Why Did Ophelia Commit Suicide
Although Ophelia was a minor character in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, almost
everything that happened in the play directly affected her. She was forced to stop seeing her boyfriend
by her father, her boyfriend went mad for her love and eventually her father was murdered by her
boyfriend. All of these things really took a toll young Ophelia and caused her to go mad. There are
many differing arguments from scholars as to why Ophelia decided to commit suicide. Many think it
solely had to do with the death of her father while others believe it was a result of her breakup with
Hamlet. After researching this topic and reading many different opinions, I believe everything that
happened to Ophelia during the play messed with her emotions ... Show more content on

During this scene Hamlet tells her I did love you once.... You should not have believed me.... I loved
you not. She must wonder whether her father and brother were not right after all (Camden, On Ophelia
s Madness ). Ophelia s brother and father tell her that Hamlet s love is just a phase and having Hamlet
say this to her must be very confusing for her. She has been believing that Hamlet loves her which is
why he has gone mad, but now he is telling her he never loved her and is being very insulting to her.
Ophelia doesn t know what to believe and no one is helping her either. There are just a lot of mixed
signals and miss information she is being given which would cause anyone to go crazy because they

The Quake After The Earthquake

in his car with his children and had no idea what to do. So where did Haiti plan to start it s

money and some with services. Brazil: Aircraft delivering water and food, medicine, equipment, and a
Search and rescue team with sniffer dogs, Israel: Two plane loads of aid and rescue staff of 240,

Switzerland: A rescue team to arrive overland from the Dominican Republic. India: $1 million in

Americans alone raised $1.3billion dollars (Polyne,181). Of that $32 million of it came from the $10

Marriage and Divorce in Hard Times
Marriage and Divorce in Dickens Hard Times: A Statement on the Religious Morals of 19th Century
British Society
The Victorian era in England gave birth to the first real industrial society the world had ever seen.
With the rise of industry came large cities, an expanded working class population and the rapid rise of
imperialism. Although England was progressing towards a more powerful place in the world, its
citizens seemed to be drifting in the opposite direction. Oppressive laws and working conditions set
clear boundaries between classes in England. The most oppressive social and state laws were those
regarding to marriages and divorces. Just as the people of England felt trapped in the unequal social
structure of England, the same is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judge William Blackstone had announced that husbands could administer moderate correction to
disobedient wives, and there were other means: as late as 1895, Edith Lanchester s father had her
kidnapped and committed to a lunatic asylum for cohabiting with a man (Wojtczak, English Women s
History ). Although religion is not explicitly mentioned in Hard Times, religious values were involved
in the social structure of England. Social and government laws were based on religious morals. For
example, The Bible specifically states, Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and
likewise also the wife unto the husband (King James Version, 1. Corinthians. 7.3). The Bible notes
that the husband should treat his wife with benevolence. When one thinks of marriage, they think of
love and emotions. This certainly does not seem to be the case in Mr. and Mrs. Gradgrind s marriage.
A perfect example of this is when Mrs. Gradgrind quotes on her deathbed, You must remember my
dear, that whenever I have said anything, on any subject, I have never heard the last of it; and
consequently, that I have long left off saying anything (Dickens 151). To expand this further, The
Bible also notes that, Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his
wife: and they shall be one flesh (Genesis, 2.24). The Bible promotes the idea of a man and woman
being together as one flesh. To be one is to be equal or balanced. This is not the

Eveline Research Paper
Did Eveline Make The Right Choice?
The tale of Eveline is a very interesting story. Written by James Joyce in 1914, Eveline was part of a
collection of works entitled Dubliners. The story takes place in Dublin, Ireland around the time of
World War I. It is a narrative about a woman named Eveline who has a very important decision to
make. Eveline has met a sailor named Frank who is from Argentina and is visiting Dublin on vacation.
As the story proceeds, Eveline begins to develop feelings towards him and Frank asks her to
accompany him back to Argentina. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, Eveline s mother
passed away. Before her mother died, Eveline made a promise that she will care for her younger
siblings. Asides from the challenge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As much as Eveline was abused, she still cared for him, and he has feelings for her as well. As she
remembers, Eveline states that her father was becoming old and that he would miss her. Eveline then
goes on to recall a time where she was laid up for a day, and read a ghost story and made a toast for
her. One might argue that Eveline s conscience is beginning to take over her decision making. Eveline
states, in her home anyway she had shelter and food; she had those whom she had known all her life
about her (par.5). As Eveline is about to leave she begins to question the decision one last time.
However, Eveline states, Frank would save her. He would give her life, perhaps love, too, and it seems
as if Eveline is now questioning the life that Frank might provide her. by stating perhaps love, too (par.
18).
After taking into account the fact that she is unhappy in Dublin, Eveline is waiting at the station for
Frank. At this moment, Eveline is still unsure of exactly what she wants to do.If she went, tomorrow
she would be on the sea with Frank, steaming towards Buenos Ayres. However, as Eveline came back
to reality, one can argue that finally she woke up and realized that she knew nothing about Frank. She
was not sure about her feelings toward him and, her eyes gave him no sign of love or farewell or
recognition (para.

The Revolt of Boudicca Essay examples
The Revolt of Boudicca Boudicca was the Queen of the Iceni tribe and was married to the King of the
Iceni, Prasutagus. The Iceni were a tribe of Britons and their territory was in the east of England. No
one really knew what Boudicca looked like but Cassius Dio, a Roman historian, said that She was
huge and frightening to look at with a mass of ginger hair that hung to her knees. Her voice was as
harsh as her looks she dressed in a multi coloured tunic with a thick cloak fastened by a brooch flung
over it, and wore a heavy gold necklace. She shook a spear to terrify all who watched her (Boudicca
Against Rome by Ian Andrews p.23). Since 58 AD a rebellion was always looking likely because

No one really knows how many tribes joined her but Tacitus a Roman historian says there were the
Iceni, Trinovantes and others (Boudicca Against Rome by Ian Andrews 23). Boudicca gathered
together an army of about 120,000 men (The Romans discover Britain 9.26). Catus Decianus was
unaware of all this even though it was happening right in front of him. When Suetonius, the new
governor of Britain, was attacking Mona, Boudicca thought it was a perfect opportunity to start the
rebellion because Suetonius was out of the way. In 61 AD the rebellion started at Camulodunum
(Colchester). This rebellion consisted of mainly attacking Roman settlements and attacking Britons
who were pro Roman. Also for no obvious reason, the statue of Victory at Camulodunum fell with its
back turned as if it was in retreat from the enemy (The Romans Discover Britain 9.27). This war gave
the Britons hope and fear to the veterans. There also other signs, for instance the women said that they
had heard strange wild groans coming from the senate house while the theatre echoed with shrills and
howls. (The Romans Discover Britain 9.27). Also The sea turned blood red, and as the tide went out
objects like corpses were left behind (Graham Tingay 9.78). The Roman

