Defining The Short Squeeze Event
1 IntroductionBefore defining the Short Squeeze event, I will explain the concept of Short sellingof
stocks. Short selling is a strategy, where an trader borrows stocks of firms from abroker and sells those
stocks in the market with the condition of returning the stocksback to the broker at later point of the
time. Traders execute this strategy when theexpected future returns of stock performance is bleak or
have negative outlook.Forexample, if the future expected earnings, sales, cash flows of the company is
expectedto decline in next quarters, the investors will short sell the the stock now and buythe stocks in
future and return the borrowed shares to the brokers. This strategy is contrary to normal investment
strategy where investors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The short interest informa tion released by NASDAQ has 2 dates i.e. settlement date and
dissemination date.Settlement date is the date specified for delivery of securities between securities
firms. This date marks the official date for change of ownership and is used for accountingfor long or
short positions. Dissemination is the date when the information is released3 to the market. It is
generally T+7 days with respect to Settlement date. AverageDaily Share Volume is the number of
shares of stock traded each day, averaged overa rolling one year period. Days to Cover is calculated as
the aggregate short interestfor the month divided by the average daily share volume traded between
short inter est settlement dates. If days to cover is between 0 and 1, it is rounded up to 1 on[NASDAQ

fundamen tals of the firms. During our literature survey, we observe that some studies suggestthat high
levels of short interest predict future returns, but the rationale behind thisthis predictability is not well
understood. There are various theories that lead todifferent interpretations. One of the study suggests
that stocks are overvalued in thepresence of short sale constraint and hence the subsequent negative
abnormal returnsrepresent a correct of this overvaluation. Second suggests that short interest sellersare

Rochester Youth Development Study
One study conducted by Chen, Propp, deLara, Corvo at Syracuse University School of Social Work
hypothesized that victims of childhood neglect are more likely to be arrested for juvenile drug and
alcohol offenses than their community matched pairs (Chen et. al, 2013). They also proposed that
adolescents who are male, minority, and neglect victims are at the greatest risk of being arrested for
juvenile drug and alcohol offenses. This is concurrent with my position that neglected children are at
an increased risk for juvenile delinquency. The study utilized data and findings from the Childhood
Victimization and Delinquency, Adult Criminality, and Violent Criminal Behavior in a Large Urban
County in the Northwest United States, 1980 1997 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Cathy S. Widom of the Department of Psychiatry at the New Jersey Medical School, showed that
youth who had been abused or neglected as children were more likely to be arrested as juveniles (27
percent versus 17 percent), adults (42 percent versus 33 percent) and for a violent crime (18 percent
versus 14 percent) than a comparable control group of young people with no comparable history of
abuse or neglect. In the early study by Widom, the researcher followed children who had been abused
and/or neglected approximately 25 years earlier through an examination of official criminal records,
then compared them with a matched control group of children of the same age, sex, race, and
approximate social class (Widom, 2017). The author conducted this research in a metropolitan county
in the Midwest using cases of child abuse and neglect that came to the attention of the courts from
1989 through 1992. An assessment of criminal behavior found that early child abuse and neglect
increased the risk of arrest as a juvenile by 55% and increased the risk of being arrested for a violent
crime as a juvenile by 96%. These researchers also found that those with a history of being abused or
neglected were younger at first arrest

Manuel Alvarez Bravo
The history of Mexico is much different than the history of its northern neighbor, the United States (U.
S.). At one time Mexican territory extended north into the Colorado area and west to California before
ceding the property to the U. S. after the Mexican American War of 1846 1848. Mexico and most of
South America had been settled by Spain upon encountering the New World in 1492. So South
American Spanish colonies spoke Spanish, had a ruling class that was not native born called
peninsulares who were born in Spain but lived and ruled Mexico. Mexican ties with Europe were
strong and in its colonial days the rulers and upper class individuals tended to draw from European
society to make Mexico feel like the place they left behind. With regard to Mexican Natives,
Spaniards intermarried into ruling families just as if they were in ... Show more content on

It was a time of a creative fertility, owing to the happy though not always tranquil marriage between a
desire for modernization and the search for an identity with Mexican roots, in which archaeology,
history and ethnology played an important role, parallel to the arts. ( Manuel Alvarez Bravo para. 5)
The official Bravo site on the internet has samples of his work from the 1920s to the 1990s, as he lived
to be 100 years old ( Manuel Alvarez Bravo para. 8). In that span of time, Bravo kept the subjects of
his pictures the same. He photographed Native people, their living conditions, relics, and landscapes.
Viewers will not see society people among the photo array on his official website. One picture titled
Barber, 1924 from the 1920s collection is a picture of a youngster getting a haircut on a sidewalk or

Buffalo Bill Annotation
The American frontier is an era of great pride and taming of the nature with the will to conquer.
American society is taught to never give up and peruse one s dream, to value that dream and do
whatever it takes in order to achieve it. Although this provides a double edged sword for society as it
can be the will on one side, but also be the downfall on another. For if any person is supposed to truly
resemble the American frontier, then Buffalo Bill would be that image. Yet, in a Native American
perspective, his double edged sword is a continually growing downfall for the culture. Sherman Alexie
s poem Evolution shows an ever growing dived in reservations around America and the effects from
its own poison. For when Buffalo Bill opens a pawn shop on the reservation, natives flee to the shop
in order to pawn their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the perspective also into the past as well. For when the actual Buffalo Bill was born, indigenous
groups further west were ousted from their lands just like those in the East. The sun essentially sets on
the rise and fall of the Native people in this poem because it shows how a white man came into a
reservation and caused the same 200 hundred year old pain again. Not only is there that pain, Buffalo
Bill has the bill that Native Americans pay in order to destroy their own legacy. The reservation only
gets smaller as the Natives leave and the blood toxicity lessens while the blood alcohol levels increase.
True indigenous people and their descendants are essentially evolving into a new breed of people, and
the only relict to show their presence is when Buffalo Bill closes the pawn shop and paints a new sign
over. Calling it the THE MUSEUM OF NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURES. Yet to even know about
such information, Buffalo Bill requires that one pay the bill, and this only results in seeing the things
the same Native people had just

