Lancelot Vs Theseus Research Paper
Nowadays we hear tales of heroes from all different cultures from all around the world, but when
looked at in detail, these stories aren t as distinctive as they may appear. Stories like that of Lancelot
or Theseus have much more in common than one may think. The first way these heroes bear
resemblance is in their chaotic families. They also had very similar childhoods, where they both
showed their superb talents. And when they finally embarked on a quest, they both had similar
outcomes. They even met and desert their love interests while on these quests. Even though these
stories have unique origins from different cultures, they still remain very much the same.
The unique family life of these heroes have a lot in common. Both Lancelot and ... Show more content

The quests that they embarked on were very similar and had similar outcomes. Both the heroes went
on quests to save people from an oppressive monster. Lancelot saved the people of Corbenic from a
dragon which was attacking their kingdom, and Theseus saved the people of Athens from the
Minotaur who needed to be fed with Athenian sacrifices. To solve these problems, they each used their
talents, swordsmanship and wrestling. Lancelot used his superior talents with his shield and sword. He
was said to use his shield to dodge the flames of the dragon, from which the town s people ran from,
and confidently sung blow with his sword till he defeated the dragon. On the contrary, Theseus won
by using his impressive wrestling skills. He grabbed the Minotaur by its horns, and threw it to the
ground, before he beat it to death with his fists. Moreover, they both were very successful in their
endeavor. Lancelot defeated the dragon with seeming ease, and the people of Corbenic celebrated him
because of it. Theseus also defeated the Minotaur with ease, and the Athenians celebrated him for it.
The difference between the heroes is how they were celebrated. Lancelot had a feast was held in his
honour. The feast lead to another line of story surrounding a highly sought after item presented to him,
the Holy Grail. Theseus, alternatively, was celebrated by the fellow captives, and eventually

The Education For All Handicapped Children Act
Public Law 94 142
The Education for All Handicapped Children Act, also know as Public Law 94 142, was signed into
law by President Gerald Ford on November 29, 1975. IT took effect in 1997, and was deigned to

A standout amongst the most politically charged tunes on this collection is additionally titled The
Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. In this tune, Lauryn Hill discusses how individuals are not taught or
liberal about what is happening in the public eye today, regardless of whether it be in the legal system,
religious convictions, or instruction structure. She talked about her dedication to God and she
additionally dove into self aspiration, however she passed on a more profound all inclusive
significance in her lyric.

Essay on Understanding Work Duties in Business Management
There are many different fields in the business world. Business Management is the largest field in the
corporate world. It takes responsibility, skill and determination to form a successful business of any
type. There are numerous areas within a business that need the skills of management. Control of
expenses, payroll, time management, and to initially raise capital to start a business all are areas in
which management has to play an important role. Any businesses main objective is to gain a profit. A
profit is the amount of money a business earns after all of it debts are paid. The field of management is

One type of cost is called fixed cost. This type of cost is the expense of a business that does not
change and are always constant in a business. When money is made, debts are the first initiative to be
paid off. Fixed costs include rent, wages to employees, and equipment needed to produce you good
and or service. In for example a Flower shop, the fixed costs would be the rent on the building, the
payment of the delivery vans, and employee salaries. The other type of costs is called variable cost.
This type of cost is one that is ever changing. Again in a Flower shop the variable costs would be a
dozen roses. One week a dozen roses may cost the flower shop five dollars to buy them and then they
sell them for forty five dollars. Then the next week the price of the roses my rise by five dollars now
costing the flower shop ten so in order for the florist to make the same amount of money as last week
he needs to increase his price to the consumer with the increase on price he is paying. The basic main
idea of cost is to keep it as low as possible to gain the highest profits. Determining the profit of a
business is another major part of management. Profit is the total income that you receive after paying
all of your debts. All debts include for example rent, wages, and interest. A general formula to
calculate profit is P = R C. This says when total revenue is subtracted from

Change In Government And Politics In Japan, 1931-1941
Throughout the years of 1931 1941, Japan was politically unstable due to divisions among politicians
and those in the military. Due to those divisions, the government had changed multiple times as a
result of power struggles within the different government factions, and actions of the military. Change
in government were a way for Japan to survive through these times with different leaders, albeit the
military had most control over the political situation in Japan. Just as a bicycle would be used for
survival, Japan was trying to survive through different government factions to lead the country. There
were two leading factions within Japan between 1931 and 1941; the Koda ha and the Tosei ha, both
being imperialist and expansionist, with Koda ha the more radical group. The Koda ha believed the
best way for Japan to survive and thrive was through dictatorship, ...Koda ha was generally the more

conspirators were killed, and the Koda ha faction was discredited. Through these power struggles of

to align the country to their ideologies; they had both fought for power because they believed that their

