The Political Career of Daniel Webster Essay
The Political Career of Daniel Webster
Daniel Webster contributed a large potion of the Civil War. To begin, he was born in Salisbury, New
Hampshire on January 18, 1782. His parents were farmers so many people didn t know what to expect
of him. Even though his parents were farmers, he still graduated from Dartmouth College in 1801.
After he learned to be a lawyer, Daniel Webster opened a legal practice in
Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1807.
Webster quickly became an experienced and very good lawyer and a
Federalist party leader. In 1812, Webster was elected to the U.S. House of
Representatives because of his opposition to the War of 1812, which had crippled New England s
shipping trade. After two more terms in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Replying to South Carolina s Robert
Hayne in a Senate debate in 1830, Webster triumphantly defended the Union states by a very powerful
but short speech. He said, Liberty and Union, now and forever, one and inseparable, made him a
favorite and made him well known among many people worldwide.
Webster and President Andrew Jackson joined forces in 1833 to try to change South Carolina s attempt
to nullify the tariff, but Webster and the
Whigs battled him on other issues including his attack on the National Bank. Webster ran for the
presidency in the election of 1836 as one of the three
Whig candidates, but he mostly only Massachusetts voted for him so he lost badly because no one else
voted for him. For the rest of his career he tried very hard to get to the presidency and ran in many
elections hoping to get his shot at the office, but it never happened and he failed every time. In 1841,
Daniel Webster came close to his idea of President but was only named secretary. President William
Henry Harrison appointed him to this position. When he got killed in April 1841, John Tyler was
brought to the presidency. In September 1841, all the Whigs resigned from the cabinet except Webster.
He remained to settle an argument with Great Britain having to do with the Maine Canada boundary
and he wanted to finish the
Webster Ashburn Treaty, which he finally did in 1842. The Whigs finally pressured Webster

The Movie No Country For Old Men
The audience of new movies are tired of the same genre over and over. The movie No Country for Old
Men is a combination of crime, drama and thriller. The movie takes place in the 1980s. A hunter
named Llewelyn Moss stumbles upon a drug deal that has gone wrong, and attempts to take the cash
left behind. As he takes the cash, he quickly noticed he is being followed by someone recovering the
cash. Between the sound, cast, setting, and props, the details put into movie make it a thriller like no
other. After watching it, No Country for Old Men will be a movie worth watching again and again.
Much detail was put into the audio of the movie. Throughout the movie, the movie producers used
little to no background music. Because of this, the sound effects were very noticeable and intensified
the movie. A scene in the beginning of the movie had a dog chasing Llewelyn. In the beginning of the
chase, the dog was quiet because of the amount of distance. But as the dog closed the distance, the
sound of the paws hitting the desert ground get louder. When Llewelyn and the dog hit the river, the
sound of them swimming helps intensify the scene. As they reach land, the dog jumps onto Llewelyn,
and he fires his gun. Right before he fires his gun and kills the dog, you can hear the dog breathing
heavily. This is one prime example how the sound can improve a thriller movie. ... Show more content

The costumes fit will for the actors and the settings as well. One of the main characters, Josh Brolin,
played as Llewelyn Moss. Throughout the movie, Brolin had a mullet haircut, wore a thick moustache,
and also wore a cowboy hat and boots. The villain throughout the movie was Anton Chigurh, played
by Javier Bardem. In No Country for Old Men , Bardem s character had a bowl haircut, and his
characteristics had a dark sense of humor. The combination of these two actors playing cat and mouse

How Does My Speech Change When Communicating with...
CA First Draft How does my speech change when communicating with different audiences and how
does it change the way people think of me? George Orwell said If thought corrupts language, language
can also corrupt thought illustrating that the power of language over our thought. People change their
register when communicating with different audiences unintentionally: including myself. In 15 years
of my life, I have always adapted my idiolect differently to my friends, parents, teachers and strangers;
but does that make me fake or vulgar? In Addition, our Language is an essential part of our lives and
as the population increases it has become more important to be able to communicate in various ways.

At school, my idiolect would change in the sense that I would become more formal and I generally

my reach for example: when talking to interviewers, or to one of my friend s parents. According to a
tally 50% of my English class think that I am shy and 50% think that I am talkative this highlights that
when I am at school and speaking to a fellow class member I am usually perceived as shy , as appose
to when I am talking to my best friends. This indicates that my language changes when I am talking to
people that are not as close to me as my friends. My class mates think of my language to be very
polite and sweet whereas, my teachers feel that my accent doesn t classify where I am from or where I
have lived. When interviewed, a school teacher said that, I would trust you because you sound as if
you are honest. This indicates that I have a polite speech and that my language is observed positively.
Besides, when collaborating online I usually use fillers such as uhhhh...hmmm when chatting to
indicate that I am thinking and I also use abbreviations in my text to consume time. Nevertheless, I

Maria Montessori
John Dewey, Jean Piaget, Body Bode, Ralph Tyler and William Kilpatrick are just a few of the
scholars who dedicated their lives in a labor of love to analyze, assess, identify, recognize and

how it should be evaluated. In a field dominated by men, Maria Montessori initiated an unprecedented
innovative scientific approach to learning called the Montessori method of learning. Maria believed
that children develop naturally. The Montessori Method is based on how children develop naturally.

Standard Oil Executive Summary
John D. Rockefeller a masterful and innovative business man in the oil industry created a near
monopoly out of Standard Oil (established in 1882) one of the largest companies that led to the
development of antitrust laws in the United States. Fours after the discovery of oil in Pennsylvania,
Rockefeller joined the oil business in 1863 (Pratt, 2012). The early beginnings of the oil industry were
filled with pricing inconsistency and no government regulation (Pratt, 2012). However, Rockefeller
was relentless and efficient in his approach to develop Standard Oil Trust into an industry leader.
While other oil companies utilized investors, Rockefeller s financial discipline ushered the operation s
use of capital through the use of an early form of cost accounting to reduce cost (Pratt, 2012). The
strict cost controls allowed the company to pursue vertical integration and produce competitive
advantages towards long term goals of expansion. The competitive advantages included acquiring the
largest and best refineries, centralized administration, built or bought pipeline transportation into and
out of plants, acquired large markets for refined products, and used innovative technology to develop
crude oil to make commercial products (Pratt, 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Louise Larkin Schizophrenia Summary
Louise Larkin is a 39 year old pale, stooped woman who has a face of a child, which is surrounded by
straggly blonde raids tied with pink ribbons. The patient has symptoms of schizophrenia, which is a
psychotic disorder in which personal, social, and occupational functioning deteriorates as a result of
strange perceptions, unusual emotions, and motor abnormalities. Even though she does not appear
suspicious or guarded, her affect was shallow. Ms. Larkin denies depressed mood, delusions, or
hallucinations, but presents a low level of functioning. She has become increasingly disorganized after
her fiancé broke off the engagement. This is followed by wandering aimlessly in the street, wearing
mismatched clothes, and mixing bizarre combinations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows a lack of emotional expression. During her interview, she did not appear suspicious or
guarded. Her answers became increasingly unique and irrelevant as it progressed. Ms. Larkin seems to
have disorganized speech. Patients who have schizophrenia may have trouble concentrating and
keeping thoughts. They respond with unrelated answers, where it starts from one topic and ends with a
different one. She seems to have loose associations where she rapidly shifts from topic to topic, with
no connection between the two topics. When she responded to a question about her cooking habits,
she replied that she did not wish to discuss recent events in Russia. Also, when she had to discuss her
decline in functioning, she said, There s more of a takeoff mechanism when you re younger. Asked
about ideas or references, she said, I doubt it s true, but if one knows the writers involved, it could be
an element that would be directed in a comical way. Not only does she have loose association, but also
she has perseveration, which is another type of disorganized speech. Perseveration is a repetition of
words and statements. Some of the answers Ms. Larkin gave were combined with the mantra, I m safe.
I m safe.
Her treatment would consist of medications and psychosocial therapy. Hospitalization may be
necessary to make sure she has safety,

