Alleles Lab Report
The Effect of Regularity of Environmental Disasters on Allele Frequencies in a Moth Population
The purpose of this experiment was to determine how changing environmental factors would affect
the allele frequencies in a population of white, brown, and black moths. More specifically, the aim
was to see if final allele frequencies would coincide with the Hardy Weinberg theory of evolution, or
if genetic drift, amplified by environmental disasters, would play a significant role in the outcome of
the experiment.
The results of the experiment were analyzed using a Chi squared test. Expected results were calculated
for a hypothetical situation where the population of moths corresponded with the Hardy Weinberg
theory, and these expected results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(4) When a population changes (either increases or decreases) for seemingly no reason, genetic drift is
most often to blame. (1) Frequencies of alleles available in the gene pool for that population are
subject to change when evolution takes place, and one or more alleles can sometimes vanish.
Populations with fewer organisms often experience more substantial genetic drift, due to the fact that
if there is less of an allele in a gene pool during a generation, there is a higher risk that a large amount
of that allele will be removed just due to random chance genetic drift. (4) It is important to note that
the final population during the frequent disasters trial became 243 from an original 4000 when one of
the alleles ( a ) was lost. This is considered a population bottleneck (4) where the population decreased
by a significant amount. In a situation like this, there are fewer alleles available in the gene pool of
that population for that generation, so there is a bigger chance that genetic drift will accidently cause
the loss of a substantial portion of one of the alleles, driving it to discontinuation.

The Charter Of The United Nations
Chapter I | United Nations. UN News Center. UN, n.d. Web. 21 Mar. 2016. This article was a posting
of the first chapter of the Charter of the United Nations. In it, it details the purposes and principles of
the United Nations thus allowing me to have a better understanding of why the United nations was
created. It was created for the purpose of maintaining international peace and security, and to that end:
to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the
suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful
means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement
of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace. Overall, the
organization is meant to maintain peaceful relations and create peaceful resolutions to conflicts. The
source is reliable as it was written by the United Nations, the organization it is describing, and their

Karl Marx s View Of Communism
Karl Marx went to three universities before graduating and receiving his degree. He is a German
scholar who disliked Russia his whole life. Communism or Marxism is the belief that everything is
owned by everyone, not one individual. Karl Marx first thought of the idea of communism in 1848
when he created the Communist Manifesto. He came up with the idea of communism as a result of the
failing capitalist system. Karl Marx has influenced many countries today with his writings and beliefs
of communism.
The life of Karl Marx had its ups and downs. He was born on May 5, 1818 in Trier, Rhine Province,
Prussia. He was the oldest of 9 children. His father was a lawyer and the Man of the Enlightenment.
Both Karl Marx s parents had a Jewish background. As Karl got older he also got more reckless. He
did not manage money well and was occasionally broke. When Karl went to college, he went to the
University of Bonn(3). It was a rebellious school. He later was imprisoned for drunkenness and

Since, he could not earn a living wage he did not have a stable living, which was hard for him to be
able to survive on his own. Karl had to rely heavily on his friend Friedrich Engels, the other creator of
the Communist Manifesto. He did not have much money and most people did not like him because of
his beliefs and his works. Many governments were threatened by the writings of Karl Marx, for in fear
of a revolution in their own countries. Later, in his years of staying in Britain he become distant from

Gold Digger Song Analysis
In the year of 2005, Kanye West released his second album of that year, Late Registration, containing
one of his biggest hits. The song Gold Digger is about how rich men must always be on guard of
women who will manipulate and lie their way into a man s life explicitly for money and possibly
fame. Gold Digger, being one of his most popular songs, peaked at number one on the US Billboard
Hot 100. The song received 13 nominations for awards and won 4 different awards, one being a
Grammy for best solo rap performance. By the year 2011, Kanye West s hit single had sold over 3
million copies in the United States. Since then, Gold Digger has been recreated, rewritten, and covered

Twin Caverns remade Kanye s hit song in a way that points out how the song can become nearly any
type of genre that an artist would want it to be; whether it be rap, soft rock, pop or country music. The
original song, however, is meant to be more upbeat and in a rap melody in order for it to attain the best
results possible. Twin Caverns were not able to fit the entire original song into their version because of
the tempo they set forth. If they had done so the song would be a seven minute song where people
would not take the time to listen to the song. This, however, hurt the song tremendously because a lot
of what was left out was important to the original story Kanye produced in his song. What made the
song so successful was that Twin Caverns delivered an alternative song from the original raunchy rap
song to a soothing song that can calm a person. It is also successful because the song is nearly
unrecognizable from the original. The reworking that was done to the song, in a way, slows down the
world around the listener and makes them take a step back and relax. These songs together show just
how much potential Kanye s hit song has and it has been shown through many other

The Pros And Cons Of Year-Round School
Imagine it is the very end of the school year. The sun is shining brightly and heat courses down on the
heads of eager students of Forest Park. Summer vacation is here! Right? A break from the tests,

The subject of year round school at Forest Park has been talked about for quite some time now. There
are those who are opposed to the idea and some in favor. Staff has concerned themselves with
throwing their opinions into the mix, but has any of them stopped and thought about what the students

Essay about The Maori Culture
The Maori Culture
Introduction The following paper examines the history and religion of the ancient Maori people. It is
my belief that exploration of traditional belief systems and ritualistic practices will lead to a greater
understanding of the Maori culture in present day New Zealand. The objective of the paper is to
illustrate the Maoris unique perception and spiritual connection with their natural environment.
Brief Maori History
The Maori, Children of Heaven , are the indigenous people of New Zealand. It has been thought that
Polynesian navigator Kupe, discovered New Zealand in 950 AD, and named the island Aotearoa, Land
of the long white cloud .1 The Maori migrated to New Zealand from the tropical islands of ... Show

The traditional legend begins with Rangi (the sky father) and Papa (the earth mother) uniting to give
birth to numerous offspring: gods of the sea, forest, wind, wild food, planted food, and mankind.5
Once born, the children constantly quarreled with one another in the darkness and finally decided to
separate their parents to create light. The god of the wind, opposed to the idea, fled to the sky where
his anger manifested into thunder and lightening. Disregarding his brother s opinion, the god of the
forest successfully separated his parents loving embrace. The disconnection enabled life to flourish
and thrive throughout the land. Unfortunately, Rangi and Papa were forever separated. Rangi s
constant flow of tears filled the oceans and lakes. To this day, many Maori believe that Rangi and Papa
s infinite sorrow is responsible for the dew, mist and rain.5
Maori religion is largely based on the ancient legend of Rangi and Papa. The religion promotes a deep
connection and respect for nature. It is their belief that all life possesses mauri (life force), wairau
(spirit), and mana (power, influence, and charisma).3 This universal life force is traditionally

