Ancient Egyptian Religion
Background of religion
Bordered by deserts, Egypt s Nile River valley was very isolated from other civilizations due to the
deserts surrounding them. This isolation continued for thousands of years. As a result, Egyptian
religion and culture remained almost untouched by the beliefs the other early civilizations at the
time. This religion consisted of thousands of gods and goddesses. Around these deities arose a rich
mythology formed that helped to explain the world to the early Egyptians.
Religion was organized into groups known as religious cults. These groups worshiped specific
gods who played a central role in their society.
Roll of Pharaohs in Religion
The king, or pharaoh, was a very important model in the ancient Egyptian religion. The ancient
Egyptians believed that the king was a divine link between humans and the gods. Since pharaohs
were considered to have a special relationship with the deities they had many responsibilities.
These responsibilities included asking the gods and goddesses to protect their land and to also
keep it prosperous. They were also responsible for supporting and organizing religious cults and for
building and maintaining temples dedicated to the gods.
Pharoh s believed that through this link the gods and goddesses kept order. The Pharaoh in some
ways was more important than any individual god. The ruler s official names and titles reflected
his special relationship to the deities, particularly to the sun god Ra and the sky god Horus. Some

Data Collection Tool Used For Information About Individuals
A survey is a process of obtaining information or a general view, examination, or description of
something. It is a data collection tool used to gather information about individuals. It has a variety
of purposes and can actually be conducted in many ways. One of the ways is by printed
questionnaire, over the telephone, by mail, in person, by diskette, or on the web. However, the
information is collected through the use of standardized procedures. This is to ensure that every
participant is asked the same questionin the same way (uniform). It entails asking the participants
for information in a structured format. Notably, the participants being surveyed may be
representing themselves or their organization depending on what is being asked. They may also
focus on factual information about individuals. Generally, surveys are standardized to ensure that
they have reliability and validity. This is very important so that the results can be generalized to the
entire population. However, this paper will discuss the following questions/concerns based on the
survey questionnaireanswered: my thoughton the length of each survey instrument, my thought on
the open minded questions, whether I preferred completing the surveys or open ended questions,
which methodology I believe is most useful in the examination of each variable/construct, and how
this experience might influence my research design.

Roman Women Essay
Who is the Roman Woman? The answer seems hard to be formulated so easily, for being a
woman in Ancient Rome bears only resemblance to the current range of experiences available to
women. The lives of the Roman Women were a reflection of the social system based on inequality
and elitism they lived in. Between the public and private spheres, they were excluded from the
political life of the state but somehow remained embodiments of civic virtues established by their
male superiors. As well as in art an literary representations, they were characterized as being lesser
human beings because of their differences from men. The discussion on feminine identity in
Ancient Rome finds its bias in the extent that most of the sources, artistic representations... Show

In sum, we will argue that Ancient Roman Art emphasizes female likeness as solidly attached to
female social identity as the women whom they were meant to represent belonged to a certain kind
of elite, of status, descent and wealth. In other words, we would argue that Roman artistic
representation of the female figure would constitute a social and political agencies directed at the
male actors who commissioned them. As women s status was directly related to the males, they
were closely associated with, the identity of an upper class woman was highly tied to her social
position as wife, daughter, thus sharing their distinction with their male kin. We will conduct our
discussion in the comparison between the distinctions that are to be fond among this particular
category: between the various fashions of the Pudicitia and the representation of imperial women,
with the Statue of Agrippina (Fig. 4) Maior (Tiberian Period) and the Coin of Caligula (Fig. 5) (37

Raging Bull Themes
Martin Scorsese s Raging Bull is a movie based on the real life story of a headstrong
middleweight boxer as he strives to become a champion. His name is Jake LaMotta (Robert De
Niro), a world renowned boxer in the 1940s. Themes of violence, jealousy, and insecurity carry
the film. LaMotta is written off as a physically and verbally abusive man, who seems limited only
to the brutal emotions of wrath, anger, and envy. His life passes through sequential phases of
punishment, negotiation, and self disintegration, due to his copious amounts of inner demons.
Raging Bull tells the story of an unlovable washout who manipulates the odds stacked exceedingly
in his favor, to destroy himself. LaMotta finds that his own malice, cruelty, lack of humanity,
incoherent rage, and inner demons can best be expressed or exorcised inside of the boxing ring.
Boxing is the medium used to forward the story, but this is not a boxing film. Boxing takes the back
seat. Instead, this film is the ultimate character study.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an argument I can perceive gaining no support. If anything, not showing LaMotta s
childhood or experiences only serves tribute to the actuality that he has been and always will be
what he is. At no point do we ever concern ourselves about what made Jake LaMotta who he is.
Instead, the movie is about what it means to live life in the way he does. This moving realism is
especially established in the opening and closing scenes. It is in these scenes that we witness a
much older, much more beaten down Jake who is balding and overweight, who is currently making
living managing a nightclub and even emceeing at a strip

Personal Finances
Describe how/where you learned what you know about personal finances*
Learning about money management started at home with my mother. We save throughout the year
for Christmas by depositing loose change into a jar. Our savings determine what new electronics
are within grasp Christmas. This taught me to become actively involved in determining how I
would like to spend my money. I always research the best bargains so that this money can buy the
various items I desire at an acceptable price.
I just obtained my first job and the various paycheck deductions are astonishing. This lesson is a
real eye opener as I begin planning for graduation. My mother and I established a budget for the
various graduation events and I am responsible for paying for those items that exceeds the amount
we have set aside. My budget also centers around celebratory events in which I will receive money;
like Christmas, birthday, and graduation.
My school has also been instrumental in teaching lessons about personal finances. My class
competed against other schools in the H R Budget Challenge Game. The game taught lessons about

that on a weekly budget of $20 that I sometimes have to choose between buying fancy school
lunches or taking in a movie with friends. I am also proud to say that I treated my mother and
sister to Christmas dinner and I insisted on paying the tip, and the tipping scale was a new
financial arena that I had yet to discover. New money management skills are learned daily and I

Canadian Immigration Policy
There are various issues that revolve around Canadian politics. These issues can include various
subjects, such as economics, multiculturalism, health care, immigration, and foreign policy. An
important issue in Canada that is discussed in this essay is Canada s constant changes to its
immigration policy in order to improve its economic goals and the labour market. These issues are
changing by different policies that the Canadian government are putting into place, which creates a
more strict system in choosing who can immigrate into the country. Three articles that thoroughly
analyze Canada s immigrationpolicy in order to implement these changes are the following. The
first article is named: New Directions in Immigration Policy: Canada s... Show more content on

proposals in determining how immigrants can immigrate into Canada. The articles introduction
mentions important policies that the Canadian government put into place: Recent examples include
the Ontario Expert Roundtable on Immigration (2012) and the Longitudinal Survey of Immigrants

Beach Burial Poem Analysis
Throughout history, poetry was often used in conflict with glorified or ambiguous images of war
being presented to the people at home, revealing the truth and brutality of war. Bruce Dawe,
Kenneth Slessor, Carol Ann Duffy and Wilfred Owen are well known anti war poets who express
their concerns ad objections of warthrough poetry. Dawe s Homecoming and Slessor s Beach Burial
explore the vastness of war and the futile magnitude of soldiers who had fallen in battle, never to
return home. Contrastingly, Duffy s War Photographer and Owen s Arms and the Boy comment on
the disability of psychologically returning home, exploring the corruption of innocence and youth,
with those involved in war never to return home as the same person.

Duffy uses four regular, six line stanzas to impose order amongst the agonies in black and white,
the photographer has to not only develop as a part of his job, but to psychologically grapple with
in the remainder of his life. Similarly, Owen has employed three regular, four line stanzas, however
this structural order emulates the removal of freedom that comes with youth, expressing the
corruption of the soldiers ability to return to their innocence. Duffy ends each stanza in a rhyming
couplet to strengthen the routine placed amidst the chaos of war and drive home her point of the
psychological aftermath of war on everyone involved. Contrastingly, Owen utilises pararhymes
flash / flesh , teeth / death to denote the inaptness of young boys being armed with weapons, forced
to soon mature to escape their foreseeable death, never to return as innocent youths. Duffy s use of
sibilance spools of suffering causes the reader to hiss words, emphasising the prevalent callousness
of war. Similarly, Owen has incorporated sibilance Sharp with the sharpness to augment the
malevolency associated with weaponry, disengaging young soldiers from their innocence, never to
be the same again. Owen

Abstract In this paper we propose a methodology based on data mining andself evaluation in order
to predict whether an instructor will or will not accept the students proposed marks in a course.

