Operation Safehouse Research Paper
Operation SafeHouse, a non profit organization, was founded in 1991 by Amy Harrison in the
Riverside County. The basis of Operation SafeHouse is to aid teens in crisis. The SafeHouse runs a 24
hour, 7 days a week emergency shelter for youth and families in need. Many parents turn to Operation
SafeHouse when they believe their children are going down the wrong path and have nowhere else to
turn. Throughout the process, the parents and their child are involved with a marriage and family
therapist to indicate stress levels and help resolve issues going on in the home. The teenager (ages 11
17) is placed in a 21 day program, called the Emergency Shelter Program. Both are available in
Riverside and Coachella Valley. Teens share bedrooms with other teens in the program and participate
in chores and counseling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Racism and The Latino Community
In this world we are constantly being categorized by our race and ethnicity, and for many people it s
hard to look beyond that. Even though in the past many stood up for equality and to stop racism and
discrimination, it still occurs. In this nation of freedom and equality, there are still many people who
believe that their race is superior to others. These beliefs are the ones that destroy our nation and affect
the lives of many. The people affected are not limited by their age group, sex, social status, or by their
education level. Their beliefs can cause them to attack other groups verbally or in silence and even
reaching to the point of violence. All of this occurs because we can t be seen as a people , but rather

These racist groups take advantage especially of the illegal Latino population in doing these things,
because they believe they have no rights due to their illegal status here in the United States. Also these
groups know that many of these Hispanics will not go to police to report these incidents of
discrimination and abuse, because they are fearful that in doing so they might get deported. They also
discriminate the legal Latinos, because in their eyes they are the same as the illegal ones. The article
also portrays the horrific actions of discrimination racist extremist do against Latinos. Eviatar reports
the examples of the abuse by stating, a young mother was arrested and jailed when she asked to be
paid for her work in a Tennessee cheese factory; a migrant bean picker whose life savings were
confiscated by police during a traffic stop, and a rapist in Georgia going unpunished because his 13
year old victim is undocumented (par 3). The hate they feel towards this minority group, cause them to
commit acts that are unjustifiable. They inflict pain and psychological suffering to Hispanics. This
behavior is the cause racism, that as you see can harm to other ethnicities at a great level. Racialism
also comes to play in this case, because these groups believe that they are biologically superior to
Hispanics and other ethnicities and races as well. Our race does not make us superior to others, yet
they still believe in that it does. Enculturation

The French and Indian War Essay
The French and Indian War was a conflict in North America in which Great Britain fought France and
their Native American allies. It lasted from 1756 until 1763, so it was also known as the Seven Years
War. At the peace conference in 1763, the British received Canada from France and Florida from
Spain, but permitted France to keep its West Indian sugar islands and gave Louisiana to Spain. The
treaty strengthened the American colonies significantly by removing their European rivals to the north
and south and opening the Mississippi Valley to westward expansion. The war began as disputes over
land between British colonists, officials, and the Iroquois Confederacy who were against the French
and their Native American allies. The Iroquois ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In July 1758, the British won their first major victory at Louisbourg, near the mouth of the St.
Lawrence River. Within a month, they took Fort Frontenac at the western end of the river. Then they
arrived at Quebec, where General James Wolfe won another important victory in the Plains of
Abraham in September 1759. However, both he and the French commander, the Marquis de
Montcalm, died soon after the battle. When the British captured Montreal in September 1760, the
French lost their last foothold in Canada. Soon, Spain decided to help France fight against England,
and throughout the rest of the war Britain focused on capturing French and Spanish territories in other
places throughout the world. The cost of funding the war was so massive that the ensuing debt nearly
destroyed the British government. This debt caused most of the grievances between the British and the
colonists, eventually leading to the Revolutionary War.
This resource loss had a massive impact on Britain. The outcome of the war never truly made up for
the resources the British had to use to win, so they had to find another way to make up for the lost
funds. This was achieved by taxing the colonies on many types of goods. The first thing Britain
wanted to do was stop illegal smuggling. They attempted to do this through the Sugar Act. The Sugar
Act, created by George Grenville, actually lowered the tax on

The Demon Lover, An Analysis Essay
In The Demon Lover, by Elizabeth Bowen, Kathleen Drover returns to London from her house in the
country in order to gather some things that she and her husband had abandoned during the bombings
of the war. It is a humid, rainy day in late August and her once familiar street is now mostly deserted.
The caretaker of her house is supposed to be out of town for a week and her arrival is assumed
unknown. Mrs. Drover enters the old musty house and discovers a letter addressed to herself and it is
marked with the present date. Curious to know if the caretaker is back in town and a little annoyed by
the letter seeming to have no urgency in being mailed to her, she proceeds upstairs to her old bedroom

her, not in love. A couple months after he left for war he was reported missing and presumed dead. At

wants his fianc #233; to keep her promise. Bowen may have chosen to give her the last name of
Drover, because a drover is someone who herds animals to market and it seems as though her fate will
meet the same demise as the demon takes her away. Mrs. Drovers internal conflict occurred when she
did not come through on the promise that she made and now, it seem she can not even recall what the
promise was. She is faced with an external conflict as well because she will no longer have her family.
She is in the hands of a demon. The third person objective point of view forces the reader to conclude
for themself what is really happening. We can not hear her thoughts so it is impossible to know if she
really remembers this so called promise. The two main elements that really work together to make this
story felt by the reader are setting and language. The excellent use of literal imagery evokes the
readers senses and sends a chilling feeling of suspense and terror down the spine, thus, creating the
perfect setting. A sense of uneasiness is created

Executive Summary
This report examines 3 different compensation systems that our company can develop and enforce
within our company for our employees. Compensation is the most important and rewarding factor for
employees, so a thorough and thoughtful approach should be taken as we think about changing the
way in which this company rewards it s employees for the work they do for us each and every day.

An understanding of the different methods is necessary in order to be profitable and to inspire quality
production.
Research Findings
From extensive research, using a variety of relevant and credible resources, there are three
compensation systems that should be considered:
Performance Based Pay
Salary
Longevity Pay
1 Performance Based Pay
A Performance Based Pay system is an increasingly popular compensation method used by
organizations to increase productivity. A goal for all companies is to try and remain competitive and
control costs, this is a reason for performance based pay systems becoming more popular. This type of
system attempts to link compensation to performance. (Gena Richter, 2002) These systems are directly
tied to organization or individual performance and are most effective when based on objective
measures of quantity or quality of performance. If we wish to have a direct impact on work
motivation, it must be linked directly to the performance of desired behaviors. In order for to put this
type of system into place, performance evaluations must be conducted regularly , as well as training
and development for those with performance that isn t quite up to par. These additional resources will
be necessary for our organization if we implement a performance based pay system. (William B.
Bernathy, Ph. D., 2004)
Pay for performance compensation plans are widely

Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two...
In a world which is only now beginning to emerge from the shackles of colonialism, both former
empires and the nations once subdued by their hegemony have entered a transitional period defined by
uncertainty and the loss of collective identity. Compounding matters is the delicate balance that
expatriates from former colonies turned independent countries, such as Pakistan, India, and Hong
Kong, must seek to achieve while residing in the former motherland of Great Britain. For the most
ambitious and hopeful immigrants, the arduous process of assimilation from pre colonial society to the
very seat of imperial power which once exercised dominion over your homeland from afar can be a
jarring metamorphosis. Two exquisitely written short stories published during the tumultuous
postcolonial period of the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy
Tan s Two Kinds, harness the provocative power of prose to explore the quintessentially modern
cultural theme of dual and transitional identity. By juxtaposing the paternal expectation of father
Parvez with the harsh reality his militarized, extremist son Ali, Kureishi exposes the fallacious notion
of the British dream offered to immigrants from former colonies around the world. Through her
wrenching tale of the divisions sewn between Chinese mothers, who lived through the Communist
Cultural Revolution, and their Americanized daughters struggling to bear the burden of competing
customs, Tan examines the

Installing A Office Surveillance System
Due to the rapid advancement in technology especially in the security industry, there is a huge surge in
the numbers of company surveillance of the employees and different ways of supervision have been
established. Many companies have installed security cameras in the workplace and have access to the
browsing history and emails of workers. However, there has been an uproar among the workers lately
as they are more exposed to social media and news from different places. More and more cases of
employers overextending their power and control of workers private lives can be seen all over the
United States. For example, according to the president of Teamsters Local 804, Tim Sylvester, the
metrics based assault of workers is not anything strange (Bruder, 2015). Indeed, it is not beneficial to a
company to install office surveillance system because it raises privacy concerns among the workers,
causes mistrust between employees and employers, and reduces organizational commitment. It is
argued by some that installing surveillance system in the workplace is advantageous to the company
because the companies need to protect their company assets and trade secrets. This is because
electronic surveillance prevents any intrusion, hacking or negative attempts to their computer systems.
Indeed, Ball (2010) contends that they want to protect corporate interests and trade secrets. Email,
Internet monitoring and information access control are all deployed against risks of defamation,

Models of Children s
What makes a child, a child goes hand in hand with the different models of childhood. Two out of the
many models I chose to go in depth with are the Sacred Child, and the Romantic Child. There s a
distinction between the two models, however sharing the commonality of innocence. The Romantic
Child is the idea that children should have the freedom to play, the love for childhood, to explore, and
to imagine. They are bound to face some disappointment along their journey into adulthood. Theres
the idea that children see what adults can t. As for the Sacred Child, the child is viewed as precious
and admired. So precious they are in need of protection. The idea that the children learn not to be risk
takers, a sense of forgetfulness when it comes to problem solving. The ... Show more content on

My Hair and I Essay
My Hair and I
At some point in a woman s life, she is, if like most women, unhappy with her hair. A woman with
straight hair wishes for curly ringlets. A woman with curly hair wants stick straight locks. Thick and
coarse desires to be fine and thinner. Fine and thin begs for thick hair.
I was one of those women. My hair has an energy, personality, and life of her own. I refer to my hair
as she because, although by technical definition my hair is not a separate living being, and although I
have no proof of her life to show others, I know that she not only grows and reproduces (two
characteristics by which many measure life), but she responds to stimuli, shows emotions, and can
reason.

Don t ask what business an Indian girl with my hair had getting a white American pageboy do. It was
wrong, I realize that now. But I remember after getting that cut, my hair began to freely express her
emotions and moods. It was like she had woken from a long, deep slumber. Maybe it was the shorter
length, maybe it was a natural development phase. It s not clear why she chose to stage her debut at
that point. But one thing was clear, she was not going to do whatever I wanted her to.
When I was 13, I decided to grow out my pageboy style. This decision was not difficult (but
unfortunately for me, not timely). I decided this after looking at my seventh grade yearbook picture. I
was smiling into the camera. My hair was pointing in five different directions from my head,
screaming I wanna be a star!!
Naturally, during adolescence, I decided to test my independence, forge new boundaries, and find my
personality. My hair was no different.
Our morning routine was usually the showdown. Every morning, I trudged to the bathroom, still
wiping the sleep from my eyes, vaguely aware of the struggle ahead of me. There, in the reflection of
the mirror, my head would still be wearing yesterday s styling havoc. My hair would look back at me
with a wide grin, while dancing a jig on top of my head, and say, What are we gonna do today?!?
No! I would whine, jabbing a brush indiscriminately into the tangled

Nozick s View On Liberty
Liberty is a concept that has many differently meanings. Throughout human history, there has been a
constant back and forth from those who lack liberties that others are given without second thought. It
is clear when analyzing liberty movements such as the American and French Revolution, abolition,
and civil rights that most everyone desires certain liberties. While liberty may not have a single
definition, most people can agree that it is something that should be given to those who wish to live
harmoniously in a society. I agree with Rawls s view on liberty because without cooperation and
division of resources amongst citizens, the liberty that everyone hopes to reach cannot be attained.

Nozick s entitlement theory, a person who acquires a holding in accordance with the principle of
justice in acquisition is entitled to that holding. While I believe that everyone should have the right to
live comfortably, I also think that we should share our excesses with those who are not able to fulfil
their needs. Nevertheless, I believe that humans as an entity are more likely to agree with Nozick s
view, and I see how it could be better implemented into a preexisting society, whereas Rawls s concept
almost needs a complete blank slate to be fully implemented in the purest way possible. While Rawls
argues that, the idea of an overlapping consensus is introduced to make the idea of a well ordered
society more realistic and to adjust it to the historical and social conditions of democratic societies, I
believe that the conflicting religious, philosophical, and moral views held collectively by people vary
too much to implement Rawls s ideas in an effective way. Rawls definitely predicted this criticism, as
he justifies that through opposing religious, philosophical, and moral doctrines that gain a significant
body of adherents and endure over time from one generation to the next. If this was truly the case,
then sign me up for Rawls s plan, but even Rawls himself admits that, no such

Essay about Benefits and Drawbacks of Legalizing Marijuana
Compared with harder drugs as cocaine and heroin, marijuana, also named as cannabis or hemp, is
considered as a soft drug with less addiction and harm. In the 19th century, it was one of the most
important crops in the American continent to the common wealth (Newton, 2013, p.32), but it has
been banned to grow in most countries since the 20th century (Newton, 2013, p.45). Given the
clamour for decriminalization of the personal possession of small amounts of marijuana is growing
(Single, 2013, p.456) and the problem of pushing drugs is exacerbated in sight, the proposal of
legalizing this illicit drug has been disputed among the governments. This essay tries to weigh up the

231). Nevertheless, according to the quantity and purpose of these activities, most of the state
governments have convinced that it is reasonable to adjudicate them differently (Ibid). If personal use
of marijuana is legalized due to its harmlessness to the public, users may prefer to legally obtain
marijuana from the authorized shops and enterprises instead of committing crimes for obtaining drugs.
With the guidance from the government, the social and individual security will be guaranteed and the
crime rate can be correspondently lowered.
However, from another perspective, legalizing marijuana is unfavorable and unacceptable. Studies
have proved that there is intimate relationship between the occurrence of some diseases and the use of
marijuana. Tashkin (2005,p.93) has pointed out that Marijuana use is associated with the respiratory
and mental illness and is harmful to the cognitive and immune system. Additionally, using marijuana
increases the risk of lung cancer (Hashibe et al., 2006, p.1830). Researches have manifested that the
number of marijuana smokers suffering from the tortures of cough and sputum is larger than those of
non smokers for the reason that marijuana users usually smoke the mixture of marijuana and some
hard drugs harmful to people s lungs. It has been estimated that the consumption of marijuana will

