Confederation In 1865
1. The first major reason of confederation was the threat of an American takeover. From 1861 to 1865,
a Civil War occurred in America between Northern states fighting the Southern states. The issue was
whether North and South should remain united or whether the South would separate. Canada became
involved in the tension in 1864. A group of Southern soldiers raided the village of St Albans in
Vermont, a Northern state. They robbed banks, set houses on fire, and then dashed across the border
into Canada to escape. The Northern state saw this incident as evidence that Canada was hostile to the
North cause. When North won the Civil War in 1865, Canadians really began to worry; they wondered
whether North would now turn its armies on them. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This new organized commerce law is horrendous for us! We can no more make a benefit by
exchanging with the Americans, and the greater part of our trench frameworks and flour plants are no
more use to us! We have no benefit! We require assets from different states! Americans Here are some
alternate points of view and responses of the new organized commerce law, expressing that Britain
would permit merchandise from any nation without duty. The new unhindered commerce law is
incredible for us! We can now openly exchange with Great Britain for no assessment, and make a
considerably more prominent benefit! Presently we can put resources into more channel frameworks
and flour factories to make a fortune! English North American Colonies Great

Wiz Khalifa Biography
When I heard about the band, Artic Rush, on their tour called, Freeze the World, I was immediately
intrigued. I then made my way to Seattle, WA on June 20, 2016, to see if band was all it s cracked up
to be. The first thing I noticed multiple different was the tickets were an extraordinary price of only
$75! That is outrageously cheap for the quality of the show. The lead singer, Jimmy Buffet has an
amazing voice with multiple personalities shown in the different songs. On the guitar is Wiz Khalifa
who has many electrifying solos and plays with fire in his heart. The keyboardist, Drake, doesn t get
much credit but in the background of each song you can clearly hear his smooth keyboard style played
with perfection. Kanye West also has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The great thing was there was snow in June! That created an amazing experience that will certainly
not be forgotten. The band then performed their big hit known across the nation called, A Touch of Ice.
The atmosphere during the show had me electrified and made me get on my feet. The most memorable
part to me was when Wiz Khalifa froze the crowd with his outstanding guitar solo. The next song
entitled, Icy Roads, was a song that Jimmy Buffet really sung his heart out. It was a slower song than,
A Touch of Ice, with a whole different, smooth style. Lasers, lasers, lasers! While the song went on,
there was an eye grabbing laser show! The crowd would see lasers of all colors, glistening across the
arena! Unfortunately, during the show, one of the speakers died, freezing all action. That was the only
disappointing thing to me, and if they make sure that doesn t happen again, the show will be perfect!
After the show Drake told reporters, I feel like we played our hearts out on the stage. There are still
people who deserve just as much praise as we do and they are the people backstage. They make sure
the effects and everything are perfect for us to

Comparing Donn Rosen And Skepticism
Making a list of assumptions that inhibit scientific progress (Rosen 2016), especially when the
assumptions are mostly long held and cherished beliefs by many in comparative biology, identified
Donn Rosen as a skeptic. Skepticism has a long, storied, and varied history, which I am not going to
recount, but I can probably be safe to define skepticism as a philosophical view that raises doubts
about the adequacy or reliability of the evidence that could be offered to justify any proposition
(Popkin 2003). Now the kind of doubts, the kind of adequacy, the kind of evidence, and the kind of
justification associated with schools of skepticism vary widely, but suffice to say the general feel of
the definition covers most forms. The goal of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosen was not a formal skeptic in that he did not devise approaches or arguments to detect when
evidences or beliefs did not support knowledge claims. I argue he was a skeptic in that he voiced
concerns, doubts, about apparent evidence that supposedly supported particular beliefs, ideas, or
dogmas. So his skepticism was based on evidence, on his conclusions that observation did not match
theory, regardless of how dearly the theory was held by others. What Rosen certainly was not, was a
denier. As in the individual that simply denies something without regard to evidence, an evolution of
life did not happen type of denier. Rosen was lumped into the pattern cladist school that was
characterized by Beatty (1982) as being antievolution (Carpenter 1987), thus possibly considered a
denier. Brady (1982), among many others (e.g. Patterson 1982; Platnick 1982, Carpenter, 1987)
rescued pattern cladistics from the misinterpretation of Beatty. Regardless, if we are stuck with the
assumption that the evolution of life followed a strictly neo Darwinian process, then what other ideas
are left to explore when inconsistencies crop up? That was Rosen s position as a skeptic, asking can
we do cladistics without a neo darwinian covering theory? And so, we see that as his inhibiting
assumption

African American Child Segregation Essay
Segregation and discrimination have brought traumatic distress to the black community as it is still
evident in today s society.Though it is illegal to segregate others because of their racial background or
religion, the terror of this act is just the same as it was when it was legal. Upon discovery about their
ancestor s past, African American children unconsciously strip any positive perspective they have of
themselves which eventually passes on to others around them.
A study done by Psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark in the 1940 s was done in order to test the
effects segregation has on African American children. A set of 4 almost identical dolls, different in
color, were placed before a group of 3 7 year old children. The question
which doll do you prefer and why? was asked which most children chose the white doll. Additional to
their responses, the children would associate positive comments ... Show more content on

The 9/11 attack by a group of Muslim Extremist have placed all muslims in a situation where bombs
and terrorism is the first thing thought of when seen. The entire group is not responsible for the horror
that happened that day but they are all blamed. Syria, a country dominated by Islam, is in trouble and
seeks help from America but are not given because of their anxiety they developed about Muslims.
The country is making it difficult for Syrian refugees to enter the country because they are concerned
about what these people will do upon arrival. Not all Muslims are terrorists. Most will not think like
such but will rather question every suspicious move any member of Islam makes. A prime example of
such is Ahmed Mohamed. Ahmed is a 14 year old boy from Texas who was arrested for bringing in a

Alain Robbe-Grillet and the Secret Room Essay
Alain Robbe Grillet and The Secret Room
On page 2032 of the class s anthology, there is a work by Alain Robbe Grillet entitled The Secret
Room . What interests me about this work is that I thought that this topic or story is deep and hard to
get the idea. So, I wanted to know about Alain Robbe Grillet and wanted to get the idea. In this
connection, the question that I want to research is who Alain Robbe Grillet is and what is this story
about. First of all, Robbe grillet, he was born in Brittany, France, where was the place for scientists
and engineers. At first, he was not a writer. He earned the degree in mathematics and natural science.

