Bauer Media would be the best institution to distribute the author's music magazine, as they have experience distributing similar magazines like Mojo, Q, and Kerrang. Bauer Media targets the same younger-middle aged audience as the author's magazine. Distributing through Bauer Media could help the magazine follow the success of Mojo, their largest music magazine in the UK. While other institutions like Time Inc. and IPC Media may also be options, they already distribute at least one music magazine, so may be less likely to take on another.

1. What kind of Media
Institution might
distribute your media
product and why?
2. Bauer media
Bauer media pride themselves on being one of the best distributor's
in the world with magazines like mojo, which is the UKs largest
music magazine, so I want them to distribute my magazines so I
can get more sales and my magazine to follow the successes of
mojo.
Bauer media tend to favor a younger to middle aged audience
with magazines like mojo. This would be similar to my target
audience as I have designed my magazine to fit in with the
same audience with cool artist names that 13-55 year olds will
know and love. This would mean that Bauer media would know
exactly how to distribute and publish my magazine in order to
reach success.
3. Time Inc. are all over the world with offices in London,
Amsterdam, Hong Kong and all over America as well as many
more. This would allow my my magazine to be sold in the best
places for the magazine where it is most likely to sell more.
More than 130 million people will connect to a time Inc. this
month this shows that Time Inc. are very successful and well
known this would mean that my media product would be
widely advertised by a successful cooperation meaning that
my magazine will be known by many and be as successful as
it could be.
Time Inc. have experience with similar magazines like NME
playing a large part in the great success that NME has
managed to reach. This would mean that the time Inc. team
would know how to advertise produce and deliver a successful
magazine.
4. IPC media is a very well known publisher
with 26 millions adults in the UK alone
reading a magazine by them so by using
them they will not only bring in a huge
audience as proven with magazines such
as Marie Claire and Look, attracting
millions worldwide. But will attract the
target audience I have set up my magazine
for with all there magazines being for
adults.
Furthermore they have experience with
music magazines with the very successful
music magazine being one of the
biggest names in the industry.
With them being a huge institution there
will be more funding available for things
such as advertisement which will ultimately
make my magazine a success.
5. Other thoughts
However all of these have at least one music magazine
on the market already and often a institution would not
take more than one music magazine at any one time
Bauer being an exception. A institution such as HELLO
ltd they are successful in that field but may be looking
to branch out to different genres in order to avoid being
bought out by bigger institutions.
This would lack experience but is a more likely chance
of it happening and would also have a substantial
amount of funds.
6. My First Choice
I think Bauer media would be the best
distributor for my magazine as they have
published and distributed magazines such as
Q and Kerrang many times before and my
magazine is very similar in style to these. This
would mean that they would have experience
and therefore expertise in this area meaning
my magazine could become a lot more
successful than if it was with any other
distributor. They also have the largest branch
in the UK with the largest music magazine in
the UK (Mojo) this shows they know how to
reach success with in the UK which is my
target audience as the all the artists in my
media product are British based. Unlike Time
Inc. who are more specialized to America.
