2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake Essay
The 9.0 magnitude Indian Ocean earthquake was caused by subduction under the Indian Ocean.
Earthquakes are usually caused by convection currents leading to subduction/convergent currents.
Convection currents is caused by magma rising from the deepest part of the earth, then slowly
cooling, sinking again then re heating, then rising upwards basically repeating the rising and
cooling then re heating cycle over and over again. The plates are separated from each other and they
move apart, the plates then obviously hit another plate right next to it causing subduction. This
earthquakewas caused on the Oceanic crust, in the Indian Ocean, creating tsunamis that caused
disasters and thousands of life loss throughout the Indian Ocean basin. The... Show more content on

People have a home but once the home is destroyed, there is no roof to stay under. Everything
such as money and belongings will be all gone meaning everyone will have to start over. People
would become greedy and criminal like since no one has anything left. If people see things that
are valuable, people will fight and argue to win that valuable thing causing war leading to death.
Everyone will starve because of hunger. No one will have the utensils and time to cook. If there
were things to cook with, there will be no crops or animals left to cook/eat. In conclusion, natural
disasters have a huge effect to the environment and people. War will start since everything would be
extremely valuable, everyone will fight to get what they need and want.
Preparation and/or recovery from your disaster:
To reduce the damage that earthquakes create, people construct buildings that are stable. Japan is
where there are lots of earthquakes but their buildings don t collapse. Japanese pagodas are five
stories. The pagodas are held up by a central pillar acting as the support. During earthquake s, each
floor balances independently without transmitting force to other floors.
There are other ways to improve buildings to reduce the impact of earthquakes. In some Japanese
buildings, there s a base isolation built. The Base Isolation is a system that is made of steel disks.
These steel disks are made of soft materials to soften the transmission of seismic movement from the
ground

Artler s Journey
Once upon a time, there was a carbon atom named Artler. This carbon atom started his journey as
hard wood in a pinyon tree. He stayed here for millions and millions of years. Eventually, Artler
was buried in a landslide. This eventually turned him into an atom of carbon in coal. He now
carries on with his adventure in the lithosphere of fossil fuels. Artler is now living his life happily
as a piece of coalin the lithosphere. He has been here for millions of years once again, just like
with the pinyon tree. As a piece of coal, Artler was burned in a stove to warm a nice happy family.
Now, Artler is becoming carbonin the form of CO2. Finally, he will lie in the atmosphere all by
himself. For the next part of Artler s journey, he is CO2 in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Artler remains here for about 5 months. However, Artler is then used by a bacterium in order to
produce energy. Artler is now energy, and being sent back to the atmosphere. Once again, Artler
heads back to his favorite place, the atmosphere. Artler is in the atmosphere as CO2 once more.
He will remain here for about 40 years. However this time, Artler dissolved into Lake Powell.
Here, he remains a nice little happy carbon atom in the lake. Artler is now in the hydrosphere.
Here in the hydrosphere, Artler is carbon in groundwater. He remains here for hundreds of years.
Sadly, Artler precipitates out of the groundwater. Next, he becomes travertine in the ground.
Artler is nearing the end of his journey, as he now enters the lithosphere of limestone. Artler is
not just any limestone, for he is Kaibab Limestone. He remains here for millions of years.
However, sadly, he is mined in order to make cement. During this process, CO2 is released into
the atmosphere. Once more, Artler is sent up into the atmosphere. Artler is in the atmosphere for
one last final time. He remains here for about 62 years as CO2. He is finally absorbed by a plant
once more. Here, he becomes part of the plant through photosynthesis. Artler finally ends his
journey in the biosphere once more, as a

Some women claim that a part of the matter of an excessive amount of stress that comes from their

Elizabethan Influence On Romeo And Juliet
The 16th century was a time of strict religious ruling, a strong queen and respected social classes.
All of which were crucial traits about the 16th century and defined the time period, and along with
that, formed the basis of many works of William Shakespeare, a classic author. The play Romeo
and Juliet by William Shakespeare was written amidst this time and shows a great example of these
traits. More specifically, the strict religious ruling which affected live during this time period. The
information that I learned about the Elizabethan Era will influence my reading of Romeo and Juliet
because the religious status of a time can deeply affect the events that happen. The Church of
England s preference to Catholics will influence my reading

Bridging Trial Case Study
The BRIDGE trial, conducted by Douketis and associates,1 was a randomized, multicenter, double
blind, placebo controlled trial that questioned the need for anticoagulation bridging in patients with
atrial fibrillation, who are undergoing an invasive procedure that requires interruption of warfarin
therapy. The primary efficacy outcome was arterial thromboembolism, which includes stroke,
transient ischemic attack, and systemic embolism, whereas the secondary efficacy outcomes were
acute myocardial infarction, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and death. The primary
and secondary safety outcomes were major and minor bleeding, respectively. Patients eligible for
this trial must have been 18 years or older, had chronic atrial fibrillationor flutter, been on warfarin
therapy for at least 3 months, had an international normalized ratio (INR) of 2.0 to 3.0, were
undergoing an elective invasive procedure that required discontinuation of warfarin therapy, and
had at least one CHAD2 stroke risk... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The analysis also demonstrated no significant difference between the groups when it came to the
secondary outcomes: acute myocardial infarction (p=0.1), deep vein thrombosis (p=0.25),
pulmonary embolism (p=0.25), and death (p=0.88). However, the bridging group had a
significantly higher risk of major (p=0.005) and minor ( 0.001) bleeding than the placebo group.
Overall, the authors concluded that, in patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing invasive
procedures, forgoing bridging was noninferior to bridging with a low molecular weight heparin for
atrial thromboembolism prophylaxis and that there was a clinical benefit in forgoing bridging due
to the lower risk of major and minor

Roman Empire Vs Germanic Society Essay
While both Roman society and Germanic society do not view slaves as full people each society
does have some safeguards to slaves wellbeing. Although both societies try to protect their slaves
they also illustrated that slaves were not equal to free and even freed slaves were not equal.
While both societies have positive aspects to their treatment of slaves I believe it would be
better to be a slave in a Germanic society rather than a Roman society. In a Germanic society a
slave had a greater ability to marry, slaves also had the ability to pay fines for wrong doing rather
than receive physical punishment and in Germanic law codes there was more of a focus on petty
crime committed by slaves rather than in Roman codes where there was a... Show more content on

Roman law does not recognize the ability of a slave to marry. Any physical relations with a slave
in Roman law, even if consensual were not permitted, nor were family relationships among
slaves recognized by law (Civilizations 111). The inability of slaves to enjoy the normalcy of
relationships with family members or a partner shows how much more restrictive Roman
society was. It also shows that Romans viewed their slaves as less human than did Germanic
people. When slaves were being punished for crimes such as thievery or other common crimes
in Salic areas they could face very harsh physical punishment, such as lashing and castration if
male (Civilizations ). If slaves confessed to their crimes they, or more likely their owner, would
be able to pay a fine, and restore the stolen property, or value of the property, in order to prevent
physical harm as a punishment for their crime. Roman laws about crimes concerning slaves are
about punishment for killing slaves by free people, other than their owner, or maintaining slaves
loyalty to their owners (Civilizations 114). This shows that these were the problems that the
Romans were dealing with and in comparison to the Germanic problems, murdering slaves was not
just a petty crime. Laws concerning crimes committed by or against salves display that the Roman
Empire s problem was not with minor crime but with serious offenses

