Things Falll Apart by Chinua Achebe
Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a story that portrays the tensions between the white Colonial
Government and native born people of Umuofia. Okonkwo, the main character, and a great village
man is highly respected in the Igbo tribe of Umuofia. Although, Okonkwo is highly respected by the
Igbo people, they are fearful of him because of his violent anger. When the Europeans arrived in
Umuofia, they brought with them a new religion: Christianity. The Westerners changed Umuofia,
destroyed tradition and destroyed Okonkwo. Things Fall Apart is a great novel recognised for its
impact on the world s understanding of Africa and African people. The novel s English translation
enabled Achebe to reveal the deep response of the Igbo people to colonisation. Through choosing to
write in English, the novel acts as a bridge to reach out to people all across the world. English acts as a
new voice and enables a connection between others in the world, which allows for the building and
creation of awareness through educating and informing; through the English language, readers from
across the globe are introduced to a new culture. This essay will discuss what the novel s English
translation made possible for the African writer, Chinua Achebe.
Things Fall Apart is a novel about Igbo people and their unique culture. Through the novel, Achebe
shows that Africa had a rich history and culture before the arrival of the white man. Achebe rejects the
assumptions of imperialist critics and

Gcse Fifth Song Instruments
The very first music piece started off slow but then flutes and chimes came in and took the song to a
different level. It then later on has the same type of beat which helps it continue to flow. I really like
the flute solo that was played around the middle of the song. In the next song it starts out as if it is a
church choir. The song sounds serious and probably takes part of some ritual or ceremony. The third
song sounds very inviting and calm. This song also is song by a choir or a group of people.
Throughout the video the church is present so in that case this means that this song had an importance
inside the church. The beginning of the fourth song is different by how the drums are the first things
you hear. In this song you will also presence all the songs playing at the same time. The ... Show more

This song shows a lot of elegance and it is a song in which people are very interested in as it s still
very much heard today. There are moments in the fifth song in which the violins are played very hard,
and that is something different that has happened in this song than the other ones so far. The
Hallelujah chorus song which is the sixth example is a song that is still played and heard around
churches and the world. This song instantly begins with singing Hallelujah which brings the listeners
attention in the first few seconds of the song. The seventh example begins with opera type singing that
is meant to be sad and gloomy but precious and elegant all at the same time. This song is shown to pay
tribute to an occasion with beautiful singing. The eight example is played with a piano and it all
begins with a loud and big entrance. This song shows and hits many different ques and notes as the
song continues to go on. In a few instances you can see the musician play the instrument and you can
see how many different notes he hits. The next example is shown to be played by many violins and

Inner City Paint Case
Industry Eight Small/Medium Entrepreneurial Ventures Inner City Paint Corporation Donald F.
Kuratko and Norman]. Gierlasinski (Revised) HISTORY Stanley Walsh began Inner City Paint
Corporation in a run down warehouse, which he rented, on the fringe of Chicago s downtown business
area. The company is still 10cated at its original site. Inner City is a small company that manufactures
wall paint. It does not compete with giants such as Glidden and DuPont. There are small paint
manufacturers in Chicago that supply the immediate area. The proliferation of paint manufacturers is
due to the fact that the weight of the product (52 12 pounds per 5 gallon container) makes the cost of
shipping great distances prohibitive. Inner City s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Color overruns are tapped off into 2 gallon containers. Inventory records are not kept. The warehouse
manager keeps a mental count of what is in stock. He documents (on a lined yellow pad) what has
been shipped for the day and to whom. That list is given to the billing clerk at the end of each day. The
cost of the materials to produce flat white paint is $2.40 per gallon. The cost per gallon for colors is
approximately 40% 50% higher. The 5 gallon covered plastic pails cost Inner City $1.72 each. The 55
gallon drums (with lids) are $8.35 each. (see Exhibit 1). Selling price varies with the quantity
purchased. To the average customer, flat white sells at $27.45 for 5 gallons and $182.75 for 55
gallons. Colors vary in selling price because of the variety in pigment cost and quantity ordered.
Customers purchase on credit and usually pay their invoices in 30 to 60 days. Inner City telephones
the customer after 60 days of nonpayment and inquires when payment will be made.
MANAGEMENT The President and majority stockholder is Stanley Walsh. He began his career as a
house painter and advanced to become a painter for a large decorating company. Walsh painted mostly
walls in large commercial buildings and hospitals. Eventually, he came to believe that he could
produce a paint that was less expensive and of higher quality than what was being used. A keen desire
to open his own business resulted in the creation of Inner City Paint Corporation.

A Biological Allegory By Sherwood Anderson
A Biological Allegory
In a letter recovered after his mother s death, Sherwood Anderson writes, I have seen my own mother
stand all day over a washtub, washing the dirty linen of the pretentious middle class women not fit to
tie her shoelaces, this just to get her sons enough food to keep them alive, and I presume I shall never
in my life see a working woman without identifying her with my mother (Letters) (Colquitt 19).
Sherwood Anderson was born in 1876, but wrote this short story in the 1930s ( Sherwood Anderson
Dictionary 1). He grew up in poverty in Camden, Ohio. Growing up, his mother was the sole provider
of the family; she sacrificed herself in order to keep her family afloat. Her life served as an inspiration
for his short ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She soons becomes the only source of income they have. Then she settled down to feed stock. That
was her job. At the German s place she had cooked the food for the German and his wife. The wife
was a strong woman with big hips and worked most of the time in the fields with her husband. She fed
them and fed the cows in the barn, fed the pigs, the horses and the chickens. Every moment of every
day, as a young girl, was spent feeding something (Anderson 2). Her one and only job on this farm is
to provide, feed the animals, feed the husband, feed the wife. She spends every moment of every day
feeding others. The description of the German s wife implies that she provides for the husband as well,
but in the form of giving birth. Her big hips show that she is responsible for bearing children. Both
feeding and bearing children were a woman s sole responsibilities during this era. Although the wife s
figure implies her burden of having children, the husband still wants the woman to provide for all of
his physical and emotional needs. After being saved by Jake Grimes, the woman s future husband, she
tells him of her time on the farm. She told Jake a lot of stuff, how the German had tried to get her, how
he chased her once into the barn, how another time, when they happened to be alone in the barn

