Alexander The Great Has Truly Shaped And Inspired The...
Alexander the Great has truly shaped and inspired the entire world as one of the greatest and
most successful military leaders in history. Alexander has influenced many writers, as he is
included in the national literatures of some eighty countries. At the age of just thirty, Alexander
had conquered what was known as oecumene (the inhabited world). Alexander the Great has
become worldly recognized and lives on to this day as a modern hero who took on, conquered
the world and spread Hellenic culture. Alexander III of Macedon was born in the royal palace in
Pella, the capital of Macedon, in July 356 B.C. The people of Ancient Macedonia were
considered to be barbarians or backward foreigners from a Greeks perspective even though the
Macedonians spoke and followed Greek culture. Alexander was born three years into the great
military commander of King Philip II s of Macedon s reign and Olympias, a princess who
belonged to a strange religious cult, from the neighbouring country of Epirus. The two were very
passionate and dynamic characters, and their traits and actions shaped their son s destiny along
with his tutors Aristotle, Lysimachus and Leonidas of Epirus. Demosthenes in 341 BC stated,
Philip is no Greek... He is a filthy wretch from Macedonia, . The Macedonians were clearly hated
by the Greeks and the country was considered to be a peasant, farming state. Defeating these
stereotypes about Macedonians, Alexander lived the privileged life of a young prince in the royal

Fifty Shades Of Grey Research Paper
Is it passion? Romance books are about passion and relationships, but have you read a book that
creates fantasies and false hope? If you have, can you remember the name of the book? Well,
this essay is going to discuss how Fantasy Theme works by analyzing and examining a book. The
book that is going to be examined is called Fifty Shades of Grey written by EL James. This book
goes well with fantasy theme because two different people who live completing different cross
paths and they have to create a new living style together to meet each other s needs. Which leads,
to many controversy, but at the same time there are people who enjoyed reading the book.
According to Brienza, more then 100 million copies have been sold, and been translated into over
50 languages, and topped bestseller all over the world (89). As the reader is getting an idea what is
going to be analyzed, this paper is going to have a purpose. The purpose of this paper is going to be
that a romance book, in this case Fifty Shades of Grey, can make people believe that a sexual,

Textual Analysis Of Music
I find the process of thinking of something on a conceptual level and turning it into a conceivable
object really intriguing. It requires excellent communication not only with people but also within
one s self; I think this is also the hardest part making something new and different creating. It
requires finding an inspiration and then creating something that other people can understand and
relate to because they have either experienced what the art piece represents or because they have
thoughtof the same concept. I found it interesting how the four students interpreted the same piece
of music differently and how drastically different their representation of their concepts were. For
example, while one took a political stance, the other took a more philosophical view of good vs.
evil. I think this shows their personality and their thinking style and how they interact with the
world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wouldn t be surprised if Crumb himself had asked himself the same question when composing the
piece and designing the musical philosophy behind the piece.
I think they all formed excellent connections with the philosophical inquires of the music they
perceived. Furthermore, they also used interesting interpretation of sound. For example, one of the
girls used silver to show the metallic, unorganized, and sharp aspects of the music. I didn t make
this connection before seeing it but once I saw how she used it, the artistic connection and
representation was clear to me too. It is this part of art I find most intriguing a form of
communication of ideas independent of speech and

Why Am I Here
Why are You Here? I have fallen short in many ways towards the goals that I have made in my life.
No matter how high the standard is set, and whether failure awaits me, perseverance and my
faith will carry me on. Some would label me as a dreamer. Someone could say I have reality to
face, but without dreams we have no hope, and without hope we have nothing inside of us to fuel
our deep passion to succeed and win the race that we have been running. Everyone has his own
opinion about college and how important it is, but only a few will take the initiative to follow
through and back what they stand for. Though a college degree in engineering seems unreachable, I

Through four and a half months of training in technical school, they were able to mold me into
what they expect in the ordinance branch. So far, this has been an amazing experience, and I am
proud of being a small part of the big picture. With that said, I am here for one reason and one
reason only. I no longer have my parents direction, or have someone showing me what is right,
and I would be wrong in making my time here meaningless. Many of my peers would say this is
one big party and that they are here for the girls and the cheap beer, but if I wanted to party, I
wouldn t have chosen to pay so much for one. I think it would be ridiculous of me to waste a
perfectly good opportunity to become the man that I was made to be. My past was unbalanced
and reckless, and it would be easy for me to fall back into my old ways, so it would be wise of
me to stay focused while I am here. My life was very structured and it drove me to want
something different, but when I had to face my consequences, I soon came to want exactly what
I was running from. Ironically enough, I am beginning to see what they were trying to do as
parents. It would be nice to finally make them proud to be an influence in my life, and I will do
my best to make that happen. Perception is a lot, and reputation is more, so I plan to do my best
to represent the uniform I wear everywhere I go. When I finally accomplish these goals, maybe I

Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics
Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics.
Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical
(local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum
communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are
also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid
loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been
generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36],
coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a
waveguide [38].
In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im
plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a
solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum
information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity
modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum
teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central
for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by
avoiding any undesired cross talk between the

Perceval Lancelot Character Analysis
Love is always one of the most everlasting themes in the Arthurian stories. While referring to the
famous love stories, Lancelot and Guinevere, Tristan and Iseult are a kind of example, and
another kind of example is Perceval. As we all know, Lancelot is often exemplified as the perfect
image of a qualified knight, and the most unique quality of Lancelot as a perfect image of a lover
is his staunch belief in love. However, he is isolated from the divine love and only limited in sexual
self love. On the other hand, the spiritual pursuit is the center theme in the story of Perceval. Both
love and Christian charity emerge in the development of Perceval. The transformation of
knighthood from erotic love, amor into Christian charity, caritas deeply... Show more content on

Perceval hasn t already developed the capacity to feel compassion and to act charitably, and he
would be unable to understand the implications of Christ s Passion. Luckily, Perceval starts to
change, as he meets knights and ladies on the trail, they point out that he shouldn t bear arms on
Good Friday. They have gone to see a holy hermit, so they suggest Perceval see the hermit and
make a confession for his sin, which becomes the turning point for Perceval to realize his sin and
plans to remove it by meeting the hermit. In this way, the biggest quest for Perceval is to clear his
sin and to reunite under the name of God, rather than finding the grail physically. The hermit, who
later claimed to be his uncle, tells Perceval to repent for his soul. The meeting between the hermit
and Perceval signifies that the relationship among major characters in the story of Perceval, and
revives the identity of Perceval. The meeting also identifies the sin of Perceval: leaving his mom
and being hesitant to ask the proper question about the grail and bleeding lance. Beside these, the
most important function of the hermit is to tell the way of acting, as Chretien says through the

Goals must be stated in measurable terms, i.e., how can you tell you have accomplished that
goal? Identify dates for accomplishing each goal. Setting goals is what drives people to growth and
change within themselves. If one fails to dream and sets goals, it is unlikely the will grow or

change. Growing, educating and knowledge with time allows one to feel safe to dream and thrive
to make better and larger goals. My first goal after obtaining my BSN in April 2017 is to work on
myself and my family. In my career, my goal will be to work on my clinical ladder and seek ways
to improve myself and my facility. There are many committees I would like to join and be a part of
at work. I know I will have reached my goal when I have moved up several levels on the clinical
ladder. My plans for professional development in the next three to 10 15 years will still be
working at the bedside spreading my knowledge to others who are willing to learn. If financially
I am able I would like to pursue my MSN. Being a leader is something that inspires me and I
wish to be knowledgeable enough to help and teach others later in life. The final goal would be