Analysis Of John Updike s Araby
John Updike s penchant for appropriating great works of literature and giving them contemporary
restatement in his own fiction is abundantly documented as is the fact that, among his favorite sources,
James Joyce looms large.[1]
With special affinity for Dubliners, Updike has, by common acknowledgment, written at least one
short story that strongly resembles the acclaimed Araby, not only in plot and theme, but in incidental
detail. That story, the 1960 You ll Never Know, Dear, How Much I Love You like Araby tells the tale
of a poor, romantically infatuated young boy who, though obstructed by parental slowness, journeys
with innocent urgency, coins in hand, to a seemingly magical carnival only to find there, behind its
facades, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The self delusion in both cases leads quickly to an emotional fall.
At 19, Updike s protagonist, Sammy, is a good bit older than Joyce s at the opposite end of
adolescence, it would seem. While in Joyce s boy we readily believe such confusion between the
gallant and profane, I think we needn t assume that Sammy is likewise unable to distinguish between
the two quite normal impulses. His attraction to the girl in the aisle is certainly far more anatomically
and less ambiguously expressed than that of Joyce s boy to Mangan s sister. But it is Beauty that
confounds the issue. When human aesthetics come into play, when the object of a young man s carnal
desire also gratifies him aesthetically, that is when the confusion arises. in Irish Catholic Dublin of the
1890s,[3] such youthful beauty not surprisingly invokes analogies between Mangan s sister and the
Queen of Heaven (though the swinging of her body and the soft rope of her hair toss[ing] from side to
side [Joyce 30]), which captivate the boy, hint at something less spiritual than Madonna worship). And
while beauty s benchmarks in Sammy s more secular mid century America are more anatomical than
spiritual, Updike does have Sammy call his young femme fatal Queenie, and he does make her the
center of a trinity of sorts, showing her two friends at one point huddl[ing] against her for relief ( A P
189).
Once smitten, both young

Gun Control Laws Should Have A Balance
America has the highest amount of gun related deaths each year in the world. In Germany 381, in
France 255, in Canada 165 in the United Kingdom 68, in Australia 65, in Japan 39 and in the United
States, 11,127 (Moore Michael, 51:15 51:48). Since the United States has the highest number of
deaths, it is important to have gun control laws that restrict people from owning dangerous firearms
like machine guns. Gun control laws should support both sides of the debate. Of course, both sides
will not be completely happy with the laws created, but America should have a balance. In 2008, a
poll was taken stating: Adult poll respondents views on the meaning of the Second Amendment; An
individual s right to bear arms: Republican 51% and Democrats 41% (The History of the Right to Bear
Arms). Today, the United States is more divided on gun control than it has ever been. The Second
Amendment states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of
the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (Milestones in Federal Gun Control
Legislation). Unless the Second Amendment is changed, we cannot take the right from others to own
guns. However, the government should regulate the types of gun Americans can own and who can
own a gun because times have changed and American s mental health system is broken.
Decades ago, the United States was once a country where a gun was considered to survive and protect.
As Americans civilized the

Reflection On Francisco De Quevedo
Christopher Johnson s visit for our class on Francisco de Quevedo was a significant addition to our
ongoing discussion regarding the Baroque, as he was not only able to provide insights into our critical
reading of Quevedo s work as a scholar of the Baroque and translator of his poetry but also posed
questions and concerns that will undoubtedly continue to guide our thinking as we move from the
Baroque to the Neo Baroque. Starting from the premise of the Baroque as an aesthetic that demands
some kind of meta disciplinary work, I was particularly interested in Johnson s emphasis on the idea
of polarity. Although we had previously discussed the presence of a polarity of sorts in some of the
texts we have read, Johnson s attention to the term, emerging from Spitzer s essay, has prompted my
thinking towards not just the presence, but the development of this concept throughout. In Luis de
Góngora s Soledades, we see violent contrasts of the ascendant and the degrading vision. Sor Juana s
Primero sueño takes us on a voyage of the soul that escapes the body, and on a voyage of the internal
universe of the body that seems to facilitate the escaping of the soul. Quevedo s poetry showcases
both a skillfully mastery of the poetic structures and elements, yet conjugates this with often time very
un poetic topoi that emphasizes the scatological. I am eager to see how these polarities manifest
themselves in the neo baroque writings of Lezama Lima and Severo Sarduy, for example, but

Similarities Between Hamlet And Laertes
In the play Hamlet several acts of revenge are perpetrated. The most important of which are Hamlet s
revenge on Claudius, as Claudius was responsible for Hamlet s father s death because Claudius
wanted the title of King. There also is Laertes revenge against Hamlet as Hamlet was responsible for
the death of Laertes father because he thought he was Claudius. Both Hamlet s and Laertes s success
with their revenge plot can be seen as highly successful.
Hamlet is a highly dramatic character as well as a procrastinator The time is out of joint. O cursed
spite that I ever was born to set it right Hamlet. As indicated by this quote where Hamlet is yet again
over thinking and dramatizing his late father s (the ghost) request to kill Claudius for his crimes.
Hamlet s habit of over obsessing about this matter makes him a man of so called reason rather than
action. This negatively impacts on him, as his actions are then constantly postponed. Due to this
character trait Hamlet may be viewed as a poor revenge seeker.
This view is incorrect, because Hamlet more than makes up for this by not only killing Claudius and
fulfilling his father s wishes, but by also exposing Claudius crimes. He also experiences the success of
his revenge by witnessing Claudius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some may argue that Laertes was less successful than Hamlet because he did not witness Hamlet s
demise. Another argument is that he was actually manipulated by Claudius for Claudius own gain.
Laertes is a man of action rather than reason as shown by the following quote from where he tells the
King and the Queen his plan of action when he would next encounter Hamlet: To cut his throat i the
church. Laertes lack of reason causes him to be blinded by Claudius. This results in him being a pawn
in Claudius game rather than the master of his own need for

River Tees Drainage Baisin Essay
River Tees Drainage Baisin
The river Tees flows from the Pennines in Cumbria, northwest England, to the North Sea via Tees
Bay. Its length is 130 km / 80 miles. Its port, Teesport, handles in excess of 42 million tonnes of water
per year. Its main tributaries are the Lune, Balder, and Greta. There are many factors affecting the
drainage baiins of the River Tees, many of these are human factors.
Water Barrage and Watersports: Much of the water nearing the sea is polluted with industrial waste,
sewage, and chemicals. The Tees Barrage, which opened in 1995, enables a 16 km / 10 mile stretch of
the river to provide clean, non tidal water. The barrage was built to improve the river s watersports ...