Computer Programming And Software Design Essay
INTRODUCTION
An important, underrated and often overlooked tool for Computer Supported Collaborative Work,
henceforth abbreviated CSCW, is the revision control system or version control system, henceforth
abbreviated as RCS, or VCS, respectively. There are a plethora of RCS and VCS available from which
to choose. Within the field of computer programming and software design, the use of RCS or VCS is a
vital best practice, especially in development environments with many programmers, developers,
engineers, administrators, and managers. However, RCS or VCS can and should be used wherever
there are larger groups of CSCW regardless of the domain. Henceforth, RCS and VCS shall be
referred to as any generic revision or version control system, abbreviated as RVCS. The significance
of evaluating various RVCS becomes apparent by demonstrating and illustrating their importance.
Such evaluation is then used to produce or derive guidelines that streamline the selection of the RVCS
for a particular CSCW group.
WHAT EXACTLY IS RVCS?
One way to begin operationally defining RVCS is with the simple concept of artifacts and deliverables
produced, created, developed or engineered by the CSCW group. The sharing of such artifacts is
essential in the operations of the CSCW group (Schmidt, et. al., 2015). Typically, such modern day
artifacts or deliverables consist of documents, spreadsheets, diagrams, charts, tables, graphs, reports,
presentations, and other multimedia. In the domain of computer

Hannah Arendt s The Human Condition
The Human Condition
Hannah Arendt s book, The Human Condition, examines the vita activa and it s relation to three
fundamental human activities: labor, work and action. Arendt holds that these three activities
correspond to one of the basic conditions under which life on earth has been given to man and make
up politics (7). Throughout the book Arendt ultimately makes the point that our main political job is to
discover other people s opinions about political life and to then go forward and examine these
opinions together. Differing viewpoints and opinions are inevitable and through politics we examine
these opinions and should be able to find agreements within the discrepancies. In Arendt s opinion

Labor and work can be easily distinguished between by the products length of stay in the world. These
things are unnatural, or artificial. Products, such as houses, desks and phones are examples of things
constructed through work. The activity of work provides for a stable world and serves the purpose of
creating durability. Unlike labor, works sole relation to providing viable living conditions results in the
view of every thing and every person as a means to make the object. Through the activity of work, the
end justifies the means. This results in people being treated as a means to an end instead of a unique
person. In the world of work, one person is in charge and violence is acceptable. Arendt justifies the
use of violence, particularly in relation to nature, by saying the end justifies the violence done to
nature to win the material, as the wood justifies killing the tree and the table justifies destroying the
wood . Because products of work are so durable and have a long lifespan, they provide continuity with
the past. Although work does not directly connect to the human condition of life, it does provide some
rewards. Work provides pride and a sense of accomplishment. According to Arendt, work can provide
self assurance and satisfaction, and can even become a source of self confidence throughout life (140).
People are able to master nature and therefore master oneself. The highest reward of work however is
the work of art. While it is

Wayne Simmonds
Wayne Simmonds was Mr. Clutch for the Philadelphia Flyers over the final few weeks of the NHL
regular season. The man dubbed Wayne Train kept Philadelphia on the playoff track.
The 27 year old Simmonds put an exclamation point on his heroics Saturday with the game tying and
winning goals in Philadelphia s 3 1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Wells Fargo Center. The two
points was exactly what the Flyers needed to clinch the Eastern Conference s eighth and final playoff
spot.
Simmonds tapped in a perfect pass from Jakub Voracek late in the first period to tie the game at one,
then deflected a shot by Shayne Gostisbehere into the upper part of the net late in the second period to
give the Flyers the lead.

The Flyers led by two goals and were on a power play with less than two minutes left in regulation
when Simmonds tried to score on an empty net from deep in his own end. Icing was called and the
Blue Jackets pulled within 2 1 on the subsequent faceoff. Columbus tied the game with 8.9 seconds
remaining in regulation, then went on to win the contest in a shootout.
It hurt, Simmonds told Philly.com Saturday. It hurt a lot. It hurt me a lot. It hurt the guys. That was an
opportunity where we could have had two points and not possibly leave it to the last game. So I
needed to go out there and play my heart out for the rest of the season.
Simmonds turned the aforementioned blunder into motivation by recording seven goals and three
assists over his last nine games of the season He did not play in Sunday s regular season finale against
the New York Islanders. His best statistical game during the stretch was on April 2 against the Ottawa
Senators when he notched two goals and an assist.
Simmonds reached the 30 goal mark for the first time in his career on April 7 against the NHL worst

salvage a key point for the Flyers. In 81 games this season, Simmonds had a team leading 32 goals

the importance of this community and the importance of the members of this community.
A discourse community has a broadly agreed set of common public goals , says John Swales (220).
Throughout my research and studies of this discourse community, I have noticed that all members do
have goals and obligations to this call center. Everyone is aware of these goals and are aware that they
are expected to honor them. I ve noticed that mainly we have a set goal to satisfy each and every
customer. Although this goal seems simple, It s the exact opposite. This is not an easy thing to do. I ve