Comparing Disney s A Thousand And One Arabian Nights
Many aspects color how exactly a translator interprets a text, allowing for a great deal of variation
to occur between different translator s versions of the same text. This holds true for the Middle
Eastern classic A Thousand and One Arabian Nights, as anyone can observe a multitude of
differences between the extensive numbers of English translations that have been released over the
past three centuries. Cultural beliefs and ideas play a large role in the variances, but do not account
for all of the discrepancies, especially in terms of maturity level. A translations maturity level is
based on more than just the translator s cultural landscape. Though other factors influence
translation as well, cultural values still play a large role in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The infamous Richard Burton comes from a similar cultural background to the aforementioned
Edward Lane, but his translation of A Thousand and One Arabian Nights is perhaps the most
explicit English translation to date. This is not because of radically different cultural values, but
simply based upon the intent of the translators. Burton s intent is also visible in his means of
publication. British conservatism was at its height during the time in which Burton was publishing
his translation, making it so he had to publish said translation privately in order to avoid violating
laws such as the Obscene Publications Act. As one can see via his blatant violation of the law, as
well as Burton s general demeanor, cultural values played an extraordinarily small role in the
maturity level of his

The Use Of Chant Therapy Help Increase And Avoid The...
This study was done on the use of chant therapy to help decrease and avoid the symptoms of vocal
fatigue in public school teachers. Vocal fatigue includes two main symptoms; there is a continuous
increase in phonatory use and effort and then a loss in phonation. This condition is often
recognized in other professional voice users such as singers and actors. However, vocal fatigue in
teachers has not been as well known and has only recently been addressed to the public. Reports
from public school teachers indicated symptoms of vocal fatigue shortly after they started teaching.
Coaches, drama, and music teachers are educators that are more susceptible to vocal fatigue.
However, any teacher that has to project and continuously use... Show more content on

All four teachers reported vocal fatigue after a few years of teaching. Teachers were excluded
from this study if they were already in voice training and if they had any organic or acute vocal
pathologies seen on an ear, nose and throat (ENT) evaluation or endoscopic exam. The goal for
this study was to use chant therapy to decrease the individuals fatigue by making it a habit for
them to use differential muscle activity. To meet this goal the authors focused on finding a normal
speaking pitch, increased prosodic accent and a better standard deviation for their fundamental
frequencies. A Voice Range Profile (FRP) was used to find a more efficient speaking pitch. The
pitch targeted was characterized by being in the individual s lower range where the largest
loudness gain was found in the semitone below it. The individuals were taught this pitch and it was
used as the mediation note for chant therapy. The researchers also implemented a placebo therapy.
It included the same amount of non effortful speech as the chant therapy and there were no
environmental or behavioral changes implemented. Each individual was paired with another and
was told to speak to each other in a normal voice for one hour, which was the same amount of time
as the chant therapy. They were then given an end of the session questionnaire and 3 of the 4
subjects stated that they thought the placebo therapy was beneficial. The chant and placebo therapy

Compare And Contrast Natural Vs Anthropogenic Climate Change
Compare and contrast natural versus anthropogenic climate changes. Include at least two (2)
specific examples of each.
Anthropogenic temperature change refers to the assembly of greenhouse gases emitted by human
action. By examining the polar ice cores, scientists are convinced that human action has inflated the
proportion of greenhouse gases within the atmosphere, that has skyrocketed over the past few
hundred years. (Climate Science Investigation, 2018)
The IPCC, Fourth Report discusses in 2007 has multiple lines of proof that confirms that the post
industrial rise in greenhouse gases doesn t stem from natural mechanisms. In other words, the
climate changes are manmade as a results of human action. (Climate Science Investigation, 2018) ...

Stangeron s Vengeance
A Study in Scarlet, written by Arthur Doyle, introduces the idea of a more evolved criminal.
Doyle disliked that criminals were cold blooded killers and instead decided to give his antagonist
a backstory. The antagonist endures a great struggle of achieving his revenge on the murderers of
his beloved Lucy. Jefferson Hope devotes his life to killDrebber and Stangerson to gain control over
their fate.
To begin with Jefferson Hope s path of vengeance starts on the second part of A Study in Scarlet.

Lucy was wed to Drebber, but died shortly after due to a broken heart. Jefferson lost everything
he held dear to him, because of his social class and the power of Mormons. He vowed to kill
Drebber and Stangerson. He spent years pursuing his victims across from the world. He knew
Drebber and Stangerson traveled together and began to plot his revenge.
He used his unique abilities to track his victims to London. His health was slowly declining, but
that didn t stop Jefferson to decide the fates of Drebber and Stangerson. The element of surprise
was his key to killing them. Jefferson Hope let Drebber decide his own fate by choosing a pill
which would either kill him or save him. He wanted to give Stangerson the same option as he did
to Drebber but he was attacked and stabbed Stangerson in the heart.
In conclusion Jefferson Hope disregarded his health and life to achieve his goal. He was
determined that he would be responsible to control the fate of Drebber and Stangerson. His
method to get revenge was to give them a choice of pills and mention if god let them lived then it
would be. Marxism is seen in the Mormon s control over Lucy, John, and Hope, but ultimately gets

The Handmaids Tale By Margaret Atwood
The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood Introduction The Handmaids Tale by Margaret
Atwood and I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou are both very well known
texts. They explore the characters horrible situations, retell the experiences through a variety of
literary features which all link back to my main theme of freedom to, and freedom from. The
Handmaids Tale is set in a not so distant future dystopia, the totalitarian Republic of Gilead. It is
centred around Offred, a handmaid given to the Commander and his wife, Serena Joy, for
reproductive purposes because of the dangerously low fertility. Handmaids are given to elite
couples who have trouble conceiving in the hopes they can bear children. I Know Why The Caged

Similarly, the theme of I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings is freedom and lack thereof,
confinement. The poem talks of a free bird flying through sun rays and how it dares to claim the
sky . It also talks of a caged bird with clipped wings and tied feet hoping for freedom and how it
sings with fearful trill of things unknown and longed for still... for the caged bird sings of freedom
. Narration The narration style of both texts are different, but are similar in that the readers have the
opportunity to interpret the texts in their own ways and gain understanding of what the characters
are going through. The Handmaids Tale is written in first person narrative and we get reflections
from Offred s past before Gilead, accounts from her time in the Red Centre, where woman were
taught to be subservient, and insights to her thoughts and experiences at the present. The method of
first person narration gets the reader fully immersed into Offred s story and what she is going
through allowing the reader to empathise with her, but is limited by that it does not allow the
reader into other characters thoughts and feelings, with this interaction, ...she (Ofglen) is looking
right at me... directly, steadily... unwavering... reader has to come their own interpretation of what
Ofglen means. The narration of I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings is fairly simple third person
narrative, it takes on a somewhat literal interpretation of freedom and lack thereof, ...wings are

