My time in Banff brought about some amazing learning moments for me; some more direct than
others.
I will be sharing a couple of the ripple effect lessons I learned upon returning home. What I had
learned made me question further some of the concepts I had pondered before...one of them being
our need to be productive.
A large part of the reason why I was having trouble settling in and simply enjoying my time in
Banff was because I had an underlying need to be productive. Even though at a conscious level I
no longer buy into and accept that our time needs to be filled with productive pursuits (not to be
confused with purpose), at a subconscious level that belief was buried quite deep, and so my two
minds were struggling with each other.
We have been raised in a culture that highly values productivity, and that in itself wouldn t be such
a bad thing if we hadn t taken it to extremes. We have come to value ourselves based on how
productive we are, which has led us to be driven, to push ourselves, and to preserve under all
conditions...and if

Essay on Native American Ritual Dancing
Native American Ritual Dancing
It has often been said that the North American Indians dance out their religions (Vecsey 51). There
were two very important dances for the Sioux tribe, the Sun Dance and the Ghost Dance. Both
dances show the nature of Native American spirituality. The Ghost Dance and the Sun Dance were
two very different dances, however both promote a sense of community.
The Sun Dance was the most spectacular and important religious ceremony of the Plains Indians of
19th century North America (Lawrence 1). The Sun Dance became a time of renewal and
thanksgiving for Native Americans. Everyone had a role to play either in the preparation leading up
to the dance, or within the dance itself. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the conversation the Sioux woman has with the tree she explains why they are killing it, and
what their plans for the tree are. After the tree is cut down, it is not allowed to touch the ground.
McGaa states that the men can only set the tree down four times to rest on the way back to the
reservation (86).
There is an arena set up where the dancing and other activities will take place. Once the
cottonwood is brought back, the men place it in the center of this arena. Some fifty men then join
the group and raise the tree with rope. Four songs are sung four times to the each of the four
winds. Cloth banners representing the four directions are tied to the branches, and then two hides
are tied above the cloth (one in the shape of a human and the other of a buffalo).
The cutouts represent thankfulness. Twelve chokecherry branches are tied crosswise beneath the
buffalo and the human images. The branches symbolize the twelve moons, the twelve months of
the year (McGaa 86).
The same evening the dancers who will be pierced in the ceremony participate in a Sweat Lodge
ceremony.
On the first actual ceremonial day of the Sun Dance another Sweat Lodge is held for those men
and women who are going to participate in the dancing. A Sweat Lodge is believed to help heal a
person spiritually. Groups that participate in Sweat Lodges are supposed to gain empowerment.
The dancers then dress and prepare him or her self in the tipi. There is a traditional dress

Igor Fedorovich Stravinsky Research Paper
Igor Fedorovich Stravinsky was born in Oranienbaum, Russia in 1882. He was the son of
Fyodor Ignat evich Stravinsky. Igor Stravinsky is known as one of the best composers that
Russia has ever produced because of works such as Firebird, Rite of spring, and Petrushka.
Stravinsky Career was very interesting in that he was trained by one of the best composer of Russia,
he was taken to Paris, and he revolutionized music in his time.
Igor Stravinsky was introduce to music at an early age. His father was a bass singer in the local
opera house (White 3). He loved music since he was a baby. According to white he could
frequently hear his father, two room from his nursery practicing for a role (white). Even though his
father made a career out of music, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His first performance of Firebird was what put Stravinsky in the musical map. Even though the
ballet went well with the public, Stravinsky knew that he still needed to improve (Huizenga).
After the success of firebird, Diaghilev wanted Stravinsky to immediately start working on
another ballet. To his surprise, Stravinsky had already started working on a piece himself. This
piece would be unveiled in Paris France in 1911 as Petrushka. Petrushka in some ways shows
Stravinsky finally reaching the musical sound he desired. According to Teachout Stravinsky s
Petrushka, Herald a Complete change in the way musicians, and in particular creative musicians,
thought about music. It freed rhythm once and for all from old regularities, the old four bar
schemes, and allowed it to react directly to variations in the melodic phrase (Teachout 59). This
is what Stravinsky had been working towards all along. After his great success with Petrushka,
Stravinsky started working in what probable became his best known work Rite of spring. The
concept of Rite of Spring had been in Stravinsky s mind for a long time. He had this idea of
making a ballet about the pagan sacrifices that would occur during the beginning of spring. To show
this barbaric tradition, Stravinsky assembled an orchestra that went completely outside of the
traditional tonality and intensify the essence of dissonance (Vlad 31). Vlad says that

Buying A New Home Market
The choice to purchase a new home in today s market is very challenging to make after
considering the disadvantages and the advantages. The current real estate market decides that
today is the excellent time to buy a house as prices and the interest rate are still low. Sadly, many
economic signals reveal that the real estate market may not have reached the bottom yet and more
losses might be in store for the near future. The choice to buy real estate should be meticulously
considered and massively dependent upon the actions of the local real estate market neighboring
today s buyers and sellers. A lot of the main principles of economicssuch as trade offs; incentives
and opportunity cost directly relate to the home buying decision.... Show more content on

In this position, buyers have a provisional advantage over sellers because buyers can demand
incentives from sellers to close the transaction or find another agreeable seller. The opportunity
cost, or whatever someone is willing to give up in exchange for what he or she wants, is
typically basic because the buyer can simply find another house that meets his or her needs. The
opportunity cost for sellers in this market are typically very high as they may waste time with
buyers who do not intend to buy their property; time is very important to sellers, but not as
important to buyers in this type of market. Sellers are typically highly motivated to sell and can
easily become desperate to sell a home quickly in a buyer s market; buyers can easily take
advantage of a seller in trouble. In a seller s market, buyers stand to lose haggling power such as
seller improvements that could help buyers with closing costs because the number of homes
available for purchase isn t as many; buyers will have limited choices of homes for sale. In this
position, sellers have a provisional advantage over buyers because sellers can demand full price,
cash only, and zero incentive to close the transaction. The opportunity cost is typically essential for
sellers in this market because they can simply wait for the right buyer to bid on convenient homes

Barry Bonds and Steroids Essay
Have you noticed the size of Barry Bonds entire body over the past couple years? His muscles grew
big, and his endurance increased over time which allowed him to play baseball for as long as he
had. Barry Bonds was a baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants
for 21 years. He had to overcome some huge injuries, including a huge knee problem at the end
of his career. The only way that he was able to lift so much while he still was recovering is a
topic that has been discussed for a long time. Steroids are the only possible explanation. His era
of play included such players as Sammy Sosa, who was caught using a doctored bat during a game
and also Mark McGuwire, who has admitted to using steroids and performance... Show more

