George Untiveros Research Paper
Take your biggest goals and dream in life. You ve have this dream since you were little. Now take a
stranger, an average stranger has a job gets paid minimum wage. And they want to take your dreams
or goals and life and laugh at you for it or maybe tell you that you could never do it. You were torn
down by it and you gave up because of that one person s opinion on you. Well not for George
Untiveros. George was born on August 8, 1948 in Huancayo, Peru. As a small blond haired boy he
was like any other kid in Peru. He went to school, did his homework and his chores and played outside
with his friends on his street. But there was always something about him that set him aside from
everyone else. George Untiveros always had an outlook on life and still does to this day, his outlook is
to follow your biggest goals in life and use a strong mindset to never give up on your dreams. George
s childhood took place in Huancayo, Peru. His family did not have a lot of money considering his
family consisted of seven children in his household and he was oldest of those seven. His parents
worked and him and his siblings went to school. George enjoyed doing what any other kid ... Show

yes is was his dream his big goal it was what he was waiting for. But his dad said he unfortunately
couldn t play that s not what his dad wanted for him. So George denied the offer and ever since then
George regrets listening to his father. He always tells his grandkids they who knows where he would

Pros And Disadvantages Of Onenote For Mac 2016 Training Guide
OneNote for Mac 2016 Training Guide
Remembering and recording important information or just something you saw can be quite difficult,
especially in a world where everything is going so fast. How about jotting down an idea or a sudden
inspiration? Imagine having all this in one place, while on the go. You probably would have known
about OneNote for Mac since last year and a recent update has been released, OneNote for Mac 2016.
This guide will provide all the details, guidelines, features and so forth.
What is Onenote?
Onenote is an application that is a part of Microsoft Office for Mac. It is a digital note taking and
information management programme that can be used at home, school or business meetings to capture
ideas, thoughts. Onenote eliminates the tedious process of walking around with notebooks or ... Show

Advantages
It is an easy and innate way to organize notes
Provides support for multiple individuals to work on one project
Easy way to share information
Ability to remove text form images
Disadvantages
It is still not up to par with the Windows version
Lack of integration with Microsoft documents
Videos cannot be embedded from the web
Overall One Note remains one of the most commanding note taking digital tools on the market.
Although there are features that are still yet to come on board it still performs exceptionally well and
is quite versatile. It lacks some of the capabilities of its Windows counterpart and it does not offer the
kind of versatility that captures everything that you desire as you may find while using EverNote, but
it provides tools for organizing your notes that you probably will not find elsewhere.
OneNote, on the other hand, is great as a efficiency aide, with its focal point on typing and notes that
are hand written, audio recording and tools for searching, and stylish incorporation with the rest of

US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
Company Background: Takata Corporation, founded in 1933 in Shiga Prefecture, Japan as a textile
manufacturer using weaving technology to manufacture lifelines. Piqued by American research on
adding safety belts to cars, Takata began doing their own research in 1952 using parachute technology
to manufacturer seat belts. In 1973 Takata began to voluntarily participate in the U.S. National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test. Takata was the only company out of six
other companies to clear the 32.3 mph crash standard. It was in 1979 that Takata began to research air
bags and begin developing child restraint systems. By 1983 Takata was supplying 800 air bags to
various U.S. institutions and in 1988 established Highland Industries ... Show more content on

Since air bags are a standardized component within the final product, the slightest defect can wind up
affecting millions of vehicles. As safety is Takata s motto they should have better quality systems in
place that would minimize the number of defective standardized products given the sheer volume
produced. Takata ought to have taken a more diligent approach to the defects and addressed the public
s safety concerns sooner than six years after a death occurred as a result of their product. Furthermore,
Takata cited driver safety as the reason for its controversial refusal to comply with federal regulators
who want a national recall of its airbags. I believe that Takata was not prepared for a full scale recall
so they decided to pursue a more hands off approach which was truly not in their best interest.
Because Takata prolonged the recall investigation, they were faced with several penalties, fines and
fees and as a result of their lack of effort to correct the problem, company shares have fallen and
Takata is reporting a net loss. There is also the potential for Takata to lose some of their customers;
however, it is important to note that Takata is only one of three companies producing air bags. Due to
the minimal choices automakers have for suppliers with regards to air bags, it reasons that Takata
might not be concerned with their position in the supply chain as the automakers would not favor a
duopoly. It truly

Clinical Characteristics Of MRI Data
All MRI data were processed blind to the order of scan acquisition (baseline or week 10), treatment
assignment, and participant clinical characteristics. Anatomical MRI We applied automated tools to
correct for large scale variations in image intensities30 and to remove extracerebral tissue31. We then
removed connecting dura manually on each slice in the sagittal, axial, and coronal views. We first
coregistered all participant brains to an initial template using a similarity transform that maximized
mutual information32 and then applied a high dimensional, nonrigid fluid flow algorithm33 to warp
each brain to the exact size and shape of the template brain. Brain tissue was segmented as gray and
white matter with a semi automated method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We applied spectral fitting to the frequency domain signal to identify peaks for N acetyl aspartate
(NAA), creatine+phosphocreatine (Cr), choline containing compounds (Ch), and glutamate+glutamine
(Glx). We modeled the spectrum for those peaks with Gaussian Lorentzian curves, which were fitted
to the data using a least squares curve fitting routine. The areas under the fitted curves estimated
concentrations of the metabolites in each voxel of the brain. We performed quality control of the data
by visually assessing the spectrum in each MRS voxel and rejected data from voxels with strong lipid
contamination, insufficient suppression of residual water, unresolved Cr and Ch peaks, or full width at
half maximum 12 Hz for the peaks. We then computed background noise for the MR spectrum as the
standard deviation of the real part of the complex spectrum free from the metabolite signal, and then
computed the signal to noise ratio (SNR) for each metabolite level. The average SNR for NAA was
greater than 280, an excellent SNR attributable to use of the 8 channel head coil. We then generated a
spectroscopic image (SI) for each metabolite as the ratio of peak area to background noise for each
MRS voxel in the brain. Taking the ratio of the peak area to the background noise accounted for
variations in receiver and transmitter gain across scans. We subsequently processed the spectroscopic
images to correct for both partial volume effects within each MRS voxel and the dispersion

If you re a hunter, you re reading the right thing. Do you ever have troubles blending into the wildlife
around you? So you can hide from that monster buck you ve got on trail cam, and put him on your

areas that have a lot of much, water, and bark. You can basically wear this about anywhere, it will hide
you very well because of all the different plants, and naturalness put into it. All of the elements in the

human outline very well.
Another type of Realtree camo, is probably one of the most used in our area. Realtree Xtra, it stands
for its extra effectiveness while hunting. This kind of camo blends in very well, year round, in many
different habitats. It blends in the best when the leaves change through fall to winter, and then early
spring before everything starts to green up. It has a soft background, that includes tree trunks, large

Why Should Military Be Mandatory
Military Service: Should It Be Mandatory? Fighting for the homeland means fighting for freedom, but
how can men defend their country against enemies if they lack of the ability to fight? Conscription is
strategy that utilized by nations to assemble a large and powerful military, prepared to be deployed in
times of war or when the need to ensure the power of the state emerges. Mostly, conscription is for
male and in some cases and some countries have also for women, and usually begins as soon as the
end of the study; at the age, 18 years old. It consists of basic training and serve for two to three years
maximum. Countries depend on their soldiers to protect and defend them, and that is the reason why
various countries have compulsory service, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people maintain that serving the community should be voluntary, and each individual has the
absolute freedom to join or not to join the military service. However, it is argued that military service
builds individual personality and improves his skills in combat and defense, so there is no rational
reason not to make conscription mandatory. A person s character changed for the better during his
service in the military. To begin with, mandatory service teaches the person self discipline. Michael
Anthony, an author who served in US army, writes in his article, What the Military Teaches About Self
Discipline, that discipline must be ground into conscript. He needs to gain physical strength,
perseverance, knowledge, and courage, n.d. When an individual joins the military service, he forces to
do more than he thinks he can; he learns to obey commands and commits to important values, such as
learning how to be punctual in time. Daily workouts, meals, and sleep have specific time in the
military service

