Articles Of Confederation Vs US Constitution
The idea of state government came from the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation
were the first type of government the US had, and they were based on the state s powers. Soon, the
Framers of the US saw that the Articles of Confederation were not working, and each state was like it
s own country. The Framers met at the Constitutional Convention, and there were two sides as to how
the US Constitution should be written. The Federalists wanted a strong Central government, but the
Anti Federalists wanted a government that gave the power to the states. There was a compromise
made, and a central government was created, but also the states were given their own government.
There are many similarities between the two governments, but ... Show more content on

The state government system is the bottom, the foundation of United States. Then, it moves up into
the federal government which is at the top of the power chain. This whole concept shows that the state
and federal government must have some the same policies and systems to work together, the way it
does. Although, It must be somewhat different, otherwise a compromise would have never been made
at the Constitutional Convention. Overall, this shows that the United States government gets all of its
power from the citizens of the United States of

Post War America Summary
The return of World War II veterans instilled change on various fronts in America. From the G.I. Bill,
to the regression of civil rights progress and rise of nuclear fears, Americans faced an uncertain future.
To cope with the many changes occurring within America, individuals sought refuge in their own
homes and local communities. Many arguments have been proposed to showcase how important the
central nuclear home was. In the Visions of Family Life in Postwar America excerpt, from the
historical complication Major Problems in the History of American Families and Children, historian
Elaine Tyler May analyzes the impact post war American homes had on society. May s argument is
presented in a complex way, but is primarily conveyed in the statement, ... Show more content on

May s inclusion secondary sources in the form of specialists who analyzed the power experts held
during the postwar era increased the strength of her argument. May s first secondary source is the use
of opinions from sociologist William Whyte, who discussed how society became closer and more
unified after World War II due to the migrating population seeking refuge in one another. May s
second use of a secondary source came from anthropologist Margaret Mead, who explained the
increased tension created by the new, uncertain domestic population when they latched onto the advice
of antique consultants. The population s reliance on professional guidance created a daunting task for
the sought after experts. As a result, professionals pushed Americans towards adaptation rather than
defiance, which would result in the conversion to domestic

Book Of Kings Summary
The introduction of the book of Kings talks about Solomon being king as well as Jeroboam it then
goes on to talk about the Story of Elijah and Ahab. These two people did not get along. Ahab wanted
the Israelites to worship Baal, Elijah did not want that seeing that, he is a prophet he wanted the
Israelites to worship God. Since Elijah was becoming old he went out to seek out someone who would
be able to take over his position he found Elisha. The next part talks about Elisha s success. After that
it then goes on to talk about the End of the Omrid Dynasty as well as the end of Israel and Judah.
Naaman had been embarrassed of the way he looks due to his Leprosy. He felt embarrassed because
he was the army commander of the king and thought that since he had Leprosy people would look at
him differently and treat him differently. So, he went to the king of Israel to help with the cure, the
king tore his garments to pieces. Naaman went to Elisha, a prophet at the time. Elisha told Naaman to
go to the river and jump in seven times. Naaman did what he was told his flesh was then clean. As it
talks about in the Good Looks article people in society today are embarrassed of how they may look

Art In The Renaissance
During the period of the Renaissance, many prolific artists were commissioned by prominent families
and or groups to create works of art to show personal affluence and dedication to a faith or deity.
These actions, seemingly harmless, gave rise to much competition between cities, and some more so
than others. Such competition was common, especially considering the fact that Italy was not yet a
unified country and was divided up into various city states. As the city states were ruled by affluent
families, or prominent groups of people such as guilds or church leaders, rivalries often were due to
disputes between said groups. Such was the case in Florence and Siena, as their many wars against
one another sealed their opposition. To demonstrate this competition between major cities, one must
look at works of art in each respective city and how each relates to one another. To do this, one can
look at two prominent Maestá paintings commissioned in both Florence and Siena by the same artist.
To begin, artists were influenced by the city in which they were commissioned. In this, artists work
often reflects styles or themes of the cities in which they are working at certain points in time. Take
Duccio for example. His first commission for a Maestá was in Florence for a Dominican oriented
group that sought to do good deeds in the name of the Virgin Mary. Therefore it comes as no surprise
that the altarpiece for the Santa Maria Novella church would depict the Virgin Mary and the Christ
Child as the main subject matter. As Duccio was a Sienese painter and was influenced by other
Sienese painters, many aspects of Sienese artistry is evident in his paintings, but he clearly adheres to
the vertical style altarpieces with which many Florentines were commissioning around that time that
were depicting the same subject matter. In the painting, the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child sit in the
middle while various angelic beings, possessing the likenesses of different saints, hover around the
throne. The throne that the Virgin Mary sits on is not large and does not take up a lot of space, thus
allowing the few figures on the sides of the throne to float freely. In the painting, Duccio portrayed his
figures in a more natural

Argumentative Essay On Child Brides
Imagine viewing yourself standing against the backdrop of vibrant, beautiful tapestries wistfully
hanging from the wall behind. While taking a gander at the detailed rug underneath your feet, from out
of nowhere there are loud shouts and calls of joy and exultation, accompanied by the ringing of
cymbals, as a man in his mid to late fifties enters the room. Prominently, the man fully dressed in silks
and with a decorative ornament crowned around his head, recognizing him as the groom of the
wedding. Accordingly, as soon as he takes his seat at the wedding table, in a similar manner as the
groom, in walks a delicate figure no taller than your waistline. Notably, even though one can t observe
her face, the sounds of her relentless cries continuously heard, as the sight of her shed tears melt
through her beautiful red veil causing the light veil to stick upon her cheeks and mouth. Nevertheless,
she s forced to walk through the crowd and seated at the wedding table beside the older groom. Thus,
as the veil gets removed, to no one s shock, just your own, you discern she is just a child.
Emphatically, this depiction attended with other vivid descriptions are revealed in the article, Girls
aged SIX forced to marry men old enough to be their GRANDFATHERS: 12,000 child brides a day
will have to wed in 2017, aid workers warn, by David Williams, published on January 5, 2017. Hence,

