A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer Essay
The book I read is called A Child Called It. It is written by Dave Pelzer. The theme of this book is
to keep hope alive. You should have faith and dreams to have something to look forward to in
your future especially when you feel you can t go on any more. Like Dave, he felt trapped as if
he was never going to be free. He used his dreams and illusions every time he was hurting to help
him get away from the pain. This is what kept this little boy alive. He had something to reach for
and never quit. The protagonist is a 9 year old boy, Dave Pelzer. The setting mostly takes place in
his mother s house. All of a sudden his mother and father started drinking and had problems in their
relationship. His mother is always telling him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He always thought his father was going to save him and take him away. As time passed by, he
saw that things were just getting worse between his mother and him and his father wouldn t do
nothing about it. He lost hope and didn t care about anything. But he started to dream at night
that one day he would get out of the hell hole he was living in. He realized that if he wanted to
survive he would have to be strong and beat his mother at her torturing games. He just kept
thinking to himself one day I will get out of here. He started building a self esteem. He started
realizing what was happening wasn t his fault and one day decided to tell someone at school.
The conflict of the story was Dave s mother. She was cruel and unloving. She would drink and
abuse Dave. For some reasons she never beat any of her other kids. Every time he stood up to
her she would tell him he was a nobody or an it . She did cruel things for no reason. For example
one time she tried putting him on the stove to burn him. Other times she would make a gas out
of ammonia and Clorox in the bathroom and lock him in there for hours. The climax of the story
is when people at school start noticing cuts and bruises on David. When a social worker is sent to
his house, his mother starts treating him with love and pretends she s sorry. Dave believes it and
doesn t say anything when the social worker comes. Dave thinks his dreams have come true and is
very happy not knowing when the social

A New World Developed Between The 16th And 18th Century
A new world developed between the 16th and 18th century focused on growing empires
establishments of power and profit . Ogborn argues that through various types of global connections
and the rise and fall of global powers, a global history was created. In particular, the exchange of
goods and services by Britain and the English colonies was only obtainable through utilizing
transportation. As a result, an advantageous Atlantic economy was formed . Britain applied
transportation as a method of ridding the country of undesirables, which included convicts, and
consequently created the criminal transportation system. Beattie notes that Britain was
simultaneously able to benefit the English colonies, providing the colonists with servants... Show

As the colonial period prevailed in the 17th century and the settlers continued to create a society in
the new world, suspicion arose towards settlers and natives with distinctly unique life styles. These
foreigners were viewed as threatening to the colonists newly established societies. The first English
colonies were religiously intolerable, particularly towards Quakers . The English settlers also
feared the Native Americans because of their foreign way of life and their already established
communities on land settlers sought after . Correspondingly, the colonists began to believe it was
their moral duty to preserve their cultural identity as Englishmen . Though the Quakers were a
peaceful religion posing no actual threat, Virginia denounced them as endangering the society s
peace and safety in 1662. As a result, colonial court authorities in Virginia banished Quakers, upon
their third offense, when found practicing their religion . The Native Americans, on the other hand,
did actually pose a dangerous threat to the colonists in the early 17th century. The first Indian
uprising occurred in 1622 and became known as the Virginia Massacre. This event occurred because
of the Native Americans fear of losing their land to settlers . Anti Indian sentiment was soon after
instilled into English colonists. Colonial authorities and settlers began to adopt the view that it was
their duty

Section 8 Housing Case Study
I chose to focus on the rent voucher/section 8 housing, because it is very common in my town
and the surrounding towns I grew up in. Section 8 housing was created to help those who could
afford housing, particularly for those who are low income. Voucher housing better known as
section 8 housing allows low income people to live in a private market housing unit, the landlord,
who is in a contract with the government, is not allowed to take anymore than 30% of your income
for rent (Palen, 255). In 2000, there were more than 1.4 million families that lived in section 8
housing, but many families could not find apartments that they could afford to qualify, because
their income was to high (Palen, 255). Because of the lack of section 8 apartments the Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has increased the amount of apartments open to receive
section 8 housing (Palen, 255). Although section 8 housing is very popular for developers and
business people, many section 8 housing apartments have had many tough times because of
dishonest officials (Palen, 255). The construction of new low income housing has seen its share of
failures in the past , which is why rent vouchers tend to be more common rather than building a
whole low income housing unit that could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Department of Housing and Urban development defines housing choice vouchers as, a program
that is federally funded for assisting very low income families, the elderly, and the disabled to
afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market (Castro). This definition is very
similar to that of Palen s definition in the book, they both cover it being federally funded, but the
article goes into more detail on who can apply for the voucher and why. The article does go into
more detail about the process of finding an apartment, or in some cases a house, to live in and the
landlord must accept the terms of the voucher for the family to live in the that particular unit or

Introduction to Masdar City
Masdar City, set out as an arcology project, a vision of architectural design principles and ecology,
that appears as science fiction due to it s main structure which minimizes individual human
environmental impact.
Built in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE, this project was funded by the government of Abu Dhabi and
designed by the British architectural firm Foster and Partners. The city will also host the
headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency, and is designed to be the center of
clean technology companies.
Masdar city is structured uniquely, and designed to be friendly to pedestrians and cyclists.
Although it looks like a cube from a distance, its closely aligned patterned design buildings allow
for airflow in the city which cools in down by 15 to 20 degree Celsius. The city itself relies on solar
energy and other renewable resources.
The initial design of the city banned automobiles, and their solutions for mobility include a public
mass transit and a personal rapid transit system, with existing road and railways leading to the city s
perimeter.
The majority of private vehicles will be restricted to parking along the city s

Analysis Of Lunar Eclipses By Robert Roy Britt
In the article Lunar Eclipses: What are They When is the Next One, Robert Roy Britt explains the
causation and the nature of these celestial bodies. A lunar eclipse appears when the Earth is
directly between the moon and the sun. Appearing only on a night of a full moon, a lunar eclipse is
formed when the Earthblocks any direct sunlight from reaching the moon. And this can only happen
when the Sun, Earth and the Moon are aligned to form a straight line, generally referred to as a
syzygy. A total lunar eclipse can only occur when these celestial objects are perfectly in line,
however, anything less than perfection creates a partial or penumbral lunar eclipse. Robert Roy
Britt also concludes in his article the 3 different types of lunar eclipses; total lunar eclipse, partial
lunar eclipse, and penumbral lunar eclipse. People are very fond of these lunar eclipses;... Show

People used to be terrified, especially, when the total lunar eclipses turned the moon blood red.
Individuals, who were illiterate from the understanding of the celestial objects outside the Earth
s atmosphere, blamed such events on god. For instance, Christopher Columbus knew the nature
of these objects and used it against the natives. Just before the total phase of the eclipse was
about to end, Columbus said God had pardoned the natives and would bring the moon back. The
crew was well fed until help arrived in November and Columbus and his men sailed back to
Spain (Britt, 2016). However now we know, the exact color of the moon depends on the amount
of dust and clouds are in the atmosphere. According to NASA scientists, if there are extra particles
in the atmosphere, from say a recent volcanic eruption, the moon will appear a darker shade of red
(Britt, 2016). Theoretically, from previous ages, we are getting a better understanding of the events
that are happening in space according to technological

How To Kill Achilles
On Wednesday of June 2, 1257 B.C., Achilles joined the war effort in order to revenge the death of
his dear friend Patroclus.
Previously, Achilles had remained out of the war due to complications with Agamemnon, but that
all changed with Patroclus s murder. Achilles set his problems aside so he could create justice in
his mind.
Achilles found out about his friend s death from Antilochus. He realized that he could only
console himself by killing Hector, the man who killed Patroclus. Achilles was greatly troubled
when Patroclus was slain by Hector. I tried to comfort him, but he was set on killing Hector. He
swore that he wouldn t rest or eat until Hector was dead said Achilles s mother, Thetis.