The novel is set in a small Belgian city, a city with a considerable network of canals and bridges and
boulevards that all look the same; throughout the novel, the city becomes a type of labyrinth, adding
an ambiguous complexity of space to the novel s non linear chronology. The Erasers is more
accessible than his later novels like Jealousy and In The Labyrinth , both penultimate examples of the
New Novel. The erratic chronology, suggested symbols, circular repetitions, and stylized description
deconstruct time and space in these novels forcing the reader to reconstruct the plot. These writerly
texts transport readers to complex fictional, hence illusory, universes. The visual nature of Robbe
Grillet s books continue in his later novels, of which the collaborative novel La Belle Captive , a novel
written by Robbe Grillet with paintings and illustrations by the surrealist René Margritte, is a perfect
example where art informs art and the two mediums color the reading of each other. Recently, in 1995,
Robbe Grillet finished a trilogy: a fictional autobiography. Embracing the vogue genre of the
autobiography and foregrounding its inherently subjective nature, Robbe Grillet continues to brave the
edge of his art in the same spirit of innovation that has marked all his work. Robbe Grillet, he is very
good at describing scenes. He describes the room, the victim, and also light and smoke. So, we can

Greetings Jack, Brady, Peter, Butch, Bart, Dennis, Paul;
Just over 1 year ago I voluntarily took over the organizational aspects of the Communion Service
Team. I did not believe that my calling was to become the full Ministry Team Leader. However, I have
apparently, by default, evolved into that position. At differing times, I have included many you in
emails as I proceeded to organize and coordinate Communion servers. Today, because of the ongoing
status of the Service Team, I believe it necessary to include all of you in this update of the team s
condition, and its effects on SLC into the coming summer months.

With the Elders continually being overtaxed with duties, this slowly transitioned to recruited lay men.
Criteria in hand, I developed a multiple month strategy aimed at attracting new members. Past
precedent and best practices with volunteers indicated that that simply putting out bulletin messages
was not an effective recruitment tool. Thus, our team s first step was the initiation of several face to
face challenges to people we knew to consider the ministry. I believe this attempt failed due in part to
most of the people that we knew were either already engaged in other ministries, or did not wish to
join one.
The next phases included requesting the Small Group Ministry to alert their Group Leaders of the
opportunity to serve the Church; both individually and/or as a small group. This was closely followed
by a similar request to both the Men s, Women s, and High School /Middle School Youth ministries. I
requested that if they were willing to get the word out to us to please make it an in person and personal
appeal at their meetings (again, because general we need help emails tend to be ineffective). I also
made myself available to attend any event or presentation.
Small group ministries created a very nice write up. However, it eventually went out as an emailed
notice. This yielded no recruits. When I unofficially polled a few group leaders at a later training
event, no one recalled that

Voiding Cystourethrography
Micturating cystourethrography (MCUG), or voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) is a functional
study of patient s bladder and urethra. It evaluates patient s ability to urinate, general indications
include trauma and incontinence. Fever within last 24 hours, active UTI and allergy to contrast media
are considered as contraindications for VCUG.
The clinical notes stated that the young patient suffered from recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI)
and the doctor wanted to exclude recurrent vesicoureteral reflux (RVUR), which is a retrograde flow
of urine. There are different procedures help diagnose VUR, VCUG is usually the criterion standard in
diagnosis of VUR as it gives precise anatomic details and allows grading of the reflux. While solely
abdominal ultrasound can be false negative in many circumstances. Therefore, VCUG is chosen as the
initial workup in this scenario.
MCUG requires little patient preparation. An older child may be asked to empty their bladder before
the examination starts. Patient is usually placed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

without causing any dilation. In grade 3 the ureter and renal pelvis are moderately dilated and/or
tortuous, but no or minimal blunting of the fornices should be observed. The dilation and tortuosity of
the ureter and renal pelvis becomes more severe in grade 4, while the sharp angles of the fornices are
obliterated but papillary impressions are preserved. Grade 5 describes severely dilated and tortuous
ureter, pelvis and calyces; loss of papillary impressions is observed in most calyces. The radiologic

Should Welfare Subsidies be limited to only the Social Security System? Social programs for aiding
the needs of the U.S. population are called welfare subsidies. Federal social programs were first
proposed with Theodore Roosevelt s New Nationalism, and expanded during the Wilson, Roosevelt,
and Johnson Administrations. There are eighty three overlapping federal programs which vary in
eligibility requirements. They help provide food, shelter, healthcare, education and money to
American citizens. These services are provided through primary and secondary education, subsidies of
college education, pensions for eligible persons, subsidies for eligible low wage workers, subsidies for
housing, unemployment disability insurance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits,
subsidies for housing, and health insurance programs that cover public employees. The largest and
most prominent welfare subsidy is the Social Security Program and the second largest is Medicare.
Aside from Medicare and Social Security, Congress allocated $717 billion to welfare subsidies in
2010. That same year, states allocated $210 billion. The total allocations for Social Security and
Medicare were $1.3 trillion in 2013, which was 37% of the total Federal expenditure budget of $3.684
trillion. Aside from government welfare programs, private welfare is about 1.6 trillion, about ten
percent of the total US GDP. As part of the

