Analysis Of The Novel The Sun Also Rises
The Portrayal of Human Relationship in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises
Hemingway carried the style and attitude of his short stories into his first great novel The Sun Also Rises (1926). He
dedicated this novel to his first wife, Hedley Richardson. The novel divided into three books and which also divided into
several chapters. The novel begins in Paris, France, moves to Pamplona, Spain and concludes in Madrid, Spain.
The Sun Also Rises portrayed the lives of the members of the Lost Generation. The Lost generation was the group of men and
women whose early adulthood was consumed by world war I. the war upset many people s beliefs in traditional values of
love, faith and manhood. During the war those who worked in the war suffered great moral and psychological aimlessness.
The unsuccessful looking for meaning in the wake of the Great War shapes the novel The Sun Also Rises. Although the
characters rarely mention the war directly its effects haunts everything they do and say. Hemingway opens the novel with
Gertrude Stein s words, you are the lost generation . It is a line taken from Ecclesiastes in which the title The Sun Also Rises
appeared. Hemingway himself was a part that had real motivation or guidance in their lives. The lost generation people were
coped with the war through their artistic elements. In this novel, The Sun Also Rises Hemingway presented all the characters
are also lost like him because they had no aim or purpose in like except getting

The Role Of A Vice President
I claim that the role of Vice President of the United States of America is not an essential role in our government. The Vice
President was originally picked based on who had the second most votes. The person who had the most votes would become
the President. It was quickly realized that this process would no longer. It was most evident after the crisis of 1801, when
there was multiple revotes due to constant ties in the votes. Especially in the early years Vice President was looked at as one
of the most useless positions ever invented. Vice President John N. Garner even said that is wasn t even worth a pitcher of
warm spit. That fact that it is men who have held this position that are ridiculing it really shows how the position is looked at.

The Biggest Earthquake Ever
May 22nd, 1960 this date will forever be in the records of history as one of the days when humanity has witness the power of
nature like never before and until today there hasn t been anything similar to this cataclysm. Earthquakes are known around
the world for their destruction and its killing path that in the most powerful situations they can provoke. An earthquake
happens when two blocks of the earth suddenly slip past one another and the surface where they slip is called the fault. The
location of the earthquake above the surface is called the epicenter. Earthquakes has foreshocks and aftershocks this are these
are smaller earthquakes that take place before and after the main shocks in the same Area. Aftershocks can still taking place
after the main shock for weeks and months and create more destruction in the zones that have already been affected by an
earthquake. The 1960 earthquake the biggest earthquake ever recorder had a foreshock magnitude of 8.1 and was followed by
a 9.5 earthquake that completely destroyed the city of Valdivia and affected many others part of the world with tsunamis in
almost all the pacific ocean it also caused the eruption of a volcano in Chile adding more destruction to this country and
costing more lives. This paper will give important information above this big catastrophic event of nature and its effects on
Chile and others part of the world that

Humans’ Moral Obligation to Preserve Endangered Species
Humans Moral Obligation to Preserve Endangered Species
Many species that exists today are becoming endangered to extinction. In the past era where humans did not exist, extinction
occurred due to natural causes. On this present time however, extinction of species are threatened by humans existence.
Humans are the only moral agent; in which, it has the intellectual capacity that animals and plants do not have. Thus, humans
are powerful and dominate over any species. Many practices that humans do such as: tree logging, environment pollution,
exploitation of animals and others has led to many species being endangered to extinction. Thus, humans have a moral
obligation to preserve endangered species for such reasons focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example would be the Foklorama event here in Winnipeg where people represents their countries and shows off their
culture by educating people about their culture. Therefore, humans have a moral obligation to preserve endangered species
base on communities cultural icons. Every place has a unique species in which it can only be found in those places. Those
unique species is a part of which it represents their culture. For instance, a caribou is a cultural icon of Manitoba; Philippine
eagle is an endangered species and is the national bird of the Philippines; as well as panda bears for China, koala bears for
Australia and others. In addition, people value individual animals simply because of their beauty. As Lill Marlene Russow
(2003 p.475) sums up, individual animals can have, to a greater or lesser degree, aesthetic value: they are valued for their
simple beauty, for their awesomeness, for their intriguing adaptations, for their rarity, and for many other reasons. We have a
moral obligations to protect things of aesthetic value, and to ensure their continued existence. Many people like to travel to
different places and admire the beauty of different species. The beauty of individual animals attracts people to visit and it adds
to admiration of the culture of the place. Thus, to preserve the cultural icon that represents individual culture, humans have a
moral obligation to preserve endangered