Then two years later, he resembled an NFL linebacker. He played in an era that many sports
writers have labeled The Steroid Era and with his sudden jump in production and size is a great
piece of evidence that should be held against him. His statistics over a three year span had
increased at such an amazing rate, one of the fastest rates in Major League history. Over the years
of 1996 thorough 1999, Barry Bonds averaged 35 home runs per year (Elias). But in 2000, Bonds
hit 49 home runs, then came out the next year and hit a record setting 73 home runs in a season,
which is a great indicator that he used performance enhancing drugs over this specific time (Elias).
The evidence that has been found and recorded on the topic of Bonds and performance enhancing
drugs is plentiful, and all of this information should be used against him in a movement to convict
him of robbing the game of baseball and hurting the structure of the game so many Americans
love and enjoy. Barry Bonds and steroid use continues to be a very hot topic in the professional
sports world. The history that Bonds erased from the game because of his drug use, especially
the records that he erased from all time greats such as Babe Ruth and Willie Mays, is a great deal
to the fans and historians of Major League Baseball. Barry Bonds broke two of the biggest and
most well known records in the Major Leagues. In 2001, Bonds broke the single season home run
record by hitting 73 home runs in one season,

The Powerful Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Essay
The Powerful Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
When Samuel Langhorne Clemens first published his story, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, he
was criticized severely. On top of that, the book was banned from libraries and schools alike. The
book was thought to be a bad influence on children because it represents the breaking of the law as
moral, it recommends disobedience and defiance on the part of young people, it portrays
churchgoers as hypocritical, and the most admirable characters in the book habitually lie and steal
and loaf (Johnson XII). In this day and time, though, the book has become required reading for
many schools, and is found in almost every library in the country. Why has there been a change in
attitude ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cruel thing about it is that slaves were people and they were sold like cattle. This peculiar
notion that one person can actually own another body and soul is supported not only by the law
and government, but by the church and religion as well (Johnson 110). I do not believe it is a
coincidence that Jim belongs to and is being sold down the river by the person in the novel who
makes the greatest show of her religion, Miss Watson (Poirier 91). A reflection of the religious
notions of the slaveholding society, which believes the Bible approves of slavery, is shown when
Huck thinks he hears the voice of God the plain hand of Providence telling him he should return
Miss Watson s property after they run away (Twain 208).
In Chapter 12 of Huckleberry Finn, Huck and Jim come across a rapidly sinking ship occupied
only by three dangerous thieves who are secretly plotting each other s demise (Crowley 76). The
ship, the Walter Scott, which eventually disappears beneath the waves, symbolizes the Old South
in its dying years as being dominated by thugs, thieves, and killers. The noble men involved with
a noble cause had died out and were no longer present (Johnson 177 178). This is the reason that
one cannot find a noble Southern gentleman in the story. Twain s satiric scorn of this failing
society is directed particularly at what was called the code of honor, a pattern of conduct that
incorporated both the love of

The Olympic Charter Which Marks The Beginning Of Modern...
If we analyze The Olympic Charter which marks the beginning of modern Olympics we will
realize that these events originally were based on a philosophy and certain principles. As it is
mentioned in fundamental principle 2: Olympism is a philosophy of life, exalting and combining
in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind. Blending sport with culture and
education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational
value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles. (Girginove et al
2005). From the above text it can be argued that the concept of Olympism does exist in the modern
world and has a slightly different significance than the ancient Olympic games. The present
philosophy revolves round the role of sport in the development of this world as it provides
international understanding and establishes social and moral values (Girginove et al 2005). It
has been understood that sporting events can act a medium that can bring nations together on a
single platform. The ideology of liberalism and equality was further incorporated by De
Coubertin who signifies the role of fairness, justice and respects for person which can be obtained
through Olympics (Girginove et al 2005). Now since we know the basis and founding principles
of both ancient and modern Olympic Games it is very clear that both of these events have many
unique social values. But I am still of my opinion that the social values placed

Presidential Election Of The United States
After almost two years on the campaign trail, the United States of America has finally elected its
new president, Donald Trump. No that is not a typo, this is real life. It was a hard fought battle
between Hillary Clinton and the Donald which ultimately lead to one of the most shocking upsets
in recent American politics. Being that the odds were heavily stacked against Trump as poll after
poll predicted Clinton be the victor, it was to the astonishment of many that he reigned victorious
during this 2016 presidential electioncycle. Be it the will of the country (or in this case electoral
college ) this poisonous cheeto will now be the 45th president of the United States. So how did this
happen, what was it about Trump that pushed voter behavior in his favor in many key battleground
states? Trumps victory lies in the hands of the silent majority who at this point were dying for
change and saw it within the republican nominee. The biggest contributing factor to Trump s win
on November 8 was retrospective votingwhich a lot of voters clearly engaged in this election cycle.
When making the decision of who to vote for during an election, voters often tend to start looking
within at their own situation before throwing their support at a candidate. Questioning whether ones
is better off now than they were before the previous election is known as retrospective voting. This
concept is the idea that voters take into consideration factors such as the performance a political
party ,

An Unpleasant Experience At An Airport
An unpleasant experience at an airport Recently, UNICEF released a video to promote their
campaign for needy children, however it presents a stereotype against physical appearances
rather than the campaign. In the video, a 6 year old girl who dressed pretty and neatly stood
alone on a street and many people asked her whether she was all right. Later, when the same girl
had changed her appearance in dirty clothes and stood alone again in the same street, then
nobody asked her whether she was okay. The attitudes that people showed depended on the child
s physical appearance. I have a similar experience. The experience that I realized how people are
offended by others who judge people based on the physical appearances was when I waited the
delayed airplane to go to Korea, a manager ignored me since I didn t dress up neatly, however he
changed his attitude politely as soon as he noticed I was a VIP in his company. A few years ago,
my mom called me in the night and said urgently, Your grandmother is in a critical condition. I
think you will be better to see her before she passes away. I was completely overwhelmed by the
unexpected news. My grandmother raised me when I was young because my parents were busy
with work, so she was very special to me. As soon as I heard that news, I bought the earliest flight
ticket for Korea immediately and rushed to the airport with a baggy hoodie and old sweatpants on.
Because the thought that I need to go to the airport as soon as

The Pros And Cons Of Obamacare
The Downfall of Obamacare
As Americans citizens we have the freedom of religion, speech and press, the right to vote, the
right to bear arms and the right to a fair trial so why not the right for affordable health insurance.
Americans would appreciate reasonably priced health care with benefits and Obamacare was the
first presidential attempt to force less ideal health care on all Americans; Trump has promised to
revamp Obamacare and help Americans with better health care coverage. Obama care or better
known as the The Affordable Health Care Act (Heritage Foundation, 1) is a federal law for Health
Insurance by our 44th President Barack Obama. For decades, politicians have been considering the
topic of healthcare, which is one major reason Obama was so adamant about Obamacare.
[Obamacare] requires all insurance plans to cover essential health benefits including treatment for