The Philippines Of Martial Law In The Philippines
Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law in the Philippines in 1972. The implementation allowed the
military to have the highest authority in the country along with the President and allowed thousands of
Filipino s rights to be abused. It ended after 21 years when Marcos finally was ousted out of office.
Bangsa Moro refers to the 13 ethno linguistic Muslim tribes in the Philippines. They composed 1/4th
of the population in Mindanao. Though each tribe differs in traditions, culture, and dialects, they all
share the same religion of Islam. The Moro People are divided in three main groups which are the
Maguindanaons, the Tausogs and the Maranaos. Each group and tribe commonly face the struggle for
self determination. Starting from the Spanish colonization, as Christianization spread through the
country, Islamic advancement completely stopped and prejudices against Muslims began in the
Philippines. During the American colonization, they declared the entire country as independent while
annexing Mindanao. These showcase that since the beginning of Philippine history, the Moro people
have been oppressed by the different ruling bodies of the nation. The implementation of Martial Law
in 1972 worsened the situation when the military attacked Mindanao which sparked the war between
the Muslim rebels and the government. Now many Moro people are bombed out of their homes due to
the current proclamation of Martial Law in Mindanao. In the early 70s, several massacres

Family Entertainment Center ( Hffec )
Havn Fun Family Entertainment Center (HFFEC) is in the industry of Family Entertainment Centers
also known as FECs. Family entertainment is a very profitable business because families are always
looking for affordable local facilities to enjoy their time together. We want to help restore the broken
bond between families caused by many outside forces, the busyness of life, and common distractions
that drive them apart. We plan to make fun cool again. Starting out in Beaumont, Texas we have the
advantage of entering into a place where strong family values are important. As a child growing up in
this city I remember there were many places to go to have fun. Places like Putt Putt Golf, a skating
rink that was off Highway 105 where after the skating stopped at midnight it would turn into a dance
floor where people could dance, mingle, have good clean fun until they closing time. There were also
a small amusement park with children s amusement park, rides and games. There was also a Go Kart
riding place for families to just ride around the track laughing and smiling. After moving away from
Beaumont, I moved into bigger cities where I saw family fun on a greater level. Visiting six Flags in
Atlanta introduced me to plenty of fun, excitement, and amusement on a grand scale.
We want to bring that same kind of family oriented fun, love, and excitement to the city of Beaumont.

daughter the success and recognition in life. This wish was granted and fulfilled by Almighty. As a

Risk Assessment And Mitigation Plan
Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan: Initial Draft The purpose of a risk assessment plan, and
especially this one in particular, is to analyze the threats or dangers to the Defense Logistics
Information Service, which is the largest logistics combat support agency for the Department of
Defense. A proper risk assessment plan is vital to protect both the information we store for the
military, as well as the troops and civilians that would be in danger should this data be compromised.
Assets at risk include our own personnel as well as troops both deployed and in reserve, physical
equipment, and the data we create and store on a consistent basis. The boundaries for the plan will set
the borders for what the risk assessment will cover. For example, this risk assessment will not cover
how to mitigate the threats to our organization. It will only assess the assets at risk, and the threat to
those assets. Risk mitigation and management will be covered in a different section. There are
different approaches that can be taken when assessing risk. We can use quantitative methods, which
deal in exact dollar amounts and figures. Quantitative methods are more concrete, but take longer to
assess due to all the factors involved. This method would be more accurate at determining losses for
our company which deals in information. You also have qualitative methods, which are more
subjective and deal with assigning ratings. For example, you could have a risk rating system with
values of

Opportunity Commercial Bank s (GOCB) renewed strategy to be the bank of choice in terms of
consumer banking. To be able to finance this new strategy and to aggressively revive our bank, GOCB

A number of branches were increased to 30 from 10, which are located in the various areas of Metro
Manila, Cebu, Davao, Naga, and Baguio City. GOCB eventually became a highly tradable publicly
held company.
In his desire to further increase its revenues at approximately 300%, he sought new opportunities. The
bank teamed up with GRC and entered into a guarantee agreement with the Home Guaranty
Corporation (HGC) for the securitization of P5.8 billion worth of housing loans. The guaranty
program aimed to liquefy through the asset backed securitization (ABS) ranging from P10,000 to 1.0
M, with a yield of 15% per annum paid quarterly and a term of five years. This strategy met with great
success for 6 straight years of record increases in profits. In 2006, GOCB was highly leveraged with
as high as 85 percent. However, it managed to lower the debt ratio to 60 percent to retain shareholder
confidence and ensure the bank s eligibility for a B bond rating. Strong reputable brand name,
financial strength, and a strategic fit were the three key ingredients why the GOCB s 10 million shares
had market value of P250 each which is 10 times the net income per share. This further boosted its
market position to hold the top 20 spot with a total resource base of P35 billion as of December 2007,
which comprised of 10% of the entire banking industry s total resources.

The Air National Guard And Part Of The 176th Wing
I am in the Air National Guard and part of the 176th Wing. The two primary missions of the 176th

missions as well as state missions. My organization does not seek a profit but we do have competitors

from our civilian and military competitors within the state concerning civil search and rescue (Grant

Analysis Of Terry Gilliam s The Season Of This...
Tis the season in this dystopia, controlled by pitiless bureaucrats and synergetic police. Terry Gilliam s
Brazil depicts a retro futuristic setting dominated by a relentless totalitarian system. The setting of
Brazil takes place during Christmas in an urban region that is never characterized by name but by its
contents. The civilization presented in the film is distasteful, naive, lifeless, and overseen. Uninspiring
infrastructure, apathetic socializations, and lack of sanctuaries illustrates this society and it seems to
be an intended tactic by its government. Bulky grey ducts surround the environment, which could be a

