What kind of Media Institution might distribute
your media product and why?
 Egmont is a publishing company that distributes books and
magazines aimed at children from babies to teenagers.
 The company is one of the leading publishing companies in
the UK. The company promotes that the sells over 1 million
books and 1 million magazines which makes the publishing
ideal for my music magazine.
 Examples of magazines which the company publishes to
my target audience are Go Girl and We Heart Pop these
magazines cover the interests of the target audience.
 My music magazine would fit in with this publishing
magazine as the genre is similar to the existing magazines
in publication ‘We ♥ Pop’ in particularly as each of these
examples are trying to reach out to a demographic of
children and teenagers aged 7 – 15 by publishing content
which will interest the reader.
 Intermediate Media Company is made up of the
former groups Origin Publishing, Magicalia and
BBC Magazines.
 The company publishes over 50 magazines and
over 30 websites each displaying their high media
production values.
 Titles that target my music magazine are Top of the
Pops magazine (teenage – 10 to 15) and Girl Talk
magazine (pre-teen – 7 to 12), which includes
celebrity, fashion and music, content. Both of these
examples of magazines part of the company aim to
reach an audience of pre-teens and teenagers. My
magazine is a good fit for this publishing company
as the content of celebrity gossip, music and
stylings matching the existing magazine range for
this demographic..
Frontline Distribution
 Frontline works with media companies such as
Haymarket Media Group, BBC
Worldwide/Immediate Media Company and
Bauer.
 The company distributes and “sells magazines
through 55,000 retailers across the UK and Eire
to multiple retailers, specialist newsagents and
individual shops” suggesting that the company is
highly commended by publishing companies.
 I would use this distribution company because
they are reliable as they are trusted by major
publishing houses. Plus they retail magazines to
55,000 which will mean that the magazine sales
will be high.
Seymour Distribution
 Seymour distribution has shares with frontline
distribution suggesting they both promote magazines
of the same high quality.
 Seymour is the biggest distributor of UK magazines,
selling them internationally across 90 countries.
 Seymour is publishing partners with Egmont. For
example ‘Top of the Pops’ and ‘Go Girl’ are products
that are distributed by the company. They are
partnered with many publishing houses suggesting
they have a good reputation for making magazines
widely available.
 This distribution company would be good for my
magazine as it will give the product a global identity.
