The Evolution of the U.S. Constitution, 1781 – 1789 Essay...
Politics began to play a bigger role in the lives of American colonists during the beginning of a
growing country. After the Declaration of Independence was written in 1776, the country was
challenged with the problem of creating a process for governing the states. The Patriots were
concerned about forming a centralized Parliament, like in Britain, because power was abused by the
wealthy. Initially, the vision was to give states governing authority and leave minimal power to a
national Union. But as the years passed and conflicts arose, there was a need to create a national
government using the U.S Constitution as the blueprint.
The focus of the paper is to learn what led to the formation of the U.S. Constitution. First, it s

The main disagreement was deciding who had the right to vote. Democratic Patriots wanted equal
rights for all free men, even those who were poor. In most states, conservatives disagreed and felt
strongly that poor men should not vote because their vote would confound and destroy all distinctions
and prostrate all ranks to the common level (Lapsansky, 134). As the debate lingered, most free men
qualified to vote because they owned farms, but slaves and women were not given voting rights.
Another debate centered on religious freedom. Most states supported freedom of religion in their
constitution, and with time religious liberty, without the interference of the state, became common
from state to state with the exception of Massachusetts and Connecticut (Lapsansky Werner, Levy,
Roberts, Taylor, 135). The religious controversy was aided with the passage of the Virginia Statute for
Religious Freedom in 1786 which was written by Thomas Jefferson. This was extremely influential
legislation because it became the forerunner of the first amendment protections for religious freedom
(The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, Online). The first constitution of the United
States was called the Articles of Confederation. It was drafted in 1777 and adopted in 1781 by the
same Continental Congress that passed the Declaration of Independence. The scope of the Articles
include thirteen states which were called under the

Black Robes By Moki Summary
In the story, Moki had two visions. The visions had shown him two ways to live. The first with seeds
for tomorrow was a way of sharing. The second was not a way of sharing at all (Burnes). The vision of
sharing had actually happened in real life and in the story itself. The second vision was present, but
did not happen in the end. The Hopi realized that they are able to share the land and the valley, so they
relocate on the top of the mesa. Throughout the short story, Moki s visions represented something that
happened in real life.
In the beginning, the Spanish missionaries, also known as the Black Robes, were resented by the
Hopi, or the People. The People strongly disliked the idea that Spanish settlers and governor took over

In the text, it mentions about the religious dances and ways of the People. Then, the Spanish and
Black Robes came and everything changed. The Spanish were very brutal to the People, but the had
also introduced new plants for cultivation, such as watermelon. The People eventually outlawed the
garden seeds in order to reject their new ways. Like the story itself, this was true. The People had
rejected new influences in order to continue their regular cultural lives. The peace was not settled, so
Pope drove out the Spanish settlers in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. Many lives were lost on both sides;
fields were destroyed; churches and homes were razed. This was like Moki s second vision; not
sharing the seeds. After peace was restored between the two sides, the People tried to return to their
old religious customs, but their old way of life could not be attained. The People eventually moved
atop the mesa where they live today. Like in the story and in real life, the People finally decided to
move out of the Spanishs way. Archaeological findings say that they have uncovered native garden
seeds of squash, melons, and corn that are still able to to grown after

Short Story The Gift Of The Magi
Think about the last time that you opened a present that had been given to you by someone you love.
Did you take a moment to think about what they might have gone through just to give you that one
perfect gift? In the short story The Gift of the Magi , by O. Henry, the couple, Mr. and Mrs.
Dillingham Young sacrificed their most prized possessions for one another. They did this in order to
buy each other nice Christmas presents. Della s most prized possession was her beautiful hair that she
cut off and sold for the money. Jim¹s was his gold watch which he also sold so that he could buy Della
a gift. Della and Jim both sold their favorite things to buy each other something special. Della bought
Jim a platinum chain for his watch. Jim bought Della tortoise shell clips for her hair. Since both had
given up their most prized possessions for each other, the gifts were worthless, but very special in
their eyes. In this short story the author presents a wonderful example of a true love story. It paints a
picture of how true love should be and the sacrifices required to have a relationship like these two
people had. The author O. Henry tells the story of this couple from a narrator s point of view. The
narrator of the short story is the spectator of the events that are occurring between the couple. The
author of this story chose to not uncover in words the sentiments between the couple. The words be
that as it may, are spoken in the couple s activities. The love between

Music Concert Review
Music has been around for centuries and has taken many, unique forms over the past hundreds of
years. Every culture, big or small, has their own different style of music. Music has evolved to become
a fundamental constituent of human life. I have been to many different instrumental performances, but
this was my first concert that I attended since I have been at LSU. The setting of this event was that it
was located at the Union Theatre, and it started at 7:30 pm. The Union Theatre was an amazing venue.
I walked through the front doors and into the lobby of the theatre, where a person was waiting in the
box office to take my money and give me a ticket. When I received by ticket, I was handed a program
and went inside the theatre. The theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first family of instruments was the percussion section. This family caught my attention because I
used to play percussion in high school. They also caught my attention because this family emphasizes
and sets the rhythm of the piece. I really enjoyed the xylophone instrument during this concert because
the xylophone brought out the melodies in each piece. Another family of instruments that caught my
attention was the low brass section. I enjoyed this when the intense moment of a song came on
because the low brass instruments emphasized the dark moments of the intense sections of each song.
This emphasis brought out strong emotions out of me towards the songs. There were 5 guest
conductors during this concert, but each one had their unique style of conducting their songs. All five
conductors wore tuxedos with a white bowtie. When the conductor approached his podium, the band
was stomping their feet to applaud him. He approached his podium and bowed to everyone. These
conductors pointed at a certain family of instruments during a part of a song to emphasize those
instruments to play louder, or softer. The conductors also raised their hands when they wanted the
band to perform a louder dynamic change, or lower their hands when they wanted the band to perform
a quitter dynamic change. I was really impressed about how the band had a lot of respect for the
conductor. The band followed

think it funny to not hear you when you ask for a favor or what notes you were supposed to take while
you took your ten minute bathroom break. NUMBER SIX: If you ever come to my ice cream shop, It

