What Are The Main Learning Theories
The purpose of this essay is to show an understanding of the main learning theories. This assessment
will allow the chance to begin applying these theories in a classroom setting by using an essay that
analyses teaching practice within classroom. By looking further into the statement Effective
teachers need a range of strategies to ensure that students learn . Crucially using personal beliefs
about learningas well as teaching to reflect on these beliefs as well as considering their influence of
developmental factors within the classroom.
Learning as a whole can be quite different, ranging from memorisation of classroom information,
all the way to being able to connect idea s together, perform complex activities. As well as
interacting with others. While it is important to know that learning is important to the core of the
system, it can be very hard to come up with a simple clear cut understanding of what learning is.
Learning can include a variety of procedures. It can look at meaning different things to
individuals, and can be viewed differently by students, teachers as well as at times by cultures.
Whilst this can make it hard to come up with an understanding of what learning is factors that may
be used to assist this include, a change in any individual s knowledge, the ability to perform set
skills, as well as the ability to participate in an activity with other individuals.

Current Outbreak Of The Ebola Virus
.
What is Ebola? Ebola, also called Hemorrhagic Fever is a rare deadly disease caused by infection
with a strain of ebola virus. This organism causes fever, headache, coughing blood, vomiting
blood, severe bleeding, organ failure, and leads to death. It is spread through body fluids and blood
of someone who is showing ebola symptoms. Ebola can also be spread by hazardous products
(unclean needles or unscreened blood), skin to skin contact, exchanging saliva (kissing, sharing
drinks or food), and making contact with a contaminated surface (doorknob, tissue, etc.).
The most current outbreak of Ebola is in West Africawhich was discovered in March of 2014 and
is considered one of the biggest Ebola outbreaks since Ebola was discovered in 1976. The
countries affected the most by this virus are Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. These countries
do not have a stable economy which means they cannot afford the tools and technology to study
the virus. In 2014 there were 9,936 Ebola victims but only 4,877 died that year. The virus has an
extremely high risk of death. It kills between 25 and 90 percent of those infected by Ebola.

Stokely Carmichael Black Power
What is Black Power? Black power is a movement lead by Stokely Carmichael which promoted
the idea of black empowerment and creating a community where blacks feel comfortable in. It
implies self determination and self motivation. This means blacks should not rely on white
authority to fix racial issues but rather take matters into their own hands. It is a call for blacks to
define their own goals. This was not only meant as freedom from white authority but also as
economical and political independence. In this way Black Power was taking control of the
future of blacks in both economical and political ways and establishing a community in which
they will not have to suffer living as second class citizens. Black power also encouraged blacks to
have pride in their racial heritage and be proud to be black. A way of promoting this was by
using the slogan Black is Beautiful , to get people to see the beauty of being black and not to be
ashamed of their prominent black features. Stokely Carmichael encouraged this form of Black
Pride by saying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because he knew that from the violent connotations of Black Power there would be a
major loss of support from the Federal Government. This support was essential as being a liberal,
he needed their backing in order to successfully combat racial laws. Also the Federal Government
had brought down many decisions in favour of the Civil Rights Movement so to threaten them in
this way, was in his opinion, unwise. King was also aware that white liberals would lose
sympathy towards the Civil Rights Movement due to the violent, overpowering connotations Black
Power portrayed. King was sure the emergence of Black Power could alienate the white support
which he believed was needed. This made him fearful of how Black Power would affect future
direction of the Civil Rights Movement and made him not at ease with the

Snickers Vs Twix Research Paper
Throughout many years there has been a debate between whether Snickers or Twix is the best
candy bar overall. When discussed, people have disputed on whether the flavors in the candy bars
are tastier, which candy bar is healthier, and which has more appeal in advertising.Even though
Snickers and Twix bars are made by the same company (Mars) they are very different. Snickersfans
might say that Snickers bars are the best because they have peanuts in the bar, this might be true for
the majority people, but not those with allergies. This evidence proves that Twix is the best candy
bar.
One of the reasons that people think that Twix is the best candy bar is its overall appeal.
Furthermore, the wafer adds to the overall appeal. Compared to Snickers which has a chewy
nougat, Twix s wafer is crunchy and thick. One satisfied customer said All time favorite chocolate,

The Twix wrapper is gold and shiny. This will catch people s eyes and draw them to Twix. Like
one customer, out of many Twix customers, who said, First off, the packaging is great, eye

represents the caramel in the candy bar. A good selling strategy to have two bars, so that the
customer feels like they are getting more. Having two candy bars helps the customer feel like
they are getting more in one package. It also helps with the advertisement. The ads also help sell
the product, with the competition between left and right Twix. The ad features two factories, left
and right, and each factory thinks the other one copied their candy bar. This is entertaining
because they make the same thing with the same ingredients. Now when you buy a package of the
fun size Twix the bars are packaged saying whether it is left or right, and the customer can decide
which one they like

The Debate Of Public Livestock Grazing
Western United States was unsettled by Americans in early the years. After the Civil War, known
as the era of homesteading, was designed by the government to promote the settlement of the
western states. Because there was a lack of understanding of the arid ecosystems and the increase
of westward settlement, western public rangelands were overgrazed. This in turn caused
unintended damage to soil, plants, streams, and springs. In 1934 the Taylor Grazing Act was
passed by Congress to create grazing districts that were portioned and regulated. In the 1960s and
the 1970s public appreciation for public lands increased. This advertently caused the Bureau of
Land Management(BLM) to modify land grazing permits so that endangered species, sensitive
plants, and cultural or historical objects can be preserved. (A Brief History of Public Lands
Grazing, Bureau of Land Management)
Still today the debate of public livestock grazing continues. There is much tension between farmers,
wildlife and environmental activists, the government, and the Bureau of Land Management.
Farmers say public livestock grazing production is economically beneficial. Wildlife and
environmental activist argue that this grazing harms the wildlife and their ecosystems. The
government sees other ways to use the land that would increase economic benefits. BLM is trying
their best to make sure everyone is happy. I should be allowed to research the controversy that
surrounds livestock grazing on public lands because:

Tzedakah Research Paper
For Jews, Tzedakah is a vital part of our day to day lives. The word Tzedakah comes from the
Hebrew word tzedek, which means justice or fairness. While Tzedakah is very closely related to
charity it is not the same thing. Charity is associated with generosity and compassion, and viewed
as something the wealthy or powerful would do. However, in JudaismTzedakah is simply what is
just and is the expectation. According to Maimonides, there are different levels of Tzedakah the
lowest being giving begrudgingly and the highest being not only lending someone money or
donating, but helping them by getting them a job or giving them resources. The idea of it is

Mysteries Of The Mind Analysis
After conducting a close reading of Victor Davis Hanson s article, Monasteries of the Mind, I came
to the consensus that he provided many plausible and thought provoking arguments regarding the
political climate in the United States right now. He asserts in the article that in recent months there
has been a double standard from what was accepted and praised during the Obama administration
and and what is looked down upon in the Trump administration. In fact, Hanson accentuated that,
There is now something called the Resistance, which by its nomenclature poses that its opposition
to Trump is reminiscent of European partisan resistance to Hitler [1]. I find this accusation to be a
bit extreme, because while many of his policies anger and offend... Show more content on

