Transportation Engineering
Brief study on measurement of spot speed with the help of enoscope for diploma engineering students of civil engineering stream.
Our project is the complete study about both Spot speed studies and Speed delay time survey. This topic is a part of Transportation Engineering. This report helps you to understand this topic in detail. This report will also help you to make project on associated topics in traffic engineering. In spot speed, We discussed regarding various methods available to perform the test, Our team practically performed test and established a speed limit zone near a school. Coming to speed delay time survey, we conducted a survey at a selected stretch and came out with solutions to the problems faced by the vehicle users using that stretch.
Establishment of any new development generates additional trips that may have negative effects on the existing traffic network. To assess the impact of the development traffic on the transport network and to identify reasonable solutions Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) is performed. In the absence of sophisticated travel demand model TIA is carried out manually. In manual process, total trip generated from the development site is estimated by multiplying the trip rate with the development size. In this process the task can be completed very easily, but the accuracy of the calculation depends on the reliability of the trip rates used in the calculation. As Bangladesh does not have standard trip rates, TIA is generally performed by using trip rates obtained from the Institute of Transportation Engineers’ “Trip Generation” report, which is ideal for Western countries. In this research, trip rates of shopping centers in Dhaka city are estimated. This study conducts only for trip attraction rates of shopping centers having different sizes and located at different places (Dhanmondi, Gulshan and Siddheswari) in Dhaka city. In order to do so number of persons and vehicles entering the shopping centers in every fifteen minutes interval during peak periods are counted then converted for an hour. From the survey data, it is found that the trip attraction rates of small shopping centers are much higher than that of medium size shopping centers. Macroscopic model is also developed from the survey data. The macroscopic modelrelates the attraction rates of the shopping centers as a function of the physical features such as gross floor area, number of car parking, number of shops and availability of restaurants(available or not) in the shopping centers.

Innovative Solar Array Drive Assembly for CubeSat SatelliteMichele Marino
The CubeSat satellite is a smart option for reliable and low cost space mission development. Growing
CubeSat performances lead to more extensive nanosatellite application. Currently,
Telecommunication and Earth Observation missions are under development both in single and
constellation configurations. The main targets for the future nanosatellite are: accurate attitude
pointing, high data rate transfer, increased power generation. The on board power/energy availability
reduces or limits the CubeSat performances in terms of processing capabilities, power transmission
and attitude/orbit maneuvers. Following these constraints, the IMT has developed an innovative unit,
named nano-Solar Array Drive Assembly (SADA) for 3U CubeSat, with the aim of increasing the
photovoltaic energy generation (up to an average 35W EOL). It is composed by two independent
Solar Arrays (Wings Assembly) and Rotatory Mechanisms / Logical Unit (SAC – Solar Array
Control). The aim of SADA is to align constantly the two Solar Arrays to the Sun direction, around
one axis. The rotatory system is composed by drive gear sets, stepper motors and slip rings. The high
value of gearhead reduction ratio and two dedicated photodiodes (as solar sensors) allow a fine
pointing accuracy (<5°). Several operation modes are implemented and controlled by the On Board
Computer through the I2C and CAN buses: autonomous (sun detection and pointing), slave or
cooperative. An advanced and smart control algorithm was developed and implemented in the logic
unit. The Solar Array points along the maximum solar flux direction, maximum output speed up to
4°/s (step size 0.004°). A system failure control avoids the thermal and power damaging in case one
or both wings are blocked. SADA is fully compliant with all CubeSat form factor (3U or greater) and
BUS (CSKB – CubeSat Kit Bus). The Solar Wings, during the launch phase, are stowed beside the
CubeSat structure (opposite side faces). The overall thickness is less than 9 mm, compliant to ISIPOD
dispenser. The Logical and Drive unit (SAC), small (90 x 90 x 12 mm) and light (185 gr), is allocated inside the satellite. The Wings are electrically connected to the SAC, by means of two 16 channels
slip rings (1A per contact) for a continuous rotation, without cable saturation. The Alignment
Calibration System assures that the unit runs correctly up to 10 mm of misalignment between the
SAC and the geometric satellite center, along Z direction. The generated power is not handled by
SAC, but by PDU through Standard Molex Connectors. The two wings, stowed during the launch
phase, are deployed in orbit. In order to increase the system reliability, the deployment is based on
two redundant thermal cutter systems. In the final configuration, the 3U CubeSat has two wings, each
one 300 x 300 mm and 36 AzurSpace 3J solar cells.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