How Social Science Fields Studied And Interpret The...
The first weeks of the course we have tackled the question of how different social science fields studied and interpret the
history of Africa. When reading Africanizing Anthropology it gave us an insight of how the field of anthropology was
changing the way they conducted studies in order to maximize the information and better interpret it. Many fields of sciences
from anthropology to political scientist would analyze Africa through western lenses (Schumaker). This meant they saw
Africa as a resource for the west nothing more than that. Thus when reading Africanizing Anthropology we see how much
more information they were able to gather just by changing the way they would collect the information. We also see helpers
and interpreters being Africans which helped the anthropologist get to villages and towns where they can really gather useful
and accurate information. Nonetheless, we can argue that the African interprets and helpers were not given enough credit, yet
this is the beginning of change within the social sciences.
After analyzing how social scientist gathered and interpreted the continent of Africa we go into the question of modernity
within Africa. Before I go into this discussion it is important to define what modernity is. This word has many definitions and
can be interpret differently depending where you are. Some may argue that modernity is having a capitalist economy or
having a democratic political structure. Modernity is also closely associated with

Equality-72521 Quotes
In Ayn Rand s Anthem, Equality 72521 stands out from the rest. Smarter, taller, and an urge to discover and explore set him
apart from his brothers and sisters. This individuality drives him forward and influences his growth throughout the book as he
discovers secrets long lost and realizes the flaws in his society. From a young age, Equality 72521 stands out from his
brothers. Not only does he express too much interest in science and discovery, but he s also taller than most men, which
further influences the treatment he receives from others. Ever have the Teachers and the Leaders... said There is evil in your
bones... for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers. (Rand 18) This quote depicts Equality 72521 being
scolded because of his height. Though he cannot change the way he grows, it is treated as a character defect nonetheless.

Clarinets Observation
In band there is about 150 students to two teachers. We have different sections that are split up by the instruments. There are
even smaller groups inside each of the eight main sections. In the section that I belong to, clarinets we have three smaller
groups. The hard workers, ones who put in some work, and just the slackers or ones who do not do a whole bunch of work.
The first group of clarinets are the hard workers; ones who do more than expected. Clarinets have many keys on our
instruments so, it takes a huge amount of memorization to know all of the notes. The instrument has twenty four keys, and can
play fifty two different notes. Some people do not all of the notes right away. Like the third octave, or the extremely high
ones. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ignore them talking, or do not even listen to them. These people do not try to fix a problem if there is one. This group will
listen to the teacher, but not any other person trying to help. They will sometimes act like they understand what is being said,
but in reality has no clue about is going on. A section leader could be fixing something, and ask them a question. They will
not be able to answer because they were not listening. They do what they think might be right, but really it is totally the
opposite. It is more than likely wrong. So others have to put in extra work to make up for their mistakes. They know few
notes,or the standard notes we play regularly. The low notes in the first octave, do not go any higher or lower. Even though if
one persons know the first octave whom should know the lower one of those certain notes. The first octave are the first notes

Case Study Of Cagkor Air
Introduction
The research question in the title of this extended essay focuses on Should Cambodia Angkor Air change their marketing
strategies to increase their market share of flights between Siem Reap and Guangzhou? Due to the recent development in the
Chinese tourism market there has also been a growth in Cambodia s aviation market . Cambodia Angkor Air is the nation s
flag carrier and has also started expanding into the market segment of flights between Cambodia and China. Currently they
are not the market leader of this flight route, this could be because the marketing strategies of the airlines might not be
appropriate for the clientele. In order to answer this research question the appropriate secondary research was undertaken. The
research consists mainly of research from aviation websites like the Center for Aviation (CAPA), which comments on the
development of the airlines. Websites that comments on the development of Cambodia were also consulted. Additionally, the
released by Cambodia Angkor Air regarding this market segment was also consulted. The following structure has been
designed to answer the research question. The introduction introduces the research question, context and the significance of
the essay, as well as the methodology and structure employed. The body would consist of two sections: The first section is the

marketing strategy. Additionally, Cambodia Angkor Air or other interested parties could use this information to further

