Compare And Contrast Two Ten Gilded Bronze Statues Of...
In this paper I will be analyzing the two seven feet ten gilded bronze statues of Hercules (from
greek Herakles) created in the 2nd century BCE in dedication to demigod s many
accomplishments. While the two sculptures are extremely similar, they yield minor differences
that distinct them from one another. Hercules was regarded as the strongest greek hero there has
been, but despite his unparalleled strength he appeared and lived like a regular human. While
both statues remained in Rome, one statue was found at the Forum Boarium, the other was buried
under tiles at the Theatre of Pompey with the inscriptions FCS short for fulgor conditum
summanium, meaning it had been struck by lightning. Despite being a product of Roman Art,
the statues were based around Greek models from the 4th century BCE. After its creation it was
displayed at the Forum Boarium in Rome for most of its existence, remains of Roman life point
to the fact that it is was where the cattle market took place. In his right hand he yields a club, his
distinctive symbol alongside the Nemean Lion skin. It is also worth noting that the statue found at
the Forum he does not have a lion skin hanging from his forearm, whereas the one found at the
Theatre of Pompey does. The Nemean Lion skin was the fruit of his first labour composed of three
complicated tasks. First he had to shoot an arrow at the beast and determine the speed at which it
strikes the beast given the angle of elevation and the distance. Second, using a

To The Bone Theory
Everybody has their own opinion of why people encounter personal problems, shaping their belief
of what makes therapy helpful. My theory posits that a combination of individual and systemic
factors produces personal problems. Therefore, to effectively address the multiple sources of a
problem, my theory of helping involves both behavioral and cognitive techniques. Although every
theoryhas limitations, helping professionals nevertheless develop their preferred approach over
time. Since theory is foundation to clinical social work, it is imperative for me to consider and
further develop my knowledge of theory. Individuals experience suffering for various reasons. My

When I realized the multiple sources of my own problems and considered the many causes of
others problems, I cultivated a belief in the multi perspective model. The importance of a
therapeutic relationship became evident during my own counselling experience. I did not sense this
relationship with my counsellor, and therefore, our sessions were ineffective. Additionally, I find
logic in cognitive and behavioral approaches. It is essential to change behaviorally; however, if one
does not also address underlying cognitive distortions, change is incomplete. Observing and
experiencing the power of both cognitive and behavioral treatments helped me to form this theory of

Wilfred Owen Speech
Good morning Turkish citizens, war veterans and fellow Australians, we gather here at this hour
to commemorate the 100 Year anniversary of the Gallipoli Campaign. Those of you out there I
m sure you can agree when I say War is sweet for those who haven t experienced it. , the media
showcasing it to the people as a heroic gesture that generally is executed by people risking their
lives for their country. But it s so much more than that. Some of you out there might disagree, no
no, war is nothing but a little game played by men who want to dish out the hero card, and nothing
more than that. But that s wrong, and let me tell you why. Disabled is a poem made by Wilfred

It runs off sadness, fear and denial. It also brings up a very strong feeling of independence,
demonstrated by the female protagonist. Throughout the first 30 seconds of the video, there s a
transition of her comforting another lady to a picture of her husband, which had the rosary
beads draped on top of it. It s almost a metaphor that represents what she s afraid will come of her
husband on the battlefield, showing the gnawing anxiety that she must have been forced to
endure each passing day. The non diegetic music, which played during the montage, was to
evoke emotion that was especially depressing, and succeeded in many aspects. The instrumental
s purpose is to wash the viewer with saddened feelings to bring them into the same perspective as
the actors in the film; to acquire a level of understanding. As the seconds spanned on, the montage
faded onto into of the reactions of the mothers that were being told of the bad news, and each

others were confused, and many underwent denial. This is exclusively seen in the first woman that
was confronted with the news, in which she outright refused to believe her husband was dead. So

shapes and forms, the families on the camps were also heavily involved in the emotional

The Perspective On Demography And Its Effects On The...
Every aspect on demography comes into play when combined into unison from the perspective of a
person s environment. Factors such as age, ethnicity, gender and class are highly important in
shaping a person s environment, where a different combination is met with a distinct response, thus
placing great emphasis on the understanding of intersectionality through the lens of the sociological
imagination. Through social ecology, intersectionality and the sociological imagination intertwines
together to connect social issues and environmental problems as interrelated, where to solve one
side, the other side can not be ignored. To help protect our environment, we must begin to consider
beyond the industry cultures, but on the combination of all our carbon footprint s effect on the
environment. While equality is important, does all the countries have to reach the standard of
Western societies, instead for Western society to meet the developing countries somewhere in the
middle. Perhaps Eurocentrism is not so great after all when its existence is everywhere. The China
Price provides an excellent example of the consequences of the industrial culture prominent in many
Western countries, in which this culture takes advantage of the poor and marginalized groups for
the economy to prosper, as shown by the abundance of goods made from China. The environment in
many cities are covered with smog due to all the manufacturing and its byproducts going on in
China, and through this means,