Never Let Me Go Cloning
Cloning is the process of replicating biological tissue and cells, resulting in identical genetic copies. In
recent years, the possibility of human cloning has led to many controversies; these controversies have
become the focus of several novels that include imaginary characters as clones. Written by Kazuo
Ishiguro, the novel Never Let Me Go portrays the life of human clones in a bleak world through the
eyes of Kathy, where the sole purpose of the clones lives is to donate their organs. Clearly, the human
clones are known by all members of the society, but they are not treated with dignity and respect like
other humans. The human clones possess no human rights from the moment of their birth .
Furthermore, the characters struggle with finding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Kathy and Tommy learn the possibility of deferral which allows two clones to delay the
process of donations if they can prove they are truly in love. However, when they go to the home of
Miss Emily, they are told that the deferrals are purely an imagination of the students. Since Tommy
and Kathy are denied, they decide to spend their precious but little time together peacefully; they give
up right away as they have been raised to believe that obeying the guardians is the natural way of
living their lives. Even if they have an opinion how they desire to live, their lives are set out for them
no matter how much they dream (Ishiguro). As an illustration, Ruth, Kathy s best friend, dreams of
being an office worker, though her dream is proven to be shallow and unachievable. By the end of the
novel, Ruth also puts aside the past and her hopes for the future; calmly, she waits for her donations
and completion. In short, the life of the human clones are chosen before they exist, and they have no
choice in how to live and end their

Parable From The Gospel Of Luke
The Christian Scriptures is a very important area of study that allows an individual to further their
knowledge about Jesus Christ and his teachings. After reading the parable from the Gospel of Luke
helped, it helped further each of our understandings by seeing the connection that each of the Gospels
have to each other. According to Powell, a large part of the parables included in the Gospel Luke have
similarities to the Gospel Mark, even though this particular parable is only found in Luke (Powell, pg.
151). This helped each of us learn that all of the Gospels used each others information to portraying
the teachings of Jesus in many different ways. Before this course, many of us had not connected the
gospels to each other, but after learning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
136). While many people will probably overlook the main message of this parable, to our group, we
found that it had taught us to be more aware of those less fortunate around us. Meaning, we act more
graciously with what we have, because we easily take for granted what many people are not blessed
with. One of the most important aspects we took away from this parable is that social status and
material possessions are no guarantee of ones standing with God. The only thing that matters is a right
response to the Word of God. While an individual can sit there and say, Of course I would extend a
helping hand to someone who is suffering , they say this when they already have all of the materials
they need. But, if you were to ask someone to help the poor who were also suffering, a large majority
will say no. A large challenge of life is putting others needs in front of your own, however people who
hold faith in God are always willing to try and help in any way that they can. God has led His people
through the worst and harshest conditions and through the hatred of many people, but His faith was
never waiving. This allows individuals the comfort of knowing that even through the hardest times,
God will be there for you and take care of you, as long as you hold faith in

The government anticipated between seven to eight million dollars in revenue as a result of assessed

difference in the rate of employees leaving a company and new employees filling up their positions.

significant role in the employee turnover rate of a particular company. Such aspects can stem from
both the company as well as the employees. The employers generally give more importance to the

They classified job satisfaction into eight categories: supervision, company identity, kind of work,
amount of work, physical working conditions, co workers, financial rewards, and career future. There
are three major limitations of their study however. First, they subsumed organizational commitment
(company identity) within job satisfaction. Thus, their findings have confounded the effects of job
satisfaction and organization commitment. The second major problem of their study is that some of
their measures had low reliabilities. Low reliabilities of scales make their findings suspect. The last
major limitation of their study concerns generalizability of their findings. In our study, we included
three facets of job satisfaction pay, nature of work, and supervision. First, based on personal

Kroger Pest Analysis
This paper will discuss the macro environment of the Kroger Company. Using the PESTEL analysis
political, economic condition, sociocultural forces, technological factors, environmental forces, legal
and regulatory factors will determine which of the six components of PESTEL are most relevant at
present. The five forces model will decide which of the five forces is giving the company its strongest
competitive pressure. The VRIN test will determine the company s sustainable competitive advantage
by examining their tangible and intangible resources. Conducting a SWOT analysis will show the
company s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats will determine how the company should

At present time, I believe the two most pertinent factors for the Kroger company are sociocultural
forces and environmental factors. According to Orlando,2017, Kroger has formed a partnership with

Chewing Gum Comparison
Contrast to what most people believe, chewing gum is ancient. There has been evidence of man
chewing tree sap as far back as the ancient Greeks. The Greeks used resien from the mastic tree as an
early form of gum. It wasn t until 1848 that John B. Curtis saw the potential of producing gum. His
first product was called State of Maine Pure Spruce Gum. Curtis was not the only one who saw the
potential in gum. Thomas Adams was working with chicle, which is sap from the sophodilla tree, to
use as a substitute for rubber. He eventually gave up and added flavoring to his mixture, creating
chewing gum. In 1871 Adams invented a machine with the sole purpose of producing chewing gum.