Cardinal Law
Many people will argue that God was speaking to humanity in a language they would understand for
the period in history when it was written. Let s take a look at what religion has accomplished in the
twenty first century. Meet Cardinal Bernard Francis Law, former Archpriest of the Basilica di Santa
Maria Maggiore in Rome from 2004 to 2011. Cardinal Law was appointed by Pope John Paul II,
considered in the Catholic Religion to be the Vicar of Christ on earth (earthly representative of Jesus).

where your religious contributions are heading when you put your hard earned money into the offering

figures, the Archpriests, then up to the Cardinals, and finally the Pope. And where has this money
gone? To the families to silence them from letting you know of the rape and torture of your children at
the hands of Catholic priests. To simply say or hear the word rape, assuming a priori that you
understand what those children endured is part of the problem. You first need to put yourself in the

Indian Gaming Reservation Pros And Cons
Pros and Cons of gaming and tourism in Indian reservations Indian Reservation has been participative
in gaming ever since time memorial. However, participating rate rose rapidly in 1980 s when a land
mark legal case approved the natives to choose gaming as a source of economy, revenue and
employment. It is these litigations that opened the avenues for the tribes to engage in gaming
activities. It is often believed by the general majority that Indian reservations possess huge amount of
money generally because of gaming. However, according to Miller J. (2012), he doesn t agree with the
general majority. Although he doesn t dispute that Indian gaming is single largest source of annual
revenues, Miller argues not all the reservations in Indian have gaming facilities. Most dominant
facilities of gaming are casinos. Gaming is divided into three classes by Indian Gaming Regulatory

tribal membership where by the revenue distribution tribes only distribute on individual basis making
the tribe that has less membership to receive larger incomes only for those who are members. This has
resulted to emergence of political battles in which some reservation deny enrolment of new
membership because they want to have larger income by maintaining few members. Another negative

Essay on moral compass
In my past 18 years, I have been living in an environment that people telling me what should I do and

told me to study hard so I can have a good future. By going to school, teachers teach me that what is
right and wrong from the textbook and I have also been learning that from the TV, newspaper and
radio. The mass media is always a channel for me to receive what is right and wrong about the social.

street dance but my mother rejected it with not to affect adversely on my sister. She thought that I
should put more effort on studying but not something which is not related to academic. In school, I am
the pianist of the school choir and I am responsible for the playing the piano part in different occasion.
When I was in form 1, I was told to be the pianist for the Speech Day and it really affected my life in
secondary school a lot. Since all the pianists playing in Speech Day were in Form 5 before, I became

think I am not qualified for that. I would like to do my best every time on stage so that people would
agree with me and understand the effort that I have paid. As a result, I have tremendous pressure as
my moral compass tells me to perform well before going out to perform as there are a lot of people
looking at me and I would want to show them I am excellent player.

The Influences of Sor Juana and Julia de Burgos
The Influences of Sor Juana and Julia de Burgos
Most every human being has encountered a time in their life when he or she has felt suppressed.
However, not every person has stood up against the people and forces that have kept them oppressed.
It takes a truly extraordinary person to stand up for their self and to take a stand for the greater good of
others. According to Clare Booth Luce: courage is the ladder on which all the other virtues mount. The
Mexican writer, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz and the Puerto Rican writer, Julia de Burgos, acknowledged
the fact that they were suppressed by the male gender. Sor Juana and Julia de Burgos did not simply

In 1669, Juana entered the convent of Santa Paula where she officially became a nun. The convent
provided Sor (sister) Juana with the opportunity to read further and to reflect on her personal life and
on society through writing. Besides thorough studying and writing, Sor Juana taught and directed
theatrical performances at the Santa Paula s school for girls (Trueblood 6). As Sor Juana became better
known for her writing she corresponded to intellectuals in Spain and in the Spanish colonies of
America. By 1689 Sor Juana wrote the plays: The Trials of a Household and The Greater Labyrinth is
Love ( Sor Juana s Chronology 2). Even after Sor Juana died on April 17 of 1695, her writings
continued to be published. Very well known, the first edition of Volume III of Sor Juana s works was
published in 1700 ( Sor Juana s Chronology 2).
Julia de Burgos faced somewhat more difficult circumstances than did Sor Juana to reach her status as
an acclaimed female writer. Referring to Julia de Burgos, Carmen Delgado commented: a woman of
great sensibility, rebellious spirit, and exceptional intelligence, Julia de Burgos no doubt felt
imprisoned by circumstances ( Julia de Burgos 1). Burgos, the first of thirteen children of Francisco

Rising Cost Of California Essay
The Rising Cost of Tuition in California State Universities
The cost of tuition for California State Universities has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. It has
forced many students to take out expensive student loans to complete their educational goals, often
times leaving graduating college students steep in debt as they enter the workforce. Some of the
contributing factors that I am going to address are inflation, the rising cost of living and the varying
costs of different educational institutions
Webster s dictionary defines inflation: as a continuing rise in the general price level usually attributed
to an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services. During the
last 10 years we have seen and felt the effects of inflation. Services and goods have gone up in price,
but the minimum wage for most Californians stayed the same for a number of years. Inflation is a key
factor that has affected tuition costs in most universities and has helped contribute to the steady rise.
Public and private schools each typically have their own college inflation rate, which ... Show more

Inflation definitely has played a role and will continue to do so in the future as the economy changes
and adapts. It is clear that in the last ten years tuition cost spiked and in some areas doubled. The cost
of living was also a contributing factor for the spiked tuition costs. California Universities are amongst
some of the best in the nation, but they come with a price tag that unfortunately many cannot afford.
Finally the varying universities and the quality of the programs often dictate the costs. This was clear
in the comparison between Fresno State and California Polytechnic State. Both offer quality education
in specific fields for the right price. As some would say, A good education is not cheap, and a cheap
education is not