Animal Rights: The Perpetual Disputes Over Animal Sterilization Human jurisdiction over animals has been a controversial
idea since the most ancient times (Clemmitt). Both species have an interdependent relationship with each other, and in more
recent years, tensions have grown about how to foster the relationship. In the twenty first century, animal overpopulation an
excess of cats and dogs (Frank 114) has risen to a global issue, and areas of the world such as Shanghai, China are especially
affected (Shanghai). Humans exercise their authority over animals by sterilizing them, trapping them, and keeping them in
shelters, all in an effort to combat animal overpopulation. Some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peter Singer, the author of Animal Liberation, states that human to human equality should be extended to animals because
humans and animals both possess the same perception of pain. Singer says, Nearly all the external signs that lead us to infer
pain in other humans can be seen in other species, especially the species most closely related to us the species of mammals
and birds (Singer 11). Singer states his personal view on animal rights. Many people hold similar views, and these people
believe that the issue of animal overpopulation should be addressed by means that most benefit animals. This type of view
clashes with views that humans needs must come first. Even among thosewithin this group of people who prioritize animals,
there are disputes about how to most ethically treat animals. Some oppose animal sterilization, while others believe it is a
completely humane practice, again, therefore yielding no conclusive solution to the

Mount St Helen Research Paper
Mount Saint Helen
The theory of the continental drift is that the continents have slowly drifted to their current location. Alfred Wegener believed
that all the seven continents were once a supercontinent known as Pangea. A discovery that came from climate clues like
glacial deposits in South America, Africa, Australia and India. Rock and fossils matching evidence found in South America
and Africa.
The theory of plate tectonics states that Earth s outer shell is divided into plates. The crust and upper mantle is broken into
plates that move around on the mantle, changing in size throughout time. The lithosphere makes up the crust and upper mantle
and the asthenosphere a plastic like layer beneath the lithosphere. There are three types of plate boundaries. Divergent
boundaries where two plates move away from each other. The ocean widens and new crust forms at the mid oceanic ridge.
Convergent boundaries has three types of converging, moving two plates towards each other. First we have an ocean floor
plate that collides with a less dense continental plate. Next an ocean floor plate collides with another ocean floor plate. Finally
a continental plate collides with another continental plate. Transform boundaries were two plates slide past one another. The
resulting effects of plate tectonics is landforms such as rift valleys, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Crash Of The United States
On December 13th, 1982 one of the most memorable plane accidents happened on Fourteenth Street bridge which happens to
cross over the Potomac River. On a cold and snowy day just after 4 o clock a 737 Boeing airplane crashed into the river near
Washington D.C. The flight was supposed to return to Ft. Lauderdale, however, snow in Washington briefly closed the airport.
When the airport reopened, the plane was de iced, but still had difficulties once it got into the air due to the ice. Seventy four
passengers and five crew members were on the plane and unfortunately seventy three of them died. When the plane crashes, it
struck multiple vehicles and then hit a section of the bridge. On the bridge four people were killed and another four people
were injured. The main reason so many perished were due to the extreme cold of the water, the snow storm conditions and the
heavy traffic, which prevented firefighters from reaching the site of the crash, and the failures of Air Florida s flight crew. The
water temperature in the Potomac at the time was around thirty four degrees Fahrenheit. According to Amanda Ripley s The
Unthinkable , humans have a low tolerance for extreme temperatures and cannot spend long periods of time in those ranges.

define the Iranian culture, how those cultures interact in the joint, multinational, and interagency (JIIM) community, how the

Islamic restrictions on dress code and total veiling might have affected the appearance of women in public, but historical
accounts of lavish marriages between Caliphs and their beautiful brides attest to the diversity of designs, colours and fabrics
worn indoors (Price, Culture of Iran ).
From this statement, you can see that the Iranian people believe that covering their women in public is very important but
when it comes to fashion inside their home, their dresses and the fabric they use in their home can be very colorful.
The personal rituals and celebrations in Iran have many ways but when you look how they look at life after death, you can tell
how serious their culture is towards this area:
Allah is the ultimate source of power. A Muslim s first duty is to submit to God s will, follow the rules, codes of conduct, and
perform the prescribed rituals. For this reason purely ceremonial prescriptions, such as ablutions before prayer, are put on
exactly the same level as commandments of an elevated moral value, such as that of honesty. Missing prayers (namaz),
avoiding Roozeh (fasting) or drinking wine are regarded as sin. Not adhering to Allah s commands in itself is an act of sin.

