The Song Dynasty
My Journal of the Song
Entry# 1: Good day journal, I have ventured further into my research on the Song Dynasty, I have
learned very much about the landscape, geographical features, and much more like some major epochs
of their time and even some quotes directly from some of the people living there. To start the song
dynasty lasted from 960 to 1279 A.D. they lasted 319 years Their climate had a very diverse range,
ranges from tropical in south and subtropical in the north. The terrain is mostly mountains, high
plateaus, deserts in the west, plains, deltas, and hills in the east. (Embry 4). This is what I observed
and mentally noted while I was touring the Song Dynasty. Emperor Taizu began reigning in the year
960. His capital was in Kaifeng. During his 16 years of rule, he instituted successful policies and won
his wars of expansion (Wu 7). This was something that a local had told me about emperor Taizu. He
further on explained to me about his resilience and how he expanded his land with intelligent war
tactics. The Song dynasty was an era of Chinese history that began in 960 and continued until 1279. It
succeeded the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and was followed by the Yuan dynasty (Benn

He said that the method wasn t useful for printing just a few sheets of text, but for a hundreds of sheets
the method was fast and economical (Wu7). I believe this is very interesting because it gives you an

Analysis Of The Poem Pentagram
Pentagram
The simple definition of the term pentagram is a five pointed star whose arms are equal length that is
drawn with a continuous line. Throughout history, this symbol has been used by religions and has
many different meanings.
The Pentagram can be traced back to carvings on stone walls in ancient Mesopotamia, dating these
carvings leads us back to 3500 BC. Many cultures use the symbol for various things.
It is a sign of royalty, representing power sent to the four corners of the earth; it was a sign of
protection, it was the Endless Knot and was a symbol for Truth; knights painted it on their shields, a
reminder of the five virtues they were to follow; Christianity claimed it represented the five wounds of
Christ; it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For me, this means a lot. As well as teaching a young girl about the craft, often referred to as my grand
Witchling, I am guiding my partner on the path to being Wiccan. Knowing the correlation to the
horned God gives me another way to tap into those energies and helps me teach him to focus in the
divine masculine with the use of symbols.
In Modern Pagan/Wiccan practices the symbol is often used interchangeably with pentacle, though
there is a difference. The pentagram has no circle surrounding it and is composed of a single line. It
symbolizes the four quarters or directions, the four elements, the four seasons, and at the top point is
spirit, the fifth element from which all others come.
Satanists use this symbol, surrounded by a circle or not, upside down to represent their relationship
with Satan. They have taken our sacred symbol and twisted it to mean the opposite of what we think
and teach. In our modern age, with the extremes Satanists have gone to so they are noticed and make
an impact on society, the pentagram with the point down represents evil. To most, it means a covenant
with the devil and all that is unholy and against Christianity.
The Latter Day Saints use the inverted pentagram on many of their older buildings, I found this
amazing and since I live in Utah, about an hour from Salt Lake, I visited some of the older churches
and found one downtown that still had the symbol emblazoned above the

Home Depot Financial Analysis
Overview Office Depot, Inc. ( Office Depot ), a supplier of a broad assortment of office products and
business services throughout the United States and worldwide, announced on February 20, 2013 a
merger agreement with OfficeMax, Inc., which will better equip them to compete in the rapidly
changing industry. In fiscal year 2012 alone, Office Depot generated $10.7 billion of revenues from its
products and services, yet industry reviews of this company seem unfavorable. In this FSA Case
Analysis, our team takes a careful look at Office Depot s most recent financial statements; and, using
the FSA spreadsheet, performs an internal environment analysis of its liquidity, solvency, operating
efficiency and capital structure. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What s worse, the primary sources of cash flow from operations were depreciation and assets
impairment instead of net income. The increase in cash flow from investing activities, also in Figure 7,
indicates that although the company continued to make investments in 2012, it had cut the amount
dramatically. As a result, the investments might not be able to fit its needs for sustainable
development. Overall, Office Depot s solvency condition in the past three years has not been
satisfactory. Figure 7: Cash Flow by Activities (in thousands) Operating Efficiency Analysis As a
measure of operating efficiency, Office Depot s ROA was incredibly low. The ROA in 2011 was only
0.8% and went all the way down to 1.9% in 2012, as shown in Figure 8, which demonstrates that
management did a poor job in generating productivity from employing the firm s resources. Figure 8:
Return on Assets Considering that the industry s average ROA was as high as 8.3%, a negative ROA is
not acceptable for most companies. Given its cost of capital was 11.78% in 2012, the ROA of 1.9%
indicates that the earnings of Office Depot was not able to cover its financing cost so that its
performance was far from adequate in 2012. Based on the DuPont Equation in Figure 9, ROA is the
product of ROS and assets turnover, both of which have declined in 2012 for Office Depot. Its assets

The Diary Of Anne Rodway And The Speckled Band
Detective fiction is filled a wide array of characters and plotlines that can be analyzed for cultural
significance and meaning within the literature. I chose to analyze The Diary of Anne Rodway and The
Speckled Band because they were two very different styled stories in their narration, character
development, and plot deliveries. Although they were had various dissimilar aspects, both portrayed
women in a light that put them in an inferior position to men. I wanted to know why classical
detective stories endorse the vision of women being more emotional and having far less intelligence
than men in their abilities to solve a mysterious crime. I became interested in this topic once we
started reading the different texts in class and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kayman describes the literature of female detectives in regards to their relationships, falling in love,
and their ability to gain the trust of others rather than solving crimes through knowledge. This is
evident as he says, Rather than the intellectual, it is, then, the actress whose presence one most feels in
stories of lady detectives during the period: the figure who, with her capacity for disguise, pretense
and deceit, embodies both the cultural stereotype of the promiscuous, mendacious, and hysterical
woman (Kayman 52). While women are viewed with the finesse and the discrete ability to gain the
confidence of others, Kayman never mentioned the success of women detectives nor their capabilities
to solve crimes like the male detectives. He talked far more in depth on Sherlock Holmes and his
unquestioned intellect showing the distinct discrepancy between the two gender portrayals. Kaymen
uses Holmes as an example when he says, the ideal detective required not only the power of
observation and that of deduction but also knowledge , and the pieces of obscure information with
which he is constantly surprising us are often as decisive as any supposedly deductive rigour (50). The
discrepancy seen between the two genders in Kayman s short story was a very influential aspect of my
thinking on this matter because he shows that the women of this literary genre were not seen in the
same respect as

Nt1310 Unit 8 Assignment 1
Shi Et al [13] used a local projection profile at each pixel of the image, and transform the original
image into an adaptive local connectivity map (ALCM). For this process, first the gray scale image is
reversed so the foreground pixels (text) have idensity values of up to 255. Then the image is
downsample to ¼ of each size, ½ in each direction. Next a sliding window of size 2c scans the image
from left to right, and right to left in order to compute the cumulative idensity of every neighborhood.
This technique is identical to computing the projection profile of every sliding window, (i.e. counting
the foreground pixels), but instead of outpiting a projection profile histogram, the entire sliding
window sum is saved on the ALCM image. Finaly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next a black and white transition map is computed by counting the black and white transitions of
every pixel using a horizontal window centered at the pixel in question. The horizontal window has a
size of 3h where h Is the median height of a text line. Like the ALCM method, the transition map is
then binarized in order to expose areas of the document that are likely to be text lines. A cut/max flow
graph cut algorithm is used to split up text areas that appear to encompass more than one line of text.
Figure 11. (a) Handwritten document image. (b) black and white transition map of the image.