Civilization continues to be indolent and naive and real change will never come about, because
people are too stubborn to ever change their ways and believe that their problems can be solved
with someone else s help. However, this help will never come, because of the never ending cycle
of laziness that embodies many Americans. Speaking of American s indolence, I was taken aback
by Hanson s assertion of sports and media with the general public, Instead, they have checked out
mentally from American popular entertainment, sports, and the progressive cultural project in
general [1]. This was shocking because I would think that more and more people are getting sucked
into this dry form of entertainment, because of their intruding laziness. Yes, there are certainly
people who are beginning to realize there are changes to be made to the country, however, I think
that the majority of citizens are still blind to the truth. Furthermore, I strongly disagree with Hanson
s statement associated and directed towards Colin Kaepernick who back in August of 2016 refused

However, in 1950, the Services returned to using a single test, the Armed Forces Qualification
Test (AFQT). This test was developed and modeled after the AGCT, and was the first test used
in the military as a screening instrument. It measured the individual s general ability to grasp
military training within in the necessary allotted time, and it also offered a uniform measure of
the individual s potential performance in the military. Also, tests like The Army Classification
Battery and the Navy Basic Test Battery were used to classify recruits into service specific jobs.
In 1968, the ASVAB was introduced as a part of the Student Testing Program. The Air Force was
the first to use the ASVAB in 1973, followed by the Marine Corps in 1974. However, the Army
and Navy did not adopt the ASVAB until 1976, after the Department of Defense decided that all
Services should use it for the purpose of screening enlistees and placing them in military jobs. The
AFQT has been mostly retained and is now a subtest of the ASVAB. Since the introduction and
adoption of the ASVAB, it has undergone many changes as far as content and scoring.
Scoring for the ASVAB uses the IRT model. The model underlying the ASVAB scoring is a three

Allegory In The Giver
Allegorical messages appear often in the giver because they are broad with different meanings. The
Giver is a book about a controlled community. This community is based upon sameness which
means everything is the same. They have many rules and things like climate control to maintain the
sameness. There are no individual birthdays either; at the end of the year all the babies born that
year turn one whether they were born the week before or 5 months before, this also helps maintain
sameness. When children turn twelve, at The Ceremony of Twelve, they get their assignments and
this will be their jobs from then until they became an elder. There is one person of the community
who holds all the memory about the past and this person is The Receiver. The protagonist, Jonas,
becomes The Receiver at his ceremony of twelve. Allegorical derives from the word allegory.
Allegory means a story in which the characters and events are symbols that stand for ideas about
human life or for a political or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This book is filled with life lessons, motifs and allegories. It is also about importance of memory,
right and wrong, love, and determination. Since The Receiver is the only one who knows things
from the past The Elders often seek advice from him. If everybody had memory then everybody
would experience pain; if nobody had memory of the past then they would have no one to tell
them what the outcome would be, therefore everyone would continue to repeat their mistakes.
Jonas knew that it was wrong to leave the community but he also felt it wasn t right to stay there
and felt as though it was only right for the others to have memory as well. Jonas took Gabriel
with him on his journey because he loved Gabe and he didn t want him to be released. Jonas was

The Link Between Science And Crime
The link between science and crime was originated days back in 1840 s in Europe and when
Spanish physician Soler made reference to the concept of the born criminal.
No one in the history of criminology has a reputation like Cesare Lombroso.
Darwin s hypothesis of development, with its startling decisions and cautious arrangement
frameworks, in view of point by point physical portrayals of many finch mouths and ocean turtle
carapaces, is a prime sample of this new science. Taking up from where Darwin left, Cesare
Lombroso s deliberate investigation of criminal physiognomy tried to support society by
recognizing crooks. Lombroso particularly inspired by the thought of Charles Darwin that some
men are hereditarily closer to their primitive heritage of the concept of born criminal.
Lombroso was a multifaceted researcher who took a gander at for all intents and purpose each part
of the lives, minds, bodies, state of mind, words, lifestyles, and practices of criminal guilty parties
with expectations of discovering the conclusive reason for crime. He was the pioneer in actuation of
investigative systems to criminology. Lombroso turned into a well known positive criminologist.
The essential thought behind constructive criminology is that lawbreakers are conceived as being
what is indicated and not made into criminals; as it were, it is the way of the individual, not sustain,
that brings about criminal inclinations. Lombroso s fundamental theory was his concept of atavism,

I m the King of the Castle by Susan Hill
Susan Hill, In the Set of the King of The Castle is based in a large house called Warings; it was
once before a countryside Mansion but now it all decayed. In this specific passage the reader is
given a clear idea of the reason behind it. Yet also, the whole extract gives us full details to
understand Joseph Hooper s wanting E Hooper s power, compassion and not respecting People s
human rights. Your father should have left you some money... to pay off all this debts , Since
the Beginning it was observed how Hooper abuses his social class to bully Kingshaw s Social
class and his fathers. In the end of the passage a small fight occurs between both characters where
Kingshaw punches Hooper and attempts to escape Warings. This specific incident sets the scene
where in chapter #3 he is attacked by a crow. The crow symbolises Hooper who is very protective
of his territory and will not let Kingsshaw threaten his privilege position at the Warings. The most
significant aspect of this Red room is the mention of the Moths.
The symbolism of the moths is to add a environment of death to the passage. The author uses the
Moths to add a sordid tone as the rest of the novel is taking place. The author uses the death of the
moth s to show how Hooper is slowly killing or taking Kingshaw s life hope or free spirit. The glass
cabinets filled with Moths are used to symbolise the death and disintegration of Hooper s power,
this can be shown through a simile glass showcases of moths and

Essay Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus
Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus
In her poem, Lady Lazarus, Sylvia Plath uses dark imagery, disturbing diction, and allusions to
shameful historical happenings to create a unique and morbid tone that reflects the necessity of life
and death. Although the imagery and diction and allusions are all dark and dreary, it seems that the
speaker s attitude towards death is positive. The speaker longs for death, and despises the fact the
she is continually raised up out of it.
From the title, Plath gives us immediately the theme of the poem. The title is a reference to a man
in the New Testament that had been dead for four days, and was raised to life by Jesus. Plath uses
this literary allusion to establish right off the bat that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

(5) Plath successfully creates an perfect image of what the speaker s skin looks like as she is
reawakened from death, and still manages to tie in a disturbing historical allusion that conjures up
horrible images of death.
Later on, towards the end of the poem Plath makes reference to another set of Nazi actions and by
doing so strengthening the image of death and destruction. In lines 73 thru 78, the speaker says:
Ash, ash You poke and stir. Flesh, bone, there is nothing there A cake of soap, A wedding ring, A
gold filling.
These images and allusions to horrific crimes against humanity do an excellent job of creating
an image of death as a horrible, painful thing. Plath alludes to the burning of the Jews in large
ovens, burning them down to ash, so that nothing was left but gold fillings, and a wedding ring,
as well as makes reference to another disturbing report that some Nazi soldiers made soap out of
the Jew s as well as lampshades. These terrible images are designed to paint a wretched view of
death. Interestingly enough, these images and ideas that death is a horrible, bad thing runs
contrary to the speakers actual feelings that death is a great way to escape life, and in the end it is
all she (the speaker) really wants to do.
Although Plath uses atrocious examples of death and uses the rebirth of Lazarus as the basis of the
poem, the underlying tone presented is

1.1. MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKS
1.1.1. Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) consists of a set of mobile hosts that carry out basic
networking functions like packet forwarding, routing, and service discovery without the help of
an established infrastructure [1]. Nodes of an ad hoc network rely on one another in forwarding
a packet to its destination, due to the limited range of each mobile host s wireless transmissions.
An ad hoc network uses no centralized administration. This ensures that the network will not
cease functioning just because one of the mobile nodes moves out of the range of the others.
Nodes should be able to enter and leave the network as they wish. Because of the limited
transmitter range of the nodes, multiple hops are generally needed to reach other nodes. Every
node in an ad hoc network must be willing to forward packets for other nodes. Thus, every node
acts both as a host and as a router. The topology of ad hoc networks varies with time as nodes
move, join or leave the network. This topological instability requires a routing protocol to run on
each node to create and maintain routes among the nodes [21].