Social Penetration Theory Believes Relationships Can Progress
Social penetration theory believes relationships can progress from platonic to intimate through
increasing self disclosure (West Turner, 2010, pp. 168 169). During the initial stages of a
relationship, self disclosure needs to be reciprocated, in order for trust to form (Wright, 2017).
Any relationship can evolve by using social penetration theory; it is not specific to any one type of
relationship. However, talking about sensitive topics is not easy, and can lead to a person feeling
vulnerable. Consequently, it is imperative, during the initial stages of a relationship, that self
disclosure is reciprocated, in order to form trust (West Turner, 2010, pp. 168 169 Wright, 2017).
Social penetration theory predicts nonintimate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I did this because; the theories are exemplified in both interactions. For my familiar relationship, I
chose my roommate, who has also been my friend for four years. After I logged and reflected on
our conversations, I noticed I was reviewing the conversations as either a negative or a positive,
thus realizing the social exchange theory applied best to my familiar subject. However, social
penetration is exemplified when we talked about sensitive topics. Social penetration is supported
more by my unfamiliar subject, or my coworker, but social exchange is also exemplified when we
shared similar characteristics.
Social exchange theory rates interactions as either a positive or negative. Many of my
interactions between my roommate was more negative than positive. For example on, 3/21/17,
she asked for suggestions on her homework assignment because she wanted to know how to
improve it. Also, on, 3/22/17, we were debating on who should drive, despite the fact it was her
idea to go out, because she did not want to, I had to. These conversations seem trivial on the
surface, but there small examples of what I give to the friendship, with nothing in return, making
them a cost to the friendship. Another example of a cost was on, 3/25/17, we had a discussion
about profanity, because she uses profanity excessively and I rarely do. She said she wanted to
stop using as much profanity, but yet she has never made the effort to do so. Thus, each time she
uses profanity, it becomes a

Essay about The Stagecraft of Rosencrantz and...
The Stagecraft of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
...a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more...
This quote from Macbeth is a perfect summary of the plot of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are
Dead. The dramatisation of the lives of these two unremarkable and virtually extraneous characters
from Hamlet is an unlikely foundation for one of the most...engaging of post war plays (Daily
Telegraph). However, as with Samuel Beckett s absurdist play Waiting for Godot the originalityof
Stoppard s concept is not enough in itself to create a masterpiece and it is the brilliance of the
stagecraft and writing that establishes this play as a classic.

The first instance occurs after they have been ordered to find Hamlet, now a convicted murderer.
They, understandably scared, attempt to find him but after much wandering and procrastination
arrive in exactly the same place they started. A fitting punch line to the visual joke is
Guildenstern s comment Well, at last we re getting somewhere . The second example transpires
immediately afterwards when they construct a trap for Hamlet (two belts held taunt before an
entranceway) he evades this by simply walking around it and the two men enhance their folly by
saying there s a limit to what two people can do . The farcical quality of this piece of action is
mirrored later on in Act III when the Player and his troupe appear on the boat. Ros and Guil are
alerted to their presence by the now familiar pipe music and Rosencrantz is startled that the
music it is coming from three barrels on stage. As soon as the music stops the lid of the middle
barrel flies open and the Player s head pops out. He climbs out, followed by his entire company
and their instruments. This stage direction is extremely effective and droll and brings an interesting
edge to the use of space.
The actions of the other characters in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead cleverly intertwine
the play with Hamlet as we see not only Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in their moments offstage,
but also characters such as the Player, Hamlet and Ophelia. The Player and his company are the

United States Department Of State
Introduction The United States Department of State classifies 58 different organizations as
foreign terrorist organizations (US DOS). Of those 58 FTOs only one is located in South
America, and none are located in Mexico. Despite the lack of official FTOs in Mexico, non state
violence is at an all time high and the country is more dangerous than ever. This is because of the
presence and prevalence of drug cartels throughout the country. These drug cartels employ violent
tactics as part of their drug trafficking network. But these cartels are more than just criminal
organizations. The scope of the violence, the fear they instill in the population, and the influence
they have on policy shows that these organizations should be considered as more than petty
criminals trying to make money. While economic gain remains one of the main goals of these
groups, there is much that falls under the umbrella of terrorism. Terrorism, while difficult to define,
still has a few key features that are mostly agreed upon. These features will be explored in depth
through a discussion of the definition. Following the definition of terrorism, the paper will examine
the cartels in Mexico. Their history, their goals, and their strategies will all be important for
determining whether they should fall under the umbrella of terrorism. Finally, this paper will argue
that the cartels in Mexico display the characteristics of terror and terrorist organizations and they
should be considered and classified

Gang Crime And Crime
The phrase gang crime does not portray an image of injured children, cries of civilians, tear gas
consuming the air, and chaos fled around the eyes of the common man. As developing nations
become more independent, one could argue that their crime rate would be decreasing as well.
However, gang related violence has increased as developing countries improve economically,
socially, and financially. As a result, their law enforcement system and corruption has increased to
win the race of monetary influence. Gang related fixed through the acquisition of monetary
influence alone. To minimize the threat of organized gang crimeamong developing nations,
governmental agencies must increase law enforcement and reduce internal corruption.

The limitation in sustainable law enforcement reduces the likelihood of the complete security of
citizens in developing countries. In addition, internal corruption within governments propel
organized gang crime. The corruption of Venezuelan governments allows an increasingly corrupt
system. In this government, one earns rans by loyalty to a political party ( Global World Report
2013). As gangs earn merits to a particular party, their crimes are accountable for the money they
contribute to a certain party. Another example of corruption within a government is the South
African government. The use of gangs is often implied to eliminate political opposition. The money
that the governments lend gangs increases the amount of crime they can commit. Often policeman
are prone to bribery by gangs gained by the corrupt officials in the government. According to
Human Rights Watch, a human rights advocacy organization, policeman killed a taxi driver due to
bribery: On November 11, a South African judge sentenced eight former policemen to 15 years in

Mass Media And Co-Viewing Research
Mass media consumption is rarely in a social vacuum. Television and movies are often watched
with family and friends, books are passed along and discussed between friends, and newer media
naturally implement mediated conversations with people from across the world. Communication
scholars have known for a long time that the consumption of media is rarely an isolated
experience, and is instead typically social in nature (Katz Lazarsfeld, 1955) However, while many
of the foundational research in the field explored how media effects are intertwined with
interpersonal influences (e.g., two step flow; Katz, 1957), few current media effect researchers
incorporate the social aspects of media consumption into their studies. This is unfortunate as the
social factors such as co viewing can play a great role in attitude formation and emotional effects
(Nathanson, 2001, Tal Or, 2016).
One of the gaps in the co viewing literature is how individual differences and motivations might
play a role in enjoyment of entertainment. This study attempts to explore this gap by analyzing the
effects of two individual traits in tangent with individual uses of media have on how one may
conform to other s enjoyment expression and attitudes. More specifically, this study will explored
how tendency to conform and sociability are associated with using movies for either entertainment
or socializing, and how these motivations relate to group conformity.

Genetically Modified Foods
Part 1
Genetically Modified Food
With genetically modified foods I believe we have reached the thin edge of the wedge, we are
messing with the building blocks of life and its scary Malcom Walker, Chairman and Chief
Executive of Iceland Foods (Quotes from Scientists).
Genetically modified organisms or GMOs are plants or animals made by splicing the gene and
inserting DNA from different species of plants, animals, bacteria, and viruses. These genes
would not naturally result in a cross breed. As a result of this biotechnology more than ninety
percent of corn, soybean, cotton, sugar, and canola in the US are genetically modified. Other
major GMOs are papaya, zucchini and yellow squash (Non GMO Project). If not stopped it will
be a matter of another few years that they capitalized the entire food industry. Ironically even now,
most of the popular food items of children like cereal, crackers, cookies, and processed lunch meat
are all GMOs.
Is genetically modified food good for consumers? What are its impacts? What are the effect of
GMO on the environment? How do they influence the life of a common farmer and the food
industry? Is the situation really bad? How did we get trapped in this? What steps can be taken to
control it? These and many other questions need to be addressed before it is too late.