Persuasive Essay On Equal Rights
Equal rights are guaranteed to all citizens no matter what race, sex, marital status and/or economic
status. Why should that change because of someone s sexual orientation? I believe most of what our
amendments say American citizens should do are not half way near what citizens actually do. U.S
News, Senator Jeff Merkley stated in 2015 that According to the Human Rights Campaign, which
advocates for greater LGBT rights, 31 states do not have laws that explicitly prohibit discrimination
based on sexual orientation or gender identity. I think that is wrong, we are not living in the 1940s we
should not be still arguing about whether we should not give equal rights to women or LGBT. We are
fighting about towards the LGBT community has equal rights/opportunities and women having equal
rights in 2017, you would think we are still in the 1720s. Recently Trump has said that transgender
people will not be able to have military jobs. In the New York Times website Matthew F. Thorn,
executive director of OutServe, said in an interview We have transgender individuals who serve in
elite SEAL teams, who are working in a time of war to defend our country, and now you re going to
kick them out? . I agree with his anger and his confusion because during Trump s election he made it
very clear that he would make the LGBT community feel at peace. Now he is just contradicting what
he previously protrude to do. When Trump was elected less than 15% that voted for him were

The Negative Effects Of Corporal Punishment On Children
Among the various forms of children punishments, corporal punishment has been revealed to be an
ineffective form of correction due to the negative consequences associated with it. Corporal
punishment involves subjecting children to physical pain as a corrective measure to prevent them from
engaging in inappropriate behaviors. This is a type of power assertive method of discipline where
children are subjected to punishments without explanation or justification. They grow up in fear of the
consequences of corporal punishment rather than understanding the right from the wrong. The
consequences associated with physical punishment include both physical and emotional abuse that has
adverse effects on the growth and development of children. As a result of corporal punishments,
children are often left with disabilities or bad medical conditions in case of injuries during
punishment. The children are also abused emotionally through the vulgar language that is often used
by the parents during the administration of the punishments. This physical and emotional abuses that
children are subjected to makes them lead a disturbed life in future. The recommended approach of
discipline is therefore the inductive method where the children are guided with explanation and
justification in case of punishments in order to understand rather than fear the reason behind the
punishment. Physical punishment is determined to have adverse effects that impact negatively on the
self esteem of a child.

Debt Driven Economy
Not only is humanity continuously following a natural cycle on a grand time scale, but also smaller
aspects of everyday lives follow a similar pattern. This poem relates the the cyclical nature of single
human life to the cyclical nature of the economy. This poem demonstrates how the progression of life
follows a pattern and how a smaller aspect, the economy, also follows a patterns that can relate to each
other.
Life A Debt Driven Economy
As you get older, you come to understand the economics of age.
You go through a cycle you see.

This poem relates the cyclical nature of our economy to each individual life coming full circle.
Throughout history, the economy booms and times become prosperous, such as the Roaring 20 s.
However, the economy can go bust and ruin lives, such as the Great Depression, just as quickly. This
illustrates how the loop of the economy and a human s life are related. This also shows that the
balance in this universe cannot be broken or changed. This poem describes being young and having
energy, which would be considered the upward swing of your life and the times of a developing
economy. Then there is a state of prosperity where one reaches their prime, which would be being at
the top of the circular swing and when the economy is booming. And then begins the process of
having less energy, not being as prosperous, start of aging; all of which would be considered the
downward swing and the economy going bust. And ultimately, death is the lowest point of the swing.
This whole cycle then begins all again, but with another life this time. It is not surprising that if the
timeline of humanity, then certain aspects such as the economy also follow the circular pattern too.
This theme is a double edged sword. While it is comforting to know that rough times will not last
forever and humanity will pull itself up, it is also depressing to know nothing good in life will always
stay the same, it will eventually all burn down for it to be rebuilt

A free higher education would allow graduating students to start their lives , instead of being held
back by debt. On average, students who graduated in 2015 have a debt of about $35,051 person, and
these numbers are going to continue to rise unless something is done (Resnikoff). Most students that
just graduated from college do not start out at a high paying job, so it will take them years to pay off
their student loans. Interest rates on student loans are higher than on auto loans. It makes no sense that
millions of college graduates are forced to pay interest rates of five to seven percent or more for
decades (Sanders). This is counter productive to our country because students go to college so they
can make more money and live lives that many people without a college education cannot afford to
live. Students cannot begin their lives if they are held back by the burden of student loans. If elected
president Sanders will prevent the federal government from profiteering on the backs of college
students and use [ government] money instead to significantly lower student loan interest rates
(Sanders). The Sanders plan is beneficial to all young Americans who dream of going to college, but
cannot because of its cost. The lowering of loan prices would be one step closer to providing free
education to all Americans. The