Logical Fallacies. Logical Fallacies Can Be Found In Many
Logical Fallacies
Logical Fallacies can be found in many forms of persuasions, in infomercials, political debates, common discussion,
everywhere. Although Logical Fallacies are very common, they mar our arguments and should be avoided. In order to avoid
them we must first learn to recognize them. To fully understand Logical Fallacies, we will look at the definition of Logical
Fallacies, some examples of Logical Fallacies, classifications of Logical Fallacies, and finally why we should, and how we
can, avoid them.
In simplest form, Logical Fallacies are fallacious arguments, fallacious meaning logically unsound or misleading. However a

Schmidt s article, On Classifications of Fallacies including the author s own classification system. Although they all attempted
to classify the complicated Logical Fallacies, most of the philosophers presented in On Classifications of Fallacies agreed that
there was no definite way to classify Logical Fallacies. The classification of Logical Fallacies was first tackled in 350 B.C.,
by Greek philosopher Aristotle, and continues to be tackled, as philosophers search for a better way to define them. In general
Logical Fallacies are defined by where the logic goes wrong, however one philosopher, Ronald Munson, attempted to classify
them according to what type of argument they support (Schmidt). No matter the way the classification system is drawn there
is always Fallacies that crossover into multiple categories. Any classification system that eliminates crossovers is too complex
to fulfil the purpose of a classifying, which is to simplify. The classifications found in Schmidt s article On Classifications of
Fallacies, attempt to create formal classification systems, however in our pursuit of understanding Logical Fallacies a simple
working classification will do fine.
The Purdue Owl article, Logical Fallacies, provides a simple classification, Fallacies can be either illegitimate arguments or
irrelevant points (Weber). From my understanding illegitimate argument Logical Fallacies rely on faulty evidence or

Bernard Roth s Rhetorical Analysis Of Reasons Are Bull Shit
The Rhetorical Analysis of Reasons Are Bull Shit
With the use of the Aristotle Rhetorical Triangle, Bernard Roth proves that reasons are bull shit. Now, what is the rhetorical
triangle exactly? The rhetorical triangle is made up of three different parts of persuasion. The first is ethos, which is also
usually known as the author s credibility. The second is pathos, where the author uses emotion or language to grab your
attention. And finally is logos, therefore using logic to persuade. In the chapter, Reasons are Bull Shit of the book The

An Analysis Of Kate Soper s Book The Human
In this analysis, Kate Soper s book The Human In Posthumanism (___) will be studied in regards to Soper s defence for
human exceptionalism between humans and animals. In this text, there is a strong concern for the depletion of the current
ecology and the rise mass consumption, Soper suggests this is due to our current ideologies of what it means to live a rich
lifestyle. The posthumanist notion of a human animal blurring is viewed in this text as a change that needs to be resisted in
order to move forward with the worldly issues at stake. However to do this, Soper suggests there needs to be a sense of self
realisation and self recognition that humans are in fact more exceptional than animals to recognise their [humans] unique
responsibilities for creating and correcting the environmental devastation (pg377)
Humanism of the (___) period viewed science, rationality and reason as the dominant ideology. This idea took more
importance to humans rather than supernatural beings, thus the idea of human exceptionalism was formed. In The Human in
Posthumanism , Soper supports this concept when she states I submit to defend human exceptionalism, and resist blurring the
human animal divide . However, one could say that her framework for thinking about the exceptionalism of humans is not
based off ideologies of the current time period, rather they are based on her wider concerns for the planet. She states,

Helen Keller Metaphor
Helen Keller, who was born on June 27th, 1880 and died June 1st, 1968, was one of the most important people of her time.
She accomplished so much in fields such as literature and politics. The fact that she was able to do so much with her life is
impressive not only in the fact that she was a woman, but more impressive due to the fact that she became blind and deaf at
only eighteen months old. Through the help of Anne Sullivan though, Keller, was able to learn so much. This short story, The
Day Language Came into My Life, is an excerpt from her autobiography, where she recalls her memories from when she first
learned about language. In her story, Keller, uses a unique metaphor to describe what it was like going from no language to
having a language. She does this by comparing herself to a boat in a dense fog with no compass or sounding line, who was
just lost at sea in a tangible darkness, and then the light came into her world. This light that meant so much to Keller was the
love of her teacher, Anne Sullivan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most prominent examples is when she smashes the doll on the ground because she had not loved the doll because
in that world she had not known love. Later in the story though after she has learned of love she goes back to the doll she has
destroyed and for the first time feels sorrow. The doll represents Keller and how before the light comes she is angry and
broken but then after the light she feels more complete, even though the doll doesn t get fixed completely. One other example
is the time when she feels water and learns what it is called, and suddenly feels awakened, hopeful, and even free. All in all,
Helen Keller s use of metaphor is very effective in describing her experience. Through her metaphor she conveys how
language and love come into her life and push out all of the fog and completely change her world for the better, giving her
hope, happiness, and the feeling of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electoral System
The Oxford Dictionary (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2016) defines an election as a formal and organised choice by vote of a
person for a political office or other position . This is the same in all democratic countries, however, no two countries have the
exact same procedure for carrying out elections. There are many ways in which elections can differ from state to state, for
example, does the entire population have the same choice of people to vote for or is the voting based on constituencies, or are
people voting for individuals or a whole party. The variation between them lies within the electoral systems employed in each
of these countries. Electoral systems are simply the rules of elections and how they are conducted. The electoral system
affects the type and level of interaction between politicians and constituents (PR STV and localism in Irish politics, 2011).
In Ireland, since gaining independence in 1922, representatives of Dáil Eireann have been elected by proportional
representation by single transferable vote (Gallagher, 2016). In 1937 it was set out in Bunreacht na hEireann that Dail Eireann
shall be composed of members who represent constituencies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This representation can sometimes mean a member of the Dáil prioritises the good of their own local people instead of what is
best for the state. Candidates in the general election have to make certain promises to their community in the hopes of being
elected and if elected have to do their best to ensure they will be re elected by keeping their supporters content. This may not
seem like such a negative effect at first but it can result in a parliament, weakened by its members lack of focus on national
issues, and thereby unable to fully hold the government to account (PR STV and localism in Irish politics,

