Funding Higher Education For Universities
Introduction In the world of higher education today, many universities are facing tight budgets.
Funding higher education has become a major issue for institutions across the nation for various
reasons. University endowments are not what they use to be before the financial crisis in 2008
(Weisbrod Asch, 2010). State appropriations to universities are down and are not as much as they once
were in the past. With a decline in state appropriations, public institutions have been forced to rely
more on tuition revenue. Universities are now competing more than ever with each other to get
students to attend their institution so that they can receive their tuition revenue. As tuition increases,
there becomes an increase for a need of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Separately we are weak, but together we are strong. Ultimately, due to a plethora of reasons, higher
education funding has become difficult and resulted in higher tuition for students and to combat this
issue, university and business partnerships need to be created and become a major goal which will
yield benefits for both parties involved.
University Funding Issues Funding colleges and universities has become a crisis for the higher
education system in America. The higher education funding issue is not caused by one issue but rather
multiple issues like endowment losses, falling investments, declining donations, declining state
appropriations, and increased student financial aid which leads to a decreased tuition revenue
(Weisbrod Asch, 2010). Some of these funding issues create other funding issues like an increase in
tuition revenue that creates an increase in student financial aid and then decreases the tuition revenue
resulting in lower funds for the institution. Since the economic downturn in 2007 and 2008 and even
before then, there has been a decline in state appropriations to public colleges and universities
(Weisbrod Asch, 2010). Colleges and universities believe that lawmakers have lost faith and do not
believe in them, which have resulted in the significant and constant loss of state appropriations to
higher education (Longanecker, 2006).

Lake Chad Research Paper
There are many factors that influence agricultural yields: Water Scarcity: Water is essential to the
growth of crops, lack of water would drastically lower the amount of agricultural yields. Lake Chad,
pictured on the side, is on the border of four countries and is a huge water source. However, over the
past 40 years, this lake has been shrunk to 1/20 of its size. Due to Chad being a land locked country, it
is dependent on this lake for water. The disappearance of Lake Chad has decreased food production as
many crops are suffering from dehydration. The inevitable future can be predicted, if the drought and
overconsumption of water continues to occur, Lake Chad will soon completely disappear leaving four
countries high and dry. Technology and

Educational Education And Special Education
According to the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities, 89% of children with moderate
learning difficulties, 24% of children with severe learning difficulties and 18% of children with
profound multiple learning difficulties are educated in mainstream schools. Something so prevalent
must surely be effective. However, that is not always the case. It s disheartening watching these
mainstreamed students struggle socially and academically. Either looked over or coddled by general
education teachers; teachers without the proper training, no less, expected to properly instruct these
students with intellectual disabilities. Kids that are always expected too much of or doubted
indefinitely. These are the children that don t belong in a general education classroom. While
mainstreaming, the act of blending general education and special education classes, can possess
benefits for both general education and special education pupils, it should not be implemented in
school systems as it creates a more disruptive environment that campaigns for inhibited learning. But
that s only the inauguration of the series of issues present here. The concept of mainstreaming is based
on the fact that a student with disabilities may benefit both socially and academically from being
assigned to a general education classroom rather than a special education classroom (Perles). A
mainstreamed student may have slight adjustments in how they are assessed, but they learn mostly the
same material and

Constellations
Constellation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In modern astronomy, a constellation is an internationally defined area of the celestial sphere. These
areas are grouped around asterisms (which themselves are generally referred to in non technical
language as constellations ), which are patterns formed by prominent stars within apparent proximity
to one another on Earth s night sky. There are 88 standard constellations recognized by the
International Astronomical Union (IAU) since 1922. The majority of these go back to the 48
constellations defined by Ptolemy in his Almagest (2nd century). The remaining ones were defined in
the 17th and 18th century; the most recent ones are found on the southern sky, defined in Coelum

Jessica Lunsford Murder Case Essay
Lunsford Murder Case
Jessica Lunsford was a nine year old girl who was abducted from her grandmother s house, taken right
from her own bedroom on February 24, 2005. There was little sign of a struggle in the child s room,
the only things that were missing were her stuffed animals that her father won for her from a county
fair. The last time that the grandmother, Ruth Lunsford, last saw her granddaughter when she put her
to bed the night before and hadn t noticed anything.
The abductor and murderer of Jessica Lunsford would eventually be found and he would lead the
police to the place where he had buried the child.

Focusing on the child s room they would photograph the entire area of the crime scene and once done
begin processing it. The first area of focus would be where the child was, they would look to find any
blood or torn fabric that would indicated she was struck in her sleep to try to keep her from waking up
and reacting. If blood evidence was found it would the whole object would be let to dry then packaged
in a paper bag, and the paper bag slapped with an evidence tag and filled out with all of the pertinent
information for the case. Next the place where the stuffed animals were would be examined and
dusted for finger prints, the kidnapper may have left some when they were taking the stuffed animals.
If any were found they would also be photographed scaled and evidence tagged, before being lifted
and placed on evidence cards with the information filled out in full. If any torn fabric or other trace
evidence is found at the crime scene it will be photographed, scaled, and evidence tagged, being
photographed on each step and then it would be collected and placed in a small manila envelope and
evidence tagged and filled out. All evidence will be later submitted to the crime lab for processing and