Descriptive Essay On A House In Childhood
Driving to Long Prairie, on the right side of the road, up a hill with a long, paved driveway will
be a house to the left. This house is two stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house
had a worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota
weather. At the end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of
the driveway was a large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the
wall was a stairway that leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick
shed further away. Beyond the house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of
trees my grandpa planted when he moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the
overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful
sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and I have aged, grown, and changed
together. Walking up the cracked cement steps, I enter the house through a wood lacquer door.
The smell that first hits my nose is the cigarette smoke from Grandpa. Once inside, to my right,
is the dining room that is typically filled with food and laughter. During the holidays we gather
there and fill our bellies with the food that we have all brought, and stuff ourselves with the
sweets that grandma has baked. To the left as I enter the door is the kitchen which is always
warm from the oven being used constantly with cooks bustling about like bees. If a turkey or
ham was not in the oven, there are cookies or brownies or my personal favorite, rhubarb pie. I
would salivate anticipating the sweet, tart taste to hit my lips, and I would devour it with greed.
Straight ahead of the entrance is the basement door. The basement steps are simply the wood
floor beams that were never completed. The basement was their storage space and where their
appliances were such as their water heater, which gave off a soft hum. The basement had the faint
smell of vinegar because my grandparents liked to pickle, so they had shelves in the basement
cluttered with jars of various things that they pickled. Going back up the stairs and through the
kitchen is the carpeted living room. The far side of the room

Design Strategy For A Skywalk At The Royal Oak Campus
ABSTRACT The design strategy for a skywalk at the Royal Oak Campus entails the use of
ramps and steps rising to 5 meters and ramps having a gradient of 1:10.The skywalk will link the
faculty parking and the college with a 3metres wide ramp,5 meters wide steps and a slab width
of 6500 meters 500metres above the ground level with a building line on each side of 6 meters.
Pedestrians and cyclists will use the proposed Skywalk it will be situated to allow pedestrians to
cross Washington Avenue because there are no nearby roads to necessitate a road for access.
This will let pedestrians cross safely without slowing down the traffic. Upon the approval of the
design proposal, our architect designed a skywalk for Washington Avenue. The designer worked
on this project over the course of seven weeks. The architect interviewed ten people on the
preferred features of the proposed skywalk. A survey was also undertaken on the zoning
information for the city of Washington in order to determine the maximum garage size possible.
The plan designer compiled the clients information as well as the zoning information to determine
the actual size of the parking lot, designed the floor plan and completed the report. The
recommended design for the skywalk, which is a modification of the design found at http:/
/www.aardvark house plans.com. The design provides ample space for pedestrians to walk
through. The skywalk features a two sided walk that can accommodate light traffic of bicycles and

The Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran Essay
The Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran
Over the course of the last century, the Islamic Republic of Iran (formerly known as Persia) has
seen colonialism, the end of a dynasty, the installation of a government by a foreign power, and
just over three decades ago, the popular uprising and a cleric led revolution. These events preceded
what could be considered the world s first Islamic state, as politics and fundamentalist religion are
inextricably linked in contemporary Iran. Looking at Iran from the mid 1940 s until the present day,
one can trace the path that led to the rise of fundamental Islam in Iran in three distinct periods. The
first is that which began with the rise of secular nationalism and the decline of Islam. In ... Show

In a classic case of western countries meddling in the foreign affairs of a sovereign nation for their
own national interests, the American CIA and British intelligence conspired to topple the
democratically elected government in 1953. They succeeded in restoring the exiled Pahlavi dynasty
to power by installing Reza Shah Pahlavi s son, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi as the Shah of
Iran. After taking office, Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi continued and expanded upon a policy of
westernization begun by his father and aggressively repressed Iran s fundamental Islamists to
consolidate his power. The Pahlavi dynasty s restoration fostered anger among the citizens, as
Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was seen as a western puppet and therefore a more contemporary
extension of the humiliating colonialism endured at the hands of the west. Fostering women s
rights, western dress, toleration of alcohol and the suppression of Islamic customs, traditions and
clothing all served to earn him the ire of the general population and Islamic clerics. Milton
Edwards (2006) referred to this accelerated secularism (p. 37) as being part of the erosion of
religious elements in Iran. Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi thought himself loved by the people, but
popular sentiment was against him; and completely behind an exiled Iranian cleric living in Paris
named Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Ayatollah Khomeini had been writing papers

Prince Albert V Strange Case Study
Warren and Brandeis inferred bolster for this conclusion from the case of Prince Albert v. Strange,
I McN. G. 25 (1849): Ruler Victoria and Sovereign Albert made representations of family and
different thing that is being discussed and had them transformed into etchings to be given to loved
ones. In 1849 Interesting distributed an index of the private etchings done by Sovereign Albert and
Ruler Victoria; he had gotten the etchings from a light fingered printer. Albert sued Bizarre to

etchings were private, and not distributed to the world. The court concurred with the Sovereign.
As per them, copyright is not a tool that only employs to protect privacy and very soon courts