largest market. You can trade in forex from anywhere in the world. It s your world, trade it to
make money under less risk. Introduction: The remote trade showcase (forex, FX, or coin
market) is a worldwide decentralized market for the exchanging of monetary forms. This
incorporates all parts of purchasing, offering and trading monetary forms at present or decided
costs. As far as volume of exchanging, it is by a long shot the biggest market in the world. 1.The
primary members in this market are the bigger global banks. Money related bases on the world
capacity as grapples of exchanging between an extensive variety of numerous sorts of purchasers
and merchants all day and all night, except for ends of the week. The outside trade showcase does
not decide the relative estimations of various monetary forms, but rather sets the present market
cost of the estimation of one coin as requested against another. The outside trade showcase works
through monetary foundations, and it works on a few levels. Off camera banks swing to a littler
number of monetary firms known as merchants , who are effectively required in substantial
amounts of remote trade exchanging. Most outside trade merchants are banks, so this off camera
market is some of the time called the interbank showcase , inspite of the fact that a couple

The Industrial Revolution And Child Labor
The Industrial Revolution and Child Labor in America
Throughout the American Industrial Revolution, child labor in industries such as textiles,
agriculture, mining, manufacturing, laboring, street work, and domestic work was endemic in the
United States. Several factors, including mechanization, urbanization, industrialization, poverty,
labor shortages, and lack of regulation were the primary causes for this increase in child labor.
Children, as young as three years old, worked from sunrise to sunset in factories, mines, fields, and
mills where conditions were excruciating. The arduous work resulted in myriad deleterious effects,
namely, afflictive injuries, pitiful deaths, and bleak futures. In order to curtail the abusive
conditions, numerous people championed the rights of child laborers and ultimately achieved their
concordant goal of gaining federal regulation of minimum employment ages, permissible types of
jobs, and duration of work hours for youths.
During the Industrial Revolution, there was a major increase in child labor for several reasons.
However, the primary causes for this increase in child labor during the Industrial Revolution were
particularly unique: They weren t random, separate, and independent features that just happened to
be contemporaneous; they worked in tandem.
Both prior to and during the early stages of the Industrial Revolution, the overall standards of living
in the United States were squalid. The general populace particularly the working

How Glaciers Can Alter The Shape Of A Valley
1. Explain how glaciers can alter the shape of a valley in terms of how the valley looks before and
after the effects of the glacier.
Many locations around the world in places where its snows throughout the year temperature stays
cold and frosty. This will cause snow not to melt but sometimes creates a firn. When the snow gets
suppressed deeper in the snowpack it can turn in to a glacier ice. Glacier is massive, long lasting,
moving mass of ice compacted snow and ice (Thompson, 2007). These gigantic moving mass can
only be made on land where the quantity of snow is more abundant than the snow that had
previously melted in the summer. Glaciers are influenced by geologic forces, temperature changes,
and snowfall (RioLearn, 2016). There are two types of glaciers the first type is an alpine glacier

For example the Colorado Plateau which covers a large area of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico,
and Utah. This region consist of sediments that have mounted up to form what are now
sedimentary rocks. Deeply formed rocks were uplifted, eroded, and exposed for eons. By 600
million years ago North America had been beveled off to a remarkably smooth surface. It is on
this crystalline rock surface that the younger, more familiar layered rocks of the Colorado
Plateau were deposited (Geologic, 2014). Death Valley is part of a percentage of the Great Basin,
desert streams to some extent erode the surrounding mountains and deposited. When faulting does
not end it makes the valley deeper but at the same moment streams can fill them with sediment.
Another process is when tectonic forces create mountains. Prevailing winds, warm moist air rises,
rising air generates low pressure, which leads to precipitation and dry air descends, creating high
pressure zone creates a rain shadow desert. (Thompson, 2007). Death Valley is one of the areas
where a person can find a rain shadow

Essay On Congenital Hypopituitarism
Discussion:
Congenital hypopituitarism is a rare condition and refers to absence or reduction in function of two
or more hormones produced by pituitary gland. When all pituitary hormones are affected the term
panhypopituitarism is used. It can be congenital or acquired. Congenital hypopituitarism is
potentially fatal in newborn period but treatable if the diagnosis is made early. Presentation of
hypopituitarism can vary in different patients. In our case patient presented with septic shock,
persistent hypoglycemia , seizures, hypothermia and jaundice
Blizzard and Albert s3 first reported Congenital Hypopituitarism in 1956, which described a

presentation5. It can also be associated with midline alterations6 .
Congenital hypopituitarism should be followed regularly. It has been suggested these patients have

and thorough investigation for unexplained hypoglycemia in the newborn. It also emphasises the
fact that the association of hypoglycemia and microphallus in the male neonate is presumptive
evidence of congenital hypopituitarism. To our knowledge this is the first report of association of
late onset congenital hypopituitarism with septic shock and

The Movie The Star Spangled Banner
Since the early 1900s, the playing of The Star Spangled Banner is an opportunity for citizens to
honor their country and reflect on the great liberties that they are afforded. It sounds simple but the
anthem has become complicated. This is America 2016, a time where police officers are getting
away with murder and a businessman is elected as our president. When the quarterback of the San
Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick decided to not stand for the playing of the national anthem in the
pre season game of the NFL, he was the first athlete to vividly illustrate his outrage over the police
brutality stirring within the American population. His actions have led to a wave of athlete protests
who are joining to exercise their constitutional rights and help fight against an issue bigger than
sports. However, there are many citizens attacking the silent protests with violent threats and are
calling the participants disrespectful. While the controversy has centered on the playing of The Star
Spangled Banner, it has been overlooked that the problem is really with the entire country and the
cultural divisions that exist in today s society. Although many patriotic fans are criticizing and
denouncing his actions, Kaepernick and many other protesters are making a difference by standing
against the oppression of minorities and social injustices that are gripping our nation. After
Kaepernick protested against the national anthem, it inspired many athletes to join his silent actions.

The Necklace Character Analysis
What would you do if you were in Loisel s shoes the night of the ball? Loisel in The Necklace
has three distinct traits; greed, selfishness, and insecurity. Loisel, is an interesting character with
many traits. The first trait that stands out was greediness in Loisel. She is married to a rich man
that works in the Department of Education. One night after work the husband came home with
an invitation to a ball. Despite his pride when he came with the invitation, she opened it and
threw the invitation on the table with annoyance, saying What do you want me to do with that?
She was aggravated with the fact she can t go because she did not have anything to wear and
didn t want to look poor in front of all the rich women. After discussing the invitation, she asked
her husband What do you want me to put on my back to go there? He says But the dress in
which you go to the theater. That looks very well to me. He stops resisting when she began
crying about not having anything to wear. As she cries, he asks how much would this cost, a
proper dress, which would do on other occasions; something very simple? , consequently giving
in to her greediness to buy her a new dress. After providing her with a nice dress she became
even greedier, desiring a new necklace. Her husband replied, You will wear some natural flowers.
They are very stylish this time of the year. For ten francs you will have two or three magnificent
roses. Her husband tries to give her as much as he can but