Beowulf came to the Kingdom of King Hrothgar by ship. He was accompanied by fourteen brave

Freedom In College Campuses
Freedom, that is what is on every college freshman s mind when they step onto their campus, I
certainly did. There is that moment of realization and you can taste what feels like the beginning of
your life. You are promised opportunities and a guaranteed a better future, whether that means
climbing up the economic ladder or enriching your knowledge, there is a clear understanding that
these years will be your best. Although sometimes they are your worst, what colleges do not tell you,
or even what they do. The lies we are fed and the manipulation that we are unaware of is a growing
matter among campuses. I have seen cases shut down and thrown away just so that the school can say
it has low rape rates. I have seen numerous girls who once

How Does Shakespeare Present Gender Stereotypes In Macbeth
How Shakespeare reinforces or challenges gender stereotypes Macbeth
Shakespeare delves in to the gender expectation of characters in his plays. He tends to play with the
expectations and stereotypes of gender. He challenges and conforms to these expectations through
characters and their personalities. Shakespeare does this to provoke his audiences understanding of
what gender roles are. These gender roles are displayed through Macduff, Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth.
The gender stereotype of what constitutes a real man is displayed perfectly by Shakespeare in this
scene. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is said to be a valiant soldier that has won the battle for
them. The king congratulates him along with the army of men which also commend him on his duties.
King Duncan is told by the Captain brave Macbeth well he deserves that name . The captain then says

yet Macduff continues to weep and grieve. He responds I shall do, But I must also feel it as a man.
Stereotypically, a man is displayed as emotionless and immune to pain. They do not express their
feelings and are strong. In this scene, Shakespeare, has thoroughly challenged this. Macduff is
displayed as courageous man with no fear, this is reinforced by Duncan himself Front to front Bring
thou this fiend of Scotland and myself. Within my sword s length set him . Here Shakespeare is
challenging the gender stereotype of what a man of integrity is, He has done this by making a man of
his stature cry, allowing him to be emotional and sensitive. Something that was not of the norms in

Consequences Of Esperanza Rising
Many people who have read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan believe that Esperanza and her
mother should have stayed in Mexico, but in my opinion, I believe that they were right to leave for
California. If they stayed, they would have had to face several consequences, one being having to live
with Esperanza s uncle, despicable Tio Luis. At the same time, when they went to California, they did
not have to leave everything behind, it was a choice they made. After all, as Esperanza herself said in
the book, Do not ever be afraid to start over. (p. 253)
Esperanza and her mother made the choice to leave Mexico and go to California to work and escape
Tio Luis, which I believe to be a good decision. Before going, Esperanza was spoiled, rich, and quite
full of herself, living in a high social class family, and in general thought of herself better than others.
At first, she was against leaving everything she knew and loved, but in the end, found herself liking
California. Esperanza made new friends, in particular, Isabel, who taught her many things, even
though she was younger. She taught her how to appreciate what she had, and how to get a job done.
She taught her how to deal with the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people do choose to stay in their home country, for various reasons, but others, such as
Esperanza and her mother, choose to leave one place for another, the same way many Syrians are
immigrating to Germany. In other words, while several stay, several leave as well, and it is therefore
up to those said people to decide. A point often overlooked, though, when all of the numbers are in the
air, it is very easy to forget that these are people, not just statistics. As said in Pam Munoz Ryan s
book, Esperanza Rising, There is no rose without thorns. This represents that, despite the peremptory

The Purpose Of Old Major s Speech
Novelist, George Orwell, in his narrative essay, Animal Farm, describes Old Major s
Speech. Old Major had a dream that animals are treated with equality and he wanted to address it to
the rest of the animals on the far. All the animals on the farm respected Old Major because he was
wise and he thinks about life when he sits alone in his stable. The purpose of Old Major s speech was
about his wisdom, how animals are treated, not respected and later when they are unhelpful they are
killed and what they were going to have to do about the issue going go

how their lives end and not have a choice to make, in order to center his idea that animals lives are
miserable. Old Major s feeling towards the topic that he holds about animals lives is strong because he
has had time to understand the meanings that the animals are given to the humans and disagrees about
the miserables lives they live. Thus, Old Major does say that animals lives are unjustified that he
wants to make a rebellion.
Old Major closes his speech by saying that they should do a rebellion. Old Major tells the animals,
That is my message to you, comrades: Rebellion! I do not know when the that Rebellion will come, . .