II. METHODOLOGY
The methodology that we have used in this study is as follows.During the course, students are
evaluated by means of a multiple choice testing that is an effective assessment technique. Before the
final exam date, all students are requested to self grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they
think they should get for the course. Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of
each student as the final mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by
the instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s decision of
accepting or declining the score proposed by students.
We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1).
Figure 1. Approaches for predicting instructor s decision.
The initial approach uses three numerical variables: the scoreobtained by students in the course s
activities, the proposed scores by students and the difference between these two previous scores.
Then, it applies traditional classification algorithms for predicting the instructor s decision about
whether to accept the proposed students scores (YES) or not (NO). The new approach uses the
three previous variables as well as a self evaluation questionnaire as another source of information.
Then, it applies cost sensitive classification [2] that is normally used for obtaining

Complete Surgical Excision Of Skin Lesions
Excision of Skin Lesions Excision of a skin lesion refers to the removal of a section of skin by
making small cuts (incisions) in the skin. This procedure may be done to remove a cancerous or
noncancerous growth on the skin. It is typically done to treat or prevent cancer or infection. It
may also be done to improve cosmetic appearance. The procedure may be done to remove:
Cancerous growths such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or melanoma.
Noncancerous growths such as a cyst or lipoma. Growths such as moles or skin tags, which may
be removed for cosmetic reasons. Various excision or surgical techniques may be used depending

procedures, antibiotic ointment will be applied as needed. Complete Surgical Excision The area
of skin to be removed will be marked with a pen. Using a small scalpel or scissors, the surgeon
will gently cut around and under the lesion until it is completely removed. The lesion will be
placed in a fluid and sent to the lab for examination. If necessary, bleeding will be controlled with
a device that delivers heat (electrocautery). The edges of the wound may be stitched (sutured)
together, and a bandage (dressing) will be applied. This procedure may be performed to treat a
cancerous growth or a noncancerous cyst or lesion. Excision of a Cyst The surgeon will make an
incision on the cyst. The entire cyst will be removed through the incision. The incision may be
closed with sutures. Shave Excision During shave excision, the surgeon will use a small blade or
electrically heated loop instrument to shave off the lesion. This may be done to remove a mole or
skin tag. The wound will usually be left to heal on its own without

Causes Of New Imperialism
New imperialism was a period of colonial expansion by European powers during the late 19th
century and early 20th century. It is distinguished by the continuous territorial acquisitions of Africa
and Asia by European powers. These powers include Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Germany,
and Belgium (Tusan, Scramble for Africa, October 23rd). There were many reasons behind this
aggressive competition. To them, these newfound lands were an opportunity to expand their power
and exploit further resources. To put it bluntly, economic, political, cultural, and ideological
motivations all helped start the era of New Imperialismand its new form of empire.
In terms of economic reasons, European powers sought to maximize profits. Expansion ... Show

An imperial government must protect its own territories while expanding it as well. If another
power gets a territory, they gain that land s resources, meaning more power. Due to this, each
European power perceived other powers trying to expand as a threat to their security and
prestige. This results in every European power to seek out new territories. A prime exemplar of
this is the Fashoda Crisis. France wanted control of the Nile, but that would mean excluding
Britain from it (Tusan, The Scramble for Africa III, October 30th). In the end, France backed off
because it needed to be on friendly terms with Britain in case of a war against Germany. Instead
of fighting over a valuable trade route, France decided the safety of the country was more
important if war does happen with Germany. As a result, Britain s control in Egypt was asserted.
For cultural and ideological reasons, imperial nations believed that their values and beliefs were
superior to anyone else s. A huge concept of New Imperialismwas the European civilizing mission
. In general, Europeans think they re doing a good deed by imposing their beliefs onto the
inhabitants of Africa. As King Leopold II stated, Our refined society attaches to human life (and
with reason) a value unknown to barbarous communities (King Leopold II, 222). Since the Africans
were inferior to Europeans,

The Inuit People Essay
The Inuit People
The word Eskimo is not a proper Eskimo word. It means eaters of raw meat and was used by the
Algonquin Indians of eastern Canada for their neighbours who wore animal skin clothing and were
ruthless hunters. The name became commonly employed by European explorers and now is
generally used, even by them. Their own term for themselves is Inuit which means the real people.
The Inuit developed a way of life well suited to their Arctic environment, based on fishing; hunting
seals, whales, and walruses in the ocean; and hunting caribou, polar bears, and other game on land.
They lived in tents or travelled in skin covered boats called kayaks and umiaks in summer, and

Although some groups are settled on rivers and depend on fishing, and others follow inland caribou
herds, most Eskimo s traditionally have lived primarily as hunters of maritime mammals (seals,
walrus, and whales), they have always been situated near the sea.
Settlement
In all Eskimo areas a yearly cycle took place in which groups spent the winter together in a larger
group and then moved into smaller groups. Such seasonal congregating and breaking up of
settlements occurred even in Greenland and western Alaska ; during the summer, people would
leave the permanent communities and live in animal skin tents at favourite spots for seal hunting,
for fishing, or for collecting birds, eggs, and plants. The igloo (from an Eskimo word meaning
home ) was constructed of packed snow and used only during the winter, villages of igloos were
built on the firm ocean ice of the central Arctic to help seal hunting through holes in the ice. They
were also used as temporary structures in Greenland and in parts of Canada and Alaska.
Food
The traditional method of hunting seals during winter through the frozen ocean ice was most
typical of the Eskimo of north central Canada. Since seals are mammals and must breathe, they
scratch a number of holes through the ice as it begins to freeze and periodically return to them for
air.

An enlightened and benevolent anarchism, such as expressed by the terms, anarcho pacifism
/ anarcho socialism, is, in my view, the only anarchism that can ever work. To arrive at an anarcho
pacifist / anarcho socialist society, we as a global community must undergo great psychological
transformation. Only then can anarchism become a practical ideology for the world.
However, we as individuals need not wait for all humanity to find anarchy before we can have
anarchy for ourselves. We can manifest anarchy within our own circles of being, individually, here
and now; thus becoming individually liberated.
The anarchist truly has the best political deal. Whereas the fascist depends upon a fascist
government to have fascism, the state socialist upon a socialistic government to have socialism, the
democrat upon a democratic government to have democracy, and the libertarian capitalist upon a
libertarian government to have laissez faire capitalism, the anarchist can choose to have anarchy,
here and now, without any government.
Anarchy, the way I see it, is a personal choice, depending on nothing but one s own true will. If
one wants anarchy for oneself, one can have it, regardless of the political system society has. All
the anarchist needs to do

Relationship Measures Of Attachment Security And Parental...
The current study investigated the relationship measures of attachment security, parental sensitivity,
emotional availability, and child attachment classifications in high risk parent child dyads. The first
hypothesis was only partially supported, all home and lab based measures were positively related
but were not all significant. Consistent with past research, home based measures of attachment
security and parental sensitivity were strongly positively related, which adds to the literature
supporting the validity of the AQS and MBQS mini (Tarabulsy, et al., 2009). Moreover, these
findings were anticipated as the two measures are complementary and can be assessed using the
same parent child observations. Parental sensitivity was related to all EA dimensions. In contrast,
attachment security was not related to any dimensions of EA, except the dimension of adult
structuring. The latter findings failed to replicate results in past research which linked measures of
attachment security to dimensions of EA (Biringen et al., 2014). Childhood attachment
classifications obtained through the Strange Situation Procedure (SSP) were also examined in this
study. Disorganized attachment has shown to be the most detrimental on children. Given the high
risk sample, the current study had an even split of secure and disorganized children. These results
have been replicated in the past by Easterbrooks, Biesecker, and Lyons Ruth (2000) with low
income high psychosocial risk families. The

The New Testament Teaches The Livelihood Of Jesus
The importance of the Bible is evident throughout the history of the Church for it is the only
source that teaches the livelihood of Jesus. A believer has to have a general understanding of the
Bible like the main facts like the disciples of Jesus ministry and the relevance of the Old Testament.
Yet, the New Testament has twenty seven books varying in length, only four are going to be the