man was modifying living species. The understanding of the genome led to an

Gonadotropin Simulation
Gonadotropins are a group of hormones that are secreted by the pituitary gland that starts the
production of the gonads. The reason gonadotropins are used in fertility is because it has FSH and
LH hormone that aids in producing eggs in order for a woman to ovulate. So in other words, if a

Also the release of FSH and LH and will stop the body to release the egg to get fertilize. Because
estrogen and progesterone controls the hormone levels in a female in return will stop estrogen
from increasing during the cycle. If progesterone remains high this will stop FSH and LH from

Estrogen and progesterone are involved because it aids in the stopping of a woman period. It
allows the fluid in the virgina to become thick and the uterus lining so the fertilized egg cannot

Pregnancy is similar to birth control because when you are taking birth control a large amount
of progesterone is released and maintained so it can prevent the release of FSH and LH in the
body to stop ovulation so you will not get pregnant and the uterus lining will shed due to no
fertilized egg and you will have a period. However, if the egg is fertilized ones the egg is planted
on the uterus wall and the hormone corteum luteum will produce progesterone so the egg that is
implanted can grow. This will also stop the release of the FSH and the LH hormone so that

George s Reduced Work Week And Layoff Decisions Layoffs
Introduction
Companies face tough decisions during times of economic downturn they cut costs to stay
profitable, and when times get very tough, they may decide to make those cuts very deep. These
cuts will eventually affect employees. Astratech Communications International (ACI) faced these
tough cost cutting decisions. CEO George Anderson started cutting costs with reduced work
weeks and pay for employees. Eventually, product demand dropped to the point where George felt
layoffs were inevitable. There were multiple approaches to this decision making process, and all of
them could be considered ethical depending on the ethical framework used. This paper examines
the ethical issues surrounding George s reduced work week and layoff decisions ... Show more

These companies do not try to hide or spin its struggles and are upfront with it s customers,

often than not because the market gives a higher value to firms that are upfront with investors
and analysts. If a company has done well consistently and has a bad year, a full disclosure will
win more trust from investors and other stakeholders. One example of such a company is
Dropbox. Dropbox was one of the original cloud storage companies and had substantial market
share for both consumers and businesses. For businesses, it had 24% market share, while its two
closest competitors, Box and Microsoft, each took 21% market share. The competitors doubled
their market share just within the past year. Dropbox has released several statements admitting its
weaknesses with it s older business model which focused more on storage and less on security.
They have told its stakeholders they are investing more in file security as well as other strategies to
strengthen its business model and regain its business market

Food Insecurity Is A Fact For Millions Of Americans
Food insecurity is a fact for millions of American every day in our country. Children, adults, and
the elderly of all races, living in poverty or in lower middle class families, are at a higher risk of
not having enough to eat. The United States, in 2012, used roughly 40% or 915 million acres of
all US land as farmland (USDA 2014, 1), yet as a nation we cannot feed all of our people. The
American government subsidizes commodity crops, such as corn, wheat, and soy more than any
other type of crop in the United States, (This does not include the subsidies directly paid to the
meat and dairy industry, which is a whole other paper!). Government subsidies are less common for
the production of fresh fruits and vegetables. Government subsidies encourage farmers to grow
commodity crops instead of growing fruits and vegetables for consumers at competitive prices
creating foodinsecurity. The cheap production of commodity crops force families in the lower
middle class and poverty to choose a diet of processed food, which are less nutritious than fresh
fruits, vegetables, and whole grains causing many of the health problems that we see in the
population today. According to the USDA website in 2015, 12.7 percent, or 15.8 million of
American households were food insecure. A food insecure household is a household that had
difficulty at some time during the year providing enough nutritious food for all the members in a
household due to a lack of resources (Coleman Jensen, et al.

Impact Of Technology On Health Care Industry
Empirical Essay Main Idea The article, IT Based Capabilities, Service Innovation, and Quality in
Health Care, focuses on how there have been many developments in technology which could be
utilized to effectively deliver services within the health care industry (Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p.
1). Through innovation, health care facilities are expected to provide top quality care to patients.
Technology has made that possible; however, prior to this study, it was unsure if the two had any
correlation. The research that was conducted involves the term service in the health care industry
(Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p. 1). Three Important Facts One fact that the article emphases on is
the importance of how customers are demanding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5). If a medical facility believes that they are providing the best quality of service to the patients,
possible improvements will go unidentified. An example would be to reexamine the EHR
program that is being utilized periodically to determine if an upgrade or new program would be
more beneficial for the employees and patients. There are numerous EHR programs that are
being developed and/or constantly undergoing improvements. Although a program is effective
for the facility and patients, it does not signify that it is providing the best quality of care. Lastly,
health care facilities that use IT to improve their capabilities for service innovation and service
quality have the potential to enhance their organizations strategic and operational performance
(Thambusamy Palvia, 2011, p. 17). Innovation in the health care industry is pertinent for
providers to be able to ensure not only the quality of care is exceptional but also to contribute in
reducing medical errors. Allowing patients to have access to selected parts of their medical record
allows the patients to have an active role in their health. Ideas Our text and the article discussed
how IT can also be used by health care facilities to improve

High School Sports Essay
Competitive sports play a large role in many high schools. In high school I played every sport;
Football, Basketball, Baseball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, I even Wrestled. High school sports
over the past couple of years have become increasingly difficult to keep up with due to the vast
amount of preparation you re expected to do. Most recognize that the Pro s and the NCAA have
gone too far with there s willingness to win. That do whatever it takes to win mentality kills from
the game in my opinion.
High school sports on the other hand are still a classic battle of one s rivalry against another in

Impact Of The Renaissance Change In Modern Europe
How the renaissance changed early modern Europe
Early modern Europe was an interesting and important time for all of Europe. From 1300 to 1800,
many events were set into motion that would forever change Europe, and to extent, the rest of the
world. No other event in European history is as recognizable or synonymous with early modern
European history than the event simply known as The Renaissance.
The Renaissance is most famous for occurring in Italy, and is commonly known as a time in which
a cultural rebirth, or awakening occurred. Renaissance Italy is often referred to as The birthplace of
the modern world (Butters, 159). The renaissance ushered in a new era of literature, education, arts,
religious thinking, culture, economy, and politics in Italy. These new and radical changes quickly
spread throughout Europe, as they were revolutionary and very popular. In political change, during
the renaissance, figures known as the Signorie brought about change when they overthrew the old
republican regime of early modern Italy. The Signorie were lordships that were rules by a single
man who then passed on power and leadership to his firstborn son. The Signorie justified their
authority with the claim that they provided a stable form of government and social peace, unlike
the oligarchic and popular government, especially when the two fought amongst themselves.
When it comes to religious practices and cultural change, it could be argued that the renaissance had

Last Summer Travi $ Scott
Last summer Travi$ Scott released Days Before Rodeo, a free mixtape that wouldn t just serve as
the unofficial countdown for his debut album, but give listeners a sense of what the rapper
/producer is working with sonically. Pounding, acerbic drums, thick, hazy atmospheres, and a
confrontational predisposition would establish Scott as a fearless rising star in rap music. And
although the tape was a welcome shift from the amateurish shlock that plagued his debut tape Owl
Pharaoh, it also did very little to invite the listener into Scott s world. Even if Scott had trouble
lining up his greatest attributes, his talent was certainly evident. His production choices, which
have been carefully excavated from the post 808s Heartbreakmusical landscape and Atlanta s grab
bag of innovations, can be intriguing, and his rebellious posturing certainly strikes a chord with a
certain angsty personality type. Those rare moments when he finds the right balance Basement
Freestyle is perhaps the best example can add up to something quite uncanny. With the clock no
longer ticking, Scott returns with Rodeo, an album that looks to position the 21 year old as a
curator of supreme taste, as well darken his already moody blues. At fourteen tracks Rodeo presents
blockbuster names (Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd), noteworthy rap
talent (Chief Keef, Future, Swae Lee, Quavo, Young Thug), and in demand producers (Metro
Boomin, Southside, TM88, Zaytoven, FKi, WondaGurl).

Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, is a bacterium that is resistant to many
available high level beta lactam antibiotics, which include penicillins, antistaphylococcal penicillins
and cephalosporins. Staphyloccoci are the most important bacteria that cause disease in humans.
MRSA is sometimes branded as a nosocomial infection as it usually plagues patients that are
receiving treatment in a hospital. The skin is the most common site of infection, where MRSA can
cause cellulitis, folliculitis, or boils in the skin, but can also commonly be found in the nose,

How Significant Was The Threat Posed Of Royal Authority By...
How significant was the threat posed to royal authority by the Western rising of 1549?
Prior to the Western rising, also known as the Prayer Book rebellion, England had experienced
uprisings. The Amicable Grant uprising in 1525 and the Pilgrimage of Grace in 1536 are just two
examples of monumental uprisings that occurred. In 1549, large swathes of the country (23
counties) were shaken by rebellions. The huge geographical extent of the rebellions made them the
most serious, widespread movements of disorder since the Peasants Revolt of 1381. One of the
rebellions that posed as a particular threat was the Western rebellionin Devon and Cornwall. Some

Instead they remained loyal to their monarchy.
The Western rising could be considered as a significant threat for a number of reasons, one of
these being that the rebels had a total disregard for any of the new laws concerning the new
Prayer Book, which, on the 21 January 1549, passed both Houses of Parliament. A rule was
made for the laymen anyone attacking the Book or procuring a cleric to use any other form of
worship would suffer a rising scale of fines, losing all possessions on his third offence. This rule
was soon broken as parishioners of Sampford Courtenay (Devon), in the words of John Hooker,
forced their priest to put on his old popish attire and conduct the mass in Latin as in past times
accustomed , which immdedately broke th rule of procuring a cleric to use any other form of
worship. Another example of the people not reacting positively to the new changes can be
shown in the death of William Body. He was a commissioner in Cornwall that was sent to
Helston to remove all symbols of Catholicism. When he arrived a mob, led by Martin Geffrey, the
priest of St Keverne set upon him and killed him...the murder of body was the first violent
expression of their hostility to Protestant demolition of traditional rituals . This proves exactly how
willing the Cornish to break any laws connected with the new religious policy. This shows the
rebellion would be a threat because there was a sudden reaction of discontent for the religious

The Australian criminal justice system approaches young offenders through unique strategies to
address the challenges of dealing with juvenile offending. Even though young offenders commit a
higher percentage of crime compared to adults, young offenders also have the highest likelihood to

The Effects Of Drunk Driving On The Road Of Driving
Oluwaseyi Isola
Prof. Laura Baltuska
English 101 015
29 November, 2016
Under the Influence Is Under Arrest
What is one of the most evil and deadly acts? Drunk driving? Oh no! These two words together
are uncordial behaviors. The crime of driving a vehicle or operating a motorized machine while
under the influence of alcohol is totally against the law of the land, but some people still won t
stop. Is there any gain in drunk driving than loss of lives, loss of driving privileges, and property
vehicles? One third of traffic deaths involve alcohol impaired driving (MADD). Therefore, a
behavior that involves a tiny proportion of drivers is one of the key causes of death on the roads.
This is an indication that retaining the licenses of drivers involved in drunk driving is not enough to
deter drunk driving because some people in this category are still driving even though their
licenses have been suspended or revoked. For this reason, it is necessary to adopt more strict
measures to deal with the problem. In particular, drunk driving can be prevented through the use of
ignition interlock systems and sobriety checkpoints at an individual level while a school based
instructional program can help to prevent the problem at a community level.
To begin with, drunk driving is a serious menace to Americans on the road, as it contributes to a
large number of traffic deaths and injuries. In 2012, for instance, over 10,000 people lost their lives
from crashes attributed to drunk driving.

Race And Class, Race, And Race
This article discusses the thought and preconceived notions that race is the major determining
factor of the health outcomes of persons living in Baltimore, an urban area. However, what was
found is that the place matters. Furthermore, what I was able to understand in greater depth is that
there are deeply rooted racial issues in the United Statesof America despite the legislation that has
been passed to eliminate such issues. In addition, what I was able to dissipate was that the
researchers were not able to determine which was more important or prevalent, raceor place in
seeking to accomplish health equity.
In addition, the controversy was is it race and class or race or class . My conclusion is that it is both.
Race is unfortunately reflective of where you live. Despite, the Fair Discrimination Act of 1964 and
several laws both state and federal to prevent discrimination in housing it still exists. Housing
discrimination affects ones access to activities that can decrease chronic illnesses and the access to
good healthcare. I have some thoughts concerning this statement Racial segregation creates
different exposures to economic opportunity and to other community resources that enhance health
. The reason I have questions about this statement is because in the Jim Crow era until the late
1960 s there were several communities of segregated Black populations that did very well
economically. For example, Sweet Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia and Black Wall Street

Similarities And Differences Between The Iliad And Arjuna
Many books of literature, no matter what time period they were written or who the author is, have
many similarities. The books The Iliad and Bhagavad Gita are great examples of this. These two
books consist of many of the same themes and characteristics within the readings that cause them to
relate to each other. On the other hand, they also have some characteristics that contradict
themselves in different ways. In the book The Iliadthe author Homer, explains a story revolving
around a Greek hero named Achilles. Both stories have two main characters, Achilles and Arjuna,
which really have many of the same characteristics within them. Both Achilles from The Iliad
and Arjuna from Bhagavad Gita have many similar aspects about themselves and what s
expected of them in their daily life. The main theme characteristics that I m going to discuss in

However all variations of a four day work week fall under the umbrella term alternative work

be talking about a schedule that consists of four, ten hour days, which is still a full forty hour
work week. I will be taking a close look at the benefits and drawback to both the employer and
the employee when it comes to working a four day work week. In addition to looking at the
benefits to those directly related, the employer and employee, I will also touch on some benefits
to those who are indirectly benefited; which refers to the general population. At first glance it
would appear to many people that a four day work week is not different than a standard five day
work week; after all the same number of hours are being work at weeks end. So, that begs the
question why is it that only roughly 960,000 Americans, which is less than 1% of the labor force
work a four day work week (Thank God it s Thursday? 74)?

Numbers are also used when we tell our age. When people are construct houses or building, they
use mathematics. According to Muslim Achievements Al Khwarizmi also made ground breaking
advances in the field of algebra. It also says In facts, the word algebra comes from

Gun Safety At Home And Gun Control
Many people never think about the safeness of their child at home without a safe for their guns and
think that their child or other family members will get a hold of their guns to cause harms to others.
A better gun safety at home and gun control would prevent school shootings because many school
shootings could have been prevented with safety measures in the homes and in 2005 study shows
that 1.69 million of children under the age of 18 lived with loaded and unlocked firearms at home.
So, about 89 percent of unintentional shootings of children in homes are caused by children
playing with loaded guns without their parents present. Many parents at home never think about the
location of their guns and always think that putting a weaponsomewhere high will fix the problem
of their child getting a hold of the guns. Also, thinking that your child knows not to touch a
weapon can prevent an accident but that is not the case because nowadays guns are being shown
all around the world and in movies that cause children, wanting to be like them and act like them.
The problem of passing laws on guncontrol that would help prevent school shootings is that many
Congress don t have the courage to take that step, Senator wouldn t pass it and the House wouldn
t even consider it. Having a good safe for your guns at home will solve all problem with children
getting a hold of a gun and bring it to the school to cause harms to other and family members. Guns
safe is something that keeps the

