Cheerleading Satire
Mom, come on! I yell while I m already rushing to the car. Soon enough, she comes out the garage
and sits in front of me in the driver s seat. I listen excitedly as her keys jingle and feel so much relief
as the air vents come on, putting me out of my misery in the the dry, 95 degree heat. The radio plays in
the background while I look out the window at the scenery I see everyday on my way to school. We re
there within minutes and I jump out of the car and run to all the other girls. The heat hits me like a
truck and there s not a cloud in sight. The huge playground is behind us, next to the Groveport
Elementary building. We re facing the baseball diamond, surrounded by a fence and a little red
building is a bit to the left. Five, six, seven, eight, Coach M yells. Clap! One. Two. ... Show more

Today is September 17, 2016, almost a year since my accident and I ve come a long way since then.
My ankles healed and I m back to cheerleading with no complications, I ve even been going to
tumbling and working on my back handspring, which brings us here. At tumbling, a back handspring
is easy because the floor is springy but the track at a football game is a whole different story and I
have to do it today. My heart is racing as we walk over to the other side of the track to do our hello
cheer to the other team. I think back to the few times I warmed it up with my coach and try to keep in
mind doing it just like that. We re getting closer. I can t do this, guys. Oh my God! I groan. I m gonna
dieee. At this point I m almost panicking and we re getting even closer. I hear multiple
encouragements from my team but they don t do much to calm my nerves. My palms are getting
sweaty and my brain is going crazy with thoughts of how badly this could end. We finally get to the
other team and we greet them with the usual Hey ladies! I scan the faces of the other girls with their
smiles probably just as fake as

Bilingual Infants

K., Fennell, C.T. and Werker, J.F (2013) conducted an experimental research study with infants,
ranged from 12 months old and 14 month olds, to test how monolingual infants compare to bilingual
infants when they are advancing their associative word learning on an exact same time table. Because
bilingual infants are exposed to two groups of audible sounds and written vocabulary, some theorists
argue that this causes a constraint on how quickly bilingual infants ... Show more content on

Both the auditory and visual elements were united to generate 20 second trials. The infants in the
room were held in their parents laps. The parents were given headphones so they wouldn t distract or
contribute to the infants responses. The researchers needed words that could be easily expressed as
sounds rather than an actual word because of the early ages of the infants. The auditory elements were
expressed in 3 verbal, gibberish words which were lif , neem , pok , which were also all recorded by a
primary speaking English female speaker. Each audio element, or word , was recorded in 7 different
ways. The visual elements were copied from past experiments which consisted of three multicolored
objects shifting across a black backdrop to attract the infants to the images and sounds presented. In
these trials the audio and visual elements were not played cohesively, as the visual elements were
displayed in a pattern, while the audio elements were heard 2 seconds apart from the other audio

Essay on Two Methods of Defending the Trinity
Two Methods of Defending the Trinity
Christians believe in one God, yet the apparent contradictory nature of the Trinity is such that it has
caused many to doubt whether Christianity is indeed monotheistic. This has consequently caused
Christians to defend their monotheism in relation to the Trinity. In the two such defenses that are
studied in this essay, we find that Christians have explained the nature of Trinity with varying degrees
of effectiveness and success. Timothy the Patriarch defends the Trinity before the Caliph Madhi with
few compelling arguments, and Gregory of Nyssa explains it in a more abstract and therefore more
effective way. Each however defends the Trinity according to his understanding of it. ... Show more

Timothy offers several apt analogies comparing the Trinity to earthly things, yet he fails to offer a
compelling argument to refute the Caliph s simple yet powerful statement: If He is one, He is not
three; and if He is three he is not one; what is this contradiction? (69).
The most obvious of Timothy s logical errors is that he assumes (naturally) that the Son of the Trinity
is in fact the Christ or Messiah of the Hebrew Scripture. He therefore refers to Hebrew Scripture to
show that the Son is equal and not subservient to the Father: God, therefore, called Christ a Lord
through the prophet David, and since no true lord is a servant, it follows that Christ is not a servant
(82). The flaw in this logic, or at least the reason for its failure to convince the Caliph, lies in the fact
that the Caliph cannot believe that Jesus is the Christ. The logic is also flawed from a modern point of
view, for there the writers of the Hebrew Scripture knew neither Jesus nor the concept of the Trinity. It
would therefore be anachronistic to use such references or to claim for example that the We of the
creation story in Genesis refers to the Christian Trinity.
Timothy makes similar mistakes in reference to the Koran and the Gospels. He says, It is also possible
that the three letters placed before some Surahs in the Kur an...refer also in your Book to God, His

