Subliminal Context of Horror within Frankenstein by Mary...
Frankenstein deals with much. It has the obvious nightmarish terrors represented in the monster,
terrifying in both sight and murderous actions. There however exists a subliminal context of horror
within the narrative. The characters within the narrative reveal the moral shortcomings of humanity,
and when stripped to its base constructs, amount to little more than what the monster becomes. It
shows the psychological frailty of man, and when unhinged the dangers it is capable of. The civilized
mind can refer to both the individual and society, or humanity as a whole. It is also interesting and
worth to note the interaction and juxtaposition of the two entities interacting with each other; the
terrors within the individual under the cloak of a civilized mind intermingling with society and the
demons in hides away in the shadows. Fear is oftentimes the culprit of a mind s downfall. It
transforms average anxieties and typical __ into nightmarish terrors which run rampant in Gothic
Writing. It is why Gothic writing had, and stil has a foothold in the realm of literature, the texts within
the genre speak to the fears that incessantly itch the brain. One of these fears would be loneliness
(reword). Unwelcome solitude has the ability to drive a sane man to insanity and a mad man to
decrepitude. It is what first borne the ill will within the monster, for I was benevolent; my soul glowed
with love and humanity: but am I not alone, miserably alone? (100). Knowledge is the

The Thus Spoke Zarathustra By The Nineteenth Century
In the Thus Spoke Zarathustra , written by the 19th century philosopher Nietzsche, we are presented
with many sermons that are structure similar to parables from the Lutheran Bible. These sermons are
given to us by the main character, Zarathustra, on our quest to find the overman (ubermench).
Zarathustra uses many characters to present stories about the flaws of humanity and how we are to get
better. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra , Zarathustra uses the character of an ass (donkey) that was first
presented to us through the sermon of Talking to the kings and plays a major role in the later novel.
The Ass is used as an idol that many of Zarathustra s guests praise as a God. The utilization of the Ass
as an idol of worship is Nietzsche s criticism on how Christians worship their God. In the sermon of
Talking to two kings , Zarathustra hears two men approaching where he was dwelling. He called out to
them and realized that they were two kings searching for the overman. Zarathustra introduces the Ass
by yelling out to the kings saying, Strange! Strange! How does this fit together? Two kings I see and
only one ass! (356 p2). The kings reply to Zarathustra and when he is presents himself to them, the
kings are it total dismay. They explain that they are looking for the overman for he is the one higher
than the lords. Zarathustra is pleased by their desire to find the overman. The kings then told
Zarathustra that they plan to convey the Ass to the overman. During the time

Summary Of To A Mouse And To A Mouse
In 1786, Robert Burns published his first line of poetry Poems: Chiefly in Scottish Dialect which
made him well known with the poems of To a Mouse , and To a Louse . His techniques included
writing six lines for each stanza. The rhyme scheme to these lines consist of AAABA giving the first,
second, third, and fifth lines four pairs of stressed and unstressed syllables. What I mean by if you
stress the first syllable, the subject will be totally different than an unstressed subject. In his poetry, the
fourth and sixth lines are different from the other lines. These two lines consist of two pairs of stressed
and unstressed syllables which is similar to a limerick or a ballad. This essay will be a compare and
contrast of his two poems To a Mouse, and To a Louse and a breakdown of these stanzas. In Burns s
poem of To a Mouse , his first stanza is talking about the destruction of a mouse s nest as the character
is doing his winter plowing. As he addresses the mouse he is reassuring the mouse there is no harm
intended. It moves onto him, saying nature has been destroyed by man s rule and how man s dominion
is the reason the mouse is afraid of man. The plowman s humanity is described as poor, and the mouse
s earth born companion. Daimen means rare or occasional, an icker is one ear of corn, and a thrave is a
measure of cut grain. He says it s not a big deal if the mouse takes an ear of corn every once in awhile
and it s not a huge request and it won t be missed when

How Can Relationships Benefit From Enhanced Trust
Which of my important relationships would benefit from enhanced trust?
The relationship I have with my family, specifically my dad would be better with enhanced trust. For
about six years my dad did not live with the rest of the family in Canada, instead he lived in Nigeria.
My parents were not divorced, but he wanted to live in Nigeria while we wanted to live in Canada. We
would visit him on and off like during the summer and he would come here to Canada and stay for a
couple of weeks. In 2012, he decided to stay here and live with us. But for the past three years, many
things have changed around the house. Our routine is completely different and it s hard to keep track.
It s not like I don t trust my father it s just that he has not been there for me all the time, so it s hard for
me to just easily trust him. I m so used to relying on my mother for many things and I still do till this
day. This is an important relationship to me and we need to enhance trust so that we can keep this
family going. My father is a good person, but I still can t easily trust him all the time. Trusting my dad
will just benefit both of us, but our entire family. In general the relationships with my family. He is an
example of a relationship that would benefit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I want to properly enhance trust in this relationship because I care deeply about my family. He s a part
of my family and I love him and building this trust could be so beneficial for my parents, my brother,
and myself. More trust is equivalent to more connection. A connected branch on a tree helps make a
part of the whole tree. A connected relationship in a family helps keep the family in a whole family
and togetherness. My family is one of the most important things in my life so building that foundation
of trust is so important.
Why are there risks involved if I commit to building trust in those

Managing Multi Generation Workforce
MANAGING MULTI GENERATION WORKFORCE A NEW CHALLENGE IN I.T. INDUSTRY
By:
Nidhi Chandorkar

ABSTRACT:
Today is the time which can be marked when we can see four generation rubbing their shoulders more
or less happily under the same roof of an organisation. Though these generations show drastic
variations in terms of their values, commitments, motivational factors, dissatisfiers, work
environment, approach towards job etc., yet every generation has got some exceptional benefits for the
organisation. Organisation cannot afford to value any of them less than the others. Talking about IT
industry, we can hardly see anyone from the oldest generation who are called as the Traditionalists. As
the IT sector has reached its forties you can find atleast three generations Baby Boomers, Generation
X and Generation Y joining hands for the success of the organisation.
Easier said than done, managing these three generation has given a tough time to the top managers.
The industries have seen their employees below 25 years of age growing into more matured workforce
and their changed focus have forced the Human Resource Managers to change their basic policies,
which were initially made for care free employees recruited freshly from the campus. This situation
has not only posed a challenge in terms of managing the differences but also making them work under
same policy framework. This research work helps in