Patch Adams Reflection
Patch Adams showcases how holism works and how it benefits the patients mentally and physically. Holism is tying humanity
to the physicality (Kretchmar, 2005) which is the central to Patch s views of being a doctor and how he practices medicine
throughout the film. The way that Patch heals the patients by using laughter as a part of their treatment illustrates the
definition of holism. Patch Adams demonstrates a holistic approach to his practice by displaying holistic ideas which are that
doctors should connect with their patient on a personal level and the idea of treating the person and the disease. To understand
how Patch Adams exhibits holism, it s important to summarize the movie to understand Patch s holistic approach. The movie
is about Hunter Patch Adams journey in medical school after he self committed himself to a mental hospital for his suicide
attempts. While he was at the mental hospital, the doctor didn t take the time to truly pay attention to him or give him actual
treatment which inspired him to become a doctor. At medical school, he immediately disagreed on how the professors were
teaching them in terms of just being technical and regarding themselves about others. He starts visiting the university s
hospital even though he isn t allowed because he was a first year student and starts entertaining the patients. During his
mission, the dean of the university was against his holistic views and tries to expel him but Patch takes him to the court of

Enthalpy Change Lab Report
Applying Calorimetry to Determine the Enthalpy Change for the Dissolution of a Salt
Calorimetry is the measurement of the amount of thermal energy that is released or absorbed in a reaction and is used to
determine enthalpy change. Calorimetry also plays a significant role in daily life as it controls metabolic rates, and maintains
body temperature. (Calorimetry, 2016). Enthalpy change is valid on a daily basis, for example ice melting is an endothermic
reaction. Heat is added to the ice cube, which causes the water molecules to move around faster and for the ice to melt. (Heat
of fusion, 2017). Similarly, the vaporization of water is endothermic because heat is absorbed from the surroundings, allowing
the molecules to vibrate which then increases the space between them. (How atoms and molecules are affected by Heat, n.d.).

Nowadays organisations recognise the importance of satisfying their customers needs and meeting their expectations as the
more complex the customer demand, the more there is need for service. Although services are infused in every organisation s
core, service failure still appears therefore, service recovery strategies are essential in order for the organisations to overcome
the situation. This research intends to study the relation between customer service and organisation.
1.1 Service Nature
Service is an activity which normally takes place by interacting between the service employees and the customer although a
clear definition on services has always been immense to describe. An easy way to understand services is by imagining service
personnel as the actors in a play and the customers as the audients (Lovelock, Vandermerwe, Lewis, 1999). There are two
ways in which services can be defined, such as service being an act of performance and as economic activities providing
consumers with benefits under specific circumstances. The importance of the service sector is obvious as 67% of employees
are directly employed in service jobs while more than half of those already employed in manufacturing companies perform
service function jobs. (Irons, 1997) Services have four key characteristics such as intangibility, inseparability,
variability/heterogeneity and perishability. This key characteristics of services are used to describe the effect and

During the Great Depression entertainment such as movies, music/radio, and dancing provided people with and escape from

In spite of the fact that every component of mise en scene is consolidated with different components to make a particular
climate in each film, concentrating on components of mise en scene independently helps the audience to comprehend the
capacity of every specific component. By concentrating on the setting of a scene, the audience can recognize the careful
significance of the time and place that he is indicated with the goal that he can consider the scene in relationship to the correct
chronicled or social connection. Custom, such as setting, helps the audience comprehend the activity of a scene in connection
to a bigger setting. It additionally permits the filmmaker to create critical character attributes in his characters. By studying
each of these elements as separate entities any enthusiastic student of film can begin to understand the important role that the
manipulation of the elements of mise en scene plays within the entire context of film. And, by studying these elements as