The Causes Of The Drought In California
The Drought in California has lasted about five years. California is an American state known for it
agricultural industry and large cities. It is on the West Coast near the Ocean as well. It is supposed to
get both rain and snowfall throughout the year, but the drought has prevented as sufficient amount
from occurring.
The drought was caused by overuse and over extraction from water tables and freshwater sources for
the commercial agricultural industry. The biggest cause, however, was a high pressure system near the
coast diverting storms away from California because it cannot rain California is in a drought.
Due to this drought, many crops have dies leading to poverty for many farmers. People are lacking
clean drinking water forcing the state to bring it in from other states. Water tables are collapsing as
well.
To mitigate loss of life close monitoring of dry woods needs to occur that way if a forest fire starts it
can be put out easier, or the surrounding areas can evacuate more effectively.
People are also shifting away from grass lawns to save water from being wasted on something purely
for intrinsic value. They are also using less water for washing dishes and showering to prevent the
need for any more water extraction.
California is also importing more produce instead of growing it on their own to prevent
malnourishment and supplement the lack of produce being grown in state.
8. Hurricane/serious storm case study: discuss a serious hurricane or tropical storm. Where did it hit
and what impact did it have? How did/could weather monitoring mitigate loss?
Hurricane Katrina hit The United States and Canada. In the United States, it did the most damage in
New Orleans, Louisiana. It also hit parts of Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Mississippi and
Alabama.
It came onto land as a Category three hurricane with powerful windspeeds reaching more than 125
miles per hour.
New Orleans is a large city hit by Katrina with most the land being lower to sea level making It prone
to flooding. It is also has the Mississippi river flowing through it. There are many poverty stricken
neighborhoods usually in areas with more flooding.

The Pros And Cons Of Fiction
There is nothing better than reading an interesting book, staying up all night and reading a good,
fictional story until you fall asleep, and waking up early just to see how it end. A person s reason for
enjoying fiction can differ but it is almost for the fact that fiction can make the reader feel as if they
have been transported to another world. People read fiction for the curiosity and authors can
state/make points mixed with their own creativity. In class, we discuss authors and their messages
hidden through their story s plot. The author s plot is often just a background for what the writer is
really trying to get out to his audience.
In order to escape from the drama or reality of life and enter a more interesting one, people read
fiction to escape our world and enter someone else s. ...other times she needs to literally escape her
own thoughts. So she turns to books (Monica M Clarks). Taking a break from work and school and
taking time to just bury all your thoughts into a book is something that readers of all audiences would
agree sounds rather enjoyable. Fiction is like a finding all these alternate realities and each reality
bringing you into living through someone else s life.
Readers read fiction to understand people they haven t met and places they ve never visited. If a reader
were to compare a book and its movie , they would always agree that in the book, you know what the
protagonist is thinking and you know more about the character and have time

Factors of Success
Introduction and objectives The overall objective of this individual assignment is targeted in two
separate, yet strongly interrelated sections. Our first task is concerned with one inspiring
entrepreneurial story and its reasons for success. Furthermore, other factors for success will be
discussed, in the light of relevant literature. Additionally, I will identify the personal takeaways I can
take from it. To support this, I also intend to explain the logic used to identify these takeaways. Other
interesting details of this entrepreneurial story, but not relevant for the main critical analysis, will be
placed in the appendix. Following this, using two different personal entrepreneurial assessment tests, I

In the previous page, some ideas were depicted, in order to frame Cordys and Jan Baan s reasons for
success into a common framework. This shows the connection between an awareness of new
emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this
framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons
for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal
trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready
to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire
for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys
nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers
(Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry
required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small
firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks
developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true
for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother, and simultaneously built up a close network in
his home country, the Netherlands. Hence, from the last paragraph, as a

What Are The Differences Between Erikson And Freud
Erikson and Freud are two names that one cannot miss while talking about psychology. Sigmund
Freud is called the father of psychology. In terms of theories, Freud is known for his psychosexual
theory, and Erikson is known for his psychosocial theory.
Though both believed that personality develops in a series of predetermined stages, both of them have
different explanations.
While Freud based his theory on sex, Erikson did not give much importance to the sexual drive of an
individual. On the other hand, Erikson focused on identity.
Freud believed that an individual s identity developed during adolescence. Erikson believed, however,
that an individual s identity developed and evolved throughout a person s life. Unlike Freud s thoughts
that maturation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Erikson s psychosocial theory also talked about different stages like: Trust vs. Mistrust, Autonomy vs.
Doubt, Initiative vs. Guilt, Industry vs. Inferiority, Identity vs. Role Confusion, Intimacy vs. Isolation,
Generativity vs. Stagnation, and Integrity vs. Despair.
According to the Oral stage, (from birth to one year), a child s primary source of pleasure is through
the mouth by sucking, tasting, and eating. Erickson says that it is a period (Trust vs. Mistrust) when
children try to learn to trust and mistrust their caregivers. In the Anal stage (1 to 3 years), a child gains
a sense of mastery by controlling bowel and bladder movements. However, Erikson says it is a period
(Autonomy vs. Doubt) when children develop self sufficiency by controlling activities such as eating,
toilet training, and talking.
In the next stage of Freud s Phallic stage (3 6 years), the libido s energy focuses on the genitals, and
they begin to identify with their same sex parent. To Erikson, however, it is a period of Initiative vs.
Guilt where a child begins to take more control over their

Firewalls are set up on computers to help protect computers and other devices from attacks from
potentially harmful websites and other resources. Proxies are servers that act as a middle man for
computers. They allow users to make indirect connections to other servers. The LAN to WAN domain
is where the infrastructure connects to the Internet. Updates, firewalls and proxies will help to keep
things running and help to keep it protected. The fifth domain is the WAN domain. In this domain, the
network security application that is apart of it is the intrusion detection system/intrusion prevention
system (IDS/IPS). This device monitors the system for malicious activities and reports it back (Kim
Solomon, 2012). The WAN Domain connects to remote locations and using the IDS/IPS is crucial
because it will help to remote if any outside activity is trying to access the system that should not be.
The sixth domain is the Remote Access Domain. In this domain, the network security applications that
is apart of it is Proxies. Similar to LAN to WAN domain, proxies help to allow users to connect to
server through another server. Remote access allows users to connect to the server remotely and
Proxies give a user the opportunity to use a proxy server to do this. The seventh domain is the

