In Robert Browning s poem Porphyria s lover, the narrator killed his lover to remain in his love
forever. There are two main characters in this poem: the female character, Porphyria, and her
lover. Her lover is low class while Porphyria comes from a decent family. Because of this

Life In The Trenches During WWI
Life in the trenches during WWI was miserable. There seem to be no words that could truly
match the horrific experience, but soldiers tried to conjure images using literature to come close
to their experience. As stated in The World s History, Europe had not warfare on such a scale
since the Napoleonic wars (Spodek 664). Even watching the American Civil War from afar could
not have prepared Europe and the young men that served for the devastation WWI brought. The

In Element 1, I will present some cases where deception is thought to be lying, and other cases
where deception is not thought to be lying. I will contend that, when deception is lying, it is
immoral and I will give reasons for why this is the case. After my presentation, I will take a look at
some possible criticisms of my arguments and then answer those criticisms. Then, I will present my
conclusions.
In Element 2, I will contend that people for whatever reason choose to lie about things in order to
persuade others into thinking that the truth is on their side. Lying takes a group of actions or
words that are clearly false to the perpetrator to try to bait someone into thinking that it is truthful.
When deceptions are thought to be lies, it can be a very eerie situation because the person that
was lied to did not get complete or enough adequate information of what was told. Yes, what
someone said may have been truthful, but not all of the information was being told. The person
receiving the information is left without additional pieces to the story although he or she does not
know this, which makes the person assume that what you said was the end all be all to the
situation. These situations can likely equate to being a lie because of the information that was
omitted. Once the person finds out that pieces of information was left out or incomplete, they will

Primates, especially Chimpanzee s, are one of the closest relatives to Homo sapiens on planet
Earth today. With the development of zoos in modern society, the observation of these animals has
become a relatively easy task and have allowed for humans to observe their actions and behaviors
in close proximity and in an in depth manner. I have been to numerous zoos throughout my lifetime
and have viewed all sorts of different primates and in particular chimpanzees. Chimpanzees are
highly interesting as they are closely related to humans and many of their behaviors are similar
to that of humans yet, they are taken out of their natural environments and put in these so called
zoo s. Over my time viewing these animals from previous trips to the zoo, it seems that every
time I went to the Chimpanzee exhibit there was less excitement than anticipated and the Chimp

taking this into consideration, I wanted to test the reasons for this relaxed state and answer the
question of why the Chimpanzee s seem so relaxed and somewhat docile when in captivity? Why
are they so relaxed around the hundreds of zoo goers that go in and out of the zoo every day? Do
they not view them as a threat? These questions helped me form my hypothesis of if a chimpanzee
is in captivity it will have a more relaxed nature than it being in its own natural habitat due to
having no predators and scheduled feeding times.

draft. The American public has become disconnected from the military. The time has come to do
something about this; it is time to reinstate the draft. There are three reasons why the draft should
be reinstated. The costs of military personnel have soared in recent years, it would make elected
officials think twice before sending troops overseas since there will be a larger pool of draftees it

and wisdom to come to a solution. Often times, people do not have enough knowledge stored in
their minds to make a wise decision. However, if people would read between the lines of books,
they would come to the realization that there are many life lessons to learn from the wise words of
authors. Throughout the novel The Once and Future King, three major themes are presented. These
themes include war is destructive, people should not try to alter their destiny, and family is not
always loyal. All three of these themes are presented multiple times and three different characters
enforce each one. War is synonymous with destruction. Humanity has dealt with war since the
beginning of time, yet people continue to start it, despite the bloodshed and trauma. It isn t until