More specificcaly [15] Et al proposed a new text line location and separation algorithm for complex
handwritten documents that is based on the application of a fuzzy directional runlength. Intuitively,
the fuzzy runlength at a pixel is how far we can see from standing at the pixel along horizontal
direction, by skipping some foreground pixels until a threshold (20 to 25 pixels). A horizontal fuzzy
runlength map is generated by scanning every row from left to right, and right to left and keeping the
fuzzy runlegth at each pixel. The fuzzy runlength map is then binarized to expose the location of text
items that are part of text lines. Finally using a heuristic approach text items are grouped into text lines

The Anatomical Structure Of Different Organelles
Analyze the anatomical structure of ten different organelles in the cell and their respective functions.
The cell s nonmembranous organelles include the cytoskeleton, microvilli, centrioles, cilia, ribosomes,
and proteasomes. Membranous organelles include the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus,
lysosomes, peroxisomes, and mitochondria.
Organelle Location and function
Cytoskeleton Serves as the cell s skeleton. It is an interior protein system that gives the cytoplasm
quality and adaptability. The cytoskeleton of all cells is made of microfilaments, halfway fibers, and
microtubules. Muscle cells contain these cytoskeletal parts in addition to thick fibers. The fibers and
microtubules of the cytoskeleton frame a dynamic system whose ceaseless rearrangement influences
cell shape and capacity.
Microvilli Numerous cells have little, finger formed projections of the plasma film on their uncovered
surfaces. These projections, called microvilli (solitary, microvillus), significantly increment the
surface territory of the phone presented to the extracellular environment. Likewise, they cover the
surfaces of cells that are effectively engrossing materials from the extracellular liquid, for example,
the cells coating the stomach related tract. Microvilli have broad associations with the cytoskeleton. A
center of small scale fibers hardens each microvillus and grapples it to the cytoskeleton at the terminal
web.

Regulation Of The United States Federal Government
Regulation The way a society functions is strictly based on the type of culture in which they reside in.
A individuals, habits, actions and personality are all shaped, by the infrastructure, rules, and
regulations that they have to abide by while residing in society. It is not to say that these policies are a
negative notion, but they do certainly shape your lifestyle, and your choices in many ways. By taking
a look at regulation it is important to note that, our government has a huge role in the lives of its
citizens it resides over. The United States Federal government has its exercise of sovereignty, in other

Regulation is a major activity at all levels of government. As society becomes more complex,
regulations must grow and evolved to meet the demands of a developing society. Concentrating more
on the role of regulation, it can be noted that it is a system that helps protect individuals from one
another. So from buyers to sellers; from employee to employer; tenants to landlords, and so on.
Regulations is also implemented to alleviate human suffering and promote overall welfare. For
instance, aid in the form of Social Security and to Veterans, natural disaster relief, regulation of
pollution and toxins, as well as temporary assistance for the unemployed. Last, and most importantly
regulation is implemented to minimize and eliminate corruption and abuse of power by government
agencies or officials. (Book Source) Taking into account the terms and ideologies stated above, it is
easily understood why, we as individuals have decided for so many years, to abide by this social
contract with our government. We gain the most benefit from this quid pro quo relationship.
Administrative Law and Regulatory Agencies Since we abide by this social contract, it is important to
understand how this system works for its citizens that it has jurisdiction over. By looking from the
outside in, how our government operates is illustrated by its

Essay on Physics of Bowling
Aside from being one of the most accessible (and best!) sports out there, many aspects of bowling can
be expressed with physics. Achieving maximum power, throwing a hook ball, and getting good pin
action can all be broken down into physics issues and represented with equations. I will cover four
aspects of bowling that can be explained with physics terms and show you how to use this knowledge
to optimize your game.
Gravitational Potential Energy
Depending on the height from which the bowler drops the bowling ball, the ball will have a certain
amount of potential energy. If the bowler bowls with a straight ball, the potential energy of the ball
will not affect their game very much. It will, however, draw attention to the bowler when ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The horizontal kinetic energy that remains after the ball has traveled down the lane is the energy that
will be used to collide with the pins, so the bowler needs to make it count!
The magnitude of the forces exerted in the horizontal and vertical directions can be calculated using
trigonometry. The total magnitude of the force multiplied by the cosine of its angle with the horizon
will calculate the horizontal force. Conversely, the total magnitude of the force multiplied by the sine
of its angle with the horizon will calculate the vertical force.
Friction, Hook Balls, and Direction of Impact
When a bowler bowls with a hook ball, they are taking advantage of friction. A hook ball is when the
ball goes about two thirds of the way down the lane before curving into the pins. Don t bowl against
people who do this, they are usually very good. The lanes are oiled, producing a small coefficient of
kinetic friction. Therefore, it takes a long time and a lot of torque on the ball to cause it to curve into
the pins. The ball accelerates to the left or right as it catches what little friction it can.
The reason most good bowlers bowl with a hook ball boils down to the direction of the collision with
the pins. Throwing the ball straight down the lane, while easy to do, does not distribute the impact
efficiently. Once in a while a straight ball bowler will get lucky and put a

demonstrated that a vegetarian diet made up of specific plant foods can lower cholesterol as
effectively as drug treatment. This analysis was run by scientists at the University of Toronto and St.
Michael s Hospital, who compared a diet of known cholesterol lowering, vegetarian foods to a
standard cholesterol lowering drug called lovastatin. Additionally, vegetarians have shown to lead a
longer life than meat eaters. According to a 30 year research, residents of Okinawa, Japan have the
longest life expectancy in the world due to their low calorie vegetarian diet composed of unrefined
complex carbohydrates, fiber rich fruits and vegetables, and soy. Despite the boundless proven health
benefits, there are profuse concerns that vegetarians do not receive proper nutrition from their plant
sourced diet. This is a common myth, as all essential nutrients are found in plants. Even protein, the
main mineral derived from meat, is obtained from foods such as nuts, seeds, grains, and soy. Lastly, a
plant eating lifestyle will ensure more energy and better mood. A 2012 inquiry randomly split
participants into a three diets: all meat allowed, fish only, and vegetarian no meat. After only two

Emma s Management of Harriet s Affairs in Jane Austen s Emma
In this novel, Jane Austen uses the relationship between Emma and Harriet to highlight the important
issues. She uses Emma s management of Harriet to do this. She creates contrast between Emma and
Harriet, she portrays Emma as beautiful and intelligent though we can still see faults in her
personality. The main fault is her desire to control people and matchmake them. This also raises
issues, including the position of women and Emma s social status, marriage and comedy which is
shown through irony, especially in the relationship between Emma and Harriet.
The first thing we read is Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever and rich . By ... Show more content on

This shows that Austen had views ahead of her time. When Emma hears of Mr Martin s proposal, she
believes that Harriet s status is higher than his, and should refuse the offer when, in fact, this is not
true at all. In this sense, Emma is very naïve and shows how she misjudges situations. Mr Martin is of
a higher social class than Harriet and also has more money. Here Emma is misusing her patronage.
A further theme of the novel is patronage and how Emma abuses it. When Harriet refuses Mr Martin s
proposal, we can see that Harriet realises that she is in no position to do so, but Emma does not realise
this, portraying Emma as being quite ignorant of this issue. Mr Woodhouse Emma s father is satirised
by Austen to be a worrier, and is oblivious to what goes on around him. He, therefore, does not see
Emma s matchmaking and management of people. He is one of the main people of whom Emma
manages. Through this we see that Austen characterises Emma to abuse her own patronage.
The position of women was an issue in Austen s time and is highlighted in this novel. At this time,
women had very much a lower position in society than men but, because of Emma s inheritance and
family history, she is an exception to the rule. With the power this gives her, we see yet another
contrast between Harriet and Emma. Emma s intelligence and Harriet s lack of it is another contrast.

