Cosmopolitanism In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Taken away as a child, confused, lost and traumatized. What are you supposed to think when you are
in the midst of being taken away of everything you are known too? Of course, this is unjustified and
the government has to prevent the kidnapping of a child. However, in a country that is not
cosmopolitan enough is not able to prevent this. Cosmopolitan is the sophisticated or experienced
country that is matured. Yet, in the book Things fall apart is an acclaimed African Tribe that respect
culture and traditions. In the novel Things fall apart, Ikemefuna is taken away from his family due to a
murder he had nothing to do with. Ikemefuna faced the charges of a guilty man while being innocent
and everyone knew that. If Ikemefuna faced more cosmopolitan principles, Ikemefuna fate would
have been different. When one applies Kwame Anthony Appiah s idea that a person s beliefs are only
rational relative to the beliefs he already possesses it in Cosmopolitanism to Ikemefuna in Chinua
Achebe s Things Fall Apart, the character fate is justified in their beliefs but not in the cosmopolitan
view.
In the beginning of the book Ikemefuna is dragged away from his native home to a new tribe. As
stated in the text, to carry a message of war to their enemies unless they agreed to give up a young
man and a virgin to atone for the murder of Udo s wife (Things fall apart 27) It is not justified to give
up a young man that had nothing to do with the murder. If the tribe has a more cosmopolitan

The Four Seasons Analysis
Vivaldi crossed over any barrier amongst words and verse and music by introducing every
development with a piece and mirroring these states of mind with particular melodic subjects and
thoughts. He utilized both exacting interpretations of thoughts to music, for example, pizzicato to
demonstrate raindrops and impersonations of winged creature calls and more allegorical
interpretations, for example, cacophony to indicate icy present in winter and quick scales that depict
twirling winds.[22] These strategies enabled the audience members to feel just as they were
encountering nature through Vivaldi s musicality. It was this inclination that enabled the concerto to
genuinely become animated straight from the strings of the violins, and maybe this is the reason that
groups of onlookers even today have experienced passionate feelings for The Four Seasons .
Vivaldi s music was exceptionally noteworthy in light of the fact that he instructed a lot of youthful
understudies who utilized his procedures later and promoted them, his ideas of musicality are as yet
utilized by numerous authors today, ritornello is as yet utilized as a part of concertos, and his music
started to cross over any barrier amongst Baroque and Romantic music because of his amazingly
automatic concertos. Without his work at La Pietà, he in all probability would not have been so roused
to make such an astonishing number of concertos. Moreover, his work allowed him the chance to
instruct the youth of Italy,

Video Capsule Endoscopy for Identifying Crohn’s Disease Essay
Video Capsule Endoscopy for Identifying Crohn s Disease Crohn s disease is a form of inflammatory
bowel disease (IBD) that could occur anywhere from the mouth to the rectum. However, it usually
affects the intestines (Longstreth, 2010). Like many illnesses, there is no cure for Crohn s as the exact
cause of it is unknown. There are a number of tests and procedures available that aide in making the
diagnosis of Crohn s disease. Stool cultures and blood work can suggest IBD but may not directly
indicate the disease. Barium enemas, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging
(MRI) are useful exams but the preferred method involves scoping via endoscopy. Endoscopy allows

esophagus, stomach and small bowel to a receiver worn by the patient. The capsule takes two pictures
per second, for a total of approximately 55,000 images (para. 12). After the specified time frame, the
patient returns to the office for removal of the data recorder. The capsule should normally pass
through the colon and be eliminated with a normal bowel movement. With traditional endoscopy, a
physician is required to perform and interpret the examination. However, capsule endoscopy can be
administered by any trained staff, downloaded and then read and analyzed by the physician. According
to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy:
Capsule endoscopy helps your doctor evaluate the small intestine. This part of the bowel cannot be
reached by traditional upper endoscopy or by colonoscopy. The most common reason for doing
capsule endoscopy is to search for a cause of bleeding from the small intestine. It may also be useful
for detecting polyps, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn s disease), ulcers, and tumors of the small
intestine. (para. 3)
Wireless video capsule endoscopy allows a physician to see his regular clinic patients without
blocking the day to perform procedures. It also allows the patients to arrive at the office early in the
day to complete ingestion

How Does Housing Affordability
2.1 Theoretical Literature concept of Housing Affordability
Yates, 2006, notes that other expenditure outcomes can also be reduse by housing affordability.
Housing consume a high proportion of household expenditure, the trade offs households are required
to make in order to meet their housing needs may mean they have inadequate resources to meet their
non housing needs (Yates, 2006).Specifically, the low income families devoting a large share of their
income to housing, often make sacrifices to meet their housing costs, such as going without food, or
children missing out on