Preppers Vs Survivalists
Is There Any Such Thing as a Typical Prepper Or Survivalist ? The news media likes the
sensational, and so they splash headlines like Preppers arrested because they were preparing for
Martial Law . The headline was not even close to the truth, but once the toothpaste is out of the
tube and all that. Certain people it seems need to label other people, pigeon hole them if you
will, and they typically do this with those they do not understand. Many also assume a Prepper
and a survivalist are one and the same. You can be a survivalist and a Prepper, or just a Prepper
or just a survivalist. They really are different, but to survive in today s world you will likely have
to blend the two, and become one. A Preppervivalist may be a good name Typically, a survivalist

Agile Methodologies And Rapid Application Development Essay
Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development: A Comparison
Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development look to improve the SDLC by using a
framework and requirements to complete projects. The paths that both AM and RAD take to get to
the finish line can differ immensely, which can ultimately lead to varying results.
Agile Methodologies
Matharu, Mishra, Singh, Upadhyay (2015, p. 1) state that, agile methods are characterized by
shorter development cycles, higher customer interaction, incremental delivery, frequent redesign
with accommodation of changes necessitated by dynamic user requirements. The Agarwal et al.
text explores three of the most popular agile methods, Scrum, Extreme Programming (EP), and
Kanban. All of these agile methods follow The Agile Manifesto (Beck, et al., 2001).
Scrum. Scrum manages the full SDLC in short iterations called sprints. Each sprint is a smaller,
full, SDLC. There are three very important roles within a scrum process, the scrum master,
development team, and product owner. Collaboration is at the center of this methodology. Scrum
attempts to utilize unique skills within the team to their maximum ability. Daily meetings are
called to review the status of the project and assign resources where they are needed. A product
and sprint backlog are maintained to provide insight on tasks, steps, and requirements to complete
and meet for the ongoing project. Through a series of sprints, the backlogs are completed in an

The Evolving Automobile
The day in which cars can drive themselves has arrived and Brett Berk believes Californians
should embrace it. More specifically, he believes autonomous cars are vital for the senior
population. In his editorial entitled Self driving cars could keep seniors in the driver s seat, Berk
discusses the advantages of this new and emerging technology. Autonomous cars have been
introduced only within the last decade but their development has continuously advanced. The most
current models are near perfection and will soon be on the roads. Berk is a strong supporter of the
driver less car, claiming that the new technology will greatly benefit older Americans. Through the
use of several rhetorical devices Berk is able to successfully persuade the... Show more content on

His audience believes in independence and self reliance. He thus, suggests, that giving seniors
the opportunity to drive, even if incapacitated, would strengthen their pride and heighten their
sense of individualism. He describes a friend of his grandmother as having to give up her car
and having to move into an assisted living facility. This is meant to tug at the hearts of
Californians. Not only does such a place sound cold and heartless, it insinuates that residents
cannot provide from themselves. Having to depend on others is often seen as weak;
Californians want to be self reliant they want to strive and succeed on their own. Berk is hence
able to instill both sorrow and fear into his readers. If not sympathizing for the elderly who must
now depend on others, the reader surely fears of being in that same position in the future. Hence,
he convinces the reader that the elderly need access to these cars now, but also that the reader
will need them in the future. Berk also uses a great amount of factual evidence to persuade the
reader that driver less cars would greatly benefit the elderly. He states, According to the Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety, the collision rate for older drivers is among the highest of any age
group. Seniors, thus, pose a threat not only to themselves, but to others as well. Therefore, it would
benefit the elderly, as well as the rest of the population, to give seniors access to

Truman Doctrine
All things in history have a place and time. In fact we are history. Had it not been for the
previous events in world history, our existence could have been questionable. What would have
happened if Hitler did take over the world? Would we be alive today? What if the cold war turned
hot at some point? All these doubts tend to help an individual realize that everything in world
history happens for a specific reason and therefore everything has its own timeand place. One
significant event in United Stateshistory had been the Vietnam War. However, the Vietnam War that

He understood that Vietnam was the where the line was drawn. If he had not been stern with
foreign policy and his involvement, Khrushchev and the Russians would ride him all the way out
of his presidency. Just as Eisenhower had done, Kennedy had backed up Diem to fullest extent as
well. He believed that Diem played an intricate role in the success of the US presence within
Vietnam. JFK knew that Khrushchev had overpowered him. However, that had not fazed him. JFK
knew that this incident would not be based on leaders. It would heavily rely on counterinsurgency.
In fact, JFK based his whole foreign policy with Vietnam on counterinsurgency. JFKГЃ #9472;

Behind the Art Essay
Behind the Art
What is art? By definition it is, An occupation requiring knowledge or skill (Merriam). Many
people would argue that late artist Jackson Pollock s work would not go under this category. But
Pollock s paintings were not random splats and splashes, but carefully planned and expertly
executed works of art.
In order to understand Pollock s work, it s important that you know a little about him. Jackson
Pollock was born in Wyoming in 1912. His family moved around the southwest before settling in
Los Angeles. At age 18 he dropped out of high school and moved to New York, where he struggled
for more than a decade to make it as an artist.

From 1938 to 1942 Pollock worked for the Federal Art Project, and by the mid 1940 s he was
painting in a completely abstract manner (Moore).
In 1944 Jackson met and married Lee Krasner, also an abstract impressionist of great influence in
the 20th century. In 1947 Pollock abruptly started working in what he is now famous for, his drip
and splash method. He continued painting throughout the early 1950 s (Landau 22).
Jackson was most well known for his drip paintings, which were created in a very unheard of and
unusual way. He attached his canvases to the floor, dancing around them and attacking them from
all four sides. He would use almost anything but a paintbrush to apply the paint to the canvas.
Pollock most often stood over the work slinging paint with sticks, trowels, or knives. This would
later earn him the name, Jack the Dripper (Lehrer). He would also embed things onto his painting
surface, such as sand, broken glass, nails, pebbles, string, and other foreign matter. This gave it
texture and depth. He had an exceptional interest in sand paintings, as he had studied about the
Southwest Indians that made sand paintings as a ritual to heal an unhealthy or diseased person.
Jackson actually witnessed a sand painting ceremony and was most interested. Also when he
painted he would drip and splatter many layers onto one another making the

Animal Cells And Their Functions
Animal cells and their functions
Cell Membrane
The cell surface membrane is a semi permeable membrane whose function is to control the
exchange of substances between the cell and its environment. Semi permeable means that only
certain molecules are allowed to be transported in and out of the cell. The membrane is mainly
made up of Lipid and protein. On the diagram, the Cell Membrane forms the outer shell of the
animal cell, and can be seen as the bold line around it.
Nucleus
The Nucleus has a sphere shaped body that encloses a variety of organelles, including the
nucleolus, and is home to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of a cell
inside the chromosomes. It is typically seen as the largest part of the animal cell. The nucleus
controls many of the functions and activities inside an animal cell, and is known as the control
centre of a cell. On the diagram, the nucleolus can be located as the black dot in the middle of the
Nucleus, and is the main site for ribosome formation.
Nuclear Membrane
The Nuclear Membrane surrounds the Nucleus, which is known as a Porous Membrane. This is
covered in pores, which are tiny holes that allow the exchange of RNA to move between the
nucleus and the cytoplasm. Proteins that are desired by the Nucleus are also able to move through
these pores.
Nucleolus
The Nucleolus is the organelle structure inside the nucleus; it supports the synthesis of ribosomes,
which is where the Ribosomal RNA is produced. Some cells

Similarly, Ajuluchukwu 1962 (as cited in Onwuejeogwu, 1991) note that from the inception, the
National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) embarked upon deliberate campaigns of fostering
national consciousness and inspiring a strong sense of militancy in the Nigerian people s liberation

government insensitivity to national issues, and its inability to address them appropriately.