order for the animals to have justice they will have to rebel against Jones. This effect cause the feeling
of the rest of the animals to rise and fight for their equal society. All in all, Old Major address the fact
that they animals should rebel to get their justice made

to fight for equality and real freedom without hurting those who oppose our points of view. Dr. King s
Six Principles of Nonviolence have become a bible for those fighting for the most just causes in the
planet and years after his dead his knowledge and ideals still inspiring people from different races,
religions and cultures.
In Venezuela a man called Leopoldo Lopez is a living example of the validity Dr. King s values have
in our time. Lopez was the head of a movement to ask for the resignation of Venezuela s dictator
Nicolas Maduro through pacific demonstrations on the street all over the country.
Venezuelans response to Lopez s call was tremendous and thousands of people went out to the streets
to reestablish the democracy and the dignity of a country where toilet paper, milk, diapers and other
basic goods are a privilege. Maduro s forces tried to silent the people by using violence. The final
results were 43 demonstrators dead, thousands injured and around 1500 arrested including Lopez.
But Lopez arrest was not a normal one. After the first demonstration in Caracas, the government
issued an order to detain Lopez. It was not the first time the party in power tried to silent Lopez, he
has been a victim of multiple accusations including an order to restrict his right to be elected in any

Deadly Debris Humans tend to think of space as infinite, that is true as far as we can tell, however the
space around Earth is not infinite. After the Space race began in the late 1950 s countries began
sending satellites into space for various purposes. Today these Satellites are very important to
everyday life, but there is a looming problem that has often been overlooked. Low Earth orbit, where
most satellites and spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of many old and decaying satellites.
Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in space and could eventually make low
Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi paper I am currently working on is a story
about a group of astronauts in the near future who are returning from mining an asteroid. In this story
it is much like the moon landings in that people were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now.
These are just routine missions that hardly anyone knows or cares about. This all changes however
when two satellites in high orbit on Earth collide, one being a communication satellite with the
astronauts. The unaware astronauts, now returning to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them
at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is
hit. Now adrift in space the astronauts struggle to survive in the most hostile environment for humans.

Lesson Plan for Grade K 5, Language Arts
Prepared by Ms. Katayama, Liberal Studies Major at Chico State University
OVERVIEW PURPOSE
Technology is fluid; constantly changing and improving the way society functions and communicates
with one another. The importance of implementing technology in an academic setting is crucial due to
the modern world being a highly technological economy. Cell phones, computers, ipads, and other
technological instruments have made its way into almost every industry, including the education field,
and will only continue to increase. With a technological device in hand, students are broadening their
learning by being more creative, imaginative, and further engaging their cognitive thinking as opposed
to being restricted to writing with paper and pencil. Statistics show that students that interact with
tablets and computers score higher on tests and overall perform better in the classroom. Therefor,
teachers should do what they can comprehend how these technological devices work and find fun,
creative, lessons for students.
The main purpose of this lesson is to have students successfully create their own scrapbooks by using
descriptions, pictures, and drawings that illustrates what each student is passionate about. Ideas could
be hobbies such as dance, basketball, fishing, rock collections, etc., or volunteering at the local animal
shelter. By using the app, Story Creator, students will interact with either a tablet, ipad,

suggests there could have been aboriginal people in Australia for up to 120000 years. By the time the
British arrived in Australia in 1788 there were approximately 260 different aboriginal groups speaking
around 500 different dialects. Aboriginals lived a semi nomadic life, moving around an area according
to the seasons, and because of this, material things weren t too important for them, at least not as much
as family, relationships, community and spirituality. According to their beliefs, land has a very

The Redeeming Qualities of South Park Essay
The television show South Park is a very controversial show which has been attacked by the media,
politicians, parents, the school system, and just about every other social group imaginable. Why is the
show so controversial? The reason it is attacked so thoroughly is because of its crude humor and
vulgar displays by its characters, as well as the fact that it attacks the thoughts and beliefs of every
religion in the world. This vulgarity and intolerance is most notable in the character Cartman, who is
extremely offensive in his thoughts, ideas, and actions. The show does, however, provide a balance to
Cartman s antics through his co stars Stan and Kyle. Stan, and Kyle almost always stand up to
Cartman and ridicule his intolerance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Censorship has been around as long as written words have been available to the general public, and
whether or not that suppression of ideas is a good idea or not does not change the fact that it is the
parent s job to decide what their children will be allowed to read, watch, or play with. Those who
criticize the show based on these offenses are either being intolerant themselves, or not paying close
attention to the deeper meaning of the show. The show centers around Cartman as the antagonist, who
regularly provides insulting views, and Stan and Kyle, whom provide opposing views in order to
balance out Cartman s stances. An example of this occurs in the episode Something This Way Wall
Mart Comes. Wal Mart s overtaking of towns, and the social injustice that occurs with its arrival, is
portrayed as a local small business that they boys shop at is closed because of the loss of business that
occurs when Wal Mart comes to their town. After reflecting on their friend s plight Stan says See, that
sucks dude and Cartman replies What, that s called progress Kyle (Parker and Stone, 2004). This is
just one example where Cartman shows his selfish nature. All he cares about is the fact that a huge

The Haitian Revolution Essay
The cause and effects of the Haitian Revolution have played, and continue to play, a major role in the
history of the Caribbean. During the time of this rebellion, slavery was a large institution throughout
the Caribbean. The success of the sugar and other plantations was based on the large slave labor
forces. Without these forces, Saint Domingue, the island with the largest sugar production, and the rest
of the Caribbean, would face the threat of losing a profitable industry.
The Haitian Revolution did not just start and end in one day. Instead, the entire revolution took place