Ford Pinto Ethics
Ford Pinto Case Study and Engineering Ethics The first Fundamental Canon of the NSPE code of
ethics demands engineers to advocate the welfare of the public and avert transgressions of safety and
health. In the 1970 s, the engineers who tested the rear end crash tests of Pinto prototype models
realized that the vehicle s safety standard was only acceptable to the more lenient current regulations
for safety requirements in rear end collisions. But, the vehicle could not pass the higher and upcoming
20 miles perhour crash standards. Since Ford was too eager to sell Pinto cars, lack of future up to date
safety regulations were overlooked, leading to the action of falsifying EPA emission data. This was

Analyzing an Organization
The Organization
Introduction
Organizations can comprise of a sole proprietorship, partnership or a corporation. For this assignment,
the reference is to the complex network of a corporation, Starbucks Coffee Company. It might not be
realized but their system is dependent heavily on a system of computers and telecommunications, with
the human resource managers delegated with powers to formulate strategies for recruiting people who
can take fast and accurate decisions leading to employee commitment, cost effectiveness and the
ultimate profitability of the organization. Such corporations are normally categorized into three
organizational configurations the functional, divisional, matrix, federations and networks.
Corporations are headed by a chairman or a CEO, followed by a chain of command that is manifested
in the organizational chart of the corporation (Alan, 2007).
Job Analysis
The criticality of job analysis in organizational success is a crucial function for human resource
management and is a disciplined process of assimilating information pertaining to the functional
aspects of a job. The information thus collected helps the human resources department to upload data
on the factors relating to, a) time for the job, b) details of tasks under one job, c) restructuring job
content for extracting the maximum potential of an employee, d) behavioral pattern of the employee
and e) an assessment of the attitude and aptitude required from a candidate for the job on

Creating An Effective Working Environment And...
The three learner profile attributes that I believe are most important in creating an effective working
environment and collaborative team are open minded, communicator and inquirer.
They will need to be open minded learners because to properly adapt to new situations, and new
environments with different people they ll have to understand there s more than one way to do things
which ll help them become better leaders. This will benefit the team, because everyone will learn from
each other and their different cultures. They ll learn from the places they ll be visiting and they ll all
get the chance to see the world from different points of view. As they do this they will be trying new
experiences together which will help them become closer and will let them build on previous ideas by

allows a person the freedom to choose what is right verse the consequence of the wrong decision. In
Hamlet Act 2 Scene 2, Shakespeare, allows readers to get insight of Hamlet s thoughts and emotions
through his emotional soliloquy. Shakespeare uses similes and a bitter tone to get Hamlet s

Appalachian Mountains And Appalachians
Appalachians
The Appalachian Mountains region is roughly 360,000 km squared, taking up about 3.6 percent of
Canada s land surface. This region locates itself on the islands of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova
Scotia, New Brunswick, and a bit of Quebec, with Moncton and Halifax as some of its major
cities. The rocks, most of which are mostly sedimentary, were changed drastically when Europe and
North America collided, causing its geography to be uneven, with many jagged peaks. Forestry,
agriculture, fishing, tourism, coal mining, logging, and manufacturing are their main industries.Their
overall population lands at a bit more than 25 million. Some interesting facts are that they have the
oldest mountains and the richest fishing.
Canadian Shield Despite covering 5 million km squared of land (over 50 percent) it does not have
ideal soil for crops while having the richest area for mining. The Canadian Shield occupies most of
Quebec, much of Ontario, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories and a small portion
of Alberta. Some of the jobs in this area of only 7 million are lumbering, mining, and manufacturing.
Their land contains mostly igneous and metamorphic rock plus many minerals (gold, nickel, lead,
copper, zinc,). When the tectonic plates collided the mountains, later eroded to flatland or rounded
hills. Its geography also contains rivers and lakes from glaciers. Some of their largest cities are
Montreal and Kugluktuk.

President DJ Brackish stood behind his desk in the oval office staring out the window at the white

had become two mile long lists that intertwined too often over his past term as president. He had done
what no other president could accomplish before him. He stopped wars worldwide, ended terrorism,
and helped to create an economic boom as great as the 1920 s except without the political corruption
and the possibility of being long lasting. However, with his success as president came losses in his

Mediating Variables Essay
1) Discuss the concepts of mediating and moderating variables. Be sure to clarify how these concepts
are different and how they are similar.
The reason why one variable effects another does not always occur in isolation, there are both
mediating and moderating variables that may influence a causal relationship.
Mediating Variables They are a necessary third variable between two items. That is, without mediating
variable, b , variable a will not produce a specific effect on variable, c. (Crano Brewer, 2002)
Moderating variables A third variable that can either enhance or suppress a relationship. Its existence
does not cause a specific relationship to occur. (Crano Brewer, 2002)
These concepts are similar in the sense that they both have an effect on the relationship but are
different in the sense that mediating variables are necessary in order for the relationship to exist and
moderating variables merely suppress or enhance the quality of an existing relationship; that is, the
relationship exists on its own but is either enhanced or suppressed by the moderating variable. (Crano
Brewer, 2002)
2) Review the different scales of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio).

Taking a Look at Team Connor s Organization
FINANCIAL SUMMARY
As per our analysis of TeamConnor s financials we explored that the organization has been having
difficulty in maintaining a positive net income throughout the past three years. According to
TeamConnors financials, we observe that there is a misfit between their goals, stated in TeamConnors
Goals for the Future, and their financial capabilities. With the net negative income over the past three
years, TeamConnor has lacked in updating their goals to match with their current financial standards.
According to our projections, continuing at this pace with income decreasing and expenses rising, we
believe TeamConnor will be nearly $850 thousand in the negative. The goals of awarding more grants
with an annual increase of 46% through the upcoming years will not be attainable with the current
trend of income in the organization. With constantly growing expense like salary, professional service
expenses, and event costs, summing up to nearly roughly 45% of total expenditures at an estimated
growth rate of 30%, expenses continues to exceed the revenues each year. With a negative outlook in
the coming years with unrealistic goals, the change of strategic orientation is obvious and urgent.
PROPOSALS
As we carefully analyzed the current strategic orientation of TeamConnor organization we came
across some key issues that need to be addressed. According to the information provided, we believe
that currently the organization is having issues with focusing on their

Dr. Pangloss In Voltaire s Candide
It can be argued that all the characters in Voltaire s Candide exist for a uniquely singular purpose, and
to this fact Pangloss is no exception. While Pangloss is only to be found in a few of Candide s
adventures, he does influence Candide, and therefore acts as the underlying force affecting Voltaire s
entire novel. Dr. Pangloss represents unprogressive, stagnant thought, as he is completely inflexible in
his beliefs; not often calling into questioning the effects of his oversimplified view of the world.
Throughout this tale the dire and sometimes catastrophic consequences of Pangloss s ignorant and
unremitting optimism are so easily spotted that it can be seen as an obvious warning from Voltaire

helping a sailor from drowning. As he bobs up and down in the sea Candide makes and effort to go in
after him. An attempt that is quickly stopped by Pangloss. Instead of allowing Candide to save his
benefactor from certain death Pangloss begins with a priori explanations about how the very water
Jacque had drowned in was created for that sole and perfect purpose. This kind of thought leaves room
to wonder if there is ever a situation in which intervention is acceptable to Pangloss unless it is on his
own terms. One analysis of Jacque s death (Scherr, 2006) proposes that it is by no means that fault of
Pangloss, but rather that of Candide since he did not show will power or courage to question Pangloss
s rudimentary explanations in order to save his once savior. This of course does not take into account
that Pangloss knows the profound influence his teachings have over Candide. Instead, Pangloss
promotes passivity through accepting that everything is for the best engaging in philosophical banter
while a man who showed great generosity toward him drowns without aid even when it may have
been offered. The tragedy of Pangloss s self absorbed philosophy further ensues following the sad loss
of the Anabaptist. Again, to demonstrate the ignorant thought process of Pangloss that puts others and