The Murder Of The Murdered Or Suicide Victims
Rationale:
Over the years I have been consistently watching the TV show Bones . In this TV show the main
protagonist is a forensic anthropologist..... Most of the TV shows I have watched over the years have
always had a forensic scientist, or forensic anthropologist. It has always been fascinating how the
forensic analysts could deduce the exact time when a person was murdered to the correct hour and
most times to the correct minute. In each of these TV shows there were three main ways on how the
protagonists determined the time of death of the murdered or suicide victims. The three ways were
rigor mortis, algor mortis, and entomology. Using these methods they had conclusive results on how
the person was murdered and when the person was murdered.
Introduction:
Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws. Forensic scientists collect,
preserve, and analyses scientific evidence during the course of an investigation. It is used in multiple
scenarios regarding criminal cases, but in the following investigation it will be used to determine the
time of death of people. There are three major methods of determining the time of death of the
deceased: Forensic Entomology, Algor Mortis, and Rigor Mortis.
Forensic entomology is used when forensic entomologists study the bugs found on the deceased to
estimate the time of death. Algor mortis is the change in body temperature following death. This is
generally a steady decline until matching the

Treatment Of Women In Trifles
In the play, Trifles, women are not treated as well as the men. The play is about a woman who killed
her husband because he killed her bird. An exploration of the play reveals a fundamental difference
between the women s actions and the men s, a difference grounded in varying understandings of the
home space. (Holstein) The place is then looked over by the officers to find out if she really did kill
her husband, but the officers find nothing because the wives of the officers hide the dead bird from
them. They did not have all the same rights as the men back in the day. Susan Glaspell depicts the
marriage between men and women as men being upper class and telling the women what to do, and
the women as almost slaves, forced to do what their husbands tell them to do. The women in the play,
Trifles, were treated like second class citizens. They are many examples of this like when the officers
tell the wives to stay behind, the officers do not investigate the women because they do not think they
could be involved or know anything, and the women were described by how their husbands were. ...

The officers do not want the women to be involved in the investigation and they do not want them to
get in the way, even though the women played a bigger role than the men. If the officers would have
let the women help in the case, then all the evidence that the women found could have been used. The
officers were looking at the main scene and all the bigger stuff, but they needed to look at the smaller
things to find the evidence they needed to convict Mrs. Wright. The officers do not let the women use
their full potential. The potential that is being crushed in Trifles is definitely that of women, a theme
which becomes even more prominent in her 1917 short story version of the play, entitled A Jury of Her
Peers. (Grose) The author uses more than one play to distinguish how badly women are

While the women in the church have an organized discipleship effort happening, there is not a
concerted effort to grow men into faithful followers of Jesus Christ. The men of the church need a
program where discipleship happens intentionally. The scripture that First Baptist Church uses for it s
vision is Matthew 5:13. The City on a Hill theme comes for this verse. The idea is that we should be
salt and light to the world so that others will know Him through us. People are not committed
followers of Christ just because they study the Bible. That is only part of the process. The Great
Commission tells us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey (Matthew 28:16). The
Great Commandment tells us to love God and others. (Matthew 22). The New Commandment in John
tells us to love one another (John 13:34 35). The church needs to be able to forge relationship so that
they in turn can reproduce more Christians. The commitment level in the Sunday School ministries is
strong at First Baptist. About 60 percent of the Sunday morning worship is also in Sunday School.
Sunday School tends to be strictly educational in nature. The groups do take care of each other in most
cases. However, mentoring and further discipleship is not happening. The participation in other
discipleship programs is much smaller. As stated earlier, the groups that are meeting outside of Sunday
School are

My Fried Baked Chicken
It was a day like any other. My husband was at work; and I was standing stagnantly in my kitchen,
gazing dreadfully at uncooked chicken wings and unbleached flour. My ideal meal arrangement
included fried chicken wings accompanied with Kraft s famous macaroni with cheese. Comparable to
any story the dilemma posed itself, when I noticed that there was no vegetable oil to fry with.
Moreover, I was still fixated on fried chicken. I customarily am the description of the term strong
headed , and having faith, I commenced a search for a new method of creating a chicken masterpiece.
Consequently, I began to ponder for the first time in my life, why vegetable oil (or any oil) was
essential to preparing fried chicken, and if I really needed it or not. I had been so accustomed to the
cliché preparation of fried chicken. I knew that this idea was going to cause me to gain a new
perspective, even think out side the chicken box to achieve the same results as fried chicken from
baking it instead. In my opinion, cooking oil is only a prerequisite concerning any fried food method
for two grand reasons: to prevent the food from sticking to a pan or pot, and lastly so that the food will
not burn from sticking to the pot or pan. Thus I charged myself with the intent to redefine fried
chicken. I questioned, did it need to be fried in oil to be considered fried? What did the term fry even
mean? After conscientiously researching why oil is needed to fry foods I accumulated a list of pros

The Pros And Cons Of Soda Ban
1Why has there been so much fuss about New York City s attempt to impose a soda ban,1 or more
precisely, a ban on large size sugary drinks ? After all, people can still get as much soda as they want.
This isn t Prohibition. It s just that getting it would take slightly more effort. So, why is this such a big
deal?
1 soda ban
In 2013, New York City passed a law prohibiting soda containers larger than 16 ounces in volume.
The New York State Court of Appeals later overturned the law.

decisions we need to in order to create a good life. Give us complete liberty, and, barring natural

Ex-Metallica Bassist Research Paper
Ex Metallica Bassist Jason Newsome Covers Country Songs and It s Amazing
Normally, when you think of Metallica, you think of the heavy metal sound the band is famous for.
But, if you think that s the only kind of music the band members, and former band members, enjoy
making, you are sorely mistaken.
In fact, ex Metallica Bassist Jason Newsome recently spent time on The Drive with Steve Jaxon radio
show playing some country tunes. The set includes music from John Prine, Doug Seegers and Willie
Nelson. He s also brought along his new band, the Chophouse Band, to perform with him. The
resulting performances are nothing short of amazing.

A Risk Assessment Strategy For A Chemical Suicide
Background:
Before January 2008, industrial accidents were the main cause of Hydrogen Sulfide poisonings in
Japan. Since then, the use of this gas in chemical or detergent suicides increased exponentially, over
2,000 such suicides have been reported in Japan. This trend was next encountered by first responders
in America, with 3 cases reported in 2008, 9 in 2009 and over 30 incidents in 2010 (Morii et al.,
2010).
The new trend was shared via internet message boards. Dependant of the mixture of common
household ingredients such as bath salts and toilet detergent, either Hydrogen Sulfide or Hydrogen
Cyanide gas will be produced. Suicide is often performed in a confined space in order to trap the
resulting gas. Enclosed spaces such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Who was at Risk?
Members of the public: Due to the time the incident occurred, no one had encountered the vehicle.
The first responder: The Police Officer was evaluated by the Fire Department s medical unit. He had
maintained a safe distance from the vehicle and subsequently not been exposed to lethal
concentrations of the gas. By making careful observations, he observed the pungent odour, the written
warnings and the individual slumped driver s seat. By requesting the Fire Department, he recognised