Putting these three life modes into a house/home, or affordable housing perspective, one could relate
them as follows:
The first mode is self employed where means of production are owned and included within the
house. Therefore, the house serving as both living and working place, and no separation between
working time and space time.
The second mode is wage earner, where the house is either regarded as a primary place serving for
recreational purpose, or as a place where important spare time activities are undertaken. The third
mode is career oriented, where ideally the house reflect the personal progress in order to reflect
position, social status, and past and recent experiences.
Affordable housing and housing affordability have become the dominant and debated issues in the
housing policy arena all over the world for the last two decades and the term housing needs has been
replaced by housing affordability and has occupied the center of the debate on the provision of
adequate housing for all (Quigley, 2004; Swartz and Miller, 2002; Whitehead, 1991).

Genetic Enhancement
Designer Babies Picture a young couple in a waiting room looking through a catalogue together. This
catalogue is a little different from what you might expect. In this catalogue, specific traits for babies
are being sold to couples to help them create the perfect baby. This may seem like a bizarre scenario,
but it may not be too far off in the future. Designing babies using genetic enhancement is an issue that
is gaining more and more attention in the news. This controversial issue, once thought to be only
possible in the realm of science fiction, is causing people to discuss the moral issues surrounding
genetic enhancement and germ line engineering. Though genetic research can prove beneficial to
learning how to prevent hereditary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(CRG) Proponents also believe that genetic engineering would prevent the necessity for repeated gene
modifications for somatic cells as well. Another reason some scientists support this procedure is to
give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may predispose them to
inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line modification, couples would be
able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children. Koshland says that germline alteration
could meet future ‘needs to design individuals better at computers, better as musicians, better
physically (CRG). James Watson has told researchers to try to prevent ugly babies and stupid people
and to reduce the odds that anyone will be shy or a ‘cold fish (McKibben 22). The basic selling point
of germ line modification that supporters like Watson seem to be focusing on for the long term is the
possibility of the ‘enhancement of desired traits. In other words, the possibility of designer children
(CRG).
So called ‘successful attempts at germ line modification will bring the production of human beings
into the world of designer items. The human creations will be subject to the fashion of the times just
like any other designer item (CRG). Those in favor of germ line manipulation make the assumption
that once a gene in a certain condition is found, it is only appropriate and would be reasonably easy

Essay on Reinsurance Of Catastrophe Risks
Reinsurance of Catastrophe Risks
Introduction
Extreme events happen very seldom, however, they can inflict tremendous damage when they strike.
The events are either natural occurrences (earthquake, flood, volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis) or man
made event (fire disasters, plane crashes, riots).
Increasing earthquake damage in recent years is evidence of rising vulnerability for the communities
as more people with more valuable property are residing in earthquake prone areas as it is observed by
the rapid population growth. In developing countries most of the growth is in very large urban centres,
for example, the Nairobi of today is very different from what it was 15 years ago both in population
and property.

The reinsurers then provide protection to primary insurers by insuring a portion of their claims in
exchange for a premium.
Why take Catastrophe Protection?
Insurance companies should know their exposure to catastrophic perils affecting properties they have
insured; if ignored, these perils can be life threatening because:
Compared with non catastrophe type of perils, catastrophe perils are unpredictable as to location,
frequency, and severity. While the amount of insurance liability is measured by summing the policy
limits, the amount of catastrophe exposure cannot be determined with any precision until after the
event.
The law of large numbers is limited in its benefit to the reinsured in catastrophes because they have
infrequent occurrences as they affect an individual insurance company.
The potential of un reinsured catastrophe exposures is fatal to the insurer and if not managed properly,
catastrophe perils can destroy the insurance enterprise.
After assessing the catastrophe exposure, the next critical thing is to seek for protection to cater for the
eventualities.
Management through Traditional Reinsurance
Protection for the catastrophe risks is provided by reinsurers through Catastrophe excess of loss which
covers the reinsured s retention against natural catastrophes accumulations

High Renaissance Painting in Florence and environs, 1490 1550
Learning about the art history in general during the Renaissance period makes anyone s interpretation
towards art change to the better. You become aware, of the color harmonization s, and reason behind
each detail drawn in a portrait or made in a sculpture. Symmetry, geometry and color coordination
were revolutionized in portraits and paintings by famous artist like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo,
and Raphael which is momentous. These three individuals played an enormous role during the
Renaissance with their artistic work. The west building, known as the edifice had a roman traditional