The Causes And Impacts Of World War II
World War II was a worldwide war that happened from 1939 to 1945. It involved the majority of the
world s countries including which eventually formed the two opposing military alliances the Allies
and the Axis. It was the largest war in history, and involved more than 100 million people from over
30 countries. The major countries threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities
behind the war effort. World War II has had the most fatalities and injuries of any war in human
history, accumulating 50 million to 85 million fatalities, with most being civilians in the Soviet Union
and China. World War 2 had events such as the genocide of Jews orchestrated by Adolf Hitler and his
Nazi party, bombings, starvation, disease and the use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
which was the first use of nuclear weapons in history.
During the war the royal navy had noticed that aircraft carriers were becoming the ultimate ships for
naval warfare, and that the royal navy s former naval superiority in terms of their battleships had
become irrelevant. The royal navy had noticed that battleships could no longer fulfil their roles in a
cost effective manner. They were too big, too expensive to build and maintain, and their crews too
large. Due to this the royal navy was an early innovator in aircraft carrier design, introducing
armoured flight decks, in place of the battleships. This then meant that the royal navy focused more on
building aircraft carriers and

Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds:
Smallest bird on earth Hummingbirds are fascinating birds that are always fun to watch. These birds
are able to hover in mid air, dart from side to side, go straight up or down, or even backwards. They
can out fly and out maneuver birds hundreds of times their size. There are many factors that contribute
to the hummingbirds ability to fly so easily through the air. A hummingbird s wings are shaped so that
they are slightly rounded on the top. Their wings flaps 15 80 times per second, depending on the type
of species they are. The Giant Hummingbird s wings beat 8 10 beats per second, the wings of medium
size hummingbirds beat 20 25 beats per second and the smallest beat 70 beats per second. ... Show

The Venturi effect is evident when the hummingbird holds it s wings close to it s body. The rapid air
flow helps the bird maneuver quickly. Hummingbirds are durable only in life. In death they are
delicate, their wings are hollow and fragile, thus almost never fossilize. This was one of the reason
that the recent discovery of 30 million year old fossil bird that remains may include an ancestral
hummingbird. . Its fossil specimens had long, slender bills ,and shortened upper wings bones topped
by a knob. Surprisingly, fossils were found in the southern part of Germany which was far away from
the modern hummingbird territory. Hummingbird s aggression were shaped by sipping nectar as often
as every minutes. They compete by challenging and bullying each other in mid air; post up and
pirouette, dive to the grass, and paddle backward in dances of dominance that end suddenly as they
begin. They will compete each other up in tall mountains near the equator that offer rich ecosystem at
a variety of elevations. . Hummingbirds are very small birds with a high metabolism, with heart rates
can reach as high as 1,260 beats per minutes, therefore they must be fed constantly.

Abstract
The point of this investigation was to determine if there is a relationship between the two subtypes of
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson, Kiehl
and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s (2002)
Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology students.
Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative correlation between
primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation between secondary
psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is correlated with
cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship.
Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive
Empathy?
Many studies have been conducted to determine if there is a correlation between Cognitive Empathy
and the two subtypes of Psychopathy (e.g. Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010; Levenson, Kiehl,
Fitzpatrick, 1994; Baron Cohen, et al., 2002). Cognitive empathy is defined as the capability to
understand the emotions of another (Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010). Psychopathy is defined as an

Essay On Censorship In America
As Americans, we pride ourselves on having the ability to say what we want when we want to. This
was a right given to us by the First Amendment of the Constitution. The act of censorship creates a
barrier between media and freedom of speech. Due to the topic of censorship, many Americans have
different opinions on if censorship is a violation of their rights as a citizen of the United States or if it
is to preserve the wellbeing of the country. Before the internet became as powerful as it is today, the
government reviewed every article, news report, and television show before being released for public
viewing to prevent indecencies from occurring in the media. Consequently, as the media continues to
flourish, it creates difficulties in the government being able to track everything that is online.
Furthermore, the uprising of the internet creates more of a reason for censorship in the media,
especially due to the increased use of the internet by children. Americans should include censorship in
their everyday lives to a certain extent because of the violence in our country, to provide censorship
for children, and to provide positive images.

