John F Kennedy s Influence On Government
Many have regarded the American presidency as the most influential position a US citizen can hold.
Since the inauguration of General George Washington, the President of the United States has
expanded the power and overall influence of the office. In becoming increasingly prominent especially
in recent decades, presidents use a variety of tools such as media and public opinion, domestic, or
national security policies to expand that power.
During his presidency, John F. Kennedy utilized the opinions of the media and public to gain traction
in the 1960 general election through the ever increasing usage of the television as well as Kennedy s

Foremost was the President s implementation of a conservative...New Deal (373) 1 in which he
challenged the new deal and formed it to a more conservative liking, focused primarily on feeding the
American people decentralized solutions of state and local governments, rather then federal handouts.
Out of this, a sort of paradox emerged; to reduce federal power, it was necessary to increase
presidential power (373). 1 Out of which came a centralization of management in the White House, or
a more consolidated power within the White House itself in terms of domestic policy decisions.
Branded New Federalism , Nixon started off by issuing executive orders further emphasizing
affirmative action or granting employment, contracting or education on the basis of race or gender
(372) 1 by having the secretary of labor to authorize a compliance of hiring reports, effectively forcing
the hiring of minorities. Next, Nixon would further expand the power of the presidency through
impoundments, or not spending money that has been appropriated thought congress. Unlike Nixon s
predecessors, he did not use the impounded funds to funnel back into the economy; instead, he
actively tried to sabotage governmental agencies such as the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO)
as it did not fit his administrations agenda due to its liberal agenda and war on poverty (377). 1 In this

Children Of Dune Analysis
Children of Dune
Is it wise to save somebody, but harm them in the process. Frank Herbert s Children of Dune explores
this idea. Leto, the boy who will soon be emperor, has a vision of the future in which he believes that
he can save humanity from destruction, but would harm them in the process. He intends to lead
humanity along a Golden Path , but will have readers questioning if he will do more harm than good.
Despite the fact that Leto s intentions are good, he is actually evil.
Leto begins his path to ruling the universe by destroying the changing ecology of Arrakis, the main
planet in the empire. The ecology is being changed so that the planet will be more livable, because it is
brutal desert planet. Tomorrow I ll raid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do this he believes that he must become a tyrant. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the
sand; and he had two horns like a lamb, but his mouth was fanged and fiery as the dragon and his
body shimmered and burned with great heat while it did hiss like the serpent revised Bible (Herbert).
This passage from the revised Bible of Dune is a foreshadowing to Leto rising up as the emperor,
because is is an almost exact description of a sandworm. The natives of the planet worship the
sandworms as a physical representation of God, and Leto makes himself partially sandworm in the
book. Leto does another act of evil by proclaiming himself to be a god. Leto knows that he will be a
brutal ruler, and that it will be hard for humanity to survive. Leto told his father, Paul Your jihad will
be a summer picnic on Caladan by comparison (Herbert). Pauls jihad was a successful attempt to
make his rule absolute, but it caused the death of 61 billion people. Leto understands what his rule will
do, but he will continue anyways. Leto knows he will be a tyrant, and shows that he is evil by
continuing anyways.
Despite being the protagonist of the novel, Leto is really a villain. He believes that by being a tyrant,
he can benefit all of humanity. To him, the billions of deaths, the disruption of a planet s
transformation, and him wanting to be a god show that he is inherently evil. He believes that he can
save humanity by oppressing and harming them. Leto is the true villain of Children of

Inventions Of The Roman Aqueducts In The Ancient Roman Empire
Before the Roman aqueduct was engineered, the ancient Roman people depend on local water such as
rainwater, springs, streams, and well water stored into cisterns or container. The water quality were a
daily problem of the Romans and the droughts and drainage problems were even deadly. The
engineering curiosity that implemented the rise of the Roman Empire and sustained the water solution.
The Roman aqueducts was not all engineered by Roman inventions, the architects used the Greek
designs like the columns and arches by the Etruscans. The aqueducts were built from a sequence of
brick, stone, and special volcanic cement. The aqueducts were very important to the ancient Romans
and heavily impact their daily living. Ancient Roman aqueducts were constructed to carry water from
far away springs and mountains into the cities. From 311 B.C. to 226 A.D., the Romans had built
eleven major aqueducts around Roman Empire. Started around the time of Circus Maximus in the
sixth century A.D., soon after the construction of the Baths of Caracalla. The water would supply the
city s fountains, gardens, public baths, bathroom, and house of wealthy Roman. The water from the
aqueducts also would used to irrigate lands, to power mills and other machined used in mining. ect.
The first Roman aqueduct is called Aqua Appia, was assigned by the member of the Senate named
Appius Claudius Caecus in 312 B.C., and Rome became the first civilization to used water so
extensively in its cities. The Aqua

Informal Interview Over Dinner
Reliability has a long history as one of the key psychometric properties of a test, but a given test might
not measure people equally reliably (Hu, Nesselroade, Erbacher, Boker, Burt, Keel ... Klump, 2016).
Test scores from some individuals might have considerably greater error than others. It has a lot to do
with the consistency of the test subject s performance on the test. While there are several methods for
estimating test reliability, the four major types are inter rater, test retest, parallel, and internal
consistency (Heneman, Judge, Kammeyer Mueller, 2012). Inter rater reliability is used to assess the
point to which different raters give consistent estimates of the same occurrence. Interrater reliability
offers a measure of the consistency of scores that could be expected across raters. Inter rater reliability
is valuable because human raters will not essentially understand each answers the same way.
Evaluating how an informal interview over dinner, a formal presentation to managers, and managerial
evaluations of performance potential compare for this type of reliability is that the some raters may
disagree as to how well certain replies sounded or may have a different feel of the subject s skills and
knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scores from the first encounter and to the second encounter can then be correlated in order to
assess the test for stability over time period. The relationships between the subjects scores from the
two different encounters are estimated, through statistical correlation, to determine how similar the
scores are. Evaluating how an informal interview over dinner, a formal presentation to managers, and
managerial evaluations of performance potential compare for this type of reliability is that this type of