Being a sorcerous shape shifter, I m able to float to shore as a harmless piece of seaweed. Seaweed is
something no one will think twice about. As I float to shore, I will wait till the female walks past my
seaweed form. I rose up to transform into a humanoid form. At seven feet tall, I am gauntly built but
strong and swift. I have a dark countenance on my stern face. Without the human aware I m behind

Justice in movie Crash Essay examples
Justice in movie Crash
In the movie Crash, directed by Paul Haggis, John Stuart Mill s theories on Social Justice and Utility
are depicted within the context of the 20th century. Haggis representation of a multicultural society is
one built on racism and inequality, which limits the social justice people can acquire. In this film
prejudice and stereotyping are prevalent when discussing legal rights and moral rights. The social
situation has profound impacts on the choices people make. This society s foundation is based on
injustice, although in the end, justice is served through the concept of `justice of desert .

In modern society it is a fundamental right not to be discriminated against based on race, ethnicity and
gender. This situation deprived the storeowner of his personal liberty subjecting him to social
injustice. The storeowner has not forfeited his legal rights by giving them up freely; he has been
unjustly deprived of them.
Further, the storeowner has been robbed of his moral rights also. A moral right is something that goes
beyond the law. If the law does not encompass someone s legal interests, it is considered a moral right.
Any owner of a store has the ability to withhold a transaction based on their personal discretion.
However, the transaction is only withheld because of his race this is an obvious intrusion of his moral
rights.
Another example of someone s legal and moral rights being withheld deliberately based on race is
Daniel s (Michael Pena) daily life. Daniel, who comes from an ethnic background, works overtime as
a locksmith so his daughter and wife can live in a neighbourhood without guns and the sounds of
bullets. Consistently throughout the movie we see his legal rights and moral rights considered invalid
because of his race.
In Daniel s first appearance, he is fixing someone s lock. He quietly works away, while the wife of the
house criticizes him. Yelling to her husband, that he is a gang member and that he is going to go and

Terrorism within or against the United States is not a new phenomenon. Our history is well
documented with thousands of attempts and actual acts of terrorism that happened on U.S. soil. The
first act of terrorism can be traced back to 1865 with the assassination of President Lincoln, but the
first and boldest foreign terrorist attack occurred in New York City on February 26, 1993. Over 1,000
people were injured and six were killed when a group of Islamic terrorists detonated a rental truck
equipped with explosives underneath the World Trade Center. The Federal Bureau of Investigation

Hezbollah began its existence with leaders, such as al Musawi, al Khalil, and Mughniyah, who had
proven their competence in the crucible of Lebanon s Civil War. With these leaders, they recruited
fighters with an extensive military training background, which proved to be an asset against the Israeli
army. There is said to be tens of thousands of Hezbollah members within their ranks and could
increase up to a hundred thousand or more. Abbas al Musawi was the senior leader of Hezbollah
before the Israeli s killed him in 1992. Hassan Nasarallah became the next senior leader of Hezbollah,
also known as the Secretary General; essentially he makes all the decisions for any political or
paramilitary activities. Nasrallah was a student of al Musawi in a religious seminary school in Iraq,
and he regarded al Musawi as his mentor. He was a strong supporter of the Israel resistance and while
in school, he organized a group of Shiite s to assist in the invasion of Israel. Even though Nasrallah
has faced criticism from his own people, he has won broad grassroots support by cultivating a social
welfare network that provided schools, clinics, and housing in the predominantly Shiite parts of
Lebanon. He has proven to be a very intelligent, religious, and charismatic figure across the Arab
nations, and has gained much support and popularity for Hezbollah s terrorist activities. Underneath
Secretary General Nasrallah is second in command, Naim Qassem, the top political advisor to
Nasrallah, Hussein al Khalil, and now deceased spiritual leader or chief Mujtahid, Sheikh Muhammed

the investigators were not blinded to duration of treatment. Topical timolol was shown to be an

What Does Cost of Capital Mean?

Cost of capital is what it will cost the firm, on the margin, today, to secure its financial resources for
further growth.
Cost of capital must reflect current capital market conditions (current required returns) Cost of capital

American Politics Vs. The Netflix Series House Of Cards
Provisional Title
A Case Study on American politics portrayed in House of Cards and its correlation to the current
political climate
1 Introduction
The American Netflix series House of Cards is a political drama that follows Frank Underwood
(Kevin Spacey) rising through the ranks from Democratic Majority Whip in the House of
Representatives to Vice President and later President of the United States by achieving his political
power through manipulation and ruthless pragmatism with the aid of his wife Claire Underwood
(Robin Wright).
Along with its fictional and hyperbolic representation of Washington DC and its controversial political
visions, House of Cards takes on various current real life debates of American politics in a satirical
and often cynical way.
1.1 The research problem
This case study will examine American politics portrayed in the Netflix series House of Cards to find
out how the depicted political themes and the use of satire relate to the current political environment in
the United States in order to find similarities to real world politics and determine what is fact and what
is fiction in the series.
The cross sectional research that will be undertaken will employ the use of a qualitative research
design. The first phase of data collection will examine the use of political satire and analyse the
various political themes portrayed in the series House of Cards. Semi structured expert interviews will
focus in the second phase on relating the themes and