Examples Of Power Corrupts
Many would say that power corrupts. The phrase penned by John Dalberg, Power corrupts, and
absolute power corrupts absolutely, has become a clichГ© idiom thrown about when discussing
power. Does it really though? Does power really corrupt every man it touches? Power is merely
a tool, neither inherently good nor bad. Power, similar to magic , is subject to the one who
wields it. If something wicked wields power, the power will lead to wicked things. However,
power in the hands of good will lead to good things it is a reflection of the heart. In J.R.R. Tolkien
s book The Fellowship of the Ring his characters exhibit different reactions to power. Some crave
it, others lust for it, and one in particular shuns it. Power is a tool;... Show more content on

In the opening of the first book The Fellowship of the Ring Tolkien puts a poem which begins,
Three Rings for the Elven kings under the sky, Seven for Dwarf lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne... (Tolkien 49).
The men were doomed to die. Similarly, in our world men are doomed to die without the
salvation of Jesus, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and they are justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23 24) This is
why men in Tolkien s books have such a hard time handling power. For example the nine mortal
men give in to the temptation to abuse their power and consequently they turn into wraiths, undying
slaves of Sauron. Man s heart is corrupt in Middle Earth same as it is corrupt in our world, and
this is why it appears that power always corrupts when it is really just the corruption of man
brought to light by the influence of power. The great sin here is lust. The lust for power, or money,
or women, or gold (Thorin Oakenshield) is the great downfall of man. Each thing individually is
not evil, but it is the lust that is, and it is the lust that

Abstract: Portfolio matrix is probably the most important tool for strategic marketing planning,
especially in the strategy selection stage. Position of the organization in the portfolio matrix and it s
corresponding marketing strategy depends on the aggregation of values of relevant strategic factors.
Traditional approach to portfolio matrix analysis uses averaging function as an aggregation
operator. This approach is very limited in realistic business environment characterized by complex
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that the use of weighted arithmetic mean as an aggregation operator can t express all the
possible interactions between strategic factors that exist in a realistic business environment. This
explains why the traditional approach to portfolio matrix analysis is highly limited, with the
inherited weaknesses that can t be overcome without substantial modification. Therefore, under
previous conditions, it is obvious that a new approach to portfolio matrix analysis is needed. This
new approach must take in consideration all the possible forms of interactions between strategic
factors that can occur in a realistic business environment.
These interactions can be expressed with a logical aggregation operator, so a new approach to
portfolio matrix analysis can be based on this operator. W eighted arithmetic mean and other
known aggregation operators are just, as we will see in the following sections, special cases of
logical aggregation operator.
2. THE MCDONALD S DIRECTIONAL POLICY MATRIX (DPM)

strategic position and strategy alternatives, this objective can t be met without considering what is

Network Administrator Has Higher Level Of Control
LAN stands for Local Area Network. It is a type of network that covers a greater distance and it
interconnects computers and devices either wired or wireless. LAN is mainly used in private
organisations such as college or university. More or less everyone uses wireless router at home
these days and the user is able to connect between 5 10 devices wirelessly. The user can share the
broadband or the connection with ADSL by using Ethernet cables. Smaller LANs can connect at
least 2 3 computers using one cable. It also depends on the size of the organisation. Smaller
LANs are easier to manage. The users need to be careful when using larger LANs and need to
make sure that the network within it is transmitted efficiently. The user can increase the number
of computers connected by using routers and switches. This ensures that the network
administrator has higher level of control over the network. IEEE 802.3 is the wired Ethernet
used by LAN and therefore it is related to LAN. The set up cost for LAN is relatively cheap.
WAN stands for Wide Area Network. It is a type of network that interconnects the LANs
meaning it connects the LANs together over large distance. WAN is used in school or college
or in a joint network academy (Super Janet). WANs can be both public and private. Frame replay
is one type of technology used by WAN. Frame relay is a standardised packet based protocol that
is used for high speed data transmission to connect devices by WAN. MPLS stands for

What Should Be Done About Gang Violence In Society?
Many people in our society do not think that anything bad will ever happen to them. These people
always hear about the issues and problems that are in the world today, but never think they will

many different areas of the world. If nothing is done soon, gang violence could take place in our

Movies can have a negative effect on youth (Synder). Movies and other media may serve as
control systems for the working through of psychological and social conflicts. Many of the
youthful audiences may experience and carry out their inner conflicts, desires, and fears, within the

some families act as if they are in another world and their behaviors unfold independent of the
quality of neighborhoods, poverty, class, relations, crime, or any other factor. Poor family
socialization is the final cause of criminality (Singer). Gangs are a visual symbol of deprived
families. They tend to grow in isolation from the surrounding social world (Singer).John J. Dilulio

funding, and cultural changes (Hutson). A problem that is usually associated with gangs is the use
of drugs. Anglin Hutson of Nation s Cities Weekly, stated that drug, gang connection is often cited,
but many researchers believe this activity is overstated. Most street gangs are not efficient or
sophisticated drug distributions (Klein). Klein goes on to say that members of gangs are normally

The pressure to be physically perfect is so severe in dance studios today that young women and
girls often suffer from a disease, anorexia nervosa. This disorder also affects male dancers, other
men, young girls and women, and even children as young as four years of age (Cohen). An
estimated 0.5 to 3.7 percent of females suffer from anorexia nervosa in their lifetime (NIMH).
However, anorexia is more severe and most recognized in the dance studio in the female dancers.
Anorexia is an emotional and physical illness in which a person refuses to eat. This can be a fatal
disorder. The word anorexia means without appetite; nervosa means nervous. Hence, anorexia
nervosa is best translated as a nervous loss of appetite. Anorexics are extremely hungry most of the

and peculiar behaviors such as compulsive rituals, strange eating habits, and division of foods into

