory then provide a safe haven for Nietzsche s intrapsychic or spiritual struggle. Thus, Mill s definition could be described as political whereas Nietzsche s could be understood as transformational. Both strive toward achieving the highest level of individual potential, and both want to support discovery of one s most individualized beliefs. Given that each theorist has such distinct views on the definition itself, however, one needs to extrapolate the essence of what each would consider freedom to be. So for the purposes of describing how Mill and Nietzsche intersect, this approximation of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Jesus Used Parables to Tell the Truth Abou the Kingdom of God Jesus was famous for telling parables. Throughout his life on earth he told more than forty of them. A parable by definition is a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson. (Harper) When you hear the story, you can relate it to your own life. It is like an illustration for the points in a sermon. It conveys its message of truth through analogy, through comparison or contrast. Jesusspoke to the people in this manner for a few distinct reasons. Parables are told to reveal the truths about the kingdom of God. To be revealed in a manner in which only those who truly care will come to know. By doing so Jesus was able to separate the audience into two groups, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was now alone with the disciples when they wanted to know why he spoke in these parables. This passage can be confusing at first glance. It sounds like Jesus is stating that he intentionally uses parables so that he can reach out to some and not others. At this point the crowds who came for miracles are also full of skeptics, critics, and enemies. This group would hear his words, but then refuse to really listen to the message. They saw great acts of power, but would refuse to believe that Jesus is from God. The true meaning of this passage is that only those open to his teaching, would more understanding be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But to those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. Speaking in parables allowed Jesus to conceal the power and radical claims of his Kingdom from those who will not believe and do not seek the truth. At same the time, his stories reveal the powerful message of God s Kingdom to the hearts of those seeking truth and following Jesus. He could and would continue to minister to the crowds, but no longer try to teach them because they would refuse to listen. Their inability to penetrate to the meaning of Jesus and his mission is the result of their obstinate disbelief and dullness of heart, as Isaiah had prophesied (13:10 15). • 18. The American Dream in August WilsonВґs Play The Piano Lesson A recurring theme in American history has been that of the American Dream, the idea that anyone, regardless of race, can achieve success through hard work. In his stirring 1990 play The Piano Lesson, August Wilson uses African American characters to embody the American Dream. Throughout the play, set in Pittsburgh in 1936, Wilson traces the economic successes of several African American characters, such as Boy Willie and Lymon. However, Wilson s portrayal of this apparent progress conflicts with the true historical setting. The reality between 1877 and the 1930s was that social barriers, such as Jim Crow lawsand sharecropping, precluded economic progress for most African Americans. A few black Americans such as Madam Walker, an Indiana businesswoman, made some progress, but in general there was stagnation in terms of pecuniary growth during this time period. August Wilson s interpretation of African American economic progress through fictional characters in The Piano Lesson is flawed because it represents a few economically successful African Americans of the time, but fails to capture the lack of progress made by the majority between 1877 and 1930. Most African Americans were unable to make economic progress because of de jure and de facto social barriers during that period. In a flashback from the play, the fictional Lymon Jackson was about to earn money by hauling wood, but was ruined when the sheriff got [him], [said he] was stealing wood, and fined [him] a ... I took advantage of the opportunities provided during my undergraduate career to appraise the present performance of the city against the conceived, modernist planning ideals. In an assignment for the urban design class, I investigated the image of the city as perceived by the largely illiterate rickshaw pullers, which navigate through it on a daily basis. It helped me to learn how the vocabulary of nodes and landmarks synonymous with traditional towns, still continues to be used by them. I illustrated this by drawing sector maps using Lynch s taxonomy of urban elements. For a national competition to design a people s mall, I looked into the supply chains and networks across the city, which transform sliver spaces within its formal fabric, appropriated by informal vendors and hawkers. Each sector, devised as homogeneous, self sufficient neighborhood units, now specializes in various resources leading to a differential development of the uniform grid layout. In my final thesis project, I researched on Chandigarh s gridlocked, urbanized villages which emerged as by products of the rational planning, juxtaposing contrasting forms of urbanism. A British filmmaker once dubbed them as subaltern subversions of the grid, whereas a nuanced investigation revealed how the existing form and pattern critiques the extended family neighborhoods of the pre existing agrarian settlement. Introduction A culturally safe care is defined as what is felt or experienced by a patient when a healthcare provider communicates with the patient... (Bickford, 2015). Social justice lists the rights of all people in our community which are to consider to be fair and equitable (Social Justice Principles, 2003). These rights are justified through equity, fairness and equality in marginalized groups of society that can be visualized in the healthcare system. The basic principles of social justice, which promotes safe care, are as follows: equity, access, participation and rights (Social Justice Principles, 2003). Social advocacy plays a vital role to help nurses promote safe care by safeguarding patient autonomy, acting on behalf of patient, and championing social justice (Mackey, 2015). The following paper will describe how the principle of social justice and advocacy support culturally safe care regarding the Aboriginal people and women in Canada. Social Determinants To understand cultural safe care is therefore important to understand the history of oneself. The authors explain in the article Cultural Safety (BrascoupГ© Waters, 2009) that cultural safe care is the concept to express an approach to the health care that recognizes the contemporary conditions of aboriginal people which results from their post contact history (Pp 6). With the last four scripts it is clear that, marriage is a problem based on stereotypes and unrealistic expectations. While reading the last plays, Dolls House,Who s Afraid of Virgina Woolf, Fences, and Disgraced there is one