Minor Dyslexia
The process of writing was one that as a kid loomed over me because the idea of expressing the
feelings that were inside out onto a paper always stumped me. How could I be asked to take what
was held privately in my head and manage to make sense of it all, enough that others could
understand? The struggle to manage my feelings into tangible ideas stemmed from my minor
dyslexia and it was apparent in my ability to read and write. The spelling errors that riddled my
writingand my inability to differentiate opposites while speaking were clear indicators that my
minor dyslexia was something that I would have to live with. Going through the typical public
schooltract was not one that favored those with learningdisabilities. In elementary and

another weakness of the company. Opportunities: (1)One of the big opportunities for Master

Master Tiles is planning to expand their production capacity to meet the future demand. (2)One
opportunity for Master Tiles is that Government imposed anti dumping duties on Chinese Tiles

Todd Park Research Paper
Whenever a good rainfall comes in, one thing that troubles councilmember Oscar Galvan s mind
are the dugouts at Todd Park being flooded once again. Reaching levels high enough to cover the
20 year old bench in the dugout that hasn t went through any remodeling or has seen much
improvement, Galvan said renovations are past due . With local baseball and softball teams now
conditioning, Galvan worries how teams will be accommodated once the spring season starts.
When the water level rises, the city has to come by and pump it, Galvan said. Making the
serviceable effort to stop by to sweep and clean the dugouts once a week, Galvan finds himself
completing the work that should be done by the city s Public Works Department. This is an ongoing
thing, when I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From clothes to small stools, old junk food bags and cartons, the dugout has become a decaying
dungeon. I think what the city needs to do, is knock down these dugouts and bury the ground.
Put a cement slab from the entrance of where the dugout begins to the other end, put up a chain
link fence, something we can lock to keep out the homeless, set up aluminum benches and get
rid of the dugouts because there isn t a drain system for them, Galvan said. As an advocate for
nice parks in the community, Galvan said he values how much people utilize the parks and
thinks the recreation here, is something to be proud of. If you ever come here sometimes on the
weekends, this park is full, Galvan said. People come here for birthday parties, with big jumpers
and have cook outs. Blythe is a beautiful place with nice people, but our parks have been
neglected over the years. Favorable to the bathroom remodeling coming soon at Todd Park, Galvan
hopes the dugout will make its way on a list as an improvement project. The dugouts are a concern
for me. I just don t think they re healthy anymore, Galvan dismally

Ovid s Metamorphoses Sexuality
When one becomes familiar with mythology through Ovid s Metamorphoses, a collection of
preexisting myths, strung together with the unifying theme of metamorphosis and divine
intervention, a new language of allusions is discovered. This is used by Christopher Marlowe to
better express the themes of beauty and sexuality through an Ovidian aesthetic in his epyllion, Hero
and Leander. Marlowe writes of two naГЇve lovers, equal in beauty, separated by the Hellespont,
Leander in Abydos and Hero in Sestos. During the festival of Venus and Adonis in Sestos, Leander
falls in love with Venus nun, Hero, who vowed chastity to the goddess. Despite this, Leander
continues to court her with passionate and persuasive language. Hero overcome by her own feelings,

Throughout the story, Hero has struggled with her love for Leander and dedication to Venus. In
her first amorous meeting with Leander He asked, she gave and nothing was denied; ... / And what
he did, she willingly requited (509, 512). This encounter does not seem to go further than
embracing and sweet kisses, so Hero was able to both love Leander and respect her vow. Leander,
however, seems to be overwhelmed with his newly discovered sexual desire and eager to act on it.
When he does after reaching Hero s tower, she tries to hide but is at his mercy. The girl who before
was enamored with Love s holy fire, with words, with sighs and tears / Which like sweet music
entered Hero s ears (193 194) is now left to believe: Love is not full of pity, as men say, / But deaf
and cruel, where he means to prey (771 772). Leander s words, which once pleased Hero, spoke
over and dismissed Hero s hesitance; Leander s hands, she lovingly held, are now said to resemble a
snare for prey, showing the deafness and cruelty of

The Problem Of California Drought
California Drought
It wasn t so long ago America experienced one of its biggest natural disasters. From this event
many lost their homes, vegetation, and brought the great depression to an even worse position.
The worst American drought was known as the dust bowl in the 1930 s, many citizens didn t see
it coming because they didn t see the signs and for that same reason many suffered. Today
California is receiving the same signs that it s coming to a drought, but the citizens don t seem to
take it seriously to what the outcome could come too. The people from California need to
understand that there has to be something done to preserve more water. Discipline is key to
preserve more water, it can all start at home by also being responsible managing how much water
you should be using. Cities as well should put in action by investing more money to give our
community the best up to date irrigation system, and or have a larger amount of city workers
around the clock inspect all the areas to see no wasting is occurring. As I said discipline is the
key word for every citizen in California to understand if they would like to keep California out of
a drought. Many people waste water in a daily basis where if one person may not seem like a lot,
but multiply it with about more than 39,145,000 people that live in California doing the same
thing, it tends to add up drastically. Anything is a waste of water from leaving the sink running
while brushing your teeth, washing dishes,

Terrestrial Human Body
Earthsicknesss: Circumnavigation and the Terrestrial Human Body by Joyce E. Chaplin and Fear
of Hot Climates in the Anglo American Colonial Experience by Karen Kupperman both provide
great insight on specific cases in which European exploration and colonization lead to drastic
changes in timely practices related to health, diet, and daily life. In her piece, Chaplin explicitly
discusses the issue of scurvy in relation to circumnavigation, ranging from the 1500s to the
beginning of the 1800s, with the assistance of direct accounts, narratives, medical statistics, and
European literature. Generally, throughout the 3 centuries, sailors and captains believed that scurvy
(also known as sea sickness) could be cured solely through direct contact... Show more content on

Kupperman begins her article with a summary of standard body humor belief, while criticising the
European belief that uncommon climates drastically affected their health. Nevertheless, once
colonization of the West Indies and the Americas began, Europeans quickly realized the benefits of
warmer climates, such as increases in crop production, harvest, and variety. Negatives were also
analyzed as weeds ran rampant and working hours were compromised around the hottest parts of
the day. Adaptation and acclimation were central components of new colonization lifestyle, which
included altering physiology through trained sweating and diet, wearing lighter and informal
articles of clothing, and building homes in different locations and out if different materials.
Colonists generally learned their survival skills from natives, who offered their own remedies to
medical conditions such as heat stroke and yellow fever, which colonists quickly adapted as the
diseases of the West Indies seemingly contrasted from those of Europe. Although Europeans
originally denied their possible success and survival in the New World, many found that immense
production accompanied the climate change, which was worth the health risks and lifestyle

Band Of Brothers
During the time of World War II, America fought to end the tyranny of Nazi Germany by using its
most valuable tool, the Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne. The author Stephen
Ambrose catches a glimpse of what these heroic soldiers accomplished in his book Band of
Brothers, by providing readers with interviews of first hand encounters on the battlefields of
Europe, from former paratroopers that served in the 506th Regiment. Ambrose s book depicts how
the spectacles of war create everlasting scars on soldiers mentally and physically, that never fully
heal. Ambrose admired his father, whom was a physician and served in the Navy during World War
II. This influenced Ambrose to become like his farther, but he later became passionate with history,
receiving his Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin. Ambrose admired the history of war and
wanted to understand the thoughts and emotions that ran through the paratroopers minds from
Toccoa, where they trained for endless days under the command of Lieutenant Sobel, to the last
moments on November 30, 1945, where the 101st... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

recruits, attempting to fight the mental scars that were previously embedded into their memories
from prior brothers dying on the frontlines. While the veterans were fighting in Europe, Ambrose

Churches Should Not Be Divided
Why Churches Should Not Be So Divided
One of the core values in Christianity is to love one another like Christ loved us, but us as
Christians can t even seem to love each other in our own churches. Let alone other churches.
In a world already divided so greatly, we as Christians should strive to establish more unity and do
away with so much division within our own churches.
Let s face it, Christians don t necessarily have the best rep. There are major news stories of
Christian bakers refusing to bake a cake for a same sex couple. You can watch videos such as this
one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIqJYqBrbI4 , where random people are asked their
opinion on Christianity and there are certainly people with unfavorable views on ... Show more