Up until World War I descriptions of war in America are confined primarily to generals account .
. . leaving much of the war s confusion and chaos to the imagination (Smith 11). American
writers rarely considered war as a viable literary subject, until Stephen Crane s civil war novel,
The Red Badge of Courage. Despite Crane having never been in a war zone his publication is
considered among the first to capture the potential of the battlefield as a literary backdrop. Further
developing the war novelgenre, Ernest Hemingway adds what Smith describes as a journalistic

The Vietnam War, O Brien proclaims, consists of contradictory truths: it can be argued, for

The Freedom Ride and Tent Embassy are both extremely significant events and had long lasting

Speech On Blood Donation
The Gift of Life You re always somebody s type. Maybe not in the sense of finding love, but at
least in donating blood. When individuals are asked why they donate blood, their response is
simple, it is heartwarming as well as a rewarding feeling. Individuals can donate at blood drives and
hospitals.Donors can either walk in or schedule an appointment. Donating bloodis not easy for
some people, especially if it is the first time, they may not know what to expect and they may be
nervous. It is phlebotomist or employee at the blood donation center job to make the person feel
welcome and help them overcome any fears they may have.We need as many donors as we can
get to try and reach our number for how many pints of blood are required. Although we have
blood banks like Bonfils; which is one of many locations Colorado has for a bigger supply of
blood to help us out in case of an emergency. We simply would not have enough blood for the
affected victims because we are short on blood donations; supply and demand for donation are too
high; diagnoses and transportation of blood would take too long.
As we begin, although we are thousands of pints short on blood, we would not be able to help
large number of victims in a big emergency, through more blood donations. If we were in need of
lots of blood we would have lots of donors lining up outside blood donor locations to help the

Foreshadowing In A Tale Of Two Cities
Trees being cut down by the woodmen in the beginning of Tale of Two Cities is an important
symbol in the book. It foreshadows the violence to come towards the end of the book. It is likely
enough that rooted in the woods of France and Norway, there were growing trees, when that

boards, to make a certain movable framework with a sack and a knife in it, terrible in history. (2)
This references the upcoming violence of the revolution. Most importantly, the invention of the
guillotine. It shows the beginning of how this deadly machine was created and it symbolises the
woodman as fate. At the beginning of the book, Dicken foreshadows the use of the farmer s cart in

She is called Squeak because of her petite figure and her quiet speech. However like Celie,
Squeak learns through the woman around her that she is also a woman who can be
independent. Celie tells Squeak that she needs to tell Harpo to call her by her real name.
Otherwise, he will never respect her. She does precisely this. She tells Harpo while they and the
other characters are eating dinner that she will be called by her real name from this point
forward, Mary Agnes (Walker 95 97). Squeak and Mary Agnes are completely different
characters. While Squeak is a woman who allows her partner to disregard her and is content
with being forgotten, Mary Agnes is a woman who knows her worth and demands to be treated
with respect. Because of Shug s influence, Mary leaves her partner by the end of the novel so
that she can do what she loves the most; sing and perform for other people around the world
(Walker 210). By the end of the novel, Celie is happy. At this time, she is a successful
entrepreneur, happily living with her current partner, Albert, and lives in a restored version of her
childhood home. When Celie begins writing to Nettie, confiding in Sofia, growing alongside
Squeak, and being motivated by Shug, she completely changes as a character and finds herself

Surgery Failure Recovery
Recovery from the surgery usually requires a few weeks in the hospital. It may also include
several visits and checkups in the first year. After that, the patient usually needs only one checkup
a year to make sure that the valve is still working correctly. At the checkup, the doctor will do a
number of tests to see if the replacement or repair is working like it should be. If they find
something wrong, they will continue to monitor the person until they find out if it is life threating
or not. If it is life threating the doctor will do another surgeryto fix it ( Aortic Valve Stenosis ).
There is very little chance that there will be complications after the surgery. The chance of
complications is reduced due to how common the disorder is and

Two Ways The Ted Talk Overlaps
In many ways, the Ted Talk overlaps with the psychology textbook. Two ways that it overlaps in
my option is cognitivism or cognitive psychology and social influences. To begin with, let s start
with cognitivism. Cognitivism is the framework for understanding behavior. In this school of
psychology, they focused on the aspect of thinking; they believed that thinking affects behavior in
powerful ways (Lilienfeld et al., 2016, p. 9). This relates to the Ted talk because while Jill was
talking about her experience while having the stoke, she says that her mindwas going back and
forth between reality and La La Land while that was happening her behavior changed as well. In
her La La Land she was not thinking rationally, she was a carefree human

HA540: Healthcare Operations and Quality Assessment Part One St. Jude Children s Research
Hospital This assignment will be a good review of the following: Choose a company or an
industry in which you have worked or would like to work. It could be a hospital or a physician
practice. Identify all the important stakeholders for the entity. Determine the primary aims
/objectives of each stakeholder. Assess the power of each stakeholder to affect the company s
strategic plans, and how it may apply that power. Explain how the company might respond to the
possible actions of each stakeholder. Recommend tradeoffs that company managers could make to
accommodate the stakeholders in a way that optimizes the company s own performance. I have
chosen St. Jude Children s Research Hospital for this project because I have always thought that
this hospital is the best organization in the healthcare industry. I have visited the St. Jude Children
s Research Hospital many times in Lexington, Kentucky, close to where I live, and visited the
children and gave them little gifts. It truly breaks my heart to see the children suffering in the way
that they do, but it feels my heart to see them and play with them and see their little faces light up
when they see the treats that I had brought them. For many of these children and their families,
they would not be able to get the treatment needed if it weren t for St. Jude. They could simply not
afford it and St. Jude has been

Chinese Triads Research Paper
Threat: Chinese Triads pose threats to U.S. national security in relation to drug and human
trafficking. In the United States, these groups are active in most metropolitan areas that have a
large Chinese population, and typically keep their activities limited to those areas. Within these
areas they are often responsible for heroin and methamphetamine trafficking, human trafficking and
intimidation/protection practices. While documented triad activity in the United Statesreached a
peak in the 1990s, it is not clear if activity has truly been curbed or if the nature of privacy within
the Chinese subculture is preventing the threat from being properly documented. Although Triads
are active within the United States, their involvement in allied states poses an additional threat to
U.S. security and its interests.
Background: The history of Chinese Triads within the United States is closely linked with the
history of Chinese and Hong Kong based triads. The original Chinese Triad formed during the 17th
century, and wanted to overthrow the Qing dynasty and bring back the Ming dynasty. However, by
the early 1900s had broken into several smaller splinter groups. Currently, major ... Show more

past decade, Triads have increased their youth recruitment both in the United States and in other

practices. Lastly, the lack of clear leadership structures, coupled with the vast multinational
connections Triads possess, makes them a resilient threat. There is no obvious leadership structure
to take out due to the now weak ties between group members, and since groups are spread