many different kinds of gum that can be grouped into three different classifications. Each
classification targets different ages and needs of the consumer. The first classification is bubble gum.
Bubble gum targets the younger generation with its sweet and colorful characteristics. Knowing how
to blow an air bubble in the elastic treat is a trick every child must learn. Chewing gum is meant for
most ages. It have a minty flavor that freshens breath and, in some brands, kills bacteria. The only
downside to chewing gum is that it is not as rubbery as bubblegum, which makes blowing bubbles
difficult. The last classification is medicated gum. Medicated gum can be used to quickly get

Nervous System Analysis
As we do simple actions in our life we start to do them so often that we don t even realize how and
when we are doing them. For example when we get ready to ride a bike we just get on the bike and go,
because we have done it so many times that it just comes naturally to us. Another example is watching
a scary movie and putting popcorn in our mouth at the same time. Well it is our nervous system that
helps us to do these simple actions because it handles information. When our phone rings there are a
number of functions that go on in our brain. The first thing would be our neurons in the auditory
cortex which picks up the sound of the ringing phone, neuron functions are then going to relay the
information to higher areas to process what s going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They supply nourishment to neurons, help remove neurons waste products, and provide insulation
around many axons. The primary role is to shield synapses from the chatter of surrounding neuronal
activity, enhancing the signal to noise ratio in the nervous system. The Neural Impulse uses energy to
send information. The resting potential of a neuron is its stable, negative charge when the cell is
inactive An action potential is a very brief shift in a neurons electrical charge that travels along the
axon. After firing the action potential the channels in the cell membrane that opened now close up.
Some time is needed before they are ready to open and fire again. The absolute refractory period is the
minimum length of time after an action potential, during which another action potential cannot begin.
Special junctions called synapses which depend on chemical messengers. A synaptic cleft is a
microscopic gap between the terminal button of 1 neuron and the cell membrane of another neuron.
The neuron that sends a signal across the gap is called the presynaptic neuron, and the neuron that
receives the signal is called the postsynaptic neuron. The arrival of an action potential at an axon s
terminal buttons triggers the release of neurotransmitters chemicals that transmit information from 1
neuron to another. Most of these chemicals are stored in small sacs called synaptic vesicles. Receptor
sites are tuned to recognize and respond to some neurotransmitters but not to others. When a
neurotransmitter and a receptor molecule combine, reactions in the cell membrane cause a
postsynaptic potential, a voltage change at a receptor site on a postsynaptic cell membrane. They are
graded which means that they vary in size and that they increase or decrease the probability of a
neural impulse in the receiving cell in proportion to the amount of voltage change. An excitatory PSP

Nordic Noir Heroine
With the late 1990s noir women, international audiences were presented with a heroine who relies less
on her sexual performance, and more on other abilities (Wager, 2005, p. 6). This heroine existed
outside of the Production Code and shows more similarities with the revised Nordic Noir heroine. A
vast majority of these late 1990s women were, even though she was less dependent on her sexuality,
still rather attractive. Thus, even with their ability to triumph over the challenges they were exposed
to, their sexuality remained appealing. They seem to have been specifically celebrated and enjoyed as
females, including their pleasant aesthetics, instead of in a way overlooking the fact that the

Jans B. Wager calls her the femme attrapée (2005, p. 4). These women do not resist the patriarchy and
consequently survive the narrative whereas the femme fatale who fights against the male domination
(both socially and economically) ends up losing her life or freedom (Wager, 2005, p. 4). Both her and
the femme fatale remain bound by patriarchal culture and classic film noir clearly delineates the
ambivalent nature of the choices available. The femme attrapée characteristics continue to exist in noir
films today, however often set in the time period of classic noir (Wager, 2005, p. 4). They do not
reflect the postfeminist existence that inhabits Nordic Noir, but moreover contradict, instead of revise,
the Western culture. She seems to exist to show the contrast between her and the femme fatale and
often it is the good girl that seems out of place, not the alluring and dangerous femme fatales. The
femme attrapée conflicts most with female characters in Nordic Noir as she is a female character who
is forced to give up, leaving a gap between desire and reality, whereas Nordic Noir s strong women, as
seen with the femme fatale, refuse to give up no matter how hard the struggle may be. The lack of
women in Nordic Noir that

The Vogue Of The Lady
As Solomon s work explain, the vogue of the lady, as promoted in English advice literature, had a
large impact on American parents intent on training girls to be polished but congenial, obedient as
daughters and future wives among the community. While this study highlights data on Mary Lyon on a
deeper context, their findings also discuses how the mere presence of economic necessity and
religious zeal in the society significantly affected women s academic development. In terms of the
author s evaluation, In the Company of Educated Women outlines a strong narrative on these
dimensions and its relations to women s struggles in access to academia. The discouraging effects
started with English literature. Solomon concluded the early half of 1700s beliefs with a novel from
Samuel Richardson which highlighted two characters: first Pamela, who preserved her virginity which
own her marriage into the gentry, and secondly, Clarissa, who was a proud heroine disobeying her
parents and ending up dead for her mistake. These types of studies implored through the society as
evidence to use education only to a certain extent to sway women s focus towards the marital training.
Of lesser impact, the author also discusses another figure, Eliza Lucas Pinckney who was
accomplished to study freely and helped her father grow her business. She was reminded of her place
as a female, Solomon indicates. Later she was engaged in a speech in which she accepted her husband
superiority and recognized