The Cost Of Employees For Teleworking
Majority of employees decide for teleworking mainly because of several benefits teleworking is
offering. The first advantage is harmony of work and personal life. Employees have more free time
they can spend with their children and family. Next advantage means higher flexibility as
teleworkers may often chose the working hours and take the advantage for themselves. This allows
them to choose the hours during which they are the most productive. Furthermore, teleworkers
decreased everyday commutingto work saving their time, additional costs for travelling as well as
stress (Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). In addition, not only employees benefit from teleworking.
Company profits from teleworkers as well. Late research of the British Broadcasting Corporation
showed savings of approximately 25 per cent. These savings are the results of decrease of bills in
office space including heating, electricity (Loughran, 1998 as quoted in Mann and Holdsworth,
2003). Implications for increased productivity, loyalty and overall quality of work have been found
among teleworkers (Baruch, 2000).
However, teleworking is accompanied by a range of negatives too. The most common of them is
social segregation. An analysis from 1983 showed that 60 per cent of teleworkers in Great Britain
considered social segregation to be the greatest drawback of teleworking (Huws, 1984 as quoted in
Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). Presenteeism is regarded as another disadvantage of teleworking.
Teleworkers are hardly

The Life of John Brown
Caution, Sir! I am eternally tired of hearing that word caution. It is nothing but the word of
cowardice! ( John Brown ) John Brown, known for his actions prior to the Civil War, spoke these
words, and they truly show who he is. Brown, born on May 9, 1800, in Torrington, Connecticut,
fought for everything he believed was right all the way up until his death in 1859. He was known
mostly as an abolitionist and a freedom fighter, constantly trying to liberate slavery. John Browns
actions would lead him to having a role in Bleeding Kansas, as well as Harper s Ferry. John
Brown was born in Connecticut and was the fourth child of Owen Brown. Growing up, he
would go to church with his family, but would later leave at the age of sixteen to Morris
Academy to become a minister. He had to leave the college and return to his family to work in
his father s tannery due to eye inflammations. Finally, in 1836, John Brown finally settled down
in Ohio with his second wife and lived a normal life. He then moved once again to Springfield,
Massachusetts, where he would vow after the murder of a man named Elijah Lovejoy, Here,
before God, in the presence of these witnesses, from this time, I consecrate my life to the
destruction of slavery! ( Holy war ) After the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, John Brown would

The Importance Of Media Literacy
Indeed, the pervasiveness of media in its abundant forms in contemporary US culture is
undeniable. Almost everywhere one looks, one can find forms of media; a magazine at a doctor s

Thus, it the individual s ability to interpret these forms and decipher their meaning has become

7 8). Hoechsmann Poyntz furthers Buckingham s argument by eloquently writing, Rather than
being positioned as victims, a focus on media... addresses the complex ways youths become agents
in their life and the lives of others (Hoechsmann Poyntz, 2012, p. 109).
Indeed, because the singular purpose of media is to convey an idea or a message to the masses,
media must have an audience; which is to say a group who consumes it. Further, because of its
omnipresence in US culture, media will certainly almost always have an audience; for anyone who
is exposed to media may be considered part of its audience; whether they consciously acknowledge
their participation or not. Consequently, through a variety of forms, such as access to television and
the internet, children today are exposed to media from a very early age. Assuredly, as
Buckingham suggests, starting from a young age of even four or five, children have already
started interacting with media (Buckingham, 2004, p. 41 45). Subsequently, children, from a very
early age, most certainly, are members of the media s audience. However, the central question
presented here is whether children should be forced to remain a passive consumer or be
encouraged to become an audience s active participant.

Explain Why Tobacco Should Not Be Allowed In Public Places
Passive smoking is not necessarily a voluntary action. Constant exposure to second hand smoke
can be attainable from homes, car, workplaces, and several varieties of public places. Personal
actions of active smokers affect others who wish to decline in the inhalation of tobaccos wide
quantity of 7,000 chemicals ( Secondhand Smoke ). In theory, to partake in an action that has an
unsure timeline of death is ones own choice; however, making this decision for others by subjecting
them to harm is unlawful. Smokingtobaccoshould not be allowed in public places, for these
reasons you put others lives at stake. First of all, I grew up in a smoking house hold, and my

Research Question: What is the effect of resistance/aerobic training and nutrition therapy on
function, fatigue, and pain in women with FM?
Abstract Background and Significance: Fibromyalgia (FM) symptoms such as pain and fatigue can
have a severe impact on function and quality of life. The exact etiology of FM is unknown,
consequently there is no single best treatment. Studies have shown that exercise plays a role in
modulating adverse symptoms of FM. Aerobic exercise has clearly been shown to improve
symptoms, but strength training still needs further study. Theories have also suggested that
nutrition may be linked to FM; whether it is a cause or effect is still unknown. This study will
examine the effects of exercise training and nutrition therapy on function, fatigue, and pain in
women with FM. Subjects and Methods: Subjects will include 594 women diagnosed with FM.
There will be 4 groups: an exercise group, a nutrition therapy group, an exercise and nutrition
therapy group, and a control group who will receives information on FM. The intervention will

Colin Powell Leadership Principles
Three Leadership Principles from the Colin Powell 18 Leadership Principles
After reading all 18 of Colin Powell leadership principles, three of the principles stood out that I
could identify with. The first, Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off.
The second principle, The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have
stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that
you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership. I also identify with Colin Powell s seventeenth
principle, Have fun in your command. Don t always run at a breakneck pace. Take leave when
you ve earned it: Spend time with your families. Corollary: Surround yourself with people who
take their work seriously, but not themselves, those who work hard and play hard. Colin Powell
s first principle was something I deal with daily. Working in food service for over 24 years you
learn that you cannot make everyone happy. Since 2011, I have been the Food Program Manager
for the INARNG. I approve or disapprove rations requests for all the Indiana Army National Guard
units and submit their requests to the state approved contracted vendor. The vendor has a timeline
to which they can process the orders and work with their vendors to get ration items into their
warehouse. The State Food Service SOP specifies the timelines for ration requests when using the
Army Food Management System (AFMIS). If a unit does not meet the time requirements for our
state vendor, then I will disapprove the request. I will give the unit limited choices for other types
of rations, usually Tailored Operational Training
Rations (TOTM), similar to MRE s. Some First Sergeants and company Commanders complain
about their meals, but I inform them on the State Food Service policy for submitting requests. If
I let one unit slide, then all of them will expect the same treatment. Recently, a new supply NCO
took over one of our infantry units. She once worked as the assistant to one of our brigade S4
sections and we develop a friendly professional relationship, afterwards we became Facebook
friends. When she started a change of supply inventory she found 90 cases of expired MRE s from

Laxus had heard about the only other known second generation dragon slayer. Before Nirvana

incredible power, and twisted minds. At that time, however, the fact that one of them possessed a
dragon slayer lacrima was not common knowledge, so he d heard about the apparent snake
charmer, or whatever the people believed, and shrugged it off.
However, when Natsu and his team returned after taking down one of the corners of the infamous

The thrill that flooded his veins at the defeat of Jura was addicting. He was strong. Of course, he
d known he was strong anyway, but defeating one of the ten wizard saints was important. He felt
like he d finally proven something to his father; the lightning dragon slayer lacrima had been put in
him because he hadn t been powerful enough. Now, he had not only single handedly defeated his
father and his guild, but he also beat a wizard saint.
But then the dragons happened, and suddenly he was one of the only people with the ability to
actually do anything. To kill a dragon was the reason for his power, the purpose of his magic, and
he was determined to do so. Last time he saw a dragon, Acnologia itself, even the power of four
dragon slayers was not enough, but now he was stronger, and he would protect everyone.
When he heard that Cobra, the poison dragon slayer, was also fighting, he briefly wondered
whether he also wanted to prove himself. Because despite the attitude, and the fights, and the

Analysis Of The Novel American Psycho By Bret Easton...
In the novel American Psycho written by Bret Easton Ellis, the protagonist Patrick Bateman uses
his wealth and violence which are exemplified in scenes involving the murder of his ex girlfriend
Bethany. As well as appealing to the idea to maintain his image by any means such as purchasing
expensive merchandises and taking the initiative to attend upscale restaurants. His actions with the
implications of those elements reveal the consumptions of status and privilege. The detailed
narration of Bateman s intense violent acts and purchases of expensive products creates imaginary
and conflict for readers to accept as true the impression he is trying to demonstrate to the general
public and associates. This may result in readers rejecting the character and concluding that
Bateman does not deserve/worthy of the position in society he desires to achieve. This plays a
significant part in how to read the novel because it demonstrates the obsession of acknowledgement
and the measurements individuals are prepared to carry out. The most attention Bateman receives
from the other characters in the novel is compliments on his tan instead of his success or presence.