Security Guards And The Security Field
There are many different types of security guards, those who are armed compared to those who
are not, those who patrol and those who sit behind a desk watching visitors entering and exiting a
building. There are many different types of sites that require different types of security coverage;
but the task remains the same across the board; to patrol, or monitor on CCTV (closed circuit

Security guards are a necessity to have in today s world, with the security force around; working
with the police at times it has expanded the areas where there may be a shortage of officers for
coverage. (Sapse, 2013)
With security there are many different kinds of tasks that are involved depending on where you

The Theories And Interventions That Can Be Applied For The...
In considering this case and within the social work profession, there are many theories and
interventions that can be applied to the SRS s CPS program including: contingency, conflict
resolution, organizational, systems, and empowerment theories. These theories do not operate
alone, instead they are combined with one another. The conflict resolution theoretical approach will
be utilized through the task centered model with evidence of NASW s Code of Ethics, because this
is specific to this case. An ethical practitioner should be knowledgeable of these practices and
evidence that supports them (NASW, 2008).
Goal and Objectives
SRS s CPS program goal is to develop a new culture in the way employees deliver services. In
order to accomplish this goal, the CPS program s supervisors will need to focus on and complete
two objectives, which are to develop and implement a required CPS training for all employees on
the new model within three weeks and to develop and provide a training manual with HIPPA
guidelines on case scenarios when and when not to remove children from their homes in order to
ensure more consistent services at SRS within four weeks.
Approaches and Models for Intervention
As stated previously, the conflict resolution theoretical approach will be utilized through the task
centered model. CPS is in need of required trainings for employees to develop a new culture on
how to effectively deliver services. This case study illustrates how culture and change are

Symbolism In The Catcher In The Rye
Although representation of the LGBT+ community is becoming more common in books,
especially those targeted towards teenagers, it is still lacking in the majority of literature. This
has caused members and supporters of the community to look for representation in places where
most people would say there isn t any. For example, to most people, The Catcher in the Rye by
JD Salinger is either about a pretentious teenager who complains about nothing or a depressed
teenager coping with a disillusioning loss of innocence. The first analysis can be backed by
reading the book at the surface level, the second by a more in depth understanding of symbolism
used throughout. However, there is a third narrative that eludes many people. Holden Caulfield is
attracted to men, but having experienced sexual abuseand living in a homophobic time, represses his
sexuality.
Holden calls various men handsome throughout the novel, indicating his attraction to them. When
he s describing his roommate, Stradlater, he says, I knew a lot of guys at Pencey I thought were a
lot handsomer than Stradlater (32). His use of the words I thought means that this is Holden s own
opinion of the guys handsomeness, not an objective fact based on beauty standards. This isn t the
only time he refers to a group of handsome men. When talking to a pianist in a bar bathroom, he
thinks about all these handsome guys (169). All suggests many, or at least more than just Stradlater
and the pianist, so Holden has seen

Scrooge Character Analysis
Scrooge is a very angry, rude, unfriendly character. Scrooge s cruel actions to most others are
unkind, especially when it s about Christmas. The bitterness drive in Scrooge against Christmas is
very strong. Scrooge also hates things such as love, happiness, generosity, and regards them as
irrational until such time that a rightful trio of ghosts came to set him right. Charles Dickenspaints
him as an old businessman, with a ring of frosty white hair on his head, a pointed nose, red eyes,
thin eyebrows, and a wiry chin. He s so cold inside, it makes his lips blue, the tip of his nose
strawberry red. The book describes him as hard and sharp as flint, self contained, and solitary
like an oyster. He is also described as a greedy man. One last feature is his shrew, grating voice,
and on page 1 of the 1st Stave, Charles writes ...no wind that blew, blew bitterer than he, no falling
snow more intent upon its purpose.... . Scrooge can be an very unfriendly person to be around on
the holidays, or in general.
Scrooge describes the first of the three spirits that visited him a person who looks like a cross
between a kid and an old man, or a grandpa. This ghost is named The Ghost of Christmas Past, and
the spirit is illustrated as a ghost whose appearance is constantly changing. So, say, one minute he
has two legs, the next he has eighteen, or he has a head, then he s the Headless Horseman.
Furthermore, he has a light emanating from the top of his head, and it is very, very

Essay on Graham Greene s The Power and the Glory
Graham Greene s The Power and the Glory
In Graham Greene s The Power and the Glory, setting is essential in understanding the spiritual
conquest of the main character. The story takes place in post revolution Mexico of the nineteen
thirties, where Catholicism has been banned. The government has shut down all of the churches
and established anti Catholic laws, jealous of the rising power of the church, and nervous of the
corrupt ways in which the church has been dealing with sin. The main character, a nameless
whiskey priest, hopelessly roams the desolate plains of southern Mexico, on the run from the law, as
the only priest left who has not denounced his fatherhood. The surrounding communities in
southern Mexico refuse to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Everybody the priest encounters will not harbour him because of fear of the law. These barren
lands symbolize the priest s feeling of worthlesness and rejection from God, and the feeling of
inevitable sin and the impossibility of martyrdom. I don t know how to repent. That was true: he
had lost the faculty. He couldn t say to himself that he wished his sin had never existed, because
the sin seemed to him now so unimportant and he loved the fruit of it... our sins have so much
beauty. (p. 128,130) The priest continues to create damage as several innocent members of passing
communities are executed by the police for not being able to provide adequate information on the
priest s course of action. The priest s developing knowledge of the damage he is creating adds guilt
to his anxiety, and he continues to question God about the meaning behind his situation.
It infuriated him to think that there were still people in the state
who believed in a loving and merciful God. There are mystics
who are said to have experienced God directly. He was a mystic,
too, and what he had experienced was vacancy a complete
certainty in the existence of a dying, cooling world, of human
beings who had evolved from animals for no pupose at all.