Special Education And The Benefits Of Technology
Special Education and the Benefits of Technology in the Classroom Special Education is a type of
instruction designed to help disabled and gifted children use their full learning abilities. Many special
needs children work in regular classrooms for most of the school day. These students also work with
specially trained teachers for part of each school day. These teachers work with helping them to
overcome their disabilities. These sessions are usually held in a classroom called a resource room. A
resource classroom is usually equipped with materials such as braille typewriters, special computers
and many other useful resources. Since the late 1800 s, technology has changed in many different
ways.
In the 1800 s it was very difficult for people to communicate with each other. People could only
communicate with if they were in person or by mail. The development of the radio began in the 1830
s; and this allowed people to communicate quickly between any two points on land, at sea, and later,
in the sky, and in space.
In 1895, an Italian inventor sent radio signals more than a mile through the air in the form of telegraph
code signals; and in 1901, his equipment transmitted signals all the way from England to Canada. In
1906, Reginald Fessenden was the first scientist to transmit his voice by radio. In the 1920 s, radios
could broadcast comedies, adventure dramas, music, and other kinds of radio programming to peoples
homes.
From radio to television, technology began to

Tattoos And The Tattoo Renaissance
When studying the history of tattoos, pinpointing the first time a tattoo was seen was almost
impossible to do until 1991. An Iceman, named Otzi, was found by German hikers in 1991. Otzi was
found covered with at least 57 tattoos (Huffington Post). This is to show that tattoos have been around
for more than fifty three hundred years. Otzi s tattoos were discovered to be therapeutic and they
consisted of lines and crosses all over the body. The next oldest tattoos were found on the Chinchorro
mummy. Chinchorro s tattoos consisted of symbols and drawings, and were found to be decorative

The media used to portray tattoos as spontaneous, reckless, and drunken moments in one s life. Now
the media writes articles about good resources and how much money is needed to get a good tattoo
(Roberts 155). Even though most middle class working Americans have begun to accept tattoos, the
question in the air is if America as whole accepts tattoos now. By labeling tattoos as garish, outlandish
and having negative connotations, the author suggests that tattoos are still deviant (Roberts 155). For
many people, tattoos can be a form identification, and too others tattoos are actions that will be
marked as deviant behavior. 65% of people who were getting a tattoo, claimed to be worried about
possible employment rejection. Because of this their tattoos were placed in concealed parts of their
body (Roberts 163).
A large percentage of college students have or have thought about receiving a tattoo. There is a
notable correlation between honor students and tattoos. In 2014, data was collected from a small
liberal arts college. The undergraduate population to this college is about fifteen hundred. The findings
of this study are as follow: For both the Honor and non Honors population, more female students had

vs 30%). Parents with tattoos, for either Honor and non Honors students, had an effect on whether or

Narcotic Dressing Methods
Pain is the most predominant symptom experience after an injury and dressing changes only add to the
pain. A method is required to decrease the amount of pain during a dressing change to help promote
wound healing and increase hand function (Guo, Deng, Yang, 2014). Some of the treatments we use
presently in the hospital to decrease pain, such as analgesics, can cause respiratory depression,
decrease blood pressure and other side effects (Guo et al., 2014, p.116). Another treatment used is a

Guo et al. s (2014) states that when analgesics are unavailable, this tool is convenient for nurses to
use. There are many resources necessary to implement virtual reality distraction. The study used many
devices including: a pair of ultra high resolution 3D glasses, headphones, mouse, computer and the 3D
film (Guo et al., 2014). These resources may not be readily available in undeveloped Countries. They
also may have a large cost that some hospitals may not be able to afford. This can be another
limitation in regards to who is able to access the resource. In the future, knowing that a patient s pain
can be relieved by nonpharmacological means will help provide better care. Many patients do not like
taking analgesics in fear that they will become addicted. This method may help alleviate the patients
anxiety since the fear of addiction is not present if they are not taking analgesics. The institution that
the patient is receiving care at may not have the resources needed for virtual reality. However,
knowing that the pain is decreased with virtual reality distraction will allow nurses to adapt this
method to what they have available. For example, allowing the patient to watch television, listen to
music, or play a game on their mobile devise will help distract them during the dressing change.

concerned of the long term and short term effects of having x rays taken because of the radiation that
is exposed. Since the rise of concern, studies have been done to find any type of link between cancer
and radiation from x rays. Specifically, in dental x rays, researchers have been performing studies

that anyone who goes to get dental x rays done should use a lead thyroid shield. On the other hand, a
thyroid cancer specialist, Dr. Leonard Wartofsky argues that with the new technology and scientific

Grande Popular Song
The message that Ariana Grande is trying to convey in the song Popular Song is that you don t have to
have nice things, just be nice to everyone and do things you like to do. In the song it says, And all that
you have to do, is be true to you. This line to me means that you should do things you like to do not
what others are doing and you will succeed. This line ties in to the main message because being true to
you means to do things you like, which is part of the main message. It s not about who you are or your

It is important when employing someone new to create a good working relationship from the

Canada is one of the most respected and stable countries in the world, as they have a large impact on
the international economy of the twenty first century. This means that their ability to remain stable and

investors looking to join in commerce in the Great White North. Canada was influenced by the British

Werner Herzog, Grizzly Man
What are the bounds that bind man to earth? Is it the constant competition for the means of survival?
Or perhaps, is it mother nature that calls for a human to unify with it until death. As a human, I
sometimes question, what is the purpose of my life . It is a constant battle to find the real reason to
why humans inhabit this planet, and in many ways people get lost trying to find the answer. Now in
the 21st century humans have already exploited every resource needed to live a life of domesticity;
this excludes wild nature from daily life and makes it history. But what if somebody decides that the

Page, Clare and Nutbrown (2013) suggest that skills, knowledge, understanding, and capabilities are
central to the quality of provision in early childcare settings. Research has established the connection
between staff qualifications and the quality of the early years provision, alongside the differences in
quality between maintained and private, voluntary and independent (PVI) settings (Robert Holmes,
2012). It is understood that maintained nursery education was originally staffed by early years
teachers, supported by nursery nurses with a level two qualification, and have since been replaced by

It intended to employ an EYP within every children s centre by 2010, full day care settings by 2015
and have all settings move towards an NVQ level three as the minimum required qualification (Jones,
2014). However, it is apparent that this incentive failed as institutions offering EYPS courses are
getting rid of them in favour of the QTS. In addition, the new and revised EYFS published in the 2017
states in each room there need only be one member of staff with a level three qualification whilst half
of all other staff hold a level two (DfE, 2017). The statutory framework s requirements for the
qualifications of staff are identical to that of 2008 (DfE, 2008), allowing half of remaining staff to be
unqualified and level three to be an acceptable level for leadership; suggesting no progress has been
made in the PVI sector for nine years.
Eisenstadt, Sylva, Mathers and Taggart (2013) suggest that EYPS is not comparable to the QTS and
therefore practitioners with the status will not be eligible for teacher pay and conditions (p. 2). As a
practitioner this is demoralising and demotivating as it is suggested that qualified teachers directing
early years practice, with excellent pedagogical leadership, will not only improve quality but raise the
status of the sector and increase professionalism (Nutbrown, 2012), but there is no incentives or

Essay about This Fleeting World
This Fleeting World
This Fleeting World takes about two hundred and fifty thousand years worth of history and compacts
it into a one hundred and twenty page book. I believe Christian did a stellar job of doing so. Although
short, it is very rich in knowledge about how our world came to be. His points are powerful and well
put. This book definitely stands out in all the black and whiteness of history books. This fleeting world
ties the start of humanity, to current life very efficiently.
The moment the earth was made was when history was first conceived. The introduction tells us about
the making of planet Earth, which sets up the scene for the arrival of the Foragers. The history of man

He wanted to capture our attention so we could maybe realize the importance of our prehistory.
Christian s book gives you a better understanding of the order of how the world began to fall in place.
He allows us to know not only what and where, but also when, which is important in understanding
our history. Starting out as Homo Sapiens, human kind has come a long way to become what we are
today.
I believe David Christian backs up his claims exceptionally with information. He creates an
outstanding balance between fact and opinion. His opinions are always backed with reasonings and
fact, which leave us very convinced and satisfied. For example; The emergence of new forms of
radical anti Westernization is merely one reflection of growing resistance to Western values (Christian
88). He then backs up his claim in the next paragraph stating, In 1960 the wealthiest 20 percent of the
world s population earned about thirty times as much as the poorest twenty percent; in 1991 the
wealthiest twenty percent earned sixty one times as much (Christian 88). To prove his point, Christian
applies opinions, facts, statistics, and judgement to stand next to his claims. He is a writer in accuracy,
not just opinion.
David Christian has indeed written a phenomenal book that breaks down our history into satisfactory
proportions. It gives us a better grasp

They liked to keep track of their days, and when to pray for their gods. The calendar was very
important to Aztecs, it was an indicator of when to do a sacrifice; the Aztecs highly valued sacrifices
and rituals for their gods. The Aztecs weren t some messed up people, they were organized, and they
had a clean living style. The Aztecs were knowledgeable, they were skilled at many things and they
had religious idols on the calendar to show how much they value their gods. Their main purpose,
stated above, was to know what day to sacrifice, as they thought of the gods as highly important, and
they thought if no sacrifice is made, the gods will die. The Aztecs needed to be precise at knowing
when to do a sacrifice, they didn t want to make the gods upset if they didn t do their sacrifice on time.
Overall calendars were highly important to Aztecs, and they used calendars in their daily lives,
knowing what day to trade (for merchants), or when to pray was important. Calendars were made out
of stone, they were carved and chiseled. Similar to both the birdcage and the miniature god sculpture,
it took a lot of time and precision. Calendars weren t something to be done fast, it took a lot of time,