Analysis Of The Book The Crucible By Dawson Cole And...
In small town of Oriental, Dawson Cole and Amanda Collier become the high school sweethearts that
everyone wanted to be, but no one, including their parents wanted them to be be together. It was bad
for the reputation of the family. After several years the finally meet again and the rekindle, or tried to,
that old spark that used to be there. Who knew that death could bring a couple back together.
PAGE 18 19
I think this part is important because this is where their lives changed forever. Amanda got into her
dream college and her parents would disown her because she is dating Dawson. This wouldn t be so
bad, but Dawson is a Cole, the bad family in town, they always causes trouble, but Dawson never did.
Amanda is a Collier, which is one of the more upper class families in town, and like all small towns
new travels fast and this new could ruin the reputation of the two families, mostly Amanda s, no one
wants to ruin the last name. Dawson wants the world for Amanda and he knew he couldn t give that to
her and still be in a relationship with her, he would only bring her down. During this scene one of my
favourite quotes were said;
Dawson: If you love someone you re suppose to let them go, right?
Amanda: And if they come back it is meant to be? Is that what you think this is? Some sort of cliche?
That little encounter is important because after that she went away for college and made a new life for
herself, trying to forgot the one person she will ever truly love

Big Dig Research Paper
The Central Artery/Tunnel Project, also known as the Big Dig, is one of the most expensive,
technically challenging, and largest public projects in American history. The Big Dig was a super
project that was created to reroute the Central Artery of Interstate 93, the main roadway through the
core of the city, into the 1.5 mile Thomas P. O Neill Jr. Tunnel. The construction of the Big Dig
untangled the co mingled traffic in Boston, Massachusetts and resulted in a 62% decrease in vehicle
hours of travel and reduced the afternoon peak hour by a massive 85.6%.
The highway planning of the Big Dig started in 1982 with the actual construction starting in 1991. The
Big Dig was initially planned to be finalized in 1998 with the estimated total cost of 2.8 billion (7.8
billion adjusted for inflation to today s dollar value) but due to cost overruns, design flaws, criminal
arrests and even one death the construction of the highway was delayed. After all the delays, the Big
Dig was finally completed in 2007 at a cost of 8.08 billion (20.5 billion in today s dollar value). After

The Scarlet Letter And The House Of Seven Gables
On July 4, 1805, while most people were celebrating Independence Day, one of the greatest influential
writers of the Dark Romanticism Era was born. Elizabeth Clark Hathorne and her husband Nathaniel
Hathorne Sr. gave birth to a baby boy. Little did they know, this little infant would develop into one of
America s most famous authors of all time. Most Americans are familiar with his greatest works like
The Scarlet Letter and The House of Seven Gables. Through the influence of his past ancestors, his
dark childhood, his college experience, and his fellow author friends, Nathaniel Hathorne (Hawthorne)
is one of the most renowned authors of the Romanticism period which took place during the late
1800s.
Nathaniel Hathorne was born into the family of William Hathorne. William was one of the magistrates
who sentenced the Quaker women to death during the Salem Witch Trials He was born into a family
with a very strong Puritan heritage. As he grew up, he was ashamed to be related to the Hathorne
bloodline of William Hathorne. He was, as Hawthorne later characterized him, a bitter persecutor of
Quakers. In particular, was solely responsible for ordering the whipping of Ann Coleman. Hawthorne
refers to this ancestor as a persecutor of Quakers. Due to this, he eventually changed his last name by
adding a W to it. He did this in an attempt to conceal his relation to William. His heritage affects him
majorly throughout his entire life (Bloom 11; Nathaniel Hawthorne Web).

Economic Significance Of Renewable Energy Policy
ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY POLICY IN INDIA: A CASE STUDY
OF GUJARAT S SOLAR POLICY
I. Introduction
The transition to a greener energy regime in India is driven by both external factors, like energy
prices, market developments, political culture and the emphasis on climate change, as well as by
internal factors like the goal to achieve long term energy security and the need for enhancing access to
energy. The early emphasis on renewable energy in India was primarily on the wake of energy security
concerns mooted during the global oil crisis around 1970s. Commission of Additional Sources of
Energy (CASE) in 1981 was set up by Government of India (GoI) as one of the early response to such
a crisis. CASE was transformed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is argued that policy reforms initiated during the past two decades have transformed India s energy
sector from a predominantly government owned system to a system largely driven by market
elements. This is also evident in the case of renewable energy where the Ministry of New and
Renewable Energy (MNRE) identifies the development of renewable energy in India across various
phases: 1970s as research phase, 1980s as demonstration phase and 1990s onwards as
commercialization phase with greater participation of private sector entities.
The renewable sources of power in India still constitute a small portion of the entire power production
of the country, with the total installed capacity of 32,000 MW (which is about 12% of the total
installed capacity). Out of the total installed capacity, solar energy constitutes about 10 % (3200 MW).
The solar potential of the country is huge. It is estimated that about 12.5 % of India s landmass, which
is about 413,000 square kilometers, can be exploited to harness solar energy. The country on an
average enjoys 300 sunny days with an average hourly solar radiation of about 200 MW/square
kilometer. The major recent initiative in the solar space is the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar
Mission (JNNSM) launched in 2010 by the Central

