Building Effect Teamwork
MADS_6696: Building Effect Teams Midterm Spring 2017
Introduction
For an effective workplace, teamwork is the primary need for business. A team can be trained to be
efficient in a group to help each other and maximize the group s productivity. Hence, for a business s
success, the teamwork plays a vital role in business and development of each of its employees. Such
workplace discipline and teamwork are vital for a business and its success. Hence, an organization
should encourage team growth in the business to bring out the best of people at work (Knell, 2011).
Nevertheless, Teamwork suggests the following as well:

Analysis Of HRM And Organizational Performance
There are a few theories supporting the act of HRM. Two of these theories; Resource based View and
Ability and Motivation and Opportunity theories give off an impression of being the most well known
theoretical frameworks used in the studies that connect HRM and organizational performance. The
Resource Based View (RBV) theory which mixes ideas from organizational economics (Penrose,
1959) and strategic management (Barney, 1991) has it that HRM conveys included worth through the
strategic development of the organization s rare, significant, difficult to emulate and difficult to
substitute HR. The RBV sets up that competitive advantage no more lies in regular assets, technology

To adapt to the today s learning based economy, the organization create and support human capital fit
as a fiddle of aptitudes, knowledge, capabilities, states of mind and interpersonal connections to
accomplish required competitive advantage. Minbaeva (2005) characterized human resource
management Practices as set of practices and formal procedures utilized by organization to oversee
HR through reassuring the development of skills that are firm particular, produce complex social
relations and create organizational knowledge to maintain competitive advantage. The literature
distinguished four distinctive ways to deal with create human resource management practices:
universal or best practice perspective (Huselid, 1995); contingency perspective (Schuler, 1989);
strategic human resource management practices perspective (Delery and Doty, 1996) and
configuration perspective. The universalistic or best practice perspective is sounded as the worldwide
and ordinarily seen human resource management practices. As indicated by survey of literature
(Kundu, 2003) taking into account universalistic perspective and generally seen, the selection and
compensation as human resource management practices are picked in the present

Sunset Howard Dishonesty Quotes
Sunset Boulevard is a film noir movie that was released in 1950. When looked at, the main character
Joe Gillis, portrayed by William Holden, can be seen as an anti hero. Joe shows his anti heroic
behavior in many ways. For example, he is dishonest, he uses the people around him, and he also is
only focused on elevating himself. One of the many examples of the dishonesty of Joe. One of the
most notable examples of his is when he meets Norma Desmond, portrayed by Gloria Swanson. He
starts out being noble by telling her that she should rethink let him look over the script, however, he
quickly becomes crooked. He tells her falsehoods to try and extort money out of her. This transforms
into him taking advantage of the situation.
He starts by taking advantage of Norma as the movie continues. Again, Joe starts being somewhat
noble by trying to tell Norma that he does not need to move into the house but stay at his apartment.
But, this changes when Norma tells him that everything has been paid for. He quickly drops the
argument and starts to live there. He also lets her buy him fancy suits and gifts without much if any
argument. It can also be seen that he is more concerned about the money and his elevating status ...

perks he has by staying there; a home theater, private pool, the famous people that have been there.

Interstate Highway System Pros And Cons
The Interstate Highway System
Construction of the Interstate Highway system began in the 1950 s. At this time the unemployment
rates in America were still high from the Great Depression, but automobiles were becoming more
popular and Americans started to move to the suburbs. The highways were built to make travel easier
and more affordable for the average American. The military would also benefit from from highways
by being able to travel quickly across the country in an emergency.
Roads before the Interstate Highway System were not safe and many accidents occured. Deaths
totaled around 40,000 and nearly 1.3 million people were injured every year. (Weingroff). In 1956,
President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Federal Aid Highway Act . (Take a Field Trip Through the
1950s.) He also felt that the Interstate Highway System would decrease accidents, save time and
money, and help businesses. The Highway was referred to as a public works project on a massive
scale and make work because employment rates in the country were extremely unstable at the time.
(Weingroff)

automobile production increased. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Membrane Distillation
Chapter One
Introduction
1.1 Introduction
The demand of clean water has always been a major universal concern and this issue is becoming
more urgent with the expectation of water deficiency to an alarming rate by the year 2025. Hence,
there are needs a new technologies for desalination and wastewater treatments, to meet the
requirement water demands with credible and affordable water sources. [Teoh and Chung, 2009] (1)
Desalination is a process in which saline water is separated into two parts using different forms of
energy. One that has a low con centration of dissolved salts (fresh water), and the other which has a
much higher concentration of dissolved salts than the original feed water (brine concentrate).[ Shatat
et al., 2013]