clear correlation between them all, crumbling marriages. There is this foreign concept that people may not even have to like their partner in the beginning, but later on in marriage they will soon love them. Unlike the other pieces Dolls House focuses more on children and the effect they have on a married couple. Children are generally thought of as making marriage more valuable to the spouses, as they represent a long term commitment (that can be seen also as a form of long term investment in the marriage relationship) which may reinforce marriage stability. On the other hand, children may bring about marital conflict by affecting dramatically the household allocation of time and money and contributing a degree of uncertainty, as children s preferences and behavior are not known to parents ex ante. (Bellido). In this marriage, much like Troy and Rose in Fences, having children broke this marriage. It would have been easier to stay for Nora if it was not a constant reminder that she would be the corruption in her children, and the overwhelming fear that she would be the cause of their downfall. It is brought up several times the conflict of leaving her children or staying and being a mother they do not deserve. She is constantly thinking about this through the second half, but she does not worry about Torvald. The Nervous System, By Caroline Bunker Rosdahl The nervous system, according to Caroline Bunker Rosdahl, takes what we learn from the outside world and stores the information selectively in our memory to refer back to and to apply to other aspects of our lives. The nervous system also coordinates messages from the internal body systems so that the body can readjust certain internal environments and external environments constantly. The nervous systemis set up to send messages to a certain part of the body, and the nerves are the wires that carry out the incoming and outgoing information throughout the body. (Rosdahl, Textbook of Basic Nursing Seventh Edition) The main two functions of the nervous system include communication and control. A few examples of the communication include responding to danger, pain, and also to respond to conscious decisions and thoughts. Two types of cells within the nervous system include the neuron and the neuroglia. A neurons specialty is responding to chemical and physical stimuli. Messages are conducted and transferred throughout the neurons. The neuroglia support and connect the nervous tissue, but they do not transmit any impulses. The brain and the spinal cord are included in the central nervous system. The thalamus is what is responsible for ones moods and strong emotions, while the hypothalamus is what is responsible for many body functions like thirst, hunger, swallowing, and also urination. Zinn s Marxist book was widely praised by liberal activist and Schweikart s book is greatly publicized by conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. These two widely known historians turned their focus on writing two historical pieces that would fill in the historical holes that weren t being taught in the educational systems. It created a type of diverse learning that made for a great argument while still allowing the readers to understand all sides of the topics at hand. Zinn really dismissed the common white mans history and focused his approach on a multiple minority perspective. Schweikart s book is very different in the sense he takes aim at Zinn as he targets words like great discovery and war on terror which Zinn only used as scare quotes. Schweikart s book really reads like old history textbooks from the moral principals of the American founders that built this nation to the ideological view of American prosperity. Medicine And Placebos Pills Treat Migraine Headaches Placebos are used as a form of treatment for patients; placebos offer no medication but seem to relieve patents of the pain and symptoms they have (Seymour, 2011). Medication has down sides, such as creating drug dependencies and increased tolerance for the drug resulting in a decrease in the amount of success that drug has to treat the pain. Placebos offer a medicine free treatment to help patients deal with pain. Many studies have been done to examine the difference between medicine and placebos pills to treat migraineheadaches. Placebos have been found to have similar pain relieving effects to medicine, without the harmful risks the medication has (Seymour, 2011). A placebo effect is therefore a change in the patient s symptoms or illness after a placebo is given (Seymour, 2011). A nocebo on the other hand, is the negative equivalent of the placebo effect; when a patient expects a negative outcome of a treatment he or she will experience the undesirable outcome that was expected (Benedetti, Durando, Vighetti, 2014). Effects of Restrictive Contraceptive Legislation on Unintentional Teenage Pregnancy Danielle Assibu Gilmore Frontier Nursing University Abstract The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of restrictive contraceptive legislation on unintended teenage pregnancy. Teenage pregnancyhas declined steadily over the past 40 years, however in the past decade the rate of pregnancy among adolescents is rising. Restrictive contraceptive legislation such as abstinence only education, mandatory waiting periods, parental notification laws, or Medicaid funding restrictions could all play a part in the increase of pregnancy in teenagers. One study found funding for abstinence only education programs were linked to increased birth rates among black and white adolescents (Yang Gaydos, 2010). Another study found restrictive contraceptive legislation resulted in higher unintended pregnancy rates among adolescents. The implication of this review is state and federal policies should focus on improving education regarding contraception use and forming policies which improve access to abortion. The primary goals of this assignment were to explore a variety of disciplines in order to better understand your future major and potential minors and to introduce yourself to professors from those fields. A Report On The Show Stoppers In light of the facts provided the show stoppers that stem to mind are in relation to the dismissal of the underwriter from the syndicate; depth of analyst research; low expense ratio; and timing. Ordinarily, where an underwriter is involved in a public or private offering the importance of undertaking a proper due diligenceis paramount as it provides a complete defense, against a strict liability, under section 11 and 12 of the Securities Act 1933. There isn t enough time to ensure enough is done to establish due diligence defence, and as for the low expense ratio in comparison to the industry this would be the primary show stopper, in conjunction with the timing of dismissal of the other underwriter, and heightened liability exposure risk section 11 and 12 of the Securities Act 1933. Summarily, where the low expense ratio red flag is concerned the court in WorldCom (discussed further below) mentioned that a jury would entitled to find the discrepancy sufficient to have a triggered a duty to investigate the reliability of the figures underlying the ratio, notwithstanding that those figures had been audited.