Human Rights And Its Effects On Society Essay
Human Rights is one of the most fundamental rights individuals should have in society. As
individuals, it s our natural right to have the right to life. No one should be executed or
discriminated because they do not fit in certain characteristics that those that are superior have
outlined as fit for society. Many countries suffer from the lack of protecting their citizens human
rights. For instance, citizens have been executed and discriminated because of their gender, race,
and religion affiliations, which is unjust. Individuals have lost their lives because of not having
their country making sure their right to life and freedom does not get taking away. For instance, the
persecution of the Jews by the Nazi s, many of them lost their life because of a lack of human right
to protect them from being executed without a logic purpose. As a society we can not construct
some criteria as to whom can have human rights and those that cannot. Society is not supposing to
be built on unjust acts against those in society. As individuals, everyone should be able to live in a
more just and humane society. This paper will focus on the human rights and exactly what is
human rights. In addition, explore the genocide that happens under the leadership of Adolf Hitler,
which resulted in millions of Jews lives being taken away and trying to cause extinction to the
European Jewish community. In addition, focus on the aftermath of educating individuals about

novels are anything but boring. This I believe, is one of the biggest reasons why these books
have been such a success, the author knows how to keep the story going at all times in order to
maintain the readers attention. Another factor which I believe has led to the novels success is
that while reading, the reader wishes that they could live in this fantasy world created by
Rowling where life is anything but ordinary. The novels make the reader somewhat desire a life
like the one led by the characters of the novels, like going to a school to learn wizarding, always
having extraordinary things happen and just being at Hogwarts seems like an unequaled joy for
some. These novels have the ability to reignite the long lost imaginations of adults, and keep the
imaginations of children strong.
Although I am a strong supporter of this book series, I do find one thing wrong with the books.
All the novels have endings which are almost the same, Harry saves the day and Voldemort the
major antagonist gets defeated in one way or another. Also only Harry and his friends seem to be
the ones who go on adventures to defeat huge beasts or save family members from monsters known
as dementors, this to me makes the novel slightly unappealing but still one of

Curious Case of Benjamin Button Essay
When directors choose to adapt a novel or short story to fit the silverscreen, they often face the
arduous task of keeping the author s original plot in tow as well as, putting forth a believable
product. In the case of Scotts Fitzgerald s short story, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,
director, David Fincher and screenwriter, Eric Roth chose to scrap the original framework of the
story and start anew. Although Fincher and Roth keeps the basic idea of Benjamin Button s
existence the same, their screen adaption tells a more sincere version of how it would feel to live
life in reverse. However, both the director and screenwriter acknowledge that Benjamin s tale
cannot be told without giving the audience an explanation for why he is born... Show more content

This explanation of the clock also resembles Mark Twain s affirmation that, the best part of life
comes at the beginning while the worst comes at the end. Keeping this in mind, Fincher then
presents the audience with the character of Benjamin Button, a child who is born with all the
physical characteristics of an elderly person and who is thereby doomed to age backwards in the
same way as Monsieur Gateau s clock.
This addition of magical realism by the screenwriter and director to explain Benjamin s story
allows the viewer to have a visual metaphor of how it would look if time ran backwards. Like the
Monsieur Gateau s clock, Benjamin is an anomaly that is meant to defy the mechanisms of time.
Yet, Benjamin and the clock both fall short on that front. Throughout the movie, the audience is
shown how Benjamin is plagued with the same ailments as others even though he is ageing
differently. Just like a regular humanbeing, he experiences the lost of family and friends due to
death and has to come to terms with the fact that he too will soon die. Ultimately, this shows that
regardless of the way that an individual ages, death is inevitable. Even the clock eventually
succumbs to death when it is submerged in water during the flooding of New Orleans at the end of
the movie as Hurricane Katrina finally hits. Once this happens, the viewer must face the fact that

Pros And Cons Of The Postzygotic Barrier Of Species
What defines a species is a very difficult question to answer. Variations are everywhere, but at
some point those variations grow to where the species are different. Two common problems come
up when looking at what makes a species a species. The first is what to do with hybrids and when
are they considered a different species. The second is the issue of asexual reproduction. There are
many different definitions of the word species and they all have their pros and cons when it
comes to addressing these issues and describing what makes a species distinct from another
species. One of the most common definitions for species is the following, a group of populations
whose members have the potential to interbreed in nature and produce viable, fertile offspring but
do not produce viable, fertile offspring with members of other groups. This definition makes sense
when one thinks that a monkey cannot mate with a cat. The creation of viable and fertile offspring
depends on the avoidance of both prezygotic and postzygotic barriers that put a stop to it.
Prezygotic barriers refer to barriers that happen before creation of the zygote including habitat,
temporal, behavioral, mechanical, and gametic isolation. All of these factors prevent successful
mating. Postzygotic barriers happen after an offspring has been conceived. The... Show more

fusion which would mean that they become one species, or stability which means that yes hybrids
exist, but it does not make any difference. However, in the moment the question is what to do with

Alternative Sources Of Alternative Energy
Introduction Since the industrial age, fossil fuels have been used as a source of energy and power.
The fossil fuels are used and converted into coal, oils, and gasses. The products of fossil fuels are
mostly Carbon, which is harmful to the environment, leading to global warming and climate
change, and O zone destruction. These conditions cause global temperature increase, ocean
acidification, rising sea levels, health problems due to pollution, and the destruction of ecosystems
(climate.nasa.gov). Considering these issues, alternative energysources are something that can be
used to help combat harmful fossil fuels and lessen humanity s Carbon footprint (the amount of
carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a
person, group, etc.). There are multiple alternative and renewable energy sources available on
the market today. Some of these include: solar panels, geothermal systems, and wind turbines;
However, another alternative energy source could be harvesting lightning. Unlike the previous
alternative energy sources, lightning can produce large amounts of power in a single strike. A
single lightning bolt carries enough energy comparable to the energy stored in 145 liters of
petrol (Malavika1, Vishal, p. 23). The lightning does not have to be built or mass produced, only
the system used to harvest it. Harvesting the power of lightning would allow for a decrease on the
reliance of fossil fuels for power as well as help solve

What Is The Difference Between Tam And Cam Cinderella
The two stories of Cinderella are Tam and Cam ; and The twelve Months: A Slav legend adapted

Cinderella including her suffering, but they are different in Cinderella s motive of rescue one

this character isn t relying on a prince charming to be her rescue, so this makes the concept

Vonnegut Dehumanization
In God Bless You Mr. Vonnegut: Learning Civics from Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. Paul J. Ramsey
discusses recurring themes in the works of Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. One major theme that occurs
throughout Vonnegut s work is how informal social norms such as dehumanization and apathy
towards suffering perpetuate violence. This occurrence is explored in several science fiction
stories: The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin, A Party Down at the
Square by Ralph Ellison, as well as Vonnegut s own Harrison Bergeron and Welcome to the
Monkey House . The dehumanization and objectification in these stories is a relevant and
accurate critique of informal social norms in society and an effective examination of how such
norms spread violence. Violence is supposed to be nonexistent in Le Guin s fictional society
Omelas. The reader is introduced to a seemingly utopian society. As the story progresses, however,
Le Guin reveals that Omelas survival is entirely dependent on violence. To keep... Show more

However, Vivian Thomas contributions to the research went unnoticed for more than three decades.
Vivian Thomas faced many inequalities, which he approached with a respectable manner. Many of

The corporate branding strategy will create a sort of umbrella under which all the properties of the
company will fall, thus sharing the same quality level in the customer s perception. Moreover a
strong corporate brand will ease the company identification and potentially increase the number of
new guests through word of mouth, thus enabling the company to gain a bigger market share.
Nevertheless the implementation of such a strategy will necessarily involve big costs and a
structural change in the organization. Its culture, the way in which advertising is done, the facilities
and supplies in each resorts, the way in which management operates will have to be adapted to the
new branding strategy. Furthermore undertaking this action may let down some valuable customers
who are particularly affectionate to a resort and may be afraid that it will lose its unique and
individual features. Plus it might also disappoint some skilled hotel managers which may feel
threatened in their autonomy and potentially leave the company. Retraining the whole body of
employees to adapt to the new strategy may be expensive and time consuming as well.