THE BANKRUPTCY OF LEHMAN BROTHERS Abstract This paper looks at the failure of
Lehman Brothers as the biggest bankruptcy case in the US history and the events that followed. The
first part of the paper reviews factors that led to the failure and consequently the bankruptcy event.
Some of the causes leading to the crisis, namely the market for Credit Default Swaps (CDOs),
misrepresentation of financial statement, complex structure of the company, low standards, and
unethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will also be discussed throughout the paper.
THE BANKRUPTCY OF LEHMAN BROTHERS Causes of the Failure There is no single cause
that led to the failure of Lehman Brothers. There were numerous causes and agents that led to the
disaster, including greedy Wall Street traders, the debt load of American households, the Fed s action,
rating agencies, and last but not least, the
4
deregulation (Morin and Maux, 2011). These factors were responsible for the crisis of credit and not
solely the failure of Lehman Brothers. Still, the market of Credit Default Swaps was one of the biggest
factors dedicating to the catastrophe, if not the biggest one as Lehman was heavily involved in that
market. In explaining the sub prime market, Morin and Maux (2011) explain that sub prime loans refer
to inferior quality (sub) real estate loans whose higher risk of payment default is countered by the
bank with a higher interest rate. These mortgage loans, granted at variable
rates, were extended to American households with modest incomes (p. 41). Morin and Maux (2011)
also discuss Lehman s involvement in that particular market as well as how Lehman caused erosion in
that market at the same time: The bank is accused of having sold Collateralized Debt Obligations
(CDOs) to its clients and taking short positions that effectively eroded the value of these

Green Cabs Case Study
MANT 303 Entrepreneurship Assignment One Green Cabs case study 1. Green Cabs has many
opportunities to grow their business into other locations and also diversify into other services (e.g.
courier services, shuttles, vans). They have resisted these opportunities to date. Should Green Cabs be
taking these growth opportunities? Why or why not? I believe the decision to expand areas of Green
Cabs opertaions is one that Callum Brown should offer more thought. Green Cabs currently possesses
strong market positions in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and a distinct image with their
bright green cabs. They have recently secured priority spaces at New Zealand s three main airports
and are increasing their exposure to consumers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Publically listing his company on the share market would be a great way to raise capital through share
purchase. Investors would be attracted to the positive results Green Cabs have already achieved and
would not hestitate to buy shares in the business. This would make expansion more feasible and allow
for and easier entrance into some of harder areas. As a sole proprietor, Callum Brown is solely in
charge of the direction of the firm. The case study does not stipulate whether or not he has any
external influences to aid his decision making. As Green Cabs begins to grow, it will make Callum s
workload much heavier, and he may struggle to make the best decisions for the firm. Raising capital
through selling shares would allow positive growth within the firm as Callum Brown can afford to
hire a management team in order to make more efficient and calculated business decisions. This could
have negative effects to the business. With a strong set of values set by Callum, Green Cabs has a very
positive image which attracts customers. Introducing new management introduces new ideas and
potentially differing values. Callum is open with the fact that he doesn t desire millions of dollars from
Green Cabs. However when you have investors wanting a premium return on their shares, Green Cabs
will be required to make as much profit as possible. This could have a potentially negative impact on
their attempts to be

The Amendment Is Not Protected Under The Freedom Of Speech...
The first amendment, of the Constitution, protects all citizens from Congress making laws that
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the
Government for a redress of grievances. Most U.S citizens how this amendment, or at least a summary
of it, memorized. Citizens have the right to speak their mind as they sit fit, practice any religion, and
protest. However, in modern times, it is understandable to see why this is not entirely true. Court
decisions have put many restrictions on the liberties presented in the 1st amendment. A citizen cannot
use religion as an excuse for sacrifices, or protest in violent fashions. The most controversial, and
complicated, restrictions are those prohibiting certain kinds of speech. One of the Supreme is that
obscenity is not protected under the freedom of speech. A problem quickly raise was: what, exactly, is
obscenity? Under Miller v California, to be obscene a publication must, taken as whole, appeal to
prurient interest, must contain patently offensive depictions or descriptions of specified sexual
conduct, and on the whole have no serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value. It made sense
to ban specific types of speech that was, at the root, meant to be hateful or obscene. However,
Indianapolis legislator, in American Booksellers Association v. Hudnut, used