Silver Lininging Short Story
Silver Lining I remember those days like they were just last week. Who would ve known how
important having a job for your family was? Who would ve known how much impact could be made
when someone lost their job? I certainly didn t. You never realize how important something is until
you lose it. My family depended on that job. Once it was gone, it felt as if our life was being thrown
away. Where are we going to go now? No one knew, but we had to think of a plan quickly, before we

couldn t be good if my mom had a gloomy look on her face. I became worried for us. Was everything
okay? Were we going to be okay? I wish I knew what being laid off meant, but I was three, I couldn t
understand.
Days went by, and my mom explained to me what was happening.
Your dad isn t working anymore. We re going to have to leave this house. We can t pay for it any

My mom ran a foster care service, so she wasn t going to be able to pay for the house herself. What
did that mean for us? Where are we staying? Where was our puppy coming with us?
Everything became so depressing. The happiness in the family was gone. My parents didn t want to be

Success at the Graduate Level Essay
Success at the Graduate Level COM 505 June 11, 2012 Preparing for Success at the Graduate Level
Preparing for academic success at the graduate level can be a daunting task. First, one must realize the
reason they are in a graduate program to begin with. What goals do you hope to achieve in completing
a graduate program? The reasons can be many such as better job opportunities, higher income, or
perhaps just for the prestige of earning a graduate degree. Other reasons could include setting a good
example for that of your children or gaining the respect of family and friends. Regardless of the
reason, once the decision is made to start a graduate program there must be a goal established in order

Make a plan for working on each assignment and avoid procrastination. Procrastination is one of the
biggest challenges for any student. It is easy to put off an assignment until the last minute only to turn
in work that is not to the best of your ability because you were rushed. It is best to plan out certain
times throughout the day that can be used to get required reading or research complete. You can get
more accomplished throughout the week if you take it a little at a time. Consistency will yield more
results than trying to get all of an assignment complete at the last minute. The student can also prepare
all the materials needed for an assignment in advance. It is much easier to complete an assignment if
you have all the required resources readily available ahead of time. There is an enormous difference
between undergraduate classes and classes taken in a graduate degree plan. Student s that are in an
undergraduate degree plan are expected to summarize material that is researched or given to them for
a paper. According to Lavelle and Bushrow (2007), the increased writing demands of courses at the
graduate level, including greater emphasis on depth and breadth, demand for genre competence, and
often expectation for publication, merely reporting or summarizing are insufficient (Lavelle amp;
Bushrow, 2007). The graduate student must expand their writing skills

The nurse, Joel, measures Nick s height, weight and vital signs. Joel notices that his weight is only
around the 25th percentile for his age. After a brief screening with Joel, Dr. Mike Leonard, the
pediatrician, enters the room for the appointment. He greets the family cheerfully and asks how Nick
is doing. Mr. and Mrs. Smith express concern. Nick has been finicky about eating since the last
appointment and does not seem to have gained much weight. In addition to that, Nick is frequently
cranky and no longer likes being picked up and held. He has also been displaying less activity lately.
He just doesn t seem to have the energy. He is not the sweet, sociable, enthusiastic child they are used
to. The doctor comments that he had noticed that Nick did not seem as alert and cheerful as he had on
previous visits. The parents are especially distressed that Nick has still not yet begun to crawl at an
age when many children are already walking. The doctor examines Nick. The child s skin appears
pale. Dr. Leonard discovers a small lump on Nick s abdomen. Nick does not appear distressed when
the doctor examines the lump. He also tests Nick s reflexes and motor coordination. They are not as

Canadian Water Debate
Water Debate
Selling our water will be beneficial to Canadians because it will create new jobs and help out the
economy, we could have Canada trade its water for other natural resources instead of just selling it.
With Canada having 20% of the world s fresh water and 9% of the world s renewable fresh water
means that we will have enough to sell and trade with other countries and to keep for our own.
Canadians waste a lot of water mainly by flushing the toilet takes up 30% of the water, bathing 35%,
20% drinking and 10% cooking. Canadians could easily cut down on water by enforcing laws to
making water more expensive or even cutting down the time they use the water. Around the world 1.4
Billion people are lacking clean drinking water with Canada s population being just around 35 million.
Each year seven million from all around the world die year from diseases linked to unsanitary water
and the problem is getting worse each year.
Other countries that are in need of water will come after Canada first because Canadians have a lot of
water with low population making it an easy target for them to attack for water.
If Canadians sold water to other countries it would prevent future wars from happening and people
dying from diseases.

An Experiment for Staying Healthy with the Food We Eat
Introduction The issue of health, and proper eating habits has been a growing trend in recent years,
with the introduction of many chemicals and additives in the foods people eat. It is important to know
what nutrients and vitamins are being put inside the body. As of December 12, 2007 it is mandatory
for all prepackaged foods in Canada to be labeled with the Nutrition Facts, a summary of what is in
the food. This includes the Calorie count, the 13 core nutrients with the % Daily value of those
nutrients and, the full ingredients list. Similarly, this lab seeks to identify the major macromolecules
present in an unknown solution, the same process that food scientist go through in the lab, when
making the Nutrition Facts summary. The four main molecules that we will be testing for are
monosaccharides, starches, proteins and lipids. It is because the purpose of the lab is to test for
multiple macromolecules that the inquiry and testing process will be split into four independent tests
for the presence of each respective molecule. Testing for monosaccharides with Benedicts reagent will

Finite Element Analysis of Out of plane Compressive Properties of a Honeycomb Structures with
Hexagonal topology
Abstract This work illustrates the manufacturing of the honeycomb hexagonal topology structures by
the kirigami technical, and the compressive testing of this specimen. The cellular configuration is
simulated using a series of finite element models representing fullscale. The models are benchmarked
against experimental results from pure compression tests. Finite element models of the honeycomb
assemblies under compressive loading have been developed using nonlinear shell elements from an
ANSYS code. Good agreement is observed between numerical nonlinear simulations and the
experimental results.
Keywords: FEA, Honeycombs, cellular, flatwise; Hexagonal topology
.
I. INTRODUCTION Honeycomb out of plane compressive properties are of interest for many
researchers because they are important for the mechanical performance of sandwich panels, such as
local compression and impact resistance. Bouakba et al [1] proposed a novel type Voronoi lattice and
study this honeycomb by FEA on in plane mechanical properties using the ANSYS code. This work
described a continued study of the out of plan mechanical properties. The compressive properties for
this novel type Voronoi lattice have been simulated using a full scale representation of the honeycomb
panels under compression loading. The experimental evaluations on the novel honeycomb
compressive properties are implemented

Poverty Between Rich And Poor Countries
Countries of the world can clearly be divided into rich and poor. These rich and established countries
already having a developed education system, health care system, and strong central government
where as these poor and developing countries are struggling with all of the above. Poor countries also
suffering from terrible diseases, crime, and corruption on all fronts, including government; something
that these rich and powerful countries know not much about. However, when the question comes up,
Do these rich nations owe poor nations? The answer should and always be no. Rich countries are not
responsible for the huge amounts of debts that these developing countries are in, they are not
responsible for the misuse of grants and loans giving to these developing countries, and they are
certainly not responsible for all of the corruptions in government and commerce that take place in
most of these developing countries. With that being said, these rich countries do not owe these poor
developing countries anything, but should aid in their development. With the gap widening between
rich and poor nations, this cycle will continue until the gap is too wide to be fixed. These established
countries must take more responsibility into assisting these developing countries and bridging the gap
between rich and poor. Wealthy countries have an obligation to maintain and grow their own wealth in
order to keep a stable economy. The economic term pareto optimal is the idea that one cannot