Summary Of On Being A Cripple By Nancy Mair
Often in today s world individuals worry about being politically correct. When being politically
correct one must merely not offend or disadvantage any group in our society. If a person wants to
avoid being called offensive or rude their opinion must never oppose another and always remain
correct in the other s eyes, which is impossible if someone wants to speak their mind or communicate
in today s politics. The point being made is that everyone has their own opinion. Today I will be
discussing two poems, the first is written by Nancy Mairs and the second is by Elizabeth Stanton.
Nancy Mairs wrote On Being a Cripple which is a controversial article due to the reference to the
word cripple . Elizabeth Stanton wrote the second piece called ... Show more content on

Ethnic Groups in Pakistan
Since its birth, Pakistan has been home to various multi ethnic societies and groups in all its provinces.
The activities of these groups have had varying impact on the political history of Pakistan. This paper
analyses the impact of the Sindhi ethnic society (also known as the Jeeya Sindh movement ) on the
political history of Pakistan during the 1970s. I then provide a critique of the government s response to
the demands of these movements and then suggest my opinion as to how the government should have
reacted so as to have a better outcome.
At the creation of Pakistan, a large number Mohajirs migrated from India and settled in to Sindh.
From 1947 to 1951 nearly 1 million Mohajirs settled into Sindh (Rais, Rasul Buksh). They had also ...

Singh. Sukhbir ). Once these ethnic movements took shape, it took very less time for them to
transform into political parties. This had to different outcomes, groups with similar interests joined
together to become stronger parties. During this process they also learned to co operate with each
other and settle differences within themselves. The other outcome of formation of groups was that due
to difference in interests of different groups, political parties could not work together hence the
country landed into inconsistent leadership. There was also alienation due to large majority of one
community. Above all these differences in parties lead to unequal development for different groups in
fields of government jobs, education and urbanization.
The states response to the Sindhi nationalist movement has been mixed. Z.A Bhutto s introduction of
the quota system to safeguard the interests of the Sindhis in my opinion was biased as it aggravated
intra provincial ethnic divides in Pakistan. In my opinion, the government shouldn t have imposed a
quota, it instead should have aided the Sindhis in forms of educational institutions and training so that
they could compete with the Mohajirs in a fair manner. As the competition would have been fair, it
would have been unlikely for the Mohajirs to start a movement of their own.
Another main mistake by Z.A Bhutto was the introduction of Urdu as the official language in NWFP

Digital Film And Digital Technologies Essay
Regarding my photographic process I am somewhat bilingual, making use of both analog film and
digital technologies. I primarily shoot large format sheet film with a view camera because of the
amount of control the camera provides and the rich, descriptive negative that the process yields. The
image is output in the form of archival pigment prints which are then sprayed with a clear coat that
enhances the blacks of the print. The prints are produced using a drum scanner and large format
printers which provide a high degree of control, sharpness, and description that is imperative to my
work and not possible in the dark room. The photographs presented in my thesis exhibition reflect
semantic, semiotic, and philosophical interests. They also describe formal concerns contrasting
surfaces and architectural anomalies may create a kind of perceptual discrepancy upon first glance.
The pictures, however, are decidedly un mediated descriptions of real world phenomena. In this way,
the photographs demonstrate an interest in the ready made and my on going commitment to making
work in and of the world. In the removed sign works, I photographed residual adhesive attached to
walls after signs have been removed. Confined by the rectangle of the photographic frame or the sign
s outline the adhesive remnant, stripped of it s utility, may emerge as a kind of ready made painting. In
lieu of the expected directives on the surface of these deteriorating walls are accumulated,

French Resistance
When France surrendered to Germany on 22 Jun 1940, those who resented Germany occupation and
the Vichy government formed cells that collectively were named the French Resistance. Some groups
were violent in nature, aiming to hurt or kill the German occupiers; these were called maquis. Other
groups used non violent means, publishing underground newspapers and broadcasted anti German and
anti Vichy radio programs. Many of these groups were born after the 18 Jun 1940 address by Charles
de Gaulle who encouraged the French people to continue the fight against the German forces even if
the nation surrendered. To take advantage of these groups, the British Special Operations Executive
(SOE) began infiltrating into France beginning in May 1941 to aid ... Show more content on

Giraud and Charles de Gaulle became joint presidents of the CNR after the death of Moulin, but by

resistance fighters to attack key communications and transportation targets to aid the planned

then sent into France to closely coordinate actions immediately before the invasion. The resistance
fighters continued to aid Allied invasion efforts after the forces had made footing on continental

Dementia With Lewy Bodies ( Dlb ) Essay
Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), when cognitive symptoms appear within a year of movement
problems, is a complex and challenging neurodegenerative disorder. (Pervin, Edwards Lippa, 2016). It
is complex because the DLB pathology and its impact on certain brain regions are unclear. The
pathology includes Lewy bodies, senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. It is challenging because
its many core features make it difficult for individuals to perform activities of daily living. The core
clinical features comprise of declining and fluctuating cognition, behavioural and psychotic
behaviours and spontaneous signs of parkinsonism.
DLB main neuropathological structures are Lewy bodies, nevertheless it also has the Alzheimer s
disease (AD) pathology of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (Pervin, Edwards Lippa, 2016).
Astonishing up to 80 percent of individuals can show AD pathology (Colom Cadena et al., 2013).
Lewy bodies are located in cell cytoplasm, spherical in shape, eosinophilic, neuronal attachments,
with a compressed hyaline centre and clear halo. They are made of unusual shortened and
phosphorylated proteins and alpha synuclein is the main component (Hancock, 2011). The alpha
synuclein accumulations, termed Lewy bodies (LB) and Lewy neuritis (LN), disturb brain chemicals
resulting in complications with movement, thinking, mood and behaviour. In a fit brain, alpha
synuclein is essential in brain neurons, especially at presynaptic part, where cell