Fly Away Peter Analysis
How do David Malouf in Fly away Peter and Gabriele Muccino in Seven Pounds use language and
stylistic features to present the idea of the journey to sacrifice? Fly away Peter follows the journey of
two young men Jim Saddler and Ashley Crowther who leave their peaceful life for the horror and
brutality of World War I. Whilst the film Seven pounds explores the story of Tim Thomas (Will Smith)
who is containing a fateful secret, he sets of a journey of redemption to change the lives of seven
individuals. Both stories contained a significant event that changed the lives of these men where the
techniques change before, during and after the major event therefore creating their journeys to their
ultimate sacrifice.
Before
In both the novella fly away peter and the film Seven pounds the characters encounter a traumatic
event that instigated major change in their lives. In Fly away Peter Malouf uses stylistic techniques to
portray the peaceful lifestyle Jim and Ashley lived before their experience with World War I.
Particularly the exploration of a man s physical struggle and the spiritual journey from innocence to
experience through this move to the War in Europe from Australia. Before their journey to the war
Malouf s writing style differs with how he talks about the surroundings and environment. He describes
the peacefulness and seclusion of the Australian land, using descriptions such as behind him, where all
this swampland drained into the Pacific, were dunes,

Theme Of Blindness In Oedipus The King
Greek literature has been known to utilize dramatic irony, which allows the character s motives clear
to the audience although unknown to the main character itself. Sophocles introduces the Greek tragedy
Oedipus the King using this literary technique moving on to develop the concept of blindness and
sight. In fact, this text deals with the idea of blindness and sight revealed by a character both literally
and figuratively. The play introduces the Greek city state called Thebes, which is suffering a great
plague causing the state to fall apart. A prophecy has been set to recover the plaque by which King
Oedipus must find the killer of Laius, his predecessor. Throughout the play, Sophocles displays an
overarching question of which characters are considered blind, one who remains blind and ignorant to
the truth or one who is depleted of sight embracing the certainty of the circumstances. Based on
Oedipus s motivations, character development, and interactions over the course of the play, Sophocles
develops the theme that when power and ignorance camouflage the truth, agony and despair will
follow as the truth unfolds.
In the starting of the play, Sophocles introduces Oedipus possessing great power and reputation
therefore leading him to be unaware of his truth. For example, when Oedipus interacts with Teiresias,
the blind prophet, Oedipus says,
Oh I ll let loose, I have such Fury in me now I see it all. You helped hatch the plot, you did the work,
yes, short of killing him

Foreign Direct Investment and Ireland’s Tiger Economy
Foreign Direct Investment and Ireland s Tiger Economy
1)
In the economic history of Ireland there have been many changes due to different governments and
different policies. The reasons behind the Ireland economic success are the good location of the
country, because it s like a bridge to the European union market for the American companies, low tax,
in fact there is a tax rate of 12,5 % that is the lowest in the European Union, a multilingual labor force,
that is very important for the multinational enterprise and the labor cost is cheaper than other nations

Moreover I think that this model is more appropriate to developing countries and not to developed
countries, because it is not convenient, developed countries have a big corporate sector that brings into

Similarities Between The Odyssey And The Penelopiad
History is told in the viewpoint of the victor. For thousands of years, a wrong in a textbook may not be
correct until one person speaks up. Hatred, rumors, and the true happenings of ancient event are often
concealed until more accounts of the event are heard. The Odyssey, for thousands of years only had
one major part of the story Odysseus telling of the tale. His wife, only had few things said about her in
Odysseus s epic telling of his journey. What she experienced at home was much different from what
Odysseus did on his journey. In the epic poem The Odyssey , and the book The Penelopiad , Penelope
was portrayed much differently. If Penelope s version of the story had never been told, she would be

Treblinka was the main extermination camp used during the hitler Nazi reign. The Extermination
camp was only around for one year but had more deaths than any other camp. Treblinka isn t one of
the well known camp but it is one of the camps most known for it s larger extermination areas.
Treblinka death camp is located in the North eastern region of the general government and it is also
located near the Polish village of Wolka Okraglik. Treblinka was a junction on the Warsaw Bialystok
railway line that was used to transform Jews from Warsaw to Treblinka. The germans established
Treblinka to be apart of the Akito Reinhard operation according to Holocaust Education Research
Team. The death camp was constructed to look like a 1,312 by 1,968 foot trapezoid which they began
construction on the begining of April 1942. Richard Thomalla was the supervisor of the construction
of Treblinka. Many of the workers were forced Jews and some were from the construction company
Schonbrunn from Leipzig. They also had them build a 26 foot tall watch tower Holocaust
Encyclopedia. The death camp was divided into three parts, a reception area, living area, and a killing

In Being Rejected: by a school does not make you a victim, Ruben Navarrette Jr. expresses his point
of view of Abigail Fisher and her tactics. Fisher filed for reverse discrimination for not being accepted
to University of Texas 2008. UT Austin has 52,000 students in 2016, 4.5 African American and 22
percent Latino. Fisher poor grade scores was the reason for her rejection of the university. The
Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Texas University 8 years later, 2016. Instead of accepting the
rejection decided to do the extreme, people cope in different ways. Navarrette believed that if the

English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton
English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without
wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that renews
itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and hardship,
distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which love sits upon. Love, like
steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its heat. Love is so
deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability, compassion, and comfort. In
love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion, to another. In a world of loneliness,
uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for. Moreover, love that one choses to not
fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be lust, passion, or endearment but never love
because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual, and permanent. It is true.
The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the
classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring houses.
The hero of this ode quite literally fights on the battlefield for his lover. The devotion of the man s
love can be seen by how eloquently he describes his feelings for her. He states, She takes your heart
with the flash edge of her