Statement Of Ethical Standards For Employees
STATEMENT OF ETHICAL STANDARDS FOR
BOARD MEMBERS, OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS
BACKGROUND
Officers, Directors and Members of the Board of Directors are responsible for upholding a public
trust. We are called to a higher standard of stewardship in order to meet the special privileges that our
tax exempt status allows. Actions of Board Members, Officers and Directors should meet or exceed
these higher standards rather than only minimally satisfy the requirements of tax exempt status. Areas
of behavior to be avoided include personal conflicts of interest by Board Members, Officers, and
Directors, questionable investments, improper use of funds raised (especially for personal inurement),
expensive and inefficient fundraising practices, failure to meet legal requirements and similar
offenses.
The Board Members, Officers and Directors of Sinai Free Synagogue (hereinafter, the Corporation )
have adopted the following policy designed to avoid any possible conflict between the personal
interests of Board Members, Officers and Directors and the interests of the Corporation. The purpose
of this policy is to ensure that decisions about the operations of the Corporation and the use and
disposition of the Corporation assets are made solely in terms of benefit to the Corporation and are not

Effects Of Self Congruity And Multifactorial Gender...
The Effects Self Congruity and Multifactorial Gender Identity in Advertising
Market segmentation is a process that is used to make the selling of goods or services more efficient
and profitable. By dividing a large and diverse population into smaller groups, marketers can craft
persuasive messages designed to target a specific audience. Examples of these categorizations are age,
race, socio economic status, geographic location, occupation, and gender. These demographic
distinctions inform every part of the marketing process, from product conception and design all the
way to advertising message content. In addition, this process also aids the consumer in making
purchasing decisions. Because living in a society driven by consumerism requires seemingly constant
deliberation between various goods and services, the categorization of products in this manner can
decrease cognitive load and speed up the decision making process (Sandhu, 2016).
However, this market segmentation process has social and cultural consequences. While marketers can
use this technique to successfully identify inter group differences that can then be strategically
addressed, it may also exaggerate, exacerbate, and even create differences that can be unnecessarily
divisive at best and in some cases cause severe harm. One example of this is the construction of
gender differences to create demand where it wouldn t exist otherwise. Identical objects and their
packaging are given different colors, shapes,

Classical Music Vs. Modern Music
A loose expression for European and American music, of the more serious kind, as opposed to popular
folk music, is the Classical Music definition according to the New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy
(Houghton Mifflin Company). It appears that finding a common description for a musical
phenomenon, that s been around since the Medieval Period, is much easier said than done. I must
admit that prior to taking this course, I fell victim to assuming all classical music is dense and
contained very little diversity. However, after understanding and applying fresh knowledge of the
subject, I began to see differences. During my research, I partially expected to find that classical music
is unpopular and that society has great disinterest in any form of it. I also expected to find that
millennials and baby boomers would have opposite views on whether classical music is archaic and
decaying. The quick poll I conducted revealed eight out of ten people said classical music isn t dead
and six of those eight were millennials. Fortunately, I was surprised by some of the evidence I
encountered. By the very definition, classical music can be broad and versatile. It is hardly logical to
assume that something so old cannon evolve over time. First, I will address the notions that classical
music is deceased, or at least, on its last legs. Symphony orchestra attendance is on a decline in the
United States. CNN s Charlie Albright reported that in 2012, 8.8% of Americans went to a musical

The Crime Of Jamaican Crime
Jake Schommer
Mrs. Ribar
English 11
7 November, 2016
Jamaican Crime Every country in the world has their own issues that they have to deal with. Jamaica
is a strong example of this. Their biggest problem that they face is easily the crime issues. There is
really nothing in jamaica that brings in wealth. This is a big problem as there is no businesses so
everyone is pretty much poor besides a few parts of the island where the rich live. In jamaica it doesn t
matter where you are crimes happens everywhere, as for here in the U.S, usually most crimes happen
in the run down places, not in the nice areas of rich people. A big problem is there isn t enough law
and order to stop all of these crimes that are taking place. There is not enough money to pay all of the
policemen. So as these criminals are out killing, they are trying to figure out how to fix it. We all need
to worry about what is going on here. Crime in Jamaica is terrible, with all of the drug trafficking to
robbery or theft, although it is improving , Jamaica still has one of the highest crime rates in the world,
and it doesn t matter where in Jamaica a person is, crime happens everywhere, it doesn t help that
Jamaica is located in the Caribbean where a lot of the drugs in the cartel is dispersed, as people fight
and kill for those horribly addictive drugs that are ruining the island of Jamaica. There are plenty of
reasons why Jamaica is so filled with crime. There are drugs everywhere, as it is located in

What Is Office Depot s Gross Profit Margin
Gross profit margin reflects the amount of revenue from sales that is left for profit and to pay other
expenses after the cost of the goods sold is subtracted. This margin is roughly equivalent to the
markup on a product and reflects the amount over cost the company is able to charge. Firms in retail
can usually increase their gross profit margin if they can differentiate themselves from their
competitors and charge a higher price for roughly equivalent products. Staples has pulled ahead of
Office Depot in recent years, mostly owing to a drop in Office Depot s margin from roughly 30% to
about 24%. This drop is significant because that means less money from sales is flowing through the
company to cover operating and other expenses, and contributed to problems such as those discussed
with the times interest earned ratio. Staples, while facing slight declines in its margin, has been able to

The operating profit margin is this amount as a percentage of total gross sales. This is where Office
Depot s problems, as well as some of Staples become apparent. For Staples, there is wide variation in
this margin from year to year, whereas their gross profit margin had relatively small variation. This
signifies that Staples likely has less control of its expenses that are incurred in the operating section.
An improvement in controlling these expenses could not only improve the bottom line, but also make
the company s earnings more predictable from year to year. Staples still fares comparatively well here
when compared to Office Depot, who is already losing money before interest and income taxes are
subtracted. It is interesting that, despite its many advantages in most functional areas, Amazon lags
behind Staples here. This may indicate that a certain competency exists here for Staples to