Evangelism amongst some generations seem to be declining. Evangelism amongst the Millennial
Generation seems to be exploding. This paper will generate some personal synopsis based upon my
most recent research. It will answer the question by presenting what some churches are not doing, to
bring us to a place of self examination. This is in no way an exhaustive study, but one that is presented
that has caused the writer to take a second look at Evangelism within her own call. Christ has
admonished us in Mark 16:15 Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Finally, it
will conclude with a basic summation on what this writer believes should be the goals of every born

Budget Analysis Essay
Budgeting Assignment
A company s budget serves as a guideline in planning and committing costs in order to meet tactical
and strategic goals. Tactical goals such as providing budgetary costs for daily operations, and strategic
objectives that include R D, production, marketing, and distribution are all part of the budgeting
process. Serving as a guideline rather than being set in stone, the budget is a snapshot of manager s
best thinking at the time it is prepared. (Marshall, 2003, p.496) The budget is a method in which to
reign in discretionary spending, and will likely show variances between what costs have been
anticipated and what costs are actually incurred.

• Forecasts for operating expenses.
• Income, cash, and balance sheet budget statement forecasts. (p.498)
The budget process may start with a sales forecast that describes expected revenues from groups of
products. (p. 485) Total revenues can be calculated based on a number of factors that include both the
product markup as well as a fluctuating commodity price.
As a first step in the budget process, sales forecasting allows for other budgets to be planned on sales
activities. Purchases and production, for example, depend on the forecasted sales and subsequent
inventory levels to be managed. The operating expenses are then budgeted as a result of the sales
budget and expected costs of purchasing and production (materials, labor, manufacturing) as a
measure of Cost of Good s Sold.
The budgeted income statement, cash flows, and balance sheet follow in order. The income budget
relies on the revenue and expense forecast from the operating budget, while the budget cash flows are
planned for financial and investment activities. A final component of the budget process, the projected
balance statement, can be used to tie in all the budgeting dependencies. Once a budget has been
prepared, evaluation can be expected before approval. Budgetary components may require several
iterations before finalizing the organizational budget.

Study of the Mobility and Fall Risks of Elderly Subject...
GOALS AND SUMMARY
The goal of the study was to evaluate and analyze the mobility and fall risks of the elderly subjects.
Precisely, the main objective of the study was to evaluate the decremental effects of aging on a novel
index of mobility, i.e., dynamic stability, and fall risk in an elderly population, and to test for
correlation of vitamin D levels with fall risk and mobility related outcomes (i.e., dynamic stability,
strength, gait parameters, and physical activity).
Mortalities from fall accidents are steadily on the rise for the elderly. In this study, the cause of the fall
risk will be inferred by analyzing the relationship between Vitamin D statuses (deficiency) and how it
relates to mobility and fall risk related outcomes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In most subjects, sun exposure is the primary determinant of vitamin D status, accounting for 80 90%
of the vitamin D body stores. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is synthesized in the skin and found in
fatty fish and mammals, whereas ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) comes from yeasts and plants. Vitamin D
supplements may contain either vitamin D2 or D3. Previously, the two vitamin D metabolites were
considered to have an equal potency, but recent studies have suggested that vitamin D2 may be
inferior to vitamin D3 in the treatment of vitamin D insufficiency [Romagnoli et al. 2008].
Moreover, there are few studies on the effects of vitamin D supplementation on muscle strength and
mobility in older people with low vitamin D status, although a recent study has suggested benefit on
mediolateral sway in participants who had large sway at baseline. Recent investigations have posited a
direct link between vitamin D and skeletal muscle, with a deficiency correlating with muscle atrophy,
decreased strength, functionality, and greater prevalence of falls and fractures. Moreover, this
deficiency is increasingly recognized as a worldwide epidemic [Cando et al. 2011; Holick 2007]
[Girgis et al. 2012] with more than a billion people worldwide deficient in vitamin D [Jannsen 2009].
Apropos to our investigation, only a few studies have objectively measured muscle strength
longitudinally in relation to vitamin D status (i.e., serum 25(OH)D levels) in elderly individuals

My Love Of Education
Many people are on their own route towards what they consider receiving or claiming an education.
Whether it be a formal or informal education, we all approach obstacles that keep us away from a
direction we may have our mind or even our heart set on. In this essay, I will describe my experiences
in which my education has brought me close to losing my temper and self confidence.
I used to groom the knots of her black and white coat that would pile up on her belly. But, one day, I
remember coming across a ball like lump under her skin. I moved it around to see if it bothered her,
but she just lay there with her belly up, waiting for me to finish. The next morning, my dad and I took
her to the vet and found out they were benign tumors, but should be removed before they could turn
into something more serious. My family struggled to find the funds to remove the lumps. My love for
animals, and particularly for my dog, Lyn Yang, quickly turned into dreams of being able to remove
the lumps myself. But at that point, I was helpless. I thought, maybe one day, I d be a veterinarian and
able to rid animals of their problems.
That was the beginning of the dream.
Growing up, I mostly stuck by my parents and they didn t stimulate my interest in animals. Even with
all the time we spent at the vet, I never thought to speak to a veterinarian. What did I know about job
shadowing? I now realize the importance of having real life role models, and someone to speak to
about my goals and aspirations. It s like Sonia Sotomayor said, When a young person, even a gifted
one, grows up without proximate living examples of what she may aspire to become, her goal remains
abstract.
In those days, in my environment, my dream to become a veterinarian gradually diminished. So much
diminished during my teenage years. I found my mind shrinking. I could feel my dream getting
smaller and smaller. Instead of choosing a profession that could drive me, I let me community drive
me instead and it got the best of me.
Life is different when you don t have a dream. I spent a lot of time in the streets. I had this small
minded definition of success, particularly when everyone around me was making fast money. The
slow developing value of an education

Rhetorical Analysis Of Invictus
Invictus Rhetorical Analysis Essay A time of difficulties always comes and goes and it has always
been known to stay strong during those times. This, in many ways, connects to countless people,
including great writers who often describe their difficult times through acting or other forms of
writing. William Ernest Henley was an author who used his challenges to write a poem. This was a
dramatic but motivational poem that heavily used rhetorical devices to describe how he managed
through his darkest times. William Ernest Henley took use of personification, connotation, and
alliteration in the poem Invictus to prove that anyone can overcome obstacles by staying strong and
believing in themselves. For a start, Henley gave human like characteristics to words so he could, in a
way, visually show that the mind should always remain strong in difficult times by using
personification. He dramatically describes that sometimes not everything goes accordingly as he says,
In the fell clutch of circumstance (5). Here, the author makes circumstance seem evil or bad. The
action that he characterized circumstance of doing expresses that challenges can come at the worst
times. Even more, he is describing that circumstance has a fell clutch implying that he went through a
horribly long and dark period. This gives the reader a perspective that occasionally things do not
always go their way. It connects to the theme that difficult times are always thrown at one s way and
that they may not always be prepared for the challenging part of those times. Henley took advantage
of personification once again to relate to his theme. Henley shows his courage through his dark times
by saying, And yet the menace of the years/Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. (11 12) Here, Henley
makes the word year seem mean or cruel. He does this by describing that it is a menace otherwise
implying that it is harsh or cruel. By including that it searches for him, he also indicates that he ran
into difficult times often, but stays optimistic by saying that it found him unafraid. This makes the
reader aware that even though challenges always come up, they should always be courageous, just like
he was. Henley writes that he stayed positive during