Facts About Mormons
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Mormon church. The website, Mormon.org, has
a home page that focusses on education and creating an environment for Mormon followers to meet
people of the same faith. Easily accessible from the home page is a link to learn more about the
Mormon religion. Clicking on the link pulls up a new page with more links. Through these links, the
site aims to inform the visitor about what Mormons believe, what books and texts they follow, and the
founding of the religion and church. Each link has title followed by a brief description. For instance,
the link Jesus Christ, Our Savior is followed by the text, Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the (ours

Many websites use this feature to keep a few items in a list. Mormons.org has several sections
throughout and offers answers from other Mormons. The section over the founding of the church tells
the story of Joseph Smith. I have always been aware that Joseph Smith founded the church but I did
not know the story. He was fourteen when he had his revelation. The answer from the site claims he
was praying in the woods when God and Jesus came to him and told him that Jesus had originally
founded The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and that it was now his responsibility to
restore the church. He translated the Book of Mormon throughout the years and was visited by

Stress Management Paper
Stress Management
Lyndsey Brady
November 19, 2017
Stress is something that most people do not think of as something that affects their physical health. In
an anatomy class that I am taking I was able to learn about the hormone cortisol which is the hormone
that helps us handle stress. There is a downside to cortisol though, and this is that it inhibits our
immune system and enhances our chances of getting sick. This is why when you are really stressed for
a big exam, presentation, etc. you start to feel sick because your cortisol is working overtime to
compensate for the extra stress thus leading to a less efficient immune system. Stress can also cause
other wear and tear on your body, too (Krantz, Thorn, Kiecolt Glaser, 2013). According to the
American Psychological Association stress may cause disease, low decision making abilities,
depression and an increased risk of coronary disease (Krantz, Thorn, Kiecolt Glaser, 2013). This is
why taking a look at our lives and thinking about our stress level should be a priority in our lives so
that we can be as mentally and physically healthy as possible.
According to the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale I have a stress level of 390. This score is interpreted
to mean that I have a high or very high risk of becoming ill in the near future (Holmes Rahe, 1967).
This correlates with what I said above about how stress is a major factor in causing illness, whether it
be a simple cold or eventually lead to more

Specific Heat and Latent Heat
Objectives:
The purpose of this lab was to determine the specific heat of a metal as well as the heat of fusion of
ice.
Apparatus: The equipment used in the experiment include: metal cylinder, beaker, triple beam balance,
Styrofoam cup, thermometer and a hot plate.
Theory
The energy required to increase the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1K is referred to as specific
heat, whose SI unit is J/ (kg. K). The specific heat of water, CH2O is 1.000cal / (g. OC) which
equivalent to 4186 J / (kg. K). Consider a cup with mass m, holding water of mass mH2O with initial
temperature of Ti. When a hot metal block of mass ms at 1000C is ... Show more content on

The ice was added continuously until the temperature of the water bath dropped to 100C. The final
temperature, Tf was then measured after the ice had melted completely. The latent heat of fusion of ice
was then computed.
Results
Block number = 13
Mass of Block, ms = 83.3g
Mass of Cup = 5.5g
Measured Temp. of Boiling Water = 99.6 C
CH2O = 1.000cal / (g. OC) = 4186 J / (kg. K).
Table 1: Results for specific heat
Specific Heat of Sample cgs units SI units
Trial # Mass of H2O Initial Temp. Final Temp. cs (cal / (g 0c)) cs (J / (kg 0C))
1 91.8 21.0 C 32.9 C 0.1954 817.94
2 91.8 21.2 C 33.2 C 0.1979 828.41
Average cs = 0.1967 cal / (g 0c)
Average cs = 823.17 J / (kg 0C)
Calculations:
Specific heat of a metal, cs = mH2O cH2O (Tf Ti) / ms (100oc Tf)
For Trial 1: cs = 91.8g × 1.000 cal. / (g. OC) (32.9 21.0) OC / 83.3 (100oc 32.9) OC
= 1092.42 / 5589.43 = 0.1954 cal / (g 0c)
Converting to SI units:
0.1954 cal / (g 0c) × (4186 J / (kg. K). / 1.000cal / (g. OC)) = 817.94 J / kg 0C
For Trial 2: cs = 91.8g × 1.000 cal. / (g. OC) (33.2 21.2) OC / 83.3 (100oc 33.2) OC
= 1101.6 / 5564.44 = 0.1979 cal / (g 0c)
Converting to SI units:
0.1979 cal / (g 0c) × (4186 J / (kg. K). / 1.000cal / (g. OC)) = 828.41J / (kg 0C)
Average cs in cgs units = (0.1954 + 0.1979) = 0.1967 cal / (g 0c)
Average cs in SI units = (817.94+ 828.41) = 823.17 J / kg 0C

The Nation Of Canad A Long Standing Picture Of Equal...
The nation of Canada has strived to be recognized as a long standing picture of equal democratic
rights and freedoms for all. Although mistakes and occasional aberrations do occur, we must always
endeavour to be a nation that promotes equality and shuns discrimination, even if it means changing
our laws in the process. Equality for all is a constitutionally entrenched law and we as citizens,
lawmakers, and judges must uphold the constitution and ensure our nation evolves to demonstrate, in
practice, the intent of words outlined in the constitution. In Vriend v. Alberta, the appellant Delwin
Vriend was working as a laboratory coordinator in Alberta when he was terminated after revealing his
sexual orientation (Vriend v. Alberta, [1998] 1 S.C.R. 493 2). It was well known that Vriend received
positive reviews on his work and throughout the course of his employment he enjoyed the benefits of
his hard work (Vriend v. Alberta 11). However, this all changed when Vriend shared with his
employers that he was homosexual. Due to the fact Vriend refused to comply with the request to leave
his position because his homosexuality offended the views of his employer, he was unceremoniously
terminated solely on these grounds (Vriend v. Alberta 2). Vriend was understandably upset with this
decision and moved to file a complaint with the Alberta Human Rights Commission (Vriend v. Alberta
2). Vriend was informed due to the fact sexual orientation was not included as a prohibited grounds for