Figure 1 1: Transport mechanism of membrane distillation
1.3 The advantages and disadvantages of membrane distillation
The membrane distillation process offers some benefits compared to other separation processes [
Pangarkar et al., 2011, Alcheikhhamdon et al., 2015](4):
1. Operating at lower temperature than the boiling point of feed solution.
2. Can be performed at lower operating pressure compared to pressure driven separation processes,
resulting in reduced costs for the process and membrane.
3. Reduced vapor spaces.
4. Unlimited by high osmotic pressure and fouling.
5. Permits very high separation factor of non volatile Solute.
6. Producing very high purity water.
7. Can use any form of low grade waste heat or coupled with solar energy systems which makes it
attractive for production of drinkable water from brackish water.
8. Minimization of corrosion troubles that could occur due to interactions between process solutions
and membranes.
9. Probability of combining membrane processes with other separation process (hybrid system).
10. Easy scale up with no requirements of additives.
The main disadvantage of MD process is [Teoh and Chung, 2009, Alcheikhhamdon et al.,

The Third Industrial Revolution
The danger is that employees in high skilled, like blue collar manufacturing jobs will be displaced by
using machines before the dust of the third industrial revolution. Today, for example, a patient in
Washington may have his MRI sent digitally to, say, India, where a highly skilled radiologist reads the
scan at a quarter of the cost of what a Washington radiologist earns. How long before a computer can
read those images faster, cheaper and better than that Indian radiologist can? The third industrial
revolution, additionally correspond with different systematic changes taking places in the economy. As
an example, a revolution is additionally under way in the transportation which is being revolutionized

Behavioral Treatments For Substance Use Disorders
Despite advances in pharmacotherapies over the last few decades, behavioral treatments remain an
important component, and often the only evidenced based component, for the treatment of various
substance use disorders. Among those with the strongest level of empirical support from randomized
clinical trials are 1) contingency management, where abstinence or other targeted outcomes are
reinforced with incentives (Higgins et al., 1991; Petry, 2006), 2) cognitive behavioral therapy, which
teaches specific strategies and skills to reduce substance use (Carroll et al., 1994), and 3) motivational
interviewing, where a specific, nonjudgmental interviewing style is used to enhance motivation and
harness the patient s capacity for change (Hettema et al., 2005; Miller, 1985). However, despite the
established efficacy of behavioral treatments for substance use disorders, their widespread efficacy is
hampered by the considerable cost and resources needed for successful implementation. Thus, more
efficient ways to implement behavioral treatments are needed and in an effort to do so, it is important
to better understand how and when the treatments work. This information can then be used to
maximize the effects and develop a more targeted approach. One strategy is through understanding the
cognitive mechanisms underlying the effectiveness of behavioral treatments, which can ultimately be
used to develop cognitive enhancement based interventions to supplement standard behavioral
therapies.

The Colonization Of The Algonquins In North India
Port Royal was the first post under the control of the Catholic French colony of Acadia. From this
location the French were able to impact northeast Canada and America to the Great Lakes and down
the Mississippi River. The French came into contact with many different tribes. One of the most
powerful and diverse groups was the Algonquins. They were composed of many different groups. The
French successfully interacted with the Abenaki, who were part of the Algonquin. They lived in settled
villages with cultivated land for farms and were peaceable. Father Peter Biard helped with the care of
the Native Americans in this area. With great difficulty Father Biard landed at Port Royal and set his
mind to learning the language of the surrounding tribes. However, he was not highly welcomed by the
French in the area and struggled for the basic necessities to even survive, which caused him to move
to a different location. He turned his attention to the Kennebec River and soon planted the cross and
gave it the name of the Holy Saviour. While the mission was being established he ventured into the
interior. Father Biard heard crying which was from a sick little Indian boy. He rushed to baptize the
boy before he died with the permission of his father. He then prayed to the Great Father to save the
boy, which happened. Father Biard by this wonder of saving the boy gained their interest and
attention. However, the mission was destroyed. It was not until the Franciscans came into the area
later when they established a new mission by the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. Patience was a key
factor in the missions as they had to deal with many obstacles and barriers to overcome. Father Paul
Le Jeune writes about this struggle, If you wish to converse, in order to instruct them, it will
sometimes be necessary to wait whole hours before finding opportunity to say to them at the right time
one profitable word; and after all your pains and your visits, a dream, which is, properly speaking, the
God of the country, will undo more in one night than you will have accomplished in thirty days; and
you may, indeed, as your sole reward, get a stroke from the hatchet or arrow (FPL 4) The French

Antecedent Intervention Strategies Analysis
The two strategies identified are effective strategies. Education has always acknowledged and
recognized the connection between an individual s behavior and their surrounding environment.
Antecedent intervention strategies aim at introducing modifications so that incidents occurring before
the problem occurs are either removed or altered in some way such that they no longer prompt the
problems and can even extend to increasing the likelihoods of the desired behavior (Kern Clemens,
2007). This strategy has several layers, as at the universal level it can focus on organizing the
environment to avert problems and increase motivation. This then creates a safe environment but also
creates a conducive environment which supports learning. This strategy tends to have an instant ...