How Did Marilyn Monroe Impact Society
Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it s better to be absolutely ridiculous than
absolutely boring ( Marilyn Monroe Quotes ). Marilyn Monroe had many hardships throughout
her life. For example, living in multiple different foster homes and having troubles with three
marriages but was still able to have a positive look on her life most of the time. She was an
inspiration to be proud and happy with who you are. Marilyn Monroehad many struggles throughout
her life but found the strength to overcome them and have a pretty large impact on society.
Marilyn Monroe grew up as a very lonely child due to her mother s mental illness and living in
foster homes. She lived in over twelve different foster homes (Lewis 1). Marilyn s mother,
Gladys Baker, became very depressed soon after Marilyn was born and was institutionalized,
sending Marilyn into her first foster home ( Modern American Poetry 1). Albert and Ida Bolender

Let Me Know You Essay
Let Me Know You
My work Let Me Know You is a performance: without the audiences knowing what is going to
happen, I sniff their body from toe to head like an animal, with no physical touching. The most of
audiences feel uncomfortable during the performance, others, try to sniff me back at the same time.
Humans are commonly known to have five primary senses: sight, hearing, taste, touching and smell,
governed by five important organs: eyes, ears, tongue, skin and nose. Smell is often ignored ,
though, it plays an important role in our daily life without people noticing it. The purpose of my
performance is to remind people to explore all their senses, be more aware of the surroundings and
their own body. I developed new respects on objects that we see daily, and grew more appreciations
of human nature.
Scent takes a much important position in animal s world. People who have pets often notice
that cats take long time to find biscuits near their face. It is because their sights are bad in short
distance, and they rely on nose to locate food; in the wild, big cats spray urine to make their
territory, average 300 square kilometers; in the water, a shark can sense one drop of blood in a
million drops of water; dogs smells each others anus at the first time they meet, they only shut
down their tails to hide their odour when they are scared or dominated. Human, instead, are trying
to conceal body odour as much as they can. Being smelly is seen as rude and insanitary. Shampoos

A Courageous Mother At Gallipoli
On April 6th 2014 in the New Zealand Herald a story titled A courageous mother at Gallipoli was
published. The story is about Mary and Doug Hill, whose names were drawn out of a ballot to
attend the prestigious Anzac Day ceremony in Gallipoli to mark 100 years since the Gallipoli
landing. The article was also about Catherine O Donnell, Doug Hill s great grandmother, who was
the first mother of a New Zealandsoldier to travel to Gallipolito visit her son s grave, who had been
killed during battle. Along with the article is three secondary images and one primary image
which is on the first page of the two page article. In this essay I will use the techniques of semiotics
to analyse the images and the article. Semiotics is described as a system used for analysing how all
sign systems work (O Shaughnessy, Stadler 2012, p. 131). In regards to the article and the images
of A courageous mother at Gallipoli the semiotic analysis will look at the representation of
photojournalism, the historic and social values and our cultural identity, the denotative and
connotative meanings of the image, and the signifier and signs.
Representation and the critique of ideology apply to photojournalism because a photo does not
exist in isolation. This means that a photo always has more meaning than what is shown. A camera
only captures what is in front of the lens, not around or behind it, therefore there is always more to
the story than one image can portray. A photo also has different

The Change Management Model And Kotter s 8 Step Model
Academics such as Lewin and Kotter have outlined frameworks which fellow re searchers can
refer to when trying to implement organisational change successful ly. Although there are many
theories regarding change management, this research will focus Lewin s change management
model and Kotter s 8 step model. 3.1 Lewin change model The force field analysis by Lewin
(1951) demonstrates that there are three neces sary processes which organisation need to
consider when processing or imple menting change. The force field analysis aims to investigate
the balance of power between the driving forces of change and the resisting force or barriers to
success ful change implementation. It argues that there is a need to identify the key players
involved in the decision making and identify methods to influence those against change (Wagner
et al. 2011). The term force refer to any factor that has the potential of affecting the change
process within the organisation (Schwering, 2003). The three processes are specifically known
as Unfreeze stage, Change stage and final ly Refreezing stage. The unfreezing stage can be
regarded to some degree as a pre stage to change. The point of this stage is to get ready people to
change and making the organisation prepared to move from the present position to the new sought
one. Since amid the unfreezing stage people could feel the present state of affairs debilitated, it is
urgent that the greater part of the representatives get to be mindful from the

As numerous high school students choose their classes, they often see a foreign language as a

First Nations People In Canada
Ever since the British and French came to Canada, the first nations people have always seen
themselves get the short end of the stick. Examples of this are: having their land taken away from
them, receiving racial discrimination, being victim to Residential schools and being assigned a
reservation to live on. For the last two centuries our Canadian government has been trying to make
amends to these First NationsPeople. One of these amends to status indians are: No Taxes on any

Borderline Personality Barriers
Barriers and Challenges of Borderline Personality Disorder One of the most significant barriers to
any Personality Disorder is that the presentation may be better explained with a similar disorder.
Further, the impact of medication to treat medical ailments and the use of other substances may
provide a better explanation than a diagnosis of a Personality Disorder. Moreover, the individual s
sociocultural environment and life development may be far different from that of their current
situation ( American Psychiatric Association, 2013). As recognized in the research of Hermens, van
Splunteren, van den Bosch, and Verheul (2011), the barrier most commonly identified in
implementing treatment programs for people with BPD is receiving the recommended treatment of
psychotherapy. Further, due to a lack of trained psychotherapist, most people with BPD are not
receiving the proper treatment. Moreover, people with BPD that could find a qualified
psychotherapist, received therapy at a lower level than recommended (Hermens, van Splunteren,
van den Bosch, Verheul, 2011). Another barrier recognized in the research of Hermens et al. (2011)
was that limited health care financing resulted in a tremendous gap for those with BPD receiving
outpatient care. This is consistent with a similar problem in the United States in that insurance
companies are more apt to pay for medication than therapy. The conclusions reached in the research

According to Exodus 20:11 : For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea,
and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day
and hallowed it. This verse is found in the middle part of the TРµn CommandmРµnts. God told
the Israelites that the reason they had to work six days and rest on the seventh day, is because
He created everything and rested on the seventh day. It is thus not realistic to think we have to
work for six long periods (millions of years) and rest for another long period. The Bible also states
that Jesus woke up three days after his crucifixion, which could not mean millions of years.
Meredith Kline, from Westminster Theological Seminary proposed that Genesis should be
interpreted metaphorically and not literally like most of us do. Old Earth creationists believe that
scientific evidence cannot be overlooked. Scientists use the method of radiometric aging from
meteorite material to determine the age of Earth. Fossils were found that are much older than a few
thousand years, for example dinosaurs.
PERSONAL VIEW
I personally believe in biblical evolution. Science has an explanation for how life is evolving but
does not have a valid explanation of how life initially began, that is where science and Christianity
are compatible. Christianity can

Answer: The process started with the observation of Dr. Barry Marshall s observation of his

that helicobacter pylori was the causation of peptic ulcer disease and not the end byproduct of

My Aspects Of Sports And Sports Events In My Life
The last time I went to a sports event was over a year ago. Reflecting back on that day I had a lot

games was not very fun to me. I went because it was recreational and I was able to bond and enjoy
time with whomever I attended the gamewith. I am very undecided about favorite teams and I am
very competitive, so I will watch whatever team that battles it out.
The day I attended that game, I was off from work and it was sunny and the weather was beautiful.
My best friend asked if wanted to go watch the eagles play. We called about five more friends to
come with us and we decided to tailgate. We bought pizzas, and beers and headed down to the
stadium. As we pull up and park we unloaded the food and beers. I brought the football out we ran

to pay attention. Once we finished up with the football we started playing cornhole. You play the

preoccupied the entire time we never went into the stadium to actually watch the football game.