Land Use Development Patterns And The International...
INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROUND TO STUDY
Land use development patterns (also called urban form, built environment, community design, spatial
development, and urban geography) is referred to as the human use of the earth s surface, including
the location, type and design of infrastructure such as roads and buildings. Land use patterns can have
diverse economic, social and environmental impacts and some are more accessible and so reduce
transportation costs to businesses and consumers.
Transportation on the other hand is the movement of people, information and goods from one location
to another. The specific purpose of transportation is to fulfill a demand for mobility, since
transportation can only exists if it moves people, freight and information around. Otherwise it has no
purpose. Since the 18th century till now, urbanization, multinational corporations, the globalization of
trade and the international division of labor are all forces shaping and taking advantage of
transportation at different, but often related, scales. Consequently, the fundamental purpose of
transport is geographic in nature, because it facilitates movements between different locations.
Transport thus plays a role in the structure and organization of space and territories, which may vary
according to the level of development.

Feasibility And Merit Criteria For Our Recycling Program
The facility would contain an office area for the Sustainability Supervisor, a paid employee of Mercer
University who would be responsible for the recycling and sustainability efforts at Mercer University.
They would oversee interns responsible for maintaining and updating the website as well as student
workers who would sort recyclable materials. It would be outfitted with three computers, office
furniture, and a solar compactor. Collected recyclables would be taken to that facility to be sorted,
compacted and housed. With the creation of a sustainability office, we would be able to increase the
amount of recyclable waste that could be stored on campus and simply take the material to Atlanta,
directly, after it was capable of filling the truck. This would decrease the amount of trips taken
downtown to the Macon recycling center and increase Mercer s independence in the sustainability
movement.
Feasibility and Merit Criteria
The feasibility criteria considered in deciding the requirements of our recycling program, were the
same conditions given to us in the RFP. At the very minimum each proposed program had to include
recycling in Academic/Office buildings, Residential areas, the University Center, the Connell Student
Center, and the Sporting arenas. When it came to deciding what merit criteria would be used in
establishing parameters, we focused on the major problems detailed to us during the Bidder s
Conference. We were informed that the major factors in the failure of

Jim Henson s career began early, when he was only sixteen years of age. Henson began to put his

Hockey Players Are Pretty Good People
So this brings up my first point and ethical dilemma; is it right for the NHL to put their players in this
town? One can argue that is not the responsibility of the NHL to control the actions of their players,
however, is it a good idea to even present the opportunity for a millionaire athlete to be tempted by
this excessive town, that is Las Vegas? Generally, hockey players are pretty good people, including
professionals playing in the NHL, or instance; P.K. Subban, current Nashville Predator, and former
defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens made an outstanding donation of $10 million dollars to the
Montreal Children s Hospital. Nick Foligno, Captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets also donated $1
million dollars to the Boston Children s Hospital after they treated his daughter for a congenital heart
disease, supporting the positive reputation of the players, being mostly, kind hearted and generous
guys off the ice. On the contrary, hockey players are known to have a bit of a reputation for being
partiers, Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane has often been spotted having a few more beverages
than he should in downtown Chicago, he also got in trouble with the law back in the summer of 2009
for an altercation with a cab driver over $0.20 cents. Not to say that every NHL player that visits, or

is best to prepare a strategic plan for currency exposure of Bose products, due to the transactions risk

Personal Leadership Philosophy Of Organizational Leadership
Personal Leadership Philosophy
Participating in the course Foundations of Organizational Leadership presented many opportunities to
enhance and enrich my perspective on leadership as well as develop my own unique leadership
philosophy. By observing the theories, models and cases presented in Northouse, Kouzes and Posner
textbooks, I was able to learn through the experience of others what a true leader should represent.
While considering the strengths and weaknesses of each theory, I am able to implement a leadership
style with an effective approach tailored to many different types of learners. In addition, witnessing
both the triumphs and failures of various businesses and leadership styles, helped me confirm my
personal stance and aspirations towards becoming a leader. By implementing what I have learned from
the course and textbooks, I will address in this paper what specific leadership theories, styles and
models have contributed to forming my own leadership philosophy. In addition, I will also define the
values, qualities, strengths and weaknesses and ethical considerations that pertain to my stance on
leadership. By integrating a faith based approach as the foundation of my leadership style, I hope to
implement my new philosophy into my current and future career path.

Another critic also said that although Leonardo worked on the Mona Lisa over a number of years in a
number of different cities, none of his business or household records contain any mention of a model
who might have sat for the portrait.
In an article in the January issue of Arts and Antiques, Schwartz describes how her conclusions tie
together a number of seemingly unrelated anomalies in the painting, its shadowy quality, the unusual
dress, the lack of jewelry, the awkward pose and the split pair of unrelated landscapes on either side of
the figure.
She points out that Leonardo s delight in riddles caused him to plant clues in all his paintings and that
the Mona Lisa was no exception.
When these clues are taken together with da Vinci s known homosexuality and life style, a picture
emerges of the great painter creating a disguised self portrait in women s clothes.