In France at the time, the relatively homogenous ethnicity allowed for the convenient and commonly
accepted divisions of social ?estates?. By contrast, the colonies were culturally and ethnically plural.
Rather than ?estates,? the colonies,...had ?castes?, whites, free persons of color, and the slaves (Knight
203). While the black slaves formed about 80 percent of the population on the island of Saint
Domingue, the upper strata was divided between color and class. The population of Saint Domingue at
the time was classified into three main categories. Each main category was then subdivided. The
whites were divided between the gran blancs and the petit blancs; the free blacks were usually referred
to as the gens de couleur; and the slaves were called affranchis.
Another factor which must be understood before explaining the events that took place before, during,
and after the revolution is the general geography of the island itself. In 1789, Saint Domingue was not
a unified colony. It was divided geographically, topographically, and agriculturally into a eastern and
western sides. The western part of the island, Hispanola, belonging to the Spanish and the Eastern
portion, Saint Domingue belonging to the French. The Spanish side was again split into three distinct

Research Paper On Black Rhinoceros
The endangered animal I have chosen for this project is the diceros bicornis, more commonly known
as the black rhinoceros or the hook lipped rhinoceros. The origin of the black rhinoceros scientific
name, diceros bicornis, is quite interesting. Dicero from the Greek word di translates to two and ceros
translates to horn. Bicornis from the Latin word bi translates to two and cornis translates to horn. The
black rhinoceros scientific name describes their most prominent physical features, their double horns.
There are four different subspecies within the black rhinoceros family whose names differ according
to their geographical location within Sub Saharan Africa, namely the South Central Black Rhinoceros
(diceros bicornis minor), the South Western Black Rhinoceros (diceros bicornis bicornis), the East
African Black Rhinoceros (diceros bicornis michaeli) and the West African Black Rhinoceros (diceros
bicornis longipes). The black rhinoceros was first classified as an endangered species in 1986 and
remained on the endangered list until 1996 when it was reclassified as a critically endangered species.

Shintaro Ishihara s argues that Japan has the ability and will become first among equals. His mindset
was created through the positive economic turn in Japan after the war, also known as the economic

argument that Japan s technological advancements could potentially lead to more independence from
America. Specifically, Japan s technological work on the microchips used in America s entire nuclear

Nonetheless, the 1990s was the start of a new American policy in Asia, specifically focused on Japan,
and an unrelenting period of competition between free market capitalism and non capitalist market .
However, the 1990s is dubbed as Japan s lost decade, a time the powerful and privileged lost while the
ordinary people benefited . The lost decade was a period when the economy imploded, the asset
bubble collapsed, banks teetered on the edge of insolvency, unemployment skyrocketed, suicides
increased and the leaders of Japan, Inc. were tarnished by exposes of pervasive corruption . The lost
decade encompassed the loss of money, security, stable families, and the credibility of the nation s
leadership. Again, a part of the lost decade is corruption and the vast majority of postwar prime
ministers have been implicated in corruption scandals . In addition, the corruption involved the

Online Degree Programs versus Residential Degree Programs...
Assignment Our assignment was to research benefits for online degree programs and benefits for
residential degree programs. We are then supposed to tell our stance on the issue.
I There are many reasons for online degree programs. My class came up with numerous good, solid
reasons in favor of getting a degree online. They are as follows:
Less costly
No commuting
Ability to work classes around schedule
More focused use of time
Specialized degree programs (with no general education requirements)
Credits transfer
Flexibility in completing assignments
Don t have to sit in a classroom
Faster completion possible
No campus drama

More career options

For flexibility, we realized that the student would have flexible classes. They would be able to work
whenever they needed to wherever they needed to. For example, if an online student had a job, family,
or both, they would be able to pursue their degree while also taking care of their family or working.
They would be able to complete their classes wherever there was an Internet connection. My last
category was student experiences, and numerous reasons fit under this heading. To begin, there are
actually more interactions with students when they take an online class because they need to interact
with the teacher and other students more. Online classes also teach students discipline and time
management skills since the work load is done on their own time. There are numerous reasons for
online classes; my class came up with copious reasons and then I categorized the reasons into four key
components: money, opportunities, flexibility, and student experiences.
II My class listed many online sources where they found helpful information regarding the benefits of
residential colleges. Combining some of my class s resources and some I found on my own, I came up
with one major benefit of residential colleges: most of the learning in college happens outside the

Censorship And Propaganda Essay
Historical/Cultural Focus: Propaganda and Censorship
Throughout history, governments and political entities have attempted to alter and control the
information that reached its citizens. Utilizing propaganda to persuade and censoring information by
not allowing citizens to gain full knowledge of events have been two of the most common ways that
governments have attempted to control their citizens.
Governments, groups, and individuals engage in propaganda when they choose to manipulate, alter, or
control information with the purpose of forming or intensifying a particular response or opinion in
their target audiences. The term propaganda began when Pope Gregory XV established the Sacred
Congregation for Propagating the Faith, a group charged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The technique of transfer, defining or judging someone by who they do or do not associate with, is
also frequently employed as propaganda. The McCarthy trials of the 1950s utilized transfer when the
judges frequently decided if a person was or was not communist based solely on whom the accused
did or did not speak to or associate with. Testimonials are frequently utilized to heighten a leader s
appeal. This often appears when celebrities declare which product or candidate they support, but is
also frequently utilized in a court setting when an attorney places an expert witness on the stand