The Principal Crusades
The Crusades were a series of Holy Wars launched by the Christian states of Europe against the
Saracens and the rescuing of holy places of Palestine from the hands of the Mohammedans. (Alchin 1)
There were eight Crusades in number; the first four were sometimes called the Principal Crusades, and
the remaining four were the called the Minor Crusades. (Alchin 1) The Principal Crusades, however,
were considered to be the most important. (Alchin 1) The Principal Crusades started because of key
people or key events, which led to affect history. Every crusade contained key people, which helped
spark the crusades, or contained key leaders that were important in conquering them. The first impulse
to the Crusade came from an appeal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Alchin 6) Then the grand assault came. The first assault made by the Christians upon the walls of the
city was repulsed; but the second was successful, and the city was in the hands of the crusaders by
July 1099. (Alchin 7) Once inside the city, the crusaders massacred their enemies without mercy.
(Alchin 7)
The fall and massacre of the city of Edessa sparked the second crusade. In the year 1146, the city of
Edessa, the bulwark of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem on the side towards Mesopotamia, was taken
by the Turks, and the entire population was slaughtered, or sold into slavery. (Alchin 9) This disaster
threw the entire West into a state of the greatest alarm, lest the little Christian state and all the holy
places should again fall into the hands of the infidels. (Alchin 9) The second crusade, though begun
under the most favorable auspices, had an unhappy ending. (Alchin 12) Of the great host that set out
from Europe, only a few thousands escaped annihilation in Asia Minor at the hands of the Turks.
(Alchin 12) Louis and Conrad, with the remnants of their armies, made a joint attack on Damascus,
but had to raise the siege after a few days. (Alchin 12) This closed the second crusade.
The capture of Jerusalem by Saladin stimulated the third crusade. Having made himself sultan of
Egypt, Saladin united the Moslems of Syria under his sway and then advanced against the Latin
Kingdom of Jerusalem.

Steven Spielberg s Adaptation Of Amistad
In Steven Spielberg s adaptation of Amistad, a group of Africans were kidnapped from their home,
Sierra Leone, Africa, in 1839 and shipped to Havana, Cuba. The leader of the group named Cinque
Joseph, led a mutiny against the Spanish crew. The remaining Spaniards, Ruiz and Montes, claimed
they would steer the ship back to Africa, but arrived off the coast of the Northern state of Connecticut.
Cinque s group was arrested and charged with mutiny. Real estate lawyer named Roger Baldwin,
former President of the United States of America, John Quincy Adams, and a former slave Theodore
Joadson, aid the Africans in the landmark legal battle to liberate them. This case provided the
Abolitionist Movement, a lobby group created to fight slavery, with great publicity. The legal
significance of this case is that non slave Africans were kidnapped and illegally sold. The International
Slave Trade was outlawed by treaties by 1839. In Addition, it was illegal under the Spanish Law.
Although slavery was legal in America, more so in the south, it was illegal to bring in new slaves.

Why Do Women Have It All Essay
How Women Can Have It All Gender inequality has always been an issue in our country, and many
kinds of literatures were written in regard to that problem. Two of those were: Why Women Still Can t
Have It All by Anne Marie Slaughter and Why Men Can t Have It All by Richard Dorment. While
both Anne Marie Slaughter and Richard Dorment focused on discussing different problems, both
essays have a similar theme, which is the issue of how women have always been dominated by men in
workplaces and how women will overcome this obstacle. Both of the two authors give various
examples about the problems being faced by women. Anne Marie Slaughter uses some of the real life
situation to convey those problems. That includes when the author says, many struggle to find any job

they have (685). Slaughter mentions plenty of problems by women that does not usually seen by many
people today. Richard Dorment criticizes why women does not have much advantages in workplaces

Stereotypes Of Dinosaurs
Through excavating in bone beds it has become apparent that dinosaurs were more than singular
animals and followed patterns displayed by many current animal groups when concerning family.
Dinosaurs had ranks within their herds and there where often struggles of territoriality, social
dominance, court ship, and feeding (Tanke Currie, 1998, pg. 181. These insights have been gained
from light tooth scars around the snout and on top of the skulls of many dinosaurs. While family units
where common among herbivores, theropods also had herds, though they where often smaller in size.
Among herbivores herding was often a means of protection for both adults but also young and un

Death Of A Salesman By Willy Loman
After all the highways, and the trains, and the appointments, and the years, you end up worth more
dead than alive. This is said by Willy Loman in Act 2 of the play Death of a Salesman. Willy is a 63
year old man who has been a salesman for 34 years working for the same company. As he ages, his
sales decrease due to his lack of strength and pep. The opening quote is Willy reflecting on his
worthlessness of all the years that he spent working. Once Willy gets fired he feels as though he has
nothing left. This is not how Willy pictured his life and this ends up alienating him from himself and
also his family. According to Karl Marx, capitalism it the cause for this alienation. Capitalism is seen
as the American Dream with so many possibilities to become a success. Marx does not see capitalism
this way. In fact, he sees it as the exact opposite. Rather than living a meaningful life, Marx thinks that
because of capitalism that people live an alienated life. He thinks that we are dominated by impersonal
powers and that people do not have control over their own life when capitalism is in the way. Marx
says, the positing of social activity, the consolidation of our product as a real power over us, growing
out of our control. Marx imagines society pre and post capitalism and sees it as a better place. He
thinks that if we drastically reorganized our economic system, alienation could be abolished. One of
Marx s biggest claims is that because of work, people stress themselves

INTRODUCTION
The question most firefighters have, Are trusses with no gusset plates as safe as trusses with gusset
plates while being exposed to a fire?
Pre engineered wood trusses are designed by truss engineers for light weight construction. The use of
metal plate connected trusses in construction is popular because of cost effectiveness, versatility, and
ease of construction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the metal truss plate reflects some of the heat away from the wood slowing down the charring
process.
The disadvantages of a metal gusset plate s behavior while being exposed to extreme heat conditions
from a fire include th fact that the galvanized metal gusset plate s teeth do not penetrate the wood all
that deep. The wood the plates are connecting, have a charring rate of 1/40 inch per minute. The truss
plate s teeth have a minimum depth of 3/8 inch. So during a typical fire, the wood will lose 3/8 inch of
its body in approximately 15 minutes leaving the teeth of the metal truss plate completely exposed.
This will then cause the metal truss plate to fall off allowing that joint to lose its integrity. Once a joint
on a truss is compromised, the weight it previously carried will be transferred to the next closest
joints. These joints in return can not carry the additional load while being exposed to the fire causing
them to lose their integrity resulting in a complete failure of the truss assembly. Whereas, the adhesive
used for the glued finger jointed truss will maintain its structural integrity longer than the truss
members.
Another disadvantage of the metal gusset plate is that a gap up to 1/8 of an inch is allowable. This gap
between members of the truss system members will allow heat and flame to get to the back side of the
metal gusset. When this happens, the wood member will char deeper and faster thus causing less of

Arguments Against Batgirls
Argument Structure:
(Intro) : In 1999 Gail Simone created a list with the number of heroines that had in one form or
another been stripped of their power through some form of abuse and then were stuck in the
refrigerator which means that they faded into the background while the males in their universe rose to
the foreground. This list was inspired by an issue in the Green Lantern comic in which his girlfriend
was dismembered and then stuck in the fridge. The issue focused on the suffering and of the Green
Lantern and completely ignored hers. This can be seeing as metaphor of how female comic book
readers are forced to fade into the background.
(Argument 1) Topic Sentence 1 and supporting statements: The idea that comic books are exclusively
meant for males is often reinforced by scholarly articles. These articles often rely on statistics and
information that isn t completely reliable. In the height of comic book popularity comic books were as
popular with teenage girls as they were with boys however, this data is often ignored. ... Show more

How Marketers Target Kids
How Marketers Target Kids
Kids represent an important demographic to marketers because they have their own purchasing power,
they influence their parents buying decisions and they re the adult consumers of the future.
Industry spending on advertising to children has exploded in the past decade, increasing from a mere
$100 million in 1990 to more than $2 billion in 2000.
Parents today are willing to buy more for their kids because trends such as smaller family size, dual
incomes and postponing children until later in life mean that families have more disposable income.
As well, guilt can play a role in spending decisions as time stressed parents substitute material goods
for time spent with their kids.
Here are some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Buzz or street marketing
The challenge for marketers is to cut through the intense advertising clutter in young people s lives.
Many companies are using buzz marketing a new twist on the tried and true word of mouth method.
The idea is to find the coolest kids in a community and have them use or wear your product in order to
create a buzz around it. Buzz, or street marketing, as it s also called, can help a company to
successfully connect with the savvy and elusive teen market by using trendsetters to give their
products cool status.
Buzz marketing is particularly well suited to the Internet, where young Net promoters use
newsgroups, chat rooms and blogs to spread the word about music, clothes and other products among
unsuspecting users.
Commercialization in education
School used to be a place where children were protected from the advertising and consumer messages
that permeated their world but not any more. Budget shortfalls are forcing school boards to allow
corporations access to students in exchange for badly needed cash, computers and educational
materials.
Corporations realize the power of the school environment for promoting their name and products. A
school setting delivers a captive youth audience and implies