It also targets specific skills, which means when the teacher is clearly aware of the targeted behaviour
and the objectives of the strategy, which makes it easier for teachers to assess and adapt the strategy.
The other advantage is that the child does experience confusion in understanding the aim of the lesson
and the behaviour that is expected of them. DI not only teaches the child new skills but also provides
the child with several opportunities to review and practice these skills in different settings. Mitchell
(2014) says the plasticity of the developing brain allows children to learn new things when the child
reviews and practices these newly learnt skills and over a period of time gain confidence in using it.
The brain makes new connections to the surviving structure and strengthens the connections. This is
especially important as children in their early years are in their prime to learn specific emotional skills,
which will impact their behavioural skills. Having positive experiences and opportunities to practice
these skills strengthens the experience and enhances the

The Effect Of Transfer Pricing On Shareholders Of...
Transfer pricing assist companies in allocating their profits among the various countries in which they
operate. However, we found that in recent years, multinational corporations have been taking
advantage of the arm s length principle to transfer intellectual property that is difficult to value in
order to avoid taxes in high tax jurisdictions. This poses an ethical dilemma for executives of
corporations on whether or not they are paying their fair share of taxes and raises the question on how
the U.S. government can reform the current system in place to encourage companies to behave
ethically.
We examine the effects of transfer pricing on shareholders of multinational corporations and the
United States government through a case study on Apple. Apple was able to successfully dodge
billions of taxes in the U.S. through the use of aggressive transfer pricing with their Irish subsidiaries.
We found that Apple was never fined by the IRS because they were exploiting a loophole in the arm s
length principle. While shareholders stand to profit from aggressive transfer pricing practices, they
must be aware of the risk that aggressive transfer pricing imposes and be aware of companies
motivations and morals for engaging in transfer pricing.
The negative financial effects on the government were evident and we propose a three part solution to
restructure the rules for transfer pricing to promote multinationals to act morally. First, we propose
that the IRS get rid of the

Dangers Of Deforestation
Why Deforestation Should Stop and How It Affects the Environment?
Today one of the biggest ecological problems is Deforestation. For instance, every year the rainforests
are slowly disappearing due to deforestation which is the permanent clearing of earth s forests on a
massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land in order to make the land available
for other uses. This can be done legally and illegally. There are many reasons why trees are remove
from a forest. Some of these reasons are to cover needs or to make a profit. However, the biggest
causes of deforestation are agricultural, logging operations and growth of urban zones. Often, small
farmers will clear a few acres by cutting down trees and burning them in a process known as slash and
burn agriculture. Some are caused by a combination of human and natural factors like wildfires and
subsequent overgrazing, which may prevent the growth of young trees. Logging operations, which
provide the world s wood and paper products, also cut countless trees each year. Loggers, some of
them acting illegally, also build roads to access more remote forests which leads to further
deforestation. Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world s land area and extend throughout half
the size of most countries but, many are lost each year (Live Science).
Stopping deforestation can significantly address numerous challenges including the protection of
millions of animal and plant species, reducing global warming,

Redwood Library Essay
In the United States, public buildings, such as libraries, banks, or government buildings, tie into the
towns and cities they are helping in the community. The aesthetic for many of these public buildings
follow a similar pattern based on neoclassicism elements. A great example to the start of this trend in
public building aesthetic is the Redwood Library in Newport, RI designed by Peter Harrison. I picked
this building because of its aesthetic and architecture. The Redwood Library was the start of the use of
neoclassicism elements that began to influence future public buildings and properties of its time. The
American colonial library was completed in 1750 and followed at Georgian architecture design. This
design consisted of merging of architectural aspects from pattern books mainly from Greek and
Roman origins (Zawadzki). The Redwood Library itself was based on a Roman Doric temple in
Andrea Palladio s Architecture. There are doric order columns with a portico and wings with a very
triangle looking roof (Craven). Although based on designs made of concrete and stone, the ... Show

Essay on Mass Media Coverage of Presidential Election
Mass media coverage of the U.S. presidential election involves two key elements news reporting and
paid advertising. Combined they make the media an important and influential factor in the election
process. The media depends upon the campaigns for both news and revenues. The candidates then rely
upon the media to get in touch with the largest number of voters possible. The Media has a very
powerful and justifiable role
(Fullerton 1) to play in presidential elections and can actually dictate a campaign agenda. It is the
media s job to sort of be the watchdog

Such shows really impact the viewing audience due to the voters chance at speaking directly to the
candidate and expressing their own views. (Gorin 1)
The presidential debates are probably the most important media events covered in a campaign because
voters can see how candidates react in stressful situations and can read numerous articles analyzing
the debate after they occur. The debates basically allow the candidates to go head to head with one
another and see who can handle themselves more efficiently and who has the most going for them.
As far as coverage, newspapers usually provide more material to the campaign than does television,
due to the large amount of reporters able to cover the campaign as well as less cost and time restraints
as TV.
Newspapers also have the benefit of corrective journalism (Gorin 2).
Instead of printing a candidate s statement one day, an oppositions rebuttal the next and a related
opinion piece the third day, journalists have the capability to include charges, countercharges,
background research and analysis all in the same article.
However, Louis Wolfson, a professor at American University says In a larger sense, I don t think the
media sent the agenda for a campaign he said.
I think the politicians do, because they try to campaign on the issues they are going to be most
successful with and to avoid the ones

