The front cover of my magazine follows all the codes and conventions of a music magazine. The main image is of a
young pop star, using directed mode of address. This is appealing to the target audience as they will almost feel as
though the pop star is looking at them it makes them feel more involved and catches their eye when they are walking
past the magazine isle. The genre of my music magazine is pop; therefore I have used stereotypical colours which will
attract the target audience. For example I have included a lot of pink and purples in this magazine as these colours
connote femininity, Love, Beauty, compassion and power. This relates back to girls as most girls from 12-16 are obsessed
with how they look, gossip and other people. Also at this age everyone is trying to be better than the other, so the colour
purple implies power which encourages young girls to buy the magazine because they want to be the best and better
than everybody else. This uses the hypodermic needle syringe theory as it almost injects girls and makes them believe
that if they buy this magazine then they will have power as they will know about all the latest trends, fashions and gossip
before anyone else. The cover lines used on my front cover are very noticeable, and attractive, as I have used vibrant
colours which stand out which will suture the audience in and make them excited. It also fits in with the colour scheme.
The main cover line is bold and runs across the middle of the page which is often used in magazines such as top of the
pops, that way it is the first thing people notice other than the masthead, which attracts the target audience in to buying
the magazine. The masthead stands out and is very effective and runs across the top of the page. The colour of the
masthead is white as white connotes purity and innocents which relates back to my target audience as they are fairly
young teenagers. The colour stroke around my masthead is pink; this makes the masthead more visible to see and more
eye catching. The front covers follows the rule of thirds which makes the magazine look more professional organised and
sophisticated. My magazine uses both a skyline and a strapline; this is because it makes my magazine look more
structured and more appealing as it looks like there is a lot going on. The sky line tells the audience about winning tickets
which automatically catches there attention, it’s also one of the first things they will see when reading the magazine as it
is right above the masthead. The strap line tells you about what type of things will be included in the magazine which will
also appeal to the target audience. By having this on my magazine I believe it will make the target audience feel as if
my magazine is not boring and is very fun, which is the type of response I would want back in order for my magazine to
be a success. As this magazine is a first issue the Bar code and price are visible and is positioned in the bottom right hand
corner which is common in music magazines, my front cover also includes a sell line and a puff to attract the target
audiences attention. For example one of my puffs talks about winning a gift, this will excite the target audience.

My contents page follows the rules and conventions of a music magazine as it follows the rules of thirds and is spilt in
too columns. This is because it makes it look clear and professional and it makes it easier for the target audience to
read the articles and too see what article is on what page. The reason why each article as a page number next to
it is because it makes it easier for the reader to know what article they are interested in the most and want to read,
it’s a quick and easy process, in which will keep the target audience satisfied. There are also main images on their
related to certain articles which will excite and intrigue the audience. There are headlines and sub headings used
to spilt the articles in to different topics, which is also presented in many other music magazines too. The masthead is
also repeated on the contents page to consistency and to also make sure that the target audience is familiar with it
and recognises it for futures references. The colour scheme is the same as the front cover so that all the pages are
linked together to make the magazine look more realistic and professional. The contents page also includes other
social networking sites just like a pop magazine would, to promote the magazine even more. For example the
readers can now find magazines online.

My double page spread also follows codes and
conventions. There’s a masthead positioned
vertically on the main image. The main image is
placed on the left hand side of the magazine
and on the right hand side of the magazine is
the article. The article is a (Q&A) which is
commonly used in music magazines as it allows
you to interact with an artist/band. Readers
usually find this type of article more interesting to
read. There is a number in the corner of each
page so that it can easily be found. The target
audience can relate to the double page
spread to the front cover as it features the same
band. The masthead is also placed on the
double page spread to represent the whole
magazine altogether.