The Myth Of Winter Research Paper
The Warmth of Winter
Imagine walking outside to a cool winter breeze, the snowflakes melting on your face the second they
touch you, that feeling of bouncing in clouds every time you take a step in the snow, the bright red
nose that is almost shining as bright as Rudolph s, or the teary eyes you get the second you step
outside as if you had just seen your dog who you haven t seen since you were five. All of the seasons
have their qualities that make them unique. Winter, however, is unquestionably my favorite season of
them all.
Winter is one of the seasons that gives you a warm excited sensation inside almost like hearing you

The Negative Effects Of Ending Animal Cruelty
Ending Animal Cruelty In today s society makeup is becoming more and more popular. Makeup
brands are constantly coming out with new products made of different ingredients that they think will
pull people in. Where do these ingredients come from? How do they know they re safe for people?
Makeup brands are using innocent animals to make sure that these products aren t going to be harmful
to people. But of course they don t know if they are harmful before they test them on animals. Many
high end makeup brands test on animals without anyone even knowing. Lush cosmetics does not test
on animals, this ad is part of the campaign they have to get people involved in trying to end or replace
animal testing. In my first ad Lush uses a cute little bunny to get to appeal to the viewers pathos.
Seeing a small animal with makeup that is harmful to it isn t going to make people want to buy a
brand s products. That is the message Lush is trying to get across by this ad. If the makeup is harmful
to animals it would be harmful to you. Not to mention these animals don t deserve this at all. The
people testing these products on these animals don t know the effect it will have on them, hence the
reason why it is a test. The pathos in this ad is going to make you think twice about buying makeup
brands that test on animals. The second ad is a commercial starring Angie Hill. In the commercial Hill
is using makeup on her face, perfume on her neck and also showing the effects of it. As she is