Political analysis The political factors differ from country to country. During difficult times of

because the essays were lacking in detail and had Type One errors. She stated that revision is
important and that could help bring up the grades on the essays. The students had mixed reactions

Since the 1990 s, Spain has entered the global market to claim its position as a high quality value wine
producer (www.winesfromspain.com). Spain s rich wine history together with it s relatively new
global market entry and cost leadership strategy makes an interesting blend of old world and new
world characteristics. State of the Industry Wine is a significant part of Spain s cultural identity and
economy. The sector represents Spain s third largest agriculture crop after cereals and olives, and it
leads the world in vineyard land with 1.16 million hectares (www.foodswinesfromspain.com).
However, most the land is arid and sparsely planted. Yet, it holds third position globally in wine
volume produced (Rubio, 2010). Although Spain has a traditional wine and food culture, domestic
consumption continues to decline. The decreased consumption is attributed to strict drunk driving

Minister s Black Veil Allegory
Analysis of Hawthorne s Use of Allegory An allegory is a literary tool in which characters, events, and
setting represent something spiritual or abstract, and, when used properly, an allegory can greatly
portray an idea under the guise of something material and tangible. American writer Nathaniel
Hawthorne shaped an entire career on the use of allegories in order to portray his disdain of Puritan
ideology; however, his use of this literary device did not come without scrutiny and criticism. Other
American authors like Edgar Allan Poe criticized Hawthorne s allegories. Like how Poe revealed his
antipathy towards the literary tool in his critique of Twice Told Tales and professed that Hawthorne is
a writer of truest genius but lacks the skills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hawthorne was very critical of Puritan ideas, he even wrote a novel known as The Scarlet Letter in
which he uses a scarlet letter A for adulterer to symbolize the sin of Hester Prynne and is the cause of
Prynne s ostracization. Hawthorne did not like the idea that there was an elect or set group of people
chosen by God to go to Heaven, whereas the rest are left to burn in Hell. Thus, Hawthorne used the
image of Hooper s black veil to show the possibility of sin in even the purest of chosen ones and to

American Education Vs Japanese Education Essay
Education is such an important institution in the society that has a huge impact on the younger
generation. A well performing education system continuously requires the process of analyzing and
reforming. However, it still remains that not every country does the same to satisfy this process to
improve its educational system. As a consequence, some countries have better education systems than
others. In the present days, Japan is one of the countries that has the best education systems based on
the excellent scores their students get in international competitions in math, science, and reading.
American students achievement in these competitions is far behind Japanese students . The differences
in many aspects such as the school structure, educational motivation of the younger generation, and
culture between the two education systems cause huge differences in academic achievement, so

Piracy Of The Uk And Us
Piracy in the UK US
6. Write about on line piracy in the UK and the US; what type of property is stolen through on line
piracy and how do courts in the UK and US deal with offences involving on line piracy?
The relevant definition of piracy: The unauthorized use of another s production, invention, or
conception especially in infringement of a copyright. (Merriam Webster, 2015).
But not all infringement of copyright is a criminal offense, the Copyright act states a few specific
offences, most of them to do with if the culprit is making a profit or not, but it is a misconception that
all copying without consent is illegal, 16(3) (a) in the act states to infringe copyright, copying must be

This led to the UK decriminalizing on line piracy and instead they implemented an alert system where
letters will be sent to anyone suspected of piracy, the letters are non threatening with no presence of
repercussions should they continue. The letters sent to suspected infringers must be educational in
tone, promoting an increase in awareness of legal downloading services. A maximum of four alerts by
either email or physical letter can be sent to an individual customer account. Language will escalate in
severity but will not contain threats or talk of consequences for the accused users. (Lee, 2014), after
these 4 alert nothing else will be done.
This statement from the government makes it seem like they have given up on on line piracy, or they
lack the sufficient resources to do anything substantial, their main target is the providers of this illegal
service, the distributors and website owners of this easily obtainable free media software.
The makers and distributors of this on line pirated material if found guilty can be charged as follows:
Upon conviction the guilty party will receive a 6 months and/or a £50,000 fine.
If their case is gross and multiple offensives have been made repeatedly then the indictment is 10