OUTCOME 3
Give examples of being able to maintain legal and good practice requirements when assessing
occupational competence.
C. In carrying out assessment of occupational competence, I would ask myself:
How effective was my assessment and feedback?
Was there anything I didn t anticipate?
How did I deal with it?
What went well?
What could I improve?
If I had to change anything what would I do differently?
I would ask the learner what they intend to do and how they are ... Show more content on

This would be a write up on underpinning questions when a range has not quite been met. This could
also be a write up on a hair style that was achieved, explaining how they went about getting the
achieved look.
Insufficient evidence If a learner hands back their assignment but has not met the criteria covered,
they would be told there was insufficient evidence to complete the assignment. They would be asked
to add the required evidence making the assignment achievable.
Recognising prior learning This would be when a learner has completed a unit in another qualification
within the set time of the national standards. I would check their certification for proof of this and get
the learner to take the test of under pinning knowledge so they would not have to do the same unit
again. I would be able to document this in the learners log book with a RPL form, the form would
need to be signed and dated from the achieved date on the certificate.
C. To plan the assessment of occupational competence to address learner needs and current
achievements.
In my assessment plan I would identify any specific need that the learner may have e.g. Dyslexia (I
would check with the relevant department within the training establishment to see what help could be
offered to the learner i.e. extra time given for assignments and written tests). I would then agree the
level and extent of their current knowledge

Scopes Monkey Trial Research Paper
The aftermath of the Great war and the Great Depression brought on a dramatic social change in
America in the 1920s. The social change was a revolution that brought on two fundamentally different
beings; modernists and fundamentalists. While fundamentalists valued the bible, and lived by it in its
entirety, modernists were more self conscious and favored creativity and common sense rather than
the bible. The divide had to come head when the controversial Scopes Monkey Trial began and new
theories were explored which were then applied in modernist art, literature, and the way of thinking.
The revolution in manners in morals is the direct outcome of new innovations studied in the twentieth
century. The Scopes Monkey Trial is a direct reflection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Albert Einstein, famed psychist, offered scientific research that startled fundamentalists and excited
modernists. The huge influence the reject God was largely responsible of famed psychist, Albert
Einstein. His contributions in science left individuals unsure about the past and curious about the
future. Einstein theorized that space, time, matter, and energy were not distinct (Shi and Tindall 799).
His research left many to embrace the idea that there were no absolute standards or fixed points of
reference in the world (Shi and Tindall 799) . What was once said that God created all was questioned
with Einstein s research. Another man s research in psychoanalysis questioned the morals and the way
that people carried out their lives in the 1920s. Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst from Europe, heavily
influenced Americans because of his teachings about sex and behavior. Freud believed that the mind
was essentially and mysteriously conflicted by often unconscious efforts to control or repress powerful
irrational impulses or sexual desires (Shi and Tindall 799). His work gave life a deeper meaning and
influenced sexual liberation. Writers expressed their art through dreams and imaginations. The new
revelations bought on by Einstein and Freud changed the way of life for both modernists and
fundamentalists. Modernists applied the news ideas by applying them into their life by expressing
themselves through art, rejecting the bible, and imagine about the unknown. Fundamentalists stuck to
traditional values and believed in God. The new revelations weren t enough for fundamentalists to

political and cultural forces (53). In this paper, we will examine the historical and contemporary

influence of General Zia al Haq on women s rights; this will be illustrated by examining Pakistani
government policies on women before, during, and after his rule. The historical and contemporary

Along with the Hudood laws came the Zina Ordinances, which are a part of the Islamic defined
reform system of the legal and social structures (62 ROUSE). These ordinances sought to modify laws
in order to conform the existing Islamic laws with the Law of Evidence and the Law of Blasphemy
(KHAN 1). They were related to adultery, fornication, rape, and prostitution, matters that mostly
involve women (JEFFREY BASU). Under the Zina Ordinances, a predetermined punishment is
assigned to offenders based on the reading of Sura, Chapter 24, and verse 2 of the Qur an (Khan 2).
The woman and the man Guilty of fornication Flog each of them With a hundred stripes Scholars who
study Sunnah established a legal interpretation based on this verse – the punishment of one hundred
stripes was only to be applied to unmarried persons. If you were married and found guilty of
fornication, the traditional punishment was death. Under the Zina Ordinances, this became the first
time in Pakistan s history that illicit sex became a crime against the state, punishable by death (Khan
2). If it cannot be proved that rape occurred, then the act of sex becomes a crime against the state. No
woman has been put to death under these laws but frequent whippings occurred (Khan 3). Also among
the Zina Ordinances is the requirement of a Muslim judge for trials, especially in the higher courts. A

NRA Stereotypes
There are misconceptions and stereotypes about every culture, race, group, nationality or club
imaginable. It can be challenging to decide if stereotypes are true to the whole group or if they are
misconceptions. We stereotype others based on events we have witnessed personally or things we
have heard about them. It is very common for people to base an entire group of people off of just a
few of the members actions. Just one of the groups that has negative stereotypes are NRA members.
NRA members are stereotyped as being racists, rednecks, and psychopaths; however these are
misconceptions. Stereotypes are like labels being slapped on to your back. There can be several

If I put myself into someone s shoes who has never shot a firearm before and the only information
they received about guns was that from the media, I could understand why they think they only cause
harm. What these people don t realize is that guns don t kill people, people kill people. In other words,
before guns were invented people still killed each other. There were entire wars fought with sticks and
stones. I m tired of the whole anti gun thing. Saying that Guns cause Murders is like saying Steering
Wheels cause car wrecks, said Stanley Paskavich. Another thing these people fail to comprehend is
that the people who use guns for evil get them illegally off the streets or from other countries. So if
guns were illegal, criminals would still get their guns off the street or from the black market and
Regular Joe s would have nothing to protect themselves. If actual psychopaths, who want to commit
school shootings, had no access to guns, would that stop them from acting radical? No, they would
find an alternative like making a makeshift bomb similar to the Taliban. Or they would use a car as a
weapon and hit lots of people. Law abiding citizens need to be able to own firearms to protect
themselves, says NRA president Wayne LaPierre. The point is, guns are not the problem. Guns do a lot
more good than they do harm. Over 13,000 people in the U.S. were

Fiona s True Love In The Film Shrek
In the film Shrek, Fiona was waiting for her brave knight to rescue her so they may have their true
love s first kiss. Yet, Fiona does not find that. She soon realizes that her brave knight or true love, is an
ogre named Shrek. She planned how it might have gone but it went completely opposite of that.
Feminists like Wollstonecraft and Woolf wouldn t approve of the way Fiona is portrayed in the film. In
the film, Fiona is cursed with turning into an ogre at sun down until she receives a true love s kiss.
Fiona is portrayed as a princess waiting for her knight to kiss her so the curse may be broken. Her
character is made to rely on a man to fix her problem, and make everything right. That is one thing
Wollstonecraft and Woolf were against.