Racial Diversity In Social Media
In todays world of near total dependence on the internet, it becomes increasingly noticed that our
popular culture is defined by the racially diverse nature of most social media platforms. Social media
is well known as a catalyst for any activism or social reformation movements that occur nearly every
day around the world. Platforms such as Facebook or Twitter often start debates over things that
happen online, on television, or in the real world. Those who use interactive multimedia are very
racially diverse and bring unique ideas and arguments to the international community of the internet.
However, it is apparent that both Twitter and Facebook have varied approaches when inviting those of
racial diversity onto their platforms and making them feel welcomed there. It has become an accepted
business practice to meet a certain quota of hiring from diverse racial groups. This trend of identifying
racial diversity began with the idea of setting targets has its roots in affirmative action policies in the
US and South Africa (Jacobs, 1). Previous social movements resulted in the push to identify numbers
regarding grouping those of different ethnic groups. As of the year 2016, the United States
government issued a three hundred dollar diversity fund (Jacobs, 2) to identify the rate of hiring
diverse groupings. Companies began to feel pressure from social activism resulting in this new quota
that they must meet to stay respected within the community of those who fight for diversity on the
internet.
While the expansion of hiring those of diverse brackets can create a positive professional and
educational atmosphere, it can also create a feeling of tension between those separate groups. It is
feared that meeting the diversity percentage issued by the United States government may overshadow
those who may work hard for a job or college acceptance. However, by employing a diverse
workforce, a company has the ability to have different perspective on racially sensitive topics. If
someone of similar racial backgrounds marketed a product used predominantly by one race, then it
would result in the possibility of increased sales. Both Facebook and Twitter have been feuding over
power and recognition since the 2000 s as

The Australian Work Health And Safety Strategy
The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012 2022 identifies several priority industries.
Priority industries are identified as having a high number of injury and / or fatalities or hazardous in
nature (Safe Work Australia, 2012). The foundation of risk management is to prevent incidents from
occurring. Accident causation theory are models or tools that are used to assist in investigating
incidents in order to prevent recurrence (Boyle, 2012). The construction industry has been identified
as a priority industry for Australia (Safe Work Australia, 2012) and will be the focus of the review.
The development of an incident reporting template will be supported by causation models identified as
relevant to the construction industry. This template will be designed for a medium sized organisation
defined as having 21 99 workers. This study starts by performing a review and literature critic of
accident causation theories and models. This review highlights the two most relevant causation
theories to the construction industry as Reason s Swiss cheese model and System dynamics model for
the causation of unsafe behaviours (SD CUB). Both models are discussed in more detail with a
comparison of model strengths and weaknesses. From the comparison an incident reporting template
is developed. Finally it is argued that a systematic robust model should be applied that can manage the
variables in the changing work environment of the construction industry and concludes risk

I went into this expecting a soft humored drama, but this is through and through a very funny film
without ever posing a threat to that dramatic tone. The comedy here serves the story, for the most part
it s all reactionary and situational humor, which is my favorite brand of comedy because it s the most
authentic.
The intertwining comedy and dramatic moments seamlessly adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard
would be nowhere without the greatness that is this diverse, versatile and overall expansive cast. Matt
Damon is put in an odd position here as an actor. He s not given much to react to, he s all alone for the
vast majority of the film so that rules out any sort of human contact, he s also not actually on Mars
which rules out the planetary contact, he s really only got food and practical effects to bounce his
reactions off of. It can t have been easy to tackle this role without much to respond to aside from
direction and inanimate objects, but he manages to be remarkably charismatic and fun to watch in
spite of the lack of a companion. In fact, Damon is so good that it s disappointing when you don t get
as much of him in the final act as you did in the first two. Those first couple of acts are so entertaining
and enjoyable that it s almost jarring when the film kicks into the finale. The climax of this film puts a

The Malleus Maleficarum, By Dominican Inquisitors Heinrich...
The Malleus Maleficarum, published in 1487 and authored by Dominican Inquisitors Heinrich Kramer
and Jacob Sprenger, was used by Catholics and Protestants as a bank of knowledge on how to locate
and prosecute witches. Though the text was published in 1487, it was still used as the premier text on
witches well into the 18th century. The text is incredibly thorough, covering the topics of witch
identification, explanations of how witches make their pacts with the devil, and how to effectively
conduct a trial. This text was written to be read by upper class members of the clergy and secular
governments. The audience of this text largely informed the language and content which Kramer and
Sprenger used and included. Because of the very clear and directed audience who was intended to read
this text, the authors got away with rhetoric which would not necessarily be believed or agreed with
by the laypeople who would actually be affected by the contents of The Malleus Maleficarum. The
Malleus Maleficarum is explicitly misogynistic when addressing who can be a witch, when describing
the pact that a woman makes with the devil, and the process by which an accused witch is questioned
and tried. The Malleus Maleficarum is very explicit about which gender is more likely to practice
witchcraft. Multiple sections of the texts specifically reference the fact that women are more likely to
be witches, and gives details about why women are more likely to be coerced into witchcraft by the

Les Demoiselles D Avignon Andre Salmon Analysis
I will be focusing on two of the readings; the Andre Salmon essay an Anecdotal History of Cubism
written during Picasso s time in 1912, and the David Lomas article In Another Frame: Les
Demoiselles D Avignon and Physical Anthropology. The Salmon essay, as the title suggests, focuses
on the Cubist movement as it was understood during his time, making sure to delineate Picassos early
work as Picassisme. Salmon recognises the novel aspect of Cubism as a way in which to depict an
object holistically through geometric forms and painting beings and things such as they are and not as

The Lomas article takes a more specific approach by looking at Picassos Les Demoiselles D Avignon
and how the form of the prostitutes could have been shaped by the dominant physical anthropological
doctrine of the day. Lomas also studies Demoiselles as Picasso s challenge and in many ways,
celebration, of the widespread belief about the degeneration of Western civilized society. Lomas
provides a background on the common anthropological beliefs of the day with a focus on
anthropometry, which gave scientific backing to the racial, cultural and sexual hierarchy; a hierarchy
that Picasso rebels against through the usage of primitive sources and morally degenerate subject
matter. The degeneracy of the prostitute s profession associated them with races at the bottom of the
established hierarchy. As a result of this association, Picasso depicts the prostitutes with the
anthropometrically assumed masculine body type of non western, and more specifically, African and
Oceanic people. Lomas provides examples of the preparatory sketches for Demoiselles allowing the
reader to see Picasso research and develop the prostitute s body

Popular Culture and Violent Behavior Essay
Popular Culture and Violent Behavior
Introduction
In 1871 E.B. Taylor defined culture as that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art,
morals, law, customs, and many other capabilities and habits acquired by...[members] of society. [1]
Taylor was talking about high culture, an aristocratic view of the past times such as ballet, theatre and
art. Popular culture, on the other hand, is a form of low culture and is based primarily on marketing,
mass production and revenue. Low culture is what is sold to the masses, ergo, low culture equals mass
culture. All these terms refer to popular culture, defined in the Oxford Dictionary of Sociology as:

The question I have posed is a very contentious one, which has been debated by scholars and
graduates for some time, with many arguing that popular culture and mass media are ways of
brainwashing the masses into the ways of a dominant social order. Others believe that popular culture
is a type of folk culture which encompasses the idea of an alternative culture incorporating minority
groups, perhaps with subversive values sometimes challenging the dominant control groups, as was
scene with the advent of the Indie music scene in the mid nineteen nineties.
In this dissertation I aim to uncover whether aforementioned subversive values can be uncovered in
popular culture or whether popular culture is really a means by which the masses can direct dominant
controlling forces.
The main way I will do this is through my research into violent behaviour and the impact that popular
culture can have on individuals and groups in society mainly adolescents and young children by
looking at susceptibility, attraction, reactions and influences. Figures from the internet highlight the
capability television can have to influence an individual:

When you think of God do you think of one divine entity or do you take into account the age old idea

different ideas and images to try and represent the Trinity. Like many things that have to do with the
unknown nature of religion we put our mental limitations on our ideas. This is only natural because it
is the only way we can comprehend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally the three coins are used because the coins are all cast from the same pot of substance to make
them. This can be cut down even further to say it has to be three coins made out of the same coin.
These are all different ways to try and explain an idea of what the Trinity is representative of. So to
start explaining the meaning of the Trinity we believe in God the Father Almighty. God begot his son
Jesus and sent forth the Holy Spirit, This is saying that these other two people came directly from the
being of God. This makes them directly a part of God. They are all of the same person however and
have their own individual identities. Many may get confused when they look at the Christian religion
and see that we believe in one God yet there are three distinct people. The Creator, the Savior, and the
Teacher are the distinct person s one would see yet the Trinity is how we understand them all to be one
God. So the meaning of the Trinity is to strengthen our belief in one God by explaining how he is
three person s in one. Next we must understand what the function of the Trinity is. The best way to
explain the function of the Trinity is to use the analogy of the chain. The Trinity work together and are
linked directly to one another to make one strong bond and to complete different tasks. First off God is
the all powerful creator. He made all that exists in the universe. He is the watcher of everything that

Citizenfour s Three Stages
Citizenfour is a documentary about Edward Snowden, alias Citizenfour, and his undertaking in
exposing the controversial and intrusive surveillance system used by the National Security Agency
(NSA). The documentary is directed by Laura Poitras, a director and producer of documentary films.
Prior to Citizenfour, she had published a documentary on Iraq War called My Country, My Country
and a documentary on Guantanamo and the war on terror called The Oath. Citizenfour thus became
the third installment in her trilogy on America after the September 11 terrorist attack. There are three
stages to the documentary: (1) Edward Snowden establishing a connection, (2) interviewing Edward
Snowden while publishing news on the NSA s surveillance, and (3) the aftermath of the disclosure of
information.
The first stage, set in early 2013, involves Snowden establishing an anonymous connection with
Poitras and exchanging emails that ascertain his ownership of information on the government spying
on the American citizens. Poitras reads several emails to the audience, ... Show more content on

archive of classified documents to Greenwald and explaining what the documents represent for the

Guardian that related to the surveillance issue. Several days later Snowden, the whistleblower, decided
to reveal himself as the source of the leaked information which had been tormenting the nation.
However, the reveal of his identity escalated in the news to the point where he was forced to take

Alexander The Great Influence
Alexander the Great was born to parents King Philip II and Queen Olympia in 356 BCE; he came
from the frontier state of Macedonia to the North of Greece. Alexander took charge of the Companion
Cavalry when he was only 18 years old and assisted his father in defeating the Athenian and Theban
armies and Chaeronea. His father had helped him turn Macedonia into a large ethnic and territorial
state. Macedonia held gold mines that were very helpful for Philip II by financing his new military
technology and disciplining full time armies. After Philips assassination, his son Alexander used this
new military machine in a series of daring attacks on the apparently invincible power of the Persian
Empire and its king, Darius III. (Worlds Together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Death Camp And The Ghetto
The Ghetto And The death camp In the war of World War two, life was hard when the Germans attack
Denmark and was planning to liquidate the Ghetto. I will be comparing a poem to a story. The two
people i ll be comparing and contrast Cristiana Chiger and Pavel Friedmann. Both people tried escape
from the germans and death. Sadly the only place they could go was the sewer, but Pavel didn t make
it and was sent to death camp where he started his poem. On the other hand Cristiana made it to the
sewer and stayed there for multiple months. This all happen just because they were Jewish. There
choice was sewers or dieng. To die from your enemy or live in torture for months. Pour Cristiana had
live in the sewer fourteen months straight. Now that you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in mind that I won t just point out the simple. I am willing to dig deeper into the mine, ... or
sewer in this case and find more differences. First off we can tell that there is a different person, a
different gender person and different age. The places were different as well. A sewer and a death
camp. To be honest I would have wanted to go to the death camp even if I would have a better chance
surviving in the sewer. Cristiana story was much detailed while in the poem there s just not a lot, but
we learn how much they are being torchered. This is not much because the story features torture too.
Last in the differences is the help. While Pavel Friedmann is not in the sewer he not receiving any help
before ... well anything I guess. In the sewer Cristiana and others received help from the sewer men
who come down and up giving food for them to eat. That s the sad story and sasd poem about
Cristiana and Pavel Friedmann. I hope you think about this and feel how lucky you are. For now pray
to the gods for keeping us safe. Before you wish that you had the best life ever think about how good

The Theme Of Holes By Louis Sachar
«If you take a bad boy and make him dig a hole every day in the hot sun, it will turn him into a good
boy.»
Louis Sachar is an award winning author of twenty five books for children and young adults. Holes
was first published in 1998 in America, and Louis Sachar, the author, have won several awards for the
book.
The genres of this book are drama and friendship, but you can also find a small dose of comedy and a
little love story in this book.
I mean that the main idea of the story is that friendship and acceptance sometimes can be the
difference between life and death. That you should accept people as they are, and don`t judge them
before you know their whole story. In this case, everybody, except Stanly, judged Zero (or Hector, as
he was later known as) and thought he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stanley isn`t too surprised when he in unjustly is sent to a boys detention center, Camp Green Lake,

It does not take long for Stanley to realize there is more than character improvement going on at Camp
Green Lake. The boys are digging holes because the warden is looking for something. But what could
be buried under a dried up lake? Stanley tries to dig up the truth in this humorous and child friendly
book, that will leave you speechless.
The story of Holes switches back and forth between the present and the past. It is actually hard to
guess how the book is going to end before we have heard about the «past». The transitions are gentle
enough between the past and the present so that the reader which is great. When the present is finally

people in the public having different ideas as to what the monument should look like for what it was

CHAPTER 1
BANK CAPITAL MANAGEMENT CAPITAL ADEQUACY FRAMEWORK
INTRODUCTION
Bank capital is often defined in tiers or categories that include shareholders equity, retained earnings,
reserves, hybrid capital instruments, and subordinated term debt. Capital ratios are commonly
measured as a percent of bank assets or risk weighted bank assets.
Bank capital serves as an important cushion against unexpected losses. It creates a strong ... Show

Banks list their capital adequacy ratios in their financial reports. The CAR is important to shareholders
because it is an important measure of the financial soundness of a bank.
Two types of capital are measured with the CAR. The first, tier 1 capital, can absorb a reasonable
amount of loss without forcing the bank to cease its trading. The second type, tier 2 capital, can
sustain loss in the event of liquidation. Tier 2 capital provides less protection to its depositors.
Because of the nature of risk under which banks operate, capital regulations require banks to maintain
a minimum level of equity per loans and other assets. This required minimum is designed for
protection, allowing banks to sustain unanticipated losses. The minimum is also designed to offer
depositors confidence in the security of their deposits given the asymmetric information.
An individual depositor cannot know if a bank has taken risks beyond what it can absorb.
Thus, depositors receive a level of assurance from shareholders equity, along with regulations, audits
and credit ratings.
The amount of equity a bank receives from shareholders sets the limit on the value of deposits it can
attract. This also limits the extent to which the bank can lend money. If a bank sustains large losses
through credit or trading, eroding the bank s net worth, this causes a decreased fund base through
which a bank can offer loans.
The CAR provides

Preterm Birth Consequences
The Consequences of Preterm Birth
Preterm birth is defined as the birth of a baby before 37 weeks gestation age. The stages of preterm
can be subdivided into different stages. Very Preterm is 20 32 weeks, Moderately Preterm is 33 36
weeks, Early Term is 37 38 weeks gestation stage. According to the statistics gathered by the World
Health Organisation (WHO) (2015) in 2012, there are more than 1 in 10 babies born preterm every
year with an estimated 15 million born preterm every year. There are a wide variety of factors that
cause preterm birth, examples including: a multiple pregnancy, substance abuse and smoking, assisted
reproduction and a low socio economic status. Studies have also shown that certain ethnicities are at a
higher risk of delivering preterm than others. According to an external study included Nosarti et al