The And Background Of Nightingale
One could argue, that the evolution of nursing began with Florence Nightingale. She has been
awarded the title of the founder of modern day nursing, and many of the practices she implemented in
an effort to improve patient care, has molded nursing practice into what is it today. The purpose of this
paper is to summarize the credentials and background of Nightingale, review her environmental
adaptation theory, and identify sources of her theory. We will also state the major concepts/definitions
of the theory as well as provide major assumptions of said theory. Credentials and Background of

Cherry and Jacob state that Nightingale introduced principles of asepsis and infection control, a
system for transcribing physician s orders, and a procedure to maintain patient records (Cherry Jacob,
2014, p. 8). Florence Nightingale also established the first nursing school in 1860 at the St. Thomas
Hospital of London (Cherry Jacob, 2014). Not only is Nightingale the founder of professional nursing,
she is also recognized for contributing to nursing research, involvement in political activism, and for
her establishment to provide formal nursing education to pursing nurses (Cherry Jacob, 2014).
Nightingale s Environmental Adaptation Theory Florence Nightingale is very well known for
transforming nursing in general as we know it. She viewed nursing as an art and educated nurses the
proper practice of professional nursing. Her theory of practice focused on environmental adaptation
that served as the foundation for promoting health (Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 80). Nightingale believed
that a patient s health and healing process was greatly affected by their surrounding environment. She
described that ventilation, warmth, noise, diet, light, chattering hopes, and cleanliness were the
standards of her theory (Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 81). Nightingale stated, keeping the

Police Brutality Over The Years
It feels as if nothing has changed about police brutality over the years. The usual cycle is that juries
acquit the police, cops get their jobs back, and brutality happens again. One of the most broadcasted
cases of police brutality, was the beating of Rodney King. On the night of March 2, 1991, a bystander
named George Holiday, videotaped the moment when five officers used excess force on an African
American man named Rodney King, beating him with batons as he struggled on the ground. Also, it
was recorded that an officer stomped on King s shoulder causing his head to hit hard against the
asphalt. Holiday sent the videotape to a local TV station and soon sent shock waves around the world,
catapulting police brutality and race relations in the United States to center stage. Most viewers who
watched the tape revealed the brutal and senseless beating of a hopeless drunk. After debating for
seven days over the fate of the officers, on April 29, 1992, the clerk announced the final verdict, the
five officers were not guilty. The African American community in Los Angeles were outraged when
they heard the decision that the five officers were found innocent the following year. The decision
triggered three days of violent riots causing 54 people to die, 7,000 people to get arrested and costing
the city millions of dollars for damages. During the riots, blacks would use baseball bats to batter cars
driven by whites, another white individual got hit in the face by a block of concrete,

How Did The Vietnam War Affect People In The 1960s
Among all wars and other military conflicts which USA engaged the Vietnam War differs for its scale,
duration, and changes which it brought to American public in long term both directly and indirectly.
Obviously, in the shadow of 1960s changes, including civil rights movement and emerging counter
culture movement it influenced American society significantly. This work intends to analyze how it
affected people in USA.
Considering the fact that the Vietnam War was going on the period which civil rights movement was
on the rise, African American veterans had faced disproportionately more hardships that their white
counter parts during and the after the war. As research conducted by
Boulton (2007) points out that the G.I. Bill which initially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another main reason was that bill did not differentiate at all about the kind of service that veterans had
had. Regardless of serving real combat zone or peacetime condition, every veteran got the same
benefits. So, the bill could not fulfill Acfrican
American veterans needs completely as it was intended by the government.
The favorability of the Vietnam War was extremely controversial when it was happening. Bergan
(2009) conducted a work for discovering cause and effect relationship between self interest and
support for the war. The research argues that one s self interest had significant influence on likelihood
of his favorability of war. The work describes that draft status started to be determined as televised
lottery. While controversial as a method of induction, the randomized lottery is convenient for the
estimation of the likelihood of induction having an effect on attitudes toward the Vietnam War, as birth
date is related to likelihood of service but is unlikely to be related to predispositions to support the war
.

Summary Of The Flexibility In Duty Hour
This article is about discussing weather or not limiting medical residents hours would be harmful for

originally allowed to work shifts of up to 30 hours straight. However, the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education updated its standards back in 2011, limiting residents in their first years
to work at a maximum of 16 hour shifts or 80 hour workweeks, and others to 24 hour shifts. This
study focuses on a clinical trial on work hours for medical students in residency that argue that there
are conflicts and dangerous for patients and practitioners. The trial was called FIRST, The Flexibility

The Importance Of Motivation In Education
Education is the key to eliminate gender discrimination, to decrease poverty, to foster social peace in
our communities and to create a sustainable development. But, how can we encourage our children to
study effectively? In other words, how can we prepare them for success? Motivation is the secret
behind student success. Motivation helps to explain why some children get impressive education
results despite poverty, while others get ordinary results despite highly sophisticated teaching
methods. Which factors affecting students motivation? And how it works in the lives of girls and
boys? Despite the fact that girls outperform their male peers, and hyper control of girls acts as a kind
of motivator which makes them study harder than boys, boys are not defective. Motivation is the main
factor which is shaped by parents and teachers. In many Middle Eastern public schools; elements have
cooperated together to create an educational system which is not appropriate for anyone but
particularly not for boys. Boys feel like their teachers do not care about them, and they had
experienced a worse relationship with their teachers. Also, they reported physical punishment which
had been occurred at school. Moreover, boys have their own society which aims to enforce their
masculinity away from classrooms and academic goals that is why they lose their motivation to study
hard. This is the topic that Amanda Ripley (2017) focuses on in her article Boys are not defective . In
her article Ripley (2017) discusses that male teachers practices have a negative effect on boys
motivation. They do not care about boys well performance, tend to punish them physically and shout
at them. In addition, the notions of masculinity among boys make them feel like schools will not help
them to reach manhood. My firm conviction is those worse relationships between boys and teachers,
insulting and corporal punishment and the internal desire of students to achieve their manhood outside
classrooms; this would affect badly on their motivation, and would decrease their academic
performance.
I am totally agree with the author since teachers are one of the major factors which stands behind boys
performance, and teachers mistreatment towards boys