There are many misconceptions regarding the origins of Celtic civilization. One is the Celts were
undisciplined raiders throughout all Europe until finally crashing into the Erie Isle. Another is the
Celts were an irrational people easily manipulated by witchcraft and the belief in magic. Nothing
could be more further from the truth. From Herodotus, to Plato, to Aristotle, to the Caesars of Rome ─
written histories of ancient times evidence that the original Celtic civilization was one of the greatest

 Love virtue ─ for it bringeth peace.
 Abhor vice ─ for it bringeth evil upon all.
 Obey those in authority in all just things ─ so that virtue may be exalted.
 Cultivate the social virtues ─ so shalt thou be beloved by all men.
Most of the ancient European continental laws have a common origin traceable to the early Celtic
laws (de Jubainville). The ancient Celts lived in extreme geographical isolation throughout much of
their early history. As such, their laws can be studied for their uninfluenced qualities ─ free from
changes by Roman law, which later spread throughout all Europe during the rule of the Roman Empire
(Id.).
In Celtic society a judge was called a Brehon. The brehons had absolute power in the interpretation of
the laws, as well as the specific application of law to individual cases (Ginnell). The brehons were
therefore a very influential class. Those attached to clan chiefs, had free lands for their maintenance ―
which, like the profession itself, remained in the same family for generations. Those not so attached,
lived simply on the fees of their profession, with many eminent brehons becoming somewhat wealthy

Whenever I set a goal, I first ask myself is the goal realistic and reachable and secondly if I am willing
to make changes in my life to reach those goals. While I have several goals there are a few that are
imperative to reach. One of them being a counseling center for underprivileged girls ages K 12. As a
victim and an advocate for bullying I want to highlight the situation and teach the girls how to detect

Impact Of Entrepreneurship On Business Management
Entrepreneurship is defined as the process of designing, launching and running a business. It typically
begins as a business idea such as starting a small business, offering a product or service. What is
unique about this venture is the possibility and level of risk involved for instance lack of funds, an
unforeseeable economic crisis or poor business decisions. Entrepreneurship is about how people
identify opportunities, evaluate whether they are viable and then decide to exploit them or not. The
decision to exploit an opportunity or not depends on several factors that the entrepreneur is
responsible for including cost versus how much the idea will generate, the market demand, and the
risks involved. An entrepreneur is thus an innovator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jobs are created which leads to creation of wealth and stability of the economy as well as good
conditions of a prosperous society. By coming up with new and innovative ways of doing things,
national assets are activated, for instance infrastructure development. When businesses remain in the
same domain for a long time, they experience the glass ceiling effect and are unable to proceed.
Introduction of new products and technologies therefore enable the development of new markets, and
employment which in turn creates better national income in terms of taxes and government spending
(Bruce, 2005) In addition to the benefits of entrepreneurship to the economy, it also enables people to
be independent. Business people enjoy independence in that they can make their own decisions and
they are I charge of their own work. One can toy around with unconventional means of doing things
which eventually creates creativity and innovativeness. Again the entrepreneurs become part of
motivation and inspiration to others in the society. One can follow their passion, which implies
freedom unlike when one is employed and they have to follow laid down rules. The only downside to
this is that the entrepreneur is responsible for all the risks including making huge losses (Bruce, 2005).
There are many benefits of innovation to a society, but unregulated entrepreneurship may lead to
problems such as pervasive

Eight Phases Of The Moon
The moon is the planet Earth s only natural satellite and is one of the largest in the Solar System. This
natural satellite was not formed long after Earth about 4.5 billion years ago. The gravitational forces
continue to keep the moon in orbit of Earth. Even though it appears so, the moon does not physically
produce light but it does reflect light from the sun (which is why we are able to see it). It takes our
Moon 27.3 days to completely cycle through the Lunar month, which has eight phases. Through these
different phases we see it lit from different angles and this depends upon the position of the Moon in
its orbit. These phases include; the new moon, waning crescent, third quarter, waning gibbous, full

St. Paul s work in Galatians as part of the epistles was directed to different churches thereby enabling

Argumentative Essay On The American Nightmare
The American Nightmare It s fair to say that the United States is a postcard for success and
opportunity, but what s missing is the equal chance for every US citizen to be able to achieve the
dream. In America, we base our accomplishments on the success and failure of others around us. We
have created a society built upon status, and therefore taken the Dream and stamped an unrealistic
American image all over it. There is no doubt that there is a dream, but the reality is that for many, it
only will be a dream. The gap between wealth and poverty is growing exponentially every year, and
the struggle to achieve the dream, is becoming more and more out of reach. According to the CPS,
More than half of America s working age families with children under age eighteen (approximately
20.1 million families) have annual incomes of $60,000 or below and on the opposite end of this, less
than 3% of families earn an income of $260,000 a year. The benefits of being in a higher class based
on economic and social status, labels the American Dream as invalid, where only the wealthy elite can
win. It would be favorable to say that You go as far as your dreams take you , or, You get out of the
system as much as you put in . The ideology of meritocracy is the core of the American Dream; it s
what makes America such an admirable country. But reality check, this isn t the way America seems to

transcendentalism. The big men around her, Emerson, Thoreau, Lane, but predominantly her own
father, taught her how to be a second generation transcendentalist. Mr Alcott cocooned her into his
slice of the planet and she soon lived her life as a vegan, writing a journal and living on a self
sufficient farm. However she felt a conflicting response to her father s and his friends transcendental
beliefs and Alcott found herself torn between many aspects of their beliefs. She struggled most of all
with the conflict between her position as a transcendentalist and a member of American society as she
discovered it was crucial to acknowledge both. This tension is what created most of her attitudes
which then transcended into her literature.
Alcott grew up being influenced by Emerson and Fuller s understanding of self reliance. This, as well
as her father s teaching, encouraged Alcott to grow into a woman who believed that she had great
strength as an individual. However she was aware that beyond every individual sphere was an outer
society that was hard to ignore. She had seen the effect of society when it opposed her father s
teaching methods and caused his school to close. Similarly, she felt it shutting down her chances of
becoming a successful woman writer who sought to create works of genius. She noticed that with
every individual idea, there was a chorus of society stopping it from

Outsourcing Service From A Supplier
Outsourcing is simply obtaining a product or a service from a supplier. Outsourcing services can
supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product
or service a company has never provided before.
In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would
design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support...
regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became
obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to
outsource complex portions of their work.
Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the
recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR
function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting.
The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk.
In today s world, the most effective method of doing business is for a company to focus on their core
competencies what they do best. The role of outsourcing is critical to a project s success. It can expand
the customer base and allow organizations to focus more on relationships. As outsourcing grows, it
becomes more and more important to balance advantages and disadvantages, understand the risks, and
act to mitigate those risks.