Devil Facial Tumour Disease Case Study
Introduction: What is Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease?
 Identified in 1996 the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD) is the growth of fatal
tumours on the faces of Tasmanian Devils (Sarcophilus harrisii), specifically the mouth and teeth.
(Hamede RK, McCallum H Jones M, 2013)
 Affecting the largest carnivorous marsupial alive (Beeton N McCallum H, 2011) the tumour cells
are transmitted through the biting of one Devil to another either in attack to access food first, or
predominantly as part of mating. (Grueber CE et al. 2015)
 Tasmanian Devils have little genetic diversity especially when it comes to a crucial
histocompatibility complex gene that is required for efficient immune system functioning in the
species. (Hamede ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetic Research on the Histocompatibility Complex and Telomeres
The DFTD tumour is accepted to be clonal, originating from a single Schwann cell that did not dye in
the Devil it first infected rather spreading through the species. (Grueber CE et.al 2015)
The Histocompatibility Complex genome is important for an organism to distinguish its own cells
from foreign cells, yet Tasmanian Devils have a variation in this gene resulting in the tumour cell
going unidentified by the body. (Siddle H et.al 2012)
Finding a way to restore the function of the Histocompatibility Complex genome so that it can activate
antibodies such as β2 microglobulin (β2 m) to kill the tumour should be an area focused on because it
can then be introduced into one infected Devil that can bite others and so the genome is passed on.
(Siddle H et.al 2012)
The DFTD tumour cells also have chromosomes that have been protected from misshaping by strong
Telomere and Shelterin compounds that should worn of long ago due to a lot of DNA replication.
(Grueber CE et al. 2015)
Targeting these Telomere/Shelterin compounds may be useful to suppress the tumour cells, killing it

Comparing God And Identity
God and Jesus are not the same in terms of identity. Jesus the Son and God the Father are the same
being. Even still, Jesus himself has His own identity. The Bible explains that God is three in one in
Matthew 28:18 20. He is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They each have
different personalities and identities, yet they still form one being. God the Father plays a role in
which He oversees or generates many different things. If God and Jesus were truly the same all
around, then the scripture John 3:16 would be in vain. God the Father and God the Son (Jesus) are
actually two different people, but of the same essence. Therefore, Jesus (the Son) did not pray to
Himself in the garden of Gethsemane. He prayed to God the Father

everyone thought that they were all actually equal except harrison and he escaped jail and stood up to

Increasing Price Discrimination In The Workplace
Individuals encounter price discriminations on an almost daily basis, whether realizing it or not.
Considering that many fast food chains off discounts to seniors, one could possibly pay the regular
price and not even think of the possibility of a discount. Price discrimination can be described as
identical services or goods being sold at different prices by one single provider (Sexton, 2013).
Therefore, each time a person shops at Goodwill, he or she has the opportunity of a reduced cost
providing stipulations are met such as being a student, senior, or military. In order to meet the
qualification of price discrimination, three points are provided. First, the organization must provide a
good or service that is not offered by other organizations, establishing a monopoly. Secondly, the
elasticities of demand have to be prevalent, and, and thirdly, stipulations have to be enforced in order
to prevent reselling of the product or service for a profit.
Considering the price differences encountered by parking garages, price discrimination can be
established by examining the price differences between long term parking and short term parking.
Parking garages often provide a menu of price differences for different frames of time, such as two
hours, four hours, eight hours, or even overnight (Lin Wang, 2015). ... Show more content on

Comparison Of The Taiping Rebellion And Indian Mutiny
The Taiping Rebellion and Indian Mutiny were both revolts caused by Britain s actions, motivated by
their wish to control international trade in stride towards their Imperialistic goals of globalizing their
trade network to maximize profit and control. As information was gathered on Southeast Asia, Britain
became increasingly interested by the potential value of native goods. With the additional help of
developing technology at the time, Britain was able to gain control via despotism. The imperialistic
rule was successful as encountered regions in Southeast Asia had always easily controlled by global
powers, until indigenous voices in India and China were finally heard in their fight to push back
against Britain s greedy actions. Britain had found it necessary to expand their reach in India and
China for various reasons, some of which being to spread Christianity, creating more ports for sailors,
and benefitting trade networks. However India and China found fewer benefits in Britain s motives
and their message was eventually heard as the indigenous fought Britain s globalization tactics that
were not mutually beneficial but could be found on the agenda of British Imperialism.
The Taiping Rebellion and The Indian Mutiny, sometimes referred to as the Sepoy Mutiny, were
sparked for different reasons but both took place after the British gained influence on their respective
territories. Beginning with the Taiping Rebellion, a revolt not against foreigners but meant to counter

Now that we have a basic understanding of management and leadership we can review a few different

ABSTRACT
Wireless communications is, by any measure, the fastest growing segment of the communications
industry. It has captured the attention of the media and the imagination of the public. However, the
fundamental phenomenon which makes transmission unreliable is time varying fading. The
phenomenon is described as the constructive/destructive interference between signals arriving at the
same antenna via different paths, and hence with different delays and phases, resulting in random
fluctuations of the signal level at the receiver. This paper investigates Rake receiver method of
combating fading.
The rake receiver uses a combination of correlators to separately detect M strongest multipath
components, code generators, and delays, or fingers , to spread out the individual echo signals of the
multipath. Each signal is then delayed according to peaks found in the received signal. The rake
receiver uses several sub receivers each delayed slightly in order to tune in to the individual multipath
components. Each component is decoded independently, but at a later stage combined using delay
compensate combiner and MRC dispreading in order to make the most use of the different
transmission characteristics of each

