MEDIA PRODUCT AND
WHY?
Question 3
Bauer media are a well known European-based publishing company that manages over 600 magazines. Bauer are
famous for publishing the music magazines Q and Kerrang!(rock/indie genre).These magazines have a similar
target audience of young adults to my own that would help market the magazine to its full potential and make it
more appealing to my target audience.They also have many other media platforms such asTV programmes and
radio stations such as KISS FM and magic which are popular with my target audience and would help market my
magazine efficiently.Approaching Bauer media would be very beneficial for my magazine due to their experience
in hugely music magazines of different genres, by them being approached to publish a new mainstream country
music magazine it would be beneficial to them as well as me as it expands their range of products and give my
magazine a platform.
Time inc. is a popular American publishing company that would be able to publish my magazine.Time inc is
merged withWarner communications and is owned by time warner.The company publishes over 90 magazines
including the hugely successful music magazine National Music Express (NME) which have a similar target
audience to mine with their focus being young adults however they also focus at a male audience specifically while
I’m trying to attract an equal audience. If time inc. published my magazine it would boost the success as they are a
company that know a lot about my target audience, also it may be that the fans of company may buy the
magazine as they know the successes forTime inc.Warner also ownsTV programmes such as cartoon network and
E! which have a wide audience which includes a target audience similar to mine in that they are teenagers/young
adults to young adults of both genders, meaning thatTime inc would be hugely beneficial in marketing my
magazine.