Most of the portraits were rectangular or square shaped. As a visitor, you would assume that the
paintings and each of the portrait frames are together taken to be displayed, but that was not the case.
The frames are from the gallery itself, which surprised many people on why and how this occurred. It
would have been more remarkable if the frames were from Florence as well. The frames were not
meant to overpower the portraits, but to enhance them. It was strange how all the frames of the
portraits were gold. Is because the Renaissance was considered as a golden age, so the frame could
enhance each portrait as so? Gallery room 20 was based on Raphael s painting, and that is why there
was one small writing on the wall that had a small description of Raphael and the High Renaissance.
Room arrangements at the gallery was very confusing. The fact that each room has one or two
doorways that leads you to another room in a circular motion was very misleading. If the setup was
more like rooms next to each other, it could have been more organized for the visitor. That is probably
one recommendation for a change. Maybe if the arrangement was not designed for the rooms to be
placed in circular gesture, it would have been more comfortable for the visitor to focus on what he/she
are viewing, rather than focusing on how which way gets me out. The numbers of the rooms were not
chronologically ordered, so that was deceptive as well for the visitors. The fact

The Effect Of Ad Hominem Fallacies And Biases
Analytical Essay on the Effect of Ad Hominem Fallacies and Biases in Writing In writing, fallacies
and cognitive biases hamper the effectiveness with which an author depicts his/her points, and
therefore obscure the main purpose of a piece. A fallacy is defined as mistaken belief based on an
unsound argument, while a bias is a prejudice in favor or against a certain thing, person, object, place,
idea, or belief. There exist countless amounts of different types of fallacies and biases, however,
regardless of whichever a piece of writing contains, when noticed fallacies and biases will negatively
affect writing. When reading and writing, one should remain aware of these fallacies, especially ad
hominem fallacies and biases. As will be displayed in both Langewiesche s and Jones s articles due to
the fact that an abundance of these, divert readers from the main idea of their pieces, cause the authors
credibility to be questioned, and therefore the credibility of the writing to be questioned as well. Ad
hominem fallacies occur when an author instead of directly addressing an opponent s argument, uses a
personal attack on his/her opponent s character or circumstances (Yapp, 2013, p.99). This fallacy
causes two effects on the reader, the first is a bias against the authors opponent, which causes writing
to be ineffective. This, is due to the fact that the reader is not forming an opinion against the authors
opponents argument, but against the authors actual opponent. The

The poet effectively makes use of different metaphors to portray cruelty towards children in the poem.
Clothes of death is a metaphor for the chimney sweepers uniform. The boy feels the injustice that he

The metaphor sing the notes of woe describe the child s despair as he begs lamentably the people

Visibility In Macbeth Essay
The question of visibility in Shakespeare s Macbeth, doesn t quite abide by the same straightforward
literal invisibility as found in The Tempest or The Witch of Edmonton. The instances of questionable
visibility in Macbeth are the hallucinations of the bloody dagger and the ghost of Banquo by Macbeth,
and the hallucination of blood on her hands by Lady Macbeth. Each of these moments are moments in
which the visibility of the vision is split. To the character who sees the vision it is most obviously
discernible, however the vision is not necessarily visible to the audience or the other characters, thus
functioning as a form of the unseen. In Scene 1, Act II, as Macbeth prepares to kill Duncan, he
hallucinates a bloody dagger saying: Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my
hand? The dagger isn t visible to the audience, i.e. it isn t written into the stage directions, but rather it
is Macbeth who reveals through his soliloquy that he is seeing something that is unseen by the
audience. The significance of it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only does the barrier of the seen and the unseen provide the setting for a play in which witchcraft
is central, but it also allows the playwright to use it as an extra tool for influencing and driving the
plot. It adds to the mystery of unnatural occurrences, evoking reactions from characters, but it also
allows for a layered approach to plot development, seeing as not all the events unfold as a result of
direct and open interference. The forms in which invisibility is employed vary from the literal to the
symbolic, providing different roles for it in the plays. Whether the role is one of symbolic
representation or literal manifestation, the influence of the unseen is crucial to the manner in which the
plot progresses and characters evolve. Invisibility is the tool that allows for the diversification of the