Hurricane Andrew Research Paper
Hurricane Andrew is a storm that destroyed South Florida, and the Bahamas, and ripped through
Louisiana, costing as much as 26 billion dollars.
Hurricane Andrew was formed of the west coast of Africa on August 14. When it passed the
Caribbean, the pressure system made it stronger. From there, the wave moved the storm to the North
Atlantic. People had started to leave the area right before the Hurricane started. Schools and
businesses were shut down, it hit Dale County Florida at 5:00 a.m. August 24, and it was high tide
when the waves hit. There was weird lightning streaks of blue greenish colors, and thick streams of
water. Some people said it sounded like bombs were going off. Roofs were no longer to be seen and
windows were broke glass everywhere. The waves surges were up to twelve feet high. High winds up

World Religions And Prayer
The World religions and Prayer:
Prayer is a part of everyday life for a believer and you don t have to be a Christian even unbeliever
prays. Prayer is so natural to man that is unusual, it is abnormal not to pray and it is normal in every
religion.
As there are diverse and countless religions in the world, prayer is one characteristic that is shared
among many world religions and philosophies. Generally speaking, all religions agreed on the needs
and importance of prayer in searching, worshipping and getting access to God or goddess. For
instance Muslims pray because they are commanded to pray five times a day and strict guidelines are
laid down for this. Buddhists also involve prayer pray through form of meditation and soul searching;

Prayer in the Christendom:
In Christendom, Prayer is essential to Christian living as the air is essential to life. There are two sides
to every prayer the human and the divine man s side and God s side, According to Martin Luther To be

The Epidemic Of Smallpox And Vaccines
When a vaccine is given, the human body produces antibodies against the foreign substance, thus
creating a defense mechanism for immunity to occur. A vaccine is defined as any preparation used as a
preventive inoculation to confer immunity against a specific disease, usually employing an innocuous
form of the disease agent, as killed or weakened bacteria or viruses, to stimulate antibody production
(dictionary.com). The epidemic of smallpox is one of the most groundbreaking moments in medical
history, It created the usage of vaccination to be extremely normal. Smallpox had managed to kill
millions of people, which was a large part of the population at the time. Edward Jenner came up with a
vaccine that could treat the outbreak of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a culture are we getting vaccines because they are mandatory and a part of the social norm or is it
because they actually work? Many infants and children are dying around the world due to preventable
diseases; Dr. Robert Pearl says, There is nothing more disheartening for a physician than watching a
patient die from a preventable cause. And, of course, the loss for the family involved is unimaginable
(Forbes). The parents of children in underdeveloped nations of the world are in need of vaccines.
However, in the United States it is a different story, where parents demand their children not to be
vaccinated. Vaccines are readily available to people, yet they refuse for many different reasons. Most
of the reasons given for not vaccinating children are because of religious reasons, forgetfulness, moral
beliefs, monetary issues and the theory that vaccines cause other health related issues, such as autism.
The citizens of the United States have been privileged with support from the government to vaccinate
all people who requested to be vaccinated against preventable diseases. Many people around the world
are powerless in getting vaccinated and die due to the lack of healthcare and resources and money. If
parents have a choice to make about keeping their children protected then why are parents not
vaccinating their children against preventable diseases? Immunizations

World Trade Center History
The Hidden History of One World Trade Center
The tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, One World Trade Center is a new but emotionally
charged icon for New York City. The spiritual successor to the Twin Towers of the first World Trade
Center, the tower rose from the ashes of 9/11 to become a symbol of both New York City and America
s strength and resilience. Few people, however, really know the hidden history behind this iconic
skyscraper.
After the September 11 attacks, plans were quickly drawn up to rebuild the World Trade Center. After
a contest was held to redevelop the complex, a proposal from architect Daniel Libeskind was selected
as the winner in 2002. At the centerpiece of Libeskind s proposal was a new signature tower for the
complex intended to soar to a symbolic 1,1776 feet into the air. ... Show more content on

A symbolic cornerstone was laid on July 4, 2004 even as the design was undergoing several revisions.
After several years of redesigns, the final plan for the tower was revealed in June 2005, though
financing and security issues held up the actual construction of the supertall skyscraper until the
summer of 2006.
Concrete pouring for the new tower was completed in November 2007 and construction cranes were
installed in January 2008, finally allowing full construction to commence in earnest. In 2009, the
tower s name was changed from the Freedom Tower to One World Trade Center in an effort to make it
easier to identify for the public. By 2010, the tower began to rise steadily above the ground and stood
at 82 floors by the tenth anniversary of the September 11

Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange
Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or
report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the direction
of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how rumors can
impact trade. The fluctuation of stock and commodity (raw material) prices on a daily basis is, in part,
due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to be factual,
statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone can make up
rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they will buy or sell.
News reports include important information such as: new product developments, company
restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the stock market
happens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process sets the stock
price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there will be more buyers
for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates, there will be fewer buyers,
which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn a big payday or be a total loss.
Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose, rumors have an effect on the way
individuals behave on the stock market.
To better understand how rumors work within the financial

Challenges and Opportunities of Achieving Consensus on a...
Reforms and changes in the United Nations have always been fraught with obstacles that must be
overcome amidst competing national interests of member states. There are challenges that must be
addressed and opportunities that must be seized for member states to come into consensus on a
proposal that would have repercussions and consequences to international and national policies and
norms, which would affect domestic, regional and international relations. The UN Emergency Peace
Service proposal, which aims to effectively and quickly respond to genocide and other humanitarian
crimes, is no exception. Challenges abound, but not without opportunities to move forward.

The NAM has the biggest number of member states and there is power in number. These countries use
their number to block proposals and because a two third majority vote is needed in the General
Assembly, the NAM is a huge challenge that has to be overcome. While not all members of the bloc
categorically oppose the proposal because of their ties with other bloc members through bilateral
and/or multilateral agreements, pressure from the bloc and regional organisations is significant enough
for them to abide by group decision. The position of a country, particularly a small and weak state, in
the bloc negotiations may altogether be supplanted by the position of regional or bloc powers.
The Philippines, for example, as it stepped down as a non permanent member of the Security Council
became sceptical of the principle of the responsibility to protect . Although the Philippines eventually
supported it, it opposed non consensual deployment of UNEPS citing the right to state sovereignty and
non interference to internal affairs in deference to strong members of the bloc and regional powers. It
recognises its responsibility to protect its citizens from R2P crimes, but not to act beyond which the
Charter authorizes. The Philippines representative to the United Nations, HE Hilario Davide, in his