Marketing Children
Child obesity is a growing problem in today s society. On average 28% of girls age 6 11 are
overweight. Pediatricians are now seeing more and more children with high levels of cholesterol,
high blood pressure, and adult on set diabetes. In 1997 American children obtained 50% of their
calories from added fat and sugar and only 1% of children s diets resembled the recommended
proportions of the Food Pyramid.
The amount of money that is spent marketing to children is outrageous. Companies purposefully

Marketers understand that no child is too young to be targeted by television; many of these
programs are linked directly to commercial products. For example, Burger King then McDonald s
sponsored the public television show Teletubbies (show for toddlers). McDonald s distributed toys
of the four characters in their happy meals. It is estimated that advertising for children has now
reached over $1 billion. The most common advertised foods seen are not surprisingly low in
nutritional value; products such as, presweetened breakfast cereals, candy, fast food, sodas,
cookies, and chips. Its safes to say the money isn t being spent on advertising of fruits, vegetables,
bread, or fish.
Another largely upsetting report found that food commercials stimulate antisocial behavior in
children. Commercials aimed to children are overly dependent on socially negative material,
violence, conflict, and/or trickery. Food companies purposefully entice children by placing logos
on toys, games, clothing, and school supplies. They even go as far as to sponsor clubs, produce
magazines, buy time in movies, obtain celebrity endorsers, and add their logo to baby bottles. For
example, McDonald s offers cups, toys, placemats, movie coupons, special toys, and logo labeled
items for all occasions. Some companies now sell counting books to young children that require the

making it possible for huge ships often carrying goods from Asia to bypass their usual stops in

1,200 feet long and 49 feet deep. Some of those larger ships can carry nearly triple the cargo of the
ships going through the canal today.
But will any of those boats stop in the Gulf, or will they simply go to the East Coast or elsewhere
in the Atlantic Ocean? The U.S. lacks deep water ports on its southern shores, with limited options

Causal-Relational Studies
An important difference between causal comparative and correlational research is that causal
comparative studies involve two or more groups and one independent variable, while correlational
studies involve two or more variables and one group. (Gay Airasian, 2000, 364).
Causal comparative educational research identifies a relationship between an independent variable
and a dependent variable. This relationship suggests that the researcher must prove more. When the
research has true control over the independent variable the research will be considered as true
research.
Causal comparative research involves comparing (thus the comparative aspect) two groups in
order to explain existing differences between them on some variable or variables of interest. The
only difference between causal comparative and experimental research is that the groups being
compared in causal comparative research have already been formed, and any treatment (if there

Abstract (In progress)
Isotopic profiles of mollusks provide insight to the biology of fossil and living specimen and the
conditions under which they live in. Isotopic profiles record seasonal variance in temperature,
salinity, dissolved oxygen concentrations and can provide evidence of changes in bio mineralization
in correlation with seasonality and ontology. The shells of Tridacnaare beneficial for Pleistocene

It was also found that the amplitude of Оґ18O was greater in specimens gathered from shallow

Free Radical Research Paper
Free radicals are groups of atoms, molecules, or ions that possess an unpaired/unshared valence
electron in their electron orbitals. Due to this, many radicals are very reactive because they want
to reach a stable state. They can be classified as oxidants or reductants depending on whether they
accept electrons from other atoms or donate atoms. Free radicals can be produced by natural
processes such as metabolism. They are also generated from foods that we eat, water, medication,
etc.
Free radicals are essential to the human body because they are important components of the
immune system and they also assist the body with the production of chemical energy. However,
they can be dangerous. A free radicalcan take an an electron from another

Socrates s View Of Love
In The Symposium, Love is described to be a goddess by the men who are praising her powers in
several eulogies. However, Socrates proves that their claims are incorrect evaluations during his
speech. Socrates chooses to analyze and discuss the truth of love through rhetoric rather than submit
to the illusionary art of poetry that the other men used. Although the context of Loveis set up in the
mythological sense, Socrates speech transcends the topic from merely describing the goddess
powers to separating her as an entity from the actions and emotions that go along with the
conception of loving : I think you saw Love as the object of love instead of the lover (Plato, 40,
204b). Socrates, takes the route of philosophy and aims to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The idea that Socrates is portraying is that one must move past the emotions attached to the
physical world and transcend into the love of the mind. The goal of going through these steps is to
find this essential idea of beauty so that, in this divine sense, one can see love everywhere. Love
therefore, is shown in the mythological realm, but also as an abstract conception of the emotions
and actions that Love spurs within humans for the desire to search out and attain beauty. Socrates
touches on the idea of what it means to love another person, and how to find absolute beauty in this
pursuit.
The Fire Next Time emphasizes love in the communal sense and how when facing extreme hatred,
love can bring the marginalized together. Baldwin s text is heavily concentrated on the prejudicial
attitudes towards the African Americans by the Americans during the early 1960 s. The racism
described in this text is stressed by the violent actions towards and the overall dehumanization of the
African Americans. However, the hatred towards their race encourages the group to love each
other more: if we had not loved each other none of us would have survived (Baldwin, 7). The
African Americans are driven to other sources of love when exiled from the acceptance of the
whites, and ultimately come together as a unit to oppose the race who is persistent on tearing away
their humanity. Instead

Being A Cyber Security Professional
I had been a dental major until I suffered an accident in 2002. I needed the right index and the
middle fingers completely amputated, and I partially lost the thumb and the ring fingers. My
parents inducement along with the proverb, where there is a will, there is a way gave me
motivation in crucial circumstances as I embarked on a changed educational direction; however, I
graduated as a computer engineer with a good degree. Moreover, two years ago, I had been
diagnosed with lymphoma cancer while I was at the beginning of the SecurityTechnologies program
at the University of Minnesota. Again, parents and having my own family urged me to endure
toward my goal. These circumstances, let me think in a future secure work environment by
obtaining a position in the governmentagencies. Although my ambition to earn a master s degree is
not unique, my keen interest in being a cyber security professional is certain. Thus, the CyberCorps
SFS will be a focal point in my future career arrangement.
Graduating from St. Cloud State University, attaining security certifications, and attending
Information security conferences are the main goals in my next 4 year plan. First, graduating with a
master s program in Information Assurance with a Grade Point Average of 3.75 or better will
distinguish me among many jobs candidates. Furthermore, attaining certifications (Cisco Certified

A Leadership Position At The Accounting Department
In my organization, I am a supervisor over the accounting department, therefore I am in a
leadership position so I went ahead and took the report card based upon my own reflection. On
the report card, I scored an 87 as a my competence as a leader. The evaluation stated that I had
solid footing and that I understand the basic principles of an effective leader (Manning Curtis,
2008). In the evaluation it stated that as a leader that under my directions the staff s work can
be expected to be high. Two things I take pride it is my work and my word. While I am at work I
strive to set an example by being there usually the first one at work and the last one to leave, and
in between work as hard as I can. I think what pushes me for this dedication is how I was raised,
but also the understanding that being a state organization it is the citizens of the community s tax
dollars that is the main reason we have a job, so we owe it to them not to make a waste of their
hard earn money.
On question D, dealing with employee s knowing whether or not they do a good job or need to
improve, I scored myself a 3 (Manning Curtis, 2008). I try to always look for ways to help
education and explain things to my staff, but at times I find myself correcting the mistake myself.
The realization that people like to be told when they do things good is a good encouragement that
will help boost the employee s morale. I need to keep that in mind on a daily or weekly basis make

individuals, none of whom can be understood in isolation from their familysystem (Brown, 2012).
According to Bowen, a family is a system in which each member had a role to play and rules to