There are several reservoirs in the river basin used to store water to be used for later use. The
reservoirs also helps in flood control. Water levels can rise very quickly following a rain storm.
Storing water in the reservoir reduces flooding in the lower course.
Farming and Irigation Water: A major land uses in the upper Tees is rough grazing for sheep. The land
is too steep to use machinery, the growing season too short and the soils too thin and acidic For
growing crops and so not much water is needed for irigation in comparison to the River Severn. Only
where the land is less steep is the pasture improved by fertilizers, the occasional crop is grown,
requiring some irigation water from the Tees.
Hydro Electric power: There are no power plants along the Tees.
There are also many natural factors affecting the hydrology of the River Tees drainage basin, these
include:
Geology: There is a succession of falls, where the river traverses a hard series of black basaltic rocks,
the water flows fast her due to the steep down slope, the impermiable smooth rocks also allow fast
flow and no infiltration, and so at times of heavy percipitation the water level at these points in the
river will rise sharply and the power and speed of the river will increase. At flatter areas of these
basaltic rocks the river can flood easily.

Creating An Information Management System
Management Summary Summary of requirements Club IT recognizes the pitfalls of their antiquated
system. Creating an information management system will advance their business protocols and
provide a cohesiveness between inventory control, wait staff monitoring, and data security. Adding an
additional focus on WiFi availability is an advantage to Club IT and their customers. Inventory control
is a primary concern to prevent overstock and out of stock dilemmas. Overstocking products effects
the budget negatively. Out of stock products essentially effects revenue negatively and hinders
customer satisfactions. A business intelligence model that encompasses database functionality and a
point of sale (POS) system features would remedy many of the inventory control downfalls. The
automation provided by an information management system would allow ?critical? products to be
automatically ordered when a designated remaining stock percentage is reached. For non critical
products, a notification would be sent to the owners to determine if the product should be ordered now
or at a later date. Sale figure reports from the POS system would provide valuable information on sale
quotas for all products. Critical product ordering will be fully automated with confirmation supplied to
owners after product is ordered from vendor. Non critical products simply need the owner?s approval
for the automation process to complete the order. A POS system, combined with an accounting and

Similarities Between Cat People And Cat People
Both
Jacques Tourneur s 1942 film Cat People, along with Gunther von Fritsch 1944 follow up, Curse of
the Cat People, remain legendary pieces of artistic restraint. While many horror films of the era
painted their monsters in broad strokes, Both Cat People films play like steady handed psychological
dramas; maneuvering in the shadows with subtle detail and control. While the films dutifully touch on
a wide array of themes, I believe each picture has an overarching theme Cat People s theme being the
fear of women/women s sexual agency and sexual repression, while The Curse of the Cat People
about imagination and parenting. I will be picking scenes from each film that I feel reinforce these
themes.

Review Of Saadawi s Farenheit 451
While Firdaus admires her body, Saadawi communicates the power and expression that Firdaus feels
which enables her to demonstrate her control of the society that is presented. In this scene, Firdaus
becomes an apprentice of Sharifa by working as a prostitute. The potential that Sharifa noticed in
Firdaus can be shown when Firdaus noticed that her eyes sparkle that attracted other eyes like a
magnet . Saadawi s usage of a simile demonstrates the peculiarness of Firdaus s eyes as if it doesn t
belong to a regular person but an object that demonstrates authoritativeness over others. When Firdaus
describes her own nose, Saadawi uses strong language to enhance the appearance of that nose. Firdaus
states that her nose is full and smooth with the fullness of strong passion . This enticing language
demonstrates the confidence of Firdaus, she knows that her body is attractive and can effortlessly
attract the male populace that heavily dominates the society Firdaus is in.

According to Simon Jenkins, a writer for the British newspaper The Guardian, states that there cannot
be a human freedom so personal as ordering the circumstances of one s own death...[yet]... the near
universal desire to be allowed to die in my own home is willfully disregarded (Jenkins 1). By allowing
yourself to have life, one would assume that this gives you freedom over other aspects of your

and define our lives, are we not denying the rights governments around the world were founded on? It
is the denial of these rights that allows the mental stress felt by patients to turn into physical pain.
Physical pain felt by patients is most often not caused by their injuries, but by neglect. Montana s
Death with Dignity Act, as stated by bioethicist Jacob Appel, is a hollow victory, as no physicians are
willing to give consented assistance. A physician neglecting to assist a patient with committing suicide
is more damaging than healing; it causes the patient to suffer through their injuries while searching out

Analysis Of The Song Diplo-Revolution
A Revolution The moments that matter are the ones that you will remember and cherish for the rest of
your life and the song Diplo Revolution (absence remix) is a song that can ignite those moments. This
song can be classified in the dubstep genre but because the original song is considered to be EDM
(Electric Dance Music) it is mixed up between the two genres. Kai (Alessia De Gasperis Brigante) is
the song writer and vocalist. She describes a value that she wants people to hear through her lyrics.
Kai was introduced to EDM by writing and singing for a very popular DJ named Diplo (Thomas

particular song makes people think about what they are listening to instead of just listening to the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Outdoor Cat
How many times have you seen a cat wandering outside alone, you thinks it s a stray but at closer
glance it has a collar, but why is it out there. On the loose? Just because it wants too? Outdoor cats are
at a higher risk of being hurt, getting lost and turmoil in neighbourhoods. An indoor cat is protected by
it s family and the house walls, but owners who let their cat out can find them self in a dilemma. These
cats can get taken, attacked or become lost. Outdoor cats can end up in neighbourhoods where there
are rude people or other animals. There is always a risk when going outdoors, but does it increase for
your pet?
A cat s claw is as sharp as a chef s knife and it could really hurt you, animals or itself. Cats are very
territorial animals, they don t like when they see other cats. An outdoor cat could come across another
cat who isn t so friendly. I personally have had this happen. My cat is an indoor cat, and even though
he doesn t go outside too often he is very territorial. There is this cat who comes around and jumps up
to the window ledge to play we don t know if that is his intentions or he wants to fight. On the insde
my cat is running back and forth, attacking the window trying to get to him. These events create a lot
of stress and anxiety on my cat. It s not just other cats are the problem it is also other animals. Outdoor
cats could attack other animals such as dogs, skunks, and so on. Cats are natural born hunters when it
comes to wildlife, but where do