Who Is Bonnie And Clyde A Victim Of Crime
In the early nineteen hundreds, crime was a big problem. There were several criminals on the loose.
Such as Pretty boy Floyde, Baby face Nelson, Al Capone, Machine gun Kelly, and so on. But in the
South there was a couple that rampaged through Texas. They were Bonnie and Clyde and they were
the fear of the public in the South. They robbed, kidnapped and murdered. This is Bonnie and Clyde.
Clyde Barrow was born in Telico, Texas in the year 1910. Clyde s family moved to Dallas in the
1920s. They were very poor and lived in a slum where crime was rampant. Clyde got into trouble right
away. His first arrest was when he didn t return a rental car on time. His second arrest was for stealing

got caught and extradited to Texas. While in jail, he received a fourteen year prison sentence for hard
labor. Clyde got transferred to Eastham prison. In 1932 of February, Clyde got paroled and his family
and friends said he wasn t the same guy when he came out. It was claimed that Clyde was beaten
regularly while he was in prison and it made him hate the Eastham prison. According to some people
it was said Clyde didn t care about the money, he wanted revenge on the Texas prison system for how
he was treated. One month later, Bonnie and Clyde made a gang consisting of Bonnie and Clyde, Ray
Hamilton, WD Jones, Henry Methvin, Buck Barrow, and his wife Blanche Barrow.
With their gang, Bonnie and Clyde began many robberies with the goal of getting enough money and
guns to launch a jailbreak at Eastham prison to get Clyde s revenge. Bonnie and Fults got caught in a
hardware store robbery in Texas and they got sent to jail. Bonnie got out of jail for saying she was
kidnapped and had to rob the hardware store. In two weeks Bonnie and Clyde were together and on
the run again. On August of 1932, Clyde and his gang had been drinking which was illegal back then.

The film The other sister follows a mildly mentally disabled girl in her life after getting out of a

are displayed. Upon Carla getting out of her special school and coming home she must overcome the
difficulties of having an overbearing authoritarian mother. She thinks she is wrong when her mother is
trying to make decisions for her own good. An example of this is seen when Carla s mother changes
her room while she is away. Despite becoming a woman, she still wants her stuff from her younger

The Most Popular Means Of Public And Cheapest Transport...
I was born and raised in the Philippines. In 2014, we moved into the United States. My friends usually
ask me, How s it living in America compared here in the Philippines? . Moving to another country was
a huge, scary, life changing leap. People will leave behind everything they have developed to know,
and begin to grow into new cultures and traditions. Some of the things I observed that differs between
Filipinos and Americans were about celebrations, means of transportation and general things of
culture. In the Philippines, the most popular means of public and cheapest transport for people, goods
and even sometimes little animals are Jeepneys. Most of the time, jeepneys are always overloaded and
some passengers are hanging on the back or even at the top of the vehicle; nevertheless hanging in the
jeepney isn t allowed in large cities. For budget travelers, Jeepneys are one of the best and most
comfortable transport options. There are also Padyak in local distances, where the rider sits in a
sidecar, beside the bicycle, rather than behind it. The Filipino padyak is similar to rickshaws and

Disobedience In The 1967 Film Cool Hand Luke
Mahatmas Ghandi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the South Africans all have used disobedience in
order to change an unjust norm or law(s). The most common form of disobedience which have been
used in history is to simply not obey the officials of higher authority and protest in order to get the
point across. These protests have been successful because of the mass numbers of supporters but also
because they set out to change an unjust rule or norms. In the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke featuring
Paul Newman, Lucas (Luke) has been sent to jail for beheading parking meters while intoxicated.
During his time in jail, he disobeys both the de facto inmate leader and the wardens simply because he
did not like to conform to their rules. Luke s, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This admiration further fuels his desires to break the norm and authority and it is shown when he
blindly decides to accept a bet where he has to eat fifty hard boiled eggs. His success ensured that
Luke has become the new de facto leader and even Dragline respects his actions and authority. With
this newfound position, the wardens and officers do not seem pleased; they view his success as a
threat to their power and authority. His rise in power and his desire for disobedience lacks one critical
point that he fails to see throughout the film: a just objective. He breaks the norm in jail so simply
fulfill his thirst to be different and not what he seems unjust and unfair. As a prisoner, he has lost most
of his rights as an American citizen and he has to be punished as a result. His treatment seems fair; he
received three meals, recreation time, visiting hours and care there was no evidence of mistreatment or
unfair conditions. This first two attempts to escape showed that he performed those actions just to
demonstrate his ability to escape and hold on to his newfound power and glory. They do not, however,
help him realize all the reasons to behave well and obey authority in jail in order to fully appreciate all
the benefits of freedom once his term was over. Instead, it reassured the inmates that Luke has become
the leader and he will continue to break the law as he pleased. The apex of his vanity occurs when he
mails a magazine to the