Hypocrisy In Canterbury s Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales is one of the most important pieces of writing from the Medieval times.Having a
major influence of religion to carry the tales out,While giving the reader an idea of how religion
dominated society during the fourteenth century. The narrative of Canterbury Tales are religious, as
the characters are on a pilgrimage to Canterbury. So,throughout the tales there are various evidence
of religious influences, but the two main Religious aspects that are very prominent within the text is
Religious Hypocrisyand Church Corruption. Religious Hypocrisy is when a virtuous person
with moral or religious beliefs or principles, usually in a high religious ranking who does not
really possess those qualities that they claim to have, and usually lives the total opposite way of
what they portray to believe in.There seems to be plenty of Hypocrisy going on in Canterbury
tales from majority of the characters. The old saying practice what you preach,is highly ignored
by the Pardoner, who traveled along the countryside selling official church pardons, which were
pieces of paper signed by a bishop entitling the bearer to forgiveness for their sins. The Pardoner
addresses ideas in his sermons such as greed, selfishness, and other sins.Only to neglect his own
teaches and indulge in these sins that he preaches against. He also is one of those main characters
that show us how much Church Corruption was going on within that time because, at one point he

Essay about Celiac Disease
Celiac disease (CD) is marked by an inability to absorb gluten. Gluten, also known as glutenin, is a
protein found in wheat, rye, barley, spelt, and triticale (Turner and Torkos). The problem with the
disease is that it is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system responds to gluten by
damaging the small intestine (Turner and Torkos). This damage to the small intestine is
characterized by villous atrophy in people who are genetically susceptible (Parnell and Ciclitira).
The disorder may latent for years and then suddenly cause horrendous symptoms that may be
misdiagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome. There is danger in a misdiagnosis because many high

At her advanced age, Florence s doctor decided to inject plastic into the bones to provide stable
strength and to ensure that future breaks would not occur. Weeks later, she had a scope done,
checking the small intestine for damage to the mucosa and microvilli. The ending result was a
diagnosis of celiac and a decision that she must be put on a gluten free diet for the rest of her natural
life (Florence). With celiac disease, many negative outcomes are possible and many more are
probable. Further research into celiac disease substantiates the belief that further research, public
awareness, and knowledge are imperative in discovering how to deal with the disease and how to
spread awareness of this very serious problem. The small intestine is lined with microvilli (sing.
microvillus) and mucosa that entrap and absorb the vital nutrients the body needs to sustain healthy
function. With celiac patients, consuming gluten containing foods causes the breakdown of these
microvilli and the mucosa, causing malnutrition through the inability to absorb the necessary
vitamins and minerals. As celiac is an autoimmune disorder, it stands to reason that the antibodies
are attacking the small intestine and are therefore able to be detected in the blood. This reasoning
has been discovered to be true and has become an

How Women Are Treated in India
In many parts of the world females still have very little rights. Indeed, equality between men and
women have been accepted by the majority of the developed countries, but developing countries
still struggle to see women as equals to men, and India is one of the worst. Currently, the Indian
National Congress Party is only 10% female, limiting the say women get. In India, women are
definitely not seen as equals to men are being treated like second rate citizens. It also really says
something about the inequality in a country when its women are so used to being treated badly
most of them do not even recognize that they have rights. In India, men were always valued
more than women, which is why an estimated ten million female foetuses are aborted every year.
The lack of females in areas leads to crimes like human trafficking for sexual reasons like giving
birth to more children. Old traditions and beliefs are the main reasons to why millions of female
foetuses are aborted every year, but it is also the reason behind bride burning, another serious issue
in India.
Bride burning, also known as dowry death occurs quite frequently in India. It is when the
husband or the in laws decide that the dowry the bride offers is not enough and demands more. If
the bride refuses or is financially not able to increase her dowry, she is tortured until she either
agrees or dies; otherwise she is murdered by her family . The husbands and the in laws usually
disguise the deaths as accidents or

Spanking Child Abuse
Some parents think spanking a child is abuse when the parent hits a child for something he or
she has done wrong like talking back to the parents. However, there are many parents who call it
discipline. While some parents say it is a form of child abuse when children are spanked. Some
caretakers never spank or hit children in their care as a means of discipline. Some parents are
unaware of the types of problems they expose their children to if they hit them in order to
discipline. A fine line exists between discipline and child abuse.

Doing that plays a big role in a child s life because they do not want to sit in a chair for a while.
Most children like to move around and play. They also do not want their prized possessions taken
away. For example, the child acts up in the store or in school, then the parent takes a toy that they
like to play with. By taking their favorite toy and not allowing them to play, the child s feelings are
hurt and they learn to avoid behaviors that are unacceptable. According to the article, Pope Scolded