Review Of Waiting For Godot, Hamlet, And Moulin Rouge
In some aspects great musicals and orchestral scores can add to the experience of a theatrical play, but
films have adapted these aspects as well and have proven to be a more successful form of
entertainment. Theatre productions have become secondhand in comparison, though still viewed as a
high class of an entertainment, it is not nearly as successful to reaching a widespread audience as the
film industry has accomplished. The resulting film adaptations that have theatre like qualities often
fail completely due to their inability to capture the attention of contemporary audience members,
essentially creating a stagnant film. In this paper, I am specifically narrowing my focus and discussing
tragedy film adaptations in comparison to themselves and theatre. But first, I will give an overall
briefing of the history of film and theatre. Then I will discuss their relationship and what elements
create successful entertainment within films and how theatre like adaptations have a crippling effect to
a film s success rate. Finally I will have an in depth discussion on these elements within the films:

The Importance Of Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium
Prior to 1908, scientists were unable to consider a single gene in a diploid organism let alone being
able to determine its proportions. Luckily two very important individuals, Godfrey Hardy and Wilhem
Weinberg, combined forces and derived a theorem to calculate equilibrium in allele frequencies.
Today, this theorem is referred to as Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium. In one Cell Journal article, the
importance of such a theorem is describe as, Population based genetic association studies have proven
to be a powerful tool in identifying genes implicated in many complex human diseases that have a
huge impact on public health. An essential quality control step in such studies is to undertake Hardy
Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) calculations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the purpose of this experiment, I propose that if a population experiences forces such as genetic
drift, selection, and non random mating combined, then the fittest allele will express dominance,
leading to elimination of alternative alleles, and an extreme decrease in population size. Each scenario
was run through the Koi Fish pond simulation and then finally all run together to compare how each
force works on their own and then when combined.
Methods:
To simulate the introduction of genetic drift, selection, and non random mating into a population,
www.virtualbiologylab.org, specifically the PopGen Fish Pond was used. This simulator allows
experiments to be conducted online without the need of anything tangible besides a computer. The
website specifically describes the simulator as simulating natural environment with the way life
responds to changing conditions . Within the simulator, parameters and conditions can be adjusted to
model the population with the forces accordingly. For this experiment, parameters were set as follows:
initial size 50, carrying capacity 50, rr 1, Rr 0.5, RR 0.5, strength of assortment 0.6. The remaining
parameters were left as they were set by the simulator.

Chrissy Teigen Research Papers
Chrissy Teigen showed off the tiniest hint of her growing baby bump on Tuesday after announcing her
pregnancy. She walked graces the red carpet at the La Mer Celebration of an Icon event at Siren

As a result of increased corruption in the Catholic Church, a significant number of priests in the 16th
century tried to transform Christianity back to its previous Biblical basis and simplicity. Initially,
priests channeled much of their efforts in reforming the church, but they discovered that it was very
challenging, and the only viable solution was to split completely from the Catholic Church. There
were four movements as a result of the reformation events. They include the Anglicans, Lutherans,
Reformed Tradition (Calvin), and the Anabaptists. Key figures in the ... Show more content on

Reformations Theological Issues
Luther identified three major principles that were acknowledged by other Protestant factions.
According to the theological premises, all Christians are mandated to believe in the Scripture s
primacy. The idea means that the Biblical literal meaning should be favored in contrast to any learned
or conventional readings. Christians are also supposed to reject anything not founded in Scripture.
Secondly, justification is by faith alone, and Christians through believing will be saved, and not by
their good works; as maintained by the Catholic Church. The other premise is the priesthood of the
believer. The idea meant that it was not ideal to consider ordained priests as the true spiritual estate
members. Priesthood was eliminated by Luther in Protestant Churches though some still make use of
pastors or ministers to lead.
Apart from the three principals, the Eucharist sacrament was also elucidated by Luther with reference
to consubstantiation. Consubstantiation refers to the assurance that Christ is indeed present in the
Eucharist celebration. The belief is also similar to the transubstantiation doctrine. However, in the
transubstantiation doctrine, it is believed that wine and bread factually change to the blood and body
of Jesus Christ during the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Shampoo Advertising
Shampoo advertisements use Visual Rhetorical appeals to convince consumers to buy a certain
shampoo. The Fantastic Four exemplify the way that these shampoo ads use rhetorical appeals to sell
products. The Fantastic Four made it apparent that Shampoo commercials bundle a set of values and
false hopes with their product which allows them to be successful. They made appeals by using
characters, setting, and actions these ads successfully appealed to ethos, pathos, and logos, revealing
why shampoo ads are successful. There are two different ads, a L Oreal commercial and a Head and
Shoulders commercial, with two major distinctions. In the L Oreal commercial the person narrating
the ad is a woman and the character that appears is a woman. In the Head and Shoulders ad both the
character and narrator is a man. The L Oreal d shows a L Oreal shampoo bottle sitting by a pool. It
then cuts to the shampoo being squirted into a hand and ends with the bottle being held by a happy
consumer. Throughout the L Oreal commercial a woman s voice explains all of the benefits that come
with using L Oreal. The Head and Shoulders shows a man holding a Head and Shoulders shampoo
bottle followed by the same man catching the bottle multiple times. The imagery ends with the
shampoo placed on the edge of a bathtub. The Head and Shoulders ad is fully narrated by a man. The
narrator repeatedly says that the shampoo cannot be dropped. The first defining element that both ads
used were characters. The