All The President s Men
Despite Haverstock s initial hesitance, once he has permission from Carol, he schemes his way around
the communication restrictions on their rescue boat and gets the story to print in the United States.
Once safely in London, he and Carol continue their dedication to journalism by reporting and urging
American intervention, all while an air raid strikes the city. The dedication shown at the end of
Foreign Correspondent better matches the journalists in All the President s Men and Spotlight.
Woodward, Bernstein, and the Spotlight team face significant resistance during their investigations
and must persevere against the odds set up by surrounding institutions, including the statute of
limitations on sexual assault and the secrecy of CREEP. Unlike ... Show more content on

Both Foreign Correspondent and All the President s Men use violent imagery and situations to
represent the stakes of their job. All the President s Men famously begins with a typewriter echoing
gunfire, indicating the inherent conflict accompanying their investigations. The movie continues with
the threats of violence against Woodward and Bernstein, specifically shown with dark, shadowy
scenes. The character Deep Throat is always depicted in a barely lit parking garage, with shadows
obscuring his face. Not coincidentally, these scenes carry the heaviest threat of violence. Similarly,
Foreign Correspondent shows far fetched scenes of violence, included multiple attempted murders of
Haverstock and the torture of Van Meer. Instead of depicting more realistic scenarios like mere threats,
director Hitchcock fully subscribes to the style of film noir and personifies what journalists face daily
as murderers, hitmen, and undercover agents. This dramatization represents the risks journalists must
often take for to accomplish what they see as their duty to the public. Again, Spotlight has a different
approach. Rather than characterizing the team as uncompromising, tough reporters, though they are,
the film shows them as more personable and compassionate to the victims. They could not have
finished the story behaving as Haverstock, Woodward, or Bernstein did because the accusers would be
scared away, and the church would be able to present it as a coordinated attack on religion. Director
McCarthy instead shows his characters as understanding and open, while simultaneously
communicating the stakes and hectic nature with the same contrast between bright scenes of
interviewing and dark scenes of investigating we see in All the President s Men and following several
plotlines at once. The films Foreign Correspondent, All the President s Men, and Spotlight vary in

Ancient China Is Surrounded by Gobi Desert
GEOGRAPHY
China is located in East Asia. Ancient China is surrounded by Gobi Desert in the north, the Pacific
Ocean in the east, the Himalayan Mountains in the southwest, and the Taklimakan desert in the west.
This land has a wide variation of animals because of the different habitats provided for them. Most
farming was done in the very fertile lands of the Yangtze valley. Present China is much bigger than
Ancient China, which means that over time, the kings and different dynasties went gaining more and
more land and wealth. All of the major rivers go in a western to eastern direction, and end up in the
Pacific Ocean. The two major rivers of China are the Yangtze and the Huan He. The major river of

RELIGION
The three most important religious beliefs in China were Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. These
people believed in many gods, making them polytheistic. Their gods were natural gods, river god,
earth god, rain god The most powerful was the sky god, T ien, the king of all gods. Confucianism isn
t really a religion; it is just the thoughts of this man and his disciples, concerned with the principles of
good conduct, practical knowledge, and proper social relationships. Confucianism is a philosophy.
Although he is a very important person in Chinese history, it still doesn t make it a religion, because
he was never a god. Confucius was born in 551BC, and died in 479 BC; he lived during the Zhou
dynasty. His father was a noble, but he died when Confucius was only a few years old. He grew as a
poor person. When he was a teenager, he became very interested in learning. In those days, only the
high class people like nobles and kings were allowed and education, so it was hard for him to get one.
So he went to work for a nobleman, and he learned much from him and he followed him everywhere,
and that granted him a chance go to the capital. He studied a lot, he probably became the most
intelligent and studied man at the time. He became known, and people sent their children to learn with
him, and he was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn. According to Confucius, Confucianism

Why Business Visionaries Need Fearlessness And Feariness
One of the principle reasons business visionaries need fearlessness and confidence is to guarantee they
use sound judgment. Effectively beginning a business will oblige settling on intense choices. Without
trust in yourself, you will discover choice making a troublesome undertaking. The more sure you are
in yourself, the more certain you are about your thoughts, improving your capacity to make great
decisions.another reason you require fearlessness as a business person is to guarantee you have an
uplifting disposition. When you begin a business, it is not difficult to permit apprehensions and
questions to keep you from accomplishing achievement. People with large amounts of trust in
themselves have an uplifting demeanor, which helps them to push fear and uncertainty away. With an
uplifting mentality, business people can push towards success.any ambitious person will let you know
that disappointment is going to happen. Setbacks happen when you re attempting to begin another

Demand, Supply And Elasticity
Demand, supply and elasticity are basic economic concepts that when applied to different markets can
help governments and individuals make informed decisions about things as basic as what to purchase
and how to collect taxes. UEA s Norwich Medical School and the Centre for Health Economics at the
University of York, conducted a survey across nearly 18,000 adult commuters from around the UK
over 18 years. A group of researchers analysed the well being of a small group who swapped their cars
or the public bus for a bike or going on foot. They re results found that those who made the switch
became happier. Demand is a curve showing the various amounts of a product consumers want and
can purchase at different prices during a specific period of time. Supply is a curve showing the
different amounts of a product suppliers are willing to provide at different prices. Equilibrium price
and quantity are determined by the intersection of demand and supply. Price elasticity of demand
(PED) indicates the responsiveness of consumers to a change in price, and is reflected in the relative
slope of demand. Production possibilities curves (PPC) show the maximum production of goods that
can be produced by an economy. Given that all of the resources are being used fully and efficiently
and the technology is fixed in the economy, shown in Figure 1 is a PPC curve of the market of cars
and bicycles. If production is devoted mostly to cars, at point A, then the quantity produced of cars,

Spilt Avocado Painting Analysis
The recreation of The Spilt Avocado Painting I viewed online is what I chose to recreate because the
image captured my eye due to the shadows that appear from the top light within the painting. While
looking at the painting you can see yourself staring in the direction the reflecting shadows from the
top light. The sources of the light coming from the left of the avocado forces the shadow to overlap on
top of the other slice, which ultimately draws the observer s attention to the colour of the avocado.
Although you might notice the colour of the avocado at first, the shadows indicate a calming mood
due to the placement of the light. Additionally, the shadow is showing the direction of light, which is
coming from which effects the shade of green the avocado might appear. This ... Show more content