Amalgamated Widget Case Study
Assignment 6. You are the CISO for Amalgamated Widget. The company wants to protect the data
link when employees visit the company website to work from home. Alice argues for using SSL and
Tina argues for using IPsec. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are used to allow a remote public
connection to an internal network. A VPN is essentially a virtual tunnel connecting a remote user
(Tunnel Vision). The traffic within the VPN tunnel is encrypted, and there are two ways to do this.
One way is Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) and the other is Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
Alice is arguing in the favor of SSL. Some reasons she might argue that SSL is a common protocol
and most web browsers have SSL capabilities already built in (Tony, 2003). Because of this, almost
every computer in the world is already equipped with the necessary software to connect to an SSL
VPN. Another pro of SSL is that they provide tunnels to specific applications rather than to the entire
corporate LAN. Any users on the SSL VPN connections can only access the applications that they are
configured to access rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some arguments Tina might use are that IPSec secures all data that travels between two points without
an association to any specific application (Tunnel Vision). When connected on an IPsec VPN, the
client computer is a full member of the corporate network, being able to see and potentially access the
entire network. With most IPSec VPNs, they require third party hardware and/or software. In order to
access an IPSec VPN, the workstation or device in question must have an IPSec client software
application installed. This is a pro because the third party must have it properly configured since the
company is paying for its services and means an extra layer of security since the company should be
monitoring their program. . These would be additional hurdles that an attacker would have to get
through before gaining access to your network (Tony,

Use of Informatics in Pain Management Pain Management is a specialty in modern medicine, which
focuses on treating all categories of pain such as spinal, neuropathic, sickle cell, and musculoskeletal
pain disorders. According to Johnson, Collett, and Castro Lopes (2013) pain management cases
constitute about a third of PCPs (Primary Care Physicians) appointments. However, only sixty percent
or less of patients treated for chronic pain in routine practice setting achieves adequate pain relief.
Some of the issues attributed to low success rate in chronic pain management can be associated with

According to Aiyegbusi et al. (2017), a sickle cell crisis is associated with episodes acute pain, which
is the leading cause of hospitalization for the victims of the disease. A single hospitalization, for a
sickle cell crisis case, may last from two weeks to over a month; hence, a patient encounters an
immense challenge of keeping a job. In addition, Careful medication is required to treat sickle cell
pain due to the frequent need to change drugs and the addictive nature of some substances used to
reduce pain. Therefore, managing such a condition in the current pain management environment can
be highly tasking to physicians and patients.
Methodology
A qualitative method was used to conduct the study on informatics due to the need of secondary data
about the topic. The approach was considered the best for that research due to time constraints and the
existence and easy accessibility of immense information on the study topic. Therefore, the study began
with an online search of secondary materials in digital libraries using a set of key words and phrases.

Paradox And Personification In The Hollow Man
Paradox and personification are two literary devices often used in literature. These literary devices
help poets convey certain meaning through their writing. This essay analyses the poems The Hollow
Men by T.S. Elliot and Death Be Not Proud by John Donne. These two poems were chosen because of
their use of literary devices and the manner in which they were able to communicate a deeper
meaning. The essay analyses the poems by examining their use of paradox and personification as well
how the devices impact the poem.
T.S. Elliot and John Donne use paradox and personification in their poems. A paradox is a statement
that seems to be false but upon further examination proves to be true. Personification is the action
giving a nonhuman object or idea human characteristics. The use of a paradox in the poem The
Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot helps convey the mood of the poem by communicating to the reader a more
profound meaning. The use of literary device in Death Be Not Proud by John Donne also helps
express the mood of the poem. It does so through the use of a literary personification. In poetry,
paradox and personification can be used to convey the mood of a poem.
The poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot uses paradox to convey the mood of the poem. The poem
The Hollow Men is about men who are standing in a field, describing what the afterlife is like. This
state of senselessness that the men are in creates a dull mood. It creates a mood of emotional void.
This mood is conveyed through paradox. In the poem, T.S. Elliot writes shape without form (line 11).
This is used to describe the hollow men and creates a paradox because having a shape means you have
a form, one cannot exist without the other. This is unless, it is thought of from a different point of
view. In art a shape is two dimensional while form is three dimensional. When T.S. Elliot writes shape
without form (line 11) it is not referring to the physical appearance of the men but rather their lack of
depth. It is referring to the men s flat personality. Similarly the line shade without color (line 11) is
used to convey the mood of the poem. This line from the poem creates a paradox because a shade is a
variation of a color, this means that a

Black Power Speech Analysis
Stokely Carmichael gave his most famous speech on the campus of the University of California at
Berkeley in 1966. His speech, Black Power, addresses the issue of black racism in America and gives
strategies for advancing black civil rights. His use of ethos, logos, and pathos is successful in getting
the audience to engage and connect with his speech. With blacks already on his side, Carmichael
chose to deliver his message to an audience filled with white, liberal college students to reach out to
more broad demographics. The element of pathos was used in the very beginning of his speech to
humor the young audience by referring to the Berkeley students as White intellectual ghettos of the
West (1). He continues his humor by calling the news reporters advertisers who are ... caught up in the
intellectual masturbation of the question of Black Power (1). The element of ethos is brought up in the
beginning of the speech when Carmichael talks about condemning oneself. He references that the
philosophers Camus and Sartre raise the question whether or not a man can condemn himself. The
black existentialist philosopher who is pragmatic, Frantz Fanon, answered the question. He said that
man could not (1). In order for a man to condemn himself, he would have to blame himself for his
actions, sentencing himself to a punishment. Carmichael states multiple different incidents in
American history and America s present where a man could not condemn himself, but the most
powerful is when he describes how the white America could not. He says this because he believes that
the institutions in this country are clearly built upon racism (1). People in the audience would be more
open to agree with this opinion because he made it clear in the beginning of the speech that he is
knowledgeable and credible. He also addresses Lyndon B Johnson a few times in his speech because
he did not like what he was doing as president. Carmichael provides a perfect example of logos in his
speech, For example, I am black. I know that. I also know that while I am black I am a human being,
and therefore I have the right to go into any public place. White people didn t know that. Every time I
tried to go into a place they stopped me. So