Observation can be made on a macro and micro scale, as behavior of a large group can affect the
behavior of individuals (Merton, 1938). In Brazil, society is regulated and positioned a certain way
that satisfies its government. Reaching a desirable achieved status seems hard to accomplish and only
possible if conformed to the Ministry s regime. Sam, however, was offered a promotion by the master
status himself, Mr. Helpmann. Seemingly, Sam s promotion offer was possible because of his ascribed
status being the son of Mr. Helpmann s former co worker and his power hungry mother s connection
with the Ministry. The social institution in the world of Brazil is centralized to abide the Ministry, who
targets society to be uniformed and consumers. Considering the Consumers for Christ signs and the
girls who wishes to Santa for her own credit card , there is an encompassing feeling of consumerism
that citizens believe as holy. Displays of Tönnies Gesellschaft are frequent, as social control must rest
on more formal techniques, such as laws and legally defined punishments (Schaefer, 2013). Behaviors
of the people are carried with the subconscious awareness of the Ministry, hence the lack of
individualism and expectation of carrying out usual social roles and norms. Any employee of the
Ministry of Information is ironically given a badge, similar to law enforcement which speaks to the

were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes
to eating and purchasing healthy food.
Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that
consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this
was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a
healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel as
though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most interesting
thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that organic food
was a healthier option as compared to non organic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the fact that consumers had mixed opinions on the healthiness of organic food, we decided that
creating a quantitative research survey would serve as a good opportunity to find more information on
this topic. Our hypothesis was that organic food is perceived as a healthier option when comparing it
non organic food, indicating that consumers are willing to pay more organic products. Ultimately, our
research question and hypothesis relates to healthy eating as it illustrates how some consumers feel
eating organic food is heathier, while some consumers feel that eating organic food isn t any healthier

The Science Of Space Probes
Space probes are our doorway to the rest of our solar system, allowing us to find new information
about our universe. Space probes travel to other planets, moons, comets, and any other body in space.
Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are also traveling outside of our solar system in order to further explore. As
the space probes travel, and once they reach their destination, they constantly measure the
environment around them with extremely interesting scientific instruments. Many space probes have
been launched by NASA, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and each one has
different equipment based on what is intended to be studied. Five extremely interesting space probes

sunlight reflected by a body. All of these scientific instruments helped the voyagers study the outer

Regionalism And Realism In A Wagner Matinee By Willa Cather
Why would an author write a detailed work of a character stuck confronting a moral dilemma, rather
than that of an imaginary like story? Industrialization had many cons, but started the evolution
towards the Realistic Era in literature. Realism influenced many authors styles of writing in the span
of the era, because of the honesty it generated. To name a Realist author: Willa Cather, who wrote A
Wagner Matinee focused on a different type of Realism, Regionalism. The literature of the Realistic
Era emphasized the world s problems at the time through the characters thoughts and feelings.
The Industrial Revolution started towards the end of the 18th century and brought Realism with it. As
the Library of Congress indicates, the Industrial Revolution began in Britain, but moved to the United
States, and with it brought new transportation, manufacturing, and communications. Less self
sufficient family homes came to be as factories began popping up around the country... this meant the
expansion of resources and trade for the U.S. Problems like child labor, minuscule wages, dangerous
working conditions, and atrocious living conditions were created leading to the Progressive Era(N.D.).
As observed by the University of Georgia (2015), the problems caused by the Industrial Revolution
would be addressed by reforms. States tried to eliminate too much child labor by applying laws on
schooling hours for children. Also, they created new Boards of Health in order to fix all the

New Zealand Is An Export Driven Competitive Economy Essay
Problem statement
New Zealand is an export driven competitive economy with exports accounting for about 30% of
GDP, one of the primary indicators used to gauge the health of a country s economy. Auckland Airport
handles 85% of air cargo exported from New Zealand, making it a hub for businesses which conduct
trade.
These businesses want to know whether New Zealand s economy is continuing to benefit from these
exports. I predict that this is true due to the high OEC ranking of New Zealand, which indicated
economic complexity. The question that must then be posed is: What is the long term trend in exports
from Auckland Airport? This question is of interest to businesses and consumers alike because
international trade affects the price of domestic goods due to changes in supply and demand.
An investigation will be carried out into the export of goods coming from Auckland Airport to
investigate and analyse trends and to make a forecast. Further investigation into both imports and
exports were also conducted to gauge the economic situation of New Zealand. The data provided is
sourced from Statistics New Zealand Infoshare, recorded from 1988 to 2015 and records quarterly
gross weight of exports in tonnes.
Plan
Using the data provided, I will use NZ Grapher to plot a time series and a decomposition on Auckland
Airport Exports from 1988 to 2015. The data will be interpreted taking into account the raw data,
trend, residuals, and seasonal effect. A forecast will be made using the

How Did The Jamestown Colonies Lead To The Failure Of The...
Adventure, promises of wealth, and an opportunity to a new life were some of the many reasons which
attracted settlers to the Americas. However, what the new settlers did not know were the many
challenges and tragedies this new life entailed. Despite all, the colonists of Jamestown would
encounter the difficulties of starting a new colony in a foreign new land. The life these settlers found
was nothing like they expected. Their hopes for wealth and a new beginning were soon replaced with
death and misery. The colonies of the Americas can be seen as a failure because European settlers
would come to experience the horrors that the New World would give them including famine and
diseases.
Before even being constructed, colonies had already been set for failure as many colonists did not
properly prepare for the journey. Many did not have enough supplies to sustain a stable colony and
prevent its people from starving. In a letter that Richard Frethorne wrote to his parents he portrays the
poor nourishment settlers received when he says ...for since I came out of the ship I never ate anything
but peas, and loblollie. Lack of agricultural, geographical, and survival knowledge and the fact of
being in a new land prevented settlers from successfully growing crops and maintaining a steady food
supply to their colonies. Jamestown, was a settlement which was greatly impacted by the failure of
gathering food for its settlers. The colonists of Jamestown were mainly dying off of famine

A Polar Disorder Is A Serious Mental Affliction
Bi Polar Disorder is a serious mental affliction that has been and is being neglected severely. It is one
of those illness that can change someone s life drastically. It is important to know the history of it, how
it s diagnosed, how it s treated, and what are the signs that someone needs help. Bringing awareness to
this affliction may prevent someone s harm or death, or better yet allow someone to know when they
need help. Manic Depression Illness, or Bi Polar Disorder as we know it, was said to have been
officially discussed as a disorder in a lecture given by French psychiatrist and neurologist Jules
Gabriel Francois Baillarger. He described it as la folie á double forme , or the dual form insanity. This
term fit perfectly seeing as in earlier medical journals from almost every ancient culture, for example:
the Greeks, they mention patience suffering from both mania and melancholia. The first and earliest
official standard diagnosis, however, came from a different French physician and psychiatrist named
Jean Pierre Falret. Falret published an article describing the disorder as la folie circulaire , or the
circular depression. Although Falret was published first, both theories came around in the 1850s. Bi
Polar disorder is a mental illness characterized by alternating periods of elation, depression, and/or
anger. Although there is no definite cause, there are many things that can trigger or activate it. One of