The Effects Of Music On Our Lives
Music is an extremely important factor in our lives. In today s society, walking into a store and
hearing a pop song that you know all the lyrics to is a very common occurrence. If I were on a
stranded island, I would bring the album Born To Die by Lana Del Rey. Some songs or albums evoke
certain types of emotions whether through the utilization of lyrics, instrumentations, or beats. These
emotions can elicit different types of moods as well; and we often come by songs can put us in the
mood to do different kinds of things like cooking, sleeping, studying, spending time with friends, or
anything else. I don t think that Born To Die is my absolute favorite album, but I do think that it would
keep me from going insane on this stranded island.
Lana Del Rey has a mesmerizing, haunting, and vivacious voice when she sings, so it is no surprise
that I would have no problem hearing her on repeat on a stranded island. Her voice is a very distinct
and hard to forget voice as, which makes Born To Die a much more emotional album. She is
considered to be an Indie Pop artist, as she has a very eccentric and eclectic feel to most of her music.
The album is filled with harps and symphonic elements like violins, violas and cellos. Born to Die
contains steady drums and electronic guitar beats. However, Blue Jeans incorporates western guitars
that give it a string instrument vibe. Many of the songs on Born To Die have to do with boosting self
confidence and self esteem, often targeting

Abortion Is A Or Medical Removal Of An Embryo
Does life begin at the moment of conception? Or does life begin when the heart starts pumping and
the brain starts to think. Some say that life does not begin until birth. The issue of abortion has been
the subject of debate for several decades. Religions in Australia have influenced attitudes and laws
with regards to this issue in the past. Are the attitudes and involvement of Australian religions in the
abortion debate still relevant and do they make a difference?
Abortion is a surgical or medical removal of an embryo or a fetus from the uterus in order to end a
pregnancy (Dictionary, 2016). Abortion in Australia has always been regulated by state law. However,
previously before the end of the 19th century, each colony had adopted the ... Show more content on

It was also found that religious belief and support for legal abortion are not mutually exclusive, with
77% of those who identify as religious also support a woman s right to choose (Children by Choice,
2012).
The attitudes towards abortion have changed over the years. Since the 1980 s, opinion polls have
shown that majority of Australians support abortion rights. In 1987 a poll conducted by Saulwick
indicated about 7% of Australians would not approve of abortions under any circumstances. However,
an ACNielsen poll in 2005 reported that 56% thought the current abortion laws, which generally allow
abortion for the sake of life, health or economic factors, were fine, while 16% wanted a change in
making abortion more accessible and 17% wanting to make changes to make it less accessible
(Grattan, 2005).
The debate regarding abortion among religions has been prominent for centuries. Many religions have
different historical perspectives on the immorality of abortion, on whether it can ever be permitted,
and how believers should respond (Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, 2016). Buddhism
regard abortion as morally wrong as it involves the deliberate destroying of a life. However, the Dalai
Lama has spoken in favour of abortion under certain circumstances. He stated,
Of course, abortion, from a Buddhist viewpoint, is an act of killing and is negative,

George Orwell s Childhood And The Situations
In the laws of physics there can be no movement without an acting force. In the early twentieth
century many travesties went unnoticed due to idleness of the people. George Orwell was one of the
first writers to ever become fully involved in his writings and take action to discover the truth.
Through his actions as a writer Orwell started a chain of events and continue to inspire political
policies present today. The aim of this paper is to analyze how George Orwell s childhood and the
situations in which he placed himself during his life contributed to his writing skills while exposing
the truths of government issues, ultimately allowing him to become one of the most influential writers
of the twentieth century. George Orwell was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once his family had settled, Richard Blair returned to India alone to continue working, leaving Ida
and her three children in England (Rossi 9). Eric Blair was a troubled youth, often telling fibs and
playing with imaginary friends, making him unpopular during his schooling. This is the direct result of
him being the middle child of the three, with an age gap of five years between each child along with
the absence of his father (Orwell Why I Write 1).
At a young age Eric displayed aspirations of becoming a writer by writing poems and excelling in
school. Eric was a talented student, winning a scholarship to St. Cyprian s, a prestigious boarding
school located in southern England (Agathocleous 9). His time spent at this school was rather
unpleasant and Blair reflects on his time spent at St. Cyprian s in an essay called Such, Such Were the
Joy s, in which he describes the traumatizing disciplinary systems and the conditions that the young
boys lived in while attending preparatory school. His childhood experiences coupled with scarring
early school memories caused him to develop a strong hate for authority. Along with the harsh
conditions of the school came snobbery from wealthy kids who would single out the non wealthy kids
and bombard them with questions (Agathocleous 10), as Orwell later