DOPAMINE AGONISTS AND IMPULSIVE AND COMPULSIVE DISORDERS IN PARKINSONS
DISEASE PATIENTS AND TARGETED THERAPEUTICS
INTRODUCTION
Dopamine agonists, pharmaceutical drugs utilized to treat motor symptoms of Parkinson s disease
have recently revealed to be strongly associated with the development of adverse pathological
impulsive compulsive disorders (ICD) in Parkinson s disease patients. Parkinson s disease is a chronic
neurodegenerative disorder linked with the loss of dopamine in the substantia nigra within the
midbrain. Dopamine is a salient chemical neurotransmitter which relays signals between adjacent
neurons involved in the initiation and control of voluntary motor movement, mood and behavioural

alcoholism, prior to Parkinson s disease diagnosis (Weintraub et al., 2009).Low dopamine levels in the
substantia nigra not only pose serious implications in the voluntary movement and walking of
Parkinson s disease patients but also in reward processing, motivation and positive emotions.
Impulsive behaviours are described as the inability to resist temptation to carry out certain activities
e.g. compulsive shopping which provide an immediate feeling of satisfaction and gratification for the
sufferer and can lead to adverse financial and social consequences. In contrast, compulsive behaviour
is characterized by an urge to perform certain action (Reference and Reference). Impulsive
compulsive behaviours linked with the use of prescribed dopamine agonists include pathological
gambling, compulsive shopping, punding, binge eating and hypersexuality, while dopamine
dysregulation syndrome(DDS) stems from the compulsive use of levodopa (Raja Bentivoglio,

Among the many great debates that have passed down through the centuries, there is one that has yet

fandoms. While there are those who think Captain Picard would be no match for Darth Vader, it is
finally time to shed some light on the situation; it is time for Star Wars versus Star Trek. I enjoy both
universes equally, but I believe that in a fight Star Trek would win against Star Wars. First, we will

Empire era ships are capable of traveling hundreds of thousands, or even millions of times the speed
of light; compared to Federation era ships, which max out at Warp 9.985, the Empire clearly has the
Federation beat. However, not many people think to question the maneuverability of either universe s
ships. While most ships in Star Wars are faster at interstellar travel, hyperdrive propulsion occurs by
diverting vessels into the sub dimension of Hyperspace. While it may be faster than flying at normal
speeds through space, Hyperspace is essentially a spacial slide. The Empire s ships cannot maneuver
while using hyperdrive; to make course corrections, they first would have to exit hyperspace,
recalculate their course trajectory, and then re engage hyperdrive. Therefore, the Empire would be
unable to engage in combat maneuvers at velocities faster than light, and would be sitting ducks while
adjusting their course. Federation vessels on the other hand, are capable of maneuvers at warp speed.
Just as important, if not moreso, their weaponry is capable of being deployed and traveling at warp

The Pact Essay
The Pact The novel The Pact which was read over the summer by Penn State students was considered
interesting to some and dull to others. I personally enjoyed the book since I could relate to the book in
more ways than one. The story takes pace in an inner city setting with three young men who become
doctors and plan to give back to the community in any way they possibly can. The three young men
are known as Sam, George and Rameck. Each of these characters posses a different personality which
contributes to the book as a whole. Throughout the book I felt connected to one character, that
character was George. George and I share similar qualities and our lifestyles can relate. One major
characteristic I found in George is his ability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He constantly reminded them of the benefits of graduating from college and succeeding in what they
wanted to do. Sam and Rameck might have had other options but their plans would not be beneficial
in the long run. Some of these options included, starting a rap group, selling drugs back in their home
town, and playing basketball. These might have sounded good at first but they would only last for a
certain time. Graduating from college with that degree and helping out those in need was more of a
priority and turned out to be a better plan, the key plan during that time was to follow through with
their higher education. While George and I share same social aspects we also share some personal
aspects with each other. Like George, I was left without a father figure in my life. George s father and
my father left around the same time in our lives, which I find particularly interesting. Our fathers left
when we were between the ages of seven and ten years old. As our fathers left we were looked at as
the man of the house in our household. This might seem like a big responsibility for young boys our
age but, we established ways to make a positive result for ourselves and those affected by the
situation. George tried his best to help his mom out in any way possible. He helped