Although, Matthew emphasizes Jesus as the authoritative Son of God, such as in Matthew 8:23
28 when Jesus calms the storm. This example should be an influence to the Church to trust and
have more faith in Jesus such as believing that Jesus will help a person through their storms in
their life such as financial needs. For Jesus said to the disciples, You have so little faith, why are
you so afraid? (Richards and Richards). However in Mark, he focuses on the Messianic Secret,
where Jesus tries to keep other unknown to him being the Messiah. Yet, in Mark 8:30, Peter
answered, You are the Messiah. Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him. This portrait is
unique to the Church for it is usually the norm to immediately express ones love for Christ.
However, Jesus is stating that Christianity is more than just the belief in Him; such having faith,
reading the Bible daily, prayer, worship, and congregating with others, to just name a few. Next,
is Luke whose concentration pertains to Cosmopolitan of Jesus. For in Luke 2:30 31, which you
have prepared in the sight of all nation: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of you

gender, or age. The Church should take this verse inconsideration when discussing homosexuality
in the Church for they should hate the sin not the sinner. For if a person has a

Boom Blast Diamond Club Research Paper
Boom Blast Diamond Dawgs Winter Park, Fla. The Altamonte Springs Boom defeated the
Winter Park Diamond Dawgs 8 0, in eight innings, Wednesday night at Alfond Stadium.
However, the story was Brett Morales (Florida), who tossed 7.2 scoreless innings, with no walks
and six strikeouts. Alex Young () drove a two strike pitch through the left side of the infield to
break up his perfect game. Coach Kevin Davidson would come out to get Morales and the crowd,
mostly Diamond Dawg fans, to give him a standing ovation. Most people in the stadium was

Sears Mission Statement
Problem or Need
Prior the 1980 s, Sears Holding Corporation (SHLD) managed to generate revenue and compete
among the top retailers in America (Kim, 2014). SHLD s current financial status reveals that they
are failing to maintain profitability. Having worked with SHLD for over two years, I have noticed
a slow decline in profits. The main reasons for SHLD mishaps are due to a lack of a satisfactory
mission statement (Sears Holding Corp, 2014), increased competition, insufficient marketing tools
and lack of bargaining power. All of these elements play a part in SHLD loss of profits.

Although SHLD is attempting to cut costs and capitalize off of their newly appointed loyalty
program, the company continues to manufacture quarterly losses (Sharf, 2014). Their lack of
profitability stems from an inadequate mission statement, increased competition, inadequate
marketing and lack of bargaining power. However, all of these aspects can be fixed to ensure
that SHLD becomes profitable again. This is why research needs to be completed. I need to
research ways combat competition, revitalize their marketing approach and increase their
bargaining power. Furthermore, I need to ensure that SHLD s modified mission statement
provides guidelines for the entire organization to follow. Once all of these aspects of SHLD are
fixed, I will present my results to my General Manager of SHLD eastern region. Prior to
presenting a formal report to my General Manager, I plan to excavate information from sources
as follows: Wall Street Journal, Forbes, ABC news and much more. In addition to periodicals, I
will use UMUC s Library to extract financial trends and statistics. Moreover, I plan to conduct

The Benefits Of Time Travel
Although time travel has long been since considered as fable, there have been studies and theories
that appeared supporting the time travel. Einstein s theory of relativity supports time travel and
with this scientists have come up with theories of time travel. Other theories and many experiments
have been conducted to try and prove the possibility of time travel for humans. Einstein s theory of
relativitydetermined that the speed of light within a vacuum is constant no matter the speed at
which the observer is traveling and with this found out that space and time were intertwined
together in a continuum identified as space time. In the theory of special relativity, time is said to
move slower or faster depending on the observer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Travelling to the future is said to be easy. Einstein s theory of special relativity shows that for
people who are moving relative to one another time passes at different rates, although the effect
is only considerable when you travel near the speed of light. Let us say that you travelled in
space at about 99.5% of the speed of light. The year you have spent is space would be lesser than
the time that passed on Earth until you get back home. Many years have gone by on Earth while
you have only spent a few years in space. Travelling to the speed of light cannot be yet achieved
as of today s technology. There would be a great need for an unimaginable amount of energy to
travel near the speed of light. But time travel to the future has already happened. Cosmonaut
Sergei Krikalev travelled through time and holds the longest amount of time spent in space with
803 days. He orbited around the Earth travelling at around 7.66 km/s. Because of the high speed
travel and length of time he spent in space; he arrived back in Earth 0.02 seconds in the future
which is also due to time dilation. Although, he only travelled seconds in the future and not like
the 5 years or more in the future he was still able to arrive earlier without travelling in the speed of
light. Time travel can also occur in gravitational fields as stated in the theory of general relativity.
Einstein predicted that time passed more slowly for objects in gravitational

The Dalai Lama, Before, During And After The Chinese Invasion
The universally recognized 14th Dalai Lama has tirelessly fought for the freedom for Tibet, during
and after the unlawful occupation of the Chinese. His non violence and political involvement for
Tibet had brought acknowledgment and respect from the rest of the world.
Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, was born in 1934 in Eastern Tibet. He was hailed his
predecessor s incarnation at the age of two, and was enthroned in 1940. Traditionally, the role of
the Dalai Lama is the spiritual guide and leader of Tibet, creating a symbol of security and peace.

The Dalai Lama continued to send delegations to both neighboring counties and also countries of
significant power, but all of the Dalai Lama s attempts went ignored, as China was at the time, of
great power and consequence, and an important contribution to trade. Therefore powerful countries
did not get involved with Tibet, in the fear of provoking influential China.
While the Dalai Lama remained in Tibet, his life was at stake. Tibet slowly went into a cataclysmic
effect of destruction and disorder. The freedom of speech was now lost to the Tibetan people,
freedom marches and movements were banned, the result in not complying with this unjust system
was death or brutal imprisonment for years at a time. Even though these protests were violently
suppressed by the Communist government and martial law was imposed in 1989, demonstrations
against Chinese rule have nevertheless continued.
Following Tibet s Liberation, Mao Zedong immediately established the Seventeen Point System,
which totally eliminated Tibet s past independence. Since then, almost one and a half million
people in Tibet have been slain, and over six thousand religious buildings have been demolished.
These horrific figures have shocked the world and brought about a great sense of remorse and
compassion towards the Tibetan people and the Dalai Lama, as they continue to resist the Chinese

Analysis Of The Beet Queen By Louise Erdrich
In the excerpt from Louise ErdrichЕ›, The Beet Queen, Erdrich uses shifts in tone, the imagery of
the tree, and the juxtaposition of two children whom are impacted very differently by the nature of
the world. The characters of Karl and Mary are introduced as two completely opposing people.
Throughout the passage, Erdrich explores how the childrens reactions to the environment reveal
their differing perspectives and understandings. Erdrich chooses to convey this scene via third
person narration and an ambivalent tone in order to convey the bleak setting of this story. The
author utilizes imagery ...cold spring morning...lips were violet...feet were numb... to show the
extent of the uninviting environment. Even referring to the train that the children were transported
on, there is a comparison to the tone. The train is seen as a cold metal machine, similar to the
emotionless nature of the speaker. After the long trip on the train, Karl and Mary are introduced.

Multiple Sclerosis Case Study Summary
Background Daclizumab was previously on the market as brand name Zenapax. It was indicated
for intravenous use for acute organ rejection in kidney transplant patients. Zenapax was taken off
the market in 2009 by the manufacturer due to decreased demand for the product and not because
of an issue with safety.1 A new formulation, daclizumab high yield process (HYP) brand name
Zinbrynta, has been introduced. Daclizumab HYP has the indication for adults with relapsing
multiple sclerosis and is administered subcutaneously.2 Previous studies have shown daclizumab
HYP to be effective as monotherapy in patients with multiple sclerosis within a treatment period of
one year.3 Currently, interferon beta 1a, brand name Avonex, is an approved therapy for relapsing
multiple sclerosis.4 The objective of this trial was to compare the effects of daclizumab HYP with

clearly stated, it would have been helpful if the article mentioned that daclizumab was previously on
the market with a different indication. The authors may have felt this information was not
necessary to include. However, fully educating and preparing readers with information on the
medications being discussed may be beneficial. The results of the study achieved the objectives of
the research because daclizumab HYP was found to be superior to interferon beta 1a in terms of the
primary outcome. On the other hand, the authors were probably not expecting the daclizumab HYP
patients to have a higher incidence of certain adverse events. The fact that the authors included this
information in the trial allows the providers and patients the information to make a conscious