The American Evangelical Story By Douglas Sweeney And...
As we have peeled away the layers of what evangelicalism and fundamentalism means throughout
history, especially in our Western culture I am intrigued as to both and their very intense
presence in many of our modern day congregations. Yet, the vast majority of evangelicals around
the world today hail from Holiness, Pentecostal, and charismatic congregations . After visiting
Grace Covenant Church of Austin Texas, much of those aforementioned typical contributions
that have been emphasized in books such as The American Evangelical Story by Douglas
Sweeney and American Apocalypse by Matthew Sutton, I experienced ever present at Grace. As
always, everything is big down in Texas therefore, Grace is no exception. They have a large
campus with several buildings on site as well as golf carts to escort those who need
transportation to each of the different buildings. I must say, as someone who works with youth, I
was impressed as to their commitment to a separate building for those preschool through high
school. At a time when autonomy is so important for a young person, having their own space
seemed quite impressive or I d just say, plain cool. The first thing you notice upon entering the
stadium styled sanctuary, is the focus on the stage; very theatrical. To the left of the stage, there is
a large drop down screen for people to follow along with the lyrics when the singing has begun.

What Is The Similarities Between A Streetcar Named Desire...
The truth is sometimes a very frightening thing. In the stories A Streetcar Named Desire and The
Lady with the Dog both seem to demonstrate dominant men trying to manipulate the women in their
lives. However, only one changed his toxic ways. The author demonstrates through symbolism and
narrating that. While Stanley from A Streetcar Named Desire and Dmitri Gurov from The
Birthmark are comparable in their blatant disrespect for women, they are distinctive concerning
love and willingness to develop. Furthermore, a comparison can be dissected in that both these men
believed women were inferior. One critical character from A Streetcar Named Desire, was Blanche.
Blanche can t manage certain occasions and conditions of her life. Also, instead of facing them, she
withdraws into her very own dreamland making. Blanche has had a really unpleasant life.
Furthermore, withdrawing is her method for dealing with stress. Stanley was an extremely limit,
unpleasant, and definitive. He was not used to Blanche s identity, he disdained her since he felt that

Stanley s behavior was normal in that of an abuser. Wiiliams states, I want my down here. Stella,
Stella! (2175). The viciousness that he executes is thoroughly unusual to Blanche s
understanding. Stanley raped Blanche to halfway demonstrate his prevalence over her. Gurov
was old, so it s shocking to what extent it took for him to understand that women were more than
just objects for him to play with. Chekhov composes, And only now, when he was gray haired,
had he fallen in love properly, thoroughly, for the first time in his life (267). He has changed,
started to see plainly. Presently he isn t a cheater, he can be caring, true, and faithful. That s the
major difference between Stanley and Gurov. Stanley s character seemed to get even worse as the

Everything which exist in this world and all things that we see around us are not as they appear
to us this is the core idea behind plato s theory of forms. From this idea only he moves towards
explaining his world of forms or ideas.
In his book called THE REPUBLIC he tell us that the Good is the end of all endeavour,it is the
object on which every heart is set,so this good according to him has a form, infact all the abstract
ideas like good, justice ,beauty ,love etc has an ideal form according to plato. This form exist outside

In a way it solves the problem of permanence and change.in a way it solves the problem of being
and becoming which has existed in the greek philosophy since long.plato s divided line is a perfect
answer to this problem. It combines both being and becoming and tell us that from becoming we
have to reach upto the being that is real.
We perceive a different world through our mind than we do through the senses. It is the material
world, perceived through the senses and this world changing. It is the realm of forms, which one
sees through the mind, this world is permanent. It is this world that is more real; the world of
change is merely an imperfect image of this world. A form is an abstract property or quality.
Take any property of an object and separate it from that object and consider it by itself, this is a
form. For instance, when we talk of a triangle we say that it is a three sided enclosed figure and
the sum of whose all sides is 180degrees,but have we ever seen a perfect triangle what we have
seen is just a close approximation of an ideal triangle but not an ideal triangle.

Examples Of Tension In Lamb To The Slaughter
Lamb to the Slaughter, by Roald Dahl, is a classic tale of suspense, tension and dramatic irony.
In the novel, on page 2, it says, This is going to be a big shock to you, I m afraid, he said. But I
ve thought about it a good deal, and I ve decided that the only thing to do is to tell you
immediately. And he told her. It didn t take long, four or five minutes at most, and she sat still
through it all, watching him with puzzled horror. This quote is a good example of how the novel
builds suspense and tension because the readers do not know what the character, Patrick, told his
wife, Mary. Before this scene, Patrick was acting different, like something was wrong. The news
he gives his wife upsets her so much that she murders him with a leg of lamb. The author leaving

These differences either added or took away from the story. One way that they are different is that
the dialogue was different. A big and important line from the story is when one police officer says
that the murder weapon is probably right under their noses. This adds a lot of suspense and is a
form of dramatic irony because they were eating the lamb which actually was the weapon. In the
film, the policeman didn t include this line in his dialogue which took away from the movie, but
added to the story. Another way the film and the novel are different is that Mary went through
flashbacks in the movie but not the story. This again took away from the movie because the
director made the film out of chronological order. In this case the reader does not get to to see
Mary s expressions or how she feels which makes the movie less suspenseful and less tense. The
director might have made these changes because the reader already knew what was going to
happen, so they change the film around so it still shows suspense and