Why Transcript Is Important To A College
One of the biggest questions that people may ask themselves when they apply for college is, What do I
need to do to attract this college. Many people believe that all you need to do is have a good transcript
while some believe that you should be in clubs, play sports, have jobs, and other things outside of just
school work. I believe that the transcript is a valuable piece of information, but I think that your
grades are not the main thing colleges should look at. I do believe that colleges look at grades, but I
also think a big part of getting accepted into college comes down to the extra things you have done
including extracurriculars, clubs, jobs, and other things that are not just school related.
One big thing that colleges look at when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colleges do not just want someone with only perfect grades, they want someone who has school spirit
and wants to get involved with things beside school work. Transcripts can also be misleading because
some people make good grades without actually trying. Even though a person may have good grades
that does not show that the person tries hard or studies, it can just prove that this person is naturally
smart. Playing sports, being in clubs, having jobs, and many other things are more important to a
college than a transcript. These things show that, you as a person, are capable of doing more than just
school work while still succeeding. It is easy for a person to do well in school if all they do is school,
but it is harder to do well in school if you also have full plate outside of school. Showing a college that
you can succeed while doing multiple things at once makes the college feel like you can do well in
college.
Having a good transcript is important but showing the college that you compete in sports, have a job,
do clubs, and other extracurricular things is more important. You need to have a good transcript to
show the college that you are a good student, but you need to show the college that you do more than
just school work and that their school will do better with you going

The Episode I Thought Was Most Interesting
The one episode I thought was most interesting was when the class first started and they were talking
about compound words. When Mrs. Detreick went to the front of the class room the students got silent
really fast. She then turned on the smart board and pulled up a worksheet. When they were going over
the worksheet she would have the student come up to the board and their responsibility was to write
what the compound word would be. After they got done with the worksheet she told the students to
take out their iPads and go to socrative. They played a game that they had to decide whether the word
was a compound word or not, this put a little competition into the learning. After they played a few
rounds of that the teacher hand out cards that had one part of the word and they have to find the other
student with the word completing your word. Once you find your partner you will see a number on the
top of your card and you will go to the spot in the room that matches your number that will be your
group.
3. So What
During the first episode in question 2 Mrs. Detreick does a great job of connecting the InTASC
teaching standard #3 Learning environment. The first way she shows this is by putting the worksheet
on the smart board that way everyone can see it. She then has students come up to the board and solve
the problem of connecting the compound words. She saw in her class that they respond well with
repetition and being involved. The second way she demonstrates this is by having