The Cause Of The Pueblo Revolt Of 1680
The cause of the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 has brought up a substantial amount of controversy between
historians. Several historians took the preserved historical documents and gathered information from
oral history to try and piece together the reason why the Pueblos revolted to begin with. Some
historians point to religion as the sole cause, while others say it required the right leader, and still
others point to the racial segregation and mixture of the Pueblos and Spanish blood as the cause of the
revolt. While each historian has his own viewpoint, it is important to look into the reasons why each
come to their own specific conclusions and determine if their argument is a biased or a balanced
perspective. The main things to consider are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the course of eighty years however, the Pueblos were able to learn the ways of the Spaniards
such as battle tactics, food storage, crop cultivation, and building up immunity to the diseases that
nearly eradicated their ancestors. When the drought and famine came during the time leading up to
1680, the Spaniards were likely becoming weaker and the Pueblos, an equally formidable force to
their own manpower. Therefore, when 1680 came around, it was prime time for the Pueblos to revolt
and gain back the freedom that their ancestors had once enjoyed. But not only that, because the
Spaniards could no longer protect the Pueblos from the Apache raids and promise them basic needs
like food and shelter, they felt that gaining their own dependence back and standing on their own feet
again was an option that was within reach. Garner points out that it was not likely that the Pueblos
were planning a revolt for the eighty years that they were in captivity, but it could have very well been
in the back of their minds. The year 1680 might have been the most ideal time for them to rise up
against the Spaniards. After explaining the main reason for the revolt, Garner goes on to focus on two
of the main arguments opposing his own. Unlike other historians, Garner ascertains that religion and
the harsh oppression of the Spanish were not sole causes of the revolt. To build his case, throughout
his paper, he compares

The Role Of External Environment On Firms
The influence of external environment on firms activities and survival has been extensively
investigated over the last several years (Barkema, Bell, Pennings, 1996; Fagre Wells Jr, 1982; Holburn
Zelner, 2010; Kostova Roth, 2002). In corporate governance literature, external constituents, such as,
government, institutional investors, security analyst, etc. exert pressure on firms so that they act in the
interest of key stakeholders. While financial stakeholders have been given more attention by scholars,
non financial stakeholders have received relatively less attention. Although firms have been under
increasing media scrutiny in recent years, the role of media in influencing the legitimacy of
multinational firms in emerging economies has been understudied. This paper addresses how news
media affects MNE performance in the host country by influencing subsidiary managers ties with host
country business and political environments.
Scholars have been attempting to unearth the effects of media on the public for quite a few years.
Researchers have recognized that the effects of media are distinctive and indirect. The media has been
so influential in the recent year that it can influence people about what to think (Wanta, Golan, Lee,
2004). According to McCombs and Shaw (1972), the most important influence of media is the agenda
setting perspective about issues that are deemed most important. Therefore, media campaigns that are

Evaluate two (2) key changes in the selected company s management style from the company s
inception to the current day. Indicate whether or not you believe the company is properly managed.
Provide support for your position.
A management style is a complete process of leadership used by managers within Coca Cola. The
success that the management team at Coca Cola has in inspiring its employees to meet their objectives
is built on the management style they adopted. There are three main management styles that Coca
Cola use, which are democratic, autocratic and the laissez faire style.
The democratic leadership style consists of the leader, sharing the decision making skills with the
group associates by encouraging the benefits of the group members and by practicing social fairness.
This stresses on group agreements to produce new ideas. Democratic happens when all managers,
junior managers and employees are involved in the idea and the final decision process. Democratic
style is the management style that Coca Cola has adopted, which involves empowerment, and allows
individuals and teams the responsibility of decision making, usually within a given framework. The
authoritarian leadership style keeps strict, close control over its followers by keeping close regulation
of the policies and procedures given to the followers.
The laissez faire style is sometimes described

grandmother had given it to me for protection when I was fourteen. She cautioned me of the strong

Ionic Compounds And Molecular Compounds
Introduction: Ionic compounds and molecular compounds are very different. These differences can be
used to distinguish one from another by using the main properties for each compound. For example, if
a substance could not conduct electricity and had low melting points, it would be labeled as a
molecular compound since those properties correspond directly with the properties of a molecular
compound. If a substance was able to conduct electricity and had high melting points, it would be
labeled as a ionic compound because those properties correspond directly with the properties of an
ionic compound. The differences in whether a substance has the ability to conduct electricity or not
and whether it has high or low melting temperatures can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Covalent compounds are the opposite. Instead, covalent bonds can melt very fast under heat. Also,
covalent compounds are not good conductors of electricity, whether in solid or liquid form. If you
have a substance, you can verify whether its an ionic compound or a covalent compound by seeing
whether it s a metal nonmetal relationship or nonmetal nonmetal relationship. The objective of the
experiment is to find out which of the known substances were ionic compounds and which were
molecular compounds based on their properties. We predict that the compounds with high melting
points and conduction of electricity would be ionic compounds because those are the specific
properties of an ionic compound. The compounds with low melting points and no conduction of
electricity would be covalent compounds because those are the specific properties of a covalent
compound. The solubility of the six compounds were checked when each compound was mixed in
water and the conductivity of electricity was tested with the electrodes. High and low melting points
were tested by putting different substances above a flame and seeing how long it took to melt. It was
found that three mystery compounds were ionic compounds while the other three mystery compounds
were molecular compounds. Materials and Methods : Before the experiment was initiated, qualitative
observations were taken for all six mystery compounds and recorded. Necessary precautions like

What did you observe when the popsicle sticks were placed into the bunsen burner flame? Depending
on the compound on the popsicle stick, the reactions emitted lights of all different colors which shows
the amount of energy released on the color scale. 2. Each compound use consists of a metal
component and a nonmetal component. In other words, in lithium chloride, the lithium component was
the metal and chloride component was the nonmetal. Which of the two components do you think
determined the color emitted by the popsicle stick? How does your data support your answer? I think
the metal component produced the color emitted. For example copper nitrate, and copper sulfate
produced the same color as each other. 3. Write a four step process of electron excitation. Electron