Lucid Dreaming Essays
Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming is: dreaming while aware that you are dreaming. Webster s definition of lucidity
continues with clearness of thought or style and a presumed capacity to perceive the truth directly and
instantaneously . In this sense, lucid dreaming is associated with controlling one s dreams as they are
happening. It is a term that was coined by Frederik van Eeden in the Proceedings of the Society for
Psychical Research, Vol. 26, 1913:
I can only say that I made my observations during normal deep and healthy sleep, and that in 352
cases, I had full recollection of my day life and could act voluntarily, though I was so fast asleep that

What is the cause of these different levels of rationality among dreaming? The current thought is
indicating that that there is a lack of understanding about what is and what is not appropriate to the
time and place of the dreamworld (Levitan, A Fool s Guide to Lucid Dreaming , 1994). This theory
postulates that while absurdity is inherent in dreams, lack of practice in dream manipulation can cause
the dreamer to confront ideas that may cause the dreamer to lose control of lucidity. This lack of
understanding may cause the dreamer to misinterpret the dream and to have moments of self doubt.
There are three main situations that tend to initiate loss of control and rationality in a dream: Being
afraid of physical harm; Being afraid of social consequences; Thinking that another dream character is
really there. All of these pitfalls can inhibit a dreamer from achieving a higher state of lucidity in his
dreams.
Why Would You Want to Have Lucid Dreams?
There are many reasons that people will want to have lucid dreams. The first desire for a lucid dream
comes from the pleasure and excitement of being able to control one s dreams and achieve actions that
are not possible. The most common of these dreams is the ability to fly, the

the enticing change of the artworks. The idea of change simply gives artists a way to express
themselves, not only for attracting the eye to unique wonders in the world that occurred, but to also

Yet the kouroi, which is a style made during the archaic period, reveal further realism, obviously
depicting that the human structure was more important than the overall events that took place during
this period of ancient greek art. The kouros, plural for kouroi, was the depiction of young men, going
from the basic to those that were almost exact demonstrations. These stylistic depictions were used to
indicate feelings and emotions using figurative gestures. For example, Apollo, a god in Ancient Greek
art, compatible with many sculptures of the perpetual youth known as the kouroi, is rendered across
the Archaic period showing the deified male physique, constructed on orders of segments and
symbolizing the ability of somatic allure. The artists that created the sculpture of Apollo really put
emphasis on the figurative gesture of the torso and arms, revealing a sentimental posture of what he
stands for as an idealistic god. Although Apollo expressed the advancement of the likeness of human
composition throughout the archaic stage, the young male kouros were not soldiers, they were
emblematics of the worshiper that were contributing a more indefinite and inaudible assistance to a
god.The idea the artist had was to not only show off the ideal male form, but to also allow for a
sculpture that in a way represented no other than a mere mortal , for those who saw the figure as an
enticing change to the span of time, where beauty and figurative emotion of the perfect male

Boxing
Roberto Hands of Stone Duran once said: Getting hit motivates me. It makes me punish the guy more.
A fighter takes a punch, hits back with three punches. Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in
boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and
successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical
condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone,
cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength.
One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t
create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By
punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other
sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make
them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in
having well toned muscles. By boxing, bones gain power and size; therefore, the proportions of
muscles are affected in a positive way. When bones get stronger, muscles ... Show more content on

By punching and moving the hips, arms and legs constantly gain power and endurance. The oblique,

clearly demonstrates how boxing improves strength in a very good way and how it involves a vast
quantity of muscles. One of boxing´s best attributes is giving the ability to defend yourself. It properly
teaches how to block a punch, dodge a strike, and hit properly. Because of this, you will be able to

Many say reject the reason that it wasn t their fault. All the reasons so far all lead up to not being
educated about what they can do about the problem that is more productive and does not affect the
animal s health and does not affect the society. That is one of the reasons to be educated to be aware of
the problem and approach it at the right angle to solve it. According to prime.peta.org, One of the
reasons that does stick out is because of cruelty which is big but not a very important one since it can
be solved easily by an education. The reason for abandonment is spayment and nurturing. When an
animal is spayed or neutered, it is unable to create puppies/kittens. However, this is not considered a
bad thing to not have your dog/cat not have babies. When people want a lot of cute puppies, they get a
couple but then they want a lot more. So they have their dog make more babies and create a large
litter. Most people do not realize what they are doing, they are giving birth to more puppies than they
can handle. And once they realize that their are too many they usually keep the cuter ones and
abandon the other ones. Or, sometimes they give them to someone else they just buy another dog
instead of adopting dogs like them who have been given up or abandoned. So far this shows that

Taking a look at the Great Depression
Great Depression
The great depression was one of the worst disasters that occurred in U.S history. October 29, 1929, is
the day the stock market crashed, and that day was the beginning of The Great Depression . Many US
citizens suffered through this depression, children couldn t go to school because their parents couldn t
afford to buy school supplies, and children had to work at a young age. Families lost their homes to
the bank and they were forced to create homes out of driftwood, cardboard, or even newspapers. The
U.S blamed The Great Depression on President Herbert Hoover; they actually named a small town
after him. President Roosevelt was a hero to the US; it s because of him that the US had a major
turnaround. It was untimely the entrance of the U.S into WW2 that ended The Great Depression in the
United States. Moreover, President Roosevelt is the reason why the U.S not in the Great Depression
anymore.
The Great Depression did not only affect children and parents. It also affected farmers a lot; farmers
were usually safe form a depression because they were able to feed themselves. However, during The
Great Depression, the Great Plains got it bad. The Great Plains were hit hard by enormous dust
storms. The dust storms destroyed everything in their path, leaving farmers with nothing but loose
grass and no crops. When the dust storms eradicated the crops, the farmers were unable to feed their
families and on top of that, they were