Does Advancement Of Science Make Primitive Religious...
Question 1.
Does advancement in science make primitive religious beliefs obsolete?
The question whether advancements in science and technology make the religious explanations of
reality is one of the big question and has triggered heated discussions and debates (Tremlin, 2012).
I support the great work of world s top higher learning institutions and universities in the fields such
as theoretical cosmology, physics, cognitive science, evolutionary biology and social science that
relate to forgiveness, love, purpose, creativity, nature and origin of religious beliefs. I encourage the
informed and open minded discussion between theologians and scientists as they relate themselves
to the most profound issues their specific discipline. And in a more particular way I seek to
motivate fresh thinking about the creation of wealth and developing the world, programs that are
aimed at cultivation talents of the gifted, and character education in Universities and schools. In
this paper, I will explain why the primitive theories still hold despite the advancements in
technology.
Theories of the way of primitive religion have moved between two shafts: one intellectualistic and
discerning, the other mental and nonsensical. Tylor and Frazer, both of whom saw primitive
religion as portrayed prevalently by a confidence in enchantment and concealed powers or forces,
speak to the educated sane position. Tylor based his understanding of primitive religion on the
thought that primitive

However, Southern Adventist University, a traditional higher educationinstitution established by
Seventh Day Adventist Church offers a wide number of programs or a chain of programs from
Certificate to the doctoral level, where students choose which area or program to major in. This
institution, unlike College of Atlantis nurtures Christlikeness and encourages the pursuits of truths,

Factors That Affect The Water
Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in water. Mr.
Redman states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that hinders that motion or is the
force acting in opposition to the motion of an object. Parachutes are a great example of this force;
when air is trapped in the nylon of a parachute, it creates dragslowing the velocity of the
parachutist. Water drag is acted upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of
the swimmers closely affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear
tightly fitted swimsuits all to reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer also affect drag
resistance. Water is 800 times denser than air, drag forces... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly pushes against the
shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a force by adding large hoods or
visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected. The back of the truck is built in a streamlined
fashion, like a plane, to completely extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of
drag is frictional forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels
encounter friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and may become hot.
This drag is common among cars and other ground transportation. Engineers have looked to the
future to solve this drag. MAGLEV trains are levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion.
This way friction drag is eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air
resistance, MAGLEV trains incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to cut
through air, that way the force of air is evenly distributed around the body. Drag also occurs in
water called, fluid friction or fluid resistance. Boats, ships, subs, whales, dolphin, and swimmers
all go through fluid rest incense. Much like air resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a
object is moving. And again much like air resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag.
Submarines were once built like boats only they were underwater. Until 1953 when the us army

The Effects Of Attending A Secondary School Essay
One incredibly important part of this particular study is that it does not provide any specific ways
in which these effects take place (Stearns, 2010). This mental development is too broad to point out
particular parts in the lives of student that will lead to this type of isolation. Instead, the study states
that the process of attending a secondary schoolwhere diversity is low (or accurate to the diversity
of the nation), will eventually lead the student to live in racial isolation. In one way this
vagueness is helpful. Scouring through the lives and decisions of a particular student is not as
necessary when it comes to predicting the possible demographics that they will live in for the
rest of their lives. Instead, we can look at the secondary school, as a whole, that they are a part of
to do the predicting for us, as well as show where a student will need to be given help if our
society wants to break social fragmentation and, in turn, help develop the social cohesion of our
nation. Finally, this research is valuable and the last on the list of main points because the study
shows that the Perpetuation Theory continues in a cycle. If a student goes to a school with low
diversity, it is likely that they will live in an area with similar demographics. Once that individual
has settled in that area, according to the theory, they will send their children to schools with similar
demographics as the school that they went to. Then, those children will live in neighborhoods

I Must Be Going By Richard Ford
In the essays Homeplace by Scott Russell Sanders and I Must Be Going by Richard Ford, the
authors discuss their very different viewpoints on whether people should move around or stay put
in one home. In Homeplace, Sanders argues against moving with a didactic and self righteous tone
that aims to put his philosophy of staying put above any other. However, in I Must Be Going, Ford
approaches the topic differently, explaining his own reasons for moving from home to home.
Although he is defensive in reaction to others criticizing his choices to move, he does not put his
method of living above that of others, but simply seeks to justify it. Although the two authors
discuss the same topic in their essays and both use evocative methods of writing to explore the
motivations behind moving or staying put, they do so using very different viewpoints and attitudes
towards transience. Throughout Homeplace, Sanders conveys his moralistic attitude against
moving through the use of connotative diction, example, and the portrayal of his opinion that his
way of life is best. He begins the essay by discussing the story of the Miller family, a family that
chooses to stay put even after its farm is torn to pieces by tornadoes several times. He writes, Their
commitment to the place may have been foolhardy, but it was also grand. I suspect that most
human achievements worth admiring are the result of such devotion (4). Although his use of the

Life In Christianity Vs. The Afterlife Of Christianity
Heaven preached in the Bible is considered paradise, with streets of gold and mansions built for
everyone who resides there. This place is as easy to get to as hell, all one has to do is ask Jesus
into their hearts and lives, but living life as a Christian is very difficult yet rewarding. Christians
are always prosecuted and in certain parts of the world, Christianityis forbidden and if found out
could result in execution. Nevertheless, dying as a martyr in the name of the lord is of the highest
reward. So the afterlife of Christianity is very much different compared to the afterlife of Hinduism
because in Christianity there is no reincarnation, and only one heavenand hell, and good works
cannot get you to heaven, only admitting that you re a sinner and repenting of your sins, and
accepting Jesus will can ultimately give you everlasting life in Heaven. Life as a nonbeliever is a
sure way to get you to hell, which is what many believers fear. If you follow the Lord s word,

Cultural Factors Influencing Voter Participation
The reason why nation have different turnout and protest rates vary across the people and across
the nations is because there are many different variables that go into these two very common
activities. While it might not seem to be the best way to lump together two seemingly different
political activities, both voter turnout and protesting play off many of the same emotions and
reasoning for people. The Fornos et al. article produce four main reason why voter s turnout to vote
and these four explanations can also protests: political cultural factors; socioeconomic variables;
institutional variables; and the political process.
In their article, they describe their sets of explanations. The cultural explanation emphases certain
customs within a given culture/region, which play an important role in influencing voter
participation. The socioeconomic variables serve as tools to predict level of civic and political
attentiveness. Institutional and technical designs that may hinder or facilitate the casting of votes
is the scheme of how the government is set up with the voting systems. The final set of explanation
concerns the political process per se, meaning the perception of fairness, transparence, and political
effectiveness. Fornos et al. concludes that the higher the percentage of these ideas the higher

An Analysis Of Shakespeare s Henry IV
Centralizing a political theme of this whole saga is the consolidation of the country under the
authority of the monarch, fighting with feudal lords, enemies and the deceitful behaviors
displayed. Shakespeare tried to convey truthfully what is proclaimed to be war, and the
personalities of others, but a significant part of the latter consisted polemical writings exposed the
machinations of reactionary feudal lords and kings to chant. Consequently, this primarily explains
the fact of what Shakespeare idealized in Henry IV. Shakespeare described deviations from
historical truth, but they were not conscious of Shakespeare. An exception is the Shakespeare s
desire to reduce the duration, to satiate his events. Reading Henry IV it has endured the... Show

1. Explain what is meant by there was a time when you could work on your car .
The quote stated in article two by Ceruzzi (2005), there was a time when you could work on your
car , is a metaphor explaining how this current era has dramatically changed due to advancements
in technologies, information, and media. Ceruzzi (2005) explained in his journal how software
such as Microsoft (PowerPoint), Adobe and AOL provides more convenience and assists us in our
presentation of information by just a few clicks of a wireless computer mouse. Ceruzzi (2005)
states, How far removed this is from the days when many of us used jacks, wrenches,
screwdrivers, and other tools to replace broken or worn parts on our cars, reinstalled everything,
tested it, and then drove off! (p. 8). The conveniences of this digital and ... Show more content on