Polar Bear Evolution Is a Continuing Story Essay
Polar Bear Evolution is a Continuing Story
The polar bear, the largest land carnivore in North America, one of the largest animals in the world
and a favorite at zoos worldwide, has, over the years, adapted to its harsh Arctic environment. The
appropriately named ursus maritimum or sea bear usually lives between 15 and 18 years in the wild
and spends most of its life on ice. It is the most recent of the eight bear species. The first polar bear
was a brown bear subspecies, with brown bear dimensions and brown bear teeth. The polar bear
evolution was rapid due to the small population and extreme pressure to survive. Even today, the polar
bear continues to evolve to better adapt to the harsh realities of Arctic life.
Today s polar bear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evolution of the polar bear also resulted in curved, needle sharp claws for clinging to ice and grabbing
prey. In addition, they developed large, partially webbed paws to assist with swimming. On land, their
enormous paws are useful for traveling across loose snow and the paws provide a bigger area to
spread their weight across on thin ice. Another adaptation is the polar bear s longer neck which is
needed to keep their head above water when swimming (Polar Bear Evolution 1995). All of these
characteristics, unique to the polar bear, have been part of its evolution.
The hearing and eyesight of polar bears is quite similar to human beings, however, over the years, the
polar bear developed an extraordinary sense of smell. According to Canadian Wildlife magazine, polar
bears can smell seals at ranges up to 32 kilometers (2002). They can smell through thick snow and
even through ice. This unique ability was an important part of the evolutionary process for survival in
Arctic conditions where vegetation is severely limited and food may be miles away.
The favorite food of the polar bear is the ringed seal, however if hungry enough, they will eat other
breeds of seals including bearded, harp, hooded and harbor. Polar bears will also eat beluga whales
and walrus (Field Guide 2002). At times, they will even eat eggs, crabs and kelp (Milius 1994). The
polar bear is strong enough to lift a beluga whale, several times its own weight, out of the water for a
meal

Comparative Rhetorical Analysis Of Andy Stern
Comparative Rhetorical Analysis
Everyone views things a little differently, therefore different writers have different perspectives about
different subject matter. For example, while Andy Stern s stance is that technology will one day take
over the jobs of the working class Dean Baker thinks it has nothing to do with the rise in technology at
all and more to do with generating demand through government deficits. The way Stern successfully
incorporates ethos, pathos, and logos in his piece of writing is more appropriate and effective in
accomplishing rhetorical purpose than Baker s writing.
Ethos is basically the authors credibility, the reader must decide if the author of the writing is
trustworthy and believable. Pathos is how to author appeals

One of the easiest ways to succeed at a job is to simply show up and do your job. For some people, it s
not very easy to show up for work. There are numerous reasons, some valid and some not, for people
not showing up to work. Whether it s is illness, or family responsibilities, or change of weather, people

finances, morale and other factors. This passage looks at the causes of absenteeism, the costs of lost
productivity and what employers can do to reduce absenteeism rates in the workplace. People miss

Yokuts California Case Study
The Yokuts: A California Case Study
The Yokuts inhabited the San Joaquin valley in California. There were over 40 independent groups
and each of them had a distinct name, dialect and territory. The San Joaquin Valley is bounded by
mountains on the east, west and south and to the north flow the Kern and San Joaquin rivers into the
ocean. The climate in the valley is hot with dry mild summers, semiarid winters and very minimal
precipitation. Originally, the area was rich in a network of rivers, streams, lakes and sloughs fed by
waters from Sierra Nevada to the east and it is very productive and rich in resources such as food,
wood for construction, firewood and manufacturing tools. After these rivers and streams were diverted
for agricultural purposes, the valley dried up and became a vast area of farmland. The foothills
elevations are higher and cooler and are occupied by some Yokuts groups. They managed their
environment both passively and actively to improve forage for deer, eliminate underbrush growth,
make it easy to traverse, and for hunters as well. Passively, they did religious ceremonies to ensure the
continuation of favorable conditions.
The Yokuts spoke the Penutian language but each mini tribe spoke a different dialect. The earliest
recorded contact with the Europeans was when the Spanish came looking or renegade soldiers.
Spanish expeditions to the San Joaquin took Yokuts to missions but then the United States seized
California from Mexico and the territory got

How Is Diction Used In Woman At Point Zero
Money is typically a neutral, necessary item that makes a big impact on one s everyday life. To make
their points, authors often add a certain connotation to the people that use the money, rather than
money itself. Nawal El Saadawi describes a society in which many use money for selfish reasons,
often suppressing other groups, like women, in the process, which represents a negative attitude
toward the people that use the money. In her novel, Woman at Point Zero, Nawal El Saadawi
frequently mentions the appearance of physical money through linked scenes to illustrate that,
although one s power in society often dictates other people s perception of him/her, he/she should still
attempt to gain respect through hard work and attitude.
First, Saadawi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, she demonstrates an epiphany when Firdaus rediscovered the truth that I had already
discovered many years before... (134). By connecting the two scenes through a reference to the time
that Firdaus first held money when she was younger, Saadawi creates this epiphany because Firdaus
makes a realization that she does not need money for other people to respect. If Firdaus had kept that
money, she would be like her younger self, relying on other men to support her. But since Saadawi
believes otherwise, she conveys through linked scenes that one should not have to rely on other people
s money to gain respect from others. Since these are linked scenes, any major differences Saadawi
makes are most likely deliberate. One of these changes between the scenes is Firdaus attitude toward
money. In the first scene, she is happy and prideful about having money, however, in this case she is
so disgusted by it that she tears it up. Firdaus perception of money did not change, but it was her
perception of what money did to others and herself. Therefore, Saadawi creates a bitter tone by
criticizing the use money as a means for people to control those who are not as