Having to use an actual avocado to model and remake of this painting had its challenges. In addition, I
also did not have a blue surface to lay the avocados on to capture the same light reflection off the wall.
However, I did manage to capture most of the paintings elements in my picture recreation by the
placement of my desk lamp and by having my picture based on a white sheet of paper. I used a desk
lamp to be able to recreate the painting light sources through the direction I placed the light to create
the same shadows from the painting. The challenging part about using a desk lamp was trying to
figure out the right distance I needed to direct the light at the avocados to achieve the same shadows.
In addition, to the challenging things with the process of remaking the painting was to attain the same
position of the avocado to be able to capture the right colour intensity that displays the right
distribution of the avocado. Lastly, from all obstacles I was faced with while recreating The Split

Analysis Of In Feed By Walker Percy
Walker Percy, an author and philosopher, said that, You live in a deranged age, more deranged that
usual, because in spite of great scientific and technological advances, man has not the faintest idea of
who he is or what he is doing. In Feed, a satirical novel by M.T. Anderson, the characters often seem
as if they don t have an understanding of what is happening in the world around them. Feed is mainly
about Titus, the narrator who displays more complexity than his friends, and Violet, his individualistic
girlfriend who is constantly challenging concepts in their world. In addition to Titus and Violet, M.T.
Anderson includes many significant secondary figures, one of which is named Quendy. Quendy is
more mainstream, meaning that she follows the current trends and is very dependent on the feed, and
is more of an average teenager in their society. Quendy, a static character, is used to satirize the idea of
trends throughout the novel and to show that because of this, people don t seem to have their own
opinions.
M.T. Anderson uses Quendy to illuminate how trends work in their society. Throughout the book,
Quendy is seen trying to keep up with the current styles, which constantly involves checking to make
sure they have not changed. When Quendy and her friends are at Ricochet Lounge, a place where you
can fly around in low gravity, Quendy and Loga went off to the bathroom because hairstyles had
changed (20). Instead of having fun with her friends, Quendy is so

Explaining the Term Urbanisation Essay
Explaining the Term Urbanisation
Urbanisation is the process in which the number of people living in cities increases compared with the
number of people living in rural areas. A country is considered to be urbanised when over 50% of its
population lives in urban places. In the UK the movement of people from rural to urban areas
followed the industrial revolution as people were needed to work in the factories in the CBD. It took
place throughout the 19th and Early 20th Centuries in Europe and North America. By 1950 most of
the people in these two continents lived in urban area. However their urbanisation was relatively slow,
allowing government s time to plan and provide for the needs of increasing ... Show more content on

Urbanisation results in urban sprawl. Urban sprawl is the expansion of urban areas into surrounding
non urban areas. In developing countries it occurs largely as a result of growing cities. In developed
countries car dependence is a major factor. For example in London UK, people may prefer to live in
the outskirts of the city where it is less congested and polluted and then commute to work using public
transport or their own cars.
Rapid urbanisation occurred during the period of industrialisation that took place in Europe and North
America in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many people moved from rural to urban areas
to get jobs. Since 1950 the most rapid growth in urbanisation has occurred in LEDCs, such as South
America, Africa and Asia. Between 1950 and 1990 the urban population living in LEDCs doubled. In
developed countries the increase was less than half.
People living in rural areas are pulled to the city. Often they believe that the standard of living in
urban areas will be much better than that in rural areas., however they are usually wrong. People also
hope for well paid jobs, and the greater opportunities to find casual or informal work.
2.) Explain the changing distributions of the world s largest counter urbanisation cities in recent years.
Counter urbanisation is a process of decentralisation where

common. They both have lost loved ones in their lives. This is an important story line in both
monologues, as I will explain later on. The music in these monologues feels the emotions of what the
characters are feeling. When there is a scene where Doris or Irene is happy, the music will go along
with the expressions. I could tell when the topic came up on the loved lost ones it was a very dramatic
time for Irene and Doris. The music drained out the room with a slow deep beat of a bellow. This
makes the monologues more realistic with the different types and style of music, and with the pauses
where no music is played at all. Cream cracker under the settee and lady of letters are both set in
houses. Which are very stereotypical houses for the elderly, with the dull colours, except in these
houses they have horrible bars on their windows that couldn t make Doris and Irene feel very
comfortable. There are a number of things I could write for Doris and Irene, imprisonment, lack and
loss and the endings of the monologues. But I have chosen to go in deeply about the loneliness and
how it has affected them. I feel that this topic is one of the main structures of the monologues. IRENE

Essay On Oil Spills
7 years ago, one of the largest oil spills in history occurred at the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. To this
day, the damage is still being cleaned up, and will never be the same as it was before. The wellhead at
the ocean floor is emptying oil contents at an incredibly high rate, causing the sea to be flooded with
the harmful, unnatural substance. It is not until recently that scientists have found a way to help
minimize the drastic consequences, yet they still didn t even have time to experiment their supposedly
helpful chemical. Their plan is to dump another unnatural chemical into the water to help disperse the
oil. With the oil droplets becoming comparably smaller, the slippery substance is less apparent in the
water and seems to have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this much of a substance being pumped into an ecosystem that doesn t compensate for its
presence, marine life has a definite chance of being drastically depleted even more. Unfortunately, it
also contaminates the air and the food chain it travels up until it can even reach us. The oil has already
contaminated the shores of many US beaches, and it d only be a matter of time until our oceans would
be too polluted to swim in. What would this say about the aquatic organisms or the animals we
consume from the ocean? Not to mention all the people who would be affected by this. No one wants
to swim in dirty water and we do not want the next generation to have to either. It is our responsibility
to keep the Earth clean. The other side to dumping the chemical to disperse the oil spill, is that there
was not enough research conducted to do so.It could be argued that the decision to dump more of an
unknown chemical into the water was rash, and could ve had dangerous consequences. There is still
no clear answer if the chemical is harmful to the biotic life, or any of the ecosystem at all. It may only
cause more issues that we have to deal with later on. While one problem is solved, another is created.
This is what s wrong with human society. We are ruining our planet, but the only way we know how to

Gladwell begins the chapter by narrating the crash of Korean Air flight 80. The plane was in good
condition and so was the weather; but tragedy ends up slamming into the side of a mountain. Gladwell
explains that plane crashes are rare, and in Chapter 7 of Outliers, he wants the reader to know how and
why these pilots have been failing to land planes. Consequently, Gladwell begins to explain how
Korean Air turned itself around, and he discusses how important it is to address cultural differences
and legacies. Crashes are rare, and most of the time are consequences of many unrelated factors. Many