  • 2. Cheerleading Satire Mom, come on! I yell while I m already rushing to the car. Soon enough, she comes out the garage and sits in front of me in the driver s seat. I listen excitedly as her keys jingle and feel so much relief as the air vents come on, putting me out of my misery in the the dry, 95 degree heat. The radio plays in the background while I look out the window at the scenery I see everyday on my way to school. We re there within minutes and I jump out of the car and run to all the other girls. The heat hits me like a truck and there s not a cloud in sight. The huge playground is behind us, next to the Groveport Elementary building. We re facing the baseball diamond, surrounded by a fence and a little red building is a bit to the left. Five, six, seven, eight, Coach M yells. Clap! One. Two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Five, six, seven, eight... ◑ Today is September 17, 2016, almost a year since my accident and I ve come a long way since then. My ankles healed and I m back to cheerleading with no complications, I ve even been going to tumbling and working on my back handspring, which brings us here. At tumbling, a back handspring is easy because the floor is springy but the track at a football game is a whole different story and I have to do it today. My heart is racing as we walk over to the other side of the track to do our hello cheer to the other team. I think back to the few times I warmed it up with my coach and try to keep in mind doing it just like that. We re getting closer. I can t do this, guys. Oh my God! I groan. I m gonna dieee. At this point I m almost panicking and we re getting even closer. I hear multiple encouragements from my team but they don t do much to calm my nerves. My palms are getting sweaty and my brain is going crazy with thoughts of how badly this could end. We finally get to the other team and we greet them with the usual Hey ladies! Purpose and Hypotheses of Study Sample Byers Heinlein, K., Fennell, C.T. and Werker, J.F (2013) conducted an experimental research study with infants, ranged from 12 months old and 14 month olds, to test how monolingual infants compare to bilingual infants when they are advancing their associative word learning on an exact same time table. Because bilingual infants are exposed to two groups of audible sounds and written vocabulary, some theorists argue that this causes a constraint on how quickly bilingual infants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the auditory and visual elements were united to generate 20 second trials. The infants in the room were held in their parents laps. The parents were given headphones so they wouldn t distract or contribute to the infants responses. The researchers needed words that could be easily expressed as sounds rather than an actual word because of the early ages of the infants. The auditory elements were expressed in 3 verbal, gibberish words which were lif , neem , pok , which were also all recorded by a primary speaking English female speaker. Each audio element, or word , was recorded in 7 different ways. The visual elements were copied from past experiments which consisted of three multicolored objects shifting across a black backdrop to attract the infants to the images and sounds presented. In these trials the audio and visual elements were not played cohesively, as the visual elements were displayed in a pattern, while the audio elements were heard 2 seconds apart from the other audio ... • 4. Essay on Two Methods of Defending the Trinity Two Methods of Defending the Trinity Christians believe in one God, yet the apparent contradictory nature of the Trinity is such that it has caused many to doubt whether Christianity is indeed monotheistic. This has consequently caused Christians to defend their monotheism in relation to the Trinity. In the two such defenses that are studied in this essay, we find that Christians have explained the nature of Trinity with varying degrees of effectiveness and success. Timothy the Patriarch defends the Trinity before the Caliph Madhi with few compelling arguments, and Gregory of Nyssa explains it in a more abstract and therefore more effective way. Each however defends the Trinity according to his understanding of it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Timothy offers several apt analogies comparing the Trinity to earthly things, yet he fails to offer a compelling argument to refute the Caliph s simple yet powerful statement: If He is one, He is not three; and if He is three he is not one; what is this contradiction? (69). The most obvious of Timothy s logical errors is that he assumes (naturally) that the Son of the Trinity is in fact the Christ or Messiah of the Hebrew Scripture. He therefore refers to Hebrew Scripture to show that the Son is equal and not subservient to the Father: God, therefore, called Christ a Lord through the prophet David, and since no true lord is a servant, it follows that Christ is not a servant (82). The flaw in this logic, or at least the reason for its failure to convince the Caliph, lies in the fact that the Caliph cannot believe that Jesus is the Christ. The logic is also flawed from a modern point of view, for there the writers of the Hebrew Scripture knew neither Jesus nor the concept of the Trinity. It would therefore be anachronistic to use such references or to claim for example that the We of the creation story in Genesis refers to the Christian Trinity. Timothy makes similar mistakes in reference to the Koran and the Gospels. He says, It is also possible that the three letters placed before some Surahs in the Kur an...refer also in your Book to God, His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Causes Of The Drought In California The Drought in California has lasted about five years. California is an American state known for it agricultural industry and large cities. It is on the West Coast near the Ocean as well. It is supposed to get both rain and snowfall throughout the year, but the drought has prevented as sufficient amount from occurring. The drought was caused by overuse and over extraction from water tables and freshwater sources for the commercial agricultural industry. The biggest cause, however, was a high pressure system near the coast diverting storms away from California because it cannot rain California is in a drought. Due to this drought, many crops have dies leading to poverty for many farmers. People are lacking clean drinking water forcing the state to bring it in from other states. Water tables are collapsing as well. To mitigate loss of life close monitoring of dry woods needs to occur that way if a forest fire starts it can be put out easier, or the surrounding areas can evacuate more effectively. People are also shifting away from grass lawns to save water from being wasted on something purely for intrinsic value. They are also using less water for washing dishes and showering to prevent the need for any more water extraction. California is also importing more produce instead of growing it on their own to prevent malnourishment and supplement the lack of produce being grown in state. 8. Hurricane/serious storm case study: discuss a serious hurricane or tropical storm. Where did it hit and what impact did it have? How did/could weather monitoring mitigate loss? Hurricane Katrina hit The United States and Canada. In the United States, it did the most damage in New Orleans, Louisiana. It also hit parts of Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Mississippi and Alabama. It came onto land as a Category three hurricane with powerful windspeeds reaching more than 125 miles per hour. • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Fiction There is nothing better than reading an interesting book, staying up all night and reading a good, fictional story until you fall asleep, and waking up early just to see how it end. A person s reason for enjoying fiction can differ but it is almost for the fact that fiction can make the reader feel as if they have been transported to another world. People read fiction for the curiosity and authors can state/make points mixed with their own creativity. In class, we discuss authors and their messages hidden through their story s plot. The author s plot is often just a background for what the writer is really trying to get out to his audience. In order to escape from the drama or reality of life and enter a more interesting one, people read fiction to escape our world and enter someone else s. ...other times she needs to literally escape her own thoughts. So she turns to books (Monica M Clarks). Taking a break from work and school and taking time to just bury all your thoughts into a book is something that readers of all audiences would agree sounds rather enjoyable. Fiction is like a finding all these alternate realities and each reality bringing you into living through someone else s life. Readers read fiction to understand people they haven t met and places they ve never visited. If a reader were to compare a book and its movie , they would always agree that in the book, you know what the protagonist is thinking and you know more about the character and have time ... Our first task is concerned with one inspiring entrepreneurial story and its reasons for success. Furthermore, other factors for success will be discussed, in the light of relevant literature. Additionally, I will identify