The Nasa Space Flight Center Essay
The Goddard Space Flight Center states that there are 2,271 artificial satellites currently in space
orbiting the earth. An artificial satellite is a hand made machine that orbits the planet earth to help in
many different ways in communications, documenting information, sending and receiving signals. A
satellite is a moon, planet, or a machine that orbit a planet or a star. There are many types of satellites
and each one is used for different reasons. Some satellites are used to send and receive television
signals. Some other satellites are used in communications by making it possible to send and receive
signals from phones, fax, internet and computers to people all over the world. Other satellites are used
in forecasting by giving information about the earth s weather to scientists. Also, there is another type
of satellites that take accurate picture of earth to show the environmental situation such as resources,
pollution and statistics of crops and water (NOAA, 2014). Satellites improved a lot in the daily life
uses such as weather forecasting, documenting information, communication and positioning systems.
The idea of satellites The development of the invention started in 1952 when the International Council
of Scientific Unions decided to start a project named International Geophysical Year which started on
July1, 1957 and ended on December31, 1958. They put in considerations to launch the artificial
satellite in this year for mapping earth s surface (Verma, 2012).

Industrialisation On The Structure Of The Family
The Effects of Industrialisation on the Structure of the Family
The pre industrial family was said to be an extended family consisting of three generations, the
children, parents and the grandparents. The family would all work together in the farms to help
provide for the entire families needs, children as young a 5 or 6 would have been found work to do.
However this was until the Industrial revolution when factories become the main source of work and

other resources were commonly owned by a range of relatives that extended well beyond the unit of
the nuclear family. It was very common for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parsons believed that the separation of extended families caused nuclear families to be formed in order
to take advantage of the new job opportunities that had been brought about. He also argued that the
second fundamental change to the family was that they no longer needed to produce their own
materials and food as specialised agencies gradually took over and the home and workplace became
separate as people became wage earners. The state eventually took over the functions of education,
health and welfare and so consequently the nuclear family was able to specialise in child centred
functions like socialisation. Thirdly Parson also argued that the new nuclear unit provided the husband
and wife with very cleaver social roles. The man was the instrumental leader , who was responsible
for the economic welfare of the family group, and goes out and earns money, while the female was
seen as the expressive leader , primarily responsible for the socialisation of the children and the
emotional care and support of family members. Parsons concluded that only the nuclear family could
effectively provide the achievement orientation and geographically mobile workforce required by
modern societies and that there is a functional fit between the extended family and pre industrial

politician who advocated this method. Bacon was a believer in new ideas and he argued against
traditional and religious belief. Bacon published one of his work called Novum Organum which

William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar Essay
Power is a highly coveted mistress. She is sought after by senators, presidents, kings, and emperors.
Most of them willing to do whatever it takes to get her. The history of this world is overrun with
conflict and war as different parties compete for her hand. There are those that will obtain her by
physical force on the battlefield, while others seduce her to their side through sweet persuasion.
However, the act of obtaining power is nothing compared to the work of keeping her. Power is an
unfaithful mistress, in need of constant wooing. In William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, the battle for
power is always in a state of flux, constantly changing hands. Though the players in this play
sometimes use physical force to obtain power, it is persuasion and manipulation that have the strong
hold on her. Through close examination of this text, the use of persuasion and manipulation in
obtaining and maintaining power will be explored. When the play first opens there is a celebration in
the streets because Julius Caesar has proven victorious over Pompey in battle. However, this action is
quickly rebuffed by tribunes Flavius and Marullus, who are quick to remind the plebeians that they
once loved Pompey:
O you hard hearts, you cruel men of Rome,
Knew you not Pompey? Many a time and oft
Have you climbed up to walls and battlements
To towers and windows, yea, to chimney tops,
Your infants in your arms, and there have sat
The livelong day, with patient expectation,
To see great Pompey

This information is analyzed in the context of global and regional trade after the creation of the WTO.

participation. Participation in bilateral and regional agreements and export and import trends are also
discussed to evaluate the impact of trade in both Qatar and Yemen.
Economic, Political, and Social Backgrounds of Qatar and Yemen
The Middle Eastern country Qatar, which borders Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf, gained its
independence as a British protectorate in 1971. The country s main revenue resource shifted from
pearls to oil when reserves were discovered in 1939. Oil revenues allowed the government to fund
large infrastructure and modernization projects. Corruption was rampant as Emir Tamim bin Hamad
Al Thani used oil revenues for personal gain. His son Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani overthrew his
father in 1995. Emir Hamad helped resolve disputes over border issues with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia
in the 2000s. In 2013, he abdicated the position to his son Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the current
Emir of Qatar. The new government has not exhibited any radical