The Price Of The Stock Market
These sentiments, as so dramatically expressed by an average American day trader, are endemic
among the men and women who endeavor to navigate the daily volatility that roils the markets. As the
demand for instantaneous results and better returns at less cost rises, investors traditional reliance on
stockbrokers is waning, albeit slightly. The resulting stress from this shift in responsibility from the
broker to the individual is not always obvious, but almost certainly inevitable. The stakes seem raised
when any loss or gain comes as a direct result of the investor s own actions. Instability in the markets
often fuels a dizzying ride of ups and downs, and their commensurate emotional highs and lows.
Nevertheless, over the past decade, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1971, the situation improved when America s first virtual stock exchange, or NASDAQ as it is
commonly known, was created. Although its potential was not immediately recognized by the average
American, NASDAQ s implementation created a whole new world of investing for the small investor.
Arguably the most notable of these historical financial changes occurred in 1975, when Washington
deregulated commission rates on brokerage accounts. The Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC) deemed standard commission rates to be illegal, and the result was that discount brokers could
offer reduced commission rates. Prior to the SEC s ruling, commission rates were fixed at one percent.
This shift in power opened a clear pathway for personal financing to develop, as competitive rates
offered investors more options. Since 1975 to the present, the evolution of the markets has quickened
and day trading has taken off, particularly in the last decade. Day trading is now so popular that it has
become a way of life for many Americans and often consumes almost every aspect of daily life.
Although this new found independence may be viewed by many as a good thing, it is hardly
recommended for the faint of heart. The SEC warns that, Day trading is an extremely stressful and
expensive full time job. Day traders must watch the market continuously during the day at their

Tingling and burning sensation in the mouth with or without swelling within a few minutes after
ingestion was considered as oral allergy syndrome. Coughing, dyspnea and wheezing were considered
as respiratory symptoms and, sneezing and rhinorrhea were considered as allergic rhinitis.
Skin prick tests were performed on the forearms using standard commercial extracts of melon and

eggplant and Shiraz grape was also evaluated by PPTs in which the culprits were pricked with a sterile
lancet and then pricked into the skin with the same lancet. Histamine (10 mg/mL) and saline were

Research Paper On Victorianism
Jehanzeb Siddiqui English September 4th 2014 Victorian England Essay Part 1: Victorianism defined
Victorianism is an era which is difficult to understand as it is spread over several periods giving rise to
many events. On one hand it is considered as an era of power and paradox while on the other hand this
era also describes Victorians as confident, socially responsible people having a vision of the world
beyond. The problem of describing Victorianism has also been well addressed by M.H. Abrams in arts
and literature, who himself was a Victorian. Part 2: Victorian Social History Browny was a poor man

provide nature s lovely side within this rocky world and that people should focus on the better side
this world rather than worrying about the darker side. Part 4: Major Literary Figures Thomas Carlyle
had examined the society of the Victorians very carefully and spoke for the Victorians. According to
him, people who were relying on technological innovations can t rely on those innovations only to
lead their lives as these innovations won t lead man, instead spirituality is the main concern of their
lives. He directed people towards spirituality and grabbed their attention through his writings. Either
his readers were repelled by his work or used to like him through his ideas. Later his work emphasized