Imperialization Of Greek Civilization
Very few civilizations have had as profound an influence on the world as those of ancient Greece. The
Greeks laid the foundations for fields varying from philosophy to political theory to war tactics.
However, this influence was not just due to their intelligence or success, but their widespread presence
in the Mediterranean. Greek culture was spread throughout their known world in two distinct manners,
the foundation of apoikia in the Archaic Age (8th century to 500 B.C. ) and imperialists by poleis,
primarily Athens of the Classical Age (490 323 B.C ). Though the culture of a mother city
(mētropolis) may have spread through two very different manners of colonization. The word is not
used in the literal sense, but rather hereafter used to mean spreading of culture , as the former can
hardly be described using the contemporary definition of colonization and the latter was through
Athenian empire building. These developments had a significant impact on ancient Greece and our
modern perception thereof. Like most of the ancient world, we can best analyze these methods of
colonialism through extant artifacts. I will analyze an inscription of the foundation oath of Cyrene,
which recounts the decision and manner in which the island of Thera sent its citizens to the form a
new polis, and the fragments of the Lapis Primus, a marble monolith that documented tributes to
Athens when the city was at the peak of its imperial age, evidencing the magnitude of their power and
influence in the Greek region. The Cyrene inscription is a short oath from the 4th century B.C. that
describes, from three centuries prior, the Theran rationale behind forming Cyrene, the manner in
which they undertook this expedition, and their perception of the newly formed city. The inscription
claims that Apollo spontaneously ordered the Therans to send a group of people to Libya in order to
form a colony, with their citizen Battos as the king. The Theran assembly decided to send one son
from each household, who was in the prime of life, 4 along with any free man who desired to leave, to
colonize Cyrene. The assembly threatened anyone who resisted departure with the death penalty and a
curse upon him and his descendants. Once the

Southwest Airlines Case Analysis
Southwest Airlines: A Case Analysis
ORGANIZATIONAL ANALYSIS
It is evident that the greatest strength that Southwest Airlines has is its financial stability. As known in
the US airline industry, Southwest is one of those airlines who are consistently earning profits despite
the problems the industry is facing. With such stability, the corporation is able to make decisions and
adjust policies, which other heavily burdened airlines may not be able to imitate.
Having a low amount of cost in their operations is one of the contributing factors in Southwest
Airlines financial success. Such low cost model of the corporation is brought about by an effective
strategy. Southwest uses only one type of aircraft the fuel efficient Boeing 737. ... Show more content

The company can spread their wings to new territories and purchase more planes to extend their
capacity and cater more customers. This would be very beneficial for Southwest because the company
will be able to extend its services to a larger market that is in need of their traveling services.
It is quite known that the airline industry has very high barriers to entry. This means it is somehow
difficult for new companies to enter such industry. Aside from the fact that there are already so many
established airlines that have good names and reputations, the vulnerability of the industry to
economic cycles somehow add difficulty for new entrants. Such vulnerability means that if the
economy is doing well, more people will have the money to pay plane tickets and travel. But if the
economy is not doing well, then people will have less money to fly and will use more cost effective
means of transportation. This difficulty for new entrants to penetrate the industry is an opportunity for
Southwest to minimize the likelihood of additional competition, thereby sustaining its current share in
the market. They may now focus more on their current competitors for market share rather than
worrying much about others entering the industry.
Having been very successful in their operations, Southwest Airlines is surely a target of competitors
focus. And by that, other airlines may begin copying Southwest s

However, the system is meant only to provide advance information to enable parents to make
judgments on movies they want their children to see or not to see (Wilson, Linz, Randall 4). Film
ratings are not a new concept. Since 1921, various forms of film ratings have been in existence in
order to prevent government regulation of the content of movies. In the 1920 s the National
Association of the Motion Picture Industry created a code of 13 subjects, including excessive and
lustful kissing and the word hell, that were banned from new movies. Ten years later, the Motion
Picture Producers and Distributors of America, an old version of the current MPAA, created the
Motion Picture Code to regulate the depiction of sex, violence, and vulgarity in films (Wilson, Linz,
Randall 4 5; Roth 6).
The offensive content of films continued to be restricted until 1968, when two Supreme Court
decisions changed this and sparked the creation of the current system, which is intended to be no more
than a guide for parents. Ginsburg v. New York and Interstate Circuit, Inc. v. Dallas both challenged
the legality of restricting children from viewing objectionable content, and in both cases, the Court
ruled that it is constitutional to prohibit children from viewing films without discriminating against
adults.

Mount Vesuvius s Eruption In Italy
1. Mount Vesuvius is known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the burying and destruction of
Roman cities in Italy as well as other settlements.
The eruption ejected a cloud of stones and ache to a height of 33 km, ultimately releasing a hundred
thousand times the thermal energy released by the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.
Roughly more than 1,000 people died in the eruption, but no exact numbers are unknown.
The most famous eruption occurred in 79 AD
There has been no eruptions since 1944, and none of the eruptions after 79 AD were as large or
destructive as the one that happened to pompeii.
The eruptions vary greatly in severity but are characterized by explosive outbursts of the kind dubbed
Plinian after Pliny the Younger, a Roman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The magnetic study revealed that on the first day of the eruption a fall of white pumice containing
clastic fragments of up to 3 centimeters fell for several hours.
Since the eruption of AD 79, Vesuvius has erupted around three dozen times.
The eruptions of 512 were so severe that those inhabiting the slopes of Vesuvius were granted
exemption from taxes by Theodoric the Great, the Gothic king of Italy.
Further eruptions were recorded in 787, 968, 991, 999, 1007 and 1036 with the first recorded lava
flows.
Vesuvius entered a new phase in December 1631, when a major eruption buried many villages under
lava flows, killing around 3,000 people.
The eruption of April 05 in 1906, killed more than 100 people and ejected the most lava ever recorded
from a Venusian eruption.
At the time of the eruption, the United States Army Air Forces 340thBombardment Group was based
at Pompeii Airfield near Terzigno Italy, just a few kilometers from the eastern base of the volcano.
Large Plinian eruptions which emit lava in quantities of about 1 kilometer, the most recent of which
overwhelmed Pompeii and Herculaneum, have happened after periods of inactivity of a few thousand

Effects Of Hormones And Antibiotics On Animals And Humans
The Effects of Consuming Hormones and Antibiotics to Animals and Humans Not everyone knows
what they are eating on a daily basis. Some believe what they read from the label on a package. While
another will go with what a commercial that they heard on the television said. The truth of the matter
is that you can not go around believing everything that someone has said. The only way that you can
be certain as to what you are eating is if you actually know what has gone into the process of
preparing that meal. There are many ways that someone can protect themselves and their family from
getting these possibly life threatening illnesses that could harm not just your life, but also a future
child that could possibly be consumed later on down the road. Throughout the past couple decades,
researches have discovered the causes of consuming of hormones and antibiotics in both animals and
humans. Nine out of ten calves in the United States are given hormonal growth stimulators. Some of
the reasons why farmers would give their animals hormone growth stimulators and antibiotics would
be so the animals would grow faster than they normally would. Since the animals are growing faster,
the farmers are making more money. The way that they are making more than what they would be
without using hormones and antibiotics is because the animals tend to eat more the longer they are
alive. If the animals are getting a boost in their growing process, they will not be consuming as much
food,