American Rockwell Controversy
In this research paper, I will be discussing the American illustrator Norman Rockwell, comparing his work the Dr. Francis
Schaeffer s criteria for art. I will discuss his technical mastery in the academic principles and the message of his work as it
relates to the major and minor themes. Norman Rockwell was a well known American illustrator during the 1900s. His work
was greatly admired because he idealized the American life around him. While Rockwell himself was not religious, his work,
using great technical skill, communicated a positive message of morality found in America past.
Norman Rockwell was born in the late 1800s to a middle class family in New York. Rockwell s interest in art began when his
father would read novels by Charles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a young age, he chose to study under George Bridgeman and Thomas Fogarty who were considered to be more
traditional, and looked up to artists such as Rembrandt and Brughel. He did intense research for his paintings, and created
backgrounds for his characters and props for his settings. Norman Rockwell had an extensive process to his work, and created
detailed sketches from live models or photographs before he would begin to paint. In the early thirties, he did go to Paris and
attempt dynamic symmetry, but quickly went back to his traditional way of painting. Alden Hatch states that Rockwell brings
to his painting not only great talent, but superb technique and artistic knowledge, bought by years of training and unceasing
study. (Hatch/Rockwell, 9) Ben Sonder states in The Legacy of Norman Rockwell that Rockwell had remarkable eye for
detail, was rigorous in his authenticity in rendering people and things, and possessed the academic trying and technical skills
of a fine artist. (Sonder, 7) Norman Rockwell s work, created with such idealized naturalism, captured the lives and stories of
the American people and emotionally connected with his

Odysseus Is Not A Hero In Homer s The Odyssey
What is a Hero? By definition, a hero is a person or main character of a literary work who, in the face of danger, combats
adversity through impressive feats of ingenuity, bravery or strength, often sacrificing his or her own personal concerns for
some greater good. In Homer s The Odyssey, Odysseus is admired as a hero. However, scholars have been debating the topic
for some time, and some scholars argue that he is not a hero because he is reluctant to leave home, he loses all his men and
cheats on his wife. However, Odysseus is a hero because he possesses all the qualities heroes possess. He overcomes many
hardships on his journey, is smart and courageous, and is concerned with the fate of others.
During his journey, Odysseus faces and conquers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although not willing at first, he did join the Trojan war sacrificing time with his wife and being at home to teach his son to be
a man. At first he pretends to be a mad man, sowing the fields with salt, but is discovered when he stopped before killing son.
Serving in the war ended up costing him 20 years away from his wife and son. Even with the sacrifices, Odysseus went and
lead the Greek army to victory.
However, some scholars argue that he is not a hero because he lost all his men, cheated on his wife and was reluctant to leave
his home to fight. Odysseus does lose all his men, but it is due to divine intervention. He cheats on wife with Circe to save his
men and is reluctant as any soldier would be to leave his home and family. The reasons that scholars argue make Odysseus not
a hero were things beyond his control.
In conclusion, Odysseus is a hero because he conquers adversaries, is brave and ingenious, and makes sacrifices which are the
defining qualities of a hero. Through his fantastic journey, he more than proves himself a hero. Odysseus is somewhat similar
to the war heroes of today. He came home victorious after years of fighting and was welcomed as a hero. Who are the heroes
in your life and how are they similar to

How Burnout Affects Members Of The Human Service Profession
Burnout affects people both personally and professionally regardless of occupation. In recent years the conception of burnout
has been modified, and above all it has begun to be treated as a phenomenon which affects members of many professions not
only those of the human service professions, due to burnout is described as a crisis in one s relationship with work in general
(Chirkowska Smolak Kleka, 2011). Academicians routinely spend many tiring hours reading, writing, lecturing, and solving
countless problems that are sustained by their students and institutions. This level of involvement can be emotionally draining
and coupled with working environments that are often highly stressful has the potential to lead to burnout (Maslach et. al,
2001). This emotional involvement is the primary reason of the increasing rate of burnout among academic staff in an
educational institution depending on the country s working conditions (Akgemci et al., 2013). Feelings of emotional
exhaustion are a key aspect of the burnout syndrome. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They soon realize they can no longer give of themselves as they were able to earlier in their careers. The second aspect of the
burnout syndrome is depersonalization. Here the academicians may develop negative cynical attitudes toward students. They
can convey such attitudes in many ways, including the use of derogatory labels. A third aspect of burnout is the loss of feeling
of accomplishment from the job. This is extremely important in education, since academics enter the profession not for
financial reward, but because they feel they can help students. When they perceive themselves as no longer making a
meaningful contribution through their work, they evaluate themselves negatively (Schwab,