United States History And Coach High School Football Essay
I ve spent the last few years under the impression people make too big of a deal of coming out when
their sexuality differs from the social norm. It s something that people tend to over represent and kind
of force onto others too often, making it slightly overbearing for those who view it differently from
members of the LGBT community and their supporters. At the end of the day though, it s a matter of
both self acceptance for those who struggle with their sexuality, and representation to help make it a
less daunting and intimidating thing to be open about being different.
I m gay. I didn t want to be for a long time, but what I ve come to realize is that there s no reason for
me to dislike who I am. I m an intelligent, compassionate young man. I m funny (at times) and have
ambitions and goals. I want to teach United States history and coach high school football. I want to
help educate the future generations of this country. I ve worked full time factory jobs, minimum wage
part time jobs, and most of what s in between. I enjoy sports, eSports (which I someday hope I don t
have to distinguish from sports, but that s a conversation for another time) and spending time with my
friends. I am a perfectly normal, wonderful human being... and I am gay.

Technology’s Detrimental Effects on Communication
Recent advancements in technology, especially social networking, have severely hindered the
communication skills of today s society by promoting edited, impersonal and staged communication.
Today s society places a high value on websites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter; so much so,
that it is startling when someone does not own a profile on a social network. The dependency on
technological communication continues to reduce the ability of today s generation to read body
language, facial expressions, and to clearly vocalize what is important to them. Technology has

Although technology was not an option to Baca, he realized that words do not stem from the physical
world. Language does not come from books, formulas, or from a glowing white screen. With
technology thrown into the mix, communication can become anonymous, edited, and thought out
before it is written down/typed up. Written, typed, and texted communication skills are vastly different
from the communication skills needed to hold a conversation in the flesh. It requires a level of grace
and mindfulness to communicate in the real world, especially when it comes to arguments and matters
of great importance. (Such as proposing to your significant other, or a job interview.) When you type a
sentence on a screen, you have the option to reread it, edit it, add to it, and even delete it. Typed
communication allows for the user to edit and censor their thoughts before they are sent out in a
message/post/e mail/etc. While this skill is useful for writing a paper and for creating a resume, it does
not translate well to genuine conversation. Since many people rely on spell check and the delete
button, it does not reinforce the skills that would allow them to catch those mistakes of their own
accord. A lack of mental filtering skills can lead an individual to misspeak and say something
embarrassing, insulting and even cruel in face to face