Pastors Brokenness
What marks most pastors who come to our ministry is their brokenness. In every case, pastors
resigning from their church are broken, beaten, and discouraged. Pastorless churches are a paradoxical
development in the United States. While plenty of clergy abound in the US, fifteen hundred pastors
leave the ministry each month due to moral failure, spiritual burnout, or contention in their churches.
Their stories, along with my own experiences in the pastorate, attest to several common traits among
pastorless churches. Churches who struggle to keep pastors possess similar characteristics and cultures
within their congregations. Here are ten observations:
Clergy Competence. For various reasons, a point is reached when a pastor simply is no longer
competent to hold this most trusted position in the church. Often, it is a matter of disqualification due

St Aquinas And Humanism
While we live in a world that idolizes popstars and political figures, we often forget about the men that
made our self expression possible. Humanism is defined as a philosophy that usually rejects
supernaturalism and stresses an individual s dignity and worth and capacity for self realization through
reason (Humanism). St. Francis and St. Aquinas were both key figures in the beginning of this
movement. Instead of reflecting on the holy they decided to look inward and also outward at the world
that surrounded them. St. Aquinas, St. Francis, and the impacts they had on humanism were
monumental and are worthy of discussion.
St. Aquinas started off his life in a wealthy family, but was always expected to go into a monastery.
His first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These beliefs gained him a rather large group of followers in a relatively short amount of time. He
believed that he should lead a life of poverty and that self denial would gain him true freedom. He
contributed heavily to society of his time, and today, with his idea of mendicant or mobile preaching,
instead of the centralized and permanent monasteries of the time. He also had an impact on the art of
his time period (1200 s). His reflection on the crucifixion and humanity of Christ made the artwork
portray those subjects with more realism and vividness. The Canticle of the Brother Sun filled his
followers, the Little Brothers, with hope as it was written in their language and discussed his love of
nature.
St. Aquinas and St. Francis both contributed heavily on the secular humanism we have now, but each
did so with a holy motivation. Aquinas separated faith and reason and for this it is said that he gave
rise to humanism and atheism, however, he believed in the integration of the two not a separation. He
believed that faith brings a certainty that cannot be obtained by reason alone. Sola scriptura was one of
his main beliefs which is that salvation comes by grace and through faith (Thomas Aquinas). While St.
Aquinas influenced the writings of his time, St. Francis has a larger impact on the vernacular arts of
his time. The arts became more vivid and realistic and portrayed the

NASCAR is one of the most rapidly growing sports in the world. There are people who think that
NASCAR is just a bunch of hicks going around in circles, but it takes skill to drive at two hundred

NASCAR divisions, the rules, and the new technology. Two of NASCAR s oldest races are the ones

Sprint Cup Series cars are unique in automobile racing. The engines are powerful enough to reach
speeds of over 200 mph (320 km/h), but heavy weight coupled with a (relatively) simple aerodynamic
package makes for poor handling. Their bodies and chassis are strictly regulated to ensure parity or
equality, and electronics are generally Spartan in nature. The idea for the Truck Series dates back to
1993. A group of off road racers (Dick Landfield, Jimmy Smith, Jim Venable, and Frank Scoop
Vessels) wanted a bigger audience for truck racing. They made a prototype for a NASCAR style
pickup truck. These were first shown off during the 1994 Daytona 500, and four demonstration races
were held during the season. The first event at Mesa Marin Raceway had six trucks. The other three
events were held at Portland Speedway, Saugus Speedway, and Tucson Raceway Park. Tucson
Raceway Park held four events that winter, which were nationally televised during the Winter Heat
Series coverage. These trucks proved to be extremely popular, and it led to NASCAR creating the
series, originally known as the Super Truck Series in 1995.
The rules of NASACAR changed a lot in the years since NASCAR started. The rules kept changing
due to advancement in technology, which meant different rules for safety. Some of the rules today are
that NASCAR allows bump drafting (helps drivers conserve gas) on restrictor plate tracks, no
speeding on entrance or exit of pit

The Culture Of The Mexican Culture
How many different types of cultures are there? Here s the answer there are many cultures. My story
starts like this; both of my parents are from Guadalajara well most of my family is from that part of
México. Being part of the Mexican culture is very different from other cultures, but every culture is
unique of its own way. Many Mexican people have preserved and still do many of their ancestors
traditions. Tradition plays a big role in my family for example: the food we eat, the music we listen to,
what we dance to and what we celebrate to. I wanted a sweet sixteen but of course being Mexican my
parents said no. Being in the Mexican culture tradition is that when you turn 15 you re supposed to
have a Quinceanera it symbolizes that you are no longer a kid but you are now a young women. Many
people think a Quinceanera is just a party but the real tradition is to have a church mass. Since I am
catholic that consists of me going to church and thanking God. Social behaviors impact your life in
many ways. You have roles and rules in your cultures. When you re with your friends you act a
different way. When it has to do with family or church groups you have a role and rules and your
behavior is different. Women and Males have different rules and roles. Mother is supposed to stay

Heartbeat By David Yoo Summary
Heartbeat is a short story by David Yoo that illustrates how a skinny sixteen year old struggles to fit in
and be liked by his classmates. The story takes place in an American high school during modern times,
as the text states that he returned to school , and it is mentioned in the text that he is eating a mini
Snickers bar, implying that he lives fairly close to the present. Dave s nickname is Heartbeat because
his friends swear that you can actually see the pulse on my bare chest. When his crush, Sarah,
comments on how skinny he is, Heartbeat tries to gain weight by working out, adjusting his diet, and
eliminating as much movement as possible. However, nothing works until he discovers the simple

Don T-Stop Believing Poem Meaning
Some will win / Some will lose / Some were born to sing the blues (Journey lines 24 26), and some
were born to be poets. In this case, it is Maggie Smith s Good Bones and Journey s Don t Stop
Believing that serve as great examples to that. All poetry, including songs, are artistic in one way or
another; short or long, rhyme or no rhyme, but they all have a meaning. They also all contain poetic
devices, which is what really makes them artistic. Journey s use of allusions, repetitions, and
metaphors is why Don t stop believing is more artistic and poetic than Maggie Smith s Good Bones .
These two pieces of art, Don t Stop Believing and Good Bones , share a very similar message which is
to believe that there are good things in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Repetition is a pretty basic poetry device that just repeated words or phrases to emphasize their
importance. Metaphors on the other hand are a thing that can make ideas go above and beyond.
According to Dr. Peter Fuda metaphors make big, complex things simple and are more familiar (Fuda
1). That is why they are so vital in making these two works good. Repetition especially in Good Bones
is used a lot for little parts of the poem that make them stand out, and show importance. Maggie Smith
repeats Life is short twice back to back (lines 1 2). Also at the end when she makes her biggest point
and repeats This place could be beautiful / right? You could make this place beautiful (Smith lines 16
17). She wants people to see that for the repetition of all the negative aspects of life, there is also the
good which is why she repeats this key phrase and the end of the poem. Journey s use of repetition is a
little different and broad in the fact that it is the chorus that repeats. Although it is a longer text it still
is an important part which is why they chose to use