  • 3. Current Outbreak Of The Ebola Virus . What is Ebola? Ebola, also called Hemorrhagic Fever is a rare deadly disease caused by infection with a strain of ebola virus. This organism causes fever, headache, coughing blood, vomiting blood, severe bleeding, organ failure, and leads to death. It is spread through body fluids and blood of someone who is showing ebola symptoms. Ebola can also be spread by hazardous products (unclean needles or unscreened blood), skin to skin contact, exchanging saliva (kissing, sharing drinks or food), and making contact with a contaminated surface (doorknob, tissue, etc.). The most current outbreak of Ebola is in West Africawhich was discovered in March of 2014 and is considered one of the biggest Ebola outbreaks since Ebola was discovered in 1976. The countries affected the most by this virus are Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. These countries do not have a stable economy which means they cannot afford the tools and technology to study the virus. In 2014 there were 9,936 Ebola victims but only 4,877 died that year. The virus has an extremely high risk of death. It kills between 25 and 90 percent of those infected by Ebola. • 4. Stokely Carmichael Black Power What is Black Power? Black power is a movement lead by Stokely Carmichael which promoted the idea of black empowerment and creating a community where blacks feel comfortable in. It implies self determination and self motivation. This means blacks should not rely on white authority to fix racial issues but rather take matters into their own hands. It is a call for blacks to define their own goals. This was not only meant as freedom from white authority but also as economical and political independence. In this way Black Power was taking control of the future of blacks in both economical and political ways and establishing a community in which they will not have to suffer living as second class citizens. Black power also encouraged blacks to have pride in their racial heritage and be proud to be black. A way of promoting this was by using the slogan Black is Beautiful , to get people to see the beauty of being black and not to be ashamed of their prominent black features. Stokely Carmichael encouraged this form of Black Pride by saying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This support was essential as being a liberal, he needed their backing in order to successfully combat racial laws. Also the Federal Government had brought down many decisions in favour of the Civil Rights Movement so to threaten them in this way, was in his opinion, unwise. King was also aware that white liberals would lose sympathy towards the Civil Rights Movement due to the violent, overpowering connotations Black Power portrayed. King was sure the emergence of Black Power could alienate the white support which he believed was needed. • 5. Snickers Vs Twix Research Paper Throughout many years there has been a debate between whether Snickers or Twix is the best candy bar overall. When discussed, people have disputed on whether the flavors in the candy bars are tastier, which candy bar is healthier, and which has more appeal in advertising.Even though Snickers and Twix bars are made by the same company (Mars) they are very different. Snickersfans might say that Snickers bars are the best because they have peanuts in the bar, this might be true for the majority people, but not those with allergies. This evidence proves that Twix is the best candy bar. One of the reasons that people think that Twix is the best candy bar is its overall appeal. Furthermore, the wafer adds to the overall appeal. Compared to Snickers which has a chewy nougat, Twix s wafer is crunchy and thick. Also the gold represents the caramel in the candy bar. A good selling strategy to have two bars, so that the customer feels like they are getting more. Having two candy bars helps the customer feel like they are getting more in one package. It also helps with the advertisement. The ads also help sell the product, with the competition between left and right Twix. The ad features two factories, left and right, and each factory thinks the other one copied their candy bar. This is entertaining because they make the same thing with the same ingredients. Now when you buy a package of the fun size Twix the bars are packaged saying whether it is left or right, and the customer can decide which one they like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Debate Of Public Livestock Grazing Western United States was unsettled by Americans in early the years. After the Civil War, known as the era of homesteading, was designed by the government to promote the settlement of the western states. Because there was a lack of understanding of the arid ecosystems and the increase of westward settlement, western public rangelands were overgrazed. This in turn caused unintended damage to soil, plants, streams, and springs. In 1934 the Taylor Grazing Act was passed by Congress to create grazing districts that were portioned and regulated. In the 1960s and the 1970s public appreciation for public lands increased. This advertently caused the Bureau of Land Management(BLM) to modify land grazing permits so that endangered species, sensitive plants, and cultural or historical objects can be preserved. (A Brief History of Public Lands Grazing, Bureau of Land Management) Still today the debate of public livestock grazing continues. There is much tension between farmers, wildlife and environmental activists, the government, and the Bureau of Land Management. Farmers say public livestock grazing production is economically beneficial. Wildlife and environmental activist argue that this grazing harms the wildlife and their ecosystems. The government sees other ways to use the land that would increase economic benefits. BLM is trying their best to make sure everyone is happy. I should be allowed to research the controversy that surrounds livestock grazing on public lands because: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in JudaismTzedakah is simply what is just and is the expectation. According to Maimonides, there are different levels of Tzedakah the lowest being giving begrudgingly and the highest being not only lending someone money or donating, but helping them by getting them a job or giving them resources. The idea of it is similar to the saying give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish ... • 9. Mysteries Of The Mind Analysis After conducting a close reading of Victor Davis Hanson s article, Monasteries of the Mind, I came to the consensus that he provided many plausible and thought provoking arguments regarding the political climate in the United States right now. He asserts in the article that in recent months there has been a double standard from what was accepted and praised during the Obama administration and and what is looked down upon in the Trump administration. In fact, Hanson accentuated that, There is now something called the Resistance, which by its nomenclature poses that its opposition to Trump is reminiscent of European partisan resistance to Hitler [1]. Civilization continues to be indolent and naive and real change will never come about, because people are too stubborn to ever change their ways and believe that their problems can be solved with someone else s help. However, this help will never come, because of the never ending cycle of laziness that embodies many Americans. Speaking of American s indolence, I was taken aback by Hanson s assertion of sports and media with the general public, Instead, they have checked out mentally from American popular entertainment, sports, and the progressive cultural project in general [1]. This was shocking because I would think that more and more people are getting sucked into this dry form of entertainment, because of their intruding laziness. Yes, there are certainly people who are beginning to realize there are changes to be made to the country, however, I think that the majority of citizens are still blind to the truth. Furthermore, I strongly disagree with Hanson s statement associated and directed towards Colin Kaepernick who back in August of 2016 refused to stand for the national anthem, as a $20 million per annum, mediocre, and pampered quarterback refuses to stand for the National Anthem ... However, in 1950, the Services returned to using a single test, the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT). This test was developed and modeled after the AGCT, and was the first test used in the military as a screening instrument. It measured the individual s general ability to grasp military training within in the necessary allotted time, and it also offered a uniform measure of the individual s potential performance in the military. Also, tests like The Army Classification Battery and the Navy Basic Test Battery were used to classify recruits into service specific jobs. In 1968, the ASVAB was introduced as a part of the Student Testing Program. The Air Force was the first to use the ASVAB in 1973, followed by the Marine Corps in 1974. However, the Army and Navy did not adopt the ASVAB until 1976, after the Department of Defense decided that all Services should use it for the purpose of screening enlistees and placing them in military jobs. The AFQT has been mostly retained and is now a subtest of the ASVAB. Since the introduction and adoption of the ASVAB, it has undergone many changes as far as content and scoring. • 11. Allegory In The Giver Allegorical messages appear often in the giver because they are broad with different meanings. The Giver is a book about a controlled community. This community is based upon sameness which means everything is the same. They have many rules and things like climate control to maintain the sameness. There are no individual birthdays either; at the end of the year all the babies born that year turn one whether they were born the week before or 5 months before, this also helps maintain sameness. When children turn twelve, at The Ceremony of Twelve, they get their assignments and this will be their jobs from then until they became an elder. There is one person of the community who holds all the memory about the past and this person is The Receiver. The protagonist, Jonas, becomes The Receiver at his ceremony of twelve. • 12. The Link Between Science And Crime The link between science and crime was originated days back in 1840 s in Europe and when Spanish physician Soler made reference to the concept of the born criminal. No one in the history of criminology has a reputation like Cesare Lombroso. Darwin s hypothesis of development, with its startling decisions and cautious arrangement frameworks, in view of point by point physical portrayals of many finch mouths and ocean turtle carapaces, is a prime sample of this new science. Taking up from where Darwin left, Cesare Lombroso s deliberate investigation of criminal physiognomy tried to support society by recognizing crooks. Lombroso particularly inspired by the thought of Charles Darwin that some men are hereditarily closer to their primitive heritage of the concept of born criminal. Lombroso was a multifaceted researcher who took a gander at for all intents and purpose each part of the lives, minds, bodies, state of mind, words, lifestyles, and practices of criminal guilty parties with expectations of discovering the conclusive reason for crime. He was the pioneer in actuation of investigative systems to criminology. Lombroso turned into a well known positive criminologist. The essential thought behind constructive criminology is that lawbreakers are conceived as being what is indicated and not made into criminals; as it were, it is the way of the individual, not sustain, that brings about criminal inclinations. • 14. I m the King of the Castle by Susan Hill Susan Hill, In the Set of the King of The