Uaa s Stalking The Bogeyman
UAA s production of Stalking the Bogeyman created an uneasy atmosphere that placed the audience
in the mind of the main character for eighty minutes. The small cast made spectacular use of the space
around the audience, lighting, costume and set designs, as well as unique vocal choices that gave
definition and life to their characters. I would also like to commend the cast for braving what was an
emotionally difficult production.
The opening scenes of Stalking the Bogeyman gave the audience a great opportunity to learn a little
bit about each of the characters. While the parents were a little more bland because they weren t the
story s focus, David and the Bogeyman both have very well defined characteristics. I was taken aback
by the actor s ability to transform his whole body, voice included, into a seven year old boy s. The
enthusiastic pitch in his voice and the rising and falling in energy it carried was unique to a seven year
old, and was portrayed very well. David s transformation throughout the rest of the performance took
the audience through his several stages of his trauma and his aging body. By the end of the

taking David downstairs showed the audience a terrifying side of the Bogeyman, he was loud,
intimidating, mean, and insulting. The downward spiral brought the audience and David into the

The Unjust Trade And Enslavement Of Human Beings
The unjustified trade and enslavement of human beings is known as human trafficking. Traffic victims
are most times compelled to sell their freedom, and are subject to coercive subjugation. Human
trafficking occurs throughout the United States and globally. Trafficking of person is driven by high
profits and low risk, as traffickers generate billions of dollars yearly, and a low chance of the activities
of traffickers been discovered by appropriate authorities. Trafficking of humans ultimately has grave
consequences on it victims. Human Trafficking is described as the recruitment, transportation, and
transfer of persons for exploitation purposes. This is usually carried out by the means of threat or use
of force and other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud, deception and abuse of persons in a vulnerable
position. Rarely, the giving and receiving of payments or benefits are given to persons to be exploited
in order to achieve their consent. In the United States, the attempts to commit, participate as an
accomplice, organize or direct others to commit trafficking is considered a criminal offence which
could earn a human trafficker between three years to life in prison based on individual state laws.
According to S.Bhat C. Joseph (2013), trafficking in humans can occur in various ways: Human
trafficking occurs in the form of sex trafficking, where women and children are reduced to sexual

Piety And Wisdom In Plato s Five Dialogues By Socrates
Wisdom is a loosely constructed and defined term distinct from person to person; however in the
Athenian period, citizens believed the wise should have a sense of utmost piety and maintain a higher
connection with the gods. In Plato s Five Dialogues, Socrates, an elderly man living in the city of
Athens, questions these religious ideas to further his understanding of religion and how thousands of
people are able to connect with unidentified and personified spirits. Socrates prolongs his skepticism
as he explores the idea of piety and encounters a number of religious experts who end up displaying
more hypocrisy and falsehood than wisdom and maturity. Since questioning or denying the belief of
the gods was a crime during the time of Athens, Socrates was put on trial for the accumulative
accusations that his teachings and questionings corrupted the young and hindered society. In trial,
Socrates explicitly separates himself from devious rhetoric and instead utilizes his observations of the
immoral and narcissistic flaws of the Athenian people to defend his goodwill and appreciation for
identifying the unknown.
As Socrates approaches the court during his trial, it becomes evident that he is fighting more than just
one accusation; Socrates is defending himself against the countless, unresearched accusations that
have been made years before, developing the audience s bias and premature decision of Socrates fate.
Therefore, Socrates believes he has a right to state these

For more than sixty years the United States dollar has been the central reserve currency for the world.
A reserve currency, also referred to as an anchor currency, is a currency that is held in significant
quantities by governments and institutions as part of their foreign exchange reserves (Carbaugh,
2011). As the world s reserve currency, the U.S. dollar is used throughout the world as a medium of
exchange and is used as the global currency for products traded within the global market. In recent

All of these actions by the U.S. Government have greatly increased its reliance on foreign investors to
fund both large budget and trade deficits.
Increased trade deficits can be concerning, but it is the United State s large budget deficits that are
concerning the worldwide leaders. The trade deficit is a reflection of the United States rapid growth
compared to other countries along with the continued injection of foreign funds into the U.S. due to
the dollar being the reserve currency (Carbaugh, 2011). A portion of the trade deficit is a result of a
capital surplus and not a reflection of an imbalance in the U.S. economy. In other words, the budget
deficit is due to a structural imbalance as the U.S. is spending beyond their means.
Due to the $14 trillion deficit, the United States has had to print more dollars to support their financial
responsibilities. Foreign countries and investors have concerns that the U.S. will be confronted with
financial difficulties in the future which will result in the depreciation of the dollar and also increased
inflation. If this were to occur, foreign nations who have invested in millions of U.S. dollars would
lose considerable amounts of their investments. These concerns have caused foreign investors to lose
confidence in

The Police Force At The Baltimore Police Station
The Baltimore police force is provided with more resources than a small town police force. The Wire
showed how good the resources were at the Baltimore police station. The movie showed how the
media turned the murder case into a drug case. When the media got involved the police chief made a
new drug task force to fix the problem. This drug task force was made of people in different
departments of the Baltimore police. It shows how the Baltimore police force can spare people for a
new program. When this drug force started to get information about the suspect the head chief funded
the program. With the funds, the drug force got more cars, vans, and listening devices to help them get
the suspects faster. When the drug force got enough information for a bust, the police force spared
manpower and vehicles so they can get the suspect.
Across America, there are a lot of small towns that make up this country. Within small townships there
are police forces that only have five to ten officers that patrol acres of woods or farm land. On a daily
basis these officers deal with minor crime like drugs, aggravated assault, burglary, and property
crimes. If a crime happens it can take about twenty minutes for the township police to get there or it
can at the state police up to an hour to get to the scene of the crime. In a big city like Baltimore police
force take about three to five minutes to get to the scene of a crime. The township police force might

The Power Of Love In A Midsummer s Night Dream
Love is a powerful emotion, capable of turning the most rational people into crazed, irrational lovers.
In A Midsummer s Night Dream, Shakespeare centralizes his comedy around the theme of human love
as a powerful, transformative force. Through the use of a magical love potion, the characters within
the play are blinded by fierce passion and their sight is narrowed to see only what the lover selectively
chooses to see. As a result of the power of love, the sensible become irrational and emotions that stem
from love, such as jealousy and desperation, give birth to hysterical chaos. In A Midsummer s Night
Dream, Shakespeare presents love as an uncontrollable, indiscriminate, and transformative force that

Lean Supply Chain Is A Catalyst For Enhancing Product...
In a constantly evolving market, companies must maintain the mindset of continuous improvement
and they must focus on speed, efficiency and customer value to be competitive (Cudney Elrod, 2011).
Applying lean concepts goes beyond having a better product than competitors; it s the supply chains
ability to create end to end value for the organization and customer. Therefore, for the supply chain to
provide organizational success collaboration with all users is critical because effective communication