The Healing Power of Music Essay

completely alleviate the need for drugs, it s possible that musictherapy could accompany medical

It gives us the chance to feel a sense of order in a life that is so often filled with chaos.
Furthermore, singing can often help someone to come in contact with certain emotions that they
have either been suppressing, or simply could no longer feel. For
Cole 2 example, a song with slow tempo and lyrics about remembering a lost loved one can emit
feelings of deep sorrow or regret, which can be reflected and felt by the one singing, or even
listening to, the music. On the other hand, a more joyous and fast paced song can allow one to
feel more energized and up beat. Aside from emotions, music can also have an impact on mental
illnesses like ADHD, depression, and dementia. To combat depression, Cadena states that music
therapy alleviates pain and promotes calmness by slowing the heart rate and other bodily
functions (2). It provides the patient with a means of escape from the stressful and painful ordeals
of life, and can even encourage them to recover from depression. To help children with ADHD,
music therapy and medications can be used conjointly. Music, Cadena affirms, can provide a

Principal Components Analysis (PCA) versus Principal Axes Factors (PAF) and Other Extraction
Methods
Broadly, conducting factor analysis (FA) allows a researcher to analyze or interpret his or her data
(e.g., measured variables) by reducing those variables into factors or components that underlie the
structure or explain the greatest amount of variance in the data (Thompson, 2004). Thompson
(2004) also tells us that FA may be used for many purposes, the most common of which is to
uncover a relationship between variables, to develop theory regarding the nature of constructs (p.
5), or to evaluate the validity of observed scores. To accomplish this analysis, the researcher uses
statistical software, such as the Statistical Package for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Terminology of Consequence
Before continuing, some basic terminology used in discussion of factor analysis and factor analytic
methods should be clarified. Communality coefficients (h2), according to Thompson (2004), reveal
...how much of the variance of a given measured variable was useful in delineating the factors as a
set (p. 20). Alternately, communality coefficients represent the proportion of that variable s
variance that is explained by the underlying factor. Additionally, the communality coefficient can be
thought of as a lower bound estimate of a score s reliability (Thompson, 2004).

matter if I think they are right or wrong, they will always have authority over me and I have to
respect that.
In the Zondervan bible study of Job, Garland talks about Job s first responses to God s
questionings. David Garland writes, He was of small account that is, he had by his actions
manifested an attitude which was contemptible. (Garland,97) Job had an attitude that s similar to
our when we don t understand what God is doing in our lives. He felt like a coward the moment
that he gave up but he also used that moment when he was feeling low to let God speak to him.
Job recognized God had all authority and Job had to listen.
In this passage, Job taught us to listen to the Lord despite our hurt or our belief that something is
possible. This means that we have to trust in the Lord that his will for our lives will be done.
Because we have to trust Gods authority over our lives, we also have to trust God s love for our
lives. In the book, How to read Job, the authors write,
One of the ways we trust God s wisdom is by refraining from inquiring why God did such a thing
to us, or why he allowed it to happen. (Walton, 136)
The first step to knowing that God loves us is to not get caught up in the pain of our suffering,

Importance Of Depository Receipt Is A Negotiable...
INTRODUCTION
The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through
cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which
has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of
the avenues for the integration of global securities markets.
There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing
implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges
is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a
bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries.
Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global
Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging
economies. In addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other
countries through the DR programme.
There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor
base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the
increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of
higher valuations. From the perspective of investors, cross listing mitigates some

Rationing And Allocation Of Health Care
RATIONING AND ALLOCATION IN HEALTH CARE SCARCITY
Abstract The cost and availability of health care have been the focus of contentious for both public
and political discussion. Even though government and private organization contribute to health
care, costs continue to rise at a rapid pace. The rising costs and the increase in health insurance
premiums making complication to the greatly challenged notion especially in western societies.
Many factors influence the increasing the cost of health care, making different to keep quality for
healthcare resources. Measures have been taken to provide efficient and equitable allocation of
health care resources. Many clinicians taking the ways to impose efficiency to care and a better
monitor the efficiency. However, in retrospect stand alone efficiency improvemnt strategies have
proven to be insufficient.
With the increase in health care rising fast both physicians and administrators face scarcity for
resource. Under these face, relative scarcity the distribution of resources becomes ethical as well as
finanicial issue. When we look through the ethical view it is better to find the answers for the
distribution of resources. Distribution of resources is served with need, equality, contribution,
ability to pay, effort and merit.1
Introduction:
Health care rationing goes by price which means it is for them who can pay for it. When healthcare
is increased it is often viewed for the one who is in need and the facilities are given for a

Personal Narrative-The Injury
The Injury I felt pain. It was a gloomy Thursday night with a teeny breeze. It was about 7:00 pm.
My sister Mia and I were practicing our gymnastics skills in my cold basement with the finished,
yellow walls and the soft, brown carpet. I could hear the thud of the feet against the floor when
she landed her back handsprings, while I watched her. Her hands bounced off the floor like she
was on a trampoline. I thought I want to be able to do a back handspring just like Mia. Mia, can
you help me try to be able to do my back handspring? I asked her. Sure! she replied joyfully. She
got up and showed me how to do it. I can do that. It doesn t look that hard I thought. I stood up
and start warming up my backbends. My hands sunk into the carpet when they touched the
ground. I finished warming up and I was ready to try! Mia put her hand behind my back and
cheerfully encouraged me. Try it! She said merrily. I swing my arms back and do a handstand....