Patsy Ramsey Case
Based on the research I conducted on the Ramsey case I would have to conclude the Patsy
Ramsey is the one that killed her daughter. Here s why I focus on Patsy Ramsey. First, the
ransom note was found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a
cup of coffee. How would a killer know this is where she would be going to first?
Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with
using a pen they had as well. If a kidnapper already knew they were going to kidnap someone, they
should have already written the note out or typed the note instead of physically writing the note.
The kidnapper knew they would have been taking JonBenet, so they would have been thoroughly
prepared. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramsey, but as the note drags on, he is then referred to as John. That makes it much more personal
and would be someone that knows him. I can t see a foreign faction calling him by his first name.
Fifth, the note was also long for a ransom note. Usually a ransom note is very short and to the
point such as give us this amount of money or the person dies if you don t do exactly as I say.
There was also a practice note found. What kind of kidnapper practices their ransom note at the
scene? You would have to feel extremely comfortable to know that no one in the house would
wake up and catch you in the act of writing a 3 page ransom note, much less write a practice note
first.
Sixth, the ransom note also stated to not have anyone in the house contact the authorities or talk to
anyone about the case or JonBenet would die. However, Patsy Ramsey did call the police and
invited friends and family over to discuss the case. If they did this, their daughter would be
beheaded. But yet, JonBenet was found strangled and beaten which is far from a beheading.
Seventh, there was no forced entry into the house which means it would possibly have been
someone from inside the house or someone that had access into the house to have committed the

What Is The Theme Of Tanjong Rhu
The film Tanjong Rhu by Boo Junfeng is a recount of the notorious arrest of twelve gay men in an
entrapment exercise in 1993. Being a conservative society, Singapore has meted out harsh
punishments against the Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender (LGBT) community.
Singaporeans are [also] disallowed from even speaking in public places about homosexual related

Essay about The Metamorphosis of Bertha in Katherine...
The Metamorphosis of Bertha in Katherine Mansfield s Bliss
Katherine Mansfield s Bliss is quite an interesting story full of underlying meanings and themes.
Upon a first reading, it seems to be a simple story of a woman who feels uncontainable bliss one
day, only to have it end when she discovers her husband is having an affair. Although this is a
correct interpretation, after a second reading, much more is apparent. Bliss is a story of the
revelation of a vibrant young woman, of criticism of society, and of sexual revolution.
In order to fully comprehend the work, we see that significance comes from small details. A tree is
the major symbol in this piece, and the details assist in understanding why the pear ... Show more

Could this awry feeling be coming from an unexpected extramarital affair in which Bertha s
significant other is involved? The audience s first glimpse at the affair that Harry, Bertha s
husband, is having may come when he phones home to say he will be late for their dinner party.
He gives no reasons for his tardiness, and his delayed arrival coincides with Miss Fulton s overdue
entrance. Could they have had a possible rendezvous before the dinner party? It is quite feasible.
It is also at this same time that the reader becomes aware of Bertha s yearning for her husband. It
is very evident in the line, She only wanted to get in touch with him for a moment (146). Bertha
is brimming with life, she wants to reach out and share it with someone. She tries to share it with
her baby, but all her feeling of bliss came back again, and again, she didn t know how to express
it (146). Bertha has trouble expressing these new feelings to others. The nanny is angry when
Bertha wants to feed the child, showing how little Bertha is involved in her daughter s life. The
audience becomes aware that Bertha and her husband are not intimate; they have more of a
friendship and partnership. With Bertha saying that she wanted to get in touch with Harry, an
explanation for her feelings begins to suggest itself; without her realizing what is happening, he
sexual desire is brewing inside of her.

How Did Jean Jacques Rousseau Influence The British...
Philosopher and novelist Jean Jacques Rousseau has had a significant influence on his belief about

The Computational Theory Of Mind By Steven Pinker
The computational theory of mind explains that our brains are made of information processors.
Every part of brain neuron s axon and molecules, all these nerve cell s propose is to be an
information carrier. The neurons are like sophisticated chips and with billion of neurons, you ended
up with one powerful computational device, which is brain. Brain is one hunk of matter that is
intelligent things that allows human beings to have cognitive equipment to processes of human
perception, problem solving, and decision making. The demons is a system that contains a memory
and reflexes. These demons are triggered by information and connected to sense. The mindis a
product of natural selection and in that sense, the mind is our ancestor s past. Our ancestor s
beliefs and desires are information, as part of our brain. The computational theory of mind allows
us to keep this information (beliefs and desires) in our explanations of behavior. By doing this, the
meaning ended up to cause and be cause. Steven Pinker believed that computational theory of mind
came about through natural selection in order for our ancestors to solve and problems with the new
conditions such as figuring out of how to defeat the plants and animals defenses before they
counteract. The software that we inherited from our ancestor has ability of natural computation due
to the goals and desires that are preprogrammed. Our minds are calculating the costs and benefits of

The Common Complication Following Surgical Procedures
Infections are the most common complication following surgical procedures and are associated
with significant morbidity, mortality and increased cost in health care (Anderson, 2014). As a
nurse working in a surgical capacity this is a concern for the patients. Working for a general
surgeon, surgical site infections are not commonly seen in the office, however, it remains one of
the top concerns for the well being of patients. Many evidence based studies are aimed at nurses
who provide care for patients in the pre, peri, and post operative periods. Perioperative nurses
prepare the skin for surgeryto remove soil and microorganisms at the point of incision
(Cowperthwaite Holm, 2015). Surgical site infections are easy to reduce given the proper
guidelines for prevention. This includes skin antisepsis, and surgical hand hygiene and technique.
A National Patient Safety Goal set up by the Joint Commission is to prevent surgical site infections
(The Joint Commission, 2015). One of the ways this is done is through reducing bacteria at the
surgical site. Skin is not sterile, but reducing the number of bacteria on the skin may help reduce
surgical site infections. (Cowperthwaite Holm, 2015) The circulating nurse, along with other key
personnel, plays a key role in preventing surgical site infections. Proper technique must be used to
reach the highest level of protection, starting with skin preperation. Typically, in the operating room
setting, there are two skin

Worldcom Bond Issuance
WORLDCOM, INC: CORPORATE BOND ISSUANCE 1.IS IT A GOOD TIME FOR
WORLDCOM, INC. TO ISSUE? CONSIDER FACTORS IN FAVOR AND FACTORS THAT
ARE NOT IN FAVOR. Personally I believe that the time is not in favor of WorldCom in
undertaking one of the largest bond issues at the time. Even though there are many advantages with
proceeding with the issue, I believe that the degree and the uncertainty raised by some of the
disadvantages outweigh the advantages of going ahead with the $6Billion bond. In the table below
are reflected both the advantages and disadvantages of proceeding with the bond.