But most doctrine. People are certainly concerned about how the stigma of not being tied to one
certain set of beliefs affects the church as a whole. I believe that this is a problem within churches
with denominations as well. I currently attend a Baptist Church. I attend Trinity Baptist Church to
be precise. I grew up in the Baptist church and am a born again Christian familiar with the beliefs
and ideology of the Baptist branch of Protestant Christianity. So you may be wondering, why I
would be criticizing the very branch of religion I associate myself with. Or why I criticize any
denomination of Christianity in general. It is not as much that I am against the idea of people
having different perspectives of the same religion, or different ways to tell the same story, if you
will. It is more or less my wish to ease or even put an end to the compartmentalization of ourselves
within our own denominations and churches. A post from Starting Point puts in
Walker 3 into great words, During Jesus ministry, he prayed that his future followers would exhibit
a special kind of unity that would be a testimony to the world. So what happened? Rather than unity,
harmony, and cooperation, Christians are often known for their squabbles and divisions. Even
when they appear to get along, they divide up into hundreds of different groups, churches, and
denominations. For those who are not Christians, it seems

Huntington Religion
The argument Huntington is giving is that there will not be near as many fights over politics and
economic values but more of culture and religious values. Throughout the article he talks a lot
about what he believes will happen but one thing that we can be sure is he believes that there
will be war over culture. As people define their identity in ethnic and religious terms, they are
likely to see an us versus them relation existing between themselves and people of different
ethnicity or religion. This quote from the article shows us that he does believe people will fight
because they see it as it is their culture against everyone else s. It is hard to talk things out with
people who believe the complete different things you believe.... Show more content on

Each one of the claims will go onto support the overall issue that culture will cause the clash of
civilizations. A great support Huntington uses is that no matter what we think of cultures each one
is different in many ways. If its religion, language, or different historical backgrounds these will
cause conflict to arise. With each civilization being different it can be hard to get along with other
people because of how different their views might be. Another issue that arises is that not all, but
many civilizations are influenced by the west. This is where the idea of westernization comes into
play. Each community is trying to improve and be bigger and better themselves, they are trying to
be better than their neighbors. If one civilization improves the surrounding groups will want to be
the same. This means they will compete to be the same or even better than the civilization that
already made it. This can lead to conflict and death between civilizations. Another reason is that
when conflicts arise between civilizations it is a lot harder to resolve than a political or economical
one. Like stated before it is very difficult to change someone s beliefs, that means there is very little
wiggle room for negotiation. The final example that Huntington writes about is that the economic
regionalism is increasing. This means that more cultures and civilization are trading between
themselves, but

Betty Williams Research Paper
Out of all thirty three living Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, I am most interested in hearing Betty
Williams speak about her efforts to inspire peace. Betty Williams was awarded the 1976 Nobel
Peace Prize for her work and devotion to bettering the lives of suffering children. The 1976 Nobel
Peace Prize was jointly awarded to Betty Williams and her partner Mairead Corrigan in 1977
because the Norwegian Nobel Committeedecided that the 1976 prize had to be reserved for the
following year since none of the year s candidates for the award matched the criteria ( Nobel Peace
Prize1976 ). Mrs. Williams founded the Global Children s Studies Center in 1992 which eventually

between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. Williams drew inspiration from Martin

that nonviolence is the weapon of the strong, not the weak. (Tucci). Aside from the Nobel Peace

Martin Luther King, Jr. Award, the Eleanor Roosevelt Global Women s Rights Award and the

Creole Hybridity in Literature
Jamaican patois is not an official language, which is the same for most if not all languages are
not, although recently, there are some creole dictionaries and Haitian Creole is being taught in
schools. People tend to have a negative perception of a creole and thus, the people who speak and
chose to write in this creole languageare often lumped into a box. There is a stigma attached to it,
and people often say that it is the language of the poor lower class of the country. Growing up in
St. Lucia, I saw how this is true, people are often embarrassed by their parent who spoke creole,
or they as children where forbidden to speak creole as to avoid being stereotyped. The language
expresses the history of the Caribbeanand the hybridity that emerges through language. In the
diaspora, people depend on creating a space of home in the host country and language is an
important part of this space. The connection immigrants feel when they come into contact with
literature that features a language of their native homeland offers them their own space in the
literary world, and a way for their stories to be told. The writers and people who use creole are
confirming their identities as a merger of multiple influences. They use the language despite the
stigma and fight to maintain the culture by doing so language is part of one s identity. Wordy,