Breathing with underdeveloped lungs manifests itself in preterm infants and Respiratory Distress
Syndrome (RDS), RDS is primarily caused by Pulmonary Surfactant deficiency which means the
lungs cannot expand and contract normal. If left untreated, preterm infants may become fatigued,
apnoeic and hypoxic (a condition in which the body, or a particular region within the body, is deprived
of oxygen). Apnoea of Prematurity (AOP) is a common condition in premature infants which
according to Kids Health (2015) is when an infant during sleep temporarily stops breathing for 15 20
seconds. This condition is most common in infants born before 35 weeks gestation age and infants
with AOP will also have drops in heart rates (bradycardia) causing them to appear pale or bluish and
their bodies to be limp. The likelihood of a premature infant having AOP is increased as their birth
weight decreases, AOP may begin 2 days after birth however in most cases it clears up after 2 3

Japanese Americans And Internment Camps
When the Japanese Americans migrated to the United States they were not welcomed with open arms.
The Japanese Americans faced many hardships. The biggest hardships they faced were their treatment
by the American people as well as by the American government after the attack on Pearl Harbor on
December 7, 1941. Japanese Americans were taken from their homes and placed in internment camps
for years with little to no explanation as to why. According to the United States government the
Japanese Americans placement in internment camps were justified on national security grounds
(Brooks), but the truth is Japanese Americans were placed in internment camps because of fear and
racial prejudice. This event in history is important because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 1924 the U.S. passed the National Origin Act which restricted the immigration of Southern and
Eastern Europeans and practically excluded immigration from Japan into the United States all
together.
To be a Japanese immigrant in the early 1900s was difficult but after December 7, 1941 things only
got worse. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese Imperial Navy attacked the United States naval base in
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Although conflict had been underway in both Europe and Asia for years, the
United States did not formally enter the hostilities until December 8, when President Franklin Delano
Roosevelt famously declared the attack on Pearl Harbor a day which we live in infamy and asked
Congress for a declaration of war (Wu and Izumi). After the attack on Pearl Harbor race became
increasingly associated with loyalty in the United States (Harth 254). What Japan had done was
blamed on Japanese Americans (Wu 2). On February 19, 1942 President Roosevelt signed Executive
Order 9066. Executive Order 9066 granted the secretary of war and his commanders the power to
prescribe military areas in such places and of such extent as he or the appropriate Military
Commander may determine, from which any or all persons may be excluded (Executive Order 9066).
Although the text of Executive Order 9066 did not specifically mention Japanese Americans, it was
intended to apply to them exclusively (G. Robinson and G. Robinson 4).
After Executive Order 9066 was issued it seemed

The Pros And Cons Of The Kyoto Protocol
Kyoto accord is a set of rules to the United Nations, on climate changes. This protocol is aimed at
fighting global warming; UNFCCC is an international treaty to deal with the greenhouse gases and
reduce their effect on the climates. This protocol was introduced in 1997 in Kyoto Japan and was
enforced fully in 2005. Almost 187 countries signed this protocol to aid in the stopping of drastic
detrimental changes to the environment. The protocol serves many purposes staring from the
awareness about the global warming. This then legally states that members must help fight global
warming. The protocol s objective is to stabilize the reconstruction of greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere to prevent dangerous altering with the climate. Specifically, ... Show more content on

Potential climate risks avoided include more severe weather patterns, abnormal ecosystems, less
biodiversity, less drinkable water, loss of coastal areas from rising sea levels, rises in temperature, and
the increased incidence of infectious diseases such as malaria and yellow fever. On the other hand,
climate change might benefit agriculture and forestry by increasing productivity with longer growing
seasons and more fertilization. Also, the Kyoto Protocol neglects economic as well as scientific
realities; therefore, qualifies as a fundamentally flawed treaty. The Kyoto protocol relies on
governments applying tax and regulatory measures that require companies to send out lower volumes
of greenhouse gases. This action would raise production costs and result in lower earnings for
greenhouse gas generating activities. An emission rights market created by the Kyoto protocol would
reduce earnings further. Due to the purchase of emission rights involving an additional cost, profitable
production will be lower. These rights risk becoming increasingly expensive as time goes on since the
aim of the protocol is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Companies will find these rights
increasingly hard to purchase. With the restraints enforced by the Kyoto conditions, some companies
will be unable to support losses from investments with no payback and costs required by new
spending on greenhouse friendly technologies. In addition to this struggle, are the costs resulting from
the fact that resources redirected to meet the protocol; several hundred billion dollars a year will not
be available for companies to invest, or individuals to spend on other more beneficial projects. Despite
global warming and climate change being a major issue, the economic sacrifices outweigh the benefits
of reduced greenhouse gas emissions due to major countries not taking the Kyoto protocol