  • 2. The Evolution of the U.S. Constitution, 1781 – 1789 Essay... Politics began to play a bigger role in the lives of American colonists during the beginning of a growing country. After the Declaration of Independence was written in 1776, the country was challenged with the problem of creating a process for governing the states. The Patriots were concerned about forming a centralized Parliament, like in Britain, because power was abused by the wealthy. Initially, the vision was to give states governing authority and leave minimal power to a national Union. But as the years passed and conflicts arose, there was a need to create a national government using the U.S Constitution as the blueprint. The focus of the paper is to learn what led to the formation of the U.S. Constitution. First, it s important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main disagreement was deciding who had the right to vote. Democratic Patriots wanted equal rights for all free men, even those who were poor. In most states, conservatives disagreed and felt strongly that poor men should not vote because their vote would confound and destroy all distinctions and prostrate all ranks to the common level (Lapsansky, 134). As the debate lingered, most free men qualified to vote because they owned farms, but slaves and women were not given voting rights. Another debate centered on religious freedom. Most states supported freedom of religion in their constitution, and with time religious liberty, without the interference of the state, became common from state to state with the exception of Massachusetts and Connecticut (Lapsansky Werner, Levy, Roberts, Taylor, 135). The religious controversy was aided with the passage of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom in 1786 which was written by Thomas Jefferson. This was extremely influential legislation because it became the forerunner of the first amendment protections for religious freedom (The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, Online). The first constitution of the United States was called the Articles of Confederation. It was drafted in 1777 and adopted in 1781 by the same Continental Congress that passed the Declaration of Independence. The scope of the Articles include thirteen states which were called under the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Black Robes By Moki Summary In the story, Moki had two visions. The visions had shown him two ways to live. The first with seeds for tomorrow was a way of sharing. The second was not a way of sharing at all (Burnes). The vision of sharing had actually happened in real life and in the story itself. The second vision was present, but did not happen in the end. The Hopi realized that they are able to share the land and the valley, so they relocate on the top of the mesa. Throughout the short story, Moki s visions represented something that happened in real life. In the beginning, the Spanish missionaries, also known as the Black Robes, were resented by the Hopi, or the People. The People strongly disliked the idea that Spanish settlers and governor took over their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the text, it mentions about the religious dances and ways of the People. Then, the Spanish and Black Robes came and everything changed. The Spanish were very brutal to the People, but the had also introduced new plants for cultivation, such as watermelon. The People eventually outlawed the garden seeds in order to reject their new ways. Like the story itself, this was true. The People had rejected new influences in order to continue their regular cultural lives. The peace was not settled, so Pope drove out the Spanish settlers in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. Many lives were lost on both sides; fields were destroyed; churches and homes were razed. This was like Moki s second vision; not sharing the seeds. After peace was restored between the two sides, the People tried to return to their old religious customs, but their old way of life could not be attained. The People eventually moved atop the mesa where they live today. Like in the story and in real life, the People finally decided to move out of the Spanishs way. Archaeological findings say that they have uncovered native garden seeds of squash, melons, and corn that are still able to to grown after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Short Story The Gift Of The Magi Think about the last time that you opened a present that had been given to you by someone you love. Did you take a moment to think about what they might have gone through just to give you that one perfect gift? In the short story The Gift of the Magi , by O. Henry, the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Dillingham Young sacrificed their most prized possessions for one another. They did this in order to buy each other nice Christmas presents. Della s most prized possession was her beautiful hair that she cut off and sold for the money. Jim¹s was his gold watch which he also sold so that he could buy Della a gift. Della and Jim both sold their favorite things to buy each other something special. Della bought Jim a platinum chain for his watch. Jim bought Della tortoise shell clips for her hair. Since both had given up their most prized possessions for each other, the gifts were worthless, but very special in their eyes. In this short story the author presents a wonderful example of a true love story. It paints a picture of how true love should be and the sacrifices required to have a relationship like these two people had. The author O. Henry tells the story of this couple from a narrator s point of view. The narrator of the short story is the spectator of the events that are occurring between the couple. The author of this story chose to not uncover in words the sentiments between the couple. The words be that as it may, are spoken in the couple s activities. The love between ... • 5. Music Concert Review Music has been around for centuries and has taken many, unique forms over the past hundreds of years. Every culture, big or small, has their own different style of music. Music has evolved to become a fundamental constituent of human life. I have been to many different instrumental performances, but this was my first concert that I attended since I have been at LSU. The setting of this event was that it was located at the Union Theatre, and it started at 7:30 pm. The Union Theatre was an amazing venue. I walked through the front doors and into the lobby of the theatre, where a person was waiting in the box office to take my money and give me a ticket. When I received by ticket, I was handed a program and went inside the theatre. The theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first family of instruments was the percussion section. This family caught my attention because I used to play percussion in high school. They also caught my attention because this family emphasizes and sets the rhythm of the piece. I really enjoyed the xylophone instrument during this concert because the xylophone brought out the melodies in each piece. Another family of instruments that caught my attention was the low brass section. I enjoyed this when the intense moment of a song came on because the low brass instruments emphasized the dark moments of the intense sections of each song. This emphasis brought out strong emotions out of me towards the songs. There were 5 guest conductors during this concert, but each one had their unique style of conducting their songs. All five conductors wore tuxedos with a white bowtie. When the conductor approached his podium, the band was stomping their feet to applaud him. He approached his podium and bowed to everyone. These conductors pointed at a certain family of instruments during a part of a song to emphasize those instruments to play louder, or softer. The conductors also raised their hands when they wanted the band to perform a louder dynamic change, or lower their hands when they wanted the band to perform a quitter dynamic change. I was really impressed about how the band had a lot of respect for the conductor. The band followed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would like you to know, I don t ever vent about my life, normally I am actually the therapist of my group of friends, meaning that they usually tell me what s wrong with them. Considering that, this is a list that is long in the making. I mustn t hold this in any longer. By the way, If I use the words you or your I am not talking to you directly, I m just talking to a general audience. So, without further ado, my list begins. NUMBER ONE: I loathe it when I have a slushie and I drink all the juice and all I have left is the ice because the ice takes FOREVER to melt and by the time it has melted, I have just given up and thrown it away. People are trying to get to their classes, they don t need you stagnant, in their way having a conversation with your friends about which guy is more attractive. Furthermore, please don t stop right in front of me when I m walking. I might run you over on accident . NUMBER FIVE: If I say something and you think it might be funny to respond with what? I didn t hear you repeatedly to make me repeat myself, I might yell at you. That s not even funny. I just want to know, what kind of person is entertained by that? And depending on the amount of times you make me repeat myself, I might think it funny to not hear you when you ask for a favor or what notes you were supposed to take while you took your ten minute bathroom break. My Education Is the Hope to Achieve My Career Goal Education should consist of a series of enchantments, each raising the individual to a higher level of awareness, understanding and kinship