Analysis Of The Novel The Sun Also Rises The Portrayal of Human Relationship in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises Hemingway carried the style and attitude of his short stories into his first great novel The Sun Also Rises (1926). He dedicated this novel to his first wife, Hedley Richardson. The novel divided into three books and which also divided into several chapters. The novel begins in Paris, France, moves to Pamplona, Spain and concludes in Madrid, Spain. The Sun Also Rises portrayed the lives of the members of the Lost Generation. The Lost generation was the group of men and women whose early adulthood was consumed by world war I. the war upset many people s beliefs in traditional values of love, faith and manhood. During the war those who worked in the war suffered great moral and psychological aimlessness. The unsuccessful looking for meaning in the wake of the Great War shapes the novel The Sun Also Rises. Although the characters rarely mention the war directly its effects haunts everything they do and say. Hemingway opens the novel with Gertrude Stein s words, you are the lost generation . It is a line taken from Ecclesiastes in which the title The Sun Also Rises appeared. Hemingway himself was a part that had real motivation or guidance in their lives. The lost generation people were coped with the war through their artistic elements. • 3. The Role Of A Vice President I claim that the role of Vice President of the United States of America is not an essential role in our government. The Vice President was originally picked based on who had the second most votes. The person who had the most votes would become the President. It was quickly realized that this process would no longer. It was most evident after the crisis of 1801, when there was multiple revotes due to constant ties in the votes. Especially in the early years Vice President was looked at as one of the most useless positions ever invented. Vice President John N. Garner even said that is wasn t even worth a pitcher of warm spit. That fact that it is men who have held this position that are ridiculing it really shows how the position is looked at. ... Humans are the only moral agent; in which, it has the intellectual capacity that animals and plants do not have. Thus, humans are powerful and dominate over any species. Another example would be the Foklorama event here in Winnipeg where people represents their countries and shows off their culture by educating people about their culture. Therefore, humans have a moral obligation to preserve endangered species base on communities cultural icons. Every place has a unique species in which it can only be found in those places. Those unique species is a part of which it represents their culture. For instance, a caribou is a cultural icon of Manitoba; Philippine eagle is an endangered species and is the national bird of the Philippines; as well as panda bears for China, koala bears for Australia and others. In addition, people value individual animals simply because of their beauty. As Lill Marlene Russow (2003 p.475) sums up, individual animals can have, to a greater or lesser degree, aesthetic value: they are valued for their simple beauty, for their awesomeness, for their intriguing adaptations, for their rarity, and for many other reasons. We have a moral obligations to protect things of aesthetic value, and to ensure their continued existence. Many people like to travel to different places and admire the beauty of different species. • 6. How Social Science Fields Studied And Interpret The... The first weeks of the course we have tackled the question of how different social science fields studied and interpret the history of Africa. When reading Africanizing Anthropology it gave us an insight of how the field of anthropology was changing the way they conducted studies in order to maximize the information and better interpret it. Many fields of sciences from anthropology to political scientist would analyze Africa through western lenses (Schumaker). This meant they saw Africa as a resource for the west nothing more than that. Thus when reading Africanizing Anthropology we see how much more information they were able to gather just by changing the way they would collect the information. We also see helpers and interpreters being Africans which helped the anthropologist get to villages and towns where they can really gather useful and accurate information. Nonetheless, we can argue that the African interprets and helpers were not given enough credit, yet this is the beginning of change within the social sciences. After analyzing how social scientist gathered and interpreted the continent of Africa we go into the question of modernity within Africa. Before I go into this discussion it is important to define what modernity is. This word has many definitions and can be interpret differently depending where you are. Some may argue that modernity is having a capitalist economy or having a democratic political structure. Modernity is also closely associated with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both species have an interdependent relationship with each other, and in more recent years, tensions have grown about how to foster the relationship. In the twenty first century, animal overpopulation an excess of cats and dogs (Frank 114) has risen to a global issue, and areas of the world such as Shanghai, China are especially affected (Shanghai). • 15. The Crash Of The United States On December 13th, 1982 one of the most memorable plane accidents happened on Fourteenth Street bridge which happens to cross over the Potomac River. On a cold and snowy day just after 4 o clock a 737 Boeing airplane crashed into the river near Washington D.C. The flight was supposed to return to Ft. Lauderdale, however, snow in Washington briefly closed the airport. When the airport reopened, the plane was de iced, but still had difficulties once it got into the air due to