Persuasive Essay On Manus Island
According to settlement services international, Australia accepted 17,555 refugees in total in the 2015
2016 period. Although these people were simply entering Australia to flee prosecution in the country
from which they departed, many still saw it as a compromise to safety. This is not without reason
though; most of us will remember the Sydney siege in late 2014, in which a gunman held 18 people
hostage inside a Lindt cafe, or the Brighton siege just earlier this year in which a gunman killed a
receptionist at an apartment complex and took another woman hostage. There is no doubt about it:

to offshore processing centres on Manus and Nauru island. These centres were closed in 2008, but

My Mother s Family s Story
Preface My mother had mentioned to me that her family s story is longer than a book, however, it is so
hard for me to ask the details of what had happened to her because all the stories in her life strike a
chord in her heart. For example, almost all of my father s friends in Hong Kong were the people who
escaped from communist China. Their stories were soul stirring. Many of them left their families in
China. Their vicissitudes of life contained joy, sorrows, partings and reunions. My father was
considered very lucky because he survived. Many of them capsized in the rough sea; some of them
simply spent all of their energy and died on the way to their dream; some of them were caught by the
militias or the soldiers; some of them were extradited back to China by the British government. Their
families left in China suffered numerous humiliations. However, more than thirty years having passed,
their stories were dim without a voice in history. Either their stories were too bitter to bring up, or they
did not want to be named as a traitor to their country. During Mao s era, and even for a while after,
anyone who escaped to Hong Kong was considered a traitor and turned over to the enemy. Escaping to
Hong Kong was a very sensitive topic. Therefore, we would hear these stories all the time, but we
hardly ever see anything written down about what they had been through. I have lived in the United
States for more than thirty years, vivid memories of my childhood still

New Inclusive Approach To Bullying Essay
Over the past couple of decades, schools all across the nation have noticed a significant rise in the
amount of bullying taking place among their students. Two decades ago, bullying was often seen as a
rare occurrence, where small groups of parents sought protection for their children with the school
district , stated by Vikki Healy Ortiz, writer of the article New inclusive approach helps schools fight
bullying . However, the same cannot be said for our society in today s world. Our modern world has
advanced tremendously over the past few decades and there are even more opportunities for children
to be susceptible to feeling isolated from others because they are simply unique. In today s society,
children have the potential to bully each other outside of the classroom as well. ... Show more content

Experts say that the old methods that were once used to help bring down the rate of bullying are now
no longer effective because they are out of date. Ortiz states, In the past, administrators often relied on
individual conversations, sporadic motivational speakers and other piecemeal attempts focused on
telling students not to be mean . It is quite obvious as to why these methods are now considered to be
very elementary and inefficient. As our society advances, our methods of coping with complexities
need to advance as well. Luckily, school districts will implement ideas of having more in depth
approaches that stress on the importance of respect and peer to peer remediation. Schools all across
the United States are taking a stand against bullying by focusing on crucial campaigns that strive on

the process of analyzing and comparing one s business processes and performance measurement by
looking at industry ideal and best practices from other companies. This process of obtaining a measure
is a way of examining and discovering what is the best production being achieved whether in a
particular industry, company, competitor or a different business. It is a way of examining how others
achieve their performance level and understand the processes and steps they use. This dimensions
usually measures quality, time and cost using a specific indicator resulting in a metric performance
that is going to be compared to others. The application of this practice usually involves four key steps:
Understand in detail current business processes, Analyze the business procedures and process of
others, compare/contrast own business performance/production with the others analyzed and
implement the steps necessary to close the performance gap. There are four primary types of bench
marking: functional, internal, competitive and generic. Functional benchmarking is the process of

Essay Metal And Architecture
Metal and architecture has evolved over centuries, with successive eras opening up new technical and
elegant possibilities through the development of different types of metals. Metals are dense, lustrous
materials that are highly conductive of heat and electricity. Some facts about metals are that they are
generally ductile, meaning that they can be hammered thin or drawn into wires. Metals can also be
liquified by heating and then resolidified by cooling. Presently metals are the strongest building
materials in common use. Found in nature, metals come in the form of oxide ores, meaning they are a

Galvanizing protects metal or steel against the exposure to the atmosphere and rusting. It is applied by
an application of zinc coating. Tern plating is a steel sheet with a coating of tern metal which is an
alloy of led and tin. This is applied by dipping the steel into molten metal. An example of what you
would use tern plating for would be roofing, gutters, gas tanks, oil cans, etc.. Another way to protect
metal is plating. Plating is the coating of metal or other material such as plastic or china, with a hard,

Sigmund Freud contributed more to the modern psychological research landscape than any of his
contemporaries. Throughout his career he created one of the first empirically based methods of

and it is defined by a series of theories which connect the human experience to human behaviors and
motivations. These theories consist of development analyses based around psychological,

The moral compass was a result of a humans Superego according to Freud. The superego was believed
to develop later on after the Ego, which was in turn developed just after birth. The superego allows for
a higher level understanding of human relations; and creates motivations to care for other humans
beyond a direct benefit to ones self. A parallel development to the ID Ego Superego process is the
psychosexual stages of human consciousness. These stages develop over the first few years a child s

birth to 18 months a child experiences the oral stage of psychosexuality; this time period finds the
child focused on the erogenous zone of the mouth. Exploration comes in the form of eating or sucking
on things; and the brain builds a relationship between these actions and pleasure. This stage can carry

they see that the teacher is happy, energetic, and ready to go. As we get to learn every student s name
and getting to know what their interests are, adding their name to saying good morning, and a high
five, a fist bump, etc. will continue to make the student feel secure in the room knowing the teacher
cares about me, and wants to interact with me.
Classroom rules should be created by the students, but with the basics and the framework created by
the teacher. The teacher should know what the big ideas behind three to five main rules they want to