The Magical Elasticity of Peter Pan Essay
Question:
Explore Peter Hollindale s claim that Peter Pan retains its magical elasticity and its ongoing modernity
(Reader 2, p.159), with reference to different versions since its original production.
Peter Pan whether as a stage play, a book, a stage musical, a live action film or a pantomime has
endured for more than a century as arguably the most famous, and certainly most influential, stories
for children. First performed in 1904, the fairytale drama has been addressing the ever changing
boundaries between childhood and adulthood ever since. Educationalist and literary critic Peter
Hollindale in A Hundred Years of Peter Pan (Reader 2, p. 159) asserts that the play retains its magical
elasticity and its ongoing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This first production included a number of scenes which were cut from later performances, and the
1908 scene entitled An Afterthought was performed just once during Barrie s lifetime. Published in
1957, it has, since the 1980s, become the standardized ending to the play which we now know. Other
alterations to the original script were, according to Nicola J. Watson in her Introduction to Peter Pan
(Reader 2, p. 143), down to the actors themselves. She contends there was improvisation, especially
during Hook s soliloquy, by the actor Gerald du Maurier, while the notion of Peter as untouchable
resulted in the change of actress playing the part. Already we can see the adaptability and elasticity of
Peter Pan the 1928 play script is not an accurate record of how the play was initially performed, but
rather it is the play which Barrie wanted his audience to see in print. The play text includes a
substantial cross over from the 1911 novel Peter and Wendy, and also omits a number of scenes which
were initially played, many largely down to improvisation.
At the time of the play s performance, during the Edwardian era, it was noted by theatre historian
Tracy Davis that Peter Pan was first produced at a transitional moment in stage history , which was
characterized by the waning influence of pantomime, the emergence of the Christmas fairy play, and
the prevalence of realism in straight drama (EA300 Study Guide, p. 145). In

Online Advertising And The Internet
The internet has made everything simple especially in business. The world has changed to become a
global village where all people can access. They do that to check on what is new in the market or the
current trends. Marketers and advertisers have seen an opportunity in the fact that people are always
on the internet. They market their products on the internet by posting them on different websites for
people to be able to see them. That type of advertising that takes place on the internet is referred to as
online marketing or online advertising or internet advertising. It included email marketing, social
media marketing, display advertising, search engine marketing (SEM), and mobile advertising. This
type of marketing involves a publisher who posts the advertisement, with the permission of the owner
of the website to post an advert for the viewers of the website to see. It occurs at a certain fee.
Marketers have mastered the most commonly used websites, like the social media websites where they
post their advertisement for the millions of people in social media to see them. They usually appear in
the screen making it inevitable for a person to view it (Webb, 2007). Online advertisements have been
made possible with the help of online advertising agencies. These are agencies that have specialized in
online marketing. They know the product to place on a certain website because not all advertisements
will go in every website. Each website will have advertisements that are

The Deepwater Horizon Disaster Analysis
The Deepwater horizon disaster portrays the weaknesses in the current drilling technology,
management and design procedures. The outcome of the disaster shows high level of unawareness and
unpreparedness, in the drilling companies. In this section, the report proposes various steps, which
shall not only prepare the team, but also offer a guideline towards the response, in the case a similar
disaster in the future. The proposed solutions include high tech exploration, categorization of the
disasters and the restructuring of management hierarchy in the companies.
1. Conduct high tech hazard exploration
The oil and gas industry should embark on an important next generation series of high tech hazard
exploration systems. It should be done in the deep and ultra deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The
researchers and engineers at onboard relied on the information collected from small scale operations,
which were mainly conducted in the shallow waters. As a result, they had little information, and they
underestimated the magnitude of the disaster. This step is essential because it would have saved the
Deepwater horizon. The assessment should not only be done by BP, but also be a regulation to all
drilling companies, in order to prevent similar disasters in the future.
2. Categorize the disasters into variable magnitudes
The failures identified after the disaster showed that the consequences of the major offshore oil and
gas system failures can be categorized into various orders

1. Describe the setting of the narrator s dream: the house, the drive, the plant life, the general
atmosphere. The narrator opens the novel with the line Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.
At Manderley, there is an iron gate leading to the drive . Upon this gate there is a padlock and chain .
The gate s spokes are rusted and the lodge further down the drive is uninhabited . There is no smoke
coming from the chimney of the lodge and the little lattice windows are open and abandoned. The
drive winds, twists, and turns, however it is different than the narrator remembers. It is now narrow

Consider the opening line. Do you sense that the narrator is relived or yearning for something she can
never have again? Explain why you feel the way you do. The narrator can never go back to Manderley
because the past is still too close to her. The things that she and Maxim have tried to put behind them
would stir again . There would be a sense of fear, or furtive unrest, struggling at length to blind
unreasoning panic . I sense that the narrator yearns for something she can never have again. She
beings to talk about the current circumstances that prevent her from going back such as the past is still
too close to us . This suggests that she is looking forward to a time where the past won t be too close
because she indeed wants to return to Manderley. The extensive description of Manderley in Chapter 1
also suggests that she felt more comfortable there as opposed to her current life. Although she endured
awful things at Manderley, she yearns to return to a place and time where she didn t have such painful
memories, and that was at Manderley.
2. What impression do you get of Maxim in the third paragraph of chapter 2? He looks lost and
puzzled . All expression died away from his dear face as though swept clean by an unseen hand .