  • 2. George Untiveros Research Paper Take your biggest goals and dream in life. You ve have this dream since you were little. Now take a stranger, an average stranger has a job gets paid minimum wage. And they want to take your dreams or goals and life and laugh at you for it or maybe tell you that you could never do it. You were torn down by it and you gave up because of that one person s opinion on you. Well not for George Untiveros. George was born on August 8, 1948 in Huancayo, Peru. As a small blond haired boy he was like any other kid in Peru. He went to school, did his homework and his chores and played outside with his friends on his street. But there was always something about him that set him aside from everyone else. George Untiveros always had an outlook on life and still does to this day, his outlook is to follow your biggest goals in life and use a strong mindset to never give up on your dreams. George s childhood took place in Huancayo, Peru. His family did not have a lot of money considering his family consisted of seven children in his household and he was oldest of those seven. His parents worked and him and his siblings went to school. George enjoyed doing what any other kid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pros And Disadvantages Of Onenote For Mac 2016 Training Guide OneNote for Mac 2016 Training Guide Remembering and recording important information or just something you saw can be quite difficult, especially in a world where everything is going so fast. How about jotting down an idea or a sudden inspiration? Imagine having all this in one place, while on the go. You probably would have known about OneNote for Mac since last year and a recent update has been released, OneNote for Mac 2016. This guide will provide all the details, guidelines, features and so forth. What is Onenote? Onenote is an application that is a part of Microsoft Office for Mac. Although there are features that are still yet to come on board it still performs exceptionally well and is quite versatile. It lacks some of the capabilities of its Windows counterpart and it does not offer the kind of versatility that captures everything that you desire as you may find while using EverNote, but it provides tools for organizing your notes that you probably will not find elsewhere. • 4. US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Company Background: Takata Corporation, founded in 1933 in Shiga Prefecture, Japan as a textile manufacturer using weaving technology to manufacture lifelines. Piqued by American research on adding safety belts to cars, Takata began doing their own research in 1952 using parachute technology to manufacturer seat belts. In 1973 Takata began to voluntarily participate in the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test. Takata was the only company out of six other companies to clear the 32.3 mph crash standard. It was in 1979 that Takata began to research air bags and begin developing child restraint systems. By 1983 Takata was supplying 800 air bags to various U.S. institutions and in 1988 established Highland Industries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since air bags are a standardized component within the final product, the slightest defect can wind up affecting millions of vehicles. As safety is Takata s motto they should have better quality systems in place that would minimize the number of defective standardized products given the sheer volume produced. Takata ought to have taken a more diligent approach to the defects and addressed the public s safety concerns sooner than six years after a death occurred as a result of their product. Furthermore, Takata cited driver safety as the reason for its controversial refusal to comply with federal regulators who want a national recall of its airbags. I believe that Takata was not prepared for a full scale recall so they decided to pursue a more hands off approach which was truly not in their best interest. Because Takata prolonged the recall investigation, they were faced with several penalties, fines and fees and as a result of their lack of effort to correct the problem, company shares have fallen and Takata is reporting a net loss. There is also the potential for Takata to lose some of their customers; however, it is important to note that Takata is only one of three companies producing air bags. Due to the minimal choices automakers have for suppliers with regards to air bags, it reasons that Takata might not be concerned with their position in the supply chain as the automakers would not favor a duopoly. Anatomical MRI We applied automated tools to correct for large scale variations in image intensities30 and to remove extracerebral tissue31. We then removed connecting dura manually on each slice in the sagittal, axial, and coronal views. We first coregistered all participant brains to an initial template using a similarity transform that maximized mutual information32 and then applied a high dimensional, nonrigid fluid flow algorithm33 to warp each brain to the exact size and shape of the template brain. Brain tissue was segmented as gray and white matter with a semi automated method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We applied spectral fitting to the frequency domain signal to identify peaks for N acetyl aspartate (NAA), creatine+phosphocreatine (Cr), choline containing compounds (Ch), and glutamate+glutamine (Glx). We modeled the spectrum for those peaks with Gaussian Lorentzian curves, which were fitted to the data using a least squares curve fitting routine. The areas under the fitted curves estimated concentrations of the metabolites in each voxel of the brain. We performed quality control of the data by visually assessing the spectrum in each MRS voxel and rejected data from voxels with strong lipid contamination, insufficient suppression of residual water, unresolved Cr and Ch peaks, or full width at half maximum 12 Hz for the peaks. We then computed background noise for the MR spectrum as the standard deviation of the real part of the complex spectrum free from the metabolite signal, and then computed the signal to noise ratio (SNR) for each metabolite level. The average SNR for NAA was greater than 280, an excellent SNR attributable to use of the 8 channel head coil. We then generated a spectroscopic image (SI) for each metabolite as the ratio of peak area to background noise for each MRS voxel in the brain. Taking the ratio of the peak area to the background noise accounted for variations in receiver and transmitter gain across scans. We subsequently processed the spectroscopic images to correct for both partial volume effects within each MRS voxel and the dispersion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it is argued that military service builds individual personality and improves his skills in combat and defense, so there is no rational reason not to make conscription mandatory. A person s character changed for the better during his service in the military. To begin with, mandatory service teaches the person self discipline. Michael Anthony, an author who served in US army, writes in his article, What the Military Teaches About Self Discipline, that discipline must be ground into conscript. He needs to gain physical strength, perseverance, knowledge, and courage, n.d. In the 1970 s, the engineers who tested the rear end crash tests of Pinto prototype models realized that the vehicle s safety standard was only acceptable to the more lenient current regulations for safety requirements in rear end collisions. But, the vehicle could not pass the higher and upcoming 20 miles perhour crash standards. This region locates itself on the islands of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and a bit of Quebec, with Moncton and Halifax as some of its major cities. The rocks, most of which are mostly sedimentary, were changed drastically when Europe and North America collided, causing its geography to be uneven, with many jagged peaks. Forestry, agriculture, fishing, tourism, coal mining, logging, and manufacturing are their main industries.Their overall population lands at a bit more than 25 million. Some interesting facts are that they have the oldest mountains and the richest fishing. Canadian Shield Despite covering 5 million km squared of land (over 50 percent) it does not have ideal soil for crops while having the richest area for mining. The Canadian Shield occupies most of Quebec, much of Ontario, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories and a small portion of Alberta. Their land contains mostly igneous and metamorphic rock plus many minerals (gold, nickel, lead, copper, zinc,). He was tired and felt old, but he refused to show it. His triumphs and personal sacrifices had become two mile long lists that intertwined too often over his past term as president. He had done what no other president could accomplish before him. He stopped wars worldwide, ended terrorism, and helped to create an economic boom as great as the 1920 s except without the political corruption and the possibility of being long lasting. Mediating Variables They are a necessary third variable between two items. That is, without mediating variable, b , variable a will not produce a specific effect on variable, c. With the net negative income over the past three years, TeamConnor has lacked in updating their goals to match with their current financial standards. According to our projections, continuing at this pace with income decreasing and expenses rising, we believe TeamConnor will be nearly $850 thousand in the negative. The goals of awarding more grants with an annual increase of 46% through the upcoming years will not be attainable with the current trend of income in the organization. With constantly growing expense like salary, professional service expenses, and event costs, summing up to nearly roughly 45% of total expenditures at an estimated growth rate of 30%, expenses continues to exceed the revenues each year. While Pangloss is only to be found in a few of Candide s adventures, he does influence Candide, and therefore acts as the underlying force affecting Voltaire s entire novel. Dr. Pangloss represents unprogressive, stagnant thought, as he is completely inflexible in his beliefs; not often calling into questioning the effects of his oversimplified view of the world. Throughout this tale the dire and sometimes catastrophic consequences of Pangloss s ignorant and unremitting optimism are so easily spotted that it can be seen as an obvious warning from Voltaire himself to reject blind passivity and cyclical ... As he bobs up and down in the sea Candide makes and effort to go in after him. An attempt that is quickly stopped by Pangloss. Instead of allowing Candide to save his benefactor from certain death Pangloss begins with a priori explanations about how the very water Jacque had drowned in was created for that sole and perfect purpose. This kind of thought leaves room to wonder if there is ever a situation in which intervention is acceptable to Pangloss unless it is on his own terms. One analysis of Jacque s death (Scherr, 2006) proposes that it is by no means that fault of Pangloss, but rather that of Candide since he did not show will power or courage to question Pangloss s rudimentary explanations in order to save his once savior. This of course does not take into account that Pangloss knows the profound influence his teachings have over Candide. Instead, Pangloss promotes passivity through accepting that everything is for the best engaging in philosophical banter while a man who showed great generosity toward him drowns without aid even when it may have been offered. • 27. Death Of A Salesman By Willy Loman After all the highways, and the trains, and the appointments, and the years, you end up worth more dead than alive. This is said by Willy Loman in Act 2 of the play Death of a Salesman. Willy is a 63 year old man who has been a salesman for 34 years working for the same company. As he ages, his sales decrease due to his lack of strength and pep. The opening quote is Willy reflecting on his worthlessness of all the years that he spent working. Once Willy gets fired he feels as though he has nothing left. This is not how Willy pictured his life and this ends up alienating him from himself and also his family. According to Karl Marx, capitalism it the cause for this alienation. Capitalism is seen as the American Dream with so many possibilities to become a success. Marx does not see capitalism this way. In fact, he sees it as the exact opposite. Rather than living a meaningful life, Marx thinks that because of capitalism that people live an alienated life. He thinks that we are dominated by impersonal powers and that people do not have control over their own life when capitalism is in the way. Marx says, the positing of social activity, the consolidation of our product as a real power over us, growing out of our control. Marx imagines society pre and post capitalism and sees it as a better place. He thinks that if we drastically reorganized our economic system, alienation could be abolished. Pre engineered wood trusses are designed by truss engineers for light weight construction. The use of metal plate connected trusses in construction is popular because of cost effectiveness, versatility, and ease of construction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the metal truss plate reflects some of the heat away from the wood slowing down the charring process. The disadvantages of a metal gusset plate s behavior while being exposed to extreme heat conditions from a fire include th fact that the galvanized metal gusset plate s teeth do not penetrate the wood all that deep. The wood the plates are connecting, have a charring rate of 1/40 inch per minute. The truss plate s teeth have a minimum depth of 3/8 inch. So during a typical fire, the wood will lose 3/8 inch of its body in approximately 15 minutes leaving the teeth of the metal truss plate completely exposed.