Themes Of Big Black Good Man
In the short story Big Black Good Man by Richard Wright there are few different themes that take
place in the story. This story is about an old man, named Olaf Jenson, that was a night porter in a
cheap hotel on the waterfront in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. On one night, Olaf talked to
himself about how there were only three rooms left, and he was going to take a nap because it was
midnight. Before Olaf could take a nap, a big black man came into his hotel looking for a room and a
whore. Within this story, there are three themes that are important, and the themes are judgment, fear,
and suspense.
The first theme in the short story Big Black Good Man is judgment. Since the very first time Olaf, the
hotel clerk, lays eyes on Jim, the biggest, strangest, and the blackest man he d ever seen, he lays
judgment upon him because of how dark and large he was. For a majority of the short story, Olaf
refers to Jim as the black giant. Olaf judged Jim because of his size, how loud he was, and how black
he was, and Olaf assumed he was going to be too violent. Olaf was determined to deny the big black
man a room because of the man s color and size.
The second theme in this short story is fear. Olaf became frightened of Jim the closer he got and the
more he spoke. Jim was about six and a half feet tall, and his voice was very deep. Every time Jim
spoke, he probably shook the entire hotel. These features of Jim frightened Olaf. Olaf wanted to deny
Jim a room to stay, but Jim

married with children (CNN Report..., 2006). His methods of conversion included trauma counseling
as well as catharsis methods and group therapy, only to name a few. In his trauma counseling in men
who had been sexually assaulted in their past, he would coddle them and give them a safe haven by
holding them like children, he would also give them a tennis racket and tell them to hit a pillow and
yell at whomever it was they were angry with (CNN Report..., 2006). His methods not only seem
unorthodox but harming. After this report it was found that Cohen was ... Show more content on

In this case of Cohen s unlicensed practice he does not enhance human development but sets them
back by treating them like children and trying to revert their sexual orientation. He is causing them
pain by not recognizing their feelings and not recognizing that they truly are different and that they

The Effects Of Borderline Personality Disorders
There s a tremendous need to implode the myths of mental illness, to put a face on it, to show people
that a diagnosis does not have to lead to a painful and oblique life. Those are the words of Elyn R.
Sacs, a successful woman who happens to carry a diagnosis of schizophrenia. Mental illness has been
plagued by stigma and misunderstanding throughout history, due to a lack of necessary research by
professionals as well as a lack of education for the public. The disorders which face the most stigma,
both historically and in present times, are the more severe afflictions such as schizophrenia or
personality disorders. However, as time passes, more information becomes known about these
disorders, and thus our perspective of them becomes a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it was initially thought that borderline personality disorder was more common in women, new
data confirms that the prevalence is equal among the sexes. Along with this, research identified high
rates of comorbidity with mood, anxiety and substance use disorders [4]. Patients with BPD have a 50
fold higher rate of suicide than the general population [5 ] (Nelson). However, it was also discovered
within recent history that the prognosis for borderline personality disorder is shockingly favorable, in
contrast with the previous notion that it was chronic and practically untreatable. Over the course of ten
years of treatment, borderline personality disorder has a high rate of remission combined with a low
rate of relapsing symptoms. At a follow up, after sixteen years, remission rates continued to be high,
and recovery rates were moderate (Nelson). One of the most notable processes involved in remission
and recovery is dialectical behavior therapy, which is designed to treat chronically suicidal,
multiproblem patients (Nelson). Thirteen separate trials have been performed to test the effectiveness
of dialectical behavior, making it the most highly researched forms of psychotherapy for borderline
personality disorder. It is also one of the most effective, as not only did participants of DBT report
using three times more skills than those in a control condition, but also their use of skills mediated
decreases in suicide attempts and depression, and an increase in control over anger (Nelson). Despite
being viewed as having a poor prognosis initially, borderline personality disorder can be treated
effectively. While it may be a lengthy

The New Israeli Nation between 1947-1967 Essay
How was the new Israeli nation able to be born, to survive, and to prosper during the period of 1947
1967 despite being surrounded by hostile states? Introduction One of the biggest mysteries of the 20th
century was the sudden creation of the Jewish state. It had been the dream of almost every Jew to have
their own nation in which they would be free from persecution but its very creation appeared to be
beyond human possibility. Almost 6 million Jews been viciously massacred under the Final Solution
Plan of Nazi Germany and the remaining were dispossessed refugees. The small communities in
Palestine faced fierce Arab resentment and British had disallowed any further immigration. Even
when the state was finally declared in May 1948, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the brutal anti Jewish pogroms in Russia in the 1880 s, Jews realized that remaining in Europe
would no longer be an option. As a consequence, they decided to create their own nation state. On of
the first Zionist movements (Zionist; meaning advocates of returning to Palestine) was Hoveve Zion
(Lovers of Zion). The movement originated in Russia in the 1880s. It established several Zionist
towns in Palestine. Eventually, in 1893 the World Zionist Organization was founded by a
correspondent of a Viennese newspaper, Theodor Herzl. He published a pamphlet; known as The
Jewish State in which he argued that since Jews were a nationality without land, they must attain land
in order to construct a nation state. (Mitchell, 2001) At the congress in Basel, Switzerland in 1897, the
World Zionist Movement was established whose goal was to create a homeland for the Jewish people.
Jews throughout the world donated 357 million in US dollars in its first year of existence. After
unsuccessful attempts of negotiations with the Uganda and Argentine governments, they decided that
the Jewish homeland would exist in Palestine. An old religious Jewish community known as the Old
Yishuv had survived in Palestine throughout the rule of the Ottoman Empire and had virtually no
conflict with their Arab neighbors (although there were laws which forbade Jews from building
synagogues higher than mosques). In his book, A History of the Israeli Palestinian Conflict, Mark

Introduction
Accountancy analyses information for a variety of purposes within the business, while finance is to do

Accounting is based on two specific sectors, financial accounting and Management accounting.
Financial accounting
According to Obaidullah Jan, Financial accounting is a system that accumulates, processes and reports
information about an entity s performance (i.e. profit or loss), its financial position (i.e. assets,
liabilities and shareholders equity) and changes in financial position. Every entity, whether for profit
or not for profit, aims at creating maximum value for its stakeholders. The goal of maximum value
addition is best achieved when there is a mechanism to monitor the management and the board of
directors. Financial accounting helps in such monitoring by providing relevant, reliable and timely
information to the stakeholders, (Jan, Financial accounting, 2013).
Financial accounting is the recorded information for external users who are people outside of the
organisation like investors and tax authorities which includes a report at the end of the year on balance
sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, auditors report and director s report.
Management accounting
Whereas according to the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), Management accounting is a
profession that involves partnering in management decision making, devising planning and
performance management systems and providing expertise in financial reporting and control to assist

Instruction was provided in a private home. On November 13, 1852, teacher Samuel Rogers purchased
the home of Zechariah Moreland for $350 to establish the district. The home was located at the corner
of Payne and Saratoga Avenues, northeast of the old oak tree (officially named The Moreland Oak
Tree in August, 1981). It remained the schoolhouse until 1894 when Moreland Elementary School was

A Psychoanalytical Criticism of The Metamorphosis The deeper meaning of The Metamorphosis , by
Frank Kafka, can be interpreted in many ways depending on critical theory is used to examine it. From
a feminist criticism, one can observe how Gregor s dominance as a male diminishes after he becomes
a bug as his sister s strength and role in the family grows stronger. From a biographical criticism, one
can compare and contrast the traits of Gregor and the people around him with that of Kafka s own life
and his relationships. However, the focus of this essay will be applying a psychoanalytical criticism to

Grete, like her mother, obviously cares very much for Gregor and is also terrified by his new
transformation, but unlike her mother, she tries very hard to hide her fear in order to keep feeding and
tending to Gregor s room;
His sister, almost fully dressed, opened the door from the hallway side and looked in uneasily. When
she noticed him under the couch, she received such a fright that, unable to control herself, she
slammed the door again from outside. But, as if regretting her behavior, she immediately opened the
door again, (Kafka).
At the sight of Gregor, Grete succums to her fear and shuts the door after seeing him, but immediately
regrets the decision and feels guilty for seeing her brother hideous creature, if only for an instant.
Insect or not, Gregor is still Grete s brother and she believes that the right thing to do is to keep on
loving him and taking care of him, emphasizing her role as the superego.
The ego is the part of the mind that represents consciousness. It employs reason, common sense, and
the power to delay immediate responses to external stimuli (Storr). When making a decision, the ego
balances out both needs of the id and the superego. In Freud s own words, It performs that task by
gaining control over the demands of the instincts, by deciding whether they are to be allowed
satisfaction, by postponing that satisfaction or suppressing their excitations entirely, (Freud). Being a