Total Rewards
Running head: TOTAL REWARDS
Total Rewards: Strategically Achieving Business Results
Strayer University
Abstract
Total Rewards reflects what employees value from its employer. It focuses on five elements that
attract, motivate, and retain the talent to achieve business goals. These elements are: Compensation,
Benefits, Work Life, Performance and Recognition and Development and Career Opportunities
(WorldatWork, 2007, p. 4). This paper describes the five advantages of a total rewards approach, five
ways a total rewards strategy can go astray, six steps involved in the design of a total rewards program
and eight steps involved in the communication process of a total reward program (WorldatWork, 2007,
p. 15 64). Finally, the paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The organization must look at the current rewards, and assess the rewards mix and its effectiveness
(WorldatWork, 2007, p. 28). Next step is establishing a total reward strategy that links to the
organizational goals, culture, and change efforts (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 32). Once the strategy has
been identified, developing an effective rewards strategy requires determining the purpose and scope
of the program, eligibility of individuals in specifics aspects of the program, a baseline for
measurement and goals, funding for the program, selection and structure of the plan and the timeline
for implementation (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 35). After plan development, the action begins
implementation. This involves obtaining management approval, forming an implementation team and
conducting pilot test of the plan, before communicating to the entire organization (WorldatWork,
2007, p. 39 40). Once the plan is implemented, communication begins by educating employees on the
plan and showing how it links to the overall business strategy. This step helps set the plan expectations
and aids in the employee understanding of a total rewards package. The information allows employees
to make better career choices and confirms the organization s commitment, which builds trust and
loyalty (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 40). Evaluation and revision is the final step of the process.

Symphony Orchestra Performance Analysis Essay
Performance Analysis of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine An analysis of a performance
by The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine proves that the concert is an example of three types
of classical music. Classical music features numerous instruments played by skilled experts. The
instruments used can belong to a range of instrumental groups, including: brass, string, percussion,
and woodwind. As the name implies, the instrumental groups used by this ensemble exhibit elements
of a symphonic orchestra. Examples of the types of instruments heavily used throughout the concert
include: violin, cello, clarinet, flute, trombone, drum, harp, and numerous other percussions. For each
instrument, there are multiple players. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people came dressed in formal attire and the largest groups were older listeners and families. As
being a Symphony Orchestra from the Ukraine, there was a large number of Ukrainian people in the
audience. Before the concert began, I spoke to an older gentleman in front of me. He was Ukrainian,
and was excited to hear the concert. Many other people came up to him to greet him before the show.
Seemingly, there was a close community of Ukrainian people in the surrounding area, that all came to
see the concert. As America has so many different nationalities within such a large country, it is
evident how a concert like this may affect communities and help Americans honor their ancestors.
There was a large number of female musicians in the orchestra. Although mostly string, it is important
to note this and many seemed very young, while other players seemed older. The orchestra was widely
diverse in terms of age and gender. Putting aside the newer suite, two of the compositions played were
played historically accurate to what could ve been played in the nineteenth century. It was an Eastern
European orchestra, but the famous compositions played have meaning in American music as well.
Mostly being introduced in the twentieth century, classical concert European concert music like those

Summary Of Chronic Illness By Liz Shaw-Stabler
Patient doctor relationships may be strained and antagonistic for those with lupus. This is because the
physician s experience varies from the lived experience by the patients. It is common for patients with
chronic diseases to struggle to appear as credible patients to their physicians, thus, patients with lupus
may use different strategies to receive treatment for their undiagnosed chronic pain (Class notes:
Chronic Illness ppt, 2016). Patients with lupus may experience a power differential with their
physicians because of their medical knowledge. Most patient doctor relationships of those with
chronic illnesses are mutual. This is when the physician offers advice and technical information but
allows the patient to have full participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shaw Stabler has battled systematic lupus for several years, enduring serious side effects, such as
kidney failure, along the way. In her narrative, Live with the Wolf and Surviving Lupus, she provides
optimistic views to patients struggling with lupus. She does this by encouraging lupus patients to keep
the faith and continue the fight, (Shaw Stabler, 2010 14). She goes onto explain that communication
with one s body is key when dealing with a chronic diseases such as lupus. This is because you can
only take action once you know what your body is trying to communicate with you. For Shaw Stabler,
she began to listen to her body is 1978. This is when she discovered that she had lupus. The author
acknowledges the fact that having lupus is hard; Too often our disabilities are invisible, and in our
culture, if one isn t missing a limb or an eye or even bleeding visibly, they are not seen as being
disabled, (Shaw Stabler, 2010 16). This maintains the notion that those with chronic diseases do not fit
the sick role clearly. The sick role is defined as social expectations regarding how society should view
sick people and how sick people should behave (Class notes: Social Meanings of Illness ppt

Sir Isaac Newton s Scientific Revolution
Sir Isaac Newton, one of the leading figures of the scientific revolution, discovered numerous
fundamental laws of physics. Here s the catch he started discovering them at just 23 years old! Isaac
Newton s scientific work throughout the 17th century impacted the modern world with a turning point
in history that would change the way we deal with modern science and mathematics. Isaac Newton is
often referred to as the father of science, an honorary name. Newton s work has greatly impacted not
only the ways we study and use science, but our everyday lives as well. For example, Newton also
discovered the laws of motion (force, inertia, reaction), gravity, and light s components. His work was
studied using experiments that questioned the natural world and tested hypotheses. His system of
calculus showed extreme thinking and high intelligence. Newton s life and work is one of the most
predominant turning points of the Scientific Revolution and the mathematical pursuit of knowledge,
including his laws of physics, experimentation that can be repeated, predicted, and verified today, and
the anticipation, development, and rigorization of calculus.
The new knowledge presented and demonstrated by Isaac Newton in the 17th century includes motion
(force, inertia, reaction), universal gravity, and even the principles of how light works, all key
elements of physics. Newton, like all physicists, developed and used equations to support and
demonstrate his hypotheses. His equations and laws