  • 2. Articles Of Confederation Vs US Constitution The idea of state government came from the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation were the first type of government the US had, and they were based on the state s powers. Soon, the Framers of the US saw that the Articles of Confederation were not working, and each state was like it s own country. The Framers met at the Constitutional Convention, and there were two sides as to how the US Constitution should be written. The Federalists wanted a strong Central government, but the Anti Federalists wanted a government that gave the power to the states. There was a compromise made, and a central government was created, but also the states were given their own government. There are many similarities between the two governments, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The state government system is the bottom, the foundation of United States. Then, it moves up into the federal government which is at the top of the power chain. This whole concept shows that the state and federal government must have some the same policies and systems to work together, the way it does. Although, It must be somewhat different, otherwise a compromise would have never been made at the Constitutional Convention. Overall, this shows that the United States government gets all of its power from the citizens of the United States of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Post War America Summary The return of World War II veterans instilled change on various fronts in America. From the G.I. Bill, to the regression of civil rights progress and rise of nuclear fears, Americans faced an uncertain future. To cope with the many changes occurring within America, individuals sought refuge in their own homes and local communities. Many arguments have been proposed to showcase how important the central nuclear home was. In the Visions of Family Life in Postwar America excerpt, from the historical complication Major Problems in the History of American Families and Children, historian Elaine Tyler May analyzes the impact post war American homes had on society. May s argument is presented in a complex way, but is primarily conveyed in the statement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... May s inclusion secondary sources in the form of specialists who analyzed the power experts held during the postwar era increased the strength of her argument. May s first secondary source is the use of opinions from sociologist William Whyte, who discussed how society became closer and more unified after World War II due to the migrating population seeking refuge in one another. May s second use of a secondary source came from anthropologist Margaret Mead, who explained the increased tension created by the new, uncertain domestic population when they latched onto the advice of antique consultants. The population s reliance on professional guidance created a daunting task for the sought after experts. As a result, professionals pushed Americans towards adaptation rather than defiance, which would result in the conversion to domestic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Book Of Kings Summary The introduction of the book of Kings talks about Solomon being king as well as Jeroboam it then goes on to talk about the Story of Elijah and Ahab. These two people did not get along. Ahab wanted the Israelites to worship Baal, Elijah did not want that seeing that, he is a prophet he wanted the Israelites to worship God. Since Elijah was becoming old he went out to seek out someone who would be able to take over his position he found Elisha. The next part talks about Elisha s success. After that it then goes on to talk about the End of the Omrid Dynasty as well as the end of Israel and Judah. Naaman had been embarrassed of the way he looks due to his Leprosy. He felt embarrassed because he was the army commander of the king and thought that since he had Leprosy people would look at him differently and treat him differently. So, he went to the king of Israel to help with the cure, the king tore his garments to pieces. Naaman went to Elisha, a prophet at the time. Elisha told Naaman to go to the river and jump in seven times. Naaman did what he was told his flesh was then clean. • 5. Art In The Renaissance During the period of the Renaissance, many prolific artists were commissioned by prominent families and or groups to create works of art to show personal affluence and dedication to a faith or deity. These actions, seemingly harmless, gave rise to much competition between cities, and some more so than others. Such competition was common, especially considering the fact that Italy was not yet a unified country and was divided up into various city states. As the city states were ruled by affluent families, or prominent groups of people such as guilds or church leaders, rivalries often were due to disputes between said groups. Such was the case in Florence and Siena, as their many wars against one another sealed their opposition. To demonstrate this competition between major cities, one must look at works of art in each respective city and how each relates to one another. To do this, one can look at two prominent Maestá paintings commissioned in both Florence and Siena by the same artist. To begin, artists were influenced by the city in which they were commissioned. In this, artists work often reflects styles or themes of the cities in which they are working at certain points in time. Take Duccio for example. His first commission for a Maestá was in Florence for a Dominican oriented group that sought to do good deeds in the name of the Virgin Mary. Therefore it comes as no surprise that the altarpiece for the Santa Maria Novella church would depict the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child as the main subject matter. As Duccio was a Sienese painter and was influenced by other Sienese painters, many aspects of Sienese artistry is evident in his paintings, but he clearly adheres to the vertical style altarpieces with which many Florentines were commissioning around that time that were depicting the same subject matter. In the painting, the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child sit in the middle while various angelic beings, possessing the likenesses of different saints, hover around the throne. The throne that the Virgin Mary sits on is not large and does not take up a lot of space, thus allowing the few figures on the sides of the throne to float freely. In the painting, Duccio portrayed his figures in a more natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Argumentative Essay On Child Brides Imagine viewing yourself standing against the backdrop of vibrant, beautiful tapestries wistfully hanging from the wall behind. While taking a gander at the detailed rug underneath your feet, from out of nowhere there are loud shouts and calls of joy and exultation, accompanied by the ringing of cymbals, as a man in his mid to late fifties enters the room. Prominently, the man fully dressed in silks and with a decorative ornament crowned around his head, recognizing him as the groom of the wedding. Accordingly, as soon as he takes his seat at the wedding table, in a similar manner as the groom, in walks a delicate figure no taller than your waistline. Notably, even though one can t observe her face, the sounds of her relentless cries continuously heard, as the sight of her shed tears melt through her beautiful red veil causing the light veil to stick upon her cheeks and mouth. Nevertheless, she s forced to walk through the crowd and seated at the wedding table beside the older groom. Thus, as the veil gets removed, to no one s shock, just your own, you discern she is just a child. Emphatically, this depiction attended with other vivid descriptions are revealed in the article, Girls aged SIX forced to marry men old enough to be their GRANDFATHERS: 