Canterbury Tales Henry Analysis
Garnel Severe 5/31/1It start as an antechamber of the royal palace in London, where the Archbishop of
Canterbury and the Bishop of Ely(which is me) are discussing a bill, waiting for twelve years past,
which will prieve the Church of many people. They also comment on their new monarch, Canterbury
remarking that although Henry V s youth presaged little good, he is now a model ruler. All he says in
praise of the King s wisdom, is confirmed by the Bishop of Ely, who adds that just as strawberries
grow beneath the nettle, the King s virtues have ripened and developed under cover of his wildness,
ere he inquires how Henry views the bill they have discussed? Canterbury replies that although the
King seemed almost indifferent, an offer the Church

Blood Spatter Analysis
Analyzing blood spatter at crime scene is a science that has developed significantly over the last 20
years. David Camm was arrested for the murder of his wife and two children in 2000. Several blood
spatter specialist would be called to the stand to testify on the blood spatter evidence that was found in
the crime scene with varying results. Most notably, Robert Stites, a blood spatter analyst from
Portland Oregon credentials and capability would be called into question many times. Experience,
knowledge and credibility of the blood spatter analyst as well as the blood evidence found at the scene
led to overturning the conviction of David Camm. David Camm was an Indiana State Trooper who
arrived home in September 2000 to find his wife and two children shot dead in their car. David Camm
had been playing basketball with family and friends in a church gym, as he did every week. He left the
church around 9:17pm, drove home, discovered the bodies and called the police in a span of 12
minutes. David s wife, Kimberly, and their children, 5 year old daughter Jill, and 7 year old son Brad
were at swim class until 7 p.m before they arrived home (Fisher, 2013). David Camm became the
police s prime suspect almost immediately. The police theorized that Camm had arrived home at 9:22,
killed his family, disposed of the gun (it has not been recovered), cleaned up the crime scene, then
called 911 (Fisher, 2013). However, upon closer examination of the crime scene, specifically the blood

The Conflict Between Israel and Palestine Essay examples
The conflict between Israel and Palestine has tight roots in history, stretching thousands of years back
to when the Israelites first forged their way into the land, then known as Canaan. It came to its peak in
1948, the year Israel declared its independence (Beinin). Ever since then, the volatile area of Palestine
has become a battle ground for war, terrorism, and politics. The two nations have attempted to make
agreements, but so far, none of them have succeeded in creating long lasting peace. Since it is unlikely
that neither Israel nor Palestine would completely give up their land to the other nation, a compromise
needs to be forged between the two. The conflict between Israel and Palestine cannot stop unless
Israel lifts the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These restrictions have not completely closed off trade into Gaza, however. With heavy border control
on the surface, traders have turned to smuggling goods through subterranean tunnels that burrow into
Egypt. It is estimated that around 15,000 jobs are found in the tunnels, smuggling anything from
weapons and cement, to food and cigarettes. These jobs are very much high risk, however, with cave
ins increasingly common. (Myre) If Israel dropped their blockade and opened up more trading
opportunities for the people of Gaza, there would be a significant decrease in accidents in these
smuggling tunnels, and their economy would be better off. Above all else, it would express to the
Palestinians of Gaza that Israel was prepared to trust them. The second step in ending this violent
conflict in the Middle East is for Israel to lift their occupation and settlement on the Gaza Strip and the
West Bank. If Palestinians and Israelis had settled for the terms outlined in the original United Nations
partition plan in 1947, history might have taken a very different path. This plan would have split the
land into two different states, an Arab state, and an Israeli state. Jerusalem and Bethlehem, for their
religious significance to many cultures, would have become international regions. (Beinin) Due to the
likelihood of further Jewish immigration, this

mentions how academic language requires more comprehension of the language than interpersonal

students for who they are going to become, not the by the fact that they are struggling. A methodology
that is represented throughout the book that illustrates the ways teachers can accommodate their

What Is The Theme Of Alcoholism In What You Pawn I Will...
North America. A land of acceptance, or so one would think. With the arrival of Christopher
Columbus, the native inhabitants of this land became the scapegoat for many issues that settlers faced.
In retaliation, European s practiced genocidal behaviour, marking the beginning of a distrustful and
hateful relationship between the two groups. As a result, American Indian society is looking to
preserve its traditions and not allow them to be swept up in the rapid change of the modern age after
being ravaged by the Europeans. One story wherein a stigma against a group is present demonstrating
the long term effects of this treatment is What You Pawn I Will Redeem by Sherman Alexie. Within

Two Theory Of Wellbeing
The first theory of well being is the mental state theory. This theory argues that one s mental state is
the sole source of their wellbeing, regardless of the actual content of their life. A subtype of the mental
state theory is welfare hedonism. This view posits that wellbeing comes from the amount of pleasure
one experiences in their life. By adding up the amount of pleasure one experiences and subtracting the
pain they experience, one is able to calculate their total wellbeing . There are different subtypes of
hedonism, from psychological to ethical hedonism. Additionally, quantitative hedonists argue that all
pleasures are equally valuable, where qualitative hedonists argue that some things create a state of
higher or better pleasure than others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory argues that wellbeing comes from the actualization of one s preferences in their life. These
theorists argue that it does not matter what one prefers or desires out of their life or the universe. All
that matters is that these preferences or desires are satisfied. For example, if someone desires to live in
a certain country, then moving there will satisfy their preference and therefore lead to individual well
being. Preference theorists are categorized into ideal preference theorists and actual preference
theorists. Ideal theorists differentiate one s current desires with their ideal ones, or the desires they
would have in a perfect universe Actual preference theorists believe that whether or not one s desires
are irrational, misinformed, or harmful is irrelevant. These theorists argue that no matter what,
actualization leads to

Health Effects of Computer Use
Introduction
Over the years, there has been a large increase in the use of computers as the world is evolving. In my
study, the objective is to emphasize on the health effects of computer use in working environments
and domestic homes. The speed and effectiveness of computers has made a good number organization
and businesses depend on the equipment. When the computer was first introduced it was mostly used
by adults. In the present day, there have been an increasing number of children using the computer for
leisure and education purpose. There have been fears of the use of computer for long periods of time
which may cause severe health problems to an individual. The level of discomfort it causes as ... Show