  • 2. Cosmopolitanism In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart Taken away as a child, confused, lost and traumatized. What are you supposed to think when you are in the midst of being taken away of everything you are known too? Of course, this is unjustified and the government has to prevent the kidnapping of a child. However, in a country that is not cosmopolitan enough is not able to prevent this. Cosmopolitan is the sophisticated or experienced country that is matured. Yet, in the book Things fall apart is an acclaimed African Tribe that respect culture and traditions. In the novel Things fall apart, Ikemefuna is taken away from his family due to a murder he had nothing to do with. Ikemefuna faced the charges of a guilty man while being innocent and everyone knew that. If Ikemefuna faced more cosmopolitan principles, Ikemefuna fate would have been different. When one applies Kwame Anthony Appiah s idea that a person s beliefs are only rational relative to the beliefs he already possesses it in Cosmopolitanism to Ikemefuna in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, the character fate is justified in their beliefs but not in the cosmopolitan view. In the beginning of the book Ikemefuna is dragged away from his native home to a new tribe. As stated in the text, to carry a message of war to their enemies unless they agreed to give up a young man and a virgin to atone for the murder of Udo s wife (Things fall apart 27) It is not justified to give up a young man that had nothing to do with the murder. • 3. The Four Seasons Analysis Vivaldi crossed over any barrier amongst words and verse and music by introducing every development with a piece and mirroring these states of mind with particular melodic subjects and thoughts. He utilized both exacting interpretations of thoughts to music, for example, pizzicato to demonstrate raindrops and impersonations of winged creature calls and more allegorical interpretations, for example, cacophony to indicate icy present in winter and quick scales that depict twirling winds.[22] These strategies enabled the audience members to feel just as they were encountering nature through Vivaldi s musicality. It was this inclination that enabled the concerto to genuinely become animated straight from the strings of the violins, and maybe this is the reason that groups of onlookers even today have experienced passionate feelings for The Four Seasons . Vivaldi s music was exceptionally noteworthy in light of the fact that he instructed a lot of youthful understudies who utilized his procedures later and promoted them, his ideas of musicality are as yet utilized by numerous authors today, ritornello is as yet utilized as a part of concertos, and his music started to cross over any barrier amongst Baroque and Romantic music because of his amazingly automatic concertos. Without his work at La Pietà, he in all probability would not have been so roused to make such an astonishing number of concertos. Moreover, his work allowed him the chance to instruct the youth of Italy, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Video Capsule Endoscopy for Identifying Crohn’s Disease Essay Video Capsule Endoscopy for Identifying Crohn s Disease Crohn s disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that could occur anywhere from the mouth to the rectum. However, it usually affects the intestines (Longstreth, 2010). Like many illnesses, there is no cure for Crohn s as the exact cause of it is unknown. There are a number of tests and procedures available that aide in making the diagnosis of Crohn s disease. Stool cultures and blood work can suggest IBD but may not directly indicate the disease. Barium enemas, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are useful exams but the preferred method involves scoping via endoscopy. ACG reports that, once swallowed, the capsule begins transmitting images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach and small bowel to a receiver worn by the patient. The capsule takes two pictures per second, for a total of approximately 55,000 images (para. 12). After the specified time frame, the patient returns to the office for removal of the data recorder. The capsule should normally pass through the colon and be eliminated with a normal bowel movement. With traditional endoscopy, a physician is required to perform and interpret the examination. However, capsule endoscopy can be administered by any trained staff, downloaded and then read and analyzed by the physician. According to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: Capsule endoscopy helps your doctor evaluate the small intestine. This part of the bowel cannot be reached by traditional upper endoscopy or by colonoscopy. The most common reason for doing capsule endoscopy is to search for a cause of bleeding from the small intestine. It may also be useful for detecting polyps, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn s disease), ulcers, and tumors of the small intestine. (para. 3) Wireless video capsule endoscopy allows a physician to see his regular clinic patients without blocking the day to perform procedures. It also allows the patients to arrive at the office early in the day to complete ingestion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Housing consume a high proportion of household expenditure, the trade offs households are required to make in order to meet their housing needs may mean they have inadequate resources to meet their non housing needs (Yates, 2006).Specifically, the low income families devoting a large share of their income to housing, often make sacrifices to meet their housing costs, such as going without food, or children missing out on 2.1.1 Emperical Literature According to Yewoinshet (2007), the housing development program has faced many challenges and many failures. For e.g. the projected cost of housing ... The second mode is wage earner, where the house is either regarded as a primary place serving for recreational purpose, or as a place where important spare time activities are undertaken. The third mode is career oriented, where ideally the house reflect the personal progress in order to reflect position, social status, and past and recent experiences. In this catalogue, specific traits for babies are being sold to couples to help them create the perfect baby. This may seem like a bizarre scenario, but it may not be too far off in the future. Designing babies using genetic enhancement is an issue that is gaining more and more attention in the news. This controversial issue, once thought to be only possible in the realm of science fiction, is causing people to discuss the moral issues surrounding genetic enhancement and germ line engineering. Though genetic research can prove beneficial to learning how to prevent hereditary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (CRG) Proponents also believe that genetic engineering would prevent the necessity for repeated gene modifications for somatic cells as well. Another reason some scientists support this procedure is to give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may predispose them to inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line modification, couples would be able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children. Koshland says that germline alteration could meet future ‘needs to design individuals better at computers, better as musicians, better physically (CRG). James Watson has told researchers to try to prevent ugly babies and stupid people and to reduce the odds that anyone will be shy or a ‘cold fish (McKibben 22). The basic selling point of germ line modification that supporters like Watson seem to be focusing on for the long term is the possibility of the ‘enhancement of desired traits. In other words, the possibility of designer children (CRG). So called ‘successful attempts at germ line modification will bring the production of human beings into the world of designer items. The events are either natural occurrences (earthquake, flood, volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis) or man made event (fire disasters, plane crashes, riots). Increasing earthquake damage in recent years is evidence of rising vulnerability for the communities as more people with more valuable property are residing in earthquake prone areas as it is observed by the rapid population growth. In developing countries most of the growth is in very large urban centres, for example, the Nairobi of today is very different from what it was 15 years ago both in population and property. Why take Catastrophe Protection? Insurance companies should know their exposure to catastrophic perils affecting properties they have insured; if ignored, these perils can be life threatening because: Compared with non catastrophe type of perils, catastrophe perils are unpredictable as to location, frequency, and severity. While the amount of insurance liability is measured by summing the policy limits, the amount of catastrophe exposure cannot be determined with any precision until after the event. The law of large numbers is limited in its benefit to the reinsured in catastrophes because they have infrequent occurrences as they affect an individual insurance company. The potential of un reinsured catastrophe exposures is fatal to the insurer and if not managed properly, catastrophe perils can destroy the insurance enterprise. After assessing the catastrophe exposure, the next critical thing is to seek for protection to cater for the eventualities. Management through Traditional Reinsurance Protection for the catastrophe risks is provided by reinsurers through Catastrophe excess of loss which covers the reinsured s retention against natural catastrophes accumulations