the ice. Seventy four passengers and five crew members were on the plane and unfortunately seventy three of them died. When the plane crashes, it struck multiple vehicles and then hit a section of the bridge. On the bridge four people were killed and another four people were injured. The main reason so many perished were due to the extreme cold of the water, the snow storm conditions and the heavy traffic, which prevented firefighters from reaching the site of the crash, and the failures of Air Florida s flight crew. The water temperature in the Potomac at the time was around thirty four degrees Fahrenheit. According to Amanda Ripley s The Unthinkable , humans have a low tolerance for extreme temperatures and cannot spend long periods of time in those ranges. After a certain amount of time heart rates start to lower, blood vessels constrict which causes pain. Blood would begin to abandon extremities to frostbite, choosing to save your heart instead . If a deal is not completed and the U.S. has to take military action to stop the Iranian nuclear program, then the U.S. will have to concentrate on the major characteristics that define the Iranian culture, how those cultures interact in the joint, multinational, and interagency (JIIM) community, how the U.S. will concentrate on these cultures in the planning and execution of company level operations, and how Iran s ... Logical Fallacies Can Be Found In Many Logical Fallacies Logical Fallacies can be found in many forms of persuasions, in infomercials, political debates, common discussion, everywhere. In general Logical Fallacies are defined by where the logic goes wrong, however one philosopher, Ronald Munson, attempted to classify them according to what type of argument they support (Schmidt). No matter the way the classification system is drawn there is always Fallacies that crossover into multiple categories. Any classification system that eliminates crossovers is too complex to fulfil the purpose of a classifying, which is to simplify. In this text, there is a strong concern for the depletion of the current ecology and the rise mass consumption, Soper suggests this is due to our current ideologies of what it means to live a rich lifestyle. The posthumanist notion of a human animal blurring is viewed in this text as a change that needs to be resisted in order to move forward with the worldly issues at stake. She accomplished so much in fields such as literature and politics. The fact that she was able to do so much with her life is impressive not only in the fact that she was a woman, but more impressive due to the fact that she became blind and deaf at only eighteen months old. Through the help of Anne Sullivan though, Keller, was able to learn so much. This short story, The Day Language Came into My Life, is an excerpt from her autobiography, where she recalls her memories from when she first learned about language. In her story, Keller, uses a unique metaphor to describe what it was like going from no language to having a language. She does this by comparing herself to a boat in a dense fog with no compass or sounding line, who was just lost at sea in a tangible darkness, and then the light came into her world. • 23. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electoral System The Oxford Dictionary (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2016) defines an election as a formal and organised choice by vote of a person for a political office or other position . This is the same in all democratic countries, however, no two countries have the exact same procedure for carrying out elections. There are many ways in which elections can differ from state to state, for example, does the entire population have the same choice of people to vote for or is the voting based on constituencies, or are people voting for individuals or a whole party. The variation between them lies within the electoral systems employed in each of these countries. Electoral systems are simply the rules of elections and how they are conducted. The electoral system affects the type and level of interaction between politicians and constituents (PR STV and localism in Irish politics, 2011). In Ireland, since gaining independence in 1922, representatives of Dáil Eireann have been elected by proportional representation by single transferable vote (Gallagher, 2016). Enthalpy Change Lab Report Applying Calorimetry to Determine the Enthalpy Change for the Dissolution of a Salt Calorimetry is the measurement of the amount of thermal energy that is released or absorbed in a reaction and is used to determine enthalpy change. Calorimetry also plays a significant role in daily life as it controls metabolic rates, and maintains body temperature. (Calorimetry, 2016). Enthalpy change is valid on a daily basis, for example ice melting is an endothermic reaction. Heat is added to the ice cube, which causes the water molecules to move around faster and for the ice to melt. (Heat of fusion, 2017). This research intends to study the relation between customer service and organisation. 1.1 Service Nature Service is an activity which normally takes place by interacting between the service employees and the customer although a clear definition on services has always been immense to describe. An easy way to understand services is by imagining service personnel as the actors in a play and the customers as the audients (Lovelock, Vandermerwe, Lewis, 1999). There are two ways in which services can be defined, such as service being an act of performance and as economic activities providing consumers with benefits under specific circumstances. The importance of the service sector is obvious as 67% of employees are directly employed in service jobs while more than half of those already employed in manufacturing companies perform service function jobs. (Irons, 1997) Services have four key characteristics such as intangibility, inseparability, variability/heterogeneity and perishability.