In the killing of Jessica Lunsford, who was only a nine year old third grade girl from Homosassa, FL,
John Couey was the main suspect since the beginning of the case since in fact he was a sex offender
who was living right across the street from Jessica at the time of her disappearance. He kidnapped her
in the middle of the night and February of 2005 and brought her back to his home and he raped her.
After he was done sexually assaulting her, he buried her alive in a plastic bag in his own backyard.
When John Couey was finally located, he was in Georgia at which point he confessed to killing
Jessica and where she was located. After the law enforcement in Citrus County undug her corpse, he

Type of Evidence Collected: I collected a fingerprint that was lying on the handle of the door leading
to the backyard that was the main point of interest during the investigation after receiving the lead
from John Couey.
Method used: I used my latent fingerprint dusting powder in order to bring the print to a visible state
to the naked eye and then I used my tape I had to gain a copy of the print off the handle. I then took
the evidence to my forensic vehicle in order to keep it secure for further examination.
Searching for: I collected this evidence and examined it to look for the possible fingerprint of John
Couey which would give us a direct tie to him being at that house.
Summary: This fingerprint was collected at the home where Jessica Lunsford s body was located by
the Citrus County Police at which point I photographed, lifted and collected the print, and secured it in
my vehicle. After I further examined it, I gave it to the officers for them to be able to use it in the
upcoming case as evidence.

When watching the 1996 film, The Birdcage, the first relationship a viewer recognizes is the
relationship between the two main characters, Armand and Albert. They, together, are incredibly
dynamic and display qualities of both a good and a bad partnership. It is easy to see how their non
traditional gay relationship reflects the common principles that apply to typical traditional
relationships. In fact, for the most part their relationship could be categorized as being Pragma.
Devito, refers to this as the practical and traditional. The Pragma lover is practical and seeks a
relationship that will work. Pragma lovers want compatibility and a relationship in which their
important needs and desires will be satisfied (Devito, pg. 260). It

Physical Geography Of Japan
Physical Geography Japan is an asian country that is comprised of 6,852 islands off of the eastern
coast of the asian mainland. This accumulation of islands is known as a stratovolcanic archipelago. An
archipelago is a cluster of islands that are usually volcanic and occurs in subduction zones. Japan is in
the crossroads of four different tectonic plates the Pacific plate, the Philippine plate, the Eurasian plate
and the North American, and due to the plate movement and subduction of all these plates land mass
has been created. The subduction of the Pacific plate resulted in Japan being pulled away from

Temperature Of Alka Seltzer
Alka Seltzer being affected by different temperatures in different cups
Research Question How does the temperature affect the speed in which an Alka Seltzer tablet fully
dissolves in three cups filled with water with different temperatures.
Background Information A chemical reaction is a process that involves change of the molecular or
ionic structure of a substance, as opposed to a change in physical form or a nuclear reaction. The key
concepts of a chemical reaction are:
The atoms and molecules that interact with each other are called reactants
The molecules and atoms produced in a chemical reaction are called products
No atoms are destroyed or created they only end up in other products
Reactants collide with each other so new bonds between atoms in the reactants are broken, and atoms
rearrange and form new bonds to make new products ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A larger concentration of products is usually linked to a lower reaction rate.
Usually an increase in temperature in a chemical reaction means that there will be an increase in the
reaction rate of the reactants. Temperature is a measure of the kinetic energy of a system. If
temperature is the measure of the kinetic energy of a system, higher temperature implies a higher
average kinetic energy of molecules and more collisions per time. This would happen because when
the temperature is increased and the reactants will start moving faster and will collide more than
before with other reactants and will start forming products.
This image explains that the higher the temperature, the concentration, and the pressure the faster the
rate of the reaction is.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Inverter
Abstract: Nowadays an Inverter is most commonly used device in almost every field. An inverter
gives ac square wave output. The objective of this paper is to obtain a three phase ac voltage output of
3 phase inverter in Simulation. An inverter receives dc supply as input and generates an ac output. The
dc input of 3 phase inverter is obtained by constant dc source. The inverter circuit consists of six
IGBTs which are used for conversion of dc to ac supply. Simulation of 3 phase inverter is done in
MATLAB software.
Keywords: 3 phase inverter, constant dc source, MATLAB software, simulink, THD.
Introduction: An inverter is a DC to AC converter, used to convert a dc input voltage into a
symmetrical ac output voltage of desired magnitude and frequency. The waveshape of output ac
voltage of inverter should be sinusoidal. However, practical inverters give output voltage that are non
sinusoidal and contain harmonics. The waveshapes of output voltage are square, quasi square or
distorted sinusoidal. Inverters used in low and medium power applications normally give square or
quasi square wave output. However, in high power applications sinusoidal waveform is required, so
inverters are carefully designed to give sinusoidal output with low distortion. ... Show more content on

In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have
experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory, application,
and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to students and those
not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a paper which will be
useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore, in this paper we
discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and differences between
different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach.
Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and
thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first
qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be
useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003:
347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative analysis.2
For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to use across
different methods. Similarly, Ryan and Bernard (2000) locate thematic coding as a process performed
within „major‟ analytic traditions (such as grounded theory), rather than a

The Biggest Environmental Issues Will Be Discussed
In the following paper many of the biggest environmental issues will be discussed. Complications that
derived from human s ill treatment to the planet. Take, water for example, our basic necessity of life,
yet millions of people do not have access to clean and sanitary water due to pollution; resulting in
millions of people worldwide dying from drinking unsanitary water. Global warming itself due to the
illnesses and the accommodations that it would demand will eventually cause the lives of all living
creatures on earth. Genetic engineering may seem like a good idea on the surface conversely, its
disadvantages are more than the advantages. In the end, if humans do not take action in order to
change all the previously mentioned issues the inevitable outcome will be death for all living creatures
on earth.
Earth has been in existence for an approximation of about 4.5 billion years. Overtime it has evolved to
become the home of 7 billion people, 20 to 50 million different species of animals and roughly 3
trillion trees. As far as we are concerned, it is the only planet in which the conditions are suitable for
life to exist. However, humans have not treated mother earth with kind respect. Instead their selfish
ways have been gradually changing the planet we call our home. The waters are polluted, and due to
numerous burning of fossil fuels releasing carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere, it is causing the
layer of the green gas to get thicker resulting in the climatic to get

parents need to consider the overmedicated children when they take care of their children at home.
Nowadays, the parents are so busy with their jobs, and they make money to support their daily fees.
Their children have to stay with baby sitter, and they will not take care carefully when they stay with