Lean Tools and Techniques
Why Focus on Lean Supply Chain The purpose of supply chain management is to manage the flow of
goods and services from the procurement of raw material to the point of consumption. Furthermore, it
deals with the storing of material, production, and distribution of a product that will maximize
customer value and give a company a competitive advantage of the competition. Applying lean gives a
company the ability to focus on constraints in the system that inhibit efficient product flow, eliminate
waste and improve productivity and quality. For this to be successful its imperative companies seek to
include suppliers, distributors and logistics into the process because lean requires integration,
coordination and collaboration across the organization and throughout the supply chain (Agus
Hajinoor, 2012). As a result of increased transparency, companies will be more focused on
performance and this will create a collective effort to reduce cost by eliminating waste and increasing
productivity. Beyond the efforts to eliminate waste lean looks to incorporate customer value from the
customers perspective. Simply, everything that is being done that ensures customer satisfaction is a
value added step and any activity that fails to achieve customer satisfaction, which is something their
willing to pay for, is a non value added step and should be eliminated from the process. By simply
knowing the process and eliminating

within Poland, the Law and Justice Party, also raised moral questions among other EU member states
by establishing new government appointed leaders to the public television and broadcasting agencies.
This new change in judicial processes and media control has led many members of the European
Union to question both the democracy and corruption within the Polish government and to determine
if the new policies have infringed on the EU s values and morals. Therefore, these recent political
fluctuations have lead me to ask what powers does the EU have to influence a member countries

the EU attempt to sanction Poland for their alterations? This research paper will elaborate on Poland s
recent political changes. It will then analyze how Poland s changes have raised controversy with the