Why Do You Thankful To You Essay
We all say thank you everyday in life, either it s because someone held the door open for you or
shared their piece cookie with you. We say it because we appreciate them putting us before
them. It shows someone cares and someone is willing to be late for work by letting me come
into the lane during rush hour. Thanksgiving is great for that reason. I get to hear about how
much I mean to someone or many people by the simples things I do daily but to them it means
the world. Its countless the amount of things i m thankful for, knowing someone out there is
wanting the things i have and my life to them is a fairy tale. There is many people out there in
the world who on this very day dont have a great home cooked meal like i do or even loved ones

Sociology Courses On The Classroom
Certainly having other sociology courses prior to this class helped my learning the most. However,
the reading assignments due before each class oriented me throughout the topic and allowed me to
understand the lecture. It provided me with a sneak peak of the upcoming topic to be discussed in
class. Thus, gave me time to think of comments with which I could participate. It also taught me to
watch out for facts and details about a topic. Aside from allowing me to understand better the
lecture, I enjoyed doing the assignments because it provided me with facts to back up material

Although coming up with solution to those problems are challenging, at least I learned how to
address them. Since I understand the causes and consequences of social problems, I am now
comfortable to discuss my points of view with another individual in an educated discussion.
Furthermore, understanding the causes and consequences has also allowed me to understand that
not everybody has the same points of view. We can all go through the same situation, but we all
experience it differently, and precisely that experience is what shapes our perceptions of things.
Thus, my empathy increased greatly, because when my perception gets challenged, I understand the
the other person has experienced a situation differently than mine. Likewise, the topic discussed
in class challenged the stereotypes I had of situations or even other people. For example, I
stereotyped the poor as lazy or as people who did not tried to get out of poverty. However, after
material discussed in class I mainly understood that being poor was not even their choice; several
inherit being poor from their parents. I understood that it is not in their power to change their
economic situation, but it relies on the institutions that do not allow them to earn better wages, or
do not allow them to have the same opportunities as others. My stereotypes were challenged with

Paul Dunbar Sympathy Summary
In Sympathy, Paul Dunbar illustrates emotions, happiness, and freedom for the bird from his
cage. The misfortune of the bird trapped in his cage seems like an eternity darkness. For
example, the energy of nature depicts the bird s connection with the universe. There are many
descriptive details regarding the essence of the earth such as relating the bird s desire for peace.
In Sympathy, Dunbar introduces the poem with an artistic formation of understanding the bird s
soul and how his freedom strengthens independence: When the first bird sings and the first bud
opes, / And the faint perfume from its chalice steals / I know what the caged bird feels! (5 7). The
river is a symbol of harmony and the bars represents the cruel pain of loneliness

The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri, is known for its wide variety of

Ancient art, while also showing some present art pieces. My experience through the museum went
very well. Throughout the whole museum, there wasn t any place to look that was boring, or didn

and were categorized in similar sections. All the art pieces having the interesting descriptions,
helped me understand the visual, value, and history behind all of the pieces, which I found very
helpful relating them to class. Outside in the front lawn of the Nelson museum, I found the big,
architectural structures, the Shuttlecocks, were very eye appealing, and caught my attention

plastic, that are painted white and orange. The sculptures looked to me as some sort of structural
pop art, to possibly represent the fun outdoors in people s daily lives.

perfectly aligned, which led my eyes to the rounded, red, end of the structure. I found out that each

Technology has such advanced at a pace seemingly impossible since that night of New Year s

different types of detectors, and we have such then advanced in education as well. Officers are
better trained today and have things such as body cameras for personal protection against false

came from a party that late night. The difference is huge and if today this crime was committed,
technology would be a very big asset to solving

Abstract SQL injection is a technique where malicious users can inject SQL commands into an SQL
statement through user input. It is among the most common application layer attack techniques
used normally. SQL Injectionis among topmost attack mechanisms used by malicious user to
steal data from organizations. This is one of the types of attack which takes advantage of
improper coding to inject SQL commands into form through user input to allow them to gain
access to the data. Use of WCF service for avoiding SQL injection attack will implement
combination of adaptive methods and tokenization method. Usability of WCF service is
allowed to implement code validation check and use it in any applications it also allows
combination of any number of methods. Possibility of SQL Injection is when system takes data
from online user hence for SQL Injection prevention we have to validate user input only when
we are taking input data from user. One of the most known cause of SQL injection is incorrect
way of coding and most of the time WCF services is having all code for validation of SQL
Injection and methods implemented remotely, code will take data input from end user and pass to

By spreading expenses over the whole year there is a more equal cash outflow each month rather
than one huge outflow during one month. An example of this is the offer from insurance
companies to be able to pay insurance premiums monthly instead of annually because of the
excessively high costs. Another strategy commonly used is Discounts for the early payments ,
This is where a business may offer discounts to account customers for the early payment of their
accounts to speed up cash inflow. This discount may be a little as 2 5%, but shows effective in
terms of cash inflow as it gives incentive for the customers, Giving both the customer and
business a gain in the financial situation. Other incentives for early payment could include small
gifts and discounts on future orders that the customers may have. The business then may shorten
the credit terms it allows for account customers. Thus Reducing the number of days that a
customer can take to pay its invoice, this will speed up cash inflow into the business as it
recieves cash from its sales much sooner. Factoring, a short term source of borrowing for a
business. IT enables a business to raise the funds immediately by selling accounts receivable at a

The American Businessman Essay
The American Businessman When you think of your average businessman, the first thought
probably is a tall and slender man, who always wears black suits and is a wall street shark.
However, this is not the case for Eric Merchant. He is a large, jolly man, who always wears tee
shirts that relate to cars and trucks. Every weeknight, after Eric comes home from his job as a
businessowner, he starts to work again. He is a day in and day out workaholic, he always has
something to do and time to do it. He elaborates, I can t just do nothing, that doesn t seem
practical to me, Eric has always been a devoted worker for his own personal satisfaction, and for
his two children, Maddy and Masen. Before his business, Merchant Automotive, became his
priority in work, he was a mechanic for a Todd Wenzel dealership. However, he still ran his own
small business on the side while working there. He bought parts from their supply manager and
resold them on his own website. They knew what I was doing, they just didn t care because I
wasn t competing with them. His managers hadn t cared because they weren t selling anything
online, and therefore saw no problem with Eric doing so. Along with that, he would do speciality
mechanic work on large diesel trucks out of his own garage. Eric had tools and knowledge to
perform maintenance on specific vehicles that almost every other mechanic shop could not do. He
attracted customers from around the globe by using online forum websites, spreading