The Fight For Women By Charlotte Butler
The Fight for Women
Document 23.2
The British Parliament s passing of the Contagious Disease Acts in 1866 resulted in Josephine Butler
writing a letter to the International Convention of Women in Washington. The purpose of the act was
to reduce prostitution and sexually transmitted diseases, specifically occurring within the military
forces. Butler s letter included topics, arguments, and political issues women had to work on even
though they were not given the right to vote or engage in politics. Butler starts her letter talking to the
ladies of the Ladies National Association which was assembled in 1869, their goal is to repeal the Acts
of Parliament on 1866 69. She apologizes for her absence at the meeting but her friend Mrs. Steward
was able to attend and be the voice of Butler in the lack of her presence. Butler suggested the
committee needed to elect a delegate who had shown great work in the field and for her Mrs. Steward
was the lady for this position. She had done work not only in England but also Belgium when English
girls were being bought, stolen, and destroyed under the State protected vice. Butler explains that
there are not many of the original women left, she says, There is now a crowd of younger workers
who are bravely preaching the purity crusade and doing excellent vigilance work; while there are few
of the veteran s left who inaugurated in 1869 the fierce contest with our Government, the House of

Application And Application Of Input Controls
Introduction Most firms try their best to protect the data entry process in their companies. As a result,
the current computing platforms come with a variety of applications. Some applications come with
forms, which expect a user to fill in particular details. To use them, consumers require various
interactive components to help them maneuver a page and operate applications. Besides, most website
pages will incorporate input controls into their forms to help consumers utilize applications
conveniently. The user interfaces will ensure that data entered is secure, safe, complete, and accurate.
In this context, users can enter data online or through automated processing platforms. According to

Essentially, the focus should be on elements that promote the control of data accuracy and quality for
the sake of protecting users entering details on the pages. Without user controls, it is likely that the
implementation of data integrity while filling out forms would be impossible. In addition, they help in
the evaluation of data saved in databases, as they ensure that all elements are presented in the same
format. Presentation of data in a similar format makes it simpler to assess and ensure that data
compiled is homogenous in nature. Finally, the validation rules and check routines utilized in input
control functions ensure that data entered in a system is correct and meaningful (Perspective Pixel
Inc., 2014). Such processes guarantee that data presented by users filling a form make sense and is of
a rich quality to the organization in need of the data values entered.
Types and Functions of Input Controls The type of input control utilized is dependent on its function
on a page. Additionally, organizations employ particular user controls with the aim of limiting data
types; hence, facilitate easier manipulation of sent data. In the event that multiple type set of questions
is required for purposes of more accessible analyzes, there is the introduction of different types of
input controls. The input controls help in achieving data accuracy, as

Review Of The Short Story Mojave Rats
As Coretta Scott King once said, The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the
compassionate actions of its members. The short story Mojave Rats by Kristin Valdez Quade explores
the relationship between Monica, who offers no compassion to the people around her, her daughters
Cordelia and Beatrice, and her second husband Elliot. They moved from Los Angeles to Shady Lanes
RV park in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Monica feels superior and out of place and lives convinced that
Elliott will soon finish his geological expedition so that they can climb into academia and live a
flawless and carefree life as a happy family. They live isolated from the rest of their community and
Monica does not have any allies to help her through her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monica is fueled by the enjoyment she feels while tormenting Cordelia. The discipline frightens
Cordelia and most likely further silences her from bringing up and thinking about Monica s past,
which (unsuccessfully) forces Cordelia to immerse herself fully in their new life. The exhilaration that
Monica experiences shows that she is happy to part with her past, but she is simultaneously torn
because she feels that she is not fit for her present conditions and is not ready to settle with them.
Setting aside her motives to hurt Cordelia, Monica s decision to give the dress away is a step in the
right direction of accepting her current state. At the end of the story, Elliot comes home and fixes their
thermostat that had been broken through the whole story. After endless complaints about the cold,
...While her family slept below her in the grey dawn light, she would place her cheek back on the
pillow and watch them, waiting for them to stir, and she wouldn t even notice that she was finally
warm (57). Her family, slept below her , as she looked down on her new family situation feeling like
an outsider. There is an interesting distinction between Monica not feeling the cold and Cordelia s
inability to feel the heat. Monica does not feel that her actions are

Stop Sitting On The Toilet
Title: Why You Need to Stop Sitting On the Toilet: Reasons for Squatting On the Potty

Teaser: About four million Americans suffer from constipation are you one of them?
Article: The modern day toilet, while certainly convenient has one major flaw, it s built for sitting.
And while sitting to eliminate is considered civilized , there s another position that may improve how
you poop. And better elimination means less bloating, straining, hemorrhoids and constipation.
A little history behind sitting
What if I told you there was a more efficient way to poop? The bowel is the body s main elimination
organ, yet amongst many Americans today, this central elimination system is compromised by
something as simple as the position you choose to poop in. If you have less than three bowel
movements a week, then you may be one of the millions suffering from constipation. So, before
constipation gets the best of you, maybe it s time to go back to basics.
The first seated toilets ever built were used primarily for royalty and the disabled. However, after the
advent of indoor plumbing in the 1800s, the water closet was adapted with a porcelain throne to fit the
average home. That meant, common folk could now poop in a civilized manner just like the queen.
But prior to that, our ancestors were squatting