Differences Between Good And Evil In A Good Man Is Hard To...
Flannery O Connor s short story, A Good Man Is Hard to Find, focuses on the contrast between good
and evil. Through the characterization of the Grandmother and The Misfit, O Connor reveals that in
reality there are no drastic differences between the two, only that one has already come to accept his
fate and the other is still blinded by her own selfish ways. From the beginning, the true nature of the
Grandmother begins to unfold. It is evident that she will say just about anything to get her way, only
she ll do it in a manner that illustrates her as one whose sole purpose is to look out for her family, See
here...this fellow that calls himself the misfit is aloose from the Federal Pen and headed toward
Florida... I wouldn t take my children in any direction with a criminal aloose like that... I couldn t
answer to my own conscience if I did. (117) O Connor s use of the word conscience leads the reader to
believe that the Grandmother has good morals and values, but upon further investigation it s evident
that this good only runs so deep. At first glance, this moment can be perceived as one filled with
sincere fear on the grandmothers part, however, the chances of the family actually running into a loose
criminal on a family road trip is one in a million. Which leads to the conclusion that the Grandmothers
sole intention is to scare her son into submission, so that she may go to Tennessee to visit her old
friends. Nearing the end of the family s life, the Grandmother s

What Is Black Beauty Essay
Black Beauty is a book written by a British female author named Anna Sewell. It tells a story of a
horse called black beauty from its own perspective. Once upon a time there was a horse which is black
but with a white star on his forehead. He looked so smart and his master nicknamed him Black Beauty
. Black Beauty was well built, clever and tender. He experienced many ups and downs in his life, and
had many friends, including horses and people. He was ever well reared but he was also treated badly
even tortured nearly to death. When he came to the end of his life, he happened to return to his first
master and spend his rest of life peacefully.

What is the most important I have learned from this book is that common sense and kindness make a
better world.
Common sense is of great importance in our life, anywhere and anytime. It is unquestionable. For
example, in this book, the so called common sense mainly means the knowledge about how to take
good care of a horse. In other fields, common sense is also needed. Without common sense, we cannot
handle things in a proper and correct way, or lead a good life. A story in this book impresses me a lot.
Once a boy was made to clean the horse black beauty . However, the guy was green handed and he
cleaned it with cold water, not knowing the harm of it; as a result, the horse got ill seriously. It proves
that common sense is necessary. We need common sense. But here comes a question: what on earth is
common sense? Maybe many people will give the answer that something which is known by most
people is common sense. I think it is wrong as many things taken for granted often are found wrong in
the end, such as the tradition of women s being in confinement after giving birth to a child,

Racism In Angie Thomas s The Hate U Give
Angie Thomas novel The Hate U Give is the story of a teenage girl facing racism in the world around
her. Starr Carter lives in Garden Heights, a neighborhood filled with gangs, when one of her best
friends Khalil is shot by the police, she is quick to know he had been killed because of the racism that
exists in our world. Throughout the novel, Starr is constantly trying to show the world why Khalil died
in order to get justice for his death. She does not believe he deserved to die or the cop who shot Khalil
deserves to walk free of the crime he committed. Through different characters, the author is able to
convey the message of one should not form opinions on someone or something based on stereotypes.
Throughout the novel, some characters struggle with judging people before they know their past.
Angie Thomas is able to get this across to readers not only through Starr, but also characters such as
her father Maverick, her friends from school, and even Officer Cruise, the officer who killed Khalil.
Stereotypes in the novel are one of the main causes for Khalil s death. The officer had killed Khalil
because he had automatically assumed Khalil was a threat to him. Officer Cruise treated both Khalil
and Starr with disrespect at the time of the arrest because they are African American. When Khalil
began to move in order to ask Starr if she was okay, the Officer assumed he was reaching for a
weapon because he had already formed an opinion about Khalil based on his skin color even

Why Should The Color Purple Be Banned Essay
The book A Color Purple is regularly challenged because those in power cannot handle the past. They
seem to forget that books are subjective. Some teenagers read more mature books than people thrice
their age. Even if it is a mature read there is something to learn from all books. No books should be
completely banned from any town, province, or country. A book is like music. Some enjoy the loud
crashes of war with a rhythm of gripping tension. Others take in the sweet strums of sappy love, a
heartfelt keel to the perfect love story. What I am trying to say here is that music, much like books, is
subjective. There would only be one genre of music if we all enjoyed the same slow waltz. This is the
same with books. A country singer who only reads hunting books and gun magazines is not going to
enjoy a book based on a semi illiterate, small town, black lesbian from the early 1900 s life, and that s
okay. Such a story may be considered scandalous to this back road trucker. Yet that is still not an
excuse to ban the throaty song that is A Color Purple because you enjoy slapstick comedy. There are
other people out there who would enjoy such a book and your banning is only making it harder for
them to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A book labelled mature only means that adult situations take place, which teenagers can handle. A
friend of mine is extremely interested in mature reads that she finds on certain websites. My father, at
the age of fifty five no less, simply adores dumb comedies. These two don t communicate, much less
about their reading habits, but that does not mean one of their preferences are wrong. It is more of a
difference in their brains make up that . . . make up their differences. So the forcing of literature one
doesn t prefer down their throat is a bad practice and banning books is part of such practice. Stop the
banning of literature because one person or group does not savor such a

Stealing Should Have Taught You Essay
When you were younger, your parents tried to teach you or should have tried to teach you that stealing
is wrong and could get you in trouble. The definition of stealing, according to Webster s dictionary, is
to take another person s property without permission or legal right without intending to return it.
Another thing parents should have taught you is the lesson on losing thing. Don t misplace that, you
might need it later! or Don t forget where that whatever it was is! and hopefully you learned! The
definition of losing, this also according to Webster s dictionary, is to be unable to find. What happens
when you mix the two? See, to this day, I don t count it as stealing. I swear I had the intention to
return the book! I would never steal anything, especially not from a teacher. I wasn t that immature,