handspring. My hands slipped of the soft, brown carpet while she flipped me over. Silence. For a
few seconds there is no sound. CRACK! I felt pain. My left arm hurt like if someone snapped my
bone in half. That was the only sound in the room. Then screaming and the rushing of my feet
filled the basement with noise. I sprinted upstairs and my dad raced downstairs to see what was
wrong. He laid me on the soft, warm couch. Are you okay? he asked worriedly. No I thought in

The Turn Of The Screw Interpretation Essay
In the equivocal Victorian novella The Turn of the Screw, author Henry James details events
surrounding a tyrannical, oppressive governess as she assumes the care of two seemingly angelic
children and subsequently delves deeply into insanity. Purposefully ambiguous, this story is left
open to numerous interpretations ranging from viewing it as a frightening ghoststory to a tale of
manipulative, inherently evil children. In the psychoanalytic perspective, which follows teachings
from prominent figureheads such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, analysis of the text reveals that
the apparitions were merely hallucinations, viewable only by the protagonist. When reading the
novella with this interpretation, it should also be seen in a satirical manner,... Show more content on

Quint is described as being dressed in somebody s clothes. They re smart, but they re not his
own. This instance is one of doubling, as he is obviously being depicted to be a symbol of the
Uncle who is at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat
of an alter ego with the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The
doubling isn t merely symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen
in the place of the spirits. For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the
window, she duplicates his behavior and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When
Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the
same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by the memory of the specter. The fact that both
women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also be representative of the psychological
fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered social status or class based on her
actions. After all, Mrs. Jessel s association with the valet clearly knocked her down a few steps,
showing how low the current Governess and other Bly residents holds her in their

Research Paper On Berlin Wall
Berlin Wall
Tavian Kounlabout
Could you imagine a large wall being built right in the middle of a city to split it? Well this is
how the Soviet Union and the United States had to deal with during the Cold War. The Cold War
was a broxing War between the Soviet Union and the United States that lasted from 1947 1991.
This paper will be written about the Berlin Wall. I will be writing about why they built and what
they made this out of, people escaping, and why the wall ever actually fell. Well, first of all In
1945, at the end of WWII, Germany and the city of Berlin were divided into four zones, each
controlled by one of WWII s victors. America, France, and Great Britain had west Berlin, also
known as the Federal Republic of Germany, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This wall, was made with barb wire concrete slabs. The wall was first built with just barb wire,
but they wanted to make it higher and taller so they added concrete slabs. It turned out to be
about 11 feet and 9 inches. So this is why the Berlin Wall was built and what it was made out of.
Then, people really didn t like the thought being trapped around a large wall, so people, tried
everything they could to escape. They tried tunnels, tanks, tightropes, parachutes, air mattress,
and some people even tried to swim. Estimates claim that about 5,000 people actually reach the
wall and about 200 dying trying to escape. people were crazy about escaping, they thought this
was horrible. So then that s where it leads us to why the Berlin Wall is falling. The Berlin Wall
was put under lots of pressure and arguing or protesting. Guenter schabowski gave a television
speech which announced that East Germans could cross the wall. The guards didn t believe
anything they said and they were supposed to have orders saying they could cross. The guards
couldn t take it anymore and neither could the people so the border open and they all got
reunited. Huge and large crowds crossed the border within seconds and the wall fell on Nov. 9,
1989. All in all,The history of the Berlin Wall is one of change and spontaneity. It is an important
history to know about, and I hope I have sparked everyone s

Queen Bee Classifications
The Queen Bee and Her Court
Classification is the action or process of classifying something according to shared qualities or
characteristics. In The Queen Bee and Her Court Rosalind Wiseman talked about classifying high
school cliques. These classifications are: The Queen Bee, Sidekick, Banker, Floater, Torn
Bystander, Pleaser/Wannabe/Messenger, and Target. The Queen Beeis the ringleader of this clique.
She is the one who tells everyone what to do and she is not intimidated by anyone. The Sidekick
is a pushover. The Banker is extremely secretive. The Floater spends time with any and everyone
in the school. The Torn Bystander is not good at saying no to her friends. The Pleaser/Wannabe

My classifications on people are both negative and positive. My negative classifications are: all
caucasians are snobby, rich, and selfish, all blonde women are dumb, and only anorexic women

Rough Draft
The Realization of One s Importance What is the purpose of life? Some may say life is about
having fun and making lots of money. Others may say that life is about having a family and a
good job. Life is described to be in your own hands. There is no one telling you how to live your
own life, and that is the joy about it. Even when discussing life, one has to think about what is
important to themselves. People are described by their morals and how they view this idea of
life. Others will disagree, having their own views and opinions. As in the story A Long Way Gone:

different slides I would be enjoying and all of the laser tag I would be partaking in. My entire
family and I could not wait until the next day to depart on our journey to the Dells and just get
away from everything and enjoy ourselves. During the late hours of the night, everything
changed. It was in the middle of the night. My family was all asleep in their respective homes. I
was sound asleep in my bed when I heard the phone ring. I woke up from the ringing, but thought
nothing of it because my dad had always gotten alarm calls in the middle of the night for his