the personal takeaways I can take from it. To support this, I also intend to explain the logic used to identify these takeaways. Other interesting details of this entrepreneurial story, but not relevant for the main critical analysis, will be placed in the appendix. Following this, using two different personal entrepreneurial assessment tests, I will evaluate my own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the previous page, some ideas were depicted, in order to frame Cordys and Jan Baan s reasons for success into a common framework. This shows the connection between an awareness of new emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers (Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother, and simultaneously built up a close network in his home country, the Netherlands. Hence, from the last paragraph, as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. What Are The Differences Between Erikson And Freud Erikson and Freud are two names that one cannot miss while talking about psychology. Sigmund Freud is called the father of psychology. In terms of theories, Freud is known for his psychosexual theory, and Erikson is known for his psychosocial theory. Though both believed that personality develops in a series of predetermined stages, both of them have different explanations. While Freud based his theory on sex, Erikson did not give much importance to the sexual drive of an individual. On the other hand, Erikson focused on identity. Freud believed that an individual s identity developed during adolescence. Erikson believed, however, that an individual s identity developed and evolved throughout a person s life. Erikson s psychosocial theory also talked about different stages like: Trust vs. Mistrust, Autonomy vs. Doubt, Initiative vs. Guilt, Industry vs. Inferiority, Identity vs. Role Confusion, Intimacy vs. Isolation, Generativity vs. Stagnation, and Integrity vs. Despair. According to the Oral stage, (from birth to one year), a child s primary source of pleasure is through the mouth by sucking, tasting, and eating. Erickson says that it is a period (Trust vs. Mistrust) when children try to learn to trust and mistrust their caregivers. In the Anal stage (1 to 3 years), a child gains a sense of mastery by controlling bowel and bladder movements. However, Erikson says it is a period (Autonomy vs. Doubt) when children develop self sufficiency by controlling activities such as eating, toilet training, and talking. In the next stage of Freud s Phallic stage (3 6 years), the libido s energy focuses on the genitals, and they begin to identify with their same sex parent. Haggis representation of a multicultural society is one built on racism and inequality, which limits the social justice people can acquire. In this film prejudice and stereotyping are prevalent when discussing legal rights and moral rights. The social situation has profound impacts on the choices people make. In modern society it is a fundamental right not to be discriminated against based on race, ethnicity and gender. This situation deprived the storeowner of his personal liberty subjecting him to social injustice. The storeowner has not forfeited his legal rights by giving them up freely; he has been unjustly deprived of them. Further, the storeowner has been robbed of his moral rights also. A moral right is something that goes beyond the law. If the law does not encompass someone s legal interests, it is considered a moral right. Any owner of a store has the ability to withhold a transaction based on their personal discretion. However, the transaction is only withheld because of his race this is an obvious intrusion of his moral rights. Another example of someone s legal and moral rights being withheld deliberately based on race is Daniel s (Michael Pena) daily life. Daniel, who comes from an ethnic background, works overtime as a locksmith so his daughter and wife can live in a neighbourhood without guns and the sounds of bullets. Consistently throughout the movie we see his legal rights and moral rights considered invalid because of his race. In Daniel s first appearance, he is fixing someone s lock. The first act of terrorism can be traced back to 1865 with the assassination of President Lincoln, but the first and boldest foreign terrorist attack occurred in New York City on February 26, 1993. Over 1,000 people were injured and six were killed when a group of Islamic terrorists detonated a rental truck equipped with explosives underneath the World Trade Center. Hezbollah began its existence with leaders, such as al Musawi, al Khalil, and Mughniyah, who had proven their competence in the crucible of Lebanon s Civil War. With these leaders, they recruited fighters with an extensive military training background, which proved to be an asset against the Israeli army. There is said to be tens of thousands of Hezbollah members within their ranks and could increase up to a hundred thousand or more. Abbas al Musawi was the senior leader of Hezbollah before the Israeli s killed him in 1992. Hassan Nasarallah became the next senior leader of Hezbollah, also known as the Secretary General; essentially he makes all the decisions for any political or paramilitary activities. Nasrallah was a student of al Musawi in a religious seminary school in Iraq, and he regarded al Musawi as his mentor. He was a strong supporter of the Israel resistance and while in school, he organized a group of Shiite s to assist in the invasion of Israel. Even though Nasrallah has faced criticism from his own people, he has won broad grassroots support by cultivating a social welfare network that provided schools, clinics, and housing in the predominantly Shiite parts of Lebanon. He has proven to be a very intelligent, religious, and charismatic figure across the Arab nations, and has gained much support and popularity for Hezbollah s terrorist activities. Underneath Secretary General Nasrallah is second in command, Naim Qassem, the top political advisor to Nasrallah, Hussein al Khalil, and now deceased spiritual leader or chief Mujtahid, Sheikh Muhammed Hussein Fadlallah. THE BANKRUPTCY OF LEHMAN BROTHERS Causes of the Failure There is no single cause that led to the failure of Lehman Brothers. There were numerous causes and agents that led to the disaster, including greedy Wall Street traders, the debt load of American households, the Fed s action, rating agencies, and last but not least, the 4 deregulation (Morin and Maux, 2011). These factors were responsible for the crisis of credit and not solely the failure of Lehman Brothers. Still, the market of Credit Default Swaps was one of the biggest factors dedicating to the catastrophe, if not the biggest one as Lehman was heavily involved in that market. In explaining the sub prime market, Morin and Maux (2011) explain that sub prime loans refer to inferior quality (sub) real estate loans whose higher risk of payment default is countered by the bank with a higher interest rate. These mortgage loans, granted at variable rates, were extended to American households with modest incomes (p. 41). Theme Of Blindness In Oedipus The King Greek literature has been known to utilize dramatic irony, which allows the character s motives clear to the audience although unknown to the main character itself. Sophocles introduces the Greek tragedy Oedipus the King using this literary technique moving on to develop the concept of blindness and sight. In fact, this text deals with the idea of blindness and sight revealed by a character both literally and figuratively. The play introduces the Greek city state called Thebes, which is suffering a great plague causing the state to fall apart. A prophecy has been set to recover the plaque by which King Oedipus must find the killer of Laius, his predecessor. Throughout the play, Sophocles displays an overarching question of which characters are considered blind, one who remains blind and ignorant to the truth or one who is depleted of sight embracing the certainty of the circumstances. Based on Oedipus s motivations, character development, and interactions over the course of the play, Sophocles develops the theme that when power and ignorance camouflage the truth, agony and despair will follow as the truth unfolds. In the starting of the play, Sophocles introduces Oedipus possessing great power and reputation therefore leading him to be unaware of his truth. • 31. English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that renews itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and hardship, distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which love sits upon. Love, like steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its heat. Love is so deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability, compassion, and comfort. In love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion, to another. In a world of loneliness, uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for. Moreover, love that one choses to not fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be lust, passion, or endearment but never love because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual, and permanent. It is true. The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring houses. The hero of this ode quite literally fights on the battlefield for his lover. The devotion of the man s love can be seen by how eloquently he describes his feelings for her.
