The document discusses how the magazine cover, contents page, and articles were designed to attract the target audience of teenagers interested in rock music. The cover uses fonts, colors, and images commonly seen on rock album covers and magazines. Article titles and band names intrigue readers without providing too many details. Sections and a brief introduction under each title makes the contents page easy to navigate. The layout of the sample article uses varied designs like a pull quote and question/answer format to engage readers in an unusual yet accessible way. White space, relevant questions, and a conversational tone aims to welcome the target audience.

2. The front cover attracted the audience by having the
masthead as ‘AMPLIFY’ which is traditionally associated
with electric guitars which is associated with rock music.
The font of the masthead is also looks similar to that if an
amp sign. The colours used are also what I found to
expected in a rock magazine in my research. The colour
scheme is also matched to the clothes of the artist which
gives the cover a cleaner, and therefore more inviting
feel.
There is also a secondary image of an electric guitar on
the front to make it clear what genre of magazine it is
which would attract my target audience more.
On the front cover, I also made the cover lines more
interesting and clear that the main cover line linked to
the cover image.
In the frame on the right, the names of the bands don’t
have any other information which will intrigue the
audience as to what the articles are about for well known
bands.
The cover again looks easier to read and understand as it
on a white background which contrasts to the colours of
the cover lines which are much darker colours.
The price of the magazine is £2.99 which I found in my
research to be a reasonable price for my target audience
as it isn’t too expensive.
3. The contents page attracts the audience more as there is
only one image on there which makes the page a lot
easier to read and understand as you’re not having to
focus on too many things at once.
The colours scheme is the same as the front cover other
than the blue which gives the magazine a more
professional look and would therefore attract the
audience.
The magazine is split into sections to make it easier to
find an article they would want to read which will attract
the audience as my target audience are teenagers and
are less likely to want to read a lot of writing.
Underneath each article title, there is a brief
introduction to the article which aren’t too formal so
that the audience can relate to it. It also isn’t too
informal so the audience feel belittled.
The editor’s section is also at the bottom of the page as
that is the part of the contents page the audience are
less likely to want to spend time reading. Therefore, it
isn’t the first thing they see so they are not put off
buying the magazine as it’s a lot of writing.
4. The left hand page is quite clean and simple as
it doesn’t have a lot of writing on it. This
would attract the audience as my research
found they would like a mix of images and text
on the double page spread. The title of the
page also matches the masthead which again
keeps the house style making it look more
professional.
The image is also a long shot which is an action
shot which would attract the audience as the
artist is portrayed as how the audience would
see her.
There is also a use of a pull quote which hints
as to what the article will be about to persuade
the audience to read it. The copy isn’t too
informal or formal, it is in between which I also
found a popular request in my research.
The use of a drop cap and by line also make the
article look like it’s in a real music magazine
attracting the audience because of it’s
professional and friendly look.
5. The background image is making eye contact with
the reader to entice them into the article. The
use of an image as a background also varies the
style of layout. The difference of layout to most
magazines would attract the audience because of
it’s unusualness.
The article is also a question and answer format so
there isn’t just one big block of writing to read
which addresses my target audience as they want
something that is easy to read.
The questions asked in the article are also relevant
to the audience and is something of interest to the
people buying this magazine. Also, the copy (the
answers to the questions) is quite direct to the
audience and therefore makes them feel a part of
the artists life. This will attract them as they feel
welcomed.
The colours and font of the text and how the
questions are spaced out also makes it easier to
read and understand which is important because if
my target audience find something hard to read;
they probably won’t take the time to try and
understand it.