The Reformation Of The Nineteenth Century
The sixteenth century is a period that will be highly remembered by many. The Catholic Church
was coming under heavy fire for its need to reform. And the Reformation acted as a catalyst for
change, bringing an unforeseen end to the influence of the Roman Catholic Church. Stemming
from the Renaissance with the growth of individualism and the scholarly search of what constituted
to the original Christianity place the church under heavy scrutiny. The sixteenth century gave rise
to a medieval church in crisis; many reformers dismissed the claims of the pope as a supreme
being over kings had spiritual authority over Western Christendom. Most theologians argued about
the growing greed of the church and the lack of educated and spiritual clergy men. The reformation
which is undeniably the dramatic event of the sixteenth century started in Germany and swiftly
spread throughout Europe. The reformation began as a result the delinquency of the church to
mend its ways. As a result of the growing problems in the Church there was starting to be a new
outlook of what the desired Church of God should model. The reformation began because of one s
man bold and cunning way to fix the problems of the church. Upon his own introspection he was
growing dissatisfied with the actions of the church and had aimed to allow the church to see the
problems they were having. Martin Luther, a German Augustinian monk, penned the Ninety Five
theses. The Ninety Five theses explicitly expressed his

Religion and Morality
RELIGION AND MORALITY
(i)Examine the views of scholars concerning the idea that religion and morality are linked. In this
essay I am going to be looking at all the different view points on why some people may think
religion and morality are linked. I will talk about a few things that link them such as conscience,
divine command ethics, Kant s view and Aquinas view. Many people believe that moralityis based
upon religion and the rules written in the Bible and other holy books, although some say that
religion is completely opposed to morality and it is wrong to mix the two.
Some scholars believe there are three views on the relationship between religion and morality, one
of them being that morality depends on religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moral opinions are judged against religious teachings.
Even secular society adopts or is influenced by religious moral teachings, for example, it seeks
guidance from religious leaders in moral matters such as genetic engineering/abortion.
In conclusion the strongest view to me is Social Conditioning, in which morality is independent of
religion. I believe that peoples morality comes from the environment that they are brought up in,
and the people around them such as parents and teachers. From a very young age we are taught
what is right and wrong, and grow up respecting the law and people around us more than God.
(ii)Comment on the view that religion and morality are not linked. Euthyphro s Dilemma was
that the problem of whether something is good because God commands it, or does God
command that which is good. Do that God s love that which is holy, or is it holy because it is
loved by the God s Plato.
Almost all Christians will say something is good because God says so, his commands must be
obeyed. A Christian s dilemma is that either good is a whim or good is something that dictates to
God. So if a Christian interprets that it is God s will to murder, they think they are justified
because it is God s choice.
A.C Grayling believes that religious morality is irrelevant to modern society because what people
value has changed. He thinks that modern morality includes a great concern for human rights,

Utopia Vision Statement
When I first began college, I knew that I wanted to major in civil engineering; However,
knowing that my major would take up all of my units after finishing the general education
classes, I knew that I could not afford to take any extra classes, to explore and expand my own
curiosity and knowledge of what is available. Instead, I decided to invest my academic career
focusing on engineering. As freshman students began college, many students asked themselves
that oh so common and over beaten life question what is the point of college?, while others
wondered if it was it a place to explore and discover more about one s self. Well now, thanks to
Kwame Anthony Appiah, who teaches philosophy at N.Y.U. and wrote an article What Is the
Point of College?, he explains two visions which are Utility U. and Utopia U. as well as the
habits students possess at the start of college. As students first enter the college world they go
through what is known as, Utility and/or Utopia vision; However, one vision would be stronger
than the other. A Utility vision is when you want to know if you are getting a profitable return in

responders be included in the memorial at Ground Zero, after Mayor Bloomberg claims there isn t

As Burke eventually does argue that first responders should be included in the memorial, he
makes sure to point out that denying them the privilege of coming to the memorial would deny

not have started his piece by emphasizing the horrors that the first responders voluntarily walked
into. By organizing the piece the way Burke did, it allowed him to shape the reader s viewpoint
of first responders before he even began arguing his point that first responders must be honored
at Ground Zero on the ten year anniversary of 9/11. Another powerful technique that Burke uses
to persuade his audience is he uses quotes. Burke uses quotes from people who were at the scene
of 9/11 themselves. Burke quotes a woman who was descending from the 89th floor who said
When I saw the firemen I knew we would be all right. By using quotes like this, Burke shows the
emotional reinsurance that the first responders gave to the people involved in the attack. By
showing the emotional response to the first responders, it makes the reader clearly see the
importance of the presence of first responders on the scene and the impact they had on the
victims. The first responders altered the emotional atmosphere of the scene. This shows the
significant of the first responders at the scene and how discluding them from the memorial is
atrocious . Quotes worked hand

Essay On Geometry
Is Geometry the Most Fundamental Area of Math?
As the very name implies, Geometry means measuring earth ( Geo meaning earth and metron
meaning measurement). Hence, one can understand how old this branch of Math is and what
importance it should hold among the branches of Math.
What is Geometry?
Geometry is the branch of Math which deals with shapes, sizes, figures and their various properties,
relations and measurements. Doing Geometry with seriousness helps a Math student develop good
mathematical abilities and a precise power of perception.
Origin of Geometry (How old is Geometry?)