Modernization of Romance Elements Essay
Modernization of romance elements in Chivalry by Neil Gaiman
In Neil Gaiman s short story Chivalry , an elderly woman finds and buys the Holy Grail in a thrift
shop to use it as a decorative element in her house. At the same time, a knight from the Round Table is
in the quest of finding this sacred object of God. This short story contains many elements of romance,
such as the religious quest, love and adventure and courtly and chivalric life. By modernizing
romance, Gaiman suggests that love and loyalty are important values even in today s society, that
courtly and chivalric life are still alive in one way and that, unfortunately, religious quest is not as
much valued as it used to be. Gaiman does this by using literary elements ... Show more content on

Through the book, Mrs. Whitaker notices changes in Marie s physical look, and at the end we find out
that this is due to Marie meeting Galaad. When the woman replacing Marie at the thrift store informs
Mrs. Whitaker that Marie went of with a young man [...] on a horse (46), the allusion is made here to
the popular belief that every woman will meet, at some point in life, her perfect knight to whom she
will fall in love with and together they will run away on his white horse. Gaiman makes this popular
belief happen to show that this hopeful ideal love is still alive today. Values such as love and loyalty
are experienced by Mrs. Whitaker through her decision, her book interests and also by Marie and her
happy ending.
Courtly and chivalric life represents another element of romances and they are kept alive in Chivalry
through Galaad. The story is somehow ironic because Galaad is really a medieval knight and not a
man from today s society but his qualities are valuable qualities that even a man today would like to
have. Galaad is courteous and gallant toward woman. He respects Mrs. Whitaker, calls her a gracious
lady (37) and talks to her with good manners, he remains polite and leaves the house when asked and
he comes back bringing magical impressive presents. Giving gifts, respect and politeness are also
qualities of today s gentleman around the world. In addition to this, Galaad is also honorable because
he is a Knight of the Table

Analysis Of The Details Of Why Nice Guys Finish Last By...
Rozik Jemyan
Philosophy 101
Monday Night
Upon reviewing the details of Why Nice Guys Finish Last, the author Julia Serano emphasizes that
with society being the way it is, men tend to become bad boys because society and culture is brought
up to believe that the way to win a womans heart and attention is by being sexually aggressive. Julia
Serano argues that in order to recognize rape culture, we must first learn to understand the predator /
prey mindset. In this essay, I will argue that in order to neutralize the predator / prey mindset, society
needs to stop looking at women as the prey and the men as the predators. I believe that if society
learns how to overlook men as being hunters and women as the prey, that would make the amount of
rape occurrences drop massively.
In my past experiences I have ubiquitously heard throughout my life: Nice guys finish last. Women
don t want a man that is sweet and sensitive because it is a speculation that all women want a real
man. The comprehension of a real man in this society is taught to be someone who is dominant,
someone who leads and takes control. Nice guys continuously get turned down by women because
women are accustomed to see the sympathetic man as being unnatural and bizarre. In my opinion,
dominance and sexual aggression are the key ingredients in capturing a woman s attention. Womens
brains are stimulated automatically to set one s sights on a man who can protect them. Which is why
they fall towards the sexual

Free speech is commonly assumed to be speech unrestricted by regulation, nevertheless legislators
may also enact legislation to protect the implicit right to free speech. This is presented in the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights article 19 section 1, stating everyone shall have
the right to hold opinions without interference. This may be distinguished in this case as the employee
has entered both into an employment contract with an implied social media agreement, and
Commonwealth and State laws which are permitted to transcend this material. This implicit and

The objective of an open court is the right of public of admission for the public. This principle of open
justice is reflected in the aforementioned article 14(1) of the ICCPR. This factor of open justice
fashions a circumstance in which the media has no greater common law right to attend court than any
other member of the public. It may be noted that special privileges exists for journalist; seating, note
taking and some access to documents. Access to documents is restricted due to the aforementioned
equality of journalists and general public, coinciding with the court not being a public register with
rights to access. The notion of open justice allows our journalists to enter and report on cases, such as
the Moreton Bay Killer . Open justice is the key to accurate and knowledgeable reporting in the public

Essay On Should College Athletes Be Paid
College Athletes Pay for Play?
There have been ongoing arguments over the past decade of whether or not college athletes should be
paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the
sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full
scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the
argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play. College athletes are not forced
into playing the sport that they have devoted their time to during their years in secondary education.

Therefore leaving them limited time to find jobs that allow them to work around their tedious
scheduals.
One rule that the NCAA maintains, is that while its athletes are playing a school sport, they are not
allowed to use their talents playing for paying teams. To many this seems unfair as students who
participate in things such as the band or a singing group can use their talents in jobs such as lessons or
paid gigs that are available. However, student athletes are often offered jobs by the school to
participate as trainers or instructors in summer camps. The fact that they are already talented in the
sport that they are asked to instruct gives them an edge on others who may be looking to get the same
job, and therefore offers these students summer jobs without the hassle that others face finding work.
Also student athletes are given a monthly stipend to spend while they are on road trips, to pay for their
food, laundry, and other things. On average students are given 200 250 dollars a month, that they can
choose to do whatever like with. If the students wishes to keep the money and put it into a savings
account this does not violate any rules. (Fleck, buzzle.com) The NCAA also offers a special assistance
fund that was created in 1991. This fund allows for student athletes to be given up to 500 dollars a