  • 2. Subliminal Context of Horror within Frankenstein by Mary... Frankenstein deals with much. It has the obvious nightmarish terrors represented in the monster, terrifying in both sight and murderous actions. There however exists a subliminal context of horror within the narrative. The characters within the narrative reveal the moral shortcomings of humanity, and when stripped to its base constructs, amount to little more than what the monster becomes. It shows the psychological frailty of man, and when unhinged the dangers it is capable of. The civilized mind can refer to both the individual and society, or humanity as a whole. It is also interesting and worth to note the interaction and juxtaposition of the two entities interacting with each other; the terrors within the individual under the cloak of a civilized mind intermingling with society and the demons in hides away in the shadows. Fear is oftentimes the culprit of a mind s downfall. It transforms average anxieties and typical __ into nightmarish terrors which run rampant in Gothic Writing. It is why Gothic writing had, and stil has a foothold in the realm of literature, the texts within the genre speak to the fears that incessantly itch the brain. One of these fears would be loneliness (reword). Unwelcome solitude has the ability to drive a sane man to insanity and a mad man to decrepitude. It is what first borne the ill will within the monster, for I was benevolent; my soul glowed with love and humanity: but am I not alone, miserably alone? (100). Knowledge is the ... • 3. The Thus Spoke Zarathustra By The Nineteenth Century In the Thus Spoke Zarathustra , written by the 19th century philosopher Nietzsche, we are presented with many sermons that are structure similar to parables from the Lutheran Bible. These sermons are given to us by the main character, Zarathustra, on our quest to find the overman (ubermench). Zarathustra uses many characters to present stories about the flaws of humanity and how we are to get better. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra , Zarathustra uses the character of an ass (donkey) that was first presented to us through the sermon of Talking to the kings and plays a major role in the later novel. The Ass is used as an idol that many of Zarathustra s guests praise as a God. The utilization of the Ass as an idol of worship is Nietzsche s criticism on how Christians worship their God. In the sermon of Talking to two kings , Zarathustra hears two men approaching where he was dwelling. He called out to them and realized that they were two kings searching for the overman. Zarathustra introduces the Ass by yelling out to the kings saying, Strange! Strange! How does this fit together? Two kings I see and only one ass! (356 p2). The kings reply to Zarathustra and when he is presents himself to them, the kings are it total dismay. They explain that they are looking for the overman for he is the one higher than the lords. Zarathustra is pleased by their desire to find the overman. The kings then told Zarathustra that they plan to convey the Ass to the overman. During the time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of To A Mouse And To A Mouse In 1786, Robert Burns published his first line of poetry Poems: Chiefly in Scottish Dialect which made him well known with the poems of To a Mouse , and To a Louse . His techniques included writing six lines for each stanza. The rhyme scheme to these lines consist of AAABA giving the first, second, third, and fifth lines four pairs of stressed and unstressed syllables. What I mean by if you stress the first syllable, the subject will be totally different than an unstressed subject. In his poetry, the fourth and sixth lines are different from the other lines. These two lines consist of two pairs of stressed and unstressed syllables which is similar to a limerick or a ballad. This essay will be a compare and contrast of his two poems To a Mouse, and To a Louse and a breakdown of these stanzas. In Burns s poem of To a Mouse , his first stanza is talking about the destruction of a mouse s nest as the character is doing his winter plowing. As he addresses the mouse he is reassuring the mouse there is no harm intended. It moves onto him, saying nature has been destroyed by man s rule and how man s dominion is the reason the mouse is afraid of man. The plowman s humanity is described as poor, and the mouse s earth born companion. Daimen means rare or occasional, an icker is one ear of corn, and a thrave is a measure of cut grain. He says it s not a big deal if the mouse takes an ear of corn every once in awhile and it s not a huge request and it won t be missed when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. How Can Relationships Benefit From Enhanced Trust Which of my important relationships would benefit from enhanced trust? The relationship I have with my family, specifically my dad would be better with enhanced trust. For about six years my dad did not live with the rest of the family in Canada, instead he lived in Nigeria. My parents were not divorced, but he wanted to live in Nigeria while we wanted to live in Canada. We would visit him on and off like during the summer and he would come here to Canada and stay for a couple of weeks. In 2012, he decided to stay here and live with us. But for the past three years, many things have changed around the house. Our routine is completely different and it s hard to keep track. It s not like I don t trust my father it s just that he has not been there for me all the time, so it s hard for me to just easily trust him. I m so used to relying on my mother for many things and I still do till this day. This is an important relationship to me and we need to enhance trust so that we can keep this family going. • 6. Managing Multi Generation Workforce MANAGING MULTI GENERATION WORKFORCE A NEW CHALLENGE IN I.T. INDUSTRY By: Nidhi Chandorkar Bunts Sangha s S.M. Shetty College of Science, Commerce Management Studies, Powai ABSTRACT: Today is the time which can be marked when we can see four generation rubbing their shoulders more or less happily under the same roof of an organisation. Though these generations show drastic variations in terms of their values, commitments, motivational factors, dissatisfiers, work environment, approach towards job etc., yet every generation has got some exceptional benefits for the organisation. Organisation cannot afford to value any of them less than the others. Talking about IT industry, we can hardly see anyone from the oldest generation who are called as the Traditionalists. As the IT sector has reached its forties you can find atleast three generations Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y joining hands for the success of the organisation. Easier said than done, managing these three generation has given a tough time to the top managers. The industries have seen their employees below 25 years of age growing into more matured workforce and their changed focus have forced the Human Resource Managers to change their basic policies, which were initially made for care free employees recruited freshly from the campus. This situation has not only posed a challenge in terms of managing the differences but also making them work under same policy framework. This research work helps in ... • 9. Scopes Monkey Trial Research Paper The aftermath of the Great war and the Great Depression brought on a dramatic social change in America in the 1920s. The social change was a revolution that brought on two fundamentally different beings; modernists and fundamentalists. While fundamentalists valued the bible, and lived by it in its entirety, modernists were more self conscious and favored creativity and common sense rather than the bible. The divide had to come head when the controversial Scopes Monkey Trial began and new theories were explored which were then applied in modernist art, literature, and the way of thinking. The revolution in manners in morals is the direct outcome of new innovations studied in the twentieth century. The Scopes Monkey Trial is a direct reflection ... The huge influence the reject God was largely responsible of famed psychist, Albert Einstein. His contributions in science left individuals unsure about the past and curious about the future. Einstein theorized that space, time, matter, and energy were not distinct (Shi and Tindall 799). His research left many to embrace the idea that there were no absolute standards or fixed points of reference in the world (Shi and Tindall 799) . What was once said that God created all was questioned with Einstein s research. Another man s research in psychoanalysis questioned the morals and the way that people carried out their lives in the 1920s. Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst from Europe, heavily influenced Americans because of his teachings about sex and behavior. Freud believed that the mind was essentially and mysteriously conflicted by often unconscious efforts to control or repress powerful irrational impulses or sexual desires (Shi and Tindall 799). His work gave life a deeper meaning and influenced sexual liberation. Writers expressed their art through dreams and imaginations. The new revelations bought on by Einstein and Freud changed the way of life for both modernists and fundamentalists. Modernists applied the news ideas by applying them into their life by expressing themselves through art, rejecting the bible, and imagine about the unknown. Along with the Hudood laws came the Zina Ordinances, which are a part of the Islamic defined reform system of the legal and social structures (62 ROUSE). These ordinances sought to modify laws in order to conform the existing Islamic laws with the Law of Evidence and the Law of Blasphemy (KHAN 1). They were related to adultery, fornication, rape, and prostitution, matters that mostly involve women (JEFFREY BASU). Under the Zina Ordinances, a predetermined punishment is assigned to offenders based on the reading of Sura, Chapter 24, and verse 2 of the Qur an (Khan 2). If you were married and found guilty of fornication, the traditional punishment was death. Under the Zina Ordinances, this became the first time in Pakistan s history that illicit sex became a crime against the state, punishable by death (Khan 2). If it cannot be proved that rape occurred, then the act of sex becomes a crime against the state. No woman has been put to death under these laws but frequent whippings occurred (Khan 3). There were entire wars fought with sticks and stones. I m tired of the whole anti gun thing. Saying that Guns cause Murders is like saying Steering Wheels cause car wrecks, said Stanley Paskavich. Another thing these people fail to comprehend is that the people who use guns for evil get them illegally off the streets or from other countries. So if guns were illegal, criminals would still get their guns off the street or from the black market and Regular Joe s would have nothing to protect themselves. If actual psychopaths, who want to commit school shootings, had no access to guns, would that stop them from acting radical? No, they would find an alternative like making a makeshift bomb similar to the Taliban. Or they would use a car as a weapon and hit lots of people. Another is the Celts were an irrational people easily