The Safety Of Driving And Driving
Government interference was first introduced under the automobile industry dating back to the very
early 1900s, with a large topic that many people miss when going back into history: the safety of it all.
We, the population of today, are given the ability to drive up to 85mph without thinking twice about it,
our only focus being on the destination. This is recompensed to the drivers of the twenty first century
through the technical advances in firm laws, better drivers education systems, and safer roads and
vehicles. On the other hand, this was not the case a century ago, nor were drivers given the same
luxury just fifty years ago. As the high end, expensive motorized vehicle for the opulence became
cheaper and more common on the streets, danger risks peeked increasingly year after year. As broad as
it may seem, there were only two things that caused accidents on the road: lack of education when
needed in specific situations and orders to abide by. A century ago, no one thought otherwise when it
came to speeding on left turns, drinking and driving, and following the simplest, safest guidelines that
includes just wearing a seatbelt, and so this is when the government intervenes. Dating all the way
back to 1901, Connecticut was the very first state to enforce a speeding limit on motorized vehicles,
an annoying facet of today s roads from the eyes of our speeding parents. This limited the cars to
driving 12 mph within the cities and 15 mph along country roads. (History.com

Failure Of An After School Boat Building Team
You only fail if you do not try. Failure is many times the stopping point of a person s success. I believe
that failure is actually pushing yourself forward to later reach your goal. This failure in my life has
taught me to communicate more with my teammates and better prepare myself for what to expect. My
experience with failure involved an after school boat building team. Every year, the Metropolitan
Water District of Southern California holds an event called the Solar Cup each year at Lake Skinner.
This event involves many schools throughout California that form teams to build a boat that can be
powered by solar. My team was formed with the combination of three high schools, Tahquitz, West
Valley, and Western Center Academy. On the first day I had the opportunity to meet new people from
the different schools. This gave me the chance to create bonds with new people. It all started with
brainstorming ideas about how the boat should be. A tech report was also needed to be done so that the
organizers can know what components are going to be involved with the boat. I did the technical
report which involved having the information of each component of the boat, whether that be the
design of the boat or the materials being used for the boat. I had to make sure that each detail of the
tech report was good so that I can start on building the boat with my team. After our tech report was

Ruby Ridge
There were many events that caused the bombing that could have been prevented by the federal
government. One of the main events that was turned into a motive for the bombing was the raid on
Ruby Ridge. As Gunn said, the raid on Ruby Ridge was started when federal agents went to the home
of Randy Weaver, a notorious white supremacist leader, to arrest him for failing to report in court for a
weapons charge (647). The agents were met with much resistance by Weaver and his son. As Gunn
states, Weaver s son started a shootout with the agents on August 22, 1992, which lead to a week long
standoff between the agents and Weaver s family (647). Marcovitz states, the standoff ended on

As Gunn says, there was little shooting between the two sides after the first couple of days and the
majority of the standoff was spent negotiating (650). Marcovitz states, after not much other progress
the federal agents decided to flush out the compound with tear gas; it forced a few people out but a
majority of them stayed in the compound, setting fires and even shooting themselves (70). Marcovitz
also states, on April 19, 1993 the siege was concluded and the body count reached eighty five,
including Koresh who was shot (70). This event, especially so close to the Ruby Ridge incident,
sparked even more outrage among white supremacists and they called for retaliation against all the
agents and anyone else involved in the siege. As Gunn says, McVeigh who was freshly out of the army
and who was slowly spiraling decided to throw himself into the passion he felt towards the anti
government groups (647). If the federal government hadn t used such excessive force than the public
backlash would have been less severe and would possibly have stopped radicals like McVeigh from
seeking revenge. The author states, Investigators later learned that McVeigh hated the government for
its raid on the Branch Davidian Compound on April 19, 1993 in Waco, Texas, as well as the incident

Pros And Cons Of Military Weapons
When growing up every child trusted the police and so did the adults. As the years progressed the trust
with law enforcement started to weaken within the black community. This was occurring every day in
America. Citizens would post a video online on how a white police officer treated a colored man or
women. This made many cities and other states furious, which then led these individuals to protest.
The police officers in America shouldn t be allowed to carry military grade weapons. With all the
crimes that are occurring bringing these kinds of weapons would only cause mass destruction. Military
weapon should be left for war not for ending protests. Also, certain law enforcers would take
advantage of these weapons for their own good.

Civil War And A Revolution
According to the UN, the death toll in Syria almost reached two hundred thousand over the last three
and a half years, and the number of displaced Syrians reached 9.5 million. Because of the complexity
of the situation, a lot of people don t even know exactly what is happening over there. The first thing
that might pop into one s mind is that a civil war is going on there. On the other hand, others argue
that it is a revolution against oppression that has been brutally responded to. Evaluating the situation
in Syria requires solid understanding of specific terms of a civil war and a revolution. Also, is there a
general consensus on what a civil war or a revolution is? Can the situation in Syria simply be
classified into one of these two?
The first important thing to know is that there is no single definition of a civil war that historians or
political scientists have agreed upon. However, a commonly used definition to judge a situation is that
of the correlate of war project, which explains a civil war as a sustained military combat, primarily
internal, resulting in at least 1,000 battle deaths per year, in which government forces are in conflict
with a revolting force capable of effective resistance, determined by the latter s ability to inflict upon
the government forces at least 5% of the fatalities that the insurgents sustain. Under this classification,
there have been 53 civil wars from 1946 to 1992 (Civil War in the Post Colonial World 1946 92).

Get Out Racism Analysis
Get Out Racism
Get out is an American horror film directed by Jordan Peele. The film is based literally on the racism.
A black African young man Chris (Daniel Kaluuya), a photographer and his white girlfriend Rose
(Allison Williams) went to visit her parents house. Chris is worried on the fact that her parents doesn t
know that Chris is black because her parents are liberal racist. Chris finds out that her family has a
black servant who seems like they are forced to do the work or being controlled by their parents.
In the beginning of the scene where deer get hits from the car, the camera literally focuses on Chris
shoes as he walks closer to the deer to find out if the deer is dead or not. Chris is wearing a blue
shoelaces. There is a long history behind what colored shoelaces do you wear and each color has a
specific meaning. For instance, red color shoe laces are used by neo nazi skinheads symbolize that
they had killed someone. But, by researching on blue shoelaces I found out that it is used to symbolize
the opposite that wearing blue shoelace makes someone thinks you are opposing racism(Citation). In
fact, Chris ends up killing Jeremy(Caleb Landry Jones). These red and blue color shoe laces can be
viewed differently throughout the film. What I saw from the film that all the white people are wearing
red on their bodies during the party. However, Logan(Lakeith Stanfield) has a blue fringe around his
hat, which represent that some part of him in his mind. Chris is

Arch Street Friends Meeting House Research Paper
Welcome to Arch street Friends Meeting house where you will explore the many wonder wonders of a
Quaker home. built between 1803 and 1804, Quakers would gather for weekly, monthly, and yearly
meetings to worship and speak with each other. Originally part of a loan from the King,(loan was
originally to Penn s father but, his father died before the King could give the loan to him) he gave
William Penn land who founded Pennsylvania with the land. William penn deeded land to the Quakers
in 1693 on which the building sits today. William Penn was originally Catholic, but then switched to
being a Quaker because he thought it could benefit him in other things. In 1718, William penn died of
a stroke. The land of this building served as a burial ground for people who died because of the Yellow
Fever epidemic of 1793 and other people who died of other causes. ... Show more content on