  • 2. 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake Essay The 9.0 magnitude Indian Ocean earthquake was caused by subduction under the Indian Ocean. Earthquakes are usually caused by convection currents leading to subduction/convergent currents. Convection currents is caused by magma rising from the deepest part of the earth, then slowly cooling, sinking again then re heating, then rising upwards basically repeating the rising and cooling then re heating cycle over and over again. The plates are separated from each other and they move apart, the plates then obviously hit another plate right next to it causing subduction. This earthquakewas caused on the Oceanic crust, in the Indian Ocean, creating tsunamis that caused disasters and thousands of life loss throughout the Indian Ocean basin. The... Everything such as money and belongings will be all gone meaning everyone will have to start over. People would become greedy and criminal like since no one has anything left. If people see things that are valuable, people will fight and argue to win that valuable thing causing war leading to death. Everyone will starve because of hunger. No one will have the utensils and time to cook. If there were things to cook with, there will be no crops or animals left to cook/eat. In conclusion, natural disasters have a huge effect to the environment and people. War will start since everything would be extremely valuable, everyone will fight to get what they need and want. Preparation and/or recovery from your disaster: To reduce the damage that earthquakes create, people construct buildings that are stable. Japan is where there are lots of earthquakes but their buildings don t collapse. Japanese pagodas are five stories. The pagodas are held up by a central pillar acting as the support. During earthquake s, each floor balances independently without transmitting force to other floors. There are other ways to improve buildings to reduce the impact of earthquakes. In some Japanese buildings, there s a base isolation built. The Base Isolation is a system that is made of steel disks. These steel disks are made of soft materials to soften the transmission of seismic movement from the ground ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Artler s Journey Once upon a time, there was a carbon atom named Artler. This carbon atom started his journey as hard wood in a pinyon tree. He stayed here for millions and millions of years. Eventually, Artler was buried in a landslide. This eventually turned him into an atom of carbon in coal. He now carries on with his adventure in the lithosphere of fossil fuels. Artler is now living his life happily as a piece of coalin the lithosphere. He has been here for millions of years once again, just like with the pinyon tree. As a piece of coal, Artler was burned in a stove to warm a nice happy family. Now, Artler is becoming carbonin the form of CO2. Finally, he will lie in the atmosphere all by himself. For the next part of Artler s journey, he is CO2 in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Artler remains here for about 5 months. However, Artler is then used by a bacterium in order to produce energy. Artler is now energy, and being sent back to the atmosphere. Once again, Artler heads back to his favorite place, the atmosphere. Artler is not just any limestone, for he is Kaibab Limestone. He remains here for millions of years. However, sadly, he is mined in order to make cement. During this process, CO2 is released into the atmosphere. Once more, Artler is sent up into the atmosphere. Artler is in the atmosphere for one last final time. He remains here for about 62 years as CO2. He is finally absorbed by a plant once more. Here, he becomes part of the plant through photosynthesis. Artler finally ends his journey in the biosphere once more, as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some women claim that a part of the matter of an excessive amount of stress that comes from their management, that had several men holding high positions making these demands on their appearance. Bridging Trial Case Study The BRIDGE trial, conducted by Douketis and associates,1 was a randomized, multicenter, double blind, placebo controlled trial that questioned the need for anticoagulation bridging in patients with atrial fibrillation, who are undergoing an invasive procedure that requires interruption of warfarin therapy. The primary efficacy outcome was arterial thromboembolism, which includes stroke, transient ischemic attack, and systemic embolism, whereas the secondary efficacy outcomes were acute myocardial infarction, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and death. The primary and secondary safety outcomes were major and minor bleeding, respectively. Patients eligible for this trial must have been 18 years or older, had chronic atrial fibrillationor flutter, been on warfarin therapy for at least 3 months, had an international normalized ratio (INR) of 2.0 to 3.0, were undergoing an elective invasive procedure that required discontinuation of warfarin therapy, and had at least one CHAD2 stroke risk... • 8. Roman Empire Vs Germanic Society Essay While both Roman society and Germanic society do not view slaves as full people each society does have some safeguards to slaves wellbeing. Although both societies try to protect their slaves they also illustrated that slaves were not equal to free and even freed slaves were not equal. While both societies have positive aspects to their treatment of slaves I believe it would be better to be a slave in a Germanic society rather than a Roman society. In a Germanic society a slave had a greater ability to marry, slaves also had the ability to pay fines for wrong doing rather than receive physical punishment and in Germanic law codes there was more of a focus on petty crime committed by slaves rather than in Roman codes where there was a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roman law does not recognize the ability of a slave to marry. Any physical relations with a slave in Roman law, even if consensual were not permitted, nor were family relationships among slaves recognized by law (Civilizations 111). The inability of slaves to enjoy the normalcy of relationships with family members or a partner shows how much more restrictive Roman society was. It also shows that Romans viewed their slaves as less human than did Germanic people. When slaves were being punished for crimes such as thievery or other common crimes in Salic areas they could face very harsh physical punishment, such as lashing and castration if male (Civilizations ). If slaves confessed to their crimes they, or more likely their owner, would be able to pay a fine, and restore the stolen property, or value of the property, in order to prevent physical harm as a punishment for their crime. Roman laws about crimes concerning slaves are about punishment for killing slaves by free people, other than their owner, or maintaining slaves loyalty to their owners (Civilizations 114). This shows that these were the problems that the Romans were dealing with and in comparison to the Germanic problems, murdering slaves was not just a petty crime. Laws concerning crimes committed by or against salves display that the Roman Empire s problem was not with minor crime but with serious offenses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Social Penetration Theory Believes Relationships Can Progress Social penetration theory believes relationships can progress from platonic to intimate through increasing self disclosure (West Turner, 2010, pp. 168 169). During the initial stages of a relationship, self disclosure needs to be reciprocated, in order for trust to form (Wright, 2017). Any relationship can evolve by using social penetration theory; it is not specific to any one type of relationship. However, talking about sensitive topics is not easy, and can lead to a person feeling vulnerable. Consequently, it is imperative, during the initial stages of a relationship, that self disclosure is reciprocated, in order to form trust (West Turner, 2010, pp. 168 169 Wright, 2017). Social penetration theory predicts nonintimate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did this because; the theories are exemplified in both interactions. For my familiar relationship, I chose my roommate, who has also been my friend for four years. After I logged and reflected on our conversations, I noticed I was reviewing the conversations as either a negative or a positive, thus realizing the social exchange theory applied best to my familiar subject. However, social penetration is exemplified when we talked about sensitive topics. Social penetration is supported more by my unfamiliar subject, or my coworker, but social exchange is also exemplified when we shared similar characteristics. Social exchange theory rates interactions as either a positive or negative. Many of my interactions between my roommate was more negative than positive. For example on, 3/21/17, she asked for suggestions on her homework assignment because she wanted to know how to improve it. Also, on, 3/22/17, we were debating on who should drive, despite the fact it was her idea to go out, because she did not want to, I had to. These conversations seem trivial on the surface, but there small examples of what I give to the friendship, with nothing in return, making them a cost to the friendship. Another example of a cost was on, 3/25/17, we had a discussion about profanity, because she uses profanity excessively and I rarely do. She said she wanted to stop using as much profanity, but yet she has never made the effort to do so. Thus, each time she uses profanity, it becomes a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Stagecraft of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead ...a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more... This quote from Macbeth is a perfect summary of the plot of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. The dramatisation of the lives of these two unremarkable and virtually extraneous characters from Hamlet is an unlikely foundation for one of the most...engaging of post war plays (Daily Telegraph). However, as with Samuel Beckett s absurdist play Waiting for Godot the originalityof Stoppard s concept is not enough in itself to create a masterpiece and it is the brilliance of the stagecraft and writing that establishes this play as a classic. They, understandably scared, attempt to find him but after much wandering and procrastination arrive in exactly the same place they started. A fitting punch line to the visual joke is Guildenstern s comment Well, at last we re getting somewhere . The second example transpires immediately afterwards when they construct a trap for Hamlet (two belts held taunt before an entranceway) he evades this by simply walking around it and the two men enhance their folly by saying there s a limit to what two people can do . The farcical quality of this piece of action is mirrored later on in Act III when the Player and his troupe appear on the boat. Ros and Guil are alerted to their presence by the now familiar pipe music and Rosencrantz is startled that the music it is coming from three barrels on stage. As soon as the music stops the lid of the middle barrel flies open and the Player s head pops out. He climbs out, followed by his entire company and their instruments. This stage direction is extremely effective and droll and brings an interesting edge to the use of space. The actions of the other characters in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead cleverly intertwine the play with Hamlet as we see not only Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in their moments offstage, but also characters such as the Player, Hamlet and Ophelia. Despite the lack of official FTOs in Mexico, non state violence is at an all time high and the country is more dangerous than ever. This is because of the presence and prevalence of drug cartels throughout the country. These drug cartels employ violent tactics as part of their drug trafficking network. But these cartels are more than just criminal organizations. The scope of the violence, the fear they instill in the population, and the influence they have on policy shows that these organizations should be considered as more than petty criminals trying to make money. While economic gain remains one of the main goals of these groups, there is much that falls under the umbrella of terrorism. Terrorism, while difficult to define, still has a few key features that are mostly agreed upon. These features will be explored in depth through a discussion of the definition. Following the definition of terrorism, the paper will examine the cartels in Mexico. Their history, their goals, and their strategies will all be important for determining whether they should fall under the umbrella of terrorism. Finally, this paper