Essentially the self is believed to dissociate or split into separate and distinct personalities in an effort
to repress the pain and suffering from some traumatic event. The diagnosis of DID is often associated
with a history of significant traumatization, usually in childhood. DID clients have a higher rate of
early childhood trauma than any other clinical group (Putnam et al., 1986). Severe, repetitive trauma
can produce extreme states of experiences in children and can result in the development of discrete
personified behavioral states (Putnam et al., 1986). Despite skepticism there has been considerable
clinical recognition of dissociative conditions in the last several years resulting in significant progress
in the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of dissociative disorders and DID. DID and dissociative
disorders are not rare conditions. Clinical literature including case reports, treatment outcome studies,
as well as studies of psychophysiology, neurobiology, and neuroimaging have been collected from
numerous countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Israel, Japan, the
Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, and the

Math Experience In My Life
At an early age, I was bad at math, yet I knew it would be my passion. Throughout elementary school,
I gave into the idea that I lacked intelligence enough to pursue mathematics seriously in school, and
later on in my life. Nonetheless, math found itself back into my life during my middle school years
and solidified its presence within my life.
I was the dumb kid in class, unable to add and subtract, unable to memorize the multiplication table.
Before, I found joy in knowing. To this date I remember what seemed like witchcraft as my father, on
one of his rare visits home from work, showing me how squares worked when I was five. The
Japanese education system in my first and second grade placed value in the ability to memorize rules
and tables. The better one was at memorization, which felt to me the mindless recounting of
multiplication and division and the ability to just know the answer, was needed for success. I wanted
to know why the number four was four. What it really meant. What does it mean that there are two
less from six? Why were Eight things divided by two equal the same as the square of two? I was
interested in the hows and the whys of numbers, not just its identity. For this reason, I was not deemed
successful and was not seen as a student with prospects. Despite my seeming lack of talent in the
mathematical field, I knew, I knew somehow that math was my passion. I was successful in the math
classes in the elementary school in America. All that was required of

Camus through Meursault; our main character. The piece designed portrays the emptiness that
Meursault feels when he faces ultimate doom, the expectation of a revelation is soon met with the
harsh reality he knew to be true from the beginning. Curiosity is a fundamental human emotion, the