My Musical Identity Essay
Writing Assignment 1: My Musical Identity Music, in all its complexity can be seen as a living,
breathing mechanism that has the ability to sink deep down into one s soul and create feelings of awe,
excitement and wonder. Music speaks to and connects people of all cultures, backgrounds and
ideologies, creating a common bond between various members of the human species. When listening
to a beautifully composed piece of music, I myself cannot help but feel connected to the instruments,
the artists and the composer. It has been my experience that music not only helps me learn, but also
helps me grow. From an early age I grew up listening to the sounds of Motown with my dad. He

I was 16 years old when I auditioned to become a part of the show.
The auditions for that season of American Idol took place in East Rutherford, New Jersey at the
Meadowlands Sports Complex on a beautiful day in August of 2006. Thousands of people came in an
attempt to become a star before the eyes of the American public. Everywhere I turned people were
singing and practicing for their chance with the judges. For the majority of the day I stayed with my
mom, who along with a companion of hers drove me to the auditions. The only time I went out on my
own was to quickly explore some areas of the stadium and to practice for a moment.
After waiting for over 5 hours, I finally had my chance to audition for the producers. Unfortunately, I
didn t earn a coveted spot on the show. When the producers didn t call my number, I was devastated. I
cried and asked to be taken home immediately. After that day my love for singing diminished greatly,
and although my recovery of the rejection was rather swift, I never quite regained the desire to be a
musical superstar.
That incident, however painful it was, did not end my love for music. After high school, as I began to
inwardly change, so did my musical preferences. I began to listen mainly to Christian worship music,
and upon doing so I realized I had a love for the art of dance. I find dancing to be such a