The Political Ethos of the Civil Society
ABSTRACT: Totalitarian political systems in the socialist countries of Eastern Europe destroyed
and repressed the civil society that used to exist in them. The authoritarian and totalitarian ethos
was formed under a powerful influence of ideologies of the communist parties and politocracy in
these countries so that the political ethos of politicians dominated the political ethos of the citizen.
The breakdown of the real socialism and its unsuccessful attempts to complete accelerated liberal
modernization of these societies caused turbulence of social values in addition to the general moral

In the seventies of the twentieth century the term civil society was used by the opposition and
dissident groups in the socialist countries to denote the strategy of political fight against
totalitarianism by forming autonomous institutions beyond the state control and for the sake of
establishing a democratic society as opposed to the total state. By redefining the modern concept
of the civil society a new and contemporary concept of the civil society has been created as an
alternative to authoritarian socialism. Thus, a new practical and theoretical political paradigm has
been set up for explaining ways of the transition of socialist, authoritarian and stagnant societies
into democratic and civil societies which are able for self development and are willing to use the
civilization achievements of the developed societies as well as the achievements of social and
political philosophy and contemporary sciences.
The civil society is most often determined as autonomous pluralism of private and public activities,
beyond the state control, expressed in individual freedom, local and regional self rule, citizens
participation in public affairs and social movements as well as in cultural autonomy and free trade
unionism.
In the former socialist countries the civil society was destroyed and repressed by state measures.

effort to obtain. Doublewide homes begin at 1,067 square feet and can reach up to 2,300 square
feet. These homes have a width of 20 feet or more and can reach an astonishing 90 feet long.
Although they can get quite large, the most common size is 56 feet long and 26 feet wide. This
totals out to be around 1,456 square feet. Unfortunately, with these homes being wider they have
to be shipped as two separate units and are jointed together seamlessly to create a double wide
home. These homes can be shipped onto the site very quickly and at a low cost compared to
constructing a larger home built in a subdivision. After some research conducted on the U.S.
Census Bureau website, I found the average new home built in 2015 had a square footage of 2,467.

neighborhoods, compared to lower class families moving to trailer parks. Although Cobblestone

How Did Virginia Woolf Treat Women
During her life, Virginia Woolf endured many acts of discrimination not based on the content of
her character or the body of her work but based purely upon her gender. Through her years of
schooling towards her ascension to literary fame she witnessed an astonishing difference in the
treatment of men in college and women in college especially in terms of food. To show the
difference in treatment Woolf uses her description of the meals as a metaphor of the difference of

On the male side, they finished their meal and headed to light a good cigarette and had no need

Woolf is bringing the social ties argument to the light where the males are meant not only to
represent the males who control the social dominance but also the ultra wealthy who leisurely sit

Daniel Castro s Examination of Las Casas Work
Daniel Castro examines the work of Las Casas. He discusses the humanitarian element Las
Casas is known for but mainly highlights the rarely exposed ambivalent political and economic
imperialistic motives behind his humanitarianism and his will to convert the Indigenous people.
Castro focuses on the apostle and destructor dichotomy of Las Casas. Castro states that while
Las Casas was fighting to defend indigenous rights, he was also actively and willingly
participated in aiding Spanish s destruction of the natives; Las Casas s work with and for the
Indians is more paternalistic than paternal, more sympathetic than empathetic . Castro
emphasizes the Dominican s actions as justification and aid to achieving the possession of the
new land and their resources. He discredits the idea of Las Casas being an apostle by counter
arguing that an apostle is an individual who performs active person to person evangelizing to
convert unbelievers to his/hers own faith, and proclaims that Las Casas rarely had direct contact
with the indigenous people (pp. 3). The issues addressed by Castro are very important because he
is the first to emphasize the role the Dominican Bartolome de Las Casas not only as a reformer but
as an active agent of Spanish imperialism who contributed to the subjugation of the Ameridians
under more paternalistic and benevolent conditions than his contemporaries (pp. 184). This is a
side to the work of Las Casas that is rarely highlighted, therefore it is

rising up and falling. But though all the different turns it makes there is one key theme that can be
seen throughout. Notably, it is that despite our many sins Gods desires a personal relationship with
his people.
So how did it all begin? Well as it reads God created the heavens and the earth. He created every
living thing that is in the universe and he created man, male and female did he create them. And
he placed Adam and Eve in a garden and gave them everything that they needed only stimulating
that they could not eat from the tree in the center of the garden, the tree of good and evil.
Unfortunately, they were tempted and gave into there human desires. This is how sin came into
the world making everything chaotic and apart from what it was created to be. Now Adam and
Eve had numerous descendants but many were evil and there was only one who was righteous in
the sight of the Lord, Noah. Hence, God gave directions to Noah concerning the construction of a
large boat, otherwise known as an Ark. Into this craft would go Noah and his family and two of
every animal which moved upon the face of the earth to escape the great flood that would sweep
across the earth. The storm lasted

Summary Of Native Women And Nature In King Solomon s Mines
Despite the way descriptive grammar has changed the use of the word awesome , it is defined by
Dictionary.com as Causing or inducing awe; inspiring an overwhelming feeling of reverence,
admiration, or fear . So no, your pumpkin spice latte is not, in fact, awesome because it does not
inspire fear. Thinking about the word makes one reconsider about what really makes something
awesome. Looking out onto the vast, never ending ocean, or straight down once you get to the top
of the mountain; that is the material that sparks both delight and dread. To Allan Quatermainand the
other white men on the voyage, this sense of curiosity came from observing the native women
and nature, which are much more connected than one may think at first glance. Throughout the
novel, both women and nature are described as stunning, bearing life, timeless, and meant to
please or amuse men. In H. Rider Haggard s King Solomon s Mines, Quartermain s narration of
the giraffe scene describes the native women as beautiful and strange. It is clear, especially
towards the beginning of the novel, that the African wilderness is nothing like the men have ever
seen before. At the beginning of the giraffe scene, the landscape is described in an extraordinary
but way. Quartermain begins by saying, One evening, after a long day s march, we came to a spot
of peculiar loveliness (Haggard, 72). Portraying the nature as lovely shows his appreciation for the
land, but also describing it as peculiar shows that

Marx s Views On Private Property
Introduction English philosopher John Locke and German philosopher Karl Marx seem
completely opposed in their views of private property. While Locke believes that private property
is a natural right, Marx believes that private property should be abolished. Throughout this paper,
Locke s and Marx s individual philosophies on private propertywill be presented and examined.
Ultimately, this paper seeks to show the similarities between these thinkers viewpoints on private
property and demonstrate that Marx s philosophies have some roots in Locke s. Moreover, this
paper will examine how these philosophies affected the course of social, economic, and
civilizational process.
Private Property and its Relation to Government and Society
Locke saw the ownership of property an important natural rights, as well as fundamental to a
good government and society. He believed that all citizens had a right to life, liberty, and
property , if they had the means to attain it (SOURCE). He discusses his theories of property in
the Second Treatise of Government. He said that God gave man the earth to hold in common.
However, once man adds labor to the earth it becomes their private property. When a man plows a
field, for example, it becomes his and so too do the benefits (or the fruits) of this land.
The main purpose of the government, for Locke, is to protect an individual s private property.
When a state of nature is in place, there is no way for an individual to ensure that their property