  • 2. Funding Higher Education For Universities Introduction In the world of higher education today, many universities are facing tight budgets. Funding higher education has become a major issue for institutions across the nation for various reasons. University endowments are not what they use to be before the financial crisis in 2008 (Weisbrod Asch, 2010). State appropriations to universities are down and are not as much as they once were in the past. With a decline in state appropriations, public institutions have been forced to rely more on tuition revenue. Universities are now competing more than ever with each other to get students to attend their institution so that they can receive their tuition revenue. As tuition increases, there becomes an increase for a need of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Separately we are weak, but together we are strong. Ultimately, due to a plethora of reasons, higher education funding has become difficult and resulted in higher tuition for students and to combat this issue, university and business partnerships need to be created and become a major goal which will yield benefits for both parties involved. University Funding Issues Funding colleges and universities has become a crisis for the higher education system in America. The higher education funding issue is not caused by one issue but rather multiple issues like endowment losses, falling investments, declining donations, declining state appropriations, and increased student financial aid which leads to a decreased tuition revenue (Weisbrod Asch, 2010). Some of these funding issues create other funding issues like an increase in tuition revenue that creates an increase in student financial aid and then decreases the tuition revenue resulting in lower funds for the institution. Since the economic downturn in 2007 and 2008 and even before then, there has been a decline in state appropriations to public colleges and universities (Weisbrod Asch, 2010). Colleges and universities believe that lawmakers have lost faith and do not believe in them, which have resulted in the significant and constant loss of state appropriations to higher education (Longanecker, 2006). ... • 3. Lake Chad Research Paper There are many factors that influence agricultural yields: Water Scarcity: Water is essential to the growth of crops, lack of water would drastically lower the amount of agricultural yields. Lake Chad, pictured on the side, is on the border of four countries and is a huge water source. However, over the past 40 years, this lake has been shrunk to 1/20 of its size. Due to Chad being a land locked country, it is dependent on this lake for water. The disappearance of Lake Chad has decreased food production as many crops are suffering from dehydration. The inevitable future can be predicted, if the drought and overconsumption of water continues to occur, Lake Chad will soon completely disappear leaving four countries high and dry. • 4. Educational Education And Special Education According to the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities, 89% of children with moderate learning difficulties, 24% of children with severe learning difficulties and 18% of children with profound multiple learning difficulties are educated in mainstream schools. Something so prevalent must surely be effective. However, that is not always the case. It s disheartening watching these mainstreamed students struggle socially and academically. Either looked over or coddled by general education teachers; teachers without the proper training, no less, expected to properly instruct these students with intellectual disabilities. Kids that are always expected too much of or doubted indefinitely. These are the children that don t belong in a general education classroom. While mainstreaming, the act of blending general education and special education classes, can possess benefits for both general education and special education pupils, it should not be implemented in school systems as it creates a more disruptive environment that campaigns for inhibited learning. But that s only the inauguration of the series of issues present here. The concept of mainstreaming is based on the fact that a student with disabilities may benefit both socially and academically from being assigned to a general education classroom rather than a special education classroom (Perles). A mainstreamed student may have slight adjustments in how they are assessed, but they learn mostly the same material and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These areas are grouped around asterisms (which themselves are generally referred to in non technical language as constellations ), which are patterns formed by prominent stars within apparent proximity to one another on Earth s night sky. There are 88 standard constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) since 1922. The majority of these go back to the 48 constellations defined by Ptolemy in his Almagest (2nd century). In small town of Oriental, Dawson Cole and Amanda Collier become the high school sweethearts that everyone wanted to be, but no one, including their parents wanted them to be be together. It was bad for the reputation of the family. After several years the finally meet again and the rekindle, or tried to, that old spark that used to be there. Who knew that death could bring a couple back together. PAGE 18 19 I think this part is important because this is where their lives changed forever. Amanda got into her dream college and her parents would disown her because she is dating Dawson. This wouldn t be so bad, but Dawson is a Cole, the bad family in town, they always causes trouble, but Dawson never did. Amanda is a Collier, which is one of the more upper class families in town, and like all small towns new travels fast and this new could ruin the reputation of the two families, mostly Amanda s, no one wants to ruin the last name. Dawson wants the world for Amanda and he knew he couldn t give that to her and still be in a relationship with her, he would only bring her down. During this scene one of my favourite quotes were said; Dawson: If you love someone you re suppose to let them go, right? Amanda: And if they come back it is meant to be? The Big Dig was a super project that was created to reroute the Central Artery of Interstate 93, the main roadway through the core of the city, into the 1.5 mile Thomas P. O Neill Jr. Tunnel. The construction of the Big Dig untangled the co mingled traffic in Boston, Massachusetts and resulted in a 62% decrease in vehicle hours of travel and reduced the afternoon peak hour by a massive 85.6%. The highway planning of the Big Dig started in 1982 with the actual construction starting in 1991. The Big Dig was initially planned to be finalized in 1998 with the estimated total cost of 2.8 billion (7.8 billion adjusted for inflation to today s dollar value) but due to cost overruns, design flaws, criminal arrests and even one death the construction of the highway was delayed. • 9. The Scarlet Letter And The House Of Seven Gables On July 4, 1805, while most people were celebrating Independence Day, one of the greatest influential writers of the Dark Romanticism Era was born. Elizabeth Clark Hathorne and her husband Nathaniel Hathorne Sr. gave birth to a baby boy. Little did they know, this little infant would develop into one of America s most famous authors of all time. Most Americans are familiar with his greatest works like The Scarlet Letter and The House of Seven Gables. Through the influence of his past ancestors, his dark childhood, his college experience, and his fellow author friends, Nathaniel Hathorne (Hawthorne) is one of the most renowned authors of the Romanticism period which took place during the late 1800s. Nathaniel Hathorne was born into the family of William Hathorne. William was one of the magistrates who sentenced the Quaker women to death during the Salem Witch Trials He was born into a family with a very strong Puritan heritage. As he grew up, he was ashamed to be related to the Hathorne bloodline of William Hathorne. He was, as Hawthorne later characterized him, a bitter persecutor of Quakers. In particular, was solely responsible for ordering the whipping of Ann Coleman. Hawthorne refers to this ancestor as a persecutor of Quakers. Due to this, he eventually changed his last name by adding a W to it. He did this in an attempt to conceal his relation to William. His heritage affects him majorly throughout his entire life (Bloom 11; Nathaniel Hawthorne Web). Nathaniel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Economic Significance Of Renewable Energy Policy ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY POLICY IN INDIA: A CASE STUDY OF GUJARAT S SOLAR POLICY I. Introduction The transition to a greener energy regime in India is driven by both external factors, like energy prices, market developments, political culture and the emphasis on climate change, as well as by internal factors like the goal to achieve long term energy security and the need for enhancing access to energy. The early emphasis on renewable energy in India was primarily on the wake of energy security concerns mooted during the global oil crisis around 1970s. Commission of Additional Sources of Energy (CASE) in 1981 was set up by Government of India (GoI) as one of