  • 2. Confederation In 1865 1. The first major reason of confederation was the threat of an American takeover. From 1861 to 1865, a Civil War occurred in America between Northern states fighting the Southern states. The issue was whether North and South should remain united or whether the South would separate. Canada became involved in the tension in 1864. A group of Southern soldiers raided the village of St Albans in Vermont, a Northern state. They robbed banks, set houses on fire, and then dashed across the border into Canada to escape. The Northern state saw this incident as evidence that Canada was hostile to the North cause. When North won the Civil War in 1865, Canadians really began to worry; they wondered whether North would now turn its armies on them. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new organized commerce law is horrendous for us! We can no more make a benefit by exchanging with the Americans, and the greater part of our trench frameworks and flour plants are no more use to us! We have no benefit! We require assets from different states! Americans Here are some alternate points of view and responses of the new organized commerce law, expressing that Britain would permit merchandise from any nation without duty. The new unhindered commerce law is incredible for us! We can now openly exchange with Great Britain for no assessment, and make a considerably more prominent benefit! • 3. Wiz Khalifa Biography When I heard about the band, Artic Rush, on their tour called, Freeze the World, I was immediately intrigued. I then made my way to Seattle, WA on June 20, 2016, to see if band was all it s cracked up to be. The first thing I noticed multiple different was the tickets were an extraordinary price of only $75! That is outrageously cheap for the quality of the show. The lead singer, Jimmy Buffet has an amazing voice with multiple personalities shown in the different songs. On the guitar is Wiz Khalifa who has many electrifying solos and plays with fire in his heart. The keyboardist, Drake, doesn t get much credit but in the background of each song you can clearly hear his smooth keyboard style played with perfection. Kanye West also has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The great thing was there was snow in June! That created an amazing experience that will certainly not be forgotten. The band then performed their big hit known across the nation called, A Touch of Ice. The atmosphere during the show had me electrified and made me get on my feet. The most memorable part to me was when Wiz Khalifa froze the crowd with his outstanding guitar solo. The next song entitled, Icy Roads, was a song that Jimmy Buffet really sung his heart out. It was a slower song than, A Touch of Ice, with a whole different, smooth style. Lasers, lasers, lasers! While the song went on, there was an eye grabbing laser show! The crowd would see lasers of all colors, glistening across the arena! Unfortunately, during the show, one of the speakers died, freezing all action. That was the only disappointing thing to me, and if they make sure that doesn t happen again, the show will be perfect! After the show Drake told reporters, I feel like we played our hearts out on the stage. There are still people who deserve just as much praise as we do and they are the people backstage. They make sure the effects and everything are perfect for us to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparing Donn Rosen And Skepticism Making a list of assumptions that inhibit scientific progress (Rosen 2016), especially when the assumptions are mostly long held and cherished beliefs by many in comparative biology, identified Donn Rosen as a skeptic. Skepticism has a long, storied, and varied history, which I am not going to recount, but I can probably be safe to define skepticism as a philosophical view that raises doubts about the adequacy or reliability of the evidence that could be offered to justify any proposition (Popkin 2003). Now the kind of doubts, the kind of adequacy, the kind of evidence, and the kind of justification associated with schools of skepticism vary widely, but suffice to say the general feel of the definition covers most forms. The goal of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rosen was not a formal skeptic in that he did not devise approaches or arguments to detect when evidences or beliefs did not support knowledge claims. I argue he was a skeptic in that he voiced concerns, doubts, about apparent evidence that supposedly supported particular beliefs, ideas, or dogmas. So his skepticism was based on evidence, on his conclusions that observation did not match theory, regardless of how dearly the theory was held by others. What Rosen certainly was not, was a denier. As in the individual that simply denies something without regard to evidence, an evolution of life did not happen type of denier. Rosen was lumped into the pattern cladist school that was characterized by Beatty (1982) as being antievolution (Carpenter 1987), thus possibly considered a denier. Brady (1982), among many others (e.g. Patterson 1982; Platnick 1982, Carpenter, 1987) rescued pattern cladistics from the misinterpretation of Beatty. Regardless, if we are stuck with the assumption that the evolution of life followed a strictly neo Darwinian process, then what other ideas are left to explore when inconsistencies crop up? That was Rosen s position as a skeptic, asking can we do cladistics without a neo darwinian covering theory? And so, we see that as his inhibiting assumption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. African American Child Segregation Essay Segregation and discrimination have brought traumatic distress to the black community as it is still evident in today s society.Though it is illegal to segregate others because of their racial background or religion, the terror of this act is just the same as it was when it was legal. Upon discovery about their ancestor s past, African American children unconsciously strip any positive perspective they have of themselves which eventually passes on to others around them. A study done by Psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark in the 1940 s was done in order to test the effects segregation has on African American children. A set of 4 almost identical dolls, different in color, were placed before a group of 3 7 year old children. The question which doll do you prefer and why? was asked which most children chose the white doll. Additional to their responses, the children would associate positive comments ... The novel is set in a small Belgian city, a city with a considerable network of canals and bridges and boulevards that all look the same; throughout the novel, the city becomes a type of labyrinth, adding an ambiguous complexity of space to the novel s non linear chronology. The Erasers is more accessible than his later novels like Jealousy and In The Labyrinth , both penultimate examples of the New Novel. The erratic chronology, suggested symbols, circular repetitions, and stylized description deconstruct time and space in these novels forcing the reader to reconstruct the plot. These writerly texts transport readers to complex fictional, hence illusory, universes. The visual nature of Robbe Grillet s books continue in his later novels, of which the collaborative novel La Belle Captive , a novel written by Robbe Grillet with paintings and illustrations by the surrealist René Margritte, is a perfect example where art informs art and the two mediums color the reading of each other. Recently, in 1995, Robbe Grillet finished a trilogy: a fictional autobiography. Embracing the vogue genre of the autobiography and foregrounding its inherently subjective nature, Robbe Grillet continues to brave the edge of his art in the same spirit of innovation that has marked all his work. With the Elders continually being overtaxed with duties, this slowly transitioned to