Some of the meetings Betsy Ross attended. Owen Biddle built the building on the 2.2 acre lot. It was
then elevated with graves on top of the old burial ground. Did you know that the Quakers were
originally from a different religious group? Once they came out of that group, they started their own
group leading up to what is now, the Arch Street Friends Meeting House. Quakers objected to paying
war taxes, promising loyalty, and taking arms. Most Quakers supported the war, but some thought that
their was no need for war. Quakers have an acronym that represents what Quakers believe in. Spices
represents five different things. S means simplicity, P means peace, I means integrity, C means
community, E means Equality, and the last S in SPICES means,

The Epidemic Of Smallpox Vaccine
In the 21th century we live our lives day to day seeing the next medicine breakthrough. It is easy for
us to assume that s how the history of medicine has always been. On the contrary, medicine became
positively modern in the 19th century, new inventions were introduced, new discoveries were brought
to their attention, remedies was in the spotlight, and the start of women s professions generated.
Vaccines are the most successful strategies in medicine to prevent and even eliminate the most
gruesome and contagious diseases. For centuries, smallpox traumatized the human race. Today,
smallpox is not something we automatically think of when somebody gets a rash or have the chills,
thanks to Edward Jenner. The first successful smallpox vaccine was introduced by Jenner in 1796.
Although, Jenner s portrayed the first scientific attempt to control this deadly disease, later in the 19th
century it was perceived that the vaccination did not grant immunity for the rest a victim s life. As the
19th century came to an end, the smallpox vaccine became more advanced and more depended on.
Scientist Louis Pasteur amazed the French Academy of Medicine when he prevented two boys from
contracting rabies. Once a person was to get rabies, the symptom was death. A 15 year old, Jean
Baptiste, was bitten several times while conflicting with a rabid dog. Three days following to the dog
attack, Pasteur and his colleagues injected Jean 13 times over 10 days with rabid rabbits nerve tissue

A New Position As Director Of Industrial Operations
In November 1981, I began the new position as Director of Industrial Operations (DIO). There was
much work to do.: The bus availability was u, unacceptable, the Commissary had a terrible reputation,
and there was no security plan; important as the DIO was also the Security, Plans, and Operations
(SPO). I charged the Motor Pool Lieutenant for two plans; improve bus availability and establish a
Community Shuttle Bus route that would take people from the housing areas to the Commissary. We
implemented both plans a week later. We advertised the new shuttle bus and I road it often to ensure
its timeliness and utilization. I hired a security officer to write a plan and coordinate it with all the
Units and Community Staff. We initiated a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My Master Sergeant Deputy was sitting on the couch in my office and noticed a shadow on the wall
just outside the window behind my desk. He called my attention to it, and we looked out the window.
There was a 1 inch diameter rope coming down from the roof above. The workers had finished so he
and I went up on the roof to get a better look. When we got up there, we saw the rope attached to a
large fire extinguisher and tied off on a vent pipe. There was a note that read: Greetings from the
Baader Meinhof Gang. We cleared the entire facility and called the Quick Response Battalion to
activate the quick response plan. The Criminal Investigation Division and the bomb squad came, but
no Battalion response team. They found a fire extinguisher bomb with 13 pounds of TNT in it. That
was my 8th near death experience, but more importantly, the bomb s timing exposed the kindergarten
located just below it. I activated the emergency response plan, but the responsible battalion didn t
respond. I was furious, but the Chief of Staff said it was better that we kept it low profile. Politics
dictated no Armored Personnel Carriers should be roaming the downtown streets.
A couple months later General Riscassi transferred, and General Watson took Command. Where

Mushu In Mulan
Mushu is the one of the character in the Disney featured film Mulan. Mushu is the red dragon, which
is the main deuteragonist character acted as Mulan s guardian and protector of her family. Based on
this film, the character design of Mushu was using the traditional Chinese dragon appearance as the
concept as well as this film is a China historical story. Chinese dragons could control many elements
and did not require wings to fly, and it was depicted as a benevolent creature, which respected as gods.
The position and the identity of Mushu have clearly shown in the film that Mushu has a contrasting
character compared to the concept of Western dragon, which is more towards aggressive appearances.
At the beginning of the film, Mushu does not

How Accounting Is A Profession
Accounting is a profession that seems to be growing by the day. We were told during the first class
period that employment of accountants is growing 22% from 2008 to 2018. Goes to show that
Accounting is something that everyone needs, and is the backbone of business. Throughout this
semester we have been fortunate enough to have speakers from multiple accounting professions come
talk to us about their profession and what it entails. Tony Batman stood out to me because he shed a
different light on the accounting profession and business in general. Common perception is that people
get into business just to make money. Mr. Batman said something that will stick with me throughout
my entire career that is contrary to the notion of businesses being around solely for profit. He said that
the primary purpose of business is to make people s lives better . I had never thought of business that
way, I had always perceived it as providing a service for customers but you are actually making their
lives better while providing that service. In this essay I will discuss how things I learned in this class
helped guide my future career choice.
The first big question on deciding a career in accounting that was brought up was Public Accounting
vs. Private Accounting. We discussed that Public Accountants were more of service providers to
clients; this could include audit, tax, and advisory service roles that the company provides to their
employers. Most of the speakers that came to talk to us,