The Legend Of The Sleepy Hollow By Washington Irving
The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is a tale of supernaturalism written in
Nineteenth Century America during a time when American literature was not yet fully established.
Irving wrote this story with multiple historical events in mind and presents a legend full of
problematic ideas of wealth, greed and rejection. Amongst many other literary elements, Irving uses
the American setting and Sleepy Hollow itself throughout in relation to the development of the story.
The setting in relation to the characters is also an important factor that establishes the mood for this
creepy, supernatural legend. The location of Sleepy Hollow is the basis of the setting and is influenced
by a full range of historical facts and events. This instantly creates a frame of mind for the readers and
prepares them for certain themes. The city of Sleepy Hollow and its name at first glance describe the
story in general very well. Lastly, the setting impacts the characters throughout and directs the way the
characters should be. Without the heavy description and use of setting, the mood in this story would
not be so well founded and the context not as impactful. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow would not be
the supernatural tale it is without Irving s focus on the setting.
The location of Sleepy Hollow in the United States is the main setting and impacts the story
dramatically, straight from the beginning to the end. As a reader, it is set from the first sentence that

Lenore By Edgar Allan Poe Analysis
The Power of Conversation
Since birth, Edgar Allan Poe was forced to face faced the harsh realities of life. After his father left the
family and Poe s mother passed away when he was merely three, Poe was forced to move from his
home, Massachusetts, to live with another family in Virginia. Later, Poe gambled to earn enough
money to attend the University of Virginia, but when he returned home he found his fiancee engaged
to marry his neighbor. Poe attended military school, West Point Academy, but was kicked out, and
afterwards married his cousin who died only eleven years later (Biography.com). These traumatic
events shaped Poe as a man and writer, and caused his dark, macabre writing style. In his poem

Poe s poem, Lenore extends further and uniquely focuses on a man s journey to accept the loss of his
betrothed using the tone and organization of the text. The poem is organized as a conversation in four
stanzas between Guy de Vere and the narrator. The first and third stanzas are the spoken words of the
narrator and the second and fourth stanzas are the verbal responses of Guy de Vere. Poe s decision to
compose his poem in this manner provides the reader with a direct look at the raw, bare emotions of
the recently widowed man. These four stanzas allow the reader four opportunities to stand in Guy de
Vere s shoes and to hear what he hears. The reader now can identify with the complex array of
emotions and stages of grief experienced by Guy de Vere. With each stanza in the poem, the tone
changes slightly showing the gradual acceptance of the loss by Guy de Vere. In the second stanza, de
Vere s tone, created by internal sound devices and sentence structure, is hostile, demonstrating the
anger felt. The change in de Vere s tone occurring in the fourth stanza demonstrates a major evolution
in his outlook toward the future. He finally understands that although Lenore is gone, she will be
accepted in Heaven; and his life will continue without her. By talking out his feelings through
conversation, Guy de Vere finally accepts the loss of his bride to be, showing the power that one
conversation can have on someone s life. In Poe s poem, he uses structure and sound devices to show
that after the loss of a loved one, one may attribute the death to others, but with consolation and care
from others, he or she will make peace with the

empire if he is killed in battle (35). Philip follows the advice of Demaratus and sends for his son
Alexander (35). Almost as soon as Alexander returns to Pella, Philip is offered a proposal of marriage
between his mentally handicapped son, Arrhidaeus, and the daughter of the Carian throne (35). Philip
would gain a key Greek city and agrees, but he is not overly impressed with the offer (35). Alexander
goes behind his father and sends Thesalus to negotiate the marriage with him instead (35). Philip finds
out and tells Alexander that he has showed little hope for being a worthy king (36). Alexander has just
returned to the empire and does not want to create a new rift with Philip so he readily admits he had
behaved imprudently (36). Philip has Thesalus sent home in chains and banishes four of Alexander s
friends (36). With all of the family distractions, Philip tries to focus on his plans for the invasion. He
does have one other family matter to take care of before he leaves. Philip fears that Olympias brother,
Alexander of Epirus, will not keep his allegiance with him since he divorced Olympias (36). He
arranges the marriage of his daughter Cleopatra to Alexander to secure his

Informative Speech on Swimming Essay
Swimming
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose Statement: To inform my audience about the history and development of swim along
with its applications.
Central Idea: Swimming has a long and rich history that dates back way before our generations and is
not always as beneficial as we may think.
Method of Organization: Topical
Introduction
I. (Gain attention and interest) I remember joining the high school swim team back in my sophomore
year. I remember struggling to catch a breath in between every stroke while simultaneously trying not
to breath in any water. To be honest, swimming scared me, but drowning scared me more.

In 1873, this hybrid stroke became known as the Trudgen stroke.
4. Trudgen effectively changed England s swimming styles from endurance based to more speed
based. iv. Another swimming pioneer, Fredrick Cavill , helped further develop Trudgen s stroke into
an even faster stroke known as the front crawl (livestrong.com).
1. He was an Englishman and a notable swimmer who emigrated to Australia.
2. Like Arthur Trudgen, Cavill observed the natives of the Solomon Islands and found that Trudgen s
stroke would have been significantly faster if he would have incorporated the native s kicking action.
3. Cavill refined the native s stroke and taught it to his sons, one of which would later use the stroke in
a competition in England.
4. Since England was still using the Trudgen stoke, Cavill s son Richard, destroyed his competition
with the more efficient stroke, which he described as, crawling through the water (usaswimming.org).
Hence, the name front crawl.
2. As I previously mentioned, I will describe the four basic strokes that swimming consists of, such as
the freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly
A. The Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA), the governing body for international
competitive swimming, regulates everything swim related.
i. FINA, states that, the four official strokes, breast, back, free and fly, comprise all the events in
national and international competition (FINA.org) ii. Each stroke is an individual event in swimming