Spinach 7ab Experiment
7ab.Results (Joey)
We had three sets of ten spinach chads that were submerged in CO2 water and put under different
wattages of light: forty, seventy five, and one hundred . Chads under the forty wattage only had six
rise out of ten, chads under the seventy five wattage light had all ten rise, and chads under the one
hundred wattage light had all ten rise under ten minutes.
8a. Conclusion (Kendall) In conclusion, our hypothesis is supported. Our hypothesis is supported
because we predicted the 100 watt bulb will make the chads arise faster than the 40 watt and 75 watt
bulb will. Our hypothesis was correct. Data on the chart of the number of chads that floated within
each minute, shows that within the sixth minute, all of the chads were ... Show more content on

In the first method it says we need a leaf, boiling water, alcohol, iodine, a beaker, and a heat source.
First we put the leaf in the boiling water to soften the cell walls, next we put the leaf in a test tube and
cover it with alcohol and place the test tube back in the boiling water, this removes the chlorophyll s
pigmentation, then we place the leaf on a petri dish and cover it in iodine. For the second method we
feed the plant with radioactive carbon dioxide, The radioactive carbon atoms have become part of the
structure of the plant. This shows that the plant absorbed the radioactive carbon.

Photosynthesis is plants taking in water, carbon dioxide, and light to produce sugar and oxygen. It is
required for the air I breath to contain 19.5 percent of oxygen concentration. It is vital to my health to
have the proper amount of oxygen for survival. For example, if the percentage of oxygen in the air
drops to 16 percent and I were to engage in physical activity it will cause my cells to fail receiving
oxygen. This will lead to my cells not functioning properly. Mental functions may also be impaired