A Raisin In The Sun Fate Vs Free Will Essay
In the texts, A Raisin in the Sun and Antigone, written by Lorraine Hansberry and Sophocles,
respectively, the lens of Fate vs. Free Will is exposed within the situations and dialogues in these
plays. However, to analyze these plays with this lens perspective, one must first recognize what this
lens pertains to. The lens of Fate vs. Free Will pertains to the perspective of analyzing events in a story
and deciding whether they occur due to a predetermined destiny, or rather, a choice made by a
character s own decision or free will. Some may argue, that no matter what, events happen only out of
one of these choices. Now in some opinions, that may hold some validity. However, this can be proved
otherwise. In A Raisin in the Sun, the Younger family, a lower class black family in Chicago, awaits an
insurance check, sent in commemoration of the late father of Walter and Beneatha Younger, and the
husband of Lena Younger. There coexist many views on how to use the money, the prominent ones
being Walter s aspiration of opening a liquor store, Lena s aspiration of purchasing a house, ... Show

However, the perspective being taken here is that both fate and free will control these events. In A
Raisin in the Sun, the character, Walter, wants to open a liquor store with some of the money obtained
from the insurance check. This is an example of free will. In Antigone, Creon s close family, Eurydice,
Haemon and Antigone, all kill themselves because of Creon s harsh actions. This is an example of
fate. In these plays, examples of both fate and free will exist and prove that both control the events
that happen to these characters. Therefore, both fate and free will control the events in A Raisin in the
Sun and Antigone, as proved by the events that happen out of a character s decision, the destined
outcome, and the way the events progress based on fate and free

Computer Storage History
Computers are amazing. They allow us to play games, take notes, watch movies, and even design
buildings. In order to do these things we need a way to access it in the form of computer storage.
Computer storage is a fundamental component of a computer, it allows us to save and load things.
Storage is space in a computer where data is to be processed and instructions required for processing
are stored. There are two units of memory which is primary storage and secondary storage. Primary
storage is the immediate access store where programs are located while they are running. Secondary
storage is used to hold data that is not currently being executed. There are several different types of
memory that our computer uses such as registers, cache, and tertiary storage. For the purpose of this
essay, we will go over the history or memory. We will focus on the memories past, where it started and
the early advancements. We will also talk about memories present, and how it is used today. Lastly, we
will go over the future of memory and how memory is advancing.
First, we will talk about the memory s past how it started, what are some things that got us to where
we are today. Memory started off all the way back to the ancient Egyptians where they would record
hieroglyphs. When it came to computers, storage started off as more of a physical object than digital.
Memory was in the form of paper with holes punched in it to store information called punched cards.
The computer would read the

Spring Lake Creek is located off of County road E in Sawyer County. The Spring Lake creek has a
culvert that goes under County road E to Spring Lake. The culvert has the water flowing from Spring
Lake into Spring Lake creek. With the road right by Spring Lake creek, one would think how much of
the runoff from the road affect the water quality and invertebrate life. That is exactly the hypothesis a
group from the Fresh Water Ecology class had come up with and wanted to experiment by testing two

DDT was very persistent in the environment and can travel long distances in the upper atmosphere

body lice (epa, 2015). Around the year 2000, The Wisconsin DNR washed out their firefighting foam

possible that there were species in Spring Lake creek that are no longer in there due to that event

The Concept Of Sin In Dante Alighieri s Inferno
Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the first of three books in The Divine Comedy. A comedy in Dante s time
didn t mean what it means today: a comedy was a piece of literature that moved from dark to light or
from damnation to salvation in the eyes of God. In The Inferno, Dante delves into darkness and
damnation, and his view of the nature of Hell. Dante was a devout Catholic, so most of his inspiration
for The Inferno came from the Bible. In Dante s version of Hell, there are nine circles that reach to the
center of the Earth: Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Avarice and Prodigality, Wrath and Sullenness, Heresy,
Violence, Fraud, and Treachery. Those who commit the least severe sins are put near the top, as in
Limbo, and the worst sins at the bottom come with the worst punishments. Dante, the character in the
book, is escorted by the poet Virgil to literally explore Dante s descent into sin. To better understand
the book s concept of sin, the reader should compare the least sinful part of Hell, Limbo, to the most
sinful part of Hell, the ninth circle where Satan is kept.
The poem begins with Dante waking up in a forest. Dante tries to climb the mountain and sees three
beasts: a leopard, a lion, and a wolf. Later, Dante meets Virgil, a Roman poet Dante is fond of, to help
him climb the mountain. Virgil says they have to go through Hell first before reaching Heaven, where
Beatrice, a woman Dante loved in real life, will be waiting for him. Eventually, Dante and Virgil get to

from artisans, to scientists, sculptors, philosophers, painters, and poets. It would have been exciting
seeing them bustling around in a day to day environment, I could only imagine, walking into the

monumentality of this undertaking was truly enormous task, at over 5500 sq. ft. This was the

The Chinese Capitalist Essay
In a New York Times article dated February 20th, 1997, author Patrick E. Tyler writes about a political
wizard who put China on the road to capitalism. The Chinese capitalist (this is not capitalism in a
western sense, but more of a communist/capitalist mix) Revolution is very significant in the study of
world history; especially considering the Maoist form of government it sprang from. Notably, there is
one small statured Chinese leader who this essay will focus on in the context of the revolution: Deng

inquired what he hoped to learn in France. What could motivate such a young Chinese boy to make
such a big move? Deng simply repeated the idea he had learned from his teachers: To learn knowledge
and truth from the West in order to save China. (Stewart). He was attune to China s great suffering,
and that the Chinese people needed a modern education if they hoped to save their country. During the
early part of the program, Deng temporarily attended middle schools in Bayeux and Châtillon,
however he spent the large majority of his time in France working. He first worked as a fitter at the Le
Creusot Iron and Steel Plant in a southwestern suburb of Paris where he eventually moved in April
1921. In La Garenne Colombes (where he lived) Deng met and was influenced by a number of more
mature Chinese intellectuals. While under the influence of these older Chinese students in France,
Deng began to look deeply into Marxist thought. In 1921 he joined the Chinese Communist Youth
League in Europe. Later, in 1924, he joined the Chinese Communist Party. In 1926 Deng traveled to
the Soviet Union and studied at Moscow Sun Yat sen University. As fate would have it, one of his
classmates was Chiang Ching kuo,

