Evaluation question 4
1.
2. We used media technologies throughout
the creation of our music video, album
cover and digipack. This was both
hardware and software but here I will
specifically focus on the several types of
hardware used.
4. HARDWARE: iMac (21.5)-2GHZ
intel core 2 duo memory 8GB
RAM (mouse/keyboard)- mac
It was the first and most important piece of hardware we
used and from the start to the end we used it
We used it for research,
Planning, and Construction.
The fast processer and
8gb ram meant we could
multi-task well which
helped when we needed
to have several programs like final cut, safari in the making of
our video. And PowerPoint final cut safari and Photoshop in
the evaluation questions. The graphics card isn’t the best but
it was sufficient for editing with final cut pro, a better graphics
card would make the video render faster and make it
smoother under load.
5. Imac 2
It aloud me to access several pieces of
software such as:
Final cut allowed me to create my music
video.
The album and Digipack work was created
on Photoshop,
PowerPoint was used to creatively display
the evaluation questions
Safari to access are blog as well as doing
research.
As you can see the iMac was essential for the
creation of our media coursework
6. HARDWARE: Photo
shoot equipment
The white backdrop reflected the light
and made it simple to edit in
Photoshop with a solid colour
background we could easily cut
around the person.
We have used the hemisphere 300
strobe light making it bright enough to
take a photo. It also created this effect
of harsh shadows implying mystery
and crime adding to the hoody affect.
We put a soft box on the strobe light to
disperse the light and give the subject
a softer, rounder light.
We used a horseshoe flash trigger
which sends an infrared signal to the
strobe light. Allowing us to create this
shadow affect on our model for the
album advertisement.
7. Cameras used
We used the Nikon D3100 digital SLR
14.2Mp camera for the Photo on our
Magazine advert picture, we had to play
with a lot of settings and light levels and
positions before getting the picture we
were happy with. Unlike a standard digital
camera it gave us better definition and
made it a lot crisper when it came to
lighting the editing in Photoshop.
We used the iPhone 4s to take the photos
for our inside cover. We used this as a
practice shot but it ended up being better
than a proper camera with the focus and
shutter speed being just right to create a
blurred effect similar to that in a cartoon.
8. HARDWARE used in
filming of our music video
We used this camera for the whole of our video.
The powerful DIGIC DV4 imaging processor
ensures higher image quality in low light and a
substantial reduction in image distortion as it
works together with the optical image stabilizer.
This was useful for us as there were some
areas with low light and we didn’t want to loose
quality. The camera had good autofocus and
was easy to use so we didn’t have to spend too
much time learning all the features.
Tripod
We used a tripod similar to this one here.
This aloud us to get a steady and
professional looking shot.
9. Bits and Bobs
We used an SD card throughout
our work but it was particularly key
with the filming of our music video
to then put it on to the computer to
be edited in final cut.
We also used the Sennheiser
HD201 headphones this gave
us better sound quality and
aloud us to get the video
perfectly in time with the beat of
the song.