Editor's Notes
Traffic detectors are the devices that are used for detecting vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
Experience at signalized intersections.
Different types of traffic detectors have different components. In general, it is comprised of detector, processor/controller, and storage media.
This map shows the Houston Transtar real-time traffic management system. Dynamic traffic assignment to emergency vehicles can significantly shorten travel times for emergency responses.
In summary, quality real-time data are fundamental to modern traffic control and management. A major source for such real-time traffic data is traffic detection systems.
Loop detectors still dominate the installations. This is probably because loops have been commodity-priced while the alternative detectors have not due to the short history of these detectors. As growing demand stimulates production, the per-unit cost of the most promising alternative detectors will begin to fall.

The RTMS requires no maintenance and was proven to be the only multi-zone traffic detector unaffected by any type of weather. The RTMS design has been proven to maintain accurate detection on any road surface type - even gravel roads, in tunnels and on steel bridges, in heavy snow, driving rain, strong winds and scorching desert sunlight. Its installation does not require road closures and its world-wide proven MTBF of 15 years cast it by far as the detector with lowest cost of ownership.
The RTMS is a miniature radar operating in either of two microwave bands, employing the FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) principle. It transmits a low-power microwave signal of constantly varying frequency in a fixed fan-shaped beam. The beam "paints" a long elliptical footprint on the road surface. Any non-background targets will reflect the signal back to the RTMS where the targets are detected and their range measured.
The RTMS range measurement resolution of 2 metres (7 ft.) allows the "slicing" of the footprint ellipse into 32 range-slices. The user can define a number (1 - 8) of detection zones, each consisting of one or more range slices.
The RTMS internal microcomputer controls in realtime 8 opto-isolator relays corresponding to the detection zones. Relay contacts are closed when a target is present within the respective detection zone. The contact-pairs can be connected directly to traffic controllers. In addition, short-term statistical data on each zone are accumulated and transmitted by the RTMS via its serial port. Typically, every 30 to 300 seconds a message containing the Volume, Occupancy, Average Speed and Classification by length data in each detection zone is transmitted.
The long microwave wavelength and the range-measurement capability make the RTMS immune to all weather effects and to most occlusion situations allowing vehicles hidden behind other vehicles to be detected, as shown in the diagram
Some acoustic detectors cover five lanes. There are both active and passive acoustic detectors available on the market.
IR sensors detect the changes of temperature due to vehicle presence. Magnetic sensors transform changes in magnetic field intensity into inductance changes that can be sensed by vehicle detectors such as the 3M™ Canoga™ Vehicle Detector.
Radio Frequency Tag (RF Tag) can be used for Transit Signal Priority (TSP) and Signal Preemption systems.

A GPS data logger can be used to collect a vehicle’s position data periodically. Typically, a GPS data logger comprises of three parts: data storage media, GPS receivers, and power supply devices. It is small and affordable (about $300 in 2004).
Bigger bump is engine and front axle, smaller bump is rear axle
Components:
One or more turns of insulated loop wire wound in a shallow slot sawed in the pavement.
A lead-in cable from the curbside pull box to the controller cabinet.
A detector electronic unit housed in the controller cabinet (can control upwards of 40 loops, but usually less in practice).
Using single loop detector measurements, traffic speed can be estimated using the speed calculation algorithms. This slide shows a snap shot of a real-time traffic information system developed by the STAR Lab.
A snapshot of video detector set up. Currently, most new detector types, including VIP and RTMS, are compatible with loop detector output.
Since VIPs provide more information than just high or low voltage, they can be used for more advanced applications. For example, the STAR Lab developed an algorithm for detecting signal control cycle failures using VIP image sequences. Red-signal enforcement systems based on video images have been available since 1990s.