In today s trend and particularly in modernized nations, everyone is concerned about convenience
and speed.
We have seen advancements in telecommunications such as a pager. We rarely see anyone use
pagers (except for medical personnel working in hospitals where satellite signals are very weak
and the best method of reaching them is by paging), and the majority of consumers now use
smart phones which have the capabilities to get access to the high speed internet, search
engines, social media and many more. Studies from DataMonitor (2010), indicates that 70% of
Americans aged 16 years or older feel that they do not have the time to do all the things they
need to do. In addition, 50% of Americans believe the lack of time is a bigger problem than
money (para. 1). Keeping the previous quote in mind, there could be a downside to the
conveniency of time if it is taken as a short

History And Science Of The Atom
History of the Atom

Chemistry B
The atom is an important thing in the world of science and chemistry. The atom might have started
on a different point of view on how the atom works. There were many different people who had
many good and different ideas on how to use the atom and what it was used for. Democritus was one
of many other philosopher and scientists that wanted to start the discovery of the atom. He got the
name atom from a Greek word, atomos which means that everything is uncut table. The atom was
discovered by Ernest Rutherford while he was doing an experiment in 1911 1919. Ernest Rutherford
suggested at first that the atoms orbited around atomic the nucleus, just like the planets. Atoms are
basic units of matter that are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are
particles that are found in the center of the atom, and the electrons are particles that are found in
shells that orbit around the nucleus of the atom. The nucleus was discovered in 1911, by Ernest
Rutherford and it is known for holding the protons and neutrons, and it s also in the middle of the
proton. Atoms have many other things that are special and important to use, but one of the most
useful thing is the Periodic Table, a table of the chemical elements arranged in order of the atomic
order. The most important things for the history of the atom are the basic units of matter which
make the atom

News Coverage of September 11th, 2001 Essay
The attack that occurred on September 11th, 2001 on the World Trade Center in New York City
is an event that lingers in the minds of many Americans and other people throughout the world.
Most people can recall exactly where they were and whom they were with when they first heard
about the airplanes crashing into the towers. It was a day that changed the way people looked at
the world and brought to light the realities that even the wealthiest and most military advanced
country was not safe from acts of terrorism. The dangers posed by religious extremist were being
carried out on national and international news outlets live in front of millions if not billions of
people worldwide. The events that occurred on this day changed the way... Show more content on

The viewers saw the pictures on the screen at the same time as the anchors did (Morgensen 38).
Garry Tuchman a National Correspondent from CNN states, The most important thing is to be
accurate...be honest and explain that there s a lot of commotion and chaos. And while you re
staying clam, explain we re trying to gather the information the best we can. We are going to
give it to you as it comes but if we re not sure about it, we ll make it clear to you (Morgensen 38).
Newscasts from NBC, Sky, and BBC World reported the news almost identical and in a way that
informed viewers that they too were unsure of the motive if any behind the plane crashes into the
twin towers. It was clearly stated by both domestic and foreign news stations that many detail
were unclear and they would be made available as they came in. It was not only a story that
affected Americans but also people throughout the World. For the first time since Pearl Harbor
Americans were being attacked on their own soil. Due to the surprise and scale of the attacks of 9
/11 it focused the worlds attention to New York City because it showed if this could happen to the
mightiest country in the world it could happen to any other nation.
It is important to note the way in which the news was broadcasted. A new name would become
embedded into the minds of Americans, Osama Bin Laden along with his terror network known as
Al Qaeda. As the media in the United States began to find a motivation behind the attacks

In modern life, news outlets distribute satire and caricatures of government institutions and its
leaders to the public via numerous social media platforms, television, and magazines with little to

President of the United States, Donald Trump. Harshly criticized for his politics, pseudo

Louis Phillipe, born under the Old Regime in 1773, is the only French monarch to come to power
as a result of a political uprising against his predecessor Although the cousin of the Bourbon
monarch, King Louis XVI, Louis Phillipe the son of Duc d OrlГ©ans, was raised with liberal and
Enlightenment ideologies. With his family heavily involved in the early stages of the French
Revolution of 1789, Louis Phillipe served as an officer in the military. Although unsettled by the
Revolutionary leadership voting for regicide, he remained faithful to the army, until the outbreak of
the Reign of Terror in 1793. Upon fleeing France, Louis Phillipe s father denounced his son s
actions. However, the Duc was later arrested and guillotined for he was still tainted by association
with his son and nephew, King Louis XVI. During his twenty two year exile, Louis Phillipe
travelled throughout Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean only returning to France after
the Bourbon Restoration and the establishment of the constitutional monarchy of Louis XVIII in
1814. During his exile, he reconciled with the royal family and returned with a new wife. After the
death of Louis XVII, Charles X succeeded the throne. During his five year reign, Charles X returned

The Neanderthals
According to the consensus view, the Neanderthals lived 250,000 to 30,000 years BP (Before the
Present), they were very primitive, looked more like gorillas than men, led a short brutish life, and
died on average at the age of forty five. According to my research, they were built more powerfully
than modern Humans. Their thicker tendons and ligaments, attached to heavier bones, gave them
superior strength, and the capacity of leaping high to hunt large animals. One of their back muscles,
that Humans have lost, added tremendous force and precision for throwing an object such as a
lance, or for handling a sword. Their voluminous rib cage gave superior stamina during any effort.

Preventing Terrorism through Providing Nuclear Security
The Department of Homeland Security was initiated as a result of the worst terrorist attack in
United States history, September 11th, 2001, with the purpose of providing protection for the
American people from a wide variety of terrorist threats. On March 24th and 25th, 2014, President

Nuclear Forensics and the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office
Nuclear forensics is one of the two key elements of nuclear security. Nuclear forensics is the
analysis of seized contraband nuclear or radioactive material and any corresponding material in
order to provide evidence that will assist in identifying the source of the nuclear or radioactive
material and determine its point of origin (International Atomic Energy Agency, 2006). Nuclear
forensics also covers the use of the information gathered by the original analysis to determine the
routes of transit and any corresponding equipment. The process of nuclear forensics and evidence
gathered can ultimately to be instrumental in the prosecution of all those responsible (International
Atomic Energy Agency, 2006).
Domestic Nuclear Detection Office is the primary entity for nuclear detection in America. Detection
is another of the key elements the Department of Homeland Security focuses on improving
constantly, through the use of its Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, in order to continue to strive
towards fending off terrorist attacks, and providing protection for the American people as well as
assist in the international effort to enhance global nuclear security (Department of Homeland
Security 2, 2016). The DNDO s mission is to, Prevent nuclear terrorism by continuously improving
capabilities to deter, detect, respond to, and attribute attacks, in coordination with domestic and

Essay On Manifest Destiny
Manifest Destiny has many topics to choose from, the Annexation and war with Mexico being one
of them. Annexation is the action of invading, most times it was about invading land. There were
more Americans living in Texas then there were Mexicans. Eventually Texas became an
independent republic in 1836, this simply added to the events leading up to the war with Mexico.
The purpose of this essay is to understand the Annexation of Texas, how the war with Mexico
began, what happened in the Mexican war, who contributed to the Annexation of Texas, and how all
this ties in with Manifest Destiny.
The Annexation of Texas was the process of transitioning Texas into being a part of the United
States. While Mexico objected the idea of Texas being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mexican war had many battles, while America won all battles fought, Mexico was adamant
in putting up a fight against America, as they were not willing to give up Texas to America. The
Mexican war lasted longer than Polk had hoped for, it lasted well over a year. While war
continued Polk feared that Taylor could not achieve tactical skills to defeat Mexico. Polk also
feared that Taylor would gain political power if he was successful with his tactic against
Mexico, and he did gain that political power that Polk feared he would have. While Polk was
fearful he also went ahead and made orders to move offensive tactics against New Mexico and
California. Kearny saw that America needed help, so he helped to bring American forces
together under his command, eventually they had complete control over California. Mexico
was still adamant not to be defeated by America. Polk and General Winfield Scott decided that
the war had gone on long enough. Scott advanced on the Mexicans, and while he did so he was
able to keep a low body count of his own soldiers, while he had never lost a battle before finally
seizing the Mexican capital. After seizing the Mexican capital, a New Mexican government took
control and was now willing to negotiate peace with America. Polk still was wanting to annex
more of Mexico, but wanted the war to be over so, he sent Nicholas Trist to decide on a settlement.