Building A Relationship With California Baptist...
Buoyant, malleable, light hearted, joyful, unwavering faith, strength in experience, and wisdom are all
tools that have helped me maneuver through the storms.
Throughout my life, I have positioned myself to succeed regardless of the opposition. That has been
the story since day one: my father being in and out of prison, moving from state to state, and never
settling in one spot for too long. I joined the United States Marine Corps as soon as it was legal, in
order to position myself in the direction of success. I have done well; I have gotten myself out of
Baltimore City, I have started a wonderful family, and I no longer have the opposition that once
surrounded me. However, the will and determination that fueled me is evermore present. My internal
mission made a shift, from surviving storms to thriving times.
My intent in the building a relationship with California Baptist University MBA program is simple: to
the change the way entrepreneurs approach the Hospitality Industry, because of the impact I will make
in the industry due to the knowledge and experience gained at California Baptist University MBA
program. Life has thrown me a wonderful opportunity. The owner of our company, Pizza:90, has
started a Hospitality Group. We have five restaurants, including three restaurant concepts, Napoletana
Pizzeria, Fine Italian Trattoria, and a Hawaiian Restaurant. I have been present in the company since
its conception, and the responsibilities bestowed on me have been

Writing Style Essay
Writing Style
I hear inner Strunk and White voices of don t overwrite , write in a way that comes naturally, and so
forth, going through my head. I have visions of endless Williams examples and illustrations on clarity.
I see weeks of blog writings flashing through my memory. From all of this, I now own and believe in
a firm and personal definition of what style is and what good writing entails. William Strunk and E.B.
White s book The Elements of Style, along with Joseph M. Williams s book Style Toward Clarity and
Grace helped lead me to this point, which is: what is the point?
What really matters when we consider the style of writing? What makes good writing good? Every
writer could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There must be guidelines. Strunk and White and Williams share those thoughts with their readers, and
while I do not agree with all of their rules, as a writer, I believe within these style books I have found
guidelines in which writers can fulfill their purpose. As a reader, I feel that if writers follow some of
the guidelines Strunk and White and Williams have to offer to the world, I can come away from a
piece of writing affected.
The next question would be: how is a reader affected? Well, a reader cannot be affected unless a piece
of writing is presented clearly. A piece of writing must be written in a way that any person can pick it
up, read it, and not only understand the point the author is trying to convey through her/his writing,
but be able to follow the flow of information. For that to take place, the information must be presented
in a clear manner. I believe this to be an important part of style; without it the style of a piece of
writing can be lost.
One of Strunk and White s principles of composition suggests that writers express coordinate ideas in
similar form. It goes on to explain that, ...expressions similar in content and function be outwardly
similar. The likeness of form enables the reader to recognize more readily the likeness of content and
function (26). By expressing similar ideas in the same or similar form, readers are able to better
understand how the ideas relate to each other

Dangers Of Boosting
Introduction: this issue analysis is examining the use of boosting in spinal injury Paralympians and
how this is thought to be dangerous to the individual that uses this as a technique of gaining an
advantage over other players.
Biological background: Boosting is a technique paraplegic athletes use to increase their blood pressure
to a normal rate to enhance their performance skills as paraplegic athletes are unable to alter their
blood pressure with exercises (Blauwet, 2016).
Boosting in the Paralympics has been banned since 1994, prior to events doctors are required to check
athletes blood pressure and any athlete discovered to have a systolic blood pressure higher than
160MMHG (A millimetre of mercury) are given ten minutes to lower blood ... Show more content on

Boosting is a risk as consciously forcing your blood pressure to rapidly rise can result in blood vessels
bursting or cause a stroke. The athletes that partake in this are risking their safety for the sake of
breaking world records and winning.
Despite being conscious of the dangers of their health, 16.75 of the participants in this study indicated
they had resorted to boosting either in training or in competition. 2008 2008 World Anti Doping
Agency statistics (Self mutilation and exaggeration a problem for Paralympics, 2016) boosting affects
a small number of athletes but is a significant issue in the sport as it provided these athletes with an
upper edge to the other athletes competing in the event.
Conclusion: In conclusion the long term effects of boosting is not worth the short term success in
events, there are future side effects that boosting can cause such as heart problems and in particular
pulmonary edema which causes the blood from veins to back up and fill the lungs with liquid and gas.
The 2012 crack down on the blood pressure is stopping athletes attempting this form of cheating.

Client Centered Therapy And Rogerian Psychotherapy
Introduction
Person center therapy has many names such as client centered therapy, person centered counseling and
Rogerian psychotherapy. The theory I chose to write about is called person centered theory. In this
paper I will talk about the strength and weakness of this type of therapy. How is it used in today s
society and how it was used in the past. I will also talk about the developer of Person center therapy.
Carol Roger
Carol Roger, the father of the humanistic movement in psychotherapy. The theme in this therapy is a
nonjudgmental listening and acceptance of the client, the scientific term would be unconditional
positive regard. Roger was born on January 8th 1902 in Oak Park Illinois. He grew up in a very strict
and religious family. As a young boy Carl Rogers was shy and very studious. He first attended
University of Wisconsin as an agricultural science major. Later on ended up transferring to Union
Theological Seminary in Chicago. In 1942 Rogers became one of the first therapist to record
transcribe therapy sessions precise, a practice that is now commonly done. Rogers s client centered
therapy is among the most prominent and widely used techniques in today s society. In 1987 Rogers
was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because of his humanistic causes. (McLeod, 2015)

Complexity In Sitcoms
Historically, sitcom has been used to display an aspiration lifestyle, as stipulated by dominant norms
(Brown 1990:18). However, UKS creates narrative complexity by depicting multiple social issues and
conflict, which are brought together by the protagonists friendships. This includes landlady Lilian s
struggles to resist gentrification in season three, Titus continual search for employment, and all the
characters ongoing negotiation of romantic relationships. The humour derived from these overly
familiar topics offers critique on the complexity of contemporary tensions in a society of employment
instability, fast change, and insecure transient neighbourhoods under capitalism (Wickham 2013:33).
The depiction in UKS of friendship reflects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the ongoing joke that the New York basement flat Kimmy and Titus Andromedon share
is actually a Tugboat. The humour created by this is simultaneously simplistic and complex. The
repetition of this joke through all three series of UKS can be used to argue that sitcom is simplistic
because the issue never develops. However, the humour relates to real life issues of housing and rent
in desirable locations under advanced capitalism. Furthermore the humour is derived from landlady
Lilian Kaushtupper s criminal past, demonstrating how the dramatic and comedic outcome within any
sitcom must be the inevitable outcome of those characters within that scenario at that particular time,
as well as being understood by viewers as relating to society beyond the sitcom. Consequently, this
joke simplifies a complex issues without explanation. Yet it is also complex because the humour
functions through multiple levels. Therefore, indicating a complexity derived from the social and
cultural context of the programme. Furthermore, UKS may date and this joke may no longer be
deemed funny in ten or twenty years. This demonstrates how sitcom complexity relates to the
concerns of society at the time the specific programme is created (Morreale 2003:

Family In Huck Finn
Huck Finn s personal definition of family changes throughout the book as he encounters relationships
with the other characters. Growing up, Huck did not have a normal home life. His dad was a drunk,
his mother was dead, and he was the bad kid in the neighborhood that the other parents resented.
Throughout the story, Huck spent time with a number of different families ; some related by blood and
others just a group of random individuals who lived and interacted in proximity of each other. Each of
these had something different to offer and to each belonged a different backstory. The Widow Douglas
and Miss Watson, Pap, and Jim were examples of the different types of family units that Huck
belonged to throughout the story.