The solution is to get a more relaxed chair that is comfortable and adjustable allowing the individual
set it up to his/her taste. For this reason, it is good to buy comfortable chairs that come in various
shapes and sizes to best fit an individual. This would help the individual keep a good position to
reduce back strain depending on the positioning of the keyboard and monitor in order to prevent
soreness of the neck and back. The issue of eyestrain is the most common complaint of computer
users (Doctor Smith). When people use computers for prolonged periods of time, it often leads to
symptoms such as eye fatigue, eye irritation, and blurred vision (NYSUT). There are other side effects
like; aching, tiredness, burning, and watering. The above mentioned visual problems are quite
dangerous to an individual s health and wellness. It is advisable to have your vision checked regularly
in order to correct this problem which can be quite straightforward and affordable. The methods to
follow in order to avoid such problems his to blink when working on the computer, take more breaks,
and engage in other activities that would prevent the person from looking at the screen. These are
ways of preventing eyestrains and vision problems. In recent times, computer radiation has raised
major concern that it is dangerous to people s health. When an individual exposes his/herself to
radiation, they stand the risk of all kinds of cancer such as tumors, brain cancer

Feeding American Food Bank Essay
Have you ever donated food to a local food bank? If you haven t or don t know what a food bank is, I
am hoping that you will by the end of this paper. Did you know food banks have their own type of a
free market? While reading this article, Sending potatoes to Idaho, I discovered many interesting facts
about food banks that I didn t know. I have learned what a free market is and how foodbanks have
been able to apply this economic principle to run more efficiently. Before 2005, Feeding America food
banks would just keep what was donated to them or new donations went to the food banks that had
been waiting for a long time. This method of collecting and distributing food seemed to work, but they
didn t consider what certain food banks needed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are also able to barter items. Bartering is when someone trades goods or services that they have
for goods or services they need. By bartering, then can negotiate equal values of goods or services to
trade. For example, if a food bank has extra canned goods, they can barter with another food bank that
has excess fresh produce. There are food banks all over the United States, and they each can grow or
specialize in different things. This variety is critical to the free market system being used by the food
banks. This way everyone sort of shares what they have, and it gets distributed equally. Feeding
America started its own market and they made their own type of currency. Making your own currency
is difficult because there are many factors that you must consider. How are they supposed to decide
who gets how much, or how do they make it so the prices can fluctuate and have the price level
remain somewhat stable? Switching over to a free market system came with a lot of those questions,
but for the most part everyone seems to like the system. They have had no major problems with the

What Is The Malfunction Essay
Thursday the 31st of August, I, Heather Scott had the pleasure and privilege to do an external clinical
rotation at the army base Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. During orientation, we were flattered to be
told that by doing so we are providing a service for our country.
I saw four soldiers as my patients. The dentist would do a brief external and internal exam, palpating
lymph nodes and checking pocket depths. I hand scaled and used the cavitron when working with all
my patients. I polished, flossed and applied a melon flavored varnish sealant. I disliked that the polish
was not fine grit, and would have to research and provide such evidence if I were to ever to be
responsible myself for the best care of patients. Somewhere along my ... Show more content on

My patient and I discussed ways to manage flossing with a lingual retainer as my patient stated he
dislikes flossing. He seemed very receptive to the idea of a water flosser. Another patient was very
interested that he could prevent decay from progressing into a cavity that would require a filling, if he
were to follow my instructions in how not to just stick the floss straight in between the teeth. I showed
him how the floss can hug the tooth and glide into the gums and not hurt.
This opportunity, having been given leeway to just do, allowed me to realize that I would be able to
appreciate the use of my loupes. All other times, when smothered in my personal protective
equipment, I could never imagine adding one more ounce of equipment to my person and the
inevitability of its malfunction. My loupes and their usage have always been seen only as another
hindrance in situations where I am already uncomfortable and unsure. Due to the light calculus levels
seen in the patents I was given to work with, I see the need for best conditions, such as light and
malfunction. I am eager to go back, bring and use my loupes, and wipe them down with Sani Cloths. I
see how quickly I could work with no fear of is this right? Given my own slack to just my job, I could
easily get through a patient s cleaning within an hour. I liked how I was just able to grab whatever
instrument I had and find a way to make it work. I enjoyed using