Even though in the past many stood up for equality and to stop racism and discrimination, it still occurs. In this nation of freedom and equality, there are still many people who believe that their race is superior to others. These beliefs are the ones that destroy our nation and affect the lives of many. The people affected are not limited by their age group, sex, social status, or by their education level. They also discriminate the legal Latinos, because in their eyes they are the same as the illegal ones. The article also portrays the horrific actions of discrimination racist extremist do against Latinos. Eviatar reports the examples of the abuse by stating, a young mother was arrested and jailed when she asked to be paid for her work in a Tennessee cheese factory; a migrant bean picker whose life savings were confiscated by police during a traffic stop, and a rapist in Georgia going unpunished because his 13 year old victim is undocumented (par 3). The hate they feel towards this minority group, cause them to commit acts that are unjustifiable. They inflict pain and psychological suffering to Hispanics. This behavior is the cause racism, that as you see can harm to other ethnicities at a great level. It lasted from 1756 until 1763, so it was also known as the Seven Years War. At the peace conference in 1763, the British received Canada from France and Florida from Spain, but permitted France to keep its West Indian sugar islands and gave Louisiana to Spain. The treaty strengthened the American colonies significantly by removing their European rivals to the north and south and opening the Mississippi Valley to westward expansion. Within a month, they took Fort Frontenac at the western end of the river. Then they arrived at Quebec, where General James Wolfe won another important victory in the Plains of Abraham in September 1759. However, both he and the French commander, the Marquis de Montcalm, died soon after the battle. When the British captured Montreal in September 1760, the French lost their last foothold in Canada. Soon, Spain decided to help France fight against England, and throughout the rest of the war Britain focused on capturing French and Spanish territories in other places throughout the world. The cost of funding the war was so massive that the ensuing debt nearly destroyed the British government. This debt caused most of the grievances between the British and the colonists, eventually leading to the Revolutionary War. This resource loss had a massive impact on Britain. The outcome of the war never truly made up for the resources the British had to use to win, so they had to find another way to make up for the lost funds. This was achieved by taxing the colonies on many types of goods. The first thing Britain wanted to do was stop illegal smuggling. They attempted to do this through the Sugar Act. From extensive research, using a variety of relevant and credible resources, there are three compensation systems that should be considered: Performance Based Pay Salary Longevity Pay 1 Performance Based Pay A Performance Based Pay system is an increasingly popular compensation method used by organizations to increase productivity. A goal for all companies is to try and remain competitive and control costs, this is a reason for performance based pay systems becoming more popular. This type of system attempts to link compensation to performance. (Gena Richter, 2002) These systems are directly tied to organization or individual performance and are most effective when based on objective measures of quantity or quality of performance. If we wish to have a direct impact on work motivation, it must be linked directly to the performance of desired behaviors. In order for to put this type of system into place, performance evaluations must be conducted regularly , as well as training and development for those with performance that isn t quite up to par. These additional resources will be necessary for our organization if we implement a performance based pay system. (William B. Bernathy, Ph. • 10. Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two... In a world which is only now beginning to emerge from the shackles of colonialism, both former empires and the nations once subdued by their hegemony have entered a transitional period defined by uncertainty and the loss of collective identity. Compounding matters is the delicate balance that expatriates from former colonies turned independent countries, such as Pakistan, India, and Hong Kong, must seek to achieve while residing in the former motherland of Great Britain. For the most ambitious and hopeful immigrants, the arduous process of assimilation from pre colonial society to the very seat of imperial power which once exercised dominion over your homeland from afar can be a jarring metamorphosis. Two exquisitely written short stories published during the tumultuous postcolonial period of the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two Kinds, harness the provocative power of prose to explore the quintessentially modern cultural theme of dual and transitional identity. By juxtaposing the paternal expectation of father Parvez with the harsh reality his militarized, extremist son Ali, Kureishi exposes the fallacious notion of the British dream offered to immigrants from former colonies around the world. Through her wrenching tale of the divisions sewn between Chinese mothers, who lived through the Communist Cultural Revolution, and their Americanized daughters struggling to bear the burden of competing customs, Tan examines the ... Installing A Office Surveillance System Due to the rapid advancement in technology especially in the security industry, there is a huge surge in the numbers of company surveillance of the employees and different ways of supervision have been established. Many companies have installed security cameras in the workplace and have access to the browsing history and emails of workers. However, there has been an uproar among the workers lately as they are more exposed to social media and news from different places. More and more cases of employers overextending their power and control of workers private lives can be seen all over the United States. For example, according to the president of Teamsters Local 804, Tim Sylvester, the metrics based assault of workers is not anything strange (Bruder, 2015). Indeed, it is not beneficial to a company to install office surveillance system because it raises privacy concerns among the workers, causes mistrust between employees and employers, and reduces organizational commitment. It is argued by some that installing surveillance system in the workplace is advantageous to the company because the companies need to protect their company assets and trade secrets. This is because electronic surveillance prevents any intrusion, hacking or negative attempts to their computer systems. Indeed, Ball (2010) contends that they want to protect corporate interests and trade secrets. Throughout human history, there has been a constant back and forth from those who lack liberties that others are given without second thought. While liberty may not have a single definition, most people can agree that it is something that should be given to those who wish to live harmoniously in a society. Nevertheless, I believe that humans as an entity are more likely to agree with Nozick s view, and I see how it could be better implemented into a preexisting society, whereas Rawls s concept almost needs a complete blank slate to be fully implemented in the purest way possible. While Rawls argues that, the idea of an overlapping consensus is introduced to make the idea of a well ordered society more realistic and to adjust it to the historical and social conditions of democratic societies, I believe that the conflicting religious, philosophical, and moral views held collectively by people vary too much to implement Rawls s ideas in an effective way. It has always been fascinating how the forensic analysts could deduce the exact time when a person was murdered to the correct hour and most times to the correct minute. In each of these TV shows there were three main ways on how the protagonists determined the time of death of the murdered or suicide victims. The three ways were rigor mortis, algor mortis, and entomology. Using these methods they had conclusive results on how the person was murdered and when the person was murdered. An exploration of the play reveals a fundamental difference between the women s actions and the men s, a difference grounded in varying understandings of the home space. (Holstein) The place is then looked over by the officers to find out if she really did kill her husband, but the officers find nothing because the wives of the officers hide the dead bird from them. They did not have all the same rights as the men back in the day. Susan Glaspell depicts the marriage between men and women as men being upper class and telling the women what to do, and the women as almost slaves, forced to do what their husbands tell them to do. The women in the play, Trifles, were treated like second class citizens. They are many examples of this like when the officers tell the wives to stay behind, the officers do not investigate the women because they do not think they could be involved or know anything, and the women were described by how their husbands were. ... While the women in the church have an organized discipleship effort happening, there is not a concerted effort to grow men into faithful followers of Jesus Christ. The men of the church need a program where discipleship happens intentionally. The scripture that First Baptist Church uses for it s vision is Matthew 5:13. The City on a Hill theme comes for this verse. The idea is that we should be salt and light to the world so that others will know Him through us. People are not committed followers of Christ just because they study the Bible. That is only part of the process. The Great Commission tells us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey (Matthew 28:16). The Great Commandment tells us to love God and others. (Matthew 22). The New Commandment in John tells us to love one another (John 13:34 35). The church needs to be able to forge relationship so that they in turn can reproduce more Christians. My ideal meal arrangement included fried chicken wings accompanied with Kraft s famous macaroni with cheese. Comparable to any story the dilemma posed itself, when I noticed that there was no vegetable oil to fry with. Moreover, I was still fixated on fried chicken. I customarily am the description of the term strong headed , and having faith, I commenced a search for a new method of creating a chicken masterpiece. Consequently, I began to ponder for the first time in my life, why vegetable oil (or any oil) was essential to preparing fried chicken, and if I really needed it or not. I had been so accustomed to the cliché preparation of fried chicken. I knew that this idea was going to cause me to gain a new perspective, even think out side the chicken box to achieve the same results as fried chicken from baking it instead. In my opinion, cooking oil is only a prerequisite concerning any fried food method for two grand reasons: to prevent the food from sticking to a pan or pot, and lastly so that the food will not burn from sticking to the pot or pan. Thus I charged myself with the intent to redefine fried chicken. I questioned, did it need to be fried in oil to