Without thinking through the plan enough his plan was stopped by the army which caused
many men wounded including Hitler. The Putsch was his one way ticket to prison and sentence
to death. Instead of having a trial, Hitler made a number of impassioned courtroom speeches
(Bidgood 2006: 126). Initially he was sentence to 5 years in prison where he focused on his book
Mein Kampf which would become his major ideology work (Bidgood 2006:126). He wrote that
the Germans were members of the Aryan race, which was superior to other people such as the
Jews, Slavs, blacks and gypsies. According to Hitler, the Jews were the lowest race. They were,
he said, responsible for all of Germany s problems and needed expelled from the country... Hitler
expressed his hatred of Communism and democracy, arguing that Germany needed a strong
government with decisions being made by one powerful leader. (Taylor 2001: 18) His book was
poorly written but it expresses his thoughts. The Nazi party became corrupted while Hitler was
in prison causing other political parties to escalate and form their own ideas knowing that there
is no one to stop them. Alfred Rosenberg was officially left in charge. He was a poor leader and
was really to blame for allowing the Party to lose its credibility in German politics. The Nazis

Information Lifecycle Management
Information Lifecycle Management
How do you think information lifecycle management will affect coordination and conflicts between
operations managers and information technology managers?
It has become progressively more documented that information is the most important strategic
resource that any organization has to deal with. Key to the compilation, analysis, production and
allocation of information within an organization is the quality of IT services provided to the
business. It is necessary that it is recognized that IT services are vital, strategic, organizational
assets and consequently organizations must invest suitable levels of resources into the support,
delivery and management of these vital IT services and the IT systems that support them. The
challenges for IT managers are to co ordinate and work in collaboration with the businesses to
deliver high quality IT services. This has to be accomplished while adopting a more business and
customer oriented approach to delivering services and cost optimization (Cartlidge, Hanna, Rudd,
Macfarlane, Windebank Rance, 2007). On strategy that businesses can use is that of Information
Life Cycle Management (ILM) which is a broad approach to managing the course of an information
system s data and related metadata from formation and early storage to the time when it becomes
outdated and is done away with. Different from earlier approaches to data storage management,
ILM involves all facets of managing data, starting

The Experience Of An Indian Citizen
As we boarded the plane to India, my father said, Boys, I planned this trip for one specific reason.
When we return home, both of you are going to be different. You just wait. I was not sure what
to expect from this trip, but I did know that my dad was not joking. Somehow he was going to do
something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was
going to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would
experience Indiafrom the perspective of an Indian citizen.
As a child, my family and I would travel into Philadelphia quite often. We would go to out to
dinner and go sightseeing. I would run up the art museum stairs like Rocky, just not nearly as
fast. The majestic building was created by large stone slabs and magnificently large pillars. We
would sit in the blistering heat of the sun watching the rowers continuously pound away at the
water rowing against the tide, preparing for their big race. There were always beggars,
constantly bombarding you, asking for money. My parents always taught me to never offer less
fortunate people money, but instead, offer them food or a drink. Most of the time when you offer
the beggars money, they will take it to buy drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and
pocket the money. I carried these same experiences over to India with me. But India is much
different than America. You cannot walk a foot without seeing a beggar on the side of the road.

correlations between the market portfolio and SMB, and between the SMB and HML are 0.348