Ethnographic Reflection Paper
For my ethnographic report, I focused on my responses and those of the people I interacted with in
person on 8 November 2016 upon willingly choosing to give up all gadgets and devices with internet
capabilities for 24 hours. Ideally, the decision to disconnect on the 8th revolves around the recently
concluded Presidential elections in the United States. The goal was to ascertain my responses towards
every ongoing off line aspect in my life without any forms of online interaction in order to gauge my
personal understanding of socio political events and debates related to the election. The twenty four
hour disconnection began at midnight and ended on 9 November. The morning of the election was
particularly difficult due to the excitement caused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, everything changed once the election results began to favor Trump. I learnt of the changes
as I shared a meal with my friends after they voted. The terror and despair we each felt reminded me
of the hyper reality Baudrillard foretold in his works about the postmodern society. In Simulation and
Simularca, Baudrillard cites the evidentiary changes observable in the postmodern era, marked mainly
by the emergence of the simulation society (McQueen, 2014, p.8). The defining aspect Baudrillard
notes of this period is the subjection, acceptance and adaptation of the hyper reality presented in forms
of media, art and photography that ultimately define the culture of this period, effectively becoming
the means of discerning and prescribing codes and models that define everyday life for people
(Baldwin, 2015). He believed that the images and spectacles immensely mesmerize the media
saturated consciousness in postmodern society that the meaning behind the depictions becomes less
significant for the people and eventually dissipates into oblivion (Deuz, 2012, p.366). In essence,
media is increasingly becoming the dictator of reality for the postmodern society and Baudrillard
believed the only means of awakening people to this fact would be through an extreme representation
of reality to the point the

The History Of The Term And Practice
The early history of the term and practice terrorism started in the first century with a group of Jewish
collaborators who, assassinated a Roman rule in the one of the province area. During the French
Revolution s Reign of Terror, Jocobin Club who ruled the state applied violence and mass execution to
compel submission to the state and intimidate regime enemies, this where the term terrorism was first
used by the English to describe the events. The practice and term of terrorism have changed over the
years like 1994 the UN General Assembly, describe term terrorism as criminal acts intended or
calculated to provoke a state of terror in general public . And the Department of Homeland Security s
definition of terrorism is any activity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Terrorists who come from Muslim diasporas can be represented in three categories: converts to Islam,
second generation failed conformity and first generation migrants who no fit into their new society.
Some would believe that counter terrorism and immigration are linked to a point in society. The July
7, 2005 (7/7) London bombers were British born Muslims, focused greater attention on the Islamic
community. It was a series of coordinated terrorist suicide bomb attacks in central London. The effect
of the 7/7 bombing resulted in discriminating tensions and negatively impacted social structure, and
has resulted in an even greater degradation of race and religion relations in Britain than did the 9/11
attacks in the United States . The false information and the legitimizing stereotypes were the media s
doing. The events in the Middle East have provided the driving force for activism and recruitment.
The Dutch government s approach to counterterrorism is a law enforcement issue. And some policies
are aimed at preventing radicalization and other social problems . These approaches are being
conducted on a local level so, that multiple agencies and including Islamic organizations are involved
in the decision making. Some of these traits are related to the Department of Homeland Security
policies. The questions of race, religion, and ethnicity are disconnected the most in the United States
than in any

How to Teach during a Tragegy
There was nothing about leaving the school where I taught in New Orleans on Friday afternoon,
August 27, 2005, that led me to believe I wouldn t see most of my colleagues and students ever again.
Bye, see you Monday! I called out to them. On the drive home, I heard weather reports about a
hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico and thought to myself, It probably won t affect New Orleans. By
Saturday, forecasters said the possibility of the storm making landfall near New Orleans had
increased, but I still wasn t alarmed; my family and I were more concerned about attending a Saints
preseason football game in the Superdome along with thousands of other New Orleanians that night.
The predictions for the hurricane hitting New Orleans became more ominous on Sunday, causing the
mayor of our city to order a mandatory evacuation for all residents. My family reluctantly evacuated
the city as we had done so many times before for other hurricanes, none of which had been
devastating. Much like when I left school on Friday, there was nothing about leaving New Orleans
that Sunday that led me to think I would never see my home again.
It became clear by Monday that New Orleans would suffer a near direct hit by a hugely intensified
Hurricane Katrina. Although our city largely withstood the fierce winds and rains brought by the
Category 5 storm, it ultimately fell to the flooding that resulted when an aging levee system breached,
resulting in 80% of the city being underwater, up to 20

My First Day Vacation Essay
Vacation an extended period of recreation, especially one spent away from home or in traveling. This
vacation i ll definitely be far away from home.
We first packed our bags for the trip. Then we drove to the airport. Although we got there a little late
the line wasn t that big We also had special tickets which had us go to the front of the line.
It was my first time ever riding an aircraft my mom said to chew gum for, my ears so they won t pop.
well the first plane I rode was a little smaller than the other aircraft I would ride but it was still fun.
Then we reached our next airport this time the plane was a bigger plane and, way nicer than the other
one. All the window covers were down the whole flight because it had tv s built into the seats so I got
my headphones and watched movies. My third flight of the day was going to Florida, which was our
destination.
It also was a bigger plane with tv s so it didn t feel that long.
When we got to the airport it was super nice and enormous ,so we got our bags. Then we went on this
train type of thing it was fun, yet short in the airport for, us to get to the rental car area to rent a car.
When we did that, we left to a parking garage for rental cars there were a lot of nice cars there. When
we got our call, it was a Van it was nice on the inside. When we reached our hotel it was dark out and,
we were all tired. We had a sweet and my two 10 year cousins slept in one bed my aunt and mom slept
in the other and me and my 13 year

Hopefully, bank loan is not the only source of funding available; friends and family savings may help
a business project too. Alternative finance methods are the peer to peer lending and the invoice
financing, the equity finance and the government grants. However, any prospected businessman has to
be really careful to choose the most appropriate funding body for its business since any source of
funding you may choose has different advantages and disadvantages. It seems that when people lack
any other source of financing, they ask their family or their close friends to contribute in order to
develop their business plans. According to Curran and Blackburn (1993), family loans account for
some 15 percent of start up finance, amongst ethic owned businesses in the UK, making it the largest
source of funds after the bank loans (Basu et al., 2013: 333). One good reason to finance your business
project in cooperation with your family or friends is the increased feeling of liability. This will
definitely help you to develop your own skills, responsibilities and a long standing character. On the
other hand, family finance can be a really dangerous option if momentous clashes suddenly appear
between family members. The family bank and family relationships will eventually be damaged or
destroyed (Babcock, 2013).
Another popular financial method is the peer to peer lending. A type of lending which matches
individual borrowers