be considered fried? What did the term fry even mean? Who would ve known how much impact could be made when someone lost their job? I certainly didn t. You never realize how important something is until you lose it. My family depended on that job. Once it was gone, it felt as if our life was being thrown away. Where are we going to go now? No one knew, but we had to think of a plan quickly, before we get thrown out. I got laid off from my job. my dad grimaced. I didn t know what that meant, but it couldn t be good if my mom had a gloomy look on her face. I became worried for us. Was everything okay? Were we going to be okay? I wish I knew what being laid off meant, but I was three, I couldn t understand. Days went by, and my mom explained to me what was happening. Your dad isn t working anymore. We re going to have to leave this house. We can t pay for it any longer. she said. My mom ran a foster care service, so she wasn t going to be able to pay for the house herself. What did that mean for us? Where are we staying? Where was our puppy coming with us? Everything became so depressing. The happiness in the family was gone. My parents didn t want to be bothered with me. I didn t understand back then, but I surely understand now. There wasn t time to play. First, one must realize the reason they are in a graduate program to begin with. What goals do you hope to achieve in completing a graduate program? The reasons can be many such as better job opportunities, higher income, or perhaps just for the prestige of earning a graduate degree. Other reasons could include setting a good example for that of your children or gaining the respect of family and friends. It is easy to put off an assignment until the last minute only to turn in work that is not to the best of your ability because you were rushed. It is best to plan out certain times throughout the day that can be used to get required reading or research complete. You can get more accomplished throughout the week if you take it a little at a time. Consistency will yield more results than trying to get all of an assignment complete at the last minute. The student can also prepare all the materials needed for an assignment in advance. It is much easier to complete an assignment if you have all the required resources readily available ahead of time. There is an enormous difference between undergraduate classes and classes taken in a graduate degree plan. Student s that are in an undergraduate degree plan are expected to summarize material that is researched or given to them for a paper. According to Lavelle and Bushrow (2007), the increased writing demands of courses at the graduate level, including greater emphasis on depth and breadth, demand for genre competence, and often expectation for publication, merely reporting or summarizing are insufficient (Lavelle amp; Bushrow, 2007). Canadian Water Debate Water Debate Selling our water will be beneficial to Canadians because it will create new jobs and help out the economy, we could have Canada trade its water for other natural resources instead of just selling it. The cellular configuration is simulated using a series of finite element models representing fullscale. The models are benchmarked against experimental results from pure compression tests. Finite element models of the honeycomb assemblies under compressive loading have been developed using nonlinear shell elements from an ANSYS code. Good agreement is observed between numerical nonlinear simulations and the experimental results. Keywords: FEA, Honeycombs, cellular, flatwise; Hexagonal topology . I. INTRODUCTION Honeycomb out of plane compressive properties are of interest for many researchers because they are important for the mechanical performance of sandwich panels, such as local compression and impact resistance. Bouakba et al [1] proposed a novel type Voronoi lattice and study this honeycomb by FEA on in plane mechanical properties using the ANSYS code. Poor countries also suffering from terrible diseases, crime, and corruption on all fronts, including government; something that these rich and powerful countries know not much about. Rich countries are not responsible for the huge amounts of debts that these developing countries are in, they are not responsible for the misuse of grants and loans giving to these developing countries, and they are certainly not responsible for all of the corruptions in government and commerce that take place in most of these developing countries. With that being said, these rich countries do not owe these poor developing countries anything, but should aid in their development. With the gap widening between rich and poor nations, this cycle will continue until the gap is too wide to be fixed. • 33. The Safety Of Driving And Driving Government interference was first introduced under the automobile industry dating back to the very early 1900s, with a large topic that many people miss when going back into history: the safety of it all. We, the population of today, are given the ability to drive up to 85mph without thinking twice about it, our only focus being on the destination. This is recompensed to the drivers of the twenty first century through the technical advances in firm laws, better drivers education systems, and safer roads and vehicles. On the other hand, this was not the case a century ago, nor were drivers given the same luxury just fifty years ago. As the high end, expensive motorized vehicle for the opulence became cheaper and more common on the streets, danger risks peeked increasingly year after year. As broad as it may seem, there were only two things that caused accidents on the road: lack of education when needed in specific situations and orders to abide by. A century ago, no one thought otherwise when it came to speeding on left turns, drinking and driving, and following the simplest, safest guidelines that includes just wearing a seatbelt, and so this is when the government intervenes. Dating all the way back to 1901, Connecticut was the very first state to enforce a speeding limit on motorized vehicles, an annoying facet of today s roads from the eyes of our speeding parents. This limited the cars to driving 12 mph within the cities and 15 mph along country roads. (History.com ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every year, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California holds an event called the Solar Cup each year at Lake Skinner. My team was formed with the combination of three high schools, Tahquitz, West Valley, and Western Center Academy. On the first day I had the opportunity to meet new people from the different schools. The first important thing to know is that there is no single definition of a civil war that historians or political scientists have agreed upon. Vaccines are the most successful strategies in medicine to prevent and even eliminate the most gruesome and contagious diseases. For centuries, smallpox traumatized the human race. Today, smallpox is not something we automatically think of when somebody gets a rash or have the chills, thanks to Edward Jenner. The first successful smallpox vaccine was introduced by Jenner in 1796. Although, Jenner s portrayed the first scientific attempt to control this deadly disease, later in the 19th century it was perceived that the vaccination did not grant immunity for the rest a victim s life. As the 19th century came to an end, the smallpox vaccine became more advanced and more depended on. Scientist Louis Pasteur amazed the French Academy of Medicine when he prevented two boys from contracting rabies. Once a person was to get rabies, the symptom was death. • 45. A New Position As Director Of Industrial Operations In November 1981, I began the new position as Director of Industrial Operations (DIO). There was much work to do.: The bus availability was u, unacceptable, the Commissary had a terrible reputation, and there was no security plan; important as the DIO was also the Security, Plans, and Operations (SPO). I charged the Motor Pool Lieutenant for two plans; improve bus availability and establish a Community Shuttle Bus route that would take people from the housing areas to the Commissary. We implemented both plans a week later. We advertised the new shuttle bus and I road it often to ensure its timeliness and utilization. I hired a security officer to write a plan and coordinate it with all the Units and Community Staff. We initiated a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My Master Sergeant Deputy was sitting on the couch in my office and noticed a shadow on the wall just outside the window behind my desk. He called my attention to it, and we looked out the window. There was a 1 inch diameter rope coming down from the roof above. The workers had finished so he and I went up on the roof to get a better look. When we got up there, we saw the rope attached to a large fire extinguisher and tied off on a vent pipe. There was a note that read: Greetings from the Baader Meinhof Gang. We cleared the entire facility and called the Quick Response Battalion to activate the quick response plan. The Criminal Investigation Division and the bomb squad came, but no Battalion response team. They found a fire extinguisher bomb with 13 pounds of TNT in it. That was my 8th near death experience, but more importantly, the bomb s timing exposed the kindergarten located just below it. I activated the emergency response plan, but the responsible battalion didn t respond. I was furious, but the Chief of Staff said it was better that we kept it low profile. Politics dictated no Armored Personnel Carriers should be roaming the downtown streets. A couple months later General Riscassi transferred, and General Watson took Command. Where General Riscassi was an intelligent, sophisticated leader, General Watson was the exact opposite. He was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. How Accounting Is A Profession Accounting is a profession that seems to be growing by the day. We were told during the first class period that employment of accountants is growing 22% from 2008 to 2018. Goes to show that Accounting is something that everyone needs, and is the backbone of business. Throughout this semester we have been fortunate enough to have speakers from multiple accounting professions come talk to us about their profession and what it entails. Tony Batman stood out to me because he shed a different light on the accounting profession and business in general. Common perception is that people get into business just to make money. Mr. Batman said something that will stick with me throughout my entire career that is contrary to the notion of businesses being around solely for profit. He said that the primary purpose of business is to make people s lives better . I had never thought of business that way, I had always perceived it as providing a service for customers but you are actually making their lives better while providing that service. In this essay I will discuss how things I learned in this class helped guide my future career choice. The first big question on deciding a career in accounting that was brought up was Public Accounting vs. Private Accounting. We discussed that Public Accountants were more of service providers to clients; this could include audit, tax, and advisory service roles that the company provides to their employers. Most of the speakers that came to talk to us, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