Cuban-American Relations
Cuban American relations have been increasingly rocking since the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
Recently there has been a shift towards normalizing relations with Cuba during Barack Obama s
presidency. Why are Cuban American relations improving since 2008? One must know some
historical background such as the Cold War and how Cuba and the US operated during the Cold War.
Scholars have debated Cuban American relations since 1959 and even before, however, for the first
time since before 1959, the US has decided to normalize relations which allows for scholars in both
Latin American and the US explore Cuba even further. The normalizing of relations allows for

The idea that Obama must preserve his legacy is something that is not new to US Presidents. Looking
at Obama s first term in office is important because it sets up his second term where he truly starts
looking at Cuba and this idea of normalizing relations starts to take shape. The strength of Obama s
political agenda during his first term was wavering and Obama was truly focused on domestic issues
and domestic reforms following the Bush Administration. Obama was mainly focused on ending the
Iraq War and handling the bailouts and other reforms that got implemented as soon as he entered
office. Foreign policy, for the most part, was pushed to the back burner for Obama s first term. Obama
ran on domestic reform and that is what he tried to do. The Arab Spring was an event which made
Obama look more into foreign policy and he had deal with the fallout of that towards the end of his
first term and the beginning of his second one. Arab Spring and Obama s handling of it made his first
term tricky and challenging. Obama s first term in office was marked by political, economic, and
social problems following the global financial crisis and therefore could not focus as much on foreign
policy but when Obama did look at foreign policy and what he wanted to accomplish as President
during his first term, he was mainly focused on reversing the trends as established by Bush in the

We Are What We Eat Analysis
The importance of food to identity formation is certainly not unique to the immigrant experience.
Whether a part of invisible majority culture or deviant minority culture, food environments influence
our constructions of credos and categories. Generally speaking, eating preferences and behaviors are
part of familial and societal legacies. We may prepare the signature dishes of deceased relatives to
mark holidays or guard the secret ingredients of a family recipe. In other instances, particular spices
may evoke strong emotions or memories in us. Even in disordered eating behaviors, we tend to reflect
social values and constraints.145

Incidentally, food is one of the habits that immigrants in the US often maintain to some degree, even
as many other cultural practices slowly decline. 147 Several factors support this phenomenon,
including food s ability to: provide the immigrants with a daily portion of home, communicate cultural
values and social economies, as well as aid in the process of economic mobility. Food literature
expresses this legacy of migration, reflecting these same beliefs and their consequences.
For this reason, the identity discourse on food and survival resembles the lived experience of early
Arab immigrants.148 Like many other immigrant populations, they formed ethnic enclaves, in which
they continued many of their previous cultural practices, including those that involved food.
As Naff chronicles in her detailed history, Becoming American: The Early Arab Immigrant
Experience, Each settlement was, in fact, a stage on which the memories of village life were
reenacted. 149 Naff goes on to describe the eating habits of these early settlements, which preserved
Syrian foodways as much as possible. She writes: Their preference

It s almost impossible to find an online crime that can t benefit from computer forensics services. Any
information that is passed along through computers, fax machines or cell phones, to name a few, can

One service provided by computer forensics includes electronic discovery. This is where documents,
email, intellectual property, trade secrets, copyright issues, databases, internet activity, instant

All of these services are important aspects of the computer forensics realm. Each area needs to be
carried out in a very specific and careful way so no evidence is ever tampered with or mishandled.
Each step of the process is just as important as the first which is why it takes many years of experience
to be considered an expert in this field. Each project should be considered as valuable as the next and
it s not only important to maintain the services currently offered through computer forensics but to

Persuasive Essay On Criminal Crimes
majority of the main criminals are still on the loose and in many instances when they are being
questioned and asked why they did it. There answer is usually based of them saying it was easy and
that the government s security is terrible and can easily be cracked. That s why it happens its low risk
high reward.
My first case I want to share is about a man named Jonathan James according to the New York Times
Jonathan was only a minor when he began hacking into major government agencies. Such as the
United States defense department and National Aeronautics and space administration aka N.A.S.A. he
illegally downloaded and stole data, which caused N.A.S.A computers to shut down for three weeks
causing the agency to lose money. In his defense Jonathan said he did not do anything destructive and
that his actions were based solely on curiosity. However it caused NASA 41,000 $ to fix and diagnose
there software and information. Jonathan was sentenced only six months under house arrest due to the
fact he was a juvenile at the time the crimes were committed. He also had to wright an apology note to
NASA and the other government agencies he breached he was banned from using computers for a
certain amount of time during specific circumstances as well. When he was released he was constantly
questioned and accused of being involved in other various cybercrimes which eventually made him
commit suicide in 2008 in which he wrote on his suicide note,