The Population Of St. Paul s Informed On The Consequences...
A survey is currently being administered to the residents of St. Paul s Grenada, to determine are
villagers in the community of St, Paul s informed on the consequences of crime. St. Paul s is a
residential area located in the south east of Grenada, with the majority of the residents from the
generation X and Y age range, with few residents in the baby boomer category. Upon completion
of this survey, the results should help to identify; the level of awareness of villagers to the new
laws passed by Grenada parliament on the crimeand their legal penalties, determine the thoughts on
the past consequences compared to the present, determine the villagers attitude towards the new
penalties of crime and find out whether the consequences are deterring factors to thought and action
of committing crime. Moreover, to help gather and process information needed to help make valid
and reliable conclusions, quantitative survey research through the use of structured questionnaires
is used.
Questionnaire was chosen to gather information on villagers since; adequate information can be
collected from a large size of the villagers in a short period of time and in a cost effective manner.
Also, the information captured from villagers and quantified through the use of charts, graphs and
table with limited effects to its validity and reliability. The structured questions allowed for
exploration of the pattern and trends, which aided in understanding the awareness of villagers. Its

The Problem With Productivity By Trisha Savoia The Problem With Productivity By Trisha Savoia | Submitted On April 05, 2012 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Share this article on Facebook Share this article on Twitter Share this article on Google+ Share this article on Linkedin Share this article on StumbleUpon Share this article on Delicious Share this article on Digg Share this article on Reddit Share this article on Pinterest Expert Author Trisha Savoia My time in Banff brought about some amazing learning moments for me; some more direct than others. I will be sharing a couple of the ripple effect lessons I learned upon returning home. What I had learned made me question further some of the concepts I had pondered before...one of them being our need to be productive. A large part of the reason why I was having trouble settling in and simply enjoying my time in Banff was because I had an underlying need to be productive. Even though at a conscious level I no longer buy into and accept that our time needs to be filled with productive pursuits (not to be confused with purpose), at a subconscious level that belief was buried quite deep, and so my two minds were struggling with each other. We have been raised in a culture that highly values productivity, and that in itself wouldn t be such a bad thing if we hadn t taken it to extremes. We have come to value ourselves based on how productive we are, which has led us to be driven, to push ourselves, and to preserve under all conditions...and if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Native American Ritual Dancing Native American Ritual Dancing It has often been said that the North American Indians dance out their religions (Vecsey 51). There were two very important dances for the Sioux tribe, the Sun Dance and the Ghost Dance. Both dances show the nature of Native American spirituality. The Ghost Dance and the Sun Dance were two very different dances, however both promote a sense of community. The Sun Dance was the most spectacular and important religious ceremony of the Plains Indians of 19th century North America (Lawrence 1). The Sun Dance became a time of renewal and thanksgiving for Native Americans. Everyone had a role to play either in the preparation leading up to the dance, or within the dance itself. The ... After the tree is cut down, it is not allowed to touch the ground. McGaa states that the men can only set the tree down four times to rest on the way back to the reservation (86). There is an arena set up where the dancing and other activities will take place. Once the cottonwood is brought back, the men place it in the center of this arena. Some fifty men then join the group and raise the tree with rope. Four songs are sung four times to the each of the four winds. Cloth banners representing the four directions are tied to the branches, and then two hides are tied above the cloth (one in the shape of a human and the other of a buffalo). The cutouts represent thankfulness. Twelve chokecherry branches are tied crosswise beneath the buffalo and the human images. The branches symbolize the twelve moons, the twelve months of the year (McGaa 86). The same evening the dancers who will be pierced in the ceremony participate in a Sweat Lodge ceremony. On the first actual ceremonial day of the Sun Dance another Sweat Lodge is held for those men and women who are going to participate in the dancing. A Sweat Lodge is believed to help heal a person spiritually. Groups that participate in Sweat Lodges are supposed to gain empowerment. The dancers then dress and prepare him or her self in the tipi. • 4. Igor Fedorovich Stravinsky Research Paper Igor Fedorovich Stravinsky was born in Oranienbaum, Russia in 1882. He was the son of Fyodor Ignat evich Stravinsky. Igor Stravinsky is known as one of the best composers that Russia has ever produced because of works such as Firebird, Rite of spring, and Petrushka. Stravinsky Career was very interesting in that he was trained by one of the best composer of Russia, he was taken to Paris, and he revolutionized music in his time. Igor Stravinsky was introduce to music at an early age. His father was a bass singer in the local opera house (White 3). He loved music since he was a baby. According to white he could frequently hear his father, two room from his nursery practicing for a role (white). Even though his father made a career out of music, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His first performance of Firebird was what put Stravinsky in the musical map. Even though the ballet went well with the public, Stravinsky knew that he still needed to improve (Huizenga). After the success of firebird, Diaghilev wanted Stravinsky to immediately start working on another ballet. To his surprise, Stravinsky had already started working on a piece himself. This piece would be unveiled in Paris France in 1911 as Petrushka. Petrushka in some ways shows Stravinsky finally reaching the musical sound he desired. According to Teachout Stravinsky s Petrushka, Herald a Complete change in the way musicians, and in particular creative musicians, thought about music. It freed rhythm once and for all from old regularities, the old four bar schemes, and allowed it to react directly to variations in the melodic phrase (Teachout 59). This is what Stravinsky had been working towards all along. After his great success with Petrushka, Stravinsky started working in what probable became his best known work Rite of spring. The concept of Rite of Spring had been in Stravinsky s mind for a long time. He had this idea of making a ballet about the pagan sacrifices that would occur during the beginning of spring. To show this barbaric tradition, Stravinsky assembled an orchestra that went completely outside of the traditional tonality and intensify the essence of dissonance (Vlad 31). Vlad says that ... • 5. Buying A New Home Market The choice to purchase a new home in today s market is very challenging to make after considering the disadvantages and the advantages. The current real estate market decides that today is the excellent time to buy a house as prices and the interest rate are still low. Sadly, many economic signals reveal that the real estate market may not have reached the bottom yet and more losses might be in store for the near future. The choice to buy real estate should be meticulously considered and massively dependent upon the actions of the local real estate market neighboring today s buyers and sellers. A lot of the main principles of economicssuch as trade offs; incentives and opportunity cost directly relate to the home buying decision.