However, this is not the case with WorldCom, as the company apparently has good reputation
and can get the required financing through loans. However, with bonds there is less flexibility to
resolve any future issues and there is always the pricing risk, but one pro of a bond is that there
is no periodical principal payment. The major challenge of any bond issue is the uncertainty, i.e.
the fact that companies cannot predict how markets will react to the issue. Moreover, the
volatility of the fixed income markets is a factor to be accounted for as well as how the credit
risk rating of the Company will be perceived and accepted by the investors. Another major
uncertainty is the bid to ask ratio. A potential major uncertainty, which is not present in the case
of WorldCom but presently has become an uncertainty in some markets, is the country risk
premium. If the operations are in a country that has a non stable political or sovereign state the
volatility of the country risk premium could be a major uncertainty that an issuer could face.

wrong in the world today, normal everyday people have the opportunity to fulfill a sense of
purpose and they have the chance to make their world a better place.
Community service is not only fun and rewarding experience, it also looks good really good on a
resume. By people stepping up to volunteer, it gives them a great sense of newfound purpose as
well. By giving back through community service this brings not only joy to those who are being
helped but a sense of pride and accomplishment for the person who is participating in community

The Sustainability Website, And There Are Some Positive...
I have recently reviewed the UMass sustainability website, and there is some positive things that I
have seen. There are also some things that could be improved upon. I will be discussing a number
of different issues regarding communication of sustainability, and how UMass appears to be
approaching those issues, as well as ways to improve our initiative.
To begin with I would like to state that there is a difference between the dominant and ecological
paradigm in the context of the sustainability initiative. The dominate paradigm is what values in a
society that are most standard and widely held. Dominant paradigms are shaped both by the
community s cultural background. The ecological paradigm sees the current dominant paradigm as

If what they say in their first statement is true, this is a good step. Exploring and communicating
ways to improve upon our communities practices, ideas, and technologies would fall into the new
ecological paradigm. It would be an attempted to shift away from the dominant unsustainable
paradigm. The next point mentioned in the mission statement is We educate the campus community
to create a healthier and more responsible environment . Education of a community is how a
paradigm shift will happen. Education about what is unsustainable, why being unsustainable is
harmful, and how to become more sustainable is absolutely vital in order to shift a community s
thoughts, ideas, and behaviors. Next the mission statement says that We develop progressive
solutions to reduce negative environmental impacts in ways that are economically beneficial .
Solutions to reduce negative environmental impacts are what is needed in order to change from
unsustainable to sustainable. Understanding problems won t help unless solutions to those
problems are known. Lastly, the mission statement says that We create and consistently advocate
for a diverse inclusive culture of sustainability throughout the campus community and beyond . By
trying to create and advocate a culture of sustainability, they are also trying to shift the paradigms
from the dominate to ecological. Based on the information provided by the mission statements, I
would have to say

Hitler s Mistakes In The Battle Of Dunkirk
Throughout Hitler s reign over Germany, he made several major mistakes. His first major mistake
was his inability to quickly annihilate Britain in the battle of Dunkirk, whom ultimately contributed
to the German defeat. The battle of Dunkirk took place during the summer of 1940, beginning May
26th to June 4th. At this point, Germanyhad Britain, France, and Poland surrounded, but Hitler
did not order his troops to engage because he wanted to please a potential ally, the Russians.
Stalin (Russian leader) did not trust Hitler and was prepared in advance for war with Germany.
Hitler always kept in mind that he would eventually attack Russia, which he did later on in the
war. So, by having Russia on his side, he would not only have the biggest country in the world at
his fingertips but it would be easier to eventually take it over. In order to... Show more content on

This battle took place from June 22 to December 5, 1941 and demonstrates how Germany broke
their pact with Russia. This opened up the Eastern front, meaning the German s would have to
fight on two fronts instead of one. Hitler made an mistake attacking Russia in the first place, but
to make it worse, he gave Stalin enough time to build his defences during Hitler s decision to not
eliminate the British during the battle of Dunkirk. His strategy of invading Russia was over
before the two forces even fought. There was no reason for the pact between Germany and
Russia to break as Russia was not a threat to Germany at this point. Hitler s greedy, anti
communist views overpowered him when he realized he had conquered most of Europe. Hitler did
not think that the other democratic countries would side with Russia. He rushed his plans and it
resulted in a defeat. He would have ultimately been better off breaking the pact when he conquered
the other empires who were more of a threat to the Germans first. This is another example of how
unqualified Hitler was as a

Character Analysis of Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena...
Finding One s Self in Times of Trouble : An explication of the Helena Maria Viramontes novel
Under the Feet of Jesus.
Helena Maria Viramontes Under the Feet of Jesus portrays the maturing of Estrella, a young Latina
that seems to awaken in many different aspects of her life. The author s use of Estrella give the
book its strength and potency. Estrella is an affectionate character, which is at the center of all the
important issues. She is used a symbol to represent the small amount of strength that lingers at a
person s weakest point. Estrella, throughout the entire novel, serves as the strong base for the
family and through the setting established, the audience is able to see her grow in her social,
political, economical, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book s main appeal and power is the author s use of Estrella, who serves as the focal point of
all the large issues. In one particular scene, we see Estrella playing with one a naked doll.
Estrella asks the naked doll if she was okay and then shook the doll s head No . This
conversation with the doll can be seen as the sense of denial that takes place in a child s mind
that is not allowed to openly express herself, her fears, her anxieties, and her hopes. She allows
the doll to represent her honest feelings about the lifestyle of living she is placed in. She is a
unique and interesting individual, who will not grow up to be knocked down by economic issues,
difficult labor, and especially men.
She is being raised in a world where women are expected to suffer silently and to be at the mercy
of their men. However, men were not expected to return this slave like behavior for the women.
This setting of the novel allows the reader to see exactly how treacherous life can be. This
suffering is so present in Estrella s family s lives, yet she somehow is able to bring the family
along no matter how difficult the situation may be. She is still trapped in between two very
different worlds: She tried to remember which side she was on and which side of the wire mesh
she was safe in (59). Her mother may be taken over by a world of suffering, but she is not so
beaten that she cannot pass some of her fighting

Iran And The Iranian Nuclear Program
Iran is currently a burning issue due to its nuclear program and the dialogue between the USA
and Iran has seemed very complicated since years. Western countries have feared that Iran wants
to acquire the atomic bomb since they have discovered its nuclear program in 2003. From that
moment Iran has been considered as a real threat by the USA. But in fact the relations between
these two countries have begun about 150 years ago and have not always been tense. The first
relations were also cordial and useful for both parties. Iranused the US help to develop its education
and industry, notably its oil industry, and the USA found an ally in the Middle East.
So why Iran came to be perceived as a threat to the US and is it still a threat?
Firstly we will focus on the beginning of the relations between the two countries. Then we will see
how the Islamic revolution in 1979 radically changed the relationships. We will also examine the
current issue of the Iranian nuclear program. Finally we will try to understand the foreign policy
and the intentions of Tehran.
1.Iran and the Cold War 1950s
The first official relations between the USA and Iran began in 1856 when the Shah of Persia
Nasreddine sent an ambassador to Washington. Until the Second World War these relations were
cordial. Actually the support of the USA served as a buffer against the pressure of the British and
Russian Empire on Iran. But the implication of the USA in Iran was still limited. This situation

Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors
Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are a family of multi subunit transmembrane
neurotransmitter receptors. They do many functions in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, or nAChRs are receptors that make a response to the
neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Nicotinic receptors can respond to some drugs, such as the
nicotinic receptor agonist nicotine. So where can we find these receptors?
We find these receptors in the central nervous systemof humans (CNS). But is play an important
role in peripheral nervous system for example :
1 Transition of signals from presynaptic to postsynaptic cells within the sympathetic and
parasympathetic nervous system