Short Story Of Wasp Man
Wasps make a shield, said Wasp Man. Gun shots rang out through the harbor. Wasp Man bent down
and slowly moved across the brick wall turning the corner.
He s over here!! said a man with a pistol.

move fast. He heard footsteps behind him and around the corner. A black car pulled up in front of him
blocking him as he was running. He ran left to find more somali pirates. He looked right, he saw a
small anyway but at the end there was no where to go besides the a long fall to who knows what. He
ran taking a leap of faith.
Karl johnson aka Wasp Man was an everyday normal person. He went to work from nine to five, five

Charles Colson
The everlasting tension between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of men draws Charles Colson,
the author of God and Government, to offer seasoned reflection from his experience. Colson was a
well known author, radio commentator, and a former presidential aide to Richard Nixon. As a former
atheist worker in the white house and a converted Christian, he highlights the concerns of the
involvement of religion in politics. Colson understands the possible dilemma of an individual in trying
to keep the Christian conscience while also following a politician s mandate. Unlike other Christian
conservatives, Colson has achieved strong political power in the past. It ruined his reputation, and he
is inoculated against it so he claims, It is power that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A personal anecdote regarding his experiences builds credibility and draws in interest since a former
politician, Colson, advises people to not be seduced by political powers. Colson s supposed focus of
the book seems to be that a country has an apparent need of biblical Christian values, but people
should not seek to impose them through political legislation; People can, however, seek to define their
rationality in a non biblical sense, and influence society to adopt them. Although the motive of the
book was to explore both sides of the dilemma in a neutral manner, Colson fails to offer an equally
balanced content. His usage of extreme evidence, events that are very rare, does not support his main
point as much. Colson illustrates the danger of media by stating that it turns every uncertified fact as
the truth, but that is not true in my opinion. Media gives an opportunity for people to build their own
opinions regardless of whether an incident is true or not, so criticizing the media weakens his
argument. Colson argues Christians are commanded to try to influence the kingdom of man by
bringing the values of the Kingdom of God to the political arena but in the beginning he claims that
Christians should not express their political stance as a group. As a reader, it is confusing to
understand the main

A STUDY ON THE EXISTENCE OF GLASS CEILING FACED BY FEMALE MANAGERS IN
HOTEL INDUSTRY IN MALAYSIA LITERATURE REVIEW 1. Introduction There have been a
number of market research surveys that states information on the barriers of women s career in hotel
industry. Three general areas of literature that are identified to be relevant to this study: definition of
glass ceiling , the barriers of female managers in advancing to a higher level in their career in hotel

These factors emphasize on the male attitudes towards women as the weaker sex and that they were
expected to work in certain areas for certain task only. In addition, (Frank, 2001) also indicate that for
example that Chinese woman prefer a male manager. Living in Malaysia as a multiracial country, we
agreed that it is true that not only the Chinese but in general that most of our people prefer a male than
the female manager in working environment. In order to overcome this situation, the advantage of
networking is possible. However the culture exists restrain the women managers from entertaining
their business associates in private clubs or on the golf course. It is more known as the men s field to
suit this type of socializing. Because of such exclusion, women managers have limited opportunity to
socialize with influential executives who could help their career development. According to Eight
Malaysian Plan, Chapter four (Malaysian Economic Planning Unit), under employment, the
legislators, senior officials and managers category is expected to register an average annual growth of
4.7 per cent with its share to total employment accounting for 7.8 per cent in 2005. This was due to the
increasing demand for general managers, which as well hotel and restaurants subsector, of which
general managers in lodging and catering services are accounted.

Ferguson Student Center Observation
The purpose of the observation assignment is to conduct an observation of a site on the campus of a
college or university to document student interaction. I chose to conduct observations on the campus
of the University of Alabama (UA). The site used for the observation is the Ferguson Student Center,
also known as the Ferg. According to the University of Alabama, the Ferguson Center is the heart is
the University of Alabama s campus. Being a native of Tuscaloosa, I knew the Ferguson Center has
always been a hot commodity student attraction. Originally, I planned to conduct observations on
Saturday. There was not much interaction on campus. The Ferguson Center was closed. I drove to
three (3) different locations on UA s campus before I realized students were not on campus.
I chose to conduct observations on Monday, July 3rd because the Ferguson Center was closed on the
weekend. Locating the Ferguson Center was difficult and confusing. Eventually, a University Police
Officer gave me directions. As one walks to the Ferguson Center, they will see an open space for
walking. In the walking area is a beautiful water foundation with patio tables and chairs surrounding
it. The scenery is very relaxing and few students were sitting and socializing. While standing in the
walking area, students will see the Ferguson center to the left and Student Support Services to the
right.
The Ferguson Center is a large building with four (4) floors. Each floor has a variety of resources to