Machiavelli Plato Rebuplic Prince Comparison

Machiavelli (The Prince, ch.15, pp. 47 #8211; 49 and ch. 18, pp.54f). What is the most important

he signifies that #8220;then it seems a cowardly and slavish nature will take no part in the philosophy

But, not surprisingly, Machiavelli is against this imaginary ruler. Although it would be marvelous if a
ruler have all these good qualities, he believes that a ruler who has all of these good characteristics
cannot exist in practice [Selected Political Writings, The Prince ch. 15, p.48]. For him this image is

She thought that by smashing these bars to pieces, people would take notice, which is precisely what

St Augustine Confessions Analysis
In his Confessions, St. Augustine presented his life from his adolescence through his adulthood and
conversion to Christianity. One of the most prominent themes throughout his narrative was the
reaction of weeping in a situation of separation. Whether it was Monica grieving when her son left for
Rome or Augustine lamenting the distance between himself and God, these scenes of weeping proved
incredibly crucial to the presentation of his life story, acting as frames for specific points in his life.
Through his placement and description of four specific scenes of weeping, Augustine created a pattern
of mirrored events that marked the distinction between his life prior to and after his conversion. One
of the first pressing occasions of a separation was the instance of Monica weeping when she
discovered that Augustine had left Christianity behind to be a Manichee. He described that she wept
for [him] before [God] more than mothers weep when lamenting their dead children, as she was
overwhelmed with sorrow that her son was separating himself from God (Conf. 3.19). Even though
Augustine himself could not see that he was straying from salvation, Monica perceived the death
which held [him] and turned to God for guidance (Conf. 3.19). Through her prayers, she was granted a
dream from God in which a man asked her why she was downcast and daily in flood of tears (Conf.
3.19). She replied that she mourned Augustine s separation from God, to which the man told her to

The Theories of Bandura versus Erikson
How does an infant develop into an adult? The answer is not as obvious as it seems. There are a
variety of factors that contribute to human development. A person not only grows physically but also
cognitively and socio emotionally. This paper will explain two theories; one cognitive and one socio
emotional; about human development. The two theories will be described, compared, contrasted and
individually evaluated based on the strong points and limitations. The first theory examined is Albert
Bandura s social cognitive/learning theory. A child does not automatically know how to interpret their
environment, but they can learn about the world around them and how to manipulate their
surroundings by observing people around them. According to Bandura (2002), Viewed from the
sociocognitive perspective, human nature is characterised [sic] by a vast potentiality that can be
fashioned by direct and vicarious experience into a variety of forms within biological limits (pp. 271
272). Although a large amount of learning from watching other people happens in childhood, a person
can acquire new skills or knowledge at any point in their life with the help of other people. The second
theory examined is Erik Erikson s eight stages of psychosocial development. Each stage in Erikson s
theory involves a conflict/crisis that a person must work through to evolve their personality. Rosenthal
(1981) explains that, Each stage arises because a new dimension of social interaction

Plentifu Mark Twain s The War-Prayer
Realism and naturalism are both basic yet cynical views of life and humanity that arose during the
trials and turmoil of the 19th century. Both views stripped away the layers of romanticism to present a
natural or real viewpoint of the work. These forms of writing refuse to idealize or praise the subject
while also avoiding artificial, fantasy, or mystical elements. In American literature, the term realism
refers to writings that depict the realistic, everyday life of an average, middle class individual. It
portrays concrete reality closely and more emphasis is placed on the character and his purpose rather
than the plot and action. Word choice and diction used by realists are common vernacular and the
events that take place are plausible. The characters and plots are often based around factual events and
people, and it aims to show a truthful representation of reality. Realism began around the start of the
Civil War and lasted until the turn of the century a time of exponential growth for the United States.

Twain impeccably employs realism in a way that powerfully and effectively expresses his objective
message. He opens this story in the setting of a Sunday morning church congregation celebrating the
war and praying for safety, strength, courage, and well being of the soldiers as they go into battle. The
preacher prays blessings over the arms and that in the spirit of love God grant the victory. Throughout
this story, Twain illustrates realism not only through the language and dialect he portrays, but also the
representations of the characters. The reader can easily visualize being in the congregation due to the
realistic pride being portrayed by the American people and the common speech used during the prayer