with all living things. It is this maxim that urged me to think higher. Education is the only hope for a person to achieve his career goals. This is what I feel about education, especially about American Education. I want to attain the highest level of education and transcend horizons in the chosen field. After reading the parable from the Gospel of Luke helped, it helped further each of our understandings by seeing the connection that each of the Gospels have to each other. According to Powell, a large part of the parables included in the Gospel Luke have similarities to the Gospel Mark, even though this particular parable is only found in Luke (Powell, pg. 151). While many people will probably overlook the main message of this parable, to our group, we found that it had taught us to be more aware of those less fortunate around us. Meaning, we act more graciously with what we have, because we easily take for granted what many people are not blessed with. One of the most important aspects we took away from this parable is that social status and material possessions are no guarantee of ones standing with God. The only thing that matters is a right response to the Word of God. While an individual can sit there and say, Of course I would extend a helping hand to someone who is suffering , they say this when they already have all of the materials they need. But, if you were to ask someone to help the poor who were also suffering, a large majority will say no. A large challenge of life is putting others needs in front of your own, however people who hold faith in God are always willing to try and help in any way that they can. God has led His people through the worst and harshest conditions and through the hatred of many people, but His faith was never waiving. The absolute refractory period is the minimum length of time after an action potential, during which another action potential cannot begin. Special junctions called synapses which depend on chemical messengers. A synaptic cleft is a microscopic gap between the terminal button of 1 neuron and the cell membrane of another neuron. The neuron that sends a signal across the gap is called the presynaptic neuron, and the neuron that receives the signal is called the postsynaptic neuron. The arrival of an action potential at an axon s terminal buttons triggers the release of neurotransmitters chemicals that transmit information from 1 neuron to another. Most of these chemicals are stored in small sacs called synaptic vesicles. Receptor sites are tuned to recognize and respond to some neurotransmitters but not to others. When a neurotransmitter and a receptor molecule combine, reactions in the cell membrane cause a postsynaptic potential, a voltage change at a receptor site on a postsynaptic cell membrane. A vast majority of these late 1990s women were, even though she was less dependent on her sexuality, still rather attractive. • 21. Stress Management Paper Stress Management Lyndsey Brady November 19, 2017 Stress is something that most people do not think of as something that affects their physical health. In an anatomy class that I am taking I was able to learn about the hormone cortisol which is the hormone that helps us handle stress. There is a downside to cortisol though, and this is that it inhibits our immune system and enhances our chances of getting sick. This is why when you are really stressed for a big exam, presentation, etc. you start to feel sick because your cortisol is working overtime to compensate for the extra stress thus leading to a less efficient immune system. Stress can also cause other wear and tear on your body, too (Krantz, Thorn, Kiecolt Glaser, 2013). According to the American Psychological Association stress may cause disease, low decision making abilities, depression and an increased risk of coronary disease (Krantz, Thorn, Kiecolt Glaser, 2013). This is why taking a look at our lives and thinking about our stress level should be a priority in our lives so that we can be as mentally and physically healthy as possible. According to the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale I have a stress level of 390. This score is interpreted to mean that I have a high or very high risk of becoming ill in the near future (Holmes Rahe, 1967). The Empire s ships cannot maneuver while using hyperdrive; to make course corrections, they first would have to exit hyperspace, recalculate their course trajectory, and then re engage hyperdrive. Therefore, the Empire would be unable to engage in combat maneuvers at velocities faster than light, and would be sitting ducks while adjusting their course. Federation vessels on the other hand, are capable of maneuvers at warp speed. Just as important, if not moreso, their weaponry is capable of being deployed and traveling at warp speed as ... • 28. The Pact Essay The Pact The novel The Pact which was read over the summer by Penn State students was considered interesting to some and dull to others. I personally enjoyed the book since I could relate to the book in more ways than one. The story takes pace in an inner city setting with three young men who become doctors and plan to give back to the community in any way they possibly can. The three young men are known as Sam, George and Rameck. Each of these characters posses a different personality which contributes to the book as a whole. Throughout the book I felt connected to one character, that character was George. George and I share similar qualities and our lifestyles can relate. One major characteristic I found in George is his ability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He constantly reminded them of the benefits of graduating from college and succeeding in what they wanted to do. Sam and Rameck might have had other options but their plans would not be beneficial in the long run. Some of these options included, starting a rap group, selling drugs back in their home town, and playing basketball. These might have sounded good at first but they would only last for a certain time. Graduating from college with that degree and helping out those in need was more of a priority and turned out to be a better plan, the key plan during that time was to follow through with their higher education. While George and I share same social aspects we also share some personal aspects with each other. Like George, I was left without a father figure in my life. George s father and my father left around the same time in our lives, which I find particularly interesting. Our fathers left when we were between the ages of seven and ten years old. As our fathers left we were looked at as the man of the house in our household. This might seem like a big responsibility for young boys our age but, we established ways to make a positive result for ourselves and those affected by the situation. George tried his best to help his mom out in any way possible. He helped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Price Of The Stock Market These sentiments, as so dramatically expressed by an average American day trader, are endemic among the men and women who endeavor to navigate the daily volatility that roils the markets. As the demand for instantaneous results and better returns at less cost rises, investors traditional reliance on stockbrokers is waning, albeit slightly. The resulting stress from this shift in responsibility from the broker to the individual is not always obvious, but almost certainly inevitable. The stakes seem raised when any loss or gain comes as a direct result of the investor s own actions. Instability in the markets often fuels a dizzying ride of ups and downs, and their commensurate emotional highs and lows. Nevertheless, over the past decade, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1971, the situation improved when America s first virtual stock exchange, or NASDAQ as it is commonly known, was created. Although its potential was not immediately recognized by the average American, NASDAQ s implementation created a whole new world of investing for the small investor. Arguably the most notable of these historical financial changes occurred in 1975, when Washington deregulated commission rates on brokerage accounts. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) deemed standard commission rates to be illegal, and the result was that discount brokers could offer reduced commission rates. Prior to the SEC s ruling, commission rates were fixed at one percent. This shift in power opened a clear pathway for personal financing to develop, as competitive rates offered investors more options. Since 1975 to the present, the evolution of the markets has quickened and day trading has taken off, particularly in the last decade. Day trading is now so popular that it has become a way of life for many Americans and often consumes almost every aspect of daily life. Although this new found independence may be viewed by many as a good thing, it is hardly recommended for the faint of heart. The SEC warns that, Day trading is an extremely stressful and expensive full time job. Day traders must watch the market continuously during the day at their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Research Paper On Victorianism Jehanzeb Siddiqui English September 4th 2014 Victorian England Essay Part 1: Victorianism defined Victorianism is an era which is difficult to understand as it is spread over several periods giving rise to many events. On one hand it is considered as an era of power and paradox while on the other hand this era also describes Victorians as confident, socially responsible people having a vision of the world beyond. The problem of describing Victorianism has also been well addressed by M.H. Abrams in arts and literature, who himself was a Victorian.