  • 2. Defining The Short Squeeze Event 1 IntroductionBefore defining the Short Squeeze event, I will explain the concept of Short sellingof stocks. Short selling is a strategy, where an trader borrows stocks of firms from abroker and sells those stocks in the market with the condition of returning the stocksback to the broker at later point of the time. Traders execute this strategy when theexpected future returns of stock performance is bleak or have negative outlook.Forexample, if the future expected earnings, sales, cash flows of the company is expectedto decline in next quarters, the investors will short sell the the stock now and buythe stocks in future and return the borrowed shares to the brokers. This strategy is contrary to normal investment strategy where investors ... During our literature survey, we observe that some studies suggestthat high levels of short interest predict future returns, but the rationale behind thisthis predictability is not well understood. There are various theories that lead todifferent interpretations. One of the study suggests that stocks are overvalued in thepresence of short sale constraint and hence the subsequent negative abnormal returnsrepresent a correct of this overvaluation. Second suggests that short interest sellersare highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rochester Youth Development Study One study conducted by Chen, Propp, deLara, Corvo at Syracuse University School of Social Work hypothesized that victims of childhood neglect are more likely to be arrested for juvenile drug and alcohol offenses than their community matched pairs (Chen et. al, 2013). They also proposed that adolescents who are male, minority, and neglect victims are at the greatest risk of being arrested for juvenile drug and alcohol offenses. This is concurrent with my position that neglected children are at an increased risk for juvenile delinquency. The study utilized data and findings from the Childhood Victimization and Delinquency, Adult Criminality, and Violent Criminal Behavior in a Large Urban County in the Northwest United States, 1980 1997 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Cathy S. Widom of the Department of Psychiatry at the New Jersey Medical School, showed that youth who had been abused or neglected as children were more likely to be arrested as juveniles (27 percent versus 17 percent), adults (42 percent versus 33 percent) and for a violent crime (18 percent versus 14 percent) than a comparable control group of young people with no comparable history of abuse or neglect. In the early study by Widom, the researcher followed children who had been abused and/or neglected approximately 25 years earlier through an examination of official criminal records, then compared them with a matched control group of children of the same age, sex, race, and approximate social class (Widom, 2017). The author conducted this research in a metropolitan county in the Midwest using cases of child abuse and neglect that came to the attention of the courts from 1989 through 1992. An assessment of criminal behavior found that early child abuse and neglect increased the risk of arrest as a juvenile by 55% and increased the risk of being arrested for a violent crime as a juvenile by 96%. These researchers also found that those with a history of being abused or neglected were younger at first arrest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Manuel Alvarez Bravo The history of Mexico is much different than the history of its northern neighbor, the United States (U. S.). At one time Mexican territory extended north into the Colorado area and west to California before ceding the property to the U. S. after the Mexican American War of 1846 1848. Mexico and most of South America had been settled by Spain upon encountering the New World in 1492. So South American Spanish colonies spoke Spanish, had a ruling class that was not native born called peninsulares who were born in Spain but lived and ruled Mexico. Mexican ties with Europe were strong and in its colonial days the rulers and upper class individuals tended to draw from European society to make Mexico feel like the place they left behind. With regard to Mexican Natives, Spaniards intermarried into ruling families just as if they were in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a time of a creative fertility, owing to the happy though not always tranquil marriage between a desire for modernization and the search for an identity with Mexican roots, in which archaeology, history and ethnology played an important role, parallel to the arts. In that span of time, Bravo kept the subjects of his pictures the same. He photographed Native people, their living conditions, relics, and landscapes. • 5. Buffalo Bill Annotation The American frontier is an era of great pride and taming of the nature with the will to conquer. American society is taught to never give up and peruse one s dream, to value that dream and do whatever it takes in order to achieve it. Although this provides a double edged sword for society as it can be the will on one side, but also be the downfall on another. For if any person is supposed to truly resemble the American frontier, then Buffalo Bill would be that image. Yet, in a Native American perspective, his double edged sword is a continually growing downfall for the culture. Sherman Alexie s poem Evolution shows an ever growing dived in reservations around America and the effects from its own poison. It is the perspective also into the past as well. For when the actual Buffalo Bill was born, indigenous groups further west were ousted from their lands just like those in the East. The sun essentially sets on the rise and fall of the Native people in this poem because it shows how a white man came into a reservation and caused the same 200 hundred year old pain again. Not only is there that pain, Buffalo Bill has the bill that Native Americans pay in order to destroy their own legacy. The reservation only gets smaller as the Natives leave and the blood toxicity lessens while the blood alcohol levels increase. True indigenous people and their descendants are essentially evolving into a new breed of people, and the only relict to show their presence is when Buffalo Bill closes the pawn shop and paints a new sign over. Calling it the THE MUSEUM OF NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURES. Yet to even know about such information, Buffalo Bill requires that one pay the bill, and this only results in seeing the things the same Native people had just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. How Does Shakespeare Present Gender Stereotypes In Macbeth How Shakespeare reinforces or challenges gender stereotypes Macbeth Shakespeare delves in to the gender expectation of characters in his plays. He tends to play with the expectations and stereotypes of gender. He challenges and conforms to these expectations through characters and their personalities. Shakespeare does this to provoke his audiences understanding of what gender roles are. These gender roles are displayed through Macduff, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The gender stereotype of what constitutes a real man is displayed perfectly by Shakespeare in this scene. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is said to be a valiant soldier that has won the battle for them. The king congratulates him along with the army of men which also commend him on his duties. Stereotypically, a man is displayed as emotionless and immune to pain. They do not express their feelings and are strong. In this scene, Shakespeare, has thoroughly challenged this. Macduff is displayed as courageous man with no fear, this is reinforced by Duncan himself Front to front Bring thou this fiend of Scotland and myself. Within my sword s length set him . • 9. Consequences Of Esperanza Rising Many people who have read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan believe that Esperanza and her mother should have stayed in Mexico, but in my opinion, I believe that they were right to leave for California. If they stayed, they would have had to face several consequences, one being having to live with Esperanza s uncle, despicable Tio Luis. At the same time, when they went to California, they did not have to leave everything behind, it was a choice they made. After all, as Esperanza herself said in the book, Do not ever be afraid to start over. (p. 253) Esperanza and her mother made the choice to leave Mexico and go to California to work and escape Tio Luis, which I believe to be a good decision. Before going, Esperanza was spoiled, rich, and quite full of herself, living in a high social class family, and in general thought of herself better than others. At first, she was against leaving everything she knew and loved, but in the end, found herself liking California. Esperanza made new friends, in particular, Isabel, who taught her many things, even though she was younger. She taught her how to appreciate what she had, and how to get a job done. She taught her how to deal with the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, while several stay, several leave as well, and it is therefore up to those said people to decide. A point often overlooked, though, when all of the numbers are in the air, it is very easy to forget that these are people, not just statistics. Old Major had a dream that animals are treated with equality and he wanted to address it to the rest of the animals on the far. All the animals on the farm respected Old Major because he was wise and he thinks about life when he sits alone in his stable. The purpose of Old Major s speech was about his wisdom, how animals are treated, not respected and later when they are unhelpful they are killed and what they were going to have to do about the issue going go Old Major begins his speech by implying his wisdom and long life. Old Major s feeling towards the topic that he holds about animals lives is strong because he has had time to understand the meanings that the animals are given to the humans and disagrees about the miserables lives they live. Thus, Old Major does say that animals lives are unjustified that he wants to make a rebellion. Old Major closes his speech by saying that they should do a rebellion. Old Major tells the animals, That is my message to you, comrades: Rebellion! I do not know when the that Rebellion will come, . . . sooner or later justice will be done, (7) that they will have their justice. • 11. Dr. Martin Luther King s Principles Of Nonviolence Dr. Martin Luther King s philosophy showed not only Americans but humans in general the necessity to fight for equality and real freedom without hurting those who oppose our points of view. Dr. King s Six Principles of Nonviolence have become a bible for those fighting for the most just causes in the planet and years after his dead his knowledge and ideals still inspiring people from different races, religions and cultures. In Venezuela a man called Leopoldo Lopez is a living example of the validity Dr. King s values have in our time. Lopez was the head of a movement to ask for the resignation of Venezuela s dictator Nicolas Maduro through pacific demonstrations on the street all over the country. Venezuelans response to Lopez s call was tremendous and thousands of people went out to the streets to reestablish the democracy and the dignity of a country where toilet paper, milk, diapers and other basic goods are a privilege. Maduro s forces tried to silent the people by using violence. The final results were 43 demonstrators dead, thousands injured and around 1500 arrested including Lopez. But Lopez arrest was not a normal one. After the first demonstration in Caracas, the government issued an order to detain Lopez. Review Of The Sci Fi Ben Moulton Erika Harnett ESS 102 AA 15 Apr. 2016 Deadly Debris Humans tend to think of space as infinite, that is true as far as we can tell, however the space around Earth is not infinite. After the Space race began in the late 1950 s countries began sending satellites into space for various purposes. Today these Satellites are very important to everyday life, but there is a looming problem that has often been overlooked. Low Earth orbit, where most satellites and spacecraft are located is filled with the remains of many old and decaying satellites. Space debris is very dangerous for any human or structure in space and could eventually make low Earth orbit too hazardous to ever use again. The Sci Fi paper I am currently working on is a story about a group of astronauts in the near future who are returning from mining an asteroid. In this story it is much like the moon landings in that people were very intrigued at first but have lost interest now. These are just routine missions that hardly anyone knows or cares about. This all changes however when two satellites in high orbit on Earth collide, one being a communication satellite with the astronauts. The unaware astronauts, now returning to Earth, have no idea what is hurtling toward them at 15,000 miles an hour. NASA is unable to reestablish communication quickly enough and the craft is hit. Now adrift in space the astronauts struggle to survive in the most hostile environment for humans. There are over five hundred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The importance of implementing technology in an academic setting is crucial due to the modern world being a highly technological economy. Cell phones, computers, ipads, and other technological instruments have made its way into almost every industry, including the education field, and will only continue to increase. With a technological device in hand, students are broadening their learning by being more creative, imaginative, and further engaging their cognitive thinking as opposed to being restricted to writing with paper and pencil. Statistics show that students that interact with tablets and computers score higher on tests and overall perform better in the classroom. Therefor, teachers should do what they can comprehend how these technological devices work and find fun, creative, lessons for students. The main purpose of this lesson is to have students successfully create their own scrapbooks by using descriptions, pictures, and drawings that illustrates what each student is passionate about. Ideas could be hobbies such as dance, basketball, fishing, rock collections, etc., or volunteering at the local animal shelter. The Redeeming Qualities of South Park Essay The television show South Park is a very controversial show which has been attacked by the media, politicians, parents, the school system, and just about every other social group imaginable. Why is the show so controversial? The reason it is attacked so thoroughly is because of its crude humor and vulgar displays by its characters, as well as the fact that it attacks the thoughts and beliefs of every religion in the world. This vulgarity and intolerance is most notable in the character Cartman, who is extremely offensive in his thoughts, ideas, and actions. Those who criticize the show based on these offenses are either being intolerant themselves, or not paying close attention to the deeper meaning of the show. The show centers around Cartman as the antagonist, who regularly provides insulting views, and Stan and Kyle, whom provide opposing views in order to balance out Cartman s stances. Another adaptation is the polar bear s longer neck which is needed to keep their head above water when swimming (Polar Bear Evolution 1995). All of these characteristics, unique to the polar bear, have been part of its evolution. The San Joaquin Valley is bounded by mountains on the east, west and south and to the north flow the Kern and San Joaquin rivers into the ocean.