Castle is based in a large house called Warings; it was once before a countryside Mansion but now it all decayed. In this specific passage the reader is given a clear idea of the reason behind it. Yet also, the whole extract gives us full details to understand Joseph Hooper s wanting E Hooper s power, compassion and not respecting People s human rights. Your father should have left you some money... to pay off all this debts , Since the Beginning it was observed how Hooper abuses his social class to bully Kingshaw s Social class and his fathers. In the end of the passage a small fight occurs between both characters where Kingshaw punches Hooper and attempts to escape Warings. This specific incident sets the scene where in chapter #3 he is attacked by a crow. The crow symbolises Hooper who is very protective of his territory and will not let Kingsshaw threaten his privilege position at the Warings. The most significant aspect of this Red room is the mention of the Moths. The symbolism of the moths is to add a environment of death to the passage. The author uses the Moths to add a sordid tone as the rest of the novel is taking place. The author uses the death of the moth s to show how Hooper is slowly killing or taking Kingshaw s life hope or free spirit. • 15. Essay Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus In her poem, Lady Lazarus, Sylvia Plath uses dark imagery, disturbing diction, and allusions to shameful historical happenings to create a unique and morbid tone that reflects the necessity of life and death. Although the imagery and diction and allusions are all dark and dreary, it seems that the speaker s attitude towards death is positive. The speaker longs for death, and despises the fact the she is continually raised up out of it. From the title, Plath gives us immediately the theme of the poem. The title is a reference to a man in the New Testament that had been dead for four days, and was raised to life by Jesus. Plath uses this literary allusion to establish right off the bat that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (5) Plath successfully creates an perfect image of what the speaker s skin looks like as she is reawakened from death, and still manages to tie in a disturbing historical allusion that conjures up horrible images of death. Later on, towards the end of the poem Plath makes reference to another set of Nazi actions and by doing so strengthening the image of death and destruction. In lines 73 thru 78, the speaker says: Ash, ash You poke and stir. Flesh, bone, there is nothing there A cake of soap, A wedding ring, A gold filling. These images and allusions to horrific crimes against humanity do an excellent job of creating an image of death as a horrible, painful thing. Plath alludes to the burning of the Jews in large ovens, burning them down to ash, so that nothing was left but gold fillings, and a wedding ring, as well as makes reference to another disturbing report that some Nazi soldiers made soap out of the Jew s as well as lampshades. These terrible images are designed to paint a wretched view of death. Interestingly enough, these images and ideas that death is a horrible, bad thing runs contrary to the speakers actual feelings that death is a great way to escape life, and in the end it is all she (the speaker) really wants to do. Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) consists of a set of mobile hosts that carry out basic networking functions like packet forwarding, routing, and service discovery without the help of an established infrastructure [1]. Nodes of an ad hoc network rely on one another in forwarding a packet to its destination, due to the limited range of each mobile host s wireless transmissions. An ad hoc network uses no centralized administration. This ensures that the network will not cease functioning just because one of the mobile nodes moves out of the range of the others. Nodes should be able to enter and leave the network as they wish. Because of the limited transmitter range of the nodes, multiple hops are generally needed to reach other nodes. Every node in an ad hoc network must be willing to forward packets for other nodes. Thus, every node acts both as a host and as a router. The topology of ad hoc networks varies with time as nodes move, join or leave the network. This topological instability requires a routing protocol to run on each node to create and maintain routes among the nodes [21]. 1.1.1. Mobile Ad hoc Networks Usages Wireless ad hoc ... In considering this case and within the social work profession, there are many theories and interventions that can be applied to the SRS s CPS program including: contingency, conflict resolution, organizational, systems, and empowerment theories. These theories do not operate alone, instead they are combined with one another. The conflict resolution theoretical approach will be utilized through the task centered model with evidence of NASW s Code of Ethics, because this is specific to this case. An ethical practitioner should be knowledgeable of these practices and evidence that supports them (NASW, 2008). Goal and Objectives SRS s CPS program goal is to develop a new culture in the way employees deliver services. In order to accomplish this goal, the CPS program s supervisors will need to focus on and complete two objectives, which are to develop and implement a required CPS training for all employees on the new model within three weeks and to develop and provide a training manual with HIPPA guidelines on case scenarios when and when not to remove children from their homes in order to ensure more consistent services at SRS within four weeks. • 22. Symbolism In The Catcher In The Rye Although representation of the LGBT+ community is becoming more common in books, especially those targeted towards teenagers, it is still lacking in the majority of literature. This has caused members and supporters of the community to look for representation in places where most people would say there isn t any. For example, to most people, The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger is either about a pretentious teenager who complains about nothing or a depressed teenager coping with a disillusioning loss of innocence. The first analysis can be backed by reading the book at the surface level, the second by a more in depth understanding of symbolism used throughout. However, there is a third narrative that eludes many people. Holden Caulfield is attracted to men, but having experienced sexual abuseand living in a homophobic time, represses his sexuality. Holden calls various men handsome throughout the novel, indicating his attraction to them. When he s describing his roommate, Stradlater, he says, I knew a lot of guys at Pencey I thought were a lot handsomer than Stradlater (32). His use of the words I thought means that this is Holden s own opinion of the guys handsomeness, not an objective fact based on beauty standards. This isn t the only time he refers to a group of handsome men. When talking to a pianist in a bar bathroom, he thinks about all these handsome guys (169). The article was also about Catherine O Donnell, Doug Hill s great grandmother, who was the first mother of a New Zealandsoldier to travel to Gallipolito visit her son s grave, who had been killed during battle. Along with the article is three secondary images and one primary image which is on the first page of the two page article. In this essay I will use the techniques of semiotics to analyse the images and the article. Semiotics is described as a system used for analysing how all sign systems work (O Shaughnessy, Stadler 2012, p. 131). In regards to the article and the images of A courageous mother at Gallipoli the semiotic analysis will look at the representation of photojournalism, the historic and social values and our cultural identity, the denotative and connotative meanings of the image, and the signifier and signs. Representation and the critique of ideology apply to photojournalism because a photo does not exist in isolation. This means that a photo always has more meaning than what is shown. Although there are many theories regarding change management, this research will focus Lewin s change management model and Kotter s 8 step model. 3.1 Lewin change model The force field analysis by Lewin (1951) demonstrates that there are three neces sary processes which organisation need to consider when processing or imple menting change. The force field analysis aims to investigate the balance of power between the driving forces of change and the resisting force or barriers to success ful change implementation. It argues that there is a need to identify the key players involved in the decision making and identify methods to influence those against change (Wagner et al. 2011). The term force refer to any factor that has the potential of affecting the change process within the organisation (Schwering, 2003). The three processes are specifically known as Unfreeze stage, Change stage and final ly Refreezing stage. The unfreezing stage can be regarded to some degree as a pre stage to change. The point of this stage is to get ready people to change and making the organisation prepared to move from the present position to the new sought one. Borderline Personality Barriers Barriers and Challenges of Borderline Personality Disorder One of the most significant barriers to any Personality Disorder is that the presentation may be better explained with a similar disorder. Further, the impact of medication to treat medical ailments and the use of other substances may provide a better explanation than a diagnosis of a Personality Disorder. Moreover, the individual s sociocultural environment and life development may be far different from that of their current situation ( American Psychiatric Association, 2013). As recognized in the research of Hermens, van Splunteren, van den Bosch, and Verheul (2011), the barrier most commonly identified in implementing treatment programs for people with BPD is receiving the recommended treatment of psychotherapy. Further, due to a lack of trained psychotherapist, most people with BPD are not receiving the proper treatment. Moreover, people with BPD that could find a qualified psychotherapist, received therapy at a lower level than recommended (Hermens, van Splunteren, van den Bosch, Verheul, 2011). Another barrier recognized in the research of Hermens et al. (2011) was that limited health care financing resulted in a tremendous gap for those with BPD receiving outpatient care. Causal-Relational Studies An important difference between causal comparative and correlational research is that causal comparative studies involve two or more groups and one independent variable, while correlational studies involve two or more variables and one group. (Gay Airasian, 2000, 364). Causal comparative educational research identifies a relationship between an independent variable and a dependent variable. This relationship suggests that the researcher must prove more. When the research has true control over the independent variable the research will be considered as true research. Causal comparative research involves comparing (thus the comparative aspect) two groups in order to explain existing differences between them on some variable or variables of interest. Abstract (In progress) Isotopic profiles of mollusks provide insight to the biology of fossil and living specimen and the conditions under which they live in. Isotopic profiles record seasonal variance in temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen concentrations and can provide evidence of changes in bio mineralization in correlation with seasonality and ontology. The shells of Tridacnaare beneficial for Pleistocene paleoceanography isotopic studies because of their large size making it easier to gain detailed samples of shell carbonate.