  • 2. The Political Career of Daniel Webster Essay The Political Career of Daniel Webster Daniel Webster contributed a large potion of the Civil War. To begin, he was born in Salisbury, New Hampshire on January 18, 1782. His parents were farmers so many people didn t know what to expect of him. Even though his parents were farmers, he still graduated from Dartmouth College in 1801. After he learned to be a lawyer, Daniel Webster opened a legal practice in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 1807. Webster quickly became an experienced and very good lawyer and a Federalist party leader. In 1812, Webster was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives because of his opposition to the War of 1812, which had crippled New England s shipping trade. After two more terms in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Replying to South Carolina s Robert Hayne in a Senate debate in 1830, Webster triumphantly defended the Union states by a very powerful but short speech. He said, Liberty and Union, now and forever, one and inseparable, made him a favorite and made him well known among many people worldwide. Webster and President Andrew Jackson joined forces in 1833 to try to change South Carolina s attempt to nullify the tariff, but Webster and the Whigs battled him on other issues including his attack on the National Bank. Webster ran for the presidency in the election of 1836 as one of the three Whig candidates, but he mostly only Massachusetts voted for him so he lost badly because no one else voted for him. For the rest of his career he tried very hard to get to the presidency and ran in many elections hoping to get his shot at the office, but it never happened and he failed every time. In 1841, Daniel Webster came close to his idea of President but was only named secretary. President William Henry Harrison appointed him to this position. When he got killed in April 1841, John Tyler was brought to the presidency. In September 1841, all the Whigs resigned from the cabinet except Webster. He remained to settle an argument with Great Britain having to do with the Maine Canada boundary and he wanted to finish the Webster Ashburn Treaty, which he finally did in 1842. The Whigs finally pressured Webster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Movie No Country For Old Men The audience of new movies are tired of the same genre over and over. The movie No Country for Old Men is a combination of crime, drama and thriller. The movie takes place in the 1980s. A hunter named Llewelyn Moss stumbles upon a drug deal that has gone wrong, and attempts to take the cash left behind. As he takes the cash, he quickly noticed he is being followed by someone recovering the cash. Between the sound, cast, setting, and props, the details put into movie make it a thriller like no other. After watching it, No Country for Old Men will be a movie worth watching again and again. Much detail was put into the audio of the movie. Throughout the movie, the movie producers used little to no background music. Because of this, the sound effects were very noticeable and intensified the movie. A scene in the beginning of the movie had a dog chasing Llewelyn. In the beginning of the chase, the dog was quiet because of the amount of distance. But as the dog closed the distance, the sound of the paws hitting the desert ground get louder. When Llewelyn and the dog hit the river, the sound of them swimming helps intensify the scene. As they reach land, the dog jumps onto Llewelyn, and he fires his gun. Right before he fires his gun and kills the dog, you can hear the dog breathing heavily. This is one prime example how the sound can improve a thriller movie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The costumes fit will for the actors and the settings as well. According to a tally 50% of my English class think that I am shy and 50% think that I am talkative this highlights that when I am at school and speaking to a fellow class member I am usually perceived as shy , as appose to when I am talking to my best friends. This indicates that my language changes when I am talking to people that are not as close to me as my friends. My class mates think of my language to be very polite and sweet whereas, my teachers feel that my accent doesn t classify where I am from or where I have lived. It has forced many students to take out expensive student loans to complete their educational goals, often times leaving graduating college students steep in debt as they enter the workforce. Some of the contributing factors that I am going to address are inflation, the rising cost of living and the varying costs of different educational institutions Webster s dictionary defines inflation: as a continuing rise in the general price level usually attributed to an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services. • 22. Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the direction of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how rumors can impact trade. The fluctuation of stock and commodity (raw material) prices on a daily basis is, in part, due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to be factual, statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone can make up rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they will buy or sell. News reports include important information such as: new product developments, company restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the stock market happens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process sets the stock price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there will be more buyers for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates, there will be fewer buyers, which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn a big payday or be a total loss. Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose, rumors have an effect on the way individuals behave on the stock market. To better understand how rumors work within the financial ... • 24. Imperialization Of Greek Civilization Very few civilizations have had as profound an influence on the world as those of ancient Greece. The Greeks laid the foundations for fields varying from philosophy to political theory to war tactics. However, this influence was not just due to their intelligence or success, but their widespread presence in the Mediterranean. Greek culture was spread throughout their known world in two distinct manners, the foundation of apoikia in the Archaic Age (8th century to 500 B.C. ) and imperialists by poleis, primarily Athens of the Classical Age (490 323 B.C ). Though the culture of a mother city (mētropolis) may have spread through two very different manners of colonization. The word is not used in the literal sense, but rather hereafter used to mean spreading of culture , as the former can hardly be described using the contemporary definition of colonization and the latter was through Athenian empire building. These developments had a significant impact on ancient Greece and our modern perception thereof. Like most of the ancient world, we can best analyze these methods of colonialism through extant artifacts. I will analyze an inscription of the foundation oath of Cyrene, which recounts the decision and manner in which the island of Thera sent its citizens to the form a new polis, and the fragments of the Lapis Primus, a marble monolith that documented tributes to Athens when the city was at the peak of its imperial age, evidencing the magnitude of their power and influence in the Greek region. The Cyrene inscription is a short oath from the 4th century B.C. that describes, from three centuries prior, the Theran rationale behind forming Cyrene, the manner in which they undertook this expedition, and their perception of the newly formed city. The inscription claims that Apollo spontaneously ordered the Therans to send a group of people to Libya in order to form a colony, with their citizen Battos as the king. The Theran assembly decided to send one son from each household, who was in the prime of life, 4 along with any free man who desired to leave, to colonize Cyrene. In the 1920 s the National Association of the Motion Picture Industry created a code of 13 subjects, including excessive and lustful kissing and the word hell, that were banned from new movies. Ten years later, the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, an old version of the current MPAA, created the Motion Picture Code to regulate the depiction of sex, violence, and vulgarity in films (Wilson, Linz, Randall 4 5; Roth 6). The offensive content of films continued to be restricted until 1968, when two Supreme Court decisions changed this and sparked the creation of the current system, which is intended to be no more than a guide for parents. • 32. Effects Of Hormones And Antibiotics On Animals And Humans The Effects of Consuming Hormones and Antibiotics to Animals and Humans Not everyone knows what they are eating on a daily basis. Some believe what they read from the label on a package. While another will go with what a commercial that they heard on the television said. The truth of the matter is that you can not go around believing everything that someone has said. The only way that you can be certain as to what you are eating is if you actually know what has gone into the process of preparing that meal. There are many ways that someone can protect themselves and their family from getting these possibly life threatening illnesses that could harm not just your life, but also a future child that could possibly be consumed later on down the road. Throughout the past couple decades, researches have discovered the causes of consuming of hormones and antibiotics in both animals and humans. Nine out of ten calves in the United States are given hormonal growth stimulators. Some of the reasons why farmers would give their animals hormone growth stimulators and antibiotics would be so the animals would grow faster than they normally would. Since the animals are growing faster, the farmers are making more money. The way that they are making more than what they would be without using hormones and antibiotics is because the animals tend to eat more the longer they are alive. If the animals are getting a boost in their growing process, they will not be consuming as much food, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pastorless churches are a paradoxical development in the United States. While plenty of clergy abound in the US, fifteen hundred pastors leave the ministry each month due to moral failure, spiritual burnout, or contention in their churches. Their stories, along with my own experiences in the pastorate, attest to several common traits among pastorless churches. Churches who struggle to keep pastors possess similar characteristics and cultures within their congregations. Here are ten observations: Clergy Competence. • 35. St Aquinas And Humanism While we live in a world that idolizes popstars and political figures, we often forget about the men that made our self expression possible. Humanism is defined as a philosophy that usually rejects supernaturalism and stresses an individual s dignity and worth and capacity for self realization through reason (Humanism). St. Francis and St. Aquinas were both key figures in the beginning of this movement. Instead of reflecting on the holy they decided to look inward and also outward at the world that surrounded them. St. Aquinas, St. Francis, and the impacts they had on humanism were monumental and are worthy of discussion. These beliefs gained him a rather large group of followers in a relatively short amount of time. He believed that he should lead a life of poverty and that self denial would gain him true freedom. He contributed heavily to society of his time, and today, with his idea of mendicant or mobile preaching, instead of the centralized and permanent monasteries of the time. He also had an impact on the art of his time period (1200 s). His reflection on the crucifixion and humanity of Christ made the artwork portray those subjects with more realism and vividness. The Canticle of the Brother Sun filled his followers, the Little Brothers, with hope as it was written in their language and discussed his love of nature. St. Aquinas and St. Francis both contributed heavily on the secular humanism we have now, but each did so with a holy motivation. Aquinas separated faith and reason and for this it is said that he gave rise to humanism and atheism, however, he believed in the integration of the two not a separation. He believed that faith brings a certainty that cannot be obtained by reason alone. Sola scriptura was one of his main beliefs which is that salvation comes by grace and through faith (Thomas Aquinas). Two of NASCAR s oldest races are the ones that are at Charlotte, North Carolina and Daytona international Speedways. Charlotte Motor Speedway was designed and built in 1959 by Bruton Smith. A group of off road racers (Dick Landfield, Jimmy Smith, Jim Venable, and Frank Scoop Vessels) wanted a bigger audience for truck racing. They made a prototype for a NASCAR style pickup truck. These were first shown off during the 1994 Daytona 500, and four demonstration races were held during the season. The first event at Mesa Marin Raceway had six trucks. The other three events were held at Portland Speedway, Saugus Speedway, and Tucson Raceway Park. Tucson Raceway Park held four events that winter, which were nationally televised during the Winter Heat Series coverage. These trucks proved to be extremely popular, and it led to NASCAR creating the series, originally known as the Super Truck Series in 1995.