Gender Barriers For Men And Women
Today what a person says is closely looked at, and the way they look at the issues have different
standards for men and woman. Language can be a wide range of things from body language,
tones and word choices. Talking is a necessary part of life, one that no one can get away from it.
Women can never do something as well as a mancan in some peoples mind. They take that thought
of superiority to bring women down. It can have harmful effects on women to where they go to
change what they believe is wrong with them. In Just don t do it the author says that girls have
certain words they constantly use (Cameron). The Times article states that the gendergap really is
lessening with linguistics and certain words are used by both genders. Languageskills are a
fundamental skill that everyone should possess, and when people use those skills there could be a
bias when judging their skills between men and women.
Talking is an essential part of life everywhere in the world no matter where they are. Women they
get judged harshly on the way they talk and are prone to becoming generalized with the way they
talk. Women have been said to over apologize, though there is no evidence for that, some think
that because women supposedly apologize more that they are weaker because of it (Cameron). It
makes some think that certain things do not matter if a girl apologizes for it, because it is almost
natural for them to do so. In Stop Saying I Feel Like article though,

Field Of Drones Research Paper
It was early dawn at the Huntington Beach Pier in California when I was first and rarely
dumbfounded by my first witnessing of a drone in action. I had just finished eating breakfast with
my father and we were then progressing towards the parking lot. As we were approaching the end
of the pier, an irregular sound magnified in volume. At the point where the noise reached its peak,
an unnatural wind, unknown to my senses, gusted from above. I felt feverish taps on my right arm
only to see my dad pointing at the sky above. I swiftly turn my head thinking about what had
caused such question. At the time I recall describing the object as a strange toy helicopter, and it
was rapidly advancing towards its operator. Our walking speed that morning made... Show more

This urge to know more lead me to consider purchasing a drone for myself, but there were a few
problems about that consideration. I didn t have a complete understanding about drone
maneuverability and regulations which lead me to speculate whether or not to begin exploring
the field of drones. My desire to study about unmanned aerial systems strengthened over the next
couple of years, but I couldn t find many lessons that were interactive and thorough enough. I
find it amazing how a brand new view of the ground below can be accessed with such a small
and agile product. For a great portion of my existence, I always thought that huge aircrafts would
be the only functionable creations that would be able to fly the skies, so when I first witnessed
the potential of these aerial systems, I was quickly captivated to properly wield one someday.
The feature of recording flights was also mind blowing because it opened a new way to express
the world around us through film. It s amazing how creative content creators can be when using
them. Being able to easily access a new way to express oneself is a progression into the future we

Summary Of Corrine Carvalho s Primer On Biblical...
Introduction
Biblical interpretation is an area that leaves historians and students perplexed. There are many
questions as to when exactly a certain text was written, whom it was written by, origin of sources,
etc. To answer these questions, Christian historians have developed methods in order to make sense
of the messages in the bible. In particular, Corrine Carvalho s Primer on Biblical Methods works to
critically explain and interpret scripture so readers feel less skeptical about the legitimacy of the
text. These methods include the following: Source criticism, the reconstruction of written sources
an ancient author may have used to compose a text. Form criticism, the way a final author has put a
text together. Traditional criticism, the identification of traditions that an author employs in
constructing new texts. Historical criticism, the historical circumstances that have led an author to
write a given text (Carvalho, 2009, p. 3); they are encouraged for readers to use throughout the
bible. If you look at Psalms, you will find prayers of a poetic nature, almost like a song like. This
writing style often leaves the meaning of its text open for interpretation because it speaks in
metaphors, it contains little to no defining statements. Carvalho s methods can be applied to Psalm
18.
THEO 223 Endterm: Intermediate Exegesis
Source Criticism Psalms 18 is the Psalm of King David. David provides several lines of imagery
and metaphors in the beginning of the Psalm to emphasize the degree in which the Lord has
helped him. The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the most high uttered his voice
(Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:13, p. 746)...He reached down from on high, he took me; he drew
me out of mighty waters (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:16, p. 747). However, the Psalm has an
abrupt shift in subject matter that suggests the psalmist has put the whole thing together from
separate sources. It begins with Psalm 18:20, The Lord rewarded me according to my
righteousness; according to the cleanliness of my hands he recompensed me (Attridge et al, 2006,
Psalm 18:20, p. 747). Every verse before verse 20 was under the theme of thanksgiving. In
addition, it had a high dose of metaphor and imagery,

Analysis Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
Voluptuous Vampire or Proper Prude
Written and set in the late 19th century, Bram Stoker s epistolary novel Dracula is a pivotal book
in gothic/horror literature. Like most novels written by men, Dracula appeals more to the male
audience and their fantasies and fears about women than to the Victorian Age woman. In the
novel, Lucy and Mina are the only two female characters the reader meets in detail, and they are
also the only two characters that are seen becoming vampires indeed, they are the only major
vampire characters, with the exception of the chief antagonist, who are described in detail within
the novel. Therefore it is clear that these two play a very important role in representing females in
the novel. Both characters are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen when Van Helsing comments about Mina, She is one of God s women,
fashioned by His own hand to show us men and other women that there is a heaven where we can
enter, and that its light can be here on earth. So true, so sweet, so noble, so little an egoist and
that, let me tell you, is much in this age... ( 197 ). The fact that Stoker has chosen to include such
an important contrast between the two major characters so early in the novel suggests that it will
play an important part in the narrative. The reader later learns that this difference is essential to the
plot, as it is only Mina s purity and innocence that allows the group to defeat Dracula at the end of
the novel, and ultimately saves Mina from Lucy s fate. Lucy s part in the novel may be relatively
short, yet her role is essential to the audience s understanding of the novel s message about female
roles and female sexuality in Victorian society since she is the first victim of Count Dracula. At the
same time, Lucy is the only character whose transformation into a vampire Stoker describes in
detail:
At times she slept, and both Van Helsing and I noticed the difference in her, between sleeping and
waking. Whilst asleep she looked stronger, although more haggard and her breathing was softer; her
open mouth showed the pale

Globalization And Cosmopolitanism By Thomas Friedman
Globalization and Cosmopolitanism In current century, it has become way easier to communicate
with one another around the world because of the advancement in technology, making it way easier
for us to know what s going on around the world from our couch with the help of the internet,
which is known as globalization. Because of globalization it has become easier to communicate
with people which is what Kwame Anthony Appiahemphasizes on making conversation and the
primacy of practice . Appiah also talks about another concept that is cosmopolitanismwhich means
global citizens of the world and how it may either bring people together or draw them apart from
one another. Appiah also emphasizes that making conversation doesn t necessarily mean that it
would reduce conflict, Thomas Friedman also agrees with Appiah theory, which is No two
countries that are both part of the same global supply chain will ever fight as war as long as they
are each part of that supply chain (Freidman 173). Does making conversation really solve any
problem/conflict? What is cosmopolitanism and does his concept really help apply to the world
and how helpful has it been in solving problems? Does meditating into different cultures solve any
problems? After 9/11 began a divide between us and them will that be solved? Being connected to
one another does that really solve problem much. Appiah mentions in the interview that even

Aristotle s Theory Of Happiness
Human Being Can Actually Live a Contented Life
Happiness is one of the biggest subjects that have the most influence in a person s life in today s
world. People have discovered that happiness is actually related to multiple benefits of our mental
and physical health. Every person wants to experience true happiness throughout his/her life.
Nevertheless, everyone is suffering finding sustainable happiness. Aristotle, in his work called
Nicomachean Ethics, presents the concept that living a virtuous life will produce sustainable
happiness for a lifetime. According to Aristotle, everything we do aims to some goods, or ends,
and for him, the best good would be happiness. Additionally, he mentions that happiness is not
easy to defined, some people are confused between happiness and other things. Besides, he also
suggests that virtue is essential for achieving happiness as the ultimate goal. He further indicates
that the soul and its virtues is based on the mean between two extremes, one of excess and the
other of deficiency. That is, Aristotle s theory of the mean can work to bring us sustainable
happiness because the balancing act goes on all through life and it is a way for us to improve
our character, to deal with the inevitable hardships of life and to strive for the best good .
Therefore, to live in a virtue life, we must live in the mean, and if we do so, we will experience
satisfaction. Aristotle s argument in the Nicomachean Ethics, that living one s life in the mean ,

Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) versus Serial Analysis of...
Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) versus Serial Analysis of Gene Expression (SAGE)
INTRODUCTION Expressed sequence tag or also known as EST are 200 to 800 unedited
nucleotide bases in length, and randomly selected single pass sequence reads which are derived
from the cDNA libraries while serial analysis of gene expression or SAGE have more shorter
sequence tags with only 10 to 20 base pairs. But even it is short it still have enough information
to uniquely identify a transcript, especially if it is obtained from a unique position in each of the
transcripts. Serial analysis of gene expression is a method or technique designed to gain a direct
and quantitative measure of overall gene expression pattern. It is basically a sequence based ...