High Renaissance Painting in Florence and environs, 1490 1550 Learning about the art history in general during the Renaissance period makes anyone s interpretation towards art change to the better. You become aware, of the color harmonization s, and reason behind each detail drawn in a portrait or made in a sculpture. Symmetry, geometry and color coordination were revolutionized in portraits and paintings by famous artist like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael which is momentous. These three individuals played an enormous role during the Renaissance with their artistic work. Most of the portraits were rectangular or square shaped. As a visitor, you would assume that the paintings and each of the portrait frames are together taken to be displayed, but that was not the case. The frames are from the gallery itself, which surprised many people on why and how this occurred. It would have been more remarkable if the frames were from Florence as well. The frames were not meant to overpower the portraits, but to enhance them. It was strange how all the frames of the portraits were gold. Is because the Renaissance was considered as a golden age, so the frame could enhance each portrait as so? Gallery room 20 was based on Raphael s painting, and that is why there was one small writing on the wall that had a small description of Raphael and the High Renaissance. Room arrangements at the gallery was very confusing. The fact that each room has one or two doorways that leads you to another room in a circular motion was very misleading. If the setup was more like rooms next to each other, it could have been more organized for the visitor. That is probably one recommendation for a change. Maybe if the arrangement was not designed for the rooms to be placed in circular gesture, it would have been more comfortable for the visitor to focus on what he/she are viewing, rather than focusing on how which way gets me out. The numbers of the rooms were not chronologically ordered, so that was deceptive as well for the visitors. The fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Effect Of Ad Hominem Fallacies And Biases Analytical Essay on the Effect of Ad Hominem Fallacies and Biases in Writing In writing, fallacies and cognitive biases hamper the effectiveness with which an author depicts his/her points, and therefore obscure the main purpose of a piece. A fallacy is defined as mistaken belief based on an unsound argument, while a bias is a prejudice in favor or against a certain thing, person, object, place, idea, or belief. There exist countless amounts of different types of fallacies and biases, however, regardless of whichever a piece of writing contains, when noticed fallacies and biases will negatively affect writing. When reading and writing, one should remain aware of these fallacies, especially ad hominem fallacies and biases. As will be displayed in both Langewiesche s and Jones s articles due to the fact that an abundance of these, divert readers from the main idea of their pieces, cause the authors credibility to be questioned, and therefore the credibility of the writing to be questioned as well. Ad hominem fallacies occur when an author instead of directly addressing an opponent s argument, uses a personal attack on his/her opponent s character or circumstances (Yapp, 2013, p.99). This fallacy causes two effects on the reader, the first is a bias against the authors opponent, which causes writing to be ineffective. Visibility In Macbeth Essay The question of visibility in Shakespeare s Macbeth, doesn t quite abide by the same straightforward literal invisibility as found in The Tempest or The Witch of Edmonton. The instances of questionable visibility in Macbeth are the hallucinations of the bloody dagger and the ghost of Banquo by Macbeth, and the hallucination of blood on her hands by Lady Macbeth. Each of these moments are moments in which the visibility of the vision is split. To the character who sees the vision it is most obviously discernible, however the vision is not necessarily visible to the audience or the other characters, thus functioning as a form of the unseen. In Scene 1, Act II, as Macbeth prepares to kill Duncan, he hallucinates a bloody dagger saying: Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? According to the theological premises, all Christians are mandated to believe in the Scripture s primacy. Secondly, justification is by faith alone, and Christians through believing will be saved, and not by their good works; as maintained by the Catholic Church.