INTRODUCTION
In today s economy, firms are no longer the center of business. In order to survive, companies need to
acknowledge the fact that business now revolves around customers
(Keith, 1960). As a result, marketing becomes one of the most prominent philosophies in business.
Therefore, to get a better understanding of today s business, this essay will be discussing about three
important concepts. These concepts are marketing as a business philosophy, the understanding of
customer value, followed by the link between marketing and customer value. In addition, this essay

CUSTOMER VALUE
Zeithaml (1988, as cited in Smith Colgate, 2007, p. 8) defined customer value as being what
customers get from the purchase and use of a product versus what they pay. According to Drucker
(1999), customer value determines what the business will produce and whether it will prosper or not.
Clearly, customers will prefer to consume the product that offers them most benefits with least costs
possible.
Based on their researches, Smith and Colgate (2007) proposed four major values of customer that
applicable to consumer and to customer value creation strategy.
According to Smith and Colgate (2007), functional value is concerned about the purpose and
usefulness of a product. Experiential value is concerned with the customers feelings created by the
product whereas symbolic value is concerned about the psychological meaning of a product to
customers. On the other hand, cost is related to the both direct and indirect costs of using the product.
The following table shows customer value creation strategy with Village Gold Class
Cinema as the example.

Free Will In Euripide s Phaedra
When Phaedra and the man do try to resolve their problems, they each put their fates yet again into the
hands of others rather than take control of their situations, revealing how when outside forces threaten
the autonomy of a person that one cannot simply expect others to fix the problems on one s behalf.
Phaedra s initial entrance in the play begins with her commanding her nurses to take this veil, a
symbol of modesty, from [her] head (Euripides 223), reflecting Phaedra s inability to take control of
her life. Even in a mad state in which she loses her inhibitions and is willing to shed her humility, she
cannot do so herself but rather depends on others to do it for her. This further reveals how Phaedra has
lost control of her situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phaedra dies in a very similar fashion. Although Phaedra takes her own life and writes a letter framing
Hippolytus for rape, she still puts her reputation at the mercy of both Hippolytus and the nurses
because her fate depends on their ability to uphold their vows of silence. With her reputation in the
hands of others, Phaedra mimics the man as she yet again puts herself at the mercy of outside forces
instead of seizing control and attacking her problem head on. Some may contend that the suicide
reflects her attempts of regaining autonomy but the suicide doesn t truly solve the problem, it only
ends it. The same could be said for the man dying of old age as he waits for entrance to the Law. The
man s problem is that he can t enter the gate but when he s dead that problem disappears but he hasn t
achieved his goal of reaching the Law. While Phaedra s suicide brings an end to her suffering, it does
not address the reasons she s been forced to love Hippolytus. In both these examples, the characters
end up dying because they not only failed to actually address their problems but also because they
relied too much on other people to alleviate their

What My Hard Work Has Shown Me
The beat of my heart thumps harder by the second as my high school volleyball coach announces at
the 2016 end of the year banquet, that their is one Honorable Mention and one All Conference award
within the Wright County. After playing volleyball for eight years as a setter, assisting 1,134 kills
(with my two and a half years on varsity), and receiving Heart Beat of the Team Award, mentally and
physically I knew there might be a chance I had a shot at getting one of the two awards. However my
hardworking, and valuable teammates are just as talented.
Captain, starting libero, and MVP Skyler Wallisch can get low and pick up anything. She s my right
hand as a setter, I can rely on her to get the first pass up to me. She is a very important player and has
different colored jersey to signify her position as a libero on the court. Also Co Captain Ashley
Fuhrmann has a good chance at getting one of the awards. She can jump really high for her height, and
swing fast. Many of my assists came from her. The Honorable Mention Award is given to a player
whose name was brought up, and signified as a valuable athlete in a meeting held with all the Wright
County volleyball coaches. The All Conference Award is handed out to six players out of the entire
Wright County Volleyball District (East and West, consisting of fourteen teams) whom the volleyball
coaches believe would make the best team in the Wright County.

Course Objectives: Valuation will be discussed as a unifying theme in this course. This includes such
issues as how to value a firm that is not publicly traded, how to value a potential merger, how to value
an investment project. We will examine the use of debt in a firm s financial structure and ask if that
has an impact on the value of the firm. If a firm pays dividends, does that increase the firm s value?
The key objective of this course is to build on the foundation of your introductory course in financial
concepts and to apply more advanced concepts in corporate finance in a decision making context.
Since computer literacy is essential to the application of finance theory, the course will incorporate a
number of opportunities for the use of computer tools in a problem solving environment.
After you have successfully completed this course, you will be able to:
Apply value based management to guide valuation of a firm and valuation of a capital budget project.
Be aware of the underlying factors that impact the value of a financial option.
Understand the basic features of options contracts and how they are priced.
Have an understanding of the use and misuse of derivatives.
Understand how the firm s mixture of debt and equity, the capital structure, can impact the value of