ETS also can determine definitively the number of copies of each transcript per cell and highlight
any differential gene expression. EST includes an inefficient sequencing step, in which one
sequencing process yields only one cDNA sequence. Although the more recent methods of
hybridization based analyses (DNA microarray) using immobilized cDNAs (Schena et al., 1995)
or oligonucleotides (Lockhart et al., 1996) can potentially examine the expression patterns of a
relatively large number of genes, the method can only examine expressed sequences that have
already been identified. In contrast, the SAGE method allows for a quantitative and simultaneous
analysis of a large number of transcripts in any particular cells or tissues, without prior knowledge
of the genes (Velculescu et al., 1995).
METHODOLOGY The SAGE method is based on the isolation of unique sequence tags from
individual mRNAs and concatenation of tags serially into long DNA molecules for lump sum
sequencing. It can be applied to the studies exploring virtually any kinds of biological phenomena
in which the changes in cellular transcription are responsible. SAGE is based mainly on three
principles, firstly, a short sequence tags, 10 to 15 base pairs contains sufficient information to
uniquely identify a transcript provided that the tag is obtained from a unique position within each
transcript to allow the efficient sequencing analysis. Secondly

Prefiguration In Calovary
A.Interpretive Process (pre figuration, configuration, and re figuration)
If God s wider presence is real on the earth in cultural artifacts like Calvary, how do we identity or
discern it? Put differently, how do we carefully make theological meaning out of Calvary? In Time
and Narrative, Paul Ricoeur links Aristotle s characterization of narrative and suggests three stages
of interpretation. He calls them mimesis1 (prefiguration), minesis2 (configuration), and mimesis3
(refiguration). Ricoeur states, A prefigured time becomes a refigured time through the mediation of
a configured time. Mimesis1 describes that human acting is always already prefigured with certain
basic competencies. So for a prefiguration of Calvary, I will talk about ... Show more content on

A Plot of Calvary
In this section, I will first outline the plot of Calvary. Then I will point out that there are two major
themes in the film. The first one is the human side of a Catholic priest. The second one is the
Catholic Church.
Calvary opens with the line from Augustine, Do not despair; one of the thieves was saved. Do
not presume; one of the thieves was damned. John Michael McDonagh attempts to tell a story of
Father James Lavelle (Brendan Gleeson) in tension and in darkness. The story starts in a
confessional, where Father James hears the voice of an obscured penitent about his story. A
priest had raped him since he was seven. Now he is going to kill Father James at the beach one
week, because Father James is a good priest. With full knowledge of Father James innocence, he
explains that killing a good priest would catch more attention than killing a bad one. After all, the
abuser is dead. As a priest of a small rural parish in Streedah Ireland, Father James knows who is
behind the screen, but we, the viewers, do not. The film invites us to participate in a not yet solved
mystery, who is the killer? Could it be the butcher, the atheist doctor, the mechanic, or the
bartender? In Calvary, all of them have harassed Father James and seem to have tension with the

Why Cats Are Better House Pets Than Dogs
There are five key elements in an essay. The analysis, introduction, thesis, support, and conclusion.
The first paragraph of an essay is the introduction. The introduction will catch the reader s attention
and will give them an understanding of what the essay is going to be about. In the introduction
contains the thesis. The thesis statement is the main idea of the essay. For example, Cats are better
house pets than dogs. In the second paragraph, it will include the support and analysis. The analysis
is the reasoning behind the thesis statement. It will explain why, for example, cats are better than
dogs. Then comes in the support. The support will back up the analysis with examples and quotes
to prove the point. In the third paragraph,