June Boyce-Tillman s Hildegard Network
Life: Hildegard of Bingen, who lived from 1098 to 1179, was the tenth child of a noble couple who
promised her to the service of the church as a tithe. At eight years old, Hildegard entered into the
Benedictine monastery at Mount St. Disibode to start her formal education. Raised by a religious
recluse, Hildegard lived in a stone cell with a single window and took her vows at the age of fourteen.
As a child, Hildegard experienced vivid visions, which she kept hidden throughout her childhood.
However, these visions intensified later in life and she was reportedly able to foretell the future. At age
eighteen, Hildegard took her vows to become a nun. After the death of her teacher, Hildegard became
the head of the community at twenty years old. Around the year 1150, she founded her own convent in
Rupertsberg, Germany on the Rhine River near Bingen. At age forty two, Hildegard experienced the
mystical vision that transformed her life. After falling ill, she began to record a detailed recount of the
vision in her manuscript entitled Scivias, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ida B. Wells is well known for her influence during the civil rights and women s rights movements.
She was born in 1862 in Holly Springs Mississippi. Her parents died of yellow fever when she was
only sixteen years old. She was to be split up from her other six siblings, but she dropped out of
school and managed to get a job as a teacher and was able to keep her family together. She soon
realized the discrimination in pay that there was as she was taking home thirty dollars compared to
someone else s eighty dollars a month. Then in 1884, she was confronted by a railroad conductor,
asking her to move to the overly crowded smoking car. She refused and was drug off the train. She

The main excuse given for the mob lynchings of the Negroes was rape. Any blacks found to be
involved intimately with a white woman were immediately accused of rape. Ida writes, In numerous
instances where colored men have been lynched on the charge of rape, it was positively known at the
time of lynching, and indisputably proven after the victims death, that the relationship sustained
between the man and the woman was voluntary and clandestine, and that in no court of law could even
the charge of assault have been successfully maintained. However, she also writes, The Southern
white man says it is impossible for a voluntary alliance to exist between a white woman and a colored
man, and therefore, the act of an alliance is a proof of force. Even though they know that the acts had
been completely consensual, the white males continued this butchery of the blacks. Anything that
could be thought up, even if it lacked truth or evidence, was used as excuses for these continued forms
of slavery. Ida also writes about the young white women from the North that left their lives behind to
go to the south and educate the newly emancipated blacks. These women were treated just as the
blacks, no respect or

Memoirs Of Hadrian By Marguerite Yourcenar
Memoirs of Hadrian is a timeless historical novel that describes the life and accomplishments of the
great Roman Emperor Hadrian and the impact he had culturally on western civilization. The story is
told from Hadrian s own point of view when he is an old man looking back on his life and is written as
a letter to Marcus Aurelious who he had chosen to be his successor as emperor. This book sheds light
on the achievements that Hadrian made during his reign while also providing an interesting
perspective since the novel is written from a first person point of view. Overall I feel that the author
Marguerite Yourcenar did a wonderful job of bringing such an interesting character to life while still
remaining factual in regards to the important historical aspects of Hadrian s reign. The book begins
with Hadrian as an old man nearing his deathbed and wanting to give his adopted successor Marcus
Aurelious a personal account of his life and reign in order to help prepare him for the role he is going
to undertake soon. Hadrian tells Marcus that he was born in Italica and his family was Spanish. His
father was a Senator but Hadrian s family was not one of wealth. His father passes away when
Hadrian is only twelve years old and his mother never remarries, remaining a widow the rest of her
life. Hadrian goes to Spain to receive his education where he becomes fascinated with the more
philosophical subjects, especially anything relating to Greek culture. In the book Hadrian feels that

My First Part Of The Combo
In the beginning of the year, from week one to week five, we began learning some of the warmups and
getting our body used to dance. I have never taken a dance class before so when I first entered the
classroom, I was a little intimidated. One of the first things we learned was a warm up combination.
The first part of the combo was where we had our right foot go forward, back to the other foot, side,
back to the other foot, back behind us, and then back to the original position while clapping at the end.
Then, we would repeat this process on the other side while trying to make your body not so stiff but
free flowing. Next, we repeated these two steps fastly and then turn after your foot would return with
the other foot. After that, we ran forward, lifting our arms and right leg up neighing , and then repeated
on the other side. We repeated both sides twice. Next, we went to our right side lifting our right leg up
and down on the floor while clapping moving sideways. After a few counts, we woulds lift our arms
diagonally to the floor, and fall back to the left side. We would repeat this process on the other side as
well. Additionally, we would do the octagon with our feet going back and forward. Once that was
done, we would run to the right side and then run back to do the other side again. Lastly, we did the
octagon dance again, running, and instead of turning back, we would go into the retire position and
turn slightly to the front of the room. Last, we would repeat on the

Nostalgia And Loss In American Beauty
When watching movies, various life lessons or themes can be picked up on that are scattered
throughout the films in subtle ways. Some messages can be picked up instantly while other messages
will make you sit back and think just a bit harder. American Beauty was a film released in 1999 that
was filled with numerous interpretations of which themes can be accounted for. Nostalgia and loss,
and issues with obsession are two themes or issues that stood out when watching the film for the first
time. American Beauty is a drama film directed by Sam Mendes. The film follows sympathetic lead
character, Lester as he lives his boring, mundane life. Lester seems to have the picture perfect life on
the surface of things but that isn t always the case. Lester is an advertising executive and magazine
writer who eventually ends up despising his job. His wife, Carolyn, is a career driven real estate
broker who becomes more obsessed with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the film, there is times when Lester wishes things can go back to the way they were. One scene
during the film Carolyn returns home to find Lester goofing off with a remote control car. Lester
precedes to complement Carolyn and seduce her and talk about fond memories that they have
together. He questions what happened to the girl that would run out on the roof and flash traffic
helicopters and fake seizures. This is just once example of Lester being nostalgic and remembering
how life use to be. Another example of nostalgia within American Beauty in the ending scene of the
movie. Right before Lester died, he took a picture of the family that was sitting in the kitchen and
stared. He was reminiscing about how happy he was with Carolyn and Jane and starting to feel at ease.
Nostalgia makes people forget all their problems and issues for a second and makes them happy once
again just like Lester in the