Flexible Staffing In Nursing
Even though RNAO and other agencies support flexible staffing and even mentioned self scheduling
in their best practice guideline, there is no framework for agencies to implement it in their respective
hospitals. In a trial conducted by Griesmer (1993), nurses are required to work for 160 hours in 4
weeks and can skip 16 hours of work per scheduling period. Griersmer also incorporated some of their
old rules into the framework such as each nurse is to work 2 weeks of day shift and night shift
respectively, work in the weekends every 3 weeks and at least 1 Friday evening. In the instance of
over staffing, the staff can work among themselves to trade off a shift, take a day off or make up for it
on another week. griesmer also introduced Monitor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initiating change can be quite difficult especially when majority of the staff are satisfied with the
status quo. Verbalizing a compelling vision can increase the urgency for change, asking for feedback
and responding to their concerns and helping each staff transition through every phase of the change
can solve the reluctance of the staff to change to self scheduling. Communication breakdown can
negatively impact the staff s willingness to participate in th change process. The staff s productivity
and engagement in the change can be improve by maintaining an open communication that updates
the stake holders with timely and accurate information. Nurses abusing the system is common across
any scheduling framework as some staff put their personal wants before the unit s needs and
accumulate a lot of unworked hours without making up for it. Involving the staff in the initiative
reduces this problem. Griesmer solved the problem by allowing each nurse to be the monitor of the
month. The role is first given to the nurses who abused the system so they can understand the amount
of effort the shift managers had to put in to create a schedule that accounts for everyone s needs. .
Eventually, the role becomes available to everyone and every nurse is required to be a MOM at least

A Man s Search For Meaning Narrative Analysis
In a Man s Search for Meaning narrative written by, Viktor, Frankl is a Must Read book! He honestly
describes and explain his various experiences in the concentration camp, not only is he being
descriptive but he also gives an official man experience from what he has been apart of and what was
seen. This narrative allows you to better understand what was being done to these individuals from a
psychological standpoint, meaning our mental. Imagine yourself, being tormented, tortured, verbally
and physically abused, but still must hold yourself upright just to avoid the abuse; there s no way
around it. These individuals, were abused day and night; even if they were a half of inch out of place.
Frankl, begins with a question that states, But does a man who makes his observations while he
himself is a prisoner possess the necessary detachment? Such detachment is granted to the outsider,
but he is too far removed to make any statements of real value. This stood out to me, being that I am
of a female gender; I could reverse the roles to better understand the question he posed. It is difficult
to observe oneself when you are a prisoner, not just physically but mentally. The mental is what
enables us as humans to process information but also perform daily tasks. Frankl, talks about a
condition known as, delusion of reprieve meaning that our mental tends to make us believe that there
is a way out or around the situation or maybe a consequence that will deter punishment from our
actions, but in actuality there isn t. The prisoners suffered though these illusions, quite often because
they never know when an officer may abuse them or possibly be taken to the crematorium. Frankl,
also poses another question once him and the others are forced to strip of their clothing asking; What
else remained for us as a material link with our former lives? At this point, the prisoners are now
equals. Everybody wears the same clothes, look the same and talk the same. How can one that was a
well paid doctor to now being held captive at a concentration camp? In this day in age, it wouldn t
happen. The technologies that have been developed and overall evolution, it s not possible to conduct
that type of activity anymore. Society is

European Influence On American Animals In 1491

and cows, so they could drink milk and make butter. In contrast, on American continent, natives were
only growing corn, and in South America only potato was growing at that time. In America only lamas
were present who could not pull a plow nor give milk. In North America Ice age and hunting put
animals at levels of extinction.
In Europe, hunting animals was just for sport and prestige. Fish were abundant and were eaten by all