  • 2. The Song Dynasty My Journal of the Song Entry# 1: Good day journal, I have ventured further into my research on the Song Dynasty, I have learned very much about the landscape, geographical features, and much more like some major epochs of their time and even some quotes directly from some of the people living there. To start the song dynasty lasted from 960 to 1279 A.D. they lasted 319 years Their climate had a very diverse range, ranges from tropical in south and subtropical in the north. The terrain is mostly mountains, high plateaus, deserts in the west, plains, deltas, and hills in the east. (Embry 4). This is what I observed and mentally noted while I was touring the Song Dynasty. Emperor Taizu began reigning in the year 960. His capital was in Kaifeng. During his 16 years of rule, he instituted successful policies and won his wars of expansion (Wu 7). This was something that a local had told me about emperor Taizu. He further on explained to me about his resilience and how he expanded his land with intelligent war tactics. The Song dynasty was an era of Chinese history that began in 960 and continued until 1279. It succeeded the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and was followed by the Yuan dynasty (Benn 0). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Analysis Of The Poem Pentagram Pentagram The simple definition of the term pentagram is a five pointed star whose arms are equal length that is drawn with a continuous line. Throughout history, this symbol has been used by religions and has many different meanings. The Pentagram can be traced back to carvings on stone walls in ancient Mesopotamia, dating these carvings leads us back to 3500 BC. Many cultures use the symbol for various things. It is a sign of royalty, representing power sent to the four corners of the earth; it was a sign of protection, it was the Endless Knot and was a symbol for Truth; knights painted it on their shields, a reminder of the five virtues they were to follow; Christianity claimed it represented the five wounds of Christ; it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For me, this means a lot. As well as teaching a young girl about the craft, often referred to as my grand Witchling, I am guiding my partner on the path to being Wiccan. Knowing the correlation to the horned God gives me another way to tap into those energies and helps me teach him to focus in the divine masculine with the use of symbols. In Modern Pagan/Wiccan practices the symbol is often used interchangeably with pentacle, though there is a difference. The pentagram has no circle surrounding it and is composed of a single line. It symbolizes the four quarters or directions, the four elements, the four seasons, and at the top point is spirit, the fifth element from which all others come. Satanists use this symbol, surrounded by a circle or not, upside down to represent their relationship with Satan. They have taken our sacred symbol and twisted it to mean the opposite of what we think and teach. In our modern age, with the extremes Satanists have gone to so they are noticed and make an impact on society, the pentagram with the point down represents evil. To most, it means a covenant with the devil and all that is unholy and against Christianity. The Latter Day Saints use the inverted pentagram on many of their older buildings, I found this amazing and since I live in Utah, about an hour from Salt Lake, I visited some of the older churches and found one downtown that still had the symbol emblazoned above the ... • 4. Home Depot Financial Analysis Overview Office Depot, Inc. ( Office Depot ), a supplier of a broad assortment of office products and business services throughout the United States and worldwide, announced on February 20, 2013 a merger agreement with OfficeMax, Inc., which will better equip them to compete in the rapidly changing industry. In fiscal year 2012 alone, Office Depot generated $10.7 billion of revenues from its products and services, yet industry reviews of this company seem unfavorable. In this FSA Case Analysis, our team takes a careful look at Office Depot s most recent financial statements; and, using the FSA spreadsheet, performs an internal environment analysis of its liquidity, solvency, operating efficiency and capital structure. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What s worse, the primary sources of cash flow from operations were depreciation and assets impairment instead of net income. The increase in cash flow from investing activities, also in Figure 7, indicates that although the company continued to make investments in 2012, it had cut the amount dramatically. As a result, the investments might not be able to fit its needs for sustainable development. Overall, Office Depot s solvency condition in the past three years has not been satisfactory. Figure 7: Cash Flow by Activities (in thousands) Operating Efficiency Analysis As a measure of operating efficiency, Office Depot s ROA was incredibly low. The ROA in 2011 was only 0.8% and went all the way down to 1.9% in 2012, as shown in Figure 8, which demonstrates that management did a poor job in generating productivity from employing the firm s resources. Figure 8: Return on Assets Considering that the industry s average ROA was as high as 8.3%, a negative ROA is not acceptable for most companies. Given its cost of capital was 11.78% in 2012, the ROA of 1.9% indicates that the earnings of Office Depot was not able to cover its financing cost so that its performance was far from adequate in 2012. Based on the DuPont Equation in Figure 9, ROA is the product of ROS and assets turnover, both of which have declined in 2012 for Office Depot. Its assets turnover has ... • 5. The Diary Of Anne Rodway And The Speckled Band Detective fiction is filled a wide array of characters and plotlines that can be analyzed for cultural significance and meaning within the literature. I chose to analyze The Diary of Anne Rodway and The Speckled Band because they were two very different styled stories in their narration, character development, and plot deliveries. Although they were had various dissimilar aspects, both portrayed women in a light that put them in an inferior position to men. I wanted to know why classical detective stories endorse the vision of women being more emotional and having far less intelligence than men in their abilities to solve a mysterious crime. I became interested in this topic once we started reading the different texts in class and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kayman describes the literature of female detectives in regards to their relationships, falling in love, and their ability to gain the trust of others rather than solving crimes through knowledge. This is evident as he says, Rather than the intellectual, it is, then, the actress whose presence one most feels in stories of lady detectives during the period: the figure who, with her capacity for disguise, pretense and deceit, embodies both the cultural stereotype of the promiscuous, mendacious, and hysterical woman (Kayman 52). While women are viewed with the finesse and the discrete ability to gain the confidence of others, Kayman never mentioned the success of women detectives nor their capabilities to solve crimes like the male detectives. He talked far more in depth on Sherlock Holmes and his unquestioned intellect showing the distinct discrepancy between the two gender portrayals. Kaymen uses Holmes as an example when he says, the ideal detective required not only the power of observation and that of deduction but also knowledge , and the pieces of obscure information with which he is constantly surprising us are often as decisive as any supposedly deductive rigour (50). The discrepancy seen between the two genders in Kayman s short story was a very influential aspect of my thinking on this matter because he shows that the women of this literary genre were not seen in the same respect as ... • 6. Nt1310 Unit 8 Assignment 1 Shi Et al [13] used a local projection profile at each pixel of the image, and transform the original image into an adaptive local connectivity map (ALCM). For this process, first the gray scale image is reversed so the foreground pixels (text) have idensity values of up to 255. Then the image is downsample to ¼ of each size, ½ in each direction. Next a sliding window of size 2c scans the image from left to right, and right to left in order to compute the cumulative idensity of every neighborhood. This technique is identical to computing the projection profile of every sliding window, (i.e. counting the foreground pixels), but instead of outpiting a projection profile histogram, the entire sliding window sum is saved on the ALCM image. Finaly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next a black and white transition map is computed by counting the black and white transitions of every pixel using a horizontal window centered at the pixel in question. The horizontal window has a size of 3h where h Is the median height of a text line. Like the ALCM method, the transition map is then binarized in order to expose areas of the document that are likely to be text lines. A cut/max flow graph cut algorithm is used to split up text areas that appear to encompass more than one line of text. Figure 11. (a) Handwritten document image. (b) black and white transition map of the image. Reprinted from [14]. Some more advanced methods combine Top down and bottom up philosophy. More specificcaly [15] Et al proposed a new text line location and separation algorithm for complex handwritten documents that is based on the application of a fuzzy directional runlength. Intuitively, the fuzzy runlength at a pixel is how far we can see from standing at the pixel along horizontal direction, by skipping some foreground pixels until a threshold (20 to 25 pixels). A horizontal fuzzy runlength map is generated by scanning every row from left to right, and right to left and keeping the fuzzy runlegth at each pixel. The fuzzy runlength map is then binarized to expose the location of text items that are part of text lines. Finally using a heuristic approach text items are grouped into text lines based on their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Anatomical Structure Of Different Organelles Analyze the anatomical structure of ten different organelles in the cell and their respective functions. The cell s nonmembranous organelles include the cytoskeleton, microvilli, centrioles, cilia, ribosomes, and proteasomes. Membranous organelles include the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, peroxisomes, and mitochondria. Organelle Location and function Cytoskeleton Serves as the cell s skeleton. It is an interior protein system that gives the cytoplasm quality and adaptability. The cytoskeleton of all cells is made of microfilaments, halfway fibers, and microtubules. Muscle cells contain these cytoskeletal parts in addition to thick fibers. The fibers and microtubules of the cytoskeleton frame a dynamic system whose ceaseless rearrangement influences cell shape and capacity. Microvilli Numerous cells have little, finger formed projections of the plasma film on their uncovered surfaces. These projections, called microvilli (solitary, microvillus), significantly increment the surface territory of the phone presented to the extracellular environment. Likewise, they cover the surfaces of cells that are effectively engrossing materials from the extracellular liquid, for example, the cells coating the stomach related tract. Microvilli have broad associations with the cytoskeleton. A center of small scale fibers hardens each microvillus and grapples it to the cytoskeleton at the terminal web. • 9. Essay on Physics of Bowling Aside from being one of the most accessible (and best!) sports out there, many aspects of bowling can be expressed with physics. Achieving maximum power, throwing a hook ball, and getting good pin action can all be broken down into physics issues and represented with equations. I will cover four aspects of bowling that can be explained with physics terms and show you how to use this knowledge to optimize your game. Gravitational Potential Energy Depending on the height from which the bowler drops the bowling ball, the ball will have a certain amount of potential energy. If the bowler bowls with a straight ball, the potential energy of the ball will not affect their game very much. It will, however, draw attention to the bowler when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The horizontal kinetic energy that remains after the ball has traveled down the lane is the energy that will be used to collide with the pins, so the bowler needs to make it count! The magnitude of the forces exerted in the horizontal and vertical directions can be calculated using trigonometry. The total magnitude of the force multiplied by the cosine of its angle with the horizon will calculate the horizontal force. Conversely, the total magnitude of the force multiplied by the sine of its angle with the horizon will calculate the vertical force. Friction, Hook Balls, and Direction of Impact When a bowler bowls with a hook ball, they are taking advantage of friction. A hook ball is when the ball goes about two thirds of the way down the lane before curving into the pins. Don t bowl against people who do this, they are usually very good. The lanes are oiled, producing a small coefficient of kinetic friction. Therefore, it takes a long time and a lot of torque on the ball to cause it to curve into the pins. The ball accelerates to the left or right as it catches what little friction it can. The reason most good bowlers bowl with a hook ball boils down to the direction of the collision with the pins. Throwing the ball straight down the lane, while easy to do, does not distribute the impact efficiently. Once in a while a straight ball bowler will get lucky and put a ... This analysis was run by scientists at the University of Toronto and St. Michael s Hospital, who compared a diet of known cholesterol lowering, vegetarian foods to a standard cholesterol lowering drug called lovastatin. Additionally, vegetarians have shown to lead a longer life than meat eaters. According to a 30 year research, residents of Okinawa, Japan have the longest life expectancy in the world due to their low calorie vegetarian diet composed of unrefined complex carbohydrates, fiber rich fruits and vegetables, and soy. Despite the boundless proven health benefits, there are profuse concerns that vegetarians do not receive proper nutrition from their plant sourced diet. This is a common myth, as all essential nutrients are found in plants. Even protein, the main mineral derived from meat, is obtained from foods such as nuts, seeds, grains, and soy. • 12. Emma s Management of Harriet s Affairs in Jane Austen s... Emma s Management of Harriet s Affairs in Jane Austen s Emma In this novel, Jane Austen uses the relationship between Emma and Harriet to highlight the important issues. She uses Emma s management of Harriet to do this. She creates contrast between Emma and Harriet, she portrays