Radiation and chemotherapy may only partially penetrate a tumor; remaining malignant tissue will
allow the cancer to reoccur within the patient. Incomplete tumor removal is a risk associated with
surgical removal of cancerous tissue.3 Additionally, studies have shown that radiation promotes
cancerous cell growth. Radiation promotes a cellular process known as autophagy, which supports
metabolic functions while a cell is living with some sort of environmental stress. Typically, the cell
will degrade longstanding organelles and proteins to recycle the molecular units of macromolecules.
This becomes an alternate source of nutrients during cell survival. Within a premalignant cell,
autophagy will prevent a cell from replicating if it is cancerous. Once the cell has become
malignant, it is living under environmentally stress induced by hypoxia and nutrient depletion.
Malignant cells are dependent of autophagy for survival, and radiation promotes autophagy; this,
radiation promotes cancer.4 Current cancer treatments have high risks of harsh side effects and a
high probability of reoccurring cancer. There is an urgent need for new anticancer therapies;
compounds derived from the natural products of bacteria and fungi have been investigated as a
possible solution. The natural product industry gained popularity around1970 1980 and the primary
focus is to determine the structure of small molecule produced

Fixed Rate Mortgage Loans
When shopping for a mortgage loan, the first thing to consider is which type of mortgage is
right for you. Mortgage loans come in two basic categories, fixed rate and adjustable rate; but
within these two categories, there are several other possible loan types that many consumers
mistakenly don t take the proper time to educate themselves about. In this article, we will be
addressing fixed rate loans. Most people know what the terms of a fixed rate mortgage entails;
basically, the interest rate remains stable over the life of the loan. Fixed rate loans generally
come in both a 15 year and 30 year term. Recently, some lenders also began offer both 10 year
and 40 year terms as well. So which term is better? That really depends on the borrower. Shorter
terms will have a higher payment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The payment on this loan for a 30 year, fixed rate loan would be $536.82 per month. Generally,
the shorter the term the lower the rate, so the payment for the same $100,000 loan on a 15 year,
fixed rate at an interest rate of 4.75% would be $777.83 per month or $241.01 higher than the 30
year loan. Some people that can afford the 15 year rate might opt to pay the extra $241.01 and
pay off their mortgage in half the time, the only problem with this is once you sign up for the 15
year term you must make this payment each and every month. If the extra $241.01 becomes
difficult to make no matter what the reason, the only way to reduce the payment is to refinance
the property. However, knowing this loan has no prepayment penalty in part means if you opt
for the lower, 30 year payment, you are still free to pay the extra $241.01 every month if you can
afford it. Even at the higher rate of 5%, if you paid the $777.83 each month, the 30 year loan
would be paid off in full in 15 years and 5 months. However, if at anytime you couldn t afford the
extra $241.01, there would be no penalty and you could avoid the cost of refinancing