12,000 child brides a day will have to wed in 2017, aid workers warn, by David Williams, published on January 5, 2017. • 7. Summary Of On Being A Cripple By Nancy Mair Often in today s world individuals worry about being politically correct. When being politically correct one must merely not offend or disadvantage any group in our society. If a person wants to avoid being called offensive or rude their opinion must never oppose another and always remain correct in the other s eyes, which is impossible if someone wants to speak their mind or communicate in today s politics. The point being made is that everyone has their own opinion. Today I will be discussing two poems, the first is written by Nancy Mairs and the second is by Elizabeth Stanton. Nancy Mairs wrote On Being a Cripple which is a controversial article due to the reference to the word cripple . Elizabeth Stanton wrote the second piece called ... • 8. Ethnic Groups in Pakistan Since its birth, Pakistan has been home to various multi ethnic societies and groups in all its provinces. The activities of these groups have had varying impact on the political history of Pakistan. This paper analyses the impact of the Sindhi ethnic society (also known as the Jeeya Sindh movement ) on the political history of Pakistan during the 1970s. I then provide a critique of the government s response to the demands of these movements and then suggest my opinion as to how the government should have reacted so as to have a better outcome. At the creation of Pakistan, a large number Mohajirs migrated from India and settled in to Sindh. From 1947 to 1951 nearly 1 million Mohajirs settled into Sindh (Rais, Rasul Buksh). They had also ... This had to different outcomes, groups with similar interests joined together to become stronger parties. During this process they also learned to co operate with each other and settle differences within themselves. The other outcome of formation of groups was that due to difference in interests of different groups, political parties could not work together hence the country landed into inconsistent leadership. There was also alienation due to large majority of one community. Above all these differences in parties lead to unequal development for different groups in fields of government jobs, education and urbanization. The states response to the Sindhi nationalist movement has been mixed. Z.A Bhutto s introduction of the quota system to safeguard the interests of the Sindhis in my opinion was biased as it aggravated intra provincial ethnic divides in Pakistan. In my opinion, the government shouldn t have imposed a quota, it instead should have aided the Sindhis in forms of educational institutions and training so that they could compete with the Mohajirs in a fair manner. As the competition would have been fair, it would have been unlikely for the Mohajirs to start a movement of their own. Another main mistake by Z.A Bhutto was the introduction of Urdu as the official language in NWFP and Balochistan after sharing power with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Digital Film And Digital Technologies Essay Regarding my photographic process I am somewhat bilingual, making use of both analog film and digital technologies. I primarily shoot large format sheet film with a view camera because of the amount of control the camera provides and the rich, descriptive negative that the process yields. The image is output in the form of archival pigment prints which are then sprayed with a clear coat that enhances the blacks of the print. The prints are produced using a drum scanner and large format printers which provide a high degree of control, sharpness, and description that is imperative to my work and not possible in the dark room. The photographs presented in my thesis exhibition reflect semantic, semiotic, and philosophical interests. They also describe formal concerns contrasting surfaces and architectural anomalies may create a kind of perceptual discrepancy upon first glance. The pictures, however, are decidedly un mediated descriptions of real world phenomena. In this way, the photographs demonstrate an interest in the ready made and my on going commitment to making work in and of the world. In the removed sign works, I photographed residual adhesive attached to walls after signs have been removed. Confined by the rectangle of the photographic frame or the sign s outline the adhesive remnant, stripped of it s utility, may emerge as a kind of ready made painting. French Resistance When France surrendered to Germany on 22 Jun 1940, those who resented Germany occupation and the Vichy government formed cells that collectively were named the French Resistance. Some groups were violent in nature, aiming to hurt or kill the German occupiers; these were called maquis. Other groups used non violent means, publishing underground newspapers and broadcasted anti German and anti Vichy radio programs. Many of these groups were born after the 18 Jun 1940 address by Charles de Gaulle who encouraged the French people to continue the fight against the German forces even if the nation surrendered. To take advantage of these groups, the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) began infiltrating into France beginning in May 1941 to aid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On 21 Jun, however, Moulin was captured by the German Gestapo and was tortured to death. Henri Giraud and Charles de Gaulle became joint presidents of the CNR after the death of Moulin, but by Oct that year, the politically minded de Gaulle maneuvered Giraud out of the position of power and became the sole leader of CNR. Although de Gaulle was difficult to work with for the Allied commanders, with him in London, it was possible for the Allied command to pass orders for the resistance fighters to attack key communications and transportation targets to aid the planned Operation Overlord. 93 small teams of three agents (one American, one British, and one French) were then sent into France to closely coordinate actions immediately before the invasion. The resistance fighters continued to aid Allied invasion efforts after the forces had made footing on continental Europe, in northern France aiding the troops marching toward Paris, and in southern France during Operation Dragoon. Groups in Paris, supported by the Paris policemen, began their fiercest resistance on 19 Aug 1944, attacking German forces with rifles and grenades while rounding up collaborators for execution. • 11. Dementia With Lewy Bodies ( Dlb ) Essay Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), when cognitive symptoms appear within a year of movement problems, is a complex and challenging neurodegenerative disorder. (Pervin, Edwards Lippa, 2016). It is complex because the DLB pathology and its impact on certain brain regions are unclear. The pathology includes Lewy bodies, senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. It is challenging because its many core features make it difficult for individuals to perform activities of daily living. The core clinical features comprise of declining and fluctuating cognition, behavioural and psychotic behaviours and spontaneous signs of parkinsonism. DLB main neuropathological structures are Lewy bodies, nevertheless it also has the Alzheimer s disease (AD) pathology of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (Pervin, Edwards Lippa, 2016). Astonishing up to 80 percent of individuals can show AD pathology (Colom Cadena et al., 2013). Lewy bodies are located in cell cytoplasm, spherical in shape, eosinophilic, neuronal attachments, with a compressed hyaline centre and clear halo. They are made of unusual shortened and phosphorylated proteins and alpha synuclein is the main component (Hancock, 2011). The alpha synuclein accumulations, termed Lewy bodies (LB) and Lewy neuritis (LN), disturb brain chemicals resulting in complications with