recruited lay men. Criteria in hand, I developed a multiple month strategy aimed at attracting new members. Past precedent and best practices with volunteers indicated that that simply putting out bulletin messages was not an effective recruitment tool. Thus, our team s first step was the initiation of several face to face challenges to people we knew to consider the ministry. I believe this attempt failed due in part to most of the people that we knew were either already engaged in other ministries, or did not wish to join one. The next phases included requesting the Small Group Ministry to alert their Group Leaders of the opportunity to serve the Church; both individually and/or as a small group. This was closely followed by a similar request to both the Men s, Women s, and High School /Middle School Youth ministries. I requested that if they were willing to get the word out to us to please make it an in person and personal appeal at their meetings (again, because general we need help emails tend to be ineffective). Safwan Siddiqi Mr. Williams AP Government and Politics, Period 2 March 28, 2015 Should Welfare Subsidies be limited to only the Social Security System? Social programs for aiding the needs of the U.S. population are called welfare subsidies. Federal social programs were first proposed with Theodore Roosevelt s New Nationalism, and expanded during the Wilson, Roosevelt, and Johnson Administrations. There are eighty three overlapping federal programs which vary in eligibility requirements. They help provide food, shelter, healthcare, education and money to American citizens. These services are provided through primary and secondary education, subsidies of college education, pensions for eligible persons, subsidies for eligible low wage workers, subsidies for housing, unemployment disability insurance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, subsidies for housing, and health insurance programs that cover public employees. The largest and most prominent welfare subsidy is the Social Security Program and the second largest is Medicare. Aside from Medicare and Social Security, Congress allocated $717 billion to welfare subsidies in 2010. That same year, states allocated $210 billion. The total allocations for Social Security and Medicare were $1.3 trillion in 2013, which was 37% of the total Federal expenditure budget of $3.684 trillion. The implementation allowed the military to have the highest authority in the country along with the President and allowed thousands of Filipino s rights to be abused. Risk Assessment And Mitigation Plan Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan: Initial Draft The purpose of a risk assessment plan, and especially this one in particular, is to analyze the threats or dangers to the Defense Logistics Information Service, which is the largest logistics combat support agency for the Department of Defense. A proper risk assessment plan is vital to protect both the information we store for the military, as well as the troops and civilians that would be in danger should this data be compromised. Assets at risk include our own personnel as well as troops both deployed and in reserve, physical equipment, and the data we create and store on a consistent basis. The boundaries for the plan will set the borders for what the risk assessment will cover. For example, this risk assessment will not cover how to mitigate the threats to our organization. It will only assess the assets at risk, and the threat to those assets. Risk mitigation and management will be covered in a different section. There are different approaches that can be taken when assessing risk. We can use quantitative methods, which deal in exact dollar amounts and figures. Quantitative methods are more concrete, but take longer to assess due to all the factors involved. This method would be more accurate at determining losses for our company which deals in information. After analyzing the results of the survey, we were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes to eating and purchasing healthy food. Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a healthier option than the cupcake. • 24. Regionalism And Realism In A Wagner Matinee By Willa Cather Why would an author write a detailed work of a character stuck confronting a moral dilemma, rather than that of an imaginary like story? Industrialization had many cons, but started the evolution towards the Realistic Era in literature. Realism influenced many authors styles of writing in the span of the era, because of the honesty it generated. To name a Realist author: Willa Cather, who wrote A Wagner Matinee focused on a different type of Realism, Regionalism. The literature of the Realistic Era emphasized the world s problems at the time through the characters thoughts and feelings. The Industrial Revolution started towards the end of the 18th century and brought Realism with it. As the Library of Congress indicates, the Industrial Revolution began in Britain, but moved to the United States, and with it brought new transportation, manufacturing, and communications. Less self sufficient family homes came to be as factories began popping up around the country... this meant the expansion of resources and trade for the U.S. Problems like child labor, minuscule wages, dangerous working conditions, and atrocious living conditions were created leading to the Progressive Era(N.D.). As observed by the University of Georgia (2015), the problems caused by the Industrial Revolution would be addressed by reforms. States tried to eliminate too much child labor by applying laws on schooling hours for children. Also, they created new Boards of Health in order to fix all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. New Zealand Is An Export Driven Competitive Economy Essay Problem statement New Zealand is an export driven competitive economy with exports accounting for about 30% of GDP, one of the primary indicators used to gauge the health of a country s economy. Auckland Airport handles 85% of air cargo exported from New Zealand, making it a hub for businesses which conduct trade. These businesses want to know whether New Zealand s economy is continuing to benefit from these exports. I predict that this is true due to the high OEC ranking of New Zealand, which indicated economic complexity. The question that must then be posed is: What is the long term trend in exports from Auckland Airport? This question is of interest to businesses and consumers alike because international trade affects the price of domestic goods due to changes in supply and demand. An investigation will be carried out into the export of goods coming from Auckland Airport to investigate and analyse trends and to make a forecast. Further investigation into both imports and exports were also conducted to gauge the economic situation of New Zealand. The data provided is sourced from Statistics New Zealand Infoshare, recorded from 1988 to 2015 and records quarterly gross weight of exports in tonnes. Plan Using the data provided, I will use NZ Grapher to plot a time series and a decomposition on Auckland Airport Exports from 1988 to 2015. The data will be interpreted taking into account the raw data, trend, residuals, and seasonal effect. A forecast will be made using the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. How Did The Jamestown Colonies Lead To The Failure Of The... Adventure, promises of wealth, and an opportunity to a new life were some of the many reasons which attracted settlers to the Americas. However, what the new settlers did not know were the many challenges and tragedies this new life entailed. Despite all, the colonists of Jamestown would encounter the difficulties of starting a new colony in a foreign new land. The life these settlers found was nothing like they expected. Their hopes for wealth and a new beginning were soon replaced with death and misery. The colonies of the Americas