Ogborn argues that through various types of global connections and the rise and fall of global powers, a global history was created. In particular, the exchange of goods and services by Britain and the English colonies was only obtainable through utilizing transportation. As a result, an advantageous Atlantic economy was formed . Britain applied transportation as a method of ridding the country of undesirables, which included convicts, and consequently created the criminal transportation system. As the colonial period prevailed in the 17th century and the settlers continued to create a society in the new world, suspicion arose towards settlers and natives with distinctly unique life styles. These foreigners were viewed as threatening to the colonists newly established societies. The first English colonies were religiously intolerable, particularly towards Quakers . The English settlers also feared the Native Americans because of their foreign way of life and their already established communities on land settlers sought after . Correspondingly, the colonists began to believe it was their moral duty to preserve their cultural identity as Englishmen . Though the Quakers were a peaceful religion posing no actual threat, Virginia denounced them as endangering the society s peace and safety in 1662. As a result, colonial court authorities in Virginia banished Quakers, upon their third offense, when found practicing their religion . The Native Americans, on the other hand, did actually pose a dangerous threat to the colonists in the early 17th century. The first Indian uprising occurred in 1622 and became known as the Virginia Massacre. This event occurred because of the Native Americans fear of losing their land to settlers . Anti Indian sentiment was soon after instilled into English colonists. Colonial authorities and settlers began to adopt the view that it was their duty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Section 8 Housing Case Study I chose to focus on the rent voucher/section 8 housing, because it is very common in my town and the surrounding towns I grew up in. Section 8 housing was created to help those who could afford housing, particularly for those who are low income. Voucher housing better known as section 8 housing allows low income people to live in a private market housing unit, the landlord, who is in a contract with the government, is not allowed to take anymore than 30% of your income for rent (Palen, 255). In 2000, there were more than 1.4 million families that lived in section 8 housing, but many families could not find apartments that they could afford to qualify, because their income was to high (Palen, 255). Because of the lack of section 8 apartments the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has increased the amount of apartments open to receive section 8 housing (Palen, 255). Although section 8 housing is very popular for developers and business people, many section 8 housing apartments have had many tough times because of dishonest officials (Palen, 255). The construction of new low income housing has seen its share of failures in the past , which is why rent vouchers tend to be more common rather than building a whole low income housing unit that could... • 9. Analysis Of Lunar Eclipses By Robert Roy Britt In the article Lunar Eclipses: What are They When is the Next One, Robert Roy Britt explains the causation and the nature of these celestial bodies. A lunar eclipse appears when the Earth is directly between the moon and the sun. Appearing only on a night of a full moon, a lunar eclipse is formed when the Earthblocks any direct sunlight from reaching the moon. And this can only happen when the Sun, Earth and the Moon are aligned to form a straight line, generally referred to as a syzygy. A total lunar eclipse can only occur when these celestial objects are perfectly in line, however, anything less than perfection creates a partial or penumbral lunar eclipse. Robert Roy Britt also concludes in his article the 3 different types of lunar eclipses; total lunar eclipse, partial lunar eclipse, and penumbral lunar eclipse. Individuals, who were illiterate from the understanding of the celestial objects outside the Earth s atmosphere, blamed such events on god. For instance, Christopher Columbus knew the nature of these objects and used it against the natives. Just before the total phase of the eclipse was about to end, Columbus said God had pardoned the natives and would bring the moon back. The crew was well fed until help arrived in November and Columbus and his men sailed back to Spain (Britt, 2016). However now we know, the exact color of the moon depends on the amount of dust and clouds are in the atmosphere. According to NASA scientists, if there are extra particles in the atmosphere, from say a recent volcanic eruption, the moon will appear a darker shade of red (Britt, 2016). You can trade in forex from anywhere in the world. It s your world, trade it to make money under less risk. Introduction: The remote trade showcase (forex, FX, or coin market) is a worldwide decentralized market for the exchanging of monetary forms. This incorporates all parts of purchasing, offering and trading monetary forms at present or decided costs. As far as volume of exchanging, it is by a long shot the biggest market in the world. 1.The primary members in this market are the bigger global banks. Money related bases on the world capacity as grapples of exchanging between an extensive variety of numerous sorts of purchasers and merchants all day and all night, except for ends of the week. The outside trade showcase does not decide the relative estimations of various monetary forms, but rather sets the present market cost of the estimation of one coin as requested against another. The outside trade showcase works through monetary foundations, and it works on a few levels. • 12. The Industrial Revolution And Child Labor The Industrial Revolution and Child Labor in America Throughout the American Industrial Revolution, child labor in industries such as textiles, agriculture, mining, manufacturing, laboring, street work, and domestic work was endemic in the United States. Several factors, including mechanization, urbanization, industrialization, poverty, labor shortages, and lack of regulation were the primary causes for this increase in child labor. Children, as young as three years old, worked from sunrise to sunset in factories, mines, fields, and mills where conditions were excruciating. The arduous work resulted in myriad deleterious effects, namely, afflictive injuries, pitiful deaths, and bleak futures. In order to curtail the abusive conditions, numerous people championed the rights of child laborers and ultimately achieved their concordant goal of gaining federal regulation of minimum employment ages, permissible types of jobs, and duration of work hours for youths. During the Industrial Revolution, there was a major increase in child labor for several reasons. However, the primary causes for this increase in child labor during the Industrial Revolution were particularly unique: They weren t random, separate, and independent features that just happened to be contemporaneous; they worked in tandem. Both prior to and during the early stages of the Industrial Revolution, the overall standards of living in the United States were squalid. The general populace particularly the working ... Many locations around the world in places where its snows throughout the year temperature stays cold and frosty. This will cause snow not to melt but sometimes creates a firn. When the snow gets suppressed deeper in the snowpack it can turn in to a glacier ice. Glacier is massive, long lasting, moving mass of ice compacted snow and ice (Thompson, 2007). These gigantic moving mass can only be made on land where the quantity of snow is more abundant than the snow that had previously melted in the summer. The Movie The Star Spangled Banner Since the early 1900s, the playing of The Star Spangled Banner is an opportunity for citizens to honor their country and reflect on the great liberties that they are afforded. It sounds simple but the anthem has become complicated. This is America 2016, a time where police officers are getting away with murder and a businessman is elected as our president. When the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick decided to not stand for the playing of the national anthem in the pre season game of the NFL, he was the first athlete to vividly illustrate his outrage over the police brutality stirring within the American population. His actions have led to a wave of athlete protests who are joining to exercise their constitutional rights and help fight against an issue bigger than sports. However, there are many citizens attacking the silent protests with violent threats and are calling the participants disrespectful. While the controversy has centered on the playing of The Star Spangled Banner, it has been overlooked that the problem is really with the entire country and the cultural divisions that exist in today s society. Although many patriotic fans are criticizing and denouncing his actions, Kaepernick and many other protesters are making a difference by standing against the oppression of minorities and social injustices that are gripping our nation. After Kaepernick protested against the national anthem, it inspired many athletes to join his silent actions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some Brits will have already made plans to seek warmer weather and the almost guaranteed sun with warm breezes that come with booking a holiday in hot spots. Over the years I have had some pretty fabulous holidays overseas and in the UK and have a few photo s and fond memories to draw upon. These days with a combination of a husband with a dislike of flying and dogs who we don t wish to put into kennels, our holidays tend to revolve around our homeland and what treasures we have found too. From child friendly and latterly teen friendly holidays, to romantic getaways and action packed outings we have covered a huge array of accommodations, activities and explored some fantastic places. I can relate to all of the suggestions that precede the Ciao! Question: where will you be going and which products will you take with you? ~*~ We Love the West: This year, I turned to Airbnb for inspiration and to find suitable accommodation. From my shortlist we chose to stay on a boat in Brixham Marina and we have already had our main holiday which we enjoyed at the end of June anticipating almost guaranteed sunshine and generous temperatures. • 20. The Cost Of Employees For Teleworking Majority of employees decide for teleworking mainly because of several benefits teleworking is offering. The first advantage is harmony of work and personal life. Employees have more free time they can spend with their children and family. Next advantage means higher flexibility as teleworkers may often chose the working hours and take the advantage for themselves. This allows them to choose the hours during which they are the most productive. Furthermore, teleworkers decreased everyday commutingto work saving their time, additional costs for travelling as well as stress (Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). In addition, not only employees benefit from teleworking. Company profits from teleworkers as well. Late research of the British Broadcasting Corporation showed savings of approximately 25 per cent. These savings are the results of decrease of bills in office space including heating, electricity (Loughran, 1998 as quoted in Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). Implications for increased productivity, loyalty and overall quality of work have been found among teleworkers (Baruch, 2000). However, teleworking is accompanied by a range of negatives too. The most common of them is social segregation. An analysis from 1983 showed that 60 per cent of teleworkers in Great Britain considered social segregation to be the greatest drawback of teleworking (Huws, 1984 as quoted in Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). ( John Brown ) John Brown, known for his actions prior to the Civil War, spoke these words, and they truly show who he is. Brown, born on May 9, 1800, in Torrington, Connecticut, fought for everything he believed was right all the way up until his death in 1859. He was known mostly as an abolitionist and a freedom fighter, constantly trying to liberate slavery. John Browns actions would lead him to having a role in Bleeding Kansas, as well as Harper s Ferry. John Brown was born in Connecticut and was the fourth child of Owen Brown. Growing up, he would go to church with his family, but would later leave at the age of sixteen to Morris Academy to become a minister. He had to leave the college and return to his family to work in his father s tannery due to eye inflammations. Finally, in 1836, John Brown finally settled down in Ohio with his second wife and lived a normal life. He then moved once again to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he would vow after the murder of a man named Elijah Lovejoy, Here, before God, in the presence of these witnesses, from this time, I consecrate my life to the destruction of slavery! Almost everywhere one looks, one can find forms of media; a magazine at a doctor s office, a billboard alongside a freeway, a painting at an art gallery, a performance on