The Characteristic Success In Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
In the book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell says extraordinary success is not about how hard a person
works, but it is really the hidden advantages and extraordinary opportunities and cultural legacies
(Gladwell 19). While a person s background and opportunities are important in a person s success, it is
not until a person chooses to take advantage of the opportunities they have been given can they truly
become successful. Many groups that Gladwell mentions in Outliers such as Ted Friedman, the
Beatles, and Robert Oppenheimer became achieved all their accomplishments because they took
advantage of the opportunities they were given.
[Ted Friedman was a Jewish litigator from New York. He succeeded because he took advantage of the
demographic luck presented to him.] Ted Friedman was able to go to one of the best schools at that
time, University of Michigan, because he happened to come along at a time in America when if you
were willing to work hard, you could take responsibility for yourself and put yourself through school,
(Gladwell 137). Even though Ted Friedman s family was poor during the time he was trying to go to
college, he did not just accept going to the free City College if he would rather be at the University of
Michigan. This inspired him to get a job to pay for college, and he was able to since he was born
during a demographic trough so many places were looking for hardworking people like Ted Friedman.
Ted Friedman could have just gone to the free college and

Emotion In Holden Caulfieinger s Catcher In The Rye
The character Holden Caulfieeld in the novel Catcher in the Rye covers his true feelings by giving the
audience and the characters in the story the impression that he doesn t care when in actuality , he cares
deeply about every aspect he has been through in the chapters. He provides very nonchalant , terse ,
and swearing responses to almost every conversation he s in . For example godamm movies or very
big deal as a symbol of his unconcerned attitude . The author Salinger used diction to convey the
decptive mood of the protaganist to mask most of his most hurtful moments . Caulfield s displays a
defense mechanism to shield his true emotions by showinging signals of non chalant actions too
surecure his ego and superego . Holden often callled the world fake and phony but couldn t induldge
the person he really was a phony too . Salinger states , Nobody d move .. Nobody d be different . The
only thing would be different would be you to prodcast the imagenery lense the character observed the
museum through . He uses you which is an example of the phsycolantic lense because , the you in the
statement is used as a shield to shadow his real feelings towards the situation . In order to keep the
audience unaware of what his mind and soul are battling his i.d protects his deeper thoughts . Nobody
d move , Nobody d be different is visual symbolism to the fact that Caulfield is afraid of change . The
character would know what is expected , he

Multiple Health Issues
Chronicity and disability are major burden on an individual worldwide. Early habilitation and health
promotion through health teachings are the primary aim of nursing care to obtain optimum health and
wellbeing. However, providing education is challenging especially for people with moderate
intellectual disability and chronic illness. This essay will discuss the multiple health issues and health
impacts on a 45 year old man with Down syndrome (DS), Moderate Intellectual Disability (MID) and
a chronic illness which is Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). Using the ICF model, it will examine the level of
functioning of this man, I will refer him as Pete and how these multiple health challenges will
contribute to his activity and participation throughout his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obesity is generally common in DS and as a result T2D may develop (de Winter, Bastiaanse,
Hilgenkamp, Evenhuis Echteld, 2011). The prevalence rate of Diabetes Mellitus diagnosed before age
20 in DS people had increased significantly over the past year due to diet and sedentary lifestyle
(Australian Institute and Health and Welfare, 2013). The predisposing factors of a person with DS and
MID to develop T2D are the same as in the general population. These factors include familial traits,
age (45 and above) obesity and sedentary lifestyle (Taggart, Coates Truesdale Kennedy, 2012).
Normally, the body uses insulin to breakdown the sugar and carbohydrates into glucose to use it for
energy. With T2D, the body does not produce enough insulin in order to convert the glucose into
energy or the body increases insulin resistance to the normal effects of insulin (Diabetes Australia,
2015). Based on the research literature, self management of the symptoms through education
regarding their diet and exercise given by Health Care Provider (HCP) can lead to better health
outcomes if the person is compliant. However, the presence of T2D is complicated and more
demanding for a person with DS and MID. There are many health problems associated with daily
management regime including food preparation particularly diabetic diet, being physically active,
monitoring and interpreting blood glucose level (BGL) and lastly