the early response to such a crisis. CASE was transformed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is argued that policy reforms initiated during the past two decades have transformed India s energy sector from a predominantly government owned system to a system largely driven by market elements. This is also evident in the case of renewable energy where the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) identifies the development of renewable energy in India across various phases: 1970s as research phase, 1980s as demonstration phase and 1990s onwards as commercialization phase with greater participation of private sector entities. The renewable sources of power in India still constitute a small portion of the entire power production of the country, with the total installed capacity of 32,000 MW (which is about 12% of the total installed capacity). Out of the total installed capacity, solar energy constitutes about 10 % (3200 MW). The solar potential of the country is huge. It is estimated that about 12.5 % of India s landmass, which is about 413,000 square kilometers, can be exploited to harness solar energy. The country on an average enjoys 300 sunny days with an average hourly solar radiation of about 200 MW/square kilometer. The Effects Self Congruity and Multifactorial Gender Identity in Advertising Market segmentation is a process that is used to make the selling of goods or services more efficient and profitable. By dividing a large and diverse population into smaller groups, marketers can craft persuasive messages designed to target a specific audience. Examples of these categorizations are age, race, socio economic status, geographic location, occupation, and gender. These demographic distinctions inform every part of the marketing process, from product conception and design all the way to advertising message content. In addition, this process also aids the consumer in making purchasing decisions. Because living in a society driven by consumerism requires seemingly constant deliberation between various goods and services, the categorization of products in this manner can decrease cognitive load and speed up the decision making process (Sandhu, 2016). However, this market segmentation process has social and cultural consequences. While marketers can use this technique to successfully identify inter group differences that can then be strategically addressed, it may also exaggerate, exacerbate, and even create differences that can be unnecessarily divisive at best and in some cases cause severe harm. One example of this is the construction of gender differences to create demand where it wouldn t exist otherwise. Identical objects and their packaging are given different colors, shapes, ... • 15. Classical Music Vs. Modern Music A loose expression for European and American music, of the more serious kind, as opposed to popular folk music, is the Classical Music definition according to the New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy (Houghton Mifflin Company). It appears that finding a common description for a musical phenomenon, that s been around since the Medieval Period, is much easier said than done. I must admit that prior to taking this course, I fell victim to assuming all classical music is dense and contained very little diversity. However, after understanding and applying fresh knowledge of the subject, I began to see differences. During my research, I partially expected to find that classical music is unpopular and that society has great disinterest in any form of it. I also expected to find that millennials and baby boomers would have opposite views on whether classical music is archaic and decaying. The quick poll I conducted revealed eight out of ten people said classical music isn t dead and six of those eight were millennials. Fortunately, I was surprised by some of the evidence I encountered. By the very definition, classical music can be broad and versatile. It is hardly logical to assume that something so old cannon evolve over time. First, I will address the notions that classical music is deceased, or at least, on its last legs. Jamaica is a strong example of this. Their biggest problem that they face is easily the crime issues. There is really nothing in jamaica that brings in wealth. This is a big problem as there is no businesses so everyone is pretty much poor besides a few parts of the island where the rich live. In jamaica it doesn t matter where you are crimes happens everywhere, as for here in the U.S, usually most crimes happen in the run down places, not in the nice areas of rich people. A big problem is there isn t enough law and order to stop all of these crimes that are taking place. There is not enough money to pay all of the policemen. So as these criminals are out killing, they are trying to figure out how to fix it. We all need to worry about what is going on here. Crime in Jamaica is terrible, with all of the drug trafficking to robbery or theft, although it is improving , Jamaica still has one of the highest crime rates in the world, and it doesn t matter where in Jamaica a person is, crime happens everywhere, it doesn t help that Jamaica is located in the Caribbean where a lot of the drugs in the cartel is dispersed, as people fight and kill for those horribly addictive drugs that are ruining the island of Jamaica. • 18. What Is Office Depot s Gross Profit Margin Gross profit margin reflects the amount of revenue from sales that is left for profit and to pay other expenses after the cost of the goods sold is subtracted. This margin is roughly equivalent to the markup on a product and reflects the amount over cost the company is able to charge. Firms in retail can usually increase their gross profit margin if they can differentiate themselves from their competitors and charge a higher price for roughly equivalent products. Staples has pulled ahead of Office Depot in recent years, mostly owing to a drop in Office Depot s margin from roughly 30% to about 24%. This drop is significant because that means less money from sales is flowing through the company to cover operating and other expenses, and contributed to problems such as those discussed with the times interest earned ratio. The operating profit margin is this amount as a percentage of total gross sales. This is where Office Depot s problems, as well as some of Staples become apparent. For Staples, there is wide variation in this margin from year to year, whereas their gross profit margin had relatively small variation. This signifies that Staples likely has less control of its expenses that are incurred in the operating section. An improvement in controlling these expenses could not only improve the bottom line, but also make the company s earnings more predictable from year to year. Staples still fares comparatively well here when compared to Office Depot, who is already losing money before interest and income taxes are subtracted. My friends usually ask me, How s it living in America compared here in the Philippines? . Moving to another country was a huge, scary, life changing leap. People will leave behind everything they have developed to know, and begin to grow into new cultures and traditions. Some of the things I observed that differs between Filipinos and Americans were about celebrations, means of transportation and general things of culture. In the Philippines, the most popular means of public and cheapest transport for people, goods and even sometimes little animals are Jeepneys. Most of the time, jeepneys are always overloaded and some passengers are hanging on the back or even at the top of the vehicle; nevertheless hanging in the jeepney isn t allowed in large cities. For budget travelers, Jeepneys are one of the best and most comfortable transport options. There are also Padyak in local distances, where the rider sits in a sidecar, beside the bicycle, rather than behind it. The Filipino padyak is similar to rickshaws and tricycles. Light rail, buses, and taxis, are the other mode of transportation in the cities like Manila; however most people just walk in the end because of the heavy traffic. While in America, they have transit busses, taxis or trains for public transportation. The most common form of disobedience which have been used in history is to simply not obey the officials of higher authority and protest in order to get the point across. Some teenagers read more mature books than people thrice their age. Even if it is a mature read there is something to learn from all books. No books should be completely banned from any town, province, or country. A book is like music. Some enjoy the loud crashes of war with a rhythm of gripping tension. Others take in the sweet strums of sappy love, a heartfelt keel to the perfect love story. What I am trying to say here is that music, much like books, is subjective. There would only be one genre of music if we all enjoyed the same slow waltz. This is the same with books. A country singer who only reads hunting books and gun magazines is not going to enjoy a book based on a semi illiterate, small town, black lesbian from the early 1900 s life, and that s okay. Such a story may be considered scandalous to this back road trucker. Yet that is still not an excuse to ban the throaty song that is A Color Purple because you enjoy slapstick comedy.