Captain America Character Traits
Genuine compassion is a difficult trait to find today in a world so full of hatred and violence. One hero
of fiction that we could learn from to combat this negativity, and I especially have, is Captain America
(Steve Rogers) from the Marvel Comics Universe. He is more than just a character in my favorite
movies, he has taught me to be kind, loyal, and courageous and I believe our world could use the same
compassion that he displays. Captain America s loyalty is one of his most striking traits. In the second
film of the Captain America trilogy, he discovered that his best friend was the villain he had been
hunting the entire movie. Rogers did not turn his back on his friend, and even refused to fight him
periodically throughout the movie. Instead, Rogers helped rehabilitate his friend back from the brain
damage he suffered. In a similar fashion, I have learned to defend my friends from others, and remain
loyal to them. When arguments break out, I look to understand everyone s side of the story and I never
jump to conclusions. Every conflict has a solution and a source. Rogers has shown me that staying

Including, but not limited to: lip balm, band aids, tissues, and breath mints. I attribute a large portion
of this aspect of my personality to Rogers. He volunteered to crash a plane full of explosives into the
sea, with himself inside, so that others would be allowed to live. I remember watching that scene and

Electromyography
Electromyography (EMG) is a way of measuring muscle electrical activity and use it in medical
diagnoses which refers to muscle performance. The electric activity generated during muscle
activation, known as the myoelectric signal, is generated from small electrical currents generated by
the exchange of ions across the muscle membranes and detected with the help of surface electrodes
[1]. EMG make us generate force, create movements and allow us to do countless other functions
through which we can interact with the world around us. The EMG is a bioelectric signal which has,
over the years, developed a vast range of applications. Clinically, EMG is being used as diagnostic
tool for neurological disorders. It is frequently being used for assessment of patients with
neuromuscular diseases, low back pain and disorders of motor control [2]. Other than physiological

Avian Aspergillosis
Avian Aspergillosis
The subfamily Aspergillus has a wide range of fungi which can cause Avian Aspergillosis. Aspergillus
Fumigatus is the most commonly diagnosed species of the fungus, others include flavus and niger.
Aspergillus Fumigatus tends to thrive in moist and warm environments. Endotoxins are released
through the dispersal of microscopic spores, which usually become airborne. This enables the disease
to travel from one location to another and then proceed to grow, which creates areas that are more
highly populated compared to others. In small minorities the fungus is less likely to have adverse
consequences. Some factors concerning the environment that can increase the chances of a bird
inhaling spores are poor ventilation and sanitation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acute Avian Aspergillus can create a loss of appetite and can cause severe difficulty when breathing.
This can be seen by the bird showing signs of accelerated breathing, gasping and voice changes. An
infected bird might also have abnormal excretion, a strong thirst with excessive urination or show
signs of emaciation and central nervous system damage. This severe damage will be evident in an
obvious lack of muscular coordination and mobility; the bird might also hold its head at an unnatural
angles. Central nervous system damage will only occur if the fungal infection reaches the brain. The
most common signs of Avian Aspergillosis are drooped wings and rapid opening and closing of the
bird s bill. The fungus usually affects the respiratory region including the trachea, lungs and syrinx;
the infection can however spread to the kidneys, brain, skin, and muscles. Since Aspergillus can be
fatal, a lot of birds are diagnosed post mortem. The signs from an autopsy can include brain tissue
death or meningoencephalitis; white nodules can also be evident. These small growths are evidently

Freddie Mac Fraud The definition of fraud is an intentional deception or deceit, perpetrated for profit
or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage (dictionary.com). Fraud is a breach of law and can be
punishable by law. Mortgage fraud is one of the financial crimes where a company materially
misrepresents or omits information on its mortgage loan documentation in order to secure a loan larger
than what is actually required for the business. It could be perpetrated by one or more participants,
including the borrower, real estate agent, loan officer, appraiser or multiple related parties. Fraud not

Loan level misrepresentation might include fabricated employment, income, or asset documents.
Consumer and mortgage debts might not be disclosed on the application. The sources of funding
might also be misrepresented. Usually, the recorded owner should always be the same as the person on
the contract, who sells the property, title documents and appraisal when conducting a purchase. If the
person who sells the property or the person who borrows is not the same as the owner on record, the
loan needs to be reinvestigated to ensure the legitimacy of the transaction. Identify theft is generally
used when dealing with impersonal real estate agent, loan officers and appraisers (Freddie Mac, 2012).
There are numerous types of fraud, such as builder bailout schemes, condominium conversion bailout
schemes, property flips and multi lien frauds. The builder bailout scheme occurs when the sales speed
in the market is slowing down while the builders and developers want to transfer property quickly.
Condominium conversion bailout schemes occur when the builders and developers want to transfer
units quickly and there is a depression on the real estate market. Property flips happen when certain
properties have changed ownership numerous times in a short period of time. It becomes illegal when
a property is purchased and resold frequently at an artificially inflated value. Multi lien fraud occurs
when multiple loans for the same house are secured

The Apartheid Of South African Apartheid
The avowal that the apartheid vision for democracy necessitated state terror and repression is evident
when examining the South African apartheid system between 1960 1994. The system of apartheid
spiked significant internal resistance, hence, the ideology for apartheid stems from the creation of a
white state surrounded by economically interdependent and politically dependent black states, which
required state terror and repression to ensure mounting resistance and international condemnation did
not abolish the apartheid system. The government responded to a series of popular uprisings and
protests with police brutality, which increased support for armed resistance. Detentions were set
without trial, torture, censorship and the outlawing of political oppositional organizations such as The
African National Congress, the Black Conscious Movement, the Azanian Peoples Organisation, The
Pan Africanist Congress and the United Democratic Front, were all a result of the apartheid
government due to political resistance.
In 1960 South Africa s policies were subject to international scrutiny and the Sharpeville massacre
resulted in international condemnation. The United Nations conservative stance on the apartheid
changed. The Sharpeville massacre had shaken the global community, with the apartheid regime
threatening that it would possess violent behavior and lead into state terror to repress opposition to
racial inequity. Apartheid was seen as a danger to the global community in