manipulated by witchcraft and the belief in magic. Nothing could be more further from the truth. From Herodotus, to Plato, to Aristotle, to the Caesars of Rome ─ written histories of ancient times evidence that the original Celtic civilization was one of the greatest original societies of all time. Most of the ancient European continental laws have a common origin traceable to the early Celtic laws (de Jubainville). The ancient Celts lived in extreme geographical isolation throughout much of their early history. As such, their laws can be studied for their uninfluenced qualities ─ free from changes by Roman law, which later spread throughout all Europe during the rule of the Roman Empire (Id.). In Celtic society a judge was called a Brehon. The brehons had absolute power in the interpretation of the laws, as well as the specific application of law to individual cases (Ginnell). The brehons were therefore a very influential class. Those attached to clan chiefs, had free lands for their maintenance ― which, like the profession itself, remained in the same family for generations. Those not so attached, lived simply on the fees of their profession, with many eminent brehons becoming somewhat wealthy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It typically begins as a business idea such as starting a small business, offering a product or service. Entrepreneurship is about how people identify opportunities, evaluate whether they are viable and then decide to exploit them or not. This natural satellite was not formed long after Earth about 4.5 billion years ago. The gravitational forces continue to keep the moon in orbit of Earth. Even though it appears so, the moon does not physically produce light but it does reflect light from the sun (which is why we are able to see it). It takes our Moon 27.3 days to completely cycle through the Lunar month, which has eight phases. Argumentative Essay On The American Nightmare The American Nightmare It s fair to say that the United States is a postcard for success and opportunity, but what s missing is the equal chance for every US citizen to be able to achieve the dream. In America, we base our accomplishments on the success and failure of others around us. We have created a society built upon status, and therefore taken the Dream and stamped an unrealistic American image all over it. There is no doubt that there is a dream, but the reality is that for many, it only will be a dream. The gap between wealth and poverty is growing exponentially every year, and the struggle to achieve the dream, is becoming more and more out of reach. According to the CPS, More than half of America s working age families with children under age eighteen (approximately 20.1 million families) have annual incomes of $60,000 or below and on the opposite end of this, less than 3% of families earn an income of $260,000 a year. The benefits of being in a higher class based on economic and social status, labels the American Dream as invalid, where only the wealthy elite can win. It would be favorable to say that You go as far as your dreams take you , or, You get out of the system as much as you put in . The big men around her, Emerson, Thoreau, Lane, but predominantly her own father, taught her how to be a second generation transcendentalist. Mr Alcott cocooned her into his slice of the planet and she soon lived her life as a vegan, writing a journal and living on a self sufficient farm. However she felt a conflicting response to her father s and his friends transcendental beliefs and Alcott found herself torn between many aspects of their beliefs. She struggled most of all with the conflict between her position as a transcendentalist and a member of American society as she discovered it was crucial to acknowledge both. This tension is what created most of her attitudes which then transcended into her literature. Alcott grew up being influenced by Emerson and Fuller s understanding of self reliance. This, as well as her father s teaching, encouraged Alcott to grow into a woman who believed that she had great strength as an individual. However she was aware that beyond every individual sphere was an outer society that was hard to ignore. She had seen the effect of society when it opposed her father s teaching methods and caused his school to close. Similarly, she felt it shutting down her chances of becoming a successful woman writer who sought to create works of genius. Outsourcing services can supplement an existing internal source, replace an existing internal source, or consist of a new product or service a company has never provided before. In the past, it was commonplace for companies to try to do it all. Manufacturing companies would design, engineer, and build the end product while providing Information Technology support... regardless of the complexity of the end product and its components. As time went on, it became obvious that a company cannot do it all. It became more and more routine for organizations to outsource complex portions of their work. Smaller companies found it useful to outsource their payroll processing. This soon grew into the recognition that if it is better to outsource payroll, why not consider outsourcing the entire HR function? Industries began to grow to support vertical business services such as HR and accounting. The companies that are chosen to provide the service also accept a part of the risk. All the President s Men famously begins with a typewriter echoing gunfire, indicating the inherent conflict accompanying their investigations. The movie continues with the threats of violence against Woodward and Bernstein, specifically shown with dark, shadowy scenes. The character Deep Throat is always depicted in a barely lit parking garage, with shadows obscuring his face. Not coincidentally, these scenes carry the heaviest threat of violence. Similarly, Foreign Correspondent shows far fetched scenes of violence, included multiple attempted murders of Haverstock and the torture of Van Meer. Instead of depicting more realistic scenarios like mere threats, director Hitchcock fully subscribes to the style of film noir and personifies what journalists face daily as murderers, hitmen, and undercover agents. This dramatization represents the risks journalists must often take for to accomplish what they see as their duty to the public. Again, Spotlight has a different approach. Rather than characterizing the team as uncompromising, tough reporters, though they are, the film shows them as more personable and compassionate to the victims. They could not have finished the story behaving as Haverstock, Woodward, or Bernstein did because the accusers would be scared away, and the church would be able to present it as a coordinated attack on religion. Director McCarthy instead shows his characters as understanding and open, while simultaneously communicating the stakes and hectic nature with the same contrast between bright scenes of interviewing and dark scenes of investigating we see in All the President s Men and following several plotlines at once. • 35. Chapter 7 Of Outliers By Gwen Gladwell Gladwell begins the chapter by narrating the crash of Korean Air flight 80. The plane was in good condition and so was the weather; but tragedy ends up slamming into the side of a mountain. Gladwell explains that plane crashes are rare, and in Chapter 7 of Outliers, he wants the reader to know how and why these pilots have been failing to land planes. Consequently, Gladwell begins to explain how Korean Air turned itself around, and he discusses how important it is to address cultural differences and legacies. • 36. United States History And Coach High School Football Essay I ve spent the last few years under the impression people make too big of a deal of coming out when their sexuality differs from the social norm. It s something that people tend to over represent and kind of force onto others too often, making it slightly overbearing for those who view it differently from members of the LGBT community and their supporters. At the end of the day though, it s a matter of both self acceptance for those who struggle with their sexuality, and representation to help make it a less daunting and intimidating thing to be open about being different. I m gay. I didn t want to be for a long time, but what I ve come to realize is that there s no reason for me to dislike who I am. I m an intelligent, compassionate young man. I m funny (at times) and have ambitions and goals. I want to teach United States history and coach high school football. I want to help educate the future generations of this country. I ve worked full time factory jobs, minimum wage part time jobs, and most of what s in between. I enjoy sports, eSports (which I someday hope I don t have to distinguish from sports, but that s a conversation for another time) and spending time with my friends. I am a perfectly normal, wonderful human being... and I am gay. I come from a devoutly conservative family in every imaginable way. In my family, LGBT s are people that can be fixed if you just pray the gay away and get right with Jesus. I have no relationship with my biological father, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Technology’s Detrimental Effects on Communication Recent advancements in technology, especially social networking, have severely hindered the communication skills of today s society by promoting edited, impersonal and staged communication. Today s society places a high value on websites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter; so much so, that it is startling when someone does not own a profile on a social network. The dependency on technological communication continues to reduce the ability of today s generation to read body language, facial expressions, and to clearly vocalize what is important to them. Technology has changed drastically in the past 50 years, and continues to grow and morph every day. Today s youth and adolescents are seen with their heads down, texting on their ... Language does not come from books, formulas, or from a glowing white screen. With technology thrown into the mix, communication can become anonymous, edited, and thought out before it is written down/typed up. Written, typed, and texted communication skills are vastly different from the communication skills needed to hold a conversation in the flesh. It requires a level of grace and mindfulness to communicate in the real world, especially when it comes to arguments and matters of great importance. (Such as proposing to your significant other, or a job interview.) When you type a sentence on a screen, you have the option to reread it, edit it, add to it, and even delete it. Typed communication allows for the user to edit and censor their thoughts before they are sent out in a message/post/e mail/etc. While this skill is useful for writing a paper and for creating a resume, it does not translate well to genuine conversation. Since many people rely on spell check and the delete button, it does not reinforce the skills that would allow them to catch those mistakes of their own accord. A lack of mental filtering skills can lead an individual to misspeak and say something embarrassing, insulting and even cruel in face to face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