1.2 SECOND PASS REGRESSION OF 20 ASSETS We are using the coefficients of excess returns

  • 2. Ancient Egyptian Religion Background of religion Bordered by deserts, Egypt s Nile River valley was very isolated from other civilizations due to the deserts surrounding them. This isolation continued for thousands of years. As a result, Egyptian religion and culture remained almost untouched by the beliefs the other early civilizations at the time. This religion consisted of thousands of gods and goddesses. Around these deities arose a rich mythology formed that helped to explain the world to the early Egyptians. Religion was organized into groups known as religious cults. These groups worshiped specific gods who played a central role in their society. Roll of Pharaohs in Religion The king, or pharaoh, was a very important model in the ancient Egyptian religion. The ancient Egyptians believed that the king was a divine link between humans and the gods. Since pharaohs were considered to have a special relationship with the deities they had many responsibilities. These responsibilities included asking the gods and goddesses to protect their land and to also keep it prosperous. They were also responsible for supporting and organizing religious cults and for building and maintaining temples dedicated to the gods. Pharoh s believed that through this link the gods and goddesses kept order. The Pharaoh in some ways was more important than any individual god. The ruler s official names and titles reflected his special relationship to the deities, particularly to the sun god Ra and the sky god Horus. Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Data Collection Tool Used For Information About Individuals A survey is a process of obtaining information or a general view, examination, or description of something. It is a data collection tool used to gather information about individuals. It has a variety of purposes and can actually be conducted in many ways. One of the ways is by printed questionnaire, over the telephone, by mail, in person, by diskette, or on the web. However, the information is collected through the use of standardized procedures. This is to ensure that every participant is asked the same questionin the same way (uniform). It entails asking the participants for information in a structured format. Notably, the participants being surveyed may be representing themselves or their organization depending on what is being asked. They may also focus on factual information about individuals. Generally, surveys are standardized to ensure that they have reliability and validity. This is very important so that the results can be generalized to the entire population. However, this paper will discuss the following questions/concerns based on the survey questionnaireanswered: my thoughton the length of each survey instrument, my thought on the open minded questions, whether I preferred completing the surveys or open ended questions, which methodology I believe is most useful in the examination of each variable/construct, and how this experience might influence my research design. • 4. Roman Women Essay Who is the Roman Woman? The answer seems hard to be formulated so easily, for being a woman in Ancient Rome bears only resemblance to the current range of experiences available to women. The lives of the Roman Women were a reflection of the social system based on inequality and elitism they lived in. Between the public and private spheres, they were excluded from the political life of the state but somehow remained embodiments of civic virtues established by their male superiors. As well as in art an literary representations, they were characterized as being lesser human beings because of their differences from men. The discussion on feminine identity in Ancient Rome finds its bias in the extent that most of the sources, artistic representations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In sum, we will argue that Ancient Roman Art emphasizes female likeness as solidly attached to female social identity as the women whom they were meant to represent belonged to a certain kind of elite, of status, descent and wealth. In other words, we would argue that Roman artistic representation of the female figure would constitute a social and political agencies directed at the male actors who commissioned them. As women s status was directly related to the males, they were closely associated with, the identity of an upper class woman was highly tied to her social position as wife, daughter, thus sharing their distinction with their male kin. We will conduct our discussion in the comparison between the distinctions that are to be fond among this particular category: between the various fashions of the Pudicitia and the representation of imperial women, with the Statue of Agrippina (Fig. 4) Maior (Tiberian Period) and the Coin of Caligula (Fig. 5) (37 41 ... • 5. Raging Bull Themes Martin Scorsese s Raging Bull is a movie based on the real life story of a headstrong middleweight boxer as he strives to become a champion. His name is Jake LaMotta (Robert De Niro), a world renowned boxer in the 1940s. Themes of violence, jealousy, and insecurity carry the film. LaMotta is written off as a physically and verbally abusive man, who seems limited only to the brutal emotions of wrath, anger, and envy. His life passes through sequential phases of punishment, negotiation, and self disintegration, due to his copious amounts of inner demons. Raging Bull tells the story of an unlovable washout who manipulates the odds stacked exceedingly in his favor, to destroy himself. LaMotta finds that his own malice, cruelty, lack of humanity, incoherent rage, and inner demons can best be expressed or exorcised inside of the boxing ring. Boxing is the medium used to forward the story, but this is not a boxing film. Boxing takes the back seat. Instead, this film is the ultimate character study.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an argument I can perceive gaining no support. If anything, not showing LaMotta s childhood or experiences only serves tribute to the actuality that he has been and always will be what he is. At no point do we ever concern ourselves about what made Jake LaMotta who he is. Instead, the movie is about what it means to live life in the way he does. This moving realism is especially established in the opening and closing scenes. It is in these scenes that we witness a much older, much more beaten down Jake who is balding and overweight, who is currently making living managing a nightclub and even emceeing at a strip ... Beach Burial Poem Analysis Throughout history, poetry was often used in conflict with glorified or ambiguous images of war being presented to the people at home, revealing the truth and brutality of war. Bruce Dawe, Kenneth Slessor, Carol Ann Duffy and Wilfred Owen are well known anti war poets who express their concerns ad objections of warthrough poetry. Dawe s Homecoming and Slessor s Beach Burial explore the vastness of war and the futile magnitude of soldiers who had fallen in battle, never to return home. Duffy uses four regular, six line stanzas to impose order amongst the agonies in black and white, the photographer has to not only develop as a part of his job, but to psychologically grapple with in the remainder of his life. Similarly, Owen has employed three regular, four line stanzas, however this structural order emulates the removal of freedom that comes with youth, expressing the corruption of the soldiers ability to return to their innocence. Duffy ends each stanza in a rhyming couplet to strengthen the routine placed amidst the chaos of war and drive home her point of the psychological aftermath of war on everyone involved. Contrastingly, Owen utilises pararhymes flash / flesh , teeth / death to denote the inaptness of young boys being armed with weapons, forced to soon mature to escape their foreseeable death, never to return as innocent youths. Duffy s use of sibilance spools of suffering causes the reader to hiss words, emphasising the prevalent callousness of war. Similarly, Owen has incorporated sibilance Sharp with the sharpness to augment the malevolency associated with weaponry, disengaging young soldiers from their innocence, never to be the same again. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... II. METHODOLOGY The methodology that we have used in this study is as follows.During the course, students are evaluated by means of a multiple choice testing that is an effective assessment technique. Before the final exam date, all students are requested to self grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they think they should get for the course. Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of each student as the final mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by the instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s decision of accepting or declining the score proposed by students. We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1). Figure 1. Approaches for predicting instructor s decision. The initial approach uses three numerical variables: the scoreobtained by students in the course s activities, the proposed scores by students and the difference between these two previous scores. Then, it applies traditional classification algorithms for predicting the instructor s decision about whether to accept the proposed students scores (YES) or not (NO). The new approach uses the three previous variables as well as a self evaluation questionnaire as another source of information. Then, it applies cost sensitive classification [2] that is normally used for obtaining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Causes Of New Imperialism New imperialism was a period of colonial expansion by European powers during the late 19th century and early 20th century. It is distinguished by the continuous territorial acquisitions of Africa and Asia by European powers. These powers include Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium (Tusan, Scramble for Africa, October 23rd). There were many reasons behind this aggressive competition. To them, these newfound lands were an opportunity to expand their power and exploit further resources. To put it bluntly, economic, political, cultural, and ideological motivations all helped start the era of New Imperialismand its new form of empire. An imperial government must protect its own territories while expanding it as well. If another power gets a territory, they gain that land s resources, meaning more power. Due to this, each European power perceived other powers trying to expand as a threat to their security and prestige. This results in every European power to seek out new territories. A prime exemplar of this is the Fashoda Crisis. France wanted control of the Nile, but that would mean excluding Britain from it (Tusan, The Scramble for Africa III, October 30th). In the end, France backed off because it needed to be on friendly terms with Britain in case of a war against Germany. Instead of fighting over a valuable trade route, France decided the safety of the country was more important if war does happen with Germany. As a result, Britain s control in Egypt was asserted. For cultural and ideological reasons, imperial nations believed that their values and beliefs were superior to anyone else s. A huge concept of New Imperialismwas the European civilizing mission . In general, Europeans think they re doing a good deed by imposing their beliefs onto the inhabitants of Africa. It means eaters of raw meat and was used by the Algonquin Indians of eastern Canada for their neighbours who wore animal skin clothing and were ruthless hunters. The Inuit developed a way of life well suited to their Arctic environment, based on fishing; hunting seals, whales, and walruses in the ocean; and hunting caribou, polar bears, and other game on land. Although some groups are settled on rivers and depend on fishing, and others follow inland caribou herds, most Eskimo s traditionally have lived primarily as hunters of maritime mammals (seals, walrus, and whales), they have always been situated near the sea. Such seasonal congregating and breaking up of settlements occurred even in Greenland and western Alaska ; during the summer, people would leave the permanent communities and live in animal skin tents at favourite spots for seal hunting, for fishing, or for collecting birds, eggs, and plants. The igloo (from an Eskimo word meaning home ) was constructed of packed snow and used only during the winter, villages of igloos were built on the firm ocean ice of the central Arctic to help seal hunting through holes in the ice. They were also used as temporary structures in Greenland and in parts of Canada and Alaska. The current study investigated the relationship measures of attachment security, parental sensitivity, emotional availability, and child attachment classifications in high risk parent child dyads. The first hypothesis was only partially supported, all home and lab based measures were positively related but were not all significant. Consistent with past research, home based measures of attachment security and parental sensitivity were strongly positively related, which adds to the literature supporting the validity of the AQS and MBQS mini (Tarabulsy, et al., 2009). Moreover, these findings were anticipated as the two measures are complementary and can be assessed using the same parent child observations. Parental sensitivity was related to all EA dimensions. In contrast, attachment security was not related to any dimensions of EA, except the dimension of adult structuring. The latter findings failed to replicate results in past research which linked measures of attachment security to dimensions of EA (Biringen et al., 2014). Childhood attachment classifications obtained through the Strange Situation Procedure (SSP) were also examined in this study. Disorganized attachment has shown to be the most detrimental on children. I encourage the informed and open minded discussion between theologians and scientists as they relate themselves to the most profound issues their specific discipline. And in a more particular way I seek to motivate fresh thinking about the creation of wealth and developing the world, programs that are aimed at cultivation talents of the gifted, and character education in Universities and schools. In this paper, I will explain why the primitive theories still hold despite the advancements in technology. Theories of the way of primitive religion have moved between two shafts: one intellectualistic and discerning, the other mental and nonsensical. Tylor and Frazer, both of whom saw primitive religion as portrayed prevalently by a confidence in enchantment and concealed powers or forces, speak to the educated sane position. Tylor based his understanding of primitive religion on the thought that primitive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Factors That Affect The Water Drag is a common force in the universe, and occurs in everyday life especially in water. Mr. Redman states that, forward is a propelling force; drag is a force that hinders that motion or is the force acting in opposition to the motion of an object. Parachutes are a great example of this force; when air is trapped in the nylon of a parachute, it creates dragslowing the velocity of the parachutist. Water drag is acted upon swimmers at all times. Hydrodynamics show that materials of the swimmers closely affect drag. Swimmers wear sleek swim caps, shave their body, and wear tightly fitted swimsuits all to reduce friction. Skill level and technique of a swimmer also affect drag resistance. Water is 800 times denser than air, drag forces... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trucks experience air resistance due to their big and boxy frame. Air constantly pushes against the shipping containers. Engineers have found a way to combat such a force by adding large hoods or visors, in which the cab and trailer are connected. The back of the truck is built in a streamlined fashion, like a plane, to completely extinguish swirling air (Parola, 2000). Another example of drag is frictional forces. Trains, for example, use wheels to move along tracks. These wheels encounter friction when stopping. Metal on metal gains immense friction and may become hot. This drag is common among cars and other ground transportation. Engineers have looked to the future to solve this drag. MAGLEV trains are levitating trains that use magnets for propulsion. This way friction drag is eliminated, yet air resistance is still a factor. To cut down on air resistance, MAGLEV trains incorporate aerodynamic principles such as a slim line body to cut through air, that way the force of air is evenly distributed around the body. Drag also occurs in water called, fluid friction or fluid resistance. Boats, ships, subs, whales, dolphin, and swimmers all go through fluid rest incense. Much like air resistance, fluid pushes against the direction in a object is moving. And again much like air resistance, a streamlined body will reduce this drag. Submarines were once built like boats only they were underwater. Until 1953 when the us army proposed a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Effects Of Attending A Secondary School Essay One incredibly important part of this particular study is that it does not provide any specific ways in which these effects take place (Stearns, 2010). This mental development is too broad to point out particular parts in the lives of student that will lead to this type of isolation. Instead, the study states that the process of attending a secondary schoolwhere diversity is low (or accurate to the diversity of the nation), will eventually lead the student to live in racial isolation. In one way this vagueness is helpful. Scouring through the lives and decisions of a particular student is not as necessary when it comes to predicting the possible demographics that they will live in for the rest of their lives. Instead, we can look at the secondary school, as a whole, that they are a part of to do the predicting for us, as well as show where a student will need to be given help if our society wants to break social fragmentation and, in turn, help develop the social cohesion of our nation. Finally, this research is valuable and the last on the list of main points because the study shows that the Perpetuation Theory continues in a cycle. If a student goes to a school with low diversity, it is likely that they will live in an area with similar demographics. Once that individual has settled in that area, according to the theory, they will send their children to schools with similar demographics as the school that they went to. Then, those children will live in neighborhoods ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I Must Be Going By Richard Ford In the essays Homeplace by Scott Russell Sanders and I Must Be Going by Richard Ford, the authors discuss their very different viewpoints on whether people should move around or stay put in one home. In Homeplace, Sanders argues against moving with a didactic and self righteous tone that aims to put his philosophy of staying put above any other. However, in I Must Be Going, Ford approaches the topic differently, explaining his own reasons for moving from home to home. Although he is defensive in reaction to others criticizing his choices to move, he does not put his method of living above that of others, but simply seeks to justify it. Although the two authors discuss the same topic in their essays and both use evocative methods of writing to explore the motivations behind moving or staying put, they do so using very different viewpoints and attitudes towards transience. Throughout Homeplace, Sanders conveys his moralistic attitude against moving through the use of connotative diction, example, and the portrayal of his opinion that his way of life is best. He begins the essay by discussing the story of the Miller family, a family that chooses to stay put even after its farm is torn to pieces by tornadoes several times. Christians are always prosecuted and in certain parts of the world, Christianityis forbidden and if found out could result in execution. The atom might have started on a different point of view on how the atom works. There were many different people who had many good and different ideas on how to use the atom and what it was used for. Democritus was one of many other philosopher and scientists that wanted to start the discovery of the atom. He got the name atom from a Greek word, atomos which means that everything is uncut table. The atom was discovered by Ernest Rutherford while he was doing an experiment in 1911 1919. Ernest Rutherford suggested at first that the atoms orbited around atomic the nucleus, just like the planets. Atoms are basic units of matter that are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are particles that are found in the center of the atom, and the electrons are particles that are found in shells that orbit around the nucleus of the atom. The nucleus was discovered in 1911, by Ernest Rutherford and it is known for holding the protons and neutrons, and it s also in the middle of the proton. Nuclear Forensics and the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office Nuclear forensics is one of the two key elements of nuclear security. Nuclear forensics is the analysis of seized contraband nuclear or radioactive material and any corresponding material in order to provide evidence that will assist in identifying the source of the nuclear or radioactive material and determine its point of origin (International Atomic Energy Agency, 2006). Nuclear forensics also covers the use of the information gathered by the original analysis to determine the routes of transit and any corresponding equipment. The process of nuclear forensics and evidence gathered can ultimately to be instrumental in the prosecution of all those responsible (International Atomic Energy Agency, 2006). Domestic Nuclear Detection Office is the primary entity for nuclear detection in America. Detection is another of the key elements the Department of Homeland Security focuses on improving constantly, through the use of its Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, in order to continue to strive towards fending off terrorist attacks, and providing protection for the American people as well as assist in the international effort to enhance global nuclear security (Department of Homeland Security 2, 2016). • 47. Essay On Manifest Destiny Manifest Destiny has many topics to choose from, the Annexation and war with Mexico being one of them. Annexation is the action of invading, most times it was about invading land. There were more Americans living in Texas then there were Mexicans. Eventually Texas became an independent republic in 1836, this simply added to the events leading up to the war with Mexico. The purpose of this essay is to understand the Annexation of Texas, how the war with Mexico began, what happened in the Mexican war, who contributed to the Annexation of Texas, and how all this ties in with Manifest Destiny. The Annexation of Texas was the process of transitioning Texas into being a part of the United States. While Mexico objected the idea of Texas being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Mexican war had many battles, while America won all battles fought, Mexico was adamant in putting up a fight against America, as they were not willing to give up Texas to America. The Mexican war lasted longer than Polk had hoped for, it lasted well over a year. While war continued Polk feared that Taylor could not achieve tactical skills to defeat Mexico. Polk also feared that Taylor would gain political power if he was successful with his tactic against Mexico, and he did gain that political power that Polk feared he would have. While Polk was fearful he also went ahead and made orders to move offensive tactics against New Mexico and California. Kearny saw that America needed help, so he helped to bring American forces together under his command, eventually they had complete control over California. Mexico was still adamant not to be defeated by America. Polk and General Winfield Scott decided that the war had gone on long enough. Scott advanced on the Mexicans, and while he did so he was able to keep a low body count of his own soldiers, while he had never lost a battle before finally seizing the Mexican capital. After seizing the Mexican capital, a New Mexican government took control and was now willing to negotiate peace with America. Polk still was wanting to annex more of Mexico, but wanted the war to be over so, he sent Nicholas Trist to decide on a settlement. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Putsch was his one way ticket to prison and sentence to death. Instead of having a trial, Hitler made a number of impassioned courtroom speeches (Bidgood 2006: 126). Initially he was sentence to 5 years in prison where he focused on his book Mein Kampf which would become his major ideology work (Bidgood 2006:126). He wrote that the Germans were members of the Aryan race, which was superior to other people such as the Jews, Slavs, blacks and gypsies. According to Hitler, the Jews were the lowest race. They were, he said, responsible for all of Germany s problems and needed expelled from the country... Hitler expressed his hatred of Communism and democracy, arguing that Germany needed a strong government with decisions being made by one powerful leader. (Taylor 2001: 18) His book was poorly written but it expresses his thoughts. The Nazi party became corrupted while Hitler was in prison causing other political parties to escalate and form their own ideas knowing that there is no one to stop them. Alfred Rosenberg was officially left in charge. He was a poor leader and was really to blame for allowing the Party to lose its credibility in German politics. • 50. Information Lifecycle Management Information Lifecycle Management How do you think information lifecycle management will affect coordination and conflicts between operations managers and information technology managers? It has become progressively more documented that information is the most important strategic resource that any organization has to deal with. Key to the compilation, analysis, production and allocation of information within an organization is the quality of IT services provided to the business. It is necessary that it is recognized that IT services are vital, strategic, organizational assets and consequently organizations must invest suitable levels of resources into the support, delivery and management of these vital IT services and the IT systems that support them. The challenges for IT managers are to co ordinate and work in collaboration with the businesses to deliver high quality IT services. This has to be accomplished while adopting a more business and customer oriented approach to delivering services and cost optimization (Cartlidge, Hanna, Rudd, Macfarlane, Windebank Rance, 2007). On strategy that businesses can use is that of Information Life Cycle Management (ILM) which is a broad approach to managing the course of an information system s data and related metadata from formation and early storage to the time when it becomes outdated and is done away with. Different from earlier approaches to data storage management, ILM involves all facets of managing data, starting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Experience Of An Indian Citizen As we boarded the plane to India, my father said, Boys, I planned this trip for one specific reason. When we return home, both of you are going to be different. You just wait. I was not sure what to expect from this trip, but I did know that my dad was not joking. Somehow he was going to do something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was going to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would experience Indiafrom the perspective of an Indian citizen. As a child, my family and I would travel into Philadelphia quite often. We would go to out to dinner and go sightseeing. I would run up the art museum stairs like Rocky, just not nearly as fast. The majestic building was created by large stone slabs and magnificently large pillars. We would sit in the blistering heat of the sun watching the rowers continuously pound away at the water rowing against the tide, preparing for their big race. There were always beggars, constantly bombarding you, asking for money. My parents always taught me to never offer less fortunate people money, but instead, offer them food or a drink. Most of the time when you offer the beggars money, they will take it to buy drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and pocket the money. I carried these same experiences over to India with me. But India is much different than America. You cannot walk a foot without seeing a beggar on the side of the road. ... The sun ... The correlation between the market portfolio and HML and the correlation between intercept and HML is 0.335 and 0.070, which indicates a moderate negative relationship between market portfolio and HML, and weak negative relationship between intercept and HML. Also, the correlations between the market portfolio and SMB, and between the SMB and HML are 0.348 and 0.191 respectively, which means that there are some positive relationships between them. 1.2 SECOND PASS REGRESSION OF 20 ASSETS We are using the coefficients of excess returns of market, SMB and HML to run the second pass (cross section) regression. E[Ri Rf] is from 20 observations of average excess return on assets, and the bi, si and hi are from 20 observations of beta on market risk premium, beta on SMB and beta on HML in first pass regression estimation, respectively. The estimated coefficients: Оіb, Оіs and Оіh correspond to risk factors in the first pass regression; hence, the second pass regression is estimated by setting up the following hypothesis: Оі0 = 0; Оіb = E[Mkt rf]; Оіs = E[SMB]; Оіh = E[HML] This hypothesis is from FF3, which indicates the excess return for assets i only depends on betas and as such market risk premium, SML portfolio premium and HML portfolio premium and any variables in the equation (except excess return for assets i) should be equal to mean zero.