Emma as beautiful and intelligent though we can still see faults in her personality. The main fault is her desire to control people and matchmake them. This also raises issues, including the position of women and Emma s social status, marriage and comedy which is shown through irony, especially in the relationship between Emma and Harriet. The first thing we read is Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever and rich . By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows that Austen had views ahead of her time. When Emma hears of Mr Martin s proposal, she believes that Harriet s status is higher than his, and should refuse the offer when, in fact, this is not true at all. In this sense, Emma is very naïve and shows how she misjudges situations. Mr Martin is of a higher social class than Harriet and also has more money. Here Emma is misusing her patronage. A further theme of the novel is patronage and how Emma abuses it. When Harriet refuses Mr Martin s proposal, we can see that Harriet realises that she is in no position to do so, but Emma does not realise this, portraying Emma as being quite ignorant of this issue. Mr Woodhouse Emma s father is satirised by Austen to be a worrier, and is oblivious to what goes on around him. He, therefore, does not see Emma s matchmaking and management of people. He is one of the main people of whom Emma manages. Through this we see that Austen characterises Emma to abuse her own patronage. The position of women was an issue in Austen s time and is highlighted in this novel. At this time, women had very much a lower position in society than men but, because of Emma s inheritance and family history, she is an exception to the rule. With the power this gives her, we see yet another contrast between Harriet and Emma. Emma s intelligence and Harriet s lack of it is another contrast. Emma has this ... These teachers work with helping them to overcome their disabilities. These sessions are usually held in a classroom called a resource room. A resource classroom is usually equipped with materials such as braille typewriters, special computers and many other useful resources. Since the late 1800 s, technology has changed in many different ways. In the 1800 s it was very difficult for people to communicate with each other. People could only communicate with if they were in person or by mail. The development of the radio began in the 1830 s; and this allowed people to communicate quickly between any two points on land, at sea, and later, in the sky, and in space. In 1895, an Italian inventor sent radio signals more than a mile through the air in the form of telegraph code signals; and in 1901, his equipment transmitted signals all the way from England to Canada. In 1906, Reginald Fessenden was the first scientist to transmit his voice by radio. In the 1920 s, radios could broadcast comedies, adventure dramas, music, and other kinds of radio programming to peoples homes. From radio to television, technology began to ... Anthropology Personal Narrative It all began on July 5, 2015, when my family and I traveled back from Fort Davis, Texas, to our home in Gardendale, Texas, after visiting our family for a Fourth of July celebration. As we entered into Odessa, we noticed vehicles stranded on the interstate that impeded our progress. Irritably, we were forced to stop in the middle of the road. Instantly, the music paused. In frustration, I started switching the stations; nevertheless, all remained silent. After several minutes of scanning dead air, finally the radio connected to the station, 93.3 FM. Now the media writes articles about good resources and how much money is needed to get a good tattoo (Roberts 155). Even though most middle class working Americans have begun to accept tattoos, the question in the air is if America as whole accepts tattoos now. By labeling tattoos as garish, outlandish and having negative connotations, the author suggests that tattoos are still deviant (Roberts 155). For many people, tattoos can be a form identification, and too others tattoos are actions that will be marked as deviant behavior. 65% of people who were getting a tattoo, claimed to be worried about possible employment rejection. This can be another limitation in regards to who is able to access the resource. In the future, knowing that a patient s pain can be relieved by nonpharmacological means will help provide better care. Many patients do not like taking analgesics in fear that they will become addicted. This method may help alleviate the patients anxiety since the fear of addiction is not present if they are not taking analgesics. The institution that the patient is receiving care at may not have the resources needed for virtual reality. In addition, the new and revised EYFS published in the 2017 states in each room there need only be one member of staff with a level three qualification whilst half of all other staff hold a level two (DfE, 2017). The statutory framework s requirements for the qualifications of staff are identical to that of 2008 (DfE, 2008), allowing half of remaining staff to be unqualified and level three to be an acceptable level for leadership; suggesting no progress has been made in the PVI sector for nine years. As a first step in the budget process, sales forecasting allows for other budgets to be planned on sales activities. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is synthesized in the skin and found in fatty fish and mammals, whereas ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) comes from yeasts and plants. Vitamin D supplements may contain either vitamin D2 or D3. Previously, the two vitamin D metabolites were considered to have an equal potency, but recent studies have suggested that vitamin D2 may be inferior to vitamin D3 in the treatment of vitamin D insufficiency [Romagnoli et al. 2008]. Moreover, there are few studies on the effects of vitamin D supplementation on muscle strength and mobility in older people with low vitamin D status, although a recent study has suggested benefit on mediolateral sway in participants who had large sway at baseline. The next morning, my dad and I took her to the vet and found out they were benign tumors, but should be removed before they could turn into something more serious. My family struggled to find the funds to remove the lumps. My love for animals, and particularly for my dog, Lyn Yang, quickly turned into dreams of being able to remove the lumps myself. But at that point, I was helpless. I thought, maybe one day, I d be a veterinarian and able to rid animals of their problems. That was the beginning of the dream. Growing up, I mostly stuck by my parents and they didn t stimulate my interest in animals. Even with all the time we spent at the vet, I never thought to speak to a veterinarian. What did I know about job shadowing? I now realize the importance of having real life role models, and someone to speak to about my goals and aspirations. It s like Sonia Sotomayor said, When a young person, even a gifted one, grows up without proximate living examples of what she may aspire to become, her goal remains abstract. In those days, in my environment, my dream to become a veterinarian gradually diminished. So much diminished during my teenage years. I found my mind shrinking. I could feel my dream getting smaller and smaller. Instead of choosing a profession that could drive me, I let me community drive me instead and it got the best of me. Life is different when you don t have a dream. I spent a lot of time in the streets. I had this small minded definition of success, particularly when everyone around me was making fast money. • 34. Rhetorical Analysis Of Invictus Invictus Rhetorical Analysis Essay A time of difficulties always comes and goes and it has always been known to stay strong during those times. This, in many ways, connects to countless people, including great writers who often describe their difficult times through acting or other forms of writing. William Ernest Henley was an author who used his challenges to write a poem. This was a dramatic but motivational poem that heavily used rhetorical devices to describe how he managed through his darkest times. William Ernest Henley took use of personification, connotation, and alliteration in the poem Invictus to prove that anyone can overcome obstacles by staying strong and believing in themselves. For a start, Henley gave human like characteristics to words so he could, in a way, visually show that the mind should always remain strong in difficult times by using personification. He dramatically describes that sometimes not everything goes accordingly as he says, In the fell clutch of circumstance (5). Here, the author makes circumstance seem evil or bad. The action that he characterized circumstance of doing expresses that challenges can come at the worst times. Even more, he is describing that circumstance has a fell clutch implying that he went through a horribly long and dark period. This gives the reader a perspective that occasionally things do not always go their way. It connects to the theme that difficult times are always thrown at one s way and that they may not always be prepared for the challenging part of those times. Henley took advantage of personification once again to relate to his theme. Henley shows his courage through his dark times by saying, And yet the menace of the years/Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. (11 12) Here, Henley makes the word year seem mean or cruel. He does this by describing that it is a menace otherwise implying that it is harsh or cruel. By including that it searches for him, he also indicates that he ran into difficult times often, but stays optimistic by saying that it found him unafraid. This makes the reader aware that even though challenges always come up, they should always be courageous, just like he was. Henley writes that he stayed positive during ... • 35. Themes Of Big Black Good Man In the short story Big Black Good Man by Richard Wright there are few different themes that take place in the story. This story is about an old man, named Olaf Jenson, that was a night porter in a cheap hotel on the waterfront in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. On one night, Olaf talked to himself about how there were only three rooms left, and he was going to take a nap because it was midnight. Before Olaf could take a nap, a big black man came into his hotel looking for a room and a whore. Within this story, there are three themes that are important, and the themes are judgment, fear, and suspense. The first theme in the short story Big Black Good Man is judgment. Since the very first time Olaf, the hotel clerk, lays eyes on Jim, the biggest, strangest, and the blackest man he d ever seen, he lays judgment upon him because of how dark and large he was. For a majority of the short story, Olaf refers to Jim as the black giant. Olaf judged Jim because of his size, how loud he was, and how black he was, and Olaf assumed he was going to be too violent. Olaf was determined to deny the big black man a room because of the man s color and size. The second theme in this short story is fear. Olaf became frightened of Jim the closer he got and the more he spoke. Jim was about six and a half feet tall, and his voice was very deep. Every time Jim spoke, he probably shook the entire hotel. These features of Jim frightened Olaf. Olaf wanted to deny Jim a room to stay, but Jim ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those are the words of Elyn R. Sacs, a successful woman who happens to carry a diagnosis of schizophrenia. Mental illness has been plagued by stigma and misunderstanding throughout history, due to a lack of necessary research by professionals as well as a lack of education for the public. While it was initially thought that borderline personality disorder was more common in women, new data confirms that the prevalence is equal among the sexes. Along with this, research identified high rates of comorbidity with mood, anxiety and substance use disorders [4]. Patients with BPD have a 50 fold higher rate of suicide than the general population [5 ] (Nelson). However, it was also discovered within recent history that the prognosis for borderline personality disorder is shockingly favorable, in contrast with the previous notion that it was chronic and practically untreatable. Over the course of ten years of treatment, borderline personality disorder has a high rate of remission combined with a low rate of relapsing symptoms. At a follow up, after sixteen years, remission rates continued to be high, and recovery rates were moderate (Nelson). One of the most notable processes involved in remission and recovery is dialectical behavior therapy, which is designed to treat chronically suicidal, multiproblem patients (Nelson). Thirteen separate trials have been performed to test the effectiveness of dialectical behavior, making it the most highly researched forms of psychotherapy for borderline personality disorder. It is also one of the most effective, as not only did participants of DBT report using three times more skills than those in a control condition, but also their use of skills mediated decreases in suicide attempts and depression, and an increase in control over anger (Nelson). Despite being viewed as having a poor prognosis initially, borderline personality disorder can be treated effectively. While it may be a lengthy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New Israeli Nation between 1947-1967 Essay How was the new Israeli nation able to be born, to survive, and to prosper during the period of 1947 1967 despite being surrounded by hostile states? It had been the dream of almost every Jew to have their own nation in which they would be free from persecution but its very creation appeared to be beyond human possibility. As a consequence, they decided to create their own nation state. On of the first Zionist movements (Zionist; meaning advocates of returning to Palestine) was Hoveve Zion (Lovers of Zion). The movement originated in Russia in the 1880s. It established several Zionist towns in Palestine. Eventually, in 1893 the World Zionist Organization was founded by a correspondent of a Viennese newspaper, Theodor Herzl. He published a pamphlet; known as The Jewish State in which he argued that since Jews were a nationality without land, they must attain land in order to construct a nation state. (Mitchell, 2001) At the congress in Basel, Switzerland in 1897, the World Zionist Movement was established whose goal was to create a homeland for the Jewish people. Jews throughout the world donated 357 million in US dollars in its first year of existence. After unsuccessful attempts of negotiations with the Uganda and Argentine governments, they decided that the Jewish homeland would exist in Palestine. An old religious Jewish community known as the Old Yishuv had survived in Palestine throughout the rule of the Ottoman Empire and had virtually no conflict with their Arab neighbors (although there were laws which forbade Jews from building synagogues higher than mosques).