movement, thinking, mood and behaviour. In a fit brain, alpha synuclein is essential in brain neurons, especially at presynaptic part, where cell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Land Use Development Patterns And The International... INTRODUCTION 1.0 BACKGROUND TO STUDY Land use development patterns (also called urban form, built environment, community design, spatial development, and urban geography) is referred to as the human use of the earth s surface, including the location, type and design of infrastructure such as roads and buildings. Land use patterns can have diverse economic, social and environmental impacts and some are more accessible and so reduce transportation costs to businesses and consumers. Transportation on the other hand is the movement of people, information and goods from one location to another. The specific purpose of transportation is to fulfill a demand for mobility, since transportation can only exists if it moves people, freight and information around. Otherwise it has no purpose. Since the 18th century till now, urbanization, multinational corporations, the globalization of trade and the international division of labor are all forces shaping and taking advantage of transportation at different, but often related, scales. Consequently, the fundamental purpose of transport is geographic in nature, because it facilitates movements between different locations. Transport thus plays a role in the structure and organization of space and territories, which may vary according to the level of development. Feasibility And Merit Criteria For Our Recycling Program The facility would contain an office area for the Sustainability Supervisor, a paid employee of Mercer University who would be responsible for the recycling and sustainability efforts at Mercer University. They would oversee interns responsible for maintaining and updating the website as well as student workers who would sort recyclable materials. It would be outfitted with three computers, office furniture, and a solar compactor. Collected recyclables would be taken to that facility to be sorted, compacted and housed. With the creation of a sustainability office, we would be able to increase the amount of recyclable waste that could be stored on campus and simply take the material to Atlanta, directly, after it was capable of filling the truck. This would decrease the amount of trips taken downtown to the Macon recycling center and increase Mercer s independence in the sustainability movement. Feasibility and Merit Criteria The feasibility criteria considered in deciding the requirements of our recycling program, were the same conditions given to us in the RFP. At the very minimum each proposed program had to include recycling in Academic/Office buildings, Residential areas, the University Center, the Connell Student Center, and the Sporting arenas. When it came to deciding what merit criteria would be used in establishing parameters, we focused on the major problems detailed to us during the Bidder s Conference. Beginning as early as I can remember, books were read to me by my mother, my father and my sisters. Teachers who are able to foster appreciation of a literary work where there was none before are invaluable to the field of education. The usual cycle is that juries acquit the police, cops get their jobs back, and brutality happens again. One of the most broadcasted cases of police brutality, was the beating of Rodney King. On the night of March 2, 1991, a bystander named George Holiday, videotaped the moment when five officers used excess force on an African American man named Rodney King, beating him with batons as he struggled on the ground. Also, it was recorded that an officer stomped on King s shoulder causing his head to hit hard against the asphalt. Holiday sent the videotape to a local TV station and soon sent shock waves around the world, catapulting police brutality and race relations in the United States to center stage. Most viewers who watched the tape revealed the brutal and senseless beating of a hopeless drunk. After debating for seven days over the fate of the officers, on April 29, 1992, the clerk announced the final verdict, the five officers were not guilty. The African American community in Los Angeles were outraged when they heard the decision that the five officers were found innocent the following year. The decision triggered three days of violent riots causing 54 people to die, 7,000 people to get arrested and costing the city millions of dollars for damages. • 30. The Importance Of Motivation In Education Education is the key to eliminate gender discrimination, to decrease poverty, to foster social peace in our communities and to create a sustainable development. But, how can we encourage our children to study effectively? In other words, how can we prepare them for success? Motivation is the secret behind student success. Motivation helps to explain why some children get impressive education results despite poverty, while others get ordinary results despite highly sophisticated teaching methods. Which factors affecting students motivation? And how it works in the lives of girls and boys? Despite the fact that girls outperform their male peers, and hyper control of girls acts as a kind of motivator which makes them study harder than boys, boys are not defective. Motivation is the main factor which is shaped by parents and teachers. In many Middle Eastern public schools; elements have cooperated together to create an educational system which is not appropriate for anyone but particularly not for boys. Boys feel like their teachers do not care about them, and they had experienced a worse relationship with their teachers. Also, they reported physical punishment which had been occurred at school. Moreover, boys have their own society which aims to enforce their masculinity away from classrooms and academic goals that is why they lose their motivation to study hard. This is the topic that Amanda Ripley (2017) focuses on in her article Boys are not defective . In her article Ripley (2017) discusses that male teachers practices have a negative effect on boys motivation. They do not care about boys well performance, tend to punish them physically and shout at them. In addition, the notions of masculinity among boys make them feel like schools will not help them to reach manhood. My firm conviction is those worse relationships between boys and teachers, insulting and corporal punishment and the internal desire of students to achieve their manhood outside classrooms; this would affect badly on their motivation, and would decrease their academic performance. My Mother s Family s Story Preface My mother had mentioned to me that her family s story is longer than a book, however, it is so hard for me to ask the details of what had happened to her because all the stories in her life strike a chord in her heart. For example, almost all of my father s friends in Hong Kong were the people who escaped from communist China. Their stories were soul stirring. Many of them left their families in China. Their vicissitudes of life contained joy, sorrows, partings and reunions. My father was considered very lucky because he survived. Many of them capsized in the rough sea; some of them simply spent all of their energy and died on the way to their dream; some of them were caught by the militias or the soldiers; some of them were extradited back to China by the British government. Their families left in China suffered numerous humiliations. However, more than thirty years having passed, their stories were dim without a voice in history. Either their stories were too bitter to bring up, or they did not want to be named as a traitor to their country. During Mao s era, and even for a while after, anyone who escaped to Hong Kong was considered a traitor and turned over to the enemy. Escaping to Hong Kong was a very sensitive topic.