Persuasive Essay On Water Pollution
Pollution has had a shocking impact in the atmosphere for including many irreparable damages to
ocean life, serious health issues to human beings, and negative changes to the environment.
Pollution is a man made global dilemma which is increasing to a serious magnitude. Human
beings, the number one culprit, seem to be blind to this matter. Humans inability to clearly see the
problem they are creating, will be one of the causes for the world to be no more.
One of the many kinds of pollution that exist is water pollution. Many threats and dangers to ocean
species from pollution are found in the ocean. Plastic may be the largest threat to water pollution
problems. Other problems may also result from oil spills, sewage spills, and trash. Plastic
products pose the biggest water pollution problem. Items such as bottles and plastic bags that find
their way into the ocean are often mistaken for food by hungry sea turtles, dolphins, whales and
sea birds; killing the ocean animals by suffocation. Those plastics also contain toxic chemicals
which can be dangerous posing a threat to all marine wildlife and also to humans.

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Two Ten Gilded Bronze Statues Of... In this paper I will be analyzing the two seven feet ten gilded bronze statues of Hercules (from greek Herakles) created in the 2nd century BCE in dedication to demigod s many accomplishments. While the two sculptures are extremely similar, they yield minor differences that distinct them from one another. Hercules was regarded as the strongest greek hero there has been, but despite his unparalleled strength he appeared and lived like a regular human. While both statues remained in Rome, one statue was found at the Forum Boarium, the other was buried under tiles at the Theatre of Pompey with the inscriptions FCS short for fulgor conditum summanium, meaning it had been struck by lightning. Despite being a product of Roman Art, the statues were based around Greek models from the 4th century BCE. After its creation it was displayed at the Forum Boarium in Rome for most of its existence, remains of Roman life point to the fact that it is was where the cattle market took place. The importance of a therapeutic relationship became evident during my own counselling experience. I did not sense this relationship with my counsellor, and therefore, our sessions were ineffective. Additionally, I find logic in cognitive and behavioral approaches. It is essential to change behaviorally; however, if one does not also address underlying cognitive distortions, change is incomplete. Those of you out there I m sure you can agree when I say War is sweet for those who haven t experienced it. , the media showcasing it to the people as a heroic gesture that generally is executed by people risking their lives for their country. But that s wrong, and let me tell you why. Disabled is a poem made by Wilfred Owen that outlines the aftermath of war in the perspective of a teenaged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It runs off sadness, fear and denial. It also brings up a very strong feeling of independence, demonstrated by the female protagonist. Throughout the first 30 seconds of the video, there s a transition of her comforting another lady to a picture of her husband, which had the rosary beads draped on top of it. Factors such as age, ethnicity, gender and class are highly important in shaping a person s environment, where a different combination is met with a distinct response, thus placing great emphasis on the understanding of intersectionality through the lens of the sociological imagination. • 6. Descriptive Essay On A House In Childhood Driving to Long Prairie, on the right side of the road, up a hill with a long, paved driveway will be a house to the left. This house is two stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house had a worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota weather. At the end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of the driveway was a large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the wall was a stairway that leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick shed further away. Beyond the house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of trees my grandpa planted when he moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and I have aged, grown, and changed together. Walking up the cracked cement steps, I enter the house through a wood lacquer door. The smell that first hits my nose is the cigarette smoke from Grandpa. Once inside, to my right, is the dining room that is typically filled with food and laughter. During the holidays we gather there and fill our bellies with the food that we have all brought, and stuff ourselves with the sweets that grandma has baked. To the left as I enter the door is the kitchen which is always warm from the oven being used constantly with cooks bustling about like bees. If a turkey or ham was not in the oven, there are cookies or brownies or my personal favorite, rhubarb pie. I would salivate anticipating the sweet, tart taste to hit my lips, and I would devour it with greed. Straight ahead of the entrance is the basement door. The basement steps are simply the wood floor beams that were never completed. The basement was their storage space and where their appliances were such as their water heater, which gave off a soft hum. The basement had the faint smell of vinegar because my grandparents liked to pickle, so they had shelves in the basement cluttered with jars of various things that they pickled. The Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran Essay The Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran Over the course of the last century, the Islamic Republic of Iran (formerly known as Persia) has seen colonialism, the end of a dynasty, the installation of a government by a foreign power, and just over three decades ago, the popular uprising and a cleric led revolution. These events preceded what could be considered the world s first Islamic state, as politics and fundamentalist religion are inextricably linked in contemporary Iran. In a classic case of western countries meddling in the foreign affairs of a sovereign nation for their own national interests, the American CIA and British intelligence conspired to topple the democratically elected government in 1953. They succeeded in restoring the exiled Pahlavi dynasty to power by installing Reza Shah Pahlavi s son, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi as the Shah of Iran. After taking office, Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi continued and expanded upon a policy of westernization begun by his father and aggressively repressed Iran s fundamental Islamists to consolidate his power. The Pahlavi dynasty s restoration fostered anger among the citizens, as Muhammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was seen as a western puppet and therefore a more contemporary extension of the humiliating colonialism endured at the hands of the west. Fostering women s rights, western dress, toleration of alcohol and the suppression of Islamic customs, traditions and clothing all served to earn him the ire of the general population and Islamic clerics. Milton Edwards (2006) referred to this accelerated secularism (p. 37) as being part of the erosion of religious elements in Iran. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for the integration of global securities markets. There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. They re smart, but they re not his own. This instance is one of doubling, as he is obviously being depicted to be a symbol of the Uncle who is at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat of an alter ego with the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The doubling isn t merely symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen in the place of the spirits. For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the window, she duplicates his behavior and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by the memory of the specter. The fact that both women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also be representative of the psychological fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered social status or class based on her actions. After all, Mrs. Jessel s association with the valet clearly knocked her down a few steps, showing how low the current Governess and other Bly residents holds her in their ... Then, people really didn t like the thought being trapped around a large wall, so people, tried everything they could to escape. They tried tunnels, tanks, tightropes, parachutes, air mattress, and some people even tried to swim. Estimates claim that about 5,000 people actually reach the wall and about 200 dying trying to escape. people were crazy about escaping, they thought this was horrible. There is no one telling you how to live your own life, and that is the joy about it. Even when discussing life, one has to think about what is important to themselves. Stemming from the Renaissance with the growth of individualism and the scholarly search of what constituted to the original Christianity place the church under heavy scrutiny. The sixteenth century gave rise to a medieval church in crisis; many reformers dismissed the claims of the pope as a supreme being over kings had spiritual authority over Western Christendom. The reformation which is undeniably the dramatic event of the sixteenth century started in Germany and swiftly spread throughout Europe. The reformation began as a result the delinquency of the church to mend its ways. In this essay I am going to be looking at all the different view points on why some people may think religion and morality are linked. I will talk about a few things that link them such as conscience, divine command ethics, Kant s view and Aquinas view. Many people believe that moralityis based upon religion and the rules written in the Bible and other holy books, although some say that religion is completely opposed to morality and it is wrong to mix the two. Some scholars believe there are three views on the relationship between religion and morality, one of them being that morality depends on religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moral opinions are judged against religious teachings. Even secular society adopts or is influenced by religious moral teachings, for example, it seeks guidance from religious leaders in moral matters such as genetic engineering/abortion. In conclusion the strongest view to me is Social Conditioning, in which morality is independent of religion. I believe that peoples morality comes from the environment that they are brought up in, and the people around them such as parents and teachers. From a very young age we are taught what is right and wrong, and grow up respecting the law and people around us more than God. (ii)Comment on the view that religion and morality are not linked. Euthyphro s Dilemma was that the problem of whether something is good because God commands it, or does God command that which is good. Do that God s love that which is holy, or is it holy because it is loved by the God s Plato. Almost all Christians will say something is good because God says so, his commands must be obeyed. A Christian s dilemma is that either good is a whim or good is something that dictates to God. So if a Christian interprets that it is God s will to murder, they think they are justified because it is God s choice. By organizing the piece the way Burke did, it allowed him to shape the reader s viewpoint of first responders before he even began arguing his point that first responders must be honored at Ground Zero on the ten year anniversary of 9/11. Persuasive Essay On Water Pollution Pollution has had a shocking impact in the atmosphere for including many irreparable damages to ocean life, serious health issues to human beings, and negative changes to the environment. Pollution is a man made global dilemma which is increasing to a serious magnitude. Human beings, the number one culprit, seem to be blind to this matter. Humans inability to clearly see the problem they are creating, will be one of the causes for the world to be no more. One of the many kinds of pollution that exist is water pollution. Many threats and dangers to ocean species from pollution are found in the ocean. Plastic may be the largest threat to water pollution problems. Other problems may also result from oil spills, sewage spills, and trash. Plastic products pose the biggest water pollution problem. Items such as bottles and plastic bags that find their way into the ocean are often mistaken for food by hungry sea turtles, dolphins, whales and sea birds; killing the ocean animals by suffocation. Those plastics also contain toxic chemicals which can be dangerous posing a threat to all marine wildlife and also to humans. According to Oceana, the agency in charge of protecting the world s oceans, the number one pollutant in the North Pacific Gyre is still plastic. Oceana remains unsure of the quantity of plastic in the water. Our need for plastic has harmed innocent little creatures and ourselves as well when we should be searching for safer alternatives instead. The health hazards for humans who come in contact with contaminants from exposure to polluted water can have long term effects on the body causing possible organ failure and death. Contaminants and chemicals such lead and mercury can bring about many minor illnesses ranging from nausea, lung irritation, skin rash, vomiting, and dizziness, to the major diseases that include cancer, liver and kidney damage, disorders of the nervous system, damage to the immune system, birth defects and even death.