television or on stage. Media, undeniably, is ubiquitous. However, in all the innumerous forms mediacomes to us in, every one of these forms is created for a single purpose; to communicate an idea or message. Hoechsmann Poyntz furthers Buckingham s argument by eloquently writing, Rather than being positioned as victims, a focus on media... addresses the complex ways youths become agents in their life and the lives of others (Hoechsmann Poyntz, 2012, p. 109). Indeed, because the singular purpose of media is to convey an idea or a message to the masses, media must have an audience; which is to say a group who consumes it. Further, because of its omnipresence in US culture, media will certainly almost always have an audience; for anyone who is exposed to media may be considered part of its audience; whether they consciously acknowledge their participation or not. Consequently, through a variety of forms, such as access to television and the internet, children today are exposed to media from a very early age. Assuredly, as Buckingham suggests, starting from a young age of even four or five, children have already started interacting with media (Buckingham, 2004, p. 41 45). Subsequently, children, from a very early age, most certainly, are members of the media s audience. However, the central question presented here is whether children should be forced to remain a passive consumer or be encouraged to become an audience s active participant. Most assuredly, ... I also identify with Colin Powell s seventeenth principle, Have fun in your command. Don t always run at a breakneck pace. Take leave when you ve earned it: Spend time with your families. I approve or disapprove rations requests for all the Indiana Army National Guard units and submit their requests to the state approved contracted vendor. The State Food Service SOP specifies the timelines for ration requests when using the Army Food Management System (AFMIS). If a unit does not meet the time requirements for our state vendor, then I will disapprove the request. I will give the unit limited choices for other types of rations, usually Tailored Operational Training Rations (TOTM), similar to MRE s. This may result in readers rejecting the character and concluding that Bateman does not deserve/worthy of the position in society he desires to achieve. This plays a significant part in how to read the novel because it demonstrates the obsession of acknowledgement and the measurements individuals are prepared to carry out. First, the ransom note was found in the kitchen where Patsy went first thing every morning to fix herself a cup of coffee. How would a killer know this is where she would be going to first? Second, the ransom note was written on a notepad the Ramseys had in their house along with using a pen they had as well. Personally I believe that the time is not in favor of WorldCom in undertaking one of the largest bond issues at the time. Even though there are many advantages with proceeding with the issue, I believe that the degree and the uncertainty raised by some of the disadvantages outweigh the advantages of going ahead with the $6Billion bond. In the table below are reflected both the advantages and disadvantages of proceeding with the bond. AdvantagesDisadvantage 1.MCI Merger, which would be financed by the issue, boosted investor interest and awareness in the company.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this is not the case with WorldCom, as the company apparently has good reputation and can get the required financing through loans. However, with bonds there is less flexibility to resolve any future issues and there is always the pricing risk, but one pro of a bond is that there is no periodical principal payment. The major challenge of any bond issue is the uncertainty, i.e. the fact that companies cannot predict how markets will react to the issue. Moreover, the volatility of the fixed income markets is a factor to be accounted for as well as how the credit risk rating of the Company will be perceived and accepted by the investors. Another major uncertainty is the bid to ask ratio. A potential major uncertainty, which is not present in the case of WorldCom but presently has become an uncertainty in some markets, is the country risk premium. If the operations are in a country that has a non stable political or sovereign state the volatility of the country risk premium could be a major uncertainty that an issuer could face. 4.ESTIMATE THE EXPECTED BORROWING COST (I.E. COUPON) THAT WORLDCOM WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR 3, 5, 7 AND 30 YEAR NOTES? WHY ARE BONDS PRICED IN THIS MANNER? Provided the data on the corporate bonds in Exhibit 9, the estimated coupon of ... • 43. The Sustainability Website, And There Are Some Positive... I have recently reviewed the UMass sustainability website, and there is some positive things that I have seen. There are also some things that could be improved upon. I will be discussing a number of different issues regarding communication of sustainability, and how UMass appears to be approaching those issues, as well as ways to improve our initiative. To begin with I would like to state that there is a difference between the dominant and ecological paradigm in the context of the sustainability initiative. The dominate paradigm is what values in a society that are most standard and widely held. Dominant paradigms are shaped both by the community s cultural background. The ecological paradigm sees the current dominant paradigm as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If what they say in their first statement is true, this is a good step. Exploring and communicating ways to improve upon our communities practices, ideas, and technologies would fall into the new ecological paradigm. It would be an attempted to shift away from the dominant unsustainable paradigm. The next point mentioned in the mission statement is We educate the campus community to create a healthier and more responsible environment . Education of a community is how a paradigm shift will happen. Education about what is unsustainable, why being unsustainable is harmful, and how to become more sustainable is absolutely vital in order to shift a community s thoughts, ideas, and behaviors. Next the mission statement says that We develop progressive solutions to reduce negative environmental impacts in ways that are economically beneficial . Solutions to reduce negative environmental impacts are what is needed in order to change from unsustainable to sustainable. Understanding problems won t help unless solutions to those problems are known. Lastly, the mission statement says that We create and consistently advocate for a diverse inclusive culture of sustainability throughout the campus community and beyond . By trying to create and advocate a culture of sustainability, they are also trying to shift the paradigms from the dominate to ecological. • 44. Hitler s Mistakes In The Battle Of Dunkirk Throughout Hitler s reign over Germany, he made several major mistakes. His first major mistake was his inability to quickly annihilate Britain in the battle of Dunkirk, whom ultimately contributed to the German defeat. The battle of Dunkirk took place during the summer of 1940, beginning May 26th to June 4th. At this point, Germanyhad Britain, France, and Poland surrounded, but Hitler did not order his troops to engage because he wanted to please a potential ally, the Russians. Stalin (Russian leader) did not trust Hitler and was prepared in advance for war with Germany. Hitler always kept in mind that he would eventually attack Russia, which he did later on in the war. So, by having Russia on his side, he would not only have the biggest country in the world at his fingertips but it would be easier to eventually take it over. In order to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This battle took place from June 22 to December 5, 1941 and demonstrates how Germany broke their pact with Russia. This opened up the Eastern front, meaning the German s would have to fight on two fronts instead of one. Hitler made an mistake attacking Russia in the first place, but to make it worse, he gave Stalin enough time to build his defences during Hitler s decision to not eliminate the British during the battle of Dunkirk. His strategy of invading Russia was over before the two forces even fought. There was no reason for the pact between Germany and Russia to break as Russia was not a threat to Germany at this point. Hitler s greedy, anti communist views overpowered him when he realized he had conquered most of Europe. Hitler did not think that the other democratic countries would side with Russia. He rushed his plans and it resulted in a defeat. He would have ultimately been better off breaking the pact when he conquered the other empires who were more of a threat to the Germans first. This is another example of how unqualified Hitler was as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In one particular scene, we see Estrella playing with one a naked doll. Estrella asks the naked doll if she was okay and then shook the doll s head No . This conversation with the doll can be seen as the sense of denial that takes place in a child s mind that is not allowed to openly express herself, her fears, her anxieties, and her hopes. She allows the doll to represent her honest feelings about the lifestyle of living she is placed in. She is a unique and interesting individual, who will not grow up to be knocked down by economic issues, difficult labor, and especially men. She is being raised in a world where women are expected to suffer silently and to be at the mercy of their men. However, men were not expected to return this slave like behavior for the women. This setting of the novel allows the reader to see exactly how treacherous life can be. This suffering is so present in Estrella s family s lives, yet she somehow is able to bring the family along no matter how difficult the situation may be. She is still trapped in between two very different worlds: She tried to remember which side she was on and which side of the wire mesh she was safe in (59). Her mother may be taken over by a world of suffering, but she is not so beaten that she cannot pass some of her fighting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Western countries have feared that Iran wants to acquire the atomic bomb since they have discovered its nuclear program in 2003. From that moment Iran has been considered as a real threat by the USA. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Radiation and chemotherapy may only partially penetrate a tumor; remaining malignant tissue will allow the cancer to reoccur within the patient. Incomplete tumor removal is a risk associated with surgical removal of cancerous tissue.3 Additionally, studies have shown that radiation promotes cancerous cell growth. Radiation promotes a cellular process known as autophagy, which supports metabolic functions while a cell is living with some sort of environmental stress. Typically, the cell will degrade longstanding organelles and proteins to recycle the molecular units of macromolecules. This becomes an alternate source of nutrients during cell survival. Within a premalignant cell, autophagy will prevent a cell from replicating if it is cancerous. Once the cell has become malignant, it is living under environmentally stress induced by hypoxia and nutrient depletion. Malignant cells are dependent of autophagy for survival, and radiation promotes autophagy; this, radiation promotes cancer.4 Current cancer treatments have high risks of harsh side effects and a high probability of reoccurring cancer. There is an urgent need for new anticancer therapies; compounds derived from the natural products of bacteria and fungi have been investigated as a possible solution. Mortgage loans come in two basic categories, fixed rate and adjustable rate; but within these two categories, there are several other possible loan types that many consumers mistakenly don t take the proper time to educate themselves about. In this article, we will be addressing fixed rate loans. Most people know what the terms of a fixed rate mortgage entails; basically, the interest rate remains stable over the life of the loan. The payment on this loan for a 30 year, fixed rate loan would be $536.82 per month. Generally, the shorter the term the lower the rate, so the payment for the same $100,000 loan on a 15 year, fixed rate at an interest rate of 4.75% would be $777.83 per month or $241.01 higher than the 30 year loan. Some people that can afford the 15 year rate might opt to pay the extra $241.01 and pay off their mortgage in half the time, the only problem with this is once you sign up for the 15 year term you must make this payment each and every month. If the extra $241.01 becomes difficult to make no matter what the reason, the only way to reduce the payment is to refinance the property. However, knowing this loan has no prepayment penalty in part means if you opt for the lower, 30 year payment, you are still free to pay the extra $241.01 every month if you can afford it. Even at the higher rate of 5%, if you paid the $777.83 each month, the 30 year loan would be paid off in full in 15 years and 5 months. However, if at anytime you couldn t afford the extra $241.01, there would be no penalty and you could avoid the cost of refinancing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