  • 2. Alleles Lab Report The Effect of Regularity of Environmental Disasters on Allele Frequencies in a Moth Population The purpose of this experiment was to determine how changing environmental factors would affect the allele frequencies in a population of white, brown, and black moths. More specifically, the aim was to see if final allele frequencies would coincide with the Hardy Weinberg theory of evolution, or if genetic drift, amplified by environmental disasters, would play a significant role in the outcome of the experiment. The results of the experiment were analyzed using a Chi squared test. Expected results were calculated for a hypothetical situation where the population of moths corresponded with the Hardy Weinberg theory, and these expected results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (4) When a population changes (either increases or decreases) for seemingly no reason, genetic drift is most often to blame. (1) Frequencies of alleles available in the gene pool for that population are subject to change when evolution takes place, and one or more alleles can sometimes vanish. Populations with fewer organisms often experience more substantial genetic drift, due to the fact that if there is less of an allele in a gene pool during a generation, there is a higher risk that a large amount of that allele will be removed just due to random chance genetic drift. (4) It is important to note that the final population during the frequent disasters trial became 243 from an original 4000 when one of the alleles ( a ) was lost. This is considered a population bottleneck (4) where the population decreased by a significant amount. In a situation like this, there are fewer alleles available in the gene pool of that population for that generation, so there is a bigger chance that genetic drift will accidently cause the loss of a substantial portion of one of the alleles, driving it to discontinuation. ... In it, it details the purposes and principles of the United Nations thus allowing me to have a better understanding of why the United nations was created. It was created for the purpose of maintaining international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace. Overall, the organization is meant to maintain peaceful relations and create peaceful resolutions to conflicts. • 4. Karl Marx s View Of Communism Karl Marx went to three universities before graduating and receiving his degree. He is a German scholar who disliked Russia his whole life. Communism or Marxism is the belief that everything is owned by everyone, not one individual. Karl Marx first thought of the idea of communism in 1848 when he created the Communist Manifesto. He came up with the idea of communism as a result of the failing capitalist system. Karl Marx has influenced many countries today with his writings and beliefs of communism. The life of Karl Marx had its ups and downs. He was born on May 5, 1818 in Trier, Rhine Province, Prussia. He was the oldest of 9 children. His father was a lawyer and the Man of the Enlightenment. Both Karl Marx s parents had a Jewish background. As Karl got older he also got more reckless. He did not manage money well and was occasionally broke. When Karl went to college, he went to the University of Bonn(3). It was a rebellious school. He later was imprisoned for drunkenness and disturbing the peace and for other reasons(3). • 5. Gold Digger Song Analysis In the year of 2005, Kanye West released his second album of that year, Late Registration, containing one of his biggest hits. The song Gold Digger is about how rich men must always be on guard of women who will manipulate and lie their way into a man s life explicitly for money and possibly fame. Gold Digger, being one of his most popular songs, peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song received 13 nominations for awards and won 4 different awards, one being a Grammy for best solo rap performance. By the year 2011, Kanye West s hit single had sold over 3 million copies in the United States. Since then, Gold Digger has been recreated, rewritten, and covered by numerous artists, groups and bands; one of which is Twin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Twin Caverns remade Kanye s hit song in a way that points out how the song can become nearly any type of genre that an artist would want it to be; whether it be rap, soft rock, pop or country music. The original song, however, is meant to be more upbeat and in a rap melody in order for it to attain the best results possible. Twin Caverns were not able to fit the entire original song into their version because of the tempo they set forth. If they had done so the song would be a seven minute song where people would not take the time to listen to the song. This, however, hurt the song tremendously because a lot of what was left out was important to the original story Kanye produced in his song. What made the song so successful was that Twin Caverns delivered an alternative song from the original raunchy rap song to a soothing song that can calm a person. It is also successful because the song is nearly unrecognizable from the original. The reworking that was done to the song, in a way, slows down the world around the listener and makes them take a step back and relax. These songs together show just how much potential Kanye s hit song has and it has been shown through many other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summer vacation is here! Right? A break from the tests, homework, and hard work is finally deserved, right? Maybe not. The subject of year round school at Forest Park has been talked about for quite some time now. There are those who are opposed to the idea and some in favor. Staff has concerned themselves with throwing their opinions into the mix, but has any of them stopped and thought about what the students think? It is my belief that exploration of traditional belief systems and ritualistic practices will lead to a greater understanding of the Maori culture in present day New Zealand. The objective of the paper is to illustrate the Maoris unique perception and spiritual connection with their natural environment. Brief Maori History The Maori, Children of Heaven , are the indigenous people of New Zealand. The traditional legend begins with Rangi (the sky father) and Papa (the earth mother) uniting to give birth to numerous offspring: gods of the sea, forest, wind, wild food, planted food, and mankind.5 Once born, the children constantly quarreled with one another in the darkness and finally decided to separate their parents to create light. The god of the wind, opposed to the idea, fled to the sky where his anger manifested into thunder and lightening. Disregarding his brother s opinion, the god of the forest successfully separated his parents loving embrace. The disconnection enabled life to flourish and thrive throughout the land. Unfortunately, Rangi and Papa were forever separated. Rangi s constant flow of tears filled the oceans and lakes. To this day, many Maori believe that Rangi and Papa s infinite sorrow is responsible for the dew, mist and rain.5 Maori religion is largely based on the ancient legend of Rangi and Papa. The religion promotes a deep connection and respect for nature. It is their belief that all life possesses mauri (life force), wairau (spirit), and mana (power, influence, and charisma).3 This universal life force is traditionally celebrated, passed down, and remembered ... It focuses on five elements that attract, motivate, and retain the talent to achieve business goals. These elements are: Compensation, Benefits, Work Life, Performance and Recognition and Development and Career Opportunities (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 4). This paper describes the five advantages of a total rewards approach, five ways a total rewards strategy can go astray, six steps involved in the design of a total rewards program and eight steps involved in the communication process of a total reward program (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 15 64). Once the strategy has been identified, developing an effective rewards strategy requires determining the purpose and scope of the program, eligibility of individuals in specifics aspects of the program, a baseline for measurement and goals, funding for the program, selection and structure of the plan and the timeline for implementation (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 35). After plan development, the action begins implementation. This involves obtaining management approval, forming an implementation team and conducting pilot test of the plan, before communicating to the entire organization (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 39 40). Once the plan is implemented, communication begins by educating employees on the plan and showing how it links to the overall business strategy. This step helps set the plan expectations and aids in the employee understanding of a total rewards package. The information allows employees to make better career choices and confirms the organization s commitment, which builds trust and loyalty (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 40). Here s the catch he started discovering them at just 23 years old! Isaac Newton s scientific work throughout the 17th century impacted the modern world with a turning point in history that would change the way we deal with modern science and mathematics. Isaac Newton is often referred to as the father of science, an honorary name. Newton s work has greatly impacted not only the ways we study and use science, but our everyday lives as well. For example, Newton also discovered the laws of motion (force, inertia, reaction), gravity, and light s components. His work was studied using experiments that questioned the natural world and tested hypotheses. His system of calculus showed extreme thinking and high intelligence. Newton s life and work is one of the most predominant turning points of the Scientific Revolution and the mathematical pursuit of knowledge, including his laws of physics, experimentation that can be repeated, predicted, and verified today, and the anticipation, development, and rigorization of calculus. The new knowledge presented and demonstrated by Isaac Newton in the 17th century includes motion (force, inertia, reaction), universal gravity, and even the principles of how light works, all key elements of physics. A Raisin In The Sun Fate Vs Free Will Essay In the texts, A Raisin in the Sun and Antigone, written by Lorraine Hansberry and Sophocles, respectively, the lens of Fate vs. Free Will is exposed within the situations and dialogues in these plays. However, to analyze these plays with this lens perspective, one must first recognize what this lens pertains to. The lens of Fate vs. Free Will pertains to the perspective of analyzing events in a story and deciding whether they occur due to a predetermined destiny, or rather, a choice made by a character