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this position, buyers have a provisional advantage over sellers because buyers can demand incentives from sellers to close the transaction or find another agreeable seller. The opportunity cost, or whatever someone is willing to give up in exchange for what he or she wants, is typically basic because the buyer can simply find another house that meets his or her needs. The opportunity cost for sellers in this market are typically very high as they may waste time with buyers who do not intend to buy their property; time is very important to sellers, but not as important to buyers in this type of market. Sellers are typically highly motivated to sell and can easily become desperate to sell a home quickly in a buyer s market; buyers can easily take advantage of a seller in trouble. In a seller s market, buyers stand to lose haggling power such as seller improvements that could help buyers with closing costs because the number of homes available for purchase isn t as many; buyers will have limited choices of homes for sale. In this position, sellers have a provisional advantage over buyers because sellers can demand full price, cash only, and zero incentive to close the transaction. The opportunity cost is typically essential for sellers in this market because they can simply wait for the right buyer to bid on convenient homes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Barry Bonds and Steroids Essay Have you noticed the size of Barry Bonds entire body over the past couple years? His muscles grew big, and his endurance increased over time which allowed him to play baseball for as long as he had. Barry Bonds was a baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants for 21 years. He had to overcome some huge injuries, including a huge knee problem at the end of his career. The only way that he was able to lift so much while he still was recovering is a topic that has been discussed for a long time. Steroids are the only possible explanation. His era of play included such players as Sammy Sosa, who was caught using a doctored bat during a game and also Mark McGuwire, who has admitted to using steroids and performance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then two years later, he resembled an NFL linebacker. He played in an era that many sports writers have labeled The Steroid Era and with his sudden jump in production and size is a great piece of evidence that should be held against him. His statistics over a three year span had increased at such an amazing rate, one of the fastest rates in Major League history. Over the years of 1996 thorough 1999, Barry Bonds averaged 35 home runs per year (Elias). But in 2000, Bonds hit 49 home runs, then came out the next year and hit a record setting 73 home runs in a season, which is a great indicator that he used performance enhancing drugs over this specific time (Elias). The evidence that has been found and recorded on the topic of Bonds and performance enhancing drugs is plentiful, and all of this information should be used against him in a movement to convict him of robbing the game of baseball and hurting the structure of the game so many Americans love and enjoy. Barry Bonds and steroid use continues to be a very hot topic in the professional sports world. The history that Bonds erased from the game because of his drug use, especially the records that he erased from all time greats such as Babe Ruth and Willie Mays, is a great deal to the fans and historians of Major League Baseball. Barry Bonds broke two of the biggest and most well known records in the Major Leagues. In 2001, Bonds broke the single season home run record by hitting 73 home runs in one season, ... • 7. The Powerful Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Essay The Powerful Adventures of Huckleberry Finn When Samuel Langhorne Clemens first published his story, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, he was criticized severely. On top of that, the book was banned from libraries and schools alike. The book was thought to be a bad influence on children because it represents the breaking of the law as moral, it recommends disobedience and defiance on the part of young people, it portrays churchgoers as hypocritical, and the most admirable characters in the book habitually lie and steal and loaf (Johnson XII). In this day and time, though, the book has become required reading for many schools, and is found in almost every library in the country. Why has there been a change in attitude ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cruel thing about it is that slaves were people and they were sold like cattle. This peculiar notion that one person can actually own another body and soul is supported not only by the law and government, but by the church and religion as well (Johnson 110). I do not believe it is a coincidence that Jim belongs to and is being sold down the river by the person in the novel who makes the greatest show of her religion, Miss Watson (Poirier 91). A reflection of the religious notions of the slaveholding society, which believes the Bible approves of slavery, is shown when Huck thinks he hears the voice of God the plain hand of Providence telling him he should return Miss Watson s property after they run away (Twain 208). In Chapter 12 of Huckleberry Finn, Huck and Jim come across a rapidly sinking ship occupied only by three dangerous thieves who are secretly plotting each other s demise (Crowley 76). The ship, the Walter Scott, which eventually disappears beneath the waves, symbolizes the Old South in its dying years as being dominated by thugs, thieves, and killers. The noble men involved with a noble cause had died out and were no longer present (Johnson 177 178). This is the reason that one cannot find a noble Southern gentleman in the story. Twain s satiric scorn of this failing society is directed particularly at what was called the code of honor, a pattern of conduct that incorporated both the love of ... • 10. The Olympic Charter Which Marks The Beginning Of Modern... If we analyze The Olympic Charter which marks the beginning of modern Olympics we will realize that these events originally were based on a philosophy and certain principles. As it is mentioned in fundamental principle 2: Olympism is a philosophy of life, exalting and combining in a balanced whole the qualities of body, will and mind. Blending sport with culture and education, Olympism seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles. (Girginove et al 2005). From the above text it can be argued that the concept of Olympism does exist in the modern world and has a slightly different significance than the ancient Olympic games. The present philosophy revolves round the role of sport in the development of this world as it provides international understanding and establishes social and moral values (Girginove et al 2005). It has been understood that sporting events can act a medium that can bring nations together on a single platform. The ideology of liberalism and equality was further incorporated by De Coubertin who signifies the role of fairness, justice and respects for person which can be obtained through Olympics (Girginove et al 2005). No that is not a typo, this is real life. It was a hard fought battle between Hillary Clinton and the Donald which ultimately lead to one of the most shocking upsets in recent American politics. Being that the odds were heavily stacked against Trump as poll after poll predicted Clinton be the victor, it was to the astonishment of many that he reigned victorious during this 2016 presidential electioncycle. Be it the will of the country (or in this case electoral college ) this poisonous cheeto will now be the 45th president of the United States. So how did this happen, what was it about Trump that pushed voter behavior in his favor in many key battleground states? Trumps victory lies in the hands of the silent majority who at this point were dying for change and saw it within the republican nominee. The biggest contributing factor to Trump s win on November 8 was retrospective votingwhich a lot of voters clearly engaged in this election cycle. When making the decision of who to vote for during an election, voters often tend to start looking within at their own situation before throwing their support at a candidate. Questioning whether ones is better off now than they were before the previous election is known as retrospective voting. Later, when the same girl had changed her appearance in dirty clothes and stood alone again in the same street, then nobody asked her whether she was okay. He would also embed things onto his painting surface, such as sand, broken glass, nails, pebbles, string, and other foreign matter. This gave it texture and depth. On the diagram, the Cell Membrane forms the outer shell of the animal cell, and can be seen as the bold line around it. Nucleus The Nucleus has a sphere shaped body that encloses a variety of organelles, including the nucleolus, and is home to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of a cell inside the chromosomes. It is typically seen as the largest part of the animal cell. The nucleus controls many of the functions and activities inside an animal cell, and is known as the control centre of a cell. The phrase penned by John Dalberg, Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, has become a clichГ© idiom thrown about when discussing power. Does it really though? If something wicked wields power, the power will lead to wicked things. However, power in the hands of good will lead to good things it is a reflection of the heart. In J.R.R. It is clear that the use of weighted arithmetic mean as an aggregation operator can t express all the possible interactions between strategic factors that exist in a realistic business environment. This explains why the traditional approach to portfolio matrix analysis is highly limited, with the inherited weaknesses that can t be overcome without substantial modification. Therefore, under previous conditions, it is obvious that a new approach to portfolio matrix analysis is needed. This new approach must take in consideration all the possible forms of interactions between strategic factors that can occur in a realistic business environment. The user can share the broadband or the connection with ADSL by using Ethernet cables. Smaller LANs can connect at least 2 3 computers using one cable. It also depends on the size of the organisation. Smaller LANs are easier to manage. The users need to be careful when using larger LANs and need to make sure that the network within it is transmitted efficiently. The user can increase the number of computers connected by using routers and switches. This ensures that the network administrator has higher level of control over the network.