  • 2. John F Kennedy s Influence On Government Many have regarded the American presidency as the most influential position a US citizen can hold. Since the inauguration of General George Washington, the President of the United States has expanded the power and overall influence of the office. In becoming increasingly prominent especially in recent decades, presidents use a variety of tools such as media and public opinion, domestic, or national security policies to expand that power. During his presidency, John F. Kennedy utilized the opinions of the media and public to gain traction in the 1960 general election through the ever increasing usage of the television as well as Kennedy s ...vibrant and reassuring image (352). Foremost was the President s implementation of a conservative...New Deal (373) 1 in which he challenged the new deal and formed it to a more conservative liking, focused primarily on feeding the American people decentralized solutions of state and local governments, rather then federal handouts. Out of this, a sort of paradox emerged; to reduce federal power, it was necessary to increase presidential power (373). 1 Out of which came a centralization of management in the White House, or a more consolidated power within the White House itself in terms of domestic policy decisions. Branded New Federalism , Nixon started off by issuing executive orders further emphasizing affirmative action or granting employment, contracting or education on the basis of race or gender (372) 1 by having the secretary of labor to authorize a compliance of hiring reports, effectively forcing the hiring of minorities. Next, Nixon would further expand the power of the presidency through impoundments, or not spending money that has been appropriated thought congress. Unlike Nixon s predecessors, he did not use the impounded funds to funnel back into the economy; instead, he actively tried to sabotage governmental agencies such as the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) as it did not fit his administrations agenda due to its liberal agenda and war on poverty (377). 1 In this sense, ... • 3. Children Of Dune Analysis Children of Dune Is it wise to save somebody, but harm them in the process. Frank Herbert s Children of Dune explores this idea. Leto, the boy who will soon be emperor, has a vision of the future in which he believes that he can save humanity from destruction, but would harm them in the process. He intends to lead humanity along a Golden Path , but will have readers questioning if he will do more harm than good. Despite the fact that Leto s intentions are good, he is actually evil. Leto begins his path to ruling the universe by destroying the changing ecology of Arrakis, the main planet in the empire. The ecology is being changed so that the planet will be more livable, because it is brutal desert planet. Tomorrow I ll raid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To do this he believes that he must become a tyrant. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the sand; and he had two horns like a lamb, but his mouth was fanged and fiery as the dragon and his body shimmered and burned with great heat while it did hiss like the serpent revised Bible (Herbert). This passage from the revised Bible of Dune is a foreshadowing to Leto rising up as the emperor, because is is an almost exact description of a sandworm. The natives of the planet worship the sandworms as a physical representation of God, and Leto makes himself partially sandworm in the book. Leto does another act of evil by proclaiming himself to be a god. Leto knows that he will be a brutal ruler, and that it will be hard for humanity to survive. Leto told his father, Paul Your jihad will be a summer picnic on Caladan by comparison (Herbert). Pauls jihad was a successful attempt to make his rule absolute, but it caused the death of 61 billion people. Leto understands what his rule will do, but he will continue anyways. Leto knows he will be a tyrant, and shows that he is evil by continuing anyways. Despite being the protagonist of the novel, Leto is really a villain. He believes that by being a tyrant, he can benefit all of humanity. To him, the billions of deaths, the disruption of a planet s transformation, and him wanting to be a god show that he is inherently evil. He believes that he can save humanity by oppressing and harming them. Leto is the true villain of Children of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inventions Of The Roman Aqueducts In The Ancient Roman Empire Before the Roman aqueduct was engineered, the ancient Roman people depend on local water such as rainwater, springs, streams, and well water stored into cisterns or container. Informal Interview Over Dinner Reliability has a long history as one of the key psychometric properties of a test, but a given test might not measure people equally reliably (Hu, Nesselroade, Erbacher, Boker, Burt, Keel ... Klump, 2016). Test scores from some individuals might have considerably greater error than others. It has a lot to do with the consistency of the test subject s performance on the test. While there are several methods for estimating test reliability, the four major types are inter rater, test retest, parallel, and internal consistency (Heneman, Judge, Kammeyer Mueller, 2012). Inter rater reliability is used to assess the point to which different raters give consistent estimates of the same occurrence. Interrater reliability offers a measure of the consistency of scores that could be expected across raters. Inter rater reliability is valuable because human raters will not essentially understand each answers the same way. • 7. Modernization of Romance Elements Essay Modernization of romance elements in Chivalry by Neil Gaiman In Neil Gaiman s short story Chivalry , an elderly woman finds and buys the Holy Grail in a thrift shop to use it as a decorative element in her house. At the same time, a knight from the Round Table is in the quest of finding this sacred object of God. This short story contains many elements of romance, such as the religious quest, love and adventure and courtly and chivalric life. By modernizing romance, Gaiman suggests that love and loyalty are important values even in today s society, that courtly and chivalric life are still alive in one way and that, unfortunately, religious quest is not as much valued as it used to be. Gaiman does this by using literary elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the book, Mrs. Whitaker notices changes in Marie s physical look, and at the end we find out that this is due to Marie meeting Galaad. When the woman replacing Marie at the thrift store informs Mrs. Whitaker that Marie went of with a young man [...] on a horse (46), the allusion is made here to the popular belief that every woman will meet, at some point in life, her perfect knight to whom she will fall in love with and together they will run away on his white horse. Gaiman makes this popular belief happen to show that this hopeful ideal love is still alive today. Values such as love and loyalty are experienced by Mrs. Whitaker through her decision, her