Questions On Expectations Affect Your Experiences Essay
Did you know?
Expectations affect your experiences in life.
Meaning: Your outlook going into a situation will affect your outcome.
Example: A child raised in a poor home was always told no when she asks for anything. She d ask for
new shoes or to go on a trip, but they were too poor. Growing up, she began to dislike the word no and
found it nearly impossible to ask anyone for anything. She feared to be told no even when she needed
things badly. So she missed out on opportunities to better herself because she expected the same
negative results that hurt her so long ago. It wasn t until much later in life, through the power of Faith
in Christ, was she free from this fear and began to change and grow. What looks like a tiny mustard
seed has grown into a plant taller than her.
A well know saying:
FAITH, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. Because in those days, it was nearly
impossible to move large amounts of rock and soil. But, look at what we can do today. We move
mountains little by little to make way for roads and bridges. Someone had enough FAITH to do it.
Matthew 17:20 says: He said to them, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have
faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will
move, and nothing will be impossible for you. What situation looks impossible to you?
Stupified! Twice in the bible, Jesus marveled and his chin hit the floor in shock at such great FAITH

  • 2. Things Falll Apart by Chinua Achebe Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a story that portrays the tensions between the white Colonial Government and native born people of Umuofia. Okonkwo, the main character, and a great village man is highly respected in the Igbo tribe of Umuofia. Although, Okonkwo is highly respected by the Igbo people, they are fearful of him because of his violent anger. When the Europeans arrived in Umuofia, they brought with them a new religion: Christianity. The Westerners changed Umuofia, destroyed tradition and destroyed Okonkwo. Things Fall Apart is a great novel recognised for its impact on the world s understanding of Africa and African people. The novel s English translation enabled Achebe to reveal the deep response of the Igbo people to colonisation. Through choosing to write in English, the novel acts as a bridge to reach out to people all across the world. English acts as a new voice and enables a connection between others in the world, which allows for the building and creation of awareness through educating and informing; through the English language, readers from across the globe are introduced to a new culture. This essay will discuss what the novel s English translation made possible for the African writer, Chinua Achebe. Things Fall Apart is a novel about Igbo people and their unique culture. Through the novel, Achebe shows that Africa had a rich history and culture before the arrival of the white man. Achebe rejects the assumptions of imperialist critics and ... • 3. Gcse Fifth Song Instruments The very first music piece started off slow but then flutes and chimes came in and took the song to a different level. It then later on has the same type of beat which helps it continue to flow. I really like the flute solo that was played around the middle of the song. In the next song it starts out as if it is a church choir. The song sounds serious and probably takes part of some ritual or ceremony. The third song sounds very inviting and calm. This song also is song by a choir or a group of people. Throughout the video the church is present so in that case this means that this song had an importance inside the church. The beginning of the fourth song is different by how the drums are the first things you hear. In this song you will also presence all the songs playing at the same time. The ... There are moments in the fifth song in which the violins are played very hard, and that is something different that has happened in this song than the other ones so far. The Hallelujah chorus song which is the sixth example is a song that is still played and heard around churches and the world. This song instantly begins with singing Hallelujah which brings the listeners attention in the first few seconds of the song. The seventh example begins with opera type singing that is meant to be sad and gloomy but precious and elegant all at the same time. This song is shown to pay tribute to an occasion with beautiful singing. The eight example is played with a piano and it all begins with a loud and big entrance. This song shows and hits many different ques and notes as the song continues to go on. In a few instances you can see the musician play the instrument and you can see how many different notes he hits. The next example is shown to be played by many violins and accompanied by a ... • 4. Inner City Paint Case Industry Eight Small/Medium Entrepreneurial Ventures Inner City Paint Corporation Donald F. Kuratko and Norman]. Gierlasinski (Revised) HISTORY Stanley Walsh began Inner City Paint Corporation in a run down warehouse, which he rented, on the fringe of Chicago s downtown business area. The company is still 10cated at its original site. Inner City is a small company that manufactures wall paint. It does not compete with giants such as Glidden and DuPont. There are small paint manufacturers in Chicago that supply the immediate area. The proliferation of paint manufacturers is due to the fact that the weight of the product (52 12 pounds per 5 gallon container) makes the cost of shipping great distances prohibitive. Inner City s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Color overruns are tapped off into 2 gallon containers. Inventory records are not kept. The warehouse manager keeps a mental count of what is in stock. He documents (on a lined yellow pad) what has been shipped for the day and to whom. That list is given to the billing clerk at the end of each day. The cost of the materials to produce flat white paint is $2.40 per gallon. The cost per gallon for colors is approximately 40% 50% higher. The 5 gallon covered plastic pails cost Inner City $1.72 each. The 55 gallon drums (with lids) are $8.35 each. (see Exhibit 1). Selling price varies with the quantity purchased. To the average customer, flat white sells at $27.45 for 5 gallons and $182.75 for 55 gallons. Colors vary in selling price because of the variety in pigment cost and quantity ordered. Customers purchase on credit and usually pay their invoices in 30 to 60 days. Inner City telephones the customer after 60 days of nonpayment and inquires when payment will be made. MANAGEMENT The President and majority stockholder is Stanley Walsh. He began his career as a house painter and advanced to become a painter for a large decorating company. Walsh painted mostly walls in large commercial buildings and hospitals. Eventually, he came to believe that he could produce a paint that was less expensive and of higher quality than what was being used. A keen desire to open his own business resulted in the creation of Inner City Paint Corporation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Biological Allegory By Sherwood Anderson A Biological Allegory In a letter recovered after his mother s death, Sherwood Anderson writes, I have seen my own mother stand all day over a washtub, washing the dirty linen of the pretentious middle class women not fit to tie her shoelaces, this just to get her sons enough food to keep them alive, and I presume I shall never in my life see a working woman without identifying her with my mother (Letters) (Colquitt 19). Sherwood Anderson was born in 1876, but wrote this short