will argue that the cartels in Mexico display the characteristics of terror and terrorist organizations and they should be considered and classified ... Television and movies are often watched with family and friends, books are passed along and discussed between friends, and newer media naturally implement mediated conversations with people from across the world. Communication scholars have known for a long time that the consumption of media is rarely an isolated experience, and is instead typically social in nature (Katz Lazarsfeld, 1955) However, while many of the foundational research in the field explored how media effects are intertwined with interpersonal influences (e.g., two step flow; Katz, 1957), few current media effect researchers incorporate the social aspects of media consumption into their studies. This is unfortunate as the social factors such as co viewing can play a great role in attitude formation and emotional effects (Nathanson, 2001, Tal Or, 2016). One of the gaps in the co viewing literature is how individual differences and motivations might play a role in enjoyment of entertainment. This study attempts to explore this gap by analyzing the effects of two individual traits in tangent with individual uses of media have on how one may conform to other s enjoyment expression and attitudes. Children, adults, and the elderly of all races, living in poverty or in lower middle class families, are at a higher risk of not having enough to eat. The United States, in 2012, used roughly 40% or 915 million acres of all US land as farmland (USDA 2014, 1), yet as a nation we cannot feed all of our people. The American government subsidizes commodity crops, such as corn, wheat, and soy more than any other type of crop in the United States, (This does not include the subsidies directly paid to the meat and dairy industry, which is a whole other paper!). Government subsidies are less common for the production of fresh fruits and vegetables. Government subsidies encourage farmers to grow commodity crops instead of growing fruits and vegetables for consumers at competitive prices creating foodinsecurity. The cheap production of commodity crops force families in the lower middle class and poverty to choose a diet of processed food, which are less nutritious than fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains causing many of the health problems that we see in the population today. According to the USDA website in 2015, 12.7 percent, or 15.8 million of American households were food insecure. From 1300 to 1800, many events were set into motion that would forever change Europe, and to extent, the rest of the world. No other event in European history is as recognizable or synonymous with early modern European history than the event simply known as The Renaissance. The Renaissance is most famous for occurring in Italy, and is commonly known as a time in which a cultural rebirth, or awakening occurred. Renaissance Italy is often referred to as The birthplace of the modern world (Butters, 159). The renaissance ushered in a new era of literature, education, arts, religious thinking, culture, economy, and politics in Italy. These new and radical changes quickly spread throughout Europe, as they were revolutionary and very popular. In political change, during the renaissance, figures known as the Signorie brought about change when they overthrew the old republican regime of early modern Italy. The Signorie were lordships that were rules by a single man who then passed on power and leadership to his firstborn son. The Signorie justified their authority with the claim that they provided a stable form of government and social peace, unlike the oligarchic and popular government, especially when the two fought amongst themselves. Surgery may be required to debride and drain the pus filled skin from the infected area, while antibiotics, such as vancomycin, linezolid, daptomycin, quinupristin/dalfopristin, clindomycin (as well as many other sulfa drugs and tetracyclines) could be prescribed to help eradicate the infection. Some antibiotics that are used to treat MRSA are only available intravenously. Unfortunately, some high powered antibiotics are developing resistance to MRSA infections. Because of this, Vancomycin is no longer a sure treatment for MRSA due to questions surrounding its effectiveness. Patients that are prescribed antibiotics should never stop taking their antibiotics, even if they are starting to feel better. • 33. How Significant Was The Threat Posed Of Royal Authority By... How significant was the threat posed to royal authority by the Western rising of 1549? Prior to the Western rising, also known as the Prayer Book rebellion, England had experienced uprisings. The Amicable Grant uprising in 1525 and the Pilgrimage of Grace in 1536 are just two examples of monumental uprisings that occurred. In 1549, large swathes of the country (23 counties) were shaken by rebellions. The huge geographical extent of the rebellions made them the most serious, widespread movements of disorder since the Peasants Revolt of 1381. One of the rebellions that posed as a particular threat was the Western rebellionin Devon and Cornwall. Some historians argue that the Western Rising was not a significant threat to royal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead they remained loyal to their monarchy. The Western rising could be considered as a significant threat for a number of reasons, one of these being that the rebels had a total disregard for any of the new laws concerning the new Prayer Book, which, on the 21 January 1549, passed both Houses of Parliament. A rule was made for the laymen anyone attacking the Book or procuring a cleric to use any other form of worship would suffer a rising scale of fines, losing all possessions on his third offence. This rule was soon broken as parishioners of Sampford Courtenay (Devon), in the words of John Hooker, forced their priest to put on his old popish attire and conduct the mass in Latin as in past times accustomed , which immdedately broke th rule of procuring a cleric to use any other form of worship. Another example of the people not reacting positively to the new changes can be shown in the death of William Body. He was a commissioner in Cornwall that was sent to Helston to remove all symbols of Catholicism. When he arrived a mob, led by Martin Geffrey, the priest of St Keverne set upon him and killed him...the murder of body was the first violent expression of their hostility to Protestant demolition of traditional rituals . This proves exactly how willing the Cornish to break any laws connected with the new religious policy. This shows the rebellion would be a threat because there was a sudden reaction of discontent for the religious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Effects Of Drunk Driving On The Road Of Driving Oluwaseyi Isola Prof. Laura Baltuska English 101 015 29 November, 2016 Under the Influence Is Under Arrest What is one of the most evil and deadly acts? Drunk driving? Oh no! These two words together are uncordial behaviors. The crime of driving a vehicle or operating a motorized machine while under the influence of alcohol is totally against the law of the land, but some people still won t stop. Is there any gain in drunk driving than loss of lives, loss of driving privileges, and property vehicles? One third of traffic deaths involve alcohol impaired driving (MADD). Therefore, a behavior that involves a tiny proportion of drivers is one of the key causes of death on the roads. This is an indication that retaining the licenses of drivers involved in drunk driving is not enough to deter drunk driving because some people in this category are still driving even though their licenses have been suspended or revoked. For this reason, it is necessary to adopt more strict measures to deal with the problem. In particular, drunk driving can be prevented through the use of ignition interlock systems and sobriety checkpoints at an individual level while a school based instructional program can help to prevent the problem at a community level. To begin with, drunk driving is a serious menace to Americans on the road, as it contributes to a large number of traffic deaths and injuries. In 2012, for instance, over 10,000 people lost their lives from crashes attributed to drunk driving. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, what was found is that the place matters. Furthermore, what I was able to understand in greater depth is that there are deeply rooted racial issues in the United Statesof America despite the legislation that has been passed to eliminate such issues. In addition, what I was able to dissipate was that the researchers were not able to determine which was more important or prevalent, raceor place in seeking to accomplish health equity. In addition, the controversy was is it race and class or race or class . My conclusion is that it is both. Race is unfortunately reflective of where you live. Despite, the Fair Discrimination Act of 1964 and several laws both state and federal to prevent discrimination in housing it still exists. Housing discrimination affects ones access to activities that can decrease chronic illnesses and the access to good healthcare. I have some thoughts concerning this statement Racial segregation creates different exposures to economic opportunity and to other community resources that enhance health . It can refer to four eight hour days; four ten hour days; or even four twelve to fourteen hour days. However all variations of a four day work week fall under the umbrella term alternative work arrangement. This term refers to any work schedule that varies from the standard five, eight hour work day that the majority of the United States population is used to (Bird 1063). For the purposes of this paper I will be talking about a compressed four day work week, not a shortened four day work week or extended four day work week, this refers to a four hour work week I will be talking about a schedule that consists of four, ten hour days, which is still a full forty hour work week. I will be taking a close look at the benefits and drawback to both the employer and the employee when it comes to working a four day work week. In addition to looking at the benefits to those directly related, the employer and employee, I will also touch on some benefits to those who are indirectly benefited; which refers to the general population. At first glance it would appear to many people that a four day work week is not different than a standard five day work week; after all the same number of hours are being work at weeks end. So, that begs the question why is it that only roughly 960,000 Americans, which is less than 1% of the labor force work a four day work week (Thank God it s Thursday? 74)? ... From this event many lost their homes, vegetation, and brought the great depression to an even worse position. The worst American drought was known as the dust bowl in the 1930 s, many citizens didn t see it coming because they didn t see the signs and for that same reason many suffered. Today California is receiving the same signs that it s coming to a drought, but the citizens don t seem to take it seriously to what the outcome could come too. The people from California need to understand that there has to be something done to preserve more water. Discipline is key to preserve more water, it can all start at home by also being responsible managing how much water you should be using. Each one of the claims will go onto support the overall issue that culture will cause the clash of civilizations. A great support Huntington uses is that no matter what we think of cultures each one is different in many ways. If its religion, language, or different historical backgrounds these will cause conflict to arise. With each civilization being different it can be hard to get along with other people because of how different their views might be. Another issue that arises is that not all, but many civilizations are influenced by the west. This is where the idea of westernization comes into play. Each community is trying to improve and be bigger and better themselves, they are trying to be better than their neighbors. If one civilization improves the surrounding groups will want to be the same. This means they will compete to be the same or even better than the civilization that already made it. This can lead to conflict and death between civilizations. Another reason is that when conflicts arise between civilizations it is a lot harder to resolve than a political or economical one. Like stated before it is very difficult to change someone s beliefs, that means there is very little wiggle room for negotiation. The final example that Huntington writes about is that the economic regionalism is increasing. This means that more cultures and civilization are trading between themselves, but ...