Computer Programming And Software Design Essay INTRODUCTION An important, underrated and often overlooked tool for Computer Supported Collaborative Work, henceforth abbreviated CSCW, is the revision control system or version control system, henceforth abbreviated as RCS, or VCS, respectively. There are a plethora of RCS and VCS available from which to choose. Within the field of computer programming and software design, the use of RCS or VCS is a vital best practice, especially in development environments with many programmers, developers, engineers, administrators, and managers. However, RCS or VCS can and should be used wherever there are larger groups of CSCW regardless of the domain. Unlike labor, works sole relation to providing viable living conditions results in the view of every thing and every person as a means to make the object. Through the activity of work, the end justifies the means. This results in people being treated as a means to an end instead of a unique person. Because products of work are so durable and have a long lifespan, they provide continuity with the past. This is a type of power assertive method of discipline where children are subjected to punishments without explanation or justification. World War II has had the most fatalities and injuries of any war in human history, accumulating 50 million to 85 million fatalities, with most being civilians in the Soviet Union and China. World War 2 had events such as the genocide of Jews orchestrated by Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party, bombings, starvation, disease and the use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which was the first use of nuclear weapons in history. During the war the royal navy had noticed that aircraft carriers were becoming the ultimate ships for naval warfare, and that the royal navy s former naval superiority in terms of their battleships had become irrelevant. The royal navy had noticed that battleships could no longer fulfil their roles in a cost effective manner. They were too big, too expensive to build and maintain, and their crews too large. Due to this the royal navy was an early innovator in aircraft carrier design, introducing armoured flight decks, in place of the battleships. This then meant that the royal navy focused more on building aircraft carriers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These birds are able to hover in mid air, dart from side to side, go straight up or down, or even backwards. They can out fly and out maneuver birds hundreds of times their size. There are many factors that contribute to the hummingbirds ability to fly so easily through the air. A hummingbird s wings are shaped so that they are slightly rounded on the top. Their wings flaps 15 80 times per second, depending on the type of species they are. The Giant Hummingbird s wings beat 8 10 beats per second, the wings of medium size hummingbirds beat 20 25 beats per second and the smallest beat 70 beats per second. ... Hummingbirds are durable only in life. In death they are delicate, their wings are hollow and fragile, thus almost never fossilize. This was one of the reason that the recent discovery of 30 million year old fossil bird that remains may include an ancestral hummingbird. . Its fossil specimens had long, slender bills ,and shortened upper wings bones topped by a knob. Surprisingly, fossils were found in the southern part of Germany which was far away from the modern hummingbird territory. Hummingbird s aggression were shaped by sipping nectar as often as every minutes. They compete by challenging and bullying each other in mid air; post up and pirouette, dive to the grass, and paddle backward in dances of dominance that end suddenly as they begin. PSYC 121: Introduction to Psychology 1 Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy? Aisha Atherton 300335111 Tutor s Name: Nick Allan Tuesday, 5.10 7pm, EA404A Abstract The point of this investigation was to determine if there is a relationship between the two subtypes of psychopathy and cognitive empathy. A correlation design was employed, in which Levenson, Kiehl and Fitzpatrick s (1994) Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and Baron Cohel, et al s (2002) Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests were given to 452 Victoria University Psychology students. Calculations were made, and resulted in the results to being a significant, negative correlation between primary psychopathy and cognitive empathy, but no significant correlation between secondary psychopathy and cognitive empathy. This concludes that not all psychopathy is correlated with cognitive empathy, but there is a relationship. Is There a Correlation Between Primary Psychopathy, Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy? Many studies have been conducted to determine if there is a correlation between Cognitive Empathy and the two subtypes of Psychopathy (e.g. Ali Chamorro Premuzic, 2010; Levenson, Kiehl, Fitzpatrick, 1994; Baron Cohen, et al., 2002). This was a right given to us by the First Amendment of the Constitution. The act of censorship creates a barrier between media and freedom of speech. Due to the topic of censorship, many Americans have different opinions on if censorship is a violation of their rights as a citizen of the United States or if it is to preserve the wellbeing of the country. Before the internet became as powerful as it is today, the government reviewed every article, news report, and television show before being released for public viewing to prevent indecencies from occurring in the media. Consequently, as the media continues to flourish, it creates difficulties in the government being able to track everything that is online. Furthermore, the uprising of the internet creates more of a reason for censorship in the media, especially due to the increased use of the internet by children. One of the most prominent themes throughout his narrative was the reaction of weeping in a situation of separation. Whether it was Monica grieving when her son left for Rome or Augustine lamenting the distance between himself and God, these scenes of weeping proved incredibly crucial to the presentation of his life story, acting as frames for specific points in his life. Through his placement and description of four specific scenes of weeping, Augustine created a pattern of mirrored events that marked the distinction between his life prior to and after his conversion. One of the first pressing occasions of a separation was the instance of Monica weeping when she discovered that Augustine had left Christianity behind to be a Manichee. He described that she wept for [him] before [God] more than mothers weep when lamenting their dead children, as she was overwhelmed with sorrow that her son was separating himself from God (Conf. 3.19). A person not only grows physically but also cognitively and socio emotionally. This paper will explain two theories; one cognitive and one socio emotional; about human development. The two theories will be described, compared, contrasted and individually evaluated based on the strong points and limitations. The first theory examined is Albert Bandura s social cognitive/learning theory. A child does not automatically know how to interpret their environment, but they can learn about the world around them and how to manipulate their surroundings by observing people around them. According to Bandura (2002), Viewed from the sociocognitive perspective, human nature is characterised [sic] by a vast potentiality that can be fashioned by direct and vicarious experience into a variety of forms within biological limits (pp. 271 272). Although a large amount of learning from watching other people happens in childhood, a person can acquire new skills or knowledge at any point in their life with the help of other people. The second theory examined is Erik Erikson s eight stages of psychosocial development.