can be seen as a failure because European settlers would come to experience the horrors that the New World would give them including famine and diseases. Before even being constructed, colonies had already been set for failure as many colonists did not properly prepare for the journey. Many did not have enough supplies to sustain a stable colony and prevent its people from starving. In a letter that Richard Frethorne wrote to his parents he portrays the poor nourishment settlers received when he says ...for since I came out of the ship I never ate anything but peas, and loblollie. Lack of agricultural, geographical, and survival knowledge and the fact of being in a new land prevented settlers from successfully growing crops and maintaining a steady food supply to their colonies. • 30. A Polar Disorder Is A Serious Mental Affliction Bi Polar Disorder is a serious mental affliction that has been and is being neglected severely. It is one of those illness that can change someone s life drastically. It is important to know the history of it, how it s diagnosed, how it s treated, and what are the signs that someone needs help. Bringing awareness to this affliction may prevent someone s harm or death, or better yet allow someone to know when they need help. Manic Depression Illness, or Bi Polar Disorder as we know it, was said to have been officially discussed as a disorder in a lecture given by French psychiatrist and neurologist Jules Gabriel Francois Baillarger. He described it as la folie á double forme , or the dual form insanity. This term fit perfectly seeing as in earlier medical journals from almost every ancient culture, for example: the Greeks, they mention patience suffering from both mania and melancholia. The first and earliest official standard diagnosis, however, came from a different French physician and psychiatrist named Jean Pierre Falret. Falret published an article describing the disorder as la folie circulaire , or the circular depression. Although Falret was published first, both theories came around in the 1850s. Bi Polar disorder is a mental illness characterized by alternating periods of elation, depression, and/or anger. Webster s definition of lucidity continues with clearness of thought or style and a presumed capacity to perceive the truth directly and instantaneously . In this sense, lucid dreaming is associated with controlling one s dreams as they are happening. It is a term that was coined by Frederik van Eeden in the Proceedings of the Society for Psychical Research, Vol. 26, 1913: I can only say that I made my observations during normal deep and healthy sleep, and that in 352 cases, I had full recollection of my day life and could act voluntarily, though I was so fast asleep that no bodily sensations penetrated my perception. The current thought is indicating that that there is a lack of understanding about what is and what is not appropriate to the time and place of the dreamworld (Levitan, A Fool s Guide to Lucid Dreaming , 1994). This theory postulates that while absurdity is inherent in dreams, lack of practice in dream manipulation can cause the dreamer to confront ideas that may cause the dreamer to lose control of lucidity. This lack of understanding may cause the dreamer to misinterpret the dream and to have moments of self doubt. There are three main situations that tend to initiate loss of control and rationality in a dream: Being afraid of physical harm; Being afraid of social consequences; Thinking that another dream character is really there. All of these pitfalls can inhibit a dreamer from achieving a higher state of lucidity in his dreams. Why Would You Want to Have Lucid Dreams? There are many reasons that people will want to have lucid dreams. The first desire for a lucid dream comes from the pleasure and excitement of being able to control one s dreams and achieve actions that are not possible. The most common of these dreams is the ability to fly, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet the kouroi, which is a style made during the archaic period, reveal further realism, obviously depicting that the human structure was more important than the overall events that took place during this period of ancient greek art. The kouros, plural for kouroi, was the depiction of young men, going from the basic to those that were almost exact demonstrations. These stylistic depictions were used to indicate feelings and emotions using figurative gestures. For example, Apollo, a god in Ancient Greek art, compatible with many sculptures of the perpetual youth known as the kouroi, is rendered across the Archaic period showing the deified male physique, constructed on orders of segments and symbolizing the ability of somatic allure. The artists that created the sculpture of Apollo really put emphasis on the figurative gesture of the torso and arms, revealing a sentimental posture of what he stands for as an idealistic god. Although Apollo expressed the advancement of the likeness of human composition throughout the archaic stage, the young male kouros were not soldiers, they were emblematics of the worshiper that were contributing a more indefinite and inaudible assistance to a god.The idea the artist had was to not only show off the ideal male form, but to also allow for a sculpture that in a way represented no other than a mere mortal , for those who saw the figure as an enticing change to the span of time, where beauty and figurative emotion of the perfect male configuration meant alot to people during the archaic period of ancient greek ... Duran represents one of the hardest punchers in boxing history, and the best middleweight that has ever fought. He is one of the most experienced and successful boxers inside and outside of the ring. Boxing is a sport that provides excellent physical condition, because its high intensity exercises all muscles at the same time. It increases muscular tone, cardiovascular capacity and overall body strength. One of the principal benefits of boxing is the capacity to increase muscular tone. Boxing doesn t create bulky muscles, instead it provides well toned muscles due to the constant movement. By punching and moving around, muscles are exercised at all times, which is very different from other sports where only one muscle is exercised at a time. Exercising all muscles at once does not make them bigger, it makes them healthy and able to develop properly. Bones also play an important role in having well toned muscles. According to prime.peta.org, One of the reasons that does stick out is because of cruelty which is big but not a very important one since it can be solved easily by an education. The reason for abandonment is spayment and nurturing. When an animal is spayed or neutered, it is unable to create puppies/kittens. However, this is not considered a bad thing to not have your dog/cat not have babies. When people want a lot of cute puppies, they get a couple but then they want a lot more. So they have their dog make more babies and create a large litter. Most people do not realize what they are doing, they are giving birth to more puppies than they can handle. And once they realize that their are too many they usually keep the cuter ones and abandon the other ones. Many US citizens suffered through this depression, children couldn t go to school because their parents couldn t afford to buy school supplies, and children had to work at a young age. Families lost their homes to the bank and they were forced to create homes out of driftwood, cardboard, or even newspapers. The U.S blamed The Great Depression on President Herbert Hoover; they actually named a small town after him. President Roosevelt was a hero to the US; it s because of him that the US had a major turnaround. It was untimely the entrance of the U.S into WW2 that ended The Great Depression in the United States. Moreover, President Roosevelt is the reason why the U.S not in the Great Depression anymore.