  • 2. Alexander The Great Has Truly Shaped And Inspired The... Alexander the Great has truly shaped and inspired the entire world as one of the greatest and most successful military leaders in history. Alexander has influenced many writers, as he is included in the national literatures of some eighty countries. At the age of just thirty, Alexander had conquered what was known as oecumene (the inhabited world). Alexander the Great has become worldly recognized and lives on to this day as a modern hero who took on, conquered the world and spread Hellenic culture. Alexander III of Macedon was born in the royal palace in Pella, the capital of Macedon, in July 356 B.C. The people of Ancient Macedonia were considered to be barbarians or backward foreigners from a Greeks perspective even though the Macedonians spoke and followed Greek culture. Alexander was born three years into the great military commander of King Philip II s of Macedon s reign and Olympias, a princess who belonged to a strange religious cult, from the neighbouring country of Epirus. The two were very passionate and dynamic characters, and their traits and actions shaped their son s destiny along with his tutors Aristotle, Lysimachus and Leonidas of Epirus. Demosthenes in 341 BC stated, Philip is no Greek... He is a filthy wretch from Macedonia, . The Macedonians were clearly hated by the Greeks and the country was considered to be a peasant, farming state. Defeating these stereotypes about Macedonians, Alexander lived the privileged life of a young prince in the royal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Textual Analysis Of Music I find the process of thinking of something on a conceptual level and turning it into a conceivable object really intriguing. It requires excellent communication not only with people but also within one s self; I think this is also the hardest part making something new and different creating. It requires finding an inspiration and then creating something that other people can understand and relate to because they have either experienced what the art piece represents or because they have thoughtof the same concept. I found it interesting how the four students interpreted the same piece of music differently and how drastically different their representation of their concepts were. For example, while one took a political stance, the other took a more philosophical view of good vs. evil. I think this shows their personality and their thinking style and how they interact with the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I wouldn t be surprised if Crumb himself had asked himself the same question when composing the piece and designing the musical philosophy behind the piece. I think they all formed excellent connections with the philosophical inquires of the music they perceived. Furthermore, they also used interesting interpretation of sound. For example, one of the girls used silver to show the metallic, unorganized, and sharp aspects of the music. I didn t make this connection before seeing it but once I saw how she used it, the artistic connection and representation was clear to me too. It is this part of art I find most intriguing a form of communication of ideas independent of speech and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why Am I Here Why are You Here? I have fallen short in many ways towards the goals that I have made in my life. No matter how high the standard is set, and whether failure awaits me, perseverance and my faith will carry me on. Some would label me as a dreamer. Someone could say I have reality to face, but without dreams we have no hope, and without hope we have nothing inside of us to fuel our deep passion to succeed and win the race that we have been running. Through four and a half months of training in technical school, they were able to mold me into what they expect in the ordinance branch. So far, this has been an amazing experience, and I am proud of being a small part of the big picture. With that said, I am here for one reason and one reason only. I no longer have my parents direction, or have someone showing me what is right, and I would be wrong in making my time here meaningless. Many of my peers would say this is one big party and that they are here for the girls and the cheap beer, but if I wanted to party, I wouldn t have chosen to pay so much for one. I think it would be ridiculous of me to waste a perfectly good opportunity to become the man that I was made to be. My past was unbalanced and reckless, and it would be easy for me to fall back into my old ways, so it would be wise of me to stay focused while I am here. My life was very structured and it drove me to want something different, but when I had to face my consequences, I soon came to want exactly what I was running from. Ironically enough, I am beginning to see what they were trying to do as parents. It would be nice to finally make them proud to be an influence in my life, and I will do my best to make that happen. • 7. Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics. Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical (local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36], coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a waveguide [38]. In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by avoiding any undesired cross talk between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While referring to the famous love stories, Lancelot and Guinevere, Tristan and Iseult are a kind of example, and another kind of example is Perceval. As we all know, Lancelot is often exemplified as the perfect image of a qualified knight, and the most unique quality of Lancelot as a perfect image of a lover is his staunch belief in love. However, he is isolated from the divine love and only limited in sexual self love. On the other hand, the spiritual pursuit is the center theme in the story of Perceval. Both love and Christian charity emerge in the development of Perceval. The transformation of knighthood from erotic love, amor into Christian charity, caritas deeply... They have gone to see a holy hermit, so they suggest Perceval see the hermit and make a confession for his sin, which becomes the turning point for Perceval to realize his sin and plans to remove it by meeting the hermit. In this way, the biggest quest for Perceval is to clear his sin and to reunite under the name of God, rather than finding the grail physically. The hermit, who later claimed to be his uncle, tells Perceval to repent for his soul. The meeting between the hermit and Perceval signifies that the relationship among major characters in the story of Perceval, and revives the identity of Perceval. Allowing myself to set goals is a personal commitment and a drive to make change. Growing, educating and knowledge with time allows one to feel safe to dream and thrive to make better and larger goals. My first goal after obtaining my BSN in April 2017 is to work on myself and my family. In my career, my goal will be to work on my clinical ladder and seek ways to improve myself and my facility. This holds true for the Middle Eastern classic A Thousand and One Arabian Nights, as anyone can observe a multitude of differences between the extensive numbers of English translations that have been released over the past three centuries. Cultural beliefs and ideas play a large role in the variances, but do not account for all of the discrepancies, especially in terms of maturity level. The infamous Richard Burton comes from a similar cultural background to the aforementioned Edward Lane, but his translation of A Thousand and One Arabian Nights is perhaps the most explicit English translation to date. This is not because of radically different cultural values, but simply based upon the intent of the translators. Burton s intent is also visible in his means of publication. British conservatism was at its height during the time in which Burton was publishing his translation, making it so he had to publish said translation privately in order to avoid violating laws such as the Obscene Publications Act. Vocal fatigue includes two main symptoms; there is a continuous increase in phonatory use and effort and then a loss in phonation. This condition is often recognized in other professional voice users such as singers and actors. However, vocal fatigue in teachers has not been as well known and has only recently been addressed to the public. Reports from public school teachers indicated symptoms of vocal fatigue shortly after they started teaching. All four teachers reported vocal fatigue after a few years of teaching. Teachers were excluded from this study if they were already in voice training and if they had any organic or acute vocal pathologies seen on an ear, nose and throat (ENT) evaluation or endoscopic exam. The goal for this study was to use chant therapy to decrease the individuals fatigue by making it a habit for them to use differential muscle activity. To meet this goal the authors focused on finding a normal speaking pitch, increased prosodic accent and a better standard deviation for their fundamental frequencies. A Voice Range Profile (FRP) was used to find a more efficient speaking pitch. The pitch targeted was characterized by being in the individual s lower range where the largest loudness gain was found in the semitone below it. The individuals were taught this pitch and it was used as the mediation note for chant therapy. The researchers also implemented a placebo therapy. It included the same amount of non effortful speech as the chant therapy and there were no environmental or behavioral changes implemented. Each individual was paired with another and was told to speak to each other in a normal voice for one hour, which was the same amount of time as the chant therapy. They were then given an end of the session questionnaire and 3 of the 4 subjects stated that they thought the placebo therapy was beneficial. The chant and placebo therapy included six ... Anthropogenic temperature change refers to the assembly of greenhouse gases emitted by human action. (Climate Science Investigation, 2018) The IPCC, Fourth Report discusses in 2007 has multiple lines of proof that confirms that the post industrial rise in greenhouse gases doesn t stem from natural mechanisms. This I believe, is one of the biggest reasons why these books have been such a success, the author knows how to keep the story going at all times in order to maintain the readers attention. Another factor which I believe has led to the novels success is that while reading, the reader wishes that they could live in this fantasy world created by Rowling where life is anything but ordinary. The novels make the reader somewhat desire a life like the one led by the characters of the novels, like going to a school to learn wizarding, always having extraordinary things happen and just being at Hogwarts seems like an unequaled joy for some. Curious Case of Benjamin Button Essay When directors choose to adapt a novel or short story to fit the silverscreen, they often face the arduous task of keeping the author s original plot in tow as well as, putting forth a believable product. In the case of Scotts Fitzgerald s short story, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, director, David Fincher and screenwriter, Eric Roth chose to scrap the original framework of the story and start anew. Although Fincher and Roth keeps the basic idea of Benjamin Button s existence the same, their screen adaption tells a more sincere version of how it would feel to live life in reverse. This explanation of the clock also resembles Mark Twain s affirmation that, the best part of life comes at the beginning while the worst comes at the end. Keeping this in mind, Fincher then presents the audience with the character of Benjamin Button, a child who is born with all the physical characteristics of an elderly person and who is thereby doomed to age backwards in the same way as Monsieur Gateau s clock. This addition of magical realism by the screenwriter and director to explain Benjamin s story allows the viewer to have a visual metaphor of how it would look if time ran backwards. Like the Monsieur Gateau s clock, Benjamin is an anomaly that is meant to defy the mechanisms of time. Yet, Benjamin and the clock both fall short on that front. Throughout the movie, the audience is shown how Benjamin is plagued with the same ailments as others even though he is ageing differently. Just like a regular humanbeing, he experiences the lost of family and friends due to death and has to come to terms with the fact that he too will soon die. Ultimately, this shows that regardless of the way that an individual ages, death is inevitable. • 22. Pros And Cons Of The Postzygotic Barrier Of Species What defines a species is a very difficult question to answer. Variations are everywhere, but at some point those variations grow to where the species are different. Two common problems come up when looking at what makes a species a species. The first is what to do with hybrids and when are they considered a different species. The second is the issue of asexual reproduction. There are many different definitions of the word species and they all have their pros and cons when it comes to addressing these issues and describing what makes a species distinct from another species. One of the most common definitions for species is the following, a group of populations whose members have the potential to interbreed in nature and produce viable, fertile offspring but do not produce viable, fertile offspring with members of other groups. This definition makes sense when one thinks that a monkey cannot mate with a cat. The creation of viable and fertile offspring depends on the avoidance of both prezygotic and postzygotic barriers that put a stop to it. Prezygotic barriers refer to barriers that happen before creation of the zygote including habitat, temporal, behavioral, mechanical, and gametic isolation. All of these factors prevent successful mating. Postzygotic barriers happen after an offspring has been conceived. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fossil fuels are used and converted into coal, oils, and gasses. The products of fossil fuels are mostly Carbon, which is harmful to the environment, leading to global warming and climate change, and O zone destruction. These conditions cause global temperature increase, ocean acidification, rising sea levels, health problems due to pollution, and the destruction of ecosystems (climate.nasa.gov). Considering these issues, alternative energysources are something that can be used to help combat harmful fossil fuels and lessen humanity s Carbon footprint (the amount of carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds emitted due to the consumption of fossil fuels by a person, group, etc.). There are multiple alternative and renewable energy sources available on the market today. Some of these include: solar panels, geothermal systems, and wind turbines; However, another alternative energy source could be harvesting lightning. In Clinton County, Iowa, the middle class has an annual income between $33,300 and $99,401. As I walked down the streets of Cobblestone Estates in DeWitt, Iowa and driving through the trailer parks on the outskirts of DeWitt, it is clear to examine the differences between these two neighborhoods. The doublewide trailers require a little more effort to obtain. Doublewide homes begin at 1,067 square feet and can reach up to 2,300 square feet. These homes have a width of 20 feet or more and can reach an astonishing 90 feet long. Although they can get quite large, the most common size is 56 feet long and 26 feet wide. This totals out to be around 1,456 square feet. Unfortunately, with these homes being wider they have to be shipped as two separate units and are jointed together seamlessly to create a double wide home. These homes can be shipped onto the site very quickly and at a low cost compared to constructing a larger home built in a subdivision. After some research conducted on the U.S. Census Bureau website, I found the average new home built in 2015 had a square footage of 2,467. How Did Virginia Woolf Treat Women During her life, Virginia Woolf endured many acts of discrimination not based on the content of her character or the body of her work but based purely upon her gender. Through her years of schooling towards her ascension to literary fame she witnessed an astonishing difference in the treatment of men in college and women in college especially in terms of food. To show the difference in treatment Woolf uses her description of the meals as a metaphor of the difference of treatment between men and women in college as well as extending the metaphor to show that their treatment in college reflect how they are treated within society. He discusses the humanitarian element Las Casas is known for but mainly highlights the rarely exposed ambivalent political and economic imperialistic motives behind his humanitarianism and his will to convert the Indigenous people. Castro states that while Las Casas was fighting to defend indigenous rights, he was also actively and willingly participated in aiding Spanish s destruction of the natives; Las Casas s work with and for the Indians is more paternalistic than paternal, more sympathetic than empathetic . Castro emphasizes the Dominican s actions as justification and aid to achieving the possession of the new land and their resources. He discredits the idea of Las Casas being an apostle by counter arguing that an apostle is an individual who performs active person to person evangelizing to convert unbelievers to his/hers own faith, and proclaims that Las Casas rarely had direct contact with the indigenous people (pp. 3). The issues addressed by Castro are very important because he is the first to emphasize the role the Dominican Bartolome de Las Casas not only as a reformer but as an active agent of Spanish imperialism who contributed to the subjugation of the Ameridians under more paternalistic and benevolent conditions than his contemporaries (pp. 184). What are the fundamental teachings this amazing story explains. Well like any good story it is about unlikely heroes, kings, seers, nations rising up and falling. But though all the different turns it makes there is one key theme that can be seen throughout. Notably, it is that despite our many sins Gods desires a personal relationship with his people. So how did it all begin? Well as it reads God created the heavens and the earth. He created every living thing that is in the universe and he created man, male and female did he create them. And he placed Adam and Eve in a garden and gave them everything that they needed only stimulating that they could not eat from the tree in the center of the garden, the tree of good and evil. Unfortunately, they were tempted and gave into there human desires. This is how sin came into the world making everything chaotic and apart from what it was created to be. Now Adam and Eve had numerous descendants but many were evil and there was only one who was righteous in the sight of the Lord, Noah. Hence, God gave directions to Noah concerning the construction of a large boat, otherwise known as an Ark. So no, your pumpkin spice latte is not, in fact, awesome because it does not inspire fear. Thinking about the word makes one reconsider about what really makes something awesome. Looking out onto the vast, never ending ocean, or straight down once you get to the top of the mountain; that is the material that sparks both delight and dread. To Allan Quatermainand the other white men on the voyage, this sense of curiosity came from observing the native women and nature, which are much more connected than one may think at first glance. Throughout the novel, both women and nature are described as stunning, bearing life, timeless, and meant to please or amuse men. In H. Ultimately, this paper seeks to show the similarities between these thinkers viewpoints on private property and demonstrate that Marx s philosophies have some roots in Locke s. Moreover, this paper will examine how these philosophies affected the course of social, economic, and civilizational process. Private Property and its Relation to Government and Society Locke saw the ownership of property an important natural rights, as well as fundamental to a good government and society. He believed that all citizens had a right to life, liberty, and property , if they had the means to attain it (SOURCE). He discusses his theories of property in the Second Treatise of Government. He said that God gave man the earth to hold in common. However, once man adds labor to the earth it becomes their private property. • 45. Summary Of Corrine Carvalho s Primer On Biblical... Introduction Biblical interpretation is an area that leaves historians and students perplexed. There are many questions as to when exactly a certain text was written, whom it was written by, origin of sources, etc. To answer these questions, Christian historians have developed methods in order to make sense of the messages in the bible. In particular, Corrine Carvalho s Primer on Biblical Methods works to critically explain and interpret scripture so readers feel less skeptical about the legitimacy of the text. These methods include the following: Source criticism, the reconstruction of written sources an ancient author may have used to compose a text. Form criticism, the way a final author has put a text together. Traditional criticism, the identification of traditions that an author employs in constructing new texts. Historical criticism, the historical circumstances that have led an author to write a given text (Carvalho, 2009, p. 3); they are encouraged for readers to use throughout the bible. If you look at Psalms, you will find prayers of a poetic nature, almost like a song like. This writing style often leaves the meaning of its text open for interpretation because it speaks in metaphors, it contains little to no defining statements. Carvalho s methods can be applied to Psalm 18. THEO 223 Endterm: Intermediate Exegesis Source Criticism Psalms 18 is the Psalm of King David. David provides several lines of imagery and metaphors in the beginning of the Psalm to emphasize the degree in which the Lord has helped him. The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the most high uttered his voice (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:13, p. 746)...He reached down from on high, he took me; he drew me out of mighty waters (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:16, p. 747). However, the Psalm has an abrupt shift in subject matter that suggests the psalmist has put the whole thing together from separate sources. It begins with Psalm 18:20, The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanliness of my hands he recompensed me (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:20, p. 747). The fact that Stoker has chosen to include such an important contrast between the two major characters so early in the novel suggests that it will play an important part in the narrative. The reader later learns that this difference is essential to the plot, as it is only Mina s purity and innocence that allows the group to defeat Dracula at the end of the novel, and ultimately saves Mina from Lucy s fate. Lucy s part in the novel may be relatively short, yet her role is essential to the audience s understanding of the novel s message about female roles and female sexuality in Victorian society since she is the first victim of Count Dracula. At the same time, Lucy is the only character whose transformation into a vampire Stoker describes in detail: At times she slept, and both Van Helsing and I noticed the difference in her, between sleeping and waking. People have discovered that happiness is actually related to multiple benefits of our mental and physical health. Every person wants to experience true happiness throughout his/her life. Nevertheless, everyone is suffering finding sustainable happiness. Aristotle, in his work called Nicomachean Ethics, presents the concept that living a virtuous life will produce sustainable happiness for a lifetime. According to Aristotle, everything we do aims to some goods, or ends, and for him, the best good would be happiness. Additionally, he mentions that happiness is not easy to defined, some people are confused between happiness and other things. Besides, he also suggests that virtue is essential for achieving happiness as the ultimate goal. He further indicates that the soul and its virtues is based on the mean between two extremes, one of excess and the other of deficiency. That is, Aristotle s theory of the mean can work to bring us sustainable happiness because the balancing act goes on all through life and it is a way for us to improve our character, to deal with the inevitable hardships of life and to strive for the best good . In contrast, the SAGE method allows for a quantitative and simultaneous analysis of a large number of transcripts in any particular cells or tissues, without prior knowledge of the genes (Velculescu et al., 1995).