s own decision or free will. Some may argue, that no matter what, events happen only out of one of these choices. Now in some opinions, that may hold some validity. However, this can be proved otherwise. In A Raisin in the Sun, the Younger family, a lower class black family in Chicago, awaits an insurance check, sent in commemoration of the late father of Walter and Beneatha Younger, and the husband of Lena Younger. • 15. The Concept Of Sin In Dante Alighieri s Inferno Dante Alighieri s Inferno is the first of three books in The Divine Comedy. A comedy in Dante s time didn t mean what it means today: a comedy was a piece of literature that moved from dark to light or from damnation to salvation in the eyes of God. In The Inferno, Dante delves into darkness and damnation, and his view of the nature of Hell. Dante was a devout Catholic, so most of his inspiration for The Inferno came from the Bible. In Dante s version of Hell, there are nine circles that reach to the center of the Earth: Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Avarice and Prodigality, Wrath and Sullenness, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery. Those who commit the least severe sins are put near the top, as in Limbo, and the worst sins at the bottom come with the worst punishments. Dante, the character in the book, is escorted by the poet Virgil to literally explore Dante s descent into sin. To better understand the book s concept of sin, the reader should compare the least sinful part of Hell, Limbo, to the most sinful part of Hell, the ninth circle where Satan is kept. The poem begins with Dante waking up in a forest. Dante tries to climb the mountain and sees three beasts: a leopard, a lion, and a wolf. Later, Dante meets Virgil, a Roman poet Dante is fond of, to help him climb the mountain. Virgil says they have to go through Hell first before reaching Heaven, where Beatrice, a woman Dante loved in real life, will be waiting for him. Eventually, Dante and Virgil get to the first ... • 27. Family In Huck Finn Huck Finn s personal definition of family changes throughout the book as he encounters relationships with the other characters. Growing up, Huck did not have a normal home life. His dad was a drunk, his mother was dead, and he was the bad kid in the neighborhood that the other parents resented. Throughout the story, Huck spent time with a number of different families ; some related by blood and others just a group of random individuals who lived and interacted in proximity of each other. Each of these had something different to offer and to each belonged a different backstory. The Widow Douglas and Miss Watson, Pap, and Jim were examples of the different types of family units that Huck belonged to throughout the story. Huck s first ... There warn t no color in his face, where his face showed; it was white; not like another man s white, but a white to make a body sick, a white to make a body s flesh crawl (Page 27). This quote leads to believe that Pap is not a fitting father figure for Huck, and proves this in chapter six of Huckleberry Finn. While under Pap s care, Huck fell back into his old ways of smoking, fishing, and not going to school. He took up cussing again, which he had stopped doing because the widow didn t allow it (Page 34). As the pioneer of this concept, Village Cinema has successfully embraced the marketing philosophy where business should focus on the customer and to provide what they want. 2 CUSTOMER VALUE Zeithaml (1988, as cited in Smith Colgate, 2007, p. 8) defined customer value as being what customers get from the purchase and use of a product versus what they pay. According to Drucker (1999), customer value determines what the business will produce and whether it will prosper or not. Clearly, customers will prefer to consume the product that offers them most benefits with least costs possible. Free Will In Euripide s Phaedra When Phaedra and the man do try to resolve their problems, they each put their fates yet again into the hands of others rather than take control of their situations, revealing how when outside forces threaten the autonomy of a person that one cannot simply expect others to fix the problems on one s behalf. Phaedra s initial entrance in the play begins with her commanding her nurses to take this veil, a symbol of modesty, from [her] head (Euripides 223), reflecting Phaedra s inability to take control of her life. Even in a mad state in which she loses her inhibitions and is willing to shed her humility, she cannot do so herself but rather depends on others to do it for her. This further reveals how Phaedra has lost control of her situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Phaedra dies in a very similar fashion. Although Phaedra takes her own life and writes a letter framing Hippolytus for rape, she still puts her reputation at the mercy of both Hippolytus and the nurses because her fate depends on their ability to uphold their vows of silence. With her reputation in the hands of others, Phaedra mimics the man as she yet again puts herself at the mercy of outside forces instead of seizing control and attacking her problem head on. Some may contend that the suicide reflects her attempts of regaining autonomy but the suicide doesn t truly solve the problem, it only ends it. The same could be said for the man dying of old age as he waits for entrance to the Law. The man s problem is that he can t enter the gate but when he s dead that problem disappears but he hasn t achieved his goal of reaching the Law. While Phaedra s suicide brings an end to her suffering, it does not address the reasons she s been forced to love Hippolytus. In both these examples, the characters end up dying because they not only failed to actually address their problems but also because they relied too much on other people to alleviate their ... After playing volleyball for eight years as a setter, assisting 1,134 kills (with my two and a half years on varsity), and receiving Heart Beat of the Team Award, mentally and physically I knew there might be a chance I had a shot at getting one of the two awards. However my hardworking, and valuable teammates are just as talented. Captain, starting libero, and MVP Skyler Wallisch can get low and pick up anything. She s my right hand as a setter, I can rely on her to get the first pass up to me. She is a very important player and has different colored jersey to signify her position as a libero on the court. Also Co Captain Ashley Fuhrmann has a good chance at getting one of the awards. She can jump really high for her height, and swing fast. Many of my assists came from her. The Honorable Mention Award is given to a player whose name was brought up, and signified as a valuable athlete in a meeting held with all the Wright County volleyball coaches. Flexible Staffing In Nursing Even though RNAO and other agencies support flexible staffing and even mentioned self scheduling in their best practice guideline, there is no framework for agencies to implement it in their respective hospitals. In a trial conducted by Griesmer (1993), nurses are required to work for 160 hours in 4 weeks and can skip 16 hours of work per scheduling period. Griersmer also incorporated some of their old rules into the framework such as each nurse is to work 2 weeks of day shift and night shift respectively, work in the weekends every 3 weeks and at least 1 Friday evening. In the instance of over staffing, the staff can work among themselves to trade off a shift, take a day off or make up for it on another week. griesmer also introduced Monitor ... Verbalizing a compelling vision can increase the urgency for change, asking for feedback and responding to their concerns and helping each staff transition through every phase of the change can solve the reluctance of the staff to change to self scheduling. Communication breakdown can negatively impact the staff s willingness to participate in th change process. The staff s productivity and engagement in the change can be improve by maintaining an open communication that updates the stake holders with timely and accurate information. Nurses abusing the system is common across any scheduling framework as some staff put their personal wants before the unit s needs and accumulate a lot of unworked hours without making up for it. Involving the staff in the initiative reduces this problem. Griesmer solved the problem by allowing each nurse to be the monitor of the month. The role is first given to the nurses who abused the system so they can understand the amount of effort the shift managers had to put in to create a schedule that accounts for everyone s needs. . • 37. A Man s Search For Meaning Narrative Analysis In a Man s Search for Meaning narrative written by, Viktor, Frankl is a Must Read book! He honestly describes and explain his various experiences in the concentration camp, not only is he being descriptive but he also gives an official man experience from what he has been apart of and what was seen. This narrative allows you to better understand what was being done to these individuals from a psychological standpoint, meaning our mental. Imagine yourself, being tormented, tortured, verbally and physically abused, but still must hold yourself upright just to avoid the abuse; there s no way around it. These individuals, were abused day and night; even if they were a half of inch out of place. Frankl, begins with a question that states, But does a man who makes his observations while he himself is a prisoner possess the necessary detachment? Such detachment is granted to the outsider, but he is too far removed to make any statements of real value. This stood out to me, being that I am of a female gender; I could reverse the roles to better understand the question he posed. It is difficult to observe oneself when you are a prisoner, not just physically but mentally. The mental is what enables us as humans to process information but also perform daily tasks. Frankl, talks about a condition known as, delusion of reprieve meaning that our mental tends to make us believe that there is a way out or around the situation or maybe a consequence that will deter punishment from our actions, but in actuality there isn t. The prisoners suffered though these illusions, quite often because they never know when an officer may abuse them or possibly be taken to the crematorium. Frankl, also poses another question once him and the others are forced to strip of their clothing asking; What else remained for us as a material link with our former lives? At this point, the prisoners are now equals. Everybody wears the same clothes, look the same and talk the same. How can one that was a well paid doctor to now being held captive at a concentration camp? In this day in age, it wouldn t happen. The technologies that have been developed and overall evolution, it s not possible to conduct that type of activity anymore. Society is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