When looked at, the main character Joe Gillis, portrayed by William Holden, can be seen as an anti hero. Joe shows his anti heroic behavior in many ways. At this time the unemployment rates in America were still high from the Great Depression, but automobiles were becoming more popular and Americans started to move to the suburbs. • 8. Behavioral Treatments For Substance Use Disorders Despite advances in pharmacotherapies over the last few decades, behavioral treatments remain an important component, and often the only evidenced based component, for the treatment of various substance use disorders. Among those with the strongest level of empirical support from randomized clinical trials are 1) contingency management, where abstinence or other targeted outcomes are reinforced with incentives (Higgins et al., 1991; Petry, 2006), 2) cognitive behavioral therapy, which teaches specific strategies and skills to reduce substance use (Carroll et al., 1994), and 3) motivational interviewing, where a specific, nonjudgmental interviewing style is used to enhance motivation and harness the patient s capacity for change (Hettema et al., 2005; Miller, 1985). However, despite the established efficacy of behavioral treatments for substance use disorders, their widespread efficacy is hampered by the considerable cost and resources needed for successful implementation. Thus, more efficient ways to implement behavioral treatments are needed and in an effort to do so, it is important to better understand how and when the treatments work. This information can then be used to maximize the effects and develop a more targeted approach. One strategy is through understanding the cognitive mechanisms underlying the effectiveness of behavioral treatments, which can ultimately be used to develop cognitive enhancement based interventions to supplement standard behavioral therapies. ... • 9. The Colonization Of The Algonquins In North India Port Royal was the first post under the control of the Catholic French colony of Acadia. From this location the French were able to impact northeast Canada and America to the Great Lakes and down the Mississippi River. The French came into contact with many different tribes. One of the most powerful and diverse groups was the Algonquins. They were composed of many different groups. The French successfully interacted with the Abenaki, who were part of the Algonquin. They lived in settled villages with cultivated land for farms and were peaceable. Father Peter Biard helped with the care of the Native Americans in this area. With great difficulty Father Biard landed at Port Royal and set his mind to learning the language of the surrounding tribes. However, he was not highly welcomed by the French in the area and struggled for the basic necessities to even survive, which caused him to move to a different location. He turned his attention to the Kennebec River and soon planted the cross and gave it the name of the Holy Saviour. While the mission was being established he ventured into the interior. Father Biard heard crying which was from a sick little Indian boy. He rushed to baptize the boy before he died with the permission of his father. He then prayed to the Great Father to save the boy, which happened. Father Biard by this wonder of saving the boy gained their interest and attention. However, the mission was destroyed. It was not until the Franciscans came into the area later when they established a new mission by the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. Patience was a key factor in the missions as they had to deal with many obstacles and barriers to overcome. Father Paul Le Jeune writes about this struggle, If you wish to converse, in order to instruct them, it will sometimes be necessary to wait whole hours before finding opportunity to say to them at the right time one profitable word; and after all your pains and your visits, a dream, which is, properly speaking, the God of the country, will undo more in one night than you will have accomplished in thirty days; and you may, indeed, as your sole reward, get a stroke from the hatchet or arrow (FPL 4) The French continued to contribute to the settlement of ... Education has always acknowledged and recognized the connection between an individual s behavior and their surrounding environment. Antecedent intervention strategies aim at introducing modifications so that incidents occurring before the problem occurs are either removed or altered in some way such that they no longer prompt the problems and can even extend to increasing the likelihoods of the desired behavior (Kern Clemens, 2007). • 11. The Effect Of Transfer Pricing On Shareholders Of... Transfer pricing assist companies in allocating their profits among the various countries in which they operate. However, we found that in recent years, multinational corporations have been taking advantage of the arm s length principle to transfer intellectual property that is difficult to value in order to avoid taxes in high tax jurisdictions. This poses an ethical dilemma for executives of corporations on whether or not they are paying their fair share of taxes and raises the question on how the U.S. government can reform the current system in place to encourage companies to behave ethically. We examine the effects of transfer pricing on shareholders of multinational corporations and the United States government through a case study on Apple. Apple was able to successfully dodge billions of taxes in the U.S. through the use of aggressive transfer pricing with their Irish subsidiaries. We found that Apple was never fined by the IRS because they were exploiting a loophole in the arm s length principle. While shareholders stand to profit from aggressive transfer pricing practices, they must be aware of the risk that aggressive transfer pricing imposes and be aware of companies motivations and morals for engaging in transfer pricing. The negative financial effects on the government were evident and we propose a three part solution to restructure the rules for transfer pricing to promote multinationals to act morally. First, we propose that the IRS get rid of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, every year the rainforests are slowly disappearing due to deforestation which is the permanent clearing of earth s forests on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land in order to make the land available for other uses. This can be done legally and illegally. There are many reasons why trees are remove from a forest. Some of these reasons are to cover needs or to make a profit. However, the biggest causes of deforestation are agricultural, logging operations and growth of urban zones. Often, small farmers will clear a few acres by cutting down trees and burning them in a process known as slash and burn agriculture. Some are caused by a combination of human and natural factors like wildfires and subsequent overgrazing, which may prevent the growth of young trees. Logging operations, which provide the world s wood and paper products, also cut countless trees each year. Loggers, some of them acting illegally, also build roads to access more remote forests which leads to further deforestation. Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world s land area and extend throughout half the size of most countries but, many are lost each year (Live Science). Thus, Hawthorne used the image of Hooper s black veil to show the possibility of sin in even the purest of chosen ones and to combat the idea that certain people are worthier than ... A well performing education system continuously requires the process of analyzing and reforming. However, it still remains that not every country does the same to satisfy this process to improve its educational system. As a consequence, some countries have better education systems than others. In the present days, Japan is one of the countries that has the best education systems based on the excellent scores their students get in international competitions in math, science, and reading. American students achievement in these competitions is far behind Japanese students . Several historians took the preserved historical documents and gathered information from oral history to try and piece together the reason why the Pueblos revolted to begin with. Some historians point to religion as the sole cause, while others say it required the right leader, and still others point to the racial segregation and mixture of the Pueblos and Spanish blood as the cause of the revolt. Over the course of eighty years however, the Pueblos were able to learn the ways of the Spaniards such as battle tactics, food storage, crop cultivation, and building up immunity to the diseases that nearly eradicated their ancestors. When the drought and famine came during the time leading up to 1680, the Spaniards were likely becoming weaker and the Pueblos, an equally formidable force to their own manpower. Therefore, when 1680 came around, it was prime time for the Pueblos to revolt and gain back the freedom that their ancestors had once enjoyed. But not only that, because the Spaniards could no longer protect the Pueblos from the Apache raids and promise them basic needs like food and shelter, they felt that gaining their own dependence back and standing on their own feet again was an option that was within reach. Garner points out that it was not likely that the Pueblos were planning a revolt for the eighty years that they were in captivity, but it could have very well been in the back of their minds. The year 1680 might have been the most ideal time for them to rise up against the Spaniards. After explaining the main reason for the revolt, Garner goes on to focus on two of the main arguments opposing his own. Unlike other historians, Garner ascertains that religion and the harsh oppression of the Spanish were not sole causes of the revolt. To build his case, throughout his paper, he compares ... In corporate governance literature, external constituents, such as, government, institutional investors, security analyst, etc. exert pressure on firms so that they act in the interest of key stakeholders. While financial stakeholders have been given more attention by scholars, non financial stakeholders have received relatively less attention. Covalent compounds are the opposite. Instead, covalent bonds can melt very fast under heat. Also, covalent compounds are not good conductors of electricity, whether in solid or liquid form. If you have a substance, you can verify whether its an ionic compound or a covalent compound by seeing whether it s a metal nonmetal relationship or nonmetal nonmetal relationship. The objective of the experiment is to find out which of the known substances were ionic compounds and which were molecular compounds based on their properties. We predict that the compounds with high melting points and conduction of electricity would be ionic compounds because those are the specific properties of an ionic compound. The compounds with low melting points and no conduction of electricity would be covalent compounds because those are the specific properties of a covalent compound. The solubility of the six compounds were checked when each compound was mixed in water and the conductivity of electricity was tested with the electrodes. High and low melting points were tested by putting different substances above a flame and seeing how long it took to melt. The state eventually took over the functions of education, health and welfare and so consequently the nuclear family was able to specialise in child centred functions like socialisation. Thirdly Parson also argued that the new nuclear unit provided the husband and wife with very cleaver social roles.