story in the 1930s ( Sherwood Anderson Dictionary 1). He grew up in poverty in Camden, Ohio. Growing up, his mother was the sole provider of the family; she sacrificed herself in order to keep her family afloat. Her life served as an inspiration for his short ... At the German s place she had cooked the food for the German and his wife. The wife was a strong woman with big hips and worked most of the time in the fields with her husband. She fed them and fed the cows in the barn, fed the pigs, the horses and the chickens. Every moment of every day, as a young girl, was spent feeding something (Anderson 2). Her one and only job on this farm is to provide, feed the animals, feed the husband, feed the wife. She spends every moment of every day feeding others. The description of the German s wife implies that she provides for the husband as well, but in the form of giving birth. Her big hips show that she is responsible for bearing children. Both feeding and bearing children were a woman s sole responsibilities during this era. Although the wife s figure implies her burden of having children, the husband still wants the woman to provide for all of his physical and emotional needs. After being saved by Jake Grimes, the woman s future husband, she tells him of her time on the farm. • 6. The Magical Elasticity of Peter Pan Essay Question: Explore Peter Hollindale s claim that Peter Pan retains its magical elasticity and its ongoing modernity (Reader 2, p.159), with reference to different versions since its original production. Peter Pan whether as a stage play, a book, a stage musical, a live action film or a pantomime has endured for more than a century as arguably the most famous, and certainly most influential, stories for children. First performed in 1904, the fairytale drama has been addressing the ever changing boundaries between childhood and adulthood ever since. Educationalist and literary critic Peter Hollindale in A Hundred Years of Peter Pan (Reader 2, p. 159) asserts that the play retains its magical elasticity and its ongoing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This first production included a number of scenes which were cut from later performances, and the 1908 scene entitled An Afterthought was performed just once during Barrie s lifetime. Published in 1957, it has, since the 1980s, become the standardized ending to the play which we now know. Other alterations to the original script were, according to Nicola J. Watson in her Introduction to Peter Pan (Reader 2, p. 143), down to the actors themselves. She contends there was improvisation, especially during Hook s soliloquy, by the actor Gerald du Maurier, while the notion of Peter as untouchable resulted in the change of actress playing the part. Already we can see the adaptability and elasticity of Peter Pan the 1928 play script is not an accurate record of how the play was initially performed, but rather it is the play which Barrie wanted his audience to see in print. The play text includes a substantial cross over from the 1911 novel Peter and Wendy, and also omits a number of scenes which were initially played, many largely down to improvisation. At the time of the play s performance, during the Edwardian era, it was noted by theatre historian Tracy Davis that Peter Pan was first produced at a transitional moment in stage history , which was characterized by the waning influence of pantomime, the emergence of the Christmas fairy play, and the prevalence of realism in straight drama (EA300 Study Guide, p. 145). • 7. Online Advertising And The Internet The internet has made everything simple especially in business. The world has changed to become a global village where all people can access. They do that to check on what is new in the market or the current trends. Marketers and advertisers have seen an opportunity in the fact that people are always on the internet. They market their products on the internet by posting them on different websites for people to be able to see them. That type of advertising that takes place on the internet is referred to as online marketing or online advertising or internet advertising. It included email marketing, social media marketing, display advertising, search engine marketing (SEM), and mobile advertising. This type of marketing involves a publisher who posts the advertisement, with the permission of the owner of the website to post an advert for the viewers of the website to see. It occurs at a certain fee. Marketers have mastered the most commonly used websites, like the social media websites where they post their advertisement for the millions of people in social media to see them. They usually appear in the screen making it inevitable for a person to view it (Webb, 2007). Online advertisements have been made possible with the help of online advertising agencies. These are agencies that have specialized in online marketing. They know the product to place on a certain website because not all advertisements will go in every website. • 8. The Deepwater Horizon Disaster Analysis The Deepwater horizon disaster portrays the weaknesses in the current drilling technology, management and design procedures. The outcome of the disaster shows high level of unawareness and unpreparedness, in the drilling companies. In this section, the report proposes various steps, which shall not only prepare the team, but also offer a guideline towards the response, in the case a similar disaster in the future. The proposed solutions include high tech exploration, categorization of the disasters and the restructuring of management hierarchy in the companies. 1. Conduct high tech hazard exploration The oil and gas industry should embark on an important next generation series of high tech hazard exploration systems. It should be done in the deep and ultra deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The researchers and engineers at onboard relied on the information collected from small scale operations, which were mainly conducted in the shallow waters. As a result, they had little information, and they underestimated the magnitude of the disaster. This step is essential because it would have saved the Deepwater horizon. The assessment should not only be done by BP, but also be a regulation to all drilling companies, in order to prevent similar disasters in the future. 2. Categorize the disasters into variable magnitudes The failures identified after the disaster showed that the consequences of the major offshore oil and gas system failures can be categorized into various orders ... There would be a sense of fear, or furtive unrest, struggling at length to blind unreasoning panic . I sense that the narrator yearns for something she can never have again. She beings to talk about the current circumstances that prevent her from going back such as the past is still too close to us . This suggests that she is looking forward to a time where the past won t be too close because she indeed wants to return to Manderley. The extensive description of Manderley in Chapter 1 also suggests that she felt more comfortable there as opposed to her current life. Temperature Of Alka Seltzer Alka Seltzer being affected by different temperatures in different cups Research Question How does the temperature affect the speed in which an Alka Seltzer tablet fully dissolves in three cups filled with water with different temperatures. Background Information A chemical reaction is a process that involves change of the molecular or ionic structure of a substance, as opposed to a change in physical form or a nuclear reaction. The key concepts of a chemical reaction are: The atoms and molecules that interact with each other are called reactants The molecules and atoms produced in a chemical reaction are called products No atoms are destroyed or created they only end up in other products Reactants collide with each other so new bonds between atoms in the reactants are broken, and atoms rearrange and form new bonds to make new products ... If temperature is the measure of the kinetic energy of a system, higher temperature implies a higher average kinetic energy of molecules and more collisions per time. This would happen because when the temperature is increased and the reactants will start moving faster and will collide more than before with other reactants and will start forming products. • 14. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Inverter Abstract: Nowadays an Inverter is most commonly used device in almost every field. An inverter gives ac square wave output. The objective of this paper is to obtain a three phase ac voltage output of 3 phase inverter in Simulation. An inverter receives dc supply as input and generates an ac output. The dc input of 3 phase inverter is obtained by constant dc source. The inverter circuit consists of six IGBTs which are used for conversion of dc to ac supply. Simulation of 3 phase inverter is done in MATLAB software. Keywords: 3 phase inverter, constant dc source, MATLAB software, simulink, THD. Introduction: An inverter is a DC to AC converter, used to convert a dc input voltage into a symmetrical ac output voltage of desired magnitude and frequency. The waveshape of output ac voltage of inverter should be sinusoidal. However, practical inverters give output voltage that are non sinusoidal and contain harmonics. The waveshapes of output voltage are square, quasi square or distorted sinusoidal. Inverters used in low and medium power applications normally give square or quasi square wave output. However, in high power applications sinusoidal waveform is required, so inverters are carefully designed to give sinusoidal output with low distortion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this paper, we aim to fill what we, as researchers and teachers in qualitative psychology, have experienced as a current gap: the absence of a paper which adequately outlines the theory, application, and evaluation of thematic analysis, and one which does so in a way accessible to students and those not particularly familiar with qualitative research. 1 That is, we aim to write a paper which will be useful as both a teaching and research tool in qualitative psychology. Therefore, in this paper we discuss theory and method for thematic analysis, and clarify the similarities and differences between different approaches that share features in common with a thematic approach. Qualitative approaches are incredibly diverse, complex and nuanced (Holloway Todres, 2003), and thematic analysis should be seen as a foundational method for qualitative analysis. It is the first qualitative method of analysis that researchers should learn, as it provides core skills that will be useful for conducting many other forms of qualitative analysis. Indeed, Holloway and Todres (2003: 347) identify thematizing meanings as one of a few shared generic skills across qualitative analysis.2 For this reason, Boyatzis (1998) characterises it not as a specific method but as a tool to use across different methods. Take, water for example, our basic necessity of life, yet millions of people do not have access to clean and sanitary water due to pollution; resulting in millions of people worldwide dying from drinking unsanitary water. Global warming itself due to the illnesses and the accommodations that it would demand will eventually cause the lives of all living creatures on earth. Genetic engineering may seem like a good idea on the surface conversely, its disadvantages are more than the advantages. In the end, if humans do not take action in order to change all the previously mentioned issues the inevitable outcome will be death for all living creatures on earth. Earth has been in existence for an approximation of about 4.5 billion years. Overtime it has evolved to become the home of 7 billion people, 20 to 50 million different species of animals and roughly 3 trillion trees. As far as we are concerned, it is the only planet in which the conditions are suitable for life to exist. However, humans have not treated mother earth with kind respect. Instead their selfish ways have been gradually changing the planet we call our home. The waters are polluted, and due to numerous burning of fossil fuels releasing carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere, it is causing the layer of the green gas to get thicker resulting in the climatic to get ... The Fight For Women By Charlotte Butler The Fight for Women Document 23.2 The British Parliament s passing of the Contagious Disease Acts in 1866 resulted in Josephine Butler writing a letter to the International Convention of Women in Washington. The purpose of the act was to reduce prostitution and sexually transmitted diseases, specifically occurring within the military forces. A little history behind sitting What if I told you there was a more efficient way to poop? If you have less than three bowel movements a week, then you may be one of the millions suffering from constipation. So, before constipation gets the best of you, maybe it s time to go back to basics. The first seated toilets ever built were used primarily for royalty and the disabled. The terror and despair we each felt reminded me of the hyper reality Baudrillard foretold in his works about the postmodern society. In Simulation and Simularca, Baudrillard cites the evidentiary changes observable in the postmodern era, marked mainly by the emergence of the simulation society (McQueen, 2014, p.8). The defining aspect Baudrillard notes of this period is the subjection, acceptance and adaptation of the hyper reality presented in forms of media, art and photography that ultimately define the culture of this period, effectively becoming the means of discerning and prescribing codes and models that define everyday life for people (Baldwin, 2015). He believed that the images and spectacles immensely mesmerize the media saturated consciousness in postmodern society that the meaning behind the depictions becomes less significant for the people and eventually dissipates into oblivion (Deuz, 2012, p.366). In essence, media is increasingly becoming the dictator of reality for the postmodern society and Baudrillard believed the only means of awakening people to this fact would be through an extreme representation of reality to the point the ... Example: A child raised in a poor home was always told no when she asks for anything. She d ask for new shoes or to go on a trip, but they were too poor. Growing up, she began to dislike the word no and found it nearly impossible to ask anyone for anything. She feared to be told no even when she needed things badly. So she missed out on opportunities to better herself because she expected the same negative results that hurt her so long ago. It wasn t until much later in life, through the power of Faith in Christ, was she free from this fear and began to change and grow. What looks like a tiny mustard seed has grown into a plant taller than her. A well know saying: FAITH, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. Because in those days, it was nearly impossible to move large amounts of rock and soil. But, look at what we can do today. We move mountains little by little to make way for roads and bridges. Someone had enough FAITH to do it. Matthew 17:20 says: He said to them, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.