  • 29. This will then cause the metal truss plate to fall off allowing that joint to lose its integrity. Once a joint on a truss is compromised, the weight it previously carried will be transferred to the next closest joints. These joints in return can not carry the additional load while being exposed to the fire causing them to lose their integrity resulting in a complete failure of the truss assembly. Whereas, the adhesive used for the glued finger jointed truss will maintain its structural integrity longer than the truss members. Another disadvantage of the metal gusset plate is that a gap up to 1/8 of an inch is allowable. This gap between members of the truss system members will allow heat and flame to get to the back side of the metal gusset. When this happens, the wood member will char deeper and faster thus causing less of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Racial Diversity In Social Media In todays world of near total dependence on the internet, it becomes increasingly noticed that our popular culture is defined by the racially diverse nature of most social media platforms. Social media is well known as a catalyst for any activism or social reformation movements that occur nearly every day around the world. Platforms such as Facebook or Twitter often start debates over things that happen online, on television, or in the real world. Those who use interactive multimedia are very racially diverse and bring unique ideas and arguments to the international community of the internet. However, it is apparent that both Twitter and Facebook have varied approaches when inviting those of racial diversity onto their platforms and making them feel welcomed there. It has become an accepted business practice to meet a certain quota of hiring from diverse racial groups. This trend of identifying racial diversity began with the idea of setting targets has its roots in affirmative action policies in the US and South Africa (Jacobs, 1). Previous social movements resulted in the push to identify numbers regarding grouping those of different ethnic groups. As of the year 2016, the United States government issued a three hundred dollar diversity fund (Jacobs, 2) to identify the rate of hiring diverse groupings. Companies began to feel pressure from social activism resulting in this new quota that they must meet to stay respected within the community of those who fight for diversity on the internet. While the expansion of hiring those of diverse brackets can create a positive professional and educational atmosphere, it can also create a feeling of tension between those separate groups. It is feared that meeting the diversity percentage issued by the United States government may overshadow those who may work hard for a job or college acceptance. However, by employing a diverse workforce, a company has the ability to have different perspective on racially sensitive topics. The Malleus Maleficarum, published in 1487 and authored by Dominican Inquisitors Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger, was used by Catholics and Protestants as a bank of knowledge on how to locate and prosecute witches. Though the text was published in 1487, it was still used as the premier text on witches well into the 18th century. The text is incredibly thorough, covering the topics of witch identification, explanations of how witches make their pacts with the devil, and how to effectively conduct a trial. This text was written to be read by upper class members of the clergy and secular governments. The audience of this text largely informed the language and content which Kramer and Sprenger used and included. The Salmon essay, as the title suggests, focuses on the Cubist movement as it was understood during his time, making sure to delineate Picassos early work as Picassisme. Salmon recognises the novel aspect of Cubism as a way in which to depict an object holistically through geometric forms and painting beings and things such as they are and not as our eye recognizes them... . He describes the disjointed history of the movement and its artists, quoting Metzinger saying Cubism is a means, not and end. Salmon continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Lomas article takes a more specific approach by looking at Picassos Les Demoiselles D Avignon and how the form of the prostitutes could have been shaped by the dominant physical anthropological doctrine of the day. Lomas also studies Demoiselles as Picasso s challenge and in many ways, celebration, of the widespread belief about the degeneration of Western civilized society. Lomas provides a background on the common anthropological beliefs of the day with a focus on anthropometry, which gave scientific backing to the racial, cultural and sexual hierarchy; a hierarchy that Picasso rebels against through the usage of primitive sources and morally degenerate subject matter. The degeneracy of the prostitute s profession associated them with races at the bottom of the established hierarchy. As a result of this association, Picasso depicts the prostitutes with the anthropometrically assumed masculine body type of non western, and more specifically, African and Oceanic people. Lomas provides examples of the preparatory sketches for Demoiselles allowing the reader to see Picasso research and develop the prostitute s body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The depression however, did not last and Beethoven continued carrying on as a young musician. In 1790, Beethoven, just 19 years old, received a remarkable honor of composing a musical memorial for the death of the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II. With no reasons known, this piece was never played. However, more than a century later, Johannes Brahms discovered that Beethoven had in fact composed a beautiful and noble piece of music entitled Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II. It is now considered his earliest masterpiece ( Biography ). Just under two decades old, this man was pronouncing himself in the world. As Mozart said before, he was giving the world amazing music to talk about. It took the band Thirty Seconds to Mars and lead singer, Jared Leto a little longer to give the modern day world music to talk about. The band took a year to find a studio to support them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question I have posed is a very contentious one, which has been debated by scholars and graduates for some time, with many arguing that popular culture and mass media are ways of brainwashing the masses into the ways of a dominant social order. Others believe that popular culture is a type of folk culture which encompasses the idea of an alternative culture incorporating minority groups, perhaps with subversive values sometimes challenging the dominant control groups, as was scene with the advent of the Indie music scene in the mid nineteen nineties. In this dissertation I aim to uncover whether aforementioned subversive values can be uncovered in popular culture or whether popular culture is really a means by which the masses can direct dominant controlling forces. The main way I will do this is through my research into violent behaviour and the impact that popular culture can have on individuals and groups in society mainly adolescents and young children by looking at susceptibility, attraction, reactions and influences. Figures from the internet highlight the capability television can have to influence an individual: There are 7.5 violent acts per minute on television in the United States ... When the signal is submitted by the user, AgileFD is run twice, once with just the most recently submitted signal(s) in order to determine what data points to constrain the submitted signal(s) to, and then a second time with all submitted signals and past constraints to show what areas are being reconstructed well/poorly (green/red). Note: Selected points are indicated by turning to black. Results and Discussion This application was tested on a singular system, of Tantalum, Rhodium and Palladium (Ta Rh Pd). The metrics that will be analyzed is how well the Phase Mapper Game s solution compared to AgileFD alone in terms of speed, satisfying constraints, and having a physically meaningful solution. It should be noted that the user for Phase Mapper Game has much experience working with the system so the time does not reflect what would be the average for a lay person. The system was not tested on a lay person however because it has not been developed far enough to be that accessible. For this test of the application the solutions were compared for when only three solution patterns were found. • 42. Trinity Essay When you think of God do you think of one divine entity or do you take into account the age old idea of the Trinity? For all of time we have understood the three individual person s in God, the Trinity, to be one in the same. The teaching of the Christian church tells us that God is three unique and separate people s, but they are at the same time all one person in God. Now people have many different ways to picture or represent the idea of three people as one. The trial of history has come up with many different ideas and images to try and represent the Trinity. Like many things that have to do with the unknown nature of religion we put our mental limitations on our ideas. This is only natural because it is the only way we can comprehend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally the three coins are used because the coins are all cast from the same pot of substance to make them. This can be cut down even further to say it has to be three coins made out of the same coin. These are all different ways to try and explain an idea of what the Trinity is representative of. So to start explaining the meaning of the Trinity we believe in God the Father Almighty. God begot his son Jesus and sent forth the Holy Spirit, This is saying that these other two people came directly from the being of God. This makes them directly a part of God. They are all of the same person however and have their own individual identities. Many may get confused when they look at the Christian religion and see that we believe in one God yet there are three distinct people. The Creator, the Savior, and the Teacher are the distinct person s one would see yet the Trinity is how we understand them all to be one God. So the meaning of the Trinity is to strengthen our belief in one God by explaining how he is three person s in one. Next we must understand what the function of the Trinity is. The best way to explain the function of the Trinity is to use the analogy of the chain. The Trinity work together and are linked directly to one another to make one strong bond and to complete different tasks. First off God is the all powerful creator. He made all that exists in the universe. He is the watcher of everything that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Banks list their capital adequacy ratios in their financial reports. The CAR is important to shareholders because it is an important measure of the financial soundness of a bank. Two types of capital are measured with the CAR. The first, tier 1 capital, can absorb a reasonable amount of loss without forcing the bank to cease its trading. The second type, tier 2 capital, can sustain loss in the event of liquidation. Tier 2 capital provides less protection to its depositors. Because of the nature of risk under which banks operate, capital regulations require banks to maintain a minimum level of equity per loans and other assets. This required minimum is designed for protection, allowing banks to sustain unanticipated losses. The minimum is also designed to offer depositors confidence in the security of their deposits given the asymmetric information. An individual depositor cannot know if a bank has taken risks beyond what it can absorb.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Potential climate risks avoided include more severe weather patterns, abnormal ecosystems, less biodiversity, less drinkable water, loss of coastal areas from rising sea levels, rises in temperature, and the increased incidence of infectious diseases such as malaria and yellow fever. On the other hand, climate change might benefit agriculture and forestry by increasing productivity with longer growing seasons and more fertilization. Also, the Kyoto Protocol neglects economic as well as scientific realities; therefore, qualifies as a fundamentally flawed treaty. The Kyoto protocol relies on governments applying tax and regulatory measures that require companies to send out lower volumes of greenhouse gases. This action would raise production costs and result in lower earnings for greenhouse gas generating activities. An emission rights market created by the Kyoto protocol would reduce earnings further. Due to the purchase of emission rights involving an additional cost, profitable production will be lower. These rights risk becoming increasingly expensive as time goes on since the aim of the protocol is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Companies will find these rights increasingly hard to purchase. With the restraints enforced by the Kyoto conditions, some companies will be unable to support losses from investments with no payback and costs required by new spending on greenhouse friendly technologies. In addition to this struggle, are the costs resulting from the fact that resources redirected to meet the protocol; several hundred billion dollars a year will not be available for companies to invest, or individuals to spend on other more beneficial projects.