  • 2. Why Did Ophelia Commit Suicide Although Ophelia was a minor character in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, almost everything that happened in the play directly affected her. She was forced to stop seeing her boyfriend by her father, her boyfriend went mad for her love and eventually her father was murdered by her boyfriend. All of these things really took a toll young Ophelia and caused her to go mad. There are many differing arguments from scholars as to why Ophelia decided to commit suicide. Many think it solely had to do with the death of her father while others believe it was a result of her breakup with Hamlet. After researching this topic and reading many different opinions, I believe everything that happened to Ophelia during the play messed with her emotions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this scene Hamlet tells her I did love you once.... You should not have believed me.... I loved you not. She must wonder whether her father and brother were not right after all (Camden, On Ophelia s Madness ). Ophelia s brother and father tell her that Hamlet s love is just a phase and having Hamlet say this to her must be very confusing for her. She has been believing that Hamlet loves her which is why he has gone mad, but now he is telling her he never loved her and is being very insulting to her. Ophelia doesn t know what to believe and no one is helping her either. There are just a lot of mixed signals and miss information she is being given which would cause anyone to go crazy because they don t know what to believe or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Quake After The Earthquake the quake. I want my children to have a better life, he said. Mine is over. (Petrou). Augustin was living in his car with his children and had no idea what to do. So where did Haiti plan to start it s redevelopment? After the travesty millions of people reached out to donate money to help the relief fund. These are the countries that just two days after the earthquake pledged to donate, some with money and some with services. Brazil: Aircraft delivering water and food, medicine, equipment, and a Search and rescue team with sniffer dogs, Israel: Two plane loads of aid and rescue staff of 240, including 40 doctors and nurses to set up a field hospital capable of serving 500 people a day. Switzerland: A rescue team to arrive overland from the Dominican Republic. India: $1 million in support, Venezuela: doctors, firefighters, and rescue workers are en route, Sweden: $850,000, tents, water purification equipment, medical aid, and a team to rebuild the U.N. s demolished headquarters and Cuba: 30 Cuban doctors have already arrived (Maltbie). • 5. Marriage and Divorce in Hard Times Marriage and Divorce in Dickens Hard Times: A Statement on the Religious Morals of 19th Century British Society The Victorian era in England gave birth to the first real industrial society the world had ever seen. With the rise of industry came large cities, an expanded working class population and the rapid rise of imperialism. Although England was progressing towards a more powerful place in the world, its citizens seemed to be drifting in the opposite direction. Oppressive laws and working conditions set clear boundaries between classes in England. The most oppressive social and state laws were those regarding to marriages and divorces. Just as the people of England felt trapped in the unequal social structure of England, the same is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Judge William Blackstone had announced that husbands could administer moderate correction to disobedient wives, and there were other means: as late as 1895, Edith Lanchester s father had her kidnapped and committed to a lunatic asylum for cohabiting with a man (Wojtczak, English Women s History ). Although religion is not explicitly mentioned in Hard Times, religious values were involved in the social structure of England. Social and government laws were based on religious morals. For example, The Bible specifically states, Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband (King James Version, 1. Corinthians. 7.3). The Bible notes that the husband should treat his wife with benevolence. When one thinks of marriage, they think of love and emotions. This certainly does not seem to be the case in Mr. and Mrs. Gradgrind s marriage. A perfect example of this is when Mrs. Gradgrind quotes on her deathbed, You must remember my dear, that whenever I have said anything, on any subject, I have never heard the last of it; and consequently, that I have long left off saying anything (Dickens 151). To expand this further, The Bible also notes that, Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh (Genesis, 2.24). • 6. Eveline Research Paper Did Eveline Make The Right Choice? The tale of Eveline is a very interesting story. Written by James Joyce in 1914, Eveline was part of a collection of works entitled Dubliners. The story takes place in Dublin, Ireland around the time of World War I. It is a narrative about a woman named Eveline who has a very important decision to make. Eveline has met a sailor named Frank who is from Argentina and is visiting Dublin on vacation. As the story proceeds, Eveline begins to develop feelings towards him and Frank asks her to accompany him back to Argentina. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, Eveline s mother passed away. Eveline then goes on to recall a time where she was laid up for a day, and read a ghost story and made a toast for her. One might argue that Eveline s conscience is beginning to take over her decision making. Eveline states, in her home anyway she had shelter and food; she had those whom she had known all her life about her (par.5). As Eveline is about to leave she begins to question the decision one last time. However, Eveline states, Frank would save her. He would give her life, perhaps love, too, and it seems as if Eveline is now questioning the life that Frank might provide her. by stating perhaps love, too (par. 18). After taking into account the fact that she is unhappy in Dublin, Eveline is waiting at the station for Frank. At this moment, Eveline is still unsure of exactly what she wants to do.If she went, tomorrow she would be on the sea with Frank, steaming towards Buenos Ayres. The Iceni were a tribe of Britons and their territory was in the east of England. No one really knew what Boudicca looked like but Cassius Dio, a Roman historian, said that She was huge and frightening to look at with a mass of ginger hair that hung to her knees. Her voice was as harsh as her looks she dressed in a multi coloured tunic with a thick cloak fastened by a brooch flung over it, and wore a heavy gold necklace. She shook a spear to terrify all who watched her (Boudicca Against Rome by Ian Andrews p.23). Since 58 AD a rebellion was always looking likely because Catus ... When Suetonius, the new governor of Britain, was attacking Mona, Boudicca thought it was a perfect opportunity to start the rebellion because Suetonius was out of the way. In 61 AD the rebellion started at Camulodunum (Colchester). This rebellion consisted of mainly attacking Roman settlements and attacking Britons who were pro Roman. Also for no obvious reason, the statue of Victory at Camulodunum fell with its back turned as if it was in retreat from the enemy (The Romans Discover Britain 9.27). This war gave the Britons hope and fear to the veterans. • 8. Analysis Of John Updike s Araby John Updike s penchant for appropriating great works of literature and giving them contemporary restatement in his own fiction is abundantly documented as is the fact that, among his favorite sources, James Joyce looms large.[1] With special affinity for Dubliners, Updike has, by common acknowledgment, written at least one short story that strongly resembles the acclaimed Araby, not only in plot and theme, but in incidental detail. That story, the 1960 You ll Never Know, Dear, How Much I Love You like Araby tells the tale of a poor, romantically infatuated young boy who, though obstructed by parental slowness, journeys with innocent urgency, coins in hand, to a seemingly magical carnival only to find there, behind its facades, ... At 19, Updike s protagonist, Sammy, is a good bit older than Joyce s at the opposite end of adolescence, it would seem. While in Joyce s boy we readily believe such confusion between the gallant and profane, I think we needn t assume that Sammy is likewise unable to distinguish between the two quite normal impulses. His attraction to the girl in the aisle is certainly far more anatomically and less ambiguously expressed than that of Joyce s boy to Mangan s sister. But it is Beauty that confounds the issue. When human aesthetics come into play, when the object of a young man s carnal desire also gratifies him aesthetically, that is when the confusion arises. in Irish Catholic Dublin of the 1890s,[3] such youthful beauty not surprisingly invokes analogies between Mangan s sister and the Queen of Heaven (though the swinging of her body and the soft rope of her hair toss[ing] from side to side [Joyce 30]), which captivate the boy, hint at something less spiritual than Madonna worship). And while beauty s benchmarks in Sammy s more secular mid century America are more anatomical than spiritual, Updike does have Sammy call his young femme fatal Queenie, and he does make her the center of a trinity of sorts, showing her two friends at one point huddl[ing] against her for relief ( A P 189). Since the United States has the highest number of deaths, it is important to have gun control laws that restrict people from owning dangerous firearms like machine guns. Gun control laws should support both sides of the debate. Of course, both sides will not be completely happy with the laws created, but America should have a balance. In 2008, a poll was taken stating: Adult poll respondents views on the meaning of the Second Amendment; An individual s right to bear arms: Republican 51% and Democrats 41% (The History of the Right to Bear Arms). Today, the United States is more divided on gun control than it has ever been. The Second Amendment states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (Milestones in Federal Gun Control Legislation). Unless the Second Amendment is changed, we cannot take the right from others to own guns. • 10. Reflection On Francisco De Quevedo Christopher Johnson s visit for our class on Francisco de Quevedo was a significant addition to our ongoing discussion regarding the Baroque, as he was not only able to provide insights into our critical reading of Quevedo s work as a scholar of the Baroque and translator of his poetry but also posed questions and concerns that will undoubtedly continue to guide our thinking as we move from the Baroque to the Neo Baroque. Starting from the premise of the Baroque as an aesthetic that demands some kind of meta disciplinary work, I was particularly interested in Johnson s emphasis on the idea of polarity. Although we had previously discussed the presence of a polarity of sorts in some of the texts we have read, Johnson s attention to the term, emerging from Spitzer s essay, has prompted my thinking towards not just the presence, but the development of this concept throughout. In Luis de Góngora s Soledades, we see violent contrasts of the ascendant and the degrading vision. Sor Juana s Primero sueño takes us on a voyage of the soul that escapes the body, and on a voyage of the internal universe of the body that seems to facilitate the escaping of the soul. Quevedo s poetry showcases both a skillfully mastery of the poetic structures and elements, yet conjugates this with often time very un poetic topoi that emphasizes the scatological. I am eager to see how these polarities manifest themselves in the neo baroque writings of Lezama Lima and Severo Sarduy, for example, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creating an information management system will advance their business protocols and provide a cohesiveness between inventory control, wait staff monitoring, and data security. Adding an additional focus on WiFi availability is an advantage to Club IT and their customers. Inventory control is a primary concern to prevent overstock and out of stock dilemmas. Overstocking products effects the budget negatively. Out of stock products essentially effects revenue negatively and hinders customer satisfactions. Alice argues for using SSL and Tina argues for using IPsec. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are used to allow a remote public connection to an internal network. A VPN is essentially a virtual tunnel connecting a remote user (Tunnel Vision). The traffic within the VPN tunnel is encrypted, and there are two ways to do this. One way is Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) and the other is Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Alice is arguing in the favor of SSL. Some reasons she might argue that SSL is a common protocol and most web browsers have SSL capabilities already built in (Tony, 2003). Because of this, almost every computer in the world is already equipped with the necessary software to connect to an SSL VPN. • 25. Paradox And Personification In The Hollow Man Paradox and personification are two literary devices often used in literature. These literary devices help poets convey certain meaning through their writing. This essay analyses the poems The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot and Death Be Not Proud by John Donne. These two poems were chosen because of their use of literary devices and the manner in which they were able to communicate a deeper meaning. The essay analyses the poems by examining their use of paradox and personification as well how the devices impact the poem. T.S. Elliot and John Donne use paradox and personification in their poems. A paradox is a statement that seems to be false but upon further examination proves to be true. Personification is the action giving a nonhuman object or idea human characteristics. The use of a paradox in the poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot helps convey the mood of the poem by communicating to the reader a more profound meaning. The use of literary device in Death Be Not Proud by John Donne also helps express the mood of the poem. It does so through the use of a literary personification. In poetry, paradox and personification can be used to convey the mood of a poem. The poem The Hollow Men by T.S. Elliot uses paradox to convey the mood of the poem. The poem The Hollow Men is about men who are standing in a field, describing what the afterlife is like. This state of senselessness that the men are in creates a dull mood. It creates a mood of emotional void. This mood is conveyed through paradox. In the poem, T.S. Elliot writes shape without form (line 11). This is used to describe the hollow men and creates a paradox because having a shape means you have a form, one cannot exist without the other. This is unless, it is thought of from a different point of view. In art a shape is two dimensional while form is three dimensional. When T.S. Elliot writes shape without form (line 11) it is not referring to the physical appearance of the men but rather their lack of depth. It is referring to the men s flat personality. Similarly the line shade without color (line 11) is used to convey the mood of the poem. This line from the poem creates a paradox because a shade is a variation of a color, this means that a ... His speech, Black Power, addresses the issue of black racism in America and gives strategies for advancing black civil rights. His use of ethos, logos, and pathos is successful in getting the audience to engage and connect with his speech. With blacks already on his side, Carmichael chose to deliver his message to an audience filled with white, liberal college students to reach out to more broad demographics. The element of pathos was used in the very beginning of his speech to humor the young audience by referring to the Berkeley students as White intellectual ghettos of the West (1). He continues his humor by calling the news reporters advertisers who are ... caught up in the intellectual masturbation of the question of Black Power (1). The element of ethos is brought up in the beginning of the speech when Carmichael talks about condemning oneself. He references that the philosophers Camus and Sartre raise the question whether or not a man can condemn himself. The black existentialist philosopher who is pragmatic, Frantz Fanon, answered the question. He said that man could not (1). In order for a man to condemn himself, he would have to blame himself for his actions, sentencing himself to a punishment. Carmichael states multiple different incidents in American history and America s present where a man could not condemn himself, but the most powerful is when he describes how the white America could not. He says this because he believes that the institutions in this country are clearly built upon racism (1). People in the audience would be more open to agree with this opinion because he made it clear in the beginning of the speech that he is knowledgeable and credible. He also addresses Lyndon B Johnson a few times in his speech because he did not like what he was doing as president. Carmichael provides a perfect example of logos in his speech, For example, I am black. I know that. I also know that while I am black I am a human being, and therefore I have the right to go into any public place. White people didn t know that. Every time I tried to go into a place they stopped me. • 27. Uaa s Stalking The Bogeyman UAA s production of Stalking the Bogeyman created an uneasy atmosphere that placed the audience in the mind of the main character for eighty minutes. The small cast made spectacular use of the space around the audience, lighting, costume and set designs, as well as unique vocal choices that gave definition and life to their characters. I would also like to commend the cast for braving what was an emotionally difficult production. The opening scenes of Stalking the Bogeyman gave the audience a great opportunity to learn a little bit about each of the characters. While the parents were a little more bland because they weren t the story s focus, David and the Bogeyman both have very well defined characteristics. I was taken aback by the actor s ability to transform his whole body, voice included, into a seven year old boy s. The enthusiastic pitch in his voice and the rising and falling in energy it carried was unique to a seven year old, and was portrayed very well. David s transformation throughout the rest of the performance took the audience through his several stages of his trauma and his aging body. • 29. Piety And Wisdom In Plato s Five Dialogues By Socrates Wisdom is a loosely constructed and defined term distinct from person to person; however in the Athenian period, citizens believed the wise should have a sense of utmost piety and maintain a higher connection with the gods. In Plato s Five Dialogues, Socrates, an elderly man living in the city of Athens, questions these religious ideas to further his understanding of religion and how thousands of people are able to connect with unidentified and personified spirits. Socrates prolongs his skepticism as he explores the idea of piety and encounters a number of religious experts who end up displaying more hypocrisy and falsehood than wisdom and maturity. Since questioning or denying the belief of the gods was a crime during the time of Athens, Socrates was put on trial for the accumulative accusations that his teachings and questionings corrupted the young and hindered society. In trial, Socrates explicitly separates himself from devious rhetoric and instead utilizes his observations of the immoral and narcissistic flaws of the Athenian people to defend his goodwill and appreciation for identifying the unknown. As Socrates approaches the court during his trial, it becomes evident that he is fighting more than just one accusation; Socrates is defending himself against the countless, unresearched accusations that have been made years before, developing the audience s bias and premature decision of Socrates fate. Therefore, Socrates believes he has a right to state these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A reserve currency, also referred to as an anchor currency, is a currency that is held in significant quantities by governments and institutions as part of their foreign exchange reserves (Carbaugh, 2011). As the world s reserve currency, the U.S. dollar is used throughout the world as a medium of exchange and is used as the global currency for products traded within the global market. All of these actions by the U.S. Government have greatly increased its reliance on foreign investors to fund both large budget and trade deficits. Increased trade deficits can be concerning, but it is the United State s large budget deficits that are concerning the worldwide leaders. The trade deficit is a reflection of the United States rapid growth compared to other countries along with the continued injection of foreign funds into the U.S. due to the dollar being the reserve currency (Carbaugh, 2011). A portion of the trade deficit is a result of a capital surplus and not a reflection of an imbalance in the U.S. economy. In other words, the budget deficit is due to a structural imbalance as the U.S. is spending beyond their means. Due to the $14 trillion deficit, the United States has had to print more dollars to support their financial responsibilities. Foreign countries and investors have concerns that the U.S. will be confronted with financial difficulties in the future which will result in the depreciation of the dollar and also increased inflation. If this were to occur, foreign nations who have invested in millions of U.S. dollars would lose considerable amounts of their investments. • 32. The Police Force At The Baltimore Police Station The Baltimore police force is provided with more resources than a small town police force. The Wire showed how good the resources were at the Baltimore police station. The movie showed how the media turned the murder case into a drug case. When the media got involved the police chief made a new drug task force to fix the problem. This drug task force was made of people in different departments of the Baltimore police. It shows how the Baltimore police force can spare people for a new program. When this drug force started to get information about the suspect the head chief funded the program. With the funds, the drug force got more cars, vans, and listening devices to help them get the suspects faster. When the drug force got enough information for a bust, the police force spared manpower and vehicles so they can get the suspect. In a constantly evolving market, companies must maintain the mindset of continuous improvement and they must focus on speed, efficiency and customer value to be competitive (Cudney Elrod, 2011). Lean Tools and Techniques Why Focus on Lean Supply Chain The purpose of supply chain management is to manage the flow of goods and services from the procurement of raw material to the point of consumption. Furthermore, it deals with the storing of material, production, and distribution of a product that will maximize customer value and give a company a competitive advantage of the competition. Applying lean gives a company the ability to focus on constraints in the system that inhibit efficient product flow, eliminate waste and improve productivity and quality. For this to be successful its imperative companies seek to include suppliers, distributors and logistics into the process because lean requires integration, coordination and collaboration across the organization and throughout the supply chain (Agus Hajinoor, 2012). As a result of increased transparency, companies will be more focused on performance and this will create a collective effort to reduce cost by eliminating waste and increasing productivity. Beyond the efforts to eliminate waste lean looks to incorporate customer value from the customers perspective.