book interests and also by Marie and her happy ending. Courtly and chivalric life represents another element of romances and they are kept alive in Chivalry through Galaad. The story is somehow ironic because Galaad is really a medieval knight and not a man from today s society but his qualities are valuable qualities that even a man today would like to have. Galaad is courteous and gallant toward woman. He respects Mrs. Whitaker, calls her a gracious lady (37) and talks to her with good manners, he remains polite and leaves the house when asked and he comes back bringing magical impressive presents. Giving gifts, respect and politeness are also qualities of today s gentleman around the world. In addition to this, Galaad is also honorable because he is a Knight of the Table ... • 8. Analysis Of The Details Of Why Nice Guys Finish Last By... Rozik Jemyan Philosophy 101 Monday Night Upon reviewing the details of Why Nice Guys Finish Last, the author Julia Serano emphasizes that with society being the way it is, men tend to become bad boys because society and culture is brought up to believe that the way to win a womans heart and attention is by being sexually aggressive. Julia Serano argues that in order to recognize rape culture, we must first learn to understand the predator / prey mindset. In this essay, I will argue that in order to neutralize the predator / prey mindset, society needs to stop looking at women as the prey and the men as the predators. I believe that if society learns how to overlook men as being hunters and women as the prey, that would make the amount of rape occurrences drop massively. In my past experiences I have ubiquitously heard throughout my life: Nice guys finish last. Women don t want a man that is sweet and sensitive because it is a speculation that all women want a real man. The comprehension of a real man in this society is taught to be someone who is dominant, someone who leads and takes control. Nice guys continuously get turned down by women because women are accustomed to see the sympathetic man as being unnatural and bizarre. In my opinion, dominance and sexual aggression are the key ingredients in capturing a woman s attention. Womens brains are stimulated automatically to set one s sights on a man who can protect them. Which is why they fall towards the sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the argument, I still feel that college athletes should NOT be paid to play. Therefore leaving them limited time to find jobs that allow them to work around their tedious scheduals. One rule that the NCAA maintains, is that while its athletes are playing a school sport, they are not allowed to use their talents playing for paying teams. To many this seems unfair as students who participate in things such as the band or a singing group can use their talents in jobs such as lessons or paid gigs that are available. However, student athletes are often offered jobs by the school to participate as trainers or instructors in summer camps. The fact that they are already talented in the sport that they are asked to instruct gives them an edge on others who may be looking to get the same job, and therefore offers these students summer jobs without the hassle that others face finding work. Also student athletes are given a monthly stipend to spend while they are on road trips, to pay for their food, laundry, and other things. On average students are given 200 250 dollars a month, that they can choose to do whatever like with. If the students wishes to keep the money and put it into a savings account this does not violate any rules. • 13. The Legend Of The Sleepy Hollow By Washington Irving The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is a tale of supernaturalism written in Nineteenth Century America during a time when American literature was not yet fully established. Irving wrote this story with multiple historical events in mind and presents a legend full of problematic ideas of wealth, greed and rejection. Amongst many other literary elements, Irving uses the American setting and Sleepy Hollow itself throughout in relation to the development of the story. The setting in relation to the characters is also an important factor that establishes the mood for this creepy, supernatural legend. The location of Sleepy Hollow is the basis of the setting and is influenced by a full range of historical facts and events. This instantly creates a frame of mind for the readers and prepares them for certain themes. The city of Sleepy Hollow and its name at first glance describe the story in general very well. Lastly, the setting impacts the characters throughout and directs the way the characters should be. Without the heavy description and use of setting, the mood in this story would not be so well founded and the context not as impactful. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow would not be the supernatural tale it is without Irving s focus on the setting. The location of Sleepy Hollow in the United States is the main setting and impacts the story dramatically, straight from the beginning to the end. Poe s poem, Lenore extends further and uniquely focuses on a man s journey to accept the loss of his betrothed using the tone and organization of the text. The poem is organized as a conversation in four stanzas between Guy de Vere and the narrator. The first and third stanzas are the spoken words of the narrator and the second and fourth stanzas are the verbal responses of Guy de Vere. Poe s decision to compose his poem in this manner provides the reader with a direct look at the raw, bare emotions of the recently widowed man. These four stanzas allow the reader four opportunities to stand in Guy de Vere s shoes and to hear what he hears. The reader now can identify with the complex array of emotions and stages of grief experienced by Guy de Vere. With each stanza in the poem, the tone changes slightly showing the gradual acceptance of the loss by Guy de Vere. In the second stanza, de Vere s tone, created by internal sound devices and sentence structure, is hostile, demonstrating the anger felt. The change in de Vere s tone occurring in the fourth stanza demonstrates a major evolution in his outlook toward the future. He finally understands that although Lenore is gone, she will be accepted in Heaven; and his life will continue without her. By talking out his feelings through conversation, Guy de Vere finally accepts the loss of his bride to be, showing the power that one conversation can have on someone s life. In Poe s poem, he uses structure and sound devices to show that after the loss of a loved one, one may attribute the death to others, but with consolation and care from others, he or she will make peace with the ... Although the motive of the book was to explore both sides of the dilemma in a neutral manner, Colson fails to offer an equally balanced content. His usage of extreme evidence, events that are very rare, does not support his main point as much. This severe damage will be evident in an obvious lack of muscular coordination and mobility; the bird might also hold its head at an unnatural angles.
